More vessel biology headcanons?

Vessels are actually really, really good at burrowing. It’s probably how so many escaped the abyss after they got sealed. They got it from both parents, and the void. Which per my silly little brain, can old be contained in round glass.

Vessels all have one major flaw or imperfection the void couldn’t remove, THKs was either a desire for perfection or being able to make familial bonds.

Ghosts flaw is an endless well of willpower. They will never, ever, stop. They inherited from their mothers conceptual side, because their will is the slow burrowing of roots through stone and the deceptively gentle trickle of water on metal. Greenpath vessels was a sense of adventure/desire to explore. And the nosk vessels all had a sense of longing for companionship which led to their deaths.

The vessels also seem to have physical flaws too? Like structurally I mean. The prime example is THKs missing arm, in the pure vessel boss fight that same arm is what they use for the void tendrils attack and by the time we fight them in the egg it’s entirely rotted off. I think it honestly was never as strong or stable as the other arm and was bound to be lost eventually. Broken Vessels flaw would be their third horn(the one that’s broken off).

Vessels actually do still have some of their own light, you can see this in game actually—even without the lantern you give off a subtle glow. I think that some vessels actually retained some of the godly light and status they otherwise would have had, only a little though.

The above idea comes from my headcanon that Wyrms specifically are really resistant to void as far as gods go, because they always dig deep and far and in that sometimes burrow into pockets of void far below the surface. They need to be able to survive contact with it in the short term at least. This nature would explain how some vessels retain minute traces of light, and why the pale king was the one actually standing at the mouth of the abyss waiting for vessels.

in fact I wonder if any of the seeds/eggs dropped into the abyss hatched young Wyrms instead of vessels? Maybe they escaped or something? I don’t think this is likely but it’s a cool idea.

Void and water don’t mix, it’s like oil and water. That’s why we float in the blue lake.

The void itself might be the remnants of an ancient sea that covered the world beyond Hallownest before the age of bright gods. It would explain the trilobite creature we see in deepnest and the way the abyss and the rest of Hallownest appear to be made of fossilized shells. Plus if it’s the remnants of the sea then it could be something like a microbial mat that’s really toxic to life? Like maybe it’s a magic microbial soup? Magic microbial goop even. Vessels are goop.

Vessels are really really strong compared to other ways of containing things, like THK held the radiance for a long ass time. If a vessel tried to contain a weaker god they’d probably just be able to tbh. Like anything weaker than the nightmare heart if probably fair game for yoinking.

Vessels also sometimes inherit the hunger of Wyrms, and looking into their eyes gives the sensation of falling into the maw of some great beast. Godseaker did call Little Ghost a wielder of nail and eater of soul

Vessels are also really susceptible to outside influences, kinda like evee if they were Pokémon. This is how Ghost can use so many charms at once but also why said charms can change them so easily.

Theoretically a vessel raised by or containing a god could take on some of their traits-either by force or by accident.

Unrelatedly THK has a voice to cry out with…

I think radiance may have eventually tried turning them into something more like Grimm is for the heart, a body for her to use and a mind thoroughly broken to her will.

If they could eat, Vessels would have a truly remarkable number of tastebuds, because Wyrms will eat anything and I feel like the white lady has ways to “taste” the soil to see if it’s nutrient rich and has fertilizer.

Finally the horns of vessels are actually their “branches” and will keep growing indefinitely unless trimmed or broken periodically, this comes from both parents. Wyrms need to constantly replace burrowing teeth and Roots are beings of constant growth and pruning.

Steph Lauter as Olive Ostrovsky

Thought process: We know Olive's dad works a lot, is emotionally distant, and Olive implies that he can be downright cold or abusive during the I Love You song, which lines up pretty well with Steph and Solomon's relationship. Olive's mom ran off, and we never get any mention of Steph's (picture Steph being introduced by the hosts mentioning her mom won Honey Queen or something). Both know their strengths and weaknesses but have serious self-doubts about their own intelligence (Steph being convinced she's dumber than she realizes, Olive never answering until she whispers the word to herself). Also I thought about Mariah singing TILY Song and sobbed.

Pete Spankoffski as William Morris Barfée

Starting off strong, they both have very stupid names that they KNOW are stupid and try to defend the moment they can ("It's Polish" / "There's an accent aigu"). Both of them have grumpy/cold exteriors, but when you get down to it, they're both just socially awkward and autistic coded but very intelligent kids that are really just at the Bee to try to make something of themselves (Barfée dropping out because of an allergic reaction at the previous Bee could totally translate to Pete having a diabetic emergency). Both develop crushes on Steph/Olive by the end of act 1 of their respective shows too, so. There's that I guess.

Grace Chasity as Logainne Schartzandgrubinierre

"But Ember, wouldn't she match better with the Catholic--" GRACE DOES NOT LIKE CATHOLICS. Also I have thought this through. Logainne is politically aware, cutthroat, and automatically assumes herself to be the most important person in the room. She takes up every project and social issue that she can to appease her dads, determined to be as perfect as they want her to be. She loses the Bee because she gets overconfident, taking a serious blow because of her pride. Grace takes up every project and social issue that she can (anti-hocoming posters and the prank on Max for example), can be cutthroat (canonically has murdered at least two men), and thanks to her holier-than-thou nature, assumes herself the most important person in the room. She takes up cancelling HOCO and is always early for school and is extremely devout because that's the perfect little girl her parents expect from her. And she'd probably get so into it she'd fall from pride, too.

Max Jagerman as Marcy Park

HEAR ME OUT! Marcy has been the top of her class all her life, to the point she was moved one grade ahead. She's popular, she's intelligent, she's multitalented, and she's peaking at age 12 and aware of it. "I Speak Six Languages" is literally her having a breakdown realizing she's been the "best" for too long and it's stressing her out. Max, meanwhile, says he knows he's peaked in high school, and therefore is making the most out of his popularity and status while he can. Like, I can picture him mentioning he's done every sport available to him and being the best athlete is only going to do so much for him in his life in a "I'm so sick and tired / of always being the best and brightest" type monologue. So when he drops out on purpose, who would he daydream about instead of Jesus? Maybe some NFL star idk. Everything I know about football is about the Chiefs (Missouri represent) and also learned against my will.

Ruth Fleming as Chip Tolentino

They're both horny, both proud of their own nerdiness, and would both ABSOLUTELY catch feelings for a competitor's sibling and immediately forget what word they had to spell. And would both make jokes about the especially dirty sounding words (to be fair all his words are kinda funny. And I DID learn the word "tittup" from this show) (look it up I dare y'all). Ruth singing Chip's Lament? Funny to me.

Richie Lipschitz as Leaf Coneybear

AuDHD coded, tendency to have the wrong takeaways, generally socially awkward even among the other nerds. Tbh that's all I got, they're matched up because they're the last ones. Still kinda fits though.

And I have less justification for the adults but here's my takes anyway

Miss Mulberry as Rona - sweet but stern ladies who've been taking care of after school functions for years

Tom Houston as Douglas Panch - he doesn't want to be there, he's as confused as everyone else (but without the hitting on Mulberry stuff he's never do Becky wrong like that <3)

LU Headcanon for Sky!!

We all know this man adores his zelda, to the point of gushing about her whenever he can. Thing is, and none of the other Links know this, he gushes to people at home about them too. Anyone who will listen, he'll talk about how great his family is!

He's also the best person to go to for comfort. He may be sleepy, but Sky is very perceptive. He knows just how to help any one of the boys and make them feel comfortable and safe. He truly loves his family and would kill Demise a thousand times over just to make them happy.

This does, however, lead to him ignoring his own needs and has to be reminded to take care of himself.

Hello!!! How have you been! I’ve been seeing you pass by our dorm a lot these days, what brings you here? Just kidding, I know the reason. You’re interested in our adorable hedgehogs, aren’t you? I totally get you, they're perfect for photos and they’re quite popular with students. Oh, something tells me you’re frowning already, I get ya, you weren’t here for our hedgehogs, were you?

Tell me, was it our flamingos? I know they’re brightly colored and you can’t find them anywhere. Since your dorm doesn’t have any animals, I understand why you would want to see them up close. Just be careful not to come on the days when we wear pink… I’m only joking. I know why you’ve been coming to Heartslabyul for. It’s probably the same reason why you’re reading this letter aren’t you. You’re waiting for my response.

To be perfectly honest, I’ve never really liked sweets, deep connections, or you. People who act all nice and friendly, people who say forever, all of them are liars. You’re no different from them, getting close to me and wanting to see who I truly am, what a lie. Or so I thought. In the end I’m still naive and wanted to trust someone, so I chose to trust you. I probably was just intrigued as to how you saw right through me. I always believed no one saw how alone I was if I kept a smile on my face, but you saw through my eyes. I guess it’s true then, eyes really don’t lie.

The more we hung out the more I felt myself change. My clouded thoughts of being alone weren’t as present as before. I saw for the first time how I had the choice of staying with someone. Which reminds me, you said that I had gotten too used to being alone and my surface level connections. I think you’re right; I don’t know anything about deep connections. After all, what's the point when they’re going to be gone sooner or later. Well, now I know that’s exactly how I lose people. If I want something to last, I gotta ask lots and lots of questions with no hesitations. Plus, I gotta make it clear to them, isn’t that what you scolded me about the other day.

How about that new NWoS trailer?!

The following will consist of an overly long series of disjointed fangirl thoughts/ramblings.

First of all this game is beautiful. And it looks and feels like a true Layton game, which is the most we can possibly ask for! That feeling of curious surroundings, weird and wonderful buildings, a town where you want to explore every cranny…the developers had previously expressed doubt about creating a Laytonesque setting in America, but they succeeded.

I was so pleased to see that the classic screen by screen, ‘point and click’ dynamic is still in place! It looks like they’re embracing what makes Layton distinct without feeling the need to shake everything up. Bonus points for including the hint coin in the lamppost; sure to make any Layton fan feel right at home! Even Luke’s comment about the gears making him dizzy brings back memories of Unwound Future. One of my favorite new touches is how Layton and Luke are visible in the foreground as the scene is examined, it looks so dynamic and expresses the scale of their surroundings! It reminds me of the rare occasions in the games that you would actually see them outside of dialogue/events (like when they’re standing by the canal outside of town in Curious Village).

Speaking of Layton and Luke, they’re both looking great!! It just tickles me to see them in a fresh look but still very much themselves. Luke has definitely grown up, and his face shape is less round, but eyes are bigger/more animesque? It just gives him this very eager, bright-eyed look, and he does seem ready to take on anything! Since our only look at him so far from the previous teaser was more of an intense moment, it’s great to see his cheerful personality shining through. Even Layton comments that he seems to be having a splendid time, and who can blame him? He’s just having the time of his life to be at the professor’s side again! (On a random side note, Luke’s satchel seems to be missing. Does he not carry it anymore? Will he be taking on more action and it would’ve gotten in the way?)

Not only are Layton and Luke voiced throughout the trailer, but even the NPC guy is! This is pretty unusual. I wonder if there will be a lot more voicing in this game compared to the others, or if it’s just for the sake of the trailer’s flow. I also wonder if we’ll have a lot of little cutscenes like when the duo is approaching the correct door. The 3D animation looks much smoother (and less unintentionally humorous/distracting) than it did on the 3ds! That being said, I’m still holding out for the iconic 2D scenes to come back!!

The music is pleasant, and definitely reminiscent of Torrido, which makes sense as it’s also a Western American town (I think). And is that our new puzzle theme? I quite like it; the “music box” backdrop reminds me of Last Specter, while the rich instrumentation makes it stand out compared to the others. (I’ve heard it compared to PL vs AA multiple times though, so while I don’t remember that theme enough to say, I’m assuming that’s true!) I really like when that lilting harmonica (?) kicks in. I do, however, await the return of the iconic chunky accordion. The puzzle itself seems like exactly my favorite type, deduction/process of elimination. How cool to see the memo and everything being utilized right on top of the scene! It reminds you that the two are really solving a puzzle right in front of them. I wonder how this puzzle might change in the final game, as they’ve already shown the answer…oh, and let’s take a moment to appreciate that glorious solving animation! I recall two-person animations being a feature of the crossover that I really liked, and it only makes sense when the puzzle was solved by working together. Just seeing those two as a team again makes me so happy!!

This is more on the random side but…Eggmuffin? I mean, Eggmuffin? Is that really his name?? I had a hard time taking it seriously every time they said it. It sounds like one of those names that would be changed in localization—but then, if any series can get away with using something so silly until we just accept it and stop finding it weird, it’s probably this one. I have also heard it speculated that it may be an alias, though why he would want to be called this is beyond me.

All that aside, there’s just something about this game that already feels nostalgic to me, even while being so fresh and unexplored. I can only think that’s simply because it is a Layton game in every sense of the word. For a longtime fan who hasn’t experienced that anew in roughly ten years, it’s like coming home.

…and that is the only reason I can stand waiting until 2025! Oh dear, I hope they overestimated to play it safe, especially since reportedly the puzzles are all finished and production is moving smoothly. But, in the end, if it is truly the Laytonesque adventure it looks to be, it will be worth the wait—and I thank the development team for caring enough to not to rush it. I’ve waited this long.

(looks like I’ll be playing through the series again to help hold me over throughout next year! Layton fans, let’s hold fast! We’re in this together!)

YOOOOOOOO been wanting to pop into your ask box for a while,,, What's your headcanons for some of the Mario characters? Could be from any game, can be any character. Imma just sit here and kick my feet :3

Heyyyy!! I've seen you a lot around here! Hi! :D

Ok, so most of my headcanons were kinda just absorbed from other people, but I do have a few of my own.

Mario:

- He's the guy that gets everyone to try new things. Sports, the Olympic games, the medical field... you name it, and he's probably dragged Luigi and/or anyone who would listen into it.

- When he's not busy saving the world he is a massive goofball and jumps between lots of hobbies.

- He's a movie nerd (wears a lot of 80-90s movie t-shirts) and once tried to get into filmmaking

Luigi:

- He wears his candy cane socks and a turtleneck shirt in every version of his design

- I reblogged a post about it the other day, but ENGINEER LUIGI ENGINEER LUIGI

- He LOVES reading, and in Mario Galaxy spent most of a lot of time exploring the library

(he also writes a bit but isn't very open to sharing)

- He was definitely called a nerd in middle/high school

Peach:

- Despite her looks, she is, if not more adventurous than Mario

- the two are made for each other and make a good team in pretty much anything

- I imagine her treating Daisy a like a cool little sister

Daisy:

- Oh yeah, and about her, she definitely wears tennis shoes under her dress

- I know they're two separate kingdoms, but I think of Toastarena as part of Sarasaland

-Also, I have no idea why, but I have always seen her as Hispanic

Rosalina:

- As evidenced by the Odyessy concept art, she plays the guitar. She plays for the lumas a lot :)

- She doesn't really talk much

Bowser:

-Kamek is his father figure, not just an advisor (I am still a bit salty over how they wrote him in the movie...)

- The Bowser's Inside Story version of him is my definitive version of him. He's such a overconfident doofus in that game I love it

-The Koopalings are his adopted kids and he loves them very much (no amount of retconning will change that for me)

- As seen in the movie, the guy is surprisingly musical. I like to think the castle track music in the mario kart games is composed by him.

- He also teaches his kids to play instuments! (I'll make a separate post for that. This is getting a bit long, haha)

So yeah, these are most of my headcanons for main characters.

Thanks for asking! :D I never really get to talk to people about Mario that much, so this was really nice.

currently craving: uhhhhh i just had breakfast, but maybe... oh yes this little pastry that kinda looks like a mushroom and is filled with hazelnut cream, its one of the best things to ever cross earth

Only Friends Episode 7 & preview for Episode 8

Wow, this was an interesting episode. And the preview... I have some thoughts....

Mew and Ray getting together specifically right now is one of the absolutely worst ideas either of them has had, which is impressive given some of the other things they have done in this show (though I would say Ray driving while intoxicated probably takes the cake because he is endangering not just himself, but other people).

Starting with that fact that Mew is stilling hurting over his relationship with Top. He is attempting to get over him, which makes Ray technically a rebound. And of all the things that have hurt Ray in this show, this will probably be one of the worst. He has been in love with him for years and is finally told maybe they can be together, making him very happy. But when Mew realizes that being with Ray doesn't making healing any easier and/or that he still isn't in love with Ray, he might decide to stop seeing Ray in a romantic context, which is going to do wonders for Ray's mental state (insert sarcasm here). Ray will feel he is being told, once again, that he is not enough, this time meaning not good enough to be loved by Mew.

I feel like Mew should have known better, but Mew is only really thinking about his own hurt right now, and thinks maybe Ray or being with Ray can make him feel better.

Second, Mew and Ray are seen partying in the previews, which with Ray's alcohol issues, isn't a great idea. Mew is allowed to grieve his relationship by partying and drinking, but doing it with Ray who he has to know is an alcoholic is not good. It seems like in the preview that it was Ray bringing Mew to these events, and people thinking Ray is a bad influence. All Ray knows is drinking, so maybe he thinks this is best he can do to help. Ray knows that Mew is upset and trying to get over Top, so he goes along with it because he wants Mew to feel better and either thinks this is a good way or its what Mew wants and Ray doesn't want to get in his way (he wants him to like him back and stopping Mew from doing something might seem like the surest way (to him) to make Mew get upset at him). Mew doesn't seem like much of a partier and combined with his heartbreak, will likely have very little sense of moderation. The problem is both of them need someone around them that will go, "That's enough. It's time to go home now" and neither of them are able to be that person for each other.

Mew has never truly understood Ray's relationship with alcohol, and part of why he drinks. I don't think he knows about Ray's mother cause I remember Ray saying he hasn't really told anybody. That is part of what drives Ray's drinking but the other part is his feelings of being a burden and worthless and his friends have never really made him feel like he isn't. Mew is one of those friends, and while I think he is a much better friend to Ray than the rest of the group, he isn't great. Mew has told Ray a couple times to stop drinking, but that was never going to be enough, and now that Mew is willing to drink and party, he will not be trying to keep Ray from overdoing it (and Mew never seemed to do that much to stop Ray from overdoing it from the beginning). To contrast, Sand knows about Ray's mother. He comes from outside the friend group and understands to an extent how self-deprecating Ray is. And while Sand lets Ray drink with him, he is far more aware about how bad Ray's relationship to it is than Mew. Sand points out to Ray himself that he is addicted to alcohol and Ray brushes it off, saying he isn't. Ray doesn't understand how bad his drinking is because its a crutch for him, so telling him to stop because its bad for him will have no effect. Sand instead tries to always stick around, maybe thinking that at least he can monitor Ray.

Mew and Ray both have their own spirals going on, which means this attempt at a relationship will be a trainwreck for both of them and could ruin their friendship.

Or maybe Mew will fall in love with him, as I don't know what happens. But is it likely? I think not.

A sudden project required you to research some past history from the Briar Valley, turning to your dorm leader for advice it quickly turned sour.

You: Leona! Do you know the best book to read for information on the Briar Valley? Leona: Oi! Puppy, why are you asking me?

  You: Because you’ve been here at the school for a long time so I thought you would know this place like the back of your hand. Was I wrong? Leona: There *points to a book* if you want to know so much read this. You: *picks up book* I knew it! You do have a book on the Birar Valley! Leona: When you’re done with it, make sure you return it to the library for me. I haven’t returned it since the first year I attended this place. You: Will do dorm leader Leona! *skips away happily*

Searching for a quiet place in the school to read this book proved to be more of a struggle than getting a book from Leona. Walking throughout the entire school, you somehow ended up in Diasomnia. Since you were Savanaclaw this was a doom flag for you. After all, the two were rival dorms in sports. Not to mention how loyal you were to Leona and followed his hatred towards Malleus. Though, the reason you disliked Malleus was mainly because he felt childish to you.

Lilia: Oya? What is a puppy like you doing here? You: I don’t know either… I was looking for a quiet place to read my book *waves it to him* Lilia: I remember when I made my report on the Briar Valley like you~ Ah youth~ You: How can I get out of this place? Do you know where the exit is? Lilia: Fufufu. I’ll show you. You: Ah, thank you! Lilia: After I talk to you about the Briar Valley that is. You: I’ve been played.

After what seemed like hours, Lilia finally came to a stop with his speech on how the Briar Valley is like. Of course, such an experience wasn’t pleasant at first, but it worked out in the end. Lilia grazed you with plenty of information to use on your project and guided you back to your dorm to prevent you getting lost again.

The hard work you put into your project didn’t fail either. Results came back with the best in your grade, even beating your classmate who was from the Briar Valley.

Sebek: How did you know so much about Briar Valley! You knew stuff even I didn’t know about! Kinnporsche arranged marriage au ideas dump

First of all I think Porsche is allowed to be as bratty and unwilling to be there as he was to be Kinn's bodyguard in the show

The back story of our boi Porsche

I think Namphung should still come from the mafia family but not the Theerapanyakuls. I think the Kittisawasds

in this world are an influential mafia family that has close ties to the Theerapanyakul family. Namphung maybe even was meant to marry one of the brothers BUT she fell in love with Porsche's father.

Her father warns her that if she ever has children with this man he will not consider them his future heirs, moreso they will be like bastard children for him and he will not spread his protection over them.

She like a badass says she can protect her own children and LEAVES THE FAMILY and cuts the ties with all the mafia shit.

But then when Porsche is 8, she and her husband die in a car accident.

And true to his word his grandfather does not take Porsche and little Chay in, he says to Uncle Thee they are a bastard children and his daughter was long dead before she actually died. So Uncle Thee takes them in, Porsche hears this exchange.

Thus his hatred for his grandfather and mafia shit is born alongside with his gratefulness for his Uncle.

That's what makes Porsche not throw him out even as he drags them down over the years, because he was the one to actually step up unlike his grandfather who rejected them.

So it hurts even more when he's the one to put them in an position where he needs to meet his grandfather because his Uncle took loans from him. It feels so much like a betrayal Porsche almost chokes with it.

Now beginning of the actual plotline

So Porsche meets with his grandfather to talk about their depts, to say he will take care of it, the old man doesn't have to worry about his stupid money. Or at least that what Porsche thinks the meeting is about.

His grandfather needs an heir was what the meeting was about. He needs someone to marry one of the Theerapanyakuls since Porsche's mother refused. He needs someone to join the families.

Porsche asks why a bastard child like him should do it. He was never supposed to be the heir, what's changed.

Apparently Korn insisted it should be one of Naphung's children and over the years the Theerapanyakul family has become so much more powerful then the Kittiswasds His grandfather is desperate, he needs the union.

Porsche laughs in his face and says he can fuck himself and leaves.

Now the grandpa relays that to Korn who then promptly says he will take care of it.

And so Korn sends Kinn to Porsche bar.

So we have the bar conversation from ep1 but altered since it's about them getting married. The kidnapping also happens and when Porsche's bag is taken off at the boat he says:

"If kidnappings are your romantic idea of proposal then I fear what other Hades and Persephone bullshit fantasies you have there in your pretty head"

Anyway they fight Porsche escapes from the boat.

This time we diverge from the canon again because Korn requests a personal meeting with Porsche and like Porsche isn't stupid, he know he can't really turn THAT one down with a fuck you. That's Korn Theerapanyakul we talking abt.

So he goes and Korn starts his manipulations, first from talking abt Porsche's mother and then at the end he hit the jackpot.

"If you agree you will be taken care of, your little brother will be taken care of, his school paid for, his protection guaranteed."

And fuck how is Porsche supposed to reject this if it's about Chay's future?

So he caves in.

Thus he and Kinn become engaged.

And I would like the engagement period to actually last for some duration of the fic just because.

Now some scenes that i thought of bcs of this au

Product launch party might be a product launch party that Porsche needs to attend as Kinn's fiance OR it can be their engagement party. Idk what I like more but!!! Porsche is like fuck this, fuck all of those people and gets as drunk as he got in the show, the bathroom attack happens and yes Porsche did thought that Kinn was hooking up and he was like good for him, at least one of us is having fun at this fucking party, and yes Porsche does then defend Kinn.

This leads to a soft discussion between Porsche and Kinn the next morning actually, because Kinn can't believe that Porsche thought that Kinn would cheat on him, so publicly nonetheless. He says that if Porsche wants an open relationship then so be it, they aren't in it for love afterall but he would never do such a thing so publicly, practically humiliating Porsche. Porsche doesn't know how to respond to this kindness, this soft, considerate side of Kinn, also he starts to feel bad about drinking into oblivion at the party, surely humiliating Kinn that way. He apologizes for that and Kinn just smiles and squeezes Porsche's knee.

Looking for stuff here’n’there on pegasus knight I’ve noticed Willy himself was kind of lolcalised himself both in FE16 - that we knew - but also in Nopes (act surprised!).

(do we finally know why the War of Heroes started? Eh, not exactly.)

During the Nabatean Paralogue, Rhea goes :

Lolcalised!Willy forged an Empire and wanted to unify the war-torn land.

Why did he want to unify the land? Who knows.

Poor Dumb Willy (remember, Jp!Willy from FE16 was manipulated by Seiros instead of merely “allowed her” to rule over humans per Supreme Leader’s sekrit story) on the other hand :

Which roughly means (thanks to @renisfan​!) Willy raised an army to subjugate/restore order to the war torn Fodlan.

Now we have plenty of historical examples where some dude pretends to “bring peace” but actually wanted to conquer new lands (la guerre des gaules?).

Was it just a pretext or a real motivation, hell if we will ever know, but it kinds of match (sort of?) what we already knew about pre imperial Fodlan, even if Rhea might not be the most neutral narrator when it comes to Willy, Flayn’s support with Ignatz also indicates that before the WoH, Fodlan was in a constant state of strife and conflict - with “Might makes Right” as the self-proclaimed King, how could it be any different, how could you be “Right” if you didn’t prove your “Might”?

Why was this changed then, and lolcalised!Willy only was a guy who wanted to unify the land? Why remove the part where he wanted to "restore order/bring peace” to the land?

Is it because a dude wanting to “restore order” in the land while throwing said land in a giant War is kind of antinomic?

Or is it because, during a certain battle...

Rhea actually asks Supreme Leader why she’s attacking and pissing on the peace Fodlan managed to secure, only for Supreme Leader to reply with one of her Supreme Replies (TM) :

Lolcalised!Willy started a war to “unite” the “war-torn” Fodlan when Supreme Leader starts hers to unite the, uh, “peace-torn” Fodlan ; jp!Willy’s public reasons for starting the war was to restore order in war torn land because of  Nemesis’s, uh, rule.

So on the one hand, we have someone who starts a war to bring peace to a land with constant fighting, more or less ruled by a barbarian whose motto is excitement and enjoyment “do whatever you want as long as you’re strong you’re right” -

And on the other hand we have a war started by someone to re-unify the land that used to be her country’s several centuries ago, but also to remove the lizard illuminati who totally secretly controls the world by manipulating everyone.

I can already hear some people going all yes but crust system creates a systemic violence and it must have been eradicated but somehow it wasn’t going to be because the church is BaD and Dimitri is also BaD and a centrist or whatever - but I’m only talking about the “public” reasons here why each war started

A rapid comparison highlights - no wonder why this paralogue is only on AG - how the Hresvelg dynasty lost the Mandate of Heaven, and we know a certain team really tried to soften the few blows the game indirectly gives to Supreme Leader for reasons.

But this also answers one of the biggest questions I had about the WoH, we know Rhea doesn’t like wars and conflicts. So it always kind of bothered/buggered me why she used to help and support Wilhelm, who started a war.

If Willy told her this war he is starting is to bring “peace freedom justice and security to the empire to Fodlan” I can see her reluctantly agreeing to participate and/or support the war -

(even if, afaik, Willy might have started the War of Heroes in 32, Nemesis started the hostilities the day he partied in Zanado)

- and if it implied, by sheer coincidence, ruling over Fodlan and all the lands and people Nemesis ruled over, then, well, it’s just a coincidence right??

(granted, the second Nemesis died, Willy gave Adrestia to his son Lycaon, meaning at least he didn’t want to do the “ruling over Fodlan” thing if he ditched it immediately to his heir?)

Sure, it’s kind of foolish because, uh, you can’t wage a war to “bring peace” and IRL it has way too often been used as an excuse to conquer more land, considering how Nemesis’n’pals’s former territories were included in Adrestia during/after the War, I still can’t see the WoH as anything but an opportunistic War of conquest/subjugation - against very evil evil (tm) persons, sure, and they had a lot of reasons (erasing genociders ?) but it’s still a conquest!

Still, given KT’s history and the “unification boner” this verse has, I don’t even know if in-game it’s supposed to be seen as a bad thing...

Ugh so I am going on two weeks now where I haven't had the energy or muse to write a single reply. I am so sorry y'all! I promise I still love our threads, I just can't make the words come to my head right now or find the energy to sit down and write them. I might take a little hiatus for this month, focus on doing all my favorite fall/Halloween activities and hopefully be able to start drafting up some replies.

However, I will still be around if anyone wants to do some headcanons or just fleshing out our muses' stories more. I am hoping too with a bit of that, my muse to actually do replies will come back. So please don't hesitate!

Okayy, time to finally talk about it. Kawi is an interesting character to watch. I kinda hate him, (he's getting out of that zone slowly. tis still true) but he's interesting. In the start of the show he has something of a 'Cinderella complex' minus the naive optimism. He thinks he's the victim of every situation and he did nothing to deserve it. He also weirdly feels entitled to good things as a result of it failing to realise his own hand in said situation.

Many other people have done a wayyy better job of explaining his selfishness and double standards. So, I won't go too deep into that. Now with the show in its last stretch though, there's been a surprising change. He's still selfish. Not as much as before but he's still the center of his own universe. And, the sole ownership of these time-travelling powers have given Kawi this twisted sense of solipsism (the belief that you're the only real person in the world, but in this context what I mean is he thinks he's the only person with agency in this world).

Obviously, he doesn't actually believe that others don't have a mind or choice in this world, but whenever he's in the 'past' he very clearly cares little about what happened in the previous versions of the past. He is in it with the sole intention of "fixing the future" so to speak. So the characters, their feelings, their opinions- don't matter to Kawi till he goes to the future and sees how it morphed long-term.

We've seen this in the show over and over. Even when he tells Pisaeng about the time travelling, he says "I'll fix things," by dating him. Like Pisaeng doesn't have a say in the matter? The lack of self awareness is even more astonishing because he didn't learn through his relationship with Pear in the future, that his relationship with Pisaeng might just end the same way. Like, buddy. Come on...

I doubt the show will end with Pisaeng and Kawi not being together, but I would maybe like a reboot where he realises he needs to stop being so self-centred. I already think it's unfair that Kawi gets so many chances after stringing Pisaeng along for god knows how many years. Even if forgotten, both he and the audience deserve an apology from Kawi for that.

I have a whole tangent about time-travel stories without rules and the brain glitch it causes my brain to try to figure out the continuity, but putting my logical disbelief aside, a time-travel story serves a certain purpose for character arcs. So, i wholeheartedly believe we needed to hate Kawi at the start for the story to make sense.

But right now, he still has too much power. He's starting to realise he can't change everything, no matter how hard he tries, but he's still attributing that to the universe. He's not giving enough weight to the people around him.

He's also impatient, immediately wanting to know if he "fixed the future" after one decision change, when in reality this future 10 years in the making needs to be lived in for him to realise why it turned out a certain way.

He still doesn't seem to understand why Pisaeng left after the beach that day (not really anyway) or why he's so desperate to keep him. Not to mention he doesn't acknowledge the emotional rollercoaster that he's been putting everyone around him through. (Max needs a pay raise with the amount of therapy he's been giving everyone 😞).

I'm curious to see how the show handles it (if it does so at all). But in conclusion, I will not fully be team Kawi till he stops thinking he's the only person in the world.

i completely understand where lip is coming from when he talks about thinking he has the potential to get more money in the long run than fiona but i also think that hes just kind of... being a dick about it?? like, yeah, his internship means that he might be able to get a highly paying job when its over. but thatll be in months. the one guy said that the last intern was out in 8 months and he acted like that was pretty quick. and fiona has a job that makes money RIGHT NOW. and shes actually doing pretty well with it, having the restaurant get more money than normal. shes really doing something. and i guess lip is just used to being the one in the family that actually has a purpose, but right now he isnt even making any money. hes working all day a shit job for no money just in the hopes that he'll be able to do something good when its over. and that can be stressful, so im not blaming him or whatever, and i feel like fiona shouldnt have just dumped the responsibility of carl and debbie onto him, but hes still definitely not in the right. i think the way it was before when carl and debbie and ian would always just call fiona when they were in trouble and hope that she was available to help them out was a shit thing, and they all need to figure out how to get out of their own shit. BUT, fiona and lip are still their older siblings and carl and debbie arent even adults yet, so they should still have support. yknow???? idk
