I feel like as kids, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe would have been indistinguishable to the point that if they swapped paints and did a bit of acting, no one would know.
Plot twist, they switched identities so much as kids that even they don’t know if they are who they were created as or if they were upgraded as each other
Double plot twist, Ratchet helps them figure out who’s who via spark readings compared against long lost and accidentally refound spark readings from when they were kids. Over time, their spark readings got less similar so it’s easier to spot the subtle differences from when they were sparklings
Whether or not they actually are who they think they are, y’all feel free to guess :)

head in my hands because shauna wanted jackie to live so fucking bad between the trying to help her help out with chores so she find her place better to "just eat some for me please" but in the end shauna's hands are still bloody. "you're the one holding the knife" because even if jackie was halfway doomed already shauna is the butcher and she will always slice across the throat whether she wants to or not

I still don’t understand AFO. Why is he like this. This series repeatedly goes out of it’s way to humanize the villains but AFO is still just evil because he wants to be the demon lord and I don’t get it.
That would be the point, I feel-- AFO doesn't want to be understood or seen as "human." He wants to completely lose himself in character, wants other people to mindlessly play along with the story he's written for himself like good little extras, and wants everyone around him to acknowledge what a ~perfectly inhuman demon lord~ he is-- and he's bent the entire narrative of MHA around himself like a shield in order to accomplish that. Like, the idea of people breaking the same black and white narrative that he's been using to protect himself (and trap others) quite literally drives him insane:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"That murderer--" "You killer--" oooooo you're so mad that human nature is basically good, that people are endlessly capable of growth and healing, and that actual human beings can't simply be shoved into teeny black and white fictional boxes ooooo all the more evidence that he's gonna completely lose his shit when Tomura ultimately refuses to kill Izuku lmao
I wanna point out his speech bubbles in the second image, bc Hori frequently uses speech bubbles to emphasize a character's mental state-- Like.... Bro is literally coming apart at the seams with rage that Stain is trying to be anything more than a starter villain. 😭The english translation also kind of sort of makes it seem like AFO is simply referring to Stain by his moniker (Hero Killer), but the term he uses in the original text feels a little more... loaded, imho?? The kanji used for Stain's "Hero Killer" Moniker is "Goroshi" ("殺ごろし"), but here, AFO instead refers to him as a "Murderer" (殺人犯/satsujin-han). Calling Stain an out-and-out murderer instead of calling him by a villain moniker feels a lot more specific, a lot more pointed, and it also tells us a lot more about AFO’s fucked up sense of values.
Anyway, I've said this before, but AFO is a character who reads heavily as an escapist fantasy gone horrifically wrong. "Why is a world where villains are allowed to climb back up from rock bottom and heal so intolerable to AFO?" "why does the idea of people breaking free from their roles make AFO so angry?" "why is AFO literally trying to BECOME a comic book character?" are better questions to ask than "why is bro just evil for the sake of it," I feel. Like obviously, a world where the label of "villain" gets thoroughly and utterly dismantled is one where AFO loses his power over others.... but it's also a world that rips that protective layer of "fiction" away from him, exposes his own humanity, and destroys that delusion of becoming the "perfect villain king" that he's wrapped himself up in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tfw you LARP so hard that it ends up getting your brother killed and now breaking character means you gotta Process All Of That .................................................... Unless...? :)
What I find especially interesting about AFO is that MHA's narrative actually cooperates with shielding him from the readers, to a degree-- scenes that depict rare moments of genuine emotion are overlaid with contrary, cartoonishly evil narration that's meant to distract the reader from what's actually being depicted. The bulk of the series depicts his face being hidden in shadows even though it *literally* has no reason to be, and we don't get an unobscured look until the other characters finally start rallying together to reject his story. He is literally introduced to the series through a TV screen, which MHA has been using as a shorthand for its depiction of fantasy since day one:
Tumblr media
In my opinion, I feel the final act of "rejection" that AFO fears isn't from his brother, or his followers, or "his other self"-- what he fears is the story itself rejecting him and finally exposing him for what he is: an utterly mundane human. Like, a total freak of a guy to be sure, but still totally human. The narrative revoking its various "protections" and working against AFO to humanize him acts as the final insult to everything he claims to believe in while doubling as the last bit of confirmation that he was never gonna become a "perfect demon lord." MHA being what it is, this is something inevitable.
Where other characters in this series draw strength from their origin-- the moment that defines them as a human and individual-- AFO likely fears and rejects his own origin for this same reason.
Anyway. I would describe AFO as a wannabe-author who refuses to make public appearances or divulge details about his personal life, but ultimately reveals a little too much about himself through the "stories" and "characters" he tries to write-- so ppl still know he's a freak with issues by virtue of how fatherless his content is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Putting together all the pieces of himself that AFO accidentally lets slip is part of what makes MHA so fun (to me, at least!).

So, Luffy is actually hyper competent when it comes to outdoor survival.
Fire, of course, is so essential to this. He remembers fire on the quiet beaches of Foosha--remembers Makino's slim, calloused hands building a curious stack of wood, remembers the smell of smoke and the spark of warmth and light. The chocolate from the s'mores she made him got all over his cheeks, in his hair. His sticky fingers picked up a coating of sand and Makino washed his hands in the ocean.
That didn't happen too often. Makino was often dead on her feet, running her bar. But, when Luffy got a little older, when he got curious enough to ask "how do you do that?", she guided his little, chubby hands through the steps to build a fire. He was clumsy, and impatient, and in the end, she had to do it.
It was quiet, it was Makino all to himself surrounded by the stars and the sea and the warmth of the fire.
Shanks and the others never showed him how to build a fire, but their fires were different than Makino's quiet, private ones. The bonfires were huge--taller than Luffy! Even when Benn carried him on his shoulders! It was loud, and so bright it hurt his eyes, and so hot his hair would curl with sweat around his forehead and temples. And the men played so much music, and ate SO much food, and drank so much booze until they sloppily danced with each other and the young men and women from Foosha who were attracted by the fire.
Luffy loved those fires so much--he would feel full for days and days.
Grandpa tried to teach Luffy, maybe. Or maybe, Grandpa believes that he tried to teach Luffy. Really, he just said, "you build a fire like this, see? you need this, and you need to do that, make sure you do NOT do this, and done! there! now you know how to build a fire!"
Luffy did not know how to build one. It would have helped him in the ravine Grandpa threw him in afterward.
Ace and Sabo taught Luffy. Ace taught Sabo before Luffy ever met them. And it was good, because Ace taught a lot like Grandpa. "It's simple, Luffy. You just get this, do this, and don't do, no! I said don't do that! Ugh, why are you crying now?" But Sabo was there. And he wasn't more kind than Ace, but he was a competitive little shit. "You can't teach worth a damn, Ace--this is what happened when you tried to show me. I bet I can teach Luffy faster than you." And Ace, of course, had gritted his teeth and said, "you're on."
It took weeks for Luffy to properly build a fire on his own, under their competitive tutelage. He actually figured it out much fast than that. He just liked the attention of his big brothers. Besides, it was really funny whenever Sabo's sharp comments always made Ace lose control and tackle him into a wrestling match. Luffy always, always gleefully joined them.
Years later, Luffy's sort of surprised to find himself being the one to teach his crew how to build a fire and other things to survive out in the wilds. Zoro's shaped himself for survival in the bars and back alleys and the underground of East Blue's bigger towns and cities. He's never had to hunt for food before, but that was no problem. Luffy only had to teach him how to track prey, how to read the signs in the thick brush and camouflage of the wilderness. For someone like Zoro, who had something primal and hungry under his skin, the hunt comes naturally.
...Luffy should have maybe told him to stay away from those mushrooms, though. Zoro threw up for hours, and Luffy kind of felt bad about that. In his defense, he thought everyone knew about them. Like he thought everyone knew how to track an animal and build a fire.
"Oh," Nami says, puzzling over the thick stew Luffy makes one night under a forest's canopy. It's not as wild as Mt. Colubo, which is kind of boring. "This is actually good? I thought you were just pulling random bits of grass and leaves and mushrooms to throw in this. I was so hungry though, I wasn't going to care. Was just going to avoid the mushrooms in case you gave me poisonous ones."
"Yeah," Zoro grouses. "Nice to know about those, huh?"
"I can cook!" Luffy insists, not sure if he should be offended or flattered.
"Well, no," Nami says. "You blew up the last kitchen we were in. And somehow turned curry into a noxious gas."
"Ovens are hard!" Luffy insists, now sure that he's supposed to be offended. "And why were there so many ingredients? You just need meat! It was confusing!"
And so it goes. Gradually, Luffy shows them how to build a fire in the snow, how to build a shelter against the rain. He points out mushrooms that are safe to eat (and the ones that make you laugh and laugh, even if you don't particularly feel like laughing--Chopper hadn't been as amused with those as Luffy thought he would be). Good berry bushes and bad, what to do to make water safer, and how to hunt. He shows them how to trap small game, though that's not something he and his brothers did as often. They were always so hungry, and big game was always so much more fulfilling. But winters were hard, and sometimes trapping was they only way they ate at all.
Luffy likes to think he's a better teacher than Grandpa, but he's not sure by how much. How do you teach someone something that was once as normal as breathing to him? His friends are so smart, though. Smarter than him. (Except Zoro, who can build a sturdy shelter and then be trusted to never be able to find it again.)
He can tell not everyone particularly wanted to learn. But they're outlaws now. And when they're not facing the wilds of the Grand Line, they're pushed to the outskirts of civilization, camping out on beaches and on the outskirts of forests. These skills none of them thought they would need are suddenly essential.
But it's alright. Luffy's their captain. He'll always be with them, and can take care of them in this way.
(His favorite by far, though, are the beach bonfires. He's sure to build them as big as he remembers from his childhood. He insists on food and music and dancing and booze and s'mores each time. They're loud, and they're warm. And it's all his.
And he feels full for days and days.)

So you know how in Scarlet and Violet you've technically got a team of seven Pokemon and nobody bats an eye even though one of the Big Rules of Pokemon has always been the Six Pokemon Limit? Well, I'd say that's good evidence that said limit is only legally in place for Official Matches.
The way I figure it, most traveling trainers can only handle having around five to seven Pokemon on-hand at any given time, since, well, you've got to be able to care for yourself and your Pokemon while living out of a backpack(albeit a backpack that's clearly significantly larger on the inside than out, but still) with a somewhat unstable source of income (namely battling other trainers and selling cool junk you found on the side of the road). If you're a League Trainer who's got a full, varied team of six that's seven actual living individuals with wildly different dietary and hygiene needs, sleep schedules, personalities, and relative levels of sapience to keep happy, healthy, and battle-ready, and the Pokeball's stasis properties only do so much for the physical needs and not really anything at all for the social and psychological.
Plus six is a nice, round, even number, so it's good for Official League Stuff, and for standardized equipment like Pokeball Belts and similar Ball Holster Items, and eventually it's so culturally accepted that it's out of the ordinary to have more than six in your active party, to the point that most people forget that the full wording of "Only Six Pokemon" is "Only Six Pokemon in Official League Matches". But not so out of the ordinary that anyone will actually care about your bonus Dragon Bike.

Have this old doodle I made a few years ago now that Wonka is getting closer and closer to the big screen-!
I should draw all 3 of them in a timeline (I have a lil AU thinky thought idea of Johnny Wonka being a younger emo/goth phase to Gene Wonka, and now we’ll also have an even younger Timothée Wonka to work with-!!!!! Humble beginnings or something!!!!! I’m very excited!!!!!!!!!!)

I like to think that when the batfamily inevitably runs out of money and jobless Bruce, Tim, and Dick* find themselves in financial need, Steph reveals that she's made thousands of dollars taking odd jobs around Gotham City that we just never saw bc Steph hasn't been in a comic for months. Nobody checked in on her and while they weren't looking she made 6 grand babysitting and playing piano at a local theatre. Bruce has to grovel for enough money to buff out a scratch on the batmobile and Steph is revelling in it. This is the closest she's ever going to get to being a supervillain
*(Cass and Jason don't need money to survive on account of being homeless as kids + Babs funds Cass' basic needs and Damian is on his mom's payroll, same w/ duke even if it's obvs not al ghul money)

“why do you romanticize living in a cabin in the wilderness so much?”
i don’t know mom, maybe because i grew up running through forests and swimming in lakes. maybe because as soon as it got warm enough i barely put shoes on for three months straight. maybe because i like campfires and wildflowers and fireside singalongs. maybe because you pushed me to think and act for myself and let me engage in as many outdoor activities you could find and reasonably afford.
maybe because i’m tired of being around people constantly, and being pressured to act certain ways and do certain things is making me numb to existence until i go on a hike and stare at leaves for an hour. because i can’t make phone calls without nearly breaking down. because when we have house parties at least fifty people show up and i have to spend most of the next day outside trying to get my brain to quiet down via shooting at targets or chopping wood for a family friend or braiding one flower crown after another until i have a pile of them and no one to give them to.
maybe i wasn’t built to live anywhere near a city and i want away from it.
maybe i do romanticize it.
or maybe i just want out.
