Movie Review : Deadpool 1 & 2
Genres - Action, Comedy
Year - 2016 (DP1), 2018 (DP2)
Language – English
RATING 10/10
Summary:-
DP 1 : Wade Wilson is a mercenary, who is diagnosed with cancer. In order to treat it, he is given mutant abilities, which also disfigures him. He, therefore, tries to hunt and down the person who disfigured him as his alter ego, DEADPOOL.
DP 2 : Deadpool forms the team X-Force to protect a young mutant from the time-traveling soldier, Cable.
Reasons to watch it:-
DEADPOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The MERC with the MOUTH finally hits the big screens.
A hilariously side-splitting superhero that does not feel like brooding and sighing his way into saving the world.
Becomes your all time favourite “LOVE STORY” (DP1) / “FAMILY MOVIE” (DP2)
Movie – Good or Bad?
So, if you can, catch up on all X-Men movies before watching this or else you will feel like a truck load of shit hitting you all at once...
I’m kidding. This does come in reference to the X-Men series but can very easily be watched stand alone. That’s the beauty. You are not expected to have much prior knowledge except the basic concept of the mutant universe.
DP 1 : The origin story. There is the hero, the accented villain, the comedic best friend, the love interest, the hero conquers all story-line...... basically the ingredients of every other superhero movie ever. But there is that one ingredient, that basically sets it up apart from all others. For those of you who don’t know, Deadpool is a character that frequently breaks the fourth wall. This fourth wall breaking, along with his perverted comic timing, makes it one of the best superhero movies ever. One of his references being that he constantly refers to his story as that of a love story.
DP 2 : The sequel is just as good as the first one. I know.....what a shocker, right? Because who would have ever guessed the sequel can ever come close to the original. But here we are.
The sequel is a f-word movie. A family movie. It has our “friendly neighborhood” anti-hero established as a merc with a mouth that kills bad guys. There is a lot of killing going around both movies because, well, mercenary.
The sequel was not just a recycled version of the first movie. There was a completely different plot and forward progress for the hero. Also, fantastic Celine Dion music addition to Deadpool’s opening credits~
The first movie was tight. It left you wanting more! It had hints of DeadpoolXColossus bromance. The sequel has that in spades. You cannot not ship them at the end of the movie.
The first movie and the sequel featured a pansexual character, A.K.A., Deadpool. The sequel also included a lesbian couple, which is a first for superhero movies.
The Deadpool franchise has always pushed boundaries and taken risks like nobody's business. Which is quite frankly why it made it a massive success!
Reasons for my Reaction -
Story - The story-line for DP1 was linear, as in, it was a standard superhero origin story that was told in an original way. The story-line for DP2 was completely different that linked Deadpool to its comic book characters and maintained the fourth wall breaking method from the first movie.
Dialogues - Hilarious!!! Quotable!!! Every dialogue seamlessly goes from one to the other for both movies. Also, so many references to the pop culture!
Acting - Ryan Reynolds shines as the comic book character that practically seems written for him. Nobody else could play Deadpool, especially after the colossal fail of his first time. *See what I did there ;)* All other actors are perfectly cast. From Morenno Baccarin and Ed Skrein in the first movie to Zazi Beetze and Josh Brolin in the second movie.
Direction - Man, the direction of this movie is so epic. Everything done right.
Is it worth watching?
That is actually not the question to be asked. What you need to ask is how long will it take you to finish the movies, its deleted scenes, the interviews for it, the honest trailers featuring Deadpool and, of course, the Deadpool comics??
Answer: If you start now, and do not sleep, you can make it just in time for Deadpool 3.
“Happy Valentine's and Happy Thanksgiving from Captain Deadpool, nope, just Deadpool.” - 2016 and 2018 DP
Also, such husband goals tho...

Movie Review : Mission Impossible FALLOUT

Genres - Action, Adventure, Thriller
Year - 2018
Language – English
RATING 8.5/10
Summary:-
The sixth in the series, Ethan Hunt’s back in action with his IMF team who join August Walker, a reputed assassin under the CIA, to stop John Lark a massive arms dealer who leads a terrorist group called ‘Apostles’ aiming to carry out a nuclear attack across Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, and Saudi Arabia.
Reasons to watch it:-
There are sooo many parts and all are pretty much the same, so why watch?
Action sequence is pretty great.
Hero’s emotional roller-coaster is out in the open!
Gives purpose and meaning to all the previous Mission Impossible series.
I have arrived~
Movie – Good or Bad?
Okay so, I have dissed on this movie a bit in the past tbh. It’s not because I hate it, in fact I’m an action addict. It’s the childhood bonding sesh with my Dad lol. Give me a spy movie and I’m living life! But I found myself losing interest in the franchise. It felt like one of those movies that do extremely well when released but instead of bringing it to a well deserved ending the creators choose to extend it as much as they can, be it fillers or a long story-line, primarily for commercial reasons. That just puts me off because this trend is very repetitive and in most cases every part released feels like the same story as its predecessor.
It tends to be a drag but being a sucker for - fast cars, crazy tech, and awesome self defense fighting moves... I gave it a go. So I knew I was going to watch this movie, what I didn’t know was that I’ll be watching this on the big screen.
Which btw, no regrets!
The sound effects and action sequences were well shot. It reminded me of the James Bond movie - Skyfall where Daniel Craig’s character is given a past to explore alongside people who he can truly depend upon with his life and trust. Similarly, Ethan has his gang who he can ride or die for while they had his back at all times.
He’s also got to put his leadership aside as he’s made to work with the guys from the CIA, they can not trust Ethan and his MI associates since it is an extensive and vital mission surrounding nuclear bombs.
Putting his pride aside, Ethan puts out his best front and teams with CIA for the mission, little does he know the depths of what demands he will be facing with our story’s villain - The White Widow and the well-hidden terrorist ring leader John Lark.
Can they stop them on time or must they watch everything burn?
Reason for My Reaction -
Story - Apart from his impossible mission and his chemistry with his work buds, the focus is brought back to the one special girl in his life, remember the estranged wife?
Dialogues - As every action movie goes, most were pretty predictable but the humor among Ethan’s friends brought life to his character as well as made the movie quite enjoyable.
Acting - The movie would not hold a huge reputation if it weren’t for the amazing stunts and cast. I would go as far as to say that even if it were to have poor writing the cast can pull it off to a big success.
Direction - Personally, a good directing makes an action movie, the specifics behind the zooms, the movement, the flow, the suspense, the punchline pauses, the villain, and more are all a combined recipe for DAYUMM, NOW THAT’S A SPY MOVIE. It definitely had the audience hooked.
Is it worth watching?
Maybe it was the big screen and the sound effects that brought on this positive review, there’s one thing I can agree on is that it was better than Ghost Protocol.
Should you watch it? YOU WANT TO FIGHT ME ON THAT?!??! Just kidding lol, yes go watch it!

hereditary is about mental illness being passed on through genetics and manipulative dynamics. its a literal metaphor for trauma and what grief and unattended mental illness does to a family. peter being crowned is him being the designated child to carry the guilt just like his mother did. its not a horror film its a drama film that descends into hell. how the fuck do you not get this LMAO
After reading other reviews and the Director’s interviews, yeah, I knew it was all about mental illness and it was a literal metaphor.
I wrote this because, yes, while it does depict mental illness and a family’s manipulation into it, it does not come off screen. I’m not asking for an exposition type dialogue from the Director but the plot had multiple themes running around which makes it feel over-crowded at times. Witchcraft? Demons? Possession? Illness? Relating to reality? Are a few thought elements I had through its course.
Which is the case for most viewers online. For some, it required re-watching before realizing what it means and what it stands for and finding answers to their questions.
Admins here are fans of past favorites like It Follows and Classic Horror movies. So Hereditary being slow or open-ended does not hamper our thoughts and perceptions on how good or bad the movie is, any cinematic style is a piece of art because we know how much time and effort goes into making a film.(Trust me.) We even followed the movie across media channels since we were genuinely excited about it but instead noticed the ratings go down a few weeks after having watched it. One has to understand that not everyone is going to collectively fangirl over a movie. It definitely has its Pros and Cons, we simply felt it didn’t offer to our taste, therefore the current review.
To reiterate, the review is a personal point of view and the first impressions of what I received from the movie. I judge movies on what I feel at the end of it. It can be tragic, romantic, comedic, horror, mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, art films…. basically just about everything. If I walk away feeling what was the point, then it does feel severely disappointing (including the expectations with the given claims and hype the movie brought along).
Read reviews of people enjoying the film and we agree with their enthusiasm and a lot of the points they made! But hey, it’s not a movie for everyone.
Ignoring the rest of the world, speaking entirely for myself, I did see hints, hints of things that brought massive significance to the plot but like I said, there were too many things that were happening in one go.
From your perspective, I assume you easily understood the meaning and the metaphors. In which case, clearly you are smart enough for it.
I figured since it was running in theaters then, I must avoid major spoilers which is why I gave my review without much in-depth explanation. You love, you hate, that’s the world for ya. The least I can do is follow up with an edited and detailed version of my review, shortly.

Movie Review : Ant-Man and the Wasp
Genres - Action, Comedy
Year - 2018
Language – English
RATING 8/10
Summary -
Scott Lang, the Ant-Man, has to deal with the fall-out of his choices in the movie, Captain America : Civil War. Hope Van Dyne, the Wasp, and her father, Hank Pym hopes to be reunited with Hope’s mother, Janet Van Dyne.
Reasons to watch it -
Whether or not, you are a Marvel fan, you know that the Avengers exist. So why watch this :-
Comedy. At its heart, it should be watched for the comedy alone
Finally, Marvel decides to grow a pair give a female super-heroine a back-story and equal screen-time as the male super-hero. It only took 10 years and 19 movies to get here.
Evangeline Lilly....oh...Wow
It’s a hilariously fun watch for anyone, even if you haven’t watched a single Marvel movie.
Movie – Good or Bad -
The movie is hilarious. That is the single most defining word for it. It is family-friendly, with goofy friends and, you know, a touch of SUPER-stuff. Bad joke....sorry. However, this is not a reflection of the movie’s humor.
Scott Lang is a criminal, in the same way Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are detectives in the Rush Hour series. They can do the job but they do it in the most hilariously goof-ball way. He is the nicest criminal you could possibly meet. And he has a daughter, Cassie, who is just about the most adorably precocious child (Yeah, its a trope but, hey, I’m a fan of it)
Hope Van Dyne is the daughter of the original Ant-Man and Wasp duo, Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. She is a heroine who wants her mother back, who, as it turns out, is just as badass as her daughter. She is not just another heroine that is existing to ensure that the hero’s life goes as smoothly as possible. Nope. The opening scene of the movie is her flashback and the entry of the hero is to assist her mission to save her mother. Without giving too much away, you are guaranteed to be blown away by her....just by being herself. Her character is not out-of-the-world unique or picture-perfect. She is not the most hilarious or carefree. She is sarcastic, tough and sensitive. In the world of heroes and heroines, where everything seems larger than life, and in the case of this movie, occasionally smaller, she feels grounded and realistic.
Hank Pym is Hope’s father, the original Ant-Man. He is an arrogant gruff scientist who seems to verbally kick Scott’s ass every time he sees him.
The wombats, as they are fondly termed by Hank Pym, are just as hysterical as ever. And a special welcome back to Michael Pena, AKA, Luis’s lip-syncing story-telling.
Ava Starr / The Ghost is the villain in this movie. Its a rarity to come across a villain who is actually well-developed and has genuine reasons for being a villain.
The rest of the hilarity of the movie is covered by anything and everything that can become big or small. Dealer’s choice. (Like a Hello Kitty pez dispenser - #Childhood callback)
Reason for My Reaction -
Story - The story is kind of predictable but that’s to be expected with this kind of superhero movie. Like all other Marvel movies. So, story-wise, it’s just another chapter in the Marvel Universe and as a stand-alone movie, it doesn’t have much of a story.
Dialogues - This is why this movie is so worth it. The dialogues are so quick and funny. And once again, special mention to Michael Pena’s, Luis. For those who have watched Ant-Man, you know what I’m talking about. To those who have never watched it, you are truly missing out on his scenes.
Direction - The direction has been done flawlessly. I am both, comparing it to the first movie and by itself, and it has been excellent. The director has learned from the first and perfected the method of seamless flow between action, comedy and comedic action. It can clearly be seen in the snappy dialogue delivery versus the badass fight sequences.
Acting - The acting was great. All actors have managed to actually prove that they belong in the movie and were not just pushed into together. The scenes were flowing back and forth between all actors wonderfully.
Is it worth watching?
Hell, yeah. You don’t have to watch the Marvel movies. You don’t even have to watch the first part. Trust me, you will be getting a very interesting summary of the first movie in this movie itself, courtesy Luis. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy!!!

Movie Review - Hereditary

Genres - Horror
Year - 2018
Language – English
RATING 1/10
Summary -
A family of 4 who is haunted by the secrets that were kept by their grandmother.
Reasons to watch it -
When I first decided to watch this, it was for a few reasons:-
Touted as The Exorcist for the new generation
I scare easily and I still love horror movies
Me and @mochimakoto were so into it, getting carried away with the hype
"HERE’S TO HOPING” for an amazing horror movie.....
Movie – Good or Bad -
..........WRONG.
Bad. The movie was so incredulously bad it makes you wonder which imbecile working on this thought it was a good idea.
It was terrifying, alright!!!! Terrifying to think about the fact that I actually paid to watch this crap. That I actually travelled to the Cinema Hall and watched this. That I actually sat through it. Oh wait, I know why I sat through it. I was waiting for them to get to the god damn point!!! I was waiting for them to show me why I spent 2 hours of my life on this. This is a question the creators of this movie will never be able to answer.
Reason for My Reaction -
Story - Hah!!! More like what story. Here’s a fun game for anyone reading this. Please find the story and send it to me. I mean that sincerely. I would really love to know if there was a story somewhere in this.
Dialogues - It was just there. There was nothing spectacular or unique or different from usual dialogues in almost all horror films. There was no line that sticks with you when you leave the cinema hall.
Acting - You see that sad little “1” out of 10 rating. Yeah, that’s purely and only for the main actress - Toni Collete. She was the only thing in this movie that actually terrified me. Everyone else was average. Not bad. Not particularly good.
Direction - Please director, watch A Quiet Place and take lessons from John Krasinski on how to at least scare people considering that is what you set out to do. Or at least watch the Exorcist, so you can take notes.
Is it worth watching?
Ummmmmmm………. Nooooooooooo. I would never ever subject you, readers, to this. Enough said. Disclaimer - Watch at your own risk.

Movie Review : Ocean’s 8

Genres - Action, Comedy, Crime/Heist
Year - 2018
Language – English
RATING 10/10
Summary -
Eight extraordinary women team up to pull off an equally extraordinary heist to steal a $150 million diamond necklace, locked in Cartier’s extensively protected vault.

Reasons to watch it -
If you weren't convinced already then let me assist you with a little nudge ~
A female lead cast! Of 8! Helloo!
A well planned heist movie with bad ass smart ladies.
Totally gay, love it. So many double meanings.
The cast selection (which I will elaborate on further)
Fast-paced and similar filming style to the past Ocean's franchise. More exciting. So bye, boredom.
Movie – Good or Bad -
Where do I begin? So, the opening scene, with a family background of criminal history - Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) gains her free out of jail card. She just wants to go for walks, have a normal job, and social life. "Normal" defines itself completely different in her books. Here we get a hint to how she landed in the jail in the first place. After some well thought out jailspiration she decides to pull off an extremely factual plan for a very important necklace. This is where her recruiter babe comes in, her BFF (or something more? Wink wink) Lou (Cate Blanchett).
Lou is your typical butch who lusts after motorbikes. Sigh, girlfriend material. They get stylishly dressed and head off to find their accomplices for the job, convinced to rob a massive 6 pound Liz Taylor type diamond necklace. Debbie has made it very clear that she does not want a ‘Him’ in the gang.
Introducing the admirable diverse Ocean's 8 cast - Sandra Bullock, Cate blanchet, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Anne hathaway. (I can't help but appreciate films that are inclusive.)

Danny Ocean (George Clooney) from the past Ocean’s is Debbie’s brother. You can see why the cops don’t trust her and had her locked up. That’s why she needs to be very smart about this. Therefore, they have a scapegoat - Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway).

I’m not going to tell you much but she has a big role to play behind the necklace. Also, prepare for some blush-worthy and kinky dialogues/scenes.
To close this up, the heist goes down at the prestigious Met Gala where the theme highlights Crown Jewels. The celebrities attending have exclusive invite-only access and are draped in glorious rare jewels as per the theme.
There’s also a cameo by James Corden as an investigator who is all too familiar with Debbie and her family’s criminal records and potential. Dakota Fanning is another cameo.
The girls have their ears perked and eyes focused, the main question is - Has the police caught their trail in the end?
I hope there's another part, they deserve one quick!
Reason for My Reaction -
Story - It’s kinda predictable but I am not complaining! That’s just how it is with heist movies. You basically know how it all goes down. Especially if you know the past Ocean’s franchise then this plot is familiar territory. You could even relate it to The Italian Job. Well, you get the gist of it. Amazing women I look up to, buckle up to steal a diamond necklace. Most of us already know what happens but trust me the fun remains in the entire planning and execution process.
Dialogues & Direction - They are soo goofy and refreshing but also very intelligent. The flow of a movie is very important to me otherwise I'm left in a puzzle OR even ready for bed. Here this isn't the case, the sequence is very easy to comprehend. You don't have to watch the past Ocean's. The story is easy to grasp and immerse into. The dialogues are super witty. The suspense and little surprises along the way completely maintain their impact.
Acting - There are only compliments to add to the existing talented cast. I noticed that every actress was given equal amounts of screen time (I mean except Sandra and Cate who are the leads so obviously they had more) which is a definite plus point. Unfortunately that lacks in most male-driven movies, like Tom Cruise in those gazillion Mission Impossible movies. Trust me I love them but now a bit tired of them.
Why this was primarily important to me is how this movie is a big proving point to Hollywood that middle-aged females can pull off a movie to the top of the charts and bring in the big bucks!
"Who thinks that? Stupid, Lazy people"
Is it worth watching?
Hey you, yeah you, come a little closer...
I want you to sit back nice and slow, let me make you experience something a whole lot different like you've never felt before... (Sorry not sorry for the sexual innuendo but that’s what you’ll get here!) I mean just look below... You’re welcome! I don’t know about you but I am down to spend the rest of my life with Lou and Debbie.
Kiss, Kiss, Fall in Love!
