was on a bit of a bender, sent a bonkers ask to a another poor blog and forgot about it, but now I think about it, it mightn’t have been as bunk as I thought? I think it went like this
“The clowns are playing their part to perfection” -> thinking about clowns with set parts/roles, Pierrot’s sad relationship/love triangle with Columbine and Harlequin -> pierrot’s character over time has had a lot of range (mostly a sad underdog jokester) -> a 20th century/modernist interpretation of Pierrot as part of ts elliot’s inspiration for the Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock -> (loki reading other Elliot texts) -> “prufrock” poem pretty lokius-flavoured ? -> is mobius or loki in the sad pierrot role ? Maybe both? Sad little clowns, playing their parts to a fault :(
ok looking back at it again it is a bit of a mess, yet I yeet it unto you
Anon if this is you on a bit of a lark I can't even begin to imagine your full power, lol! What an fascinating take that tbh I wish I had even an ounce of the literary awareness necessary to process as thoroughly as deserved but will happily give it a go anyway 😅
I've always found that "clowns are playing their part to perfection" line of Loki's especially striking because while I'm sure it was meant to imply a dismissal of the situation and nonchalance over loss of control, there's no reason it would have the intended impact when nothing about the TVA had come across as less than hypercompetent?? From B-15's seamless takedown of Loki in the first place to the efficient process of variants, swift guilty ruling as his lack of access to magic is scoffed at, and Mobius having the upper hand as a Loki expert there's not really anything for that line to do except hang there as much higher symbolism so I think you're right to look at it in perspective to both Loki and Mobius considering how much they ended up mirroring each other right down to the temporarily (forever an optimist 😂) tragic romance of their ending.
On that note it's very interesting there are such clear comparisons between Loki and Pierrot since as you mentioned Pierrot's known for being an underdog and prankster to hide his unhappiness, flawed and in search of love, not to mention having a near "obsession" with Columbine only to often end up pining for his best and only friend the Moon 👀
While I'm biased and usually think of everything in terms of Mobius so I see both Pierrot (with his sense of endearing, eternally youthful energy) and Harlequin in him, in this case it makes sense to look at him in terms of Harlequin and how he's usually in high spirits, uses his clever nature to solve and escape problems easily, and unlike those around him doesn't hold onto grudges against those who have wronged him. There's also his TVA service that later turns into full devotion to Loki similar to how Harlequin is later considered a witty, faithful valet (""Why aren't the two of you in cahoots with him and his butler?") and it's notable how Loki is described by Mobius as a man of action when in pantomime Pierrot eventually takes on many of the characteristics of Harlequin, ending up representing the symbol of the artist just like Loki created a new story in the end.
Apologies that Prufrock I'm not quite as familiar with outside of a general awareness, but if I remember correctly it ultimately conveys an isolation or distance from the world after being too afraid to confront the surface level emptiness of life?? Which if so talk about Lokius being doomed to the narrative after failing to escape their past circumstances and getting (temporarily!!) confined in the very places they feared 😬

I Promise - Clarisse La Rue x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Reader Age: 16-17
Reader Godly Parent: Poseidon
Synopsis: Reader has just returned from the Labyrinth onto a battlefield. In an adaptation of the Battle of the Labyrinth, the Reader is faced with their own internal battle and wonders if keeping their relationship with Clarisse a secret is truly worth it, as well as facing the realities of war and its implications for their little brother.
Word Count: 3197 (I had thoughts and suddenly there were words on a google document. I had nothing to do with this.)
Preface:
Some of the lines and dialogue are written directly or slightly changed lines from Rick Riordian’s novel “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Battle of the Labyrinth.” Not all of this story is originally from me. Majority of these events happen in the order that they occur in the book with some minor tweaks
Also don’t ask me how the prophecy works here okay. I just think Percy deserves a big sister idk
I'm not 100% sure what age Clarisse is in this book, but google says she's about 16-17, so keep that in mind
================================================
Even if pegasi are like neutral territory between Zeus and Poseidon, I never would fully relax while flying on the back of one. I held on tightly to my pegasus the entire time, muttering apologies for my grip to her the whole time. It’s alright, boss, she told me. If you could just let up on my skin, that would be great.
Once we landed in Camp Half-Blood, I dismounted, petting my pegasus’ snout and apologizing again until she turned with the rest of her friends back towards the stables. Once I turned towards everyone else, Percy seemed to have already shared our story with Chiron and Silenus was arguing with Grover about Pan.
I didn’t pay much attention to this. Not because I didn’t care, but because the lines of half-bloods around Zeus’ fist caught my eye first. I watched as every single half-blood seemed to fall into place, with the Hephaestus cabin maintaining their traps, Apollo and Hermes’ cabins ready with bows in the trees, and Aphrodite kids running around combing people’s hair and straightening their armor.
What I was truly looking for, however, was the Ares cabin, which I found exactly where I knew they would be: the front lines. I surveyed for the girl I had been aching to see since I had left camp, a time that seemed much longer than it probably was. My eyes eventually found her, barking orders at her siblings.
I watched Clarisse move across the lines, prepared for battle and preparing those that stood with her. My eyes moved wherever she moved, never letting up, as if they were people who had finally gotten their first sip of water after years in a desert. I was so focused on her movements, I barely noticed when she finally looked at me.
I wondered if anyone else was following her line of sight, or mine. I wondered if we held the same expressions on our faces. I wondered if anyone could figure out what we were saying.
I love you. I’m sorry we can’t talk right now. Not with what’s happening. Not with this many people around. I will find you after all of this is over.
I promise.
We nodded at each other, faces determined, before we both turned back to our respective duties. I watched as each of my friends dispersed to do what they had to: Annabeth with her siblings, Tyson with the Hephaestus kids, and Grover went over to Juniper.
“Both of you, stay with me,” Chiron spoke. “I want you to wait so we know what we are dealing with. You must go where we need reinforcements.”
Percy and I nodded at him. “I saw Kronos,” Percy suddenly said. “It was Luke.. but he wasn’t…”
“He had golden eyes, yes? To merge with a mortal body would be… arduous. I’m not sure how he could have merged with Luke’s form without it burning into ash,” Chiron wondered aloud.
I chimed in, “Kronos said he had prepared the body.”
“I fear what that can mean. Perhaps it will limit his power, being in a mortal form.”
“Chiron,” Percy’s voice was laced with worry. “What if Kronos is leading this attack?”
“He is not,” Chiron replied, incredibly sure. “I would sense if he was drawing near. I believe you have… inconvenienced him when you two pulled his throne room on top of him.” He paused. “You two and your friend Nico, son of Hades.”
Percy looked down at the ground as I spoke. “We know we should’ve told you. It’s just—”
“I understand why you did not tell me. You felt responsible. You sought to protect him. However, if we are to survive this, we must be able to trust each other. We must —”
Chiron was cut off by the sudden wavering of the Earth. I heard Clarisse yell, “Lock shields!”
Then the Titan Army was upon us.
At first, all I saw was the Laistrygonians. Beckendorf yelled orders to fire the catapults, one of which fired a boulder that took one of them down. Arrows flew through the air. Campers gathered to bring down the remaining giants. I watched as Clarisse yelled even more orders.
Just when it seemed we were winning, another wave came out of the Labyrinth, this time of dracaenae. They were completely covered with battle armor, carrying nets and spears. I watched as some fell into traps while others were battling with campers. I looked for Clarisse again, finding her in a locked fight with one of the reptilian women.
I thought about how unfair this all was. How we were all just kids. How we were forced into this war. How all of this hate and pain was caused by hunger for power.
I thought about how badly I wanted to take Percy away from all of this. How every day I wanted to get him away from his prophecy. How I wanted more than anything for him to be a little kid again.
I thought about how much I wanted to do with Clarisse. How beautiful she was. How she never failed to be the person I could always return to. How she promised me the world and I promised her the universe and it was still less than the both of us deserved.
I thought about how different my life could be if we were brave enough to change it. Maybe being a half-blood wasn’t something we wanted or something we could change. But, we didn’t need to be hiding anymore. It all seemed so stupid now, in the face of life and death,
Suddenly, a hellhound burst out of the opening and Chiron was yelling. “GO!”
Percy and I ran towards the hellhound. All I could see was horrifically clear images in the midst of a blur. Past friends and siblings fighting on opposing sides. Monsters disintegrating whilst others yelled triumphantly. I watched as Nico summoned a dozen undead warriors in various army attire before crumbling to the floor.
“Nico!” I yelled.
“Go! I’ll get the hellhound. You make sure he’s okay!” Percy yelled, running off as I slowed down. I pivoted to Nico, getting on my knees beside him.
“You okay?” I yelled over the commotion of battle.
“Yeah…” he panted. “Go, there’s more of them. You need to help.”
I looked up and got my first full look at everything that was happening. At the gruesome sights of battle. I watched as campers defended their home, the one place they were meant to be safe. I nodded to Nico before getting up.
I almost started to run back where Percy had gone when I heard Grover. He and Juniper were desperately trying to stop a fire that was getting dangerously close to Juniper’s tree. I rushed over, seeing Percy do the same.
I wasn’t sure what to do and by the look on his face, Percy didn’t either. The closest water source was nearly half a mile away, and we didn’t have petrified seashells here. All we could do was concentrate, praying to Poseidon, until I felt a pull in my gut. Suddenly, a wall of water appeared through the trees, dousing the fire. I sighed in relief, glad at least one crisis was averted.
Suddenly, a screech filled the air, followed by the sound of loud flapping wings. Kampê shot into the sky from the labyrinth entrance. Her right hand carried Ariadne’s string until her belt of animal heads rotated to the lion. She stuck the string into the lion’s maw. Safe keeping, I suppose.
Kampê drew her twin swords, which seemed to be dripping with poison. Chiron sent an arrow through the sky towards her, which she sensed as she moved at the last moment. Campers started to run away in fear.
“No! Stay and fight!” Tyson yelled, before being promptly slammed to the ground by a hellhound. They went rolling away.
Kampê landed on the Athena tent and Percy and I ran after her. Annabeth appeared on Percy’s side.
“This might be it,” she said.
“Could be,” Percy replied.
“Okay… morbid,” I muttered under my breath, but neither of them seemed to hear me, or acted like they didn’t.
“Nice fighting with you, seaweed brain.”
“Ditto.”
We all rushed towards Kampê, who lashed at us with her swords. My eyes burned from the poison lacing the blades. My lungs couldn’t seem to fully fill with air.
“We need help!” I yelled.
But there was no one to help. Either each half-blood was locked in their own fight or was too afraid to move towards us.
“Now!” Annabeth yelled, and all three of us rushed in at different angles. But it wasn’t enough. Kampê’s belt of animals snapped at me and I went back trying to not get bitten.
Suddenly, I was on my back, ears ringing and head spinning. I couldn’t breathe due to a heavy weight. I opened my eyes to see Kampê’s leg on my chest, Percy pinned under the other, and Annabeth thrown off to the side, dazed and not getting up. Kampê raised her sword and I realized this was it. I prayed that Percy would get a fair judgement from the council in the Underworld, that they hadn’t all been bought out by Kronos.
Suddenly, a whirl of black pounced onto Kampê, throwing her off of us and I gasped for air.
“Good girl!” Daedalus called after her. I turned my head and watched as he slashed down monsters, followed closely behind by a friendly face… and many hands.
“Briares!” Tyson called excitedly.
“Hail, little brother!” Briares bellowed back. “Stand firm!”
Briares took up a boulder in nearly each hand, throwing them at Kampê, piling them around her. She was encased within her own makeshift monument taller than Zeus’ fist. By the time he was done, the only evidence that there was an ancient monster inside was from the twin swords still poking out between the stones.
The rocks shifted slightly, slotting into place.
Before I could celebrate that victory, I heard commotion over to the side. I turned just in time to watch Chiron get knocked down from his hind legs, laying on his side. I tried my best to get up, ignoring the ache in my chest from Kampê’s attack.
As suddenly as I had gotten up to start running towards Chiron, I was back on my knees, covering my ears. The shrill sound seemed to come out of nowhere until I looked over at Grover. His mouth open wide, he seemed to have infinite lung capacity as the sound continued.
The enemies seemed to think better than to stick around after that. I watched dracaenae put down their weapons and sprint towards the labyrinth entrance. I watch laestrygonians rush towards the entrance right after them. More and more of the armies retreated until eventually they all seemed to have gone back underground.
Once the screeching had stopped, the sudden stillness in the air was agonizing. All I could hear was my own breathing as I heaved, still trying to recover from the previous heaviness crushing my lungs. I eventually pushed myself up and grabbed one of Annabeth’s arms with Percy.
I ran with the other two over to Chiron and kneeled in front of him.
“Are you alright? What can I do?”
“Nothing. This is embarrassing,” Chiron chuckled. “Thankfully, we don’t shoot centaurs with broken legs. I’ll be alright eventually.”
“Let me get someone from the medic tent,” Annabeth rushed, already standing up before Chiron stopped her.
“No need, Annabeth. There are far more severe injuries.”
“Guys!” I whipped my head to look for the source of the voice. “Come quick! It’s Nico.”
I shot up, running over to the black heap on the floor. I’d forgotten about him after the intense battle. Dammit.
I got down next to him, looking at his sweaty face. I grabbed his ice cold hands for a pulse.
“He needs nectar! Quickly!” Percy yelled. One of the Ares campers quickly came over with the bottle as I propped Nico up as best as I could onto my knee. Percy dribbled some of the liquid into his mouth. I let out a sigh of relief as he stirred.
“Gods, Nico. I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”
The boy coughed slightly before nodding. “Never tried to summon so many at once before. I’ll be okay.” He turned his head to look beside me. “Daedalus.”
I looked over at the man as Mrs. O’Leary loomed behind him, licking his wounds that were leaking oil. Freaky.
Percy and Daedalus spoke as I tried to convince Nico to rest for a moment. Of course, he refused. I shook my head at him. “One day, you'll have to stop being so stubborn,” I told him.
He rolled his eyes, but smiled slightly. “Bianca would say the same thing. I’ll stop when it doesn’t work for me anymore.”
“But Daedalus,” Percy said. “Even without the string, Kronos’ army still has a way into camp.”
“You’re right,” Daedalus sighed. “As long as the Labyrinth is here, your enemies can use it. And so, the labyrinth can no longer continue.”
Annabeth stepped forward. “But, you said the Labyrinth was connected to you. If the labyrinth’s gone –”
“Yes, Annabeth. I too will be gone. And so, I have a present for you.”
Daedalus removed his satchel from his back and pulled out his laptop, engraved with a greek delta, and handed it to Annabeth. “That holds several designs of mine. Some unfinished, some I think you’ll find interesting, others I felt could never be in the mortal world. I'm positive you will find some things useful there.”
Annabeth was speechless. “This… This is priceless. And you’re just giving this to me?”
“It is less than you deserve. Less than I should do to atone for my mistakes.”
As Daedalus spoke of his time coming to an end and accepting whatever punishment he will be given from his judgment in the Underworld, I came to realize just how small we all are. Just how little we are meant to live. How many regrets we still have over such little time.
I looked around at all of the half-bloods scattered around. I saw some over at the medical tent, others scattered just hugging their friends and siblings, some sitting by the ones we lost who had been covered by thin fabrics.
I questioned my own mortality, and Percy’s. We weren’t meant to live forever. We were never going to. But with the little amount of time we both had, how many regrets would we hold with us?
I thought of Clarisse. I thought of how I hadn’t gone up to her before the battle. How I’d always regret that. I thought of how we both decided to keep our relationship a secret. How that was something I didn’t want to do anymore if it meant having to live with regrets. I thought about how I hadn’t seen her since I had joined the battle.
I looked back at the scene before me as Nico pulled out his sword and stepped before Daedalus. After being zoned out for a second, it freaked me out, until I realized Nico wasn’t raising it.
“Your time has long since come. Be released and rest.”
The relief in Daedalus’ eyes was freeing for us all. Knowing that he was truly ready brought us all some consolation. We watched as his body turned to dust.
I took Percy’s hand in mine and gave him a small smile. “I know there’s a lot to do, but there's something I have to do first.”
Percy nodded. “I know,” he said, and for some odd reason, I knew that he fully did, even though he didn’t say it. I looked down as he continued to speak. “You really didn’t have to hide it from me, you know? I was a bit upset about it at first but I think I was more… sad that you felt you couldn’t tell me.”
I looked back into his eyes and breathed out through my nose, smiling softly. “I just didn’t want you to hate me for this. More than just the ‘Clarisse’ part.”
“Oh, well, that part I might hold a bit of a grudge about,” he smiled at me in a way that told me he was joking. “But otherwise, all I care about is that you’re happy.”
We smiled at each other before Percy suddenly wrapped his arms around my waist. It felt like he was just a little kid again, like he was just my little brother, nothing more. It felt like we suddenly weren’t in the middle of a battlefield and there was an ancient monster buried in rubble just a few feet over. It felt like I was back home. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders.
“I will kill her if she makes you cry.”
We laughed harder than we should have.
He pulls away first, telling me to “get my girl.” I don’t even think twice before turning and starting to run through the battlefield.
I frantically looked around for Clarisse, hoping and praying to every single god that she was okay. I was so frantic that I nearly missed her over by the Ares station, seeming to be ignoring something her brother was saying in favor of looking out at all of the other half-bloods.
I didn’t even think before my feet were moving. Clarisse started to walk around, looking for something. It wasn’t until we made eye contact that I realized it was me she was looking for, when her eyes softened in the way they always seemed to whenever she looked at me, like she was letting go of the anger embedded within her skin and cooling off just a bit.
It didn’t matter to me that we were surrounded by people, and Clarisse made no complaints when my left hand cupped her cheek and my lips met hers. Her arms held my waist as my right arm circled around to hold the back of her neck. I could feel the sweat that was dripping down from the battle and the adrenaline that was just beginning to crash.
I didn’t realize she was crying until I tasted the saltiness. I withdrew slightly before pecking her lips once more. The thumb of my left hand moved to her cheek and under her eye to wipe the tears.
I didn’t realize I was crying until Clarisse’s left hand left my waist to wipe the tears on the right side of my face. We both laughed slightly, bringing our foreheads together and closing our eyes. I angled my head to kiss her one more time before hugging her properly. She buried her face into my neck and I laughed at how it tickled.
“Gods, we both smell horrible.”
“I know.”
We didn’t speak for a while, soaking up each other, but it still didn't feel like enough.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” she whispered.
“I’m glad you’re okay, too.”
It didn’t matter that everyone at camp could see us and Clarisse didn’t seem to mind it either. There were more important things than reputation right now.

they're-both-so-helpless
Rengoku Kyojuro x Reader
Word Count: ~600
CW: explicit language, mild sexual content
Author’s Note: starting 2024 off w/ Kyojuro❣️ Began writing this while at work… winter makes for slow days when selling ice cream. 😆 Pt 2 coming ~soon aka prob within the next 24 hrs since my shift’s almost over lol.
emphasis-on-helpless, helplessly-in-love
Tumblr media
Missing your boyfriend is tough… especially when he isn’t actually your boyfriend.
“He might as well be!” Mitsuri says whenever she’s with you, “I swear you check your phone at least twice as often ever since you became friends.” The tips of your ears warm, eyes glued to the newest Snap of Kyojuro’s cheerful face. “Will you at least show me?” Mitsuri huffs, head tilting to catch a glance, “Aww, he’s so cute!” “But he’s not my boyfriend,” you mutter, quickly snapping a blurry photo of your melting ice cream. Eyes gleaming, Mitsuri hums knowingly, slinging a giddy arm around you without another word. You silently thank her gesture of respecting your privacy—something your other friend, Shinobu, rarely does—hurriedly eating a spoonful of your dessert as he snaps back: You got ice cream without me?! ☹️ I fear I am mortally wounded. 💔 You appease him with a Snap of your own frown, promising him i’ll bring u next time 🥺🍦 pointedly ignoring Mitsuri’s smooching noises when Kyojuro fires back with It’s a date! 😁😋 Sooo maybe nobody respects your privacy.
You’ve never considered yourself shy, but you have resigned yourself to being perpetually friendzoned, a bit too person-next-door in a would-never-date-their-neighbor way rather than a person-next-door who also is-totally-down-to-date-their-handsome-neighbor way. Like puffing out your chest while walking on the sidewalk to convey confidence and get people out of your path, you’ve mastered the art of giving off don’t-fuck-with-me vibes — despite desperately wanting to fuck.
And therein lies the problem-not-actually-a-problem with one Rengoku Kyojuro. Also known as, Mitsuri’s favorite barista. Also known as, immediately flirted with you when Mitsuri finally took you to his cafe for brunch, writing his number on your cup and everything. Also known as, might not have been flirting with you and in fact was just being nice because he has yet to properly-not-jokingly ask you on a real-official-non-platonic date. You’ve survived a blustery autumn of pumpkin spice lattes and too many free muffins, persevered through a surprisingly snug winter of It’s my special recipe hot chocolates and ice skating with the gang (Mitsuri, Shinobu, Kyojuro, and his insufferable friend Tengen), and felt wistfully hopeful as spring came and went, having your voice compared to blossoming flowers and your smile to tender sunshine… only to dream alone, his contagious grin and addictingly cozy hugs lingering even as you woke with the sensation of tears in your eyes.
“You should tell him how you feel!” Shinobu sighs, an exasperated, endeared sound as she watches you bemoan your adoration.
“Oh yeah, because he definitely feels the same after a year of literally zero signs!”
“He called your ice cream plans last week a date,” Mitsuri chimes in, rubbing your shoulders as she exchanges a they’re-both-so-helpless look with Shinobu.
“Platonically,” you shoot back, sagging into Mitsuri’s touch, “He’s so gentlemanly and sweet, I never know whether we’re flirting or he’s simply being polite! Friendly! A friend!”
“I repeat,” Shinobu deadpans, “Tell him how you feel.”
You pout, chewing on your upper lip as you mumble, “And if he doesn’t like me?”
“Nonsense!” Mitsuri declares brightly, squeezing you—Owww—a little too hard, “He doesn’t talk to anyone else like he talks to you.”
“I talk to you differently than I talk to Shinobu. Doesn’t mean anything,” you grumble.
“I’m trying to uplift you,” Mitsuri huffs, playfully pulling on your earlobe, “Trust us. Okay? He would absolutely date you if he knew you were interested in dating.”
“Since when have I said I’m not interested?!” you wail in dismay.
“You’ve never said you are interested,” Shinobu quips.
You scowl at her as she tosses a good natured pillow at you, Mitsuri clicking her tongue as you squish the pillow against your sternum, heart aching when your phone lights up Rengoku Kyojuro sent you a Snap • 🔥.

Hello :3 Imagine this, Bo Sinclair x future s/o that's having major car troubles. The reader seeks out the help of a local mechanic (Bo <3) but absolutely doesn't know how to react when the said mechanic decides to get all flirty. The reader becomes embarrassed -they don't know how to handle such advances but they have a massive crush on the stranger. I can picture Bo getting so cocky at being able to turn them into such a blushing mess with just mere words. Sadly the car "can't" be fixed anytime soon so the reader "has" to stay around much longer than expected. Now, I do suspect that you might be raising your brows at the quotation marks but there is an explanation behind them - an explanation which neither Bo nor his future SO are willing to admit. The car isn't truly in such a bad condition. A quick minor repair could have done the trick, the troublemakers both simply didn't want to part ways. The reader secretly disconnected a cable, while Bo decided to remove some spark plug leads or they did something else to make the car not run, while the other person wasn't looking. Thank you for reading, I know that this request is massive and super duper loaded. I will be grateful for anything you decide to do with it and of course, feel free to edit and change the idea as much as your heart desires. At the end of the day, this is all about us having fun and I know I'm going to love whatever you come up. -Snake, your internet fan ^u^
I love this one! I would do the same, honestly :3 . I tried my best with this one.
Soulmate AU
Bo x reader
Contains: Bo tries to kill you, stealing car parts
Tumblr media
You weren't supposed to be in Ambrose this long, both you and Bo can agree on that, but the both of you didn't regret it.
Besides, that's how soulmates work, right? As soon as he felt that ping in his chest and the pull in his heart, he was already yours without you needing to breath his name.
At first, it was your break pads needing repaired along with the break line being cut, but you didn't know that he took the clippers and did the cut. Instead, he told you it'll take a week before the part comes in, forcing you to stay in Ambrose at his home.
Bo wanted to kill you at first, but the way you smiled and worked so easily within his life... it's like your the last piece in his heart puzzle. His mother told him that it would be a miricel before anyone would love him including his soulmate, but you made it look so easy that it made him want to cry. He actually did cry on the fourth night you were here. His heart was bursting and beating so fast that he didn't know what to do. On one hand was his mother's legancy, in the other was thoughts of you being called Y/n Sinclair. When he crept into your room, he was ready to kill you. He raised his knife high above his head and was about to bring it down, but the moon had other plans. She cast her soft glow over your skin and soft lips. You looked like an angel sleeping in one of his old shirts. Bo's heart ached and bleed. He lowered his knife and left the room.
As soon as he closed the door behind him, you fell to his knees and cried silently in his hands. You were it. You were his soulmate.
But weren't making this easy for him. His house truly felt like a home as soon as you stepped into the living room.
Your smile and laughter, how you looked at Vincent without fear, and how you loved on Jonesy and Lester as if you knew them since forever, Bo wanted you to stay, but he knew he couldn't have you. That doesn’t mean he should give up trying to have you stay, though. How he got you to stay longer was stealing the transmitter and spark plugs.
For you? You were just as sneaky as him.
The moment you laid eyes on him, you were in love. You know he was your soulmate as soon as that ping in your chest chimed. It's like something clicked in your brain when he wiped the sweat from his brow and button his work uniform, his smile painting a sunrise, and the way he looked talked and acted-- you were sold.
At first, you acted disappointed when he said you had to stay a week with him and his family until the part came in, but you felt as if you were home as soon as you helped wash the dishes after your first dinner there while staying still long enough for Vincent to draw you. When he told you about the transmitter and the spark plugs along with the unfortent news that you had to say another week, you were more than happy.
Back at the house, you made yourself useful with cleaning, cooking, gardening, and talking. Whenever you were with Bo, you two worked so well with each other that it scared Vincent and Lester. It's like you two knew a dance that was never taught, and it was beautiful.
As the ping grew, you felt like he was made for you. He would talk to you while he leaned in the doorway of your room, hands in his pockets. He felt as if it was so easy to talk to you about his dreams and hopes, and you felt like you could talk to him forever about your past and your ideas of a future home. One night, you two stayed up in until you fell asleep on his shoulder in your room. You two sat on the floor in front of Vincent's old bed as you talked about the best times and worst times until four in the morning. Around you, an empty pizza box along with empty bottles laid around you two.
“Wanna stay?” You asked sleepily. “Just until the sun comes up?”
His answer was a smile and his arms pulling you in.
You wanted to stay forever after learning about your soulmate, but you'll only stay if he wants you too. However, you didn't want to wait for an answer. While his back was turned after putting on the spark plugs, you cut two wires in your car. What were they for? You didn't know.
He slammed the hood on the car and started it up, but it didn't turn. Smiling to yourself, you knew he would have you stay another two nights, and Bo was okay with this.
So, how long did this game of tag go? You taking parts while he broke some?
Well, Lester and Vincent let this game go on for two months. Clearly, they knew what was going on as soon as Bo had Vincent hide your car keys while you had Lester hide your car battery.
"Why can't they just kiss and call it?" Lester complained after watching Bo hide the spark plugs again.
Vincent shrugged while he held out the second set of break lines you took off the car. 'This has to stop, man. I don't know if I can take anymore of this.'
Lester watched as Bo and you danced around each other, both speaking about the missing parts and dinner. You’re thinking spaghetti. “Simps, the lot of them.”
You've been in Ambrose for five months when you felt the ping in your chest tighten. It was so hard that it knocked the wind out of your lungs. You were in the middle of bringing out dinner when it happened, and you dropped the food and fell to the floor. Bo felt the pain, too, as he held he gripped his shirt tightly and coughed.
Lester helped you stand and brought you to the chair before he started cleaning the mess. Vincent brought you water and rubbed your back.
Bo? He went outside and had a cigarette on the porch. He racked his brain until he couldn't take it anymore. To make it stop, to make the pain go away, he had to tell you. He knew you felt the same based off everything, but he didn't know how to tell you about the missing car parts and how he was destroying your car.
That's when he heard you tell Lester to put the battery back into the car and return the wires once he walked through the door.
You made eye contact with him and looked down at the table.
He couldn't believe it. You... you were doing the same thing as him.
Bo let a smile leave as he knelt in front of you, taking your hands in his, and said, "I was doin' the same."
You raised a brow. "What?"
"I've been stealing parts of your car to make you stay," he said, shaking his head, laughing. "I was doin' it because of 'is whole soulmate thing--"
"So, you feel the ping, too?" You asked. "It's been tearing me apart for months!" You smiled at him as the warm feeling around your heart eased. "Here I thought I was going crazy and feeling bad about breaking my car..." you shake your head and smile. "Bo, we are meant to be."
“Sure are, darlin’,” he drawled, laughing He met your smile and kissed your knuckles. As soon as his lips touched your skin, his heart eased and the pain left. He looked up at you with hopeful eyes then asked, "Does that mean I have to fix your car still?"
"Only if you let me give you the tools."

No More Pretend
(7k, canon compliant, missing scene)
(read on ao3)
“I just don’t understand why we can’t pretend we’re brother and sister, and you’re our father.”
Vlad rolled his eyes. “You two look nothing alike, my boy, no one would believe it. And two strange men traveling with an unmarried woman would only raise suspicion. Now, here you go, darling.”
Without much ceremony Anya found herself letting Vlad slip a band around her ring finger on her left hand. At least Dmitry had the decency to look just as uncomfortable by the idea as she felt.
“Unless you want to spend another night in this rain,” Vlad continued, “this might be the only way we can afford a place to sleep.”
As grim as a man at a funeral, Dmitry swallowed and offered his arm to her. He had once said only suckers paid full price for anything, but maybe now he was regretting being so bold.
Sure, they still had enough money leftover from Anya’s diamond. Tomorrow they would find a train to Berlin. But here, in this little tourist village in Poland, they needed to conserve whatever pennies they had or else they’d be scraping the bottom of the barrel once they reached Paris. That was how Vlad explained the budget, anyway. It made sense.
But that did not change the fact that Anya hated this plan.
“What’s our story?” Dmitry asked. They followed Vlad up the road.
“You’re newlyweds, small dowry. And I’m Anya’s loveable uncle. We come from a factory family, humble city folk, that sort. Oh, and we’re from Lithuania, not Russia. Better not give them any reason to suspect we bring a trail of Bolsheviks behind us.”
At the door to the inn, Vlad gave them one last look over and sighed. Like he was already resigned to this plan falling apart. “Let me do the talking. You just stand there and… be pleasant. Please. I deserve a good bed.”
They all did. It was the middle of the night, it had been pouring rain since they woke in the woods at dawn, and they hadn’t slept in a real bed since they left Russia. Anya was beyond exhausted. And all three of them looked it. Since they’d spent days without a moment’s break from each other, their nerves were brittle and prickly from the stress.
Anya glanced up at Dmitry just once. His expression didn’t give much away, but his cheeks were pink, and his eyes were deliberately fixed on his shoes. She didn’t blame him. Everything that happened between them so far since they’d met had been… intense. Intense fear, intense anger, intense joy. Like jumping off of a moving train, for example. Or dancing like they were a young couple at a ball. There was never a time where they were just. Calm. Indifferent. It was exhausting.
She supposed that wasn’t how either of them operated, anyway.
As they entered the lobby of the inn, a doorbell chimed overhead, and Dmitry walked with stiff knees next to her. Anya felt like a million eyes were on her. Like the word ‘imposter’ was printed in big red letters on her forehead.
They weren’t convincing. Like, at all. Even though they were just standing there silently as instructed while Vlad did all the talking no one bought it. The clerk kept narrowing his eyes at them over his spectacles, and the woman next to him didn’t even glance up from her book. Anya didn’t blame either of them. Dmitry clearly didn’t know how to be a gentleman, and Anya didn’t know how to be a wife, let alone a girl in love. The ring was too big. That much was obvious. It could slip right off her finger if she wasn’t careful. And it clearly wasn’t real gold to anyone looking close enough, not something a proper lady would ever wear or accept from a proposal, too tacky and false.
This whole ruse was tacky and false.
“Unfortunately we only have one room left, but the executive suite will be far too high outside of your budget.” The clerk’s voice was nasally and tired and uninterested. And suspicious. He pushed his spectacles up his nose.
Anya knew enough Polish to get by, and Vlad was proficient in the language, able to navigate the conversation easily. But Dmitry was practically in the dark next to her.
Vlad, always persistent, gave it his all, weaving a tale of woe behind them. But he was running out of thread. One glance in Dmitry’s direction said it all. You’re up.
Dmitry stepped forward, pulling Anya with him. “Forgive me, sir,” he started, halting and slow. He had his cap crumpled in his hands. The spitting image of a humble working boy. “My wife and I have come a long way, and she’s awful tired and needs her rest.” He was dropping consonants and stumbling over the words, but Dmitry was playing it as a sort of shyness instead of a language barrier. “I don’t think we can bear it if we have to move on tonight.”
Vlad jumped in again, throwing more lines to his scene partner with an expertise that made Anya raise her eyebrows. They went back and forth a bit. Dmitry and Vlad had done this before— had made a livelihood out of improvising together. They came to their jobs prepared with premeditated characters, scene notes, and sometimes even costumes. She’d seen them in action a few times at the market. Next to them, Anya felt a little out of her depth. She couldn’t lie like that on the fly. Not even for a warm bed. She could play pretend, yeah, but she needed to warm up a bit first, not jump in cold like these two. Perhaps she should look at this as practice for her big moment with the dowager empress soon.
She snapped back into focus when Dmitry, instead of hooking his arm through hers like before, snaked his hand around her waist and tugged her flush against his side. She offered a smile, hoping she looked like a new wife who ran away from her disapproving father (?) to be with the man she loved, not just an orphan desperate to get off her feet.
The clerk remained unimpressed with this charade. “Next town is a few kilometers south of here. Maybe you’ll have better luck there.”
Vlad and Dmitry shared a knowing look. This might not be a round they would win.
Thunder rattled the walls. Anya’s heart raced. They went through all this trouble for what, to be thrown out? After all of that? No. She wouldn’t allow it. Not even some bored and self-important clerk would take away her rare chance of rest and safety from whatever Cheka officers were on their trail.
And Anya really, really didn’t want to sleep in the rain tonight.
“Please, sir,” she said, her voice meek and wobbly. She hadn’t planned on speaking at all, both boys gave her surprised looks. “We’ve come a long way, we have nowhere else.” She didn’t know where the tears were coming from. Vlad was watching her with his mouth agape. “The last inn didn’t have beds available either, so we’ve had to walk ten more kilometers in search of room and board, and I haven’t eaten in a day—” she swallowed, “can you at least spare us a meal?”
The clerk was visibly uncomfortable. “I’m afraid the kitchen is closed, and only available to our guests…”
Anya nodded, smiling sadly. “I understand. You’re just doing your best.”
Dmitry’s grip on her waist tightened and he bent down, lips brushing her ear, “It’s okay, darling.” His hot breath startled her, but she willed herself to not show it. He was just playing the pity card. Nothing to get worked up over. “We’ll find a place in the next town, I promise.”
The clerk was still just looking between them regretfully. It wasn’t working.
Anya took a shaky breath. “It’s just,” she sniffed, lifting her hand to her stomach, “I’m eating for two now.”
The clerk’s eyes widened. Anya didn’t have to look up at Dmitry to know his neck was red, his sharp inhale only audible to her. Because the thought of him knocking her up was— well, not exactly something she even wanted to consider right now.
“I— I’ve only just found out, you see, and I had hoped— it hasn’t been easy, you know, in these times—” her hand came up to cover her mouth, as if overcome with hopelessness, “but I hoped there would be good people out there who will give our child a good future…” she let herself dissolve into pitiful sniffles.
“Uh,” the poor clerk’s upper lip was damp with perspiration, “well, miss, that still doesn’t change the fact that we don’t have any rooms in your price range, and—”
“Oh good grief Julian,” the woman next to him finally spoke up, slamming her book shut. “Give the poor girl a bedroom!”
“What?”
Annoyed, this woman— Anya’s new best friend— shoved him away from the guest book. “We can offer our nicest room with a garden view on the house. And while the cook has left we still have plenty of stew that can be warmed up. Supper tonight and breakfast tomorrow free of charge.”
Anya felt guilty right away. “Oh, that’s not necessary—”
“Nonsense!” She was already handing them a key. “Julian, their luggage. You just follow me dear.”
Anya wiped her cheeks, the satisfaction that they got what they wanted making it easy to stop crying. Dmitry was staring at her with an expression she couldn’t quite name.
“Was that too far?” She asked under her breath when they were out of sight and earshot.
Dmitry’s lips tugged at the corners, just a little. Like he was fighting it. “It was genius.”
The three of them followed their savior up the squeaky steps while she chatted. Turned out the woman who helped them, Lena, was the owner of the entire establishment. They didn’t need to convince everyone of their ruse, just the right person, and they’d succeeded. Lena kept touching Anya’s shoulder, somewhat motherly, speaking so fast Anya wasn’t quite able to catch every word in the unfamiliar language, but she understood the sentiment all the same. Appreciated it.
The room wasn’t all that grand, but it was warm and dry and had enough beds for them all to sleep. The woman promised dinner would be warmed up by the time they were settled and said to just head down when they were ready. And then they were alone. Anya felt tension in her shoulders drop. They could take a little intermission from their show.
Vlad was laughing like a madman. “Anya, you beautiful, brilliant girl. You ought to be on the stage!”
Anya wiped one last false tear from her cheek and gave him a smile. “I don’t know how you boys made it this far without me.”
“Neither do I!”
She couldn’t help but let out a little giggle, his enthusiasm was always so contagious. Dmitry was still just. Staring. Pretending not to stare.
Vlad poked around and complained about the room, how “that son of a bitch clerk didn’t need to be so uptight for something so goddamn mediocre. I mean, it’s just one full and one twin bed, for god’s sake! I paid for the executive suite, it should at least have some class.”
“You didn’t pay for anything,” Dmitry interjected. “None of us did.”
“Well, I negotiated for the executive suite.”
“Technically, Anya did the negotiating for us…”
Anya personally didn’t have anything to complain about. A bed was a bed. But she understood his sentiment, his impatience for reaching the promised land of a sort, of just wanting something nice and comfortable and safe.
Anya sat at the corner of the twin bed, where she would sleep tonight, and removed her boots for just a few minutes, just to curl her toes and flex her aching feet, and then they all changed into dry clothes and she had to put her boots back on so they could go downstairs to eat. Her stomach was roaring at the prospect of getting a hot meal by the time they were in the dining area. For a second she was afraid her hunger was making her so dizzy she might stumble on the steps. The three found a table for four. Anya, all too aware of the pressure of the performance, pointedly waited to sit until Dmitry remembered to pull out the chair for her. Because. You know. They were supposed to be married and that was what married people did. At least she thought.
They ate quietly and quickly, the sound of spoons scraping bowls. Anya hoped she looked like a lady who was just a little hungry and not the starving creature washed off the streets she actually was.
Vlad, rightfully exhausted of their company, made himself comfortable at the bar, chatting up the barmaid as she closed. Anya figured she probably shouldn’t join him at the bar ‘in her condition.’ So that left her alone at the table with Dmitry. Her alleged husband. Even if it was just a ruse for the night, the title still made it hard for her to look at him.
Dmitry’s knee was bouncing under the table. Maybe he was just as anxious and uncomfortable by how this night had gone as Anya was.
He picked through his meal, chewing slowly. Her bowl was empty, but she stared longingly at it, as if she could make more stew appear out of thin air. It would be fine. She’d survived on less. At this point she was just praying no one who worked at the inn would come and talk to her because she didn’t have the energy to keep up these pretenses much longer.
Dmitry cleared his throat. “You still hungry?” he asked.
“No,” Anya lied. She forgot to adjust her tone to that of a wife. From afar they probably looked as gloomy as two people who had to just dig a grave. But if she was honest she would tell him she forgot what it felt like to not be hungry. Her stomach had transformed into a bottomless void.
“You can have mine.”
“No,” she said again, meeting his eye for the first time since they got here. “You need the protein, too.”
“I’m not really hungry.” He pushed his bowl towards her. “Seriously. Eat.”
Her stomach audibly growled again, betraying her morals.
“You’re eating for two now, remember?” And then the corners of his mouth pulled into a grin that she couldn’t help but mirror.
Dmitry’s smiles could completely transform his face. He usually smirked or scoffed meanly, but when he genuinely, truly smiled, it was beautiful. Even this little quiet one he was giving her now lifted ten years of sorrows off of him.
Just to get him to smile at her like that again, Anya pulled his bowl closer to herself and started digging in.
As she ate, they continued to sit in a not-so-uncomfortable silence. At the bar Vlad was talking louder and louder with each drink. Dmitry’s knee resumed bouncing.
“You hear that?” he asked suddenly. “It stopped raining.”
She swallowed her bite and tilted her ear up. Indeed, the rain had stopped. “I guess we didn’t have to try so hard.”
“No, this was worth it,” he insisted. Still fighting to keep his smile from widening to more than just a twitch of the corner of his mouth. “You about done? I don’t want them to come ask us any more questions.”
“Me neither.” Her eyes went to the door, praying Lena wouldn’t come back and make herself comfortable at their table to grill her about the pregnancy, or their marriage, or their journey, or any other details about this little alternate timeline Anya didn’t want to write a script for. She scooped the last drop of broth onto her spoon, savored the taste. “Now I’m done.” Neither of them made a move to get up. Maybe they were tired enough to fall asleep at this table right here. But the nervous energy was making her heart race in her chest, maybe the same thing making his knee bounce, that the thought of going to bed made her feel all antsy and anxious all over again. “I don’t know if I can sleep,” she admitted.
“Wanna go for a walk, then?”
The question surprised her. Dmitry’s expression was guarded, trying to look like he didn’t care. It had been a long day. The best thing to do would be to get to bed, head start on what little sleep she would get, to feel refreshed and ready to continue their journey in the morning. “Sure,” she answered.
He nodded. “I’ll go get your coat.”
Outside the rain had vanished, but the pavement was damp and shining with cold puddles, and even though they were well into March, there was a bite to the air.
Dmitry shook water off of his boot, his nose scrunched in annoyance. “It almost makes me miss the snow.”
Anya shook her head. “I never want to be that cold again.”
“Fair.”
He had left his hat in the room, she noticed. He pushed his hair away from his face, something she used to believe was a sign of his ever abundant vanity, something that would make her roll her eyes every time; but now she understood it was just a nervous tick that she was starting to find particularly endearing. Just a little.
They walked in comfortable silence for a bit, content with just breathing fresh air for a few minutes. It was refreshing, really. Not having to pretend or to live up to any impossible expectations for once. To get to experience what mundanity was like with Dmitry. Everything between them so far had been life or death, emotions at their peak intensity, but right now things were relatively mild.
Until Dmitry’s hand found her wrist, his pace quickening.
“What is it?” Anya asked. Maybe taking a walk when they were on the lamb like this was stupid.
“There’s this guy with a hat— I’ve seen the same man at least three times,” he whispered in a tense and low voice.
“Do you think he’s following us?”
“Don’t know. Better not lead him back to our lodging.”
They continued meandering around the quiet streets while Anya’s mind raced. “What if— do you think someone followed from—”
“Don’t know,” was all he said.
Their pursuer had caught up to them. Anya tried to pretend he wasn’t there, keeping her gaze fixed ahead, but now that he was closer she could tell he wasn’t wearing the crisp uniform of a Bolshevik or seemed to be attempting to stop them. Phew. Anya’s shoulders relaxed just a hair.
Not a Bolshevik. But a creep.
“Hey honey, what’s he paying you for the night?”
Anger flared in her stomach. Anya was calculating the best way to tackle the offender, maybe tear at his eyes for good measure, when Dmitry’s hand came around her upper arm. Not holding her back, just pacifying her. Reminding her he was there. Angling himself between her and the stranger when he said, “Just leave her alone.”
The man, still talking only to Anya, jeered, “What? He doesn’t like to share?”
Before Anya could even utter an appalled Excuse me? Dmitry had the man’s lapels in his fists.
“Say that again,” he hissed, “and you’ll be choking on your teeth.”
The man belched and laughed. He clearly posed no real threat. He wasn’t like other men she’d had encounters with. But adrenaline was still coursing through Anya’s veins, and she was struggling to fight the panic from rising.
Dmitry threw him back and he stumbled to keep his balance. Anya pulled at her companion’s arm and shoulder to prevent him from pursuing further. “Dmitry, stop, it’s not worth it.”
His nostrils flared as he met her eyes. “You would just let him talk to you like that?”
“I had it under control!” The offender started stumbling away, having deemed the pair of them not worth the trouble, though neither minded him much attention. “You don’t—” she tried to calm her nerves, to keep the desperation from leaking into her voice, “you don’t have to do that for me.”
Dmitry was frowning at her, more in pity than anger. That made her mad.
“I can handle myself.”
“I know,” he raised his hands in defense. “I know you’re strong. That doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt.”
She looked down at her hands, now trembling from the hysteria threatening to bubble over. She almost wished they were actually followed by a Bolshevik. That would’ve been simpler. Just a clean cut enemy that made sense, one they could confront, dangerous yet uncomplicated. But this cut a little deeper in a more embarrassing, personal way. An invisible fear she could not fight. And a lonely fear, too.
“You okay?” he asked, voice soft, touching her elbow. Not grabbing, just. Touching. Offering. Leaving it up to her.
It took her aback, because, well. She couldn’t remember the last time anyone was looking out for her like that. Protecting her. Had anyone ever done that for her before, period? It wasn’t like she needed it. She could take care of herself. She’d proven so on the night those drunks had surrounded them, she protected them both, and the fighting was arguably worse than this. This particular situation hadn’t even escalated out of her control yet.
And yet.
Man. It felt nice. To be seen as someone worth the effort.
That someone like Dmitry Sudayev found her worth protecting.
The thought spooked her so much she had to step away. “I’m fine,” she said just to fill the silence, but it came out a little too curt, but it was too late to take it back. His hand dropped to his side. “Let’s just go back.”
He still studied her, as if he was waiting for her to collapse or something. Reluctantly his eyes dropped. “Okay.”
Too many embarrassing things happened tonight in a row. First the mortifying task of pretending to be a wife, then prompting the image that she was carrying his child, and now this. One at a time she could’ve handled these things, probably. But all within the span of a few hours? Who could?
Her chest was uncomfortably hot, like if somebody cut her sternum open a plume of steam would waft up. Her hands were still shaking so she balled her fists, and when that didn’t help she stuffed them in her pockets. Her breathing wasn’t quite right, either, but maybe walking would help in a few minutes, and she tried to avoid thinking about it too much because then she would forget to breathe altogether and then the whole mess would just get worse. Logically she knew she was safe. But her body always took too long to catch up.
Dmitry just kept on watching her. Like she was an automobile accident he couldn’t look away from.
This kept happening. She kept falling apart in front of him and it was so goddamn embarrassing. Except she’d never really been embarrassed about this before, but there was something about Dmitry that just. She just didn’t want him to see her as a simpering mess all the time. She wanted him to respect her. So she clenched her fists, willing the cracks to stop spreading, physically keeping herself from shattering. Again.
“Who… hurt you?”
The question surprised her so much she halted in her tracks. “Who hurt me?” she asked, more angry than she meant. “Is it that obvious?”
“No, I mean— I just know how you…” he clenched his jaw. “If you need anything—”
“Look, I’m fine, okay? Just stop.”
“I’m only trying to help.”
“There’s nothing you can—” she exhaled, checking herself, then marched past him. “You wouldn’t understand.”
“You think I don’t know?” he snapped, that awful pity morphing into something angry. “You think I don’t understand?”
She whirled on him, daring him to challenge her, matching his sudden anger. But it fizzled out on her tongue when she saw the real pain and hurt in his eyes.
He blinked and looked away, exhaling through his nose, perhaps just as surprised she didn’t fight him right away as she was. Wordlessly he marched on.
It felt good to be angry with Dmitry. It always did. Not because their fights were righteous or cathartic or anything— and they were, she didn’t have to hold back at all, she could tear into him and he could handle it. But it felt good to fight him because he didn’t just roll over onto his back in surrender, he gave as good as he got. He didn’t see her as some weak little frail thing yapping at him. He saw her as an equal. A worthy opponent. Worth the effort.
But he didn’t fight her now, and her disappointment was heavy in her throat, following him back to the inn in bewildered silence. Coward, she wanted to yell. Fight me, dammit. Look at me.
She couldn’t figure out why she cared so much. About how he saw her.
They didn’t say anything else until they arrived back at the inn. There they had no choice but to pretend to be chummy, since Lena literally met them at the door, chirping happily as ever. She said their uncle had a little too much to drink, but they took care of him, brought him up to bed. Anya thanked her thickly so she would just leave them alone.
Upstairs in the hall, Dmitry’s mouth was pressed in a firm, grim line. “What’s wrong?” Anya whispered.
“They put Vlad to bed,” he said again.
“I know. Would you rather him sleep at the bar?”
“They put him to bed,” he repeated. “Your ‘uncle.’”
She still shook her head, lost.
He was impatient, agitated. “So why would they assume I, your husband, would share a bed with your uncle?”
It clicked. Anya’s eyes widened, and somehow Dmitry’s lips got even thinner. Just then they reached the door, and Anya pushed her way inside, hoping that maybe they were jumping to conclusions, maybe Vlad had righted himself, maybe—
Vlad was passed out on the twin bed, dead to the world. The bed where Anya was supposed to sleep.
That hot, itchy feeling expanded in her chest again, back in all its glory, making her need to remove her coat immediately. If it weren’t freezing out she would open the window.
“I’ll just take the floor,” Dmitry whispered.
She whirled on him. “No,” she argued. Of course this would be an argument. Every fucking conversation they had was an argument. She was so tired. “I already ate your dinner.”
“Only half.” He slipped his boots off. Looking everywhere but at her.
“And now I’m only taking half of your bed.” She stood over him while he knelt and fumbled with his shoes. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
He looked grimly over at Vlad’s peaceful form. “Maybe we can wake him up.”
Vlad let out a loud snore just then. How could they take him out of such a peaceful slumber? After all they’d put him through? She held up her hands, irritated. “You first.”
Dmitry did not move to wake Vlad as he suggested. He wasn’t as cold hearted as he pretended to be. He scrubbed his face. “What do we do?”
Anya let out a breath. “It’s only one night,” she heard herself whisper. “It doesn’t have to be a big deal.”
Dmitry looked like he wanted to protest, but all the exhaustion from today was heavy on his face, and it looked like he didn’t have any fight left in him. Neither did she, admittedly.
“I can still take the floor,” he protested meekly. Anya ignored him.
She changed in the bathroom. Dmitry had given her an old pair of pajamas a while back, since the palace had been drafty and cold. “Don’t want you catching your death and we have to start all over again with someone else,” he’d explained when he had pressed the pile of flannel into her hands. They weren’t the nicest set, moth eaten and pilled, but they had kept her warm, and she saw no reason why she shouldn’t wear them tonight. She had to roll up the cuffs of the trousers several times and the button up shirt hung much too loose on her frame, but they did the job. She let the ugly ring slip off her finger and she rubbed her knuckle.
Anxiety flared in her gut again when she came back out into the bedroom. It wasn’t just the prospect of sleeping near Dmitry of all people that was making her nervous, it was the fact that she would be an absolute nightmare to share a room with, let alone a bed. Her dreams would feel so visceral and real she would thrash about with so much violence that whoever was in her path would take the brunt of it. And it would be so embarrassing for Dmitry, of all people, to see her like that.
Again, why did she care? Why did his opinion of her matter so much?
Dmitry was still fumbling with his bag, and even in the dark she could make out the way his henley stretched over his broad back. Another twist in her stomach.
“Which side do you want?” he asked without looking at her.
Did it matter? She pulled the hem of her sleep shirt down further. Perhaps the side closest to the door would be best.
As she settled in under the comforter, Dmitry finally ran out of things to do to look busy, and inevitably crawled into bed next to her. The mattress squeaked and shifted with his weight. She could feel his warmth even from a few inches away. They both quietly stared up at the ceiling, and Anya thought this would be it. She would lay awake like this and pretend to be asleep until dawn.
Vlad let out another loud snort, and maybe it was the exhaustion or the awkwardness, but for some reason Anya had to stifle a laugh. Dmitry grinned over at her.
He rubbed his eyes, trying to keep from laughing, too. “This is so ridiculous,” he grumbled.
Anya joked, just to keep him smiling, “I guess we really are committed to the whole husband and wife thing after all.”
His laugh was just a quiet huff of breath. “It seems so. I’m sorry about all of that, by the way.”
The apology surprised her. “No, it’s fine.”
“You ought to be finding someone who really could put a ring on your finger, not just playing pretend.”
Anya scoffed. “I wouldn’t even know what to do with a man, let alone if I even want all of that.”
The silence was a little too long. “What makes you say that?”
“I don’t know. I just don’t think very many men would want to deal with a girl who can’t even sleep through the night without...” She didn’t need to finish. He heard her screaming in the night by now. Knew there was no use comforting her.
“I bet there’s someone out there that’s up for the task.”
He would be sorry for saying that in the morning, after she inevitably kept him up all night with her thrashing and screaming. No one would have the patience for that when they were this exhausted.
“Even if…” Dmitry was saying, “you don’t see that for yourself— getting married, settling down, I mean— you were pretty convincing tonight.”
She grinned. “I didn’t know I had that in me,” she admitted. “Or where the idea came from.”
“Hunger, probably.” She could hear his smile. A breath. “Would you even want kids?”
Anya pondered it. “I don’t think I’ve even let myself humor the idea,” she answered. “Like, the thought is so far away. I’ve spent so much time worrying if I’m even going to get to eat today. A family feels completely out of the question.”
Dmitry hummed. “But if you did find… peace, I guess. Like if all of your needs were taken care of.”
“I don’t know.” It was hard to fathom. “It depends. I suppose, if the right person came along, it might be a fun adventure.”
“Ugh. You and I have very different definitions of ‘adventure’.”
She smiled. “No kids for you, then?”
“I dunno.” He paused. “I don’t think I’d make a very good dad.”
“Why on earth do you think that?”
He exhaled. “I don’t know. Kids are gross, I never really know what to say to them. And I just know I would fuck it up somehow.” He paused. “But I guess, like you said, if I met the right person… I’d consider it.”
This surprised her. Dmitry was so independent, so ambitious, that she couldn’t picture him choosing to settle down somewhere with a family. The thought almost made her laugh.
Just then Vlad shifted on the adjacent bed, startling them both silent. He was mumbling something in his sleep and Anya held her breath. The conversation paused to ensure Vlad was still sleeping, and when he resumed snoring, Anya exhaled. Dmitry did the same.
Her thoughts strayed to the false gold ring on the nightstand, to the ruse that got them this room. “What do married people even do?” she asked, trying to keep her voice even quieter. “What even is that?”
“I haven’t a clue.”
She made a list in her head. All of this angst had to be for something, right? Maybe that something was having children, as it was for the two characters they were playing tonight, or maybe something even more simple than that. Like not feeling lost or hungry all the time. Knowing someone would be there to pick up the pieces when you fell apart. Not having to pretend. “Live happily ever after, I guess.”
He snorted. “Like that exists.”
“You don’t think so?”
“I don’t know. For you, maybe. But it didn’t save my father. And I doubt it’ll save someone like me.”
He said it nonchalantly but Anya frowned up at the ceiling, her brow hardening. That thing he said earlier tonight— You think I don’t understand?— was still nagging her, but she had no clue how to bring it up without sounding invasive.
“I guess the tax break would be my reason,” he went on, and she could hear his smirk.
She was starting to understand these stupid smirks and irritating jokes only came up when he was hiding something. Hiding something painful.
“Dmitry.” She could hear his smile slip away as the pause lengthened. “What did you mean earlier? When you said… you said you know what that” —she lifted her hands in a vague gesture, because how was she supposed to sum up her experience with men in one sentence?— “was like.”
It took him a minute to answer. “It’s not very honorable.”
“We’re well past that,” she said, fighting a sudden, absurd laugh.
She could hear his swallow. “So, back in Petersburg, I had to… do some things to survive.”
His gravity and vagueness were making her playfully impatient. “Conning wealthy women with your seductive ways?”
He sighed. “It was more like… the other way around.”
Anya didn’t know what to say. “Oh.” Dmitry didn’t offer much more.
The humor and light energy was sucked clean out of the room. She felt terrible for bringing this up. But he was talking, and nothing about him sounded angry or upset or bitter. Just a little sad. But open. Which made her feel safe enough to ask, “Did you at least get some decent money out of it?”
“Sometimes money. Most of the time it was just… a place to sleep.”
She understood that kind of desperation. To do anything not to sleep under a bridge for just one night.
“I was only a teenager when my father died,” he went on. Not defensively, not accusatory. Just. Telling a story. “I didn’t know how to keep up with the rent. When I lost the apartment, I knew going to an orphanage wasn’t an option, and I was still too young for factory work, so roughing it for a couple years was the only way to stay afloat.” He shifted. “There was decent money in street boxing. But I didn’t… have that in me.” No. He did, but he was a very rare man in the sense that he saw no point in smashing in someone else’s face, unless the situation called for it. Like tonight for example. He had a fighter’s heart, but no taste for violence. She couldn’t picture him in those bloody fights without wincing. “And, I mean, I pickpocketed some, stole food when I could. Lasted a couple years like that. But. It was inevitable.”
Dmitry talked about the men and women alike who found him appealing enough to share a bed with for a night. It wasn’t boxing, but. A different sort of violence. A beating of the spirit. He didn’t go into detail. Didn’t need to. And Anya listened. Did Vlad know? Life hasn’t been easy for my young friend. Did he see a boy in need of saving?
That small part of her wondered if Dmitry was just saying all of this to make her feel bad for him, the same way they played that clerk downstairs, but… something about this made her believe every word. And so much about him suddenly made more sense. She got the feeling he didn’t pull back the curtain often, or long enough for anyone to get a good peek, so she figured this was one of very few chances she would get to find more clues to solve the mystery that was Dmitry Sudayev. The ever perplexing man wasn’t so perplexing anymore.
“It wasn’t so bad,” he was saying. “Really. There are worse ways to survive. And I know it’s— it’s not the same as what you’ve been through.”
I know you’re strong, she wanted to say, to echo back to him. That doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt. But she didn’t interrupt.
“But it was never regular. And I only ever did it when I had a bad month, or when a con fell through, stuff like that.” His swallow was thick. “The women and men I was with never hurt me, or anything like that. But…”
She felt an ache in her chest for him. “That’s nothing to be ashamed of, you know.”
“I know. It’s just…”
It’s just it shouldn’t have come to that. Someone should’ve saved him.
“I know what you mean,” she said in the dark. “Not that— I’m not saying I lived through that, exactly, but…”
“I know what you mean,” Dmitry repeated. Soft. Everything about him was soft right now. “It’s taken me a long time to… find my way back.”
“But you’re so…” Anya didn’t know what to call it. Sure of himself? Comfortable in who he was? Confident? Proud? “You… know who you are.”
He loosed a slow breath. “You’re not the only one who’s lost, Anya.”
Her head tilted towards him, just able to make out the outline of his profile in the dark. And then he twitched in her direction and she felt him watching her, too. She looked back up at the ceiling. “The nurses that found me, they called all unknowns— girls who washed up with no past, no parents, and probably no future, I mean— they called all of us the same name. Anya. For documentation purposes.”
“The same way investigators use the name Jane Doe.”
“Right.” She pulled the blankets up to her chin. “But I can’t think of myself with any other name. I don’t remember what it feels like to not be lost.”
Dmitry was quiet, taking that in. “Me too,” he rasped. “Just a couple of strays, you and I.”
The sentiment stirred up an emotion that made her chest ache. Not in a bad way, like her hunger or her loneliness, but… a different ache. A longing of some kind. She didn’t know how to voice this so she just said, “I hope you don’t have fleas.”
His laugh was a surprise, too loud in the dark. They hushed and waited to see if Vlad would wake. He kept snoring. Dmitry sighed through his nose. “I hope you don’t have fleas.”
Anya grinned. There was no malice in the exchange for once, no undertone of something meaner or something with a bite. They were teasing. Something lighthearted. Even though neither of their hearts were light.
It felt good to be angry with Dmitry, to fight him about something. But this, whatever this was, felt better. Like something clicking into place. Something permanent.
Maybe… maybe she didn’t have to be so alone. Maybe neither of them did. Maybe Anya could let him help her when he offered instead of picking herself up. No, Dmitry couldn’t protect her from the nightmares, or the fear that was her oldest companion, but… he could keep her company. He could talk her through a problem. He was doing that now, logicing his way through something abstract and scary with her. Not because he thought she was weak or he pitied her, or because they had to in order to survive, but because he wanted to.
Maybe she could do the same for him.
Dmitry was saying, “I hope Paris lets us in.”
“What, you think they’ll lock the gates or something? Because two orphans are too dirty and smelly for their clean city?”
“That’s exactly what I’m picturing. Drawbridges and two sentries with menacing swords and everything.”
She bit her lip, fighting a laugh. “That’s ridiculous.”
“You’ve never been. You don’t know what it could look like.”
“I think they’re beyond the Middle Ages.”
“We’ll see. I won’t hold my breath.”
Anya rolled her eyes. When he was committed to a joke, he committed all the way, that was for sure. Maybe that was the little gift of the night. Peeling back the layers of how unforgiving his life had been. Showing her the person someone once called Dima, who had hopes and dreams like anyone else. Making her believe that boy was still somewhere inside him.
She let out a breath. “I’m sorry for prying.”
“Don’t be,” he whispered. “I haven’t talked about this with anyone before.”
There was a long pause. “We’re pretty good at keeping secrets for each other,” she finally said, voice soft.
“Yeah,” he rasped. “It feels nice.”
“It does.” She swallowed. It did. It felt really, really nice.
“We’d better get some sleep,” Dmitry said.
“Right,” she whispered. She tucked her arms under the blankets and he rolled onto his stomach, the mattress shifting with him. “Goodnight, Dmitry.”
“Goodnight, Anya.”
Somehow, without her noticing, the anxiety plaguing her had simmered away at some point, leaving only a pleasant hum of nerves. A prickle of sleepy contentment. Instead of worrying about whatever horrors lay ahead in her dreams, or mulling over the uncomfortable events of the night, Anya just focused on the soft sound of his breathing, the comfort of the soft down pillow, the heaviness in her eyelids, and she was able to peacefully fall asleep.
When the inevitable nightmares came, they didn’t last long. In her dream someone was shushing her, telling her she was okay, grounding her. And there was a hand emerging from the dark and pulling at her waist.
When she woke, her face was pressed against warm fabric, something alive and breathing, a heavy arm draped over her side, fingers brushing her back, soft puffs of air in her hair. So. That part of the dream was real, at least. Not the blood or the screams or the voices or the smoke, but this. Dmitry had pulled her close in the night. She felt a flicker of embarrassment that she had thrashed so much and woken him up and hadn’t even remembered it, but then she just. Let herself live in this for a second. The fact that he’d comforted her without complaint or question or impatience. Had managed to gently coax her out of her nightmare.
I bet there’s someone out there that’s up for the task, he had said last night.
Hmm.
Without thinking too deeply into it, Anya nuzzled herself into his chest again, letting the gentle hum of his heart lull her back to sleep.

Danielle marsh the girl everyone wanted to be or be with, The girl next door was made for Danielle her beauty and the way she would light up the room with her laugh or smile the sunshine of everyone life But to me she was the girl i've loved Since year four when I found out i liked girls because of her and has been smitten by her every since.
I could only Admire from afar never getting to close as much as this sounds like a cliche teen movie she was a popular girl everyone loved while you were a loser at least that's what my friends Hyein and Haerin would call me but it was true to extent but would never say that because I would never hear the last of it from them.
The despair of the evening was momentarily forgotten as I recalled the radiant image of Danielle Marsh. She was every bit as magical as the world we now found ourselves in, if not more.
Her laughter was a charm that could light up the gloomiest corridors of Hogwarts, her smile a spell that could cure the deepest melancholy.
Even amidst the looming darkness, my mind wandered back to the mundane world of high school, where I was simply a young girl discovering her preferences, and Danielle was the revelation I'd been smitten with. Despite the hardship of our current predicament, I found solace in the memory of her enchanting presence.
This was my secret haven, my personal Pensieve, where I could retreat and relive those cherished memories.
I had never mustered the courage to tell her about my feelings. It was the fear of rejection, the fear of losing the precious friendship we had, and the fear of changing the dynamics of our tight-knit group.
Yet, the fact that I was hopelessly in love with her was something I couldn't deny. It was an undeniable truth that lingered on my heart like a heavy weight.
'Earth to Y/n ,' Hyein's voice snapped me out of my reverie. 'You've been zoning out a lot. Are you sure you're okay?' She asked, her eyes filled with concern.
I gave her a weak smile, 'I'm fine, Hyein. Just…lost in thoughts.' Ha erin chimed in, her voice soft and gentle. 'You know you can share with us, right? We're here for you, Alex.' 'I know, Haerin.' I replied, my eyes meeting hers. 'And I appreciate you both so much. I'm just…' I paused, searching for the right words.
I'm just trying to figure things out, you know?' Hyein and Haerin exchanged a knowing glance. They'd been with me through thick and thin, and as my best friends, they knew me better than anyone else. They were aware of my feelings for Danielle, even when I hadn't fully acknowledged them myself. But they also knew the torment it was causing me, being in love with someone so out of my reach.
You can't keep bottling everything up, ,' Hyein said, her voice soft yet firm. 'You're allowed to be hurt. You're allowed to feel. You don't always have to put on a brave face.' Her words, while comforting, also carried a pang of truth that struck me harder than I expected. I let out a sigh, nodding in agreement. 'You're right, Hyein.
I've been…I've liked Danielle for years now. I've tried to deny it, to hide it, but…it's there. It's always been there.' My voice cracked as I admitted the truth I'd been running from.
Haerin wrapped an arm around my shoulders, offering a comforting squeeze. 'Y/n it's okay. Your feelings are valid. And who knows, maybe Danielle feels the same way too,' she said, her voice brimming with hope.
I couldn't help but snort. 'Danielle Marsh, liking someone like me? That's the stuff of fairy tales, Haerin.' I muttered, shaking my head.
Yet, as I lay there in the dark, enveloped by the warmth of my friends and the memories of Danielle, a tiny spark of hope ignited within me. Hyein's words echoed in my mind, forcing me to confront the reality I'd been avoiding.
Maybe it is a fairy tale, ,' she said softly, 'But even fairy tales have their happy endings. I didn't want to dwell in the realm of impossibility, in the heartache of unrequited love.
But as I lay there in the darkness, a tiny beacon of hope kindled within me. Maybe, just maybe, Danielle Marsh could love someone like me.
I wiped away the lone tear that had trickled down my face, my fingers gently brushing against the cold, damp stone beneath me. The darkness of the dungeon was oppressive, but it was bearable knowing I wasn't alone. Hyein and Haerin were my pillars, their unwavering support and understanding providing me with much needed strength. Their words seeped into my heart, filling it with a flicker of hope.
Maybe you're right,' I whispered, my voice barely audible in the foreboding silence of the dungeon. 'Maybe fairy tales do have their happy endings. And maybe…just maybe, I might have mine too.' Haerin's hand squeezed mine in a silent show of support while Hyein nodded, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of relief and pride. In their silent acknowledgment, I found a renewed sense of resolve.
The dungeon was suddenly not so oppressive, the darkness not so overwhelming. My heart was still heavy with unexpressed feelings for Danielle, but now, it was also brimming with the possibility of what could be.
I will tell her,' I declared, my voice resolute, echoing in the stone confines of the dungeon. 'After all, we're in a magical world where anything can happen, right?' I added, a small smile creeping onto my lips. Hyein and Haerin both chuckled at my words, their laughter a welcome, comforting sound in the echoing dungeon.
Hyein reached out, ruffling my hair affectionately. 'That's the spirit, she said, her voice full of warmth. 'And remember, we're always here for you, no matter what happens.
' The flicker of hope in my heart blossomed into a small flame. Maybe it was the magic in the air, or maybe it was the unwavering support of my friends, but for the first time in a long time, I felt hopeful. I felt brave. 'You're right, Hyein,' I said, my voice steady, 'I'm not alone. And it's about time I started acting like it.' I didn't know what the future held for me and Danielle, but I knew one thing for certain – I was done hiding.
I was done running from my feelings . And so, with newfound determination, I resolved that once we were back in the mundane world of high school, I would confess my feelings to Danielle Marsh. The very thought of it was terrifying, yet strangely exhilarating. The dungeon, once a place of fear and despair, now felt like a catalyst for change.
I looked at Hyein and Haerin, their eyes gleaming with anticipation and support.
I knew, with them by my side, I could face anything, even the prospect of confessing my love to Danielle. 'So, when we're back in the world of algebra tests and lunchroom drama, you're going to tell her?' Haerin asked, her voice a mix of incredulity and excitement. 'Yes, I am,' I said, my voice sounding stronger than I felt.
'That's the spirit!' Hyein cheered. 'And remember, no matter what happens, you're amazing,
Danielle would be lucky to have you .' Her words were like a balm, soothing my anxiety and bolstering my resolve. 'Thanks, Hyein.' I replied, a genuine smile spreading across my face. It was moments like these that made me realise how fortunate I was to have friends like Hyein and Haerin.
They had an uncanny ability to make me feel better about myself. I felt a sudden surge of gratitude for them. 'You know,' I began, 'I don't say this enough, but you two are the best friends a girl could ask for. I'm so lucky to have you in my life.' Their faces broke into smiles, their eyes shining with emotion. 'We're just as lucky to have you, Y/n ,' Hyein replied, her voice choked with emotion.
Haerin nodded in agreement, squeezing my hand again. As we sat there in the cold dungeon, a warm bond of friendship enveloped us, strengthening our resolve.
We were more than just three girls trapped in a magical world; we were friends, allies, a beacon of hope for each other. Despite the dread that loomed around us, we found comfort in our companionship, our shared experiences, and our unwavering support for one another. 'Alright,' Haerin said after a moment, breaking the silence. 'So, you're going to confess to Danielle when we get back. But what are you going to say?' I blinked, taken aback by the question.
I hadn't thought that far ahead. 'I…I don't know.' I admitted, feeling a small knot of panic forming in my stomach. Hyein laughed softly, shaking her head.
'Classic y/n, always jumping into things head first.' She teased. I rolled my eyes, but couldn't suppress a small smile. Her words were true. I often acted on impulse, my emotions leading the way. 'I think you should just speak from the heart.' Haerin suggested, her voice soft yet firm. 'Tell her how you feel .
Be honest, be true. And remember, no matter what happens, we're here for you.' I nodded, taking in her advice. It felt right, and there was a certain comfort in her words. 'You're right, Haerin. Honesty is the best policy, after all.' I agreed, feeling a newfound sense of determination. 'And thank you, both of you. For everything .
Your support means more to me than you'll ever know.' Their smiles were my reward, their warmth a soothing salve to the nervous fluttering in my stomach. And as we sat in that dungeon, amidst the gloom and the dread, we found a sense of peace. A sense of camaraderie.
A sense of hope. We spent the rest of the evening huddled together, talking about everything and nothing. We reminisced about our mundane high school lives, our shared laughs, and the memories we'd made. We talked about our dreams and fears, our aspirations and challenges.
The conversation flowed freely, each of us sharing parts of ourselves we'd kept hidden. It was during these moments, in the quiet companionship of my best friends, that I finally started to make sense of my emotions. Danielle Marsh, the girl next door, the girl I'd been hopelessly in love with since year four, was no longer an unreachable star.
She was a person, just like me. And maybe, just maybe, she might harbor the same feelings for me as I did for her. As our whispered words filled the dungeon, I felt a sense of belonging. This was where I was supposed to be - not just in this magical world, but also in this very moment, admitting my feelings for Danielle, surrounded by the unwavering support of my friends.
The fear of rejection, the fear of the unknown, it all seemed to dissipate in the presence of their shared bond.
My insecurities were momentarily silenced, replaced with a newfound sense of courage. Perhaps the magic of this world was not only in its spells and enchantments but also in its ability to bring forth the truth. To reveal hidden feelings and unspoken confessions. Hyein and Haerin had always been my rock.
Their constant support and understanding had been my guiding light through the confusing maze of adolescence. But tonight, they were more than just my friends; they were my confidantes, my counselors, my source of courage.
They were the ones who spurred me on to face my feelings and spurred me to think of the possibility of a future, a future where Danielle could be more than just a friend. 'You know, it's funny,' I started, my voice echoing in the silence of the dungeon,
'I've always been afraid of confessing to Danielle. Afraid of the rejection, afraid of changing what we have. But now that I've said it out loud, now that I've shared it with you two… I feel liberated. It's like I've been carrying this heavy secret for so long, and now it's out there, it's not as scary anymore.' Hyein and Haerin exchanged a look, their eyes twinkling with shared understanding.
That's because it's not a secret anymore,' Hyein said, her voice gentle. 'It's your truth. And with your truth comes power.' I blinked at her, processing her words. Power. It was a strange concept to associate with my feelings for Danielle, yet it made sense.
By accepting my feelings, by letting them out into the open, I had somehow reclaimed my power. I was no longer a helpless bystander to my emotions; I was in control. 'And remember,' Haerin added, 'Your feelings are valid, y/n . They're real and they're yours. You don't have to apologize for them, or feel ashamed of them.
They're a part of who you are, and that's beautiful.' Her words struck a chord within me, their sincerity resonating deep within my heart. 'You're right, Haerin,' I replied, my voice steady. 'And I'm ready to embrace them, no matter where they lead me.' I paused, looking at both of them.
Im ready to face Danielle. I'm ready to tell her how I feel.' There was a moment of silence, then Hyein and Haerin both broke into wide smiles, their eyes sparkling with pride and joy. 'We're so proud of you, 'Hyein said, her voice full of emotion. 'We'll be right there with you every step of the way.
And no matter what happens,' Haerin added, her voice firm and reassuring, 'We'll always have your back.' I felt a warmth spread through me, their words solidifying my resolve.
I was ready to take on whatever came next, and it was all thanks to them. The bond we shared transcended friendship; it was a connection forged in the fires of mutual understanding, trust, and respect. It was a connection that could weather any storm, that could face any challenge. It was a connection I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. 'Thank you,' I said, my voice filled with gratitude.
I wouldn't be able to do this without you two.' Their smiles were my reward, the warmth in their eyes a testament to their unwavering support. We sat in silence for a moment, the air around us filled with a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect. Then Hyein spoke up, her voice soft yet determined.
So, let's plan this out, shall we?' The rest of the evening was spent in laughter and serious discussions. We brainstormed ideas, plotted scenarios, and prepared for every possible outcome.
The dungeon, once a place of despair and dread, had transformed into a hub of friendship and determination. The cold, stone walls echoed with our laughter, the air buzzed with anticipation and excitement.
Yet, beneath it all, there was a sense of peace, a sense of rightness. The fear of rejection, the dread of the unknown, it all seemed to fade away in the warmth of our shared bond. As the night deepened and the shadows grew longer, our conversation veered towards topics beyond Danielle and my impending confession.
We spoke about our future, our dreams, and the places we hoped to see once we returned to the mundane world. In that moment, we were more than just students caught in the throes of adolescence; we were explorers charting our course, dreamers envisioning a world of possibilities.
In the midst of our earnest discussions and laughter-filled banter, a peculiar sense of anticipation washed over me . It was almost as if a switch had been flipped, and I was looking at everything with a new perspective.
The uncertainty of the future no longer seemed daunting, but rather, it felt like an exciting mystery waiting to unfold. The impending confession to Danielle, the fear of her reaction, the dread of changing dynamics in our friendship, everything that had seemed so scary before was now tinged with an adventurous thrill.
As the night wore on, we huddled closer, our voices dropping to whispers as we shared secrets and dreams under the dim light of the dungeon. It was in these moments of intimate friendship that I truly felt at home. Here, amidst the cold, hard stones and the echo of our laughter, I found solace.
And it was in this moment, I realized that no matter what would happen with Danielle, I would always have Hyein and Haerin by my side. The darkness of the dungeon was no longer intimidating, but rather, it felt comforting, like a warm, protective blanket. Our shared secrets and dreams seemed to echo off the walls, binding us together in an unbreakable bond of friendship.
Their unwavering support and understanding had given me the courage to face my feelings, to finally confront the truth I had been running from. Looking at the two of them, their faces illuminated by the soft, flickering light of our makeshift lantern, I felt a surge of gratitude. 'You know,' I began, my voice barely above a whisper, 'I may not know what the future holds, but I do know one thing.
No matter what happens, no matter where life takes us, I will always cherish these moments we've shared. The laughter, the tears, the shared secrets, the words of comfort…I'll cherish them all.' Hyein and Haerin looked at me, their eyes reflecting the soft glow of the lantern.
A moment of silence passed before Hyein broke it, her voice gentle in the stillness of the dungeon. 'We feel the same way, Alex. These moments we've shared… they're irreplaceable.
No matter where life takes us, we'll always have these memories.' Haerin nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. 'And no matter what happens, Alex, remember that you're not alone.
We'll always be here for you.' Their words were like a soothing balm, easing the last of my fears. With their unwavering support and camaraderie, I felt ready to face whatever lay ahead.
With a final affirmation of our shared bond and a promise to stand by each other, we finally succumbed to the weariness of the long day
. As I drifted off to sleep, I felt a strange calmness settle over me. My heart was still heavy with the weight of my unexpressed feelings, but now it was also filled with hope and a newfound resolve. The next morning dawned with a sense of promise, the first rays of sunlight filtering through the small window in our dungeon.
The chill of the stone floor was a stark contrast to the warmth of the friendship that had blossomed here. I woke up to the sounds of Hyein and Haerin moving around, their whispered conversations filling the air. 'Morning, Alex,' Hyein greeted me, her voice still heavy with sleep.
'How did you sleep?' 'Good, surprisingly,' I replied, stretching out my stiff muscles. 'You know,' Haerin chimed in, 'I think it was all that talking we did last night. It's like we've released all our pent-up emotions and fears, and now there's a sense of calmness.' I nodded, agreeing with her. It was true. Sharing my deepest feelings and secrets with Hyein and Haerin had lifted a massive weight off my shoulders. I felt lighter, ready to face the challenges ahead.
I also felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for their unwavering support. As I looked at them, their faces glowing in the soft morning light, I found my voice. 'Guys,' I said, my voice echoing in the stillness of the dungeon. 'I want to thank you. For everything. For being here, for listening, for understanding. I…' I paused, swallowing the lump in my throat. 'I couldn't have done this without you.' Hyein looked at me, her eyes soft.
You don't have to thank us, Alex. That's what friends are for. We're here for you, always.' Her words were simple, yet they held a world of meaning. Haerin nodded in agreement, her hand reaching out to squeeze mine.
'We're a team, remember? Through thick and thin, we stick together.' I could barely hold back my tears as I looked at them. My heart was full, brimming with emotions I could hardly put into words. ' 'I know,' I managed to choke out, 'and I'm so grateful for you both.' Their smiles were my reward, their hands reaching out to hold mine in a comforting grip.
And in that moment, amidst the cold stone walls of the dungeon and under the soft morning light, I felt a sense of peace. I felt ready. With Hyein and Haerin by my side, I knew I could face anything. I could confront Danielle, confess my feelings, and face whatever outcome it may bring. As we prepared to face another day in this magical world,
I felt a spark of anticipation.
My confession to Danielle was no longer a looming dread, but an exciting prospect. 'Are you ready for this, y/n?' Hyein asked, her voice steady and reassuring. I drew in a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest. 'I'm ready,' I affirmed, my voice surprisingly steady.
'I'm more than ready.' 'Good,' Haerin said, smiling at me. 'That's the spirit, We're with you, every step of the way.' Their words filled me with a newfound strength, making my resolve unshakeable.
I would confess my feelings to Danielle. No matter the outcome, I was ready to face it.
Throughout the day, amidst the chaos and uncertainty of our magical surroundings, I found my thoughts constantly drifting back to Danielle. Her radiant smile, her infectious laughter, the way she lit up the room with her mere presence.
These were memories I'd cherished for years, and now, I was ready to take a leap of faith. I was ready to confess my feelings, to express the love that had been quietly growing within me since seventh grade. It was a daunting prospect, but with Hyein and Haerin by my side, it felt less terrifying and more thrilling.
We spent the day navigating through the magical world, our minds occupied with the task at hand. But amidst the hustle and bustle, my heart remained steadfast. I'd made my decision, and I was ready to face whatever came my way.
I could feel the anticipation building within me, the prospect of confession growing closer with each passing moment. By the time evening fell, my nerves were frayed, a sense of urgency tugging at my heartstrings. I looked over at Hyein and Haerin, their faces illuminated by the flickering candlelight.
They were both watching me, their expressions a mixture of anticipation and unwavering support. 'Are you sure about this?' Hyein asked, her voice soft. I nodded, feeling a strange sense of calm wash over me. 'I'm sure,' I said, my voice steady. 'It's time.' Haerin reached out, squeezing my hand reassuringly.
'We're here for you, y/n. No matter what happens.' I smiled at them, feeling a surge of gratitude. 'Thank you,' I said, my voice barely above a whisper. 'For everything.' Their smiles were soft, their eyes filled with warmth. 'You don't have to thank us,
Haerin said, her voice gentle. 'We're your friends. We're here for you, no matter what.' Feeling bolstered by their support, I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come. My heart pounded in my chest like a drum, a rhythm of anticipation and fear that echoed in the silence of the dungeon. Yet, with the unwavering support of Hyein and Haerin,
I knew I could face anything. With a final nod at my friends, I stood up, my legs a little shaky but my resolve stronger than ever. Their words of encouragement and the memories of Danielle filled my mind, fueling my courage. 'I'm going to do this,' I announced, my voice echoing in the dungeon. Hyein and Haerin both gave me an encouraging nod.
That's the spirit, y/n ,' Haerin said, her voice brimming with pride. 'We'll be here, waiting for you. You've got this.' I took one more glance at my friends, their faces illuminated with anticipation and encouragement.
It was the final push I needed, the reassurance that no matter what happened, I had them by my side. With a deep breath, I turned and walked towards the dungeon's exit , my heart heavy with anticipation. The cold stone beneath my feet seemed to echo my resolve, each step taking me closer to the moment I'd been dreading and longing for in equal measure.
As I ventured deeper into the labyrinthine halls of Hogwarts, I couldn't help but reflect on the journey that had brought me here. The laughter, the tears, the shared secrets - every moment etched into my heart as vividly as the day they'd happened. The image of Danielle flashed through my mind, her radiant smile lighting up my memories.
My heart fluttered with a mix of nervous anticipation and a strange sense of calm. I was about to bare my soul, to reveal my deepest feelings to the one person who had unknowingly been at the center of them for so long.
As I neared the Great Hall, I could hear the distant murmurs of students, the clinking of cutlery, the occasional bursts of laughter. It was a stark contrast to the silence of the dungeon. With each step, I felt a surge of adrenaline. The once intimidating corridors of Hogwarts now felt like a path leading me towards an inevitable confrontation, one that could either break my heart or bring me immeasurable joy.
As I pushed open the massive doors of the Great Hall, I was struck by the familiar cacophony. The chattering of students, the echoing laughter, the clinking of dishes, all sounds that had once been part of my everyday life now seemed surreal.
I paused at the entrance, my gaze scanning the room. My heart pounded in my chest as I searched for her, the girl who had unknowingly captured my heart years ago. And then, I saw her. Danielle Marsh, seated at the Gryffindor table, her radiant smile lighting up the hall brighter than any spell could. Seeing her there, amidst the sea of students, made my resolve stronger. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come.
The familiar hum of the Great Hall seemed to fade into the background as I made my way towards her. The steady thud of my heart filled my ears, drowning out all other sounds.
My palms were sweaty, my breaths coming out in short puffs. Yet, despite the nervous energy coursing through me, I felt an odd sense of calm. This was it. The moment I had been both dreading and anticipating.
As I neared the Gryffindor table, Danielle looked up, her conversation with the person next to her trailing off as her attention shifted to me. Her eyes met mine, a spark of surprise lighting up her face, quickly replaced with a welcoming smile. 'Hey y/n ,' she greeted, her voice carrying over the noise of the Great Hall.
What brings you here?' Her casual tone, the ease with which she spoke to me, it was a stark contrast to the turmoil inside me. I managed a small smile, my heart pounding in my chest. 'Hey, Danielle,' I replied, my voice surprisingly steady. 'Can we talk?' She looked at me for a moment, surprise flickering in her eyes before nodding and getting up from the table. We walked to a quiet corner of the hall, away from the hustle and bustle.
The silence that followed was deafening, the anticipation weighing heavily in the air. Finally, I broke the silence. 'Danielle,' I began, my voice echoing in the vast expanse of the Great Hall.
'There's something I need to tell you.' Her eyes, usually so bright and lively, were filled with a mixture of curiosity and concern. 'What is it?' she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. I swallowed hard, my throat dry. 'I…' I started, my voice trembling.
I like you .' The words hung in the air like a tangible entity , a secret finally revealed, raw and vulnerable. Danielle's eyes widened in surprise and she stood frozen, her lips parted as if she wanted to say something but didn't know what. The silence that followed was deafening.
I could hear my heart pounding in my chest, each beat echoing loudly in the quiet expanse of the Great Hall. The anticipation was unbearable, the fear of her reaction weighing heavily on my shoulders. Yet, beneath it all, I felt a strange sense of relief, a release of the tension that had been coiled tightly within me for years. The confession was out, my secret laid bare, and it felt cathartic.
Danielle stood there, silent, her eyes wide with surprise. I watched her closely, bracing myself for her reaction.
Would she laugh? Would she scoff? Or worse, would she walk away, leaving me in the wake of my exposed feelings? 'Y/n ..' she finally spoke, her voice barely audible. Her eyes met mine, a myriad of emotions swirling within them. 'I… I didn't know.' The words came out as a whisper, laced with surprise and something else I couldn't quite decipher. I swallowed hard, my heart pounding in my chest. 'I know,' I replied, my voice shaky. 'I've been… I've been trying to hide it, to deny it.
But it's there. It's always been there.' Her gaze held mine, her eyes reflecting a deep sense of understanding. She reached out, her hand lightly touching my arm. 'Y/n ,' she said gently, her voice barely above a whisper, 'I need some time to process this.' A wave of relief washed over me. It wasn't the immediate acceptance I had fantasized about, but it wasn't outright rejection either.
It was a chance, a possibility. 'Of course,' I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
'Take all the time you need, Danielle.' Her nod was barely perceptible, her hand falling away from my arm as she turned to leave.
As I watched her retreating figure, a mix of emotions washed over me. Fear, relief, anticipation… but above all, a sense of liberation. I had finally voiced my feelings, the secret I had harbored for so long was out in the open, and it was a burden lifted off my chest. My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps.
I turned to see Hyein and Haerin approaching, their eyes filled with concern and anticipation. 'How did it go?' Hyein asked, her voice filled with cautious curiosity. I found myself smiling, a sense of calmness washing over me.
I told her,' I replied, my voice steady. 'I confessed my feelings.' There was a moment of silence before Haerin broke it with a beaming smile. 'That's amazing, y/n! We're so proud of you!' I couldn’t help but return her smile. 'Thanks, Haerin.' I said warmly. 'I couldn't have done it without you two.' Hyein nodded, her eyes gleaming with pride. 'No matter the outcome, y/n , remember this moment.
You've faced your fear, bared your heart. That takes courage.' Her words touched me deeply. I looked between the two of them, feeling a surge of gratitude. 'Thank you,' I said sincerely, 'for everything.' We stood there in the grandeur of the Great Hall, basking in the afternoon sunlight streaming through the high windows.
I felt lighter, liberated, with a newfound strength I owed to my best friends. As we left the hall, I could feel the eyes of Danielle on me, and rather than making me nervous, it filled me with a sense of quiet anticipation.
A chapter had ended in my life, and a new one was about to begin. As we made our way through the Hogwarts grounds, the familiar stone paths and towering castle walls took on a new significance. They were no longer just a part of the magical world we found ourselves in, but the backdrop to a pivotal moment in my life. 'Come on, Y/n .
Let's take a walk by the lake,' Hyein suggested, her voice steady and comforting as she guided me towards the sparkling body of water that lay nestled within the Hogwarts grounds.
We walked in silence, our footsteps in sync with each other and the gentle lapping of the lake water.
The afternoon sun cast long shadows behind us, hinting at the passage of time and the changes it brought. The Hogwarts castle stood tall and majestic in the distance, an emblem of the magical world we had been thrust into.
A world that had changed us in more ways than we could have ever imagined. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with the crisp, fresh air. The scent of the lake, the earthy aroma of the grass under our feet, the faint fragrance of wildflowers wafting in the breeze - it was a sensory experience that grounded me.
Reminding me of the tangible reality of our situation. Yet, it was the intangible emotions, the whirlwind of feelings that had come to the forefront today, that held my attention.
You did good today, ' Haerin's voice broke through my thoughts, her words carrying a note of pride. 'It takes a lot of courage to be honest about your feelings. To be vulnerable. And you did that.'
I looked at her, appreciating the sincerity in her words. 'Thank you, Haerin,' I responded, my voice soft. 'It was…it was difficult. But I'm glad I did it.' 'And we're proud of you, y/n ,' Hyein chimed in, her voice firm yet gentle. 'No matter the outcome, you faced your fear. You confessed your feelings.
That's something to be proud of.' I smiled at her, my heart swelling with gratitude for her supportive words. 'You guys have no idea how much your support means to me.
I couldn't have done it without you.' Their smiles were my reward, their eyes shining with pride and camaraderie.
'We're always here for you, ' Hyein affirmed, squeezing my hand comfortingly. 'You're not alone in this remember that .' The rest of the afternoon was spent in quiet companions

Okay, so you know “Justice League meets Batman’s kids, who they’d previously been unaware existed” AUs?
So picture that.....but this time, instead of them just having no knowledge of any of these other Gotham vigilantes at all....the Batkids all migrate to various cities as they get older and become known as their protectors - Dick in Bludhaven, Tim in San Francisco, Cass in Hong Kong, etc....
Meaning they’re all established figures, the Justice League are aware of them as solo local heroes who stick to their cities and so they just don’t interact with them much if at all, or else some are members of team lineups but are particularly vague about their histories or life outside of the team’s adventures....
So the big reveal isn’t that they become aware of all these other Gotham vigilantes all at once....its that some big conflict or whatever requires a huge team up of all available heroes, and in the aftermath, they figure out that like.....despite being known as solo heroes who work alone or loners outside of their team settings, 80% of these heroes all not only seem to already know each other, they seem to be related.
And so naturally they all turn to Batman, who has profiles on every known hero and they thus figure had researched these individuals too and just never mentioned this little detail, and they’re like, “Did you know about this?”
And then Nightwing turns to him too, arms crossed and is like, “Yeah Dad, did you know about this?”
And the infamous Red Hood is all: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have never met any of these people before in my life. Lives? Whatever.”
And then Red Robin moodily grates out “I have no siblings.” Since he’s nursing a grudge since Dick and Jason broke into his apartment the night before and replaced all his custom Red Robin gear with Darkwing Duck merchandise and his vengeance will be swift and also totally disproportionate because things escalate quickly in this family, that’s true in every universe.
Cass meanwhile has deftly skewered Jason’s lie by walking over to him and brazenly patting down the man with many many guns with no fear whatsoever. He squawks and futilely attempts to bat her hands away as she riffles through his many pockets, but he doesn’t seem shocked, just annoyed. Eventually, she pulls away and triumphantly reveals a box of Hello Kitty themed band-aids.
“So these are yours then? Just for you?” Black Bat asks smugly. Red Hood squints at the box.
“What the fuck? How long have those been in my jacket? Why are those in my jacket? Did you freaking plant them in my jacket just on the offchance you could at some point in the distant future use them at my expense?”
Black Bat frowns, puzzled. “Yes?”
“Oh come on, Dead Hood,” Spoiler says with an exaggerated toss of her head meant to convey she’s rolling her eyes beneath her own mask. She skips her way across the room to Black Bat and then drapes herself languidly all over the smaller woman. Who in turn doesn’t so much as twitch beneath the sudden added mass as Spoiler holds out her hand towards the box of band-aids.
“One please. I have a boo-boo,” she says with easy familiarity straight into the intimidating cowl of Black Bat. Only then does she deign to finish her train of thought with Red Hood.
“I mean seriously, are you saying you don’t have potential blackmail set-ups, pre-rigged releases of incriminating material, and a random assortment of traps, pratfalls and mortifying scenarios in place for the express purpose of being able to humiliate any and all of your siblings at any given moment, without any need for additional prep time?”
“Is this true, Little Wing?” Nightwing whirls on the larger Red Hood with a faux-scandalized gasp. The founder and leader of the Titans, formerly the Teen Titans, renowned for his stratagems and calm competence when directing squads of supers in the heat of battle while he keeps pace with nothing more than naturally acquired acrobatics and a utility belt that apparently uses the same technology as Wonder Woman’s invisible jet....now appears to be....staggering with the back of his hand pressed to his forehead, moaning about how he felt....faint?
What is happening right now, several dozen superheroes want to know. Is this a drill? Are they supposed to be checking for signs of a mental ambush from undetected psychic saboteurs? Did they all hit their heads at the exact same time and are now experiencing some kind of shared mass concussion?
Look, that wouldn’t be the weirdest thing to ever happen on the Watchtower.
“Have I failed you so utterly?” The veteran child hero bemoans with a dramatic twirl - that when contrasted with his stern demeanor of a mere ten minutes ago - makes the fears of telepathic infiltration seem less paranoia and more....concerningly probable. “Did you learn nothing from me? Did you learn nothing from B?”
He stops and jabs a finger up at the sky. “Quick, everyone! What is the very first rule of Living While Batty?”
As if by rote, over a half a dozen voices chime in from all over the room, causing various heroes to jump. Spooked by yet more and more vigilantes joining in some kind of mass recitation like they and they alone have some kind of clue what the hell is going on and everyone else just hadn’t been invited to the party. Which is just rude, honestly. Nobody likes feeling like they weren’t invited to the party. Not even superheroes.
“If you’re not going to bother preparing for every possible contingency and at least six impossible ones, you might as well just stay in bed.”
Even the Red Hood joins in the Illuminati chant or Cub Scout pledge or demonic ritual or whatever the fuck that just was, though his slumped and exasperated posture gives away every hint of sulkiness his headgear otherwise would have kept safely hidden. He’s surprisingly more...expressive, than most who’d only known of him by reputation had expected him to be. The day continues to yield surprises.
“Of fucking course I do,” he growls out, snatching the box from Black Bat. She doesn’t even fight to hold onto it, just lets it go with a knowing smirk. “I wasn’t surprised by the idea of it, I was just surprised she bothered with such a weak effort. Like yeah whatever, actually those could be mine. I use those all the time at home. So what?”
He aggressively yanks one of the band-aids out of the box, fumbles with the peel-off strips with one hand and he roughly rolls up the sleeve of his jacket with the other. Then just slaps it on his forearm and raises said appendage high, showing it off this way and that. “See?”
“Oh yeah, for sure,” Signal drawls from the other side of the room, nodding his head approvingly. “Totally convincing. Nice job walking that one back, you really showed them.”
Red Hood’s head snaps in his direction with ominous intent. “Watch it, Day-Glo.”
Signal just snorts.
“Yeah, like I’m gonna take constructive criticism on my name and costume from a dude who’s spent the last several years calling himself Red HOOD while running around in a freaking HELMET.”
“Its not meant to be literal, you fucking pedant.”
“So wait, its not literally a helmet? Huh, does it at least protect your head literally, or just like...symbolically? Like if Bane were to clock you across the head, would your concussion just be a metaphor? What’s the treatment protocol for a metaphorical concussion? Fluids, bedrest and a philosophical prescription of two chapters of Chicken Soup for the Soul as needed?”
“Laugh it up, KC and the Sunshine Band,” Red Hood bats back. “You just got yourself disinvited from Thursday night’s poker game.”
Signal just grins and folds his arms over his chest cockily. “Please. You’ve been looking for an excuse to ban me for weeks, cuz you know until you can prove I’m using my ghost vision to cheat, you can’t actually bring suit against me for it in Family Court.”
“That, and also Family Court isn’t a real thing, you toddler. Stop validating Wing-a-ding-ding’s obsession with Shitty TV Nostalgia and just call it that thing where Oracle traps us all in a room until we settle our latest fight without anyone getting stabbed.”
“Yeah, but like, say that five times fast,” Spoiler pipes up. “Its just not practical. Family Court’s way easier.”
“Says the one who’s not even in our fucking family.”
“And yet I grace you all with my sublime presence anyway,” she blows a kiss at him, beatifically unbothered. “You’re welcome.”
The Red Hood scoffs and rounds on his heel, zeroing in on Batwoman in the far corner.
“Hey Auntie B, my siblings are all dead to me and I just helped stop an alien invasion so I deserve nice things like a fun Saturday night. Can you get me into Dad’s fundraiser so I can crash it? He won’t put me back on the list until I promise not to bring any C-4 with me and I won’t promise not to bring any C-4 because he should just trust me that I won’t when I say I’m not gonna and he won’t trust me that I won’t until I admit I shouldn’t have brought any to that sting last month where three tiny little yachts blew up through barely any fault of my own, and I’m just not gonna do that ever because I have convictions and I feel I shouldn’t have to be punished for that. Y’know?”
Batwoman blinks at him. “Kid, I’m not gonna lie to you. You’re my nephew and I love you, but I stopped listening three seconds into all that.”
“Ugh, fine. Can you help me crash Dad’s event tonight so I can teach him a lesson about why he should just trust me not to make a scene so I don’t have to always make a scene to make a point.”
“Tempting as you make that sound,” she says wryly, “I have a strict policy for dealing with you lot and your......everything. I only worry about tolerating one of you at a time, and there’s seven of you, and seven days in the week. You each get your own. You know perfectly well its Robin’s day today. You get me on Tuesday, just like always.”
“Auntie B, we’re not like other families, are we?” Red Robin’s delivery is sarcastically childish and his question clearly rhetorical. Most of his attention is fixated on whatever it is he’s doing with his wrist-mounted computer.
“No sweetie, we’re all severely fucked in the head and a little bit too comfortable with that.”
“Just checking. Oh hey, Hood, I just emailed you a patch for the hole in your firewall I exploited when replacing all my shit using your accounts just now.”
“You did what?”
“Used your accounts to pay to replace all my stuff that you fucked with last night?” Red Robin says slowly. “Did you not realize that I’ve been sticking within ten feet of you for the past five minutes just so I could clone your devices and do all that while BB and Spoiler kept you distracted? I gotta say, bro, I feel like that’s on you then.”
Red Hood swivels his helmeted head in the direction of the aforementioned two. Black Bat waves. Spoiler shoots him an utterly unrepentant thumbs up.
“You’d side with your ex over me? That’s what its come to?”
“My only allegiance is to chaos,” Spoiler says brightly. Black Bat shrugs.
“Plus he bribes better.”
“Hateful,” Red Hood points at Black Bat, moving on to level the same finger at Spoiler, who curtsies in acknowledgment: “Hateful-er.”
Then the finger rounds the bases to aim judgmentally at Red Robin. “Hateful-est. And that was all Nightwing’s idea anyway, not mine.”
“Oh, I assumed as much,” he says casually. “Your idea of a prank tends to have more of a Carrie vibe. Or be a literal literary reenactment.”
“Its called an homage, 4chan.”
“Whatever, plagiarist. And anyway, I couldn’t go after ‘Wing for payback on this one. He used an Immunity card. If you didn’t want me getting back at you, you should have used one too."
Red Hood looms aggressively. Red Robin ignores willfully. Round and round they go. Superheroes who can survive excessive G-Forces are getting dizzy just watching them have a largely motionless stand-off. That shouldn’t be how that works, but whatever. All the most infamously reclusive and isolated heroes in all hero-dom are apparently part of the same one big reclusive and isolated family of fucked up weirdos and they’re all officially bonkers. Nothing makes sense anymore. Reality broke. Try another stall.
“Okay, but see, in order to have an Immunity card, I would have to participate in one of you losers’ stupid Immunity challenges,” the Red Hood drags out with exaggerated patience. “And I’m just not going to do that, on account of those all being fucking stupid. You see the problem there?”
Red Robin just shrugs. “I don’t know what to tell you, bro. You can have principles or you can have an Immunity card. You can’t have both.”
Meanwhile, on another side of....the same room.....look, its like, an octagonal room, probably. It has a lot of sides. Robin fends off questions from an aggrieved looking Superboy.
“You never told me you had a bajillion brothers and sisters!”
“Yes but I never said I didn’t either.”
Superboy rolls his eyes. “Oh yeah, so I should just assume everyone I meet has a bajillion secret brothers and sisters?”
“Well clearly it would have worked out in your favor in this instance if you had, now wouldn’t it?”
“Assuming of course that you can trust what has been said or implied here today and I am actually related to any of those numbskulls. Which I am not actually admitting to,” Robin tacks on hastily.
Superboy eyes him dubiously. “You joined in the same creepy chant all the others did and then got super self-conscious and looked around to see if anyone had noticed. Which uh. I did.”
“First off, your interpretation of body language is abyssmal. I do not get self-conscious,” Robin says with a delivery that probably could have benefited from being a little less self-conscious. “And second....that proves nothing. I guessed what they were going to say.”
“Word for word,” Superboy says super-skeptically.
“I’m very good at guessing things. You know this.”
“Okay. Guess how much I believe you right now then.”
Robin glares and folds his arms grumpily across his chest.
“And what was that anyway? Was that like....you guys’ family motto or something like that?”
“Oh no,” Spoiler pipes up. “That’s much shorter.”
Superboy balks at that. “Wait, you guys actually have one of those for real?”
“Yup,” Steph says, counting out the words with her fingers. “He who laughs last....probably works for the Joker. So tranq him just to be safe. See? Only sixteen words. The first rule of Living While Batty is way longer, and what we said was just the abridged version. You should hear the original, before Black Bat put her foot down and refused to memorize it unless sizable edits were made.”
Superboy hovers between her and Robin now, both in mid-air and on the verge of taking Spoiler’s words as an invitation to hear just that. A low growl arises from Robin’s direction.
“Must you?” He asks the older vigilante, with a most put upon expression.
She looks at him pityingly. “Do you actually need me to answer that? Like, we’ve met, right? Hi, I’m Spoiler.”
“Wait, so Robin said that I just never specifically asked him if he had a bajillion brothers and sisters, and that’s why he didn’t tell me, so that means he wouldn’t have just lied and there’s not some code of secrecy that flat out forbids telling other people stuff, right?” Superboy realizes excitedly.
“Yes, excellent direction. Go on,” Spoiler says, steepling her fingers. Robin buries his face in the palm of one hand.
“Soooo, what other stuff could you tell me about Robin’s super top secret family that I wouldn’t think to ask about but that he would tell me about if I knew what questions to ask?”
She claps once, lightly but with emphasis. “Well done. You’ve passed the first barrier. Untold secrets await you behind just a few more.”
“I’ll get you for this,” Robin vows calmly. She waves a hand at him.
“Yeah, yeah. Just make sure you do it before January 1st, remember? You’ve promised retribution like ten times already this year and those don’t roll over, y’know. Rules are rules.”
“Enough!” Thunders a voice then, from the front of the room. Well one of the fronts anyway. Like sides, it has a lot of them, but this is the one where Batman’s standing. All eyes snap to him. Which is kinda just what eyes do when Batman says stuff like that. Its like his superpower, except he doesn’t actually have superpowers, which is what makes it scary. But where the snapping of the eyes (directional) is usually followed by Batman saying something else besides just “hey look at me,” here he pauses in the wake of his own call to attention’s waning reverberations. Uncharacteristically silent.
Not that, y’know, he’s normally Mr. Talkity Talk, but usually his silences feel like he has the words to fill them, he’s just withholding them. This though, this feels more like he doesn’t have any words at all. And he’s as confused by it as any of them, and most everyone else is confused by Batman being confused, and its this whole trickle down economy of confusion and its wrecking havoc on the value of the golden silence standard.
Of course, not everyone present is rendered spellbound with confusion.
“C’mon B,” Nightwing cajoles, leaning forward and practically radiating delight. “I think you know what you have to do now. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Its not likely to come around again.”
Red Hood snickers beneath his helmet and chimes in. “Yeah Pops, go ahead. You do this and you’ll actually have my respect for a whole twenty four hours. No, wait. Sixteen. No! Eight. Yeah, eight. Still a good deal.”
“Carpe diem, B,” Red Robin grins, leaning back as if to enjoy the show.
“Hey! Infringe on my trademark one more time, dude,” Signal throws a faux-glare at the former. Red Robin just quirks an eyebrow.
“And what, you’ll start saying Yum every time you eat a burger? Oh no. I’m hoist by my own petard.”
Signal flips him off with a grin and then redirects his attention back to Batman. “Yeah seriously though B, you kinda gotta do it now. Because if you don’t do it, then you’ll forever be the guy who didn’t do it, and you don’t want to be that guy, do you?”
“Yeah you really don’t want to be that guy,” Spoiler shouts out. “Nobody likes that guy. He’s the worst.”
“Do it, do it,” Black Bat starts chanting beside her, steadily picking up speed and volume. Several others start joining in. Even Robin appears to be slightly anticipatory, albeit trying very hard to hide it.
Batman sighs, and somehow everyone manages to hear it. Stills. Waits for....something? Nobody but them seems to have any clue what, but the air is thick and heavy with portentiousness. Something is about to happen, and all most of the heroes present could say for sure is it was something they never would have in a million years seen coming.
Finally, Batman straightens with the resigned air of a man about to have oh so many regrets. He crosses his arms, shakes his head, and in an absolute deadpan monotone, says:
“You are awful children. You know you’re killing me. You’re killing your father.”

peaches & cream || soft!dark Jake Wyler x reader
for @stargazingfangirl18's 5k challenge! I used the prompt, "the town golden boy isn’t as sweet as everyone thinks."
word count: 3.6k
warnings: smut (noncon), stalking/obsession, some degradation/negging (but lots of praise during the actual smut), kinda yandere vibes?, touch of breeding kink at the end, definitely flirting with the boundary between soft!dark and regular dark but I like to think it’s a fine line
Tumblr media
“Sorry, but that’s a seasonal flavor,” the girl at the counter explained in a snarky monotone.
“Well, yeah, but isn’t it still… the season?” you pressed; normally you weren’t the sort of person to argue with a cashier over a milkshake, but the look she was giving you made you feel like she was holding out on you— especially when the promotional poster for the very thing you were trying to order was just behind her head, and said the flavor was available for two more days.
“We’re out,” she answered firmly, but then her face suddenly shifted to a much more pleasant expression as you heard the chime of the front door opening behind you.
You felt his body hovering behind yours just as his hand laid on the counter beside you, caging you in.  It was even more unsettling with the context that there was a whole line of people waiting behind you already.
“I’ll get your usual,” the girl promised to the man beside with a flirtatious smile as she disappeared to the back, returning almost instantly with a shake in her extended hand.  “Peaches and cream milkshake— extra whipped cream, no cherry.  Enjoy!”
Your eyes widened at the reading of your own order.  “I thought you were out!” you protested, going completely ignored.
"If you were my girl, this sort of thing wouldn't need to happen."
You recoiled from Jake's voice in your ear, and he smiled in spite of your snarl, bringing the straw to his lips slowly.  With a shudder you walked away, deciding it was probably better to forgo a milkshake anyways— especially if it was a chance to avoid everyone’s favorite senior, the football king who basically owned the whole town for no other reason than being good-looking, athletic, and allegedly “charming” or whatever.
Of course, he followed you, sitting across from you in a booth and silently shooing his posse of fellow teammates to go off and give you two some space.  If only he would give you space.
“We can share,” he offered as he held the milkshake out towards you.  “I know it’s your favorite… it’s mine too.”
“I’ve lost my appetite,” you explained quickly as you pulled a book out of your backpack, intent on ignoring him since you couldn’t physically force him to leave.
He shrugged and returned to sucking on the straw, watching you unwaveringly as you tried to read your book— staring at the page was going well, but you couldn’t seem to actually get any words down.  Had you forgotten English as a written language or something?
“Could you leave?” you finally asked as you groaned and looked up from your book.  “You’re distracting me.”
“I’m literally just sitting here,” he reminded you.
“And it’s distracting!”
He smirked proudly.  “My presence tends to have that effect on people.  Nothing to be embarrassed about.”
You rolled your eyes, burying your face back in your book.  “You know, you may have everybody else fooled, but someday you’re gonna have to leave this pathetic little town and go into the real world where throwing a ball isn’t a career and nobody fawns over you just because you have the audacity to be attractive.”
He chuckled lightly.  “Right, because you have those big city dreams of yours, but believe it or not some of us like this ‘pathetic’ little town.”
“Well, of course you would,” you snorted.  “Your dad’s the mayor and your girlfriend’s the head cheerleader.”
“My ex-girlfriend,” he corrected, finally getting your attention enough to make you shut your book.
“What?” you blurted out.
“Yeah, she dumped me,” he explained plainly.
“Why would she do that?” you asked, making him look much too proud of himself again.  “Finally snapped out of the brainwashing, huh?” you added, effectively killing his smug expression.
“I guess you could say that.  She met some college guy from out of town… I think her parents liked me too much, she needed a bit more rebellion.”
“Well, my condolences to you,” you smiled, “and my congratulations to her.”
“I thought you hated her,” he scoffed.
“Well, now she and I have something in common: a complete lack of interest in you!”
“I mean, I wouldn’t go that far,” he smirked, “she still comes over every now and again to suck my cock.”
You choked on nothing, face getting warm at his crude language.  He didn’t talk like that with anyone else; it was so cruel the way he kept everybody in town under his spell except you, the way he let you in on his real darkness with no one else to confide in or believe you.
It was so fundamentally lonely, being the one person who wasn’t in love with Jake Wyler.  It was even worse being the one person Jake Wyler loved.
At least, that was the word he used multiple times in his semi-anonymous letters, his incessant calls and emails, his speeches outside your window.  He’d actually cooled off lately, you wondered if maybe he had finally let go of this ‘the one thing I can’t have’ obsession and learned to appreciate his girlfriend (who, for all her personality flaws, was objectively gorgeous, and seemed to at least be nice to him if nobody else).
But now that she left him (which you were still trying to process, honestly), you were surprised he hadn’t already moved on to the next best wannabe model and/or reinstated his campaign to win you over.
Then again, the look in his eye kind of made you think you were about to witness the second one.
“You know, when she does come over, I can only ever finish because I’m thinking about you,” he revealed in a low voice.  You grimaced and slid out of the booth, stuffing your book into your bag and barely managing to throw him a goodbye before you dashed out.
It wasn’t like you really thought you could get away from him— he had made it clear over and over that you couldn’t— but the idea of being crammed in that booth with him, surrounded throughout the diner by his adoring fans who somehow didn’t manage to overhear him when he said those awful things, made you feel nauseous.
What you should’ve considered was that, fans or not, those people were witnesses, and now that you were running out into the dark streets of the town and he was chasing after you, you didn’t have any.  It was just you and him, and when you turned into an alleyway to try to get home faster, even the dim glow of the streetlights couldn’t see you anymore.
“Hey,” he stopped you with a tight grip on your arm, pulling you back into him.
“Let me go!” you whined, trying to tug yourself away but only ensuring that his hand would leave a bruise on your arm.
“I will when you just hear me out, okay?” he hissed, spinning you around to look up at him. "Why don't you just give me a chance?  Don't you wanna be popular?"
"I don't want to be anything that requires being within ten yards of you!" you spat.
He seemed bewildered, but you knew he wasn’t actually that stupid.  "Why?"
"Because you know why!"
He sighed, slumping his shoulders a little.  "Are we still on that, really?  I told you, you should take it as a compliment.  You know how many girls would kill to catch me jerking off in their panties?"
"You're sick, Jake,” you sighed, “and you're really good at hiding it from everyone else but I know what you really are.  You told me you needed help with algebra and I actually believed you, for months you were lying to me to get close so you could perv on me when you already had a girlfriend and two side chicks anyways— god, Jake, you're crazy!"
You yelped when he pinned you to the wall, blue eyes darker than ever.  "I really, really hate that word."
Against the wall, your back straightened as you felt the tone shift completely for a moment before he was back to his jovial self again, giving you a somber but almost-genuine smile.
“The only kind of crazy I am is crazy about you,” he defended with a laugh, leaning in a little closer.  “Why can’t you see that?”
As his eyes moved from your own to your lips, a renewed sense of fear shot through you.  “Jake…” you mumbled, apparently your feeble attempt to ask him to stop.
“Just one kiss,” he bargained, “and then I’ll let you go.  Okay?  That’s all I need.”
“N-no,” you whimpered, turning your head away as he leaned in even further.  “Stop.”
“Come on, it’s just a kiss, baby,” he cooed.  “Then you can leave.  Hey, you might actually like it.  You know, I think that’s what you’re really scared about… and I get it!  When I first realized I was in love with you, it was scary for me, too— I mean, I’m the most important guy in town and you’re just some bookworm, it’s sort of social suicide for me so I had a lot to worry about.”
There he went with his negging again, trying to bring you down to his level.  Your brain knew that, it saw right through it, but your gut still sank with doubt.
“But I know now that love is nothing to be afraid of,” he concluded.
“No, Jake,” you whispered, feeling tears well in your eyes, “I’m afraid that you’ll hurt me if I don’t do what you want.”
“Well, that is something to be afraid of,” he replied with the coldest laugh you’d ever heard; you didn’t hear any agreement, but the lack of denial was deafening.  “So just be my good girl and let me kiss you…”
You swallowed dryly, your eyes wide open and searching for anywhere to look but up at him.
He was so close now that his lips brushed against yours with his command: “say it.”
You stammered over your breath, not sure exactly what he was asking for, and you winced as you felt his grip tighten on your arms.
“Say, ‘kiss me’,” he clarified in a harsh whisper.  “Say, ‘please’...”
“Please,” you repeated awkwardly, hearing it in your voice but so clearly not your own words, “kiss me.”
He let his mouth intertwine with yours and your eyes were still wide open as he let his own fall shut, moving his hands to clutch your face gently instead as you gave a weak effort to kiss him back.
Objectively, he was good at this.  A lot of things were objectively true about Jake: as much as you forced yourself not to see it, he was handsome; as much as it didn’t really matter to you, a boycotter of all things sports, he was talented; and, as much as no one else realized it, he was completely deranged.  For every word of kindness from him there was another of anger.  For every love letter in your locker, there was a threat left scrawled on crumpled paper inside your bedroom, just so he could remind you that your parents would let him into the house if he asked and never question it.
Which was why it was extremely important that you did not enjoy this kiss.  You needed to hate the way his fingers traced over the pulse in your neck, the way his tongue tickled yours, the way his teeth just barely grazed your lip until your knees went a little weak.
But wow, there was something primally satisfying about melting into his arms, feeling his strength support you like it was nothing when he held your waist and pulled you closer.
You could almost forget that it was him.  But then he mumbled your name into the kiss, nearly moaned it in fact, and it pulled you back to reality.  With a gasp, you pushed him away and blinked your eyes open, not even realizing you’d closed them; hating how quickly you’d started to give in to him.
“There, one kiss,” you mumbled, wiping your mouth with the back of your sleeve.  “I’m gonna go home now—”
“You can’t be serious,” he laughed incredulously.  “You’re gonna kiss me like that and tell me you don’t feel this, too?  We’re so meant for each other— we even order the same milkshake!”
“That doesn’t matter!” you denied.
“I love you!”
“That doesn’t matter either!”
You turned to leave but he grabbed you again from behind, covering your mouth with his hand when you opened your mouth to scream.  “Don’t fucking talk to me like that,” he hissed in your ear, “and don’t walk away from me.”
Fighting against his grip did nothing but exhaust you: he only needed one arm to hold you back as he dragged you deeper into the alley.  Your legs swung wildly and landed a kick to his shin, and he plugged your nose while he was covering your mouth so you couldn’t breathe.
“Listen to me, you stuck up little bitch,” he growled.  “I’m really sick of this ‘hard to get’ act.  I know you want me.  So shut up and let me show you what you’ve been missing out on, okay?  You gonna be good?”
In that moment, you would’ve agreed to anything for a chance to fill your lungs with fresh air, and so you nodded, the back of your head rubbing against his chest.
“You gonna be nice and quiet so nobody catches you getting fucked like a whore in this alley?”
Another nod, more feverish than the last, ended with a sharp inhale as he let go of your nose.  But he was still covering your mouth, his arm around you now feeling less like restraint and more like an embrace.
"I've wanted you for so long, you can't even imagine," he explained softly as he leaned down and kissed your neck, gripping your waist tighter.  "You and this perfect body of yours.  This smart little head that thinks too much…"
You swallowed dryly as his hand trailed lower.
"This pussy you've been hiding from me for much too long," he added darkly, roughly shoving his hand up your skirt.
You whined behind his hand but he didn’t seem to care; he pulled your skirt up and grinned at the sight of your panties— because he recognized them.
“I remember these,” he purred.  “They look good on you, baby, but they looked better covered in my come.”
Your cheeks burned with shame— you already hated yourself for still wearing the pair he’d tampered with, but it was harmless after a few runs through the washer, right?  You weren’t going to stop wearing your favorite panties just for him, that would mean he won, in a sense; or, that’s what you told yourself to justify not burning them.
“Don’t worry, they’re gonna be soaked by the time I’m done with you,” he purred, slipping two fingers between your legs and growling slightly.  “Well, actually, you’ve already done a lot of the work for me.”
He pulled the fabric aside and explored your pussy instead, tightening his grip over your mouth as you made little muffled yelps.  The rough pads of his fingers found and targeted your clit instantly, that megawatt smile pressed against your ear as he started to rub your bud harder.
“Mm, feels good, huh?” he taunted, moving even faster as your hips jolted unintentionally.  He stopped only to bring the fingers to his lips, humming at the taste of you which he sucked off of them.  “So sweet, babygirl— better than any peaches and cream milkshake, that’s for sure.”
The wet fingers trailed down your body again, finding your entrance that he suddenly pushed into; it was a little too much without any warning and it made your eyes shoot wide open, a squeak barely escaping your throat.
"Just as tight as I imagined, baby,” he sighed, “all those times I used your panties, or hooked up with somebody who almost looked like you from behind.  You’re gonna feel so good on my cock, I know you want it so bad.”
He took his fingers out of you to reach back and open his belt with one hand, the sound of the buckle matched in upsettingness only by the sound of his jeans sliding down to his thighs.
You heard your own breath loud and heavy against his hand as you felt his hard cock press against your thigh, a drop of precum smearing on your skin.  Your breathing halted suddenly, though, when he slid himself between your legs to rub his cock over your exposed and swollen pussy.
“Oh, babygirl, you really are too good to me,” he grinned, kissing your ear tenderly.  “So fucking wet and ready for me, huh?  You need it that bad?  You’re gonna get it, baby, ‘m gonna give it to you so good…”
Bracing yourself as best you could, you felt the head of his cock push against your entrance before he slammed in all at once, making you hiss in pain.
“Oh god,” he groaned, “fuck, you’re so warm…”
Already he was fucking into you roughly, pumping faster and deeper, paying no mind to your choked sobs of pain from the wide stretch.  Even when it stung it felt oddly good, and the underside of his cock seemed to slide perfectly over your g-spot with each movement until your eyes began to roll back in your head.
“So fucking good,” he moaned hoarsely as he braced you against the brick wall for leverage, reaching back down with his free hand to rub your clit again.  He chuckled when your legs quivered, and he must have felt your walls tighten around him, too.  “I wanna hear those pretty moans, baby, if I take my hand away are you gonna be good?” he asked darkly.  You nodded, enjoying the brief feeling of freedom that came from not having his hand over your mouth anymore.  But then again, it was humiliating that now he could hear your panting breaths, your desperate mewls that you failed to swallow down.
He made a sound that was almost like a laugh as he watched you squirm in his arms, one more way he had to lord this all over you, as if forcing you to take him in an alley wasn’t enough on its own.
His breath against your ear was hot and strained, each meeting of your hips to his accentuated with a little grunt from him.  It didn’t help at all that his fingers were rubbing you just right, with so much skill that you wondered if he’d somehow figured out how you touched yourself when you needed to get off.  Honestly, you wouldn’t put it past him to have spied on you before, even if you couldn’t figure out when or how.
The hand that used to cover your mouth slid up under your shirt and pulled your bra down, a large, rough hand groping each breast and pinching your nipples until you bit down on your lip to stay quiet.  For all the mocking and teasing he’d done before, he was pretty direct now— like he was trying to make you come as fast as possible, overloading your body with sensation.
And did he have to be so fucking good at it?
“I know you’re close, babygirl,” he whispered in your ear, “just let go…”
“Jake, please,” you sobbed, too far gone to appreciate that no begging would make him stop now.
“Come for me,” he demanded roughly, fucking you even faster as he sucked a mark onto your neck, and finally it all came crashing down with a choked-out cry of his name and a gush of warmth dripping out around his length.
“Ohh fuck, there you go, fuck it feels good when you come for me,” he grunted, thrusting even faster.  “You’re gonna milk my cock with that pretty pussy, babygirl— you’re gonna make me come…”
“J-Jake, not inside!” you interjected, getting his hand back over your mouth in return.
“Shh, it’s okay,” he soothed, “waited too long for this to pull out now.  Feels too fucking good.”
Behind his hand, the difference between whines of hatred and moans of pleasure was irritatingly subtle.
“I love you,” he reminded you in a voice exhausted yet heavy with desire, “so fucking much…”
A few more erratic, brutal thrusts accompanied by heavy pants and he was gone; you could feel his cock pulsing with each rope of come that filled you, so deep that your head fell dejectedly with the realization you had no hope of washing it out now.
His hand fell from your mouth but he didn’t pull out for another few moments as he caught his breath, gently peppering your neck and cheek in slow kisses.  “Baby,” he finally sighed, breaking the crushing silence, “you’re so fucking perfect.  I knew you were made for me.”
I hate you, you wanted to cry out, but words escaped you as he hugged you tightly and pulled your panties back into place, soaking them with his come as it leaked out of you just like he’d promised.  He stuffed his cock back into his jeans and helped you adjust your clothes back to looking almost presentable, finishing it off by turning you around and smiling at you with serene pride before kissing your forehead.
"You're gonna make such a beautiful prom queen," he cooed, “especially if you’ve already got a nice little bump showing…”
His hand rubbed beneath your belly button for emphasis, making you whimper and force your eyes shut as tears rolled down your cheeks.
"Shh, don’t cry, baby,” he soothed, kissing your cheek softly.  “Trust me, you're gonna love being my girl."

jealous! lucifer x gender neutral! reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genre: fluff, ig? slight smut in the end.
Fandom: obey me!
Prompt: you find yourself in a fake relationship, and now you're introducing your "boyfriend" to the demom brothers. they don't take it so well, especially lucifer.
Warnings: mentions of drinking, mentions of harassment and stalking, they make out in the end, reader's gender is unmentioned for your imagination (and inclusion).
Tumblr media
lucifer takes another swig of his whisky, a slight burning sensation lingering on his throat. no matter the amount of alcohol he consumed that night, he couldn't escape the bitter feeling that was left inside his chest.
the two of you have been hitting it off pretty well for the past few weeks, if he could say so himself. the harmless complimenting and the subtle glancing had turned into ardent flirting and shows of affection overtime. you two were finally going somewhere with your mutual pinning, or so he thought.
lucifer didn't think his small (not so small) crush on you would lead anywhere, really. nor did he think you would reciprocate his infatuation. but with all the friendly interactions you had of late, anyone would assume you two were together in a romantic light.
now look, lucifer prides himself as a person. he was assertive, efficient, productive, level-headed and the voice of reason when stress is most prominent. but as a lover? lucifer wasn't so sure. he assumed you'd like someone more jolly and eccentric like mammon or someone more confident and charismatic like asmodeus. he didn't expect for you to even spare him a second glance when it came to the dating game. lucifer was a busy man after all, and he wasn't the most expressive when it came to emotions; not very ideal for a lover.
but what lucifer also did not expect was for you to bring home a common demon boy and introduce him as your significant other.
let's just say that all the built up tension and courting were all ruined by a single dinner party.
you had gathered all the demon brothers earlier that morning, claiming you had an important announcement to make. you went as far as inviting diavolo and his loyal butler, barbatos, to spend the evening over for dinner. they thanked you for the invitation, but they unfortunately, could not attend because of their hectic schedules.
lucifer, on the other hand, was more than happy to accept your invitation (though he was quick to cover up the smile he held when you came up to him). seeing as he already lives under the same roof as you, anways. his happiness would soon be diminished and grinded into dirty, pathetic, dust, though.
lucifer's eyes narrow as mammon's loud laughter bounces off the walls of the dining room. lucienne, your "boyfriend", had managed to crack the demon up with one of his silly stories about a strange elderly wizard that sold expensive medication made out of fairy wings that turned out to just be bedazzled dragon fly wings. he worked wonders with the avatar of greed, considering the fact that just a moment ago, mammon was cursing in jealousy and resentment as you sat with your newly introduced boyfriend.
luficer would've told mammon to shut up, but he feared saying something far more vulgar out of anger. the previous tension was already eased into a more domesticated athmosphere (credits to lucienne's charm and humor), lucifer didn't want to ruin dinner for his brothers, and especially not for you.
i mean, lucifer felt betrayed, he felt used and-- and played. how could you lead him on like this? but deep inside, he knew there was something else. he felt disappointed, he felt defeated, he felt crushed, he wished he'd done something sooner before this lucienne stole you away from him.
but anyways, back to the dinner party.
"you seem unusually quiet, lucy." asmo teases from across lucifer's seat. the phrase seems to capture everyone's attention, all eyes now on the grimacing and glaring lucifer.
"asmo's right, you haven't uttered a word since lucienne arrived, lucifer. is something wrong?" you chime in, causing lucifer to perk up. the thought of you worrying about his state sent sparks into his heart, but they were quick to disappear when lucienne asks him the same question.
"i'm fine." he replies to your concern, unable to hide the venom that strung on to his words. this only causes asmodeus to snicker, and leviathan to sink deeper into his seat. everyone else watches in concern as lucifer downs another glass of demom whiskey. you're about to ask him again, unsure about his reply, but he stops you before you could even form a word.
"i said i'm fine."
the air is tense, until eventually, mammon gasps out of nowhere. "don't tell me! lucifer is jealous!!~" he repeats in a sing song manner, only irking lucifer even further. no one else speaks up, the whole situation akward enough.
after a while, though, lucienne speaks up. he gestures at mammon, especially. hoping to stop the demon from escalating the situation. "hey mammon, wanna hear about that one time i accidentally professed my love for my eight grade math teacher?" mammon only settles back into his seat, ready for another laughing fit. the avatar of pride snaps at this, slamming his fists down the table before abruptly excusing himself with a "i have something to do."
he spares you one last glance. his heart aching with guilt from the way you had lowered your head in shame. lucifer didn't want to make you feel like he owned you, or that you weren't allowed to be with someone else... he just, he has enough reason to justify his anger right now and he really wants to dwell in it. he turns his head away from you, biting his lip to contain the guilt and pain that was threatening to seep out. he doesn't turn to look back as he walks away from the dining room in long and rushed strides.
lucifer walks down the dark hallways of lamentation, familiar with every nook and cranny the mansion had. he sighs in relief as his palm reaches out for a familiar door. it creaks as lucifer walks into his room, sounding just as glum as lucifer is.
he heads straight to his paperwork, silently hoping that they would provide him some sort of comfort. he tries to focus on anything but the thought of you or your unavailability, his mind barely processing any of the words that were printed out in front of him. he groans, his hands pulling on his jet black hair in frustration.
i mean, he should've expected this. lucienne was everything lucifer thought you would love. funny outgoing, caring, expressive, charismatic, a smooth talker and he looked at you with utmost respect and admiration. i mean, who in their right mind would choose old-schooled lucifer over the flawless lucienne?
you deserve lucienne and although lucifer thinks that no one in the three realms could ever deserve to call you theirs, he still thinks that lucienne is more deserving of you than lucifer could ever be. what were you doing to the poor demon? he was never one to admit defeat like this, and he especially wasn't the type of person that'd lower themself like this.
his rollercoaster of thoughts are interrupted by a gentle knock on the door. his ears already familiar with this particular knocking pattern. he can't help but straighten himself up, suddenly aware of the way his hair is all sprawled out. he slicks it down with saliva, muttering a small "enter" soon after he finshes checking on his appearance.
his mood lightens just a little bit at the sight of your face. as much as lucifer wants to hate you right now, he couldn't possibly feel that way towards you. never, not in a quadrillion light years.
you sit down in front of him, a genuine look of concern on your face. this makes lucifer visibly frown, catching you a bit off guard. "i wanted to talk to you about something, lucifer." his eyes grow curious and a bit hopeful, wishing it were about something that would distract him from the current situation or give him even the tiniest bit of closure.
"it's about lucienne." and once again, you manage to crush all his hope with only a few words. lucifer swears that if he hears that name one more time, he would personally shove your lovely boyfriend down the deepest depths of the underworld.
you watch his brows furrow and his fist tighten on his quill. lucifer looks far from happy to hear you talk about your significant other right now. "look, i know you'd rather not hear about lucienne again, but it's really really important and i want you to just hear me out. just this once, please?"
lucifer couldn't stand the pleading look you were giving him. your puppy eyes were a weapon that you used on him often, and they always managed to work. a tired sigh leaves his lips, if it meant getting it over with then he'd listen. "fine," he snaps, not before rubbing at his temple in obvious distress. he's said fine, but his body language told you otherwise.
"someone's kind of harassing lucienne at the moment. stalking him, giving him unwanted gifts and constantly professing their love for him when he's told them multiple times that it made him uncomfortable. they're an admirer of some sorts. i'm posing as lucienne's lover in hopes that they'd back off for a while, but i wanted to see if you and diavolo could do some actual help. it's worrisome, really. and it's been stressing lucienne out for the past couple of weeks. pretending to be his significant other is the most i can do for him, i hope you understand."
lucifer only freezes in shock, guilt washing over him all so suddenly. you call out for him, effectively snapping him out of his short daze. of course you'd offer to help lucienne out, you've always been a kind person. in lucifer's eyes, atleast. he coughs into his hand, avoiding eye contact with you as he degrades himself for his previous selfishness.
"of course, i'll do my best to make sure this harasser is punished. the school and i will ensure that lucienne won't be seeing this stalker anytime soon. just keep supporting him like this, i suppose. tell him he can sleep here for the night. thank you for informing me about this." you smile at lucifer's response, relief overwhelming your senses. if this meant that lucienne was finally going to be safe and unbothered, you were overjoyed.
you jump at lucifer, thanking him, all the while, squeezing the life out of him. his heart races impossibly fast at the gesture, and you can't help but smirk at the red that tainted his cheeks. "just so you know, i still like you. and only you, lucy."
his breath comes to a halt. he was no longer able to contain the butterflies that crowded his stomach; shock and well, pure bliss apparent on his face. "does this mean i can kiss you?"
"do anything as you please."
lucifer lunges at you. capturing your lips into a hungry and impatient kiss. his hands roam all over your torso, looking for anything he could hold onto. he settles for your waist and you drape your hands over his shoulders. heaven knows how long he's been waiting for this moment.
he manages to stumble through his room, leading you two to his bed. you part as he pushes you down to sit at the end of his king sized bed. he grins at the sight of you, disheveled and thirsty for more. the avatar of pride couldn't help but be excited for the faces you'll make in the unholy endeavors he's planning for you. he'll devour you, tear apart every innocent limb you have in your body. his imagination runs wild as he thinks of the many ways he'd mark you as his, exhibit you to the world and spread you wide open for his contenders to see. for them to know just how pathetic and needy lucifer could make you in an instant.
he bends down to kiss you again, pushing against your tounge with his own. he squeezes your thighs, digging his nails deep into the skin under the cloth still covering you. groans and grunts leave your lips as he countinues to caress your plush thighs.
as you two part, panting, a newfound possessiveness overtakes lucifer's eyes.
"you're mine."

Affection
Paring: bucky barnes x reader
Summary: your boyfriend isn’t very fond of pda. that means while the avengers are around, no kissing, no cuddling, and barely any touching. well, the avengers aren’t always at the compound. when they’re gone, bucky turns into the sweetest, most loving guy you’ve ever met, but why is it he can’t act like that around anyone else?
based off this request even though I changed it a little for plot :)
Word Count: 1.6k+
Warnings: fluff, soft bucky, Tony in their business a bit, cursing
Masterlist
Tumblr media
✰  ✰  ✰
“How awesome is this right now?” You grin as you jump onto the sofa cushion next to Bucky.
He chuckles, “I’d say it’s pretty damn awesome. We’ve got the compound to ourselves for the entire weekend.” His voice lowers as he leans closer to you.
You giggle and scoot yourself just a bit closer to Bucky. You sit up on your knees next to Bucky, sitting a little taller than him now. Smiling, you lean your face down to his, your lips hovering over his.
Bucky couldn’t wait any longer. He tilts his head back and presses his lips to yours. Your smile only grows bigger as you kiss him back.
Your body relaxes as you kiss him. You bring your hand to the side of his face and cup his cheek, gently trying to bring him closer to you.
Bucky wraps his metal arm around your waist, lifting you on to his lap. You giggle into his lips which makes Bucky pull back. He grins as he watches you giggle to yourself.
“What is it, doll?” Bucky chuckles.
You shake your head, “nothing, Buck. I’m just really happy to be with you, especially like this.”
Bucky raises a brow and smirks, “like this?”
You roll your eyes, “I mean I like being with you. I like kissing you and being close to you. It makes me really happy.” You gently tangle your fingers in his hair as you confess this.
Bucky softly smiles at you, and grabs your hand from his hair to place a kiss to the back of it. “You’re sweet on me. You make me really happy, darling; happier than I think I’ve ever been.”
You heart swells, and you rub your thumb over the back of Bucky’s hand that still holds yours. “Well, you make me happier than I’ve ever been. I can’t remember the last time my heart beat for someone the way it does you, Bucky.”
Bucky blushes, and tries to look away from you.
You gasp with a laugh, “Buck, no! Don’t hide your pretty face from me.”
You gently grasp his chin and turn his head to look at you. His cheeks are lightly rosy, and his smile is wide. “There’s my pretty boy.”
Bucky flushes again, and mumbles a shy, “stop, doll.”
You just giggle and plant a kiss to his warm cheeks.
Bucky stands up and pulls you with him. “You want to dance with me, doll?”
“Like you used to back in the day?”
Bucky grins, “exactly. FRIDAY, could you put on my playlist, please?”
FRIDAY responds, “sure. ‘songs to woo Y/n’ now playing.”
You giggle at the title of the playlist. Bucky is such a dork sometimes.
Bucky chuckles too as he places his hands on your waist. “You weren’t supposed to know the title of the playlist.”
“Aw, but it’s so cute. If these songs don’t woo me, I’m going to be really disappointed.” You say as you wrap your arms around his neck, swaying gently to the soft melody.
The two of you quiet down, just basking in the alone time you have. It isn’t often you two get to be like this. Bucky, isn’t a fan of pda. Doing things in public makes him uncomfortable, and you get that. With everything he’s been through, the last thing you want is to force him to kiss you in front of the other avengers.
Things are nice the way they are. Sure, Nat and Wanda think it’s strange he doesn’t hold your hand around them, or that he gets awkward when you try to kiss him in front of people, but you think that’s just how Bucky is. You like the Bucky the way he is, even if you secretly would like to not be limited to showing affection in private.
“What are you thinking about, doll?”
You pull your eyes from the ground and look at Bucky who has a small smile on his face. “Nothing, baby, don’t worry about it. I’m just happy right now is all.”
Bucky presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, “I’m happy too. I love you, Y/n.”
You grin, and gently pull on your arms so Bucky’s head lowers enough for you to give him a kiss. “I love you too, Buck.”
Just before the next song starts to play, an unexpected voice chimes through the compound.
“You know, I actually was starting to believe you were lying about being together since I never see you guys interact.” Tony says as he walks into the main room. The rest of the team, consisting of Nat, Wanda, Steve, Vision, Thor, and Bruce, follow behind him.
Bucky awkwardly clears his throat and steps away from you as well as stopping the music.
“Oh come on,” Nat smiles, “don’t stop on our account.”
You awkwardly chuckle, “What are you guys doing back so soon? I thought it was weekend thing.”
“Well it was,” Tony dramatically says as he sits on the couch, “until it ended up being a false alarm so they sent us back here. How they screwed it up enough to get us involved over a prank is beyond me.”
Steve steps closer to Bucky, “I heard the playlist you had on. It sure does bring back some memories.”
Bucky nodded, “Yeah, things were so much simpler back then.”
“Sorry,” Tony interrupts, “I don’t mean to be nosy, but I am, so what’s up with you two.” He points between you and Bucky. “Cause I’ve noticed some things. I never see you kiss, you don’t hold hands, you don’t sit close to each other, you don’t hug, you don’t anything really.”
“Really, Tony?” Steve scolds, “You have to be all in their business like some teenager?”
Tony sticks his hands up in defense, “hey, don’t get angry at me. We were all thinking it.” He turns to Bucky and addresses him, “so is there any particular reason you guys try to hide your relationship, or what?”
Bucky clears his throat, “Well, we don’t hide anything. We’re just not that kind of couple.”
“What do you mean by that? You two mutually agreed you don’t want to show people your relationship?”
Bucky clears his throat, “I mean, it’s not like we’ve had a conversation about deliberately hiding it, it’s just natural for us.”
“So Y/n likes only being shown affection when you feel is a good time?”
Bucky growls, “no, Stark, it’s not like that.”
“Tony, I think that’s enough.” Steve commands, trying to keep everyone at ease.
“I’m not doing anything but asking questions. I think you two need to have a conversation, and now is the perfect time!” Tony suggests as he stares at you.
There’s no way he could know how you’ve been feeling. The only person you told was Nat and she would never tell anyone your secrets.
“For fuck’s sake, Tony, Y/n and I don’t nee-”
“Yeah, let’s talk.” You cut Bucky off. His wide eyes turn to you and his jaw hangs low.
“Um, yeah, we can do that.” He stammers.
You grab Bucky’s hand and pull him out of the living room to get to your bedroom. As you walk by, you see Tony giving you a thumbs up, and Nat behind him winking at you.
You shake your head and laugh to yourself a little.
Once in your room, you sit down on your bed, Bucky slowly following pursuit.
He sighs, “are we good? Cause I didn’t think we had anything to talk about. I mean, I know we haven’t exactly said we were going to keep things subtle in front of our friends, but-”
“Bucky,” you interrupt. He stops his rambling to look at you with wide, puppy eyes. “Breathe, baby. I just want to talk.”
Bucky nods, allowing you to keep talking.
“First, I want to know if there is a reason you don’t like for people to see us acting like a couple.”
Bucky sighs, “it’s not that I don’t want to show you off, it’s just that...” He’s quiet.
You can tell it’s taking a lot from him to express this to you, so you’re willing to be patient with him.
“I’m scared, Y/n.”
Your eyes soften as you grab one of Bucky’s hands. “Honey, what are you afraid of?”
He looks down, embarrassed, “you know I don’t really have a good record in, well, anything. My whole life is just one never-ending stream of unfortunate events. When I’m with you though, I feel really lucky. I know it’s sounds stupid and irrational, but I was just scared if people saw how happy I finally am, you would get taken from me, or I would mess things up and you’d be gone.”
Bucky sighs, and lifts his head to gauge your reaction. “I know it doesn’t excuse how I’ve been to you, how I must have made you feel, and I can’t apologize enough, doll. I’m so sorry that I didn’t make you feel as important to me as you are, and I’m sorry if I made you feel like I was ashamed of you. I promise I’m not. I love you so much, darling,  I’m so sorry.”
Bucky’s eyes start to water as he desperately squeezes onto your hand.
You sigh and comfortingly rub your thumb cross the back of his hand. “i’m not mad at you, or upset by what you did, Buck. I kind of had a feeling there was something wrong and a reason you didn’t like showing our relationship to others. I should have talked to you sooner and not let Tony get involved. I’m sorry for that, by the way. I feel bad how Tony put you on the spot like that.”
Bucky chuckles, “it’s not your fault, but thanks anyway.” He presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, “I want people to see us and know we’re together.”
You giggle, “so you aren’t scared anymore?”
“I can’t let the fear of this being over in the future stop me from living happily in the present. I want to be with you all  the time, not just when no one is around.”
You smile and stand up, pulling on Bucky’s hand so he stands as well. “Come on, let’s go let our friends know we’ve figured things out.”
Bucky chuckles and follows behind you, ready and willing to follow you anywhere.

Tumblr media
If someone had told you that you would wake up snuggled to your boss — naked — you would have told them to fuck off and leave you alone. Not that the idea of James in your bed was repulsive, no, it was actually quite the opposite. You wanted him so much that it scared you because he — well, he was so gorgeous, and you were you. And he even looked better lying in your bed while the sunlight peaked onto his face from the window, making his stubble and hair appear golden-ish. Even as hard his exterior was, everything about him, mostly sleeping in your bed, appeared soft.
“You know, watching people while they sleep is kinda creepy,” James said, his voice gruff from sleep and you felt heat rushing through your body. God, his morning voice was so hot. It took a second for your brain to register his words and when it did, you moved your gaze away from him.
“You’re beautiful,” you blurted out. You could feel him rumbling as he rubbed his still sleep-dazed eyes.
He gently lifted his hand to place it on your face, caressing your cheek softly with his knuckles as he said, “You are beautiful."
You jokingly rolled your eyes and shifted your face slightly to plant a kiss on the inside of his palm. “Don’t you have a club to run?”
“The club can wait,” Bucky’s hand trailed off from your face to your waist and he flipped you, situating you on his lap and kissed you lazily while his hands roamed around your body.
***
Bucky felt like he was dreaming, he felt as if any moment you’ll slip out of his grasp and he would have to wake up. This was too good to be true, you were too good to be true. After an incredible morning, which included him pounding into you in your bed and then on the kitchen worktop and then in the shower. He couldn’t keep his hands to himself, he needed to touch you — feel you — make sure you were here with him safe.
It wasn’t just sex, it was so intimate that it felt so much more. The time when he wasn’t buried inside you, you’d talk about everything. He told you that when he was a kid, he loved baking. His mom worked, so he spent most of his time helping his sister with her new hobby. Rebecca soon grew out of it, but Bucky didn’t. He told you he’d love to open a bakery in a foreign country.
“You know, we can go to Europe,” you suggested. “You can open a bakery and maybe some chocolate whiff is all I need to break out from my writing slump.”
Bucky’s heart ached at your confession, he was delighted to know that he wasn’t the only one that was fantasizing about a future with you. He had never told his ambitions to anyone, mainly because when he did tell someone, they laughed at him. His career and exterior did not match his dreams, and soon those dreams died. But you made him desire that peaceful life. He wanted peace and tranquility in his life with you. Maybe tomorrow he would wake up and realize that this was some dream, and he was alone in his apartment and not in your bed.
“Have you thought of a name yet?” you asked, “For the bakery.”
“Did you recall that song you were humming?”
“No,” you said, “But I’m sure it will make a great bakery name.”
You curled up into his chest, you were almost asleep. He kissed the top of your head, refusing to succumb to sleep, holding you tightly so that even if this was an elaborate fantasy that his mind had conjured, he was adamant to still make the most of it.
***
After leaving your house to get ready for work, that's when he finally realized that this was real. You were his, and he was yours in a sense that no amount of words could comprehend. You hadn’t put any official labels on your relationship, but the way you moaned his name and breathlessly whispered, “I’m yours. All yours.” multiple times in his ears was enough.
Bucky hated when people called him James, it reminded him of his father, but the way you said his name with adoration filled in your eyes and tone made him content. You made him feel content and happy with everything you did without even realizing it. Bucky hoped he could do the same for you — make you feel at peace.
“I’ve been calling you since morning,” Steve commented the moment Bucky entered his office. He eyed the group of people — Steve, Sam, Clint, Pietro, Wanda, and Peter in his office before exhaling. Although Bucky was their boss, that didn't deter them from treating him like the friend he was. He didn’t mind that either, these people gave him a sense of belonging — a family, and he would give his life for them just like they would for him.
“I was asleep,” Bucky lied. And of course, his friends didn’t buy it.
“I came by your place this morning. You weren't there sleeping,” Steve retorted. He didn’t like how his best friend who he saw as a brother was hiding things from him.
Fuck, Bucky thought. Admittedly, he wasn't at his place, he was at yours. He didn’t know what to say when six sets of eyes were looking at him expectantly. He couldn’t tell the truth, he wasn't a kiss-and-tell kind of guy. He wanted to avoid telling because you met these people every day, and it would become awkward for you; but mostly he didn’t want anyone to find out because it was so new for him that he was scared to even mention your relationship, terrified of jinxing it.
Just when he was about to muster up an excuse, a soft knock on his office door snapped everyone’s attention towards the entrance. Bucky’s relief was short-lived the moment he realized it couldn’t be anyone except you. Now everyone was looking at Bucky impatiently, waiting for him to respond.
If it were anyone else Bucky would have asked them to go away, but it was you. You were knocking at his door. He wanted to see you, see the marks hidden behind the concealer or collar when he sucked your neck a little too hard the previous night and this morning. Mainly, he wanted to see you.
“Come in,” He said, ignoring the stares his friends were giving him. His breath hitched at your sight, you were really breathtaking. You weren't looking at him or anyone in the room. No, you were holding two coffees and a bag of donuts in your hand. Your eyes were focused and you were looking inside the bag, searching for a dish to put his donut in, when you said, “I knew you'd skip breakfast after you left this morning. I brought you -”
“Y/N,” Wanda cut you off.
Bucky internally thanked Wanda because he didn’t have it in him to stop you from speaking.  And that’s when you finally looked up and were met with seven people staring at you. Sam, Wanda, and Pietro were looking at you with a smirk on their face. Peter looked down at his feet. Clint was clueless and confused. Steve wasn’t looking at you, he was staring at his best pal who lied to him about his whereabouts. And Bucky’s eyes were fixed on you and when yours landed on his, he smiled at you and shook his head, telling you that he got you.
“What are you doing here, Y/N? Your shift doesn’t start till night,” Pietro informed, he was clearly teasing you. And soon a sense of understanding came to Clint’s senses when he joined the dots and his eyes widened before a smirk formed on his lips.
“I… I,” you stuttered. Your brain couldn't come up with an excuse this quickly. Bucky opened his mouth to say something, but you raised your hands and the packet of donuts with it and excitedly said, “I brought doughnuts!”
“Thank you!” Bucky exclaimed, swiftly walking towards you, taking the donuts from your hand, and placing it on the table. He draped his arm around your waist before leading you outside his office. His friends knew now, he wasn’t going to tone down the PDA in front of them. He just didn't want you to feel awkward or under anyone's subjection.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know,” you started once you were away from everyone. “I wouldn’t have if I knew -”
Bucky’s lips landed on yours, stopping your rambling. His arms snaked around your waist, pushing you flush against his chest, and you wrapped your hands around his neck. “It wasn’t your fault,” he mumbled adjacent to your lips and you sighed in relief.
“I just wanted to bring you breakfast since we couldn’t have it,” you pouted, flusteredly thinking about the morning activities that stopped you from having breakfast.
Bucky beamed down at you and planted another soft kiss on your lips. “How about I make it up to you at lunch,” he suggested, “I'll bake something for you too.”
You nodded excitedly and were about to leave when Bucky gently took your wrist in his hand. “Doll, text me when you reach home, yeah?”
***
Bucky dreaded going back into his office, he knew he would be bombarded with questions and knowing smirks. He decided to rip off the band and entered the office. “Okay, go for it, ask away.”
“How long has this been going on?” Steve was the first one to question.
“I mean, officially since last night.”
Sam was about to drop a snarky comment when Pietro chimed in. “Who asked who out?”
“I asked her out,” Bucky answered, and was bewildered. “Why is that important?”
“I knew it!” Wanda cheered and raised her hand, palms up, towards the blond. “Pay up,” Pietro grumbled before handling her sister 20 dollars.
“You guys bet on us?” Bucky asked and was met with amused snickers from everyone except Steve. Peter stepped forwards before saying, “I had no part in this, Mr. Barnes.”
The twins rolled their eyes before Steve interjected another one of Sam’s almost snippy comments. “She is the reason you attacked Rumlow, isn't she?”
Sam raised his hands in frustration and turned towards his husband. “Come on, babe. You just had to ruin the fun.”
Bucky exhaled and answered honestly, “Yes, but I can’t tell you why. You just have to take my word for it and trust me that he deserved it.”
“Buck, I’m not saying I don’t trust you, but you have to understand where my fear is coming from,” Steve said, “I know Rumlow and I know he's planning something big. We have to be careful. You can't be distracted by this girl, pal.”
Bucky was furious. He did not expect his best bud to say that. Steve knew how much Bucky pinned for you, he knew how much Bucky wanted you. How could he just say that about you after knowing all of this? “That’s rich coming from you after you told me to be happy.”
Bucky huffed in disbelief, his voice filled with venom. “Well, guess what, pal? She makes me happy.”
Nobody dared to intervene between the childhood friends. Everyone knew that Steve was saying stupid shit out of concern, but Bucky couldn’t see it. Bucky would fight anyone for you, even his best pal.
“You attacked our enemy because of this girl that you’ve been with since what — a day?” Steve scoffed sarcastically, and Bucky’s breath was drawn and his fists balled.
“I attacked him because he-” Bucky cursed himself and inhaled sharply. He couldn’t do this to you, it wasn't his decision to tell. You had decided that nobody would find out about what Rumlow did to you, not even cops, and Bucky respected your decision. He wouldn’t do this to you, especially not out of anger and in front of multiple people you didn't even know.
Before Steve could say something, Bucky’s phone vibrated on the table. A text, Bucky assumed it was you, informing him that you had reached home. You — thinking about you made him take a breath and calmed him a bit. He decided he would text you in the privacy of his office, after his friends would leave. He would text you back or better call you when he wasn’t fuming with rage at his best friend, then he would take you out on a lunch date.
Bucky was about to reach for his phone when Clint finally spoke up, “Steve, we will be careful, okay? We will contact our sources and find out about Rumlow’s plan.”
All the heads present in the office accepted this decision. Sam scolded Steve and Bucky and made them hug out their issues like kindergarteners. Peter offered to make a drink and everyone made their way downstairs towards the bar, leaving the office and Bucky’s phone unattended.
What Bucky didn’t know was that Rumlow’s plan was already in action, in reality, he had even succeeded in his plan.
If Bucky had checked his phone, then he would have realized it wasn't a text from you, instead, it was a text from an unknown number with an attached photo. The picture was of you tied to a chair, your eyes half-lidded with drugs and tears, and a bruise forming on your left cheek.

Happy Holidays! Can you write a Jimin hybrid Au? I love you and your fics!
Every day, we stray closer to being a furry.
Tumblr media
↳ Floof’s Tail
3k || 80% Fluff, 20% Angst || Park Jimin || Hybrid!AU
You’re beaming with excitement.
The first time you saw her through the glass window, you thought she was just a visitor. You were so happy when she wanted to play with you and only you. And you were even more ecstatic when she came a second time days later. You spent time together for hours on end, just like many of the other humans that came around to keep you and the other hybrids company.
But unlike them, she adopted you.
You still can’t believe you now have a home, something to call yours, and an owner that you love so much.
Soyeon stops in the hall and her hand lifts to pet you, gesture affectionate and eyes loving. You lean into her touch, and she smiles before withdrawing away much to your disappointment.
“This is it, Y/N.”
Her arms motion theatrically to the door, and then she pulls out her keys with a grin. “This is my home and it’s going to be your home from now on too.”
Your tail is practically wagging and you look at the gray door, loving what’s inside already without needing to see it. You don’t remember much of the street name or the apartment building, but you know that it’s the seventh floor, that it seems super nice from the outside, and they’ll probably be big windows looking out at the city. Not to mention from the drive here, there’s also a park close by!
You can’t wait.
The door opens.
Soyeon brings in your small bag along with the other stuff she bought for you at the store, and then she turns around to beckon you to come in, smiling softly. “There’s someone I’d like you to meet, Y/N.”
This is a dream. It’s all you’ve ever wanted and wished for. An owner. A home. A place to call your own. But you should’ve known, nothing is what it seems.
The moment you step inside, you’re hit with a thick scent. It slams into you, choking your lungs and overwhelming your senses. Warm and earthy, like vanilla and the trees at the park after a rainy day in Spring. You don’t know why you didn’t notice before. It always lingered on Soyeon, a scent underneath her laundry fabric softener and sweet perfume. Maybe you had unconsciously ignored it because you wanted so desperately to be hers.
But of course, someone as perfect as Soyeon would have another dog.
Before you can dart out the door, she calls for him. “Jimin!”
He comes barreling out of the hall with a big smile and his tail wagging.
Only, he stops short a meter away with his eyes pin-pointed on you. His grin instantly falls, ears drooping. His brows furrow as if to ask ‘what the hell is this’.
Soyeon smiles. “Y/N, this is Jimin.”
Jimin is a dog hybrid just like you. You can tell by the triangle ears on the top of his head that’s a slightly darker shade than the blonde hair that falls over his forehead. His face is round, cheeks full and his lips are pouty. But his brown eyes are mean. They’re half-lidded and glaring at you.
“Jimin, this is our new puppy, Y/N.”
“Leave!” he suddenly barks at you, growling at the back of his throat. You yelp, ears pressed flat on your head and you jump to cower behind Soyeon who’s bigger and taller than you are.
“Jimin,” Soyeon scolds in a low tone.
But he isn’t dissuaded and steps closer to you with one large stride.
Your back hits the door, fear making your eyes grow round. He’s much larger than you are and his scent is thicker too. Jimin’s nose twitches, but before he can get to you, Soyeon blocks his way.
More sternly than before she commands, “Jimin, stop.”
Soyeon takes your hand, turns around and shushes you. “It’s okay, it’s okay, don’t worry,” she coos and then shifts to the other hybrid. “Stay right there, Jimin.”
He glares as Soyeon leads you away, down the hall into a room. But he doesn’t move.
“This is my room and the place that’ll be yours too.” She shuts the door and realizes your distressed expression. “Everything will be okay,” Soyeon tries to reassure and comes to brush a hand through your hair. Then she looks over to the small bag she had dragged with her and lights up. “Oh, here’s your kitty cat.”
It’s a tattered stuffed toy you’ve had since you were born in the shelter, but the moment she passes it to you, you hug it and find comfort. Your heart begins to slow back to its normal pace and Soyeon smiles, seeing that you’ve eased.
“Get yourself settled, okay? I’ll be a second. I just have to talk to Jimin.”
“Okay.”
Her room is large with plenty of space. There’s a massive bed bigger than you’ve ever seen and a TV opposite of it. By the other wall, there’s a bookshelf, vanity, and desk with a computer. There’s a walk-in closet, dresser and another door to a bathroom too. It’s everything anyone could ever need in one room.
You marvel at your surroundings before staring out the enormous glass window.
But your ears perk. Outside the room, there’s muffled voices.
You shuffle your feet over the door and you pick up what’s being said.
“—your friend and heat partner.”
“I don’t need a friend or a heat partner!”
“Jimin. This….this isn’t the way to act.”
There’s a long sigh and you hear steps coming down the hall. You step back and Soyeon opens the door before shutting it. She looks at you with your eyes on the ground, tail drooping and your ears pressed to your head again.
“It’s okay,” she suddenly says in a higher-pitched voice. You head lifts to her and she smiles, petting you softly behind the ear. “Jimin’s really sweet and kind, I promise. You just have to get used to each other.”
You nod.
Soyeon asks, “Do you want snacks?”
Your eyes widen and your head bobs more enthusiastically.
...
Soyeon does a good job of distracting you. She pets you, plays with you, shows you her room and the connected bathroom. The TV has you especially captured for a while, but you’re broken out of your trance when you hear knocking on the door. Followed by scratching.
And then there’s Jimin’s whine.
Soyeon looks at you and says. “I’ll be right back.”
She slips away and you’re left by yourself again.
Deep down, you know you shouldn’t get too comfortable. This isn’t your home.
“Yes. I tried to introduce them, but it isn’t going as well as I thought it would.”
Soyeon’s voice is quiet, barely above a murmur. Yet it’s enough to stir you from your sleep and your eyes flutter a few times before you see her outline standing in the corner. She’s facing the wall with her phone pressed to her ear. You don’t know what time it is but it’s still dark outside.
“My other dog, he’s a guard dog, but he’s more possessive than I thought—….okay…..okay. Oh, alright. Yeah.”
She stops talking and you shut your eyes again, pretending you didn’t hear.
When Soyeon turns around, she doesn’t see the tears pricking at the corner of your eyes.
The sheets, the pillow, the blanket, it all smells like Jimin. Even if you’re stowed away in this room for the rest of your life and kept separate, the walls have already been plunged with his scent.
...
You don’t realize you’ve drifted back to sleep until you wake up with the sunshine on your face.
And your heart feels full when you see Soyeon right there with you. You’ve never been taken care of so closely by someone before, never been solely doted on, never had someone call you in such a soft voice and look at you that lovingly. And she chose you. But you don’t let yourself become too happy. Not when there was someone else on the other end of the apartment.
Still, you very much like it when Soyeon smiles and sweetly chimes, “Rise and shine.”
You rub your eyes, voice still sleepy, “Morning.”
As you sit up from your spot on the bed, your nose twitches. Your pupils instantly dart to a wool sweater draped at the back of the desk chair. It smells strong. Stronger than the rest of the room.
Soyeon follows your line of sight. “Oh. I thought you looked cold in that dress. I ordered you new clothes, but they’ll arrive later tonight. Do you want to wear that for the time being?”
“M-Maybe later.”
She nods. “Are you hungry?”
You nod enthusiastically and the corner of her lips quirk.
As she leaves to get you food, you stare at the sweater. It looks softer than the blankets and much warmer too. Before you can think twice, you approach slowly, feet cold on the floorboards.
You hesitantly sink your hand into the plush fabric of the sweater.
It doesn’t bite you. No one yells.
You pick it up and bring it to your nose, inhaling deeply. It actually smells….good. Comforting.
Soyeon grins when she returns with a tray of food, noticing the sweater slipped on top of your dress.
Halfway through your meal, she looks at your stuffed cat and boops its black nose. “Hey, Y/N. Would you mind if Jimin took a look at this? I think he’d really like it.”
You shift uncomfortably. “I don’t know.”
“I have other toys for you, like the sheep.” She plops down the white stuffie next to you that looks like a huge cotton ball. You picked it out yourself, but still… “I’ll only borrow this one for a few hours.”
It takes a second, then you’re nodding. “Okay then.”
Soyeon’s hand lifts to gently ruffle your hair. “Thank you.”
After breakfast, you watch TV as Soyeon cleans up and probably attends to Jimin on the other side of the wall. But no later is she returning to play with you. The two of you end up reading a story as you cuddle up to her. She shows you how to play a game on her laptop too. But then all of it is interrupted when the phone rings.
Your ears perk and you flinch from the loud sound.
Soyeon picks it up and stands in the corner of the room. “Hello?” There’s silence and then she’s sighing. “What do you mean, Taehyung? I put the file on your desk before I left.” A long pause has you worried. “It should be somewhere in our email correspondence. Figure it out.”
“No. I can’t come in! I’m on personal leave for the next two weeks, remember?” Her voice moves up a pitch and you wince. Soyeon’s clearly upset and you hate it. “Ugh. I hate you. I swear to god, Kim.”
She hangs up.
“Is something wrong?” you ask.
“I have to go into work, but I’ll be back in an hour.” She’s frantically rushing around, entering her closet and emerging with a blouse, pants and a coat. Still, she finds the time to come over to you and she presses a kiss on top of your forehead. “I’ll be quick, I promise.”
“It’s okay. I can wait.” You muster a smile, trying to make her feel better. After all, she’s done her best to comfort you. Now you want to do the same to her.
“It’ll just take a jiffy. Be back before you know it.” Soyeon steps towards the door. “Don’t leave the room, okay, Y/N?”
You nod.
Soyeon leaves a few moments later. You hear footsteps in the hall, muffled voices and then the larger door shutting. Instantly, you become drowned in silence without the television or the laptop or Soyeon’s comforting voice and soothing hands petting you. You’re abandoned.
On the other side of the wall is someone who hates you and wishes you were gone.
The truth that’s been blaring in your head becomes noisier than ever: this isn’t your home.
Maybe what she said was just an excuse. Maybe the phone call was an act and maybe Soyeon hates you too. Maybe you’re more problematic than she expected, and she’ll return you to the shelter tomorrow or even today. You wouldn’t blame her if she did. Soyeon probably wanted someone to get along with Jimin and you’re too much of a handful for her.
You don’t realize you’re crying until it’s gotten so loud that it’s deafening to your own ears. But you can’t help the wails choking out of your sobbing chest or the tears streaming down your face. You lay curled up in the bed, ears pressed to your head as you clutch your toy to your chest.
Through your clouded vision, you don’t notice the bedroom door opening. Not until you hear—
“You know she’s not leaving forever, right?”
Instantly, you jolt and scramble back on the bed. Until your back hits the headboard, pillows bent underneath you.
Jimin looks at you, eyeing the way you’re wearing his sweater, and he swallows hard. “She’s supposed to leave five to six hours a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. But she always comes back.”
You whimper and he frowns.
“Stop making those noises.”
“I can’t help it,” you hiccup and rub your eyes. “W-Will she make me go back?”
“What?”
“The shelter. Will she leave me if we don’t get along?”
Jimin shifts his weight from one foot to another, expression almost uncomfortable. But he says, “Soyeon’s not that kind of owner.”
You hiccup and snivel, unable to make the lump in your throat go away. “I...I just want a home.”
You almost start to cry again, but then Jimin extends his arm. You see him holding your kitty cat. “I think this is yours,” he says and you nod, teary-eyed. He points to your body. “That’s my sweater. You’re not supposed to touch it.”
You look down, not sure if you should take it off. But you’re too scared to move.
At once, the concern vanishes. Jimin takes a step towards you and your spine and ears straighten on reflex. Then he takes another. You whimper and his brows furrow again. “Stop it. I won’t bite you.”
He places the kitty cat on the edge of the bed and in a moment where your courage has swelled, you lurch forward to grab it. Immediately, you withdraw and hold it to your chest.
You frown when you realize how much it smells like him.
You’re too busy paying attention to your toy to see the bed dip. To see Jimin crawling closer to you. Not until he’s facing you, practically nose to nose. Your back hits the headboard once more and your breath hitches. But instead of being barked at or bitten, Jimin leans in. You feel a tickle as his nose sniffs at your neck.
You release your breath, unable to hold it any longer and when you inhale, you smell him.
Jimin’s scent is warm and earthy, like vanilla and trees at the park after a rainy day in Spring. When you’re not scared, it actually smells really nice. Even if you don’t want to admit it.
Jimin sniffs at your neck incessantly with his nose and then at your hair. You whine, slumping downwards, and he practically hovers over you, caging your frame in with his arms, smelling down your body.
The tip of his nose travels from the valley of your breasts down your tummy. He pauses at the apex of your thighs, right where your underwear is and you shut your legs together.
You’re vulnerable beneath him and you’re not sure clutching the two toys to your chest will do much good in protecting you if he decides to attack. But when Jimin’s done, he looks at you and simply says, “You smell like flowers.”
“Is that bad?”
He pauses. “No. But I like it when things smell like me.”
You gasp when he suddenly leans in, brushing his cheek against yours, nuzzling into you. It tickles and you can’t help but giggle. Jimin’s ears perk at the bubbly sound and his tail starts to wag. The toys roll off your chest, and they’re left beside you when you let go. You wiggle and shift away from him, yet he pounces after you with a smile on his face.
You laugh, managing to dodge his arms and slip off the bed.
But Jimin’s much too fast and swift for your liking. He corners you by the closet with an enormous grin on his face, half-moon eyes lit up in mischief. Before you can dart to the left, he snatches your waist and follows after you as you collapse on the soft carpet.
Jimin brushes his cheek against yours, the weight of his body pressed to yours with a knee placed between your parted thighs. You’re never going to completely smell like him, not when you have your own scent, so you’re not sure why he’s trying so hard. But you don’t mind.
You take the chance to smell him too, nose twitching at his neck. A hum leaves the back of your throat as you allow yourself to become immersed in the comforting scent.
...
When Soyeon comes home an hour later, she’s surprised that Jimin isn’t already waiting at the door or doesn’t come barreling out to greet her. It’s much too quiet. She doesn’t have a good feeling.
Blood drains from her face when she walks down the hall and she sees the bedroom door wide open. The woman rushes inside, nearly tripping her feet, mouth falling open.
Yet the words die in her throat and a smile lifts onto her features when she sees Jimin cuddling you. The pair of you are fast asleep.

Warnings: Wet dreams. oral (F receiving) unprotected sex, (Please wrap it up!)
You wondered if anyone else felt that the car was stuffy. Sandwiched between Sam and Harry with Tom and Harrison in the front, there was little to no room. This was day three of the ten day road trip, and you were officially tired of sitting in the car. Sam was respectful, trying to give you as much space as he could with you being in the middle seat, Harry on the other hand was pushed up into you with his hand resting on your leg for the umpteenth time. Not that you particularly minded, but you weren't sure why he was being so touchy with you. Your mind kept wandering every time his fingers brushed across your thigh, and as much as you tried to not think the things you were about him, you couldn't help it.
You had finally given up, and closed your eyes, hoping the ache that was in your core would dissipate. There was quite literally nothing you could do about it yourself, at least in the moment. So with your eyes squeezed shut and your head thrown up on the headrest you tried desperately to get the dirty thoughts about your close friend Harry Holland out of your head.
It probably would have worked too, until you felt his face nuzzle into the crook of your neck. His warm breath ghosting the skin of your neck, spreading goosebumps all through your skin and making that desperate ache grow ten times. You couldn't take it anymore. With your thighs squeezed together, in hopes of any relief you let out a loud sigh. “Harrison, can we please stop at the next place with a restroom?” You asked, hoping that no one noticed the desperation in your tone. Harrison obliged, pulling into a nearly empty rest stop only a few miles further down.
As soon as Sam was out of your way you bee lined it towards the building, rushing to the bathroom like your life depended on it. You stood in the tidy restroom, with mirrors that barely offered a reflection. You splashed cold water on your face hoping the ache would disappear now that you weren't stuck to Harry.
Years upon years of knowing the Hollands, and since day one Harry had always tickled your fancy. The curly red hair, the humor the boy quite simply radiated, the warm kind eyes, and his smile. Oh his smile. This road trip was supposed to be a fun experience, a vacation of sorts, but it just seemed to be a constant torture for you. The other boys sticking you with Harry every chance they got. You were sure it was merely a coincidence, there was absolutely no way they knew about your crush. Right?
Last night though, had taken the cake. The hotel had only one room left and they had stuck you and Harry in one bed. You claimed it was no big deal, but in the middle of the night when he had unconsciously thrown his arm around your waist and pulled you into him, you were sure you were going to explode then and there. And the ache just seemed to keep growing.
The door opened causing you to jump. You looked over to see Harry walking in, weary of the fact that he was in the ladies room.
“What are you doing?” You asked him. The smirk that creeped up his lips let you know, he knew. He had to know. Why else would he follow you into a rest stop restroom?
“I was just worried about you, love,” his voice was low, deeper than usual, and you could feel your pussy clench at the sound of his voice.
“I'm alright,” You whispered. His eyebrows raised as he took another step towards you. You shivered as a million ways he could simply take you right now flashed through your mind.
“I've noticed the things you have been doing you know,” he smirked. Your eyes grew wide, not sure exactly what he meant. You have been doing an awful lot lately. “Every time i touch you, your thighs clench together, probably in hopes to relieve some of the pressure that has surely built up over the last few days,” the truth behind the things he said had your mouth hanging open, unaware of what to say to him. He closed the distance between the two of you arms boxing you in as you leaned against the wall in absolute complete shock.
“I-” You began to try and say anything but his finger pressed against your lips. He took his bottom lip between his teeth as he looked over you, a fire in his eyes you had never seen before.
“Am I wrong?” He whispered as he brought his lips to your neck, leaving the softest kisses down from behind your ear to your shoulder. You let out a moan, as you felt yourself grow wetter. “Didn't think so,” Harry mumbled before bringing his lips to yours. The kiss started slowly, his lips familiarizing themselves with yours. Moving gently over yours, but soon it became deep and with intent, you could feel his hand traveling down your body stopping right before the pool that had accumulated in your underwear. This was it.
The car screeched to a halt and you could hear Tom cursing at the driver in front of you, you looked around shocked that you had fallen asleep. When did Tom and Harrison swap seats? More importantly, how long had you been asleep and how much of your dream had slipped from your unconscious lips. You were a sleep talker, like majorly, so the panic set in instantly, having just had a wet dream about the boy to your right.
Harrison noticed you had woken up first, turning around in his seat as much as he could to look at you. “Morning y/n, have a good sleep?” it didn't seem as there was any teasing behind his question so you were hopeful.
“S’allright. How long was i out?” you felt Harry's body move as if he was chuckling you turned to see a giant shit eating grin spread across his face. You felt your stomach twist. “What did I say?” you asked burying your face in your hands, you knew this could be bad.
“It's okay love, think only I heard,” Harry whispered.
“I heard,” Sam piped in.
“So did we,” Tom announced from the driver's seat. You groaned in embarrassment, why did you have to have a wet dream in a car with your closest friends.
“Was it bad?” you finally asked, peering through your fingers to see Harry's face. You could clearly tell he was holding back something.
“Oh Harry,” Tom mimicked your voice.
“Better than my dreams,” Harrison added.
“Soo soo good,” Sam chuckled.
This was it, the end of your life, this was by far the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened.
“Please don't stop Harry,” Harry whispered in your ear, eyebrows raised, obviously enjoying this. You were sure you were as red as a tomato at this point, your worst fears coming to life.
“Oh my god, you could have woken me up!” You shrieked, burying your face deeper into your hands.
“It seemed like a very good dream, didn't want to interrupt,” Harrison chuckled from in front of you.
You decided to keep your eyes closed for the next few hours, being sure not to fall asleep. When you finally arrived at the small cabin that had been rented for the night, prior to the trip you were relieved to be able to breath and stretch. You had stayed relatively quiet, you were absolutely mortified and you didn't want to become more embarrassed by anything you could say or do at this point.
“Y/N” Tom called. You turned your attention to him, not having heard what he had just said. “Only two rooms, so I'm going to have you bunk with Harry again. You don’t mind right?” He said the last part with a smirk and you knew instantly you would never live this down.
“Course she doesn't,” Harry chimed in, throwing his arm around your shoulder. saving you from having to respond in any way. You smiled up to him through your lashes, silently thanking him. He nodded at you and winked.
Your heart skipped a beat.
The rest of the night was uneventful. Sam whipped up a quick but delicious dinner before the five of you went to your sleeping areas. Tom and Harrison took the bunk room, Sam settled with the pullout bed, leaving you and Harry to share a full sized bed. It would be a snug night.
“You okay darling?” Harry asked as he settled into the bed next to you, you were trying to not let your mind wander. Sleep, you were going to just sleep tonight.
“Other than being mortified, I'm alright,” You mumbled as you rolled onto your side facing away from Harry.
“Because of your dream?” you felt him shuffling on the bed before his hand reached out gently resting on your hip. “You can't control the things your subconscious comes up with. Honestly it was flattering,”
“Seriously?” you asked, face deadpan. As you turned to look at him. He raised his eyebrows at you. “It wasn't my subconscious Harry, yes i happened to be asleep, but i have been having these thoughts for weeks. Imagining you stripping me naked and having your way with me. Every time you touch my leg, I hope your hand will travel between my thighs. I'm longing for you to scratch an itch I wasn't even aware I had,” you took a deep breath and then realized what you had just said. “You're my best friend, I'm not supposed to be thinking like this,” You went to turn back around, but Harry reached out grabbing your waist. Before you even had a second to respond you felt Harry's lips crash into yours. His fingers gripped onto your waist, pulling you closer as he kissed you, you of course reciprocated, your hands rested on his chest as he pulled your body closer to his. His lips left yours causing a whimper to leave your mouth.
He moved his mouth to your neck, leaving soft kisses and light nibbles down the sensitive skin, till he reached your collar bone. He looked up at you, with lust filled eyes. “I haven't been able to get you off my mind,” He admitted shyly, returning his lips to yours. You smiled into his kiss.
“You're joking,” he took his bottom lip between his teeth while shaking his head. You were sure everything melted away at that moment. Your arms went around his neck as his arms went around your waist closing any distance that was between the two of you. The kisses became sloppy and hungry as Harry's hands slipped under your shirt. The feeling of his fingers on your bare skin sending a wave of excitement through your body. “Harry,” You moaned as his lips ghosted over the skin on your neck.
“Tell me what you want love,” his voice was deeper than normal, and filled with lust making you shiver.
“Touch me please,” You nearly begged him. He raised one eyebrow before letting his hand that he had moved to your cheek travel unimaginably slow down your body.
“Where do you want me to touch?” He asked you as his hand made its way to your breast, cupping it and feeling around over your shirt until he had the bead of your nipple between his fingers gently rolling it. You gasped at the sudden stimulation. He lifted your shirt replacing his fingers with his mouth letting his tongue roll it around while his hand glided down your stomach stopping just before the waistband of your pajama bottoms. “Can I?” he asked coyly.
“Please,” You let out as his hand slipped down past your pants and your undies. His fingers gently glided through your soaking folds, before finding your bundle and rubbing it lightly in a circular motion. You let out a moan at the action.
"Take it off for me," Harry said as he pulled his hand away from you.
You began to shake slightly your eyes shooting open, was this seriously happening a second time in the same day? You looked over to see Harry propped up on his elbow next to you, his features illuminated by the moonlight streaming through the curtains. His grin was undeniable.
“Please, i don't even want to know,” You groaned as you buried your face deep in the pillow.
“Oh but I want to know,” He said as he ran his fingers down your spine. “Please tell me what I am doing in your dreams to make you make those noises?”
You lifted your head, looking at him. You could tell him everything and maybe he would feel the same and actually act on your wild dreams, or you could pretend not to remember and hope this never happened again. He leaned in closer to you and his lips brushed against your earlobe. “Tell me how I'm making you moan like that in your pretty little head,” he whispered.
You let out a gasp, at his sudden close proximity to you. You could already feel the juices pooling in your panties.
“Well,” You gulped. “It usually starts with you kissing me,” His grin grew as he leaned in, letting his lips nearly touch yours. You were sure you were about to melt.
“Just like this?” he whispered, not actually connecting your lips.
“Y.y.yeah,” you stuttered out, your mind going wild at what was actually happening.
“And then?” he asked, licking his lips as he stared into your eyes.
“You move to my neck.” He moved his hand so it was on your neck, his fingers brushing up and down your skin.
“Kissing, sucking, or biting?” he asked. You nodded to him, unable to think about anything. He flashed you a smile before moving his lips down to your neck, barely kissing your skin.
“What's next?” he asked into your skin, not moving his lips from where they were peppering the most gentle kisses.
“Either you touch my boobs or go down lower, but then i always wake up,” you admitted, your voice breathy and uneven. Harry lifted his head from your neck with wide eyes.
“You're telling me that's as far as it goes and I have you making noises like that?” The shock on his face and in his voice was cute, and you couldn't help but giggle at him.
“Yes,” you said coyly, a serious blush spreading across your cheeks.
"How long have you been having these dreams y/n?" He asked you quietly. You felt your breath hitch and you didn't want to admit to him that this isn't a new thing, your attraction to him has been a thing for years. You shook your head, not wanting to answer the question. “How long?” he repeated.
“Months,” You whispered, barely audible, But by the cocky look on his face you could tell he had heard you loud and clear.
“And you have never said anything, because?” He asked as he placed his hand on your stomach slowly sliding it down.
“I didn't think it was appropriate,” You mumbled, as you watched his hand as it slipped between the hem of your pajamas and panties. You let out a gasp as his fingers slid up and down your panties.
"So wet, and for what? I haven't even done a thing," Harry teased. You couldn't believe this was happening, especially after the day you had. To say you were embarrassed was an understatement, but in this moment you could care less. "Tell me what you want me to do," he told you as he rubbed you over your panties.
"If we're being honest Harry, all I can think of is how you would feel inside of me," as soon as the words left your mouth you were shocked at yourself, unsure of what exactly had come over you.
"Let's find out then princess," he whispered as he grabbed your pants and panties and peeled them off your body. You felt exposed laying sans bottoms in front of Harry, your friend, who you had feelings for. He reached down, running a finger through your slick folds, and then bringing it up to his mouth. The motion alone was enough for you to nearly die, the idea of Harry tasting you was unbelievably hot, and judging by the obvious bulge in his pajama pants, he agreed.
You reached out to palm him through the fabric of his pants, and as soon as you made contact he let out a quiet groan before pushing you down onto the bed, and finally connecting your lips.
Kissing Harry was everything you expected and more, his lips were soft and gentle all while being rough and hungry for yours. He kissed you with such passion you were sure this had to be yet another dream. It wasn't until you managed to push his sweats halfway down his thigh, revealing his hard outline in his boxers that you were fully sure this was in fact happening.
He moved his lips from yours and down the entirety of your body, focusing a little on your breasts, being sure to pay each one the equal amount of attention, until finally making his way to right above your heat. This was always the part you would wake up, never having experienced Harry between your legs, tongue at work while his curls tickled the inside of your thighs, just the thought of wrapping your fingers in those unruly curls to hold him closer to you made your mouth salivate. When he finally dipped his head down, running his tongue all the way from your entrance to your clit you let out a loud moan, forgetting that the three others were only separated by thin walls. The noises you were making were like music to Harry's ears, telling him he was doing a perfect job, and once your fingers grasped at his hair and began to tug tightly he knew you couldn't get enough of his tongue. He moved his hand from where it had been resting on your knee, slid it up your thigh slowly until his fingers were able to tease your entrance while his tongue focused all on your sensitive nub, drawing circles and flicking it so perfect that once his finger went inside it only took you about two brushes against your g spot for you to completely let go, and Harry rode that shit out, not stopping his precise movements until your moaning and gasping had quieted a little.
He pulled away from you, face glistening in the moonlight with a mixture of your orgasm and his saliva, he wiped his face with the back of his hand before crawling over you, and kissing you again. This kiss was different, more soft and gentle, still with purpose but unlike the first it seemed rather intimate, Harry let his body sink down onto yours, his clothed bulge brushing your sensitive nub while he continued to kiss you.
"Harry," you moaned into his lips, as you hooked your fingers in the hem of his waistband.
"We'll get there baby," he said brushing a few loose strands of hair from your face. The unusual pet name towards you just made your want for him grow. Harry Holland was to good for this earth, too good for you, yet here he was, fueling your fan fiction fantasies, and he was doing it so well you could almost forget that once this was over, you would go back to just being friends, and nothing more. Cause if you were sure of one thing it was that despite your ever growing feelings for Harry, he was not one to develop feelings, in the years you had known him you had never seen him be in a relationship. Which made you think he just wasn't interested.
With his hips grinding against yours while the two of you kissed for what felt like forever you could feel the ache building back up, needing more of him, needing to feel him. He disconnected your lips, pushing himself onto his knees so he could pull his boxers down, his cock which was oh so yummy slapping up against his stomach before he grabbed it and pumped it a few times. "You sure?" He asked you. Eyes full of worry. Once you did this there was no going back, even though your heart would probably break knowing he would never be yours.
"Never been more sure of anything else," you told him. He flashed you his giant Harry smile before lining himself at your entrance, his cock teasing you as his eyes were focused on your face. He wanted to see your reaction to him, to see how he made you feel. He pushed in slowly, giving you ample time to stretch to his size, though with how aroused you were you didn't need all that much. When his hips were flush against yours he started to thrust in and out, slowly at first, bit then harder and faster, stroking your spot with every thrust. The noises coming from the two of you sounded like they were out of a porno, skin slapping against skin, moans escaping from your lips and groaning from him as he pounded into you. After a few minutes of that he brought his hand down between you, letting his fingers rub circles on your nub, it wouldn't take you long now.
"Harry, 'm Soo close," you moaned, your fingers digging into the skin on his back.
"Me to baby, me to," he mumbled as he sped up his rhythm. When the cord finally snapped you felt a wave wash over you, of complete and utter euphoria. You felt Harry twitch inside you before slowing his thrusts down and falling onto your body. Your pretty sure you blacked out for a bit after that, cause when you finally open your eyes, the sun is streaming through the curtains and you are snuggled up against Harry. For a second you're worried it was just a dream, until you notice you are both still sans clothes under the sheet.
"Morning," Harry mumbles, eyes still closed.
"Good morning," you say quietly, not sure what's going to happen from here.
"Last night was amazing," he says after a few excruciating seconds. You giggle and nod your head, afraid that your word will betray you. "I've been waiting for that for years," he adds. Your eyes grow wide as you prop yourself up to look at his face.
"What did you just say?" You demand. His eyes flutter open and look directly at you, a smile on his face.
"I have been waiting for that for years," he repeats matter of factly. He could see the shock written on your face, so he reached out to grab your hand, interlocking your fingers. "You didn't honestly think I didn't have feelings for you did you? Why do you think Tom and Haz were always forcing us to bunk together?" You think back to all the times where the other three boys would group you and Harry off, leaving the two of you alone, and suddenly it all makes sense.
"You like me?" You ask, a smile spreading on your face.
"Baby, I'd be crazy if I didn't," he whispers, leaning up to kiss your lips.
Right then the door flies open and an irritated Tom, Harrison, and Sam are stood in the doorway. You're fully aware of your naked state now, clutching the sheet to cover all the exposed parts of your body.
"You guys were SO loud last night," Harrison says looking back and forth between the two of you. You mumble a sorry, completely embarrassed, until Tom starts to laugh.
"It's about time," he says, walking over and patting Harry on the shoulder before the three of them disappear back into the main area of the cabin.
"Whoops," Harry laughs, placing a kiss on your temple. You look up at him and can't help but smile.

Touch
Tumblr media
Pairing: Luke Patterson x reader
Summary: Luke’s spirit is brought down by the pain he has caused his parents as well as the hardships that come from adoring you, a lifer. He craves your touch but his ghostly form keeps him from getting the thing he most desires to recieve.
Word Count: 1.7k
A/N: First fic! Sorry that it's kind of long. I don’t know if this would be considered “angsty” but it is kind of sad in the beginning but trust me it becomes really sweet at the end!
Julie and the Phantoms was such a good show. I loved how the writers and Charlie showed that despite how positive Luke was, he was harboring a lot of pain inside when it came to how he left him mom that he didn’t show anyone. This piece touches on that point a little bit more. If you would like to leave a review, that would be super appreciated. I’m sure there are a bunch of grammar errors anyway.
-
Luke came to you after he left Julie at his parents house. He told you about the song to his mom, about how his parents still celebrated his birthday after all these years. He told you about the grief he felt and how he felt like he had no one. You told him that he had you, and Julie, and the guys most importantly, that you were sure they missed their family members too. He admitted to you though, that both Alex and Reggie avoided talking about their family, it was one of the only things that they weren’t being honest about with each other. He said he couldn’t be the one to bring it up.
“I’m the strong one!” He explained. “If I don’t push them forward, they’ll fall apart. I have to be happy, I have to be okay so they-“
“It’s okay not to be okay all the time, Luke,” You interrupt him, then you send him a sympathetic smile as you come to a realization: “I didn’t know you put all this pressure on yourself... I’m sorry. Come here,” without thinking you motion him forward, arms reaching to grasp his back, only catching handfuls of air.
Luke gives you an exasperated laugh, in the heat of it all, he almost forgot for a second himself.
“Well, this is a strange little relationship we have, isn’t it?” Tears swipe down his cheek.
“Luke...” you didn’t know how to respond, you cursed yourself for making the situation worse.
“I’ll see you tomorrow. Or whenever. Alright?” His words were short as he forced a smile and disappeared from your sight.
You woke up from your haze and caught your eyes staring out the window, looking at the boy you were just thinking about. He sat on an old brown chair right next to the garage door. Julie took some down that hung from the garage ceiling a few nights ago for him. She said she got tired of seeing Luke crouching down on the concrete like a sad lost puppy.
“Why don’t you just stop avoiding him and finally go down there?” Julie sighs. “Maybe you’ll have better luck than me.”
“Than all of us.” Alex chimed in.
You were hesitant but as Julie pushed you to the door it seemed as if you had no choice.
“You’re our only hope.” Reggie said with a sad smile, echoing a quote from his favorite franchise.
As you walked toward Luke, his gaze on the night sky never faltered.
“You don’t have to say anything... Just want to be with you. Alright?” You said softly as you sat down on the chair next to him. You decided you were only going to keep him company, not dwell on what happened. You remembered what he said about always having to be the strong one, you guessed that’s what you were trying to do now.
He only slightly nodded, not wanting to look you in the eye. He was surprised you’d finally come. Everyone, Reggie, Alex, and Julie had come to sit with him from time to time, getting nothing out of him. He sort of wished you finally would show up but now that you’re here, he couldn’t say anything despite how much he wanted to. He tried to urge the words to his tongue but his apprehension kept them stuck inside his brain. He bounced his knee, his frustration as well as your closeness was getting to him.
He knew he shouldn’t have been ignoring you, you must’ve felt as bad as he did but he needed some time to think. Maybe just a day, he reasoned, just to go through the motions by himself and then wake up going back to his easy going self again the next morning. This is what he told himself, yes, but then a day became another, and then another.
It surprised him, how out of it he was. Usually, it was so easy for him to find the courage to remain optimistic but right now he just felt like a disappointment. He was usually able to thrive upon this fact, a 90s misfit, nowhere to go but up. He loved the idea that one day his band’s talent would shine so brightly everyone would have no choice but to see their beauty. And it didn’t come from anger, Luke was never a resentful person, it came from a place of purity. He wanted his music to make people feel connected; understood, just like it had for him. Or like it has for him up until now. He hadn't been able to play in days.
The bittersweet melody of Unsaid Emily became the mantra that invaded his brain this past week. Every time the song came to an end, his mind replayed the lyrics again, and again; an endless loop. And with that came the images of his parents, blowing out a birthday candle with misty tears in their eyes, thinking of their boy they believed they lost forever. And then there was you, of course. The prettiest girl he’d ever seen, who laughed at his confusing metaphors, and built him up when he was feeling down which was something he usually had to do for others. Ever since he met you, you were there for him in a way no one else had been. The thought almost relieved his pain. Could this truly be love? He had dated around before but never had he been in a real relationship. After finding the guys, the band was all he thought about, the only connection he felt he needed. Plus, he just had to prove to his mom that he could make it, and that took all of his attention. Another mistake, he thought.
Once again he revisits the memory of your arms going through him. Not only could he never apologize to his parents but he couldn’t even love one of the only people on Earth who could actually see him the way he wanted to. Never had he felt so completely helpless. He wanted you to know that he didn’t want to give up. He needed you to know that you were enough, but he was fearful to try anything despite how desperately he wanted touch. He even counted the ways he could do it in his head: perhaps he’d lightly stroke your knee, softly rub his thumb on your intertwined hands, maybe brush your hair behind your ear with his fingers lingering till he felt the last strand of hair slip away. Or maybe, just maybe, he’d even give you the softest kiss. One so pure and light, because while he was a ghost, he thought of you as an angel and he believed an angel deserved a touch just as delicate, but he couldn’t. He was dead.
It had been an hour of you two sitting in silence. You stared at him and sighed. You thought he was beautiful. You could go on endlessly about the physicality of that beauty but what really tugged on your heart was what was inside. His mind, his body, his soul, that was bound in optimism. You’d never seen anything like it. Right from when Julie met him, she told you, he put the realization of being dead, of being a ghost, behind him just to help her become a part of the music program again, giving her the words of encouragement, it’s a closed door, but you’ve gotta bust it open!
You felt terrible that you were a part of the reason why his spirit was currently crushed. You desperately wanted touch. You wanted him to know you were there for him but you knew words weren’t enough.
Screw it, you thought. You were going to try again and even if it didn’t work you were ready to tell him that you didn’t care, that seeing was all you needed to be with him. You wanted him to know that you weren’t giving up. You needed him to know that he was enough, fear wasn’t going to stop you.
You reached for his knee. Trying to touch the tips of his hand that laid there with yours, ready for the sensation of air to swoosh between your fingertips but then, just then, you... felt. First it was the tips of nails, then fingers, and as he turned his hand, eyes bulging wide, you felt his palm. You held it there for a second, soon sliding your palms together, you intertwined your fingers with his. You were actually holding hands.
Luke’s mouth went agape and you met his eyes, sharing the same look of disbelief. Seeing a tear roll down the right side of his face you realized your emotions mirrored his as one dripped down on the left side of yours. He wiped it away with his thumb, gripping your face a little more roughly than he intended to, the excitement apparent in his shaky hands.
He soon loosened his grip, now caressing your cheek, creating friction as he rubbed back and forth, replacing the chill of the night air on your skin with warmth. His fingers, then moved to your chin, then he poked your nose, brushed his fingertips against your eyelashes, till he finally rolled them against your lips, slowly. He couldn’t believe he felt you. The feeling was something even a dream couldn’t conjure up, something that even he couldn’t describe in a lovely song lyric; this was perfection; this was, indeed, love.
This revelation brought with it courage and with that he finally willed himself up off that chair and yanked your arm that was connected to your still intertwined hands with it and at once you became one with a hug. One so fierce and tight you couldn’t breath, his arms crushing your shoulders, his hands caressing your head, his fingers falling on the strands of your hair.
With one arm still around you, he moved one of his hands against your cheek once more, connecting his forehead to yours. You both relished in the closeness, breathing each other in.
“If I ever cross over, I bet this is what heaven feels like,” he said in a soft whisper, finally breaking the silence, but only adding to the moment’s loveliness. “I think you’re connected to my soul.”

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Everyone knows Eddie Kaspbrak is a nervous kid but Y/N, Eddie’s sister is even more of a scaredy-cat. Henry and Patrick could smell your fear a mile away. It’s the day before Halloween and the town of Derry is celebrating their annual haunted house attraction. Typically the last walk-through is at midnight, but Henry and Patrick have an alternative plan for their easily scareable victim.
It’s the middle of the afternoon and all anyone at school can talk about is how terrifying the haunted house attraction is going to be. I sit at an empty cafeteria table alone working on my history homework when suddenly I feel a hand grab my shoulder. I practically jump out of my skin, already feeling on edge from all the Halloween talk. I abruptly turn around to face whoever is behind me. To my surprise, it is Patrick Hockstetter and Henry Bowers. I shiver feeling the mixture of Patrick’s cool metal rings and callused hands slide down my arm, gently caressing my sides. I try to lean forward to escape his unwanted embrace, both of them still snickering from my startled reaction. “Holy shit dude, you weren’t kidding she is worse than her wimpy brother.” Henry chortled. I look up at them with a confused expression which only makes Patrick look even more satisfied. “That's right Y/N, I’ve been watching you...studying you....taking a few notes.” Patrick takes a dramatic pause, grinning before continuing; “ I’ve learned a lot of interesting things about you. Like what your fears and phobias are, and what scares you the most- which is a lot coming from you.” Henry chimes in “We noticed the way you glance over your shoulder when you’re all alone, and how you quickly turn on a light when you get home so you’re not in the dark for long.” My eyes widen in shock, realizing they’ve been stalking me without me even knowing it. I finally mustered up the courage to speak but unfortunately for me, my voice dripping from uncertainty and apprehension; “What do you guys want?” With a playful smirk, Henry grabs a chair and turns it so the back of the chair is facing me, resting his arms over it as he sits down. Patrick takes a seat directly next to me but slings his arm around my side, trapping me against him and the table. Henry, never breaking eye contact, finally speaks up first. He licks his lips before leaning in close, his voice full of malice, “We just want to spend time with you. Be ready by midnight we’re picking you up.” They both begin to stand up and walk away but Patrick slowly turns back towards me, “Oh and Y/N... that’s an order.” With that, they both exit the cafeteria leaving me trembling in fear.
I anxiously get ready knowing they will be here in another 10 minutes. I told my mother I was spending the night at a friend's house. Eddie had already gone to his sleepover at Richie’s house so I couldn’t even warn him about my whereabouts for the night. As I finish getting ready, I can’t shake the uneasy feeling that I’m being watched. I chalk the feeling off thinking I’m just being paranoid at this point. I walk into my closet to grab a jacket. When I reach for the pull string to turn on the light, of course, the lightbulb is dead- just my luck. I begin to slide each jacket down the rack trying to find the one I want when suddenly something-or someone grabs my wrist causing me to scream in terror. I pulled my wrist back with such force that I stumbled backwards falling on my ass. I try to scoot back to get away from whoever is now slowly approaching me. The tall dark figure slowly emerges from the dark closet, stepping into the light of my bedroom. My eyes widened in both panic and shock seeing Patrick standing there with an eerie smirk plastered on his face. In a mocking tone he says “You ready princess? It's time to go.” Still sitting on the floor with my back up against my bed, I then feel someone squeeze my sides from under the bed. I let out another blood-curdling scream as I jolt forward frantically crawling towards Patrick now, not knowing where to go anymore. I distinctly hear Henry’s laugh from under the bed sounding satisfied that his little prank was successful. “Fuck, it’s a good thing your mom is such a heavy sleeper.” He says in an arrogant tone. Patrick flashes him a knowing smirk adding to Henry’s observation. “Yeaaah. I’m sure those pills probably helped, too.” This made both guys laugh hysterically. “What?! What did you do to my mother?!” I ask in utter disbelief and confusion. “Ohh calm the fuck down, she’ll be fine she’s just having a good...rest.” Patrick says now guiding me by my shoulder towards the door to leave the house now.
We walk out to a blue car sitting outside the front of my house; Belch in the driver seat, chuckling. After about a 15 minute drive, we finally arrived at our destination. I had no clue where these two psychos were even taking me up until now. I look up and see a nightmarish haunted house attraction. However, for a place that is so popular in Derry, especially the night before Halloween- not a soul is around. I hesitantly step out of the car; Belch giving me a big taunting smile from his place in the car. “Good luck, Y/N” and with that, he sped off.
I try my best to be brave but my facial expression and voice says otherwise. My eyes nervously look around taking in the scenery, the palms of my hands are sweaty, and I feel a lump in my throat as I try to swallow. “W-W-Where is e-everyone? Why is n-n-nobody here?” I instantly begin to blush as they laugh at my shaky, nervous voice. Patrick’s smirk begins to grow into a wider smile as he becomes giddy in excitement, unable to stand still in one place. He jumps in front of me, facing my direction as he holds my shoulders. I glance over at Henry who is looking over at us with a knowing smirk. “That is the best part...you’re gonna love it Y/N; It’s gonna be a scream!” I continue to feel uneasy since Patrick still hasn’t answered my question about why no one else is here. Finally, Henry speaks up. “Let’s just say the Bower’s gang gets special treatment when it comes to getting what we want. Now we have the whole place to ourselves.” My stomach sinks realizing they probably terrorized the poor workers into closing the attractions. Patrick grabs my hand forcefully pulling me into the makeshift haunted house building. I tried to dig my heels into the ground to stop us but that obviously didn’t work as he is much stronger and taller than myself. Even if it did work, Henry would be right there to catch me so there is no use in trying to escape them.
Henry takes the lead opening the black curtain into the house, revealing a long dark corridor. The only light source illuminating the path was from the moonlight. I look up at Patrick who is on my left side. With pleading eyes I begin to mouth the words ‘no’ over and over again at him. He just smirks and shoves me forward. I clutch onto Patrick's arm as the three of us venture down to the first room...a Medical Experimentation Chamber.
As I walk into the room I frantically begin to look around at my surroundings. The room is dimly lit yet there are disorienting strobe lights flickering, blinding me. I squint my eyes to focus on my surroundings better. It looks like there's a lot of twists and turns ahead. I see medical tables equipped with thick straps and buckles for restraints. Alongside these tables is medical equipment that looks dented and rusty...or is that blood?. In addition to the visual distractions, there are deafly loud sound effects of patients screaming and the sounds of surgical tools being played on a loop. I was so distracted by my surroundings that I didn't notice Patrick trailing behind me. He proceeds to pick me up from behind and lays me down onto the medical table. Henry walks over and holds me by my arms and legs so Patrick can strap me in. They both back away from me laughing as I see someone enter the room. The man that walked in was dressed as a surgeon in all white, I could see he was covered in blood. My eyes widen in hysteria as I notice his facial features. His eyes were very sinister, his nose looked as if it was broken with a gashed cut on the bridge of his nose with a jagged hack job of stitches. My eyes began to fixate on his mouth which was spread wide and sewn into a gruesome smile. His teeth were jagged and sharp. As he leans down towards me, lowering his surgical tool; I begin to scream and thrash against my restraints. Suddenly everything becomes pitch black and the deafening noise vanishes. The only noises left in the room were the sound of me screaming and crying along with Henry and Patrick laughing their asses off. The room became dimly lit again as Henry began to undo the restraints. As he works to unbuckle me I frantically look around trying to find the surgeon who was just in here, but suddenly disappeared. I sat up slowly trying to compose myself although my body is trembling excessively. Patrick gave me no breaks as he continues to push me forward towards the next room...The SlaughterHouse.
As we walk into the next room, I am desperately holding onto the back of Henry’s shirt begging to go home. I can hear him chuckle arrogantly as he feels me gripping his shirt. Patrick whispers in my ear from behind, his hands placed firmly on my hips, “But the fun is just getting started princess.” I take a deep breath before asking no one in particular, “Can someone hold my hand? ..Please?” My voice filled with terror and practically pleading. They both look at each other at the same time, laugh and respond with a mocking as they imitate my voice- “noOoO.” I look down at my feet feeling so small until I can hear what sounds like metal clanking together- echoing louder and louder. I completely stop dead in my tracks, my legs feeling so wobbly as we enter a room with hooks. So many hooks with prosthetic pigs hanging on them! I hear Patrick from behind me chuckle and say in a taunting sing-song type voice, “Come on Y/N~ keep moving.” Henry looks at us, laughing in amusing sporting that same smirk that never left his face. Henry slowly approaches me with a mischievous glint in his eyes. His voice is low and cold, “ Hey Y/N ever wonder what it felt like to be a pig hanging on a hook?” My eyes widen as he says this and I quickly try to make a run for it but Patrick is fast to grab me before I could. He begins to carry me over to Henry effortlessly despite my squirming. Patrick puts me down then shoves me into Henrys chest. Henry then picks me up and places me on one of the metal hooks, putting a hole in my favorite black jacket. I begin crying..again this time sobbing uncontrollably as I struggle to say, “G-Guys this r-r-really isn't f-funny. I wanna gah-g-go home now. Get me d-down pleasee!” They both laugh at my breakdown and begin to walk out of the room. Patrick peeks his head back in, “Just hang there for a sec princess, we’ll be right back ~” Henry chimes in “I wouldn’t give the butcher a hard time if I were you. He hates when you struggle...” I hear them laugh in the distance as they walk off again. That's when I heard it...that's when I heard the sound of a chainsaw and heavy footsteps charging towards me. I scream so loud I start to lose my voice a little, but it doesn’t stop me from trying. A man that looks well over 6ft tall with broad shoulders walks in. He looks like he came straight out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. At this point, I’m bawling my eyes out, screaming and desperately calling for Henry and Patrick’s help. Although realistically I know the chainsaw has no blade on it, it’s still equally terrifying. The butcher brings the saw somewhat close to my face. I wince, closing my eyes tightly as the strong scent of gasoline invades my nose, along with a faint musty smell coming off the chainsaw, as well as the man in front of me. I brace myself for the impact which never came. I opened my eyes to see the man lowering the chainsaw instead. I let out a sigh of relief thinking he is going to let me down but instead he pulls out a blindfold. At this point, I can literally hear my heartbeat pulsating through my ears. I’m trying to kick aimsley now that can't see anything. That’s when I feel someone grabbing at my legs. My blindfold drops down as I see Patrick looking up at me with his famous smile. Henry begins to get me down as he mockingly says, “I told you he hates it when you struggle, didn’t I?”
I am violently shaking from adrenaline to the point that they have to keep me upright, sandwiched in the middle of them both. I look at them and ask between sobs, “Are we done yet? Can I go home now? Please?” Henry condescendingly pats my head as if I am a child while Patrick chuckles and says, “We have one more room to complete and you’re their special guest...they kept vacancy just for you!”
As we exit the slaughterhouse we suddenly are displaced into a parking lot. A rush of confusion washes over me. Patrick just said there’s still one more room left, why are we outside? I shiver out of fright as Patrick rubs his hands up and down my arms, his head tilted as he looks at me with a teasing smirk. Henry nudges me and points up to a sign which reads “Motel” with a crooked red light flickering. It reads ‘Vacancy’. The makeshift motel looks runned-down and absolutely filthy. Henry and Patrick lead me to the front office. Opening the creaky wooden door on a spring, I walk in cautiously. I quickly become distracted by several different TV scenes that display [fake] murders taking place in the motel rooms by masked men. Blood-curdling screams fill my ears, making me even more thrown off guard. As I look around the office more, Patrick takes 2 long strides towards the front desk and rings the silver bell that is placed on the corner of the desk. I jump, flinching as he looks at me smirking. “I don’t think anyone is home.” He says in a sarcastic voice. Henry shoves me forward towards the back room now. He kneels down and opens a trap door. He looks up at me, “Ladies first.” Patrick snickers behind me as I cautiously started entering the crawlspace on my hands and knees. As I am crawling forward in the dirt ground, I feel Patrick smack and grab my ass causing me to jump, hitting my head in the cramped, narrow space. Patrick lets out a satisfied laugh. “You know, your ass is your only redeeming quality princess… that and your fear.” This earns a laugh from Henry, as well, who reaches under Patrick and grabs my ankle unexpectedly; pulling me back. I let out a little yelp and eat dirt. They both start laughing again. Finally, we reach the end of the crawlspace. Patrick reaches over me and pushes up on the door to open it. I feel Patrick lift me slightly so I can pull myself out. I take note of my surroundings. That underground path lead us from the motel office, to now one of the bedrooms. As I straighten myself out, Henry and Patrick follow closely behind, climbing out of the craw-space, as well. Before I move forward I made the decision to grab Patrick’s hand despite what he said earlier about hand-holding.
Patrick looks down at me smirking but doesn't say anything. In fact, he actually holds my hand back, intertwining his fingers tightly between mine but I can tell there’s an ulterior motive behind his actions. The door handle to the motel bedroom begins to violently shake and jiggle. The door slowly opens revealing two men wearing masks. They are headed right towards me, their long legs approaching quickly. I try to back up but sadly I was still holding onto Patrick... or should I say he is holding onto me. At this point, Patrick picks me up and literally throws me onto the bed. The weight of his body is holding my legs down. As I’m struggling against Patrick, Henry walks over and holds my arms tightly above my head giving Patrick a better hold of my legs. The two masked men walk over and one of them pulls out a knife. Unlike the chainsaw from earlier, this was a very real and very sharp knife. In a taunting way, the masked men walk over slowly- one going to my left and the one with the knife going to my right. I begin to scream but it is quickly muffled by the man on my left covering my mouth. My anxiety takes over now, not able to take any more scares. I begin to see black slowly starting with my peripheral vision as it slowly covers the rest of my eyes. I begin to drift into unconsciousness. The last thing I head was the laughter of 4 recognizable guys and the muffled talking of Henry, Patrick, Vic, and Belch.
I woke up in my bed, the sun glaring down on my face. I sit up slowly, trying to remember how I even got here. Last thing I remember was being held down by those assholes in that terrifying motel room. I get out of bed and begin to stretch when I notice something hanging on my closet door. I hesitantly walked over to my closet seeing a note stuck to the door. The paper note was help up by a knife.. the same knife from last night! My breathing becomes shallow and hands shake as I read over the note. Still feeling jumpy, I jump when I hear Eddie’s and Richie’s loudmouths enter the front door. I bring my attention back to the note which reads~
I can’t get your screams or your scared face out of my mind. How about we try to recreate them in the bedroom? -Patrick
You’re my number one target now..scaredy-cat - Henry

An unpleasant surprise
I should definitely do my coursework instead of writing this fic, however the idea just came into my head and I couldn’t focus until I wrote this down. Writing this took waaaay longer than I anticpiated and it was way more spontanious... so it’s not proof read or anything, still hope you’ll enjoy it.
The idea/prompt: character is secretly in love with you, but won’t tell you because you are already in a relationship with someone else. Character however finds out that your partner is cheating on you – this is how they would react/act upon finding it out
Word count: 3637 Words (I’m sorry)
Character: Kaeya x gn!reader (in this it’s still very platonic and one sided love) Genre: Angst (?), Hurt, Comfort, even a bit of humour but maybe not, idk haha
Content warnings: cheating, threats, mention of blood and a major injury, mentioning of Dilucs and Kaeyas past, but nothing to explicit (tried to avoid the major spoilers)
Format: The first part / backstory is written in bullet points, but at the end you’ll find a fic written in the normal text format
He just wanted to drown his sorrows in peace at the Angel’s Share, but no. He had to be witness to that disgusting display of infidelity of your (hopefully soon to be ex-) boyfriend
Kaeya has known you for several years now, both of you started around the same time in the Knights of Favonius. The early years of your training were some of the most fun times Kaeya had- thinking about it always made him smile. Both of you were known from the beginning as rule benders, mostly breakers, within the Knights and if it weren’t for the influence of Kaeyas adoptive family none of you both would’ve gotten that many chances to stay until each of you proved their own worth without familiar ties.
However, in the last few years you both grew a bit more distant. Kaeya blamed himself entirely for it, after Crepus death he knew he should not have any emotional ties to anyone in Mondstadt, at first he ruined the relationship with his brother by telling him the truth. He then just tried to avoid you more and more, which wasn’t easy, because after Diluc quit his position as a Cavalry Captain Kaeya rose up to his position – only to have you as his subordinate.
It was not until you were on a mission with Kaeya that went horribly wrong, that Kaeya realised his feelings for you never were platonic, he was in love with you since the early days of training. You are his first love.
That mission was more of a secretive one, a few months after Diluc had left Mond and Crepus died, and one of the first bigger outings Kaeya had to lead as a Cavalry Captain. And the first mission without his brother by his side. The dragon Ursa resurfaced and continued to cause harm to the people of Mond, so Grand Master Varka gave Kaeya the responsibility to find that Dragons lair.
Instead of finding the hiding spot of Ursa, Kaeyas troop stumbled into a hiding spot of the, at that point not known as, Abyss order. That was the last time Kaeya went into a mission without information he himself collected and checked, because looking back it was so obviously a trap. How did he not notice it back then?
The fight was brutal and exhausting – somehow it was a miracle that the only Knight dangerously wounded was you. At least that is what the other Knights who were on that mission too would say, thankful that the worst they had to suffer from back then were a few scars at most. Hearing anyone talk about it enraged Kaeya, though he would never show it. It was because you were the most skilled fighter in that troop, even without a Vision Kaeya was sure that at your peak back then you could’ve bested him even now. But because of one of his mistakes, he did not care to watch his own back, maybe because he knew you would protect him, it was you who was injured and not him.
In that moment, seeing you unconscious on the floor laying in your own blood because you protected him, Kaeya understood his feelings for you.
After bringing you back safely to Mondstadt, and you thankfully not dying because of the injuries, Kaeya became even more distant. At first he wished to be able to tell you his true feelings after you’ve woken up, but he just couldn’t. When the healers and doctors gave the news that the injury was so severe that you would never be able to fight again, or even walk down the streets of Mond without being in pain – Kaeya thought the guilt of keeping that secret from Diluc and Crepus for years was unbearable, but the guilt he felt from being responsible for this? It pained him even more.
You stayed in the Knights, taking over administrative tasks and helping every other department of the Knights in the best ways you possibly could.
What surprised Kaeya is that you were never bitter about it. You never said it was Kaeyas fault, even went out of your way to constantly reassure him after you got the news that he shouldn’t blame himself for it (until this day he refuses to listen to you). Your smile and laughter didn’t stop after it, which he never could understand.
How were you able to be so happy and kind when your dream of leading your own troop just – vanished. To travel around Teyvat, see the world. When you weren’t able to do the things, you loved on your own, like going to Windrise to pick some of your favourite flowers.
Somehow, Kaeya thought, it was because of that guy. He never liked your boyfriend to begin with, but Kaeya thought maybe it was his jealousy that clouded his judgement.
He came into your life shortly after the incident and Kaeya remembered the first time he saw you two together – holding hands, you looked so smitten and the way you laughed when he leaned down to whisper something into your ear. After seeing that Kaeya knew he could never have something like this in his life. Not if its not with you.
Kaeya didn’t spend much time with you outside of the Knights anymore, though he would always have a conversation with you when you came up to him or he had to visit your office. Whenever he saw you outside of the Knights, you were always with your boyfriend, sometimes stopping and having a quick chat with Kaeya. Sometimes he wished you would stop being so nice to him.
Now seeing that disgusting piece of shit of a boyfriend sit in the corner of the Angel’s Share, with his hands all over some young thing made Kaeyas blood boil.
How dared he, the man who should be so lucky to have you, have his eyes and hands on another woman.
Also it’s a good thing that Diluc is not at Angel’s Share today, he was also a close friend of you back in the day and even though the friendship with Diluc didn’t survive his three years absence, Diluc would definitely throw that bastard out
Kaeya was astounded by the audacity your boyfriend had. He never had a high opinion of him but seeing that man openly flirt and make out with a woman that was not you, so obvious for everyone to see… in a bar that was frequently visited by your colleagues and friends. If it weren’t for the fact that he was cheating on you Kaeya could maybe muster up some respect for a man who had so clearly a death wish. Eyeing him from the corner of his eye, Kaeya kept observing that situation. How the hands that always held yours in public were touching all over the body of that unknown woman. How the mouth that told you sweet nothings over and over, told you that he loved you, was occupied with kissing the neck of another woman. That whole display just filled Kaeya with disgust. The loud giggles of that woman in his lap filled the Tavern and that was the moment Kaeya decided he had enough. Calmy, he finished his drink, stood up from the bar and made his way over to the table. “You surely don’t mind if I join you two”, Kaeya said in a nonchalant manner, sitting down opposite to the couple. “Oh, Sir Kaeya!”, the young woman giggled, clearly intoxicated, and embarrassed by the way Kaeya eyed the two. Quickly they both shifted, so the woman sat now besides your boyfriend. The way the cheater looked at Kaeya, it was quite amusing. A mix of fear, shock and uneasiness filled the eyes of him. It filled Kaeya with a weird sense of pride, knowing that being caught by him was something that scared him. “Seemed like you two had quite some fun back here”, Kaeya smugly started his interrogation. It was not unusual for Kaeya to use the Angel’s Share as his interrogation room – the casual setting and the alcohol made it so much easier sometimes for people to spill all their secrets. Especially when Kaeya could just be so charming. What Kaeya interested the most was if this was the first offense of the cheater or if that behaviour was a more… regular occurrence. It was at least for him the first time he caught that man red handed. Getting some information out of the girl was quite easy, she was so eager to tell the Cavalry Captain all about the two. Though from what Kaeya gathered the whole thing between her and your boyfriend was quite fresh. “You two really seem like a fitting pair”, Kaeya replied after a long ramble of that woman on how she was just so in love with your boyfriend. His voice sweet and smooth as silk, not showing how the anger inside him grew. It was just not fair, not fair to you. “Hey,” Kaeya began and eyed the empty glasses on the table, looking then back at the woman. “How about another round of drinks, it’s on me. Would you be so kind and go to Charles and order a few?”, again his voice was charming as ever.  “No, no, Sir Kaeya, that’s too kind, but another drink won’t be necessary. It is quite late; don’t you think flower? We should get going”, the cheater chimed in and Kaeya nearly lost his cool when he heard him call the woman ‘flower’. Whenever Kaeya met you and him on his patrols around Mondstadt he always heard him call you ‘flower’. Fucking bastard, is all Kaeya could think before the voice of the woman protested the cheaters concerns. “Nooo, just one more round. How can you turn down Sir Kaeya, love? Just one more, please”, she looked at him with pleading eyes and he just sighted. “Fine”, he said and with that the woman was on her way to the bar. Kaeya now hoped that Charles would keep her occupied long enough so he could find out everything he wants to know from that cheater. His eye shifted from the woman who made her way to the bar to your boyfriend who sat directly across Kaeya. Now completely alone and vulnerable, for his shield left his side. The tension in the air seemed to be unbearable, Kaeya could see how uncomfortable the silence and his curious glance made the cheater. But Kaeya knew – sometimes saying nothing says it all. Helplessly your boyfriend looked over to the bar only to see that the woman he was with was now totally engrossed in a conversation with Charles. After a few minutes, that might have felt like hours to that cheater, he broke the silence. “So,” he tried to start a conversation, clearly not knowing that he fell right into Kaeyas trap. “What gives us the honour to be invited by the Cavalry Captain?”. “Oh, I think you might be smart enough to come up with an answer yourself,” Kaeya replied, keeping up a smile. Though the look in Kaeyas eye was just as cold as the top of Dragonspine, causing the other man to shiver. “As much as it honours me that you think of me this highly, I sadly have no idea what would make the renowned Sir Kaeya sit down at my table tonight.” “Oh, so this is how you want have this conversation”, now his voice was just as cold as his look. “I don’t understand what you mean.” ‘Bullshit’, Kaeya thought. “I’ve been just curious about that woman that just sat so prominently on your lap earlier this evening, she seems to be not the same I saw you hold hands with earlier this day.” “As nice at it is that the Cavalry Captain seems concerned for me, it isn’t one of the Knights duties to pry into the lives of citizens, now, is it?” Oh, how confident the cheater now sounded, thinking he was winning that conversation. Kaeya couldn’t deny that the entire situation made him furious and that he handled it a bit differently than he usually would if he were to talk with drunk treasure hoarders. “Oh, we’re awfully bold now, are we? Believe me the Knights don’t care about your infidelity, though I guess a certain one might find it awfully interesting to know how you spend your nights.” There was a short moment of silences between the two men, the tension just rising. “Well, they wouldn’t believe you. But if you want to go and be a telltale go, I won’t stop you”, the man gave as an answer. His words did not fit his body language – bold words, but his body was tense and Kaeya could see the fear behind the eyes of the man. But it was not fear of losing you, no he seemed to be quite confident that this would not happen. Kaeya said nothing, he just looked at that man, piercing him with his ice cold look. “You see”, he continued, “I wouldn’t be sitting here in Angle’s Share with that lovely company if I thought they might believe the words of any low-rank Knight coming in their office, believing their lies. Quite sad what pranks some people want to play on them, don’t you think?” Slowly, but surely, Kaeya understood that this tonight was definitely not the first offense of that man. And he now understood why most of the Knights here tonight just looked away from the scene, not batting an eye at what was going on. Kaeya could kick himself in the ass, how did he not notice the behaviour of that rodent before him earlier? If he was so open about cheating on you that even most of the other Knights knew, how come that he did not? “And I think its just so sad, that one of the people they hold in such high regards would join in on those baseless accusations, don’t you think Sir Kaeya? I mean it would be so disappointing for them to find out that you tell them such a lie, only because you just don’t like me.” If Kaeya wasn’t a Knight, if he weren’t Kaeya right now, if he hadn’t to uphold a certain image… the floor of the Tavern would be painted with the blood of this absolute bastard. Oh, how Kaeya wished he could lose his cool. “If you say it like that, then I guess I won’t tell them a word,” Kaeya replied. “I’m glad you understand”, the cheater smiled, the fear in his eyes now subsided and he seemed to relax a bit. At that Kaeya just leaned forward, his look cold and his voice even colder. “You are telling them.” The man just scoffed, looking confused at Kaeya. “Why should I?” Kaeya now coming closer, his voice more threatening than before. “Do you really want to find out, if you don’t?”. Kaeya leaned back, smiling and at that moment the woman came back with the drinks. The face of the man was just pale as snow, the fear back in his eyes. “Oh, thank you dear”, Kaeya said when she places his drink before him, and he took a sip. If your boyfriend is smarter than he seemed to be after fooling around with that woman in public, it would do him good to do as Kaeya said.
                                                             -
Dealing with the pain in your leg was something you were used to now for a few years, but the pain in your heart today… you somehow would prefer a broken leg over your shattered heart. Your eyes were fixated on the documents before you, though trough the tears in your eyes you could barley make out what they said. What they were even for. How could you ignore it for so long, that he cheated. That he fooled around with any woman in Mondstadt willing to be with him. This sleezy asshole. The tears fell down on the paper, you couldn’t care right now what important piece of documents you ruined with your tears. How, how, how??? Why were you so stupid to believe him when he always said that all the people that came to you with their concerns must have been mistaken. Why did you believe him over and over again. You couldn’t stop thinking about how the first person coming to you was Outrider Amber, so nervous to even say anything. How you just laughed her worries away, saying she definitely was mistaken. How after Amber again and again told you how sure she was. Had you just listened to her. Then maybe you wouldn’t feel so humiliated. If you just hadn’t listened to that damn liar. In that moment you heard a knock on the door. Quickly you wiped your tears away with your sleeves, clearing your throat. “Come in,” you said, though you were shocked at how hoarse you sounded. Stepping into your office was Kaeya, but when he saw your red eyes and tear stained face, he quickly closed the door behind him. “Are you alright?”, he asked in such a soft and kind voice. Since you woke up in the infirmary all those years ago you hadn’t heard him talk in that voice. You couldn’t help it, it made you immediately tear up again. Throwing your head into your hands you just couldn’t stop the uncontrollably sobs that took over you. You didn’t even notice that Kaeya was kneeling beside your chair until he felt his hand on your back. “Hey,” you heard him say, again in this soft voice. “It’s alright, let it out.” And you did. For a while you just sat there, crying and sobbing until you ran empty. The whole time Kaeya was on your side, saying nothing. He was just there and somehow, even after you two grew apart in the past years, after all that happened – Crepus death, Dilucs disappearance and return, your injury. Even after all it did not feel awkward to just cry and look for comfort at his side. After all, you still were friends. Slowly you calmed down, looking up to him. “I was so stupid, Kaeya. So many people came to me, told me what they saw, who he was and I- I just ignored it. I ignored it all, my feelings and-“, you felt the lump in your throat, making you stop speaking. It was just too much. “You’re not stupid,” he said, taking you in his arms. It felt so good to just melt into the hug. Just trying to forget the pain for a few seconds, slipping back into the familiarity of Kaeya you haven’t felt in such a long time.
Kaeya on the other hand couldn’t stop asking himself if what he’s doing here was alright. Was it okay to comfort you, he asked. If he hadn’t basically threatened your, obviously now, ex-boyfriend last night to tell you the truth, he might have been met with your bright smile today and not that painful expression. But it was the right thing to do, you deserved to know. You deserved for that guy to tell you, although he should have told you the truth out of his own free will. Not because Kaeya got involved. “Thank you”, he heard you mumble into his chest. “For what?” he asked, both of you now parting from the hug. “For just… for being here. And for being a friend”, you answered, again wiping tears away. Kaeya couldn’t help himself and chuckled at that statement. A friend, yeah. That is what he was and what he must be fine with. However, he didn’t really expect you to view him as one, after all that happened and how much he tried to avoid you in the past. “Well, I have been an awful friend the last years, haven’t I?”. Your eyes shot up, looking directly into his eye. “No, what makes you think that?”. You genuinely looked surprised at his statement. “Well,” he gestured towards your leg. Before he could even say anything, he felt your hands cup his face and looking at him sternly. “Kaeya Alberich, how often do I have to tell you this. What happened to my leg is not your fault, please stop taking blame for it. It was my choice to join you on that mission.” For a short while you both just looked into each other’s eyes until Kaeya couldn’t stand it anymore, a sigh leaving him, and he looked away. “How come that I want to comfort you and you just end up telling me something I just can’t seem to learn.” He stood up and then he saw it. You smiled at him. A sad smile, but a smile, nonetheless. “One day you’ll hopefully learn it”, you said. “Now, to make up for this”, pointing at your leg, trying to joke, “and for threatening a Mondstadt citizen, I think you should get me something from Good Hunter.” Kaeya was surprised. How did you know? He couldn’t even ask you, you already gave him the answer to the question that was so clearly written all over his face. “He literally begged me, after telling me the truth and breaking up with me, that I made sure you wouldn’t hurt him.” Now Kaeya gave out a small laugh, partially because he felt a bit embarrassed by you knowing, but also the thought of that arrogant asshole being so afraid of him amused Kaeya. “And, what did you tell him”, he asked, now back with his more playful tone. “Mmmmmh, I told him I’ll think about it.”
