Wendingways' Star Wars fic recs
The vast majority of these are fix-its. Some are time travel/time loop. Most revolve around PT, TCW, and OT characters. A lot are also gen, as it turns out.
The order of the list has nothing to do with how much I enjoyed each fic, because I've enjoyed them all in different ways, for different reasons! Fics that seem to be really popular have been placed toward the bottom of each section, because I'm guessing they already appear on a lot of other rec lists. Aside from that, the order is pretty much random.
*Chapter and word counts may not be up to date. I try to go through once in a while to update the details for WIPS, but it's a lot to keep track of!
Complete multichapter fics
Finding Obi-Wan; T, 86.9k. Obi-Wan, having disappeared from the Jedi Temple, wakes up with no idea who he is or what the Force is and gets pulled into all manner of messes (yes, Hondo gets involved, of course he does), while Anakin refuses to believe he's dead and struggles to find him.
Blood and Copper Oxide; T, 36.3k. "Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader crash land on a planet that shouldn't have existed. Luke can't escape Vader and survive the planet at the same time. Darth Vader can't capture Luke and fight off the innumerable threats the planet sends his way. They might have to work together instead." Very cool story!
The Skywalker Secret; T, 39.8k. Anakin time travels back to the Clone Wars following Endor. The story is told mostly through the eyes of perplexed observers, and has an excellent ending; it's very satisfying and lovely!
Lunches at Anakin's; T, 93.1k. After Endor, thanks to the Force's meddling, Anakin finds himself alive but stuck on Tatooine, where he ends up reluctantly mentoring a Force-sensitive girl. (Technically complete, but part of a series which is not complete.)
(Tooka)Cat Scratch Fever; not rated, 17.7k. Luke adopts a tooka which turns out to be his father, under a curse by Sidious. (I would probably rate this one as T.)
In the Tall Grass; T, 18.5k. "After a failed order 66, in which many Jedi still died but the Sith were defeated, an exiled warrior and a boy wander a distant planet and attempt to get along." This one is so cool, it has such a fairytale feel to it! And there's a sequel!
Shadows of the Future; K+, 129.3k. Obi-Wan dies on Mustafar and is sent back to TPM, where he bonds with Anakin and begins to change the future for the better.
Gut Feeling; T, 7.5k. Amusing little multichapter wherein Piett is assigned a new aide who goes by the name of Lucas Starkiller (who is clearly not Luke Skywalker, definitely not), and from there becomes embroiled in treason.
May Death Find You Alive; T, 11.0k. Anakin gets stuck in a time loop where Obi-Wan keeps dying.
Empire Reimagined; series, T, 341.7k. A saga of Luke, Vader/Anakin, Piett, Veers, and Leia covering from ESB-era to post-ROTJ. Epic friendships abound! (Series not marked complete, but the last completed fic doesn't leave you hanging.)
Mirjahaal; T, 132.8k. Another lovely Wishful fic in the spirit of Empire Reimagined, involving favorite characters and somebody else who's a surprise!
The Exiled; T, 20.1k. "Leia has tried everything to help her baby son. She has turned to every expert on the Force she knows-- all but one. (Ben and Grandpa go camping)" (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
Cloudy Symbols of High Romance; G, 22.1k. This one's a bit of a relict! Posted pre-AOTC, way back in 2001, it's a cool take on how Anakin and Padmé's AOTC-era reunion happened, and omg, it's so much better than AOTC. It's actually cute, and you can see why they like each other, and man does it make the knowledge of what's coming so much the worse.
Kintsugi; T, 16.7k. Quietly tragic, even though nobody dies and it's broadly a fix-it. Not a comfy fic, but one which is well done.
What Lurks in the Dark; T, 155.4k. "A simple mission to check out an abandoned weapons factory turns into a dangerous fight for survival. Trust is broken, loyalties will be tested, and dark secrets are brought to light. Because sooner or later, the truth always comes out."
The Beauty in the Beast; T, 46.1k. "When the Force decides it's had enough of Darth Vader and wants Anakin Skywalker back, it dumps his long-lost teenage son on his doorstep with an ultimatum: unless Vader renounces the Sith and turns back to the Light within three months, Luke will die."
Sibling Revelry; T, 24.9k. "After Bespin and before Endor, Darth Vader is shocked to discover that Luke and Leia are twins. Especially since Imperial Intelligence just told him that Organa and Skywalker are, erm, a tad closer than previously suspected..." A hilarious comedy of misunderstandings!
The Sith Who Brought Life Day; G, 13.3k. A rather entertaining take on how Vader found out who blew up the Death Star.
This Life of Ours; T, 53.9k. "On the run from the empire and the remaining Jedi alike, Vader must come to terms with his past and his future, all the while learning to care for the boy that is his only connection to his life as Anakin Skywalker." (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
Teach the Padawan. Save the Galaxy.; series, T, 387.4k. 4 books complete, but the series itself is not complete. Ben Kenobi goes back in time and becomes Obi-Wan's master instead of Qui-Gon.
Legacy; G, 175.5k. Post-ROTJ Luke and Leia time travel to the Clone Wars.
there but for the grace of god; T, 49.2k. Young Luke winds up time traveling to the Clone Wars, where he causes both confusion and conversations that will lead to a brighter future for the TCW crew and the galaxy in general.
Precipice; M, 231.7k. "An AU in which Anakin Skywalker does not follow Mace Windu and the others to Palpatine’s office after they leave to arrest the Chancellor. As a result, he doesn’t get that final push over the edge, and doesn’t Fall." Padmé and Anakin each raise a twin and work to bring Palpatine down.
Don't Look Back; M, series, 533.7k. 2 books complete, 1 in progress. Leia gets sent back to AOTC-era, and omg is she a force to be reckoned with! Very detailed, very political series.
Oneshots
Negative Static Stability; G, 8.1k. Vader and Leia meet when Leia is 5; lessons on the workings of ships ensue, along with some good old Artoo scheming. Adorable!
Palpatine's Greatest Hits II: Imperial Boogaloo; T, 1.3k. Just Palpatine being salty. It's very fun! "Fortress Dramaticus" has got to be one of my favorite bits, coupled with Palpatine's ongoing disgust at its lack of shields and certain people's inability to learn certain lessons. And his disgust at Vader's Kenobi obsession. Okay, the whole thing is great. Go read it!
Dust to Dust; T, 4.7k. "Darth Vader goes back in time. The Galaxy is saved; he is not."
Puppet Kings; series, T-M, 18.8k. Really nicely done, dark oneshot trilogy (complete) about Luke, Vader, & Co. I'm not usually one for horror and tragedy, but I read the first fic in the series and didn't want to stop!
Amelioration; T, 8.2k. "A recently liberated Vader attempts to ameliorate the future by changing the past." A different sort of angle, and an interesting fic!
The Horrendous Space Kablooie; T, 6.2k. "9 year old Anakin wakes up on the Executor. Chaos ensues." Well worth reading! Can't say more because I don't want to spoil anything.
The Agony of Tarkin; G, 4.8k. "An extra in the Imperial Opera Company discovers he has been assigned the role of Darth Vader in its upcoming production of The Agony of Tarkin." Another hilarious fic in the vein of The Sith Who Brought Life Day and Accountant Non-Heroes of the Republic.
Accountant Non-Heroes of the Republic; G, 7.0k. "Palpatine makes a choice to hide his fiscal manoeuvres in the Financial Department. The Financial Department takes advantage of this lack of transparency to do whatever they want. This saved the Republic." It's always fun to watch Palpatine shoot himself in the foot, and all the better when it comes completely out of left field.
Out of Step; T, 4.9k. Nice little oneshot with post OT-era Obi-Wan and Anakin stuck into their TPM-era selves.
FIVE HUNDRED AND ONE THING THE MEMBERS OF THE 501ST LEGION OF THE GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO; T, 4.9k. A hilarious list composed by General Kenobi. I laugh myself silly every time I read this. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
501 MORE THINGS THE 501ST ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO; T, 3.4k. A sequel to the 501st list fic, also very funny, although it only has about 250 entries, not 501. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.) Listed with oneshots because the extant 250 entries can be read as a complete list.
Where Have We Come?; T, 2.0k. "The first time was one of the hardest and the easiest. Obi-Wan loses at Mustafar, but instead of dying he wakes up at the dawn of the last day of the republic, doomed to repeat the worst day of his life, over and over again." Time loop!
you drew stars around my scars (but now i'm bleeding); not rated, 1.1k. Post-Twilight of the Apprentice, Ahsoka and Anakin. I'd rate G or T. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
still dancing with your ghosts (sleeping with your memories); M, 1.1k. "Everyone knows about the Massacre, and how no Jedi made it out alive. The Jedi refuse to let anyone forget." I do not cry easily at fics. This one made me cry.
The Trick is to Keep Breathing; T, 3.5k. "She's older now, and so is he. Far older now. She wonders: will he have lost any power with his age? Will he be shorter, weaker? An old man on a ventilator? It's hard to imagine that he won't still be dangerous. But then, that's exactly what she's counting on."
Tuning up your TIE-Fighter to prove you’re better than the bastard currently running the TIE-Fighter Program for fun and profit; G, 7.1K. "As a rule, Vader didn't really do anything with his social media account, but then the rant of some kid from Tatooine about the inefficiency of TIE Fighters began trending, the pilots and engineers on the Devastator started fixing their ships and Vader got invested."
Multichapter fics that are incomplete but still appear to be alive as of now
Turning Point; T, 9.8k. After Vader dies on the second Death Star, he's sent back in time to the year 69 BBY, on Naboo, where he picks up an unfortunate barnacle in the person of the teenage Sheev Palpatine. Quite entertaining, and I can't wait to see where it goes!
The Good He Seeks; T, 70.1k. "After killing the Emperor, Darth Vader agreed to serve the fledgling New Republic and destroy the last true-believers of the Empire he had once helped create. But he's living on borrowed time." Though I do enjoy pure fix-its, there's just something that really gets me about fics that are fix-it-ish, but life is messy, the characters are messy, there are no easy answers or perfect solutions, and every positive development really feels earned. So far, this is one of those fics, and I'm loving it!
The Galaxy Revolves at a Million Miles a Day (Around Me); T, 40.7k. After dying on Executor during the battle of Endor, Piett finds himself trapped in a time loop which he must break. I'm a sucker for time loops, and this is such a good one!
The Sleepover to Restore the Republic; T, 56.1k. This many Skywalkers, clones, and associated friends, relatives, and coworkers were never intended to be thrown together, and when they are, boy oh boy. Gloriously chaotic and funny. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
Nameless, on the Edge of Nowhere; M, 100.7k. Vader survives ROTJ, but both he and Luke made it out of the second Death Star via random hyperspace jumps in separate ships. After getting by for a time, the not-fully-Sith-but-not-fully-redeemed Vader ends up with the Rebellion, where Leia becomes his handler. Slow build, and a really rewarding read thus far! (Also, I love the OCs in this one; they all feel very natural and vivid, and like people in their own right.)
Multichapter fics/series for those okay with living on the edge (inconsistent updates, long hiatus, or abandoned)
Headaches; T, 31.2K. "When Luke overhears his aunt and uncle arguing, he follows old Ben to Daiyu. Skywalker shenanigans ensues." Oh my goodness, the pure child chaos that is in this fic, it's an excellent time. Hasn't updated in almost a year, but what's there is so good!
Balance on the knife edge; T, 136.6k. After dying on Malachor, Ahsoka time travels back to Mortis, during the Clone Wars.
The Thunder Answered Back; M, 13.1k. "Count Dooku survives his duel with Anakin Skywalker only to wake up as a captive in the Jedi Temple on the evening of Order 66 and the siege. Betrayed, maimed, and surrounded by slaughter on every side, he must choose his path forward - and choose it quickly. RotS AU." Featuring Jocasta Nu.
Synchronous; G, 67.9k. "It's the usual time-entangling fiasco: 'Find the disturbance. Rectify the wrong. Fix the anomaly. Bring balance to the past so the Force may be balanced in the future.' There is a slight miscalculation, however, and Luke Skywalker finds himself in the Clone Wars while having to masquerade in the body of his late father Anakin Skywalker. Leia and Han aren't so helpful either."
In the Midst of Darkness Lays a Sleeping Light; T, 26.0k. Series, wherein Palpatine turns Vader into a dragon. (It goes great for both of them. Totally.) Angsty and enjoyable, and an interesting exploration of dehumanization/rehumanization.
To Set Up a Sith; T, 35.2k. "Teenage Luke tries to help his unwitting Sith father make a friend, with a little help from his ghost mom and the Force." Interesting story with fun and sweet bits, and I'm super curious about how it will turn out if it's ever finished!
like a lazy ocean hugs the shore; T, 10.7k. After Vader kills him, Fox gets stuck in a time loop around the time when Fives is killed.
Living Every Day; T, 82.9k. "When Satine Kryze survives her encounter with Darth Maul, it changes the galaxy. But even more than that, it changes the lives of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Skywalker family."
Dancing with Ghosts in Your Garden; T, 979.3k. Star Wars PT and TCW characters, but in a Hogwarts setting. It works surprisingly well! There's a little more teenage romance than is my personal preference, but it's a cool AU and quite long if you're looking for a fun, imaginative fic to absolutely bury yourself in for a while. (And it looks like Ahsoka might finally be entering during the next year of the fic!!)
What We've Become; T, 82.0K. "Darth Vader and Ahsoka’s fight on Malachor takes a different path, and Ahsoka actually is able to save her master. Or rather, she’s able to convince him to save himself. Diverges from canon in the last few minutes of Twilight of the Apprentice and goes increasingly AU from there."
better late than never; G, 41.4k. Ahsoka wins at Malachor, Vader redemption fic.
Madhouse Promenade; T, 13.0k. "In a bid to save his new apprentice's life, Darth Sidious siphoned the life force from Padmé Amidala, ultimately killing her. Ten years later, after finding out the truth, Darth Vader finds himself haunted by her ghost, and Padmé finds herself face-to-face with what her husband has become."
Hard Reset; T, 33.4k. "Anakin Skywalker wakes up to his worst nightmare, and he doesn't even know all of it yet." Aka Vader gets amnesia, and Anakin is confused about everything. (Visible to registered AO3 users only.)
The Ghosts on Coruscant; T, 143.6k. After surviving Mustafar and living as a rebel for eight years, Padmé is captured by the Empire, and Vader finds out.
Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns; T, 616.6k. ST-era Leia time travels back to ANH.
Old Man Luke; M, 109.4. ST-era Luke and Leia time travel to the Clone Wars.
Comics (all wips)
Dark Chasm; T, 21 chapters. "On Bespin, the truth is revealed, and Vader bids for Luke to join him. Luke looks down into the dark chasm and makes a choice."
Imperial Babysitters; T, 17 chapters. Cute comic/art series with Luke being raised by Vader, Piett, and Veers.
Our New Hope; T, 57 chapters. "After Ahsoka Tano discovers 12-year-old Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, she takes him under her wing and around the Galaxy. Meanwhile, Darth Vader has found Bail Organa's force-sensitive daughter and has started training her as a Junior Inquisitor. A chance encounter between the twins brings their worlds together."
The Tinies; G, 76 chapters. Cute comic with Vader and Padmé raising Luke and Leia.

Madness in two parts
This is a two part idea, feel free to take one or both. As always please let me know if this has sparked your creative juices. Some of this may be a touch sad, a touch bleak. It is Star Wars after all, and this serves as both a fix-it and not. It does ignore both the Bad Batch and the rumors of Cody on Tatooine.  Also, though it can be read as Gen, I do see it as light CodyWan
Part the first starts on the Death Star, in the moment that Darth Vader strikes Obi Wan Kenobi down. At the moment Obi Wan vanishes, a few dozen storm troopers abruptly change targets.  Without so much as a twitch to indicate the change in priority, these troopers begin to take out the rest of the storm troopers with an impressive speed and accuracy. They even hit Darth Vader, knocking him to the floor. All this to the astonished gazes of Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. Soon the troopers were the only imperials standing.
They each remove their helmets to reveal nighon identical faces. One of the troopers, with a prominent scar curling around his eye and a blaster in hand, steps up to Darth Vader who is still flat on his back.
This man looks down at one of the most feared men in the galaxy and says “To paraphrase my General, hello there you miserable bastard” and shoots Darth Vader in the face, killing him (No Anakin redemption for this part, sorry).
Then this man looks up at the other troopers still standing and says, “Take the bridge and the comm center first. Stun any brother that fights us. Kill any nat born that resists.”
And frankly it should have been ridiculous, a few dozen troopers against the hundreds if not thousands on the space station. However these clones were freshly freed and very very angry. The imperials never stood a chance.
Three of the troopers gently corralled the escapees (who are decidedly not resisting, these are not the same stormtroopers that couldn’t hit the ground using gravity) towards the trooper with the curled scar, commenting that they would finish their general’s final mission.
Another picks up the discarded cloak and lightsaber with a reverence bordering on worship. He hands it over to the trooper with the scar.
The scarred trooper introduces himself as Cody, still clutching Obi Wan’s robes and lightsaber close.  He says that in his last moments, Obi Wan had struck out wildly with the Force to free the clones around him, the remnants of the 212th (Vader had made sure to keep the 212th close, hoping to use them if he ever found Obi Wan and it was exactly as awful as you are picturing). In that brief touch of mind to mind Cody was able to glean his general’s last mission, to protect Luke Skywalker and rescue Leia Organa.
As soon as they took control of the Death Star, Cody turned that control over to Leia and the Rebel Alliance. Wooley is the one who gets to shoot and kill Tarkin (I don’t actually know why but it felt right). Cody starts the medics on dechipping the other chipped clones. It takes time but he convinces Leia that this is not a trick and she should comm the leaders of the Rebel Alliance.
Just after the comm connects, Boil (also among those freed by Obi Wan) begins to bleed out of his eyes, nose, and ears then drops.  Confusion and concern rise from the Rebel Alliance, and the defectors from the Imperials. The freed but chipped clones are not confused. They knew it was coming.
Cody explains, quiet and gentle in a way he had not been allowed to be in almost two decades, that his general’s last attempt to give them freedom was a wild thing. Uncontrolled and imprecise. Akin to hitting the chip with a large hammer instead of cutting it out with a scalpel. It broke it but also did untold damage to their brains. The only freedom he could give them was a few hours of freedom before death.
They arrange for a rendezvous with several of the Rebel Alliance Cells to full take control of the space station, they may have locked up or killed anyone who did not want to defect but the longer they went the more chance that enough of the 212th remnants would die that the DS would be put back under Imperial control. One by one the clones freed by Obi Wan drop, bleeding but going into death with a smile because they died free.
Cody lasted the longest, long enough that Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor arrived. Just long enough to collapse into Rex’s arms.  Rex pleads for him to hold on but Cody looks at him with a bloody smile and says ‘I need to follow my general. I want to follow my general.  Who knows what trouble he has already gotten into.’
And dies smiling, dies free.
That leads up to part the second.
Cody opens his eyes to see he was back on the bridge of the Negotiator. He is surrounded by clones but no nat borns, they are above Coruscant.  He does not yet know it but it is the middle of the Naboo crisis, just as Qui Gon Jinn is telling the High Council that he would take Anakin on a Padawan. Nor do they know yet that the entirety of the 212th was aboard and that none of them were chipped any longer; to a man they physically match Obi Wan’s age in this time and the Force has gone as far as to fix the accelerated aging.
The comm officer reports that Coruscant’s communications office is asking them to identify themselves.  The sudden appearance of a futuristic (being from 10 years into the future), and heavily armed, ship makes people very nervous.
Cody is put on the line and when asked to identify himself responds with “Commander Cody of the 212th battalion serving under Jedi High General Obi Wan Kenobi.” He may not know where or when he is, but he wants it clear from the get go that he holds no allegiance to the Empire (in fact he holds little allegiance to the Republic either), he would rather be shot down than be mistaken for an Imperial ever again.
The being on the other end goes, very quietly to themself, ‘that is a lot to unpack’ then clocks the that this Commander Cody said the magic word of ‘Jedi’ and not my circuses the entire thing over to the temple’s comm center (This specific part is based off a story my mom tells, she worked for a while in customer service testing the cords for the product that her company sold if they did not work. She also was unfortunately not the kind of person that would transfer someone if she could help, even if it was not her job so the sales team for her company started transferring anyone who said the word Cord to them, even if it was a question of what kind of cord the product took).
Down in the temple, in front of the High Council, this Obi Wan is decidedly from this time. A senior padawan who is on the verge of being rejected again. Before they can offer even a temporary decision on what to do with Anakin Skywalker, the High council is contacted by their comm center, stating that a battalion has appeared from nowhere claiming to be under the command of High General Obi Wan Kenobi and would like to speak with them. Also that the authorities of Coruscant are very uncomfortable with the heavily armed ship in orbit who is claiming allegiance to a Jedi, could somebody take care of that.
Everyone looks at Obi Wan, who is confused. The last time he was even a general was over a decade before on Melida/Daan. And he doubted that they would call themselves a battalion.
The High Council puts a pin in the Anakin debate, figuring this takes precedence. They formally invite Cody and entourage (Ghost Company) down to meet with them.  In the time it takes to arrange things the clones are able to confirm that the ones going to the surface do not have chips.
The clones have not quite realized that they are back in time.
They do realize something is up when Ghost company is escorted into the council chamber and realize that not only are all the high generals there (even ones they know for a fact are dead) but so is their very young looking general, a tall man that Cody had seen in a few of their general’s holo’s, and a small child that is clearly Anakin Skywalker (Waxer may have squealed over their internal comms at how cute the child skywalker was).
Cody rallies quickly (you cannot tell me that this man, who followed Obi Wan Kenobi around for three years, does not have a plan for surprise time travel). He gives a precise report, all military formality, of exactly who he is, who the clones are, an approximation of when he was from (timekeeping was not the chips strong suit), the war, Order 66, every fact he knows about the Empire. Then finishes with the fight between  Vade and the General, the General’s death and his last actions to free what clones he could (he was reluctant to discuss the consequences, in that freeing him as Obi Wan did killed them. Cody was quick to assure the younger Obi Wan that it was one of the greatest gifts that the Jedi could have given him).
All the while all the clones are radiating adoration towards Obi Wan (I really want Obi Wan, on the verge of being rejected again, never feeling quite good enough, to be faced with a battalion of men who love him and think he is the best thing ever. As a treat.).
It takes a direct, if hesitant, order from Obi Wan to stop the 212th from storming the Senate outright.
It is decided that the clones would escort Padme, her retinue, and the Jedi back to Naboo where they would assist in breaking the blockade (read: Cody told the High Council that they would be going if they had to hijack the queen’s ship as soon as it left orbit).  The clones make it exceedingly clear that they are following, and protecting Obi Wan, first and foremost, The Jedi in general second, Themselves third, and the rest of the sentients in the galaxy a distant fourth.
Little Anakin is more than a bit horrified to realize what he would have become. Various clones, who are not going to blame a 9 year old for the things he did as an adult in another life, talked to him about how he had changed over the war (becoming more reckless and less caring both clone and innocent lives in favor of completing his objectives) and they might not know why he became Vader, they suspected it was not within the 9 year old.  They also told, exaggerated as only second or third hand versions of a story can be,  stories about their general. In particular telling him stories of Obi Wan in his Padawan years (stories that Obi Wan had told them himself, during the war) that serve to make Anakin believe that Obi Wan is the coolest person ever (slave revolt anyone).
The clones are also really careful to make sure that Obi Wan understands that they are pleased to see him as he is now, not just for the person he could have been in a decade. This was the other reason they focused on stories that would have already happened to this Obi Wan, they did not want to give Obi Wan additional imposter syndrome regarding himself. Most of the clones spent a fair amount of time side-eyeing Qui Gon, not being outright hostile (though some were more than others; Obi Wan could be a little too honest on certain types of painkillers so a few of the medics and some parts of ghost company have heard some less than stellar stories about Master Qui Gon Jinn).
–Look I just want a few days of Obi Wan being pleasantly baffled at this large group of men who adore him and want to be around him and tell stories about how awesome he is (stories that he lived through, not just stories of his older self), particularly on the tail of the implied rejection from Qui Gon–
 They reach Naboo and the Trade Federation blockade is almost laughably easy to break. Several companies from the 212th are sent to liberate the camps the Nabooians are in.  Nute Gunray just straight up surrenders. Maul shows up but before he can fight anyone or lure the Jedi away, he is shot by a slug thrower carried by Cody.  It is all anti-climatic.
At the precise moment that, in the original timeline, Qui Gon Jinn died, Obi Wan suddenly staggered to one side, bumping into Cody.
He peered at the commander as he straightened back up, “Cody, you’re you again”.
The Negotiator had arrived, straight from the Death Star.
The memories settled in quickly, and Obi Wan had only a brief breakdown when he remembered what Cody had said about his method of freeing the clones.
Obi Wan has details that Cody did not, like that Palpatine was the Sith (Cody knew that Palpatine was the Emperor but did not know he was Sidious, because no one actually told the chipped clones anything) but is also very unwilling to go to the Jedi temple, or even Coruscant. He outright tells Qui Gon and the Jedi High Council that if he steps foot on Coruscant he will hunt Palpatine down.
He also decides he will not be rejoining the Jedi (Though from the perspective of the Jedi he was leaving, not refraining from rejoining).  They will always be his family, but twenty years virtually alone in the desert had not been enough to wipe the memories of feeling Order 66 go into effect. It could not wipe the memories of the temple in the aftermath.  In fact in many ways he was less socialized than he had been and the thought of being around that many different beings was excruciating.
When the 212th, complete with their general, depart from Coruscant (having dropped off Qui Gon Jinn) they leave with Anakin Skywalker (who no longer thinks he should be a Jedi. Qui Gon objects but is reminded that they do not compel or make anyone be a Jedi, it is a choice).  Obi Wan looks down at the 9 year old very seriously.
‘I cannot teach you to be a Jedi’ Obi Wan says, ‘we cannot have the bond that I had with your counterpart, because I can’t guarantee that I will always see you instead of him. And you deserve far better than to be compared with my demons. I can teach you control, and we can collect your mother. Then we can see what the future holds.’
They do find Shmi and free her, she decides that she and Anakin will travel with the 212th for a time. This turns into something more permanent as her own maternal instincts kick in immediately upon meeting this battalion of physically 25 year olds with enough trauma for 6 times that amount.
Their next stop, after picking up Shmi, is to head toward Kamino. By the time they reach it the CC’s have just been born, the first to be at double aging. The Alpha's are chronologically 6 months old and physically 18 months and the Null are chronologically 1 year, and physically 3 years old. They are even 2 years before the trainers arrive. The 212th collectively registers their complaint of their treatment in the previous timeline (they steal all the kids, Jango Fett, and genetic material; There may also have been some crude/rude phrases written in Kaminoan now decorating the halls of Tipoca city).
To be entirely honest I am not sure how much this would fix and how much it would make it worse.  However I know that from here on out, everything is much much weirder.  –Ok Here’s a breakdown of the timeline as I use it: Cody is listed on Wookipedia as being born in 32 BBY, the same year as the Naboo Invasion. Wookipedia also lists Jango’s recruitment in 32 BBY. The Nulls and the Alpha’s were decanted before the CC, as far as I know and I wanted them to be significantly older than the CC. So the Alpha’s and the Null’s have triple aging. The Kaminoans realized their product would age past their prime for the war, we are running with the Kaminoans are fully complicit and know when Palpatine plans to spark off the war, too quickly. So they slowed the aging to double in the CC and CT batches. So early 32 BBY Jango Fett is recruited, The nulls are decanted 4 months later, the Alpha’s 4 months after that, and the CC’s that include Cody 4 months after that (their growth tubes matured at the same rate, though their aging was different ) at the very end of 32 BBY. The Naboo Invasion occurred in mid to late 32 BBY and travel time between Naboo and Kamino, with a stop at Tatooine puts the arrival of the 212th not long after the CC’s were decanted –

Summary: Time passes, though things really don’t get easier.
Notes: The start of the Empire Strikes Back!
Tumblr media
Three years passed in the slowest of fashions. Despite your desire to run and hide—to live out your life by yourself—you could not leave Leia and Luke behind. It was your duty now to protect and watch over them.
You didn’t like how similar the Rebellion felt to the Clone Wars. It made you miss those of your past even more: Ahsoka, Padme, Crak, Cody, Rex, Anakin, and even Master Yoda. There is no one you missed more though than your beloved husband, Obi-Wan. And no matter how hard you tried to connect with him through the Force, you always came up empty. You remembered that Obi-Wan had said that it took ten years for him to connect with Qui-Gon. Unfortunately, you did not have the patience or faith to endure that.
Luke often asked you to train him. Occasionally, you would give in and spare with him but you refused to teach him in any of the matters of the Force. He was kind and understanding about it at first but as the years went on he grew more confused as to why you wouldn’t. You refused to give him any actual answer. There was too much baggage, you felt like, and it was too risky to tell Luke more information than he already knew. It was not time to tell him—or Leia—the truth about everything.
Han stuck around, though he constantly complained about staying and made excuses for leaving but never actually did. The two of you grew close as you would spend time together on his ship drinking. You got to know him well and he you—for the most part.
You often complained to Han about how the Rebellion was worsening your PTSD, which was true. You were struggling to get to sleep and when you did sleep, it was full of nightmares. You were reliving your worst memories, over and over again.
Han would often respond to your worries by telling you that he was going to get out of there and he would take you with him. You always wished that you could go, but told him you couldn’t leave Leia and Luke. He would question you as to why causing you to switch the subject, in which he never questioned you.
You hadn’t had an experience with the Dark Side like you had had that night, but you could still feel the darkness inside you. It was like it was waiting for the perfect moment to completely take hold of you.
Due to the Empire continually after them, the Rebellion had to keep moving from place to place. You were now located on the frozen, wasteland planet of Hoth. Currently, you were in the makeshift command center where, unfortunately, you spent most of your days.
“Captain Solo,” General Rieekan greeted the man as he came into the command center. “What’s the situation?”
“There isn’t a hint of life in the area,” Han reported on his and Luke’s recent life scan outside the base. “But all the perimeter markers are set, so you'll know if anyone comes calling.”
“Good, and Commander Skywalker?”
“He’s checking out a meteorite that hit near him. He’ll be in soon.”
“With all the meteor activity in this system, it’s going to be difficult to spot approaching ships.”
“The Empire won’t look for you out here. I’d say you’re all set with means it’s time for me to get going.”
“You’re leaving?” Leia questioned, straightening up beside you. You rolled your eyes. She and Han had such thick sexual tension but were too busy being petty with each other to do anything.
“That’s right.”
“You’re an extraordinary fighter,” Rieekan said. “I hate to lose you.”
“Thank you, General. But there’s a price on my head. If I don’t pay off Jabba the Hutt, I’m a walking dead man.”
“I understand. A death mark is not an easy thing to live with.” The General shook Han’s hand. “Until our paths cross again, may the Force be with you.”
The men gave each other a nod before Rieekan moved away. Han turned to you.
“I’ll miss you, kid,” he said with a small, playful smile.
You shook your head as you moved over and brought him in for a hug. “Still older than you,” you retorted.
“Still don’t care.” He pulled back to get a good look at your face. “Are you sure you don’t want to come? There’s plenty of room on the ship.”
You sighed. A large part of you wished that you could run away from your responsibilities here, but you couldn’t. “As much fun as that sounds, I need to stay here.”
“Shame. Chewie’s not as fun to drink with.”
You chuckled. “Stay safe.”
“Always am.” He smirked. “May the Force be with you, Y/N.”
You weren’t necessarily a big fan of that phrase right now but you weren’t able to not wish him well in the same fashion. “May the Force be with you.”
You gave his arm a squeeze as you walked away. Back at your station, you kept an eye out on Leia and Han. Han had moved closer to Leia.
“I guess this is it, Your Highness,” Han said, with some genuine feeling.
Leia was clearly angry. It was written on her face and you could feel it in her Force signature. Han shook his head, realizing that he would not get any warmth from her.
“Well, don’t get all mushy on me,” his tone was cooler now. “So long, Princess.”
Han walked out of the room. Leia stewed for a moment, glancing your way. You gave her a look that tried to tell her that she was being a little hard on Han. She huffed before marching after him. You shook your head and continued working.
~~~
“Han!” You ran through the base calling for the man, hoping it wasn’t too late. “Han!” You came out in the hangar, thankful to see the Millennium Falcon was still there. “Han!”
The man turned from where he was under his ship to face you. He chuckled. “I knew you’d change your mind, kid. I’ve already—“
“No, no, that’s not it.” You came to a harsh stop in front of Han, who placed his hands on your arms to steady you. “Why haven’t you been answering your communicator?”
“I shut it off.” He pulled away and turned back to his ship. “I didn’t need her royal holiness badgering me about staying more.”
“It was about Luke. He hasn’t come back. We don’t know where he is.”
He turned back to face you. “What do you mean, nobody knows?” He started looking around and yelling, “Deck officer! Deck officer!” Han found an officer.
“Excuse me, sir,” the deck officer said. “Might I—“
“Do you know where Commander Skywalker is?”
“I haven’t seen him. He probably came in through the South entrance.”
“It’s possible? Why don’t you go find out? It’s getting dark out there.”
“Yes, sir,” the deck officer rushed away.
Han looked back at you to see you emotional and panicky. Over the past three years, Han had learned a lot about you, and yet nothing at all. One of the things he had somewhat learned was how to read you. Slowly, he came back over to you.
“We have to find him, Han,” you said desperately. “I have failed at protecting everyone in my life. I cannot fail at this.”
He was confused at the true meaning behind your words but wasn’t going to push it. “This is not on you. I’m sure he’s alright.”
“No, you don’t understand. Luke is our only hope. He has to fulfill the prophecy because me and Ana—“ You stopped yourself quickly as you realized you were spilling too much information. “We just have to find him.”
Han was going to say something when the deck officer rushed up to the two of them.
“Commander Skywalker hasn’t come in the south entrance,” the officer informed the two of them. “Maybe he forgot to check in.”
“Not likely,” Han responded. “Are the speeders ready?”
“Not yet. We’re having trouble adapting them to the cold.”
“We’ll have to go out on tauntauns,” you said.
“There’s no ‘we’, kid. I will go, you need to stay here.”
“The temperature’s dropping too rapidly,” warned the officer.
“That’s right, and my friend’s out in it.” Han hopped onto one of the already saddled tauntauns.
“Your tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker!”
“Then I’ll see you in hell!”
Han then rode out of the base. You stood at the opening, watching him disappear into the snowy wasteland. R2 beeped as he rolled up to you.
“I’m worried about Luke too,” you replied. R2 beeped and whirled. “Yes, I know how important he is, R2.” Once again, the droid beeped. “No, I cannot be the Chosen One. It’s up to him now.”
~~~
It didn’t take long for Leia to join you at your post, watching the horizon for the men to return. C3PO and R2 were both with you. R2 was trying to pick up any signals from out in the blizzard.
“General,” one of the officers came up to you, “all the patrols are in. There’s still no contact from Skywalker or Solo.”
“R2 says he’s been quite unable to pick up any signals,” C3PO added. “Although, he admits that his own range is far too weak to abandon all hope.”
“Your Highness, General,” Rieekan came up to the took of you as he spoke, “there’s nothing more we can do tonight. The shield doors must be closed.”
You hated that you hadn’t gone after Luke with Han. Standing here, helpless, was not something you were okay with.
“Close the doors,” Rieekan ordered the officers, who quickly obeyed.
As the doors began to close, you closed your eyes and focused on the Force. You branched out to try and sense something, anything, from Luke or Han. You flinched slightly as you felt something all too familiar. Something you hadn’t felt in three years.
“R2 says the chances of survival are 725-to-1,” C3PO said, trying and failing to make you and Leia feel better. “Actually, R2 has been known to make mistakes… from time to time.”
“3PO, out of the kindness of my heart, please, shut up,” you told him, still keeping your eyes shut.
You reached out with the Force once again to see if the same familiar. When you did, your eyes snapped open and you spun around, rushing toward your quarters. You ignored Leia’s calls of your name. Once you were in your quarters, you leaned back against the door.
“Obi-Wan,” you rasped. “Please, show yourself to me… I know you’re there.”
There was no response. The feeling in the Force was even gone. Your head hung as tears sprung up in your eyes.
“I need you, Obi,” you began to cry. “I am not strong enough for this… just… show yourself to me… please.” You slowly slid down the door to your knees. “Why have you abandoned me?”

I need to ask say this to somebody and get their opinion so I hope you don’t mind.
Shmi and Cliegg’s relationship is weird right? Like he bought an enslaved women so he could free and marry her. There’s something about it that just seems not totally moral. I feel like Shmi couldn’t really consent to it and what other options did she have also who knows what would have happened if she didn’t agree to marry him.
I don’t know… I just feel like GL really didn’t think through the weight and implications of such a situation and as a white man I don’t think he understands the weight of slavery as a power structure and story element. I feels like he just picked the worst thing he could think of with no thought of how that would actually affect his characters and their development.
You know, this is a good point. Not sure where I read it but I think it was put forward at some point that they "fell in love first" and then he purchased her to "free" her - alleging that perhaps he didnt know she was a slave to begin with, and after he had fallen for her he became aware and sought to free her.
Despite that, you're right it's a very weird foundation for a relationship and inherently unequal - however, at least this is my opinion, I think maybe that was GL intention. (sidenote I believe GL is married to a black woman so I hope he has at least some brain in his head).
If you look at his work, GL never wrote romances that were fairytales or even worked. Just look at Padme and Anakin, Obi-wan and Satine (which he oversaw), Leia and Han even had tons of issues and didn't stay together, and he left romance out of Luke's life entirely. I don't think Lucas, for all that he is oblivious sometimes, ever intends to write pure or morally upright relationships. His interpretation of the galaxy was overall a darkly realistic one and Shmi's terrible situation and likely lack of personal choice and self-determination seems like an intentional move.
Anakin was certainly very anti Lars family when he arrived on Tatooine. You can tell he immediately distrusted them based on exactly what you wrote above, and deeply disliked both Cliegg and Owen - thinking them weak, simple, morally defunct, and feeling they abandoned his mother.
Anakin, who was now a grown and educated man, wordly and knowledgable of the Galaxy's issues, free of his Tatooine shackles - likely saw in Shmi's situation a reflection of his own with the Jedi. They were both "saved" from slavery and brought into a family but... were they? Was his mother allowed to think for herself, act for herself, wish for herself like he often felt he could not, himself, within the Order? Was his mother any more free than he was?
And then to find out she was, in his summation, abandoned to a grisly death? That is DEFINITELY an emotional trigger for him in that context - if the Lars family could leave the woman they "saved" to that fate... is that what the Jedi would do to him?
... Ouch.
I think you have a REALLY good observation here that actually delves into a LOT of Anakin's mindset when he returns to Tatooine. Great job. I really wish we would have more Star Wars media that focused on Shmi -- the forgotten Skywalker that started it all. I always wish that! It's always pissed me off they ignore here tbh. And it would give us more insight to her situation and feelings.

Star Wars for the fandom asks?
Character I first fell in love with:
So I first saw Star Wars at such a young age that I don't remember the first time I watched it. My parents had at one time a VHS home video made of various old photographs intended to help preserve them in case something happened (the photographs have since been digitized, I don't know if the VHS was too) but in the background you can here tiny little me watching Star Wars and quoting my favorite parts already.
I remember adoring Luke and Leia and Han already when I was four? Five? I dunno, young. So I'll go with all three of them. Cannot pick a fav beyond that.
Character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Anakin Skywalker. Don't get me wrong, Vader was cool in a badass villain way, but Anakin turned out to be a bit of a dork and I love that about him. The movies didn't do a great job of selling me on the character, but the extended universe - particularly the Clone Wars animated series - really fleshed him out and made him into someone I actually enjoy.
Character everyone loves but I don’t:
Garm Bel Iblis from Legends. He's an interesting character and it is generally a good thing when he shows up, but I never quite got over the fact that he misread Mon Mothma's character so badly he expected her to name herself Empress. He basically had a disagreement with her right after Alderaan blew up after which he essentially took his toys (his own rebel sect) and went home (to fight the Empire separately from the main rebellion) and refused to show up for years after the Rebellion founded the New Republic because he sincerely thought Mon Mothma was that much of a power hungry asshole.
Mon Mothma.
Just... let that sink in for a bit.
Character I love but everyone else hates:
Callista Masana (later Callista Ming). I don't know that she's exactly hated, but she's a love interest for Luke who wasn't Mara Jade so... you know... While I don't like her as a love interest for Luke - he was so awkward with her, the poor arospec farm-boy - I do like her overall character arcs and I do feel like her inability to connect to the light side of the force is wasted as a storyline when she popped back up after the loosely connected trilogy she first showed up in.
Her method of returning to life from death caused her ability to touch the Force to become so warped that she could only utilize the Dark Side from that point forward. Doesn't that sound fascinating? Way more fascinating than being absorbed by a dark side entity who impersonated her to screw with her ex boyfriend Luke Skywalker. Am I right???
Character I used to love but don’t any longer:
Jacen Solo. I love his early years in Legends but once he turned to the dark side I kinda burned out on him real quick. A lot of my issues with Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is that he's basically Jacen Solo minus any of Jacen's redeeming qualities.
Character I would kiss:
No kissing but I would happily accept platonic cuddles from Obi-Wan. Goodness knows he needs them.
Character I want to slap:
Qui-Gon Jinn. So much would have been averted if he hadn't been a bit of a self centered asshole. As poorly as he handles things with Obi-Wan in the movie? He's so much worse in the books.
A pairing I love:
Finn/Poe - it's so cute and it was hilarious to me how much the actors embraced the ship too.
A pairing I hate:
Rey/Kylo Ren - it's so creepy, creepy, creepy.

Got frustrated with Ahsoka today so have two things I would do to make her more interesting, feel free to take them an make fics and aus as long as credit is given:
Darksider Ahsoka - Consider that the whole warning during the Mortis arc is actually used and Ahsoka Falls, and she becomes a Terrifying opponent because she was trained by Vader, even if in his Anakin's era.
[More under cut]
She is a Menace as a Darksider, maybe keeping in the shadows and making every New Republic secret network Unsafe because she helped set them up as Fulcrum. Worried about the Sequels? No problem! Secret Darksider Ahsoka! Everyone top level of the New Republic knows and is trying to Stop Her but Ahsoka was the Fulcrum, which meant Spying and staying undetected, she could totally do that to the New Republic where they can't do Anything to stop her You could even bring Original Trilogy Group (Han Solo, Lando Clarissian, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Chewbacca) back to act as the main heroes! Want the Rebels back too? Have them as one of the people that Ahsoka is Playing and them slowly learning it and joining sides with the OT Group! Also way to fix the live action lekku problem - too long would be impratical? Ahsoka VS Luke lightsaber fight, Luke LOSING Badly and someone grabs a saber - maybe Luke lost his or something - and cuts off Ahsoka's lekku's - saving Luke and resolving the problem. You can have her Come Back to the light side but haver her Choices haunt her after Mando contacts her because he needs help from a Jedi and he lost Luke's Number? She gives him Luke's number because She Can't help him, she doesn't consider herself a jedi even more and the republic won't allow her into any more battles in fear she will turn on them AGAIN
Maybe she is in fucking jail or Can't be put in a jail for whatever reason (maybe she came out as a Jedi survivor and explained everything she did to help the Rebellion to trap the New Republic Even More so they couldn't Act against her in public) so she is watched 24/7 - maybe by the Rebel Crew or Sabine for some reason (hence giving Sabine a reason to be with her and a whole nother stress for finding Ezra! because Ahsoka Can Not Leave Republic Space Or Enter Battles) and is trying to get back to being a Jedi, to clinging to the Lighside/Balance and trying to remember every single Jedi Philosophy she was taught
And also come to turns that Anakin wasn't the best Master for her, that he taught her somethings wrong that she will have to unlearn Alone and try to figure out how the Jedi taught it, what was the correct way to learn.
Because there are no more Prequel Jedi around to help her
Semi-Immortal Ahsoka - we all know that Star Wars media won't let people age - main example being the whole mess with Bo-Katan - and we know Filoni won't let Ahsoka die.
So! Since we know that, how about we take it and run with it?
Ahsoka who became semi-immortal because of being brought back by the Daughter so now she ages MUCH slower and will outlive EVERYONE SHE HAS LEFT THAT SHE CARES ABOUT, who will live to millions
If she doesn't die again that is
Because I'm thinking of like. A timer. That resets every time she dies
(you can take this further and say that she ends up back to the age of when the Daughter rescued her every time shed dies and maybe or not it takes longer every time for her to age past that age)
Ahsoka who learned the hard way how to be The Fulcrum via A Lot Of Deaths that earned her the rumour that she fakes her death A Lot to avoid taxes/jk
Ahsoka who grows afraid of getting the same attachment (as George Lucas Defined Attachment, not the common misconception you fools) problems as Anakin and adding in the fact that no matter what she does she will outlive people so she Stays Away from everyone even more because she doesn't want to go through the pain of losing people
so why get close in the first place?

Has it ever been said why there was the need to make Thanos sympathetic in the first place? Meaning has anyone behind the mcu talked about the thought process?
I ask because the build up in mcu to Infinity War didn't seem to be going in that direction. Definitely not after vol 1 where we learned more about Gamora and Drax's history. Then suddenly they went the direction of maybe he had a point. Also they leaned into population control themes as a justification for genocide which I felt was troubling. Particularly with real world issues around similar subjects. The framing of the people on Gamora's planet as more primitive and struggling and Thanos coming in to fix it felt really off. Infinity War started out giving Gamora a voice and a well structured and acted look at the emotional toll her life with Thanos had. Then suddenly switched it up to frame him as having validity. It's interesting to me which bad guy characters creators will work really hard to make sympathetic and which characters will suffer the consequences.
It's also interesting to look at how fans reacted to Gamora's death with more than a few being willing to dismiss what it meant for her to only focus on Thanos. I saw way more people being adamant she needed to stay dead for the good of the story than some of the other characters who died except maybe heimdall who a lot of people seemed to ignore in general.
Fast forward to vol 3 and now I see more people coming to sympathize with Gamora's death in Infinity War when it comes to Peter's reaction and actions. What it means for Gamora however still doesn't get the same level of consideration. I have noticed that people are quick to view her actions in vol 3 as being evil or unacceptable, though her behavior was pretty understandable for the situation she was in and no more bad than behavior we have seen from characters like Rocket, Yondu or even Nebula in the past. There's also debate about whether she should count as a guardian, which I guess people can feel how they want but the standards for behavior and meeting the criteria to be included seem to be higher for her. Some people I interact with in fandom who felt they could at least understand where Thanos was coming from act like Gamora is too hard to identify with and she's the victim.
Sorry this is long and likely not as articulate as I was going for. But all the new gotg commentary has me curious about why they needed Thanos to be sympathetic and how that's reverberated through fandoms feelings for Gamora.
the russos had it in their heads that they wanted to create "this generation's darth vader" without actually understanding what makes darth vader a great and enduring character. like, that's essentially it.
what makes vader a great character and a great villain is that the story humanized him in a way that didn't make excuses for his atrocities. the reveal in the empire strikes back that he's luke's father... well, it's still the best twist in cinema history, because it turns the whole story on its head without compromising the integrity of it, all of vader's actions are cast in a new light, and you see there's a man inside that machine. return of the jedi really succeeds in driving that home by having vader sacrifice himself in the struggle against the emperor to save luke for a really effecting conclusion.
nowhere in there did giving vader humanity ever suggest he was actually right for destroying alderaan with the death star, or for torturing leia (who would turn out to be his daughter!), or for slaughtering countless people, or for supporting and enabling the fascist regime that is the empire.
and hell, your mileage may vary on the star wars prequels (personally, i love them — yes, even attack of the clones, which i objectively know isn't a good movie!), but what they manage to do by going into anakin's past and how he becomes vader further serves to humanize him without trying to say his actions are the right ones. the scene in attack of the clones where he slaughters an entire village of tusken raiders for killing his mother is framed by the film as something horrific; the same is true of the scene in revenge of the sith where he kills the younglings in the jedi temple and the whole third act of the movie that primarily deals with his descent into darkness. anakin's story is a tragedy, and we're meant to feel the weight of that, but we're also not meant to agree with his actions or his point of view.
that's where infinity war gets it completely wrong with thanos. and i know, i know, the movie intentionally framed him as its protagonist as a narrative device — and that's something that could be done well, but wasn't. and again, friends, let's remember that protagonist =/= hero (which i don't think the russos/markus and mcfeely understand lol), protagonist literally just means what character is principally driving the action of the story. there are countless examples of stories where you're meant to understand the protagonist but not validate their actions; hell, the anakin example from the star wars prequels above is one, as well as stories like bojack horseman, succession, etc etc and so on and so forth.
where infinity war particularly messed up on this, imo, was having the soul stone validate thanos's murder of gamora as a "sacrifice" and actually giving him the stone. that was bad on a lot of levels, and really led to a lot of people having the attitudes that they do. and, just, in general, there are a lot of reddit bros ready to chime in and agree with someone spouting a bunch of thomas malthus-esque rhetoric, people just willing to accept what happened to gamora because, you know, misogyny, and voila. you have mcu thanos and his shitty legacy enduring.

My Fics !
I realized I have very little connection between this account and my Ao3 account, so I figured I'd share a list of my fics on here in case anyone is ever interested :) WIPs are at the top, complete stories at the bottom
My WIPs:
In Darkness a Hope
An AU where Anakin wasn't found on Tatooine, Naboo fell, the jedi were blamed and scattered, war broke out, and the Empire began three years later. Anakin meets Ahsoka after she crashes on Tatooine, they run into Rex, and things snowball. Cody is also one of the two true main characters, but you wouldn't know it from his screen time at the beginning.
All That We Intend is Scrawled in Sand
An AU where Kix notices that something is up with Anakin, and that leads him to realize it may be connected to whatever's going on with the Guard. A few illegal choices later, he's in place to investigate. Basically, a Kix-saves-the-galaxy (with help from his friends) AU.
Marked
Also a work in my series about the Command Batch + Rex, featuring all of the commanders and the ways they're marked by the war. So far, Wolffe losing his eye and Rex getting his jaig eyes are written, with Gree, Bly, Fox, Ponds, and Cody still to come.
My Complete Works:
What Walks in the Shadows
Coruscant is haunted and Fox meets one of the ghosts, and proceeds to unravel a conspiracy as result. It's kind of sad but there's as happy of an ending as there can be in a fic where one of the main characters is already dead. It is a fix-it (because I am predictable) but it's set after Season 6 of TCW, so some people are already dead (rip Fives and Thorn specifically).
The Sins of the Father
My first Star Wars fic! AU where Fox manages to stop Order 66 before it's sent out to Cody, but not before Anakin takes the 501st to the temple. Mostly, it follows Luke and Leia coming to terms with who and what their Father is and what that means for them, via grand quests. Featuring: Jedi Healer Luke, Jedi Shadow Leia, Ezra Bridger being a good friend, Luke continually lacking self-preservation, and an ancient Force entity.
A Dance Among the Stars
A series following the Command Batch & Rex through the war. They're mostly short (like 2000-4000 words). Current works are:
The Tidings of War (When each member of the batch says the war began)
Many Meetings (They meet their generals and begin to trust them)
To See Again the Stars (Rex adopting Fives and Echo, and kind of Ahsoka, too)
Sleep No More (Ponds coming to terms with the deaths of his men)
Interlude (Conversations on leave between Rex & Anakin and Cody & Obi-Wan)
What Dreams May Come (Fox and the Guard being not okay)
What Was I Made For (Gree meeting Barriss and trying to help her through her feelings about war)
The Stars Their Ancient Courses Keep (Ponds having a conversation with Boba the night he's taken hostage)
A Buried and a Burning Flame (Five significant sunrises in Cody's life, and also maybe my pride and joy)
Something is Rotten in the State of Coruscant
An AU literally born from me going "What if Anakin was Hamlet?" Obi-Wan dies in the Rako Hardeen arc, and Anakin has to figure out how, exactly, that happened. One of the only times I've actually managed to let a character die, because it literally had to happen for the plot. The nerdiest thing I've ever done, and I stand by it.

You shouldn't like him.
You really shouldn't.
He was your Jedi Master. You shouldn't even have these feelings in the first place. It was against the Code. But you couldn't help it, could you?
There had been so many times when he'd taken care of you. He always seemed to know what you needed and how to make things better for you. He was a fantastic teacher and a great mentor. And he had saved your life more than once.
It wasn't fair that he should be alone now, though, was it? The man had devoted his entire life to the Order and then suffered for years afterward because of what he believed in. At least that was what you thought. You had cursed yourself for thinking such things. You really shouldn't project what you thought his feelings were. Only he knew what he was feeling.
The Order had fallen. Anakin, your partner in most missions, had died. And along with his secret wife Padme. You had the job to make sure those in the temple were safe and had gotten away. After what happened to most of the younglings, you were determined to get as many others as safe as possible.
After, you had gone with Obi-Wan, your master, to leave Luke and Leia with their new guardians for the foreseen future. It was a stressful and long journey, Obi didn't speak a single word. You understood. What had happened at the temple, ruined you. And, you knew it hurt Obi the most. Anakin was like a son to him... And a brother to you.
You sat next to him in the two of your new hideouts, on the planet of Tatooine. The two of you had found a little cave, which looked as if it used to be a home for another, but it was abandoned. From your escape, you had brought only a few essentials with you, and thankfully, you had brought a study mat that was big enough for you and Obi-Wan to both sleep on. Yes, it was very awkward at first, but after a couple of weeks, it felt like second nature.
Getting food wasn't so easy at times. You had gone into town and gotten a job as a bartender just to help you and Obi get by. It was hard, stressful, and dangerous work, but it brought food to the table, so it was all worth it.
Even when you weren't working, you were training or studying. You were learning everything you could about your new enemy, the Empire. Master Yoda had told you before that evil would come to your world soon and that you were to be ready. Though being a Jedi was dangerous when the Empire was hunting them down, you weren't one. In the mornings, you would practice in the rock valley, your light blue lightsaber striking towers of rocks and slicing them in two. At night, you studied before bed, learning the ways of the Force from an old book you were able to bring with you. You learned how to control your emotions and use the Force to heal people. You also used the Force to sense where enemies were, but it was difficult sometimes. You weren't completely ready.
At the bar, you made drinks for customers. It wasn't the best job, but it gave you good credits. But, there was one slight issue. There was one customer who came every once in a while only to talk to you. It didn't bother you at first, the Klatooinian would order a drink and sit at the bar before creating small-talk with you. Fortunately, you knew how to speak Huttese, so it wasn't too hard to keep up the conversation. You had found out that his name was Gravis Suk. But, this particular day, he was talking to you, and you could tell something was wrong.
He had this strange look in his eye, and the conversation you were having ended when he asked you a question.
"When do you get off work?"
You weren't going to tell him that. "I actually don't know. I'm filling in for another worker today."
"Do you want to go back to my place after work?" He asked and you frowned slightly.
"I can't, sorry."
The Klatooinian smiled and got off the bar stool, before placing his credits on the counter and leaving.
You sighed, before going back to work. You hoped he got the message and would leave you alone.
~~~
Later that afternoon, you were about done with your shift, greeting your co-worker who was replacing you for the night, you walked around the bar and out the back door of the pub. Looking up, you were startled when you saw Gravis leaning up against the adjacent wall. Pushing off, he walked over.
"What are you doing here, Gravis?" You asked, clutching your bag strap in your hands.
"Oh, I came to see you," He said, smiling. You rolled your eyes.
"Well, I'm busy right now." You started walking away.
But, you stopped when he grabbed your arm.
"Come on, only a night." He tried, but you shook your head.
With your free hand, you reached your waist. Kriff. You left your lightsaber at home.
"I'm not going with you." You spoke, pulling your arm out of his grasp.
"Why not? Come on, it'll be fun."
"That's not happening," you answered flatly.
He growled, grabbing your arm with more force this time. "You're coming with me."
"No!" You yelled, looking around and seeing no one was even near you to notice.
Looking around you, you eyed a large stone. With your free hand, you concentrated on using the force to move the rock. The rock moved easily, and you easily let it float higher in the air. Suddenly, you threw the rock right into the back of Gravis's head, knocking him out. You watched as he hit the ground, and you breathed heavily. With a quick movement, you moved around his limp body and ran all the way home and back to Obi-Wan.
Stopping at the entrance of your cave home, you tried to catch your breath. Finally, your body and mind were able to process what had happened, and you finally let out a soft sob. At the sound of your cries, Obi-Wan rushed over. Taking you in his arms, he held you tight.
Obi-Wan asked, smoothing down your hair. "Are you alright?"
You nodded, sniffling as you did. "Yes, I'm okay."
Pulling back slightly, Obi-Wan looked at you. Eyes gazing over your face, hands reaching up to wipe the tears from your face. "You're crying. What made you cry?"
You bit your lip, "Uh, there was this guy at work... Uh, it's fine though, I knocked him out before he could do anything."
Obi-Wan's eyes hardened, "What did he do?" He asked, voice deep and gruff in anger.
"Nothing," You said, shaking your head, "He was just trying to get me to go to his place after work. I refused."
"Are you sure you're alright?" He asked and you nodded, going back into his arms.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Now, I'm home." You reassured, Obi-Wan resting his cheek on top of your head.
"Good," He said, rubbing your back a little longer. "I just want you to be safe."
You smiled as you hugged him tighter, "I know. And, I am."
~~~
The next day, you hesitantly went to work. The first few hours went on as they usually did, but then Gravis walked in. He slammed his hands on the counter, growling.
"It wasn't nice when you knocked me out, Y/N. You're going to pay for that, sweetheart."
"Please, calm down." You ordered, and he scoffed.
"Don't you tell me to calm down! You think you can just walk right out of my life when you don't want to be bothered?" He yelled, causing a scene.
"You’re causing a scene. Now, sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." You spoke, putting on a brave face.
This time, you had your saber with you, but you knew you couldn't use it. You may have been able to take him down, but you didn't want to risk being caught by the Empire.
"You're going to regret this," He threatened before he left the cantina.
After work, you felt weird. You looked over your shoulder as you made your way through the little city on your way home. You felt as if someone was watching you. You placed your hand on your waist, feeling your saber that was hidden behind your long coat. Turning a corner, you shrieked as you grabbed from behind. You felt the cold barrel of a blaster press up against the side of your head.
"Don't fight it. You should've just come with me in the first place. It's your fault this had to happen."
Your eyes widen as you try and struggle yourself free.
"I don't want to kill you. I rather liked you." He spoke, jamming the blaster against your head further, making you wince.
"You do not want to do this."
"Shut up." He snarled and pulled the trigger. A shot rang out, hitting the rock wall of the building beside you.
You cried out in pain, falling to the ground and rolling onto your side. You looked up and saw Obi-Wan, having used the force to move the blaster away from you before you were shot. Obi-Wan then shoved Gravis up against a nearby wall, holding the collar of the Kaltooinian's garb. Eyes hard, he glared daggers.
"Stay away from her." Obi-Wan seethed, teeth bared.
Gravis smirked, "And, what are you going to do about it?" He hissed.
"Leave her alone. If you don't. I won't hesitate to kill you." Obi-Wan stated darkly, ignoring his taunts.
Roughly letting Gravis go, Obi-Wan turned to you, helping you up. You looked towards him, worried, as the two of you walked home. There was a tense feeling in the air. You glanced at Obi-Wan, his gaze ahead was still harsh; and a deep frown on his face. Yet, you also couldn't help but admire the man before you. Even though you hated being saved most of the time, he saved you. As always, you were forever grateful.
"Are... Are you alright, Obi?" You asked when you finally made it home.
"I'm fine." He replied, going inside.
You nodded, hanging your bag up on a wooden peg in the stone wall.
Walking into the bedroom, you sat beside Obi-Wan on the stiff bed. Again, it felt awkward.
Clearing your throat, you tried again, "Thank you for saving me, Obi."
"You're welcome." He responded softly, resting his hand, clasped together in his lap.
"Why were you out there today?" You asked, wanting to change the subject.
"Just doing my job."
"You don't have to protect me, Obi-Wan. I can sometimes take care of myself. I've been training."
He sighed, "I have to protect you." He looked down. "You're all I have left."
"I'm not going anywhere." You assured, putting your hand on his thigh. "I'm right here."
His eyes softened and he looked back at you, "I don't want to lose you too."
"You won't lose me, Obi. No matter what happens, I will never leave your side."
The two of you laid down together on the bed. You curled up close to Obi-Wan, snuggling in under the rough fabric that you called a blanket, wrapping your arms around him. His arms came around you, holding you close, nuzzling his nose into your hair on the top of your head. After a while, he spoke softly.
"I don't want to lose you because I have feelings for you." He muttered, eyes forcefully shut.
You didn't speak, letting him continue.
"I ignored my feelings and desires not only because of the Code but because if I lost you, it would hurt all the more." He opened his eyes and looked at you, "I love you, Y/N. I don't want to lose you. I don't want to lose anyone else. You're the only person in my life that I trust completely.
You smiled at him, "I feel the same way, Obi."
He leaned closer, kissing you gently. Your heart fluttered and you wrapped your arms around his neck. You giggled lightly as his beard ticked your cheeks, causing Obi-Wan to smile in the kiss. When he broke the kiss, he held you close, your head resting on his chest, hearing his quick heartbeat.
You fell asleep like that, curled up next to each other.

Which Star Wars movie is your favorite, and why? Also, what are your thoughts on the EU?
Return of the Jedi, and here's why:
I know that a lot of people pick Empire Strikes Back as the best of the original trilogy, and obviously it's pretty much the best from a technical/storytelling/emotional beat perspective. In contrast, elements of ROTJ can be repetitive (really guys, you couldn't think of something besides ANOTHER DEATH STAR?) and a little goofy (I don't hate the Ewoks or anything, but still). But it's the movie that most perfectly encapsulates what Star Wars is about, it makes choices that other sci-fi movies even today (indeed, especially today, with the focus on Grimdark Cynicism) never do, and it brings all the trilogy's character arcs and plotlines to a satisfying and emotionally resonant end. Alas that George Lucas hasn't been legally forbidden from messing with it after the fact (why, oh WHY, did he have to add in that silly ROTS-esque "NOOOO" when Vader decides to kill Palpatine and save Luke???), but still. It's the SW movie that gives me the most straight-up chills and feelings, because like???
The whole plotline of Vader being ultimately redeemed and making the choice, even at the end of his life, to reject the dark side and fulfill his destiny after all? He's one of the most iconic villains in movie history and yet you fucking CRY when he dies (I've seen this movie hundreds of times and LITERALLY EVERY TIME). Luke Skywalker, Padme Amidala and Beru Lars' son who has kindness seared into the marrow of his bones, looking pure evil in the face, throwing his lightsaber aside, and announcing that he's not going to stoop to its level, he will not fight it, he will not turn to the dark side, he will do better? The MUSIC during Vader and Luke's duel??? The fact that a movie in 1983 let Lando Calrissian be the hero who destroyed the Death Star? Han and Leia continuing to be OTP #goals, from the Jabba's-palace-rescue to the callback to the ESB "I love you/I know" with Leia getting to say it? THE FINAL SHOT OF OBI-WAN AND ANAKIN (AND YODA BUT YES) REUNITED IN DEATH AND AT PEACE IN THE FORCE, GAZING SMILINGLY UPON THEIR CHILDREN TOGETHER???
IT'S ALL SO MUCH, AND IT GIVES ME SO MANY FEELINGS, AND YES. The emphatic affirmation of goodness, decency, courage, and compassion, the story of the good guys actually getting to win because they're not "morally equivalent" to the bad guys and everything is a morally relativistic Machiavellian hellscape etc etc Nobody Believes In Happy Endings Because We Are Very Smart? It's genuine and genuinely emotional in a way that so much modern media (ESPECIALLY the sequel trilogy) shies away from or tries to be "ironic" about, and that's why it really works.
As for the EU, I read every single book, more or less, in my Star Wars-obsessed teenage years. Obviously, the wide variety of authors and plotlines meant that some were better than others, and I would definitely have a different perspective on them as an adult. But they were an integral part of my childhood and I am still absolutely on the "Han and Leia got married, lived happily ever after, and had three kids, Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin" train. Likewise, they could have stopped before killing everybody and making everything go dark since they were out of ideas (Chewie's death in Vector Prime TRAUMATIZED me, as did the subsequent killing/darksiding of Anakin and Jacen Solo), but anyway, yes. The fact that I am now almost 34 years old and getting back into an actual Star Wars hyperfixation is deeply amusing to me. Full circle, and etc.

hi hi 👋🏽 can you tell me about jacen ?
OH BOY CAN I EVER!!! Under the cut because this got... way too long. If you can't tell I'm VERY passionate about my Star Wars ocs, haha.
He's one of my Star Wars OCs, set during the sequel trilogy and part of my massive sequel trilogy rewrite. He's the son of Luke Skywalker and my OC Jana Palpatine and the older brother of Rey, who in my universe is a biological Skywalker (because I can do what I want and damn it if I want bio ReySky and Damerey and Finnrose I damn will well)
He is Force Sensitive, and was best friends with Ben Solo, Poe Dameron, and my other SW sequel OC, Tenel Kha, who is also his love interest. When Ben Solo goes Dark Side, Tenel Kha goes with, so not only is Jacen's life turned upside down, but his girlfriend also takes part in it. And it's not over, because he can feel through the Force when Jana blocks Rey's Force presence, making him think she's dead, and then feels Jana's death. If that's not enough, Luke - unable to take the guilt - fucks off to Ach-To after making sure Jacen is safe and cuts himself from the Force, basically feeling like he died to Jacen.
Because of everything, Jacen basically puts being a Jedi behind him, and helps his Aunt Leia with forming the Resistance. He doesn't actually meet Rey until Starkiller Base, though he has reason to suspect from his Uncle Han and Poe's words that she reminds them of his little sister, so initially he is just going to protect her since he wasn't able to so for Rey, but surprise! It's actually Rey. So while he is kind of awkward around her - he remembers her as a cheery little girl - he also stick to her side like glue and tags along with her and Chewie to Ach-To to find Luke. And basically him and Luke get into it, mostly Jacen venting years of frustration at him, eventually Jana's Force Ghost gets involved which leads to more venting, it takes awhile but eventually Jacen and Luke do begin to mend their relationship.
Oh, and Tenel - who is known as Peonus Ren - has been having doubts about the First Order ever since they captured Poe, and decides to defect after saving Han's life from Kylo, so eventually her and Jacen do fix things and decide to get back together.
In all honesty if it WASN'T for the fact the Dark Side is largely to blame for his life going to shit, Jacen likely would have continued the Skywalker family tradition of going Dark Side. He definitely isn't a Jedi, but also not a Sith. He's somewhere in the middle. He is also the only real contact Anakin has with anyone in the family, since Luke cut himself off from the Force, Leia wants nothing to do with him, Ben/Kylo is too deep in Snoke/Palpatine, and Rey doesn't know who this kind blue figure that helps her is.
He was HEAVILY inspired by Jacen Solo from the EU/Legends, because screw Disney for throwing them out and leaving us with Discount Jacen Solo known as Ben Solo, but also heavily influenced by Sam Winchester somewhat. Jared is my faceclaim because he has always been my choice for Jacen Solo and also, he would work as the son of Luke x Jana and as Rey's brother. Plus I just love him in general.

Weekend Top Ten #635
Top Ten Funniest Moments in the Star Wars Movies
I did have a whole other list prepared to go this week, but then I noticed that Saturday is actually May 4th – which, of course, has become Star Wars Day around the world.
May the Forth be with you, and all that. Yeah?
Anyway, as such I did a reverse womp rat and decided to write a list about Star Wars. I’ve covered the saga quite a few times, so trying to find a new and interesting angle can be a challenge (but, hey, if I can find new things to say about Transformers then surely I can manage it with Star Wars, right?). As such, I’ve honed in on something not much talked about in the history of a galaxy far, far away: humour.
Generally speaking, I think most people would agree that Star Wars isn’t particularly funny. Sure, it’s not generally dour or overly serious, despite moments of heightened melodrama; and, yes, there are definitely lighthearted, bouncy sorts of characters who propel the narrative and keep the films feeling fun and propulsive (yer Han Solos and Poe Damerons). But funny? Is Star Wars often actually funny? To be honest, when the franchise has gone all-in on attempts at humour, it tends to get heavily criticised; from the antics of Jar Jar to the sarcasm of Luke Skywalker. The criticism varies from humour feeling out of place, somehow, or childish; despite the camp bickering and mild slapstick of Artoo and Threepio being prevalent right from 1977. Indeed, a few quotes here are from the very first Star Wars film; so perhaps there has always been an undercurrent of humour?
The broad melodrama of Star Wars means that – certainly in the register of the movies – comedy has a welcome place, even if the films themselves aren’t the laugh-fests of, say, most MCU movies. Star Wars films are like Shakespeare’s histories; full of drama, political intrigue, and a fair bit of death and despair, but also relying on stock comic relief characters, moments that play to the younger end of the audience. I’d still argue that the movies are, for the most part, children’s films, but even if you say that they’re just part of the overall PG-13-ification of Hollywood, they definitely have to remain suitable for children. As such, Ewoks and Jar Jar and BB-8 are a terrific – and often very funny – focal point for the nippers; as intrinsic to Star Wars as lightsabers and dodgy dialogue.
Anyway, the point I’m making is that Star Wars, whilst far from hilarious, does have its fair share of amusing characters and witty lines. And this list celebrates some of my favourites. My big surprise in writing it? How many were spoken by See Threepio!
Tumblr media
“Wanna buy some death sticks?” (Attack of the Clones, 2002): I didn’t know which Obi-Wan Kenobi bit of prequel business to choose from, as they’re so many; he’s clearly the most consistently funny character in the trilogy. His dry, camp delivery is amazing; from “good job” when being “rescued” by Anakin, to “hello there” and beyond. But this scene is iconic: Elan Sleazebaggano (yes, really) tries to sell Kenobi some “death sticks”, but is Jedi mind-tricked into going home and rethinking his life. It plays, obviously, on our knowledge of Obi-Wan’s mind-trickery, but the deadpan delivery of both characters adds to its humour.
“I don’t like you either.” (A New Hope, 1977): Artoo and Threepio’s camp married couple bickering is a highlight of the original trilogy, especially the first film. Like Obi-Wan’s dry one-liners, there’s just so much to choose from; “near-sighted scrap pile” is another nice little insult from the bitchiest droid in the verse. But the small pettiness of this, after Luke has left them alone, is a hoot; reinforced, of course, by Artoo’s vocalisations, especially the sorrowful whine after Threepio turns his back.
“Who’s scruffy-lookin’?” (The Empire Strikes Back, 1980): I’d argue this might be the second most famous Star Wars exchange after “I am your father”; Han needling Leia until she snaps, calling him – among other things – a “scruffy-looking nerf-herder”. The button on the bit is that the only thing Han takes offense at is “scruffy-looking”. Then she kisses her brother. I’d sooner kiss a wookiee.
“Boring conversation anyway.” (A New Hope, 1977): Han is often portrayed as the cool and unflappable rogue hero, but when he attempts to bluff the Empire over comms, he becomes well and truly flapped. Harrison Ford’s little wince after he asks “how are you?” is a joy. And, of course, when it gets to much, he blasts the comms panel, and delivers this great final line.
“Of course I’ve looked better!” (The Empire Strikes Back): yes, more of Threepio’s banter. The running escape from Cloud City is an excellent, tense action scene, with a partially-disassembled Threepio stuck in a rucksack on Chewie’s back. As Artoo drags him onto the Falcon, he whinges about the wookiee “being the death” of him; Artoo merrily bleeps and bloops, prompting Goldenrod’s tart reply.
“I believe he’s tooling with you, sir.” (The Last Jedi, 2017): the humour in The Last Jedi was one of the elements of the film that proved contentious; however, my memory is that this scene absolutely slayed when I saw the film. Whilst I do want to shout-out my boy Eddie Hitler, aka Adrian Edmondson, as the First Order officer who politely delivers the line I’ve chosen, really the comedy comes from Domhnall Gleeson’s exasperated and confused performance as General Hux reacts to Poe Dameron’s “tooling”.
“Mine! Or I will help you not!” (The Empire Strikes Back, 1980): a classic bit of Muppet magic from Frank Oz, as Yoda’s secret introduction allows him to show off all kinds of mischievous energy. His giggly, wide-eyed enthusiasm as this weird little toad-creature is infectious and disarming, but it’s his squabble with Artoo – including the delightful way he grabs his stick and batters the droid – that makes it art.
“Reach out…” (The Last Jedi, 2017): maybe the other contentious, funny, scene. Luke asks Rey to “reach out”, which she does physically, so he pretends she can feel the Force. It’s a nice bit of slapstick, well performed by Ridley and Hamill; and it’s interesting to contrast it to the silliness of Yoda. Personally, I don’t se any difference whatsoever in the two scenes; they’re both attempting to subvert or play with the concept of “wise old mentor”, they both reveal character aspects of those involved, and they’re both really funny.
“Oooh, maxibig da Force. Wellen, dat smells stinkowiff.” (The Phantom Menace, 1999): I remember a criticism of The Phantom Menace being that there was no Han Solo-esque “voice of cynicism”. Step forward Mr. Binks, who clearly doesn’t believe in the Force, and spends most of the first act boggling at the foolhardiness of his Jedi rescuers. This particular line, when he sarcastically praises the Force, is just terrific. Or is it “bombad”?
“Go on, BB-8, tell her.” (The Force Awakens, 2015): probably my out-and-out favourite moment of The Force Awakens, and one that – like the opening “tooling” scene of Last Jedi – brought the house down. Finn is trying to get BB-8 to go along with his Resistance cover story, and the droid’s mute (well, indecipherable) reactions – spinning his head between Finn and Rey – are just fantastic. And then it culminates with his now-iconic “thumbs up”. Gah, where was all this during The Rise of Skywalker?
See? Funny. Lots of funny. Quite a lot of stuff I didn’t have room for, either; I deliberately kept the Obi-Wan-isms to a minimum, although I did stuff the list full of Threepio-isms. I didn’t put any of Kaytoo’s deadpan misanthropy in there; nor any more of Han’s grumpy humour (and not a single finger point!). And sadly I didn’t really have room for some of Leia’s great put-downs, like “walking carpet”. But the big scene that just slipped off the list? Why, the infamous trash compactor scene, and Threepio’s hilarious bit of business at the end. Curse my metal body!

One of the things I love about star wars time travel AUs are that they allow you to stick characters together and manufacture the situation for Maximum Chaos. Some of my favorite iterations of this are:
Leia gets sent back to the prequels. Because she’s Leia, she verbally eviscerates everyone she deems either incompetent, downright malicious, or both. Because it’s the prequels, that means she verbally eviscerates everyone. Please imagine 5′1″ Princess Leia Organa staring down 6′4″ Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and telling him that he’s an idiot. Please imagine him losing the stare-down. Please imagine her repeating this process on the entirety of the Jedi Council, before shooting Palpatine while giving him a withering look. Palpatine technically dies from the blaster shot, but everyone agrees that it was the glare that really did him in.
Obi-Wan gets sent forward in time to about a week a week after ANH. Vader, who has presumably been doing his brood-in-his-evil-futuristic-hyperbaric-chamber thing, suddenly feels Obi-Wan again. This does not surprise him, because Obi-Wan disappearing just as he was about to get sliced in half is a little too convenient for a man who faked his death on four separate occasions. When he hunts Obi-Wan down, Obi-Wan is young, ginger, and under the impression that Vader is a Sith Lord that he’s never met. Vader’s fury that Obi-Wan is somehow alive is only matched by his fury that Obi-Wan doesn’t even remember barbecuing him, and, as such, he cannot figure out what to do. Queue Vader standing stock-still, having an existential crisis while staring at Obi-Wan, who just wants to know what the hell is going on.
Luke from just before ANH gets sent back in time to the height of the Clone Wars. He and Anakin get captured and stuck in a cell together, but neither of them reveal their names. Eventually Luke starts talking about his dad, the spice freighter pilot, and how he died in a tragic brakes accident while on Tatooine. When he does mention his dad’s name, Anakin’s only reaction is a horrified “I die on Tatooine????!!!”
Luke and Han get sent back to AotC and end up on Kamino. In between Han trying not to punch every clone he comes across (they all look like that bastard), Luke makes friends with a lot of the future officers. Since he’s technically a Jedi, when he suggests overthrowing the Kaminoans, they decide to follow him. What ensues is the shortest revolution in the history of ever. The Kaminoans have no defenses, and they can’t activate the chips themselves. When Jango Fett gets back, Han actually does punch him in the face, because hitting a kid is beneath him and this guy is technically also a Fett, so it counts. Luke, Jango, and Han start a union for the clones. Whenever Palpatine tries to conscript them, he gets thoroughly and politely told off, until he makes the visit himself, at which point Luke tosses him down a reactor shaft.
Padmé from the Clone Wars gets sent forward in time to a year or two after RotS. She finds Vader, convinces him to kill Palpatine, and goes to find her babies. She spends her days splitting time between building a new Republic, helping Anakin through his redemption arc, and playing with her kids. Also, she gives Obi-Wan a hug. Because he deserves it.

Last time I went about five months between doing a set of STAR WARS fic recs, this time it’s only been three months! Hurrah! It helps that, as always, this fandom puts out an incredible amount of excellent fic, so I feel like I’m never hurting for fics I want to yell about and shove at people, which is something I continue to appreciate as it often feels like so much of the world is such a huge tire fire. It helps to be able to find fics to retreat into, to have fun with, to express joy and creativity with, and so many of the authors in this fandom are just so good at this! To the point that these sets sometimes take awhile because there are always more fics I want to add, until the post starts threatening to be overly long instead of a decent length–in my defense, no seriously, you guys are just too good! Also, I forced myself to stop at 69 fic recs, because yes I do think it’s funny. (Nice.) KENOBI SPOILERS
Gurl give me one person who IS ok after yesterday! The episode was so good but it hurt like hell. God I think I dreamt about it (I remember some segments, I will need to check if they actually happened or I imagined them). This show will be the death of me. Obi seeing Padme in Leia. My emotions couldn’t take it. The fact that Quinlan is alive and smuggling children makes me happy. It probably wont happen but I hope that he and Obi meet and we see him in live action. Or even better give him his own show. Vader vs Obi Wan. No. My heart broke. “I am what you made me” that is going on my grave as the reason I died. Vader dragging Obi Wan trough fire as payback. I mean we can really see Anakin in it. He (Ani) would do it to and you know what so would I. I love you Obi Wan but, payback. Sorry if it’s to long I just had to get it out.
I GET YOU
I screamed when Obi-Wan said Quinlan. There is just something deeply satisfying in hearing Ewan saying that name. Like, it really is canon that they were friends. And yeah TCW is canon but seeing this in live action just hits right in the feels.
The ending is so poetic because just like Anakin was burning in ep 3, Obi-Wan is burning in episode 3. It's so petty on Vader's side to do this but Vader is Anakin and it fits him perfectly to do this because he still blames Obi-Wan for what happened.
I could talk hours about this episode. It was fantastic and I love how they are handling Obi-Wan's PTSD. That he knows he is not in the best form so when he sees Anakin he runs. He also does that because he is genuinely scared of what happened to his brother. He was his family after all.
So yeah I am still not okayyyy
