Gerald’s Journal - Disability representation

I read scans of Gerald’s Journal and I have to talk about it. Not the lore or anything like that, but the disability rep. I didn’t expect to cry reading this.

I don’t have much to say about this image, but it is nice to see Maria using a mobility aid. It’s not often we get representation for an ambulatory wheelchair user.

I do wonder about Maria’s relationship with her parents. They weren’t happy with Gerald’s wish to bring her to the ARK so that he could research a cure for her, but they let her go anyways? Maybe Gerald got some sort of order to get her to go or Maria decided she wanted to go with him, but it seems a little odd to me. I’ll expand on this a little later.

Oh my days, I’ve never felt so seen by a piece of media and it just so happens to be my special interest video game. I am tearing up again thinking about this. Maybe that’s silly but to have a character express his frustrations about people doubting the invisible disability of his grandchild is so touching. I wish people in my life were more like Gerald. People with invisible illnesses get doubted so much because we “look fine”, but it’s so invalidating to have your struggles questioned just because the symptoms aren’t as visibly obvious.

So we now have confirmation that Shadow’s air shoes and inhibitor rings are akin to mobility aids. I headcanoned this but I didn’t know they’d flat out confirm it like that. My favourite character is canonically disabled physically (and I’d argue mentally given his PTSD). I don’t have much to say about this besides being happy that my favourite character is now even more relatable.

It also makes a lot of sense for Maria to help create them because she has experience with her own disability and can offer a perspective that an able bodied person couldn’t. That and it makes Shadow’s connection so much stronger. His mobility aids were designed by Maria. He didn’t just help her with her disability - she helped with his. He wouldn’t be able to function without what she and Gerald created for him.

Quote from the right: “Back on Earth [Maria’s?] parents have been blessed with another little girl. They’re already run tech(?) and she has none of the genetic markers like to [Maria’s] condition. While this was welcomed news, the unspoken commentary was received loud and clear.”

(I am assuming they’re talking about Maria’s sister, but I guess they could also be talking about her cousin.)

So did Maria’s parents see their new daughter as a replacement? If I’m reading that correctly, it’s so sad. Do you think Gerald told Maria about her sister/cousin? If she did know about it, I bet she was excited to meet her. But I get the feeling that her parents back home didn’t really care about her anymore given what Gerald says in his journal. It hurts that much more when you consider how much Maria wanted to go home, perhaps even return to her family.

I feel like all of this makes Maria’s death more tragic for both Gerald and Shadow. For Gerald, he did so much reason and sacrificed so much in order to try and find a cure for Maria. He supported her when no one else did. And from his perspective, despite her illness and the judgement of others, including potentially her own family, she was still positive. And yet she was killed, and he only found out about her death because of a report that had her name on it (I think anyways?).

From Shadow’s perspective, she is the person who gave his name meaning. Despite most being distant and weary of her, she was immediately friendly to him and helped teach him about the world. She helped created the devices used to reduce his pain and control his powers. He quite literally carries part of him with her. She was his sole reason for existing for a long time. And despite being this super supportive, kind, loving person, she was killed. I can imagine him being mad at Gerald for messing with his memories, but I figure there’s a degree of understanding, even if he doesn’t fully agree with what Gerald did. The difference between them both is Shadow’s purpose shifted beyond Maria while Gerald’s did not. Anyways, I digress - this post is about disability rep, not Shadow lore.

I love this and Dark Beginnings for their direct and indirect disability rep. My love for Shadow and Maria has only grown and I have a deeper appreciation for Gerald. I wish more people were as understanding as he is towards people with invisible disabilities.

My Experience with Harassment Regarding Hazbin Hotel's "HuskerDust" Fan Base.

Alright, let's start by saying.

People can ship whatever the fuck they want, it doesn't matter if it's canon or not, if you're up in arms about a fictional cat and a spider named after a drug, then touch grass.

It all started in a unnamed server, I was in the fandom before the series officially aired on Amazon. I had a love for Alastor, (hence the creation of Pandora Magne Charlie's Little Sister, and their 3 kids, before switching to Lucifer's Twin Sister and Alastor) then I moved on to Husk and Mammon.

Then began my love for Husk, where I created an Angel OC that was married to Adam before being banished to Hell for being a pacifist.

I even gave them a fankid, (although fankids is more appropriate but the known one is Dusk.)

The reception was pretty good, with some good comments on Left Behind but some Discord Users kept screeching about HUSKERDUST and the importance of staying true to the ship, with some even calling me Homophobic?

Husk is FUCKING PANSEXUAL!

This is an irritation of mine that people seem to always do, when regarding sexualitys in the BiPan spec, they always erase the sexuality and (usually for males) make the character gay while deluding themself into thinking they are GAY when they aren't.

I am sick and tired of idiots doing this, and the fact these people are willing to issue death threats while also calling you a "bigot" and even go as far as to encourage others to harass you.

Despicable, no one should have to be told their ship's invalid because the creator of the show cannot write a less than toxic environment while also writing shit characters and shit dynamics between characters that you got while scrolling at 2AM on a Monday on TVTropes.

The result of your bad writing and attitude is the main reason why the Hazbin Hotel Fandom fucking failed, your fans are following what YOU ARE DOING VIZIEPOP, I don't care if you're rich and fucking famous, you're proving that you let money get to your head, and you ONLY see your fans that blindly worship your every move as "good to be around."

You probably dropped the old cast members because they said something to you that you didn't like.

I am sick and tired of dealing with this fandom's bs and continuing to support dickheads and pieces of shit while also writing shit thats literally similar to ViziePop.

Be very aware that it's come to my attention there is a server that has a owner that has been harassing people on both Tumblr and Discord about being the one and only god while also invalidating alters that are gods or past gods or even godkin in general, I want it to be clear that not only has this person been targeting adults but minors as well (more info needed)

It's very unfortunate that this is happening and has happened to people in general, although I don't know how long I'll keep this post up, but I'm still getting details on this, for now please avoid the user "Rhys" with a Dazai Osamu profile picture from bungo stray dogs

This person has not been okay as they have been pushing their delusions on to people about the god talk, promoting and encouraging people to continue to talk to them as such, although nothing entirely wrong with delusions, this one in particular has not been alright as it started showing cult like behavior

Tread carefully when meeting this individual as they have used tactics to befriend people and welcome them into their friend group until they turn around and use the delusion to attack people that disagree with "Rhys"

This individual has also discussed about having multiple accounts as well to continue to message people as well (info needed to support claim)

Hey, sorry I haven't been doing my daily outfit posts lately-- I guess I never mentioned why I started them, but it's this personal project that I'm working on where I take a picture (though, in all honesty, it's a lot of pictures lol) in whatever I'm wearing and I feature my cane to promote awareness and give representation to other cane users and members of the cpunk and Physically Disabled community. I'm working on building up the courage to take these pictures outside as well, because I do them on campus, but we deserve to see ourselves outside as well!

The reason I haven't been keeping up with it is because my partner and I have really been really struggling financially as well as with our mental health (and me with my physical health as well, obviously lol) we moved across the country to go to school and it is So Hard-- I had to drop three out of five of my classes because the course work was just too much in volume and I need a job really bad (which is going to be Hard to do since we don't even know why I'm in such chronic pain yet �� it's hard not to feel defeated!)

Either way, I think going to start posting them with the tag #TheVainCanes and #MobilityAidVainity but I'm also going to host a poll for some options bc I want this to be a widespread community thing!

I'm choosing these names because I've seen from both ableds and disabled elitists this idea that we and our mobility aides need to look like they're fresh out the hospital for us to be Believed and deserving of respect, and anything beyond that voids our suffering and invalidates our experiences-- and I think that's reductive, harmful, and just plain wrong! Our mobility aides are an extension of ourselves and we deserve to dress them up however we want. We deserve representation, and the normalization of Joy and Having Personality While Disabled.

How HTTP Parameter Pollution Works

HPP occurs when an application receives multiple parameters with the same name in an HTTP request. Depending on how the backend processes them, unexpected behavior can occur.

Example of HTTP Request with HPP:

GET /search?category=electronics&category=books HTTP/1.1 Host: example.com

Different frameworks handle duplicate parameters differently:

PHP (Laravel): Takes the last occurrence (category=books) unless explicitly handled as an array.

Express.js (Node.js): Stores multiple values as an array.

I'm Canis/Canid (you can always just call me 'Sirenium' if that's easier!). Guys, you need to just not worry about this person. They're welcome to reblog anything they like from my posts. I get all my notifications and I read all the tags still, so if I feel like they've said something that is worth answering, I'll answer it. They don't really add much commentary that is illuminating, which I suppose means they've not got that much to say of any consequence, or they would say it instead of cherry-picking my meta posts. I've never understood people who are on a mission to make others feel like their ships are bad/invalid/whatever, and I'm not likely to start understanding that now.

The whole “you only headcanon this character to be gay to get them out of the way!” thing is exhausting at best, and thinly veiled homophobia at worst.

My friend, if I wanted to “get them out of the way” I just wouldn’t include them in the magical mind theatre that is my imagination. None of us would. I understand we've entered into an exhausting age where shipping is viewed as some sort of extension of activism, but that's bullshit. I am not wasting time imagining characters in scenarios that I'm not personally interested or invested in.
