Although Blackbeard means this in a positive way, in a patriarchal world (and in Stede Bonnet's world), this is the rejection of the weaker; I'm not like you, with your softness and innocence and naivety. The justification of indulging in "softer" things in a man's world is very prominent as long as it's not forever- because the basis of manliness is self-inflicted loneliness.

Therefore, the reason Stede Bonnet leaves is that he believes Ed will leave anyways, because femininity is a lark, an indulgence, but never a state of being.
