Dean chuckles at the face you make before taking another swig. ‘Ya you never really get use to the bad stuff.
Out of habit Dean scanned the room to make sure everyone was still ok ‘I don’t know what the rest of the night may lead us. But I couldn’t pick a better person to have a drink with. You are better looking than my brother.’ Dean joked. ‘Though the only way this is getting better is if we had some pie’ Dean made sure that he laid eyes on his brother and that he was ok before returning his attention back to Paige. ‘When we get out of this. My brother and I are going to make sure that window of yours gets fixed before we leave. After we make sure that your mother and the nurse are ok.’ Offering some more of the cheep stuff.’

Living near the water had its ups and downs. On the upside, beautiful sunsets and sunrises. A nice breeze would come off the water during really hot days. You were able to take a dive off the dock during the summer or simply enjoy the landscape by the shore.
The downside was the storms. They were more like monsoons—high, violent winds, rain, and sometimes hail. It wasn't something you got used to very quickly. It was definitely an adjustment. Today, however, something weird was coming off the mountains: a thick mist sitting and floating on top of the water. Regardless, Paige didn't have time to worry about it. Her mother needed groceries, and her window patched up; a tree branch had come straight through it.
"Really wish you would just let the maintenance guys come and fix it," Jane, her mother, pleaded with her daughter from her wheelchair. Her live-in nurse, Fatima, was there helping Paige with the cleanup. "Oh, please, Mother. This would be so much faster. Let me run into town, get a tarp, and some duct tape, just in case they don't make it around to us today." So, Paige set off after kissing her mother goodbye and telling Fatima she would be right back.
The grocery store was absolutely packed. Power was still out, so more people were panicking, even those who didn't carry cash or a checkbook. Paige made her way to the home improvement aisle, grabbing a roll of duct tape and a large tarp. Not paying attention as she scanned the shelves for what else she needed, she accidentally bumped into someone. "Oh, god, I'm so sorry; excuse me," she said, laughing it off as she looked at the man she had bumped into.

‘Sorry, it’s out of habit that my brother and look after people when trouble is around.’ Dean looked over to Paige. ‘Though you are right. This is bigger than what Sam and I are use to. So it’s going to take the whole to get through this. I know it’s not our responsibility. But I also can’t ignore what I’ve been taught to do. And that’s to help those who need it. As for the not dwelling on things I have a remedy for it.’
Dean got up disappearing. He was gone no more than 5 minute when he came back with some cheap liquor. ‘I think a few sips will be ok. We’ve earned it.’ Opening the bottle he took a swig. ‘May not be a good idea. But I can’t go the rest of the night not having one drink with a beautiful woman.’ Handing the drink off to Paige. ‘It’s probably going to be a long night.’

Dean kept his voice low when his attention turned Paige. “Nothing like this. And traveling the country with my brother we have seen and heard a lot of things. It’s all so dumbfounding. Usually when we don’t know what something is we’ll look it up, make some calls to try and figure things out. Yet, whatever this is, is preventing us from actually trying to figure it out to take care of it. It’s like an inch that can’t be scratch and I hate it.” Running a hand through his hair. He got the feeling he can be honest with Paige. That she could handle a little more than the average person they came across. “I also hate that this is such a large group of people stuck in one spot. I can’t help but feel we are going to lose more people because it’ll be harder to protect them. To keep them safe.”
Dean hated feeling so helpless. He wasn’t use to feeling like this, it was all unfamiliar to him and he didn’t know how to handle what he was feeling. Dean has spent most of his life in control and always able to figure things out. To be able to solve things. So now that he was stuck in a grocery store with a bunch of strangers, unable to fall back on what he always had done to solve things. Made him want to bash something’s in at the moment. But he knew all too well that he can’t lose his control with so many people around. It could possibly trigger a hysteria among everyone who were already frightened and on edge.
Wetting his lips. “This is going to probably sound silly. How are you right now?”

Part 3 (re-uploaded because it wouldn’t let me fix the mess ups I just noticed.)
It had been several months since Hotch had been sent out of the country. In between thoughts of Hotch and if he was coming back. You tried to keep busy with hobbies instead of spiraling out like you are so notorious for doing. But that never worked despite how hard you tried.
So when a coworker had convinced you to take a Monday off because she wanted to use a bleated free birthday massage for her plus a friend. She thought you might like a chance to unwind. You took her up on it.
That Tuesday you walked into your office instantly regretting that you took Monday off. There were multiple piles of folders stacked on your desk. You take a deep breath as you hang your stuff up on the coat rack before diving into your work.
When you looked up hours later to see what time it was, a familiar face stood in the doorway. You immediately stopped what you were doing. ‘See you are still spiraling’ Hotch said.
‘I played hooky yesterday which led to a lot of work today. Hence the headspace.’
Grabbing your stuff off the coat rack ‘It’s time to go Y/N. I’ll walk to your car’ He told you.
Moving around your desk. ‘Before we do that this needs to be done’ You wrap your arms around him in a hug. ‘I’m glad you’re back, with a beard no less.’
‘It was nice to have while in Pakistan. I’ll get rid of it soon though.’
‘Too bad. Not many can pull off a beard and clean shaven.’ You complimented him as you guys made your way to the elevator.
Hotch smiled over at you ‘I may have to keep it for a bit’
‘You should. How excited was Jack when you got back?’
‘Very excited. Even more so since I don’t have to leave. I’m back for good this time.”
‘Jack isn’t the only person happy to hear that. Walking to my car hasn’t been the same’ During the walk you asked Hotch about his time in Pakistan and he shared what he could. Though it was easy to share a lot of what you asked about. Since it was mostly about the food, the culture, the people. You were generally interest in that.
Even after reaching your car you both kept talking. You had a lot to catch up on and neither one of you wanted to end things. And being by your car felt like the two of you were in your own little world. Everything else fell away as you two gotten back in the groove of your friendship after being apart for so long.
Hotch’s hands went to his pockets while he was leaning against your car. ‘I really missed these talks’ he admitted.
‘I have as well. I was upset when I heard you had been reassigned. It was hard some days to get out of my head. But I thought to myself what you would do to get me out of my spiral. And sometimes things would snowball when I did that. But it would get me out of my head’
Looking over at you with an arched eyebrow. ‘Snowballed?’ Watching your face redden.
You glanced down at your hands. ‘Ya, I’m not proud of where my thoughts took me.’
‘Oh really?!’
Pushing off your vehicle. ‘You can bait me all you like. I’m not going to tell you. And nothing you can do will make me confess. Night’
Hotch reached out for you, pulling you back to him. ‘I have an idea what might work.’ He pinned you to your car when his lips met yours.

When Dean and Sam made sure that things seemed ok for the moment and that nothing was going to happen anytime soon. They not ied people were finding places to lay their heads. Those who couldn’t sleep were standing guard. They had pent up nervous energy that was difficult to get rid of, thanks to the current situation.
Finding a place for themselves Dean made sure the two were placed so he could see Paige. ‘This is nuts Sam. I have never heard of anything happening that caused a fog that hid a giant octopus thing.’ Dean chugged some of the bottled water he got when it was passed out to people.
Plopping next to his brother. ‘I’ve been trying to rack my brain to remember if dad ever said anything about such a thing. Nothing comes to mind. And since our phones seem to not be working, I can’t check the internet to see what it brings up. Even if we could I don’t see how we’d be able to fight against something so large.’
Dean couldn’t help but think how right his little brother was. Even if they did have answers on how to defeat what was out there. He didn’t know if it was possible. He looked out to the rest of the people stuck in the store. He would bet dollars to donuts they didn’t have anywhere near the fighting skills they had. They grew up hunting things these people only dreamed about. Even if he could get a decent amount of people from this group that could fight. He didn’t want to risk anymore lives if it was possible. These people were going to struggle enough as is to get back to a normal life after all this. He wouldn’t be surprised if this small town has a good portion of its people move away because of this.
‘Listen Sam. I’m sorry about our fight earlier today, in the car. I didn’t mean all the stuff I said….’
‘Dean don’t. Don’t talk like we aren’t going to get out of this alive. We’ve been in tough situations before and got out just fine. This will be no different.’
Sighing deeply. ‘I wanted to clear the air. This isn’t what we’ve normally dealt with. We don’t even know what it is we are dealing with outside. As well as no way to look it up.’
‘I know.’ Sam softly said. ‘I’m sorry too.’ Glancing around at the people. ‘Sleep in shifts?’ He suggested. Dean nodded as he took first watch.

Part Two
You were down a rabbit hole of organizing the files at work. You should have left awhile ago but you couldn’t. You had thought of a better way to have everything. So that its easier for you as well as others to find what they need quicker.
Placing a folder in one of the many cabinets you spin around to see Hotch standing in the doorway ‘In a spiral?’ He softly asked. Knowing all too well that you’ve been working on learning that it’s ok when something isn’t finished. Thanks to a toxic upbringing.
‘I’m almost finished with this. I have a stack that needs to be put away’ You tell him going over to the giant pile sitting on your desk.
Hotch grabbed your jacket and purse hanging on the coat rack by the door. ‘This can wait till Monday’ He tells you while escorting you out of your office.
‘But it’s not finished’ You look back toward your desk.
‘That’s ok.’ He places a hand on the small of your back after handing you your things.
By the time you two reached your car Hotch had you out of your spiral of the paper work you felt needing to be done. ‘Thank you for being amazing and getting me out of the rabbit hole I got myself in. It’s really great of you to do so.’
‘I should be thanking you. I get so wrapped up in work. That the time I spend walking you to your car gets me to stop focusing on that. And I’m able to be there more for Jack.’
Blushing at his confession you respond ‘I guess it was a good thing for both of us that I got lost.’
‘I guess it was.’
Reaching into your purse ‘You have a good night Aaron’
‘Night y/n’ Hotch made sure you were in your car before going to his.
Come Monday your mood matched the gloomy weather when you found out that Hotch was temporarily reassigned to Pakistan. Which meant that you were walking yourself to your car at night. Not to mention you didn’t have the one person that was able to get you of your head

Part One
You’re new at the FBI headquarters. You were hired last week as a filing clerk and was still getting use to your way around the place. You were ask to drop a folder off before leaving. Which would have been fine if you knew your way around the place. You turn down one of the many corners on the floor slamming into someone. “I’m sorry. Are you ok?”
Taking in the tall man with dark hair and memorizing eyes. “I’m fine thank you. I’m just trying to find….” You look at the sticky note on the Manila folder “A Aaron Hotchner’s office to drop this off before going home. But I’m lost and not sure where his office is exactly.”
Smiling at her. “No need to. I’m him.”
“Seriously?” He nodded yes. “What are the odds of that?” Handing it over. “Well you have a good night sir.”
Looking at his watch. “It’s late and I’m on my way out. Why don’t I walk you to your car.” He offered.
“It’s fine, I don’t want to be a bother to you.”
“It’s not a bother at all.” He told you as you two began your walk to the elevators. “I didn’t catch your name by the way.”
“Oh it’s y/n”.
As you two make your way to your car the talk is light. He mentions he has a son named Jack. While you bring up you moved here from Washington after a bad breakup from a ex-fiancé and needed a change.
From there on out anytime that you two were working late. Hotch would take time walk you to your car.

You and Hotch have known each other for a few years thanks to the fact you two live across the hall from each other. On days that he didn’t have his son Jack you would invite Hotch over for dinner. Which eventually led to the two of you casually dating. Neither one of you were in for anything serious with Hotch losing his wife and you fresh from a divorce. The two of you just clicked and enjoyed each other’s company. You were always trying to make him laugh, telling him he took things too serious all the time. So when the team showed up to the restaurant you worked at you couldn’t help but give him a hard time just so you can see the stern face he make when he’s trying not to laugh.

You have been working at the csi crime lab for sometime now. You and Greg were instant friends the moment you two met. People would always joke about the fact you two act like you guys are dating. But it never happened because you two never saw each other that way. Till one day after being super excited about the fact you were asked out by the cute coffee shop guy you blabbed all day to Greg about it. When you stepped out the changing room at work all dolled up for your date you saw Greg waiting for you. Blushing at the way he was looking at you causing a bunch of butterflies in your stomach. That made you realize in that moment things were about to change because you over the time of being there had in fact developed feeling for the man before you

Sam went to check on Paige as a fuming, beyond irritated Dean stomped his way over to Hank. “Are you ok?” Sam asked as he glanced over her to make sure that none of her injuries were in need of care. “How deep are those scratches?”
Dean was seeing red as he approached Hank. “That was what I meant by get back. We don’t know what that thing is out there. Hell we can’t see that creature out there. We don’t know what it’s fully capable of or the exact size of the thing. We could have avoided that kid being slaughtered like a lamb.” Dean could hear himself sounding like his father. Who yelled at him any chance he got when he didn’t follow orders or most of all didn’t protect Sam. He also knew that it was irrational to be yelling at this man. These people didn’t grow up hunting demons and the unbelievable. The stuff people thought weren’t real. He knew this situation was different, him and Sam never had to deal with such a thing. But they were also the best these people had to stay alive. “We need to be rational about all this. And now that we know that this creature not only has tentacles but claws as well. We need to better protect ourselves and be on guard. Because the possibility of it being able to do more is high. Especially since we don’t know how many are out there.” Dean looked around at how shaken everyone was and that they were not covered in blood that was probably a mixture of both the creature and human. Taking a deep breath. “Why don’t we take a moment to clean ourselves off and recollect ourselves. We can regroup in a little bit to discuss what we need to do next.”
