Which has been in my brain all day and I finally got the spoon necessary to talk about it.

Because this is the exact problem I have as someone who likes two other characters with...let's just say it out loud- a lot of appeal to bigots. (Joshua Graham and Ulfric Stormcloak, for anyone wondering- for different reasons. They could be much better in competent hands and I like exploring what they could be).

This isn't even "you're liking this character wrong", it's "you stripped this character of everything they are, reducing them to a ken doll you can act out your Good Christian Housewife fantasy for". Joseph Seed is manipulative, controlling, abusive, and he's not above doing absolutely heinous things for what he believes is right. Rachel Jessop was 17 when Joseph began brainwashing her into becoming Faith. He did that to a child.

Obviously not everyone into the Seeds has a tradwife/tradhusband(?) fantasy. But there's an alarming number of fics out there that fly so close to it that I have to wonder, you know? When Joseph is reduced to a sad middle-aged man that just wants to help but the big mean Resistance just won't stop killing his poor innocent Peggies? (do not mind the corpses upon the billboards and signs, do not notice what he did to the three Faiths, do not even acknowledge Jacob, do not pass go).

When the Resistance just sees poor, sweet, Rook as a tool but Joseph Sees her and wants to take her away to love and safety?

When they're all weirdly antagonistic but Grace and Tracey are outright aggressive and violent towards Rook? Yeah, that's so thinly-veiled it might as well just take the final step into barefoot and pregnant. Actually, there is no veil. Just a head in the sand.

But no, of course, he's just concerned about poor Rook, right? He doesn't want them brainwashed or turned into an Angel or anything, right? (Again, under no circumstances are you to acknowledge the Whitetail region and Joseph's explicit approval of Jacob's brainwashing or the eventual existence of the Judge...unless it was written before New Dawn. Because I'll fault people for bad writing, not an inability to see the future).

I suppose that's a good litmus test, though. If the Whitetails are even acknowledged or if Eli and Staci are just chopped liver.

It's at best a complete lack of nuance. Like, sure Joseph was correct that the bombs would fall. At no point does that make ANYTHING Eden's Gate did acceptable or justifiable. One of my favorite NPC lines is one of the Resistance women saying something like "I don't care how much Childhood Trauma they had, that doesn't excuse what they're doing to us". And she's right.

Look, I don't read much with John or Jacob but I have a hunch this is a problem with all 3 seedlings.

My rambling point is: you can like the bad guy but for FUCK'S sake think about WHY you write what you write. Nothing exists in a vacuum. If you need to strip off all their traits to force them into a box...maybe just make an oc.

drivers were practically saran wrapped in black coats, heading from the hotel lobby straight up to their respective rooms,

you were just a simple thing, minding your own business, it'd be rude to even try to look for any one of the drivers, that's class a asshole behaviour, as much as you were willing to look for any of them, it's not like it's in your cards to find a driver on their one special night's rest, let alone build up the courage and ask any one of them for their signatures.

to your surprise, word on the street says something about mclaren's drivers promoting a new sponsor of theirs, it won't hurt to snag a picture or two, especially now that there are fans posting about it,

you arrive at the ballroom, not too big not too small, reasonable enough not to squint to look at either one of the two, but you were fairly distanced away from the two, a crowd lies in between you and the two, hell, if someone had to point you out from the crows it'd probably take hours, not for lando though, his eyes had been on you since the moment you'd been there, probably longer? only he knows, but it takes you a questionable amount of time to even realize who exactly he was staring at, you shrug off the possible feeling of the fact that he was actually staring at you, don't get your hopes up, that's what you agreed on since the start anyways.

a little after the event concludes, it's a slip past midnight but you still manage to shower the feeling of heavy crowds pushing you back and forth away, slipping into a racy nightdress, you're reminding yourself to make the best of a holiday, even if it means you have to sacrifice some comfort to look cute (even when nobody's looking), you finish off by tying a near slobbish knot that doesn't have you trying again, still buzzing with the idea that lando's been looking at you, as much as you're willing to deny it for the right reasons, it's true, looking back at the recordings on your phone and it's more apparent that he was taking quick glances at you and the crowd ahead of him, then you, back to the crowd, it's an endless cycle and it has you giggling to yourself, a fucking coincidence

a knock or two hits your door, it's faint but you're aware that it's bed time, room service at this time of the night? they changing your room due to booking fuck ups? you think of the possibilities on the short walk to the door, you peek through the peephole to find lando norris, at your door, smiling somewhat like an idiot.

meeting an f1 driver was certainly not on your "list of things that happened today" bingo card, let alone on the fact that he's here just to see you, it's too surreal it has you nearly weak at the knees.

the door, holy shit. opening the door, butter fingers, it's a generational curse, lando seems much more relaxed after seeing you, poor boy was probably scared he got the wrong room,

you turn to speak but he hushes you, a fucking finger to your lips and it already has you feeling butterflies, given your knees were weaker than gruel, he's had you in a trance, captivated to the point where you take a few steps back from the door until he allows himself in, he shuts the door softly, double— triple checking if they're locked, he turns to you, it's the glint in his eyes that show he owes you an explanation,

"sorry about that," he starts,

"what brings you here?" you ask out of pure concern, it shocks you (and others, probably) that lando would go out of his way for someone like you, it's cute, to a point.

"just needed an escapade," he sits himself on the edge of the bed, it's crazy that you have him here but there's no way in hell he's here for whatever your brain believes.

"well, if you really want to know," he clears his throat before speaking again, "i'm here to see you,"

"me? of all people, me?" you cough up, at this rate you won't stop beating yourself up over nothing, it's valid given the status difference between the two of you.

you're visibly surprised, and it amuses lando, well enough for him to take the first step.

"yes, you," he murmurs, standing as he speaks, his frame slightly overlooks yours, he's like a a shadow that's brighter than you, in any and every way, odd.

"i saw you at the event earlier, you'd be surprised to know how easy it is to play pretend with the concierge." he chuckles, you just stare at him with your arms crossed, like you're babysitting a kid.

"it's still shitty of me, i know, i know," he has both arms slightly up, you're turned to him, now you're sitting on the same bed as him and it smells like bergamot and a pang of tension.

a pang doesn't cut it, you stare deeply into his eyes as he does with yours, it's not long until you're letting out, it's messy, really.

catching onto how many times he's been chuckling in between kisses, it just gets hotter and hotter, he really is the sun much like they claim.

his arm is around your waist drawing you in closer to him, his free hand tangled in your hair, gently caressing your cheekbones.

Thoughts on JJK chapter 269 (spoilers)

(TCB still doesn't have their own translation but some parts of this need to be cross checked with more translations. I'll do that tomorrow.)

We start the chapter with an ominous flashback that brings Mei Mei to an old woman before we make a hard cut back to where we left off last chapter

To my pleased surprise Yuta managed to get his body back though truth be told I did NOT understand the minute details on how that happened. Need to read up on that.

Megumi still feels the aftereffects of Gojo's UV that had crippled Sukuna's DE. This could mean Megumi himself will have trouble expanding his domain but would that be a short term problem or possibly even a long term problem 👀

(Way back when, I had also made a speculative post that Gojo's UV that hit Megumi's soul might've left Megumi with Gojo's ultimate knowledge from all his life but that doesn't seem to be a thing in the end.)

The first years are told not to feel guilty about anything and to be teenagers again. This echoes what Gojo said in the beginning on how children should be able to enjoy the spring of their youth.

We learn then how Yuta survived: because of Rika who independently kept his body alive. When Kenjaku's CT burned out after Yuta used Gojo's DE, he should've died because he couldn't keep the connection to Gojo's body.

Kenjaku shouldve had the same problems but they speculate that he circumvented that with barrier techniques.

Now comes the part where I need better translations because what's said here is too confusing: which CT recovered and was Yuta now dead or unconscious when Kenjaku's CT burned out?

The next question is: how did his consciousness end up back in his body? All this time I thought Kenjaku transferred his entire brain from body to body but that's not the case apparently? 😄

Also, the biggest question right now: what happened to Gojo's body?

I made a speculative post on how this body hopping through Kenjaku's CT might actually end up reviving Gojo.

The main point for that theory is that Kenjaku revives the bodies he transfers into. Second and third points are that the revival is a one time thing and isn't bound to the continuous use of the CT (speculation) and that Yuta "dies" through the end of the CT and through other means

Say what you will but this about Miguel and Larue was extremely funny but also give Larue some respect, Sukuna was in love with him for a few seconds.

The part where everyone discusses their battle strategies is interesting. Gege does sth here I have done while writing fanfics as well: acknowledging how varied and complicated the choices in the plot where and have the characters discuss it.

This gives the chain of events that did end up happening in the end a grounded feel and here it also gives the characters room to interact with each other.

My complaint about these scenes are that they downplay Sukuna's threat and power

Talking about what they should've done differently and how they could've won more easily is ok, but for me this entire conversation was too couched in "we won because of course we did, this was easy but it could've been easier"

Higuruma is alive though but I had that on my bingo card already, his apparent death was pretty vague

It's a funny reveal how the watch room was Rika this entire time, and apparently Yuta/Maki is basically canon

We also learn that it was indeed Miwa who clung to Maki and used Simple Domain against Sukuna to stop his MS. Todo managed to get her and Maki out with his CT at the end.

Without Ui Ui the battle would've been lost, so he really is the MVP

Now comes the part about the New Shadow Style: Simple Domain that was interesting but also added unneeded elements into the story this late in the manga

Some parts of this was mentioned previously like how you made a Binding Vow to learn NSS. There was a woman in a wheelchair once that resembled Miwa in parts who was probably one of those people who's lifespan was sapped away by the Shadow Head.

But did we really need to give this so much panel time? I guess with the mention of Tengen (who was apparently the one who told the good guys who the Shadow Head was) we'll go back to what happened to her and the merger in the next chapter.

What we also got was commentary on how JJ society hindered itself from becoming better because of the greed of people who wanted more power.

Mei Mei speaks of sorcerers who could've survived with Simple Domain and she probably means Nanami. Their stories in Shibuya acted like foils to each other (without that or them being in conflict with each though) so it's relevant to Nanami what she said here.

Overall I think some parts of this chapter should've been cut so close to the finish, especially when this really is the end of the manga. I still have hope for Part 2 though, this chapter was (as I expected) ambiguous about that happening or not.

Welcome to the MCYT Musical Bingo Event!

What is the MCYT Musical Bingo?

The MCYT Musical Bingo is a fan content creation event focused around Minecraft content creators, SMPs and music! You will be able to suggest up to three songs to fill out a playlist that will then be divided into different boards. When the event starts, you can choose one board (or attempt all of them, I won’t tell you what to do!) and get creating!

The idea is to find a way to implement the songs in your board into your works. You can do so by using the title, lyrics, motif, symbolism, themes… Anything works! The main goal is to get blackout, of course, but it is not necessary. Take it at your own pace and enjoy!

Fan Work Limits

For fanfics, each 1k word fic can include up to three squares from your bingo card. Less than 1k works can only be based around 1 song (so yeah, drabbles are allowed!) You can’t do more than 3 songs per work, so take that into account when planning your fics!

For art, you can claim up to 5 squares per finished piece. This means that you must make each piece to a state where you would consider finished and ready to post!

For web weaving, you can claim up to 3 songs per web weave. Each web weave must include at least 10 elements.

For cosplay, you can claim up to 3 songs per video, including between 10 and 15 seconds minimum of each song. If you do only one song the video has to be the minimum lenght of a tiktok.

Unfortunately no playlists allowed for this one! The point of this event is to make other art forms based on music, so playlists won’t be allowed as submission for this event.

If you want to try a “non-traditional” art form for the event, shoot me an ask and I’ll figure out an equivalent for you!

You CAN do more than one type of fanwork, so feel free to mix and match in order to get bingo and blackout on the board!

The Steve/Thor bingo accepts all kinds of fanworks, including but not limited to: fanfic, fanart, moodboards, playlists, gifsets, edits, crafts, etc.! If it’s new content you can create for this ship, go wild.

What are the minimum requirements for fills?

There are no minimum requirements for each fill, and you are encouraged to create as little or as much as you want. This is a low-pressure event where everyone should have fun!

very partially based on stupid shit i've had the pleasure and misfortune of seeing in my own classes. happy finals season girlies </3 i rise from my casket of inactivity to bring you the shit post i wrote on the subway on the way to an exam. whose class do you think you'd survive?

cw: cynical college humour because i'm coping, adult humour

taeil: not even that old, but barely knows how to use technology. spends the first 15 minutes of lectures trying to figure out zoom, then the rest of the time poorly explaining quantum mechanics from a textbook written 20 years ago. trips down the stairs two days into the semester and goes on medical leave, only to be spotted on vacation a week later. no one even gives him shit for it.

johnny: originally the cool, chill prof who occasionally went out for drinks with his classes, until he realized he was cool and tried to get even more hip with the kids. now he uses bad memes in his slides and films tiktoks in his lab. the number of students who ask to get drinks with him significantly boosts his ego, but no one tells him they’re doing it just to cross “drinking with a prof” off the frosh bingo card.

taeyong: the sweetest, loveliest, kindest soul you will ever meet—except he’s only taught twice in his life, just got put in as a replacement for a prof who tripped down the stairs, and gives you the most god-awful final exam known to man. he’s also stressed out (on your behalf) at any given moment, to the point where he just passes everyone with an 80 and calls it a day.

yuta: the hip, fashionable prof who only serves looks and random commentaries on society in the middle of his lectures. undergrads fight to the death to join his research group, but the ones who make it eventually realize he spends most of his time partying with the department’s money. yet still, groundbreaking work comes out of his lab every year…

doyoung: retired from research a few years ago to teach full time, but not a single person knows why. he may offer the clearest, live-saving explanations in his lectures—but he constantly looks like he wants to go home and will decimate your entire existence with a single look if you ask anything about the syllabus two weeks into the semester.

jaehyun: the hot single prof. every single freshman girlie has a sickening, concerning, fanfic-esque crush on him. some go as far as nearly failing his class and then booking office hours with him before finals, only to find out that he’s been using Doyoung’s teaching material for years, without credit. he is very much horrendous at teaching on his own. and very much gay.

jungwoo: wanted to go into early childhood education, somehow got coerced into doing his masters, then his phd, then post doc, then— still fulfills his dreams by treating his students like kindergarteners. this includes gentle parenting of frat boys who won’t shut the fuck up during class, handing out healthy vegan treats, and encouraging “mindful moments” while you write the hardest exam he has ever administered.

mark: refuses to teach because he doesn’t think any of the kids will take him seriously, is forced to anyways by the department. as a prodigy so fucking removed from what it’s like to be stupid, he ends all his quantum lectures with “this is pretty straightforward,” and books it back to his lab on an electric skateboard. yes he built it himself. no he won't let you try and ride it.

haechan: shares an office with mark and spends most of his free time figuring out which organic compounds he can mix together to perfectly recreate the texture and smell of cum. if he doesn’t show up to class, it’s because he’s terrorizing pigeons on the street for science. shows gruesome videos of explosions and chemical fires for a chemical safety lecture. has had the fire alarm pulled on him at least twice.

Skinny people can be in a fic without it being fatphobic. Get over utsealf

It's time to check off: 'skinny people being offended when they are not obviously the center of attention' oh! and 'skinny people taking any discussion of fatphobia as a direct attack'

Okay, so - who has bingo? I certainly do.

Yes - skinny people can be in a fic without it being fatphobic. But if the writer claims that their fic is open ended and the reader character is meant to describe as wide of a range as people as possible, then it is fatphobic if there is unconscious descriptions or implications that the reader character is a thin person.

One of the most common implications that the reader character is a thin person? Describing the reader character wearing a tee shirt (or another piece of clothing) that belongs to a thin canon character, especially if it is described as being 'oversized' on the reader.

Other common indicators that the writer is a thin person and is unconsciously picturing a thin Y/N when writing their fic:

Saying that the canon character lifted the reader character off the ground completely (especially if the canon character is someone non-athletic, like Spencer Reid)

Saying that the canon character's hands looked large or are large in comparison to parts of the reader character's body - especially her upper arms or her waist (saying that the canon character 'dwarfs' her in any way is just... big ick)

Belly bulge kink! I have so many issues with this one anyway, but if you can see a cock through someone's stomach, no matter how gigantic that cock is, it means that person has very, very little stomach fat. So again - you are picturing a skinny person (borderline anorexic) when writing this (in general, this kink is not a glorification of big cocks, which my blog is all about, it's a glorification of low body fat and thin stomachs, so... big ick)

The presence of skinny people in fanfics in itself is not fatphobic.

Though I do believe that skinny people dominate way too many spaces as it is, and as I have said before, I always write my fics with fat readers in mind first and let skinny people enjoy my fics as a perk.

If you do any of these ^^^ things, and you don't put a blatant warning on your fics that they feature a skinny/thin reader character, then you are being fatphobic. A plus sized fanfiction enjoyer shouldn't have to get halfway through your supposedly inclusive fic and be jumpscared by the implicit implication of thinness.

Especially if is a romantic fic - they are being fed the idea that only thin people can be loved by their favourite character in a world where they have already been told a thousand times that their fatness is not desirable. Fics should be not only an escape for us, but a place for us to be loved for our bodies despite our supposed flaws. (Which is why I have so many fics featuring plus sized reader characters, and I continually preach ways to avoid fatphobia in fics for those who might not know about their unconscious biases when writing.)

But as usual - skinny people get all up in arms when fatphobia is even mentioned, because they think that it's an attack on them somehow. sigh

This is for the main thing. In the theoretical Discord I'm currently making I feel like a lot of things can be done as little mini events along the way if anyone would want to do that. That way, aside from whatever the main event is, we can still do other stuff throughout the year. A lot of this is just ideas I'm throwing out into the wild so to speak and to see what interests everyone.

I also kinda want there to be something laid back too because I know that fandom, the craft community, and the disabled community all intersect big time so yeah. Feel free to yell at me from the tags I want to see everyone's input/ideas!

A week long event: I feel like this is too quick because these things takes a lot of time, but in the theoretical Discord I'm currently making we can do little weekly prompts/challenges if it interests anybody.

Nanowrimo: This is a month long thing where everyone has a 50k novel to work on and you work on it everyday for a month. Similarly can be done with crafts/fiber arts/textiles where everyone picks a project and we each have a goal to meet each day

A select few months: Ex. June-August,

Gift exchange: Again another one of my theoretical ideas, might be difficult, sounds pretty fun, maybe could be used for a holiday event thing?

Draw/Write in your own style: This is when everyone creates someone off of the same prompt/image, but I'm this case it's probably be the same Base pattern.

Bang Event: Two or more people of different or the same mediums (a crocheter, a pattern maker, a knitter etc) pair up and make whatever based off of each other's work.

Round Robin/Telephone: For those who don't know, a Round Robin is when you pass along a fanfic from one person to another and you all start where the last person left off. Telephone is very similar but like in telephone only the first person who starts the project has and knows the pattern while everyone else doesn't. Again with this it may be hard and require a lot of planning but it's worth the mention.

Teams/Game type event: So teams event if when people are put into teams (team blue or team [specific fandom name]) and you just create as much as possible for whatever theme the group picks. Now Game type events (I actually haven't seen any of these in recent year) is when you do the same thing but each round everyone votes and gives points to each other and who ever has the most at the end wins.

Bingo: A bingo card filled usually with different prompts/challenges that can be customized or just picked at random

Masquerade/Guess The Maker: Everyone has a concealed Identity and everyone else has to guess who made what.

Why not enhance your fanfic reading experience with a fun challenge?

Generate your own Fanfic Reading Bingo Card and try to finish it over a timespan of your choice (e.g. during your next family gathering).

Generate a new bingo card until you're (mostly) happy with the results. You can re-roll every single bingo field separately by clicking/tapping on it. When you have a card that fits your reading habits (or takes you out of your comfort zone, if you want to challenge yourself), take a screenshot of the card to keep it. Closing the page and reloading it will reset the card.

There are no fanfic-negative or bashing items in the lists. This bingo card is meant to be a positive experience and celebrate fanfiction and fanworks in general.

It's just a little practice piece I made for funsies mostly over the weekend, with some finishing touches earlier today. I will add more content over the next few days and weeks (and let's be realistic, probably months), but everything that's currently in there should already work as intended.

The bingo generator is responsive, which means it should work on desktop and mobile. The mobile layout isn't ideal yet, I'm trying my best to make it better (but I'd also still consider myself a newbie and I'm learning by doing).

The platform I'm using, Perchance, recently added AI options for their generators. This is a regrettable decision that I don't condone, and I'd like to emphasise that this generator is 100% handcrafted chaos.

Leaving the NSFW checkbox unchecked should remove all NSFW tags and tropes, but you could still come across content you find objectionable. Leaving the AO3 Tags checkbox unchecked removes all tags, but you could still come across tropes you find objectionable.

If you run into any issues or come across any bugs, please let me know. If you find something that should be in the NSFW category, but isn't, please also let me know. It's possible that I missed a few tags when I worked through the list. (But don't ask me to remove content you find objectionable.)

What do the checkboxes mean?

NSFW is basically what it says on the tin. If you tick this box, the NSFW tropes will be added to the mix. If you also ticked the AO3 Tags box, NSFW AO3 tags will be added.

AO3 Tags is also what it says on the tin. It's a list with roughly 1,000 AO3 tags. Around 250 of them are currently marked NSFW and can only be generated if you ticked both the NSFW box and the AO3 Tags box.

Stats & Meta currently only includes the lists "length" (contains wordcounts ranging from drabble to >500k) and "meta", which currently contains items like "a work with a song lyrics title" or "a work in a series". I will probably add other lists to that category at some point.

creator (items like favourite author, anon creator)

discovery (various ways you could've found a fic)

Monsterfucktober Bingo: FAQ

1. What is the event? Monsterfucktober Bingo is a multi-fandom event where we celebrate monsterfucking works in the month of October.

The bingo squares are effectively creative prompts, with the addition of very cool badges you can obtain when you've completed a bingo line, or, if you're particularly ambitious, blacked out your entire card.

The event runs from October 1 - October 31, but you can get started on planning your works now! Check our pinned post for a preview of the prompts.

2. Who can participate/what works are allowed? While the mods are primarily in The Sandman fandom, all fandom participation is welcome. We encourage written works, such as fanfic, headcanons, and original fiction, and visual works such as graphics, gifs, fanart, and original artwork. If you'd like to create a playlist, video, or other form of media, we'd love to see that too!

Works we will not accept: AI generated works, plagiarized works, works depicting real-world minors.

3. Will there be an AO3 Collection? Yes there will be! We'll post a link to the collection closer to October.

4. Can we combine squares? Yes, you can. We do ask that you limit your combinations to 2 squares max, for one work. Otherwise, feel free to pick any combination of squares (Yes, werewolf x vampire creators, this is for you!)

5. How should we tag our posts? Use the tags #monsterfucktoberbingo 2024 or #monsterfucktoberbingo in your posts. You can also @ the blog directly.

6. Can we use old/already published works to fill the card? Absolutely! While we'd LOVE to see new works, we also want to give love to any existing works out there. So if you happen to have an existing work you'd love to promote, reblog it and tag our blog in your post during the event!

7. Are works required to be NSFW? Nope! While the event is lovingly called Monsterfucktober Bingo, no actual fucking is required. You can have an entirely SFW work, or a monster queerplatonic relationship, and we'll happily reblog it.

8. What counts as a bingo? Any row completion, horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.

9. What are the prizes? Some lovely badges created by our mods! We'll be handing out badges based on completion, so you'll get one for your first work completed, one for your first, second, third, and fourth bingo, and one for blacked out cards! There will also be a special surprise badge, to be determined at the end of the event!

9. How do I submit my card for badges? Email monsterlover.bingo@gmail.com with your bingo card marked off after the event ends, and we'll send you back your badges. Feel free to link us any of your posts as well, just in case we missed reblogging it!

We'll be accepting submissions of cards from November 1 - November 10, with badges going out shortly after that.
