I don’t care what the new X-men integration into the MCU will be like; I just need James McAvoy to express his utter contempt at Marvel if they manage to screw it up the way they’ve been doing with their recent phase. This man’s unabridged ire at how big franchises handle their media will never not be funny and valid.

people being upset at grrm for stating his disagreements about hotd is hysterical because what do you mean you’re going to tell the creator of these stories and characters that he’s wrong?? 💀 IT’S ALL HIS WORK!!! there would be no hotd for anyone to watch if it wasn’t for him. he knows all the traits the characters have, the traits he was going to give them that he decided not to, the complete ins and outs of the dynamics and situations that happen and the ones that got scrapped… like how are you going to tell an author that the way he views his work is being portrayed and received as is wrong???? that’s so bold to do lmfaooo. like regardless of our opinion, at the end of the day we’re all wrong because we did not create this world. we are just visitors

I need this show to ask themselves how on earth centuries of history were all remembered as the same stories that were eventually the same stories lied about by maesters spreading pro green propaganda, when the in universe book of Fire and Blood did not exist for so many centuries after the Dance, that the man who wrote it was alive during Robert Baratheons reign.
Were the maesters even then, holding every Targaryean at knifepoint forcing them to spew out history literally everyone would know was not true just in case one man in 200 years future wanted to write a fucking propaganda book about it?
Did Rhaenyras own descendants just willingly spreading pro green propaganda too?

A Game of Thrones, Daenerys III
The knight gave his heels to his mount and started off again.
Dany rode close beside him.
“Still,” she said, “the common people are waiting for him. Magister Illyrio says they are sewing dragon banners and praying for Viserys to return from across the narrow sea to free them.”
“The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends,” Ser Jorah told her.
“It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace.”
He gave a shrug. “They never are.”
Dany rode along quietly for a time, working his words like a puzzle box.
It went against everything that Viserys had ever told her to think that the people could care so little whether a true king or a usurper reigned over them.
Yet the more she thought on Jorah’s words, the more they rang of truth.

Time to debunk another TG bullshit related to how Otto pimped out his daughter : “Otto did what any lord would have done. He and Corlys are the same.”
It is bad enough that they constantly justify Alicent’s actions and praise her but to do that for Otto too, is going over the line.
You’re really going to compare this guy:
Tumblr media
To this one?
Tumblr media
Alrighty. Let’s begin.
I have noticed that TG fans have a hard time understanding that there is a hierarchy in relation to the Houses in Westeros. There are Great Houses which come before vassal ones, of course. But there is also something else: since the Targaryens are the rulers of Westeros, their closest ties are to other Valyrian Houses, namely House Velaryon and House Celtigar. They are kin. And even better, House Velaryon is as Corlys once put it “the greatest power in the Realm”.
Now, when I say that there is a hierarchy that also applies to those who have access to advantageous marriages. Up until the Dance, the royal bloodline has come through Targaryen Kings and Queens (Queen Aemma was also half Targaryen on her mother’s side) but also a Velaryon Queen, Alyssa Velaryon.
So, it is of course no surprise that Corlys Velaryon proposes his daughter, Laena to be the next Queen after Queen Aemma’s passing. With a short supply of Valyrian brides, Laena was the best option without a doubt. Corlys presented his daughter as a suitable candidate before the King, Council and Court. Everyone knew that Viserys was considering taking Laena Velaryon as his next wife. And Corlys had every right to make such a move because his daughter ticked all the boxes: she was Valyrian, daughter of the Lord of the Tides, with her came the Velaryon fleets, dragons and riches. Oh, and she was also the daughter of a Targaryen Princess. This marriage would have united the Valyrian Houses on the Iron Throne. There was only one problem: Laena was too young. Had she been like 4 years older, Viserys would have considered her. But it wouldn’t have been a problem if he had. She and Viserys could have had a marriage only for public display, until Laena had the respectable age. It wouldn’t be the first time such a marriage came to be.
Now, the Hightowers are a whole different story. As much they claim to be a force in the Reach, their ties to the Faith do not grant them the title of a Paramount House. The Paramount House of the Reach is House Tyrell.
Otto Hightower is a second son from a vassal House with nothing to his name. His daughter was in no way a suitable candidate for the King. That is why he didn’t dare do what Corlys did. He didn’t present Alicent as an option before the King, Court and Council because then everyone would see him for what he truly is: an opportunistic social-climber who wants more. So, he pimped his daughter out in secret by having her visit the King during the night, wearing her dead mother’s dresses. What Otto and Alicent did was shameful, and in no way near noble.
Corlys is the Lord of Driftmark, and presented his daughter Laena OPENLY to the King, Council and Court.
Otto, even as Hand, is a nobody. He does not have the privilege (or is even allowed) to publicly propose his low-ranked daughter as a candidate to be the future Queen. So as a greedy opportunist that he is, he pimped out his daughter to a grieving King during the night.
So no. What Otto did is not what any lord would have done. He is no lord, first of all. And secondly, other men of his ranking understand their place in the hierarchy and don’t scheme/plot the way the Hightowers constantly do.
He and Corlys are not the same. Corlys had the privilege, the blood and the necessary ranking to be able to proudly and openly present his daughter as a candidate. So why not? Especially since the bloodline had been continued through a Velaryon Queen once before.
Laena was to be considered first and then any daughter of the Lord of a Paramount House. But never the daughter of a second son of a vassal house.
Otto schemed in the most disgusting way possible to take away a privilege that is not normally granted to someone as low as him in ranking. He is a greedy opportunist who SECRETLY pimped his daughter out to the King for personal advantage.
What Corlys did was honorably and publicly present his daughter as the most suitable candidate before the King, Council and Court. What Otto did was shamefully pimp his daughter out in secret.

Now that i've finally finished bg2 and throne of bhaal, can I just say that Bhaal's resurrection in wotc canon does not make sense to me? The one as described in the Murder in Baldur's Gate module.
Let me pop off under the readmore, I have things to say and a bone to pick with wotc about the way they clearly ignore bg2 established lore.
(yes its their IP, they can do whatever they want. I can also be disappointed by it and think its poorly thought out bullshit)
Tumblr media
Melissa: One of his priesthood needed to have access to the essence that would be collected from the Bhaalspawn... one of his priesthood would have to perform the neccessary rites to give the dead Lord of Murder back that essence.
As stated by Melissan/Amalyssan (by the word of Bhaal himself, for he told her this) just killing the bhaalspawn (thereby returning their essence) would not have been enough to revive Bhaal. It requires a ritual, likely in Bhaal's planar domain where the final battle of bg2 takes place and the bhaalspawn essence automatically regathers.
Tumblr media
Solar: The vast majority of the soul essence of the children of Bhaal, Lord of Murder, now belong to you and you alone. You must now decide what to do with this power... Be wise -- the choice is irrevocable.
While Solar hints that not all bhaalspawn are likely death. At the least the vast majority of his essence is returned. Enough to perform the ritual. Enough for Gorian's Ward to ascend to godhood in their father's place. So this doesn't conflict with Murder in BG (and bg3) and the presence of bhaalspawn still.
What does conflict is the way Murder in BG proclaim 'the last bhaalspawn die'. The last bhaalspawn being wotc canon Gorian's Ward, Abdel Adrian, and effectively some random guy. These two duking it out and dying is somehow enough to revive Bhaal.
Even though Bhaal told his own priest he could only be revived after enough essence had returned and a ritual was performed by his own priesthood?
"But Idle" I hear you say, "Bhaal could've told others of his former priesthood. They could've performed the ritual in the background in Murder in BG."
If Bhaal did we still have to account for the fact that Bhaal died, scattering and destroying any organised religion (that was already scattered and unorganised to begin with). Many priests converted to Cyric, others just died. Not to mention by the time Murder in BG happens it has been 126 years since Bhaal died in the Time of Troubles. Leaving only a few races (like [half]elves and perhaps dwarves) who could be priests and have survived till then.
Even then, I must ask. If these hypothetical other priests knew how to revive Bhaal. Why weren't they trying to do so during the Bhaalspawn crisis. The prime moment to do so. But no, it was only Amalyssan. If there were any other priests, she likely killed them when they made it to Bhaal's domain to make the attempt, so she could have the power alone.
But for the sake of the argument, lets pretend there is another priests who has survived and knows of the ritual.
Here's why it's still bullshit:
Tumblr media
Solar: Surrendering the essence will allow the gods to remove its evil taint and hide it well within the halls of Mount Celestial, forever preventing it from soiling further souls.
Canon wotc, according to Murder in BG, has a Gorian's Ward named Abdel Adrian. Abdel is a human and has clearly not risen to divinity. Abdel has therefore given up his Bhaalspawn essence. Ignoring the fact that the human Abdel Adrian is alive 113 years post BG2 (living around 50y~ more than the average human). Because to be mortal required giving up the Bhaalspawn essence that Murder in BG reasons was the last bit of essence needed to revive Bhaal somehow. Which Abdel shouldn't have anymore. Because he's mortal.
By all accounts. Bhaal's resurrection, as per wotc canon, goes against what BG2 establishes.
(also boo, why is becoming a mortal the canon wotc choice. rising to divinity is the more fun and interesting option)
