Coffee and Books
pairings: Jason Todd x reader
warning: none !!
summary: Jason Todd finds stops by his favorite cafe, book in hand and one thing in mind. Land a date with the barista who’d caught his eye.
a/n: ive recently finished playing chapter 3 and 4 of deltarune (was able to kill the titan third try aha), i want to drop a new deltarune story since i hardly see any :p. Anyway this story is cross posted on my ao3 !

The corner booth was dimly lit, secluded, and hidden from view. That's what made it Jason's favorite place in the cozy cafe. That and the fact that you worked there.
Jason wasn't an active man, in the sense of the dating scene. In fact, he didn't have the time for it. The man was often preoccupied with his work as Red Hood, killing dirty crooks-although he has slowed down on the killing, mostly after he saw you. Now, he's trying to be a 'better man,' one might say. He wouldn't say that though, actually, if you were to ask him how he felt about you, he'd deny all and any feelings.
So there Jason sat, a black coffee on his right, and his novel on the left.
"The Art of War?" Jason was startled by the voice beside him, usually he was more on guard. He'd let this thoughts consume him recently. Looking up Jason saw you standing there, a small tray held between your palms balancing two coffees and a pastry that the cafe offered.
His throat felt dry before he swallowed, "Yea, Sun Tzu," he replied, closing the book, index finger stopping him from losing the page. "It's my third time rereading it."
You faintly smiled at his admission, "I've noticed, this is the second time I've seen you restarting that book," you let out a small chuckle, adjusting your hold on the tray, "Maybe I should check it out sometime?"
Jason wasn't sure what was happening, although he definitely didn't mind it, "Yea, it's a good past time read." He hummed, offering you a small nod.
Looking around the cafe you could see a few customers that were still in need of their orders. You turned your gaze back on Jason, "Hey I get off in like 30 minutes, if you don't mind sticking around maybe you could tell me what the book's about?" Jason was shocked, he never thought in a million years that you of all people would actually talk to him. He was self-conscious, it wasn't an understatement, he had scars that littered his body. They made him feel lesser, unlikable even.
"Yea, I can wait." He spoke, fiddling with the edge of his book.
Your smile grew at his words, "Great! I need to finish up but I'll be right back." You didn't even give Jason the chance to respond, instead turning around quickly dropping off the orders at their respective tables before getting back to work.
He watched you for a moment longer before turning his head forward again. Glancing at his reflection in the black coffee, he was still stunned.
Jason could not wait for these 30 minutes to pass by. His mind was being gnawed at by the fact you'd asked him to wait for you.
The ticking of the clock within the cafe was almost taunting him, each movement felt slower then the next. Jason felt himself rehearsing what he'd say (as dumb as that may have been). This was his chance and like hell he'd mess it up.
By the time the 30 minutes had passed Jason was able to make a whole speech, mostly a nerdy rant about how 'The Art of War' was a literary masterpiece, the premises wasn't actually about war, instead it was about knowing how to fight without direct contact. Like phycological warfare and strategic thinking. Something Jason was actively trying to incorporate into his vigilante life as Red Hood.
Unfortunately the moment you sat down across from him, everything he had previously thought about was thrown out the window. Your work apron was neatly tucked into your bag, now you adorned your usual after work outfit.
"So," You happily chirped, leaning your head against the palm of your hand, "tell me, what's so good about that book that makes you want to reread it three times."
Jason, as tense as he was from the situation, couldn't help the small chuckle that escape his throat. He could see the smile you were trying to hide, it made him melt even more.
Oh, he was smitten.
"It takes a bit to explain, plus I'm not one for spoiling the plot." He hummed, leaning back into the booth. Jason crossed his arms over his broad chest, head thrown back a bit in a comfortable position. Then an idea popped into his head, "If you're really curious why don't you borrow my book, you can give it a quick read," he paused, trying to gauge your reaction to the offer before continuing, "if it isn't something you find interesting you can give it back, but if you like it then read it all. After we can discuss it over a coffee." This was the most confident he'd been in a while but hey, if pretty barista crush was talking to him- sitting across from him, so dammit if he wasn't going to take this chance.
It seemed to work because before Jason could feel regret for his words you'd began to slowly nod, your smile growing wider. "Sounds good."
Jason let out a small grunt of approval at your words, 'Sounds good,' you just agreed to a date (Was it even a date? He'd have to check back in on that later) with him. With that Jason slid the book across the table, letting it rest in front of you. Picking it up, you carefully skimmed some pages, trying not to bend any of the pages or the spine of the book.
"It looks interesting, I'll start it tonight." Looking up at him made you breath hitch slightly, his eyes were piercing into you. You could almost feel yourself getting lost in them.
You wanted to say something else but he was making it hard to, frankly though, you didn't mind. They were mesmerizing.
Jason didn't notice the way he'd stopped you in your tracks, because he was thinking about you'd stopped him. He couldn't think straight, he stared at you.
Perfect, he didn't use that word lightly, because to him, everything and anything in Gotham was rough, cold, and devoid of life. Everything but you. You were bright and he was starstruck. He couldn't believe you were really sitting here across from him, his book delicately held in your hand.
"If you want," he started, snapping your attention back, "we could meet up during the week, where ever is most convenient for you, and read together."
The pitter patter of the evening Gotham rain began to smack against the glass window beside you, but the gloomy weather could not be a farther image of what you were currently feeling like. "Yea, I'd really like that." Noticing how late it was getting, you knew you'd need to get home soon, before the rain turned into a downpour. "I need to go, but, uh," you looked around the table before grabbing a napkin from the dispenser beside you both, and quickly jotting down your number on it. Sliding it across the table and handing it to him.
"Here!" You nodded, urging him to take it, which he did not hesitate to do. "So we can plan what days to go out and in case you wanted to just call."
Jason looked at your number, memorizing each part of it because he would not let his opportunity pass him by, "It's a date then." The word slipped by his tongue before he had the chance to think it through. He quickly looked up, trying to see how you'd react. Instead of a sour look he was greeted by a hardly concealed smile.
"Yea, it is." You agreed. Looking out the window, the rain had gotten heavier, "I should go before the downpour gets worse." Quickly gathering your stuff, you stood, regretting your decision of not bringing a jacket to work today.
Before you were able to leave Jason stopped you, "Hey," he began to take off his jacket, it was a nice brown leather jacket, it looked a bit worn out but none the less very comfortable. "here, so you don't get too wet." His hand was out stretched, offering you the crisp leather.
"What about you?" Taking his jacket in this weather felt wrong. but Jason looked sure in his decision.
"Don't worry, I'm more worried about you." He held it out a bit more to you, urging you to put it on. Taking a minute you looked between him and the jacket, he opened his mouth once more, "Plus, this ensures that I'll text you, since we'll need to meet up again for you to give me my jacket later on." Jason truly did have an excuse for everything he did.
A small chuckled escaped your lips before you grabbed the jacket, putting it on over your afterwork outfit. "I'll hold you to that." You smirked, giving him a small wave and quickly exiting the cafe, disappearing into the Gotham evening. Now adorning Jason's jacket as well as his book.
Carefully, Jason tucked your number into his pocket. He wasn't just going to text you later he was also planning on putting on his Red Hood attire to ensure you made it home safely tonight. Not in a stalker way- kinda.
He got up as well, exiting the cafe, rain hitting his face as he walked into a nearby alley. His night was just starting, Red Hood never rested, but tonight he'd feel a little lighter.

Bloodied Roses
pairings: Jason Todd x Reader
warnings: bittersweet, hurt/no comfort, very quick mention of drug addiction, heavy angst
summary: Jason Todd finds a cute florist whom he can't have because he's rough, calloused and doesn't believe he can be loved in such a delicate way
a/n: this is cross-posted from my ao3 !! jason todd nation how we feeling!? someone give this poor boy some love. also i picked up invincible again so possible new fandom to add to the fandom list?
Jason shifted awkwardly in the middle of the shop. He stood out like a sore thumb, he knew he didn't belong here. Then again, he didn't care.
If you asked him about flowers, he'd scoff, saying he doesn't care for that sort of thing. But now, as he stands before you, the flower behind your ear, he'd say they were the second most beautiful thing his eyes have ever seen. Second because only you could take first. He didn't know when he became so smitten. Maybe it was when he was patrolling, adorning his Red Hood helmet, he was hidden on a rooftop, only passing by, trying to get across Gotham to the docks. In hopes of stopping a drug deal that was said to happen that night.
As he jumped across the roof, his peripherals caught the sight of you. For a second he almost lost his footing, you looked like an angel. The moonlight casted a glow against your back, as the light of the shop illuminated you.
For a moment, it felt like time had stopped, but then Jason remembered it didn't, because time never stops in Gotham. So, he pushed the image of you aside and continued his journey to the docks. And as he fought, as he fist, his boots, his clothes, got bloodied, his mind swirled. It swirled, because for the first time in years, Jason could feel the way his heart got lighter.
That's why he stood here now -after about thirty minutes of walking past your shop because he was scared of messing this up- he stood in front of you, careful not to touch the flowers, or even get too close; because they're too important for him to taint with his dirty hands.
"So, anything in particular you're looking for?" You asked him, a small smile on your face. Jason could almost melt, he saw the way your hands moved to delicately touch the stem of one of the many flowers on the counter.
He cleared his throat, he stood straight, he looked so intimidating compared to you, he was tall, built, and almost nervous. Almost.
His eyes scanned yours, "Just something for my brother," he lied through his teeth. He wasn't planning on giving anything to Dick, but he couldn't outright tell you that the only reason he entered this shop was to be close to you.
A small hum of acknowledgement escaped your lips, "Do you know if he has a favorite flower, or color?"
"Blue."
Jason regretted the words as soon as they left his lips, his tone was rough. But he knew it was the nerves, even if he'd never admit to it.
"He likes blue," Jason quickly corrected himself, his words coming out softer. God, he could feel the way his shoulders relaxed as you smiled at him. Honestly, Jason wasn't even sure Dick's favorite color was blue, he just assumed it was because of his costume being black and blue. But then again, he wasn't ever going to give Dick the flowers, that was the thing, Jason was lying.
He didn't exactly need to lie, but it felt nice. In here, he didn't have to let you know about his life, what he does, or who he is. No, in here, he is Jason Todd, a normal citizen buying some flowers for his brother's birthday. That's all.
You quickly walked to the side, picking up a small vase, it was cute, you were cute. He watched as you grabbed a pair pruning shears, carefully cutting the stems of some poppies, hydrangeas, breaded iris, and lastly a batch of baby's breath. His eyes never leaving you, like he was memorizing each movement.
Carefully, you laid the flowers on the counter in front of you. For a moment, your gaze met his and he could feel the way his cheeks burned. He looked down, instead getting an idea of the kind of flowers you were gathering.
You couldn't help but smile at his nervous demeanor, "Do you buy flowers often?" You asked him, looking back down at the flowers, gently moving the vase, making room as you grabbed the floral foam to coat the bottom. A way of ensuring the flowers would last longer.
Jason's eyes snapped up again at your words, crossing his arms over his broad chest as he watched you work, "No," he paused, studying you. "I've never bought flowers before." He calmly stated.
He never had a reason, a person, to buy flowers for. As a child, he didn't have the money to waste on something like flowers, they were too expensive and his mother would always prefer to use their extra cash on drugs. Quickly he pushed those thoughts aside, because he didn't want to think of something so bitter, when you were right there.
At his statement, you nodded slightly, "Well, I hope these meet your expectations." You chuckled lightly, hands now moving to place each flower in the vase individually.
The sound of your laugh was sweet, Jason felt himself resisting the urge to melt at it. He felt his lips twitch upwards at your words, "They already do,"
He watched as your head tilted up to look at him, and this time, he didn't avoid your gaze. He held it, he didn't regret that choice. Your eyes were perfect, you were perfect. And here he was, anything but.
This time, you were the one who broke eye contact. Looking back down as you carefully placed each flower in a specific area. Your eyes softened for a moment, unsure what it was about the man before you, but you couldn't help the way your chest got warm as he spoke.
You got a ribbon from under the counter, it was white, and you handled it with care. That was something Jason couldn't help but notice; everything you did, it was always gentle, from the way you cut the flowers, almost like you felt sorry, to the way you moved items around. It was another reason he deemed you too good for him. Jason was not gentle, he was rough, and worst of all broken.
He watched the way you tied the ribbon around the flowers, bringing them all together.
Dusting your hands on your apron, you looked back at him, "What do you think?"
"Perfect," He spoke softly, but he wasn't looking at the flowers. His eyes were only on you. They would always be on you, "How much do I owe you?" He took out his wallet.
Frankly, he didn't care about the price, he had money to spare. That was never a problem for him. As you told him the amount, he pulled out almost two times what you said, handing you the cash.
"This is too much," You counted the money in your hand.
Jason shrugged, "Keep it, consider it a thanks," A thank you for being able to silence the never ending voices that would ring in his head, even if he'd never openly tell you that.
You wanted to interrupt, tell him this was too much of a thanks but Jason silenced you, "Seriously, thank you." He smiled, not a small twitch of the lips, or some type of quick thing. He smiled, only for you.
A small huff left your lips, you couldn't help but shake your head at his strange antics, putting the money in the register. Slowly the receipt printed, and before you handed it to him, you scribbled something on the back.
"Thanks," You held the paper out to him, "for stopping by."
Jason took the flower filled vase and receipt from your hands, giving you a small nod as he muttered a goodbye. Not looking back.
"Hey," You called out, Jason paused for a moment, "What's your name?" You asked him, your elbow on the counter, your head in your hand.
"Jason," He spoke, and if you listened closely enough, you'd hear the sadness in his voice.
You hummed, telling him your name as well. Slowly, he began to walk away again.
The bell of the shop rang once, signaling his departure. He held the flowers close to his chest. His hands were calloused, a showing of his dangerous life. A life he realized, no matter how selfish he wanted to be, he could not drag you into. His other hand held the receipt, he turned it over to see what you wrote, 'Nice meeting you :)'
Jason felt the way his chest tightened, and he saw the numbers below it. Your number. He read the first three before he stopped himself. He couldn't drag you down with him. So instead of finishing reading your number, which he knew he'd memorize if he continued to read. He crumpled the paper beneath his hand. Tossing it into a nearby dumpster.
He went home that night, flowers beside his bed. The one thing he promised himself to take care of, something that he'd watch grow and blossom. Unlike the love he refused to let himself feel because he cared about the cute florist who deserved better than someone who's hand's bloodied the flowers of the flower shop.

When You're Gone
pairings: Thunderbolts* x teen!reader
warnings: major spoilers, reader has powers, reader has a form of ptsd from the events of endgame, slighttt survivors guilt, mentions of suicide/committing (in the void), angst but it turns into found family, honestly pretty long fic (3k+ words)
summary: being the youngest ex-avenger was weird, it's even weirder being grouped up with a bunch of misfits to save new york and take down the director of the cia
a/n: just watched thunderbolts and gawdddd, because the timeline in the mcu no longer matches our timeline, i imagine reader is in their late teens, early 20's, but no age is mentioned, so go wild. this is a very heavy topic to write and i'm not taking it lightly, the only mention of any type of self harm is when reader is in the void so please take that into account, love you all (this is cross posted on my ao3, Maaaak95, my only acc ty)
New York was never peaceful, maybe that's why it was called the city that never sleeps.
Leaving New York was something you'd considered for a while, it was crime ridden, constantly under attack by aliens, in need of every hero it could get. That's actually why you chose to stay.
Somewhere in that brain of yours, it was engraved, by Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, everyone you'd once fought with to save the world. It was engraved in you, that if you had the means, you had to fight, because who will protect the little guy?
So, there you stayed, but moments like this made you, slightly, regret your choice.
"How did you even get this number?!" Your expression was exasperated, to say the least. Bucky Barnes- pardon, Congressman, Bucky Barnes, was on the other end of the line.
Somehow he'd gotten your number, most likely from Sam at some point, and was telling you to suit up.
As if you haven't already been suited up daily, protecting New York from minor threats. Which was strange, considering only four years ago, you'd gone against Thanos.
It was weird, going from fighting against a God-like being, to stopping a petty thief from holding a gun against your favorite corner store clerk.
A grumble came from the other end of the phone, Bucky sounded tired, then again he always sounded tired, at least you assumed so from the brief meetings the two of you have had.
"Doesn't matter, listen," He paused, you swore you could hear some weird chattering in the back, "I'm going to be in New York in a few hours, be ready to fight."
"You?"
"No," That was disappointing, it would've been fun to fight him.
"Aw."
"Don't 'aw' me, this is serious, I know you patrol the area. I need, help, with a problem." He slightly hesitated when he asked for help. Bucky was a capable man, that much you knew, if he needed help then this must've been important.
You let out a small sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose, "Okay.. just text me when you arrive, I'll be ready."
With that you hung up, quickly changing the new number that was in your phone to 'Bucky Barnes'. Welp, now you had the number of another person from your unpleasant past.
It wasn't that you hated being an Avenger, hell, you technically never became one. You were just destined to become one. But that day never came.
Gifted, blessed, abnormal, savior. Words needlessly passed around during your childhood, all because of the strange power you possessed. A form of light manipulation. It wasn't overpowered, it was cool though.
Being able to create forms of light, alter it, change the trajectory, even make beams that harnessed the heat of the light. Something better than nothing, something that caught the eye of the infamous Tony Stark.
You never exactly got time to bond with them all, well, you were a kid when you accidentally demonstrated your powers in a public setting. The ol' parents weren't fond of that, so when Tony decided to help, seeing you as a future Avenger, they didn't pass up the opportunity to essentially hand you off.
You trained a bit, met some cool people, had a family for a short while, then they split, then they lost half the population, brought it back, half died, half survived. And for a while, you were alone again.
Some of the remaining Avengers checked in, hardly, but maybe it was the effort that counted?
An hour or so had passed before you got your next text, Bucky was finally in the city. He asked you to meet him by.. the old Avengers tower? You lived there only for a brief time. Hardly a few months, because after what happened between Stark and Rogers, Tony couldn't bear to continue to keep the tower.
You don't remember it very well, you were young and still getting used to being trained by hero's.
Shaking your head, you left, making the quick trip to the old tower.
There seemed to be soldiers inside, so you waited. Not for long of course, when suddenly a truck crashed right through the doors of the building.
Pushing yourself off the wall you quickly entered, seeing the man of the hour himself.
"Bucky?" Your voice cut through the commotion, the older man turned. His body now facing you.
He gave a curt nod, "Hey there, kid, no time no see."
You couldn't help but let out a snort at his words, even if you were never close to him, God it felt good to talk to someone with some kind of connection to who you used to be.
"Time hasn't been kind to you, Barnes, you look tired,"
He smirked, through all the stress it was nice to see the kid he once fought next to, grown, still seemingly protecting the people. Before he could respond a voice cut through the speaker of the lobby, a woman who you didn't know spoke.
Something about her having left the door unlocked for them. Whatever, the doors were broken now anyway.
With that, the group headed to the elevator, Bucky ushered everyone in.
You stepped in, looking at the group.
The elevator started its awkward ascent, "Hello there," A woman with a Russian accent spoke, "You must be the person Barnes was calling earlier." She stated, looking you up and down.
"Oh yea, that was me." You gave a small nod, leaning against the railing, offering your name.
"Ahh," The Russian woman said with a nod, "Yelena," She pointed to herself, then the man next to Bucky, "John Walker, Ava Starr, Alexei."
Just as she finished, Alexei interrupted, "You are quite young!" It sounded more like a statement than a question, "Why does the Soldier bring you along, little one?"
"He's not wrong, you look pretty young." Ava chimes before you can answer.
You sigh, not really wanting to divulge into the details, "I'm someone from his past,"
"That's not vague at all," John rolls his eyes, gripping his shield tightly.
Bucky gives him a small glare, you're unsure if it's on your behalf or there is some unsolved beef between the two, "It's almost like that was the idea!" You said with a sarcastic tone, "I'm just someone with certain capabilities, let's leave it there."
"Ah ah! Now I remember where I've heard of you!" Yelena smiles, not a real smile, more of a know it all grin, "You were one of those heroes who fought against Thanos, no?" She asks, causing everyone else to look either at Bucky or you.
You internally groaned at that, "Yea.. yea I fought against Thanos." Geez, was it just you or was this the longest elevator ride you've ever been on. Curse Tony for making his old building so tall.
"We both did, she's an old friend, and she's here to help, so don't antagonize her." Bucky told everyone, but it looked like he was looking mostly at Alexei and John.
Of course, Alexei didn't pay attention to Bucky, instead he put a hand on his belly while he laughed. He kinda looked like Santa, in a weird Russian way.
"Yes!" He pumped his fist into the air, "Now, we are a real team! The Thunderbolts will be unstoppable!" He exclaimed proudly, Yelena lowered her face into her hands in slight embarrassment.
"Oh my god, do not get started on this again."
You raised a confused brow, "What's the Thunderbolts?" You asked.
"Yelena's old soccer team! The West Chesapeake Bay Thunderbolts!"
Yelena just groaned loudly, "Okay, dad, we get it."
A small chuckle escaped your lips, it was nice, the dynamic at least. You'd been alone ever since the events with Thanos ended, so being able to be part of a team, even if for a fleeting moment was, homey.
All moments end though, and this one would end sooner than later, because once those elevator doors opened, everything became a quick blur.
It all went wrong pretty quick.
There was a moment that Yelena paused, as a man named Bob, -well apparently Sentry- descended the staircase. He had blonde hair and a strange yellow suit.
Ava commented on his hair, and he seemed more self aware after that. In the blink of an eye, everyone attacked. Or, at least tried.
He was so strong, for a moment you felt scared. Not because of the fact this guy could probably kill you with a flick of the wrist, but because he reminded you of that damn purple giant, the one who took away the future you could've had.
It felt like Thanos all over again, as dumb as it sounded. You saw Tony's body, you remember hearing what happened to Nat, remember the feeling of standing there as Steve explained on that bench that he lived a full life in the past.
You couldn't hesitate though, quickly using your powers to try and blind Sentry giving Bucky an opening to attack.
It was pointless.
He made quick work of you six, tossing you aside like a rag doll. Not even your powers, which were the only thing you had left worked. No matter how many beams you used, the deflected, in fact, they hit you. Pushing you back against the wall.
You spit out some blood, trying to get up, but Ava put her hand on your shoulder, shaking her head.
Both of you looked at the rest of the group, each one beaten and bruised. John's shield was bent in half, this guy means business.
Bucky was the last one standing, he tried to land a punch but Sentry discarded him with ease. He ripped off his arm, knocking him out with it and tossing, along with Bucky next to you.
Your eyes widened as Ava grabbed your shoulder, along with Bucky's arm, pulling you with her towards the elevator.
Alexei and John quickly grabbed Bucky, Yelena scurried up as well, joining you and everyone else.
The ride down was tense, your breathing felt heavy, your hands clutched to your chest. You've dealt with terrible things, maybe worse? You couldn't tell at the moment, it all felt like it was crashing down on you.
Turning to the side, you saw everyone else. Everyone was utterly defeated, John was trying to fix his shield. Alexei was quiet, for once. Ava still had a small reassuring hand on your shoulder. Yelena stared at the elevator door and Bucky was leaning against the wall with the assistance of Yelena.
There was a clear contrast from how you entered to how you left.
The elevator, that was filled with noise no longer than ten minutes ago, was now eerily still.
The ding let everyone know they'd reached the bottom, slowly making their way to the front of the building.
Ava finally let go of your shoulder, handing Bucky his arm.
There was talking but you weren't listening, the last time you felt defeated, a stupid purple man with a gauntlet had blipped half the universe away.
This wasn't the same, that was something you had to remind yourself of. You were not going to lose anyone else anymore. No, no, this was a corrupt CIA director using a man as a human experiment. Not the end of the world.
The feeling of someone's hand tapping your arm snapped you out of your daze.
Glancing towards the person, you saw Bucky, his arms crossed over his chest, a brow raised, "Kid, you okay?" Bucky was no idiot, he knew the signs of PTSD, the fear, anxiety. It was so plainly rolling off of you in waves.
You wanted to run away, scream, go back to that warm place you called home. But home wasn't a place, it was a fleeting memory. One that grew more blurred as the days passed by.
When you first met the Avengers, Tony brought you in, showed you around, then you met them all. Tony told you to 'put on a lightshow', honestly, it was stupid. A lightshow? Really? But you listened, because you were a kid who didn't know better.
It was a fun first day, you felt like you belonged somewhere.
"No," You shook your head as you responded to Bucky. He didn't push though, he could see in your eyes.
Instead he offered you a nod, patting your shoulder, "Okay." Bucky didn't know how to comfort people, at least not anymore. Maybe before the war, before his Winter Soldier days.
It was enough though, even if for a moment. He opened his mouth to speak, when suddenly you both noticed the way everyone had paused, looking up at the sky.
A shadowy figure floated above New York, you saw the helicopters closing in on it. But they began to spiral out of control, crashing into nearby buildings, causing debris to fall.
Neither Bucky, nor you wasted time, jumping into action. And it seemed you two weren't the only ones thinking that you saw them. The rest of the Thunderbolts jumped into action, helping protect people.
You saw a father running with his son in his arms, when a piece of cement made its way down, it was going to kill them.
Quickly you ran, raising your arms. Hands trained on the failing debris, a faint glow emitted, when suddenly it blasted, hitting the cemented building. It shattered, only smaller rubble fell, the bigger chunks luckily pushed to the side.
The man didn't stop running, but you could hear his grateful sobs as he held his son tightly against his chest.
You returned to the group, making sure everything was okay, when suddenly everyone clapped. Alexei looked ecstatic at that, his grin was proud.
It fell pretty quickly, as he saw a little girl standing right below another piece of the falling building, he rushed over to her. Using his body as a shield he saved the girls life.
At least he thought he did.
The girl became a shadow before your eyes. New York wasn't saved yet, as quickly as it became a rescue mission, it turned into an evacuation order.
You all ushered everyone inside nearby buildings, everyone but Yelena. Who stood before the void.
No one noticed before it was too late. Alexei yelled, both Bucky and John held him back. It wasn't two men holding back a Russian super soldier, no, it was two super soldiers holding back a father.
God, it was hard to watch, the remaining group rushed into an alleyway.
Ava proposed the idea of entering the void, to you, it sounded like a death wish. No one knew what was on the other side.
Actually, that was a lie.
Apparently John Walker knew. Of course he knew, he mentioned what happened when he first met Bob, the interaction that happened when he grabbed his hand.
It gave a vague idea that the void was a place where you relived your worst memories.
And if you wanted to save Yelena, and Bob. Then, dammit, you'd have to.
You all looked at each other, nodding, ready to let the void take you all.
Bucky gave you a quick glance, his expression held guilt, in the midst of trying to take down Valentina, he'd forgotten that he'd dragged you into this mess. To him, you were just a kid, no matter how old you were.
A kid who was raised with the idea that they had to be a hero, it was noble. Stupid, that's also what he thought it was.
He couldn't think about it for long though, because within a matter of seconds, the void had swallowed you all whole.
The Void either wanted to start off strong or you had a pristine line up of terrible memories to choose from.
The first thing you saw was you, standing next to an overflowing bathtub.
You could feel the wince you let out at the sight. This wasn't long after the battle with Thanos, when things were getting harder to deal with.
When the thoughts of how Tony should still be alive with his family, how Nat should've been at the Barton's annual Christmas party.
You tried to grab onto the past version that stood in front of the tub, but you couldn’t.
That person turned around, grabbing at your wrists and threw you against the wall with a hard crack.
Looking up you saw the same image again, it was repeating. This time you didn’t intervene. Instead you watched.
You knew you wouldn’t do anything, you were still here.
This past version of you fell to their knees. The tile floor was cold, and wet.
Instead of getting in, you only dunked in your head, screaming into the water.
A glimpse in the mirror caught your attention, it looked like, Yelena?
You quickly punched the bathroom mirror, shattering it and feeling how it sucked you into another memory.
One where you couldn’t save everyone.
This was a fairly recent memory, that’s why it felt more vivid, at least in your opinion.
New York was a big place, and even if you knew there were other heroes who could help, they also couldn’t be everywhere.
You had stopped a mugging, but not fast enough, not carefully enough. Someone had been shot.
You were careless and stupid and slow. Everything you thought you were taught not to be.
The paramedics were on the scene, your arms had blood, the woman’s blood.
She looked old enough to possible be a mother, maybe she had a partner at home, she was someone’s daughter, aunt, neighbor. And you let her die.
Maybe it would’ve been better if you took the bullet, because at least you wouldn’t have anyone truly worried about you.
The memory replayed, this time, you stepped in front of the gun, trying to save her.
But the trigger never went off, instead, she pushed you away, her face was sad, her frown killed you. Then she was killed.
The memory kept going on over and over, and for a moment, you were somewhere terrible.
You were in front of Tony Starks body, his side was burnt and he looked weak. There was a body in front of him.
You didn’t recognize him though, his face was almost blurred. He spoke the words over and over again , ‘Mr Stark, we did it,’ it was painful to hear.
Then, there she was again, Yelena, being strangled with Bob beside her.
You gritted your teeth. Forget these memories. They hurt like hell, but you had somehow prevailed, each time growing stronger because for some reason, you felt that this was your purpose.
You were still alive because you needed to help people, help them, help Yelena.
Within the blink of an eye you were in the same room as her, along with the rest of the Thunderbolts.
Each one looked confused, and slightly worried for the entire group.
You saw Bucky again, “You look like shit, Barnes,” You let out a shaky, relieved exhale.
“Well, you know my life was pretty good so no bad memories.” He joked, trying to lighten the mood. It wasn’t the best joke to make, but you smiled at the effort.
Ava also seemed to notice you, she had seemingly taken a liking to the youngest ex-Avenger, maybe because she knew the burdens of having powers growing up. Even if her experience was different.
With everyone back together, you all needed a plan of escape. Thankfully, Bob seemed more than ready to try and fight back against The Void.
Everyone began to rush through Bob’s memories, most were sad to see. Just from the small snippets, you could gather that his father was abusive, he was an addict, and he had some mental health issues.
Although it was funny to see Bucky punch a giant chicken.
Finally you all arrived at the last room, “I’ve been here before,” Yelena spoke, her eyes darting around.
In the middle of the room stood Void. His eyes held a faint glow and it was making you more nervous by the second.
Just as everyone got ready to charge, he lifted his hand, and pieces of metal had bound everyone against the walls.
John got it worst of all, his shoulder was impaled, he was stuck against the wall like that.
You tried to kick, get out of the metal bounds, but if three super soldiers couldn’t get out, you doubted you’d be able to.
Then they fought, Bob and his darker half.
The Void was taunting him,
“You thought you were gonna be some great man?” Void had kicked Bob to the ground, he stood tall. He paused before he continued again, “Some savior? You can’t even save yourself,”
Bob got up this time, but Void quickly put him down again, “We will always be alone.”
His words were painful, but Bob stood, and charged at him. Tackling him to the ground.
Yelena was struggling to breath a bit, Void had tied something around her neck, trying to egg Bob on, make him angry, accept the dark part of him.
He kept punching, over, and over.
Beating Void, but that was what he wanted. The shadows began to consume Bob, “Stop, Bob, stop it!” Yelena yelled, trying to get free.
Alexei used all his strength, lifting the metal off them enough to get Yelena out of the binds.
She ran as fast as she could to Bob, hugging him, “You’re not alone” she whispered.
And his punches slowed, but not enough, not yet.
Quickly the rest of you were able to get free, running over as well, all of you wrapped around Bob. As the Void lost.
You returned, all of you.
The shadow that engulfed New York began to retract itself.
Unfortunately Valentina was able to use this to her advantage. Debuting you six as the New Avengers.
Alexei actually thought AvengerZ was better.
It didn’t matter though, because at least this way you could keep that evil woman in check, and you kinda got a new family out of it.
For once in a long time, everything felt okay, you were going to be okay.
14 months had passed since then, you all lived in a new Compound together as a family. You still wonder what the old Avengers would’ve thought of you now.
Maybe they’d be proud, that you continued on, despite the pain. Or would’ve hated the idea of a new team of Avengers.
“Sam’s suing us for use of the Avengers name,” Bucky let out a low sigh, sitting down on the couch beside you.
A small laugh left you, before you stopped and realized his serious expression, “Wait, he can do that?”
Alexei laughed, as he still tried to sell Yelena and John on his new, ‘AvengerZ’ team sweaters.
Bucky walked over to Yelena, getting more info on the supposed unidentified ship nearing Earth.
Alexei gave you one of the sweaters as he argued with John about supposedly using Bob as some kind of rocket to launch them all into space. Safe to say Bob wasn’t amused.
“That sweater looks dumb,” Ava smiles at you, taking Bucky’s empty seat beside you.
“Really? I think it’s growing on me.”
She just rolled her eyes at your words, “Don’t let Alexei hear, it’ll get to his head.”
With that, Ava gave you a light pat on the head.
This was nice, you were happy, even if your team was going through legal issues and was a weird set of characters. You wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Life with the New Avengers(Z) wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Hello
I would like to request a shadow x teen reader where the reader is naturally cold and is a deep sleeper so when shadow goes to see her or wake her up she gives him quite the scare
Nap Time
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x teen!reader (platonic)
warnings: Shadow slightly panicking
summary: Shadow finds you asleep but can't seem to wake you, the worst case scenario comes to mind
a/n: kinda short sorry, also if i did a valentines day special who would you guys want?
Cold, your body felt cold and still. It was unnerving, and Shadow didn't like it one bit. He'd walked in on you 'asleep' at least that'd what he wanted to assume. Earlier you'd told Shadow you'd be taking a short nap. That was 5 hours ago, and he hadn't heard from you since. He walked into your room, he saw the bed; it was unmoving and eerily cold.
He walked over to where you laid, his eyes scanning your face to see if you were breathing but he couldn't tell. He felt his heart beat spike as he watched you. Slowly he reached out a gloved hand, his small paw lingering over your arm before he put it down to rest on it. You were freezing and so, so, still.
Shadow felt his stomach drop as he stood still but your side. His other hand coming up to grab onto your arm, trying to shake you a bit, yet you continued to lay there not even a muscle moving. He felt his breathing become heavier, he hated what his thoughts were telling him. The mind was a powerful thing and currently his was telling him terrible thoughts, that your nap may have led to his worst fear.
"Wake up," His voice was steady but there was a slight pleading to it. You didn't react, he just shook harder trying to wake you up. Looking at you lay there was oddly reminiscent of a scene he'd witnessed before, one that he never wanted to happen again.
Shadow didn't let up, shaking you even harder, it was the only thing he knew what to do in the moment. After a decent amount of shaking a small groan escaped your lips. Slowly you rubbed your eyes and sat up, glancing over at the hedgehog through squinted eyes, "Shads?" You asked him as you slowly blinked, taking in your surroundings.
He felt a small sigh escape his lips, tension leaving his shoulders as he watched you sit up. Shadow let his hands fall from your arm back at his sides as he stood at your bedside, his eyes never leaving your form. Worried that if he did you might still be laying down.
"What happened?" It was clear to tell he was disheveled, his quills look like they'd been on their end, which would've been funny if you weren't worried about him.
As you leaned against the back of your bed frame, adjusting your position Shadow opened his mouth to speak, taking a second to form the words, "You're a deep sleeper," a quiet mumble was his response.
You raised a brow as you watched him, "I guess so?" pausing to give him a moment, "I'm just tired," you shrugged, sighing a bit and patting the top of his quills.
He let you be affectionate, not asking you to stop, instead keeping quiet. It was his way of embracing the affection you gave, "It was unnerving," he grumbled as he gave you a dark look, although it was easy to tell he wasn't upset.
Your hand fell from his head and you let out a airy chuckle, "Sorry bud, I'll warn you next time"
Shadow didn't say anything, he just nodded but he was happy to hear that you'd let him know. He could tell his little heart wouldn't be able to handle another scare like that.

REQUEST RULES
i don't feel comfortable writing things such as smut (for now), extreme or heavy gore, yandere themes, non con, anything problematic.
requests are on the main masterlist and are open when stated, i don't mind getting sent requests when it's closed but know those will be put aside until it's opened again.
when you send in a request please be patient, writing is just a hobby of mine so sometimes i'll take a bit to get through everything.
GUIDELINES
please don't make any racist or homophobic or any type of derogatory comments, this is a safe space for people who just want to read.
this blog is a multi-fandom blog and i tend to jump around hyper fixations so there will be lots of different fics as times goes on.

Hi! How are you? I was looking for people writing movie shadow after I saw the movie and hoped I could submit a request for you? Can we maybe have shadow with a reader who is a alien hedgehog like him found after him? Shadow when he met the reader takes her in as his own and helps to in a way raise them. After the accident they both were put under statis and met up again in the base 50 years later after he and she had escaped?
Remember Me
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x Hedgehog!reader (platonic)
warnings: spoilers
summary: Shadow takes it upon himself to look out for you even after being frozen for 50 years
a/n: slowly getting back into the writing groove yes!! if i wrote things for other fandoms would you guys burn me at the stake or not❤️
Shadow was used to feeling alone, being the only alien hedgehog constantly surrounded by scientists who saw him as some type of experiment was draining. Of course he had Maria and for her he was forever grateful but she didn't understand how he felt, no one really could. Until you came along, another alien hedgehog that arrived the same way he did, and was now viewed just like he was.
By all means, Shadow, was not considered approachable. He was only ever willingly around Maria and Gerald, and even Gerald was often pushing it, but when you showed up it was hard to catch him alone. He was basically your caretaker, a task he gave himself after seeing how nervous you felt around everyone and how you weren't exactly sure how to regulate the powers you also had.
You sat next to Shadow as Maria put on a new movie she'd found, 'Godzilla', it was called. You didn't like it, it was about an alien, an evil one who destroyed a place on earth called Japan. It made you feel slightly, self conscious? Even though you yourself wouldn't do that or ever thought of committing violent acts against people. Shadow seemingly noticing your discomfort nudged you, drawing your attention away from the self deprivation you were feeling. He looked down at you, giving you a gruff nod, almost like he could read your mind.
His gaze never left your eyes, silently communicating. It was easy to tell what he wanted to say, 'You're not a freaky monster alien who will go and tear up Japan.' Or something along those lines.. the latter was funnier though. Maria glanced over at you two, noticing the subtle communication but also the slight sadness you both had inn your eyes. Although he didn't show it as much, Shadow felt slightly the same upon seeing the movie.
He knew that feeling all to well, he'd seen it, in the eyes of the scientists, guards, everyone who worked here. They thought he was dangerous, and he hated it. Which was why he was determined to make sure you didn't feel the same, because he wasn't sure if he could handle knowing that you also felt like you were a danger, something that was a weapon.
The nights dragged on, and he made sure to keep an eye on you, silently at least. He will never openly show how much he cares. He just will care, and that's good enough for him, although Maria could tell he cared.
Then that night came, where Maria was gone, and so were you. They'd taken Maria from him and grabbed you, pulling you away from him. God, he couldn't stand it, the tears that fell as you screamed for him. He would've tried to do something if it weren't for the fact he was in shock, he'd witnessed one of his closeted friends die in front of him and now he had to watch as they dragged you away, putting you in a small cage as your small hands tried to reach out to him.
Finally there was silence, it was restless, a restless silence that he had to endure for 50 years. Until he was woken up, and all that consumed him was rage. While on the other side of the containment chambers, you'd also woken up, but instead of feeling anger coursing through you, it was fear. You looked around the barren room, the alarms were sounding, and everything was flashing red, suddenly a loud thud broke your nervous train of thought.
You're eyes widened slightly as something punched down the wall, you stepped out of the tube that held you, the liquid used to keep you asleep was drained, leaving your quills wet. The dust slowly began to clear revealing a figure you longed to see since that dreadful night.
"Shadow?.." You're voice slightly trembled as you spoke that name, trying to see him through the red flashing room. Shadow looked at you, his gaze was unwavering but it slightly softened seeing that you were still alive, and unharmed.
He let out a small sigh, his shoulders untensing at your voice, "Let's go," it was rough but his eyes betrayed him. He was grateful, happy to see that you, at least, had survived. He wasn't going to let what happened to Maria happen to you, he swore on that, nothing would harm you.

Hello! I have a request for movie shadow if your alright with it? Can we have one where maybe shadow saved the reader at gun when he escaped and after he visited the base he kept Maria's skates perhaps and then as he trusts the reader cleans them up and give them to them on the crab?🥹. Showing them how to use them and the two end up bonding even more over it, shadow in his head promising to protect them after and not let what happened to Maria happen to them. This just sounds so flipping cute I hope this request I'd okay. Thank youuuu🥰.
Skating Friends
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x reader (platonic)
warnings: none
summary: After Shadow saves you from GUN during his escape he takes you along with him to visit the old base, stumbling upon a pair of skates he hadn't seen in a long time
a/n: did yall miss me, sorry i have so many requests this is gonna take me some time...i also want to drop a new story sometime maybe a DC one if life permits me, anyway sorry the requests take forever here you go see you all next time, tysm for keeping my blog relevant <3
Shadow didn't know why he brought you with him, he isn't the type to get close to people, at least not anymore. Yet here he was, walking through the old base, the lab, his home. Well, before it became a ruble of dust and broken pipes that gathered dust.
When Shadow first met you, he was shocked. You were being held at GUN against your will, trapped just like he was, it was part of the reason he kept you so close now. It was like he saw himself in you. Just some scared thing that had no choice in your own life, a slave to responsibility and ever droning duty.
You kept a safe distance between you and the hedgehog, he was solitary and it was easy to tell. He was slow as he walked through the dark and dusty corridor, like he wasn't all there. His min was else where, no matter how much he'd wish it wasn't. It was better to stay quiet when he was like this anyway.
Suddenly he stopped, his gaze was unwavering as he looked towards a pile of rocks that leaned against the cold wall. Quickly he made his way over, he was looking at something in the mess but you couldn't tell what yet. Quietly you moved a bit closer to him, following his line of sight until it landed on a pair of skates.
They were dirty and old. Like they'd been left behind, you gave Shadow a small look before putting your attention back on the skate he'd picked up. His brows furrowed as he held it in his hands, his gloved hands slightly tensing as he looked at the skates. A small huff escaped his lips as he put the skate back down and continued walking.
You stood there for a bit longer, watching as he walked off. A curious expression gracing your face. You didn't know exactly what Shadow went through, you'd heard bits and pieces, but it was easy to tell these skates meant something to him. As he was distracted you grabbed the skates on the ground, and shoved them into the small bag you had slung across your shoulders and quickly made your way back over to him. Following him again through the base.
As the day passed Shadow met with Gerald, a man who you came to learn was someone Shadow seemed to share deep rooted trauma with, and apparently that man had a grandson who was considerably just as intelligent as him. Both men as well as Shadow all made a plan to infiltrate GUN HQ and steal the keycard to an old plan that Gerald had some up.
Shadow not wanting to leave you behind, gestured for you to follow. So now here you were, onboard a strange crab like plane with 3 older men who seemed to have some strange thing going on and the resident hedgehog who kept to himself.
While you waited you went over to a quieter part of the Crab that would leave you unnoticed by everyone. Slowly you took out the skates that were still in your bag; you let out a small hum as you examined them. They were very old and very dirty, it even looked like they had stains but that just made you determined. This was going to be a long trip anyway might as well find something to do.
So while you all flew to London, you'd decided to try and refurbish the old skates. Sitting down in the corner you began to try and brush some of the dirt and dust away, clearly that didn't do much. So you quickly got up and grabbed some paper towels near the kitchen area of the Crab, dampening them slightly so that you could clean up the skates. You felt your arm getting sore from all the scrubbing that you had to do just to get all the gunk off.
The skates looked slightly better, you could actually see the color now. Blue, they were blue. Whoever owned them before had taste. You looked at the wheels, also cleaning them and taking out anything that would disrupt the skating process.
Shadow, noticing the lack of your presence behind him, turned around and tried to find where you'd gone before his eyes landed on a familiar sight. He's eyes scanned the skates, he noticed you trying to clean them. Unable to look away he made his way over to you in quick strides. You looked up at him and smiled at the hedgehog, one skate in your hand and the other still dirty on the ground.
He let out a small huff at the sight, it was oddly endearing, but it also brought back slight pain. Without hesitation Shadow grabbed the skate off the ground and from your hand before walking off without explanation. You sat there, mouth agape as he just grabbed the skates away from you.
Quickly you stood up, following behind him, "What are you doing?" You asked, trying to get a look of what he was doing with the skates.
"Here," he grumbled as he handed them back to you. They were clean, and the wheels turned fine, he had fixed them, "Put them on." He stated, leaving you no room to decline. Sitting down you took off your shoes and slipped the skates on, they fit well considering their age.
Shadow grabbed your arm, and helped you to your feet. He looked at the skates before looking back at you, "Keep them safe," although he tried to keep a cool demeanor it was easy to tell his voice softened as he addressed you about the skates. Clearly they held a lot of sentimental value for him yet he trusted you enough to have them.
"I can't skate, Shadow.." You stumbled a bit as you stood up, trying to keep your balance. He took notice of this and kept a safe distance as a way of making sure if you fell he'd help.
He thought for a moment before speaking up again, "I can show you then" He walked back slightly before he started to glide around a bit. His shoes seemed to have some type of wheels on them. Your eyes widened at this sudden revelation, not realizing he had his own skates this whole time. A subtle smile found it's way onto your lips before you tried to skate towards him, flailing your arms slightly to keep your balance. Shadow sighed at the sight, realizing he had his work cut out for him but you guys had a good amount of time before you reached London, which meant he could teach you.
Stone turned around from enviously watching the Robotnik's to look over at you two, his ears perking up at the sound of laughter that seemed to escape you. Shadow wouldn't admit that he was enjoying this, but then again he didn't need to. There was a small underlying understanding between you two.
And that was just fine.

I've been reading all your recent Shadow fics and they're all SO CUTE!!! It makes me so happy to see where Shadow sort of gets to have a second chance with a new Maria, one where he can keep them safe. I was wondering though, how do you think he would react if they dyed red streaks into their hair to look like him?
Red Hair Dye
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x reader (platonic)
warnings: none
summary: after a trip to the store you see a hair dye that reminds you of your favorite little hedgehog
a/n: hey guys sorry i was gone this week, school started back up so slow updates and i just went through a break up so just taking things slow, here's your request tysm for your patience! (This reminds me of when I had pink highlights 😭)

The store was quiet, it was late so it wasn't very strange. You walked through the aisles, looking at all its contents. It was a small corner store no more then a 3 minute walk from your place. Light jazz music played as beeping of machines echoed through the front of the store.
You stopped in the hair dye section, taking a look at all the colors, thinking which one you liked best, not that you were sure you were even going to dye your hair. Until you spotted it, a crimson red hair dye that looked like it was on sale.
Pausing, you stared at it a bit before ultimately picking it up. You looked at the brand, knowing it was a trust worthy one when it came to hair damage and color, so without a second thought you quickly shoved it into your basket before continuing to browse a bit more.
The trip was short lived and quickly you found yourself rushing to your bathroom, excited to try the new color you'd bought. Shadow was somewhere about but didn't seem to try and find you, seemingly hearing your rush to reach the bathroom, almost paying no mind to it.
Opening the box you grabbed everything inside, basically dumping it out onto your sink as you sorted through it. The instructions were simple, so you just went with the flow, prepping your hair and sectioning it the way you wanted.
After your hair was ready, you started to mix some of the paint, making sure to add the right amount of color so that it would be bright enough on your hair. After a bit of mixing you grabbed the small brush that came in the box, as well as the gloves. You slipped the gloves on slowly and started to apply the red.
It was a tiring process, taking you over 20 minutes to finally finish. By that point your arms were tired from being held up so long. Swiftly you exhaled and sat down against the wall, making sure your hair wasn't messed up.
A small knock interrupted your waiting. You slightly opened the door, not realizing how strong the smell of paint truly was, as the hedgehog took a quick step back, his nose scrunching.
"What are you doing?" He asked, arms crossed, not being able to fully see you as you hid behind the door, wanting to keep the hair a surprise.
You let out a small chuckle before playfully responding, "It's a secret," Shadow just gave a small sigh, knowing you wouldn't tell him till later with that type of answer.
"Don't take long then" Shadow said before turning away, probably going to go sit in your room, although he'd never say it he found comfort around you more then he did most. It was nice to be special.
You closed the door quickly, and sat in the bathroom a bit longer, waiting at least 30 minutes so that the dye would set. Shadow found it a bit annoying at how long you were taking and he was very curious as to what exactly that smell was, it was like chemicals. Maybe you were cleaning, but the more Shadow thought the more he knew it would not be cleaning.
You took a quick shower, the water was cold to make sure not a lot of dye left your hair. Once you were done the bathroom was a red mess that you'd hope would be able to come off later.
Drying yourself and changing you put on some of the lasting products in the box which were supposed to make the dye last longer as you fixed your hair, excited to show Shadow the result.
Walking towards your room you found Shadow on the edge of your bed, his arms still crossed and his posture straight as he kept his gaze steady on the novela in front of him. His eyes quickly changed over to you as he saw you enter, the first thing that caught his attention though was your hair.
It looked like you had red highlights in your hair, he was shocked to see your new look.
"I thought we could match!" You cheerfully said making your way over to him as he saw bits of red.
He let out a small huff of approval, "It looks nice," He now stood up, as you sat on the ground taking in the sight.
"So you like the emo highlights?" You jokingly asked him, knowing how Sonic and his friends had called him the emo hedgehog before.
Shadow just gave you a straight face before walking past you and out your door.
Quickly you sprung to your feet, apologizing as you followed him out, "I was kidding come back!"

Kidnapping Buddy
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x teen!reader (platonic)
warnings: kidnapping (it’s silly though)
summary: you find yourself kidnapped by Robotnik but Shadow finds you quite interesting
a/n: request my mutual sent me recently so I knew I had to come through 🙂↕️, here you go!
You didn’t think you’d be spending your day tied to a chair in Robotniks weird Crab helicopter, but here you were. Unfortunately you were considered a useful asset as bait against your parents and Sonic to keep them from trying to stop him from ‘ruling the world’.
It was dumb and extremely boring, especially with no one to talk to. Then he showed up, Shadow was assigned with the task to make sure you didn’t escape, you were a sneaky teen after all. Robotnik himself knew that because you had foiled his plans several times before with your (technically) brother Sonic.
You guys were like two devils when combined together, it was actually quite frightening for Robotnik, which contributed to the reason why you were kidnapped. Keeping you away from Sonic was his idea of lessening the verbal abuse he got from you two.
Shadow didn’t know that though, all he knew was that you were supposed to be their leverage in case of emergency and he was to treat you as such. Too bad he was underestimating you.
As Shadow walked into the room you were held, his gaze never left yours. He fixed himself to lean against the wall, arms crossed as he studied you. You looked harmless enough, he didn’t understand why Robotnik even wanted you here, the mission would’ve gone just fine without you.
Shadow closed his eyes for a second, thinking to himself before opening them up again only to see you had untied yourself. Your arms free as you rubbed your sore wrists.
“This flight sucks, where are the snack?” You asked Shadow, a smirk placed on your features as you teased him subtly.
Shadow stood there dumbfounded as to how you were able to untie yourself in less than five seconds. Thanks to Sonic and all the mishaps he’d had with Eggman your parents thought it was good to teach you a few essentials in case something like this happened.
“How?” Shadow asked you. Somewhat blocking the only exit.
You let out a sigh and sat back down on the floor, not really seeing a reason to leave, “This isn’t the first time..” you smiled as you looked around the room.
He stood there a bit longer before walking closer, seeing you didn’t seem to have much of an urge to leave, “Explain.”
And so you did, you went on an annoyingly long rant about how Robotnik liked to try and capture you or your family members to use against Sonic but it never worked.
As you talked Shadow found himself engrossed. He sat across from you, no longer worried if you escaped, he’d probably catch you anyway. While you told your stories he noticed you were very expressive, it reminded him about his short encounter with the other hedgehog he’d briefly met.
“That sounds obnoxious.” Shadow mumbled, his brows furrowed and armed crossed.
“It really is!!” You exclaimed, your arms thrown in the air as you huffed. You didn’t really know Shadow well and you knew he was the enemy but he was honestly fun to talk to, at least more than Robotnik and Stone were.
Before you’d realized it you had already spent a lot of time talking with Shadow, he may have been a bit intimidating but he was genuinely really cool. Even he seemed to enjoy himself around you, finding amusement in your stories. He honestly hoped you’d be able to escape or your brothers come and save you.
Time continued to pass as you spent time with Shadow, talking about mindless things. His responses quick but it was more in his nature to listen anyway. You were a fun ‘prisoner’, even if you would argue you willingly let yourself be kidnapped (you did not).

do all the requests for the Sonic characters have to be platonic (for tails ofc it does I mean ones like Shadow and Sonic)
No they do not! I usually write platonic because that’s the standpoint I’m writing it from! I have gotten some romantic requests that I’m still having to get to because of all the other ones! And yes characters like Tails who are canonically children I definitely wouldn’t do romantic just platonic

So one, your fics are amazing like omg. Two can i make a request? For movie shadow x a reader who maybe has been seriously injuired and maybe gets close to death just like maria did after shadow had gotten close to them so shadows rushing them out to try and get help from gerald or just anyone after they infultrated gun. Not wanting the next person he cares about to die.
Pain
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x reader (platonic)
warnings: minor sonic 3 spoilers, mentions of death, injury, bodily harm
summary: after a mission gone wrong, Shadow finds you and tries his hardest to save you before it’s too late
a/n: im happy you enjoy my shadow fics I genuinely cannot express how grateful I am to see so many kind words coming from so many different people🥹 here’s your request! I hope you like it <3
You weren’t asked to infiltrate GUN, no, that was something volunteered to do. You planned to sneak in and insert the chip needed to deactivate the system for the Robotniks to activate the vault.
Simple in and out with no casualties, but you weren’t able to get out, caught in the cross fire that your boss was causing up above in the vault.
Your chest began to tighten as you tried to get out, but every hall had a surge of security roaming, per orders of the new lady in charge. So there you were, suck at the bottom of the building that you had no idea how to get out of.
Then there it was, a loud booming noise causing the entire structure to rumble; slightly knocking you off your feet. You fell to your knees trying to stabilize yourself as the rumbling stopped, but before you had a chance to use this a way of escaping the ceiling above you began to crack.
Quickly snapping your head up you cursed yourself for even volunteering to do this, a testament to try and prove your worth to Robotnik was the whole idea behind it.
Slowly the ceiling above you collapsed in some places, narrowing your route of escape. Your mind was racing with millions of plans on how to get out. You sent a small distress signal to your team, alerting them of your location in case they could get you out.
Just as you’d done that the small bits of ceiling that had fallen were right above where you were trying to run. The door was in front of you and freedom from this was nearer than you’d originally thought.
Not wasting anytime you bolted for the door, once you made it you tried to open it, only to realize that there was something holding it shut. You were trapped with no way to get out.
You stood there, still trying to push at the door when a sudden crack got your attention, before you could even react a chunk of the ceiling at hit you. It was painful and hard to see, the dawning reality of the situation making you panic.
Laying there felt like waiting for death to come, it was so scary, slowly you felt yourself losing consciousness. The stress and pain mixing leaving your body to shut down on itself.
Shadow saw the distress signal, he knew something was up, but he hesitated. He was about to leave, deciding maybe you could handle yourself. This was his chance to finally get revenge for Maria, then he stopped.
It was when he saw the building crumble in certain places, due to team Sonic’s muscle man, that he thought back to the signal you’d sent. He was torn but ultimately knew what he was going to do.
Teleporting there was mayhem, the bottom area where you should’ve been was terribly dirty, pieces of debris left and right. Then he saw you.
Your eyes were closed and your breathing was heavy, it looked like you had a cut in some places where the ceiling had hit you. His quills began to glow, indicating his intense emotion and rage that replaced his gloomy expression.
Shadow found himself at your side, trying to remove all of what was covering you without causing you any harm. He was fast but tried to stay calm, he knew he would be of no use if he rushed it.
Shadow was still kneeled at your side, this scene reminiscent of one he’d been at before. He tried to lift your back and head into his arms, he hadn’t teleported with humans before, but he had to in the moment.
Because Shadow knew he had to save you, and he only knew one person who would. So he rushed, rushed together find Gerald and plead with him to save you, that you were worthy of being saved, you had not wronged them there was no reason to let you die. Shadow would not let you die, he would not let the person had grown to care for die.

Happy New Year!
Could you make a movie Shadow X Reader for me?
Shadow is celebrating or seeing New Year's Eve for the first time after 50 years. I really liked the idea and the idea would be cute. I've always wondered if Shadow saw New Year's Eve.
Happy New Year
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x reader (platonic)
warnings: none
summary: Shadow celebrates his first New Year after spending the past 50 in Statis
a/n: Happy new year everyone! I was writing a new years special and got this request so I just combined them together, have a wonderful year everyone!
Shadow hadn’t celebrated New Year’s in a longtime, not since she had been alive. This year would be the first time he has since he was put in Statis 50 years ago.
It seemed that the celebration for New Year’s had drastically gotten more intense since he last remembered. He sat outside, his gaze fixed on the starry skies.
You walked outside wanting a breath of the fresh air from the party that was happening inside. Shadow wasn’t much of a party guy, wanting more to be alone and take in the beauty of silence. He wasn’t even sure why he agreed to go with you to the Wachowski family New Year party.
You made your way over to him, seeing how his eyes never left the sky, “Not much of a party guy I assume?” You lightly chuckled as he gave you a small glance. A reassurance that he was listening to you.
“I haven’t celebrated this holiday in a long time.” He whispered, letting out a small sigh as he felt your warmth from beside him. You sat close, observing Shadow, in all the time you’ve known him he’s never been very vulnerable, always keeping to himself but tonight was different.
A small hum of acknowledgment left your lips, you felt bad for the hedgehog, truly you did. There wasn’t much you could do to make him feel more comfortable, so you did the only thing you knew.
You took off your jacket and wrapped it around Shadows shoulders. It wasn’t a big gesture but it was comforting and held a lot more sentiment in it then others would assume.
“You’re gonna get cold,” He said, his face straight but the small quirk in his lips betraying his body language.
The night was very cold but you’d manage a few minutes outside, “You will too if you stay outside without a jacket!” You joked back, knowing he wouldn’t due to the fur that covered his body, he knew too but understood why you did it.
After a bit the atmosphere outside steadied, a comfortable silence now between you two. As you sat there, the sudden sound of fireworks alarmed you both, the signal of the new year now starting.
A smile spread across your face seeing all the fireworks go into the air, Shadow just sat there watching your expression brighten. Your head then turned towards him, “Happy New Year Shadow,” You exclaimed.
Shadow sat there, a bit slow to respond but when he did it shocked you, “Happy New Year.” He smiled, it was small but it was there. Shadow was smiling, a genuine smile etched onto his face. It really was a rare sight to see but he was hopeful, hopeful that this new year would be good because he was starting it with you by his side.
You sat outside together a bit longer, before deciding to both head back in together; Shadow handed back your jacket, insisting you’d catch a cold without it.
Shadow didn’t feel so alone after that. It really was a Happy New Year.

Hello! I recently rewatched Sonic 3 and was Wondering if you could do a Shadow x (fem) child of Stone’s who basically takes one look at Shadow and goes he’s my friend now.
(Age- 5-10) I picked this age because I have VIVID memories of trying to befriend Anything even things i really shouldn’t
You’re my friend now!
pairings: Shadow the Hedgehog x child!reader (platonic)
warnings: none!
summary: you meet Shadow and decide he is going to be your friend, whether he wants to or not
a/n: OMGGG THIS IS SO CUTE! I imagine Shadow being so careful around reader because they’re a child and he’s just so confused why this little kid is just following him around😭
When you first saw Shadow, you thought he was some big plushie that came to life. It was magical really. Being a child and one so young, these things intrigued you. In fact you quite literally could not stay away.
Your father, Stone didn’t exactly tell you not to stay away either, he just gave you a heads up that Shadow was very powerful and to be careful around him. Which you would be, but first you needed to make him your new friend.
You stood behind your father, your eyes narrowed onto the hedgehog, with a gaze so serious even Shadow was confused. He took a few glances at you before looking back at the Robotniks so called ‘bonding’.
While he was distracted you took this as a chance to finally walk up to him. Stone watched you, never letting you leave his sight as a protective father would.
Shadow sensed something going on and as he turned around he was met with your face. You brightly smiled at him giving him a small wave to which he only replied to with a small nod.
Obviously Shadow could tell you were a child, no older then 10 at that, and he knew how innocent and fragile they were so he kept his responses short. Not in a rude way, he didn’t want to hurt your feelings. He was actually quite nervous, he was considered dangerous and didn’t want that danger to harm you since you hadn’t wronged him in anyway.
You blinked up at him, your eyes wide with joy and excitement seeing how he acknowledged your presence (which was literally the bare minimum but you are a child so what can most people expect). Without hesitation you blurted out, “You’re my friend now!” Shadows eyes slightly widened a bit before going back to his usual neutral expression.
“What?” He asked, trying not to sound rude and offend you; even though he didn’t understand what exactly was happening.
You only giggled and grabbed his hand, dragging him away, “We’re having soft tacos later!”
That was how Shadow was dragged into being your new friend and how he was currently sitting on the floor watching you stuff your face with tacos while making matching bracelets that said ‘bff’ on them. Shadow couldn’t lie, it was actually endearing to see how you were so bright and willing to immediately befriend him.
He sat there quietly, watching your focus go into the bracelet currently in your hands. Yours was a mix of your two favorite colors while his was black and red for obvious reasons.
He watched as you slipped yours onto your wrist, then you grabbed his arm and raised it up as you put his bracelet on as well. A small smile made its way to your face, proud of your hard work.
Shadow examined the bracelet a bit before he gave you a small pat on the head. He wasn’t big on words, he preferred to show he cared through gestures and actions instead, so you knew you’d done well.
Shadow wore the bracelet with pride, happy to show off his new friend.
