I’m a queer refugee, forced to flee home and abandoned by those I trusted. I’m surviving on hope and the kindness of strangers. This is my story, my struggle, and my truth. If you see me, hear me, and can help—thank you. https://chuffed.org/project/1345help-kavuma-abdallah-with-refugee-hardships

During Lesbian Visibility Week, I’m Asking for Your Support
Lesbian Visibility Week is about celebrating and uplifting women who love women—but it’s also a time to shine a light on the broader LGBTQ+ community and the struggles many of us still face.
As a gay Ugandan, I was forced to flee my country simply because of who I am. I sought safety in Kenya, but I was met with more danger, and I’ve since had to escape once again. Now, I’m in a neighboring country, trying to survive with very limited support.
This week, while we amplify the voices of lesbian sisters, I’m also reaching out as a fellow LGBTQ+ person asking for help. I’m trying to rebuild my life in safety, with dignity, and every donation makes a huge difference.
Your support can help me cover basic needs—food, shelter, medication—and move closer to long-term safety and freedom.
If you’re able to help, here’s how:
If not, please share this post. Solidarity saves lives.

The reality for people in Saudi Arabia is not only is their sexuality a criminal offense, but it's punishable by death. My friend is currently living in that reality, trapped as a lesbian woman with no freedoms or independence.
I beg of you to find it in your heart to read her story, spread the word, and donate if you can. She has hope for a life in Australia under political asylum, but she needs funds in order to travel there.
If you are LGBT+, this is one of our siblings begging for a chance to live and love freely. Please consider 🙏 Please reblog

You Can’t Bun Queer Joy
They lit matches with laws,
torches with tongues,
hoping the flames would swallow our songs.
But darling—
you can’t bun queer joy.
Tumblr media
We dance in the ashes,
twirl through the smoke,
make glitter out of grief,
make rhythm out of choke.
You tried to torch our names,
erase our love,
but we ink it louder—
on skin, on walls, in every hug.
You can't bun the way we laugh in full color,
or the way we hold hands like rebellion.
You can’t torch a soul that blooms in defiance,
that loves in full volume,
that sings even when silenced.
We are fireworks in forbidden skies,
rainbows born where the pain dries.
Try if you must,
with your hate and your ploys—
but hear this loud:
You can’t bun queer joy.

In a world that tries to erase us, we stand bold.
In the shadows of silence, we speak truth.
Our existence is resistance—our love, a revolution.
Through pain, through fear, through exile and shame—we remain.
We are here. We are queer. We exist.

I Need Your Help to Survive
Tumblr media
The situation where I am has become extremely difficult due to an ongoing internal war. The conflict has caused food prices to skyrocket, and right now, I don’t have anything left to eat.
I’ve been trying to hold on, but things have become unbearable. Every day is a struggle just to get through. I am reaching out to you—my queer family, friends, and allies—because I believe in the power of community. If you can spare even a small amount, it could make a big difference.
This is an urgent plea. I need support to buy food and get through these hard days. If you’ve ever been hungry, you know how deeply painful and exhausting it can be. I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t critical.
Please, if you can, donate. No amount is too small. Every little bit helps, and I would be endlessly grateful for your kindness.

You still have a chance to do something no matter what your answer is ..
In many parts of the world, being true to yourself is not just difficult—it’s dangerous. For countless LGBT individuals, simply existing means facing violence, rejection, imprisonment, or even death. Many are forced to flee their homes, families, and communities in search of safety. But the journey to freedom is often just as brutal as what they’re escaping from.
Tumblr media
As LGBT refugees, we are among the most vulnerable. We are often overlooked, even in spaces meant to offer protection. In refugee camps or host communities, discrimination doesn’t stop—it follows us. We are targeted for who we are. We are denied basic services. We are pushed to the margins.
But there is hope—and that hope lies in solidarity.
We are calling on kind-hearted individuals, allies, and organizations to stand with us. Your donation, no matter the size, can make a real difference. It can help cover essentials like food, shelter, medical care, mental health support, and legal assistance. It can help us survive—and begin to heal.
Your support is not just charity—it is a statement that we matter, that our lives have value, and that we are not alone.
Here’s how you can help:
1: Share this message with your networks.
2: Raise awareness about the challenges faced by LGBT refugees.
3: Advocate for policies that protect and uplift queer asylum seekers.
4: Donate
We are more than the trauma we’ve endured. We are resilient, we are brave, and with your support, we will thrive.
Stand with us. Speak out. Give what you can. Together, we can build a world where no one has to live in fear for being who they are.

I personally see myself as being judged as not good queer rep, as aroace who dates, "feminine" trans, "emotionless" trope, alien/robot/outsider coded, etc.
This poll is because i am often thinking about characters that are considered bad rep, but I know people in real life are LIKE THAT and identity is messy! In my opnion bad queer rep would be the ones that are shown or touched upon on screen. Idk, just wondering.
Edit: lmao i wrote hood isntead of good and tumblr didnt let me edit

Ice cold takes from a Transgender Woman:
Not all Men are evil
Everyone has the capacity for evil
Transgender Men are men
Transgender Women are women
Excluding Cisgender Men from your spaces requires Transgender Men to out themselves if they want to engage (Same for Women)
Anyone can be Non-Binary, there is no "look" or requirement
Non-binary masculine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces, many are just treated as men and predators
Non-binary feminine presenting people should be welcome in queer spaces without being seen as "Woman-Lite"
