Sonic Retuned

Hey all so this is gonna be my own take on a "Sonic Origins" story, covering his life before the games, the Genesis Titles and into Adventure+Down time in between obviously in multiple parts but I hope you like it.

The first thing Sonic could remember was wind, the feeling of wind blowing though his quills gently, brushing them against each other with a cool contrast to a hot summer day. His eyes looking out on the rolling hills before him, tracking the way they went up and down. The soft breeze making the long grass sway back and forth like it was dancing. Blinking and starting to look around, the young hedgehog noticed how the land before him seemed to carve itself into ramps and loops. Red springs standing out like bright dots, calling to him and he grunted, closing his hands together and feeling his body tense up. Coiling like a spring, he instinctively lowered himself a little before taking the first step and-

“Sonic! What are doing pay attention!” A familiar, kind and warm voice called out to him and he looked over to see his mom there with an exasperated look on her face. Was that common for her? Looking between the natural obstacle course before him and his mom a few times, he itched to take off, to run. He’d be back in a second of course!

“Can I go run? I...I wanna try to do the loop!” Sonic grunted as he heard his voice, well...Heard it as his voice and hummed while rubbing his throat, that felt weird.

“What? Of course not! You have to learn! When you grow up you need to be able to listen when someone’s talking to you.” She berated him before sighing and letting her eyes soften before hugging him gently before grabbing his hand.

“Now come on, we need to get home. But on the way I can tell you some stories...Maybe one about a brave Hedgehog named Perseus and how he saved his mother.” She grinned down at him and Sonic nodded, his mind distracted for a moment and he walked with her happily before his head turned back towards the hill. Only half listening to what she was saying as he felt an urge in him to go run, to see how fast he could go! The hand interlocked in his however, stopped him from doing that. Maybe it was too dangerous anyways, he could fall in one of those deep lakes and drown after all!

As they got farther away from the hill and closer to their tents, Sonic found himself listening more to what his mom was talking about how through careful planning and trickery. Perseus managed to kill Medusa and used her head to slay various monsters...But he just yawned.

“What’s wrong? Are you tuckered out?” Rubbing his eyes in response to his mom he grumbled while trying to think about what was wrong, frowning as he thought hard about it.

“No it’s just...There’s no challenge for Perseus. He just wins all the time.”

“But that’s the story, how you need to be careful and plan things out. To have an easy way to success.” She smiled warmly at the little correction and Sonic frowned again at that while shaking his head.

“That’s boring.”

“It’s not supposed to be fun. Its supposed to be informative.”

Not supposed to be fun? Well that would describe most of Sonic’s early life, traveling with his tribe. Wandering from place to place, never really talking to the people there. Only watching, observing. Writing down things in these really old looking notebooks, each one had its own color and shade according to the continent and area of the world they were in. Still, the curious hedgehog managed to find his joy where he could

You know, I kinda wanna take a few posts to talk about some of my favorite bits of anime and media growing up, how I think that helped shaped my own identity and ideals of masculinity and what man should be as a CisHet Man, what are the lessons I took from them. How a lot of it was Positive, and how I learned to take the good out of these things because I spent a large amount of time in my youth without a Dad(Not Divorced, but he was Deployed for what seemed like was most of my life until I was like 9?). But IDK if that'd really be welcome here.

Gonna get full on unapologetic fan and really lament that Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple isn't more popular and I really wish that it was. Like god damn it's so good. It'd be like if the Dragon Ball Anime stopped the adaptation after King Piccolo, not the 24th Tenkaichi Budokai, but the origonal Piccolo Saga, and used that as the ending. That is how much story we are missing here. That is us missing highlights of so many great moments, seeing a multicultural cast of characters and rivals. That is us not getting to see the Master's really engaging in high level fights the likes of which would be astounding to see and make everyone scream in hype. That is us missing so much story and fun. That is us missing the whole Shao Kano storyline, that is us not seeing the struggle. I know there are OVAs, I know that they cover a bit more but it is FRUSTRATING to know that there is such a rich ass story we are missing.

I find it funny that Poseidon is always striving to try and help Percy whenever he can, and he bends the rules all the time in PJO to help him. So whenever Percy actually prays to him for help with a proper sacrifice or it's in the ocean I imagine that Poseidon is like FINALLY and is giddy he can help out in the open because that's allowed

So can anyone clarify what the actual fuck a deathworld is?? Its a term thats thrown around a lot, and I feel like my autistic ass can't understand the term because well...Earth is the only planet we know of that can support life! Like, yes there are dangerous things about it but all the dangerous stuff actually supports WHY it is able to support life the way it does. How its very active volcanically means that things shift and we keep strong magnetic poles to dispirse deadly radiation and solar winds. How we have giant storms that redistribute heat and water into cycles that we can predict and adapt to. How every single enviornment on earth has SOMETHING adapted to live near it because despite what people think. Earth is VERY hospitable to life. In fact I kind of think that the term "Deathworld" probably sprung up from a bunch of panicked alien scientists or observers who saw the stuff Earth has on it and kind of panicked and labeled it like that without understanding WHY the Earth is so hospitbal to all the different kinds of life that we see. So if anyone can explain to me why this dangerous, but actually very hospitable and comfortable planet for life to thrive on called earth is called a Deathworld, when that should be reserved for places like Venus where things DONT actually live. That would be great

So I don't like saying things are Blank-Coded, because I feel like it is really reductive of a ton of different thoughts and feelings to a narrow set of Stereotypes.

But Paralyzer speaks so deeply to me as an autistic introvert. A song about being uncomfortable in a public club/space noticing a very pretty woman doubting my ability to speak to her while imagining a romance that could happen if I got my damn courage up speaks to me so much.

A part of the mission

So I love Batdad as much as anyone else, and yes it is amusing that he keeps adopting orphans and such but I think we do need to look into WHY he does it and why he feels the need to do it and is so naturally paternal. Its because it an extension of his mission, his compulsion and vow. Remember, that when Bruce experienced his parent's Murder he swore that what happened to him would NEVER happen to anyone else. His creed isnt just a vow to fight crime, its to stop what happened to him from happening to others. Now, while this mostly manifested AS beating up criminals in his early years yes, thats a point. That he got lost in that part of the vow before Dick came along. Then, he realized another part of his vow. To make sure that this boy didn't grow up without a father, without a family to welcome him home, and to make sure he didn't feel as isolated and alone in the world as when it first happened to him. So I belive that Batman became Batdad, and has such a strong compulsion to help children and adopt those in need because t is part of his vow and what he needs to do. To ensure that no boy grows up like he did.

Hey fam, I need some fanfiction recomendations. Specifically, I need a Mortal AU where there is a focus away from the 7. Yes I know that the fandom loves the 7 as a Found Family group, and even if I disagree with the notion its fine. But I want to read a Mortal Percabeth AU that focuses on Percy's Origonal Found family, Camp Half-Blood. I wanna read something where Jason isnt his default best friend, but Grover is. Where I can see him and Clarisse interact in their weird frienemies way and have the Stolls be dumbass pranksters. I havent been in the Fanfiction Loop for a while but does anyone have some long fic recomendations for that?

"Because your my friend, any other stupid questions?" - I feel like this moment really needs to be emphasized, because as much as we talk about how Annabeth had a shitty childhood, has abandonment issues, etc. I feel like we don't talk about Percy's as much because he doesn't really bring it up that much. But its really important to Emphasize that all his life, up until Yancy it has been Percy and his mom VS the world, and for someone who's fatal Flaw is Loyalty, this must have KILLED Percy more than anything else. Not having anyone to really connect to, to live your life giving everything for your friends that you manage to make, only for it to be thrown in your face as you are ratted out, as you are betrayed or you have to move schools again. Percy is a person who THRIVEs when he has a group around him, he is a natural Leader, someone who brings people together, a grounding presense because everyone can trust him. They know that they can trust him because betrayal would never cross his mind. So, imagine how powerful, how impactful it is to Percy when he FINALLY has not one, but two friends that he can throw his whole heart into loving and trusting and they return it with just as much frevor. To assure him that they WONT turn against him, to be on His side no matter what. Grover was the first person that Percy met who clung to him and bonded with him, wanting to be his friend first and foremost. His best friend, the first one who didn't give up on him when it got tough. And now we have Annabeth, the second one, this girl who used to seem to hate you for who your dad was is now assuring you that she would turn against her mom, who she clearly craves approval from because you are friends. Who makes it sound like its the most obvious thing in the world to her. That your the idiot for even bringing up the possiblity that she would turn against you. Imagine how powerful that is to Percy, to finally have your Loyalty Rewarded, to assure you that *NO* your feelings and wants to go to hell and back for those who love you aren't wrong! That you WILL find people who return that love like its second nature to them. To hear some validation for all your efforts in the form of two best friends who will ALWAYS be there for you.

Idea for a dumb AU:Anakin knows that Luke Survived and loves that fact but is STILL on the Dark Side and does horrible shit because he is still made to belive it is his Duty as a Father to eliminate threats to his children, he still has a warped sense of love for the boy, doesnt get involved too much in his life because he doesnt think he is worthy to. But he still makes sure that Luke has a pretty happy life and doesnt want for much, sending over whatever compensation he gets to the family taking care of him. Luke in the end still does his best to bring him over to the light again.

New DC Headcannon! In the DC Universe's Version of the US Government, there is a seperate imigration department specifically for those who are Interdimensional/Interuniversal imigrants, for those who are transported to this world through some of the various Crisis Events, through weird superhero shenanigans and other such events that might cause a Civlian to leave their home earth. From there its all about helping them get settled in this new world, adjusting, having all their basic stuff covered, making sure that medical care in this universe actually can apply to their body. This effort is headed up by and actually helped funded by the JL, with Shazam being one of its main proponents, having oriognally come from a different universe that was intergrated into the main marvel one as a cheeky tongue in cheek joke.
