Day

I often think of the day of my birth. Did you thinkthe birth of a third girl after the frist was taken before her third birthday  to be cruel. How, out of your children, only the last has your coloring. How fate can be cruel. It took her breath and gave you two more to look after. I wonder if it was your punishment or your gift from fate. One stolen, two more given. youre oldest never knew her two sister and you boy never really getting to meet her. Then two girls, one with the goldern curls of the frist and the second holding her curse within her body. How I wonder could you look at us. Maybe you couldn’t without being reminded. So fate gave you one with your temper. You thunder mountain god. One who knew battle and saw horrors you still won’t talk about. We know very little of the past before we have memories. So I ask you mountain god will you share a little of you weight or you ear. I will whispers of the pain I have lived and you can do the same. But maybe me and you are much too simpliar in the fact I have taken lessons at your knee, On how not to share too much while share so much. How a mask of anger and lava is much better than letting the weight slip even a little. We bruid it under pleasure so we don’t have to think. THe fate gave you a daughter that was much too like you. You raised her strong and with little weakness for you knew the fates could come for her as well. But in do so you have given her creaks that she let rip her apart and fester till mold moved into her mountain. And she caved in to. She lose her light and you tried to help but you dragged her father into the madness. How did you feel as you saw her hanging by a thread but couldn’t aid her. You, mountain god build a warrior but forgot the girl inside so she came back but not fully. She flead from you and how it must of ripped you to shreds. to see the one colored like you, denied you. but bridges can still be built between mountains if there is a will. And maybe one day one mountain god to another we will see eye to eye.

Being with you was like drowning, then I came up for air.

Yes, We Can Talk

Having loved enough and lost enough, 

I’m No longer searching, 

just opening. 

No Longer trying to make sense of the pain 

but trying to be a soft and sturdy home

to which real things land. 

These are the irritations 

that rub into the pearl. 

So we can talk for awhile

but then we must listen, 

the way rocks listen to the sea.

And we can churn at all that goes wrong

but then we must lay every living seed. 

And yes, on nights like tonight

I too feel alone. But seldom do I 

face it squarely enough 

to see that it’s door into the endless breath

that has no breather, 

into the surf that human 

shells call God.

It seems as though the purpose of suffering is to exhaust us of our differences, and the purpose of love is to awaken us to how we are at heart the same. And every life, every generation, and the purpose of age takes its turn at pushing each other away, only to be loved and worn back to the one tribe we all belong. This seems even more relevant in our post-election country. For there is no they. We are they. We are each other. This poem speaks to the unity that always waits below our righteousness and insistence that we know the way. So, yes, we can talk, but ultimately, we make no ground until we listen: to each other, and to the current of humanity from which we rise and return. We only have one turn at being here together, before we pass what we’ve done or not done on to the next generation, I pray we can listen to what love and suffering open us to, so we can drink from that well and build a better world.

is formed by the manifestation in our tactile discoveries

Of which

started off with your invitation

by these words 

“ Challenge me. You must challenge me.” 

What I didn’t know was 

that 

in this introduction of intensity …

Intensity

through words of intoxicating vigor 

while

seemingly bare boned 

You

Had already high horsed your invalid insecurities 

to my radiant reality…

Reality 

made of incredible fervor in fever for intimacy 

The pressure was insurmountable in hindsight 

but the moment of intellectual aerosol - 

Challenge accepted 

Failure achieved

Value turned to chaos

Chaos ensues……. 

This was only our beginning

They say hope is fragile, A flower bending with the wind This is not so. Rather, Hope is strong Just easily lost a beloved friend you’ve now forgot. Listen carefully She still whispers softly. I am not weak. My roots are deep, My branches strong You’ve just wandered away For far too long. Fear not, my weary traveler You can find the way back. First, you must grasp onto courage, Step forward. Take a right at decision, This path will not fail. Follow optimism, He’ll show you the way. Carry on, down the rocky trail, Follow the distant light. Soon, your destination will come into sight. Do not wander off again. Or you’ll find yourself, More lost than before. Stay near, my darling, Do not forget my strength, For when the night has passed, The battle field will be lit by the sun, Shadows of enemies shall disperse. Your battle has been won.
