I saw a screenshot of this episode, and I was reminded that I rewatched it (and recorded some scenes) last month. Anyway, just thought some of you might want to see it.
(edit: added the tag "out of context detco dub" to all the related videos on my blog for easier searching)
I’m fascinated by horror and for me, I feel like I’m drawn to it because of all these things. However my main reason is probably because I relate to it or find it oddly comforting in a way—and no, I can’t elaborate unfortunately. I do not know why the Horrors™️ give me the warm fuzzies
I love the new TMNT movie, and I’m currently on the first episode of Tales of the TMNT.
So far it’s great, but I just feel like this whole universe is a little off and I think I finally know why. There is barely any Japanese influence left. they took away all the Japanese influence Splinter had by making him a random New York rat, and left us with a rat who only learned Japanese fighting styles from tv. That’s the only connection to Japanese culture he has. This then bleeds into the turtles and it just really takes away from the Japanese American influence the turtles always had.
I mean, even in iterations where Splinter wasn’t Hamato Yoshi, he was always connected to him. In the original story and in the 2003 universe, Splinter had intimate ties with Japanese culture. Now, he just…doesn’t. And it just feels like the story would be a lot better and more succinct if he did. But hey, maybe they’ll add more to Splinter’s backstory in the next movie since they are introducing Shredder. I doubt it, but who knows.
Anyway, Idk if I’m the only person who thinks this, but it makes me sad
Hey did anyone else own the VHS tape of this supperrrrr underrated Dreamworks movie called Camelot??? It was TOTALLY real guys trust me. TRUSSST MEEE. DID YOU SEE IT???
Tell me why I only found your blog today😫 I’ve been reading through your works all morning and wanna bow down to your writing like the royalty it is!
For sleazy mechanic ghost, you’ve got me giggling and wondering what would happen if she Johnny couldn’t successfully chat her up and she just…leaves when her car is fixed, no giving into flirtation. Would love to hear your thoughts on if they would stalk their little bird or what not.
Omg ty anon 😭🩵 I don’t have very much posted yet since i’ve spent the last two years essentially just rambling my incoherent ideas and headcanons in friends DMs but now i’m like fuck it why shouldn’t i post them and try to get better at writing. The first and only fic i’ve done so far was really fun and i’m excited to do shameless self insert x reader stuff haha.
As for the second part im literally cackling right now because that’s well… basically the idea i have outlined 💀 probs won’t be full blown creepy stalker for this AU. but without spoiling too much yeah basically rejects Soap coming on super fucking strong that initial meeting at the shop but they just can’t quite seem shake him. Relatively small town after all, of course he’s going to spot you in the bread aisle at the grocery store and make a beeline to you to bother and harass you. and he’s gonna make sure you have to bring your fine self and your pretty car that he’s obsessed with back to the shop
The two stories/series/media creations that make me want to gnaw on the drywall right now are Revolutionary Girl Utena, a masterful deconstruction of tropes rooted in sexism and queerphobia but with pervasive racist/imperialist elements* in the background, and Dune, a masterful deconstruction of tropes rooted in racism and imperialism but with pervasive sexist/queerphobic** elements in the background. it's hilarious it's like they're made to cancel each other out
i was going to make a post telling yall to stop calling godzilla minus one a low-budget film (because it isn't) but then i remembered disney regularly drops 12 million for ONE EPISODE of their shows without nearly the same cultural impact so. yeah godzilla is low-budget as far as i'm concerned idc
