Some feels on a Friday

For anyone reading The Last Time, you’ve probably noticed some ambiguity around the secondary relationships/characters. I promise there is method to my madness and it’s all going somewhere. I’ve spoken a lot about how I want readers to go through the same journey as Arya does in the story and that means not knowing all the facts and learning it as she does. As a result, I’ve been intentional with how I tag this story. I also recognize that tags are crucial guiding principle for readers choosing what content they consume.

Still, I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea and I’ve had quite a few people comment that they won’t be reading, which is totally fine, even if disheartening at times. Nobody has been especially rude or anything, but I’ve still been on a bit of a defensive streak, because the story is so special to me.

Imagine my surprise then when I had an anon reader say they won’t be reading, and when I responded to them, they actually replied in the sweetest, most respectful way possible.

I’m paraphrasing here, but they thanked me for responding to them in the first place, and then acknowledging that the story wasn’t for them, still thanked me for my contribution to the fandom and sharing my *blush* talent...

I can’t tell you how happy that made me. There can be so much toxicity in fandoms, but this interaction reminded me that humans are inherently good and that we *can* have a difference of opinion and treat each other with respect and understanding.

My multitasking self periodically requires a break. It's not easy for me to just stop and allow myself to relax. Currently, I'm editing a novel and trying my hand at a short story for someone's blog where I maintain ©. The plan is to make said short story a short novel. One cannot hope to acquire all of language, not even one's own.
Language pulls, turns, seduces us with its majesty but we will never possess it,
just like how I will never possess you. No one can have anyone. To desire is to want is to dream of possession, which is simply that - a dream.
We are all dreaming but we'll wake up.
Absorbed, spun, I must accept I will never know it all in this language that serves me and allows me to dream: that one day it will not be so. The dream of living, of desire, is no more real than anything or anyone.  I could be anyone and it would make no difference. I am no more real than a puppet. If you can hear me, do I exist? Did you ever exist? Or was it simply a mirage, like dreams, like possession, like life.

It Starts -- New Novel

It Starts — New Novel

National November Writing Month, NaNoWriMo, Starts November 1, 2019, this coming Friday. Am I ready? Just about. I hope to finish my outline, today, and get to writing, (anytime) this Friday. The goal is 50,000 words, but I know I will probably add many more words until I am finally finished. Last year I finished writing in March. Going for the same in this time period, too.
