Was rewartching My hero academia: Two heroes and this mf sounded familiar and it took me a bit before I went "this is fucking Mori" AND IT WAS LMAO

Watching Two Heroes again reminded me of something I haven’t really seen talked about a lot, but

All Might Keeping Secrets and Self-Isolating Led to His Downfall

Obviously, right? Everyone and their mother’s said this, and it’s clearly meant by the story. But I think David Shield is the best example of this, and I haven’t really seen the Two Heroes movie mentioned when having this conversation. This is my explanation of this movie being the epitome of this idea, and the time where I believe All Might learns from his mistake — even if it’s too late for him to change the course of his narrative.

The movie clearly indicates early on, by All Might himself, that David Shield, his “best friend” and sidekick from his college days has not been informed of One for All, and All Might intends to keep it that way. Deku, ever the audience lens character for the world of My Hero, questions it, to which All Might answers it’s to keep his friend safe.

This is shown to not be the case. In fact, by not telling his friend about One for All, David, someone who is good and concerned about his friend, turns to villainy out of desperation to save him. If All Might had simply told him about how his power works, and that he’s passed the torch on to Deku, then David wouldn’t have had as much need to worry. And this is something that All Might had several opportunities to reveal, even over the course of the movie itself. Most especially when David’s checking Toshinori’s vitals and his quirk levels. (Which, I have no idea how you would even trace something like that, but I digress.)

Then, to add salt to the wound, All for One targets David regardless of his knowledge of One for All. Just his connection to All Might as a former sidekick was enough to put him in the line of fire. All Might’s secret-keeping didn’t protect him from anything, and instead turned an already bad situation worse. In the end, presumably David Shield is put away in prison, because when we see Iron Might in the manga, only Melissa is pictured, not her father, and if David had been available I refuse to believe that he wouldn’t have had a hand in the suit’s creation. All Might’s time limit in his muscle form is also shortened once again.

Ultimately I believe this specific situation is what led to him eventually urging Deku to not make the same mistake he did, in not telling anyone about One for All.

Also, the specificity of Wolfram being drawn this way after being defeated, gaunt and steaming, paralleling someone else we all know and love, felt very intentional. I don’t have more to say about it at the moment, I just thought it was interesting and that I’d point it out.

So, Two Heroes. While only a select few students were focused on, all of the class 1-A was on I-Island right? Which means Aoyama was also there too right??

Obviously, everything involving Wolfram isn’t Aoyama’s fault. But since Wolfram was involved with AFO, do you think Aoyama still felt that guilty about what happened. Still felt responsible for his classmates getting hurt? Do you think he was told about what was gonna happen???

Hmmm. I wonder if the plot of Two Heroes would’ve been slightly different if it was produced after Aoyama being the traitor was revealed (with the movie still taking place pre-Training Camp)

So awhile ago, I got this amazing fanart from @isitasporkorafoon which is based on the Lost in the Infinite Lights crossover series by @arinrowan and they gave me permission to share this.

As you can see, the story focuses on Yuugi while dealing with a variety of villains/foes from the two series. I hope you all like it and I sincerely hope you consider reading the story when you get the chance. It's really great if you're a fan of both Yu-Gi-Oh and My Hero Academia.

Hello again, my lovely readers! Thank you for your patience. As I explained on the discord, last week would have been when I posted but my work schedule was way too busy for me to do any editing for this. So I postponed for another week. But! To make up for the wait, this chapter is longer! :D Not exactly planned but that's how the plot points worked out.

A reminder of all who is on I-Island in BC. For our main group we have Izuku, Shouto, Hitoshi, Mei, Present Mic, Hound Dog, and All Might. Then we've got Momo, Jirou, Ochako, Tenya, and Kaminari. And of course Melissa as well. There are a few others but these are the main ones who actually play a part. :)

I'M SO SORRY, INKO!!

Seriously, I'm so sorry. I hate seeing good mom Inko get hurt. The first time I ever read a fic where Inko was killed off I sat for a minute in shock. I never realized before then that someone could do that and I had to mourn for her before continuing to read it. Oof that was rough. But from that tragedy leads to another trope I love so much which is adopted Izuku. Who will actually get that role I won't spoil but have fun theorizing. ;)

Now, I'm still on the fence on actually having Inko die or not. Honestly one of the points leaning towards her dying is to spare her from ever suffering from finding out All For One is Hisashi. Izuku, who will find out eventually, is going to be bad enough. For now she'll be in a sort of limbo. Kind of like Han Solo in Star Wars when he was frozen in carbonite. I just don't know what will work best for the story itself. We'll just have to let time, and my brain, decide what happens with that. And if you have any thoughts I will consider those as well.

For the recipes Inko was using, here is the miso salmon, the fried rice, and the salad dressing (along with a different salad combo) in case anyone was interested. :)

So the attack on I-Island was shorter than the movie. Though that I would think should be expected since they got a warning for it. Yes, there were some plot devices thrown in there but I'm happy with how it turned out. If anything, this gave Hitoshi a time to shine with support of his friends and classmates. All of them working as a team to take down the bad guys together.

Wolfram's English voice actor also does Hawkmoth from Miraculous Ladybug and Deep Sea King from One Punch Man. While writing this I was channeling a mix of the two combining Hawkmoth's whininess and Deep Sea King's cockiness and also both of their tones of frustration. I know some people are sub only for the voices but if you wanted a better idea of what I imagined him sounding like I'd try the dub. :) Also fun fact, the English voice actor for Plagg in Miraculous also is Saitama in One Punch Man! I don't know why but I find that hilarious. XD

That's it this chapter! Next chapter I have some very nice fluff to offset this. Izuku deserves it for all the new drama coming his way. Kekekeke. For now, I leave you with this angst. Cool? Okay, bye! :D

Read a tweet from a japanese fan who watched the fourth movie and made an observation that:

the first movie (released pre-MVA) had Wolfram as the Villain, who was just a thief and power-hungry bad guy who wanted power, and no backstory

the second and third movie (released post MVA) had Villains that grew into Villains due to social hardships: Nine, who is implied in a bonus one-shot drawn by Horikoshi to have been born in a public toilet and grew up marginalized; and Reflect Turn, who was born with a quirk that got him ostracized and rejected by people in his life

and now the fourth movie (released at the end of the MHA with How The Ending Went) had gone back to having just an evil Villain - Dark Might, who, as far as I can tell from English-languaged summaries and reviews, is just a power-hungry mafia boss who wanted to play All Might, also with no backstory given
