Hallo! Could I possibly request a Tim Drake x M!Reader?

Seeing your autistic reader mirroring the batboys. I think it would be funny seeing the other Batboys (+ Batman maybe), react to reader and Tim mirroring eachother.

Maybe it doesn't start right away, but builds up steam over time. It starting with them rocking back in forth in sync while bouncing off info from an going case, to them picking up mannerisms.

Then maybe continued with their wardrobes becoming so mixed up, they just have double the clothes.

Honsetly, the thought of Damien being creeped out by Tim and Reader lifting their cups of coffee or energy drinks up in unison, makes me laugh harder than it should.

That or Bruce seeing Reader and Tim mirroring eachothers fighting style for the frist time and just like, 'what the fuck???'. Because, he probably tested Damien for autism snice they are blood, it's generic. Maybe, Dick for ADHD.

Then, it just slipped his mind to get Tim tested or even see the signs of autism in Tim. Because Bruce is autistic, so would just look at Tim and think, 'Yup, that's normal development .'

Headcanons

Funny thing is I hc that pretty much the entire batfam is on the autism spectrum in some way or another. Bruce is autistic , Dick has ADHD or ADD, Jason has ASD or ODD, Tim is autistic, Damian is autistic and mild OCD.

Is this me projecting onto my comfort characters? Yes, yes it is. But come on, look at the batfam and tell me there isn’t at least a little tism in all of them.

You are also very right in Bruce just not noticing the signs in most of his kids since he’s autistic himself and that behavior is the norm for him. Alfred was most likely the one who had Bruce tested when he was younger, so it would have to be Alfred who steps in and advises them to get checked out, just in case.

Tim just happens to slip under the radar, maybe because of the stress at the time he joined the family, or they were all just too busy at the time, so it just slipped their minds.

Tim is also very good as masking, having grown up with his parents, acting “strange” wasn’t allowed, so he’s mastered the skill of hiding his less approved quirks. So, you’ll never see him stimming or rocking in public, or around people for that matter.

It was only after you two started dating and became very close that he started to let it slip, unconsciously of course. But it’s because he doesn’t feel the need to hide around you, and you are one of his comfort people.

The family doesn’t fully notice in the beginning as Tim grows more comfortable not masking and starts mirroring you. Infodumping is a common occurrence in the family, especially with the type of work they do, so when Tim is talking to you about cameras or his favorite band in extreme detail, They just think it’s a normal happening.

Damian is the first to notice, and he would think you two are trying to punk him somehow. When you and Tim always do things in tandem, picking up your drinks at the same time, always pushing your chairs back and getting up together, using the same type of glass or plates, etc.

He wouldn’t confront either of you obviously, since he doesn’t want to play into your hands. But then your mirroring becomes even more obvious. Like mirroring stims, meaning Tim starts stimming the same way you do.

Do you flap your hands? Tim now does too. Verbal stims? Catch Tim making the same noises over comms during patrol. You both also come to enjoy the same textures if you don’t already, because those textures remind you of each other.

It finally clicks for Bruce when he sees Tim and you wearing each other’s clothes and using stim toys, whilst rocking back and forth on the couch, excited to see your comfort movie. It makes Bruce want to facepalm because it’s been so obvious this entire time.

When he asks Alfred about it, the Brit just gives him a bland look whilst saying something along the lines of “Master Bruce, I thought it was obvious from the start”, because Bruce has a habit picking up kids with the tism.

After that Tim finally gets tested and gets his diagnosis. Not that it changes anything other than what’s on paper. But it does help Tim feel better, as in the past he probably struggled with feeling wrong or like he didn’t fit in.

When Damian also realizes you two weren’t trying to dupe him, he settles with his arms crossed and huffs, saying that of course that was the reason since you two couldn’t get the upper hand on him anyways.

The entire fam shares fidget toys or different coping things. The house is stocked with everyone’s comfort food, clothes, media, etc. The walls are made so sound doesn’t pass through them, the fridge and electronics are also upgraded so they don’t make those buzzing sounds. It’s like autism heaven.

You also are included since your dating Tim, and you two are very happy together. The family is also thankful in you helping Tim come out of his shell, even though neither of you realized you were doing it.

So, Yusei is absolutely not walking away from the plot of 5Ds without being a lil bit fucked up. And while Satellite has given him the ability to simply say 'I will put my nose straight through the grindstone and ignore what is happening to me' (for better or for worse), he also has friends that think it important to help him out.

Leo, our wonderful ball of sunshine, can clock immediately when Yusei is in a certain kind of funk that he can handle. He calls it 'Old Paper White' or 'New Paper White' (if Yusei's freaked out enough to go pale). 'Old Paper White' means that Leo can generally goad Yusei into a duel on the work bench, and bemoan his loss in a way to get Yusei to focus on tips and assistance and generally just Big Brothering Leo until he relaxes. 'New Paper' is trickier, because it's probably a deuling related nightmare at the cause. Which means it's time for different games, be it activity books or putting together plastic models together. Leo would definitely enjoy the Duel Monsters Counterpart of Gunpla, and I think Yusei would find the gentle rhythm of 'Snip piece, connect piece' soothing.

Luna's tactics are fairly similar, though with a different approach. She's armed with fidgit toys and puzzles and big long words and her big wide eyes. She'll word tasks very specifically as 'can you help me with this' or 'can you do this for me', and generally weaponises her Baby Sister Status for his benefit. Because it leans on Yusei's 'Can and Will Do Anything For His Friends' part of his will power, she can get him to focus on small tasks like getting to a safe place or solving a rubix cube until he's calmer.

Crow has been spending years knowing the exact balance of 'filling silence' and 'engaging questions' for Yusei to steady himself to. Crow knows all the gossip, what friends are where, interesting mechanical news, all the safe topics. Crow also knows the exact tone of voice to use that signals that nothing is happening, because it's a very different and specific tone of voice to 'we're pretending to be unaware of cops/gangs/attackers' from back when they were younger. He's also totally clued in to what Yusei's different levels on non-verbal answers or non-answers mean, so he can focus on Yusei without focusing *so much* on Yusei that it stresses him out.

Aki's learned the exact levels and kinds of white noise helps Yusei out. Too much or the wrong sounds and he gets over-stimmed or stressed out, too little makes him anxious because actual silence means something bad is about to happen. She also uses a few meditation techniques with him; she may have learned them at Arcadia, but she controls what she knows now. They're both at least a little fond of it; panic attacks or nightmares aren't something that you can fight physically, but this is almost close. Aki's also the one most on top of making sure he takes a painkiller and eats something afterwards, because he always gets a huge headache from being so tense, and he *will* try and just work through it if left to his own devices.

Jack's the only person who can safely goad Yusei into hitting him without Yusei getting *too* wrapped up in being guilty about it. It's very much not a 'Jack deserves to be hurt' thing, but that it's equal measures of that Jack's Always Gonna Do What He Wants and years of Jack-To-Yusei wordless communication between the two of them. He asks for it because he can take it and Yusei can't. It's a Rivals Thing:tm:. It also helps when Crow rolls his eyes and tells Jack off about it like nothing happened. If they can hit a duel, great, but if we're at the bottom option, Jack is of course the one who knows how to be callous to be kind.

Summary: Jimmy sends a message to Scott, asking a difficult question regarding his regression and their relationship - Scott's response isn't what he expected.

Jimmy took a deep breath through his nose, anxiously shifting his pacifier around his mouth with his tongue as he sat criss-cross applesauce on his bed. He had a message written out for Scott, and was heavily considering whether he should send it or not - it was regarding the relationship between the two. They had been boyfriends for a while, but with Jimmy’s regression, there was a part of him that wanted to ask if Scott could be his official caregiver past just hanging out with him when he was little. Choosing to just bite the bullet, he sent the message, triple checking it was just the two of them together before he did so.

Once he hit send, he looked away from his comms device, embarrassment already burning up inside him despite not discussing the issue yet. He refused to look back for about twenty seconds before he finally reopened his comms to see if Scott replied. He had, and Jimmy took another breath to calm himself before reading.

Thirty seconds passed. Then a minute, then two. Scott’s lack of response was becoming increasingly worrying for Jimmy. On minute three, Jimmy’s typing of a checkup message was interrupted by the sound of someone landing outside, causing the boy to jump and close his comms in a panic. He snapped his head towards the noise, fidgeting with the blanket he was holding in some attempt to ease his heartbeat.

“Jimmy? Is everything alright?” Scott’s voice called out, making his way to the codboy’s door, ”could I come in?”

Jimmy paused, continuing to twirl the fabric around webbed hands. He didn’t want to have a verbal conversation about this, hoping that his initial message would get across the fact he wanted to talk over comms. But he couldn’t exactly turn Scott away now, so he removed his pacifier from his mouth, clearing his throat and quietly inviting his boyfriend inside. Without saying another word, he watched Scott walk in, shut the door behind him, and sit next to him.

“What’s up, bubs?” Scott asked softly, one hand gently combing through the younger’s blond hair. He was met with a small whine as a response, watching as Jimmy refused eye contact in humiliation, eliciting a small chuckle from the icy man, “it’s alright, y’know you can tell me anything.”

Jimmy continued to stim using his blanket, still not meeting eyes with his boyfriend, “I, uh- wan’ed to ask you suming.”

“What’cha wanted to ask?”

“Was wonderin’… if you’d like’ta be m’ caregiva’…”

Jimmy flinched, noticing Scott pause his hand in his hair. He opened his mouth to apologise profusely, but was cut off before he even started.

“I thought I was?” Scott was a bit taken aback, “I mean- I take care of you whenever you’re small, don’t I? I would assume that would make me your caregiver.”

“Buh- wasn’ official,” Jimmy mumbled, moving a bit closer towards Scott and allowing himself to make some form of eye contact.

“Well, it can be official now, hon,” Scott smiled softly, continuing to stroke Jimmy's hair and pressing a kiss to his forehead.

IM ALWAYS SO HYPED WHEN I GET TO SHARE MY HEADCANNONS :D THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING!!!! /gen Apologizes for this being answered so late.. And because these are mostly centered around Tubbo because I love talking about his character OH ALSO There is a tw warning on one of the hcs, please read it so you can skip it if you need too!

- Since George is sleeping all the time, People (Sapnap) have started to take care of him because it's very clear he doesn't want to- waking him up so he can drink water or eat or even just dragging him out of the forest he always falls asleep in!

- When Tommy was younger, he really wanted to be a fish. A goldfish to be exact, because of this factor he would spend most of his day trying to last underwater and to this day Tommy can now last a long time underwater!!

- With Tubbo's horns growing in, he headbutts everyone (usually for affection). The only people who can keep up with it is Technoblade and Puffy. Since Puffy has horns herself and Techno.. Is well Techno.

- Adding onto it, People (Philza) have started to refer to Tubbo as "Little Goat" because usually only baby goats headbutt for affection, Tubbo hates it and Tommy laughs everytime.

- if GeorgeHD did exist, I believe that he wouldn't hate George. Yep that's it-

- Tubbo is a very shaky person, his hands shake all the time. It's to the point where he gets pissed off about it, Ranboo likes to grab his hands and hold them for a few minutes when it's bad, it doesn't get rid of the shakes but it grounds Tubbo

- Tommy and Tubbo tickle each other all the time, even when L'manburg was first getting started they tickled each other. It's like their love language and even in Manburg or Pogtopia era no one had the heart to tell them to stop. (Wilbur had tried to tell them to stop but then they just started tickling him.)

- Quackity fidgets with his wings when he's stressed, and considering he runs a nation he's stressed alot. Most of the feathers on his wings are either bent or certain spots don't have as many on them because of his fidgeting.

- Quackity is a very angry duck and that can cause him to lash out at people, so when he gets like this people (usually Las Nevadas workers or Wilbur) like to pet his wings and softly tickle them! It doesn't mean they get away with it, After you pet them you're sent on cleaning duty. Or in Wilbur's case just get tortured with pictures of salmon.

- Tubbo has a bunch of Disney princess bandaids on his scar because Micheal thought he was in pain with the scar and so to make him feel better put bandaids on him! (Tommy also insisted on putting hello kitty bandaids on him-)

- Everyone on the Dream smp likes to tickle each other, Soft tickles, hard tickles, reward tickles, punishment tickles, comfort tickles. They will always find a reason to tickle each other- this is very confusing to new members who join because the smp doesn't waste time in showing them their little habit!

- Tubbo has a bunch of reasons to liking nukes but one of the reasons is because once they launch they often leave a gun powder smell, reminding him of Wilbur. It's.. Comforting in a strange way.

- Yknow that thing were people can like.. Taste words? I feel like that's what Tommy has, which is why he repeats words alot (Pog, pogchamp, primes) cause they taste good. That and for verbal stims!

- on the topic of stimming, Tommy used to be really embarassed about his so he would bite on his tongue whenever he felt a verbal stim coming on.. Like really bite. So much it would draw blood, until one day when he caught Techno stimming. Big strong Techno, the coolest person ever. Safe to say he started letting his stims out a bit more after that.

- when Quackity is excited about something (or someone) he shakes and flutters his wings! It's really cute, especially since it happens when he catches Wilbur coming over to Las nevadas. He hates him, he swears he does! But his bird brain loves Wilbur, he can usually stop them before Wilbur catches wind of it, he does not wanna deal with Wilbur finding out.

- I like to think Tommy has a bunch of pictures hung up around his house of him and his friends, the pictures are hung up on fairy lights! It's literally the only pretty thing about his house.

TW SCRATCHING SOMEONE PURPOSELY - Almost everyone on the Dream Smp has "bad" nails, most being bitten, dirt under the edges or just horribly cut nails. The only people who don't is Antfrost and Quackity, also Puffy. Antfrost is a cat so.. Y'know? He doesn't like having his nails touched so they grow perfectly until hes forced to cut them, Quackity used to have some uh vivid daydreams about.. Scratching a certain someone (Schlatt) so he takes good care of nails. Just incase the day ever comes, and Puffy likes her nails to be atleast cut so she looks professional in therapy sessions!

- Almost every hybrid on the server will make their hybrid side noises, okay that's a bad way of saying it but like Quackity will make duck noises, Tubbo will make goat noises, etc etc. And it always seems to happen when they're excited.

- and yes Tubbo does In fact make goat noises when he knows he's gonna get tickled, it's such a big tell that he wants tickles. Tommy teases him about it all the time, "I'm gonna get you Tubs!-.. D-Did you just bleat? AWW TUBS!! Your so excited for your tickles!! Come here-"

- Tubbo likes eating Christmas ornaments. Also soda cans it's.. It's concerning. S-Someone should probably stop him-

- Tommy can spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocius off the top of his head, no one knows how or why but it's very good for winning challenges!

- If you make any tickle teases to Tommy about his tummy, he will go bright red. It isn't even his death spot but the thought of it being tickled makes him very flustered.

- The bench trio, (Tommy, Tubbo, Ranboo) all like to watch child shows in their free time, they have watched cocomelon before but Tubbo got aggressive at it and almost smashed the tv with a headbutt-

- Tommy, as a bird hybrid makes nests, He sees Tubbo and Ranboo as his "flockmates" it doesn't matter that they're different species. When Tommy needs comfort he goes to the nest, Ranboo is usually the first to catch on so he goes and picks up Tubbo (Who squeals out of surprise) and starts bringing him towards Tommy. He drops him into the nest and sits down himself and they both do whatever they can to make Tommy feel better.

- Tommy in the universe he has wings, he claims they aren't ticklish. And people think it's true because when they try to tickle them he doesn't react.. Until Philza comes along. Philza has wings himself and it only takes a few minutes before Tommy is on the ground laughing his head off.

- Quackity and George on occasion spend time together. I mean Quackity's fiances left him and George's (Boyfriend? Best friend?) Left him so they bond over it, "Well Karl apparently forgot me so" "Ah, Dream forgot me too." They sit in silence until Quackity offers George a drink.

- The reason why George is so tired all the time is actually because of his mushroom hat, the type of mushroom he has on his head actually has like a sleeping thing in it. But even if he did take it off he would sleep the same amount so..????

- I like to think Quackity and in the universe where Tommy has small white wings they often will stretch their wings subconsciously towards people they trust to get compliments. If you compliment their wings, their bird brain will go crazy.

- Animals, for some reason, are naturally drawn to Tommy. It confuses people because he's loud, very very loud but he can draw even the shyest animals to him.

- Wilbur is the type of sibling to randomly enter your room, stare at you for a few seconds and then leave. WITHOUT CLOSING THE DOOR.

- Tubbo and Tommy have tried to convince Quackity to go to marriage therapy and they actually have managed! But once Quackity saw Karl, he became so pissed so fast that he broke the card in his hand. He never went to see then again.

- Quackity has a specific casino card that he fidgets with, it's become a comfort object for him like the rings around his neck. The thing is, the card doesn't belong to his casino. It was made far far before it, he has no idea where it came from. But it has alot of tape on it, (And a small signature from Wilbur.. Seriously where the hell did this card come from?-)

- Karl is asexual, Tommy is aroace, Technoblade is also aroace, Purpled is aroace, George is asexual.

- The smp has so many people with mental health issues, Puffy has stopped being surprised how many people come by nowadays.

- Wilbur will believe everything a fortune cookie has to say, he orders at least 20 a day.

- Tommy collects squishmallows!

- I believe in "Wilbur threatening to blow up people's houses if they are mean to his family" supremacy.

- Tommy refuses to eat apples because of the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" and he's like: "But I don't want Puffy to stay away :("

- Tommy's safe food is dry ramen and Wilbur's is sand or pop rocks.

- Tommy will just randomly stare into people's eyes from across the room, he just keeps staring even as they look scared because why the hell is this 6'0 man staring at you like he wants to murder you???

- Tommy, Tubbo and Ranboo all have to do positive affirmations in the morning as it's a assignment assigned by Puffy after their last group therapy session, Sometimes they like to give compliments to each other. Sometimes on rough days they like to name five things they like about each other and trust me they always have five things.

- (Bit sad) Tubbo always knew Wilbur favours Tommy over him.. Doesn't mean it hurts any less. Words spread to Wilbur about how everyone thinks he favours Tommy over all his brothers. And while he loves Tommy, he loves all his brothers. Even Tubbo, the small goat boy who they found on the side of the road. Wilbur realizes Tubbo must think this way as he is usually quick to deescalate rumors, so he does what any good brother would do. Rushes over to Tubbo, stares for a few seconds until Tubbo's attention is on him and then tickles him. He tickles him while saying how much he loves Tubbo, how he could never pick a favorite brother, and if he finds out who told these rumors he's going to blow up their house.

- Ranboo takes dust baths, I said it.

- Tommy and Tubbo have a hard time with selfcare, Tubbo because he likes to overwork and Tommy simply because he's too nervous to be anywhere near big baths of water. So they've started washing each others hair in the sink. The thing they learned was this was a sign of trust, they trust that they won't hurt each other and will allow the other many breaks as they want before they continue.

- I'm pushing the "Tommy knows how to knit and makes sweaters for his friends" agenda.

- I'm also pushing the "Tommy and Tubbo definitely cry at romance movies even if they are terrible and hug each other while crying while being like "BUT HOW COULDD HEEE THEY WERE INLOVEE"

- Most people think Ranboo is mentally stable, jokes on them he's also mentally unstable! The problem is crying burns his skin so he can't cry half the time.

- Wilbur and Ranboo hang out because of the burger van of course but also because Wilbur is trying to figure out what the hell is Ranboo's other side. He has a million theories, the most popular being ghost. Not ghast, he thought that was stupid just... Ghost.

- Tommy can shapeshift, but he can't control it. Whatever his subconscious decides is what happens. If he's feeling more eager to cause trouble, he'll have a raccoon tail and ears, if he feels more soft he'll have white wings. He tends to hide these things or just have devil horns. He just finds them comfy.

House yawned, he and Wilson were home now, and House didn’t want to get up. He thought of Wilson’s first autistic meltdown, they had been in a mall and a young teen was acting up, their parent yelled at them and Wilson got scared, freaked out when the father hit the boy and started to cry, that had made at least twenty people aware of them. 

“Wilson?” House knowing Wilson was having a meltdown, given he was autistic himself. “He gonna hurt me!” The father paused and his face became ashamed as he looked at his son, “What’s wrong with him?” asked the teen. “Wilson!” House started to restrain the younger man. 

“No owie, I’ll be good!” House started to freak but he reeled it in, it would be harder for people not to look if they saw two autistic people having a meltdown, but this first meltdown was enough to realize why Wilson never talked about his father. 

“H-ouse?” Wilson was up yawning softly, “Hmm?” House looked at his Wilson, his Jimmy. “I wanna t-tell you a-about my dad” What was bringing this up? “Alright surely he can’t be as bad as mine” Wilson sniffled “He was worse” House froze, No, No, No, Wilson hadn’t been.

“When I was e-eleven he um, touched me” House only saw Wilson “I didn’t understand why he was touching my icky parts or my privates to make me feel good.” Wilson looked down, “It hurt a-a lot.” A growl came from House, he wanted to kill someone, Wilson’s father.

“It continued until I was sixteen, when I got the hell out of there.” He sniffled, “I used to have two brothers House.” House looked at Wilson, “I-I killed my other one” House couldn’t believe it, Wilson killing someone? “He tried to bring me back when I was eighteen, but I was smarter than he thought, I-I hadn’t known he was getting the same treatment I had, Mama

Wilson did her best t-to take care of him, he was always the better brother she would say” Tears welled up in Jimmy’s eyes.

“I got so scared, he didn’t know to never touch me in my lower parts, he wasn’t doing it on purpose, b-but I lashed out, had a meltdown, and when it was over the cops were dragging me into an ambulance and my house was burning, I knew my screams that my brother was dead, I killed him, I cried his name so many times,” Wilson looked up to see what House was feeling. 

House looked at Wilson with eyes unreadable, “Continue Wilson” Wilson became afraid, House was usally more verbal, “He wasn’t the only person I killed, my father had confronted me about it,” House closed his eyes “I killed him too, in colder blood, I didn’t call out his name, I didn’t even know what happened, just that I pushed him and he fell off my balcony, I was so struck by my own feelings that the cops must’ve thought I was in shock, I wasn’t really, I was free” House gave a gentle smile, eyes still unreadable somehow. 

“You never seemed like the one who’d kill, Jimmy” House pulled Wilson closer to him and kissed Wilson’s neck softly “My Jimmy” Wilson knew his fear was stupid, House loved him, murderer or not. House yawned and cuddled his lover’s pulse point, his favorite spot to stim.

“Let’s get back to bed, Jimmy,” He whispered. And they did.

Depending on which version of him I headcanon him as being diagnosed early/when he was a kid. Other Bruces and DCAU Bruce especially however give me big undiagnosed/late diagnosed vibes

He has canon special interests its not even a hc at this point. He is obsessed with dinosaurs and the Grey Ghost. I also hc him as loving Agatha Christie books

He made the batsuit with his sensory issues in mind. Mask blocks out unwanted input while still allowing him to see/hear and the cape is a nice weight. The suit is tight but he has full range of motion

Autistic/ADHD Wolverine Headcanons

These can be taken for most Wolverines, except for a few which are based on specific versions

HATES loud noises. Hates em. Has asked Beast to fit his mask with mufflers multiple times so he doesn’t have to cover his ears every time a car explodes or siren goes off

Smooth foods are the devil. He really despises anything that isn’t chewy, which is why he usually eats meat.

Special interests include histoy, mostly stuff to do with ancient cultures. Will talk your ear off about feudal Japan, don’t you worry

Cyclops pisses him off because he never bothers to say what he means, and Wolverine really struggles trying to articulate this. E.g. Cyclops tells Wolverine to “deal” with a threat, intending for Wolverine to just knock them out, Wolverine misunderstands this because Cyke didn’t tell him what to do at all, ends up doing the wrong thing, gets yelled at, rinse your hands and repeat

Loves saying “snikt” as a stim. However, due to societal pressures, he smokes instead to get a similar effect.

Only uses one brand of cigar consistently. If someone offers one, he’ll take it because it’s better than nothing, but he won’t buy any other kind other than the one he has. Is it old? Yes. Is it not even that good? Yes. But it’s routine.

Wolverine and the X-Men centred: Emma Frost slowly realised Wolverine was on the spectrum, and started treating him the same way she would one of her neurodivergent students, but still with the respect she would give an adult (and the no-shit-taken attitude she has with him). Wolverine didn’t know why Emma was suddenly so interested in trying to ‘get’ him, and after confronting her proceeded to flip his entire fuck when she told him why. He didn’t hit her, it was barely even directed at her. He just angrily stammered for five minutes and rambled to the ceiling while pacing back and forth before going away for two days. Emma and Logan then proceeded to have little sessions where she would teach him the coping mechanisms she had taught her own students

He also has a bad habit of eating his own cigars whenever he’s stressed. He’ll be chewing on it, thinking about something, and then suddenly whoopsie-doodle it’s gone and now his throat tingles. Sometimes he does it intentionally, much to the disgust of the other X-Men.

Scratches himself a lot. It’s both a stim and a nervous tic from the adamantium transfer, where he, for days after, would constantly itch and claw at his skin to try and alleviate the painful sensations

Wolverine also tends to gnaw at himself. Due to his healing factor, evidence of this is difficult to find, but he’ll randomly bite at his own skin until it bleeds, sometimes seeming unaware of the fact he’s doing it

Ok last stimming one: his dog tags. They’re his comfort item and a stim. He’ll fiddle with them when he’s anxious, and sometimes he’ll even chew on them. The latter is incredibly easy to notice despite him having his hand over his mouth to not arouse suspicion, due to the sound of metal grinding against metal

This one is more centred on the movies, specifically Origins: only Sabretooth knows. He knew Logan was diagnosed with something when they were young, and later found out it was likely some form of neurodivergence that no one in the 1800s really knew about. When they were younger, Logan got really attached to Creed since Creed would explain things to him in a blunt manner, which was a far cry from and much easier to understand than the flowery language of everyone around him

Goes non verbal a heck ton, usually only talking in grunts and growls. He isn’t intentionally trying to be rude, but he’s stopped caring wether or not people think he is.

Has a habit of suddenly jerking back his neck or cracking his knuckles pretty aggressively mid-conversation surely for the Sensory GoodnessTM

Loves rain. And I mean loves rain. He always acts really chill whenever it’s raining outside, since the noise is calming to him. Thunder and lightning spook him, though he won’t admit it

He was scared absolutely shitless when he first saw fireworks. Half was because of war flashbacks, the other was IT’S TOO DAMN LOUD

Got the word “bub” off of Alpha Flight. When any member would say it, he’d repeat it over and over again under his breath. The word just feels good.

Would rather just…not talk. At all. It’s one of the few benefits he sees to being friends with telepaths - he doesn’t NEED to talk to them.

On rare occasions, when he does talk, it sounds completely incomprehensible. It usually ends with him getting incredibly frustrated since no one can understand what he’s saying

Hates malls. The noises, the smells, the stupid stupid LIGHTS- it’s all awful. He has had a meltdown inside of one; it ended with him curled up in a ball inside a clothes rack, practically pulling at his hair with his eyes screwed shut. The X-Men that came with him - Storm, Rogue, and Jubilee - were looking for him for hours. It took them a good few minutes to coax him out, since it was like he couldn’t hear them. Xavier was furious at Wolverine’s “immature behaviour in a public place” and decided sensory overload training would have to be added to the Danger Room’s capabilities. (Because Charles is an asshole)

reki with tourette’s headcanons

so. @zukkaclawthorne got me hooked on reki with ts and now imma post headcanons i wrote oops

okay so first—that little skateboard he plays with??? stim toy, actually.

he likes the sound the wheels make—that whirrrrrr sound. it makes his arms flappy :)

he also finds the rolling motion soothing and relaxing and it always calms him down—it takes his mind to a happy place

he rocks back and forth and shakes his legs a lot. that also contributed to why he was terrible at skateboarding the first few times he tried—because his body would be like “time to rock back and forth!” and it would mess him up

neck twitches for days :)

no but for real—neck twitching is one of his worst tics because sometimes—if he’s in a bad mood or if he’s sad or anxious—it gets harsh and violent and really strains his neck.

so, langa gives him neck / upper back neck massages to help with the pain

he went through this phase for a couple of months where whenever his neck would twitch, he would snap his fingers two times.

he has a lot of hand tics which can be stressful when he makes skateboards because sometimes he’ll be in the groove and then suddenly he’ll mess something up

speaking of messing things up, he has a tendency to dig the bottom of his palm into his forehead whenever he feels like he does something stupid—he doesn’t even realize it until someone points it out.

he feels like even more of a failure of a skater because of his tics because they can hold him back and make the course more dangerous.

if his blinking tic resurfaces, sometimes the blinking gets so intense that he literally cannot see for anywhere between five seconds and a minute depending on how bad it is. that is how he got some of his worst scars.

or sometimes he’ll make a really aggressive hand motion and it throws him off balance on the skateboard due to the intensity

anyways back to hand tics: he points a lot and does symbols like the “rock on” sign or certain numbers (for some reason, the most common number for reki to throw up is four—though sometimes he throws up whatever number he hears) he also grunts a lot as a tic so he sounds angry even when he is’t.

sometimes, his hand tics really hurt and his hands become shaky and his fingers start to feel the way his heart feels when he’s anxious. langa helps in different ways—he holds reki’s hand, he gives him something to fidget with to try to distract him (sometimes it’s his own fingers—he’ll just set them in reki’s palm and be like “let me carry some of the pain”—no, reki didn’t totally cry when he said that what)

sometimes, reki sticks pencils in his ears. his teachers have been trying to stop it since he was young, but he always did it anyways—he couldn’t help it.

his hair is also long enough for him to chew on. yes, he chews on the tips of his hair because i say so. sometimes, to stop him from doing that (and from swallowing his own hair), langa will try to make him laugh so it falls out of his mouth and then he’ll scoot close and tuck the hair behind reki’s ears… once they start dating, he kisses him too. but also that’s one reason why he wears the headband—to try to keep his hair out of his face so he doesn’t chew on it.

reki’s favorite form of stimming (other than his skateboard toy, that is) is stress balls. he’s got a couple of stress balls in his room or backpack—even one with string attached so he can carry it around his wrist. he just really likes the texture of them.

after his second race against adam, cherry and joe were so proud of him and also impressed and worried dads that they bought reki a big stress ball, like, the size of a stuffed animal. it was a blue cat. he uses it all the time.

speaking of fricking adam, we all know he would so use reki’s tics against him during a race. like, when he grabbed his wrist and “danced” with him, he would mock reki’s tics or say creepy things about how his verbal tics are music and his motor tics are him dancing along and it makes him so uncomfortable and like even more shaken

oh and adam purposely does things to trigger his tics, like when i mentioned that number tic??? yeah, adam will purposefully say numbers to make reki do the hand gestures

one time, reki wanted to tell langa that he loved him but got nervous so he signed it in sign language instead. but, since reki’s tics are occasionally hand gestures, langa thought that it was just a tic and mentally was like “i wish that was for me…” and reki is like “i wish he knew it was real…” and joe, cherry, shadow, and miya are all facepalming and groaning at their obliviousness

reki prefers taking hand written notes to electronic notes because he draws / doodles to stim and he can’t really doodle well on a laptop. so, he’ll doodle in class all of the time

sometimes, his pictures / notes turn out pretty bad / illegible depending on how bad his tics are, but that doesn’t phase reki. it used to when he was younger, but it doesn’t bother him at all anymore. in fact, he thinks it adds personality

during class, he’ll draw pictures for langa and slid them on his desk. they’re usually really random things like the teacher or the back of someone’s head or squiggly lines or whatever he sees outside. more often than not, it’s abstract art. langa loves these drawings and he keeps them all on his desk in his room.

reki also started drawing pictures for the rest of the sk8 crew and gives it to them during races. when he gave everyone their first doodle, he was like “i’m not the best artist ever and sometimes my tics mess up the doodle, but i thought of you while i drew it so i want you to have it”

(shadow didn’t shed a couple of unwilling dad tears when he got home that night what)

anyways, they all keep them. every single one. miya puts them in their school binder so they don’t feel as alone / isolated at school.

although shadow and miya give reki a lot of crap / teasing about not being as good as everyone else, the second they hear anyone comment about “the weird red head that makes noises” and comments on his ts in a negative way, oh, they will stop you.

sometimes, reki whispers words he hears under his breath as a tic (echolalia, baby~) and when he overhears people saying stuff about “that redhead that always follows snow around” or about him not being good enough or how he’s an idiot to face adam, he ends up muttering that too. and it’s not a one and done kind of thing—like. he does it for days. it makes him so upset (and i already hc him, with depression so it just makes it worse)

having tics while having injuries is not a good combination—especially if it’s with a broken arm. the crew made sure to keep an eye of reki’s comfort / pain level after adam broke his arm and literally tried to kill him in their final race. joe let reki squeeze his hand whenever he felt the urge to tic and cherry would ask him how much pain he was in after he ticced and depending on how bad it would be, would make joe or shadow fetch a heating pad or an icepack for reki.

joe also taught reki about the magical thing called physical therapy tape and helped him put it on his shoulders, neck, and back one time. it was his idea to use the tape on reki’s fingers when he was injured to make him feel better (because it literally makes my fingers feel better)

also langa kisses each of reki’s fingers and knuckles, slowly and tenderly, soft so he doesn’t hurt him or trigger a tic. a way of showing that he loves him not despite his tics, but even with his tics and that he loves him and his tics.

cherry isn’t always the best at showing he cares, so he’ll wear a ts ribbon sometimes in a way to show support (and it makes reki beam)

shadow once gave reki a flower shaped stress ball because there were “extra at work” (not true—he went looking for one)

miya didn’t really know much about ts at first and asked why reki made those noises and made weird movements all the time and langa explained so then that night when miya got home, they did research on ts so they could understand it better. later, they told reki that whenever they called him a slime, they meant it purely about skateboarding and it had nothing to do with his tics—even that his tics didn’t make him less of a skater

all his life, reki had been the different one: the one no one wanted on the team because sometimes his tics messed him up, the one who was asked to leave classes during tests because his tics were too distracting and made him take the test in the hall, when sometimes he’d get too overwhelmed by how close people were in the halls or at races and would have panic attacks, how he rocked in his chair and adjusted his position seventeen times an hour and sat on his feet while the other kids didn’t, how he shook his legs more aggressively than others, how he couldn’t skate as well as everyone else because of his tics and because he wasn’t good enough

which is probably part of the depression that weighs on his shoulders

the first time reki had a panic attack during a race due to closeness and overstimulating noises (and this is the first one after the sk8 crew happened) langa was racing and wasn’t there to help, so shadow kind of panicked and like picked him up under the armpits and carried him away from the crowd since reki could barely process anything other than panic and the sound and feeling of static and they sat in shadow’s car for the rest of the race and once he felt better, he gave shadow a huge hug and shadow returned it.

one time it happened and cherry was nearby and he saw the signs before it got bad (remembered from the previous time / his own experiences) and helped talk reki down before it got bad (he has a soothing voice)

usually, though, when / if it happens (because reki usually feels safe there), langa is the one who helps

but it got so much worse after skating against adam the first time because he no longer felt safe and suddenly everyone cheering adam’s name even after witnessing what he did to reki was too much but langa was racing adam so langa wasn’t there and this time it was joe who kneeled in front of him and started talking just loud enough for reki to hear and he was like “you’re safe—we won’t let anyone hurt you. we won’t let him hurt langa. you’re safe. i’m here and so is cherry and shadow and miya and langa will be waiting for you at the end of the race…”

it happens again at the next race he goes to—and this time it’s miya who notices and they tug on langa’s sleeve and is like “i think you need to take reki somewhere else” and langa does :)

okay i’ll end on a positive ts note or two—langa asks reki to add the ts ribbon to the design on his skateboard

shadow finds chewelry at the store one day when he’s shopping and buys it for reki (and gets a matching one for langa!)

once reki came back after his mental health break, the first thing joe said to him was, and this is nonnegotiable “reki! i missed you and your tics!”

miya once overheard reki muttering to himself about his annoying tics were, so they intervened and was like “your tics aren’t annoying. they’re you and anyone who think s they’re annoying is an idiot”

and for the first time in his life, reki doesn’t feel alone and isolated and so different from everyone (at least, he’s working on that last one) and he’s finally found a group of people who want him on their team and a boyfriend who always supports him and makes him feel less isolated, tics and all <3

He's horrible for texture. There's only 2 or 3 textures he can wear and absolutely dreads testing fabric swatches because of it. It doesn't take long for fabric testing to become 'Nathalie's thing'

Sleeves, he's incredibly nitpicky with sleeves. He can wear long sleeves just fine but if he doesn't have his jacket on he has to roll them up to his elbows and can't have them any lower, but he can't wear short sleeves. He can't wear vests as he feels there should be sleeves. And he can't wear ¾ lengths as he doesn't like that it stops past his elbow.

He prefers wearing turtlenecks and high collars. He only wears crewneck sweaters (and usually has a fake collar or shirt on underneath) and T-shirts. Absolutely no v-necks.

He can't wear too many layers, so he takes coats over sweaters.

He has to wear socks with trousers. But can't wear socks with shorts. Though he rarely wears shorts unless they're swimming trunks or he's in his boxers.

He has to sleep shirtless. He only doesn't if he's passed out unwillingly.

He can't drink milky tea, it tastes dry. He can't eat yoghurts for the same reason.

Skin-to-skin contact is incredibly comforting for him. When he and Nathalie get together he likes bathing with her for this reason. He's also a sucker for shirtless cuddles.

Scratching his head, pulling his hair or just running his hand through it are go-to stims for him.

Fidgeting with his ring is a canon stim, and cracking his knuckles and tapping his stylus against the side of his drawing tablet are also main stims.

He doesn't have many vocal stims other than 'spread my feathers' and 'Tut tut.'

I feel like he and Nathalie would mirror or at least pick up on each others stims.

He needs explicit and clear confirmation for anything. He also needs things explained to him in a specific way.

He goes non-verbal at the nearest sign of distress.

He has to have some level of noise. He can't stand pure silence but he also doesn't like anything over speaking volume.

If he's on public transport he has to have a window seat.

His comfort foods are coffee, sunflower seeds, grapes, and watermelon.

He doesn't like anyone touching him. Physical contact is distressing enough to render him non-verbal.

His special interest is Fashion. With cooking as a close second.

He's very fussy about boundaries and organisation. He doesn't like using things that aren't his even if it's lent to him. This is also the reason Gabriel would have a hard time coming around to calling Nathalie 'peahen' as, in his head, that's Hawkmoth's thing.

He's always semi-verbal in public spaces, no one really notices as when he does talk he talks loud enough to compensate for two people.

Organisation in regard to objects is a no, unless it can be organised by colour. If you look long enough there's usually a gradient of colour you can follow among his possessions. Other than that he knows where everything is, but no one else is going to be able to navigate it.

He has echolalia.

He's undiagnosed.

He's hypersensitive to pain this is why he hates getting vaccines. Ironically I feel like he'd have had snake bites when he was younger (with how much he frowns in canon I feel like playing with the snake bites would be another main stim), maybe even a tongue piercing.

He tends to become aggressive during meltdowns, especially in public, he just wants to get to a quiet area away from everybody. Balling his fists and pacing would be signs he's having a meltdown or at least is nearing one.

He has difficulty with empathy. He'd find it easier to calm someone down by making them food, or giving them a gift, or giving them something to distract them with. Rather than actually solving the problem.

His love language is touch and giftgiving, so he likely isn't one for verbal affection so him and Nathalie are already dating long before he ever verbally says 'I love you' and the first time he does it renders Nathalie non-verbal for a few seconds.

Hawkmoth canonically stims by spinning his cane. But in general tossing it about would also give the same effect.

Gabriel's aromantic in an allistic sense which led to him overcompensating with giving Emilie gifts as he didn't feel like he was affectionate enough with her and could sense her indifference.

A raging insomniac, doesn't have any discipline enforced in regards to Adrien's sleep as he's no better himself.

He'll either be flat out by 8pm or he'll be up till 5am.

He has to keep his hands busy, this is one of the reasons he learned to sew.

Most of his hobbies are hands-on, sewing, drawing, painting, cooking.

Adrien

His main comfort foods are slices of cucumber and passionfruit macarons and triangle ham sandwiches.

He likes stim toys that make noise. And chewllery.

He's understimulated for colour. If it was up to him his room would be a lot more colourful.

He doesn't like the dark as it feels suffocating, he can only turn the lights off because he's got the light from the streetlights coming through his window.

He has to hit the light switch 3 times. He can't just flick it off.

He taught himself to write backwards.

Vocal stims, mostly vocal stims, 'Blep' 'Bap' 'Doobidoo' etc, or popular voice lines from a show he's watched/character he likes.

He has a vocal stim of Ladybug's 'miraculous ladybug' that started off as Chat mimicking her but became a stim.

Any physical stims are typically full body stims, like: spinning, rocking back and forth (this is one he picked up from Nathalie), jumping up and down, and spinning around in his chair.

He doesn't like people in his personal space.

He likes the summer because it allows him to wear the textures he likes the most. But he doesn't like the heat. It makes him feel small and sticky.

He has a cataclysm hand stim.

Plagg mimics his vocal stims.

Adrien developed a 'blehk' stim because of Plagg.

He needs tone indicators.

He misses social cues.

He doesn't feel the cold until he's out of it, and has nearly gotten frostnip several times.

He doesn't like long sleeves.

He likes learning new things.

He easily retains new information but has difficulty revising.

Exams and assessments often lead to meltdowns as he can't apply the knowledge he knows he has in an exam setting.

He likes sitting cross-legged.

He prefers sitting on the floor, or chair

His favourite texture is sand. He loved the beach and sandpits as a kid.

He doesn't like swimming or any form of water sports as he doesn't like getting wet. The water itself makes him feel dry and it frustrates him.

On his worst texture days Adrien has to stand in the shower with his clothes on otherwise he wouldn't shower at all. As a kid he'd only get in the bath if he had a swimsuit on.

His special interest is film & media, specifically visual storytelling.

He can't eat full meals due to the mismatched textures between the different foods on his plate. He has to eat each section on its own and won't eat the bits of each section that have touched the other sections. He was still using sectioned plates up until he was 8 so he'd actually eat his meal especially since his portions were smaller when he was little. Sometimes he'll only have one bit of food on his plate at a time.

Adrien was very easily overstimulated by public spaces as a little kid hence why he was homeschooled but it eventually led to understimulation.

Adrien doesn't have any toys because he never played with them, had no interest in playing at all. The most he'd play would be if he was in a sandpit or on freshly mowed grass. And that usually consisted of constructing bird nests out of grass shavings or making piles of sand and then levelling it out again. Or turning the sandpit into a village, or at least an attempt at such.

Adrien liked to write scripts as a kid, hence his special interest in film & media.

He has echolalia like his father and Nathalie.

Tapping is an easy stim to hide and one of his main public ones. He types a lot and doesn't mind piano practice as it's a subtle way for him to stim.

I feel like he'd have been diagnosed young because Emilie was concerned about his lack of talking as a kid. If he wasn't then he wouldn't be diagnosed until he became an adult as I can't see Gabriel getting concerned about it. A 'I was like that as a kid, he'll be fine' type mindset.

Adrien's meltdowns are vocal, he'll start muttering and pulling at his hair or picking skin which will eventually escalate to him screaming or crying and throwing his hands around once he's gotten away from people.

Chat Noir stims by playing with his bell, running his claws across surfaces, pressing his hands together and pulling them apart and playing with his tail.

He can only handle certain noises at certain volumes. He doesn't mind muttering, but the hum of electricity bothers him. He can handle loud music but yelling and large rounds of cheering and applauding overwhelm him.

He's fine with any texture so long as it isn't form-fitting. Being Chat Noir originally frustrated him when he realised his suit was form-fitting but he's usually fine so long as he ignores the feeling of the suit and stims regularly.

He can't be aware he's eating, it puts him off whatever he's eating. The motion of eating makes him nauseous.

He struggles with social constructs like gender, binary sexuality and monogomy.

He only gets 4-5 hr intervals of sleep at once. He typically takes a nap between fencing and Chinese if there's no shoots he has to go to.

Nathalie

She's mostly non-verbal, save for those she's comfortable with. She's generally considered to be mute by her coworkers and interns are often surprised when they hear her speak. She's very dependent on eye-contact and hand gestures for non-verbal communication, this a large reason people think she's intimidating.

She handles meetings and keeps foot notes so she can explain it to Gabriel afterwards if there's anything he can't understand.

She experiences alterous attraction. And would generally consider herself alloaro.

She struggles with tone but is fine with inference.

She has both ADHD and Autism.

She likes the feeling of pressure, so someone lying on top of her, weighted blankets, layers, piercings.

Her special interest is History. However she has a lot of random pieces of information due to her hyperfixations on different subjects. Magic, linguistics, literature and psychology, I feel like would be things she knows a lot about, and obviously fashion because of Gabriel infodumping.

Her and Gabriel will infodump to each other.

She used to teach Adrien extra information when she was tutoring him if she had extra knowledge on the topic. She found it was an effective way of keeping him engaged.

She's hypersensitive and easily overstimulated by quiet noise but needs loud music/noise to function, this is why her desk is near the window so she can hear the cars going by outside. She also has her office window open a lot. And she has a set of headphones within reach at all times.

Nathalie can't drink water by itself. She can drink it in things, like juice and coffee but not by itself.

Nathalie doesn't understand the gender binary or roles, hence why Mayura's design is more based on the peacock rather than the peahen, she just thinks the males look prettier. She's gnc/genderfluid.

Nathalie really likes animal symbolism and secretly loves the peahen nickname Hawkmoth has for her.

She has a vocal stim that's 'Fly away my little akuma,' and on multiple occasions she's had to frantically explain to Gabriel she's not taking the mick out of him which often times he hasn't even realised she's said it.

Nathalie likes wearing mismatched fabrics for the different textures. Gabriel can't understand it as he's very limited to what textures he can wear due to his own sensory issues.

She likes having things around her neck, like chokers/necklaces or turtle necks, or scarves. She also pulls blankets upto her chin because of this despite it not really having the same effect.

She likes form-fitting clothes.

She likes wearing body suits and turtle neck singlets.

She doesn't like wearing sleeves of any form. (I hc she has to keep her arms covered due to tattoos.)

She has several physical stims like: Tapping, Snapping her fingers (like when she's walked into a room and can't remember why), Clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth, Making a pop sound with her lips, pushing up on the balls of her feet, and playing with her piercings (if you hc she has them).

Full body stims include: her slowly rotating from left to right and vice versa while rotating her wrists or flapping her hands, and flopping (She's scared Gabriel on multiple occasions by doing this cause he thinks she's having a fall).

She also likes the feel of pressing her face against something, such as: Into her pillow, her forehead against her desk. If/when her and Gabriel are together she likes to press her face into the base of his neck so that his chin is resting on her head. She also likes to press her forehead into the space between his shoulder blades when she's hugging him from behind.

She doesn't like humidity and she doesn't like the texture of the air during the summer.

Going hand-in-hand with the aforementioned point she really likes winter but doesn't like being too cold, especially since it makes the pain worse.

Nathalie prefers layering over a bulky coat, Gabriel has tried on multiple occasions to convince her to buy a coat but she refuses and would rather wear several layers instead. Canonically she only has one work outfit but I like to think her winter wardrobe is mostly sweaters and oversized shirts.

She can't wear socks, no matter the texture she just can't she doesn't like having things on her feet but she has to wear shoes. One of the few pros of being on bed rest she can be barefoot.

Nathalie doesn't really have problems with touching things in regards to texture unless it's wet or slimey, so she likes to feel the new fabric swatches when they come in. (Gabriel having noted which fabrics she had a positive reaction to and using them whenever he makes her clothes).

She likes wearing rings and other pieces of jewellery.

I know canonically she now has the exo-skeleton but in the event she ever uses a wheelchair she uses one she can push herself. And likes to push herself back and forth whenever she's still.

She would also stim with her cane, tapping it, or tapping the ground with the end of it.

The only person other than her that she let's wash her hair is Gabriel as he's the only person that can do it right. She also likes the feeling of him braiding it whenever he offers too.

She doesn't like having her hair down. It makes her feel like somethings crawling on her.

She prides herself on organisation. I feel like she'd go by colour -> chronological -> numerical -> alphabetical. However she has no sense of organisation when it comes to herself. She doesn't have a sense of 'this is her thing, and this is Mayura's thing' she is Mayura so that's her thing too.

I think she's a creative thinker, and I feel like she struggled academically because of the structured way they wanted her to learn.

She has two moods, hyperfocus and infodump, or executive dysfunction. This is why she works herself into the ground because once she's stopped it doesn't exist to her anymore.

She has no emotional permanence. So she has difficulty missing people because any emotions she had towards them aren't there when they're not taking up her immediate attention. She still feels that way towards them, just can't while they're not there.

She talks to herself aloud. She also talks to inanimate objects.

I feel like she has lexical-gustatory synesthesia as well (she senses words written or spoken, as well as non-lexical sounds like music, as distinct tastes, smells and textures either in her mouth or in her head) and there's specific words she refuses to say because of it.

All three of them have echolalia and it leads to them passing stims around like pokemon.

Nathalie has a lot of piercings and uses them to stim. I feel like she'd get her tongue split too. Personally, body modification was Nathalie's go to thing to satiate her need for physical pressure, it was a bonus that it gave her new ways to stim.

Nathalie's meltdowns consist of complete mutism, gripping her arms or thighs, leaning and pushing herself against a wall, hitting her head, or while she's on bedrest tying herself in her sheets and lying on the floor.

She'd rock back and forth.

Mayura would also rock back and forth, but she often uses her coattail to stim by swishing it back and forth or spinning. She also likes clicking her fan open and shut for the noise and tapping her thumb and forefinger together, specifically the hand she calls back amoks with.

Mayura would also stim telepathically. "Hawkmoth: Fly away my little akuma and evi— Bap Bap Bap Bap."

Her comfort foods are coffee and noodles and chicken nuggets. I can't imagine Nathalie having posh comfort foods. Uber eats McDonald's to the mansion.

She gets overwhelmed in emotional situations and isn't good with verbal consolation. She relies on physical touch to comfort someone.

Hunger is painful for Nathalie but she can distract herself from it. However if she doesn't answer to the pain she physically struggles to eat at any other time. There's only specific times her body will accept food.

She's not a fan of light, she prefers lamps over ceiling lights.

She likes the night time, and since the night is really the only times she can get anything done she tends to go to bed early so she can be up during the night. At least while on bed rest I feel she'd take advantage and nap throughout the day.

She only tends to sleep in intervals of 4 hrs. (Both Gabriel and Adrien work on similar schedules so its normal for the house to be awake at 3am).

She purposely puts large gaps in Adrien's schedule so he can get extra sleep if he needs it.

MILGRAM theory time: Haruka!

This isn't going to go super in depth (famous last words) but there's a few heavily debated parts of Haruka's MV I want to share my findings/thoughts on because I think this is my new special interest and during my quest to get best boy's song to 1 million views I have been looking over his first MV with a fine tooth comb so to speak.

Disclaimer: As the Jackalope said in the "This is the MILGRAM" trailer, we don't necessarily know everyone's crime from just the first video, its possible that a lot of things will be re-contextualized in the second MV, however I am not psychic or bilingual and thus will only be working with content released before August 20th 2021 and translated into English (which could cause some language/cultural details to be lost on me as translation is not a 1 to 1 process).

TW for discussions of ableism, child abuse, murder and animal death. Also this is really long so sorry to all the people that follow me for non-MILGRAM stuff

Firstly, I want to start on the topic of Haruka as a person. He is disabled. He does not have 'the mind of a child' (although he is 17, making him legally a minor in both North America and Japan). He is not just 'child-like'. And he is not mentally ill (well he might be, in the sense that many disabilities like Haruka's have strong comorbidities [where a person has two or more conditions but neither directly causes the other] with anxiety, depression and PTSD, but usually when I see people talk about him 'struggling with mental illness' they go on to refer to aspects of his disability). Sometimes on tumblr, people like myself, will see canonical traits written into a character and identify them as being traits associated with our disabilities/mental illness and headcanon them as such. Sometimes this even involves saying things like "It's basically canon!" Although we understand that these characters were probably not the result of a writer intending to write a disabled person. When I say that Haruka is being written as a person with a neurodevelopmental disability, I mean the writer intended to write a disabled character and wrote them in a way that they wanted the audience to pick up on. As an autistic person (which is one of many neurodevelopmental disorders and also something I probably didn't have to specify because who else would be writing an essay about a series they got into a few days ago at 11 o'clock at night) I really like how Haruka has been written so far. There's definitely some parts of him that have been exaggerated so abled normies can pick up on his disability (namely how his MV 's main motif is really child-like drawings) but the writers also included a lot of smaller details I appreciate like how it is noted he avoids eye contact when talking to other people and is depicted as nervously pulling at his sleeves in official artwork, or how he says he finds his prison uniform (which has tight straps) 'relaxing' and when he gets nervous/tense, he will dig his fingernails into the palm of his hands. (These last two potential being examples of 'self stimulation' [aka stimming] where a person seeks out specific sensory stimuli in order to help regulate their nervous system/emotions, in this case the tight uniform creates a comforting, secure feeling [you may have heard about some people preferring to sleep under weighted blankets for this reason] and digging nails into his palms sounds uncomfortable/painful but is done in an attempt to deal with a greater sensory discomfort caused by the situation/environment) I also appreciate the depth he is written with, he struggles to communicate verbally but in his MV and interactions with other inmates is shown to have insecurities, opinions and a consistent thought process (this is all basic character stuff but unfortunately not always present in disabled characters)

Also I want to add that (in terms of what we've been shown so far) Haruka did not kill anyone because of his disability/mental illness. Disabled people are not inherently more innocent than abled people. But there is no disability/mental illness where a symptom is that you kill people and real people have to live with the stigma when you speak carelessly and suggest things like "Haruka is the kind of mentally ill person who kills people as a cry for help" 🧂 (or at the very least real people have to read BS like that and cringe). TL;DR Haruka is less child-like and more onion-like (as in, he has layers) 🧅🧅🧅

Now is the actual theory stuff, oops:

Every prisoner in MILGRAM is supposed to have committed murder in some way, obviously considering Yuno just had an abortion (which i personally do not consider an act of murder) whilst Mu literally stabbed someone to death, this definition is stretched a bit. But it is not agreed upon yet who Haruka killed/how many people he killed or why he killed.

In his MV he is shown to have chased after his dog into a forest, seen something off-screen, then beaten something into a messy pulp with a rock. Some people think the dog is a red herring and that Haruka actually killed his mother/the girl from the fireworks show/his brother. I do not agree.

First: I believe Haruka when he says he doesn't have a brother. The MV literally starts by Haruka looking in the mirror and then switching between the him now

and a really similar looking younger child who just so happened to be a key feature of his memories (I don't have the vocabulary to explain it but its like cinematic parallels that establish this is the same person at different points of their life)

Its not impossible that this is Haruka's secret younger brother, but i think its unlikely. I saw someone saying they had to be different people because Haruka looks less happy than the child but like, most 17 year olds are less visibly happy than when they were 7 (or however old the child is meant to be). Life happens.

So when Haruka is shown pushing the child around and eventually strangling him, this isn't meant to be literal (homicide or suicide), but a representation of how conflicted Haruka feels about his younger self, who may have committed the murder (if you've ever been kept awake cringing at memories of something you said in the past and wishing you could go slap some sense into your former self, this is like that but 10 times more self loathing). The lyric "I am always repeating yesterday," implies he might think about this specific past event a lot.

Moving on, its pretty well accepted that Haruka's parents were abusive in some way and Haruka internalised a lot of it: he constantly apologises, he says in his interrogation questions that his one wish come true is that "[he] want[s] to be loved" and describes in his MV how when he couldn't find the words he was looking for ("you're unfair") one of his parents "would get angry at me and say “You’re hopeless.”". He seems to know its unfair but also still says he 'loves' his family, possibly mistakenly believing it is his fault, but also showing an awareness of his situation (and how his parents might behave).

Now, the MV is stylised in a way that makes certain details unclear, but there is one clear detail showing that Haruka's dog was killed

This is the first close up of Haruka and the dog. Haruka's mother is just out of frame supervising, but they look pretty happy. Notice how the puppy has a silvery chain for a collar. Somehow, this dog gets out of the house but only Haruka is shown chasing after it (whether his mother was searching elsewhere or didn't bother following her disabled son into the forest is unclear). Either way, young Haruka is now in the forest, unsupervised.

By the time he finds the dog, there is already blood, suggesting it was initally attacked by something else.

is this a sigh of relief from a boy whose finally found his beloved pet or a jealous weakling glad that nature took its course and he is finally free of that meddling mutt stealing all his mummy's attention? /j

I think this shock at the discovery that 'there is blood on his hands' could imply that rather than literally getting the blood from his dog, Haruka has seen his already injured dog and realises that if the dog got out because of him (he is previously shown to be aware his parents seem to blame him for everything) then he is the reason his dog is injured/dying and will be blamed for it. (this scene plays over the lyrics "It’s fine, though it’s really not It’s really fine, though I don’t really think so When I tried to understand it, You’ll make that disappointed face again" suggesting he is trying to avoid making his parents disappointed and letting the family pet escape into danger is something that could make them very disappointed)

now we get into rock murder (this is present-day Haruka implying that this is either: not how the scene really played out; the writers really wanting the audience to know that this was Haruka's doing and not someone else's; or this turns into a separate incident that happened much later [although note that the red sky and blue moon is the same as when young Haruka first appears at the start])

b the corpse is beyond mangled now, but its clearly the dog because the silver chain collar is still there, to the right of the body. (circled in red for your convenience :3)

My hypothesis is: Haruka didn't set out to kill his dog, but upon finding it injured (we don't know the severity aside from bleeding and also it not being able to run away from Haruka kneeling down above it w/ a big rock so it could range from treatable with a lot of vet help to already on death's door, TBH I don't think Haruka would know the difference) He knew he'd be blamed for this; made into a villain who let the poor puppy come to harm. He panicked and killed the dog out of some idea that it would make him the victim here (since he'd be found crying over a dog corpse, which might make a parent go comfort him rather than getting angry about what could've happened to the dog). This is over the lyrics: "I cried, I screamed I wanted to be a pitied and loved weakling I was in denial, I was in denial I just had to make sure I’ve become a victim, I’ve become a victim" (there's another theory that he was also jealous of the dog, which could work here too, since this is not some calculated plot; rather its a rash decision) This ties in with his Japanese song title (translated as Weakness) which is a play on a phrase sort of like "The strong eat, the weak do not" to become "The weak are eaten by society" or "The weak eat each other to survive" [once again I am reminding everyone this is based on second hand information from the youtube comments section (from users mitchki and Alphaistic) because I do not speak Japanese] This second meaning (The weak eat each other to survive) makes sense under the reading that Haruka killed his dog in order to 'survive' making his parents disappointed for the dog escaping.

Miscellaneous points:

We don't know where Haruka's necklace came from yet, it must be a gift since the most expensive thing he's ever bought was cotton candy. The younger child in the video isn't wearing it and neither is his mother or the girl in the purple dress.

Haruka's home seems quite big, at the start we can see a large flower garden outside the window and there's a forest in walking distance. This might suggest his family is quite wealthy

Haruka probably did go to school at some point as homeschooling is not a legally accepted as an alternative to public schools in Japan. (However it is estimated that up to 5000 families homeschool, this is uncommon) A lot (about 62%) of Japanese schools apparently have a 'special needs' classes and there are about 505 schools focused on educating intellectually disabled students (although I do not know which sort Haruka would've needed as whilst intellectual and development disabilities can be comorbid they aren't the same). Now, if children aged 7-14 don't go to school, their parents receive a fine, but its possible that if Haruka's parents are wealthy, they just paid it to avoid sending him to school. (This might imply they wanted to hide him or were generally ashamed of him in some way) However high school education (for students over 14) is not legally required and its likely that even if Haruka went to elementary/middle school, he hasn't been around people his own age in at least 3 years. As he seems quite lonely and glad that the other prisoners give him attention.

I don't think Haruka's parents are divorced and if they are, its not his father who left. Haruka mentions in the 30 questions that he thinks he disappointed his father. But still includes him as part of his family ("My father and mother and me"). A theory I've seen is that his father was disappointed by his son being disabled and left. but developmental disabilities (especially in non verbal and semi verbal children like Haruka) can be diagnosed before the age of 3, so I feel it is unlikely that Haruka would bring up his father if he left that early in Haruka's life

All MILGRAM prisoners have covered one of DECO*27's older vocaloid songs (DECO*27 is a well known producer who composes the music for MILGRAM) Haruka covered 'Two Breaths Walking' (https://youtu.be/puXLfVWrz2Q) which is about a boy's first relationship and how his mother's jealousy set him up for failure as the relationship becomes toxic (specifically it has some very funny out of context lines like "Whose breasts are you sucking on now?") so yeah, mommy issues: the song (Also: some people say in the song, the boy kills the girl at the end, but this isn't literal, TBW is the first of a trilogy of songs about the same relationship, it is followed by Android girl then Two Breaths Walking: Reloaded and the story resolves with the couple reuniting as adults and getting in the relationship again, although its not necessarily as abusive as before, its still implied to be codependant ending on the line 'We should live like oxygen tanks, sucking breathe from the words each of us exhale, until our last breathe')

In all seriousness, the scene where younger Haruka is walking through the city with his mother but it keeps repeating until older Haruka pulls the younger one away might indicate an attempt to focus the happier memories of his parents (since this is also over the lyrics "Why is it breaking? Tell me why? Please don’t change If I tried and couldn’t say it, You would get angry at me and say “You’re hopeless.”" which depict a worse scene) I think both his parents are still physically present but have become far more emotionally distant, not giving him as much attention, which exacerbates his loneliness from not having any friends his own age to talk to

And if one of his parents did leave? I think its likely his mother since she is shown disappearing out of his reach after the dog-incident (inferring she got angry/disappointed in Haruka anyway) This could also be where he got his necklace from: Its something his mother used to wear (although this is 100% a guess) and that's why its shown to be important to him

This one is just me, but i didn't realise until a rewatch that when Haruka is watching the younger him and the girl running together, the background has fireworks. Haruka mentions fireworks being a key memory to him so I wonder if this was one of the first/last times he got to make a friend...

On three separate occasions in the interrogation, Haruka mentions not liking animals. Despite this, he is depicted as sleeping with a rabbit plush and on his birthday art (I'd include that too but tumblr only allows 10 pictures per post, so here's a link) he is standing next to a giant blueberry and strawberry cake with two bunny themed biscuits at the side. Through my experiences of seeing Japanese fandom art on pixiv, sometimes rabbits are used to insinuate a character is cute and timid in fanart.

Meaningless details: Haruka sleeps with his necklace on; he sleeps on a bed and not a futon; at first I thought he woke up holding his plush's hand but his hand is merely next to the toy; and considering the state of the pillow and blanket, I wonder if he moves a lot in his sleep or if the is just because in this case he seems to be waking up from a nightmare about the dog incident...

so i was thinking about how different disabilities can lead to the same coping mechanism, and so here’s some thoughts about dyslexic rhodey and autistic tony and how they tackle public speaking with a lil mit!rhodeytony drabble at the end! 

rhodey doesn’t use notes or a teleprompter when he does public speaking because trying to read them out loud in real time will only make him trip over his words. most people don’t notice his dyslexia in everyday life because in general, he only ever talks when he knows what he wants to say and has the words to say it, something he learned (was bullied into figuring out) when he was younger. thoughtful pauses before he says something profound or roasts you within an inch of your life are incredibly common, and his verbal flubs are so far and few in between in his adulthood that they fall under the category of “normal.” 

reading and writing are much more difficult, and rhodey would much rather work with his hands and show you how the rocket works with visuals than explain how the rocket works with words. so when it’s time for public speaking... rhodey memorizes like his life depends on it. he puts that genius intellect to work and talks through what he wants to say out loud and then continues to verbally refine it with multiple takes until he’s comfortable with what he’s meant to say and the different ways he can get there. when he gives his speeches, he presents a calm, confident demeanor that masks the days he spent recording and listening and recording some more until he got it right. and everyone gushes about how he’s such a natural at public speaking, and he just smiles politely and hopes he doesn’t have to do this for at least three months because public speaking is hard, and he is tired.

tony doesn’t use notes or a teleprompter because they interrupt his stimming and will throw him off balance. in everyday life, tony’s sweeping gestures and emphatic gesticulations are just the markers of an eccentric genius. the fact that he does them when he’s not talking to anyone is... odd to anyone who will catch him in the act, but that’s the point of being eccentric, right? so as tony grows older, his hand flapping morphs into something he can more easily get away with, something that won’t make howard threaten to lock his wrists in handcuffs so he stops fidgeting so much (at mit, tony escapes from handcuffs as a party trick and lets people make up their own stories as to how he figured that out).

when it comes to giving speeches, tony’s emphatic stimming that gets him through the whole ordeal turns jerky and unnatural if he has to glance down and read something in his hands every so often. having to focus on a teleprompter makes his visual spd start to rear its ugly head and he gets off track and it’s all a very bad time, a very bad time indeed. so tony also memorizes like his life depends on it. he plans out the general structure of speeches, allowing himself to twist and turn wherever his mind takes him as long as he hits his major points. if he goes off course because he gets distracted and accidentally hits part five before part three? well, he reorganizes the chunks in his brain and uses a tangent to circle back, and no one is the wiser because he is a genius. he too is hailed a natural at public speaking, and he flashes a grin before crashing for two days because he needs to recharge.

when rhodey and tony are partners for a project early in their mit days, they breeze through the practical aspect without any problems. they piggyback off of each other and don’t need to explain themselves, and everything is going so smoothly that they forget they have to do a written report and a presentation until the due date is a little over a week out. they both stop and kinda look at each other when they realize, unsure about how to explain that the way their brain works means they need to do things differently. things have been going so well so far, and neither wants to “ruin” it.

eventually, rhodey decides to suffer quietly and offers to start an outline, but tony has such a panicked reaction to the idea that rhodey notices and now tony has to explain that he’s never written an outline a day in his life. he just kind of word vomits and reorganizes until it looks right and then turns that in. presenting pretty much goes the same way, only verbally. rhodey can write an outline and give him note cards, but tony makes no promises to use them because he doesn’t know if he can. 

and he’s nervous and guilty because of course, rhodey is going to get mad, but in actuality, rhodey looks relieved at the confession. he pulls out his tape recorder and says he can’t write outlines for shit because the words swim over the pages and the alphabet is evil, and if tony writes the paper, then he’ll figure out the way the presentation should go if tony doesn’t mind listening to his recordings? 

and tony says hell tf yes and he breaks out his own recorder, and they send tapes back and forth over the next few days. tony writes the final paper and rhodey plots out their presentation and they get a big fat A, and to this day, they’re more likely to send each other voice messages than texts.

Summary: Pranks and Bray cuddle in a hammock while Pranks admires everything about Bray

A/N: Shapa and I came up with how we view the Gremlin Kids (Pranks, Missy, and Imag) and we decided Pranks needed a boyfriend so we came up with Bray. Bray is the most adorable thing ever I love him- Bray is a very soft pastel boy (he's also kinda a Logicality child- but Sha and I haven't completely said that's for sure yet- while Pranks, Missy, and Imag are prinxiety children) and he also has ADHD. His big hyperfixations are animals and animated things (big ones include Winnie the Pooh and Steven Universe) and he is just about the most adorable thing ever. Oh! And Pranks is like 17 or 18 and Bray is a year younger (so 16 or 17)

Pranks smiled softly as he looked down to Bray, who was laying on his chest, asleep. Pranks very slowly rocked the hammock, one of his legs on the ground to do so.

They had only been together for about a month, but this sort of thing was normal for the pair. Bray was very touch oriented. He needed physical reassurances far more than he needed verbal reassurances. Sometimes, Pranks and Bray wouldn't speak, only cuddling and non-verbally communicating. Bray often came up to Pranks for cuddles, even far before they dated or even had feelings for each other.

There were many things Pranks absolutely loved about Bray. He loved how Bray often would rant about the things he loved, no matter the circumstance. When he gets excited, Pranks could listen to him for hours. And the small stims he gives are just about the best thing for Pranks. He loved when Bray would come up to him for no reason and cuddle. He loved when Bray would randomly run up to him, say "love you!", kiss his cheek, and run away again. Most of the times it was in the hallway between classes. He loved the way Bray video calls him every night and talks until he falls asleep.

Oh, and Pranks is so in love with the way Bray looks when he's sleeping. And anytime, really. His gorgeous melanin rich skin that seems like it glows in direct sunlight and looked like the perfect coffee that had just the right amount of creamer to stop tasting bitter and start tasting elegantly sweet. And his tight curly hair that was nearly an Afro when he brushed it all out. Pranks could mess with his hair all day long, no matter how messy or styled it was. Sometimes Bray would pull his hair back into what he called his Pom-Pom hair. Pranks loved the way Bray wasn't perfectly skinny. He loved the small chub Bray had with all of his heart. He loved that Bray was small and could easily fit in his arms. He loved the way Bray could light up the whole room with the smallest of smiles.

Pranks adored the way Bray was best friends with his sibling, Missy, though he hardly admitted it. He loved the way Bray sometimes played pranks on him with Missy. He loved the way Bray indulged Imag's craziest fantasies and dreams without a second thought. He loved the way he would talk with Roman (Pranks' pa) for hours about disney, neither stopping until Virgil told them something was ready to eat or Bray had to go home. He loved that Bray is so comfortable around Virgil that he would sit with him when he was nonverbal and not feel like he was forced to talk. He loved Bray's connection with his family.

He loved how Bray looked so peaceful when he was asleep and he looked so excited when he was awake. It absolutely broke Pranks' heart to see Bray sad and he swore any time anyone hurt Bray they would never live to see how their actions would play out.

Bray gave a small hum in his sleep, cuddling closer to Pranks with a smile. Pranks couldn't stop the grin that appeared on his face at that. He very gently played with Bray's curly deep brown hair, the lighter highlights only showing more in the direct sunlight. Bray leaned into his hand with a happy hum, smiling a bit more.

God, he was so gorgeous. Especially with Pranks' leather jacket on top of him like a blanket, covering his light yellow and pink sweater he was wearing. Bray was what most would call a pastel boy while Pranks was pretty bad boy style- cliche, I know, but they loved each other and that's what mattered.

And how could Pranks possibly forget all of the teasing he got from his siblings about not only liking his sibling's best friend, but also a pastel boy.

But no matter what anyone could possibly say about them, it was worth it.

Every time they had to help each other through something. Every time they went to the other for comfort. Every time they went to get candy at midnight because they couldn't sleep. Every time they would go to the park to watch the fishes and swans and geese and ducks as they swam in the lake. Every time they had a small disagreement. Every time they thought for sure the other would break up with them...

It always led to some of the happiest memories either of them had ever and will ever have.

Pranks couldn't help but reminisce over all of those lovely memories he had with Bray. There was no way he would ever forget any of these.

And Pranks couldn't feel more complete then right here in this hammock.

So after nearly 22 years of life on this planet, I’ve come to the conclusion that I am high functioning autistic. I believe I fell through the cracks of an early diagnosis for the following reasons:

1.) I am Female (I learned how to mask myself very early on)

2.) I have a gifted IQ (above 130) and was classified as such in 4th grade so no one considered that I could be both ASD and intellectually gifted.

I am in the beginning stages of unmasking and am currently seeking an official diagnosis. Right now, I’m trying to write down everything I know about my neurodivergent experience so here’s a list of things I’ve experienced and believe to be relevant. If you can relate or you understand please comment and share! I’m new to this community and it feels so good to finally meet people who understand and can relate. Ok, Here we go.

“So the general population doesn’t memorize scripts to movies or watch the same one every day for a year?”

“People think it’s weird that I prefer to have subtitles on when I watch stuff, even though I don’t have damaged hearing”

“I watch movies with subtitles because I won’t understand what’s said if I don’t read it. I have no hearing issues.”

“I cannot hear/understand someone if I have one ear bud in and one out. Too much sensory input at once.”

“I thought I had a hearing deficit because I literally could not understand people at church or parties or other places with a lot of background noise, and I was so confused when they told me my hearing was normal.”

“I love star wars. Not just love but I could tell you what planet each character is from and what kind of ship they use, what model droid that one is and I will gladly talk about it all day if you let me. Everyone now gets me Star Wars stuff for my birthday and holidays”

“Eye contact is so uncomfortable for me that sometimes it ‘burns’ to maintain it, but then I overcompensate and stare too intensely. Over the years, being female, I’ve forced myself to make eye contact for a certain number of seconds and then look away a certain number of seconds but I’m concentrating so hard on that, that I don’t remember anything that was said to me.”

“Giving me verbal directions is a special kind of hell. I need it written down.”

“I can memorize pictures of things and exactly where every kid sat in my 10th grade US history class as well as my 9th grade geometry class.”

“I never fit in anywhere, in my childhood, most of my adolescence, except the swim team and my new church.”

“Team sports are the worst. I can’t communicate fast enough, I’m bad with hand eye coordination and keeping track of a ball. I excelled in individual sports and fell in love with swimming.”

“I often found it much easier to make friends with older kids because I could have intelligent conversations with them and their good social skills could make up for my lack of social skills.”

“But, I had a few friends that were considerably younger who I could still play imaginatively with dolls when I was 13 and one particular friend was 9. I had a lot of trouble getting a long with her sister who was the same age as me.”

“It physically pains me to hear someone mispronounce a word, spell something wrong, or make a grammatical mistake. I corrected my cousin A LOT when we were kids, she frequently got mad and I couldn’t understand why. My grandma would tell me to stop because correcting people is rude.”

“One of my special interests as a kid was dolphins. I was 5-6 years old and I remember being so excited when my mom let me check out like 10 books from the library and I read them quickly and multiple times.”

“I corrected a teacher one time about dolphins. She said dolphins weren’t whales and I knew FOR A FACT that ‘dolphins were a type of small whale’ because I read it in one of my books. She laughed at me and so did the rest of the class and I felt stupid even though I was right. This led to me suppressing my knowledge and real self and ultimately more masking.”

“As per that last one, my memory is impeccable.”

“I had another special interest in dogs when I got a bit older. My mom bought me a book with every kind of breed of dog, where they came from, their temperament, their size, everything. I can still, to this day, tell you the breed of dog just by looking at it.”

“I always wanted a best friend but never had one. I had groups of friends but never someone who would call me their best friend. When I got a boyfriend in high school, I was so excited because he called me his best friend and he was mine and I finally had that feeling reciprocated. He also had a gifted IQ and dyslexia, ADHD and a few other things so we understood each other quite well.”

“I can’t tell if someone is flirting with me because I can’t read between the lines. I also don’t know how to flirt because if I like a guy too much I get soooo nervous and I stumble over my words and it’s a disaster.”

“When I liked this guy (last year, 2019) I would freeze up so bad when I talked to him that I rehearsed every conversation I wanted to have with him so I wouldn’t mess it up. I would write topics in the notes section of my phone before hanging out with him so I’d remember what to ask him. It made for very awkward and forced conversations and probably drove him away.”

“Sarcasm and jokes almost always go over my head. The boyfriend I had in high school was very funny and outgoing but used a lot of sarcasm and it always caused disagreements because I took him seriously when he was being sarcastic.”

“I talk slowly and very monotone.”

“I have no difficulty reading in my head and can read/comprehend it well, but reading aloud is difficult and I often stumble over words and mess up.”

“I need directions repeated multiple times before I understand.”

“I went to the beach to hang out with some church friends yesterday. They all play spike ball and are so confused as to why I sit there and don’t play. I’ve tried playing spike ball but it involves way too much hand eye coordination and I’m so bad at it that it’s embarrassing. So I don’t play.”

“That same night, a group of them said ‘let’s play uno!’ And I was so happy to play something familiar that didn’t involve a lot of coordination. Then they said ‘we’re playing SPICY uno, right?’ And immediately my heart sank because I knew they were playing a different way that I wasn’t familiar with. Again, receiving verbal directions was hell and I didn’t understand it. I was so bad at it and wasn’t getting it, and in the middle of the game I had the urge to cry. I wanted to cry because I couldn’t even get this right. I suppressed the urge, of course, so they wouldn’t think I was even more weird than the already suspected. Another group of people that I wouldn’t fit in with.”

“Making friends has always been so difficult. Once I make a good friend I hang on to them for as long as possible even if they’re not very nice because I’m scared I’ll have to make a new one if I lose them. And we all know how hard making new friends is for me.”

“I’m a perfectionist. Especially with my art projects. When I took a painting class I realized I do it the wrong way. You’re supposed to paint layer by layer over the entire canvas and focus on small details at the very end. I work on one small area at a time and do small details too soon. I often spend way too much time on small details before I realize that the larger shape of the object isn’t proportionate and then it’s too late.”

“I won’t even attempt tasks if I know I can’t do them perfectly.”

“I have perfect pitch. I don’t know if that has anything to do with autism or that I just started music lessons when I was young. I can tune instruments perfectly without a tuner or reference note and I never understood why my orchestra teacher had me play the A key on the piano over and over again while she walked around and tuned everyone’s instruments when I could do it without any reference. I can hear it in my head.”

“When my parents got me a keyboard at age 7-8, they were impressed because I could sit down, without listening to any song and find the notes of a song I liked by ear. I still do that today but my piano is very out of tune and it bothers me.”

“Autistic boys tend to isolate and not care about concealing their stims or weird behavior but girls don’t. I am a ‘loner’ and always have been but I want so badly to belong and have friends and socialize, but I’ve always been so bad at it that I strike out every time. I often drink at social gatherings because it helps me loosen up and talk more freely. I guess it helps me lose the mask for a while.”

“I HATE people touching me. I’ve always hated it and still hate it to this day unless it’s someone I’m super comfortable with. I’ve been told I have the ‘dead fish hand shake’ and I’m an awkward hugger. My friend picked me up from behind and carried me for a few seconds because we were all goofing off and having fun but afterwards I was so mad at him I got really quiet and didn’t talk for a while. I told him later on the ride home that if he did that again I would slap him. “

“Everyone thinks it’s weird that I don’t like touching people, and some of my friends who also don’t like touching people were abused and I always thought, ‘there had to be a reason, maybe I was abused as a kid and repressed it.’ It’s been so long and I’ve finally realized that maybe it’s just because I have Aspergers or ASD. “

“When I make sarcastic remarks or jokes I often have to clarify because I say them in such a monotone way that people think I’m serious.”

“I’ve always joked that I’m just really clumsy and uncoordinated, and chalked it up to being tall and lanky. That’s why swimming was the perfect sport for me. Little to no risk of injury and not much hand eye coordination needed to be good at it. Just hours of practice, technique and endurance.”

“I also injure myself quite a lot because I’m ‘a klutz.’”

“Stims: I scratch my head and then smell my fingers and I will do this for hours if I am able (I know that one is weird so I only do it at home) popping my knuckles a ridiculous amount of times when I feel uncomfortable and don’t know what to do with my hands. I twirl my hair constantly (that one is pretty socially acceptable so I do it in class nonstop). I tap my foot or bounce my leg, I make weird facial expressions and forget to hide those. People notice but they often think it’s funny because I’ll make a face if someone says something dumb and make an expression that people seem to relate to. I scrunch my nose if I’m uncomfortable or just whenever.”

Special interests: Star Wars, Disney (I know every word to every Disney song and I watch animated Disney movies over and over again, like literally every night) dolphins, the ocean, dogs, theology/the Bible.

“With my art work, and other things, I will get so focused on a painting that I will work non stop for 8-9 hours (all day basically) and not eat because I’m so focused that I forget to eat.”

“I think I slur my words a lot and sometimes my friends will laugh and be like ‘did you just say ____.?!?!’And I’ll clarify and they will continue laughing and say ‘oh it sounded like you said this.’ I hate when that happens.”

“Loud noises really bother me. I jump if I hear an unexpected loud noise and I hate people yelling, even if it’s not directed at me, it makes me want to cry. “

“I loved the color blue so much as a kid (I still do) but my entire wardrobe was basically different shades of blue t-shirts. I also only ever wore baggy t-shirts and baggy cargo shorts (I kinda dressed like a boy) because it was comfortable and I didn’t like getting comments if I looked “cute today”. I hated the attention. I also never ever wore my hair down to school. It always had to be up in a tight pony tail. I still don’t like my hair being in my face to this day and wear it up almost every day.”

“The other day, I was hanging out with a friend and she was trying to tell a story but I kept getting distracted and interrupting her. She said, ‘Emily, you kind of interrupt people a lot.’ At first I was hurt, but then I realized it’s not entirely my fault and it’s an autistic thing.”

“I mask so much that I have rehearsed responses to social interactions and will often get so nervous or start speaking from the script before I realize I’ve said the wrong response. Of course I’ll think about it all day after that and think of ‘well great, so and so thinks I’m weird now.’”

Hey thanks for mentioning Chris's vocal/verbal stims I literally never see representation for that and vocal stims are great and fun. Does he have any echolia or words he repeats or stims with?-outofangband

Unfortunately, his most common vocal repetitions are not postive stims but negative - “silence is better than stammering” and “stillness is better than what i do” are both him repeating the ableist bullshit he was fed in training. It’s both a reminder to be good and also a kind of vocal stim that he uses to shut down his need to move, by replacing it with that.

I’ve also written him humming as a stim. His cluttered speech/stammer is also comforting to him - and it’s deeply important to him that when he’s at home he can largely just speak in the ways most comfortable to him, as regulating his speech is very very mentally consuming for him and he becomes easily exhausted by trying to force his mouth to slow down when his mind is still going so quickly.

I haven’t really written him with full-on echolalia, and I would say it’s not something he does much - although at least one of the pieces about kid!Chris from his mom’s POV does reference him utilizing echolalia as a stim when he was younger.
