really can't be overstated just how much the physicality that wolf 359 is written and performed with adds to the feel of it. there is so much written into those scripts that absolutely cannot be represented in an audio-only format, but it's in there and it's performed with those details and that stage direction in mind and so much of it manages to come through. a combination of that and the sound design and the way it uses audio cues like a visual medium might creates something intangibly tangible in the way the characters occupy and interact with and share the space they're in. most visual show ever to be a podcast.

I think most elves, especially those that have a better affinity for magic, would probably perform some sort of ritual to lengthen your lifespan. It won't be pretty, and they'll be heaving and shaking by the end of such an intensive spell that is reserved only for the most desperate of cases -- but they're willing to do it, multiple times if needed. And for those that do not possess the talent to cast such magic, they'd be willing to trade practically anything to commission other elves, even with years off of their own lives.

but that's the case for an individual basis. I suppose if you're the (only) village pet then it will be a collective effort to keep you alive as long as possible -- and if the entire village is mobilized its going to be a very, very long time before the prospects of freedom in death becomes available...and the fact that your life literally depends on them will be something they'll exploit to the fullest.

Disentangling One-Punch Man (please reblog/make additions)

If One-Punch Man (hereafter OPM) is something you watch when there's a season out or read when there's a volume out, what I'm saying may seem rather odd. Pass on the message anyway.

This is for you, the person who likes OPM well enough but isn't a fanatic, especially if you only check it out every few weeks. You may find yourself at sea frequently. Don't worry, you won't be long.

In brief:

One-Punch Man is a webcomic that is serialised on Young Jump. If you can read Japanese, it is 100% free, legally. It is periodically collected and sold in volumes, which also form the basis of the anime.

It is also a passion project for ONE and Yusuke Murata. Every author and writer has things they would like to change, and if they have second thoughts about the way the story flows, they change the online version. Which can be hard to keep up with: many fan archives have a lot of trouble. To make it worse, the ShonenJump app does not change the chapters when they're updated, meaning that successive chapters can feel VERY discordant.

It's finally done cooking, my sims gameplay ideas list! After scouring all types of sites, generators, lists, and my brain for ingredients, I've come up with a list stew that hopefully will spark some inspiration for your sims gameplays!

This non exhaustive list consists of ideas that are applicable to sims gameplay/things to do in-game. AKA things that can be played out in the sims or half pretended. My Experience being diagnosed with bpd.

for me it was a relief to finaly have an answer, something to explain my thought process and behaviours, as well as confirmation for something i highly suspected.

the unfortunate thing is that i got diagnosed when i had a breakdown that scared me so bad i admitted myself to the psych ward behind my parents backs, having such a bad experience at the ward that being in that same hospital anywhere away from the er or first floor gives me panic attacks.

i went back to the er after my body shut down, my mom having to support me heavily as my body refused to cooperate and let me walk, they lent me a wheelchair and i was stuck in the er overnight till the afternoon the next day. when they finally got us in and did tests on me they couldn't see what was wrong physically but saw i had a bpd diagnosis so the psychiatrist there sat me down with my mom, gave us a booklet on bpd and told us it must have just been such intense stress from my bpd symptoms that my body couldnt take it.

i always thought it would be something like my spine defect to cause me a complete loss of mobility but knowing now that if i dont regularly take medication to manage my bpd and stress levels my body will decide on its own its had enough and stop responding.

losing my mobility slowly was scary enough, bpd symptoms giving me episodes of full immobility was terrifying. while im glad i had an explanation for it, i still wish they'd properly told me about the bpd diagnosis before when i was there self admited.

had i known any time earlier, i would have been able to better set boundaries and look after myself, recognize what didnt help me and what my symptoms and behaviours were and prevent such terrifying episodes from ever happening.

it was a relief when the psychiatrist i saw at the ward mentioned it off hand because i had suspected it already and that confirmation made my concerns feel even slightly validated. that was probably the only positive that came from that visit.

it wasnt what started my research on bpd but it sure as hell influenced me delving way deeper into it, and after one too many bad stressors and reactions to stress, i am still trying to do more research to help myself and others cope better and better understand ourselves.

hopefully my book "understanding borderlines" can do that.

The Cults of Ecstatic Unity horrify Zoreinak, who in them sees only annihilation of the self and denial of life's purpose. Something must be done.

Outright war, though the purest resolution, would be unfit here: the Cradle's lakes and cliffs would cause any assault to stagnate indefinitely, and any alliance forged would break in time. No, if the Cults are to be defeated, it must be in the Tolinakka's clear interest to do so.

And so a number of great Tolinakka are visited by dreams: prosperous mine-owners, grove-keepers, and village-elders. Zoreinak, voice like thunder, shares with them a single vision: a hollowed-out log, stabilized with outriggers, filled with pearls and gems. It drifts from the far horizon into known waters, followed by many more.

Greed can unify many a quarreling mind.

The emergence of the Sea-Cleaving Pact is swift. Primitive shipyards arise in the Thundurous Inlet, producing simple ships carved with weather-warding runes. Small outposts appear along the coast where natural resources can be found. Enough return enough of value for the shipbuilding to pick up.

But where to find the materials? The Cradle is a land of lakes and mountains, with not many places fit for trees. Surrounding it are grasslands and floodplains, and most trees-growing lands are used for valuable fruit. Other trees are spoken for by copper forges, charcoal piles, and pottery kilns. A scarce resource grows even scarcer, a tipping point is reached.

And so the eyes of many turn to the black-barked trees: widely planted, plentiful in number, managed by an unpopular sect. Tolinakka unite in pursuit of profit, descend upon the Cults, cut down their sacred trees and claim the land to grow their own wood on. Many worshippers remain, sheltered by geography or secrecy, but they must ever remain wary of strangers that would look upon their means of communion and see only a way to meet their own selfish needs.

I made a map of the Ghost Trick town, because I needed to know where some locations were relative to each other. The scaling isn't super great or anything, but it's just for a general idea anyways. Some notes on some of my decisions:

The junkyard is said to be at the edge of town.

Kamila cut through Temsik Park to get to the Chicken Kitchen.

The town has to be not-landlocked, since Yomiel takes a boat to the Yonoa. I guess it strictly doesn't have to be the ocean, but it being a river would make the journey longer.

The Chicken Kitchen is on Dead End Drive, which one would assume is a dead end.

The Justice Minister's office is within walking distance from the special prison. I put the police station near there somewhat arbitrarily, but also because backup during the prison escape sequence comes exceptionally quickly.

social organization in the cat: a modern understanding was my first piece of cat colony literature that i started with before expanding on it. it was published in 2004 so obviously it's a bit dated, but it helped me get a start with understanding cat colony dynamics if anyone's interested in that.
