(A/n : OK, so it's quiet interesting cuz a week before Coachella I bought a lipstick in cherry red type shade, and when I saw Hongjoong at Coachella with same shade of Hair, it did things to me and that's how I wrote this. Enjoyyyyy~)
It was weekend, that means it was time to celebrate.
This weekend, a success party was organised for all the 8 lovely and hardworking boys by the company for their successful Coachella show and tour this summer. Ofcourse, a deserved one.
But, you were upset about one thing. You boyfriend. Hingjoong. Its been two weeks since they came back from US. But, it was just 4 days ago that he met you. Though, it's good that he is prioritising his time with his family, but you were upset upon the fact that he couldn't even meet you for sometime in these many days. He even met his friends from another company before meeting you. And that kinda made you sad for some reason.
Since you boy met, you've been giving cold shoulder to him, no matter how much he tried or apologised. You were not completely mad about it, its just you were playing with him for sometime, until the bomb inside him ticks. He might be a cutie patootie, until you test his limits, that's exactly what you were waiting for. You were just not going to let it loose until he made you.
As evening comes closer, you realise its time to get ready for the party tonight. The fact that Hongjoong was supposed to be at your apartment right now, getting ready along with you, but he was gone from morning without telling you a word. Sometimes you just can't figure out what's going inside his brain. But, you can't wait anymore, you have to start getting ready.
The theme was black and gold. Basic but classy combination. And, office parties are always classy. It was pure celebration night along with some business stuff. There was going to be an announcement at the party, but its fun part because only director knows about it, not even the boys.
As you think about all the exciting stuff that was going to happen in tonight's party, you get ready in your black backless bodycon dress, which was, ofcourse, a bit revealing. Revealing enough to trigger something in someone. Adding black heels and a cute little Balmain purse, finishing your look with gold rings, bracelet and a short gold chain.
Checking yourself finally in mirror for last time, you almost forgot to apply the lipstick. Your favourite thing in makeup. These days you are hooked onto a particular lipstick shade. A dark cherry red or blood red or dark red, however you call it. You just love how that shade looks on your lips. Applying the lipstick and checking yourself in the mirror for the very last time, you hear the sound of horn. Just in time.
You leave your apartment complex and while heading towards the street, there he is leaning against the car. No matter how much upset you are about him, in the end of the day, 'damn, he is really my man. Mine.' this is your last thought.
All black outfit, black shiny blazer, heeled boots, loose black shirt, golden chain and analogue watch. But wait, what you observed next was was you were not expecting. Your steps become slower. A brand new hair look. Undercut, cherry red dyed hair with wet look. It's as if you are day dreaming. He definately knows about your new obsession.
You walk up to him, cheeks already stained with heat, you didn't know what to say.
"Looking preety, princess" He compliments you. But, you remind yourself 'act upset.'
"You too." You say it coldly.
"Such a dry compliment? You don't know how much efforts I have put in today's look."
You clearly know what he is talking about, it's the hair, but you are currently playing hard.
"I mean, the look is preety handsome."
"The look?"
"Yeah. What else?"
"Very well."
To be honest, the more you are in front of him, the desperate your hands are growing to just caress his hair until you ruin the hairstyle. And, you just cannot control. An odd strand of his hair, resting on his eyebrow, looks out of place, which you try to fix. But, as your hand is approaching his forehead, he fixes it himself. Opening the door, he motions for you to get in. Irritated, you squeeze your eyes at him in annoyance and he responds you with a naughty smirk. "So, two-player game has finally started." Is what you think.
The ride till destination is just exchange of some words. You were continously resisting the urge to look at him. Just can't get enough of him in that hair colour. And his preety face. Oh god. But, one thing he doesn't knows, is your completely backless dress. He is yet to see it, and you know exactly when to use it as a trigger.
Reaching at the destination, you both are greeted with welcoming smiles from the boys. The 7 balls of sunshine welcoming you and your other grumpy ball of sunshine.
Their smiles are enough to make someone's day better. And, it's just the start of today's evening.
After the short greetings, you are seated at the couch, enjoying the drinks and snacks. Some of the members girlfriends are here too, with whom you are familiar with. There are also other artist from the company, for celebrating ATEEZ success. Such a wholesome company. And, suddenly there are taps on mic, stealing everyone's attention.
"Mic check, okayyy"
It's the director.
"Well, its about the special announcement. Total, of three announcements. Initially, I would like to tell everyone, that our boys, ATEEZ, after Hongjoong joining Balmain as brand ambassador, other boys will also be joining big brands from Korea and also international brands,as bran ambassadors, very soon."
Everyone cheer and congratulate the boys. Sometimes it just makes you tear up, how much these boys are growing.
( fr tho, I cry sometimes. )
"Secondly, ATEEZ will be having a Comeback in June."
Again there are cheers. Not gonna lie, Comeback period is so good, because as Hongjoong's girlfriend, you already know most of things from newest Comeback, and it's just so fun to see Atinys reactions to all the stuff getting released.
"Third, announcement. Out team manager is going to get married this month." This information does get the loudest cheers. The night is full of laughs and smiles. But, it's time for a game now.
Everyone is called up on the dance floor. The upbeat songs fills the environment. It feels like the clubs with all the crazy lightings and upbeat songs. But, as night gets older, upbeat songs turn to skies romantic songs. Ofcourse, for some of the couple present here. It starts with Manager and his soon to be wife joining the dance floor with cute couple dance. Later on, other members, San, Seonghwa, Mingi and Yunho also joins the stage with their girlfriends. You were stealing glances with Hongjoong, but he didn't ask you for the dance. It kinda made you upset. But, your bestie did notice it.
"Hey, it's not good to see a preety lady, sitting upset on the couch, while romantic songs are playing here. Come on, dance with me, will you?" It's Wooyoung, holding his hand out for you. Always been a life saver. You could always tryst him in situations like this.
"Gladly" you say with a smile and join him.
All this conversation just received piercing stares from Hongjoong.
On the dance floor, you can't thank Wooyoung enough for offering you for a dance.
"Gosh Wooyoung, you always get the situation right."
"Hmm, I've been observing it since you two came. Did you two fought or something?" He asks.
"Kind of. But just play along with me."
"Sure, your majesty."
As, you start the slow dance, you slowly bring all your hairs to the front from one side, revealing the backless dress.
"Holy, a backless dress. I see what you are doing." Wooyoung says to which you give a low chuckle.
"But, I don't think so I am allowed to touch your back. I'll be burned to ashes by someone."
"It's okay, you can hold my waist instead." You say.
"Oh Wooyoung, you are so loyal and you don't even have a girlfriend yet. How's that possible?"
"Didn't.....find anyone yet. My type is bit weird."
"Your future girlfriend will be so lucky."
"But looks like I won't be lucky anymore. Hongjoong's eyes are literally on fire. He hasn't stopped looking here for a second."
You chuckle to how stresses he sounds.
"You laughing?? Currently I am being used as a pawn and god knows what is going to happen to me, the next time Hongjoong calls me in his room."
"Haha, okay. This much is fine for today. Let's go."
"I hope this gets your work done." He gives you a thumbs up before leaving the stage.
You join Hongjoong again on the couch.
"Are you done dancing?" He is not looking at you. The mad energy radiates from him which gives you goosebumps but you try not to stutter.
"Yeah."
"Looks like you enjoyed it too much."
"Hmm, Wooyoung is actually so good at dancing."
He is still not looking at you.
"I still feel like this night shouldn't end. Its just so good to see eve-"
"We were leaving." He cuts you off.
"What?"
"Get up."
He gets up and heads to give last greetings to boys.
"Why are leaving early? There still alot of time." Seonghwa asks.
"Didn't have some proper rest for some days. Also, I need to drop her first. Right, Princess?"
He says to which you just nod.
Ride back was silent, not a single word exchanged. But as you reached, he grabbed your wrist. Dragging you all way up to your apartment complex, he yanked you into your bedroom, closing the door behind him.
"What is it Hongj-"
"Remove everything you have on your body, except that dress."
You are shocked by the sudden command, you just stand there, unmoving.
"Wasn't I enough loud for you to hear that? Get to work." There is something behind those eyes. Something that tells you not to mess up right now.
As you are removing all your accessories and heels, he is also loosening his own tie, folding the sleeves of his shirt to half, unbuttoning half of the buttons, messing his hairs a bit. Shit! The raw look that you enjoy to savour. Everytime he come backs from work or a meeting or award show, and loosening himself up after coming home, you would enjoy him in this look for hours. Not to mention the several times you have secretly pleasured yourself unknowingly imagining him in this look.
After he is done with it, he sits on the corner of the bed, right in front of mirror. He motions you to come closer and stand in front of him. His hands starts from your shoulder, caressing your body from your curves throughout your hips.
"Hmm, what a right choice for a party dress, showing all that cleavage, that back, that curve of the hips. It's not like, I want to limit your freedom, but I definately won't like what's mine to be eye candy for others." His voice goes low.
"Wear what you like baby, but don't use that to test my patience. Understand."
"This dress does not have a kind of good impression on me. Beacuse, it was not me who danced with you." His hands then heads towards your dress zipper but instead of opening the zipper, he straight out rips the dress from your back.
"And I make sure, you never wear this dress again."
The dress is soon pulled down from your body leaving you in your lingerie. No matter how many times you've been naked in front of him, no matter how many times you fucked, the way he looks at your body always brings goosebumps.
He manspreads and motions you to sit on his one lap. And you do as he asked. But, he has other plans today.
"Nah! Not like this baby. Face your back to me."
When you face your back to him, you could see both your figures in the mirror. You sitting on his lap, legs apart, him scanning the scene in front of him. But, what he says next, fills your eyes with horror.
"Since you were being a little bad today, your punishment is to only ride my thigh for today. And if you cum without my orders, forget getting my dick."
The worst thing you could hear today. After trying so hard to just get fucked, but all you get is a punishment, testing how much you can resist your high.
"Come on, baby. Move." His grit his teeth ordering you to begin the show.
Hesitantly, you start moving your hips. Slowly increasing your pace to gain more and more friction. You hands resting on his other thigh and bed, head thrown back, eyes rolled to your brain. Hongjoong resting both of his hands on bed, his head thrown back too. He sure is making you punished, but he himself is not sure how long he can hold back.
You just try to make your movements faster and faster, digging yourself more into his thigh, grinding as if your life depends on it. But, you are frustrated. Frustrated for not getting what you wanted, you click your tounge and whine in frustration while still maintaining the pace.
But your whines are loud enough to catch his attention. He lifts his head up, a victory smirk on his face, droopy eyes. "Did I just hear it right? Little cries of frustration." His mouth is right on your ear. "Frustrated because you didn't get what you wanted? How petty." He chuckles, the vibration of the sound making your ear feel numb.
He places his one hand on your neck, pushing your neck to the back, and other hand on your waist, helping you increase your pace, almost digging his nails in your waist. When you look in the mirror, he already has his eyes, trained on your face. And, you see the lust in his eyes, pure lust.
He for sure is your lovely boyfriend, but when he is filled with lust, it's like completely different person, as if he'd switch roles with some incubus. Not to mention, him having that perfect blood coloured hairs now, make your organs do backflips in your body.
Speaking of that, you try to raise your hands to try touch his hairs, but he is more in his sensed than you do right now. He quickly stops you by holding your hands, and then holding them at your back. You hear a scoff.
"If I let happen what you want the most, then what's the point of my punishment, yeah?"
You click your tounge again, clearly not hiding your frustration anymore. His one hand goes again to your waist, helping you work more faster. But, you can't hold it back longer. Your patience have ended.
“Ho- Hongjong pleasee-” you whisper.
“Hmm, did I hear something?”
“I am…..am so close. Please….”
“Aww, but you know the rules, right”
He is just testing every bit of your patience.
“Please, please, I beg…beg you.”
A single tear roll down your closed eye, out of desperation and your restrained release. But, your breathes grow heavy and you are so…so close to disobey him again. And he notices, stopping your movements.
“On your back, now.”
Without wasting a second, you are laying on bed. He gets in between legs separating them for him to stand on his knees, undressing himself. Finally pulling down his boxer to take out his hard dick. He pumps it himself for some seconds. He comes down to kiss you, or rather you'd say eat your lips out. The way he is kissing you with his tongue exploring every corner in your mouth, making you out of breathe.
Your hand pinned above your head, with one hand still stopping you from achieving your goa of touching his hairsl. Separating his lips from yours, he removes the last remaining pieces of clothes from your body.
“Remember baby, the rules are still same. No cumming without my permission.”
And with that he enters you, bottoming out, making you gasp out loud.
“Gosh, you are so wet, I don't even need to try.”
Then he starts moving, short shallow thrusts at start, pulling out just halfway through and then going all in again. Making your body rock every so slowly. But, then when he is done with the intro, he increases his speed suddenly, pulling almost out but then suddenly snapping in fast making you scream.
“Ahhh, fuck, fuck…ah agh”
“Oh, just this got you cursing like this, the main show is yet to begin.”
With this, starts thrusting fast, so fast that could rip your pussy. The sound of skin slapping, creaking of bed, both your pants and moans, fills the room.
He finally let your hands free to gain more stability, and first thing you do is find his hair. Intervening your hand with his hair, you pull them making Hongjoong groan. He is not that vocal in bed, but when he is, his moans are most best thing your ears have ever heard. And, you always try to find a way to make him moan.
He backs up for a while, halting his movements for seconds, and throwing your legs over his shoulders while still being inside you, wiping his sweat before starting again. This time he is not just thrusting but pushing himself inside of you, basically pushing you into the mattress. Your brain is so fucked out right now, you have no capacity to understand anything. You are gripping the sheets beneath you for your dear life. His balls deep inside of you, pushing in and out, furiously. There's a drool flowing from the corner of your mouth, eyes rolled back.
“Aww, look at that fucked out face. Do I do you that good baby, hmm?"
You hear everything but you are so messed to answer anything to him. All that comes out of your mouth are moans and screams of his name.
He comes down to kiss you again, kissing all that drool away. He bites your lower lip while kissing you, drawing out blood, making you wince, but without a thought he sucks your blood too. That particular action made the knot in your stomach tighten.
“Ahh!! Fuck. Shit baby, your blood tastes sweet- sweet too, ah.” He says within heavy pants. His speed of thrust has become slower but, instead he thrusts in with more force, literally making the bed rock back and forth. Pushing himself in you and at the same time pulling you towards him, with force. It just hits different when he is jealous and wrecks the shit out of you, the best type of sex because he'd give his all to make sure the name coming out of your mouth is only his.
He kissed your legs, from ankle to your knee while still thrusting, leaving bite marks on your calves. And with other hand, he adds two fingers to your already stuffed hole, thrusting with his fingers simultaneously with his dick. That made you scream out loud. Somehow you managed to open your eyes a bit, but as soon as he saw you a mischievous grin appeared on his face, looking directly in your eyes. You knew, there was something going in his head.
He removes his fingers from your hole and starts rubbing on your clit with his palm. No, he knows how to test you. You throw your head back into the mattress because of the sudden added pleasure. He starts rubbing forcefully on your clit, he could almost feel his dick slamming in and out through your skin. That was just bringing you closer and closer to your climax.
“Ho- Hong, plesee….”
“Umm, please what babe?”
“Hong-....you- you know….please”
“Oh, does my baby wants to cum???” He coos, mockingly.
“Yess….” You nod desperately.
“But, baby. You know the rules right?? What did I say??”
You know he wouldn't let you win, but you can't hold it back. But, coming without him saying so, would just bring you another trouble. You bang your fists on the mattress out of frustration.
“Oh oh, look who is angry.” He coos again. But he instantly comes down, his mouth hovering above your ear, “If you just don't want to go through this, then don't go around making ME angry.” He grits. “Understood. Now wait.”
He starts thrusting again, fast, his both hands on your neck. Your denied climax, him thrusting faster and his hands gripping your neck, all this was too much for you to handle, the overwhelming feeling was making your back arch. You again pull onto his hairs, getting him to moan loudly. Him moaning your name and curses loudly into your ear was your last straw.
“Ahhh, fuck y/n. You feel so fucking good. Ahh.”
“Hong- Hong…please. I can't hold…..”
After some hard thrusts he finally says.
“Baby, cum for me. Together. Come on.”
And with that, you release at the same time as him. Your body going limp suddenly. While he still stays inside you pushing both of your cum further inside you.
He removes himself and lays on you, hugging you from above, peppering your breasts with butterfly kisses.
“Baby, I know I was busy all these days and did not meet you. But don't ever do what you did today. If you want attention, just say it to me. Just know, at the end of the day, I will always come to you. I just can't see you in anyone else's hands.”
You nod with a hum. Your hands find its way to his hairs.
“You did this on purpose, didn't you?” You ask.
He scoffs with a guilty ‘yes’
“I saw, lately you've been liking this colour alot. So, I just tried matching my hair with your lipstick shade.”
“You don't know what that did to me.” He chuckles after hearing you.
He suddenly lifts you up in bridal style, heading towards the bathroom.
“Let's bath together. I will wash your hair today, ok.”

what happens with the kids? l Max Verstappen x reader
a/n: *sigh* I'm so done with this season bc I just know we'll be getting the same podium every other career and my tifosi dreams are just crumbling... also can we please just talk about that driver introduction like?????
anyway, this is based on this request I got the other day! thank you for requesting and sorry it takes me so long write the requests, but uni is kicking my ass <3
genre: angst oop
pairing: Max Verstappen x female reader. Lando Norris x reader but not serious.
warnings: divorce, kids, not proofread.
summary: Max really didn't have to find a girlfriend that soon after the divorce, and the fact that his girlfriend had a daughter of her own, didn't really help your case.
Tumblr media
It's safe to say you never really saw it coming. or maybe you did, but tried to ignore it as Mila and Luca had just celebrated their third birthday, with the second half of the season looming over your household, Max said the the words you never thought you'd hear.
I think we need some time apart to figure out some stuff.
At first you didn't really process it. Why would you possible need time apart? The twins were so young, you needed all the help you could get and things were good.
That's what you thought.
He said it was hard to continue your marriage if you couldn't keep him company or support him the way you used to, before having kids. Maybe he was oblivious to the disbelief showing on your features, trying to comprehend if he really needed to be reminded of your two young children, who had strict hours. You didn't feel the need to remind him that just three weeks ago Mila had to go to the emergency room for an allergic reaction, and a week before that, Luca was questioning you about why his dad wasn't around as much.
Max rubbed his left hand on the nape of his neck, obviously trying to ignore this part of the conversation, seeing as you eyes became teary and your eyes tried to find his blue ones, but he avoided them at all costs.
Then, it was time to bring the kids to a race, Austria to be specific. It was strange to walk without him on the so familiar space, holding Luca and Mila's hands, making your way to the Red Bull hospitality where Max was supposedly waiting for his family.
During the walk, you were greeted by most people from every team; engineers fist bumping the twins, Lando and Max Fewtrell giving you a side hug before trying to talk with Luca and Mila. Yet, when you reached your finishing point, Christian Horner's eyes opened widely, like his mind was trying to process something.
The Red Bull team principal was clearly distressed as he walked towards the three of you, greeting you as usual, but offering to take the twins for a quick tour, telling you there was a new snack bar the engineers had created and they should get to know it.
It didn't take long to realize the brit knew something you didn't.
A feeling you couldn't explain sank on your stomach. Your cheeks were already flushed, palms turned sweaty and suddenly your subconscious was trying to convince yourself that it couldn't be that bad, whatever it was. The world shook and your vision slowed down when you noticed a gorgeous black-haired woman, leaning against your husband as he laughed at something she said.
Your trembling legs managed to silently take a step back, trying to hold back the tears as you left the room, watching as Christian was still entertaining the twins, following you as the kids noticed you.
"Christian, can you please call Max to tell him we're here?" Somehow, with some divine strength, you were able to get the words out, ignoring Christian's glare as if he was trying to ask if you were okay.
In a matter of seconds, Max had joined you, receiving Mila and Luca with open arms. He wasn't aware of the fact that you already knew the reason he wanted a time off wasn't because he didn't get to see you, or that you couldn't make the effort to travel with the kids.
No.
Just as Christian had suggested, the kids went with him as Max directed your way to a secluded space. He didn't know what he was expecting, but it sure wasn't "I want a divorce"
He blinked. Once. Twice. "What do you mean you want a divorce?"
A snicker left your lips, was he trying to play dumb? You knew Max Verstappen as the palm of your hand. You knew him better than yourself.
You didn't need to see him kissing the black-haired woman, or holding hands, or even touching her.
Max's eyes, your husband's eyes, expressed everything you needed to know.
It wasn't important that he berated you for dropping this news right before Red Bull's home race, that his eyes tried to find yours but were unable to, as your crossed your arms as if that would protect you from the heartbreak and sudden change of plans; from a happy couple, a merry marriage and joyous family, to a life of weekends separated, of preparing their bags on Friday night, of being civil for the sake of the twins during their birthday...
And because you knew him so well, the relief that flashed through his blue eyes didn't pass unnoticed by you, because it wasn't him who said the words. He was guilty, but he didn't take the shot.
Your girlfriends always joked about his friends always were the first ones to reach out after a break up, making you laugh until text messages and Instagram DMs started rolling in: Red Bull engineers and mechanics, Lando Norris, Martin Garrix, among others.
Hey! I heard about you and Max, just wondering if you are okay and want to meet up some time?
It didn't take long to accept one of their offers, having messy nights with a British driver and multiple people from the paddock, but it was never meant to be more. and it absolutely wasn't, but it was early Sunday when the concierge called to inform the arrival of Max and the twins. Of course you didn't hear, Lando's body pressed against you as his soft snores invaded the bed you once shared with Max.
and obviously, Max being as restless as always, decided to just take the direct elevator to the penthouse overlooking Monte-Carlo. That's what made Lando open his eyes, very widely, as you hastily walked him towards the walk-in closet so that he could get dressed and not be seen or heard by Max.
Not that it mattered, but you were capable of putting family peace in front o making your ex-husband jealous.
"Hello my sweets!" Mila and Luca made their way into your arms, not caring about their backpacks making things a bit uncomfortable. "Did you have a good weekend?"
Luca started blabbering about papa's new place, the dishes Max's girlfriend cooked for them, and the incredible time they both had with Sara, the daughter of Max's girlfriend. There obviously was a bond between the three children, both arguing about how Sara liked them more than the other.
Max hadn't had the time to greet you or ask about your weekend, his gaze fixing on an orange hat.
"Since when do you own McLaren merch?" Max questioned you, pointing the foreign object, the logo being unusual on the household.
Ignoring how your heart skipped a beat, feigning ignorance your body turned to where Max's finger was pointing. "Oh, I don't know? I think someone gave it to me at one of the races. Long time ago, though."
That's when both Max and you noticed the twins were gone, probably on their bedroom unpacking or searching the kitchen.
Max took a couple of breaths, his eyebrows scrunched and eyes trying to find yours, not even attempting to hide his feelings. "Are you hooking up with someone from McLaren, (Y/N)?"
Your eyes widened, then took a step back trying to see if you heard him right. "Why would you even ask me that?"
Max shrugged; "I have a right to know, in case they end up sharing time with M and Luca. I can't control how everything works during the week so I'd like to be kept in the loop."
This time it struck like lightning, the fury and anger and disillusion your heart was carrying. "You have no right, Max. Absolutely no fucking right to be kept in the loop about what goes on in my life,"
Max didn't flinch at your tone, "I didn't say about your life, I'm aware that we are divorced, I'm talking about Mila and Luca,”
"I always think of them, they're the first thing on my mind when I wake up, and the last thing when I go to sleep. They're always on my mind and never leave, and I would never do anything to hurt them or even cause them the tiniest bit of disappointment. You have no right to come here and tell me you want to know about what goes on in here, because you are the one who chose to leave us in the first place," You vented, with Max's blue eyes fixed on you he was trying to keep his composure, but you knew he was uncomfortable.
"We are not having this conversation now, (Y/N). It's over, now it's just about the kids," Max added with a slight roll of his eyes.
"When are we having this conversation, then? When are you going to tell me that you wanted to separate because there was someone else already? that I wasn't enough for you? not even our kids were enough to make you doubt your decision to leave me, and it feels terrible and I don't know if I'm ever going to be able to feel the same because I'm shattered, Max." The words felt like someone was ripping your heart out of your chest, leaving you vulnerable as the thoughts became real, they were out there, but then it was followed by a bittersweet relief of not holding back anymore.
He noticed the tears and hiccups as you tried to make the point. His eyelids trembled as his hands meant to reach out to yours, pull your body to his, squeeze your waist and kiss your hair while assuring everything was going to be just fine.
That was the moment he realized that wasn't his place anymore, probably would never be again. Max didn't even think about that while signing the divorce papers, he didn't bother to show up to anything, sending a lawyer to do whatever was needed, and now it was hitting him like a ton of bricks.
His realization was cut short as the kids came running, Luca placing the McLaren hat on his head, ignoring Mila's voice telling him it wasn't daddy's team.
"I think this is when you leave, Max,"
You managed to keep your voice from quavering and erasing every trace of a tear, telling the kids to say goodbye to Max.
Yeah, this wasn't what Max had in mind for his Sunday morning.

✨Nothing he couldn't handle Pt. 1/3✨
Summary: You finally tell Ben why you won't let him in your panties.
Pairing: Soldier Boy x Reader
Warnings: Language, touching and teasing, anxious Reader
Word Count: 2206
A/N: English isn’t my first language, so please be lenient. 💙✨
Tumblr media
“Damn it!”, you muttered as you searched the fridge for something to eat. You should have been asleep by now, but you were still full of adrenaline after the last mission you completed just 4 hours ago. Everyone else had been in their rooms for about two hours while you tiptoed around the kitchen in your pajama shirt, desperately looking for a little snack.
You've been a member of the Butchers team for 6 months now. Well, more or less a member. You didn't fight, that wasn't your thing at all, but you had a lot of skill when it came to profiling Supes and figuring out what made them tick, when they lied and what they planned to do next. You worked for Vought, for a 4 year training, until the Tower crashed. In just 2 years, you had learned more about Supes and their profiling than other people did in ten years. You were by far the best in the field, but most importantly, you couldn't be bought and had a strong dislike for Homelander, which was why Butcher showed up on your doorstep six months ago and had Hughie begging you to join the team. The Supes and everything that came with them stopped scaring you a long time ago. You were already too jaded. Well, except for one small aspect.
After agreeing, you stayed in your apartment for a few more weeks, but you quickly realized that wasn't an option at all when you narrowly avoided being split lengthways by Homelander.
Since then you have lived with the other boys, Annie and Kimiko. After the incident between Homelander and Soldier Boy, Annie also made the decision to move in with Hughie to stay with the boys and protect him.
"If you bend over a bit more, I swear to you, I'll rip those damn thin panties off your little ass", Soldier Boy muttered as he leaned against the kitchen island with his arms crossed. "Shit! Stop scaring me!", you squealed a little too loudly, standing back up and clutching your yogurt tightly in both hands. "And by the way… eww! Everything that comes out of your mouth is fucking disgusting”.
Soldier Boy just rolled his eyes and leaned back a little more. Your gaze wandered over his bare torso as you unconsciously bit your bottom lip.
Soldier Boy had been after you since you moved into the apartment you shared. You were the new nice toy he couldn't have. And that very fact made him want you even more.
Of course you couldn't deny damn fine Soldier Boy was, to be honest you actually developed feelings for him over the last few weeks but after the countless accidents and even deaths that occurred when Supes and humans had sex you were just too afraid to let him get to you. As long as Ben was a few healthy inches away from you, your mouth was huge and your attitude even bigger, but as soon as he came closer and touched you, you flinched. Maybe Vought simply shouldn't have assigned a young girl in training to the department that dealt with the most egregious deaths, caused by supes. You hadn't even lasted five months there when you begged Stan Edgar himself to let you join the profiler team.
"You're horny, aren't you?", he grinned knowingly. “Your heart is beating almost as fast as it did, when I kissed you for the first time”. Just the thought of it made your knees weak. You let Ben get close to you twice, but both times you stopped when his hands slid over your hips to your ass.
“No, I’m not”, you grumble and start eating your yogurt, your back leaning against the kitchen counter, facing him.
“C´mon, Sweetheart. I promise you’ll fucking love it”, Ben pushed himself off the kitchen counter and took two steps towards you. You immediately tensed up and pushed yourself back even more.
“Ben…”, you whispered as he stood right in front of you. When his big hand cupped your cheek, you thought your heart would explode. “What do you have to lose?”, he murmured, tilting his head down until his lips touched your neck. As your heartbeat picked up again, he stayed in his position, waiting for some kind of reaction from you.
“My life”, you breathed.
Ben immediately pulled his head back and looked at you, confused, his eyebrows furrowed.
“Do you think I’ll get you pregnant? You´re fucking stupid? Yeah, I kinda like you, but a child would be too much, don't you think?". Ben had absolutely no idea what you were talking about.
Since you were no longer surrounded by him, you had found your voice again. It was like your brain finally had oxygen again.
"What? No! I did not mean that! Of course having a child would ruin my life, at least for now, but that’s not what I meant!”.
Now Ben just looked more confused. His eyes were on you as he tried to understand you. He couldn't understand why you put him off for weeks. He was nice to you, talked to you and even started watching that stupid show about demons and other supernatural crap. And yet you didn't let him get close to you. He was allowed to kiss you twice, that was it. You were a damn tease and he was starting to lose his nerve.
“Then tell me what you fucking mean, Tom Hardy”.
Slightly overwhelmed, you groaned and let your head fall back before you answered. You knew Ben wouldn't let go, if you didn't finally tell him why you were so reserved.
“I’m scared, okay?”, you confessed, still not able to look at him. However, you could hear the surprise in his voice.
"Wait, what? I know you’re not a fucking virgin anymore, so why should you be afraid?”.
It took a few minutes and admonitions from ben, before you finally told him why.
When you finally made it, you looked intently and expectantly at the Supe in front of you. His face slowly relaxed, but his gaze still remained unreadable to you. However, when a slight grin crept onto his lips, you shook your head in annoyance, grumbled "I definitely don't have to let you laugh at me" and started to walk out of the kitchen, but Ben grabbed your wrist. "Fucking Relax, dollface. I’m not laughing at you", he chuckled, but immediately let go of you as your heart beat faster again. With his lips pursed to hide his grin, he raised both hands apologetically.
Slightly offended, you crossed your arms over your chest and looked at him without saying a word. Ben took a deep breath before speaking.
“Do you really think I would hurt you?”, he asked, still smiling slightly.
“You’re not exactly known for your self-control, Soldier Boy”, you replied sharply, narrowing your eyes.
“Oh Sweetheart, believe me. It takes more than a nice tight pussy to make the first fucking super explode". That started the next discussion. It was back and forth, like the last few weeks.
“Okay, how about you sleep in my bed tonight. Just sleep. And if you're still alive tomorrow, you'll have your proof", Ben suggested at one point.
The thought of sleeping with Ben in his bed was both exciting and frightening, but you knew there weren't many options left before he would eventually give up on you. You tapped your folded forearm thoughtfully.
"Only sleeping?", you asked cautiously after a while.
"Ugh… promise?", he replied annoyed.
A few more moments passed before you forced yourself to say it and finally nodded.
"Okay. Maybe that’s not such a bad idea”, you murmured.
Ben rolled his eyes and shook his head, but couldn't help and let a small, genuine smile appear on his lips. When he started walking but you still stopped, he whistled to you, which finally broke you out of your trance. With a few quick steps you caught up with him and walked nervously next to him. When you got to his bedroom door, Ben roughly pushed the door open as usual and waved his arm for you to move on. In fact, it was the first time you were in his room. Your eyes scanned everything as Ben watched you expectantly. You were pretty sure you wouldn't sleep a wink.
As expected, his room smelled of alcohol, weed and a hint of his perfume. Ben walked past you and gently ran his palm over your back, but only for a split second. He sank onto his bed, pulled his legs up and leaned his back against the headboard of the bed. His hand reached for the joint he had started on the nightstand.
"You should take a hit, it would help you relax", Ben lit his joint before taking a deep drag.
“Yeah, I’d rather not", you snorted, continuing to look around the room. Your gaze stopped at the top shelf next to the bed. As you stretched, your shirt riding up and Ben getting a perfect view of your perfect ass, he felt his cock twiching in his sweatpants. Maybe he shouldn't have been abstinent for three weeks when he really had no other choice. He couldn't get you out of his head for days. He had tried having fun with other women several times, but even with his cock deep in a slut's throat and the idea of the bitch being you, it just wasn't working.
“Ewww Ben, are youfor real?”, you pulled out an erotic magazine from 1971. “Gosh, there’s more hair than skin”, you grimaced as you flipped through the pages.
“Well, different times, doll". His gaze traveled from your face, down your body and back to your eyes. “I bet your pussy is perfectly shaved and fucking smooth", he licked his lips, keeping eye contact with you. Your cheeks immediately turned bright red because Ben hit the mark.
“C'mere”, Ben said in his deep voice, putting an arm around your waist and expertly pulling you onto the bed. Landing on your butt, you let out a short squeak of surprise. Ben focused on your heartbeat and breathing as he continued to hold you. Your back was pressed against his bare chest as he still leaned against the headboard.
"How does that feel?", he whispered against your ear, one arm wrapped around you as his free hand slowly stroked down your side to your thigh.
“I… I don’t know”, you whispered shakingly after a few seconds.
Ben scoffed before pressing a light kiss to your pulse point. “Relax, doll. Focus on my touch, not your fucking thoughts”, he breathed against your neck, but no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t calm your nerves. “Ben…please…You promised”, you tried to push Ben’s arm away from your waist.
“Fiiiiinee”, he groaned annoyed, releasing you from his grasp.
Ben slid further down so he was lying and reached for his phone. He went through the news as if nothing had happened while you still sat rooted to the spot.
“You want to sleep sitting fucking up?”, he murmured, not watching from his phone.
Grumbling, you lay on your side, your back to Ben, and pulled the blanket up to your neck. “Goodnight”, you said quietly, closing your eyes. Ben glanced over at you for a moment before putting his phone away and raising an arm to wrap it around you, but then quickly let go. Ben watched you for a few minutes before lifting the blanket and laying under it too.
When you still hadn't fallen asleep after about 30 minutes of Ben just listening to your heartbeat, you opened your eyes again. “Ben?”, you breathed, barely audible.
"Hmm?".
“Can I try something?”.
“Whatever you fucking want”, he grumbled tiredly.
You took a deep breath before turning to him and looking at his face. Your hand slowly moved to his upper arm and lingered there for a moment before pressing yourself closer to him.
"Can you hold me?", you whispered.
Ben was definitely not the soft type and by now he would have kicked any other woman out of his bed, but like he had been doing for the last 6 months, he made an exception for you.
"Women. Just can't fucking decide", he grumbled, his eyes still closed. His hand reached under your ass and pulled you as tight as he could with a firm tug, knocking the air out of your lungs. Your face was on his chest, next to your hand, while your right leg lay directly over his lap.
"That's okay?".
“I think so”, you answered him as his hand went under your shirt to your lower back and he held you tight. “Feels kinda nice”, you admitted sheepishly, breathing in his distinctive scent.
"Good. Now shut your mouth and sleep. I’m fucking tired”, he grumbled, starting to rub small circles over your soft skin with his thumb.

A/N: Please let me know what you think.🥰 Would you like a second part? Been thinking about giving Ben what he wanted from (y/n) for months.😏

Someone's there.
Bucky x Reader
Summary: When you walk home from the office, someone seems to be following you home. Your best friend is not happy about that.
Word Count: 2.5K
Warnings: Stalking/Stalker-Ex BF, Domestic Abuse, Anxiety, Angry!Bucky, Protective!Bucky, Panic Attack
AN: This is definitely not what I intended to write when I started but anyway. Have good day my dudes!!!
Tumblr media
You stepped out of the office, pulling your coat tighter around you against the night. It was mid-November and New York was getting colder and colder every day that passed by. You were excited about Christmas - it was one of your favourite times of the year. The lights that went up from apartment to apartment, the tree and ice rink in Rockefeller center that you and your boyfriend - Nathan - visited every year, you and Nathan driving up to Boston to meet your family. Well, your ex-boyfriend.
You'd broken up a month ago. He'd been laid off about a year ago and taken up drinking to fill the time. Nathan was not a very nice drunk. He'd yell and throw things when he was angry, which was most of the time when he was drunk, and then beg you to come back, saying that he needed you and that he'd clean up his act as soon as he got a job. You had a well-paying job - secretary to the Avengers - but Nathan was always the higher earner of the two of you. You could hardly sustain his lifestyle on your job, but you stayed. Why? You had no idea.
Nathan was a smart guy, he got picked up by some major firm headquartered in Manhattan just over a month after he got laid off. He was back to his old routine of leaving the house at 6 and coming back by 8 - you hardly saw him anymore.
And much to your dismay, the drinking didn't stop. Sure, he slowed down. He couldn't risk ruining his reputation at his new workplace. So he limited the drinking to after work. But he never stopped.
The throwing vases became throwing punches, the yelling became constant threats, consoling words became consoling sex.
You did well to hide the new bruises from your colleagues, although your act was not good enough to fool everybody. You'd let your guard down in the toilet, rolling your sleeves up to wash your hands, just as Natasha Romanoff. Yes, Natasha Romanoff aka the Black Widow aka the world's best assassin.
She didn't mention it there, but you were called to a meeting with her soon after. She sat you down with a glass of water and asked you a simple question: "Are you safe?"
Your wide eyes and trembling figure gave you away.
Nat implored you to break up with him or to at least come and live at the compound for a while - just until you figured out what you wanted to do.
You turned her offer down, stating that you were fine. You'd be fine. She fixed you with a stern glance, but even Natasha Romanoff couldn't force you to do something you didn't want.
Bucky, on the other hand, was a completely different story. He'd noticed the bruises long before Nat had, and gone out of his way to try and make your life easier. He sent you less paperwork to file, fewer menial tasks to do, and even put in a request for you to be moved to the New York office. In his eyes that meant you'd be further away from Nathan.
The next week, you both moved to Manhattan.
The bruises started to get darker, and more visible around your body. You dropped the short-sleeved dresses and low necklines in favour of long-sleeved turtlenecks with trousers.
Bucky worried for you. The dark rings around your eyes, the ghostly pallor of your skin. He was determined to save you. The only issue was he had no idea where you lived. New York was a big enough place that he'd never run into you. He knew you didn't live in Brooklyn, but that was about it.
The night where it all came to a head was after a Stark Gala. There was a group photo, where Bucky's arm rested on your hip while your arm rested on his. Nathan was pissed. He'd been sitting on the sofa when you came home, the photo open on his phone and a half-drunk bottle of whiskey in his hand. He pushed you into a wall and slapped you, his rings cutting into your face. He yelled every manner of words in your direction, calling you a 'slut' and a 'whore', and telling you that you were worthless. You cried, fresh bruises forming on your neck where he gripped you and blood dripping down your face.
You took his berating for the next few hours until Nathan retreated onto the sofa, sitting down and muttering under his breath. You opened your mouth, trying to defend yourself. Wrong move. Nathan stood up, even more agitated than before. He grabbed the bottle of whiskey that was almost finished and brought it down on your head.
The next thing you remember was waking up to 4 white walls. You were in a hospital, your hand being gripped tightly by someone. You tried to escape from the vice-like grip when a thumb ran over your knuckles. You knew those hands.
"Bucky." You whispered, your eyes still adjusting to the light. Your voice was sore from disuse, but the way that Bucky's eyes lit up, you would have thought that you were singing a love song just to him.
The calmness in your heart faded as soon as your brain caught up with you. You tried to convince Bucky that he needed to go but he shushed you gently.
"Shh. Don't stress yourself out. You're safe. I promise." The red rings around his eyes gave him away. Bucky had been crying. Over you.
You held his hand tightly that day. And the day after. And even the day after that. You weren't sure if you would ever find the strength to let go.
Tumblr media
By the time you were out of the hospital, you'd moved back to Upstate New York - Bucky had made sure that you would never have to set foot in the city again if you didn't want to.
You returned back to work as normal - the restraining order you had filed against Nathan made your mind rest easier. The whole team was happy to have you back and smiling again, but they made sure to check in with you a hell of a lot more than they used to. Clint would swing by with an apple, and accidentally leave it at your desk - the first time, you'd felt bad and tried to return it, but you quickly caught on to his tactics. Nat would bring up game nights and movie nights, begging you to come, even if it was just you both.
But most of all, Bucky. Every day, you'd wake up to a text from him, wishing you a wonderful morning and spewing some inspirational affirmations for the start of the day. He'd bring you coffee, made just how you like it, as soon as he was back from his morning run. He'd spent a while perfecting the drink - making sure it was exactly to your standard. He'd walk you to your apartment for your biweekly 2pm therapy sessions (that he'd set you up with after he had realised how much difficulty you were having sleeping), and then off to lunch at some random hole-in-the-wall spot that he knew you would love. He'd call you as you got home, making sure you got home safe, and then a goodnight text to fall asleep to.
To others, his persistent need to be around you would be stifling. But after 4 years of having your needs be put lower than the damn cockroaches in the walls, it was nice to feel wanted.
You set your life up - personal bank accounts, new social media - anything to separate that part of your life from your new one. You got a new phone (courtesy of Tony, who insisted on buying you the latest iPhone, no matter how hard you tried to convince him that he didn't need to do that because 'where on earth would you find the money to pay him back?' He scoffed at that, "I'm a billionaire hun, I think I can afford to buy my secretary a new phone). You went to get your haircut, the shorter length was something you knew Nathan would have hated.
You'd walked into the compound the day after you got it cut, worried that no one would like it as much as you did.
As soon as you made it to the kitchen, you heard a loud wolf whistle. Nat was sitting on the sofa with Sam, and they both cheered loudly as you posed for them.
Bucky's jaw dropped as he walked into the kitchen. You were still showing off for Nat and Sam - you hadn't seen him walk in.
He walked over, reaching behind you to get a pod for the coffee machine, leaning down to whisper in your ear, "Looking good, Doll." His hot breath against your neck sent shivers down your spine.
You smiled up at him, before grabbing an apple and heading back toward your desk. You glanced back at Bucky and your eyes drifted downwards to a very large and very prominent issue. You stifled a giggle before getting back to work.
You'd continued to tease Bucky for a while, inconspicuous brushes and a few comments here and there. Enough to make him flustered, but not enough to make him suspicious.
He continued being the perfect gentleman. Helping you when you needed him to, being there when no one else was.
Tumblr media
You started your normal journey back home, getting out of the compound was sometimes a tedious affair because of the thousands of security gates between the compound and the outermost gate. Given that this is where the Avengers live and train, it's justified. Still tedious though.
It was a quarter mile from the compound to the bus stop that took you home - you didn't like driving, especially in the frost and the dark. You put your headphones in, picking back up on the podcast you started this morning. It was an interesting one - some new True Crime podcast that your best friend had recommended to you.
The hair on the back of your neck stood up as you walked through a dark and lonely street. You gripped your bag tighter around you and sped up. There was someone following you.
You glanced behind you, your eyes catching sight of brown hair and a blue t-shirt. It had Palm Springs emblazoned on it. Funny. You'd bought Nathan a similar t-shirt a few years ago.
You fished your phone out of your pocket, quickly dialing the one person you felt safest with.
"Doll?" Bucky picked after the first ring.
"Bucky, cred că cineva mă urmărește." You said, your voice loud enough that the other person could hear you were on the phone.
"Tell me where you are, Doll, I'll come and get you." You could hear Bucky pulling on a jacket and grabbing his keys.
"Umm, cred că sunt aproape de Joey's."
"The pizza place?"
"Da, îl văd de unde sunt." The footsteps behind you seem to be getting louder, but you forced yourself to remain calm, "Am să te aștept acolo. Vă rog să veniți repede."
You ducked into the pizza place, walking straight up to the counter. By now, you were sure of who it was - but Nathan didn't follow you into the pizza place. Maybe you were just overreacting. Joey's was mostly empty, with a few teenagers here and there - probably camping out after some house party that got shut down.
"Same as always, kiddo?" Joey asked, and you nodded with a slight grin. You and Bucky came to Joey's Pizza Place a lot - Bucky used to say that it felt like home. You were inclined to agree.
"No metal man with you today?" Joey enjoyed teasing Bucky. His dad, also named Joey, had fought alongside Bucky in the war. Joey had grown up on stories of the greatness of the Howling Commandoes and it had been one of his greatest pleasures to serve him pizza every time they came.
"He's coming - got caught up in traffic."
"Busy men, huh?" You giggled at that.
The door opened again. You turned around to find yourself face-to-face with someone you hoped you'd never see again. Nathan's sister.
Tumblr media
"Thought I'd find you here, bitch."
June stalked over to you, her face filled with rage. She had been good friends with you before Nathan and your relationship started going wrong, but when you had confided your pains with her, she'd turned her back on you. Blood is thicker than water. She'd called you names before - filling your comments with every vile comment she could think of, texting and emailing you death threats, anything to remind you of just how broken and damaged you were.
Before you knew what was happening, her hand collided with your cheek. The whole place burst into action.
Joey jumped around the side of the counter as June hurled insults at your face.
You tried to push her away as she swung at you again, but her hand hit your shoulder.
Joey pushed you behind him, as one of the kitchen hands stepped out to pull June back.
A teenager was on the phone with the police.
You tried to cover your ears as the noise built in your head.
The door swung open, letting in a draft.
Boots on the linoleum floor. Familiar boots.
Sirens.
"We were in the neighbourhood, Sergeant." Something about a noise complaint.
A hand pulling you into a firm chest. Tears streaming down your face. Your favourite voice whispering sweet nothings, stroking your hair, begging you to calm down.
"You're doing so good for me, Doll, just keep breathing." Bucky's pulse was steady under your hand. Slowly, your breathing evened out and you lifted your head to meet Bucky's eyes. He kept his arms wrapped tightly around you to stop you from collapsing.
You stayed in Bucky's embrace while the police wrapped up - June was being taken to the local PD for the altercation and also driving under the influence. Bucky told you that Nathan had also been arrested for violating the restraining order. Your heart sunk.
"I'll never escape him, will I?" You whispered to Bucky, as you sat down in your favourite booth to eat.
"You can, and you will," Bucky reassured you, squeezing your hand in his.
You ate your pizza in relative silence after that - most of the shop had cleared out with the police. Joey gave you your pizza for free, along with a tight hug on the side. He told you that you'd always be safe in here, "although metal man seems to have that covered." Bucky glared at the nickname, making you both laugh.
You walked hand-in-hand to Bucky's motorbike - his fingers ghosted over the bruise on your cheekbone from the slap as he fastened your helmet on your head.
"It's nothing, Buck. I've had worse." Bucky gave you a pointed look, "Too soon?"
He threw his leg over the bike and you settled behind him, resting your cheek on his spine. "Forever is too soon for my liking."
You smiled at that and nuzzled further into his back.
"Where to madam?" He said, putting on an exaggerated British accent. You leaned up to whisper in his ear.
"Take me home, Buck."

It's Always Been You
Part 3
Previous Chapter ... Next Chapter
Word Count - 4,855
Tumblr media
A:N this isn't exactly what I pictured for this chapter, but it goes into more detail about their feelings. Which idk about you, but I have been dying to figure out.
Y/N stepped out of the apartment building, the cold night air whipping at her face and stinging her tear-stained cheeks. She took a deep, shuddering breath, trying to compose herself as she made her way down the sidewalk, her heels clicking against the pavement.
As she approached the curb, she saw a sleek grey Mercedes parked along the street, its engine idling softly. The driver's side door opened, and a tall, handsome man stepped out, a concerned expression on his face as he hurried to greet her.
"Hi," he said, his voice warm and slightly hesitant. "Are you alright? I got scared you were gonna ditch me out here."
Y/N forced a laugh, the sound hollow and brittle to her own ears. She felt a pang of guilt at the concern in his voice. If only he knew how close she had come to canceling.
How the thought of walking back into that apartment and facing Jack again made her stomach churn with a sickening mixture of heartbreak and humiliation.
She swallowed hard, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill over once again.
But she couldn't bring herself to do it, couldn't bear the thought of spending another night alone in her room, crying herself to sleep over a man who would never love her the way she wanted him to.
So instead, she pasted on a smile, straightening her shoulders with false bravado, hoping that the dim streetlights would hide the redness of her eyes and the tremor in her hands.
"No, no, I wouldn't do that," she said, her voice falsely bright. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, a nervous habit.
"I'm sorry if I kept you waiting. I just had a little trouble finding my keys." The lie tasted bitter on her tongue.
Liam studied her face for a moment, his blue eyes searching hers. His brow furrowed with concern. "Are you sure? You look upset." He reached out tentatively, his fingertips grazing her arm in a comforting gesture.
Y/n hesitated, chewing on her lower lip as she debated whether to tell him the truth. She had only matched with Liam a while ago, and the last thing she wanted was to burden him with her problems.
But there was something about his gentle, caring demeanor that made her feel safe and understood. She met his gaze, seeing only kindness and warmth reflected back at her.
"It's nothing," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. She averted her gaze, focusing on a crack in the sidewalk. "Me and my roommate just had a disagreement. Happens all the time." The words felt flimsy, a poor attempt to downplay the depth of her pain.
Liam's expression softened, and he reached out to take her hand in his. His touch was warm and comforting, a stark contrast to the icy cold that surrounded them.
"I'm sorry, Y/N. I hope tonight makes you feel better." He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, his thumb brushing over her knuckles in a soothing gesture.
Y/N nodded, blinking back fresh tears. She drew in a shaky breath, trying to compose herself. "I'm sure it will Liam." She managed a small, grateful smile, hoping it reached her eyes.
The man smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he held out his hand to her. "No worries," he said, his voice warm and reassuring.
"I'm just glad you're here. I've been looking forward to this all week." His excitement was palpable, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Y/N felt a flicker of warmth in her chest at his words, a tiny spark of hope that maybe, just maybe, this night wouldn't be a complete disaster.
She hesitated for a brief moment before placing her hand in his, letting him help her into the car, the leather seats cool and smooth against her bare legs. The simple chivalrous gesture made her feel cared for, a welcome change from the emptiness that had consumed her.
As they climbed into the warmth of the Mercedes, Y/N felt a flicker of something she hadn't felt in a long time: hope. Maybe, just maybe, Liam could help her forget about Jack, even for a little while.
She glanced over at him as he settled into the driver's seat, admiring the strong line of his jaw and the way his hands gripped the steering wheel with easy confidence.
they drove away from the curb, Y/N leaned her head back against the headrest, her eyes drifting closed as she tried to block out the memory of Jack's words, the look of pity and regret on his face as he shattered her heart into a million tiny pieces. She forced herself to take deep, even breaths, focusing on the present moment and the possibility of a fresh start.
.…
Jacks POV
Jack stormed back into the apartment, slamming the door behind him with a force that rattled the walls. His heart heart throbbed violently, a nauseating mixture of anger, jealousy, and regret churning in his stomach as he replayed the conversation with Y/N over and over again in his mind.
He paced the length of the living room, his hands clenched into fists at his sides as he tried to calm the rage that threatened to consume him. The apartment felt too small, too cramped, the walls closing in on him as he struggled to breathe past the lump in his throat.
Everywhere he looked, he saw reminders of Y/N - the soft grey blanket she always curled up with on movie nights, the stack of her favorite books on the coffee table, the framed picture of the two of them at graduation, their arms around each other and their smiles wide and carefree.
He picked up the picture and stared at it for a long moment, his heart aching. He couldn't believe that everything was over. They had been together for so long, he couldn't imagine his life without her. He threw the picture across the room, where it shattered against the wall.
He sank down on the couch, his head in his hands.
With a growl of frustration, Jack snatched up his phone, his fingers shaking as he opened the tracking app and searched for Y/N's location. He knew it was wrong, knew that he had no right to invade her privacy like this, but he couldn't help himself. He needed to know where she was, needed to know that she was safe.
The app showed her moving through the city, the little red dot that represented her weaving through the streets at a steady pace. Jack watched it for a long moment, his heart clenching with every passing second, before he finally tore his eyes away, disgusted with himself.
He stalked into the kitchen, his mind racing as he tried to think of something, anything, to distract himself from the pain that threatened to tear him apart.
His eyes fell on the recipe box that Y/N had brought with her when she moved in, the faded index cards inside filled with her grandmother's handwriting and the smells of childhood memories.
Before he knew what he was doing, Jack pulled the box open and flipped through the cards, his fingers tracing the loops and whorls of each letter.
He stopped at a card that had 'Grandma's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies' written in large, loopy letters. It was Y/N's favorite recipe, the one she always used to make when she was feeling down or just wanted to fill the house with the scent of home.
Jack was pulling out ingredients, his hands moving on autopilot as he measured and mixed and stirred, his movements slow and deliberate. He measured the flour and sugar, added the butter and eggs, and then stirred in the chocolate chips.
The smell of vanilla and cinnamon filled the air, the warm, comforting scent of Y/N's favorite cookies wrapping around him like a hug.
Jack took a deep breath, willing himself to calm down. He could do this. He could make these cookies, and maybe, just maybe, it would help him to feel a little bit closer to Y/N.
But even as he worked, his mind wouldn't let him rest. He kept seeing the look on Y/N's face as he told her he didn't feel the same way, the way her eyes had filled with tears and her lips had trembled with the effort of holding back a sob.
He kept hearing the sound of her heels clicking on the floor as she walked away from him, the finality of it like a knife to the heart.
The cookies came out of the oven, golden brown and perfect, but Jack barely noticed. He was too busy pacing the length of the kitchen, his phone clutched in his hand as he checked Y/N's location over and over again, watching as the little red dot moved further and further away from him.
The hours ticked by, the night deepening outside the windows as Jack lost himself in his thoughts. The apartment was a mess, the kitchen counter covered in flour and sugar and dirty mixing bowls, but he couldn't bring himself to care.
All he could think about was Y/N, and the way he had ruined everything with his cowardice and his fear.
Finally, as the first rays of dawn began to peek through the curtains, Jack collapsed onto the couch, his body exhausted and his heart heavy with the weight of his mistakes.
He closed his eyes, the image of Y/N's tear-stained face burned into his mind like a brand, a reminder of everything he had lost and everything he had thrown away.
Jack knew that he had no one to blame but himself, knew that he had let his own insecurities and doubts get in the way of something that could have been beautiful.
And now, as he lay there in the silence of the empty apartment, the smell of vanilla and cinnamon still lingering in the air, he couldn't help but wonder if he had just made the biggest mistake of his life.
Jack stood at the edge of the rink, his eyes glued to his phone as he refreshed Y/N's location for what felt like the hundredth time that day.
Three days had passed since their argument, three days since she had walked out of the apartment and out of his life, and he still hadn't heard a word from her.
He had texted her countless times, his messages ranging from frantic apologies to desperate pleas for her to come home. But every time, he was met with silence, the little blue checkmarks next to his messages taunting him with their unresponsiveness.
The sound of skates scraping against the ice jolted him out of his thoughts, and he looked up to see Nico gliding towards him, a concerned expression on his face. Jack quickly shoved his phone into his pocket, hoping that his teammate hadn't noticed the way his hands were shaking.
"What's wrong with you, Jack?" Nico asked, his thick Swiss accent making the words sound even more blunt than they already were. "Did you break up with your girlfriend again?"
Jack flinched at the question, his heart clenching painfully in his chest. If only it were that simple, he thought bitterly. If only he had a girlfriend to break up with, instead of a best friend he had driven away with his own stupidity and cowardice.
"No," he said, his voice rough and hoarse from lack of sleep. "It's not that. It's... it's Y/N."
Nico's eyebrows shot up in surprise, his eyes widening as he took in the dark circles beneath Jack's eyes and the gauntness of his cheeks. "Y/N?" he repeated, his voice laced with confusion. "What happened with Y/N?"
Jack sighed, his shoulders slumping as he ran a hand through his hair. He hadn't told anyone about the argument, hadn't wanted to admit to the world how badly he had screwed things up.
But standing there on the ice, with Nico looking at him with such concern and understanding, he felt the words spilling out of him before he could stop them.
"I messed up," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I told her I didn't feel the same way about her, and now she's gone. She hasn't come home in three days, and she won't answer any of my texts or calls. I don't know what to do."
“You idiot,” he said, but his voice lacked any real malice. “Why would you say something like that to her? You know how much she cares about you.”
“I know,” Jack said miserably. “I just... I panicked. I didn't know what to say, and I didn't want to hurt her. But I guess I did anyway.”
Nico was silent for a moment, his eyes searching Jack's face as if he were trying to read the truth behind his words. Finally, he spoke, his voice gentle but firm.
"Jack," he said, his hand coming up to rest on his teammate's shoulder. "I know you care about Y/N, but you can't keep doing this to yourself. You need to give her space, need to let her come to you when she's ready."
Jack shook his head, his eyes stinging with the threat of tears. "I can't," he said, his voice cracking with emotion. "I can't lose her, Nico. She's my best friend, the most important person in my life. I don't know how to be without her."
Nico sighed, his eyes softening with sympathy. "I know," he said, his voice almost tender. "But you can't force her to forgive you, Jack. You have to let her come to that decision on her own. And in the meantime, you need to focus on taking care of yourself. You're no good to anyone if you're running yourself into the ground like this."
Jack knew that Nico was right, knew that he couldn't keep going on like this. But the thought of letting go, of giving up on the one person who meant everything to him, made his chest ache with a pain that felt almost physical.
"I don't know if I can do that," he said, his voice barely audible over the sound of his own heartbeat. "I don't know if I'm strong enough."
Nico smiled, his hand squeezing Jack's shoulder in a gesture of comfort and support. "You are," he said, his voice filled with quiet confidence.
"You're one of the strongest people I know, Jack. And you're not alone in this. Your team is here for you, and we'll support you every step of the way."
Jack felt a rush of gratitude at his teammate's words, a tiny flicker of hope sparking to life in his chest. He knew that the road ahead would be long and difficult, that there would be days when the pain would feel like too much to bear.
But with his friends by his side, and the memory of Y/N's smile to guide him, he knew that he could find his way back to the light, no matter how dark the path might seem.
"Thanks, Nico," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
Nico grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Probably drive yourself crazy," he said, his tone teasing. "But that's what friends are for, right?"
Jack laughed, the sound weak and watery, but genuine, nonetheless. And as he stepped back onto the ice, his skates cutting through the smooth surface with a newfound sense of purpose.
y/n’s POV
Y/N sat on Liam's couch, her phone clutched in her hand as she scrolled mindlessly through her social media feeds. The apartment was quiet, the only sound the distant hum of the shower running in the bathroom. She tried to focus on the pictures and posts flashing across her screen, but her mind kept drifting back to the one person she was trying so hard to forget.
Jack.
The name echoed in her mind like a heartbeat, a constant reminder of the pain and heartbreak she had left behind. It had been three days since she had walked out of their apartment, three days since she had last seen his face or heard his voice.
And yet, he was still there, lurking in the corners of her mind like a ghost she couldn't shake.
She knew that she was just using Liam as a distraction, a way to numb the ache in her chest and forget about the hole in her heart. But he was a good one, always there with a smile and a joke whenever she needed it most.
Whenever she found herself slipping back into thoughts of Jack, Liam would appear at her side, his presence a comforting reminder that she wasn't alone.
Y/N sighed, her fingers hovering over her phone screen as she debated whether to check Jack's social media. She knew it was a bad idea, knew that seeing his face would only make the pain worse. But a part of her couldn't help but wonder what he was doing, couldn't help but hope that maybe, just maybe, he was thinking of her too.
Before she could give in to the temptation, the sound of Liam's voice broke through her thoughts.
"I'm gonna hop in the shower, Y/N," he called out, his footsteps echoing down the hallway as he grabbed some clothes from his bedroom.
Y/N looked up from her phone, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Okay, don't take too long," she called back, her voice light and teasing.
She heard the bathroom door click shut, and then the sound of the shower turning on, the water pattering against the tiles in a steady rhythm. Y/N leaned back against the couch cushions, her eyes drifting closed as she tried to push away the thoughts of Jack that still lingered in her mind.
But even as she sat there, surrounded by the warmth and comfort of Liam's apartment, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. The ache in her chest was still there, a constant reminder of the love she had lost and the friendship she had left behind.
Jack's absence left a void that no amount of distraction could fill, and Y/n was beginning to realize that she needed to confront her feelings head-on. The sound of running water filled the room, Y/n closed her eyes, steeling herself for the inevitable confrontation with her emotions.
Her phone pinging broke the silence of his living room. "can’t wait to see you! mom and I gonna pick you up from the airport." The text from Luke read.
Y/N's heart sank as she read the text message, the words on the screen a stark reminder of the life she had left behind. In the whirlwind of emotions and distractions of the past few days, she had completely forgotten about their planned weekend trip back to Michigan.
She cursed under her breath, her mind already racing with the logistics of packing and getting to the airport on time. A glance at the clock on the wall told her it was already 10:30, and she knew that Jack would likely be home by now, probably wondering where she was and why she hadn't come back.
With a sigh, Y/N threw her phone into her purse and made her way over to the bathroom door. She hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering over the wood as she debated what to say. Finally, she knocked softly, her voice barely audible over the sound of the running water.
"Hey Liam," she called out, her tone apologetic. "I totally forgot I have a weekend trip to pack for. I need to head out."
There was a pause, and then the sound of the shower curtain being pulled back. Liam peeked his head out, his hair damp and his skin glistening with water droplets. He had a small smile on his lips, but Y/N could see the disappointment lurking in his eyes.
"Oh, okay," he said, his voice carefully neutral. "Do you need a ride? I can take you."
Y/N hesitated, the offer tempting in its simplicity. It would be so easy to let Liam drive her home, to put off the inevitable confrontation with Jack for just a little while longer.
But she knew that she couldn't keep running forever, knew that eventually, she would have to face the music and deal with the consequences of her actions.
"No, that's okay," she said, her voice soft but firm. "I can take a cab. I don't want to put you out."
Liam shook his head, his smile widening. "Don't be silly," he said, his tone light and teasing. "I was just getting out anyway. Let me drive you back home."
Y/N felt a rush of gratitude at his words, a warmth spreading through her chest at the kindness and generosity of his offer. She knew that she was lucky to have him in her life, knew that he would always be there for her, no matter what the future might hold.
"Okay," she said, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Thank you, Liam. I really appreciate it."
Liam grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Anything for you, Y/N," he said, his voice filled with a fondness that made her heart ache. "Just give me a minute to get dressed, and we'll be on our way."
Y/N nodded, her throat tight with emotion as she watched him disappear back into the bathroom. She knew that the road ahead would be long and difficult, that there would be moments of doubt and uncertainty.
And as she stood there, waiting for Liam to emerge from the bathroom, she couldn't help but feel a flicker of hope igniting in her chest.
Maybe, just maybe, the journey ahead would lead her back to the place she had always called home, back to the love that had always been waiting for her, just out of reach.
The hallway was shrouded in darkness, the only light coming from the soft glow of the emergency exit sign at the end of the corridor. Her footsteps echoed on the hardwood floor, each step bringing her closer to the door of the apartment she shared with Jack.
Y/N's heart raced as she stepped out of the elevator, the familiar scent of home filling her nostrils.
Liam followed close behind her, his presence a comforting warmth at her back. Y/N could feel the heat of his body radiating through the thin fabric of her shirt, and for a moment, she allowed herself to lean into him, to draw strength from his solid, steady presence.
But just as they were about to reach the door, Liam's hand shot out, his fingers wrapping around Y/N's wrist and pulling her back towards him. She let out a gasp of surprise, her heart leaping into her throat as she spun around to face him.
In the dim light of the hallway, Liam's face was shadowed, his features obscured by the darkness. But Y/N could still see the glint of his eyes, the curve of his lips as he smiled down at her. His breath ghosted across her cheek, warm and slightly sweet, like he had just taken a sip of hot cocoa.
Y/N's heart raced as Liam pulled her closer, his arm wrapping around her waist like a coil of heat. The hallway was shrouded in darkness, the only light coming from the soft glow of the elevator buttons behind them.
The air was thick with the scent of stale cigarette smoke and the faint aroma of cleaning products, a sharp contrast to the warm, spicy scent of Liam's cologne.
His face was mere inches from hers, his eyes dark and intense in the dim light. Y/N's heart pounded in her chest, the sound so loud that she was sure he could hear it too.
"I had a great few days with you," Liam murmured, his voice low and husky. His fingers trailed up her spine, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake. Y/N shivered, her skin tingling with a mixture of anticipation and nerves.
She knew that she should pull away, knew that this was a dangerous game to play. But there was something about the way Liam looked at her, something about the heat in his gaze and the strength of his touch, that made her feel alive in a way she hadn't felt in a long time.
The world around them seemed to fade away, the sound of the elevator and the hum of the fluorescent lights receding into the background.
All Y/N could focus on was the warmth of Liam's body against hers, the way his fingers tangled in her hair and his breath mingled with her own.
She didn't hear the soft ding of the elevator arriving on their floor, didn't hear the sound of footsteps echoing down the hallway. All she could hear was the pounding of her own heart, the rush of blood in her ears as Liam leaned in closer, his lips hovering just above her own.
Her head was spinning, her heart pounding with a mixture of anger, frustration, and desperation. It was time to stop chasing after a dream that would never come true, time to stop pining for a man who would never see her as anything more than a friend.
And in that moment, something inside her snapped. Before she could think twice, Y/N reached up and grabbed Liam's face, pulling him down to her level and crashing her lips against his.
The kiss was hot and hungry, filled with all the pent-up frustration and longing that had been building inside her for so long. Y/N poured everything she had into that kiss, every ounce of emotion and desire and desperate hope that maybe, just maybe, she could find with Liam what she had always wanted with Jack.
But even as Liam's arms wrapped around her waist, even as his tongue tangled with hers and his hands roamed over her body, Y/N knew that it wasn't enough.
The spark that she felt with Jack, the electricity that crackled between them every time they touched, was conspicuously absent.
Kissing Liam was nice, but it didn't set her soul on fire the way Jack's mere presence did.
Finally, Y/N pulled back, her chest heaving and her lips swollen. She looked up at Liam, her eyes searching his face for some sign of the connection she so desperately craved.
But all she saw was a man who cared for her, who wanted to be there for her, but who could never make her feel the way Jack did.
"I'll see you when I get back, Liam," she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "Three days. And I’ll come home."
Liam's face softened, his hands coming up to cup her cheeks. "Okay, Y/N," he murmured, his voice gentle and understanding. "Don’t forget about me." And so, with a final, shuddering breath, Y/N pulled back from Liam's embrace, her eyes shining with a new determination.
"Y/N?"
Y/N's shoulders tensed, her heart leaping into her throat as she spun around to face the source of the sound. And there, standing at the end of the hallway, his face a mask of shock and hurt, was Jack.
The sight of him hit her like a punch to the gut, the air rushing out of her lungs in a sharp gasp. He looked tired and worn, his hair disheveled and his eyes rimmed with red.
Even in the dim light of the hallway, she could see the pain etched into every line of his face, the betrayal and confusion swirling in his gaze.
"Jack," she breathed, her voice barely above a whisper. "What are you doing here?"
But even as the words left her lips, she knew they were a mistake. She could see the anger flashing in Jack's eyes, the way his hands clenched into fists at his sides.
In that moment, she knew that whatever fragile peace they had managed to maintain over the past few days was about to come crashing down around them.
The hallway suddenly felt too small, the walls closing in on her like a vice. The scent of cigarette smoke and cleaning products was overwhelming, making her head spin and her stomach churn. And still, Jack stood there, his gaze boring into hers like a laser, his presence a physical force that she could feel in every cell of her body.
Y/N opened her mouth to speak, to try to explain or apologize or beg for forgiveness. But before she could get a word out she thought back to their fight. The things jack had said to her in this same cover of darkness.
Jack brushed past, his steps leading him into the apartment, the door slamming shut behind him with a resounding thud. Y/N felt like she had been punched in the gut, the air rushing out of her lungs in a sharp gasp.

I love her so much... (part 2 [au])
(Jenna Ortega x fem! reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: What if Jenna had followed you that night, and tried to hold you back? Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 2 [au] Warnings: angst (just a little bit I swear) (English isn't my first language, I'm sorry if there are mistakes or if something doesn't make sense TvT)
Emma waited until your sobs stopped to take a step back and lead you to her car. Your eyes were red and puffy from crying that much.
"Where are we going...?"
"To my apartment. I'm not letting you alone after this"
"Y/n, wait...!"
Jenna's voice made you freeze just as you were about to get in Emma's car. You turned around slowly, trying to hold back your tears.
"I'm sorry...! I'm so sorry, for everything! I love you more than anything...I'm sorry I've been neglecting you lately... work had been overwhelming for everyone, and Percy asked me to help him- I'm not trying to find myself excuses...! I- I should have talked to you about it instead of keeping it all to myself... I'm sorry Y/n..."
She seemed genuinely sorry. You wanted to give ger a second chance, you really did. But the little voice in your head was telling you that she might hurt you again.
Taking your silence as a negative reaction, she started to walk away. Your heart ached at the sight, and you found yourself taking a step forward, almost instinctively.
"Go." Emma told you "Follow her"
You look at your friend and nodded.
"Thank you. For everything" you said with a grateful smile, before running after the brunette
"Jenna!"
She froze, not certain she really heard you call her, and turned around hesitantly, eyes full of hope when you stopped in front of her.
"I... I don't want it to stop... us, I mean"
"Are you.... are you giving me a second chance...? Y-you still love me, even after what I did...?"
"Of course I still love you..." you reassured her "Now let's go home, hm...?"
"Wait I- here..." she started, handing you the box you gave her earlier "I don't deserve it..."
"Jenna-"
"No, Y/n... I- I've been such a bad girlfriend, I don't deserve any gift... But I promise I'll get better, to be worth your love..."
You stayed silent for a second, before nodding and taking the box. Your fingers brushed over hers.
"We can go now" she said quietly
You nodded again, and you both walked back to your shared apartment.
Once you got there, you got ready to go to bed. You had put on your pajamas, and slipped under the covers, soon followed by Jenna. She stayed on her side of the bed, not sure you would want her close.
That caused your lips to curl up slightly, touched by her thoughtfulness, and you moved closer to her, snuggling in her arms. It was the first time in weeks that you really slept together, in each other's arms.
It had been so long that you melted in her embrace. Her arms felt so nice around you, her perfume invading your nostrils felt so right, and so did her whole body pressed against yours.
It didn't take you long to fall asleep, a smile on your face.
At the sight of your sleeping figure, Jenna felt a wave of relief wash over her; she was afraid she'd never get to see you like that again.
"I missed you, I'm sorry..." she whispered, placing a soft kiss on your forehead "I love you..."
<><><><> ♡ <><><><>
A few months had passed since that night, and everything was back to normal. Your relationship with Jenna was doing better; she was here - as much as her job allowed her - and she was doing her best to show you how much she loved you, how much she cared for you.
Tonight, you were supposed to have dinner together at 8. It was now 11, and she was still not here. You had texted her, called her, but didn't get any answer.
Your stomach flipped at the thought of things turning out like it did months ago. You couldn't do it again.
You decided to wait for her, determined to talk to her, and when she finally arrived - around 1am - you sat up in your shared bed. You waited for her to enter the room; she seemed surprised to see you were still awake.
"I thought we would spend the night together..." you said "What happened?"
"... Nothing" she replied, shaking her head
"No, it's not nothing. I called you, I texted you... you're doing it again, Jenna..."
The look in your eyes made her realize she fucked up again. Her worst fear was becoming real, again.
"I- it's just..." she sighed "I'm a bit overwhelmed... with work, with the responsibilities, with Percy..."
At the sight of tears forming in her eyes, you took her hand in yours.
"I'm here for you, you can vent if you need to..." you gave her hand a reassuring squeeze
"It's just... there always are unexpected problems at work, we're under a lot of pressure lately, more than usually... and I need to come up with important things for next week, and I still don't have anything... and Percy's always asking me for help for stupid things...! And even if I want to say no, he always manages to convince me, and I don't even notice it! I'm so tired, Y/n..."
You pulled her in for a warm, comforting hug, rubbing her back gently.
"It's gonna be okay... I'm here, I'll do my best to help you with that... You should have talked to me about it..."
"I'm sorry I- I didn't want to bother you with that..."
"You never bother me Jenna, I-"
You got cut off by your girlfriend's phone suddenly buzzing. She gave you an apologetic look as she picked up.
"Hello? ... ... What? No listen Percy, I- ... ..."
She looked up at you, biting her nails nervously. The concern in your eyes, as well as the warmth of your hand on hers, and your love for her gave her the courage she needed.
"No, stop. I'm not available right now. ... ... It's 1 in the morning, Percy. I'm not at your disposal, nor your personal helper. ... ... Find someone else to help you. Bye."
She hung up with a sigh, and when her gaze met yours again, your eyes were full of pride, love, and relief. You were proud she was able to stand up for herself, to stop getting 'controlled' by him. And you didn't miss the opportunity to let her know that.
"I'm sorry I wasn't able to do it sooner... I- I'm sorry I almost fucked everything up between us because of that... But I won't make the mistake again. From now on, I'll try not to keep everything for myself. I- I don't want to lose you. I don't see my life without you..."
You felt you heart flutter at her words. Hearing her say that made you so happy... so happy, and so relieved.
The few doubts that had popped in your head earlier had completely disappeared now. You were sure you could trust her not to hurt you anymore.
You reached in your bedside table for the box you had given her on your anniversary and handed it to her again. She gave you a questioning look, visibly confused.
"When you gave it back to me, you said you didn't deserve it. Well, I think you deserve it now" you said gently, as she took the box "I've been wanting to give it to you for a little while, actually..."
Her eyes were shining when she looked at you after opening the box, and she had a big smile on her face.
"Do you like it?"
"I love it! I- it's so beautiful...!" she threw her arms around your neck and pulled you in for a tight hug "Thank you... Thank you so much!" she pulled away to give you a sweet smile "Can you help me putting it on?"
"Of course!"
You carefully took the necklace out of the box and waited for her to turn around, before moving her hair to the side. You were quick to attach the jewelry around her neck, and placed a gentle kiss on her soft skin once you were finished.
"Here you go, my love"
<><><><> ♡ <><><><>
Almost a year and a half later, you found yourself in a quite familiar position: crying in Emma's arms.
"It's okay... just- try to breathe, please"
"I- I'm just... I'm so..."
"I know, I know. Everything's gonna be okay"
You pulled away at her words, taking a deep breath and wiping your tears carefully.
"Yeah, you're right... Everything's gonna be perfectly fine"
"That's what I want to hear!"
Suddenly, the door of the room opened, revealing a nervous Hunter.
"What are you doing?" he yelled-whispered "We're waiting for you...!"
"She's ready, don't panic!" Emma replied, before turning to you "Just breathe, and it will be fine, okay?"
You nodded, and she gave you a brief hug, before exiting the room to join the others, leaving you with Hunter.
"Are you ready?" he asked gently, offering you his arm
"Y-yeah, I think..."
You both made your way to the main room and waited behind the door. When the music started, you took a deep breath.
All eyes were on you walking down the aisle, arm hooked under Hunter's. Yours, however, were glued to the gorgeous brunette ahead of you: your soon to be wife, Jenna Ortega.

Rhea Ripley x Reader (Moving In Headcanon)
Hey everyone! So I am still figuring some stuff out here, mostly just when I wanna post something. I think im gonna try once every other day. So today for example i'll upload this but i won't tomorrow. Make's sense? Good. (im just gonna assume you agree with me). Alright anyways, Happy reading everyone!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Tumblr media
. Too say you were nervous would be a understatement.
. Rhea asked you to move in with her a couple of weeks ago, she just hasn't had the time off to help you move.
. So when you and her called and she said she'd be over tomorrow to you help move, you were excited but nervous.
. Excited cause you were moving in with your girlfriend, nervous cause well, you were moving in with your girlfriend.
. It was a big step in your guys relationship, who wouldn't be nervous about that?
. When you heard a knock on your apartment door and opened to see your girlfriend, smiling with a couple of spare boxes in hand ready to help out, your nervs disappeared almlost instantly.
. You didn't really wanna take any of the furniture from the apartment with you, not that they were bad or uncomfortable, they were just very worn out.
. You also feel like rhea didn't want them either considering she said "Yeah, that chair is not going within a 100 mile radius of my place, look's like it'll fall over any second."
. When you sat down in it to show it was fine, and you tried to rock back the chair broke, which caused you to fall off it.
. You quickly got up off the floor whilst rubbing the back of your head where you landed and your cheeks tinted red with embarrassment as the chair wanted to prove you wrong apparently.
. While rhea was hunched over laughing her ass off.
. After calming down her laughter and checking the back of your to make sure you were okay, you two decided to get to work.
. You were in your bathroom making sure packed what you had, you didn't have too much so that didn't take that long whilst rhea was going through your closet in your room.
. "HA! That's where that went!" You heard her say, and when walked back into your bedroom, you saw rhea holding a motionless in white hoodie.
. "I was planning on giving that back next time i saw you." Rhea gave you a look of 'Really?' and she slung the hoodie over her shoulder for safe keeping.
. It didn't take you guys long at all really, you didn't have that much stuff for your tiny apartment.
. When you got to rhea's to move all your stuff in, you saw rhea take the box of clothes upstairs.
. "Where you taking those babe?" "Too put them in our closet." She said without looking back and kept going up the stair's and you couldn't help the big smile that broke across your face.
. Although that smile quickly fell when you saw what Barry had in his mouth.
. "Barry! Put that down, that's my favorite book!!"
. Yep safe to say life was going to be a tad bit more crazy moved in with rhea, but you were all for it.

"Hey kid, what's up?"
Caroline shifts her gaze away from her laptop when she hears Victor's voice. He's hopping off the last step just as she turns to look, and once he realizes he's gotten her attention, he gives her an exaggerated wave. He can be such a goofball sometimes, and if he's this energetic at forty-seven, she can't help wondering what he must've been like at her age. She smiles. Nanna Grace must've had an interesting time of it while he was growing up. She probably had to figure out ways to keep him from literally bouncing off the walls.
Victor crosses the short distance from the foot of the stairs to where Caroline is sitting at the kitchen island and settles himself on the stool next to hers. Now that he's close enough, she notices how tousled he is. His silver hair is sticking out in every direction, and it's obvious he'd been sleeping in the rumpled t-shirt and sweatpants he's wearing.
Evidently, he just woke up and couldn't wait to greet her. She loves that about him. He's always happy to see her, even if they've only been apart for a handful of hours.
She has to confess she's happy to see him too. She loves both her parents, but Victor has always been her favourite. They bonded on the very first day they'd met, and Caroline can't imagine a life without him now.
"I'm making some notes," she tells him. "For my Media Studies project. How was work last night?"
"It was good. Surprisingly uneventful, but I'm definitely not complaining about a quiet night shift. How was school? And swim practice?"
"School was... school." She shrugs slightly. "Swim practice was awesome. Jack wants me to be on the relay team this season. He says I'm the fastest, so he wants me to be the last swimmer in the relay, but we still have to figure out the logistics 'cause I can't see when my teammate touches the wall."
"Maybe she can just yell 'go' or something as soon as she touches it," Victor suggests. "That's allowed, right?"
"I don't know," Caroline admits. "Jack and Matilda should know, though. I mean, knowing the rules is part of the coaches' job. I can ask tomorrow."
"Good idea. Did Grandpa Julian pick you up from practice?"
"Yup, and he told me to tell you that Nanna's still waiting for you to let her know when you can paint their kitchen."
"Oh crap!" Victor smacks his palm lightly against his forehead. "I was supposed to get back to her on that weeks ago. I was gonna see if I could recruit your uncle Leo to help me with it, but I totally forgot. I should've written it down."
Caroline laughs. "You know, you should probably write most things down."
"What can I say? Sometimes I'm easily distracted."
"Just sometimes?"
"Have I ever mentioned your sense of humour is just like Yuri's? Anyway, I remember the really important stuff without having to write it down. That should count for something, shouldn't it?"
"Do you remember it'll be Yuri's birthday in a couple weeks?"
It's Victor's turn to laugh. "I've been remembering Yuri's birthday since long before you came along. It's a super important day, and I'd be in big trouble if I forgot that."
"Isn't everybody's birthday a super important day?"
"Well, yeah," Victor agrees. "But when Yuri was born, the doctors all said he probably wouldn't live to see his first one, so it's not just a birthday to him. It's a celebration of being alive."
"Really?" Caroline is intrigued. She hadn't known that about Yuri. "Why would the doctors say that?"
"Because he came way too early and he was really sick. Babies who are born as early as he was don't always make it, even with the medical technology we have. Back then, their chances were even lower than they are these days."
"But he survived."
"He did, and that's absolutely worth celebrating," Victor says. "Incidentally, while we're on the subject of Yuri, have we heard from him since this morning?"
"Actually, he texted me just before you came downstairs. He's coming home early, and he wanted to know if we wanted him to pick up food on the way."
"And you said yes?"
"Yup. I said pizza. Is that okay?"
"Sounds great," Victor says. "Want to help me make a salad and some protein drinks to go with it? And while we're doing that, you can tell me all about your project. Didn't you mention something yesterday about a podcast?"
"Forest and Camellia are doing a podcast. I'm making a documentary."
"That sounds ambitious. What's your documentary going to be about?"
"About my life," she says. "I'm calling it Caroline and Company."
She slides off her stool at almost the same moment Victor gets down from his. While he goes to the fridge to take out some vegetables for their salad, she moves her laptop to the coffee table in the living room. It's not that there's any shortage of counter space, but she doesn't like leaving her computer unattended on something as tall as the kitchen island.
By the time she returns, Victor has lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, a yellow bell pepper, a cucumber and a red onion lined up on the counter. There's a small brick of cheese as well, and some eggs they'd boiled the day before. To Victor, salad isn't a sad bowl of lettuce; it's a culinary work of art, and she's certain he considers himself one of the masters of the fine art of the salad.
Caroline loves cooking with Victor, regardless of what they happen to be making. For as long as she can remember, he's encouraged her to help him in the kitchen. She recalls baking cake and cookies during her first Christmas with him and Yuri, when she had to stand on a step-stool to reach the counter and accidentally spilled milk everywhere. Victor hadn't scolded her for that. He hadn't even seemed particularly bothered. He'd just cleaned up the mess, and when their baking session was done, he'd hugged her tight and praised her for being "the best little baker ever."
Victor assigns her the tasks of shredding the lettuce and grating the cheese. He chops the other vegetables with a speed and precision that scares her a little. She considers herself to be fairly confident with knives, but she has to take her time and make sure she can see what she's cutting. If she did it the way Victor does, she thinks there's a real possibility she might lose the end of a finger.
While they work, she describes the details of her project to him, how she and her classmates have the whole school year to complete their big assignment, and how they're building a website to showcase their work.
"So, you're going to tell your life story in a series of videos," Victor says when she stops talking. "Here... pass me those eggs. Do you want to get started on the smoothies?"
"Sure." She slides the bowl of boiled eggs across the countertop toward him before wandering over to the fridge. "What kind of smoothies do we want? We've got bananas and peaches, and there are some strawberries left."
"You can pick," he says.
She chooses strawberries and a banana and takes them out of the fridge along with a container of yogurt. "It's going to be more than just me in the videos."
"Oh?"
"I want to interview Obā-chan in Kyoto and record our video chat," she elaborates. "I'd like to interview you and Yuri too, and maybe Jack and some of my friends. Also Laila and Dr. Reid-Mayfield, 'cause I feel like we wouldn't even be a family if it wasn't for them."
"I can't speak for anybody else, but you can definitely interview me," Victor says. "I'm sure Yuri will let you interview him too, and I'd be really surprised if Laila said no. Getting Dr. Reid-Mayfield into it might be a hard sell, but it never hurts to ask."
"Cool," Caroline says. "Another idea I had was to let people have the camera and make a video by themselves. You know, 'cause it might be too awkward for some people to talk about me right in front of me. Like, I don't think Forest would enjoy being interviewed on camera, but he might record something if he could just be alone in his room."
Victor pauses in the middle of peeling the shell off an egg and nods. "Yeah, it's definitely easier to get your thoughts out when you're in a room by yourself. I always found it better to make journal entries when there was nobody else around."
"Writing in a journal is different, though. You're not saying your thoughts aloud."
"I didn't say I was writing."
Caroline frowns, but quickly tries to smooth her expression when she remembers that it'll probably lead to her having a pronounced crease between her eyebrows some day, just like Obā-chan. Expression notwithstanding, she's still confused. She glances up from her half-peeled banana to meet her father's eyes. "But, you said you were journalling?"
"Yeah," Victor affirms. "We were. A long time ago, Yuri and I kept a video journal for over a year."
"Really? Did you do it for any special reason?"
"It was supposed to be a travel journal and it was only meant to be my journal originally," he says. "I had this wild plan to go on some big world adventure, and I wanted to capture all my experiences."
"But I guess you didn't actually have a world adventure?"
"I sort of had one. I was already living in Japan with Yuri, so there was that, and then I took a trip to Sulani on my own, but it didn't exactly turn out the way I expected."
"What happened?"
"Aside from nearly drowning during a thunderstorm, you mean?" He finishes shelling the third egg, and then deftly slices each one in half. "I found out how expensive recreational travel is. Plus, I missed Yuri so bad that I vowed I'd never go anywhere without him again. Oh, and while I was away, our landlord evicted us and we had less than a month to move."
"That's... a lot."
"It was overwhelming for both of us. Yuri started using my account around that time to record his own feelings about everything, and our journal kind of evolved from there."
"Do you still have it?" Caroline inquires. The fact that her parents kept a video journal once upon a time is a revelation to her. She never could've guessed they'd done that, and now she's beyond curious to know what they'd been through and how they'd felt and what they'd said.
Victor seems to think about it for a second, but finally says, "The account probably still exists, but even if it doesn't, I'm positive Yuri downloaded the whole thing onto a USB drive at some point."
"Could I... would it be okay if I watched it?"
This time, Victor's silence is longer before he responds. "Let me talk to Yuri about that, all right? You know we never hide anything from you, but that was a really dramatic year in our lives and we talked about some heavy stuff in those videos. I think you can handle it, but we're not going to show it to you unless we're both okay with the idea. Does that make sense?"
"Yeah, it does," she says. "I suppose it's kind of like asking somebody if you can read their diary."
"It's exactly like that," Victor says. "It's very personal. We recorded it like there was an audience, I guess because there was originally supposed to be one, but once we started posting about something deeper than mermaid lore and sailing lessons, we made it private. The only people who ever saw it after that were Yuri and me, and Yuri might not be comfortable with you seeing it now."
"I understand."
"I'll talk to him about it tonight, and I'll get back to you once we make a decision."
"Okay," Caroline agrees.
"There's something I want you to do in the meantime," he adds, and the tone of his voice has suddenly gone serious.
"What is it?"
"I need you to think carefully about whether you really, truly want to watch our video journal, if we do agree to let you."
"What do you mean?"
"It's like I said. I believe you're mature enough to grasp most of what happened, and I think you're responsible enough to come to us and talk about anything that upsets you or that you maybe don't quite get, but..." He lets the sentence fade, as if he's trying to work out how to say what he wants to say next. "If you watch it, you might learn some stuff about Yuri and me that you'll end up wishing you didn't know, or that you'll wish you'd waited longer to find out. It can be strange, discovering things about your parents. Confusing and unsettling and... weird."
She wants to ask him what she might find out that'd be so strange and upsetting, but she suddenly thinks better of it and closes her mouth around the barely-formed question. If she could learn it from the video journal and he was reluctant about giving her access to that, it's highly unlikely he's just going to tell her. And maybe he's right anyway, she thinks. Maybe she would be better off not knowing.
The older she gets, the more she accepts that her parents aren't superheroes. They're amazing, smart, strong and kind, and they're unquestionably her heroes, but they mess up sometimes and they're just as human as she is. As Grandpa Julian likes to say, 'they put their trousers on one leg at a time'.
But, even with that comprehension, she can't say she's one hundred percent ready to let her childhood perception of them go completely. Her curiosity is burning a hole through her willpower, but she knows she has to temper her curiosity and impulsiveness with reason. Victor taught her that, and his admonition to think before rushing into a situation has saved her from trouble loads of times. Advice that's always proved to be so good can't suddenly have gone bad.
"I'm sorry," she says. "I shouldn't have asked."
"Come here," Victor says. He moves toward her with his arms open, and she doesn't even hesitate for a heartbeat before stepping into his waiting embrace. She wraps her own arms around him and leans her head against his chest.
Inside Victor's hug is the safest place in the world, and it's consoling enough on its own, but that doesn't prevent him from offering her words of reassurance anyway. "It's all right, sweet Caroline. It's okay that you asked. I don't want you to feel bad for wanting to know. It's just... I also don't want you to jump into something you're not ready for."
"I know," she says. "I'll think about it, I promise."
"Good," he says. "You should give some thought to your school project too. I think it's awesome that you want to tell your story, but the process of learning about yourself isn't always easy either."
"Do you think I shouldn't do it? I could probably come up with a new project idea. Mr. Blanchet already has my proposal, but the real deadline isn't till this Friday. I could—"
"No," Victor stops her gently, mid-sentence. "I think you should. In fact, I'm super proud of you for tackling a project like this. It takes a lot of courage."
"But you said it wouldn't be easy."
"Yes, and that's why you're brave for wanting to," he says. "You already know, just because something isn't easy, that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it or that it won't be worth it. It just means you should be careful and you should be prepared."
"To... to find out stuff about myself that I might not like?" she asks cautiously
"Maybe."
"When you and Yuri were keeping your journal, did you learn things about yourself that you didn't like?"
He tightens his arms around her for a second or two, and she gets the sense that he's doing it involuntarily. "I did," he answers quietly, "And it was really hard. I was scared and angry and sad, sometimes all at once, and sometimes I felt like a total failure at... life, basically. It was a struggle to wrap my head around it and even more of a struggle to change, and I cried a lot."
"You still cry a lot, Victor."
Unexpectedly, he bursts out laughing, and this time when he squeezes her it's clearly deliberate. She feels the tension leave his body, and suddenly she relaxes too. She hadn't even been aware of how rigid she was.
Victor kisses the top of her head. "No such thing as a serious moment with you around, is there?"
"Sorry," she says, but she isn't. She hadn't intended to make him laugh, but the sound of his laughter is so much better than what she likes to call his 'grown-up voice', and she's relieved that he's not upset.
"Cheeky little mermaid," he says in fake exasperation, and she feels warm inside at hearing the childhood nickname her grandfather Kenji — her adorable old Ojī-chan — had given her. It's mostly only Yuri and Ojī-chan who call her that, so it somehow feels special when Victor uses it.
"I can be serious," she tells him. "And I really will consider everything you said."
"I know you will. You're smart and I trust you to make good choices," he says. "If you're ever unsure about anything, though, you can talk to me or Yuri about it."
"Thanks," she says.
After one more affectionate squeeze, he lowers his arms and steps back. They slip into a companionable silence after that, finishing up their dinner preparations before Yuri arrives home from his office.
Caroline has no clue what might be going on in Victor's mind, but hers is tangled with the threads of their conversation. Part of her is anxious over the possibility of uncovering some not-so-pleasant truth about herself, but another part is eager to reveal the pieces of her past that are still a mystery to her. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time, and she has the feeling that no matter what might happen. this project is going to mark a defining point in her life. Once she begins, she'll never be able to un-know all the things she'll discover, and she'll never be able to go back to being an innocent, ignorant child again.
But, it's okay, she tells herself. It's like Victor says; growing up is a journey. And if I don't step forward, how will I ever get there?

Klay Concept: He arrives home after a game to you relaxing your stress away in the bath and jumps in suit clothes on to talk away your stress & fears.
It was rare that you weren't in the stands cheering Klay on during one of his games, so when you texted him that afternoon, as he was warming up at the arena, that you weren't feeling up to leaving the house, he understood, but couldn't help but worry about you.
You told him you were okay, just tired, a little harmless white lie because you knew he needed to focus on playing well. Truthfully, you were stressed beyond belief. Work had been kicking your ass the past couple of weeks, and trying to balance your career with being present in Klay's life was a second job on its own. You didn't like to complain because you knew how lucky you were to be able to pursue your professional dreams without the pressure of expenses, but every once in a while, it got to be too much, and you just needed a moment to sit in how you felt.
You ordered in for dinner and watched the Warriors play from the comfort of your couch, and when the game was over, you decided to take a bath. Your bathroom had a huge clawfoot tub that Klay had surprised you with for your second wedding anniversary, and you used it as often as possible.
Before getting in, you checked your phone notifications to see a text from Klay telling you he'd be skipping press and coming straight home.
You sunk into the hot water, immediately starting to feel the knots in your muscles begin to unravel, and you slipped your headphones over your head, hoping to block out the world as you relaxed. You allowed your eyes to flutter close, sinking further down against the porcelain tub.
Your eyes shot open as you felt a figure standing over you, and before you could even get a word out, Klay was stepping into the tub, not even bothering to take his game day suit off first. "Klay! What the hell are you doing?" The smile he gave you as he sat at the opposite end immediately made you melt. He looked happy, coming off a win, and that was the only thing you ever cared about; how happy he was, because there wasn't a day that he didn't make you happy as well.
"You didn't answer my calls. I had to take drastic measures to get your attention." He grabbed at your ankle, trying to pull you closer to him, but you playfully kicked him away with your foot. "What's going on? Bad day?" You raked your hands up and down your arms, avoiding eye contact. Klay scratched at his beard, watching you intently.
"That was a really expensive suit." You played with the hem of the jacket that was floating atop the water. "Don't change the subject."
You let out an exasperated huff, finally looking at him. "I'm just stressed, a lot going on right now, and I needed some time to myself." His face softened as you spoke, and you knew he was more understanding than you deserved sometimes. "Why didn't you say anything? I could have gone to the apartment or something." Klay bought an apartment in downtown Oakland years ago, and he used it whenever he was too tired to make the commute back to the house.
"I didn't want you to worry."
"It doesn't work like that. You're my wife, I'm always worried about you." He pulled your leg again, and this time you let him, settling your back against his chest, his arms wrapping around your chest. "But I'll worry a lot less if you tell me what's going on, okay?" He pressed a kiss to his temple, and you nodded. "Alright, I'll leave you alone."
"Oh, the bath has been ruined. You brought your outside clothes into the tub." You made a gagging noise, making Klay chuckle.

Just watched the first episode of Loki s2.
THEY'RE SO FUCKING CUTE.
*spoilers*
Mobius is so in love with Loki it's painful. His whole world got turned upside down and the timelines are falling apart. All he cares about is Loki. Even when Loki is basically bouncing off the wall terrified because something bad is coming. Mobius just doesn't care because it isn't important right now. He doesn't immediately start berating Loki about what happened at the end of time. He trusts Loki and cares about him (Sylvie even pointed that out last season).
So after trying to calm Loki down he takes him to OB (who is having a contest with Casey on who can be the most adorable). When they finally get an answer on how to fix the issue they both want to try something else. Loki doesn't want Mobius to lose his skin and Mobius wants the same... and I guess not wanting Loki to die of course. Also the bickering of who has it worse was perfect.
Regardless when the time comes Mobius steps up to the plate without complaint... besides writing "skin?" on a dusty computer and giving a thumbs up. Which was so iconic and I love that for him.
I also desperately need to know what Loki was going to say to Mobius in case he didn't make it. I'm sure he was still thinking about The One Who Remains and Sylvie. He was probably going to tell Mobius to find Sylvie but I need to believe he was going to have a heart-to-heart with Mobius. Maybe talk about fully what happened. All he told Mobius is that Sylvie and he fought, they tied (she won), and that he is coming. Loki is still unsure about the decision he made. He wanted to discuss it with Sylvie but Sylvie had already made her choice and decided to assume the worst of Loki. I think he has a lot of guilt. He either tried to do what he thought was right and would have doomed the timelines if he succeeded in stopping Sylvie or he almost did the right thing but couldn't commit to stopping Sylvie due to wanting a version of himself to be happy thus dooming the timelines. Basically, he's worried that he backed the wrong option and almost ruined everything (either because he believed that a dictator is better than a whole multiverse war or deep down he wanted control of everything) or backed the right option and failed because of his own selfishness.
--okay sorry back to my point. He knows Mobius deserves to know the truth. Hell, he probably wants Mobius to tell him he made the right choice or scold him for being selfish.
So in that moment where Loki may become lost to time (whatever that means. Death? An eternity of solitude, not belonging anywhere?) he apologizes. He admits that he might of fucked up big time and that Mobius was probably wrong to trust him. That maybe Lokis are incapable of doing good even when they're given free will. Maybe he really just wanted the throne.
Mobius is confused by the outburst and has no idea what Loki is even talking about but that doesn't matter right now. He sets his hand on Loki's shoulder immediately shutting the demigod up. A reassuring smile appears on his face.
"Tell me about it when you get back."
Tears well up in Loki's eyes. "But I ruined your life and now you're risking yours to save me. You deserve to know-"
"Know what? You keep forgetting I know everything about you. I wasn't lying when I told you that you could be good. I stole that line from your brother by the way. All you ever needed was someone to believe in you, not a throne. You aren't the same Loki that I met a week ago. You were a God that never questioned his actions because he believed them to always be just. Now you're a man terrified of doing the wrong thing. No matter the fallout we'll figure it out together. First, let's put an end to this whole time-slipping thing... it's honestly making my stomach flip."
Loki is too stunned to speak. It makes no sense. How can two people who know him so well have two different opinions of him? Why does another version of himself believe he can't be trusted while the man who studied every lifetime of every version of Loki trusts Loki with his life (skin?). Loki has to make it make sense. "It bothers you when I am in pain?" He asks still in a haze.
Mobius who had walked away to watch OB work doesn't look up from the control panel. "You're a jackass most of the time but that doesn't mean I enjoy watching you get yanked from past to present."
Loki's own words echo in his mind; 'I just want you to be okay.' The prune stick slips from his hands and clatters to the floor.
Mobius turns his head startled by the noise. "Loki," he notices the tears in Loki's eyes, "what's wrong?"
"I-" Before he can form a sentence a sharp pain shoots across his body as it contorts in ways it shouldn't. As the pain subsides and he gains control of his body he notices his surroundings have changed. Or rather the time has changed. Loki is greeted with an empty dark room.
He looks at the device OB had given him and reality sets in. Pruning stick. His eyes frantically scan the floor for something he left in the present. Of course, it wouldn't be here in the past. As his eyes shoot towards the door something catches his peripheral vision. Something written on the side of a monitor.
Skin?
But that's not possible. Mobius wrote that in the present. It can't be here in the past. Unless he's not in the past. He has never been pulled to the future before. He's running out of time. It's now or never.
Loki runs through the TVA searching for a hunter but only finds empty hallways. The device shakes in his trembling hand. The gage is almost back into the red. He's failed again. He'll never see Mobius again. The old variant of Loki was right; all he does is bring pain and unhappiness everywhere he goes. Glorious purpose, what a cruel joke.
A phone rings close by breaking his trance. With nothing else to do, he slowly makes his way to the odd occurrence.
Then he sees a pair of hands pry open a door. It's Sylvie. Her hair is long and she seems... happy? Emotions again well up in him as their last interaction stings in his mind.
Before Loki can talk he feels an immense pain starting at his back radiate throughout his body. He's felt this exact burning pain before and it isn't the time slipping. For the second time, Loki is pruned while staring at Sylvie. He has no idea who is the responsible party but he doesn't care. All he can do is shut his eyes tightly and pray that the plan works. He wants --no-- he needs to see them again, to make sure they stay safe.
The next thing Loki feels is weightlessness. Is this death? He got pruned too late, right? Surely the universe making him see Sylvie again was punishment.
When he gains the courage to open his eyes he is moving through space at an alarming rate towards someone in a space suit. The person in the suit turns and he sees Mobius and the blast doors closing. Loki swears he sees Mobius smile as the men collide with so much force they are thrown through the doors just as they close.
As they lay on the floor neither are quick to remove their arms from each other. Loki uses one arm to prop himself up slightly while using the other to hold on to Mobius. As he stares at Mobius so many things come to Loki's mind.
I'm glad you're okay.
You still have your skin.
I came back.
Instead of saying any of those things his stomach turns and he remembers Sylvie. "We have to find Sylvie," is all that he can bare. Love is a dagger after all. If he doesn't reach out it can't disappear again.

Chrissy help how do you keep motivation for such huge writing projects?? I've seen you posting about abot for a long time but I just clicked it and it's got like 360k words. My guy you are incredible and if you've got secrets to share I'd be very interested. Major props to you
(ABoT)
I'm hoping to resurrect Dickinsonian-era "paid by the word" writing gigs and retire off ABoT Kidding! kidding! I make 0 dollars and 0 cents off ABoT do not sue me IP holders.
More genuinely it's a couple things I guess. One big and simple one being just--I really like the story. It's long because there are a lot of parts I like and wanted to tell. Another is spite, because for a long period of time between 2017-2020 I thought I would never be able to come back to the story so it's something of a "fuck you look what I made anyway."
But I really REALLY think the biggest part to this all was the (tough, but doable) process of learning to be okay with this story taking however long it's gonna take, and being however long it's gonna be.
Back in the days when Tumblr was really a hub for fandom, fandom attention was extremely fleeting, and when you had any of it, it felt like it was always moments away from vanishing. Tourmaline, my 80k Steven Universe fic, I wrote in the span of just over 2 months. I had a chapter out roughly every 2-3 days for that entire sprint. I'm proud of pulling that off. But my main motivation for doing that was absolutely the fear of losing people's attention and interest if I dawdled even a little.
Early-days ABoT was like that too. The first 9 or 10 chapters were all posted in intervals of about 2-3 days apart. I was staying up extremely late to do this which wasn't good for me and I was doing it because I was afraid of losing people's interest and I was getting more intimidated the more I realized how long ABoT would likely be. And then for school and life reasons, my update schedule absolutely had to slow. And I was having a bad time because it was like I could feel myself losing readers and losing relevance, and the backlash was growing, and even when I was finding the time to write I'd started burning out hard on my passion for the story. I'd get frustrated with my own plot and characters, and you can't write a good passion project while frustrated with the characters.
And then I kinda quietly admitted defeat because the stress and the backlash were too much to handle and I couldn't wring anymore of this from myself. After a 1 year, 2 years, I was pretty much sure my readership was long gone. I still thought about the story constantly! I still cared. I just figured I'd missed my window and would never be able to come back except to backlash.
Then just shy of 3 years, I said "fuck it, actually" and wrote the next chapter (okay it was a lot more complicated than "fuck it" but that would take too long to explain.) And in FACT, a ton of the readership came back! It was an extremely warm reception! And new readers, too. Just a lot of really warm, positive feedback. Which absolutely blew my mind because it was completely at odds with my feeling that things needed constant updates to cling to relevance. And the idea of "well if they waited 3 years..." has helped me a lot with allowing time and breaks between chapters. I don't burn out on them. I edit them more. My update schedule's been more like 2-6 weeks between chapters, rather than days.
Allowing that down time, letting ABoT be a steady jog instead of an all-out sprint, has been absolutely crucial to getting as far through it as I am. Even right now, it's been pretty long since chapter 45. I dove super deep into putting ch45 together and I kinda needed some time off after to decompress and step away to not risk burn out. Which was very needed and helpful and now I'm back to chugging through ch46.
There was an old comment, I think on Reddit, that I read years ago which has stuck with me ever since. Someone was recounting a conversation with a single mother who was considering going back to college to get her degree, but was hesitant to do so because she would be 40 by the time she graduated. To which the other person responded "You'll be 40 anyway."
And "you'll be 40 anyway" plays in my head a lot. Like, ABoT's been going for almost 6 years. Well 6 years were going to pass anyway. ABoT might not be done for x-many more months. X-many more months are gonna pass anyway. Time's gonna happen anyway. So I'm not worried about whether this thing is still going by then or not. I'm just keeping at it until it's done.

Crack, crack, crack
The sound of broken bones echoed in the dark hallway, a tall figure punching a man underneath them violently. The figure took a step back when they're sure that the man was truly unconscious.
White drapes unfolded, revealing a man in his late thirties, eyes glowing white as he stared quietly at the body below him. He looked at his hands, bloody from the assault he had just caused.
"Onto the next one, Marc." The voice sounded near yet far from him, a voice that torture him, binds him to this hellish nightmare for as long as eternity.
He moved his head towards the direction of the sound and stared at the eternal being for a second, hollow eyes bored right back at him.
Marc clenched his fist tightly. He doesn't want this, he's tired of this life. Him being a fist of vengeance was a mistake, he loathe the fact at how easy was he manipulated three years ago on his death bed.
He regrets his choice ever since he made it, but yet he can't deny the relief that he felt when it was him who became a tool of God, not Steven. God knows he'll do anything to protect his alter, his other self that he consider as a brother. Steven doesn't know that yet, he couldn't say it to his face.
Was it embarrassment? Was it that he's afraid to say it out loud because he's terrified that he'll make the same mistakes?
Marc doesn't need Steven to know about that yet, he's already satisfied with the way things are now. Him being coexist with his alter and now the both of them found a newfound peace, you.
He loved the both of you so much that he'd even willingly disappear if it could gave Steven a normal life that he knew he couldn't have with you.
Steven is a chance that Marc did not have.
He nods curtly, concealing his face yet again with the white fabric. But before he took off he heard something- someone's voice. A very familiar one, one that belong to someone that he wish to never met here.
"This is why I told you to be careful," you sighed, holding the phone in one hand while you uttered the words angrily at your best friend.
How could she have dropped her keys at a shady place like this?
You were walking home from a party that one of your mutual friends threw, you went there with Claire and she somehow hooked up with a guy and you decided to leave because it's getting pretty late, you don't want to make your sweet boyfriend worried.
You wanted to bring Steven with you but he adamantly said that you should go enjoy yourself more, spend more time with your friends and family because he felt 'guilty' having you all for himself for the past week.
You could felt the smiled started to form on your face, it's been a week since that eventful shit show, still you're grateful for the outcome of it.
"I'm really sorry, babes. I'll treat you out later, I promise."
You rolled your eyes, huffing slightly as you muttered a small "alright."
You heard multiple sounds of shuffling and- is that a zipper?
"I gotta go!"
Before you could said anything she hanged up the phone, you looked at your already black screen in disbelief.
"Traitor."
You spat before shoving your phone inside your purse, huffing again before going inside the dark alleyway, it maybe sounded like a dumb move from a female lead of a superhero movie but this alleyway isn't that bad when the suns still shining, this alleyway is a shortcut from your apartment to Claire's, you've walked here thousands of times before, you sure you'll be fine.
You could also fight, you've learned a few basic material arts to defend yourself. What can you say? A girl gotta keep herself safe in any situations.
You looked around, trying to find Claire's keys, you still didn't understand how she managed to drop them.
Marc was standing on a rooftop just above you, staying still on his spot, hiding away at the roof while his gaze fixed at your face.
"Fucking hell, what a night." you groaned when you finally found them tucked behind a trash bin, lifting up your purse and taking out your phone.
2AM, It's pretty late right now. You're wondering if Steven still awake or not so you decided to call him, putting the phone on your ears while walking out from the alleyway.
Marc can't look away, he can't get you out of his line of sight, so he follows you in a disguise to keep you safe even with Khonshu protesting loudly at his ears, screaming at him that he has important matters to attend.
Marc totally turned a deaf ears to his words.
Then he saw it, a group of drunken men not too far away from you, he saw you physically froze on the spot. Of course you knew a little martial arts and you're quite good at them actually but fighting a group of grown men that are basically twice your size? No, you're not taking chances.
You quickly and quietly turn your back against them, trying to ran towards the opposite direction.
But you're too late, they've already saw you, Marc could tell what they were thinking just by that sickening smile on their face on their face.
He couldn't even remember when he jumped down, all that he could heard was the agonizing scream from one of the dudes who was the closest to you.
You cringed when the dude fell on his ass, peaking your head from Marc shoulders to see better.
"That must've hurted."
He side eyed you, you were gorgeous in that dress, he whished he could just stopped everything and stare at you right now.
"Hey, dude. We don't want trouble."
One of them said as he walked closer to Marc, he could see the sharp objects reflecting the light before he even lunged at him.
Marc gripped his arm before the small dagger made any contact on his body, smirking lightly as the man in front of him winced in pain.
Marc twisted his wrist hard, making them let go of dagger, the clattering sounds it made the other guys lunged towards him. He quickly tried to take care of them while protecting you, keeping you safe behind him.
What he didn't knew is that one managed to slipped away and tried to grabbed you by the hair, that man screamed while lunging at you, you panicked and instantly kicked him hard, making him flew to the other side.
Ok, this is slightly different from your training but you still kicked him hard though. Maybe it's the adrenaline?
You didn't even realized a smile made it's way to your face, It's pretty fun, you could get used to this.
Marc was too stunned to speak or do anything really, he wasn't expecting that from you.
"Hey, focus on your own fights!"
You screamed, shifting your gaze to glared slightly at him before ducking your head and punching another drunken guy's face.
He almost laughed out loud, it's official, Marc is whipped for you.
After a few minutes of the both of you beating the drunken guys, he somehow ended up walking next to you to the direction of your apartment.
"So," you started, nervously gripping your purse and took a glance at him before continuing your sentence, "are you a hero?"
Marc shook his head, smiling underneath his mask.
He couldn't even fathom how different it felt staring at you directly and not from Steven's are.
It's the first conversation that he had with you as himself and it felt great.
He tried hard not to speak though so that you wouldn't recognized his voice.
"Would that really work, Marc?"
Marc opted to ignore his alter, only focusing on how your voice sounded next to him.
"You acted like one." you squint your eyes at him, eyeing him up and down, he's strangely familiar.
When you were greeted with silence you took it as a sign to continue.
"I mean come on, I knew we live in a world where gods, aliens and heroes exist but it's the first time I'm actually meeting one."
He hummed at you, that smile was still plastered behind his white mask.
"It's pretty cool actually,"
You said, eyes still focus on the road, you didn't realized that he was looking straight at you.
You're gorgeous, basking in the moonlight with a giddy smile right beside him and there's just something about you tonight that made him couldn't took his gaze off of you.
He tried to clear the phantoms from his head and grasp reality when you suddenly stopped, he almost flinched when you shifted your entire body to him with a big smile.
"What's your name- no, what's your alias! Like hero name, do you have one?"
He furrowed his eyebrows at your behavior. Sure, people are often curious about him and his alias but they never really said that out loud, too put off by his quietness and blunt way of dealing with the bad guys.
"Why do you want to know?"
He caught himself said, "I thought you didn't want to say anything."
He glared slightly at the window behind you, Steven was looking at him with a slight smirk.
"Well, I want to know the name of my hero of course."
He froze, that simple sentence was replying over and over on his mind like a broken record. Your hero. Yours.
He gulped, trying to mask his voice by deepened them slightly, he hoped you won't realized it. "Moon knight."
You hummed at him, that giddy smile still plastered on your face. "Moon knight, it suits you well."
You didn't even realized that you're already standing in front of your apartment, talking to him was fun, he made you feel safe and relaxed walking this late at night, you don't want this to end just yet.
But alas you're here already, you tried to hide the disappoinment in your voice but deep down you're sure it didn't work.
"Well, thank you so much for tonight, moon knight. Keep kicking ass!"
He nodded, looking at you for a second before he jumped away to the roof, Steven playfully scoffed at him.
"That's very dramatic of you, Marc."
"Shut up, Steven."
Marc rolled his eyes but the smile on his face didn't show any annoyance.
"Babe, babe, baby!" you hurriedly ran to his desk, Steven was already smiling at the sight of you. "Yes, love?"
"You wouldn't believe what happened last night."
Steven put down the plushies and turned his whole body to your direction, you smiled at his gestures.
"What happened?"
You couldn't even stop yourself from smiling wider, squealing slightly.
"I've met a hero last night, he was so cool!"
Steven laughed at your excitement, he could felt the warmness seeping through his body because of you. You could always effect him without you knowing about it.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah! You should've been there! He was like bamp and wabamp and kaboosh! It was amazing!"
Marc smiled at you from the reflection.
You were adorable, how could you be so bright? There's not an ounce of you that he didn't love.
He continued to watch you explain last night's event through Steven's eyes.
Now that he had the taste of seeing you and just talking to you himself, he knew he couldn't be satisfied with the interaction through Steven's.
Like a child who just got a taste of a tooth rotting sweet candy, he craved more of the feeling.

Our apartment is through a management company. It's usually fine. The last several months, we've had issues with them 1) actually sending out maintenance, and 2) not fixing our fucking floor.
Our floor was put in during the Fall of 2022 after the fucking flood of June 2022. For the entire summer, we walked around on the original concrete floor of our renovated 100-year-old basement apartment.
Management company swore the problem was that the property owner was dragging his feet.
I'd met the property owner several times as he'd come to inspect the damage and understand what he needed to do as owner, since it would be his insurance covering things. I thought he was an asshole.
The new floor went in. We moved home. A few weeks later, I noticed a space between the boards in the kitchen. I debated calling the management company, then went, "I'm in no fucking mood" and threw a rug over it.
I'm not a professional, but I know bits and pieces of home shit. I figured, with the weather cooling, the vinyl boards were shifting a bit, and it'd either stay the same or just slip back together at some point.
And then the rest of the floor started buckling.
I put a maintenance request in. A guy came out, took one look at the floor, and went, "Oh, yeah, I know what's happening." He took photos. He pushed back together what boards he could, and he left.
Nothing for about a week, then a call. The owner wants to come out and look. I sighed and agreed. He came out and brought along his wife, the maintenance guy who'd come before, and our property management contact.
He was NOT PLEASED. His wife's job that day, very obviously to me, was to get my real impression of the management company while the owner asked some questions about why it was taking a week to even update me on next steps?
I told the wife, "We've never had a real problem with maintenance. Stuff's always gotten fixed."
"Have you needed it often?" she asked.
"Nope," I said because it was true.
When the whole apartment was getting torn up after the flood, the demo guy was 1) great and 2) informed me that all the finishes in the apartment were commonly used but also the high-end version. Yeah, they were all particle board and vinyl and what have you. But they were the top-notch versions of everything. I remembered thinking, "Wow, the dude who renovated this place gave a real shit."
We have not heard word one from anyone at the management company about our floor since around October. We have heard from the owner and his wife on a few occasions, calling to see if the next step of the plans had happened. Which is how I found out there were plans. Our contact at the management company (with 16 years experience, something she mentioned when she sent out her intro email at her hiring) had not given me any information.
A couple of weeks ago, our kitchen turned into a tiny swamp. There was water coming up through the fucked up floorboards. A pipe had frozen upstairs a couple of days before. There were four inches of glaze ice over everything.
We called the management company. We got an email back: "We are confirming with the owner how he wants to proceed."
I started cursing the owner's name up and down.
And then he showed up that night. In the ice and the snow. With it pouring sleet (literally pouring sleet). I thought he was being a control freak.
He looked at things, said, "I'll have to turn the water off." And then went upstairs to check on things there. He came back a few minutes later, needing to try and find the shut off. We couldn't locate it down here, either. He shut it off at the street, then took Sean out and showed him how to use the tool to turn it on and off.
"It's a very slow leak," he told us. "If you don't mind mopping up water when it comes up, you can turn the water on for short periods of time."
Two days with no water. The ice continued not to melt. I fell on the dog walk and slid into the side of a car (nothing serious). The owner showed up again when the roads were still barely passable. He had the leak fixed and the water back in by the end of the day. He apologized for the delay. He left the wall open so things could dry, and came back the next day to check things again.
He started to grow on me. He knows his shit. He works quietly. He tries to be as unobtrusive as possible. I sent my regards to his wife, for which he thanked me.
During these few days, I'm getting sporadic emails from the management company basically rehashing everything that had happened that day. Even though I'd heard him call them and explain things to them within half an hour of showing up each day.
So, they were in the loop.
And, yes, so were we.
But there's a way to do these things.
And acting like it's all brand new information to you when the email gets to me at six, after he's left again after apologizing for getting some mud on the floor because he's been in and out not only fixing the leak but also beating the shit out of the four inches of glaze ice with a shovel so he can clear the sidewalk for us. Which is one of those technical requirements that I don't expect of any owner or management company when it's below freezing multiple days in a row in a city where that does not happen regularly. Like, the official city policy during the weather was "please stay the fuck inside."
The contractors came to put the wall back together. The owner showed up to properly introduce them, then left them to it. They did good work as far as I could tell.
I've heard nothing from the management company for several days, and I continue to be very unimpressed by their current actions. Which is just additional unimpressed feelings since October when I got a call from the wife saying, "Did the contractor come out to measure?"
"Measure?"
"For the replacement floor."
"No, Ma'am," I said, not knowing until this phone call that a contractor had even been signed. "Last I heard anything was when the inspector came out."
"Did the company contact you about them?"
"Yes, but then the inspector didn't show the day he was supposed to, and we didn't hear why. He did show up a couple of days later."
The kind of pause you only get from a woman who knows how to use her powers for politeness, smoothing ruffled feathers, and fucking murdering someone. "I see. Okay. Thank you."
"I've worked on a lot of floors," the contractor told me yesterday as he wiped down all the places drywall dust and paste had gotten (everywhere; including the bottom of Bean's foot I discovered this morning). "You're definitely gonna need new floor where the leak was."
"Oh, yeah," I said, with a wave. "We need the whole thing replaced, actually. It's in work."
"Yeah, I noticed it was bubbling," the contractor says. "Not surprising. This is the cheapest vinyl floor you can get."
"Oh?"
"Yeah. I've worked with the owner for years. I'm surprised he approved this."
About a week after the wife last called me, we got a letter in the mail from the owner. It read, in part:
...please copy us in all emails to the management company. We want to be fully aware when issues arise so they can be handled as quickly as possible...
Given all current evidence, I am beginning to suspect the problem was NOT the owner but the management company. As I have never worked in property management, I don't know who decides things like which flooring. However, having watched the owner over this last couple of weeks, I suspect the management company picked the flooring and the contractor to do it and the "dragging on" issue was the owner pushing for better quality.
I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that the owner was here today to paint the repaired wall and a strip of ceiling that has gone unfixed by the management company since before we told them the floor news.
I have been beyond happy with the speed of things with the owner in charge of repairs, and I've come to appreciate his dedication to keeping our place in good kit. He is proud of this place and wants it to show. He wants high-quality and good craftsmanship.
He also ended up not painting because the ceiling repair doesn't have the right texture when the lights are off. He is coming back tomorrow morning with the contractor so it gets done to his liking. "It can be difficult to match the texture of sheet rock," he told me. Having watched him work these past couple of weeks, I know he wants it done to a high standard that I appreciate as the tenant.
On the other hand. What an asshole.

Here's a long mushy post because today is a special date.
Way back in the early oughts, I was talking to this guy on AIM (blast from the past, I know). We started talking in November of 2008 and from the first time we chatted, I felt like there was something special about him. We became fast friends and would chat into the early hours as we put off doing our homework. He was funny and smart and would help me with my physics homework and occasionally Rick Roll me.
One time, we worked together to try and figure out if every person in the world moonwalked against the earth's rotation on the equator, could they get the planet to stop spinning (inconclusive, but probably no).
The first time we spoke on the phone (the first time we heard each other's voices) it was the day that Obama was inaugurated. I remember this because I felt overwhelmed and awkward. I didn't know what to talk about, so I brought that up.
I got the sense that he liked me - or at least I hope he did, because I liked him. A super nerd, captain of the fencing team, loved his dog - I DEFINITELY had a crush.
But I wasn't certain that he liked me until February 10th, when he messaged me on AIM and quoted Newton's third law. He said something to the effect of "Newton's Third Law states that reactions are equal and opposite. I really like you - does the law apply here?"
Well, that guy and I have been together 15 years now. After a long distance relationship through the rest of highschool and college, we moved in together in 2014. We got married in 2016. His sister Rick Rolled us at our wedding. We got a congratulations card from Obama (someone mailed him our wedding invite, to this day I don't know who).
It's been an eventful couple of years. We've had jobs and apartments and dogs and roommates. We've gone on amazing adventures, engaged in so many hobbies together, and played through a bunch of videogames side-by-side. There's been hundreds of hours of audiobooks and probably months worth of television. Oh, and A LOT of BeatSaber.
He has been very excited about my return to fanfiction and my renewed love of FFVIII. He has never played the game but he will let me talk about it endlessly and bounce fanfiction ideas off him. Everytime I finish a chapter of something, I send it to him and he gives me feedback. If that's not love, I don't know what love is!
He was there to help me into the car when I was loopy from having my wisdom teeth removed. Before I learned to drive, he took me anywhere I couldn't reach from walking/transit without question. He has seen me through my career ups and downs and is now my biggest cheerleader as I apply to grad school.
Once I hosted an event for a job I had. Doing that always pushed my mental health to the brink. I was staying at a friend's place in the city after the meeting with the plan to metro home in the morning, but the wave of a manic episode that had manifested over the week crashed into my mind and I was caught in the riptide of a panic attack. He drove out during a blizzard in the middle of the night to bring me home and rubbed my back as I laid on the floor of our apartment, sobbing.
Our relationship survived a whole pandemic. When I had struggles with my birth family, we became each other's family, and his family welcomed me too. Then he saw me through my darkest timeline and has supported me through every step of my mental health journey. Just a few hours ago, I was stuck in some memories and he talked me through it. I am tremendously grateful everyday to have such an amazing person in my life.
In October of last year, we moved into our home. For the first time in my life, I feel safe and comfortable in the place I live and waking up to be with him, here, everyday brings me so much joy. I recently heard this song, which really captures how we feel in this moment of our lives:
So happy anniversary to "my Rinoa" - @tharinock (funnily enough the same handle I first got to know you by). Here's to the next 15 years of fun and love.

HELLO IM BACK (I love you bunches)
I WOULD LIKE LEIGH FLUFF OF UH.. UHM… idk what aboutttt… showing up at Leighs house with her favorite ice cream
Hi, I love you bunches too <3
This got longer than expected so it's under the cut.
...
Hey, are we still on for movie night?
You stare at the screen of your phone, the notification that your message had been read mocking you. You watch as the three dots appear and then disappear over and over, the silence becoming deafening.
Not tonight.
When the reply from Leigh finally comes through you want to growl in frustration. She was avoiding you, there was no doubt about it. Ever since the Halloween party for work a few weeks ago, she had been making excuses to cancel plans and you were sick of it.
It was typical Leigh behaviour. She was prone to shut people out with almost no explanation, you'd seen her do it countless times over the years. You just never thought she'd do it to you.
"Screw it," you mumble to yourself, grabbing your keys from the bench and marching to your front door.
Half an hour later finds your outside the door to her apartment, knuckles rapping on the wood as you chew your lip anxiously.
You start second guessing if this was a good idea or not, your early ire replaced with hurt and apprehension.
The door swings open to reveal Leigh on the other side. She's in her pyjamas, her hair in a messy bun on top of her head and one of her eyebrows is arched expectantly.
You hold up the tub of ice cream as a peace offering, hoping that the sight of her favourite flavour would cheer her up. Instead she just scoffs, turning abruptly and walking inside.
Your heart drops, smile faltering as you stand there hopelessly on the porch. You can no longer see Leigh inside, shifting your weight before deciding 'fuck it' and following her in.
"Good to see you respect boundaries," Leigh bites out when she spots you, the cold dessert now dripping condensation onto the floor. "I said I was busy."
"No you didn't," you retort, your frustration from earlier returning. "But I guess it's hard to keep track of all your excuses lately."
"I'm not-" she tries to rebut but you're quick to cut her off.
"Cut the bullshit, Leigh," you cry out, your outburst making her silent. "You're avoiding me. Ever since the Halloween thing you've been using every excuse in the book to stay away from me."
She tries to shake her head but you just roll your eyes, trying to hide the hurt in your voice.
"Did I do something wrong?" you ask desperately. "Because I've been wracking my brain and I just can't figure it out."
"No," she replies softly, her eyes not meeting yours. "You didn't do anything wrong."
"Then what?" you plead, the tears springing to your eyes. "Why do you hate me all of a sudden?"
Leigh laughs then, the sound almost mocking.
"I don't hate you," she chuckles derisively, "I could never hate you."
"I don't get it," you say confused, trying to make sense of your friend's strange behaviour.
Leigh groans, dragging her hands over her face. You stand there silently, you heart beating wildly in your chest.
"I don't hate you," she repeats, her eyes finally meeting yours, the green drawing you in.
"You're right though, I have been avoiding you." You watch as her fingers twist together nervously.
"At the party," Leigh takes a deep breath before continuing, "I just found myself staring at you all night. You just looked so beautiful and I couldn't deny it any longer."
"Deny what?" you whisper hopefully, almost scared of the answer.
"That I'm in love with you," comes the reply, Leigh's eyes never wavering from yours. "I'm in love with you and that terrifies me."
"Why?" you prompt her, taking a step forward.
"I lose everyone I love," she confesses, her eyes dropping to the floor but you catch the shine of tears in them before they do. "I didn't want to lose you too. I don't think I'd survive it."
"Oh, Leigh," you sigh, hand reaching out to grab hers comfortingly. "I'm not going anywhere."
Her head snaps up, hope written all over her face at your words.
"I love you too, you idiot," you tell her, watching her lips curve into a smile as she processes the words. "Stop trying to run away from this, from me."
"Okay," Leigh nods, her breath shaky. "Okay."
You lean forward slowly, watching her face for any sign of hesitation. When you find none, you close your eyes and close the remaining distance.
Her lips are soft against yours, slightly wet from her tears and warm. You revel in the feeling, something you had dreamed about for years. It felt like her lips were made for yours, you felt complete.
After a few seconds you pulled back, watching her eyes flutter open. She smiles at you, her cheeks dusted with pink.
"Come on," you say, tugging on her hand. "We better eat that ice cream before it melts. Do you want to pick the movie?"
