Gojo Satoru x F!Reader -> Daddy Kink
A/N: I am fucking screaming I dunno why I made this soo fluffy!!! *Pulls all my hair out* 🥹😩😩 I love this man I love this man I LOVE THIS MAN!! 🦋🩵🩵
Summary: Good ol’ waking next to Satoru over the weekend & him being obsessed with making love to you & him being obsessed with you <3
Warnings: Reader addresses him as ‘Daddy’, he also uses third person pronouns, nipple-play, missonary, breeding undertones, FLUFF!
The calm undertones of the weekend laid down your anxieties and your everyday hustle and bustle into slumber. Oh how good it feels to sleep in, to have your titan personified husband wrap his bounder like leg around you, rendering you immobile. You couldn’t possibly budge with the way Satoru’s hands are wrapped below your breasts and how he’s snuggling to his little spoon — you.
You, however, have other plans. You’re tired of sleeping in now, body demanding some movement & in an eager brawl to freshen up. Satoru seems still peacefully lulled by slumber. You’d almost feel bad waking him up… but, hey! You want to pee!
“Satoru! Good morning.” You started slow, leaning in against him, kissing his forehead, kissing his cheek. “Good morning, Daddy.” You repeated, and your ethereal, god-alike looking & power holding man stirred, brows furrowed. “Mm, morning Little one.” He cooes, pulling you closer & plush against his chest. Oh he smells divine—
“Let me go.” You chuckled, biting your lip and ruffling his hair. “Gotta freshen up, then I promise I’d be back.” You baited him, while he only responded with a groan, not in any mood of letting you go.
“Satoru, I want to leave I need to freh-shen up.” You cackled when he leaned in even more, oh if he could he’d possibly get physically under your skin. Satoru Gojo is the God of clinginess. After a few minutes of you pleading, playfully threatening & begging again… he let you go.
You didn’t take much time, but when you returned, there was your favorite iced-coffee placed on the bedside table. Satoru dressed in his grey joggers, shirtless, and also looking awake. “Good morning Princess.” He beamed with a tender smile.
Strides covering the distance between you two, he pulled you closer by your wrist, letting you collide against his muscular chest, leaning in adorably so — thanks to the height difference and kissing you softly. His lips wrapped around yours, a relaxed, tranquil humming echoing in the room.
When your lips parted, a string of saliva connecting them, Satoru leaned in, whispering. “How about some good ol’ morning sex?” You blinked, biting your lip at the bombshell of the offer. “Mhm,” you hummed your approval, and Satoru happily grinned, mirroring a small kid when given his favorite candy.
His hand wrapped around your throat, pressing the sides of it carefully, just enough to make you a little dizzy from the stopped blood flow. “Good girl, good little girl.” He praised, letting you lay down on the plush mattress on your back. Satoru was tender to you, both verbally and physically. However, not to your clothes. The sound of fabric ripping greeted your ears, impatience— after all.
You palmed his crotch, looking at him doe-eyed. “I love you, Daddy.”
“Gosh I love you too, Princess.” He blushes like a highschooler, leaning in and suckling onto your nipples, perking them up, while the other one was given attention by his hands.
You gasped, once the touch was registered by your body, the familiar touch of your lover seeping right through your core. “Mm…” you hummed, whimpering out and grinding against him for more.
“Such a greedy, greedy little girl.” Satoru teased, while you responded with batted lashes. “All for you Daddy.”
His fingers dipped into your inviting cunt; the ache soothing into pleasure when he began moving, giving your breasts much needed love. A little aggressive sometimes as he laid hickeys onto your under boob. “Mine, all mine.” A carnal groan reminded you of the intensity of his feelings, while you nodded. “All yours, always.” You soothed his rising catastrophe of claiming you.
“I want you, so bad!” You whimpered in need, clamping around his fingers. Satoru smiled, nodding. “Of course Cupcake, I belong to you and I’m gonna give it to you.” Satoru hummed, as if you also, owned him in the same animalistic way he deems ownership over you. It was cathartic.
Spreading your pussy lips, feeling his cock-head and leaky tip mingle with your essence, Satoru thrusted himself inside you, groaning at the feeling of your juices lubricating his cock. “Such- a- warm cunt. Perfect for knocking you up.” Satoru’s words poured out absolute filth, and you whimpered at them.
His thrusts began, hands intertwined with yours, leaning in kissing your lips, kissing your collarbone, marking you with hickeys & watching you squirm under the pressure of his weight & his drilling into your perfect pussy.
“Ah- hmm. Gonna- cum.” You whimpered, moaning out and twitching inside. Satoru was close too, heavy panting echoing throughout the shared bedroom. “You better, cause Daddy’s close too.” Oh it drives you off the edge when he refers to himself in third-person. Satoru’s tactic of regressing you is referring to himself in third person— and it works brilliantly.
‘Let Daddy handle it.’
‘Oh no you’re too little to be doing that, let Daddy take care of that’
‘Do you think it’s fair to Daddy when you brat?’
‘Why do you think Daddy’s being mean?’
‘Daddy loves it Princess’
You tipped off the edge, wrecked and shaky like a dried leaf with your brutal orgasm, feeling the waves of pleasure through the very soles of your feet. Satoru’s thrusts were also sloppy, needy & eventually he was defeated by his own high, convulsing inside you & painting your warmth with his seed.
“Don’t let any of it escape or Daddy’ll be testy.” He raised a brow, leaning in and kissing your forehead deeply. You nodded like a bobble-head, too dumbed down by the orgasm & regressed in the safety of your lover.
“Good little Princess.”

I think I’ve already confessed that I’m not a big birdflash fan, but there is something I really gotta point out because it’s bothering me.
I see a lot of people use specific comic panels to try and show how close these two characters are, but completely miss the whole point of the comic itself.
For example, I’ve seen a lot of people use panels from The Flash 1987 210, in which Wally reflects on his relationship with dick.
Tumblr media
The problem with this is they are literally cutting out the next part of the page that explains that they have drifted apart
Tumblr media
Wally is extremely different from dick, and once he takes up the flash mantle, it becomes clear that these two characters are on different paths. Wally wants to uphold the legacy of the flash, dick desperately wants to escape the legacy of Batman. Wally has a wife, three children, and a stable job. Dicks life changes at a moments notice, one minute he’s broke, one minute he’s rich, sometimes he has a job as a police officer, sometimes he’s dating one of his many red headed girlfriends, he’s the opposite of stable.
And that’s not to say the different characters can’t be friends or be together, but as this same comic shows, these two often struggle to understand one another once adults
Wally, after zoom caused his wife Linda to have a miscarriage, went to Hal as the spectre for help, which no one liked, including Dick. He is somewhat miffed Wally didn’t come to him, be he also sides with Bruce about how reckless and stupid the action was
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He definitely empathizes with Wally’s situation, but he’s not really there to give support. Later on, dick does start to get the point, and the two take down gorilla grod. Dick apologies for his actions and both agree to stay in touch more. Obviously every good friendship is going to have some moments of tension and disagreement, but I think this really shows why Wally and Dick fell apart as adults.
And this really is the crux of why I’m personally not a big fan or birdflash. These two characters are inherently different and it’s so rare for me to see any birdflash content that acknowledges this. They can be together in a way that acknowledges and builds off of this, but it really hasn’t been done.
More importantly, I’ve noticed that to make burdflash work, a lot of fans completely erase Wally’s character to ignore these differences. His own goals, his own backstory, his own relationships, are just gone so he can be with dick. There is never any acknowledgment of the canon of Wally’s own motivations, such as living up to the flash mantle, or any mention of his connections to characters outside of Dick.
Even more so, I think erasing the presence of his wife and kids from his life so he can be with dick is really hard on the character. Linda is so essential in Wally’s life. She is the character in which speedsters learn the importance of having a lightning rod. She is the one to often push Wally to keep going. His kids redefined his life. He literally broke the source wall in order to keep them in his life. These are essential relationships that are just erased from Wally’s life.
As someone who truly prefers Wally over Dick, it hurts to see a potentially good pairing erase the good aspects of Wally like this. There is plenty of erasure done to other dc characters because of how popular the Bats are, and this ship, at least to me, is one of the worst examples. These characters are different, and often times it makes it hard for them to understand each other. Ignoring that issue doesn’t make the ship good in my eyes.
Anyways, I really don’t want to poop on birdflash as a whole. It is by no means a bad ship, I personally just don’t really like it. It has a lot of qualities that bother me. Despite all of this though, I do love seeing people’s art of it and I actually do think it can work a bit better when they are young and apart of the teen titans. I also know as a halbarry shipper I’m throwing rocks in a glass house lmao. But please ship what you like, I really don’t care, I just needed to shout into the void about my feelings around it :)

This will be a short discussion of what I originally planned regarding yibo endorsing national / homegrown brands recently and what it all means when talking about the bigger picture. and by that I mean, the connection between celebrities in CHN & nationalism as well as the increasing tension between CHN and other countries. As much as we all wanna live in a bubble of fandom where it’s all pretty boys & happiness, real life isn’t going that way.
Tumblr media
I think Yibo knows that too and it’s influencing his choices. He had a personal experience with this — the whole NIKE fiasco in 2020 definitely was a lesson to him and his team. The risk of endorsing big international brands as a Chinese celebrity is real. It happened before and it may ( or will ) happen again. You never know what issue is going to pop up and suddenly, it’s all gone. We have seen time and again how the CCP can quickly direct these celebrities to sing and dance in whatever tune they like.
Let’s start with the biggest one he signed on to right after the whole nike fiasco. ANTA. It’s on record that as soon as WYB dropped Nike, there was a bidding of sorts on who is the domestic brand that will get him. ANTA wasn’t the highest offer, but he chose them because they are a national brand.
Then the list just goes on. A couple of these are due for renewal this year but just to illustrate which brands he is working with since 2021:
(In no particular order)
Redmi, Lenovo, Youku, Pechoin, Chunzhen, Super X, Bananain, Master Kong Iced Tea, Kelly One, Linsy, Bottled Joy, IKIDE, Helen Keller Glasses, SKG, Stride, Tokit, Chando, Unicharm, Rotai
I could be missing 1 or 2 but it’s a lot. for someone who averages 25-30 brands in a year all holding his name as endorser, the number of domestic ones is a lot.
This trend became more evident when looking at his new endorsements this year (2023):
Tumblr media
5 out of the 6 brands are domestic.
It’s the reason why I had the urge to make this post, especially with him being announced as YAYA’s chief spokesperson. Personally, the last domestic brand surge I remember was 2021 and there were a couple of articles written about that. This year, the domestic brands are at it again and tapping celebrities to get more attention. It says a lot that these brands picked Yibo to represent this growth. It’s easy to sign on to a well known brand with a string of high profile endorsers before you, so this is again, a testament to Yibo’s character. He is not afraid to lend his name and reputation to the Nameless/Unknown ( i had to reference it i’m sorry lol ). He takes into consideration not just his growth but also his people, these Chinese companies who are fighting with brand titans.
He is also the go-to choice because his good reputation and appeal to the younger generation.
I think Wang Yibo’s age is more in line with this social group. He is a very positive young man. Recently, Wang Yibo is in the process of transforming from an idol to a powerful actor. He is more in line with the youthfulness of our future brand. (quote from tailing’s president )
Tumblr media
I have taken this screenshot from an article by jingdaily that is worth a read. another factor is the general population’s preference as well. whether this is something that yibo & his team is taking into consideration, we don’t know but with the choices they are making i guess the answer is obvious.
This year too, I have noticed a shift in c-ent with celebrities being courted by international brands who thinks it’s safe (for) now to be visible in the CHN market again. I have no beef with these celebrities, you gotta do what you gotta do. International brand deals are hella lucrative and some luxury ones are considered an honor to be a part of. I mean even Yibo is very visible in promoting Chanel.
I get the lure of big brand endorsements but that doesn’t take away the reality of what could happen and that planning ahead is important. Yibo is more capable than people give him credit for. I think a lot of people underestimate his ability to look at a situation and make decisions that will benefit his career in the long run. To put it simply, if and when things go south in the political side of things he is prepared and there won’t be much of a loss in the endorsement side of things. It’s a very smart business move and you can add patriotic points too so that makes it perfect.
Yibo is really the one who walks the talk. This saying really applies to him more than anyone cause that is his essence as a person — you will see the truth in him with what he does. His actions speaks volumes. He will take a stand on what he believes in even if everyone else is going the opposite direction. 🤍
DISCLAIMER: This post is very much about Yibo if you couldn’t already tell, and my observation as a fan. It’s not meant to compare him to other CHN celebrities cause I don’t have the time and interest in making a comparison study of who has the most domestic brand endorsements. If another stan finds this and is somehow offended in behalf of their fave, it’s not my fault. Feel free to make your own post talking about how great your fave is. Thank you!

What do you think about the fab five polycule
(Dick x donna x wally x garth x roy)
i'll be SO honest i wish i had like. insightful interesting opinions on them but i've always been a Young Justice kid and sort of. breezed past consuming Fab Five Teen Titans content-
but of what i *do* know, from the few comics i've read with these characters is this is one of the best ships for Dick, honestly. it always deeply annoys me when fanon content breezes past the Titans as if they're just some distant teammates and not some of Dick's closest friends, if not a second family. *especially* the Fab Five. for most, if not all of them, it's the first time getting to actually connect with other teen heroes. so there's something fun about how sort of terrible they are at it, at first. they all care about each other a lot. but they're kind of chucked into the deep figuring out how to work with each other and get along with *very* different personalities, so it's fun to see where the conflict comes.
as a ship, i do really love it. the Titans are a family. like we call a lot of teams found families, but for the Fab Five, that shit is the truest. they depend on each other and trust each other. when Dick and Bruce are on outs and Bruce fires him, he goes to the Titans.
i also enjoy how, to an extent, all of them are outsiders of some kind. Donna is alone in a new world she's never experienced, the same as Garth. Roy is still new and awkward to living the rich life with Oliver. Wally doesn't connect to his parents well. and of course, Dick has lost his parents and only has Bruce, who isn't the most emotionally available. of course they're going to cling to each other, as the first people they can really develop connections too. they're very clingy with each other and i think that's both cute and *fun* to explore like, codependency issues with them. how protective they can be of each other, how they default to trusting each other over their mentors, etc. it's all very interesting for a polycule, especially since for most of them, it's their first real relationship. i'm a big fan of "none of us know what dating looks like bc we've had such strange childhoods so we don't understand the Rules very well. we're all just going to date each other bc why would i date only one of you. do teamups count as dates now." vibes with teenage polycules. and the Fab Five just. have that on lock. they each fulfill a different "niche" in the group. Garth is the softer, more emotional one you can go to if you're upset. Donna is the one for planning bright fun trips and making sure you don't wallow. Roy is protective and can pretend to be suave, but he shows affection through gift giving and grand gestures where words fail him. Wally can cheer any of them up with jokes and distractions. and of course Dick is the logical one who makes sure they all keep their heads on and don't drown in the responsibility.
overall i think it's a really cute ship and i do wish i just. knew more about them to be able to write them/read fic of it because i do love their dynamic. and i'm just a firm believer in the Titans being Dick's family, just as important to him as the Batfam. they're a disaster and for that you gotta love them.
#necrotic answerings#fab five#ty for asking!!#i love getting asks liek this even if on things i don't know a ton about#i think the only real comics i've read of the fab five are world's finest: teen titans and teen titans: year one#and some of the silver age stuff but only ever for the plot not for those characters specifically#so like. i know enough to vaguely understand the characters#but i did have to approach it from the perspective of dick bc obviously i know him the best#i am interested in reading more about garth. he's a little cutie. i love him.#he seems very easy to whump. you could do a lot of dead dove things to that boy.#also this is darker in concept#but i find the way bruce dislikes the titans and dick working with them pretty fascinating#bc the reasonable answer is it's the first time dick is operating outside of bruce and it just gives bruce anxiety#but the *fun* answer is: brudick vs fab five polycule#where bruce is hyper possessive of dick developing other potentially romantic bonds#or just bonds in general#so he tries to come in between it#if i ever wrote a fab five polycule fic#that's the route i would take personally. very dark controlling brudick with the titans slowly taking notice and growing more concerned#otherwise tho i leave this ship to be written by ppl who understand them more#bc i know next to nothing about a lot of them#dick and roy i understand#garth i'm interested in#couldn't tell you much about wally or donna tho#and i prefer wally as flash when i do read him. bc he's a disaster man.#i really haven't read much titans content in general i fear#i've read some new teen titans for like. slade content and whatnot#and some of the 2003 run but besides that. i was always on the yj side of the fence#that said i will say *as* a core four truther#the fab five are *always* going to be closer as a team than the core four.

I just saw that post you shared from TW and I wanted to get some things off my chest.
There’s no need to write a pathetic piece desperately trying to downplay Hanji’s impact to Levi. Erwin and Hanji are both important to him. THATS FUCKING CANON! I’m so tired reading the same “Levi encouraged Erwin to use Hanjis squad as a bait to save his life. Therefore Levi doesn’t give a shit about Hanji and is in love with Erwin.” ERWIN IS THEIR COMMANDER AND HIS SAFETY IS A PRIORITY! That's literally how the military chain of command is preserved! Hanji would’ve done the same thing in Levi’s place without a doubt. ”Levi still mentions Erwin even though he is dead for four years.” DUUUUHHH?!Of course he still thinks about him and his promise to him! All the scouts along with Erwin died to give him the opportunity to kill zeke and he fucking failed! Of course he is eager to finish the job! And for the love of god stop using the “I’m championing for LGBT ships and you are dismissing roori becase they are gay.” Girl, roori is the least dismissed ship out there. They are literally one of the biggest army of shippers out there and theres no shortage of people defending them all the time. Also, levihan isn’t a even a straight ship?! Did they miss the whole thing where Isayama changed Hanjis pronouns in the manga?I also hate how whoever wrote this feels like their personal interpretation is the only thing that matters and ours is wrong and invalid. All that shit they are presenting about Levi and Erwin should be interpreted as romantic but those between Levi and Hange no matter how emotional and intimate should not?Grow up!If levihan bothers you so much block and mute people.Do what you gotta do to keep away from the content you dont want to see!Let people enjoy hamless shit.
I have a lot to say about every paragraph of that post, but i honestly don't care for wasting my time on someone who chooses to read the manga with their eyes closed.
Remember when that central MP told Levi that Erwin is captured and will be hanged and offered to let him go if he just gives himself in? Levi said "no", even though he should want to protect Erwin's life no matter what according to them, right? Instead Levi said "Some lives are more valuable than the others.". At that moment he prioritized the lives of Eren and Historia over Erwin.
Also "he never thought about Hange" after they died is hilariously incorrect. He told Hange to "keep watching". He followed their theory that killing Zeke might sever Eren's connection to the paths and stop the rumbling. He also used the knowledge he got from them to quickly asses that the Ackermans and shifters are immune to the titan gas and lead everyone to kill Eren.
He literally thought about them as he was having his internal monologue. They were at the front of his mind so to speak and the only active character in the panels, while everyone else was a passive listener.
He saw them among every other survey corps member when he gave them his final salute.
Years later he saw a plane fly by that reminded him of the day he lost them and erooris clowning about that panel saying "HaNgE iS A PLaNe" are just completely braindead and don't understand literary symbolism.
There are too many scenes that showed Levi cares deeply about Hange and the fact he prioritized **the freaking commander of the survey corps** at some point does not negate that he has almost been hit by Zeke's rocks worrying about their safety and that he stopped in the middle of an intense battle to make Armin protect them when they got injured.
In the forest afrer finding out what happened to Zeke (because Zeke was the last thing he remembers before the explosion??) he immediately brought the conversation to Hange's expressed feelings and gave them much needed encouragement.
Anyway. Erooris clearly are seething because all they have is the promise which, although was made to Erwin, was really about All the dead survey corps members. The moment between them was nowhere near on the level of intimacy and vulnerability that 126 and 132 had. They are clearly green with envy.
When the shippes choose to talk shit about "a rival ship" rather than talking about their own content this is how you know they have no leg to stand on.
Yes, Levi cared about Erwin deeply, yes, his loyalty to him was amazing, but he has done things to Hange he has done to nobody else and Hange was the only person who witnessed him at his most vulnerable and soft and all of it was meant for them alone.

i think it's gotta be all the stars crowd around the moon <3 just softness and love and warmth <3
do you get hate on fics?
i was about to say i thankfully dont but then i suddenly remembered that single comment i got on a fine bird nests wisely KNCNDVSHAHS let me just grab it for your viewing:
Tumblr media
THIS WAS SO FUNNY BECAUSE ON THAT AO3 I HAVE A FIC WHERE CHARACTER A TORTURES CHARACTER B AT THE BEHEST OF SOMEONE ELSE, AND THEN PROCEEDS TO MURDER INNOCENT SUBORDINATES AGAINST CHARACTER B'S WISHES TO ENSURE THERE ARE NO WITNESSES. AND ANON CHOSE TO COMMENT ON PURE BIRD FU XUAN SILLINESS 😭😭😭😭😭

what are your writing strengths?
i genuinely don't know anymore bc my writing changes sm all the time. uhhh. i know how to perfectly format dialogue tags?
what are your writing weaknesses?
i hate starting things i hate too much description,, im also prone to really really long sentences, which i try to cut in half when editing, but sometimes im too tired to edit so...
thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
girl im filipino wdyt HAHA
serious answer: absolutely. just make sure your target audience will be able to comprehend ur meaning. do this by either making a translation easily accessible without extra steps, or by making a translation obsolete by clarifying the meaning within the text!
or if you're writing, say, maria clara at ibarra fic, just write in taglish bc ur readers are almost all gonna be filipinos anyways LOL
first fandom you wrote for?
miraculous 😞😞😞 ladybug 😞😞😞😞😞 i wrote a chloe fic for an english assignment it was really bad but it was my first real story ever HAHA
favorite fic you've written?
VERY HARD especially since some of them aren't even published yet. but i will have to go with, again, redder than february flowers <3

okok so. I've been cooking up something for A While, but it's taken quite a long time to figure out and steep BUT I'VE FINALLY DONE IT! so now I get to share it all with you :]
to preface: this is all hc! just me spitballing with ideas I personally enjoy, don't feel like you've gotta agree with me
so. I think about the crew's lives pre Aionios pretty often, and I think the person who most perplexes me is Taion - of course, he's the only one without clear ties to any previous characters or other existing characters in story! but I kept thinking about him and Nimue, and how they had that sort of sibling relationship to me. I already had another hc that Nimue was Mòrag and Brighid's eldest daughter, with Sena having come around later! naturally, I combined that with her connection to Taion to get him having been an adopted sibling to the two. it's cute! it's heartwarming! but there was always my other, more pressing question... how on Alrest did Taion become a blade-eater when he was only a child? this is what really stumped me for awhile, but this is what I cooked up.
so. Taion and his family were moving away from the lower parts of the Mor Ardainian titan, thinking it would be better to now live in the capital. Taion suggested their route - he had already scoped ahead, of course. unfortunately, what he didn't know is that the land they were going to cross over was taken and guarded by a very territorial village of criminals hiding from the law. so the minute they got caught, well... things turned out for the worst. his parents were killed, and he nearly was too, having been left for dead. Thankfully, Nimue had found them while out on one of her own personal adventures to get a lay of the land (gotta know your territory if you're gonna be such a central royal figure!). using the technology she had learned from Pandoria and Zeke whenever they had visited, she implanted part of her core crystal into where the boy was shot, saving his life. she rescued him and took him back to the castle, where the rest of the Ladair family took him in with open arms (and if not, well, Nimue was already rapidly becoming quite protective of him). she soon became his older sister figure, and Sena as his other adopted sister. he met Mio through the Ladair connections as well, n the rest is history :3 (not really history but y'know, they become besties, and probably go on a quest to find their missing soulmates)
ya !! that's it !! I think it's so much fun to think about their lives outside of Aionios, and this'll definitely help me in my path to eventually write a few scenes from it :]
and now, some Nimue stuff as well

for the ask game: 13, 15, 17, and 29 (sorry if that's a lot, feel free to pick and choose)
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
ok thought long and hard about this, closest answer i can come up with is duchamp? i respect the thoughts behind it / how it still makes people mad/confused to this day, but i don't like the fountain on a subjective level (theres some other work of his thats cool, but the readymades aren't usually my thing, on like a "i want to look at this forever and ever" way). also julia ducournau BUT!!!! only in the sense that her films are upsetting to me but i respect them greatly (raw is incredible, and i respect titane so so much, but it was so visceral to me that i couldn't finish it)
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
myyyy desk! try to always draw there, or any sort of table, though during the last couple months i was drawing in bed a lot (not good for your body, but good when the Horrors are keeping you in your room)
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
always have a drink! water always + tea if its midday (coffee or boba if i decide to get a fun little drink). gotta stay hydrated!
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
for meeee i enjoy podcasts but find it hard to translate that visually...like to pick an example, really like the magnus archives! and i can like imagine/"see" whats happening when its actively being described, but i still don't get how people translate voices -> looks and vice versa. i just can't make that connection personally

Okay, I gotta talk about FFXVI. This will be a text wall, you have been warned.
Of the modern-era Final Fantasy games, this one is easily my favourite. I grew up with Final Fantasy in my life, but frankly I hadn't planned on getting this game at all, since I didn't really get into XV or XIII, and I didn't have high hopes for this one. I played the demo, and that was more than enough for me to buy the full game.
The deluxe version, no less. My credit card wasn't overly happy with me for that one.
I loved the story, the battles, the music was mind-blowing, and I will be buying that soundtrack as soon as humanly possible. Clive was a great protagonist (a beautiful, loveable moron), and while the levelling up system was utterly painful, I really loved this game, and think it could easily be a contender for Game of the Year.
As for my thoughts on the ending... Spoilers below, last warning...
I cried a lot. Like big, wailing crying. I had suspected the ending would play out as it did, so I knew it was coming, but I sobbed when it happened. The Ultima fight was my second favourite fight of the game (the Titan Lost fight comes first every time; it was a masterpiece), but it felt inevitable that all three men (Clive, Joshua, and Dion) would meet their end at Origin.
Do I think any of them lived? No. It felt fairly obvious that none of them survived: Dion fell into flames after having burned his body out putting Bahamut against Ultima, and Joshua also ran out of juice, as it were, containing the piece of Ultima he had sealed inside of himself. Clive completely burned himself out, and the red star burning out at the end was symbolic of Clive's life burning out. Jill knew it, Torgal knew it, everyone else needs to accept it.
After all, that's the world he, as Cid, sought to build: a place where people like them could live and die on their own terms. Clive knew he would lose his life, but that was his choice. He died on his own terms. It's painful to come to terms with, but that's the narrative until I see something official that says to the contrary.
With the epilogue, which is what makes people think one (or maybe both) of the Rosfields survived, I personally think it's a red herring. I don't think either Clive or Joshua wrote the book: I think Jote wrote it, in Joshua's name. She did, after all, swear a duty to protect the Hideaway, whose crest is on the book's cover. I'd wager she had input from Jill and Gav, but I think she wrote this mainly to tell Joshua's stories from their travels together. To honour someone she cared so deeply about.
The only other tenuous possibility is that Joshua survived. Clive did, after all, use the aether he absorbed from Ultima to heal the wound in Joshua's chest, so of the three of them, Joshua would be the only one I could have seen surviving. But I see no official evidence that any of the three of them survived, and until I do, they're all gone.
As for DLC, I'd like to see some, for sure, but I don't think it'll be a disservice if we don't get any. It feels like we could, with the last line of the epilogue being "Where one journey ends..." (paraphrasing but close enough), but I don't think it'll be anything connected to the Rosfields. I think it'll either be looking into the lore before Clive's journey started (like looking at Leviathan's loss), or looking at things from someone else's perspective. Maybe we'll see what happens with the Hideaway with Gav taking up the mantle of Cid, helping to guide Valisthea through the stormy times ahead as they adjust to a world without magic.
All in all, I loved FFXVI. The ending hurt my heart, but not all endings are going to be happy, no matter what we may want. If subsequent DLC gives irrefutable proof that anyone from that final fight survived, I'll be very happy indeed, but I don't see the Rosfields returning to the game now.
Unless you play Final Fantasy Mode in New Game +. Then you can scream at the levelling up system all over again as the enemy levels leap up way faster than you could ever hope to.
Oh well. Back to Valisthea I go!

(SONIC FRONTIERS SPOILERS, for anyone who reads this ask that hasn't beaten the game)
You had said you were disappointed that Sage was just a creation of Eggman, but I thought I'd point out in the post credits scene, he gets her running up on that computer and the symbol on the screen is the same symbol we see everywhere in all the ruins, which Sonic asks Tails about, who said it probably meant nothing.
So did he make her? Or is she a cluster of hopes, dreams, and data that he adopted and maybe gave a face? Cuz that evidence definitely seems indictive to me that she was pre existing in the ruins in some form.
im not sure how that symbol in the post-credits scene completely flew over my head BUT IT DID!! AGH!!! Now it’s hitting me that that symbol never got explained in-game!!!
Though Eggman had already created Sage before the events of Frontiers, shown in the prequel comic.
Tumblr media
And she couldn’t be based on the ancients/Starfall Islands since Eggman hasn’t taken anything from the islands yet… which now that I reread this comic, Eggman says he wants to use the Starfall tech to make an ultimate creation… which never happens AGH NOW I WANNA SEE WHAT HE WOULD’VE MADE. What was he cooking.
Though maybe the way Sage acts got influenced by being downloaded into cyberspace? Maybe she downloaded the hopes/dreams/etc of some of the Ancients & they became a legit part of her instead of just data to sort. Thats possible… It’d make Sage lamenting while watching Sonic & Tails bond make even more sense if she also became a cluster of the Ancients’ memories, hopes, & dreams.
But then… there has to be SOME reason that Sage & the titans share color schemes right?? & cyberspace also being this glitchy red & black sometimes too? Agh I dunno 😭😭 I would say that Sage being downloaded into the Starfall tech influenced its colors & stuff, but the titans look the exact same in the flashbacks, so… I have no idea.
Anyway OOGH the idea of Sage’s personality through the game being the result of a mishmash of her analytical, eggman-created side & several Ancients’ personalities... This is seriously interesting to think about now. what’s Sage’s connection with that symbol I gotta know.
…Also this whole “view external media not available in the game to get more context” practice needs to change. Like, sega should’ve included this comic & the knuckles prologue in the game as bonus content or SOMETHING please!!!

Owl House thoughts and theories
I'm sure the fandom at large has probably already been over a bunch of this stuff, but I'm new here, the show keeps turning the wheels in my brain, and I've gotta do something to pass the time until the next episode. So I'm gonna dig into a few of the things that are stirring around in my mind.
1) Belos Meddling with Time | He has to have at least tried. They lampshade the fact that present-day Belos remembers having met Luz. So sometime between that meeting in the past and ‘Follies at the Coven Day Parade,’ Belos pieces together that the Luzura he met in the past was a time traveler. Maybe he recognized Lilith once she joined the Coven, or maybe he didn’t realize until he actually met Luz at the end of Season 1. Honestly, the fact that King’s crown was locked behind a barrier that only a human could pass through, in a realm where Belos was the only human and he was hiding that fact, feels very odd and very deliberately designed to lure Luz into helping King and Eda. Either way though, if Belos knew before or if he didn’t find out until after he met present-day Luz, he eventually realized.
And Belos, upon learning that time travel is possible, would not be the kind of person who could just leave that alone. Further to that, he has the supplies. Flora visits Lilith, saying the Emperor wanted to check on her, and leaves the box that has what Lilith needs to locate the time pools. Belos had the locating equipment, and presumably returned it to Lilith for the specific purpose of making sure that she and Luz would go back and help him. This means Belos both has the supplies and knows what they are.
Tumblr media
If he recognized young Lilith, he may have employed the compliments and confidence, showed an interest, and eventually encouraged her to bring in the time pool locating equipment. Even if he didn’t realize until Eda’s petrification day, he definitely would have had access between then and 2x12. Surely he would’ve at least attempted to look for the time pools and meddle in whatever part of history he could reach. Depending on when it was and how much Titan’s Blood was available to him at the time, he may not have been able to find them, but he definitely would have tried.
This may or may not tie in to...
2) Luz’s Memories | We’re shown at least three instances where Luz remembers something differently than how it was shown to have happened. When Camila asked her to promise to stay in the Human Realm. When she saw Belos and The Collector talking about cursing the land in nine bright hues. And when she told King he was a Titan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I’m typing it, I’m realizing that all three of these memories have at least a slight link to The Collector. King had just connected with The Grand Huntsman before Luz told him about being a Titan. Obviously the conversation with Belos includes The Collector. And Luz was in the space between realms, where The Collector was imprisoned, when she made that promise to Camila.
I’m not sure what it could mean, but maybe The Collector’s new game will reveal some kind of ability to mess with Time or Memory. There’s also the fact that a bunch of Luz’s memories were just extracted into photographs so she could recall the teleportation glyphs, and we all know what kind of shenanigans can happen if anyone messes with those photographs. Maybe that will connect to Luz misremembering things.
Or maybe Luz misremembering things is just a character trait, her mind blowing things up to be more dramatic or dire than they actually are. Maybe there’s even a more mundane production-related reason for the differences that I’m just reading too much into.
3) Why Can’t You Remember Me? | Speaking of possible memory issues, there’s a character I’m curious about.
Tumblr media
An unnamed thief steals Lilith’s lunch money, Eda raises an army of abominations in response, but then forms an unlikely alliance with The Thief when the abominations gain sentience and revolt. Principal Faust even seems like he might have referenced this event, looking at one of Eda’s case files and remarking that she’s close with Lilith. At any rate, who’s this Thief character? We know Alador, Odalia, and Darius were at school around the same time. Alador or Darius would probably make a good ally in a fight against an abomination, but there are a couple of things that make me more suspicious that it could be someone else.
First, the song. Obviously it’s a play on “Don’t You Forget About Me,” but the phrasing “Why Can’t You Remember Me” feels like it could be more meaningful. I’d be curious to know if TJ Hill came up with the lyrics, or if the concept came from Dana or another writer.
Second, there’s a “Look Hooo’s Talking” short that covers this episode and focuses on the mention of Edalyn, Lilith, and The Thief.
Tumblr media
I’m wondering about this character and if they’ll be significant or not. If there are more time travel shenanigans to come, or some kind of memory issues at play, then could this weird detail that’s been left hanging become relevant? Combined with the line “Why Can’t You Remember Me,” it leaves me to wonder if it’s somehow possible that everyone has a whole in their memories in the shape of this unnamed Thief.
4) The Clawthorne Connection | I’d say it’s pretty obvious at this point that Caleb’s girlfriend Evelyn is connected to the Clawthorne family. I didn’t even spot Evelyn when I first looked at the ‘Hollow Mind’ paintings, but I saw a reaction video that pointed out she was there and that the she looked pregnant. I can’t believe I looked at so many paintings and somehow missed one of the most important ones.
Tumblr media
The name alone rings familiar: Evelyn, Gwendolyn, Edalyn. This makes me think she’s probably an ancestor of Gwendolyn, but the connection may instead be through Dell’s side. Dell’s Palisman seems to pretty much be a yellow Flapjack and some people say he has a resemblance to Philip.
Then we can factor in the gateways between realms. Eda found the portal door in land behind her childhood home. And when Belos activates the graveyard gateway, it seems to come out in that same area. The house that the portal door seems to always lead to is presumably Caleb’s. Flapjack knew the house and knew to look for the rebus under the floorboards.
I guess Caleb and Evelyn were trying to keep things secret from Philip, but I’m not exactly clear on why they needed the rebus. Couldn’t they just remember where they hid their stash of Titan’s Blood? The graveyard gateway was presumably how Caleb and Evelyn first visited each other and moved back and forth between realms. I’d hazard a guess that the portal door came later, a more perfected version, with the convenience of the blood in the key. I can only assume they kept the stash of Titan’s Blood in case of emergencies, but switched to using the door primarily.
At any rate, there’s definitely a connection between Evelyn, Caleb, and the Clawthorne family. The mere fact that Gwendolyn knew about a human in the Demon Realm, when even most people in Philip’s time didn’t seem to have heard of him, seems significant. And of course, Gwen never mentions Philip by name. This makes me wonder if she might’ve been talking about Caleb and maybe he also left something in the library.
5) Has someone been subtly maneuvering Camila and/or Luz toward the Demon Realm? | Did someone recommend the fancy hospital and convince Camila that moving to Gravesfield was a good idea? And of course we know that the summer camp was recommended. Are these coincidences or has someone been pulling strings and nudging these events into place? And if someone is manipulating events, why? Whose side are they on? Are they trying to help Belos, The Collector, Luz, or someone else?
This may or may not be related to Masha and their friends in 3x01. The friends invite Luz to Old Gravesfield, where Masha tells the tale, with assistance from those same friends. They’re curiously well-informed about the Wittebane tale. And they were at Luz’s summer camp. Maybe Masha’s just that kind of nerd and that’s why they were sent to camp, but I have to wonder if there’s more to it.
6) The Bat Queen | Whose Palisman was she? She seems too big to be Palisman to an average witch. My best guess would be that she was Palisman to a Titan, but I think she’s probably too small to have been Palisman to a full grown Titan. Not sure if Eda would have the whistle on her person anymore or if it was seized when the Emperor’s Coven raided The Owl House.
I was thinking Kikimora’s dragon with the hand face might be a Palisman too, although I can’t spot an interlock on it. It shows up in a big Palisman episode though and answers to a whistle, while earlier in the episode Eda specifically brings up Bat Queen’s whistle and Bat Queen tells her to keep it. My current theory is that Bat Queen and the hand dragon were Palismen to Titans, specifically the one our characters live on and the one the Titan Trappers live on. This brings me to my next thought...
6) Will the Titan Trappers come back? | We’ve got a society of people specifically connected to a Collector (the one we know, or another?) so it would feel odd if this Collector-centric final story arc doesn’t at least mention them at some point. Also was their glass disc formerly a prison to a different Collector, or were there actually two discs that connected to the same Collector we know. And Bill supposedly encountered a Titan that blew out his ear drums. I’d say this is likely referencing the same roar that King understood to mean “son.” This feels like something that needs to be addressed, but I know they’ve only got a limited amount of screentime left.
7) When Was King’s Egg Laid? | Eda met him eight years ago, but the egg was probably there a lot longer than that. If he’s really the son of the decomposing Titan that all our main characters are living on, then that egg must have been there for thousands of years. If instead he’s the son of a different Titan, like the mysterious one Luz glimpsed in the space between realms, or any given one slain by the Titan Trappers, then the timetables could conceivably be different. Bill tells us he’s old enough to have battle scars that are more than 50 years old, but we don’t know his exact age or when exactly he (presumably) encountered one of King’s parents.
Also, another reaction video I was watching pointed out a difference in face shape between the Bonesborough Titan and the Trapper Isle Titan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At a guess, I’d say that’s a distinguishing characteristic between male and female Titans, but I’m sure there could be any number of possible reasons.
9) Philip and Caleb Were Orphans | This leaves room for some questions about who their parents were and where they originally came from. Was it pure coincidence that they ended up in Gravesfield? Or, like Luz, did some external force or higher being maneuver their lives toward the Demon Realm?
10) The Convoluted Magic System | At first I was thinking there might be some kind of rock-paper-scissors thing, but it seems like it gets more tangled than that.
Palisman Magic can block Titan Magic (or at least young Titans)
Tumblr media
...but it and other forms of magic bounce off of Titan veins.
Tumblr media
Titan Magic can contain Collectors
Tumblr media
Collector Magic can contain The Owl Beast (and presumably other things, given their name)
Tumblr media
The Owl Beast can corrupt a Witch’s Bile Sac Magic and interfere with Sigil Magic like the Draining Spell (and the Sigil Magic was presumably taught to Belos by The Collector)
Tumblr media
A Basilisk can drain a Witch’s Magic, but not Glyph Magic (which is powered by the Titan)
Tumblr media
...and Hunter says Glyph magic seems similar to the Elemental Magic practiced in the “Savage Ages.”
Sigil Magic can contain or drain a Witch’s Magic
Tumblr media
And then Collectors can overcome Sigil Magic (presumably because they invented it)
Tumblr media
I feel like there’s probably another link or two in this chain of how the different types of magic interact with each other. And somewhere in all the tangles is the answer to how our group of Witches, Humans, Palismen, Owl Beasts, and a Titan will stand against a Collector and also against Belos.
11) This Better Not All Be A Dream or Somehow in Luz’s Head | There are an uncomfortable number of things that could be taken as signs of it. The way the Azura books and movies seem to parallel Luz’s life at times, the Conformatorium being like a mythical version of the dreaded summer camp that Luz can actually fight against, the meta-jokes like being playthings for higher being or “is our world but fiction,” and a few visual things in Luz’s home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, if these writers had more time and wanted to do an episode like Buffy’s “Normal Again” the story would pretty much write itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I’d be down for it as an episodic concept. Something like a villain trying to deceive Luz into thinking it has all been a dream could be an interesting and engaging idea, but I would be furious if that’s where the show ends off for real. I don’t get the impression that Dana and Co would do that, but there are just a few too many things that seem like they could be pointing that way for me to feel 100% safe in that assumption. Although maybe it’s all just meta jokes and/or narrative devices and/or support for the “someone’s manipulating Luz’s life” theory.
Anyway, those are some of my thoughts and theories. Feel free to tell me why I’m wrong or point out details I haven’t noticed. With such a limited amount of time left, who knows if the show will go further into any of these things, but...

Night Changes
This isn't based on an ask, but I've had some early-Cap ideas brewing and think about the first time the team heard him laugh a lot. His and James' friendship is so sweet in SW--the beginning of it must have been such a shock to them both. SW credit goes to @lumosinlove!
So maybe James had bitten off more than he could chew. It wasn’t the first time, to be sure, but coaxing (read: drag kicking and screaming) his new teammate out of the carefully-constructed mosaic of scowls that made up his entire personality was proving to be a little more challenging than he previously expected. With most rookies, all it took was some elbow grease and overenthusiastic inclusion in group events to get them to open up—with his brand-new soon-to-be best friend, he had to handle things a little more delicately.
Sirius Black was a puzzle wrapped up in one of those freaky code-breaking machines from World War Two Lily liked to talk about. He was one of the best hockey players James had ever seen, but off the ice he seemed to shut down. The intense focus on his face smoothed out into almost perfect neutrality, and in the four months since he joined the Lions, he had never once smiled for real in front of the team. He sat in his stall and padded up in silence, then went out and kicked ass before following Pascal home like a living shadow.
Naturally, James took it as a personal mission to pry Sirius Black’s closed-off persona open like a stubborn oyster. He tried including Sirius in group events—the rookie went along with a quiet “yeah, sure”, but sat at the table and nursed a single drink for the entire night. He tried getting into friendly banter with him on the ice, but it was like Sirius had never joked with anyone in his life. Hell, he even tried finding him a girlfriend, which tanked harder than the goddamn Titanic.
“Rookie!” James shouted down the hallway.
Sirius jumped and turned around, obviously confused. “Me?”
“Yes, you,” James laughed, jogging over to toss an arm over his shoulders. “What’s up?”
“Not much.”
He waited for Sirius to continue, then rolled his eyes and gave him a friendly shake. “C’mon, man, how was your weekend? Has Dumo coerced you into being a stay-at-home babysitter yet?”
Sirius’ frown deepened. “What? I come with him to practice every day.”
Change tactics, change tactics— “Got any plans for Friday?”
James knew the answer, of course; it was always no or not yet or a simple shake of the head. If he was a less observant man, he would have assumed Sirius didn’t actually want to hang out with the team. But the longing looks toward their easy rhythm and the way he always tilted himself toward locker room conversations told a different story. “None yet,” Sirius said with a shrug.
James gave him a friendly slap on the back. “Good, ‘cause I’m having a party at my place and you’re not allowed to miss it.”
“Why not?”
“Because I want you to be there, duh.” The bewilderment didn’t fade from Sirius’ face, but beneath it—well, maybe James was just seeing things, but he looked almost hopeful. He ruffled Sirius’ hair and headed for the locker room. “Friday at five, rookie! I’ll be waiting!”
--
The week passed in a slog of practices and cold weather. Sirius clammed up more and more as the party drew closer, but James didn’t miss the way his eyes flickered between the rest of them like he was analyzing a play. He would make one hell of a captain someday, if he could just relax a little.
“Hey, rookie, want a ride?” he asked when the big day finally arrived.
“Don’t you want to go home and set up first?” Sirius’ brow furrowed. For an eighteen-year-old kid, he was awfully thoughtful. James couldn’t wait to see him let loose a little. “I wouldn’t want to get in your way.”
“It’s a yes or no question,” he teased, poking the bit of exposed shoulder through the widening hole in Sirius’ under armor.
“I…” He faltered, then the corner of his mouth twitched up. It was the closest thing James had seen to a smile from him yet. One point for Potter. “Sure, Pots. Thanks.”
“No problem. Meet me at my car in five or so, yeah?”
“D’accord.”
“Oho, fancy French,” James laughed, turning back to unlace his skates.
It wasn’t until thirty seconds after Sirius left the room that he remembered he never told the rookie what his car looked like. Horrible, terrible visions of the poor guy wandering around the parking lot—or, god forbid, thinking James had left without him—flashed through his mind. It would undo everything he had been working so hard to build.
“Shit,” he hissed under his breath as he shoved his gear into his duffel with reckless abandon and hurried out of the locker room. His legs would be stiff from trying to run so soon after a grueling drill practice, but it was worth it to save his friend. “Rookie? Hey, Sirius, you still here?”
There was no response. James cursed again and made a beeline for the door to the parking lot. Please, God, don’t let him get lost. I need him to trust me.
“Oh, thank fuck,” he panted as he burst out onto the half-frozen concrete.
Sirius looked up from his phone with a strange expression. “Are you okay?”
“Thought I lost you for a sec.”
“You said to meet at your car, yes?” He glanced between James and the car in sudden worry.
“Yeah, yes, absolutely, I just—” He made an aborted gesture and dug his keys out of his pocket. “I realized I forgot to tell you which one is mine.”
Sirius blinked at him. “I know what your car looks like.”
“How?”
“Because you drive it here every single day and you gave me a ride three weeks ago.”
‘Dumbass’ went unsaid, but James could feel it hanging in the air. He coughed lightly. “Right. Anyway, you can toss your bag wherever and hop in the passenger seat. My place isn’t far from here.”
Sirius took his duffel as he unlocked the car and settled both in the trunk with more care than James’ poor, battered bag had ever seen in its life. That was another thing that confused him about Sirius Black—he was so careful. He walked quietly for someone so tall, and each movement seemed pre-planned.
Each movement, that is, until he tried to get in the car. “Uh, Pots?”
“That’s m—oh.” James covered his mouth to stifle his laughter as Sirius tried to fold himself into the passenger seat and failed miserably. “I’m sorry, my girlfriend was sitting there last. Uh, there’s a lever on your right—yeah, there, just give it a pull and—”
With a harsh ka-chunk, the seat slid all the way back. Both men froze. It took everything in James’ power not to burst out laughing at the deer-in-headlights shock on Sirius’ face.
“Yep, that one,” he managed. “Nice job.”
They drove in relative quiet—James chattered on about weekend plans and hummed to the radio while Sirius watched out the window with the occasional monosyllable response. It took James a bit by surprise how comfortable he was, even without a steady stream of banter. Sirius might have been stubborn and silent and determined to foil all James’ plans at getting him to socialize, but he was calming to be near, like an anchor on unsteady water. Despite his overall quiet air, he was obviously paying attention to every word that left James’ mouth.
“You’re a good guy, y’know that?” he said as they turned onto his street. Sirius glanced over in surprise. “Most people tune me out within, like, five minutes.”
“I’m a good listener.”
James opened his mouth to respond, then paused. “Was that—Sirius Black, was that a joke?”
Something akin to mischief—mischief!—crossed his face. “Maybe.”
“Were you roasting me?” James gaped at him. “Oh my god. The guys are never gonna believe this.”
“Probably not.”
“You sick bastard. They won’t believe me.”
“You can give it a shot,” Sirius said with a shrug as the engine turned off. Pieces began to connect in James’ head as he stared, incredulous, at the rookie he thought would never even crack a smile. Four months of work had not been wasted, as he had feared; every joke, every one-sided conversation, and every attempt to get Sirius involved had been seen and heard and taken to heart. When he thought about it, he wasn’t sure he had ever seen Sirius actively agree to something unless James asked personally.
“We’re friends,” he said aloud, too surprised and too happy to hold it in. Not friends in the way James was with the rest of their loud, over-the-top teammates, but friends all the same.
“Well, yeah,” Sirius said as if it was obvious.
James unbuckled his seatbelt and socked him lightly on the shoulder, barely suppressing a shriek of excitement. “Love you, man. Grab your shit, we’ve got a party to set up.”
----------------
As much as it pained James to say it, having someone around who was six-foot-three was a huge help. There was no blow to his pride as he dragged Lily’s stepstool out; no grudging acceptance that he simply couldn’t reach those last two inches on the wall. Instead, he could foist any and all responsibility on his brand-new best friend in the whole wide world and focus on the things that mattered, like putting anything breakable or important far away from the grubby hands of his inebriated teammates.
His success was still ringing in his ears when the guests finally arrived—throughout the evening, James rode the high of accomplishing his mission to pull Sirius Black into his tight-knit circle. Every minute of those four months was worth it.
Midnight came and went, and by one-thirty in the morning James’ cramped living room was packed with tipsy hockey players in a vague imitation of a circle. “Non, non, I’ve gotta good one,” Dumo said, hiccupping. The room fell quiet as he leaned forward. “What do you call a body of water with a chicken in it?”
“What?” Kasey whispered, starry-eyed like a kid at Christmas.
“A swimming pool.”
The room stayed quiet, and then someone started to laugh. Slowly, they all turned to the source of the noise, and James felt a ripple of shock roll through the team as Sirius snorted. “It’s a swimming pool,” he said around a smile, his accent thick from three drinks. He had a nice laugh; James could get used to hearing it. “Like—poule, like chicken?”
His whole face was alight with happiness. James wasn’t sure whether to cry or cheer. That’s what I’ve been waiting for, he thought. That look, right there. Sirius fit in among the group like a missing piece of their puzzle, snickering away as if he hadn’t been stoically silent a day in his life. His laugh was downright bubbly.
“I don’t think they get it,” Dumo said into the rim of his cup.
Sirius shook his head, trying to catch his breath. “D’accord, so—so ‘chicken’ in French is poule, yeah? So a chicken in a body of water is a swimming poule. Do you get it now?”
A few oh’s of understanding washed over them, but several people continued to stare. “Too drink for this,” Sergei grumbled, though James could see the smile pulling at his mouth as Sirius turned to him with bright eyes.
“But it’s funny!” Sirius protested, so earnest it made James’ heart hurt.
“I think it’s funny, rookie,” he assured him with a clumsy pat on the arm. “And it’s my house, so I say Dumo gets a point this round.”
Kasey hiccupped. “Hey, anyone who makes the rookie laugh gets points in my book. No offense, dude.”
“None taken,” Sirius said, though his cheeks were pink.
James nudged him with his shoulder as Talker started a knock-knock joke. “It’s okay,” he said under his breath.
Sirius picked at the label on his cup. “I know I haven’t been very social,” he muttered.
“It’s okay,” James insisted. “It always takes rookies a while to warm up, so we’re just glad you’re happy. I’m glad my best friend is having a good time at my party.”
A heavy silence fell between them as Sirius looked over, eyebrows raised. “Best friend?”
“What, like you didn’t see this coming?” James slung an arm over his shoulder. “Yes, you French-Canadian nerd, you’re my best friend. And that means I’m your best friend, and there’s no take-backsies.”
“What the hell is a take-backsie?” Sirius laughed. “Did you make that up?”
James grinned. He had the feeling this was the beginning of an excellent friendship.

A Fatal Mistake
Requested by @tatakae1tatakae ! ♡ Hope you like it, lovely!
Levi Ackerman x Reader
"I thought I was keeping you safe by letting you go. Now I see that was a mistake."
Warnings: descriptions of injury, broken ribs
Tumblr media
The wooden boards creaked beneath your boots as you made your way up to Levi's office. He had told you earlier that day to meet him there once your duties were over, although he'd refused to tell you why, expression indifferent and stoic.
While this was the emotion plastered on his face at any given point of the day, it had never been directed at you, only normally reserved for his interactions with snotty cadets and grouchy higher-ups. With you it was different. He'd reveal himself from the stoic mask he hid behind in public, offer you gentle smiles and tender eyes, saccharine whispers and the graceful sweeping of his lips against yours.
Something was off with Levi. You could read your boyfriend like a book no matter how hard he tried to keep his feelings to himself, and you had every intention of finding out what was troubling him.
Rapping your knuckles against the solid oak door, you waited for him to welcome you in. His voice carried through, permitting you into his office as though you were another soldier instead of a partner.
"Levi, everything okay?" you spoke softly as you closed the door behind you, not wanting to worsen the already abnormal mood he was in.
"Take a seat," was the most Levi seemed to be capable of offering you, voice stern. An order. The man did not look up from his paperwork, scratching away with his pen. Black tendrils of hair hung down, shielding you from seeing his face.
You did as he said, perching yourself in the seat facing his desk reserved for business conversations.
Crossing your hands in your lap you watched him expectantly, waiting for him to explain why he had called you here, and why he was acting so cold. Nothing. The only audible sound was the scratching of his pen as he still refused to look at you.
"Levi?" you called out hesitantly.
He sighed, tapping his pen against the desk before placing it back in its holder. When he finally looked up to meet your eyes his face bared no emotions, the man in front of you performing his identity of Captain Levi rather than your lover.
"This relationship is unprofessional. I've already allowed it to go on for too long. From now on we're back to a working relationship of a Captain and his subordinate. That clear, soldier?" his voice was harsh and cruel, as though every moment you'd cherished together, every night spent in each other's arms meant nothing.
You choked, breath catching in your throat. What? He couldn't be serious could he? Why now, why after everything? You felt your heart plummet into your stomach, a stiffness strangling your muscles.
"H-huh?" was all you could bring yourself to reply with, shock setting in.
"You heard me, solider. We're finished. Now get out of my office."
You felt dizzy, all the breath drained from your lungs, tears pricking at your eyes in a painful sting.
"Levi-" you whimpered, the pain of the man you loved more than life itself pushing you away like a fling wracking your body.
"I said, get OUT!" he yelled, hands slamming down on his desk.
You made your way to the door on shaky feet, tears spilling down your cheeks. As your hand grasped the handle you turned to look at him over your shoulder. He was still leaning with his hands planted firm against the desk, teeth gritted and brows furrowed. His knuckles paled to a sickly white from the pressure he was putting on them.
"Does everything we've been through really mean so little to you?" you choked out, voice quiet, almost barely there.
"You mean nothing to me," was his heart-wrenching response, one which you had feared hearing but needed to hear for yourself. "You were nothing but a distraction, a way to release my stress. Don't think too hard into it. Now go."
And as you left, closing the door behind you, Levi finally let his facade fall. He collapsed back into his chair, breath shaky. He rested his elbows on the desk, burrowing his face into his hands as tears burned his eyes. They leaked down to his chin as he couldn't help but think about how big of a lie everything he'd just told you was, how desperately he was in love with you and just how much living without you would torture him.
Levi had to remind himself why he was doing this. If you weren't attached to him you'd be out of harm's way. You'd have no need to throw yourself into the face of danger to protect him if there was no connection in the first place. You'd fend for yourself and your friends. Making himself an enemy was the best way to keep you safe.
But stars, the look on your face had wrenched his heart in two. The look of betrayal and pain in your eyes was similar to the one he'd seen when you'd lost a friend on an expedition, as though you'd witnessed the cruelest of deaths. Less than 24 hours before, he'd held you in his arms as you slept, fingers brushing sweeping patterns over your back. He'd pressed kisses to your warm skin, tangling his fingers between your own. You trusted him more than anybody else in this world and he'd done nothing but hurt you.
Levi never went back to his bed that night, the thought of it cold and empty making him nauseous. Instead, he resigned himself to weeping silently against the polished oak of his desk until the sun broke through the night sky and it was time to start a new day.
----------------------------
- The next day - a scouting expedition outside the walls -
-----------------------------
The rain fell thick and heavy, obscuring everybody's vision. The formation was completely broken, and flares were useless in such extreme conditions, the smoke trampled by the rain. You could hardly see your hand in front of your face, leaving you and your two fellow scouts, Armin and Jean, practically shoulder to shoulder on your horses.
"I can't see shit, where the hell are we even going?" Jean called out.
Armin, ever the smart one, replied "We should turn around, head back in the direction of the wall. Commander Erwin will likely be headed back there, there's no way the mission won't be called off in these conditions!"
"Back to the wall it is, then!" you shouted, tilting the reins of your horse to lead it to turn, your friends following suit.
You felt your heart clench in worry at the thought of Levi. No matter what he'd said to you the night before, you loved him desperately. Normally he'd keep you nearby in the formation, somewhere you could look out for eachother. This time he'd positioned you on the outer flank, as far away from him as possible. You hated, more than anything, not being able to make sure he was safe. Levi's reputation as humanity's strongest had often lead him headfirst into danger, and the thought of him risking his life needlessly in these conditions sent a shiver through your spine.
The three of you could barely tell where you were, hoping that if you continued to ride in the general direction of where you came from it would lead you back to the others.
Unfortunately, before you could get any closer, the familiar sound of titans breaking into a sprint rang through your ears.
"Shit!" Jean yelled, "there's gotta be about seven of 'em! The hell did they come from?"
"We should split up! If we're all in the same place we'll have them gunning for us!" Armin spoke next, and with a nod from both you and Jean you carried out his plan.
You turned right, leading some titans away from your friends.
"That's it, c'mon, follow me," you spoke to yourself, looking over your shoulder as three titans tailed you at full speed. When you'd let them far away enough from your friends for them to not turn around and go for them you stood up on your horse, gathering your blades in each hand.
The strong winds didn't do much for your ODM gear, the hooks being turned away from their target each time. At the most crucial moment, just when you were about to sink your hooks into the shoulder of the tallest titan to get up to its nape, a wild gust of wind blew over the planes, sending the wires and the hooks shooting in the complete wrong direction. One caught onto the thigh of a different titan, sending you flying in that direction helplessly. Before you could collide with the titan, a large meaty fist grasped you, squeezing tight.
The large titan had caught you, and it groaned as it lifted you up towards its mouth. You couldn't lift your arms to slash at its fingers, arms pinned to your sides with the tightness of its grip. Panic set in, and you screamed as the titan lowered you into its gaping mouth, placing you down. It began to tighten its jaw, clamping your ribs between its massive teeth.
Just before the titan could crush you, your eyes, wide with fear, caught the outline of someone flying past in ODM gear, heading straight to the nape of the titan. A slashing sound rang out, and the next thing you knew you were plumetting to the ground, having just barely escaped death. Before you could hit the dirt, your saviour swung past and clutched you in their arms, carrying you down safely.
You groaned in pain, ribs definitely broken. The person carrying you fell to their knees, cradling you to their chest.
"Y/N!"
Levi? There was no mistaking it. That was the same voice you'd heard countless times, whether it was whispering sweetly in your ear, lauging melodically at something stupid, sharing late night conversations under the stars, it was definitely him. Levi was the one who had swept in and saved you from death.
"Shit, are you alright?" he asked, voice raised in fear and worry.
"Y-yeah, m'okay. Think my ribs are broken though," you coughed then whimpered at the pain that sent through your chest.
"Shh, shh, I've got you, love. You're alright. I'm here," he cooed. Levi sighed, guilt gnawing at his heart. If he had just been there this never would have happened in the first place.
Levi brought his fingers to his lips, whistling to beckon his horse over. Yours had been caught up in the fight, kicked away by a flailing titan.
"Alright, sweetheart, I'm just gonna lift you up onto the saddle. I'll be as gentle as I can."
He gathered you into his arms, carefully settling you onto the back of his horse. You groaned at the movement, causing Levi to press a reassuring kiss to your cheek.
"I know. Almost there, angel."
When you were finally up on the horse, Levi slid up in front of you, leaving you to wrap your arms around his waist. With a kick the horse was racing back in the direction of the wall. You rested your head in the nook of Levi's neck, taking in his familiar smell for comfort.
Upon reaching the wall you vaguely heard Levi call out for a medic, the adrenaline finally wearing off.
You knew you had been injected with a sedative to make you sleep so that you could be transported to the medical centre when you felt a scratch against your neck. As you faded out, you felt Levi's hand grasping yours tightly, and it was enough.
------
When you eventually woke, Levi was sat by your side, brushing his fingers up and down your cheek.
"Levi?" you spoke, throat dry and scratchy.
"I'm here," he replied calmly, although the guilt ridden look on his face betrayed him.
"You don't have to be, Levi. You told me how you felt, I get it. You can go. Thank you for saving me."
Levi winced, brows furrowing. He moved his hand to cup your jaw, carefully tilting your chin to get you to look at him.
"I'm sorry. This is all my fault," he sighed. "I thought- I just thought that if I distanced you from me you'd be safe, that you'd be out of harm's way and wouldn't have to jump in to protect me. I thought I was keeping you safe by letting you go. Now I see that was a mistake. A huge fucking mistake, worst I've ever made. You nearly died and it's all because of my stubbornness. I love you, like I've never loved anybody else, and that scared me. Made me afraid that I'll lose you like I've lost everyone else important to me - because I knew that if I did lose you it would break me. But all I ended up doing was putting you in danger. I wasn't there to look after you and you could've died because of it. I don't expect you to forgive me, not after what I said to you, but please just know that I didn't mean a word of it. It was all lies I crafted to push you as far away from me as I could. I truly love you, Y/N."
You gasped, tears building up in your eyes.
"You really mean that?"
"Yes," he looked down in shame. "I'll never lie to you again. I see now that it will always do more harm than good."
You were silent for a moment, thinking over everything he'd said. So it had all been one big lie that he'd thought would keep you safe. While it was clearly stupid, you understood where he was coming from, and the thought of him caring for your safety so deeply made your heart tighten.
"I forgive you, Levi."
He looked up at you and gasped shallowly, eyes wide.
"W-what?"
"I understand why you did it. Dumb or not, you had the best intentions. I've loved you for so long, Levi, and I don't plan on stopping any time soon."
Levi found himself at a loss for words, staring down at the being beneath him in awe. You were so perfect. How could a man like him ever deserve someone like you.
"Levi?"
"Mm?"
"Kiss me."
He felt breathless, like someone had sucked the air straight from his lungs.
Without any more hesitation, Levi leaned down, tilted his head slightly and pressed his lips to yours. A tear escaped his eye and rolled down his cheek, shaky breaths puffing out his nose.
He was no longer scared of love.

What HCs do you have about the religious affiliations of the teen titans?
Starfire probably has the the most straightforward faith out of all of them. She worships X'hal, who... it isn't really a fair comparison to say X'hal is Tamaranean Jesus. There's a lot of variations in how different Tamaranean sects worship X'hal. For some sects the analogue might be closer to Buddha, for others, X'hal is kind of an elevated hero-god where her mortal origins as a liberator are more emphasized, and for some, there's a heavy martyrdom aspect. As a Princess of Tamaran, Starfire kind of makes a point not to lean too hard into any hyper-specific interpretation of X'hal. She meditates on both X'hal's mortal origins and the aspects of her divinity, and how passion and compassion allow normal Tamaraneans to experience the divine in their own ways. Starfire's also aware that religion and politics can get messy fast, so for her, the sacredness of X'hal is also like... a bedrock for the sacredness of Tamaran's own cultural traditions, such as the authority of the the throne, and the weight of such actions as a challenge for the throne. Starfire is one of those rare people whose faith isn't there to reinforce her own biases, but to open her perspective and make her understand the weight of her own actions.
Technically (ha) Cyborg's Baptist, but neither of Cyborg's parents were particularly religious. Still, religion was important to them as a social function--keeping in touch with family members and the community in general, fostering connections that let Victor Stone's athletic career thrive. After Cyborg's accident though, Victor and Silas more or less dropped out of their local church altogether. They still got a bunch of food and casseroles and visitors weighing down on them mourning Elinore, and basically all the social exhaustion of that (combined with Silas plunging deeper into figuring out Victor's funky motherbox capabilities as part coping mechanism part 'What the shit is happening') saw a very fast exit from the community. Cyborg's own motherbox capabilities have kind of... blown his mind. It's kind of hard for him to fall back into the motions of that faith. There's still an affection and a nostalgia for it, but also like... I don't think he'd really get back into it unless his dad did, and there is no motivation for it on Silas's end.
Beast Boy is functionally agnostic. He's seen some weird shit with the Doom Patrol and he honestly has an absurdly high threshold for like... earth-shattering reality-bending shit compared to the other Titans. Rita had some Christian leanings but not really, so she didn't really force it on Gar all that much. She just raised him to be "an upstanding young gentleman" which like... stuck about 60%?? Beast Boy's faith can be boiled down to like...
Beast Boy: *mouth full of vegetarian chow mein* Why don't we talk about how King Shark is the son of Shark God? Are there other gods like Shark God? Is there a Crab God? Do you think Crab God and Shark God are cool with each other?
Robin has a really interesting blend of different faiths between some Romani folk practices of his parents, Bruce being interfaith, Kate being Jewish, some weird quasi-Buddhist stuff from Bruce's training, and a whole hodgepodge of different folk faiths that different members of Haley's Circus had. I don't know if it's fair to say he believes in a higher-power... at the end of the day, he's a boots on the ground guy. He's gotta look after himself and his team, and if there's a higher power, sure, whatever, that's great, but that's not something that can solidly figure into team logistics.
Raven. Hoo boy. Where to start with Raven. So like... in the comics, the monks of Azarath basically see Azar, the weird semi-immortal mystic old woman who guided them to Azarath, as kind of a god unto herself, but in the 03 show, there's like no mention of Azar at all. My personal interpretation is that... while Azar was this highly sacred and revered figure in Azarath, Raven actually got the most accurate, vulnerable, and honest look at her: An immortal who fucked up, who knows she fucked up, and is now desperately scrambling to prepare Raven as the last defense all of reality has against Trigon. And within Azarath, Raven had to keep up the appearance of this great reverence toward Azar to keep the rest of Azarath from falling into complete despair. So like... Raven is simultaneously aware of like... the power faith has, but she's also disillusioned with it. She's also repulsed by the cults of her father preying on the vulnerable. Ultimately, Raven's respectful towards virtually all religious beliefs--and she does see the force and merit in a lot of different ritual elements of them. She's not one of those assholes who's going to shit all over your faith because of her own trauma. Azarath raised her with a lot of hardcore compassion but... faith in general is something that gets her anxious. She believes in her friends. And like... as scary as it can get sometimes... at the end of the day, that's enough.

The Owl House, Season 2, Episode 8, "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Hooty's Door," First Impressions!
Ladies, Gentlemen, and that beautiful technicolor rainbow in-between, give it up for Hooty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well done, you ridiculous comic-relief character.
OKAY!
OKAY!
So, the current season of Owl House continues to impress. Like, just about every episode has been a banger. They've taken what worked in the first season, expanded on it, while giving the show some major upgrades in character depth, lore, personal development, and connective tissue. The first season was good and all, but let's face it: when one episode ended there wasn't a whole lot of need to pop the next one in. NOT THE CASE ANYMORE!
That being said, when I saw that we were getting a Hooty episode I was...well, not really worried, but I did have an eyebrow raised. See, Hooty falls neatly into the kind of comic-relief characters that are primarily annoying, and those are really hard to get right! I mean, She-Ra is one of my favorite shows of all time, but...you know, the horse.
Tumblr media
Now, the problem I had with Swift Wind is that he was portrayed as being intelligent and well-liked, but his thoughtlessness often caused problems for the other characters, usually at the worst possible of times, to the point where it wasn't generating laughs, it was just getting in the way. He did grow on me a bit in that last season, but overall, he still got on my nerves a lot.
Hooty is different. For one, the annoying qualities are amped up to being actually kind of funny. For another, the characters themselves are weirded out by him and react appropriately. For another, he's usually only around in small doses, long enough to get a good gag in, and doesn't outstay his welcome. And finally, once you get past his, well, everything, he still kind of kicks ass. Where Swift Wind kept being accidentally a detriment, Hooty ends up being accidentally helpful more often than not, and that was what this episode ended up revolving around.
See, now that his BFF Lilith has left, Hooty is making more of an effort to bond with his various housemates, all of whom have their own pressing problems: King is still stressed about where he came from and what he is, Eda's powerlessness is finally catching up to her, and Luz is now dealing with her growing crush on Amity on top of trying to get information from the mouse thingy to maybe help her find a way home.
Naturally, Hooty tries to help.
Naturally, it goes horribly wrong every time.
But what is so smart about this episode is that while Hooty's intended way of helping ended up backfiring each time, it still ended up leading to something that really did help them, leading them all to taking great strides in overcoming their problems, for which they are very thankful.
First is King, who, despite accepting Eda as his real parent, is still all wound up about his heritage. Like, what even is he? Why did his dad abandon him? I mean, it's like what he tells Hooty: sometimes just being accepted by your found family isn't enough. Sometimes you just gotta know.
I really like how receptive King was to Hooty's attempts. Like, he's obviously frustrated and impatient, but still accepted that Hooty was trying to help and didn't just brush him off. And we did learn a bit about Demonkind here. Apparently they spawned from the corpse of the Titan itself (or so they believe) and come in three categories: Bugs, Bipeds, and Beasts. And apparently Hooty is more worm than owl, and that makes him a Bug? But King doesn't fit into any of those categories!
But while Hooty's attempts to cheer up King don't work, he does end up doing something very helpful, because he helps King learn that he has a power! Apparently some kind of really strong sonic blast or something, and given how King's lack of power has driven a lot of his issues, this is a big step for him, and he has Hooty of all people to thank.
And give it up for, "What did you say about my mother?!" Such a basic joke, but it made me laugh so hard.
Also, with Tiny Nose here, this whole scene was basically Dana and Alex bouncing off each other, which was cute.
Next is Eda, who despite taking her loss of magic like a champ is finally starting to collapse under the weight of having no power while Belos still has it in for her and her family, and it's really getting to her, to the point where she hasn't slept for a long time, and seeing how it's almost 3AM as I write this, I can empathize.
Naturally, Hooty's solution is to slip her some magic sleeping meds. Naturally, it's not the best plan.
Also, don't slip drugs to your friends, no matter how sleep-deprived they might be. But it's a fantasy show with demons and fairies, and it's Hooty, so it's all good.
Anyway, you should have seen my face light up when I realized what was about to happen. A dream sequence? My favorite kind of narrative device? Why, yes, please! Yes, yes, yes!
And it is a doozy. On top of giving more of that creepy shit that I love, we also got to dig into Eda's past as she struggles with the owl beast, seeing the various points in her life when it ruined things for her, from her attacking her dad (ouch) to leading to her breakup with Raine (oof) to her now feeling unable to protect her loved ones. And she's had enough. She's going to settle things with her cursed form once and for all.
Except in doing so, she learns something very interesting. Turns out, the owl beast was an actual living, breathing creature that was targeted by that strange figure in the crescent moon robes and turned into a curse. It's as much trapped by Eda as she is by it. In learning this, the two finally come to an understanding.
And in doing so, Eda gets a glow-up, and she looks incredible. Yeah, girl! Work those wings!
And then...
Then we get to Luz.
Oh boy.
See, right before this episode aired, I was talking to a friend about how I really hoped Amity would return soon. Like, I get that they have to bench her every now and then so she doesn't overshadow everything, but she was sorely missed. And like I said, I really wanted Lumity to become canon midway instead of being saved to the end.
So, when Luz had her little slip about getting into Amity's heart, I grinned. And I hoped that whatever Hooty was going to do would give her the strength to be honest about her feelings.
...
I wasn't expecting him to outright kidnap Amity and force them into a freaking tunnel of love!
Now, let it be known that the owner of this blog does not condone the kidnapping of minors to set them up on dates, no matter how cute you might think they are together. And in all seriousness, playing matchmaker with your clearly uncomfortable friends isn't as cute as it is on TV.
But like I said earlier, this is a fantasy series and Hooty is a owl-worm demon, so it's all good!
And oh my God, was it adorable.
Look, the regular followers of my blog know me. I'm aromantic, and highly sensitive to scenes in which characters are made to be uncomfortable and embarrassed. The secondhand cringe is almost poisonous to me, doubly so if it's romantically driven! Like, ugh, just stop!
But I have an exception to that rule, and that is when an OTP is involved! Then it doesn't bother me as much. Actually, it was stinking adorable.
Though, hey, kudos for making that whole boat ride so very creepy. Real FNAF vibes. And apparently Hooty set it up in under an hour?!
Anyway, the climax was suitably dramatic as Hooty throws a tantrum of demonic proportions over his perceived failures, the others try to calm him down, it's all well and good, but...
Y'all.
It happened.
Luz and Amity both confessed.
They asked each other out.
LUMITY IS CANON!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It happened! It actually happened! I got what I wanted! They're officially dating! They are officially girlfriends! This is real!
AND IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE FINAL EPISODE!
Look, I love She-Ra, and I respect Korra, and fully understand what they were up against. No criticism. But they laid the groundwork, so it's time to progress even further. And now we have an actual queer relationship with the main freaking characters! An openly out bisexual and lesbian girl are dating in a freaking Disney kid's show! And they're the mains!
I feel like I've witnessed history.
And oh my God, they are adorable.
Thank you, Hooty. That you to the ultimate wingman, you utterly bizarre, always obnoxious, oftentimes terrifying, owl-worm abomination-
HOLY SHIT, IS THAT KING'S DAD?!
DAMN IT, HOOTY! YOU SPIT THAT LETTER OUT RIGHT NOW, YOU HEAR?!
