are you still working on the Elijah mikaelson Bridgeton fic?
I'm sorry it took so long 😭😭 Lots of life changes have been occurring. But here it is, a small blurb of what could be the start of a series if you guys like it.
The Social Season
Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x reader Summary: The Mikaelsons have returned to London for this year's social season. No girl had ever caught Elijah's eye before, until now. Word Count: 2772 Masterlist
Tumblr media
London 1814
The London social season had been in full swing by the time the Mikaelsons had returned to the city during one of Lady Danbury’s events. Elijah and his siblings had barely walked through the doors before ruthless mamas began to smooth our their daughter’s dresses while eyeing them from across the room. Elijah was the prize, certainly, but if any woman was to catch a Mikaelson son at all they would consider it a win. Rebekah had also never had a difficulty keeping her dance card full.
It was well past the first soiree of the season, but it was the first that the Mikaelson siblings had made an appearance at. The marriage-minded missus of the city (and their mamas) always kept a keen eye out for them. While they may not have had the status of the Duke, the Mikaelson family was both well known, respected, and equally as feared. Not even Lady Whistledown dared to write more than their names.
“Must we return to this god-awful city every year?” Niklaus groaned as the wave of young bachelorettes swarmed towards them.
“Speak for yourself,” Kol smiled, watching the ladies with a much different expression. “I rather like being adored.”
“Mikaelsons!” they all heard coming from the opposite direction. Upon inspection they saw none other than Anthony Bridgerton advancing towards them. Rebekah and Elijah turned toward him with bright smiles with Niklaus and Kol tended to the hoard of ladies with empty dance cards.
“Bridgerton,” Elijah greeted with a smile, meeting his arm in the middle to shake his hand in greeting.
“You’ve missed a great amount in the short few weeks you’ve been absent this season.”
“Yes, well, we had some family business to tie up back in the states across the water.”
“No matter, you are all here now. You must join our family for a promenade sometime soon so I might regale you with all the happenings from the season thus far.”
“I’m sure we’ll catch up plenty with a reading of the last couple Lady Whistledown issues,” Rebekah remarked with a small chuckle.
“Yes but surely, sister, as you know as well as I Whistledown doesn’t know everything,” Elijah corrected before turning back to Anthony with a smile. “We’ll be glad to join you, Bridgerton. You shall name the day.”
“Fantastic! Oh and we must not forget the ball my mother is hosting at our estate in the country. You’d all be welcome there as my guests if you so desire.”
“I would be honored, my lord,” Rebekah said with a smile, bowing her head slightly. It was no secret that she fancied the man. Her whole family could see it. While Rebekah had no intention of being courted or heavens forbid marrying anyone, she could still dream about the life she might live were she able to. The beautiful family that might surround her. The number of children she and the viscount might have been able to have together. But that was nothing more than a fantasy. Precisely the reason that Elijah was hardly ever seen taking any young ladies to the floor. He felt it foolish to fill them with futile hopes of him proposing. Every respectable lady of the ton desired marriage, children, a real family. Something none of the Mikaelsons would be able to provide.
Nonetheless, the Mikaelsons always appeared before the ton each year during the height of the social season just long enough to maintain appearances. Not to mention, Kol had not found an easier afternoon snack than that of a young lady hoping for a betrothal. They never killed any of the members of the ton, of course. Such a high standing society member would surely be missed. Nothing a bit of the vampires’ own blood and a little compulsion couldn’t resolve.
“You must meet my dear cousin,” Anthony stated after a brief moment. “She’s come to live with us after the passing of her mother, my aunt.”
Anthony turned as he beckoned you over to them. Elijah sighed as he looked down at his feet, readjudsting his posture to be more proper as he awaited your arrival. When his eyes met yours, however, his reluctance towards the introduction vanished.
“Mikaelsons,” Anthony continued. “This is my cousin, miss Y/n Ledger.”
“A pleasure,” you said with a polite smile and a perfect curtsy.
“The pleasure is mine,” Elijah replied quickly, offering his hand for you to take. Once you softly placed your hand into his, Elijah brought it ever so slowly up to his lips as he touched the softest kiss to your gloved hand; an action that did not go unnoticed by Rebekah, nor the ravenous mamas behind them. Elijah was not one to give more than a curt nod to young ladies introducing themselves. “Lady Ledger-”
“Just miss Ledger,” you corrected. “Lady Ledger was my grandmother.”
While the response was simple, it answered many of Elijah’s questions. For one, you were not married. If you had been married you would either hold a title as a lady or hold a different last name than your grandmother. Second, your mother was not married. Had your father been a Ledger himself, your mother would hold the title of Lady Ledger, not your grandmother. As that title is still her grandmother’s to hold, your mother hadn’t married a lord to gain the title herself. Thirdly, she must be related to the Bridgertons through the sister of the current vicountesses Bridgerton.
“Pardon me, Miss Ledger. Would you care to do me the honor of a d-”
“Y/n, surely you must join me for a cool glass of lemonade,” Rebekah interrupted, linking her arm through yours as she dragged you away to the drinks table.
Elijah stood dumbfounded as you both walked away. Rebakah knew it was improper to interrupt, but after living for 800 years she couldn’t come to care. Elijah watched your expression closely. He expected a protest, or for you to at least look back towards him. There wasn’t a chance you didn’t catch what he wanted to ask you. Any other lady would have jumped at the opportunity to be led to the floor by a Mikaelson. Especially by Elijah, being the eldest for all intents and purposes.
As soon as the two of you were gone, Elijah was swarmed by the ton much like his brothers were just moments before. Nikalus and Kol could not agree to another single dance, having agreed to partner with a different lady for each one, so naturally the crowd has turned next
‘’ towards both Elijah and Anthony, knowing this was the season the viscount longed to secure a wife.
Anthony looked towards Elijah with raised eyebrows as he let out a deep sigh before having to face the wolves.
---
As the week went on, Elijah and Rebekah agreed to join the Bridgerton family in a turn about the park in Mayfair. Rebekah loved their family. She envied Violet’s ability to have so many children. A life she longed for herself. Elijah, on the other hand, wanted to know more about you.
“Bridgertons,” Elijah greeted the family with a nod as they approached. “Miss Ledger,” he said toward you.
“My lord,” you greeted back with a smile and a small bow.
“Would you care for a turnabout the lake?” he offered, holding his arm out for you.
“Oh,” you said with a slight tone of surprise, looking back at the Bridgerton family. Before you could find the words to accept or deny, Violet spoke up for you.
“She would love one,” Violet beamed with a nod, pulling you forward to take his arm.
You chuckled in defeat as you wrapped you arm around his, hand resting on the crook of his elbow.
The two of you had barely gotten ten feet from the rest of the family before he bagan to bombard you with questions. You didn’t mind, of course. Most most began conversations this way, especially when “interviewing” their potential matches.
“So I really must ask,” he began. “How is it that you’re not married yet?”
You chuckled at his question, one of the ones you expected to hear first. “Well, my mother had me out of wedlock. If it wasn’t for or connection to the Bridgertons then I would be labeled a bastard child and thrown out of society entirely. Instead, my mother trained me from a young age so I could have the perfect match. She was determined. Too determined. Her determination ended up turning away a lot of possible suitors.”
As you spoke, you noticed Elijah was genuinely interested in what you had to say. He wasn’t spaced out as you rambled on, he didn’t seem annoyed or simply waiting for you to be finished. He wanted to know about you. About your life.
“As the seasons past, and I got older, everyone began to lose interest. I’ve been officially put ‘on the shelf’ as they would call it, at the ripe age of three and twenty.”
“Yet you still attend events with the rest of the ton?” he questioned.
“Living with the Bridgertons comes with a surplus of invitations,” you explained with a smile. “And Eloise needs encouragement through her first season.”
Elijah let out a laugh at that. “I pity any man who tries to tame her.”
“Not possible,” you rebutted with a laugh of your own. “Eloise is one horse that cannot be tamed.”
As you continued to walk, you noticed many eyes turned to stare at the two of you.
“And what of you?” you asked him. It was his turn to answer your questions.
“What of me?”
“Surely you have your number of available matches. Why have you gone so long without securing one?”
Elijah chucked while glancing to the floor, watching your feet walk in sync. “In truth I’ve never had the desire to settle down with anyone,” he explained. “It didn’t seem like the type of life I was meant to live.”
“And now?” you asked. Both of your steps had halted as you turned to face one another, his eyes searching yours as if trying to find the words to answer you.
“Now…” he began, not truly knowing what his answer was. “Now, I’m not sure what the future holds for me.”
The two of you stayed in silence you a couple moments longer, stuck searching the others eyes for answers to questions you didn’t know. It wasn’t until you remembered where you were that you tore your eyes from his, clearing your throat.
“We should make our way back,” you said simply. “They’ll be serving tea under the gazebo soon. Would you and your sister care to join us?”
It was Elijah’s turn tp clear his own throat, facing back towards the path in front of you as he continued to walk.
“Indeed,” he nodded. “That would be quite agreeable.”
After a few moments of silence, you spoke up again. “You must join us in Aubrey Hall next week.”
“Yes, Lord Bridgerton mentioned retiring to the country for a ball his mother is hosting.”
“He’s invited the Sharma family to join us before the rest of the invited guests arrive, I insist your family do the same.”
“Are you certain?” he asked with raised eyebrows. “We would not wish to be a burden.”
“It’s no trouble at all,” you assured him. “There is plenty of space and I could use the company while Anthony is busy in his dance of courtship. I shall discuss it with the family upon our return.”
As the two of you walked back towards the Bridgertons, you felt eyes on you left and right. Both lords and ladys staring at the pair of you with two feelings on their mind. Confusing and envy.
---
As the Mikaelsons dismounted from their carriage at Aubrey Hall, the entirety of the Bridgerton family was waiting to greet them.
“Lord Mikaelson,” Violet smiled, greeting him with open arms.
“Elijah, please,” he corrected, bowing his head slightly towards her. “You’ve invited us to be guests in your home, its only fair that you might call us by our given names. You know my sister, Rebekah,” he continued, motioning towards his siblings. “And might I introduce my brother, Niklaus and Kol.”
“A pleasure, Lady Bridgerton,” Kol greeted with a bow of his own, followed by Niklaus.
“You have a lovely home,” he spoke up with a warm smile.
“While you’re here you may think of it as your own,” Violet began before motioning towards the front doors. “Please, we were just about to sit down for tea. The Sharmas should be arriving any moment.”
As the group walked into the house, Elijah’s face lit up with a smile seeing you sitting in the parlor, waiting for everyone else.
“My lord,” you smiled, standing up to offer a quick curtsy. “I’m pleased you could make it.”
Elijah grabbed your hand before your eyes raised to meet his, bringing it once more up to lightly caress it with his lips. Your breath hitches in your throat as this time, you weren’t wearing your gloves.
“I wouldn’t miss it,” his said, looking back at you with a smile, you hand staying in his while he looks up at you.
His eyes held yours for another moment before you heard a throat clear behind you. Elijah turned to see Kol with a sly smirk on his face.
“Ah, yes, miss Ledger allow me to introduce my brothers, Kol and Niklaus.”
Both men in question smiled warmly as they each gave the the girl a quick bow.
“Brother,” Elijah continued. “I’d like you both to meet miss Y/n Ledger. Cousin to the Bridgertons.”
“Pleased to make your acquaintance,” you said with a smile of your own, giving a small curtsy.
“Miss Ledger,” Niklaus starting, stepping forward to be next to Elijah. “I hear you’re quite the artist. I myself dabble in painting every now and again, I’d love to see your work.”
Elijah looked towards his brother uneasily. Anyone who overheard him may have taken his comment as a kind remark, but Elijah didn’t miss the calculating grin on his face. He had an agenda.
“An artist?” Elijah repeated with a slight tone of surprise. He wasn’t sure how his brother came to know this.
“Yes, brother. I’ve done my research,” Klaus answered back simply.
“Oh,” you began, a bit take off guard by his knowledge of you. “Well I’ve tried my hand at painting every now and again, but Benedict is the true artist of the family. It’s him you’d be wanting to speak with about it.”
“Miss Ledger I don’t recall ever seeing you on the dance floor,” Kol spoke up next. “You must allow me to lead you sometime. I am, after all, the best dancer in the family.”
“Perhaps the best male dancer,” Rebekah spoke up, seemingly appearing beside him. “Both of you, stop overwhelming the poor girl.”
“Oh, I really don’t mind, Lady Mikaelson.”
“Rebekah, please,” she almost scoffed. “Titles make me feel much too old.”
“I couldn’t possibly-”
“I insist,” she interrupted. “In any case, we are all most comfortable being called by our given names. When one hears the name ‘Mikaelson’ being thrown from across the ballroom we never know for who it is intended for.”
“Very well, Rebekah. Then you all must call me Y/n. Especially here in the country, away from the rules of London society.”
“Lord Mikaelson,” Violet could be heard from behind, approaching the small group in the parlor.
“Again, Elijah really is fine,” he corrected again with a chuckle.
“Elijah,” she repeated, a warm smile on her face. “You really must allow Y/n to take you on a tour of the grounds. I hear you’re quite the reader and my late husband, Edmund, had quite the collection in his library.”
“But aunt Violet,” you started before Elijah could give an answer. “I told the kitchen staff that I would assist in serving the tea.”
Violet waved you off. “I shall send down Eloise to help them. You go on and show Elijah your uncle’s library upstairs.”
“I would love to see it,” Elijah added, urging you with his smile.
“Very well,” you nodded. Elijah help out his arm, motioning for you to go first, following close behind as you led him up to the Bridgerton’s library.
“Might they be needing a chaperone, Lady Bridgerton?” Rebekah asked her with a sly grin, catching onto Violet’s schemes.
“I’m not sure as to who you are referring,” she replied with an innocent shrug, turning back to return to the rest of her family.

Pairing: Ominis Gaunt x fem!reader
Summary: Based on the song Wallpaper by Megan Cormwell. You and Sebastian had always been close until a new student transferred to Hogwarts. When the Yule ball arrives at Hogwarts, you seem to have no one to attend with. However, Ominis Gaunt, seeing how Sebastian has affected you, swopped in to save the day.
Warnings: None I think? Sebastian and MC being cold-hearted and straight-up rude. Fluffy/protective Ominis ❤

The Yule ball had finally come to Hogwarts with Christmas time fast approaching. Being from a pure-blooded family, you were not unfamiliar with balls. Even in the wizarding world, the social season was still in full swing when the term ended each year, leaving your parents plenty of time to throw you into ball gowns and parade you around like cattle for sale. So while the Yule ball would not be your first, it was the first you had been looking forward to. At least, that’s how you felt at the beginning of the year. When the new year started, it was no question that you and Sebastian would attend the ball together. You had not been courting in any sense of the word, but you had always been there for each other when it mattered. You had always been there to support him, and he you. But then, the new student transferred to Hogwarts.
Initially, you wouldn’t have batted an eye at Sebatian’s interest in the new student. In fact, you had encouraged him. But then he began to change. It started with missed study dates in the library. No big deal, Sebastian hated to study anyways. Then, it was missed meals. Maybe he slept in, maybe he forgot to do the assignment from the night before and needs time to make it up. No big deal. And then, you’d see them together. When Sebastian was supposed to be with you, he was with them. Every once in a while turned into every day of the week. It was like you didn’t even exist anymore.
Your breaking point was when he ran into you one night in your common room. After being ghosted so many times in the library, you moved your personal study session to the comfort of the Slytherin common room by the fireplace. It felt less lonely there. One day, Sebastian rushed in beside where you were sat. His tie was loosened and he was pacing back and forth, muttering incoherently to himself.
“Has something happened?” you had asked him after watching for a few moments. Something clearly had him bothered.
“Y/n!” he exclaimed in a tone of surprise. “What are you doing here?”
“Studying,” you stated quite bluntly, motioning to your stack of books. “As I have every day for the last few weeks.”
After a few more paces back and forth and a deep sigh, Sebastian spoke again. “Can I vent to you for a moment?” he asked.
“You know you’re always welcome to.”
“Thank you,” he said, taking a deep breath as if to gather up all of his thoughts into something coherent. “I’ve just found out that MC has been fraternizing with goblins,” he spat with disgust. Your concern dropped slightly at the mention of their name.
“Really?” you had replied half-heartedly. It wouldn’t have mattered anyways as he didn’t seem to even hear you.
“Goblins! I mean can you believe it? Out of all the people in the world, they just had to ask a goblin for help. After everything? With Anne? At Gringgots?”
“Gringgots?” you interrupted. “What happened at Gringots? Did one of the workers do something?”
Sebastian, realizing his mistake, quickly put his hand over his mouth. “Forget I said anything,” he said quickly, beginning to leave the room.
“Sebastian!” you called after him. “Wait! Please!” He faltered for just a moment, his back still facing you as you spoke. “We used to tell each other everything. What’s changed? Have I done something?”
He sighed but still made no move to face you. “Just… please don’t tell MC I said anything to you, okay?”
You stood in silence for a moment, questioning in your head if this was truly happening. “O- Of course,” you managed.
“Thank you,” he said once more before going up the stairs to his dorm, leaving you alone by the fireplace.
Not only had he come to you to vent about someone else after not speaking to you in weeks, but he didn’t even seem to notice or care about your presence until you spoke up. At that moment, the common room had never felt so lonely.
---
It was finally time for the Yule ball and you had been dreading every second. Up until this point, you had not even thought about what was to happen now that you and Sebastian haven’t been speaking. You didn’t make the effort to secure another escort as it never crossed your mind. And no one cared to ask you since they too are used to assuming you and him did everything together. For a while, you had seriously considered not going to the ball at all. Why condemn yourself to seeing everyone else so happy? However, in the end, you decided that wallowing in your own self-pity wouldn’t do you any good either. Besides, as much as you complained about balls to your mother, you rather liked playing dress up for the night and getting to feel like a princess. Perhaps it would make you feel better in the end.
When leaving your dorm, you felt absolutely beautiful. It had been months since you wore anything this exquisite. With your hair done and a light tint added to your lips and cheeks, you did truly feel like royalty. All these feelings left you the moment you descended the stairs to the great hall.
The room was crowded, everyone who didn’t go home for winter break had been there, but your eyes were scanning the room for only one other. When you found him, your heart began to soar. He was looking at you with more love and adoration than you had ever seen before. You thought maybe this could be a turning point for you both. That was until his gaze moved, following another form coming down the stairs beside you. He was never looking at you, he was looking at them. You might as well not have existed at that moment, as his gaze went right through you like you were a sheet of glass. If not for your pride, you would have turned back to your dormitory at that same moment. But people were watching, and you wouldn’t let him get the best of you. Not this time.
When the dancing started, you couldn’t help but watch the two of them together on the floor. They moved in perfect harmony like they were made for each other. And you stood to the side, seemingly invisible to them. You felt as if you were blended in with the wallpaper. This was a new feeling for you. At your parents’ balls, you were the diamond of the party. Everyone wanted a dance with you. You’d never been the wallflower before. But here, you were untouchable. Hardly anyone would even spare you a glance.
Suddenly, you heard someone clear their throat beside you. “You look far too beautiful tonight to not be on the dance floor,” he said.
You turned and let out a small chuckle when you saw the voice belonged to Omins Gaunt. “And how would you know how I look tonight?” you asked him with a smirk. “It’s not as if you could see me and chose for yourself.” “No but I was standing next to Garrenth Weasly when you walked in,” he explained simply. Now it was he who sported a smirk on his face. “When he told Leander to look your way as well I could practically hear the breath leave their lungs.” At this, you weren’t sure what to say. As if he knew the effect his words had on you, Ominis simply held out his arm. “Now how about that dance?”
He led you to the center of the floor with all the confidence that a blind man could have in a room full of people. When the music began, he took his position across from you.
“Do you know this dance?” you asked him. He chuckled, though it sounded more like a scoff.
“You know, you’re not the only one of high social standing Ms. L/n,” he said teasingly.
You laughed. “Well, I wasn’t sure if your parents had still forced you to learn all of these ridiculous dances. Being blind and all.”
As the music started, you both began to move in sync with it, along with your other classmates in attendance.
“I have to admit,” he started, “I prefer dancing to most other day-to-day activities.”
“Is that so?”
Ominis nodded as he took your hand, twirling you as the music commanded before pulling you back to his chest, your other hand on his shoulder and his on your waist.
“Dancing is the one thing I don’t require guidance for, once I learned the steps. I know where I need to be at every moment in the music, and where everyone else will be at most any given moment.”
“That… actually makes sense,” you said with a small nod. “Why haven’t I seen you at any of our balls throughout the summer?”
“My parents didn’t see a point in bringing me,” he shrugged. “They figured you’d be courted by Sebastian as soon as we came of age.”
At the mention of Sebastian, you turned to see him dancing with MC. They looked so happy together.
“Do you think he’ll start to court them when the term ends?” you sighed. You couldn’t be upset.
No one stole him from you. He wasn’t yours to steal.
“Hey,” Ominis said, pulling you from your thoughts. He hooked his finger under your chin and turned your head to look at him. “Don’t think about them anymore. Not tonight. Just keep your eyes on me.”
You took a deep breath and nodded your head, continuing to move with Ominis. As the music crescendoed, everyone in the room lifted their partners into the air, the feeling of the wind brushing the peak of your cheeks was almost euphoric. For the first time in weeks, Sebastian was not the first thought on your mind. It wasn’t until this moment that you realized he’s been clouding your thoughts for far too long. The hope that maybe something romantic would blossom between you two kept you from seeing possibility in anybody else. But the truth was, Ominis had always been here on the sidelines. Waiting for when you needed someone to fall back on. The way you were feeling right now was how he felt every day you favored Sebastian’s attention.
When he pulled you back to his chest, you rested your head on Ominis’s shoulder and wrapped both arms around his neck, causing the boy to jum[ slightly.
“Thank you,” you said softly.
“For what?”
“For always being here for me. Even when I don’t notice right away. You’ve always been there for me.”
Ominis smiled into your hair, brushing it back slightly as he continued to sway you back and forth as you simply enjoyed one another’s embrace. As the current song ended, he pulled back from you so you could look him in the eye. “I will always be here for you,” he said, taking your hands again. The next song began to start up again and Ominis smirked, taking position for the next dance. “Now, let’s give these blokes something to stare at, shall we?”
You began to laugh as Ominis led you to the center of the floor, exaggerating each dip and stride to catch the attention of everyone in the room. You followed suit. As you both danced and twirled around the other, the rest of the room couldn’t help but stare and gawk at how well you complimented each other. Like you were made perfectly for the other. While Sebastian always seemed to outshine you, Ominis knew just how to make you shine brighter. Bright enough to catch the man in question’s attention itself. But you didn’t care. The way Ominis danced with you made any thought of Sebastian go from the back of your mind to not existent at all. A feeling that you never wanted to let go of.

Mermaids.
That was the quest the dread pirate Munson decided to take his crew on today. Were the crew scared? Yes. But they knew better than to go against Eddie when he put his mind to it. No matter how badly they wanted to scream “HAVE YOU COMPLETELY LOST IT?! WE’LL BE KILLED!”
But Eddie was their captain. What he says goes. Even if it may be a death sentence.
“All hands! Batten down the hatches!” Eddie was heard calling out from his spot behind the wheel. “Watch out for those waves!”
“It’s the mermaids,” his first mate and right hand man, Steve, had concluded. “They’re protecting the cove.”
“Well, they’ve yet to encounter us. Gonna take more that a few splashes of water to turn us around. Right men?!”
Small shouts of agreement came from the rest of the crew, hurriedly securing everything on the deck so it wasn’t lost to the waves.
“Drop a rowboat!” Eddie next commanded. “We must row the rest of the way in.”
The men followed in suit, running towards the ropes that help up their rowboats.
“Now,” Eddie continued. “Which of you is joining me in the cove?”
Everyone looked around at one another, none volunteering. Eddie looked at each of the men om board, each immediately looking away so as to not make any sort of eye contact.
“I’ll join you,” Steve had sighed after more moments of silence.
“No. No you stay behind to guard the ship. If we go down you’re next in command.” Eddie continued looked around before his eyes landed on one person in particular. “Dustin,” he grinned, an audible whine left the boy’s lips as he noticeably slumped. “And Robin.”
“Why me?” she began to complain.
“I dunno, you’re a girl aren’t ya?”
“So?”
“Maybe the creatures will feel more comfortable around you.”
“I see something!” their lookout, Lucas, had called from the bow of the ship. “In the water, straight ahead!”
Everyone ran to where the boy was standing to look for what he was referring to. Sure enough, there was a head bobbing on top of the waves, long hair billowing out behind it. Half the men were in awe. The other half, scared to death. Eddie didn’t take the bait. He watched the creature with careful eyes as he lowered their row boat slowly down into the water, unbeknownst to her. He knew that if she saw them they’d be dead in an instant. The larger ship would not be as easy a target.
While the rest of the men were entranced by the mermaid in the water, more began to pop up. One by one, the ship was surrounded.
“Plug your ears, men!” Steve shouted at the helm. “Don’t let their songs reach them!”
Like clockwork, as soon as the men on board plugged their ears, they started to sing. Will nearly had to catch Mike by the collar of his shirt cause he was a second too late and nearly jumped clear over board and into the sea.
“Shouldn’t we help them?” Dustin whispered from his spot on the rowboat. “What if they attack?”
“Steve’s got it,” Eddie assured. “Our goal is their cove. They always leave the weaker ones behind while attacking.”
“So the rest of the crew is to act as bait then?” Robin realized.
“Distraction,” he corrected. “As long as they stay prepared, the beasts won’t be able to sink them.”
“And if we lose some to their siren song?”
Right as the question left Robin’s lips, the trio heard a war cry screamed from the water near the boat. As they glanced back in fear, they saw the hoard of mermaids leaping to action, hurling themselves towards the ship in formation.
“Go,” Dustin told Eddie with his eyes wide. “Go! Row! Row! Row!”
Eddie didn’t need and more urging to increase the speed at which he was rowing their boat towards the cove.
“Quiet,” Eddie ordered as they pulled the boat ashore. “We don’t know how many they left behind. They should be in the heart of the cove.”
Eddie removed his heavy coat and took his guns from their holsters, trying to limit the amount of noise he generated. Robin and Dustin followed suit, all keeping their swords in their spot on their hip just in case.
The trio was in awe at the sights that waited for them past the beach. There were trees hanging towards the ground, leaves swaying in the wind. Waterfalls and babbling brooks could be heard running over the top of rocks in every direction. The grass seemed greener than everywhere else, the water more blue and yet also clearer. They wouldn’t have been surprised if a unicorn had emerged from the bushes at any moment. It was magical.
While the three were marveling at the sights around them. Eddie heard it. Humming. Coming from a nearby pool in the center of the trees. He motioned to the others and put his finger to hips lips, signaling them to be quiet as he carefully drew out his sword, the others following. As they drew closer, Eddie couldn’t help but feel he knew the tune from somewhere.
His suspicions were confirmed, however, when you began singing.
“I’ll swim and sail on savage seas…” she sung, mostly under your breath and just to yourself. “With n’er a fear of drowning.”
Eddie’s breath caught in his throat. It was the song his mother would sing to him as a child. Well before she passed. One of his few remaining memories of her.
“And gladly ride the waves of life…” you continued, a bit louder but still slow and drawn out. “If you will marry me…”
As you said the last line, Dustin seemed to realized you were a mermaid singing, and the fear of being bewitched made him shoot his hands up to cup his ears, dropping the sword he was holding in turn.
“No!” Eddie whispered in protest, reaching for the droppen weapon, but was just a second too late as it clattered to the ground.
You gasped at the sound, turning towards the group and quickly retreating away after seeing them, disappearing into the shadows.
Eddie’s eyes went wide. He had put too much planning into this voyage to lose it all now. He had to do something and quickly.
“No scorching sun, nor freezing cold,” he sang back. His voice far more raspy and no where near as smooth. “Would stop me on my journey.”
Eddie motioned for Robin and Dustin to stay behind as he took a few cautious steps towards you, continuing to sing. “If you would promise me your heart… And love…”
He stood with his hand outstreatch towards you, urging you to come forward. Everyone stood in silence for a long moment. Waiting to see how you would respond. It was evident that not even you knew the answer. Tensions were high. No one knew what would happen next.
Eddie had nearly lost hope after a few more moments of silence. That was until you took another breath. “And love me for eternity…” you sang. Eddie let out a sigh of relief as you moved from the shadows, slowly and cautiously approaching the man.
“My dearest one, my darling dear. Your mighty words astound me.”
As you got closer to Eddie, he approached the edge of the water, attempting to meet you in the middle. Dustin was watching with fear the whole time, afraid you would snap at any moment. No matter how you seemed on the outside, you was still a mermaid. The same breed of mermaids that were attacking their friends not a thousand feet down the coast.
Your lips turned to a shy smile as you continued singing towards Eddie. “But I’ve no need for mightly deeds when I feel your arms around me.”
Eddie knelt down onto he kness, trying to encourage you to be comfortable enough to approach him more.
“My mother sang that song to me,” he said softly, smiling to himself as the memories came flooding back.
By now, you were intrigued. You wanted to know more about the pirate in front of you. He sat in silence after mentioning his mother. You watched as his smile went from a happy smile reminiscing on the past to a sad, sorrowful one. You knew nothing about him, yet wanted to comfort him. You reached out your hand for him to take. Just a small gesture of comfort, it was all you could think to do. His sad smile became a little happier as he connected your hands. He was taught that mermaids were heartless beasts. That they could not feel and would stab you in the back any chance they got.
That must have been the fear Robin felt as she saw her captain in such a vulnerable spot with you, as she dashed forward to protect him. Becoming afraid again, you turned around, trying to swim off as fast as you could. Before you got the chance to get far enough, Robin acted quickly, driving her sword down into the sand, catching the edge of your tail in the process.
“You got her!” Dustin celebrated as your could no longer swim away. Eddie’s eyes went wide as he watched the blood trailing from your fin and becomming diluted in the water. You turned around to face Robin and all Eddie could see on your face… was fear. Sure it was warranted granted you were completely at the mercy of pirates… but he was taught that mermaid felt no emotion. And as far as he knew, fear was an emotion.
“Let’s get it back to the crew,” Robin said, wasting no time in grabbing your arms to hoist you out of the water. You tried to fight her grasp. Your writhed and screamed to no avail. Robin felt as though she was trying to tame a wild cat with the way you scratched at her hands. “Dustin, come help me!”
Dustin rushed to her aid to help and drag you from the pool of water. Despite your attempts to escape, they succeeded.
Almost immediately after you left the water, your tail shrunk and separated into to legs. You stopped your squirming to escape and instead moved you arms to cover yourself, the lack of clothes making you feel quite vulnerable. It only took a moment of Robin and Dustin continuing to drag you across the ground that Eddie stepped in.
“Enough!” he nearly screamed at the two.
“Captain?” Dustin asked, confused. They were, after all, just doing as he asked.
Saying nothing, Eddie took off his coat and threw it over your shoulders, quickly fastening it in the front in order to give you some sense of dignity. Your eyes widened in shock at his kindness towards you. Considering his companions never called you more than an “it”.
“Can’t you see she’s scared?” Eddie hissed at the two.
“She?” Robin repeated.
“She’s scared?” Dustin gawked. “She’s the one who tried mauling us!”
Eddie scoffed at them as he helped you to your feet. As he watched your form tremble beneath him, he was at a loss as to what to do. On the one hand, this was the purpose of the whole mission. To obtain a mermaid. He had done just that. But on the other hand, you looked to be just an innocent girl like this. Not a malicious bone in your body.
With a small, sympathetic smile, Eddie continued to sing to you under his breath. “Through all life’s sorrows and delights,” he sang softly. “I’ll keep your laugh inside me.” And with that, he grabbed your shoulders and carefully pushed you back into the water, allowing you time to escape as he blocked Robin and Dustin from going after you.
“What are you doing?!” Dustin screetched.
“It’ll get away!”
“I changed my mind,” Eddie responded simply.
You watched from the shadows as the three argued. Eddie firmly standing his ground. When the other two backed off, you resurfaced.
“Swim and sail the savage seas,” you smiled towards Eddie. When he turned to face you, you propelled out of the water, wrapping an arm around his neck to pull him to your level. Robin and Dustin both called out in fear, however, when his head reached the water you stopped. You landed a soft, gentle kiss on the pirates lips as a symbol of gratitude and watched as he pulled away with a drunken smile on his lips.
“With n’er a fear of drowning.”
And with that, you disappeared back under the waves.

Anyone at Hogwarts could tell that lately… you’ve been drowning. With all the stress of being the “hero of hogwarts,” dealing with Harlow, the poachers, and on top of that studying for your OWLS, you were about ready to snap.  Even though you weren’t sure why, Sebastian was there for you through it all.
You weren’t sure if he knew it, but through everything you’ve been through, Sebastian was your rock. He and he alone was the only thing keeping you from going totally insane. He was your escape from it all. He never treated you different because of your power, never used you for your popularity. And despite what you thought, he could see you were drowning.
Your OWLS seemed frightenly close and you felt you weren’t at all prepared. At this point, you had begun to lash out. Anyone who looked at you the wrong way would get an earful. You found yourself purposely walking through the forbidden forest just looking for a fight to blow off some steam on Ranrok’s lingering loyalists. By now you were one broken nail away from having a full blown breakdown.
Later that day, however, you ended up a crying mess in Sebastian’s arms after a mere question of “Are you okay?”
You didn’t expect that was what would push you over the edge, but it was. Sebastian knew you had been having a hard time, but he never expected his as he hugged you tightly, eyes wide with both shock and confusion.
“Shh, shh, it’s alright,” he hushed, trying to soothe you. It only took a few seconds for you to try and pull your self together. Sniffing away your tears and wiping your eyes, you tried to stop the overflowing emotions.
“I’m sorry,” you said quickly. “I didn’t mean to-”
“Stop,” Seb had interrupted, pulling you back to his chest. “Don’t apologize, don’t bottle anything up anymore. Just put your arms back around me. Let it all out.”
You didn’t know what to say. On the one hand you didn’t want to show any more vulernerablitity than you had to, but on the other Sebastian was your best friend. You needed someone to confide in.
“I can’t do this anymore,” you said after a few moments.
“What?” he asked.
“Everything. Being the ‘hero of Hogwarts’, a target for the poachers, Harlow’s gang, and the loyalists. I can’t be that person anymore. I need to just be a student.”
“Then that’s all you have to be,” he said, running his hand down your hair to comfort you. “Tell me what you want to be, and that’s what you are. Anything you want me to, I’ll do for you.”
Your heart stilled at his words. You had wondered if he really meant it. If the boy in front of you would really do anything for you.
“I- anything?” you wanted to confirm, pulling away from him slightly.
Sebastian chuckled. “Within reason of course.”
“I want to be yours,” you said simply. This time, it was Sebastian’s heart that stopped.
“I- w- what?” he stuttered. He didn’t ever think that he’d hear you say those words. That you’d ever want to be anything more than friends.
“You said anything I want,” you repeated. “I want you to kiss me.”
Sebastian was torn. On the one hand, that was all he’d ever wanted. Not to mention you were asking him to do so. But on the other hand, this was not at all the right time. You were a wreck, he didn’t want to feel as if he was taking advantage of the situation. However, as he saw your face of disappointment to his hesitation, the choice was no longer his.
He was quickk to tilt your chin to his own, connecting your lips quickly as to never see that look on your face again. Kissing Sebastian was like nothing you have ever felt. You felt as though there were fireworks exploding all around you and your heart would beat straight out of your chest. You couldn’t help the smile on your face as he pulled away. A comfortable silence fell between you in the moments following. You didn’t feel you had to say anything. It was all said in your kiss.
“Do you want to run away with me?” he said after a moment.
You laughed. “What? Run away? Sebastian we can’t-”
“Not forever,” he clarified. “Just for tonight. No more studying, no more worries. Just us for one night.”
“Sebastian I can’t afford a day away from my studies.”
“Oh please, you’ve studied plenty. I daresay you’re ahead of both Ominis and me combined.” You rolled your eyes at him, but before you could say no again, he continued. “I can see the no building up on your lips,” he said, leaning in to kiss you again before you could confirm of deny anything. While you were distracted by his kiss, Sebastian reached behind you and pulled out your field guilde.
“Sebastian!” you protested, reading for the book but being unsuccessful as he held it out of your reach.
“I will not take no for an answer,” he said, walking away slowly. “I’ll send you an owl with the details. You will get this back after tonight.”
And with that, he turned away and left, leaving you speechless behind him.
---
That night, you made your way towards the castle, following the enchanted map that Sebastian had sent you via his owl. Even you had to admit, it was a nice touch. Eventually, you found yourself at the entrance of the forbidden forest. Upon arriving, the map changed to read one word… “Lumos”.
When the word appeared you scoffed, a small smile on your lips as you casted Lumos and saw the candles appear as predicted. The candles took the same path as they did when you found them the first time with Sebastian’s help, leading all the way to a small table in the forest.
“Not very original, is it?” you laughed once you saw Sebastian standing by the table, a grin on his face.
“Well I was a little short on time,” he admitted with a chuckle. “But I figured why leave a perfectly good picnic spot to waste?” With that, he motioned for you to sit down, pushing in your chair behind you before taking the other seat for himself.
“Did you get the house elves to give you all this food?” you wondered as you looked at the spread laid out before you.
“No…” he said slowly, clearly lying. You raised your eyebrows towards him. “Okay maybe one or two helped out but I picked the food.”
You laughed and shook your head at the Slytherin in front of you as you took a sip of your pumpkin juice. You had to admit, even with his antics, this was a much-needed break for you. Sebastian knew this. He knew that no matter how hard you tried to hide it, you needed this. Almost as much as he needed you. And he was willing to give you anything you wanted to keep this smile on your face.

You have been friends with Ominis for five years. All the way from your first day at Hogwarts together. Five years since you had both been sorted into Slytherin together. Five years you have been pining after him. Five. Long. Excruciating years. The man had been blind in more ways than one. If he had just opened his eyes (not literally of course) than he would be able to see how much you longed for him to be more than just your friend.
This information was beyond obvious to Sebastian, as he was the one forced to watch the interactions between you both. He was the only one who knew that your feelings were mutual. He was the only one who heard Ominis’s small sigh when you left them. He’e the only one who saw his breath quicken when you walked into a room. But you were blind to these things; just as Ominis was blind to you.
One day, Sebastian had had enough. He had decided that it was about time that he acted as a sort of wingman and help his best friends get together. How hard could it be? After all, they both had already had strong feelings for one another. All they needed was a little push.
“I know you have feelings for Y/n,” Sebastian said one day, confronting Ominis in the common room.
“What?” Ominis spat in response. “Feelings? For her? What ever gave you that idea?”
“You may not be able to see the way you long for her but I do. Now, I came up with some ideas for you to tell her that-”
“I don’t need any ideas, Sebastian. There’s no feelings for me to admit.”
“Come on Ominis, I-”
“That’s enough, Sebastian!”
“What’s going on?” you asked them as you approached the pair, obvious tension in the air.
“Nothing, I was just heading down for class,” Ominis said quickly, quickly gathering his things as he turned away.
“Wait!” you called behind him. “I thought we were all supposed to-”
“Sorry, I forgot that I told professor Sharpe that I would come to class early to discuss.. Something. I’ll catch up with you guys later.”
You watched behind as Ominis left, his head hung low as his wand led him away.
“What crawled in his pumpkin juice this morning?” you chuckled, sitting down next to Sebastian. He chuckled back, taking a sip from the cup of tea he had been drinking as you looked over your shoulder at Ominis walking away, a small look of rejected crossing your face as Sebastian wasn’t looking.
---
“Hey..” you said cautiously, approaching Ominis in the library. The two of you haven’t spoken since that morning and you weren’t sure where you stood. As far as you knew nothing happened to make Ominis upset with you, but you couldn’t shake the feeling that there was some new sort of tension there.
“Y/n,” he greeted simply, barely looking up from his work.
“I was hoping we could get some work done together today?” you offered. “We have that paper for magic theory due soon and-”
“I’ve already made plans.”
You froze mid-sentence. Ominis had never been this blunt with you before. Never cut you off like that. He’s always been thoughtful with his speech, thinking over each word before uttering them to you and politely at that. It was as if this was an imposter who had taken over his body. This was not the man you’ve been infatuated with for the last five years.
“Oh?” you inquired. “What plans?”
“The new fifth year asked me to show them around,” he shrugged. “I accepted.”
You had to fight to keep your jaw from dropping to the floor. He was denying spending time with you… to show around the new student… that he had been talking bad about since the moment he laid eyes on them?
“The new student?” you asked him, making sure you heard him correctly.
“Yes,” he confirmed. “And they should be here any moment so…”
Your eyes shifted from ones of sadness… to anger. You weren’t sad of worried about what the status of your friendship was anymore, you were angry that Ominis was treating you this way. Angry that he was willing to toss your years of friendship aside for some person he just met, not to mention didn’t even like! But if he wanted to be that way, fine. He could lie in the bed he made himself.
You didn’t give him another word, another glance, as you turned around and walked out of the room.
Ominis groaned as his head fell to the table. He hated himself for doing this. He didn’t want to distance himself from you. Every instinct in his body was telling him to run to you and apologize, agreeing to spend the day together and throw away any other plans he might have had. But his mind wouldn’t let him.
If Sebastion of all people could tell how attached Ominis was to you, then it was only a matter of time before everyone found out. Before you found out.
Besides, it wasn’t as if he was going to stay distanced from you forever. The two of you could still be friends, hangout. Just maybe twice a week rather than every single day. Or maybe two hours at a time rather than twelve. Just until this whole accusation from Sebastian went away. Maybe until heis infatuation cooled down just a little…
---
Ominis smiled towards his friends as he approacked their usual spot at the Slytherin table for breakfast.
“Y/n, Sebastian,” he greeted to you both, taking his seat.
“Ominis,” Sebastian greeted back with a nod. You didn’t say anything.
He sat in silence, body turned slightly towards where you were sitting, waiting for you to speak up. When you didn’t he went to address you again. “So Y/n…” he started.  “How did you sleep last-”
“I think I left something in my dorm,” you quickly interrupted, pushing yourself up from your seat. “I’ll see you both in class.”
“Did something happen?” Ominis asked once you were well out of the room. Sebastian rolled his eyes. For a blind man, he could be quite oblivious.
“She’s quite cross with you,” Sebastian told him.
“With me?! Why?”
“Cause you’ve all but iced her out.”
“No I haven’t!”
“Really?” he scoffed. “When’s the last time you’ve spoken to her?”
“I speak to her every day.”
“A real conversation, Ominis.”
Ominis sat in thought for a few moments. Sebastian was right. In his want to keep everyone from finding out his feelings for you, Ominis forgot to keep your feelings in mind.
“I’ll be right back,” he said quickly, jumping up from his seat and jogging in the direction you left in. His wand almost couldn’t keep up directing him where to go. “Y/n!” he called after you.
You didn’t respond. When you turned and saw him behind you, you sped up.
“I can hear you speed walking away. I’m blind, not deaf.”
“Leave me be, Ominis,” you sighed.
“Not until you talk to me,” he combatted, reaching for your arm to stop you. “Y/n-”
“What?!” you snapped, quickly turning to face him as you ripped your arm from his grasp. “Now you want to talk? What did you finally get bored with the new fifth year?”
“No, I just-”
“Just what, Ominis? What could you possibly want from me now?”
“I want my friend back!”
You laughed. Well, it would be more accurate to call it a scoff, really. “Your friend?” you repeated. “You’ve made it perfectly clear that you do not want to be friends anymore.”
When Ominis didn’t respond, you turned back around and started walking away again. You didn’t get more than twenty feet before he yelled out to you.
“You’re right!” he yelled simply.
You sighed when he didn’t continue, curiosity getting the better of you as you turned back around. “Right about what, Ominis?”
“I don’t want to be your friend any longer.”
Your jaw dropped in disbelief. You knew you had said it, but you never imagined it could be true.
“Wow,” you marveled sarcastically. “Thank you so much for confirming that for me.”
Before you could walk away again, he continued. “I don’t just want to be your friend any longer, we’ve been ‘just friends’ for too long.”
“And what is that supposed to mean?”
Ominis took steps towards you, slowly, ensuring you didn’t back away as he continued talking. “Year after year, class after class. Being your friend has been torture,”
You could feel the tears brimming on the edge of your eyes. All your years of knowing Ominis, you never expected him to be so cruel.
“I didn’t know that-”
“Let me finish!” he yelled. “Night after night, I must force my thoughts from straying to thoughts of you. You and your stupid perfume. Your laugh. Everything just drives me crazy!”
“Ominis-”
“I cannot just be your friend anymore.”
“I-”
“It’s not enough,” he finally finished.
“...What?” was all you could bring yourself to say.
“I want so much more,” he continued. “I want to be able to call you mine. I want to be able to let everyone in the castle know that I am yours. I want to be able to scream to the skies that I’m in love with you!”
You froze. You couldn’t bring a single word to your lips until you saw the way he desperately needed a response. “You what?” you repeated.
Ominis took a step closer to you, reaching out to find your hands. “I am in love with you, Y/n. I have been since the moment met you.”
You didn’t let him say a single word more as you cupped his face in your hands and brought him to you, slamming your lips against his desperately. It wasn’t a perfect kiss. It was sloppy, and desperate, but you didn’t care. You were kissing him. Just as you had imagined since you were a mere eleven years old.
“Say it again,” you said with a smile as you pulled away from him.
“I am in love with you,” he repeated, a mile on his lips, matching yours. “I love you.”
Your smile widened as you kissed him again, softer this time and pulled away quicker. “Again,” you demanded.
“I love you,” he repeated yet again with a laugh. “I’ll say it as many times as you need me to. I love you, I love you, I’ll love you forever, to the moon and back.”
You smiled and kissed him once more, the tears that were threatening to spill over finally doing so, the anger and betrayal long replaced with an undeniable feeling of joy.
“I love you too.”

Sensing You - Part 2
Pairings: Ominis Gaunt x Reader
Warnings: Mentions of death, nightmares, not proof read (again)
Part one Masterlist
Tumblr media
It had been a few weeks since the Cruicio incident in the Scriptorium. Ominis had hardly left your side since. Sebastian and the new fifth-year have been out wrecking havoc on their own and Ominis regularly expressed his worries to you about what they were up to. If Sebastian knew one of the unforgivable curses, and the new student was so willing and eager to learn it, who knows how far they would end up going.
Ominis’s worst fears were realized when you both had found out that Sebastian was back in Feldcroft, back at the catacomb where the new fifth-year had casted imperio on him.
“Sebastian has gone too far!” Anne had announced, pacing by the entrance of the catacomb. “You saw what lies in the catacomb, I cannot stay here.”
“Come on, Anne,” you called. “We just need to be able to get in there. To talk to him.”
“If you want to fight through those hoards of Inferi to get to him be my guest, but I’m not risking my life to save his. Nobody wins that way.”
“Wait, Anne, please!” Ominis called behind her.
“Ominis… he was willing to put the whole hamlet, and himself, in danger for the chance that some old relic could help to heal me.”
“He just wants what’s best for you,” you continued. You hated seeing the twins fight. They were usually so in sync. How have they strayed so far from one another?
“He’s obsessed with the idea that I can be saved!” she combatted. “I cannot watch him spiral down this path any longer. I’m sorry. Make sure he’s alright, will you?”
“What do we do?” Ominis sighed, looking towards you for answers. Answers that you didn’t have.
“The new student will be here soon,” you assured him, rubbing circles on his back as a comfort. “We can all go in and find Seb together.”
“But Anne had a point. The Inferi…”
“Is no match for us working together,” you interrupted. You may not have been totally confident in your ability to defeat them, but that wasn’t the attitude Ominis needed at the moment.
The two of you sat in silence for a few moments, simply being comforted in the other’s presence until the fifth-year student approached you.
“There you are,” Ominis sighed.
“Where’s Sebastian?” they asked simply.
“Inside the catacomb,” you answered.
“Frankly I was surprised you weren’t with him…”
“Ominis, I-”
“Stop!” he said quickly, raising his voice ever so slightly. Not enough to be considered yelling, but enough to make you jump. “You swore you wouldn’t let Sebastian take this one step further, and yet here we are.”
“He won’t listen to reason.”
Ominis scoffed. “I should have stopped him before. Sebastian’s in real trouble now.”
“You couldn’t have know,” you tried to assure. “None of this has been on you. Sebastian brought himself here.”
“I’m going back into the catacomb to find him. Anne’s right. He and the entire hamlet are in danger.”
“The place is still filled with Inferi,” you reminded him. “If you’re going in then I’m coming with you!”
“No, you’ve gotten hurt from these orderals already. I can’t.. I wont let it happen again.”
“Ominis..”
“Inferi?” the fifth-year wondered. “What are you talking about?”
“You’ll see. We need to hurry.” Ominis then turned towards you, pulling the arm you were clinging to out of your grasp to point at you, further expressing his adamence. “You stay here.”
“But I-”
“But nothing,” he interrupted sternly. “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. We’re not risking you getting hurt again. Go and find Anne and Solomon. Make sure they don’t report back to Professor Black.”
“I want to help!”
“You are helping. You’re helping me not worry about you. If a fight breaks out and I don’t hear you I will do nothing but worry. “
“Just listen to the man, will you?” the other student groaned from beside you, taking you slightly off guard. “We need to get inside.”
Your head fell as you took a step back, allowing the two to enter the catacomb without you. Ominis let out a sigh. He didn’t want to leave like that, he knew they were out of line talking to you like that. But he had to make sure you stayed put.
Before leaving, Ominis reached out for your hand. When you gave it to him, he used it to pull you closer and leave a chaste kiss on your forehead.
“We’ll return soon,” he said in a whisper. “I’ll be fine, I promise. Go and find Solomon.”
You nodded as he backed away and watched as they both slowly entered the catacomb.
---
When you found Anne and Solomon, he was already marching towards the catacomb. He had heard what Sebastian was doing and became beyond furious. And rightfully so. You tried to slow him, to slow him so the others had time to find Sebastian, but there was no stopping his rage.
“What have you all done?” Solomon hissed when he finally found his way inside, you apologetically rushing in behind him. “Accio relic!”
“No!” Sebastian protested.
“Solomon, let them explain,” you tried to coax. Ominis’s head snapped up in your direction upon hearing your voice. He knew he told you to find Solomon but he didn’t think that would lead you directly to the heart of the danger.
Solomon pointed his wand at the relic and disintegrated it into nothing. Sebastian and the fifth-year watched and protested with wide eyes, but it was already done. As soon as the relic was gone, the remaining Inferi in the room appeared to suddenly wake up. You knew a fight was coming, that was inevitable at this point. But you didn’t know how far they would take it.
Ominis rushed over to your side when the fight broke out. The two of you were terrified as you defended yourselves from Inferi. The others in the room were not only fighting the Inferi, but also each other. Your screams and cries for them to stop seemed to do nothing. Solomon’s mind was made up. Sebastian was the enemy.
You watched in horror as the look on Sebastian’s face became unrecognizable. He was no longer simply defending himself from his uncle. You could almost hear the spell that left his lips before he muttered the words.
“Avada Kedavra!” he yelled towards his uncle.
“No!” you screamed in protest. Before you could cast anything towards Sebastian to stop him, the fifth-year stopped you.
“Accio!” they screamed, just trying to interrupt your cast.
As you began to get pulled towards them, however, they pulled you directly into the line of Sebastian’s cast. Straight into the green lightning leaving his wand.
Everyone stilled as you hit the floor. No one quite knew how to react. The silence left Ominis feeling uneasy.
‘Not again.’ He thought to himself.
“What’s happened?” he almost begged. Whatever it was, he knew it was bad. “Sebastian what have you done?!”
“I-” Sebastian stammered. “I’m sorry Ominis I-”
“It was an accident!” the fifth-year spoke up in defense.
“Ominis…” Anne’s voice appeared in the entrance to the room. She sounded serene, almost as if he felt comforted by her voice. But that wasn’t enough for him to calm down. You haven’t said anything yet. Last time this happened, you had ended up in a hospital bed for nearly two days. But Ominis wasn’t deaf. He heard the spell that left Sebastian’s lips.
“What happened, Sebastian?” he demanded again.
“Ominis…”
“Stop saying my name! Answer me! Is Y/n okay?”
“I’m right here, Ominis,” Anne told him, resting her hand on his shoulder.
“I don’t understand!” he yelled, tears brimming on the edge of his eyes. “What’s going on?”
“Wake up, Ominis.”
“What?”
“Wake up!”
----
Ominis was jolted awake to the feeling of the common room fireplace warming his face. Your hand rested on his shoulder, shaking him back and forth ever so gently.
“What happened?” he mumbled, still half asleep.
“You fell asleep,” you chuckled. “Started muttering nonsense. I assumed you were having a bad dream so I woke you.”
“.. Thank you,” he said after a moment. “I’m sorry, we were in the middle of a conversation, weren’t we? I didn’t mean to fall asleep.”
“That’s alright, you were tired, I could tell. We can head up to bed if you’d like.”
“No!” he said quickly. After what just happened in his dream, the last thing he wanted was to be separated from you. “I mean.. No. Finish what you were saying before I fell asleep.”
“You sure?” you laughed. “I may lull you to sleep again.”
“I’m sure,” he nodded with a smile. “You have my full attention.”
“Well, I was just saying that I think we need to think of a better excuse for what happened the other day. Professor Weasley is starting to get suspicious. She knews the signs of the Cruciatus curse. But I don’t want either of them getting in trouble.”
Ominis had more flashbacks to the topic of his dream. He didn’t think himself a seer, but there was always that what if. If Sebastian and the other fifth-year were left with no repercussions, who knows what they would do next?
“We should tell her,” he decided.
“What? But we decided that-”
“I don’t want anything like this to happen again, and the only way to do that is to make them aware. Make them keep an eye on both of them.”
“They could get expelled! I don’t want to-”
“Not if we explain everything.”
“Ominis…” you sighed.
“I’m not risking your safety again!” he said quickly, cutting you off.
You froze for a second. “What?” you asked after a pregnant pause. “What do you mean, Ominis?”
At first Ominis didn’t know what to say. He didn’t have an answer for you. Nor did he have an answer for where the sudden burst of confidence he suddenly got came from. He barely recognize himself as his hand moved up your arm, past your shoulder, and landing on the side of your face, cupping your cheek.
Your breath hitched in your throat at his touch. Ominis has touched you like this before, but not like this. Before it was clumsy, quick, with only the intention of winning that stupid childhood game you and the Sallow twins made. But now it was slow, purposeful, intimate.
“Ominis?” you whispered. You didn’t trust your voice to go any louder.
“Please,” he said simply, his face mere inches away from yours. “I have held myself back from you for so long. I have convinced myself that I was ‘content’ without ever kissing you. But please, allow me this one indulgence.”
You didn’t need him to say anything more. The tension could be cut with a knife and you couldn’t take it anymore. To both of your surprise, you closed the gap between the two of you first. Rushing forward and nearly smashing your lips together. While surprise, Ominis wasn’t complaining. He wasn’t sure how much longer his boost of confidence would last… but this gave him the push he needed.
Kissing you was better than he had ever dreamed. And yes, he did dream about it. Your lips were soft. They felt like a cloud. And they were sweet too, like the pumpkin juice you had both just had at dinner hours before.
Ominis wanted to savor this kiss. He wanted to memorize every inch of your lips just in case this would only happen the once.
“I’m sorry,” he said quickly once you both separated for a breath of air.
“Why are you apologizing?” You had asked him.
“I was meant to stay content. I’ve always told myself that as long as I got to be in your life... As long as we were friends that was all I needed to be. But I couldn’t go on any longer without knowing what it felt like to kiss you. I’m memorized every other part of you… I had to know this too. But now that I do, we never have to again if you don’t want to.”
You interrupted his speech by placing another kiss on his lips, shorter this time, just enough to get your point across.
“I want to,” you said simply. “I have wanted to. For years. For longer than I can even remember.”
Ominis smiled at you. All he’s ever wanted, all he’s ever dreamed was finally a reality. He couldn’t stop smiling if he wanted to. You began to laugh as he quickly placed kiss after kiss on every inch of your face, every part he could reach.
“I’ve always wanted to do that,” he smiled. You laughed again.
The two of you layed back in your previous positions on the couch, but this time Ominis pulled you close to his chest, his arms as tight around you as they could be. He finally had you all to himself, and he wasn’t going to let you go.

From the Shadows
Pairings: Draco Malfoy x fem!reader
Summary: You and Draco have been best friends with each other for most of your time at Hogwarts. As far as the rest of the school knew, however, neither of you could stand the other. It's not until you're in an accident that nearly results in your death that Draco sees a flaw in this plan.
Not proofread (as usual)
Tumblr media
If you had asked anyone else at Hogwarts, they’d tell you that Draco Malfoy couldn’t stand Y/n L/n. They’d say that no two people hated each other more. That they’re more opposite than day and night. But if you had ever seen them when no one was watching, you’d know that opposites attract.
Draco and Y/n had never had a romantic relationship before. They had been friends since they were toddlers. Being from two of the most prominent pure-blodded families in England would do that to you. While their fathers talked ministry business and their mothers gushed over their children together, the two children in question would play together all day long. In the summers they would run around in the gardens, and in the winter they would find games to play indoors.
That was until they turned eleven.
Y/n never expected that going to Hogwarts would affect their friendship. Neither did Draco. That was until the sorting ceremony. Draco knew Y/n wouldn’t get sorted into Slytherin with him. It wasn’t the house for her. She wasn’t as ambitious and cunning as he was. Not to mention that almost everyone in her family was either a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff. Personally he knew she would be the latter. His parents, well his dad really, was not okay with this sorting. When Draco sent his first letter home announcing what houses the two were in, his father demanded he cut all ties with the girl. As 11-year-old Draco was still under the impression he could win the love and respect from his father, he tried to appeal to his request. That original plan immediately went out the window when he tried to break it off with her. He barely got half the sentence out before tears began to well up on the end of her eyelid. If you asked her about it now, she would deny the fact that she’d ever cry at the thought of losing Draco.
Instead of heeding his father’s warning, Y/n and Draco devised a plan. In school while other people were watching they would be just like any other students at Hogwarts. But in private, they were just like any other pair of childhood friends. Yes, they took the fake disdain a little far sometimes, Draco especially. And yes, after a few years it started to take a toll on Y/n.
It was their fourth year at Hogwarts when Y/n made friends with the golden boy of the Hufflepuff house, Cedric Diggory. She had always seen him around before, being in the same house, but they’d never really talked until the end of her third year. After that, she couldn’t seem to get rid of him. Not that she was complaining, he was good company to keep. Draco on the other hand, hated Cedric. From the moment he became friends with Y/n Draco had a slightly higher amount of disdain reserved for the Hufflepuff prefect. It didn’t help that Cedric would stand up to him when the two pretended to bicker with each other. To be fair, however, Draco’s “pretending” did seem very real. If it hadn’t been for their nightly meetups in the astronomy tower, Y/n would think he really did hate her. But she understood. He had a lot to live up to.
Currently, Y/n was spending her afternoon in the courtyard with Cedric and his friends. He had just been named Hogwart’s champion for the Triwizard tournament along with the Potter boy. Y/n knew him, being in the same year and all, but she’d never spoken to him before really.
Cedric and her were laughing with his friends, all of whom were sporting a “Potter sticks, Cedric rules” badge on their robes.  Y/n didn’t know for sure who had passed them around, but she had a small suspicion that it was Malfoy. While she was sitting on a bench with all of Cedric’s friends, he began to laugh at something one of them said and layed down, resting his head on Y/n’s lap. This small interaction did not go unnoticed by Draco, perched from a tree across the way.
This interaction, however, was short lived as Harry Potter himself began to approach the group. While the rest of his friends continued to jeer at and insult him, Cedric sat up quickly, attentive for what he might say.
“Can we talk?” he said simply.
“Uh, yeah… sure…”
Harry lef Cedric just a few feet away, still in ear shot of the group and explained to Cedric what the first task was. Dragons. That was all he said. As Cedric approached the group again, Y/n was sitting there with wide eyes.
“Dragons?!” she had exclaimed. “Dragons is your first task?”
“They did say this tournament was dangerous.”
“Yeah but not death dangerous on the first task! What’s the third task going to be? Facing off with You-Know-Who himself?”
“Relax, Y/n,” Cedric said with a small smile. “I’ll do fine. Just so long as you’re in the stands cheering me on.”
“Of course, Ced, I wouldn’t miss out on it for anything. Even if you will worry me sick the whole time.”
---
The night before the first task, Y/n was on her way to meet Draco in the astronomy tower as usual. When she got there, he wasn’t. It wasn’t uncommon for him not to be the first there. It was always a toss up to figure out who would be the first to arrive. But he was always just a couple minutes behind her, if that. Today, she was waiting for almost an entire hour. The later it got the more she was considering just leaving. Right as she was gathering her things, however, she could see him reaching the top of the stairs.
“Oh,” he said, completely nonchalant; as if she hadn’t been waiting here for almost an hour for him to show. “Didn’t think you would show up.”
“You didn’t think I would show up?” she repeated with a small scoff. “You didn’t think I was going show up? Draco I have been sitting here for almost an hour, where were you?”
Draco shrugged. “You’ve been spending so much time with Diggory lately that I didn’t think you’d be able to make the time for me.”
“Draco,” Y/n sighed simply. “I am allowed to have friends outside of our secret rendezvous every day. I mean, other that an hour or two out of the night I don’t get to speak to you all day. Excuse me for making friends unconditionally.”
Draco’s gaze fell  to the ground. She was right. Of course she was right. And yes, he did feel bad. But reputation was everything to Draco’s father. And his father’s approval was everything to Draco.
When he didn’t say anything, Y/n let out another sigh, grabbing the rest of her things and beginning to walk towards the staircase.
“Wait,” Draco said, grabbing her arm before she could get too far. “Listen, I’m sorry, I am. It’s just hard. Getting to see everyone else be your friend during school. I would give anything to tell them to piss off, she already has a best friend.”
“But you don’t want it to get back to your father,” she finished for him. “Draco, I know. I grew up around your father, I see how he treats you. We’ve been through this time and time again.”
“That doesn’t make it right.”
Draco pulled Y/n over to one of the walls in the room and sat down, Y/n following soon after, resting her head on her shoulder. Draco followed in suit, pulling his arms around her, hugging her to him, burying his face in her hair.
“I hate this,” he said after a few moments of silence. “I hate having to hide you.”
“I hate pretending that I hate you.”
Draco chuckled at that comment. “You’re not very good at it.”
“You’re too good at it.”
“Touche.”
It was quiet again. Neither really minded. Y/n was simply enjoying Draco’s company while his mind was clouded with thoughts. He felt bad. He knew they couldn’t be friends with one another but did that mean he had to go out of his way to put her down in front of everyone? But at thins point it’s what everyone expects. He couldn’t stop now without raising suspicion. His thoughts were interrupted when he felt Y/n shiver beneath his hold.
“Are you cold? Do you want my pullover?” he asked quickly, already moving before she could answer.
“No, no I’m okay.”
“No really, it’s freezing up here tonight, take it.”
“But won’t you be cold then?”
“I’ll be fine,” he said, before she even agreed he already had her arms up, pulling his sweater over her head. “Better?”
“Yeah, thank you. Remind me to give it back before we leave.”
“Why?”
“Because, people will recognize it as yours, it could raise some questions that I don’t want you to have to deal with.”
Draco chuckled again. “You’re overthinking this, Y/n/n.”
“Brat,” she responded simply.
The two reminded in silence once again. It wasn’t an uncomfortable silence, they just enjoyed being around one another. Draco began to let his mind wander again. He felt guilty. For a multitude of reasons. The latest one being letting Y/n stay alone up here before finally dragging himself up the stairs. In his previous mindset, he thought she deserved it. Now he couldn’t even remember what he was upset over. Now all he could do was regret every second she spent here alone.
Neither knew how much time had passed, but eventually Draco felt Y/n’s small breaths become slower, knowing she had nodded off.
“Y/n,” he said simply, gently trying to wake her. “Hey, let’s go to bed.”
She grunted in response, tightening her arms around him to signal she didn’t want to go anywhere. Draco chuckled.
“Hey, if I could carry you back to your dorm I would but since I can’t we should go before you really don’t want to wake up.”
“Fine,” she sighed, lifting her head from his shoulder, a large yawn escaping her lips. “But only because I want to wake up in time to see the first task.”
Draco stood from the floor first, offering his hands out for her to follow suit so they could both head to sleep.
---
The next morning, Y/n did not wake up as intended. It was approaching eleven in the morning, the rest of the school had already started heading down the the Quidditch pitch by ten. She was still asleep.
Cedirc was continuously poking his head out the champions’ tent, searching the crowd for Y/n while Draco was doing the same from the stands. Neither could spot the girl anywhere. Cedric sighed with slight disappointment as the cannon went off, signaling the start of the first task.
Y/n woke up shortly after. At first she had no reason to rush as in her still half-asleep mind she dind’t immediately think about the task going on just on the other side of the school. And then, a dragon roar was heard in the distance and it hit her.
Y/n threw her blankets off the bed and rushed to the door, not even caring to change out of her pajamas before charging through the corridor. Not caring to take off the cardigan given to her by Draco previously. She meant to give it back last night, honestly she did, but it had slipped her mind in her tired state.
If she had been more alert and had more common sense, Y/n would have known that there was no physically possible way that she could make it all the way down to the pitch before the task was over, especially considering it was well on it’s way. A sane person would have waited until it was over and just met everyone back here and save herself the walking. But she was in a panicked state so none of that crossed her mind.
With her shoes on, Y/n sprinted out the dorms and through the basement. Once she got outside, Y/n heard another dragon roar. It sounded so close, she thought maybe that meant the arena wasn’t as far as she thought. This idea, however, quickly left her mind as she turned around to find a giant dragon not a hundred feet away from her.
Y/n’s eyes went wide as it seemed to look right through her. Since it was standing on the roof of the castle, she ran in the opposite direction over the bridge she was on the end of. Before she even made it across, the dragon changed course. She looked towards the direction of the dragon and instead saw a boy on a broom. Flying straight towards her.
Potter.
Before she had the chance to think of a curse to send his way for putting her in danger, he flew through the arches of the bridge, dragon right on his tail. Y/n watched in horror as the dragon (attempted to) fly through the bridge as well, breaking off many large pieces in the process. As the dragon fell, its tail whipped out and pulled Y/n’s feet out from under her, sweeping her to the ground as the rubble fell closer and closer.
“Wingardium levio-”
She didn’t have time to finish the spell before the heavy rocks landed on top of her. Making the whole world go black.
----
"I say they should've let it toast him," Draco complained to Crabbe and Goyle as they were walking back to the school. "At least then we could get some entertainment from it."
"Well Krum's fight was exciting at least," Crabbe shrugged.
"And that Fleur girl got a little singed," Goyle added.
As they all got closer to the schoo, they stopped. There were little pieces of damage in a couple corners of the castle. Most the shingles had been pulled off the roof and the main bridge leading back to the castle was practically in shambles.
"Well it looks like Potter's dragon did a number on the school," Goyle chuckled.
None saw the big deal about any of this until they were actually on the bridge. There was a pile of rubble from the cement blocking most of the path. And sticking out the side of it was a cardigan. Draco’s cardigan. With an arm inside of it.
Draco didn’t hesitate before pulling out his wand and pointing it straight towards the rubble. "Wingardium Leviosa," He casted, focusing as to not drop it again as he moved it to the outside of the bridge over the water. He was fighting the urge to look towards the body that was undoubtedly under the pile. If he broke eye contact with the boulders, it would simply fall back atop its victim. All that was going through his head, however, was that he didn’t see Y/n at the task. Even after she had been so excited to attend the day before. He almost had the pile far away enough not to cause any more damage to anything when-
"Is that the Y/l/n girl?" Crabbe exclaimed.
Draco’s head snapped away from the pile just as it wasn't above the bridge anymore and saw Y/n lying unconscious on the ground. His eyes widened and it took everything in his power not to sprint to her side and make sure she was okay.
"Uhm," He stuttered, trying to keep his composure. "Why don't you both go get one of the professors?"
The three had left while everyone was still celebrating, so they were still a few minutes behind at least.
"What?" they complained. "Why do we have to go? I don't see what the big deal is."
"Do you want her blood to be on our hands?" he had almost hissed at them. "Just go!"
"Okay, fine."
Crabbe and Goyle both left and Draco waited until they were out of view before rushing to her side.
"Y/n?" he whispered to her. "Come on, please wake up."
He put his hand in front of her nose and mouth to make sure she was breathing while watching her stomach. She was. She wasn't dead. At least not yet. Draco then looked at the arm that was crushed under the cement and carefully picked it up. It was definitely broken. Other than her arm, however, the rest of her looked fine. With the exception of some scrapes and bumps that would be easily cured in the infirmary.
Draco glanced at her face, moving her hair out of it. No matter how much he knew it wasn’t his fault, he couldn’t help but think of reasons why it could be. Maybe if he had let her sleep last night instead of returning her to her dorm. Maybe if he was honest about their friendship he could have picked her up and walked the whole way with her, ensuring she was on time. Maybe if-
"Oh my word!" Professor Mcgonagall exclaimed when she walked in. Draco quickly stood up, away from Y/n when he saw half the school trailing behind her. "What happened here Mr. Malfoy?"
"Potter," he sneered, looking at his shocked face in the front of the group. "He led his dragon straight towards the bridge with Y/n walking across it. Obviously the dragon ran into it and destroyed the top of the bridge. I levitated an entire pile of cement off of her."
"Is this true, Mr. Potter?" Mcgonagall asked him.
"I- I mean I-" he stuttered. "I did fly through the bridge to try and lose the dragon but I didn't know she was here. I might've seen something move from the corner of my eye but I had no idea it was a student."
Draco quietly scoffed and rolled my eyes. Potter never cared about anyone but himself.
“Points will be take from Gryffindor,” was all she replied, shaking her head like a disappointed mother.
“Points?” Draco sneered in response. “That’s all? He nearly killed a girl and your response is to take away some of his house points?”
“What would you have me do, Mr. Malfoy?” McGonagall continued, clearly unimpressed with his demands.
“Punish him!” Draco said. By now he was practically steaming from the ears. “Make him write a written apology? Expel him? Give him detention for all I care. I should like to think a person’s life is worth more than a few measly house points.”
“Y/n?” the group heard Cedric exclaim as he approached the girl on the ground. “What happened?”
“Ask him,” another student from Y/n’s house scowled, pointing at Harry.
“Mr. Potter I will discuss with the Headmaster what further punishments you will face for this act of carelessness. For the time being, however, take the girl to the infirmary please.”
“I think he’s done quite enough,” Draco sneered, taking a protective step in front of her as Harry made a move towards Y/n.
“I’ll take her,” Cedric offered, scooping his hands under her unconscious form.
“Watch out for her arm!” Draco near shouted when he saw how he whad been handling her. When Cedric looked at him as if he had three heads, he rescinded his statement with a nonchalant shrug. “It was sticking out of the rubble I moved… it’s most likely broken.”
Cedric gave a small nod, either one of understanding or one of thanks, Draco didn’t know. But it sufficed nonetheless.
As Cedric walked away with Y/n in his arms, Draco watched with a heavy heart. He couldn’t go on much longer like this. He needed to tell someone. He needed to tell everyone about your friendship with one another. No longer could he watch your life unfold with him in the shadows.

When it came to you, Ominis was no stranger to the idea of the long game. You, Ominis, Sebastian, and Anne had been friends for as long as you could all remember. Ominis has had a crush on you for almost just as long. It was worst this year. With Anne staying home all your attention was turned to the two boys. Usually you would turn to Anne some days and have girl time between the two of you. Now, Ominis had nothing but time to grow more and more infatuated with you.
Ever since the new fifth year beat him in a duel, Sebastian had been mostly with them, giving you and Ominis even more time alone together. It was driving him crazy. Every time you laughed in the way that he loved, rested your chin on his shoulder to look at what we was doing, leaned your arm against his to whisper something during class. He had to hold himself back so he didn’t just grab you and slam his lips onto yours. One of the only parts of you he has yet to be able to identify. As children you would play games, Ominis feeling all of his friends’ faces and guess who was who, so he knew the general idea of what your face looked like. But your lips was a mystery to him. A mystery he badly wanted solved.
Today, you were sitting with Ominis in a corridor near the slytherin common room. You had spent most of the day trying to cheer him up after Sebastian repeatedly would bother him about Salazar Slytherin’s Sciptorium. You knew that he wanted nothing to do with dark magic after the hold it has had no his family for generations. Sure, Ominis had been exaggerating his hurt feelings just a bit, but if all it took was a little pouting to get you this close to him, then you best believe he was about to win an oscar for this performance.
“He just doesn’t understand how dangerous it is!” he complained with a dramitic sigh, smiling internally due to the hand you had running soothing circles across his back.
“He’s just trying to do anything he can to help Anne,” you replied, wanting to defend him.
“I know. I don’t like seeing Anne suffer either, same as you. But I know where this path leads, and it’s never a good place.”
Ominis’s internal smile fell as he heard you greet the new student Sebastian had befriended.
“What are you doing here?” He asked them with a small scoff.
That scoff, of course, resulting in a small smack on the shoulder from you, muttering a small “Manners,” in his ear. Ominis rolled his eyes, but the smile he had inside, reserve just for you, came back once more.
“Do you have a moment?” the new student spoke up.
Ominis didn’t want to, but he heard them out. After lying about Sebastian showing them the undercroft, Ominis has been wary about this student. Even so, he was feeling at ease due to your presence, and in turn agreed to show them where Salazar’s Scriptorum was located.
“I hope we don’t regret this,” he said with a sigh as he revealed how to access the door.
“We’ve just been sitting outside of it?” you asked with a chuckle, noticing you didn’t have to even move to be at the door.
Ominis shrugged, his internal smile showing through just a bit on the outside. “It was the first place I thought of.”
“First place you thought of to go and complain about the scriptorium?”
“Precisely.”
Before any of you knew it, Sebastian and his new friend had opened the door, ushering each other inside.
“I just hope we’re ready for this,” Ominis continued to sigh.
“We’ll be fine,” you tried to reassure.
“We?” Ominis had repeated. “You’re not coming.”
“What? Ominis you can’t possibly expect me to stay behind.”
“I don’t want you getting hurt.”
“If you’re going, I’m going,” was all you said, standing your ground.
“Y/n…” he had tried to coax. You didn’t say anything, hands finding their way to your hips. Ominis sighed. He knew you were stubborn, so he also knew there was no talking you out of this. “Fine.”
Your stubborn glare quickly faded into a cheek to cheek grin as you almost skipped next to Ominis, linking your arms together before making your way into the door, following behind Sebastian and the fifth-year who had already found their way inside.
Not that you would ever admit it, but hearing Ominis speak Parsetounge did something to you. Yes, the language often ties a witch or wizard to dark magic, and for Ominis it serves only as a reminder to his family, but that doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate how attractive it was when he spoke it.
“It worked!” the fifth year spoke as the door opened. “Ominis, you possess a rare ability indeed.”
“It’s nothing,” he brushed off, retreating back towards you and linking your arms once more.
“Truly,” you agreed. “It’s fascinating.”
If you weren’t near positive that Ominis would never think about you in a romantic way whatsoever, you would have sword you saw a small tinge of red grace his cheeks at your comment. But it was probably just the lighting.
Once the door was open, the other two were fast to start figuring out the puzzles and the maze in order to get through the scriptorium. You and Ominis had stayed behind. Ominis wanted nothing to do with this, his job was just to open the door. You were curious about the area, yes, but Ominis was more important. You wanted to make sure he was okay. Usually throughout the days he would have plenty of distraction from his family and their legacy. But now? In the heart of Salazar Slytherin’s Scriptorium? All that surrounded him were reminders.
As the doors opened one by one, you all moved further and further until you reached a black door.
“Looks troubling,” was all Sebastian had said.
Ominis scoffed. “This whole place is troubling.”
As the other two went into the strange room, you didn’t budge. As Ominis was stopped from the firm grasp you still had on him, he turned towards you confused.
“I don’t like the looks of this room,” you whispered. “I have a bad feeling about it.”
“So do I,” he responded, his hand finding the top of yours to comfort you. “But for my aunt’s sake, we cannot stop now.”
“You’re right,” you nodded, taking a deep breath. “We’ll be okay.”
As soon as you stepped into the new room, the door closed behind you.
“The gate!” Sebastian called out, “We’re locked in… again.”
“Then Salazar Slytherin is not yet finished with us,” Ominis sneered. At this point, you began to panic. There was no clear way out. You began to lose even more hope when you looked in the corner and noticed-
“A skeleton,” the new student pointed out. “And Noctora’s last journal entry. She mentions being trapped here. Trapped by… and unforgivable curse.”
Your eyes widened. The incantation “crucio” etched into the floor suddenly making sense.
“No,” you said in a slight panic. “No there has to be some other way out of here. Another puzzle? Another brazier to light?”
“What?” Ominis asked, confused. “What are you talking about? What is it?”
“They know what we need to do,” Sebastian said plainly. “One of us needs to cast crucio.”
Sebastian turned to his friend by the door, discussing the curse with them while Ominis began to pace.
“Ominis,” you called to him. “Ominis relax, we will figure something out.”
“No,” he said simply. “No this all could have been avoided. I could have refused, we could have just gone to dinner. I could have protested more to you joining.”
“Ominis none of this is your fault.”
“Yes it is! Don’t you see? I put you in danger.”
“I chose to be here.”
“But you had doubts, and I assured you that it would be alright.”
“And we are alright. We’ll find a way around this.”
Before anything else could be said, they heard the new fifth year shout out “Crucio!” in Sebastian’s direction. The two of you looked towards the pair with wide eyes, about to call out towards Sebastion until… nothing happened.
“Did you do the movement wrong?” Sebastian asked.
“No,” they responded, shaking their head. “No, I think that I just couldn’t mean it. I care for you, Sebastian.”
“You have to try,” he urged.
“I can’t.”
“Cast it on me,” you spoke up suddenly, taking a step towards the pair.
“No!” Ominis had interjected quickly.
“They can’t cast it on Sebastian,” you began to explain.
“You can’t-”
“We don’t have the same connection so they could-”
“Not you!”
“Ominis,” you sighed, quieting your voice as you pulled him aside. “I will be fine.”
“I’ve felt the cruciatus curse before so I-”
“Shouldn’t have to go through it again. Let me do this, please.”
Ominis didn’t say anything more. You took his silence as a sign of agreement, so you approached the door.
“You ready?” Sebastian had asked you.
You nodded. “Ready.”
Ominis braced for the moment that the spell left their wand. He knew what to expect, but he’d never heard the sound of excruciating pain from you. That was something he was not curious to find out.
Ominis listened as the screams left your throat, as you fell to your knees on the ground. He expected this. He expected the screams to last for several seconds. But this was too long. If they had just cast the curse and left it at that, the pain would have subsided by now. This was prolonged for too long.
“Stop!” he yelled over the screams. “That’s enough!”
He waited for what felt like eternity for the screams to stop. For any sign that you were no longer in pain. But when your screams had cut off abruptly, it did not give him the relief he was waiting for.
“Y/n?” he asked into the silence. “Y/n are you okay?” Never had there ever been a moment in his life that Ominis had wished more that he could see what was happening around him. When you didn’t respond, he began to walk towards the door, calling Sebastian’s name instead. “What’s happened? Are they okay?”
When Sebastian didn’t respond either, Ominous really began to panic. “Answer me, Sebastian!”
“They fainted,” the student told him flatly.
“What?” he hissed, rushing to where he last heard your voice, hands failing about to try and find any sign of you. When his hand landed on your shoulder, he let out a small breath of relief, almost as if he expected you to have disappeared entirely. “I’m taking them to the hospital wing,” he then announced, following down your arm to find the bend of your knees, intending to pick you up.
“No!” Sebastian protested. “You can’t.”
“And why not?”
“They’ll know we were using unforgivables,” the fifth-year stated.
“What if we need you to open another door?” Sebastian commented at the same time.
“Glad to see you both care so deeply about their safety,” Ominis scoffed.
“You can’t carry them and use your wand to lead you both,” Sebastian continued, looking for another excuse to keep the boy there. “Let’s find the end of this tunnel and then we’ll take them there together, deal?”
Ominis sighed, head faced towards the floor. He didn’t want to delay getting you the help you needed, but Sebastian was right. He could crash you both into a wall and injure you further. As much as he hated to admit it, your health was in their hands now.
“Just hurry up, will you?” he muttered quietly.
---
When you finally awoke from your unconscious state, Ominis was asleep next to you. Looking around you noticed you were no longer in the dungeons, but instead in the hospital wing under watchful eyes. Well, not that Ominis could very well be included in that.
As you turned to look at the boy next to you, you moved as quietly as possible. Lacking his sight, Ominis seemed to have much higher hearing abilities than anyone else you knew, so you knew that any sudden noise would be enough to wake him. Your theory was proved correct as he stirred awake at the small ruffle of the sheet.
You watched as he opened his mouth, but no sound came out as if he changed his mind on speaking up. Instead, you saw his hand slowly reach out towards you, as if to confirm you were there.
“I’m awake,” you told him with a smile.
Ominis let out a small breath of relief. “Are you alright?”
“I’m alright,” you nodded. “I didn’t expect it to last that long.”
“It shouldn’t have,” he said, almost with a sneer. “That new student had to curse on you for longer than it needed to be. All we needed was for it to hit you, they made it linger. They’re lucky I don’t go straight to professor Black and have them expelled.”
Ominis’s thoughts stopped in their tracks when he felt you lay your hand on top of his.
“I’m alright,” you assured him again. “Lay with me.”
“I- What?”
“Please? I don’t want to think about any of this anymore.”
Ominis sat still in thought for a moment, stammering slightly to himself before standing from his chair, feeling around the bed to make sure you were out of the way before laying down beside you. You layed your head onto his chest and exhaled deeply with a contented sigh. Ominis smiled gently to himself, his nose falling into your hair as he inhaled your scent. He decided then and there that it didn’t matter that he could never see you. Every other sense he had t otake you in was just fine for him. Your voice was enough to bring a small smile to your face, your laugh even more so. Your smell felt like home to him. He could tell you were in a room just by the smell of your shampoo. He could pinpoint which brand it was in a shop just with a small whiff alone. The touch of you skin never failed to comfort him in times of distress. The soft, delicate touch of your hand on his would always bring a smile to his lips. Your taste.. He was yet to be abpe to experiance. The only one of his available senses that has yet to experience you. The rest thought you were perfect, he could only imagine that would be the same.
That is, assuming he ever decides to do anything about his feelings for you.
For now, however, this was enough for him.

Sebastian, Anne, and Y/n have been inseparable from a very young age. All three having grown up in Feldcroft made that fact inevitable. They spent all of their time at Hogwarts together, along with Ominis Gaunt of course. The four of them ate meals together, sat together in class, and spent nearly every night laughing together in the Slytherin common room.
That all changed when Anne fell ill.
After Anne was cursed, the pain was far too great for her to keep on attending Hogwarts. She would have to stay home these last few years, away from her friends and away from the magic within the school. Sebastian had immediately volunteered to stay behind with her. Being her twin brother, Sebastian could not imagine going to school without her. But Anne was quick to deny his offer. In his stead, Y/n decided that they would be the one to stay behind with Anne. Neither of the Sallow twins were happy about this arrangement either, but Y/n managed to convince them both with time. They told Anne that as long as the Ministry allowed them to use magic off campus, and professor continued sending assignments by owl, they wouldn’t fall behind. They told Sebastian that he needed time and space in order to research a cure for his sister. Not to mention the fact that Anne would never be completely honest about her state to her brother. Y/n would be his eyes and ears back home, keeping track of Anne and reporting back.
For a while, this solution worked. All were happy for a time. Sure, Ominis and Sebastion missed their friends at school, but each sent enough owls to compensate for the loss of time they had. Y/n was still learning spells from home, keeping up rather nicely with the rest of the 5th-years all things considered. Sure, their progress would be more proficient from the school, and they couldn’t do everything the same, but it was enough.
It was an ordinary day when Sebastian had come to surprise his sister, and Y/n of course, with n impromptu visit. Neither expected his arrival, but both were elated upon seeing him.
Anne had been sitting at the dining room table, reading one of her books as usual while Y/n was reading through their schoolwork behind the hanging  curtains used to separate the bedrooms when he arrived. Y/n heard the front door open, sure, but they simply pictured it had been Anne’s uncle, Solomon, heading outside to finish his work. It wasn’t until Anne gasped with delight that they had turned to find Solomon, still standing in his spot behind them.
“Sebastian!” Y/n heard Anne announce. Now they were quickly heading into the main foyer of the house as well. “Where did you-”
Before Anne could finish, Y/n took advantage of the small space between the twins and jumped up to give Sebastian the biggest hug they could muster. “Sebastian!” they celebrated as well. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to see you both,” he said with a smile. “Hogwarts is not the same without you.”
As Y/n opened their eyes, still hugging the boy in front of them, they noticed another person standing behind.
“Who’s this?” Anne asked curiously. Y/n stepped back to allow Sebastian space to introduce his new friend.
“Oh, of course,” Sebastian said, nearly seeming to have forgotten. Whether he had forgotten that the new student was there or that the two hadn’t met them yet, Y/n didn’t know. “Anne, Y/n. This is Jo. The new fifth year I was telling you about.”
“Hello, Jo,” Anne said with a polite smile. Y/n offered a small wave yet no words left their mouth.
“How do you do?” Jo replied, returning Anne’s grin.
“When I told them I was coming to visit they wanted to come with and meet you,” Sebastian continued, nudging Anne slightly as he did so.
“And you as well, Y/n,” Jo finished, still smiling although now it felt more awkward than polite. “Ominis always seems to talk about you both nonstop. Sebastian too.”
“Does he?” Anne chuckled. “Oh how I do miss Ominis. How is he doing?”
“He’s Ominis,” Sebastian responded, returning Anne’s small laugh. “He’s been a bit perturbed lately.”
“Oh?” Y/n said, speaking up for the first time since introductions have been made. “Why is that?”
“He’s rather upset that Sebastion has shown me the Undercroft I think.”
“The Undercroft?” Y/n repeated, both their and Anne’s face exhibiting pure shock. “Seb’s shown you the Undercroft?”
“Just so they would have a space to pracice their spells,” Sebastian defended. “Catching up to five years worth of teachings takes time and space after all.”
“Which I’m sure the professors have more than happy to supply?” Anne asked with a slight tone of sarcasm.
“You can’t be upset with me, Anne,” Sebastian said, his straight face slowly turning into a slight smirk. “Look what I’ve brought you.”
Sebastian pulled a small fruit out of seemingly no where as Anne let out a small gasp.
“Is that what I think it is?”
It was then that their Unlce Solomon spoke up, snatching the fruit from his hand before Anne could reach it.
“Hey!” Sebastian protested.
“We’ve been over this, boy,” he began. “Shrivelfigs cannot reverse a curse, nothing can! The sooner you accept that reality the better.” With that, he pulled out his wand and evaporated the fruit into thin air.
“But we haven’t tried everything!” Sebastian combatted.
“There is no cure!” Solomon yelled. “When will you accept that?!”
“Never! I can never accept that!”
“Sebastian!” Y/n called as Anne had suddlenly been toppled over by sudden onslaughts of pain. Right as they got his attention, Anne screamed out from the pain.
“Now look what you’ve done,” Solomon lectured, rushing the Anne’s aid alongside Y/n. Sebastian was at a loss for words for a moment.
“A-Anne I’m sorry,” he stuttered before Solomon turned to growl at him once more.
“Leave,” was all he said. Sebastian didn’t put up a fight. Jo followed out right behind him.
“Sebastian, wait!” Y/n called out, rushing out the door behind them.
“If you don’t mind, I just need a moment alone,” they heard him say to Jo. Jo stepped aside right away, but Y/n knew better.
“Seb!” they called again.
“I don’t wish to talk about it, Y/n.”
“Yes, you do,” they responded simply. “Sebastian Sallow I have known you for well over a decade now, I know when you need to vent.”
“I shouldn’t have come,” he said with a sigh. “I’ll see you later, Y/n.”
Y/n watched behind as Sebastian turned to leave, Jo following close behind. Y/n didn’t know how long they were standing there before Anne slowly made her way out the door, placing a hand on their shoulder.
“You should be resting,” Y/n said simply, a longing gaze still following where Sebastian had left.
“I know,” Anne smiled. “I don’t like them.”
“Who?”
“Who do you think?”
“Yeah,” Y/n sighed. “I don’t like them either.”
---
It had been weeks since you had last spoken to Sebastian. He had sent you an owl or two since the last he visited Feldcroft, but you’ve heard nothing since.
“Have you heard anything?” they has asked Anne after a few minutes of silence during dinner.
“From Sebastian?” she confirmed. “No, not since his last owl. I’m a bit worried.”
“So am I.”
The pair fell into a pregnant silence once again, neither wanting to express what they both feared.
“You should tell him,” Anne spoke up after another moment.
“Tell him what?”
“How you feel.”
“No!”
“Why not?”
Y/n sighed. “The four of us have been friends for as long as I can remember. The three of us even longer. He doesn’t see me in that way.”
“How would you know that if you don’t say anything?”
“Because, Anne! I can tell.” The two fell silent again, but this time only for a second. Anne stayed quiet because she knew that Y/n had more to say, her silence was her own way of encouraging them to do so. “It’s just…” Y/n continued. “You say how he was acting around Jo. You saw the way they made his eyes sparkle. He’s never looked at me like that.”
“He only looks at you like that,” Anne quickly combatted. “I didn’t see that familiar gleam in his eye until you walked in that day. That ‘sparkle’ you saw was not reserved for Jo. It was for you.”
“I would have seen it before,” Y/n shrugged. “If I was able to notice it then I should have been able to see it if it was there in the past.”
“But it has been!” she insisted. “Trust me! Every longing glance, every wistful stare, I have had to watch Sebastian give you. You’ve just never seen it because you were too busy giving him the same look.”
Y/n sat and thought about it for a moment. Anne was right. At least, they hoped she was. And they weren’t going to waste any more time. Without another word, Y/n rushed to their shared bedroom with Anne, rummaging through everything to find a spare piece of parchment. When they found one, they began to write.
My dearest Sebastian,   they wrote
I’ve spent enough years waiting for the right time to tell you this, but I think the time has come. Seb.. I -
Their writing was cut off by a loud bang coming from outside. Y/n whipped their head up and took their wand out quickly, slowly approaching a window. They half expected to see one of the Feldcroft residents using confringo or bombarda on a nearby training dummy. But what actually awaited them outside was much worse.
Feldcroft was under attack.
Goblins, aall Ranrok’s followers were storming the village. Solomon could be heard hollering from them outside. It wasn’t until Anne shouted that Y/n sprang into action.
“Anne!” they called, bursting through the front door of the Sallow’s house. Anne was crouch over near the ground, panting for breath as more goblins began to storm the village. “Where is everyone?” they wondered allowed, seeing no one but themself and the Sallows defending the village.
“Probably hiding in their cellars,” Solomon concluded before raising his voice so they could hear and shouting out, “COWARDS!”
No matter what the trio did, more goblins seemed to keep coming. Y/n didn’t know what they were after, but they didn’t wish to find out.
Then, out of no where, Sebastian had arrived with Jo trailing close behind. The two didn’t hesitate before jumping into action, helping the other three defend from the goblins attacking. The battle seemed to never end.
Y/n and Anne had finished off the last of the goblins surrounding them, stopping for a moment to take a small rest. Before they knew it, another goblin was approaching Anne with his sword raised above his head, Anne didn’t have time to react. Just as Y/n began lifting their wand once again, she heard someone else shout from across the square, “Imperio!”
They turned to see Sebastian holding his wand out towards the goblin, a sinister look in his eyes that were partially clouded over.
“Sebastian,” they gasped in slight disbelief, standing up from their crouched position on the ground. Before anything else could be said, everyone watched as the goblin before them brought his own sword to his neck, and sliced it. Y/n’s hands flew to their mouth. Anne gasped from her spot on the ground, her eyes widening in fear. They were each frozen. Sebastian ran to Anne and offered his hand to her to help her up. Anne looked at him in fear, unmoving.
“Boy, what have you done!” Solomon spat in his direction, rushing between he and Anne.
“Saved my sister!” Sebastian combatted. “I-”
“With an unforgivable curse! From that damned book no doubt!” he continued, helping Anne off the ground and ushering her inside. “Your father would be ashamed! You’ve gone too far, Sebastian. Stay away from her. From all of us.”
As Solomon led Anne inside, Y/n stayed standing where they were, eyes focused unwarily at Sebastian as Jo ran inside, no doubt to defend his actions to his family.
“Y/n,” he said slowly, almost begging as he approached them. “Please, you have to understand that I-”
“This isn’t the first you’ve used dark magic, is it?” they asked simply.
“I would never-”
“You have to mean it to cast those curses.”
“I had to protect Anne! Surely you can understand that.”
“I love Anne as dearly as you do,” they began. “But Seb, she doesn’t want this. She doesn’t want you to lose yourself for her. In the end, none of us win that way.”
“I did what I had to do. To protect her. You would have done the same.”
“There are a hundred other spells you could have used to ‘protect’ her!” Y/n combatted. “All of which have not been labeled as dark, unforgivable magic!”
“You wouldn’t understand.”
At this, Y/n scoffed. “Me? I wouldn’t understand? I have been here  every day, Sebastian! While you and Ominis are at school, I’m here. With Anne. I watch her struggle every day and I would give anything to take that away from her. So don’t you dare tell me that I don’t understand.”
“Y/n!” Sebastian called as they turned away from him, walking back towards their house. Y/n didn’t turn back. They didn’t want him to see the small tears welling up in their eyes.
Meanwhile, Jo was exploring the Sallow house, trying to comfort Anne and defend Sebastian’s actions to his uncle. While looking around, they found the letter Y/n had begun writing to him. After reading it, Jo looked left and right to see no one was watching and muttered a quiet “Incendio,” under their breath, watching as the small parchment that never got to see the light of day burned to ash. Burned to nothing.

Scandal: Part 4
Summary: Elijah Mikaelson has never met anyone who was more skilled than he was. After all, he’s had lifetime after lifetime to learn. But this all changed when he met Hyacinth Bennet. Mrs. Hyacinth Bennet that was. But was this woman, married or not, the single key to his heart?

“Did she meet you?” Hayley asked, handing the letter back.
“She did.”
“And? Then what? How did you get her to accept you again?”
Elijah smiled slightly and looked at the ground. If he was still human he was sure he’d be blushing. After a moment, however, his eyes met Hayley’s again as he said simply…
“I confessed.”
🌹✉🌹
“I wish to make this quick,” Hyacinth said as she appeared behind Elijah. The man turned around quickly, his hopes rising as he saw that she did indeed show up to meet him. “I wanted to return this,” she continued, holding out the letter Elijah had delivered back to him. “It would be better in your hands so no one saw it. I figured you’d want your secret kept.”
“Hyacinth I-”
“Mr Mikaelson, I think I’ve allowed myself to become too comfortable with you,” she interrupted. “I apoligize for I should not have allowed myself to-”
“You’re being ridiculous!”
“I’m being ridiculous?” Hyacinth repeated with a scoff. “Sír, I’m not sure you understand exactly what it is I saw the other night. You and you brother had a… a harlot! Dead! In front of you both. Her blood dripping down your faces like she was an afternoon snack! Who is to say I’m not next. Or what other poor creature you’d pray upon next.”
“That’s would never happen, you don’t know-”
“That’s where you are sorelly mistaken, Mr. Mikaelson.” Elijah looked taken aback. He didn’t respond, he was curious as to what the young woman would say next. “I’ve read books, sir. I’ve read all about you and your kind. How you pray on the innocent to keep yourselves nourshed. How you use your mind tricks to subdue your victims into submisson. How you leave them with no memory of said interaction. So I would have no knowledge if this whole friendship between us has been faked.”
“I wish that were the case,” Elijah scoffed. Before Hyacinth got the chance to take offense to his statement, he continued talking. “Do you know how much easier this would be if I had just compelled our relationship to one another. If everything here was simply fabricated, false emotions. If I didn’t have to risk not only your but my own reputation every time I see you across the room.”
The woman was quiet for a moment. She felt her anger and fear slowly evaporating as she began to lose her composure. “What do you mean?” she asked simply.
“I take pride in my honor. I like to think myself a gentleman. But that honor, that duty, is hanging by a thread and gets thinner with every moment I am in your presence.” With every line, Elijah stepped closer and closer to the girl whom was stunned into silence. “Every glance, every laugh, every time you flip your hair over your shoulder or make one of your quick quips towards me, the thread is getting smaller and smaller; threatening to break with every interaction we have.”
“I do not understand what you mean.”
“Oh do not play that game with me. You cannot act the way you do towards me and claim to have no knowledge of these feelings I am describing.”
“You seem to forget, sir, I am a married woman.”
“A fact that has never halted your advances before. Nor stopped you from sneaking away from your said husband to promenade with my family and myself.”
When Hyacinth didn’t respond, Elijah took another step closer to her. The woman began to hold her breath to keep it from trembling with their close proximity.
“Night and day, you occupy my thoughts,” Elijah continued. “Your face is all I can think about, your voice all I can hear, your perfume all I can smell. And every day, every moment I am in your presence I must kick myself to remind me that you are not mine for the taking. But how I wish I could have that honor. The honor your husband has to be able to hold you every night as you fall asleep. To kiss you whenever he feels. To be able to so much as graise your hand in a public setting without worrying about prying eyes around you. So excuse me, if I wish I could compel these feelings away. That with a snap of my fingers I could have you forget me and my family and return to your own life. That I didn’t have to risk my honor nor your own integrity whenever you did so much as smile.
“From the day that I first met you, you infuriated me. I thought how dare there be a woman who could know more of the world than me. Who could be more skilled than me. More linguistic. And what gives her the right to be so damned tempting.”
At the end of his speech, Hyacinth couldn’t take any more. She decided to take things into her own hands. Before Elijah could open his mouth to say anything more, she grabbed him by his jacket and pulled him to her, closing the already small gap between them as she drew his lips to her own. Living over a thousand years has let Elijah experience an array of different things. Every experience you could think of, every skill you could learn, every emotion you could feel. But he would be lying if he said he’d ever felt anything like this before. Every experienced a kiss like hers. They acted as if it could be their last, which it very well could be. But for this moment, this one perfect, secret moment shared between the two, everything was perfect. Nothing else mattered. Not that Hyacinth’s husband sat at home, non the wiser about any of this, nor that not a month prior she had seen the unthinkable in the Mikaelson home. It was just them two in this moment. Nothing else.
Eventually, however, the two pulled away.
“I should be screaming for the hills away from you,” Hyacinth said softly with a small sigh. Despite her words, she couldn’t help the small grin appearing on her lips.
“Or,” Elijah began. “I could rip that vervain from around your throat to compel you to spend the night with me.”
“Was it that obvious?” Hyacinth asked, glancing down at the new locket around her neck, filled with the only small herb she found was a weakness to his kind.
“If the smell wasn’t enough then surely the slight burning against my chest as you grabbed me may have given it away.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright, you were being cautious, it’s a smart move.”
“I will be requiring a full explanation about you and your family at some point in the very near future.”
“But right now?”
“Right now…” Hyacinth said with a small smirk, her voice softening slightly. “Right now I need you to kiss me again.”
And that he did.
🌹✉🌹
Hayley seemed in shock and awe at Elijah’s story. She couldn’t believe something like this was happening in that time era. In a time of scandal sheets and unlawful divorce. She couldn’t imagine what would have happened if they got caught. But at the same time, she couldn’t help but to root for the two. She was invested at this point.
“She agreed to return here with me,” Elijah continued. “Niklaus and I explained everything to her. What she saw, what we were, our history. She sat in silence the whole time listening. We didn’t know how she would react when we finished. I half expected her to get up and leave, never to turn back again.”
“And did she?”
“No,” he said with a smile. “Once we finished, she bean asking questions. Questions about our lives. She wanted to know what it was like to live lifetime after lifetime. Eventually, Klaus got bored with the small trip down memory lane, so he left to find his next meal. I offered to bring Mrs. Bennet home, but she refused.”
