the concept for this is "what if voltron aliens were like, a little bit less humanoid." Galra (and alteans, not pictured) get to be the most humanoid because theyre main characters lol

[ID: various voltron aliens redesigned to remove many of their humanoid features. The Galra are largely unchanged; the only difference is that they have six limbs. Keith is demonstrating standing on four limbs; he looks not unlike a centaur, although the "horse" part is just a continuation of his body, not a horse (and is also the same color as his human skin, because it is human skin. sorry not sorry). Kolivan is demonstrating standing on two limbs, and towers over everyone else. Krolia is demonstrating standing on all six limbs, which looks uncomfortable but possible.

There is also an example of an Olkari; whose face is unchanged but now is built similar to a praying mantis; a Puigian, who retains the approximate locations of the face markings and horns but looks more like some kind of deer creature; an Arusian, which is built like a snail; and a mer alien, which now looks like a fish with hands and antennae. The Olkari is based on Ryner, and the mer alien is Plaxum. End ID.]

Celebrating a leap year birthday

Mermay time? MERMAY TIME!!!!!!!!! Anyway, I was hit with an idea. Human Regris with mer Pidge. I was craving both and just combined them together and I am more than pleased! So here we have Regris hanging out with his newfound aquatic friend and showing her a tablet he has. I love it.

Also, thanks to @zipp0flare, @toasthoneyandstardust, and @breadstickcat for helping me figure out Pidge's colours. Colouring a mermaid is harder than it seems at times.

Watching an ocean documentary rn and thinking about a vld mer au. Kinda like what I came up with for mermay but less focused on klance and more on the broganes.

Maybe Keith and shiro met when they were younger and were like “ fuck it we’re brothers now” but then shiro got captured by a trolling net. Keith’s first thought is “fuck it” and he sneaks out without Adam(who in this world is still Shiro’s fiancé.) knowing, and goes to find him. On his way he gets himself in some trouble for unrelated reasons and runs into Lance who helps him out. Then after hearing his story won’t let Keith go alone. So Lance convinces his best friend Hunk to join them, and they set out.

At this point Adam is freaking out cause not only is the love of his life missing, but so is his weird little brother/child thing and goes to find them both. Somehow him and Pidge team up cause their brother and dad got caught too.

They all meet up eventually and go on together.

Idk if I’ll ever do anything for this but it’s in my brain so enjoy ig.

Chapter Two: Lapping Waves pt. 2

First chapter here!

It'd been a normal day, swimming around and avoiding any Galra he could. The blue-finned merman swam as carefully as he could, the emerald merperson following behind with complaints every which turn. "The scaleless beings could see us! Or worse! They could catch us in their nets!" They exclaimed, flailing their arms around. "Relax! We haven't spotted any in a while, and they stay clear of here! The only thing is Galra, which is okay I suppose. We can avoid them! Now c'mon!" Lance says hurriedly, grabbing the other's hand.

They both settled on the rock, soaking in the sun. "Y'know, I kind of wanna see a human one day." Lance murmurs, a brown and a blue eye fixed on the white blobs above them. "Why? They've done enough for the sea for eons." Pidge mutters, swishing their tail absentmindedly. Talking flowed easily, as both bickered and on more than one occasion threw the other into the water.

"You know, I kind of want to learn what all they know," Pidge says, lifting a hand and tracing the outline of a dark cloud. "It'd be nice, y'know?" they murmur, Lance bobbing his head. "Yeah... it would be. Hey, the cloud's changed a lot." He says, sitting up quickly. Both frowned at the way the ocean was noticeably colder, at the way the wind grew angry, at the way the sky grew dark.

"We should go." They say, slipping into the water easily. Lance startles when they pull on his tail, a scowl present. "C'mon Lance! We have to go!" He splutters, pointing roughly. "There's a floating rock!" Over in the distance, but not too far, was a single human rowboat. It didn't appear to have anyone inside it, and he wanted to investigate it.

"No! Lance, we have to go now!" They exclaimed as the waves got rougher, trying to tug Pidge from Lance. The blue mer ignored the desperate pleas, swimming under towards the boat, even as the water grew rougher and rougher. Watching as the boat turned, he startled, nudging backward slightly. When the boat flipped entirely he gasped, watching a human spill into the water. The human struggled to surface, getting shoved under several times over. It was only when the human's struggling began to cease that the young mer swam over, making eye contact briefly. Purple eyes stared back, rich and beautiful as the being's eyes fluttered, then closed.

It was a bit too easy, dragging him into a cave with an air pocket, smacking his back until water spewed from his throat as he coughed. Watching as the human lost consciousness again, he noticed Pidge enter.

A beat.

Another beat.

"LANCE YOU IMBECILE WHY WOULD YOU BRING THEM HERE?!?!"

He didn’t have a chance to ask as Keith practically dragged him backwards against the shadow of the ship and clapped a hand over his mouth with a breathless, “sorry,” and then…

Then they were going under the water.

Lance screamed out bubbles behind Keith’s hand as the water closed over his head and what, what was this, why were they going under the water?

He was going to drown. 

Shiro was down there with them, his arm latching tight about one of Lance’s flailing ones and pinning it to his side and Keith’s grip was tightening to keep Lance’s other arm immobile and what was this what were they doing why were they—?

And a bright beam of purple light passed over their heads.

Lance immediately froze in his frantic attempts to somehow reach the surface because someone…

Someone was up there.

The beam passed over them again.

Someone had heard them.

They were going to be caught.
