all of the bad kids have some magic now--the ladies are all full casters, while fabian is a split multiclass, gorgug is a 1/2 caster multiclass, and riz re-subclassed into a 1/3rd casting progression. still an even split of multiclasses and pure classes, though that may change. riz's re-spec has bumped arcane trickster up to the most common rogue subclass, with 6 arcane trickster characters, 4 of whom sit in R1.

After long months of Droughlander - boom! - Thursday 11 July 2024 arrives, along with a surprisingly unoriginal 'hot couples' promotion from Blood of My Blood and a surprise guest appearance by Sam Heughan at STARZ TCA Summer 2024 at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, California.

Well, classical education, meaning educating for the good, the beautiful and the true, doesn't have much in common with STARZ's modus operandi.

They really did have the truth, bless them.

It’s so disappointing to see them trying to replace it with a weak, fake version instead.

You know, I'm not going to give Blood of My Blood a rating before I've even seen the series. To be honest, I don't think I'll be watching it because it's not really my thing. All I'm trying to say is that no man ever steps into the same river twice. I'm not sure I understand why you would go to the trouble of making a copy when you've already destroyed the original with your own hands? I don't see the point in that. Ok, I've just had another great quote come to mind: 'The truth is like a lion; you don't have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself.' Augustine of Hippo. I think it would be a great idea for the lovely folks over at STARZ to take a little break from scheming, manipulating and destroying the truth and instead read up on some classical philosophy. In the meantime, I'm curious, who has been brought on board to promote Blood of My Blood? Oh, what a surprise!

I wonder if there’s any truth in the rumour that STARZ’s milk cow was on the scene 🤣🤣🤣 This seems unlikely, doesn’t it? I have a feeling he's just as surprised as we are.

HER STORY IS INCREDIBLE EVERYONE SIT DOWN AND LEARN FROM THIS QUEEN ⤵️

Kiana Scott, who played minor hockey system for 11 seasons, including four seasons on boys teams, gravitated to scouting from watching her brother’s games and critiquing his strengths and weaknesses.

Unaware of jobs available in hockey, she enrolled in makeup artistry college after high school, but knew her heart was in the sport.

She eventually enrolled in an online hockey general manager scouting course.

Scott joined the International Scouting Service Hockey mentorship program in 2018 and scouted for the service for two years while holding down two jobs.

“I love scouting future prospects, and the evaluation process,” she said. “I think that's kind of where my passion lies. It's just the evaluation process. And it's exciting, building a team.”

Scott spent two seasons as a full-time scout for Erie before she took a bold step and left the organization to move to Calgary and became an independent scout in June 2022.

“I just kept practicing my craft and kind of paid my own way, like, throughout the whole year,” she said. “All of the tickets to every game, all of my travel expenses, everything. I just put all my money into scouting and trying to evolve and then I ended up getting my (Avalanche) internship the next year.”

Scott had some financial help from her family for the move and she supplemented her income by working as a bartender at a Calgary casino, a job with hours that allowed her to scout games.

If all that wasn’t enough, she also enrolled in the University of Florida’s online sports management program.

“I've always had the mindset to just keep betting on myself and working hard and evolving,” she said. “I think I've taken a lot of risks to get to where I am, but I wouldn't try to change the journey for anything.”

Scott said she hopes women, women of color and people who don’t come from a so-called “traditional” hockey background will follow her on the journey.

“I grew up playing hockey, but I didn’t play professional hockey, I didn’t go to college or university for hockey,” she said. “I just had a passion for it. I love scouting. I worked at it, and I continue working at my craft.

“People that don’t necessarily come from the traditional background, I hope they see themselves in me and believe that they can put their minds to it and get it done.”

The 2024 NHL Draft was as eventful for Kiana Scott as it was for the players who were selected in the seven-round event at Sphere in Las Vegas last month.

The 25-year-old Barrie, Ontario, native signed with the Colorado Avalanche at the draft to become a full-time amateur scout, fulfilling a goal she has had since she was a teenager.

“This is something that I've worked really hard for my whole career to be able to sign my first NHL contract,” Scott said. “I was elated. The Avs have been really good for me the past year, and I’m excited to keep building with them.”

Scott joined the Avalanche after working as an intern for the organization.

Colorado general manager Chris MacFarland said he and executive director of hockey operations Suzanne Borchert “were impressed with her work ethic and her passion."

MacFarland said: “Kiana was on our radar when she was scouting in major junior circuits ... and it worked that a few years ago we had an internship opportunity for her.

“She did a good job in that role and was an integral part of our amateur scouting department. We’re excited to see her contributions moving forward in her full-time role as an amateur scout.”

Scott made history when she became the first woman scout in the Ontario Hockey League with Erie in March 2020.

She was among the initial of a wave of women who were hired in recent years as scouts at all levels of hockey, including Cammi Granato (Seattle Kraken), Blake Bolden (Los Angeles Kings), Krissy Wendell-Pohl (Pittsburgh Penguins), Meghan Hunter (Chicago Blackhawks), Gabriella Switaj (Anaheim Ducks) and Brigette Lacquette (Chicago Blackhawks).

Granato moved on from Seattle to become an assistant general manager for the Vancouver Canucks on Feb. 10, 2022, and Hunter was promoted to assistant GM by the Blackhawks on June 22, 2022.

“When I first started scouting, I didn’t know of any women in the industry already,” she said. “Cammi Granato got her job with the NHL a year after I started scouting. That’s when I kind of knew it was possible. But I never had anyone to look up to. I just had this dream and the passion for hockey. I knew that I had to the talent and skill to do it, and to try to keep building on them.

"That’s what I’ve always gone off on -- keep evolving, never give up on what you love.”

my sweet angel passed away on may 6th, 2024 after 15 long years of love and companionship. libby’s been with me since i was 11 years old—it’s been so overwhelming and devastating to say goodbye to her, and it’s something i have to do every day until it stops feeling so surreal. it’s hard to believe she’s really gone, it still doesn’t seem possible to me. she was so vibrant and loud and bigger than life; she was my entire world, and her absence looms just as large.

coincidentally, the earliest photo i have of her is from may 6th, 2009, only a few days after we rescued her. we had been living in palestine at the time, and i heard these desperate little meows coming from a street gutter near our house—she had fallen down through the grates and, because she was only a few weeks old, was too small and weak to pull herself out. i’m forever thankful that we heard libby’s cries that day, because my life would never have been the same without her in it.

so, i decided to find as many photos of her taken on may 6th throughout the years as i could, in an effort to try and remember her as she truly was for all of her life before she fell sick with cancer—happy, plump, and carefree. this way, may 6th can be a day for me to celebrate her life, rather than simply mourn her death. here are some of those pictures.

‘Bakugo’s Match’ Quick Story and Headcannons

— “We have a new transfer student who will be joining this class,” Vlad King announced as a tall boy trudged into the room, “I expect you give him a warm welcome,”

“I’m (y/n),” the boy announced at the front of the room, “but don’t think that just because I got here late I’m weak, I’ll beat all your asses,”

The entirety of 1B deadpanned. You were just like Bakugo but with less yelling- —

The tension between you and Bakugo was intense

Like, you could ignore Monoma

But from the moment you two met it was instant

Bakugo thought of himself as better because he was in Class 1A

You thought of yourself as better because you were only in 1B due to transferring late

Fights between the two of you were matches of outlasting, you were both powerful and your quirks were similar

His was Explosions, nitroglycerine in his sweat

Yours was Kinetic Blast, the ability to collect kinetic energy and release it around you in high amounts

His explosions would charge your quirk, but your quirk made him sweat more due to the heat it could generate

— “Getting tired yet?” you goaded as he lunged at you with an explosion but missed.

“Ha! As if-” Bakugo yelled back, but you used your quirk to throw him away from you. The face behind his only urged you on more.

He landed a solid hit on your chest in retaliation, but it only made your quirk stronger. You sent that same kinetic energy back at him, the temperature around you both rising.

“Fuck you!” —

The current standing was your 11 wins to Bakugo’s 9

He kept saying that it was because his quirk charges yours more than yours charged his

Really, it was just that you wasted less energy with yelling profanities

Maybe he would finally shut up if his lips were on yous-

Wait what?

Even with exams the two of you would compete

But you were too well matched, often having the exact same scores

It didn’t take long of this routine before friendship attempted to weave through you, against both of your wishes

Once per fortnight the two of you would fight on a Friday, an unspoken agreement

When you won a match, you would lose the next

When he lost a match, he would win the next

Your firey personalities often lead to tension

But you could never truly hate each other

Actually, you both found the other rather attractive…

— The two of you had been put in a team together. Whether this was the teachers’ plan or not, you found yourself glaring at both Eraserhead and Vlad King.

“Bakugo your left!” you yelled as an Ectoplasm clone lunged at him. Without a moments notice, he turned and used his quirk in the clone’s face.

“Fuck that! How many are you on?!” he asked, lunging at another clone. The two of you were competing over who could ‘kill’ the most of Ectoplasm clones during training. Though it was not what the teachers wanted to instil in the two aggressive students, they couldn’t deny that it was a productive tactic.

“36-” you responded, but Bakugo quickly yelled back.

“Ha! 40! Take that you little shit-”

Right as Bakugo was about to hit one clone, another tripped him up from behind, causing him to stumble into you. You didn’t budge and held the boy’s weight, but he had fallen in a way that his body was partially draped across yours.

“What the fuck? Are you trying to seduce me or something?” You asked, using your quirk behind you to knock back any clones while Bakugo got to his feet.

“No?” Bakugo said, offended as he backed away from you quickly. Then he turned back and smirked, “Why, do you think I’m attractive-?”

“Shut the fuck up!” You cut him off, turning away to fight more, “Looking at your face for too long would make anyone lose brain cells,” —

The two of you were actually highly productive together and worked surprisingly well as a team

The flirting however? The came from nowhere

It started a way to get a rise out of Bakugo, but he was better than you thought

He would twist your words with that sexy ass grin and flirt back

But there was something more that neither of you ever spoke about

— “You’re weak.” you said on a whim one night, the two of you alone in a training room.

“The fuck did you just call me?” Bakugo seethed.

“Weak.” you reiterated.

Bakugo tried again, but you cut him off, “I will kill you-!”

“You can have as strong of a quirk as you like, but you’re weak,”

The two of you stood in silence, rage in Bakugo’s eyes but he felt like he needed to listen to what you had to say. Your eyes held something he couldn’t quite place, but rage he could find was only directed at yourself.

“You ever wondered why you’re trying to prove yourself?” you asked, “Expectations, inferiority…”

Bakugo ran it all through his mind. He was always told he would be a great hero. He was always trying to earn respect that he felt he was owed. He was always competing with someone when he felt like he wasn’t good enough.

But then something clicked. You were also like him. You were so much like him that his classmates often joked that you were his clone.

“By that logic so are you!” he found himself yelling defensively. He saw that same defensiveness flash in you.

“Yes, I fucking am!” you yelled, “Why do you think we fight each other?”

Silence settled between the two of you again. You turned and massaged your temples in frustration, but turned back when you heard Bakugo say your name.

“(y/n),”

You came face to face with him, his breath on your lips and your noses practically touching. Before you could protest, his lips were on yours.

It was an angry kiss. Passionate and annoyed, but far more gentle than you expected. Despite your urge to pull back, you only pressed the kiss further. Backing down would be admitting defeat.

His tongue slid across your lip and in retaliation you softly bit at his. Neither of you had backed down yet, and in your muffled thoughts you wondered if the only way to lose would be to run out of breath.

As the kiss deepened further, Bakugo reached to hold you, his hand on your hip and gripping hard. Not enough to hurt, but enough to make you panic. This was actually real. In a split-second reaction, you used your quirk to push him back. He stumbled as he processed what had just happened, now a two-person distance between you.

You had lost. He had taken you off guard and you reacted.

“Fuck you!” you said darkly. 

“You better be fucking good at it then,” he said and walked off as if nothing at all had just happened. He said it like a threat but you froze when you realised what he had meant.

Bakugo smirked on his way out. Not because you of what he had said and not even because you were flustered, but because he had won. No homo. —

You never spoke about that day again, and neither of you were ever going to admit any feelings out loud

Not for a very long while at least
