HAVE YOU SEEN BENNY? (Stolen Dog & Car) . Benny is a black and white Shih Tzu poodle. He wears a black cloth harness with a pink ID tag that is engraved with his name and home phone number. The vehicle is a silver 2000 Honda Civic 4-door, license plate 7JPJ454, with a greenish-colored sticker on the rear bumper. . Loving dog mom @RavenMystere is beside herself. Not only did someone steal her car, her precious pup Benny was inside. This happened in Hollywood on January 19, at Cahuenga Boulevard and Whitley Terrace. René . I don't even know where to begin. My heart sank yesterday when I learned of the passing of Actor René Auberjonois. He was one of the nicest, kindest, sweetest, most unassuming, brilliant and witty men anyone could ever hope to meet, never mind his exceptional talent and professionalism as a performer. If you're unfamiliar with his amazing background and long resume, read his Wiki listing. Even it barely scratches the surface of how much good this man contributed to The Arts and the world. I feel lucky and privileged to have worked with and known him. . As a nonunion and union actress, I've played a lot of uncredited bit parts in mainstream film and TV. They helped pay the bills, while keeping a foot in the door for bigger, better roles. I've been in more David E. Kelley productions than I can recall, thanks to a good reputation with their casting people at the nearby studio. So, I've been on "The Practice," "Boston Legal," "Boston Public," Boston cream pie...Boston everything. That's where I met and came to know René. He was just a doll. . René loved knowing and calling people by name and greeted everyone warmly. He was a voracious reader and, almost always, had a book on set that would appear between takes. If it was an especially good book, he loved talking about it. He dabbled in art and, occasionally, spoke of his projects. And he loved talking about his kids, grandkids and family vacations. I'm not a Trekkie. So, I didn't think of him as an iconic character from a popular series. In fact, I don't think I ever spoke to him (nor Bill Shatner who was also on "The Practice" and "Boston Legal") about "Star Trek" once. I simply saw René as a lovely man and a pleasure with whom to work. And I looked forward to seeing him. . Rest in peace, dear man. Your work is done. Thank you for all you've left us. René's last message, shared 4 days ago from his @reenyohbearjeen Instagram account, was "Life is too short to be lived badly." It's heartfelt advice from a wonderful man who lived life well. Yesterday, I ran across this incomplete caricature I began, decades ago, of my favorite string-puller, Adolph "Harpo" Marx. Although I don't recall with certainty now, I think the style of this drawing might've been inspired by another artist. The eye-to-nose line reminds me somewhat of the hand of Al Hirschfeld. It kind of has a troll doll-like quality about it too. . "Mission Accomplished" Feral Cat Rescue Mother and daughter feral cats Gemma and Maxie had roamed my neighborhood since before 2012. I'd been trying to capture them since last April. Although one of my neighbors had been feeding them regularly, the cats resisted every attempt to give them a home. . When my neighbor tried trapping them, her efforts failed. After selling her home, she enlisted me to resume where she'd left off. Luring the cats wasn't easy; they were very mistrusting. They had no prior experience with me. And I'm allergic to cats! . Enter Nina and Capt. Peter Dabbieri (pictured), founders of Feline Charity, Inc. They told me how to lure the cats and provided the trap. My friend and former neighbor supplied the cats' favorite food. It took more than two months to win Gemma and Maxie's trust. . Several failed attempts and four skunks later, I finally caught the feral strays. I captured them simultaneously in the same trap! Within 15 minutes of phoning The Dabbieris with the good news, Capt. Peter arrived to collect the cats. . Now, Gemma and Maxie reside at @CatmandooRescue Group in Los Angeles. They're receiving love, care, attention and, if possible, a real forever home. "Beachy Keen" Pizza & Shopping with New Friend @TorqueMJ, June 25, 2019 . Last week, I had the great pleasure of meeting and spending time with the wonderful MarGie J., who was in town visiting relatives. She's a true heroine and warrior: a veteran, a cancer survivor, a cyclist, a mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She's devoted to her family; and, although retired now from military service, still holds a position that helps keep others safe. . In the past year, MJ's been exploring her artistic side, signing up for online guitar lessons (the same ones I'm taking) and making beautiful, whimsical, custom keychains. She gave me an electric guitar magnet and one of her handmade keyrings. It's so nice, I'm keeping it as an objet d'arte. . We had an extremely relaxed and enjoyable afternoon, browsing shops and grabbing lunch at @Locale90, an authentic Neapolitan-style Italian café — where our meal was absolutely phenomenal. Great food, great location, great shopping, great company, great fun.... . I definitely need more days like this. Thank you, MJ! Also, it was a pleasure meeting your husband and son. . P.S. "Honk If You're Harpo" Stills From My Personal Collection . Every member of The Masquers Club of Hollywood is required to select a sponsee, a performer whose memory we're dedicated to keeping alive. Since my good friend, Author and Brother Masquer @MichaelF.Blake, beat me to @LonChaneySr, I selected Comedian-Musician Harpo Marx. . I was astounded that he was available. . I've loved Harpo, the second and my favorite of The Marx Brothers, since I was a teen. That's around the time I began collecting old movie stills and publicity photos. Harpo is the reason I own a harp. (I used to own a brass horn like his too, but it fell apart.) In addition, I own recordings of him performing and even one of him speaking. Although Harpo played the silent type on stage and screen, he could talk up a storm. . Harpo was a member of the legendary Algonquin Round Table, due largely to his friendship with Critic and Journalist Alexander Woollcott. . Led by Masquers President and Harlequin William Malin, we recited the modern, revised version of the promise spoken by every Masquer since 1925. .
