You’re magic ink that holds constitution and mass into your own shape, so swimming isn’t actually an issue, right Bendy? You’re not going to dilute, but depending on how your mass actually works, your buoyancy might be weird. Do you have human buoyancy? Or do you sink? Or is it like a ball where you shoot up out of the water when someone tires to push you down?

warnings: language, as usual I think. a/n: hey beautiful person how you're doing? ofc makes sense so put your sunglasses on girl, we're having a beach day!
Jason couldn’t think of a better way to spend the day than taking you to the beach. Sure, it seemed a bit cliché for a daughter of Neptune, but you couldn’t deny that you missed being near the sea, especially when everyone at Camp Jupiter saw you as just a bad omen. Jason wished it could be like at Camp Half-Blood, where the kids of the Big Three were almost too respected.
You reached for his hand, and he put those thoughts aside. He wanted to focus on you today and have a good time.
For your day at the beach...
Jason carried the backpack with all the essentials, double-checking everything before you left:
- Sunscreen? Check. Maybe it didn’t bother you or him, but he had to protect both of your skin.
- Towels to dry off? Check.
- An inflatable donut? It wasn’t for you, it was for him. He’s a good swimmer, but he wanted to relax too (which clearly didn’t happen).
- And finally, a small net bag.

- snacks
- a protector for his glasses
- a change of clothes for both.
You’d probably drag him through the sand and play with him in the water. Jason held you tightly by the waist, and you smiled in that special way you only did when you were near the water... and him.
He was sweating from the heat and also because you made him nervous. How long have you been his girlfriend? He lost count (okay, he knows exactly, but it’s been long enough for him to be used to it).
He’s a shrimp if he doesn’t protect himself, but even with sunscreen, his face had pink spots.
You took him to a deeper spot with the help of an air bubble, showing him places he could never have seen without you.
Kissing underwater.
Putting sunscreen on each other. Jason always shyly asked when he got near places that might bother you with his hands.
When you were taking a break in the shade on your towels, he would direct a breeze toward you. No heatwave would threaten you.
He kept both of you hydrated.
Then you smiled and reached into the bag for the one thing you begged him to bring: your net bag. “Be right back,” you giggled anxiously and ran off before your boyfriend could say anything. Jason tried to stay put but ended up going with you.
“Look at this!” you squealed, holding up a shell to Jason’s eye level. The comparison was clear because that shell was a shade of blue similar to his eyes. Jason framed the view with his hands.
“Are there shells that color?” You shrugged and tossed it into the net to keep searching until you had a big collection.
Tired, you sat at the edge of the shore, where the tide just touched your toes, and Jason mimicked you. He kissed your forehead and smiled warmly as the sun began to set.
You held the net up, admiring the diversity and beauty of something so simple, then hugged it to your chest, looking a bit sad.
“Something wrong?” your boyfriend asked, noticing your heaviness and thinking you might have hurt yourself.
“Nothing,” you said, standing up and shaking the sand off your legs. “I’m going to put them back where they belong.”
He found it strange. If you’d put so much effort into collecting them, why return them?
“I’m afraid my father will get mad at me for taking something so precious,” you explained, “or that guy Grover will chase me for damaging the ecosystem,” you added with a more genuine laugh.
So, Jason helped you spread out what you had collected. You didn’t feel bad about doing the right thing; quite the opposite.
“All set?” Jason called a few meters away, and you nodded. He noticed you were holding something in your hand and asked with his eyes.
You extended your hand, revealing the unusual shell with the same eye color as Jason. “I know my dad won’t be mad if I take just one,” you said, taking Jason’s hand. He smiled and carried you bridal-style to the showers to wash off the sand.

ᴍᴀʏʙ'ꜱ ɴᴏᴛᴇ: we don't have resources for their exact sign language so i made some things up (since na'vi sign language isn't the same as asl) as well as iknimaya trials and traditions.

Ever since you were a kid, you had always loved the ocean. The Metkayina clan was a tribe of the water, the ocean, so it made sense; but unlike others your age who preferred to play with each other, you enjoyed being completely surrounded by Eywa's children within the ocean.
You had no qualms with solitude, as all you needed was the sea; but eventually, it proved to be a problem.
The sea gives and the sea takes; it gave you a world to love and took your hearing.

Tsireya introduced you to Sully's in their first lesson as one of the Metkayina who truly loved the ocean. "This is our best free diver," She put a hand on your shoulder, "(y/n). You're lucky I managed to find him."
Instead of responding in some negative way at her comment, you grin and offer a small wave.
"How so?" Lo'ak questions.
Tsireya doesn't answer outright. She giggles, "You'll see."
The chief's children and you jump into the water, demonstrating the proper way to dive in that best transitions into swimming. The Sully's, on the other hand, jump into the water as though in play.
You could see it in their eyes, their amazement. The sea was an entirely different world from the one above, it was something you loved about it.
Only the Na'vi and their animal companions mingled on the coast above. The ilu could be compared to their banshees, nothing special; and the people, though physically different, were still Na'vi.
You didn't doubt that these water creatures were unlike anything they'd seen before, and you were happy that they were astonished with the wildlife you, too, loved.
You turn back forward to swim, knowing that they'll follow. You show them the form, using your tail to help and keeping your body like a spear to be able to cut through the water.
You lead them deeper into the sea, but Ao'nung taps your shoulder. You turn to follow his finger, which points up.
The Sully's were taking a breath of air. Right, that's probably something you should teach them, but you were probably not the best teacher.
Within the water, your safe haven, you tended to forget many things, so you signed to them, keep going, forgetting they didn't know how to sign.
You keep swimming, this time checking up on them as you reach an underwater slope. They were bad swimmers, it seemed, which is an idea sort of incomprehensible to you, as every Metkayina was basically born in the ocean. They pushed off of coral and rock formations to push forward and keep up.
They don't even make it to you when they go back up for air.
What's wrong with them? Ao'nung signs.
They're bad divers. Rotxo replies. Though fingers and hands hardly conveyed emotion, you knew from Rotxo and Ao'nung's generally jokester demeanor that he was making fun of them.
Stop, they're learning. Tsireya scolds.
Whilst they talk to one another, you get distracted with something out of the corner of your eye. It was bioluminescence, hardly noticeable during the daytime, which is why it's so curious. You forget the lesson at hand and follow it.
The chief's children and Rotxo swim up to talk to the Sully's where they will actually understand each other. It is only after Tsireya promises to teach them sign language, which Neteyam ignorantly describes as "finger talk", that they notice you and their dear sister's disappearance.
The bioluminescence you had caught came from a lone hammerhead squid, which is even more peculiar because it was alone. Perhaps it was paranoid, because when it saw you, it began swimming away with determination.
You struggle to catch up with it.
It dives behind large coral, hoping to lose you, but you always catch up. Hammerhead squids found safety in numbers, so they usually didn't go so fast, which means it would tire out soon.
Knowing this, you kept up the chase. Regardless, however, it puts up a good fight.
It shoots out its ink prematurely. The black liquid disperses in the water, clouding much of the view ahead of you. Instead of swimming through it, you dive under, although you almost bump into a sharp rock. Narrowly, you avoid it, swimming up quickly once you're past the ink.
Though you move past it, its original outcome–clouding your view–succeeds. When you clear the ink, you suddenly bump into someone.
Sorry. You sign, rubbing at your forehead where you'd bumped into her, so so sorry.
The girl before you is one of the Sully's. Her eyebrows furrow, confusion in her face, but you misinterpret it as anger. Great, it's the Sully's first day in the clan and you were already giving bad impressions.
I didn't mean to bump into you.
Her eyebrows furrow further. Ultimately, although she doesn't like it, she decides to surface so that the two of you may speak. She points up and you understand.
Once you're up at the surface, she says, "I don't know what you're saying."
You had long since memorized the way one's mouth moves when they say those words, and their variations, so you explain, "I was apologizing for bumping into you."
Though the next couple words come muddled to you, you just barely catch her saying "alright" and a wave of relief washes over you. "What's your name?"
"Kiri." She gives you a polite smile.
"Nice to meet you, Kiri." You nod. "I didn't realize we'd lost you while diving. Why'd you wander off?"
"Oh, I um," She worries that you may think her a freak, so she waters it down. "I got distracted."
You chuckle, "Yeah, I get it. Happens a lot to me too. It's like a different world, isn't it?"
Her face lights up when you agree with her, "Yeah, it is." She ached to observe it again, to be surrounded by Eywa'eveng. "Do you mind if I..?" She gestures down.
You tilt your head, confused. "You what?"
"Go down again." Kiri mutters, little ashamed to say out loud that she'd rather be underwater than talk with you, but you manage to read her lips.
"Oh, of course I don't." You shake your head, "Actually, I was in the middle of finding something. Do you wanna come with?"
Though she much preferred to take the sights all in on her own and on her own time, she had to admit your offer was interesting. "Okay, sure." She nods.
Kiri follows you back underwater, and keeps swimming after you. Reminded of the other Sully's, you make sure to keep your head straight and swim at a slower pace.
As you keep swimming past large coral and columns of algae, trying to catch a glimpse of the squid you were searching for before, Kiri gets distracted by something particularly special out of the corner of her eye.
She stays in place, entranced, and almost swims for it before remembering the task at hand. However, when she turns to you, you're swimming back to her.
Txampaysye. You sign, but of course she wouldn't understand. So, you wave your hand in the water to create ripples in the current and signify the water. Then, you pass a hand from your stomach to your throat and out your mouth to signify breathing. Breathing underwater.
Somehow, she understands. Though the butterfly-like Txampaysye catches her attention, uncharacteristically of her, she gestures for you to keep going. She'll have time another day.
Just a bit of swimming later, you find the squid again. It doesn't notice you. You point at it and Kiri's head tilts with curiosity.
How could a squid be bioluminescent in the day? The sunlight's rays still reached it.
Do you want to catch it? You closed your hand, from splayed fingers into a fist very quickly, the sign for catch. It was pretty straight forward, so Kiri understood; what she didn't understand, and what she was against, was the idea.
The question was only formal. You swim forward without waiting for her answer, thinking she wanted to catch it.
You approach it as silently as possible, keeping your arms to your body and swaying up and down, using your feet like a fin. You keep your tail rigid and in place, for paddling it side to side as opposed to up and down like your legs would create unnecessary noise.
Once you are close enough, you lunge with a quick, sharp movement. It doesn't have time to react before you catch it between your fingers and palm.
Triumphantly, you turn to Kiri with your hand raised, failing to notice her growing anger. You swim towards her with enthusiasm.
Fyìp ioang. You sign.
For a moment you think you may be misinterpreting confusion as anger again, but you quickly realize you're interpreting correctly. Kiri pries your fingers apart, freeing the creature who spurts the last of its ink (only a little) and leaves.
Her eyebrows are furrowed, a look you hate, and she points up towards the surface again. You follow, embarrasment beginning to spread through your body.
"You shouldn't be taking animals against their will." She scolds, pointing an accusatory finger at you. Her anger was loud and clear in her voice, loud enough for you to hear.
"Sorry." You purse your lips and mumble so low you can't even hear it yourself, "I was only curious."
She huffs, "Your curiosity doesn't mean you can imprison them just to poke and prod."
"Yeah," You point your gaze down, "you're right."
"Just don't do it again." With that, she begins to swim away, not caring if you follow her.
With shame, you dive back into the water, in search of one of your favorite places to soothe yourself.
She was right, of course, but your curiosity was often one of your driving points. It was why you spent most of your time in the ocean, what kept you entertained underwater. On the other hand, it was also why you'd lost so much of your hearing.

The next morning, on their way to their second lesson, the Sully's find you.
Lo'ak, after yesterday, now understands why Tsireya was lucky to find you before. He thinks they're pretty lucky today, too, as it seems you're going to head into the ocean. "(y/n)!" He calls for your attention, but you don't hear him.
You're just about to dive in, so Lo'ak hurries up to meet you. He catches you by the shoulder. "Hey."
"Hey." You greet him with a smile. "What's up?"
"You left us yesterday. Where'd you go?" He asks curiously.
"I'm sorry, what?" You ask, having not heard him entirely.
"Where'd you go?" He repeats.
Again, you don't hear him. You purse your lips, the shame of not being able to understand people creeping in. "Oh, sorry, I didn't hear you."
"Where did you go?" Lo'ak repeats for the third time, slowing down his speech.
"Look, I'm really sorry–"
Neteyam catches up, slinging an arm over Lo'ak's shoulder. "What my brother means to ask is where you went yesterday, when you were supposed to be teaching us."
"Teach you?" You tilt your head as you think. Did the Olo'eyktan assign you something? Tsireya only took the opportunity because she saw you yesterday. You can't think of anything, though. "What am I supposed to teach you?"
Lo'ak sighs, "When you were teaching us how to free dive?"
The sigh makes you purse your lips. Your stupid ears were making people frustrated again. Still, you couldn't say anything when you didn't understand them. "...what about it?"
Tsireya comes to save you, noticing the struggle between you and the Sully's. "(y/n), here," She begins, pushing Lo'ak's hand off your shoulder, "struggles to hear, if you guys haven't noticed."
She signs to you, taking advantage of the fact they don't know how to sign. Do you want them to know your story?
You shake your head, to which she nods.
"It'd be much appreciated if you guys spoke louder, spoke clearer, and moved your mouths wider." She demonstrates the way they should speak as she instructs them. "It helps him to be able to read your lips until you learn how to sign."
"So he can hear us?" Lo'ak asks.
"Barely." You respond, reminding him that you are in fact in this conversation.
Neteyam nods, rubbing a burn into his brother's scalp. "Sorry, Lo'ak needs to remember these sorts of things."
"Shut up, bro." He pushes his brother away, causing him to skid sideways a few paces.
"(y/n), you would be a great help in teaching them sign language." Tsireya turns to you, signing as she speaks.
You understand, but you purse your lips. "Today? I sort of wanted to explore..."
"Doesn't have to be today, no," She shakes her head, "today is about breathing. If you want to leave, that's perfectly alright."
She smiles at you. Oh, Eywa, you loved Tsireya. She was so kind.
You take her permission and give a wave before diving into the water.
You swim farther into the ocean, trying to wash off your embarrassment with the cool water. It burned in your cheeks, anyway.
When the Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk found out about your hearing loss, you had already reached a point where there was no way to be healed. Everyone blamed your parents, their neglect for your ears and the proper care after a swim. But in truth, you knew you were also to blame.
It had been a long time since you were a burden. The Metkayina accommodated for your hearing loss. You were lucky to be born in the clan who originated the language that didn't require hearing. You had long since come to a comfortable life because of it.
When you realize that the embarrassment won't wear off so easy, you lay down on the sea grass covered sand—or lay down as best you can. The current pushes your head and limbs up.
Your intent was to relax, but the bioluminescent squid from yesterday pops up above you. You react quickly, reaching out and trapping it in your hand again.
You. You sign, awkward because you're one-handed, You embarrassed me in front of Kiri.
You'd missed two of its tentacles in grabbing it. It crosses its arms, giving you attitude, then pointed at you instead. Somehow, you understand.
Alright, fine. You huff, It's my fault. You release the squid, but this time it lingers. You forgive me?
It waves two of its tentacles up and down as if to nod its head.
You pluck a small fish from its school and hand it over as an extra peace offering. Sorry, fyìp.
It stares blankly at your offering. Clearly, it was refusing it, because it was definitely capable of catching that fish on its own. Also, you were ignoring the lesson Kiri taught you. You release the fish, which scurries back to its school, signing sorry again.
Why do you want to hang out with me?
The tentacles at its sides raise up in a shrug.
You lost your group. You purse your lips, extending your hand so that the squid may sit on it, even if it is redundant underwater. Are you trying to find a new one?
It shrugs again, though accepts the spot you give it on your hand.
Well, I suppose we're the same in that. You and I, we're special. I'm hard of hearing, and you're bioluminescent. You laugh inwardly, Although, those are two different things.
Fyìp does a twirl in your hand. It seems pleased.
Alright, let's go. I'll show you some of my favorite places.
☾⋆☆⋆☽
After the Sully's breathing exercises, Neteyam is eager to find you. He dives into the water, both practicing his breathing and speed.
For the third time, he's lucky to find you returning to the village for dinner, this time you were fortunately not caught up in exploring the sea.
Neteyam waves his hand in greeting. You do the same, though you hadn't realized he had more to say.
(y/n). He signs.
Immediately, your eyes light up. Neteyam is delighted.
Who taught you that? You sign. Your hands are a flurry of speed, but he manages to catch the words anyway.
He recognized "you" and "taught" and the distinct lack of "I", so he can assume what you asked. Tsireya. He signs simply, for she hadn't taught him much more than that and your names.
I'll teach you too.
He recognizes "I", "teach", and "you", and understands. He nods excitedly, then points up towards the surface. You follow.
"You're learning." You grin as you surface.
"Yeah." His smile turns bashful, "I want to learn so I can talk to you better." He even exaggerates the movement of his lips so that you may read them.
"Aww, that's sweet." Though you've only known him for so long, you give him a hug. "Thank you."
"No need to thank me." He shakes his head, still holding your elbows gently even as you part from the hug, "It's just what I should do."

Oh, you skxawng! You're late, you're late, you're late!
Too caught up within the serenity that the sea brought you, you had forgotten that you were supposed to be teaching the Sully's sign language!
You swim towards the shore with much hurry. Your body was preoccupied with a mission, to get there fast, and your mind was berating you for being stuck in your head so much. Because of it, you're not exactly focusing on the world around you.
"Oof!" You grunt as you bump into a column. It was one of the ones that supported the Marui pods above.
You pull yourself up onto your elbows on the pathway between pods, spitting out the water you'd caught in your mouth when you bumped so stupidly into a column.
Your squid friend jumps up too, sticking to your leg then climbing up to your shoulder. Its sticky tentacles feel weird on your skin, but you pay it no mind. Instead, you focus on cradling the spot on your forehead where you collided.
When Fyìp lands on your shoulder, you turn to it with a huff and go back to rubbing your head. Then, once you actually notice, you double take back to it.
"You can go above the surface?"
Now, no longer muffled by the water, you can just barely catch its squeal. Huh, so it was making sound all this time.
It twirls around your shoulder as if to say yes.
You turn your head back forward, resting your chin on the pathway. "I'm so stupid–wait." The Sully's and the chief's children are having the lesson quite a few ways ahead of you. They didn't seem to notice you. "It's them."
Fyìp's eyes almost seem to light up when it sees Kiri.
"Gah, should I really be joining them now? I'm so late!" You frown, thinking it over. "I'd be so lost," You narrate your thoughts for Fyìp, "every time I think about something to teach, what if they already taught it? What even is their teaching plan? I shouldn't have gone out today. Should've stayed to talk to Tsireya."
Thanks to your awful hearing and tunnel-vision, you don't notice Fyìp yapping in your ear. Only when it slaps you on the shoulder–it was a small animal, hardly hurt–do you pay attention to it.
"What?" You whine, now rubbing your shoulder.
Fyìp points forward vigorously, pulling its tentacle forwafd and back repeatedly.
"It'll be so embarrassing."
It crosses its arms in front of itself like a no. Even though you're sure it will be, Fyìp's insistence reminds you of your promise to Neteyam. It wasn't broken just yet.
"Okay, fine."
At your affirmation, Fyìp drops back into the water. You follow suit.

Learning a new language, later in your life, was always hard. Although, Jake Sully was the only one in his family with that experience.
"Lo'ak, why are you home early?" Jake and Neytiri rush over to him, sitting down as he does.
"Sign language is so hard." Lo'ak groans, his head down.
"Learning another language is hard," Jake affirms, putting a reassuring hand on his son's shoulder. "but it's like everything else. With practice, you'll get the hang of it."
"At first, he was terrible at Na'vi too." Neytiri grins, causing Jake to roll his eyes.
"Yes, and I became better." He gives her a pointed look, to which she only replies by baring her fangs playfully.
"Well, it's more than that." Lo'ak frowns, looking down at his hands, the very reason he was so different. "I have five fingers! Everyone else has four. Whenever there's a sign that requires fingers, everyone stares at me and Kiri. Their looks are so blank, but I can tell what they're thinking."
"So why didn't you say something?" Jake asks. "It's unlike you to not do anything."
It was a good question that left him silent as he thought. He didn't really know the answer, not as he dug through the surface of his mind. As he searched deeper, he found an answer, but he didn't really want to believe it. "It's because... Tsireya and (y/n) were there."
"And..?" Neytiri prods for him to continue.
"I don't want to disappoint them..." Lo'ak purses his lips, "or be a burden to them."
"Son," Jake places his hands on both Lo'ak's shoulders, causing him to finally look up at him. Jake wanted to be sure that Lo'ak understood the sentiment behind his words. "you're only learning. You can't disappoint them. And if they get upset at you, then that's their fault because they do not understand you and who you are."
"Next time," Neytiri speaks up, catching their attention, "make an arrangement. Find a way to work around it. Alright?"
Lo'ak nods, "Okay."
☾⋆☆⋆☽
Usually, you were the one sought out within the Metkayina if they ever needed you because you were always doing something in the ocean. The sea was vast and cluttered, from seawall terrace to the shore, it was all within the realm of possibility of where you were.
But, for once, you're seeking someone out.
"Kiri!" You call, "I was looking for you."
She emerges from the ocean, ringing the water out of her hair. Too caught up in the sights and feeling Eywa in the sea, she had missed dinner. You could relate to that, so you had to make sure she was taking care of herself.
"What is it?" Kiri asks, treading carefully on her words.
"I saved you some dinner." You hand her a leaf dish of fish.
"Oh." Only once she sees the food does she remember her growling stomach and hunger. "Thank you." She takes the leaf from you gingerly but begins to scarf it down once it's in her own hands.
"It's no problem." You begin, "Sometimes I accidentally skip dinner too. I know the feeling of great hunger in the morning."
Kiri nods in understanding.
"Make sure to get the water out of your ears." You enthusiastically demonstrate by tipping your head to the side and tapping the side of it. "You don't want to end up like me."
Kiri almost chokes on her food. She coughs and puts it on the sand temporarily. "Like you?"
"You know," She doesn't know how you can retain a smile like this. "bad hearing and all."
Ever since you'd lost the majority of your hearing, the adults started using you as an example of what not to do. Not only did they advice the young ones while using your example, they also advised your peers. At first, it was embarrassing, but you began to understand why you were an example and had long since grown used to the embarrassment it brought.
"(y/n), are you using yourself as an example?"
"What?" You tease, "Wanna end up like me?"
"No, (y/n), that's not what I mean." She takes both your hands in hers. "You shouldn't be using yourself as an example of what happens if you don't take care of yourself."
"Why not?" It was pretty normal to you now. You purse your lips, "Everyone uses me as an example. I am what happens if you don't–"
"Because," Kiri breathes out in disbelief, "you're more than an example. You're your own person. You're more than your past mistakes."
"You're right," You snicker at the thought, "just like last time."
"I'm just saying what has to be said." She reassures, rubbing her thumbs over the back of your hands, "Value yourself more."

The trend of you seeking other people out, when it'd always been the opposite before, followed along for Lo'ak.
After your sign language lessons, you retreated into the ocean to clear your thoughts. Now that you had what you were looking for, you had to find Lo'ak, which thankfully doesn't take long.
"Lo'ak!" You call as your eyes find him.
He himself seemed to be searching for you too, so when he sees you, his eyes brighten. He covers the ground between you two quickly. "Hey, I was just looking for you."
"Me too. Do you wanna go first?"
He nods, "I found out a way we can work around my fingers."
"Your fingers?" You tilt your head forward.
"Yeah." He shows them off, wiggling all five for you.
"What about them?"
"Oh," He realizes the question wasn't because you'd somehow forgotten how many he had, but because you hadn't heard the rest of his sentence. He speaks with his mouth wider for you, "I found a way to work around them."
"That's what I was trying to find you for, actually." You snicker, "I found a way to work with them."
"With them?" He hadn't thought it possible.
"Yep." You grin, "Oh, but you were going first. Go on."
"Right, um," Lo'ak lifts one of his hands with the other, up to your view, then he pulls his last finger down. "I was thinking we could tie down my pinkie."
"Your pinkie?"
"My last finger, the smallest, it's called the pinkie."
"Okay, right." You nod.
"Tie it down with like a, um," He snaps his fingers while he thinks. "rope or something until I learn to stop using it."
After hearing his thought, you burst out laughing. It leaves Lo'ak confused. He stands there awkwardly, arms falling down to his sides with a building shame because he can't understand what you were laughing at.
"Sorry, um," You shake your head to wipe the laughter from your face, "that's too cruel, Lo'ak."
"Cruel?" He asks, eyebrows furrowed.
"Yeah, don't you think? It's just like what your sister taught me. We shouldn't take things against their will." You hold his hand to bring it back between the two of you and press his pinkie down against his palm. The force you put on his knuckle and the position is rather uncomfortable for Lo'ak, and it shows in his face. "See?"
"Yeah, you're right." He mutters, then realizes his mistake. "Sorry, I mean, you're right." He enunciates louder and clearer. "Just that... I couldn't really find any other way."
"Well, I was thinking we could just use your middle fingers as a unit." You bring his pinkie back up and press your fingers on his middle fingers, "What do you call them?"
"This is the middle finger," He wiggles it and specifically avoids accidentally showing it off to you, even if you probably don't know what it means. "and this is the ring finger."
"Okay." You nod, understanding quickly. Then, you press your fingers against the ring's left and the middle's right and hold them together. "We can consider these as my middle finger."
You hold your hand up next to his, pulling your other fingers down to show him the middle. He almost laughs and tells you the meaning, but decides it's funnier if you don't know.
"Say, "happen" for example." You use his hand as if it were your own, as yours was holding it, and press the side of yourd against it. Then, you bring it to the side quickly whilst pushing your fingers wide apart. "To mimic my middle finger, you can use your middle and ring fingers together."
"But... wouldn't it be confusing?" Lo'ak argues, looking up into your eyes.
You turn away from him, biting your lip, "Much the same as you're... accommodating for me by learning sign language, we must accommodate for you too. It's only right."
"Accommodate..." He hated that word, and clearly, you were just as ashamed to use it. It had been used all throughout your lives because of your particularities. "Let's not say that."
You turn back up to him, a glimmer of hope within your eyes. "What do you mean?"
"Let's not say we're accommodating for our differences." He turns his hand, the one that rested upon your palm, and uses it to hold yours reassuringly. "Let's just say that we're doing this for each other."
He loves the way your face lights up with a smile. "That sounds good."

Thanks to Tsireya's efforts, the Sully's had learned the ways of the Metkayina.
They were still different, they were Omatikaya, and they and the Metkayina would always have their differences. However, despite their leaner bodies, they could catch up with you in the water; despite other physical differences like smaller lungs, they could stay underwater almost as long as you. They still preferred bow and arrow over spear and ikran over ilu.
Soon enough, they were good enough at free diving that they were allowed to perform their first Iknimaya trial, catching a small shell thrown into the sea.
Of course, it was the first because it was the easiest, the Metkayina completed it when they were young; but still, it called for a celebration.
Ronal denied a coming of age celebration. It was past the season for it, the tulkuns weren't home yet, and the Metkayina didn't know the Sully's enough for it to have any real sentiment.
It didn't matter to you, though. All they really wanted was a celebration with friends (which Ao'nung so gladly volunteered to not participate in).
You brought them into the sea for the celebration. For once, it wasn't a test of their breathing, speed, or swimming form. It was just exploring, enjoying the water; and they hadn't done that since they tamed their ilu.
As you dove into the sea, Fyìp swam to be near you. It seemed unbothered by the stares of awe he received.
Kiri grinned, signing to you, Fyìp ioang?
Yeah! Call him Fyìp now. You offer it a spot on your palm, which it accepts. You thrust your hand forward to show them all. He warmed up to me, forgave me.
Forgave you? Lo'ak signed. After your arrangement, he'd really gotten good at sign language.
Though the celebration was not meant to be a test, it was a great demonstration of how they were on their way to master sign language.
I believe I told you about the lesson Kiri taught me. I caught Fyìp to show it off to her, and she taught me I shouldn't have done so, even through all my curiosity. You nod at the thought, Wise words.
Kiri tucks a hair behind her ear, It just made sense to me. Not something wise or anything.
Sure. You huff out a laugh, then turn around to swim further in. Fyìp clings onto your shoulder.
The sights were already amazing. The Sully's were no longer limited by depth or obstacles now that they knew the way of water, so now they could see everything the sea had to offer.
You turn back to them again with an offer, You guys wanna see one of my favorite places? Knowing that they'll definitely agree, you turn back around and start leading the way.
It doesn't take long before you are standing before a marvel.
It was a cove of coral, fish, and many more ocean creatures. They were all colorful and eye-catching, but the main attraction was the ilu. It was similar to the Banshee Rookery in the Ayram alusìng.
We don't always tame ilu bred from other ilu at the village. Sometimes, we come here, though rarely. You explain.
These ilu were wilder, more aloof, but they still retained their friendly nature with the Na'vi. So long as you do not anger them, we can hang out with them.
The Sully's were practically let loose around the area. As you already knew much of it, you laid down on a rock at the heart of it and simply watched. Fyìp stuck around you, catching stray fish for dinner.
Kiri easily communicated with the ilu. Even if they were already friendly, they seemed even warmer with her.
Lo'ak managed to find the more playful ilu and had somehow gotten himself into a game of tag. He seemed to be one of the runners. He ducked behind coral, up and around rock arches. He was holding his own, despite the ilu naturally being much faster. Tsireya found herself watching too, and was laughing at Lo'ak's panicked face as he narrowly avoided being caught by an ilu.
As Lo'ak and Kiri both found their own things to do, it seemed Neteyam was stuck with Tuk. But she wasn't a burden to him. What kind of big brother would he be if she was?
He held her by the hand and admired some of the smaller creatures with her, although it seemed as though she had other intentions.
She escaped Neteyam's grasp and began swimming away with vigor. For a moment, Neteyam panicked, rushing after her with alarm. However, he soon relaxed once she saw she was going to you.
She waved hello adorably with a grin then signed. As the youngest, she had a bit more trouble with signing, but you understood her. Why do you like being in the water so much?
Well, it's very serene. You reply.
Neteyam caught up. He seemed interested too. Is that it?
You shrug, Sort of. There's some other reasons, but... You took in Tuk's hopeful eyes. She was far too cute to be denied. I could tell them to you.
Please? Will you? She swims closer, holding onto your wrists so that you may still sign.
Perhaps Tsireya rounded them up; otherwise, you have no idea why, as signing doesn't make sound, but they all round up around you. Even Fyìp swims closer.
It was a bit nerve-wracking, having all those eyes on you, but you had grown close to all of them. Nothing bad would come of it if you told them.
Okay.
Tuk's smile grows wider, she swims away so the others can see you too.
Ever since I was a kid, the ocean was so entrancing. It was majestic, a different world from the one above. The other kids my age, they preferred to play with one another. I preferred to explore the ocean. Even though I was hardly used to the world above, I still preferred exploring underwater.
Tsireya taught you that the sea gives and takes. While it gave me a world to love, it also took my hearing because I was negligent towards my ears. Eventually, the sea was more than just the world I loved. It was also the only place I could be normal.
Lo'ak and Kiri listen more carefully when you mention the word normal. It was something they both struggled with.
Everybody needs to sign to speak. You don't need your ears to listen to them, you only need your eyes; and my eyes, I still have. Underwater, I swim and speak and listen just like everyone else.
Tsireya swims closer, a frown on her face. She holds your elbow endearingly, You are just like everyone else.
Yeah, you are. Neteyam does the same, swimming closer. You are Na'vi.
We are Na'vi. Lo'ak signs.
Though we are all different, we are all Eywa's children. Kiri signs. It doesn't matter in what way we are different, my fingers, our blood, your hearing...
Lo'ak's eyebrows... Neteyam signs. Said eyebrows furrow at the teasing. Lo'ak retaliates by squeezing Neteyam's exposed neck, as his brother always does to him. Neteyam pushes him away.
You guys, you all understand. You smile, I'm so sorry that the Metkayina treat you differently.
Lo'ak shakes his head, If it is something we must teach them, we'll make them learn. He smiles, So long as we have great teachers like you and Tsireya to back us up, right?
You roll your eyes–he thinks it's endearing–at him but nod. We'll teach them that we're all the same.
Tomorrow will be a good day for that. Tsireya signs, Let's not forget we are celebrating your first Iknimaya trial.
Fyìp does an encouraging twirl that makes everyone smile.
To tomorrow. You sign.

Floyd Leech
Being in the water is pretty much what he’s always known. When he has to step out of the water and be a human for school, it was hard but he got use to it quickly even before Jade and Azul.
He kinda thought it would be the same for walking to swimming. But, you can’t swim? It was priceless. He knew you hated going into water and didn’t ever step close to the pool in Night Raven.
At some point he was getting bored and he reached for your ankle and pull you in but you straight up kicked him.
“Eh? Why did you kick me…” You couldn’t tell if he was pissed off or just asking a question but you just ran away.
After that he was curious. He just genuinely didn’t know why you didn’t like water and freaked out when he tried to pull you in that one time. Instead of asking directly like a normal person, he picked you up and threatened to throw you into the pool if you didn’t tell him why you don’t like water.
“Shrimpy, how come you don’t wanna swim with me?”
“Because I can’t swim and I can drown!! Please put me down now!”
And after that he would constantly ask you to join him in the water. He promises to not waterboard you on accident!!
If you end up trusting him, he just puts you on his shoulders so you still get air. But he finds it funny how you’re holding onto him for dear life while your whole body is shaking because you’re kinda putting your life in the hands of Floyd Leech.
He’s determined to show you that the water really isn’t scary, even with the possibility of drowning. Then again, what would he know about drowning?

Jade Leech
Also has the same thought process as Floyd but he figures out that some humans can’t swim after seeing a few kids sitting out for swimming class because they don’t know how.
He picks up on you staying far away from the pool even if your friends are inviting you in. In fact you try to skip swimming class almost everyday.
When you’re alone with him he starts to ask questions. Why can’t you swim? Why don’t you try to learn? What would happen if he just threw you in the pool without warning?
You’re scared for valid reasons and he’s just curious. He says that he could teach you how to swim if you really want to learn.
If you agree, he probably won’t teach you really because teaching a human how to swim as an eel won’t work.
He holds you in the water and might accidentally pull you under the water.
“Are you scared?”
“No not at all.”
“Oh, they perhaps you could be in your own for a bit.”
“No, please don’t let go!!”
You’re clinging onto him or otherwise you’d sink to the bottom.

Azul Ashengrotto
It makes sense but he just never thought about it. He had a hard time learning how to walk on land and he wasn’t the fastest swimmer either.
He’s not good with physical activity so he sits with you at the side of the pool unless he had to get in the water. It’s his natural habitat to be in water but it’s embarrassing to be in his octopus form and he’s not as fast as everyone else.
When he realized why you didn’t swim. He sorta felt bad since in chapter three he made you go under the sea even though you’re afraid of being under water.
If you go swimming with Azul, it’s probably safer than either of the twins.
If you were to join him; you wouldn’t have to worry about drowning since he just wouldn’t do that. He makes jokes though! Unlike with the twins, it’s just you two chilling.
He’s a bit slippery since he’s an octopus but he has a lot of tentacles to grab onto or to grab you with.
“I thought I almost lost you there…”
“Ow… You’re kinda squeezing me with your tentacles.”
He’s probably really squishy, I would just fall asleep hugging him.

I forgot how down horrendous I was for Divus until I saw some fanart earlier today.
But that wasn't what I was going to ask, headcannons about the builds of the twst cast? For example, if anyone in particular is muscular or scrawny? - 🐩 anon
Yeah it’s always like this with Divus. You forget about him, and then boom! He is here to attack your eyes with his sexiness lol
It is a good question, Anon, and I had fun thinking about this, but I’ll also leave links to similar hc lists from before:
The one about butts and the one about chests (boys’).
Riddle – very skinny, ribs visible, but not as bad as it used to be a year ago – Trey’s pies help a lot lol But he has some muscles that aren’t visible, but you can still feel them. Mostly his core muscles + thighs. Because you know, horse riding.
Ace – average-looking, has some muscle definition on the upper half of his body?? Like the arms and chest area. Nothing super impressive though.
Deuce – also average-looking with some muscle definition, but in the lower half of his body due to running: his legs are pretty muscular. Both he and Ace have somewhat developed abs, but they aren’t very visible on either of them.
Trey – on a softer side, but still surprisingly muscular. Big chest, thick arms and thighs, sides are a tiny bit squishy. He doesn’t even exercise all that much to develop certain muscles, but he is good at sports + I guess naturally gifted lol
Cater – lean, pretty average, pretty much zero definition anywhere, but also not much fat: he is built like a perfectly flat cylinder lol I know it doesn’t make sense geometrically…
Leona – lean-buff, with visible abs, big chest and arms and stuff. He isn’t as soft as Trey is, but he’s pinchable if you try hard enough.
Ruggie – unfortunately visibly underweight, but also much better that he used to be a year ago. His muscle definition also has gotten much better now that his body has a regular intake of protein and can actually support having them.
Jack – the biggest and the beefiest of boys, he is one of the heaviest in the cast and is almost completely made of muscle lol Huge chest area, huge glutes, huge legs and arms, pecks, everything. But his legs are the most developed muscle-wise.
Azul – lean, with a fairly small waist and stuff, but also pretty muscular. He’s not huge, but his chest muscles are visible, his arms and legs muscles are visible, and his abs too, although the latter ones aren’t always very obviously there. When his muscle mass fluctuates, he loses his abs first. Also his thighs are squishy and soft.
Jade – swimmer build. Broad shoulders, big chest, defined abs, but also not very bulky (I know I draw the Tweels beefy af but still lol). His arms are muscular but it’s not as visible as it is with Jack for example.
Floyd – pretty much the same as Jade, but sliiiiiightly bigger in chest and thighs. No one would even notice unless they compare them side by side.  
Kalim – overall, he is kind of skinny. When he’s just lying around all lazily, he looks soft. When he dances or does anything active, his muscles become visible. He is an enigma of a boy. But in a natural state, his arm muscles are probably the most visible ones. His legs are pretty developed too…
Jamil – sharp shoulders, small waist, lean-muscular build, kinda slim. His thighs and overall legs are very well developed, after his club activities they’re super visible even when he isn’t doing anything. His arm muscles aren’t big, but visible: it’s obvious that he plays basketball.
Vil – lean, not bulky at all, low fat, but also absolutely not underweight?? Also slim, but bigger than Jamil. He balances out his natural features with exercise and diets in a way that it looks very… soft silhouette-wise, but very strong when you start noticing all the muscles. His stomach area, chest and arm muscles are especially visible, but his thighs are also pretty meaty. He tries really hard not to get bulky though, so it’s hard to balance things out.
Rook – bulkier than he looks. I will never get over the fact that he is supposed to be bigger than Trey despite looking smaller and being shorter lol So he is absolutely pretty beefy, with all of his muscles being prominent, but especially the chest and thighs area. He covers all of that pretty well. He also has quite a lot of scars.
Epel –  overall healthy boy, considering his height, just a tiny little bit skinny, but he would like to get bigger in every possible way. There is some muscle definition on his body, but it’s difficult to notice it yet, especially compared to other first years.
Idia –  very skinny. A product of “too busy/lazy to eat”, fast metabolism and a small stomach. He isn’t super too underweight, Ruggie’s situation a year ago was probably worse, but for Idia’s height he absolutely doesn’t take care of himself enough, so his ribs are pretty visible. He also has fairly broad shoulders, but hips on a smaller side.
Ortho –  if he was alive that is; his build would be similar to Idia in a way that he would also have broad shoulders, but with much more meat on his body. Maybe even some muscle definition, because he would absolutely be more physically active than Idia. Maybe he would have a build similar to Deuce’s… if he doesn’t randomly decide to get all jacked and stuff all of a sudden lol
Lilia – zero definition anywhere, seems skinny, as if he doesn’t have any muscles at all, but it’s a false assumption: if he tightens his belly his abs would be visible. But he isn’t as beefy as he used to be when he was younger: he has a much better definition thorough his body back then, with his chest, abs and especially thighs and legs being quite muscular, albeit still lean. Nowadays if someone was to touch him, he’s either soft or flat… But you know, we’ve seen his body basically lol
Silver – one of the better muscularly developed boys of the cast, but not as muscular as Jacks and Sebeks of this world. Still, he is muuuch more muscular than Aces and Deuces… He has round soft shoulders and small waist, but also strong hands and beefy thighs. He is also covered in small scars.
Sebek – BIG BOY, one of the biggest of the cast and still growing. All of his muscles are quite developed, but especially glutes, thighs, chest and arms. He has a very strong core, and he is wider in shoulders than Silver, which is one of the things that he is very proud about. He also has some scars, but not as many as Silver, because he regenerates better than Silver does.
Malleus – a long lizard boy lol his chest and arms muscles are the most pronounced ones on his body, his abs are visible, but the lower part of his body is more on a leaner side; of course that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have noticeable and squishy thighs and butt, they are just not as huge as they could’ve been.
Crewel – he works out sometimes (when he isn’t too hangover to do so), but not to get super bulky: he is in great shape, has good muscle definition on the upper side of his body.
Trein – just grandpa :( Whatever he has underneath his robes will always be a mystery…
Che’nya – top-heavy, but not super muscular, I guess he just has broader shoulders and stuff. His legs seem too long sometimes, he is a bit… weird. But then again, at times he looks like a model lol
Neige –  no muscles, no nothing, just a lean boi that is also somehow soft and “friendly”. Not intimidating at all.
Rollo – a bit too skinny for his height, but not underweight. Broad shoulders, small waist, skinny long legs, also some scars on his body, mostly his back and thighs.

Heaptober Day 1: Forest
No beta, no nothing, just whatever I could get on page on a half hour trainride.
Goes with The Long Way Home, but you don't need to have read that - all you need to know is that it's a role-swap AU in which Jenna got kidnapped by DomDaniel and the Assassin came after the Heaps.
Here's what happened to the rest of the brothers.
Sam dragged himself from the river, grip never loosening from Jo-Jo's awful red-and-white sleeve.
That would be Priority One, he decided: getting them all something to wear that wouldn't stick out from the forest greenery like a signal flare. Except, no: Priority One was getting food and shelter, and making sure the search party - if one was coming after them - wouldn't spot them on the beach.
Except no, because Jo-Jo was shivering in Sam's grasp. They all knew from experience that the no matter how thin the cotton of their uniforms was, it could take forever to dry. So maybe they did all need a change of clothes, though where they were supposed to get those in the middle of the forest, he couldn't say.
A voice pulled Sam Heap from his thoughts. "413," it asked, small fingers tugging at his tunic, "Where's 412?"
Sam jerked up automatically, scanning his surroundings. One, two, three, four, five: plus him meant all the remaining Heap brothers. He hadn't lost anyone. He couldn't have.
There was Jo-Jo, whom he could probably let go of by now. Nicko, who'd been asking the question: only six years old but almost a better swimmer than Simon. Simon. Sam swallowed. "412 isn't here," he said. He wanted to make his voice gentle. It was just -
(I can't leave, Simon had said, looking at him as if he couldn't believe what Sam had asked of him. I'm about to get promoted. And the Supreme Custodian said… Sam hadn't waited to find out what the Custodian had said this time. He'd dragged his brother back under the blankets, holsing him still until the officer outside had passed their dormitory. When the steps had vanished down the hall, he'd slowly loosened his grasp. We need to get the kids out of here, he'd hissed, still so sure that he'd only have to use the right words to make Simon understand. His brother had only shaken his head. I can't leave, he'd repeated, and that had been that.)
"Nicko," Sam said, as solidly as he could. He wasn't sure if Nicko and Jo-Jo even remembered their parents at all. They'd been so young when it all - well. It made sense that they'd be more used to their numbers than their names, but it still made something twist inside Sam. "Simon - 412 - he couldn't come. But we're all out, and noone can take us back, okay? We'll be - like the Wolverines. Awoo."
(In the end, Sam had just been grateful that Simon hadn't told anyone about their plans.)
"Awoo," Nicko repeated dutifully, sounding a bit dubious. "Awoo," Jo-Jo echoed. He just sounded tired.
Right. No more distractions, Sam told himself. He needed to get his brothers somewhere safe. "Um, Sam?" Edd's voice sounded higher than usual. That was… probably bad. "I think we kind of. Kidnapped someone? A little bit?" One, two, three, four, five. Plus Sam was six. Simon was back on the boats somewhere, hopefully keeping his mouth shut. Septimus was - dead, or alive, or who knew what, but certainly not here. So who -
In the light of the midnight moon (it's always safest around midnight, his mother had told him, back when they'd all been a family) Sam saw Jo-Jo, and Nicko, and the twins. And between them, a smaller shape. No taller than Nik was. Smaller, maybe. "Four-oh-nine?" Jo-Jo asked sleepily. The kid nodded. He was staring up at Sam with wide eyes. It reminded Sam of how they'd all looked at the Hunter, or Catchpole, or any of the adults who had been around them since Sarah had died and Silas had vanished: fear, and uncertainty, and knowing that nothing you could do would the stop them from doing whatever they wanted.
Sam crouched down, making himself eye-level with the kid. "I'm sorry," he said. He meant it, too. He'd tried hard to make sure his scheme wouldn't endanger anyone. "I didn't mean to drag you into this." The kid shook his head. No. "I think he jumped," Erik admitted. Sam frowned. "Did you?" Very slowly, the kid nodded. "…do you want to stick with us?" He didn't have much of a choice, really. It was that or staying alone at the edge of the forest, waiting for a search party that might never come. 409 nodded twice, thrice. Seven times. "Alright," Sam said. "Siblings stick together, alright? You can be our little brother." It would be almost like being all seven again, Sam thought. Not quite, maybe. But he was pretty sure that this was the first time this kid had ever smiled.
So maybe - just maybe - it would all turn out okay.

At the age of three, she was as precious as a little girl could be. His sweet baby Joany. The thought of being a father had only crossed Eddie's mind twice in his entire life. The first time was during his first marriage to Sabrina, a Sid and Nancy kind of love; that's what they had. All of it built off the back of childhood trauma, and his Upside Down padded on top of it like the cake cherry. They spent two years in a drink and drug-filled maelstrom, partying, more drinking and drugs, sex, arguing, and sex again. Sabrina fed into his insecurities and fears; she also thumped him a few times. But he still convinced himself that it was all part of love. So, naturally, when Sabrina suggested they have a baby after their sham of a wedding, it made sense. What else should two people who were newly married do? If he'd been himself, sober Eddie. He wouldn't have considered it. Unfortunately, a few tests made it clear his swimmers weren't exactly Hawkins High swim team material, and Sabrina made sure he knew it was all his fault. With Madison, his second and current marriage, although that felt slippery since they spent so much time apart. Everything had been an accident. Eddie had been open about his infertility, and she took it in stride with a stunning smile that made him weak at the knees, made him love her more. Then she fell pregnant after four years of not trying, and he'd been stunned to silence. His nerves were shredded for nine entire months, only quelled by late-night calls to Robin or Steve or drinking sessions with the two where he let all his fears spill out. But it was worth it for the moment when Eddie first saw her head of dark curls, with eyes to match, and her tiny fingers that grasped at his ringed ones. He fell in love again; this time, it would stick forever.
Everyone loved Joan. Of course, they did. They doted and cooed over her; Eddie would be pissed if they didn't because she was his entire world, even more so than his global rock star status. Joany deserved every bit of love and affection from her father's overgrown found family of misfits and weirdos. But he felt that no one loved Joany more than her uncle Stevie. And as Eddie watched the two playing together on Californian beach sand, he stood by that notion stronger than ever before. Steve was a natural when it came to kids, though Steve said the same about him whenever Eddie brought it up. He smiled at the scene, scooting over the warm sand to the spot where Steve and Joan were building a sandcastle together. "Is King Steve getting the peasants to build a castle for him? The scandal. This is child labour, Steve." The tease evident in his tone. It often came out when around, always had. It was just how they communicated, with affectionate ribbing. "You're gonna have to protest about this, kiddo. Fight the power for your people." Joan looked up at him from behind a fringe of messy curls. It should probably get a cut soon. She crinkled her button nose, looking between her uncle and father for a grain of understanding; sometimes, dad's words didn't make sense to her. With a shake of her curly-haired head, Joan returned to her task and said in her sweetest voice. "This castle is for me. Not uncy Steve." Laughter poured from Eddie's lips, and he ruffled her darling little head. "Atta girl. You don't need a man to make your castle."
He left his daughter to build her empire in a lavender polka-dot swimsuit, which was very non-conformist of her if he said so himself. Eddie turned his attention to Steve just in time to see that sad smile on his friend's face. Steve's eyes were covered by some snazzy-looking shades, but he could picture the expression in them, not entirely happy, not quite sorrowful, beautiful in a way that was simply Steve Harrington. He knew the other man wanted a kid of his own bad and had been denied that by an ex-wife who hadn't wanted any. Which was fair game to her but not cool to do to someone who dreamed of being a dad. Eddie leaned toward Steve until they were bare shoulder to shoulder. "You got plenty of time," was all he said before handing Steve a beer from the cooler. They watched Joan for a while in comfortable silence. She appointed Steve as head decorator during that time, and dear old dad got named the court entertainer, which he embraced by regaling his daughter with a tale or two about the past where he and Steve had fought monsters together. Joan had that look on her face that said she wasn't sure whether to believe him, but she made herself a throne in her uncle's lap and listened to the stories anyway with a carton of apple juice from the cooler. She kicked her feet about every so often, always unable to keep completely still, just like her old man, and stuck her carton up in Steve's face when done with it, pouting at him for more in a bold attack on the man's soft heart.
Clever, Eddie thought. But kinda rude.
While Eddie hated to scold her. There were moments when it couldn't be avoided; this was one of them. He didn't want a daughter that made demands of other people. But before he could find that voice buried deep within him, of course, Steve had already fetched Joan another juice happily and foolishly said out loud how he'd spoil her rotten if he got the chance. Ah, the prey falls for the predator's trap. His clever girlie was gonna remember that when her uncle least expected it and very likely when her father wasn't around to say otherwise. They'd be talking about that later.
Eddie let the moment go with a sigh, though he shook his head at Steve while smiling. "You've only gotten softer with age, man. Your own kids are gonna have you wrapped around their little fingers at conception." As if Joan didn't have Eddie partially wrapped around hers, and he would deny it if anyone said otherwise, or maybe not. He shifted onto his stomach atop Joan's matching polka-dot towel in front of his daughter and her beloved uncle, puckering his lips for a kiss. But instead of that, Eddie got a chewed straw accompanied by an empty juice carton and girly giggling. A look of feigned distraught came over him as a hand went to his chest before he pretended to die of heartbreak right there on the California sand.
Steve was the first to jump into action. Announcing that the only way to save dad was to chuck a bucket of seawater over him, and the two partners in crime ran off towards the ocean, with a bucket in tow, Joan still giggling maniacally ( she really was too much like him ). Bastard, Eddie thought to himself amusedly. But he was willing to let the scenario play out for both Steve and Joan's benefit. It made her happy to be a miniature devil, and he wasn't about to curb that sort of behaviour. As for Steve, messing around with Joan had seemingly brought him out of his sadness cocoon from earlier. He wanted to keep that momentum going and ensure their beach day ended on a high note.
One dark eye flickered open to watch two souls very dear to his heart splash about in the water. Steve lifted Joan into his strong arms and then dunked her in a tiny wave as it came to shore. She squealed, then wriggled out of his arms to splash him back while bossily pushing him further into the water so he'd be easier to take down. Yep, way too clever. Eddie kept watching them with a smile on his lips until Steve had finally been defeated by Queen Joan of The Sandcastle with a devastating soaking; no doubt Steve grieved for his hair. And Joan, she came running back to her dad, escaping her devious crime with half a bucket of water ready for him. He was still smiling when he closed his eyes ready for the inevitable.

Headcanon Time!
Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh I’m writing for Naruto again!
Kisame Headcanons
NSFW under the cut so Imma need the minors to not go under there. Thnks. 
Very polite, mhm. 
This is kind of canonical, but I just wanna emphasize how polite Mr. Hoshigaki is. He will kick your ass in training and then tell you to have a good day and genuinely mean it. 
He’s also just not very judgmental, which is probably due to how he was raised. 
I headcanon that Kisame had a very country, almost hilly-billy like family. In canon, there are no Hoshigaki names on memorials in his village; they’ve been expunged. I don’t know why but that’s some Hatfield-McCoy type shit. The Hoshigakis were menaces to society for no particular reason, and Kisame just had to go with the family.
After seeing what he’s seen, yeah Kisame is not judging you at all. 
Talks to Samehada and knows its responses like the back of his hand.
I think the bond to Samehada and its user works similarly to Venom and Eddie Brock. 
That shit is a symbiote and you cannot change my mind. 
A FULLY SENTIENT SWORD?? THAT HAS FOOD TASTE PREFERENCES??? yeaaaaahhh your honor, that’s a symbiote. 
Sometimes, who Kisame trains with is dependent on what chakra Samehada has a taste for that day. Kisame definitely soils her. Talks to her like a dog when no one is looking. 
Itachi has seen it. He says nothing, but he think it’s cute. 
Because of the bond between him and Samehada, I think Kisame can kind of taste chakra, too. He’s been bonded to the sword so many times that he has some of its powers even when not formally bonded together.
Kisame can swim, but he can’t fish.
 It makes no sense, but Kisame is terrible at fishing. He isn’t all that patient, and sedentary activities like that don’t strike his fancy all that much. 
Itachi is convinced that sometimes Kisame scares the fish away on purpose. 
As for swimming, Kisame, of course, is a strong swimmer, but did you know that wasn’t always the case? 
Kisame couldn’t swim all that well until he hit the ninja academy. I definitely think his family just chucked him into the water, and poor baby was pretty sure he was drowning until he remembered his gills. 
I think the “fussy, nervous kid growing up into a laid-back adult” trope is just funny, and it fits Kisame in my mind. 
Instigatorrrrrrrr. 
Again, pretty canonical, but one of Kisame’s favorite hobbies is starting shit. 
The rest of the Akatsuki is sooooo used to hearing him pipe up,” You just gonna take that?” during an argument. 
Itachi tries to get him to stop with one of his patented “Uchiha glares” but pouring fuel on a fire is too good for Kisame sometimes. 
Besides, he doesn’t do it often. More of just messing around. The Akatsuki is really the first place Kisame has been more comfortable of being himself and not just a weapon or tool, so his personality really has a tendency to chime through when he finds something funny amongst the members. 
In addition to this, Kisame also is very physical in a big-brother way. Very much will give Deidara a noogie. Is also the king of the shoulder-bump thing guys do when they pass you. Kisame is your annoying frat-brother confirmed. 
To go with the above, Kisame has not had many friends.
He didn’t allow himself to have friends. Thought they were liabilities. 
As such, even though Kisame will consider you a friend in his mind, he will be very independent. 
This is because he still struggles with the “shinobi have no friends” mentality, and because he doesn’t want his friends to think he can’t handle himself. 
To Kisame, if he isn’t firing at 500%, he isn’t good enough and other people will think that as well. 
Pls tell him he’s good.

honestly, it wasn't your fault you didn’t have any family members or friends with a big pool you could learn in growing up 
and by the time you did, you were too much of in an awkward phase to be properly taught

but after several trips to the beach with friends and attending different pool parties, you were tired of being made fun of !!

“use my finger as your reference of when to go up, but come up for air whenever you feel like you need to. it’s important to go at your own pace, so don’t feel pressured to get it the first try”

you sink your head underwater, mentally counting the three seconds before going back up 
“good job,” he gives you a high five, and you almost feel like a schoolgirl, “now let’s try to five seconds”

now why were these seconds going by slow all of a sudden? 
sucking it up you manage to make it to 10, but not without being out of breath

nodding your head, you enthusiastically say, “let’s go for 15″ 
he smiles at your enthusiasm

immediately you make your way back to the surface, trying to catch your breath

“okay now that we have that done, we can move onto learning how to float facing both front and back”

as if your blush couldn’t get any deeper 
“now my personal belief is that all humans can naturally float, just that for others, it takes a bit of a push to get them at that state,” he begins to explain

“the key to floating is to relax” 
oh you’ve heard that before
many MANY times and each time you’ve tried to so called “relax” you just end up sinking 
“the moment you fight or stress for even a tiny bit, you will sink. now i know what you’re thinking, ive heard that before”

he was good 
“but sadly it’s true, until you learn to relax then you’ll be able to swim” 
you sigh 
this was where it became hard 
you were the queen of stress 
you and stress went hand in hand almost like a married couple 
it was just that deep water was scary !! very very scary !! 
the amount of horror stories you’d seen on tiktok was enough for you to know, ocean = scary 
“so here’s what i need you to do, i need you to place your arms on top of the water like as if you’re going to fly” 
you follow his commands 
he separates your arms, which had been too close together, giving them a small rub 
“remember you need to relax y/n,” he chuckles, feeling the tension in your arms
“relax, i need to relax,” you repeat 
“okay now right now when i tell you, you’re gonna take a deep breath in and look down, from there you’re gonna let you body move forward. so remember you’re not gonna jump, you’re just gonna let your body glide forward and float. almost as if you’re flying to me,” he explains 
mm it was easier said than done  
“you ready?” 
“okay deep breath in” 
you inhale a deep breath in 
“look down” 
you do that as well 
“and let go” 
slowly your body begins to rise on its own 
oh my god !!!!! 
you were about to float!!!!! 
the day has come !!!
no more staying at 5 feet and under 
you were ready to hang with the big kids :D 
but as quick as the momentum came, the faster it left because soon you felt yourself sinking, the breathing exercise jungkook had made you do now coming in handy 
no!!!! 
you almost had it :( 
it was right in your grasp, only to have it snatched away 
not wanting to offend you, jungkook keeps his giggles to himself 
“hey at least you almost had it,” he comforts you, “let’s just try again” 
you sigh, now letting your doubts creep in 
because of this, this time your body almost immediately sank this time
he frowns 
you were losing confidence :/ 
“come on i’ll help you” 
grabbing your hands, he signals for you to follow his breathing pattern
“deep breath in” 
“deep breath out” 
god, was his voice soothing 
“i need you to relax y/n, let everything go” 
a soft feeling of relaxation washes over you, similar to that feeling you’d get when you were on the verge of sleeping
“i’m gonna let you go at the count of three, and then you’re going to float, okay?” 
silently you nod, knowing that speaking would only cause you to tense up again 
“1...2....” 
he lets go, and soon you’re floating, just like he said you would 
you hold your breathe for a good while before standing back up, a huge smile on your face 
“holy shit! i did it!!” 
he gives you high five with both of his hands, for a second holding them before letting go 
“now let’s try floating on your back” 
he notices that there’s now a fire in your eyes that wasn’t there before
clearly you were now more determined to learn, excited too
preparing yourself to float once more, you realize you were missing something.... 
“jungkook...” 
he tilts his head, confused by the faint blush on your cheeks 
“do you think you can um—” 
now it was his turn to blush

“okay so now that you know how to float, right now when you float facing downward, you’re going to pull against the current with your arms, alternating each one. now the tricky part is that while you do that, you also have to paddle your legs a little and come up for air when you need to, and when you’re back in the water you should slowly be exhaling bubbles of air rather than holding your breath” 
well that sounded hard :/ 
“let me give you a demonstration,” jungkook says
he’s quick to float facing downward, showing you the maneuver he wanted you to learn while coming up for air every five seconds
thought it was a little childish, he somehow still looked good doing it 
he truly was blessed with the looks of a god 
he comes out the water
“okay now your turn” 
you nod your head, that determined look you had on your face last week now returning 
following his example, you begin your attempt at paddling and stroking your arms at the same time
SPLASH! SPLASH! SPLASH! 
immediately you begin to panic and water begins to splash everywhere, including on jungkook 
noticing your panicked state, jungkook is quick to grab you and place you back on your feet 
“hey hey, i got you,” he comforts you, not wanting you to feel discouraged 
you sigh

well that was embarrassing 
“remember y/n you have to learn to coordinate everything, so think of it this way. your legs have to always be paddling, it’s the arm and coming up for air that switch roles. when you come up for air, it’s only your legs paddling, while when you’re head is back underwater it’s both your legs and arms paddling. once you get that pattern, the bubbling will come naturally” 
you make an ohhhhh face
you could do that ! 
“remember what i told you last weekend y/n, you need to relax and be comfortable so you can build confidence. there’s no need to panic because i’m here,” he smiles at you

once you were out of breath, you stand back up, a grin on both of your faces 
for jungkook it was hard not to tackle you in excitement so instead he settled for a very enthusiastic high five 
“you did it!” he cheers 
“ahhh!” you giggle like a child 
“from here on out, the rest is a piece of cake!” 
yay yay yay !!! 
“now let’s start working on deeper strokes, maybe we’ll even have time to throw in backstrokes!”

this week was the final week of swimming lesson with jungkook
:(( 
last week’s lesson of treading water and perfecting your swim seemed to had gone by in literally the blink of an eye ! 
and so today was possible the last time you’d see jungkook unless you managed to grow the balls and ask him out once that clock hit 4, once you were no longer his “student"
by now you were 100% sure you liked the dude... like a lot 
and he was definitely someone you wanted to get to know outside of this pool 
you just weren’t sure if he liked you the same way 
you mean yeah there were definitely times that had you raising an eyebrow here and there, but you always excused it as him simply being a kind hearted person by nature 
because clearly his five star rating on the company’s website had to come from somewhere 
not that you checked or anything....
who were you kidding 
yes you did
your favorite review was the one that went..
“wow!! this dude is amazing !! came here for beginner lessons and even i found myself fawning for the dude , and i don’t even play for that side of the team !! not only were his lessons thorough, but he’s a very charming person ! 10/10 recommend!” 
and so you were stuck 
did he liked you or was he just treating you like he treated everyone?? 
“ahh y/n,” jungkook’s voice suddenly brings you back to reality 
“today’s our final lesson!” he announces, not sounding too sad
in fact he sounded excited

he playfully jumps into the pool, today being his so called “fun day” 
“so since today’s your last lesson i thought i could teach you how to do a.....” 
he pauses for dramatic purposes

immediately your eyes light up 
ahhhhhHHHH!!!! 
you always wanted to learn how to do a somersault in water, remembering the number of times you’d look at your friend in jealousy whenever she did one 
“you ready??” 
eagerly you nod your head yes
“okay so the steps to doing a summersault is first of course, you need to take a deep breath” 
okayyyy 
“from there you tuck your chin to your chest, next you do the moment of the somersault by swinging your chest forward and gently kicking out your legs, so basically forming a ball and then kicking out.  naturally, if you have enough momentum, you’ll spin, but if you don’t just use your arms to complete it” 
“think you can give me a demonstration?” you innocently ask 
he winks at you, “of course i can” 
taking in a deep breath, he follows his own instructions, and you watch he perfectly executes his somersault 
“woahhh, that was so cool!” you say, even now finding the trick to be amazing 
“now i dont expect you to get it right away, so right now that you try i’m going tog hide you thought the movement so you get the gist of it” 
sounds fair enough 
you weren’t trying to drown on your last day either 
“okay, you ready?” 
“yes” 
“let’s get it!” 
taking a deep breath in, you feel jungkook’s hand get placed on your back, ready to push you so you could do the somersault 
“1...2...” 
and slowly you feel yourself spin with the help of jungkook, a smile already forming on your face 
“ahhh!” you smile big and wide, causing Jungkook to smile along with you 
“you think you’re ready to try it on your own???” 
“yes sir” 
“okay 1....2....” 
mustering up as much as force you possible could, you push yourself into ball and successfully do the somersault 
YUPPPPP 
WHOSE DOING IT LIKE YOU???!$%@$!
feeling an immediate rush of adrenaline, you begin to splash water all over once you come back up for air, declaring an all out water fight with jungkook 
soon the two of you are chasing one another, you now using your new swimming abilities to get away 
hehe 
you’re a swimmer 
:D 
the sound of jungkook’s infectious laughter fill the air and soon you feel him grab your waist at an attempt to stop you 
“gotcha” he says, and he turns you around to face him 
slowly each other’s heavy breathing becomes relaxed, and it’s as if you’ve felt a shift occur in what you considered your new “friendship” 
“so....” he awkwardly says, hands still wrapped around your waist 
his was was RED
like cherry tomatoes red 
this only makes you giggle 
if you had doubts before, you DEFINITELY didn’t have em anymore 
he liked you :)))) 
and you liked him :)))) 
and in ten minutes you were officially no longer his student so......
“there’s this new restaurant that opened near my place....” you say 
immediately his eyes light up 
“cancun eats?” 
you nod your head and he gives you a toothy grin 
“i was wondering if you’d want to go out some time...” you muster up the courage to ask him out

you liked him!!! 
he wasn’t just delusional !!! 
“hello?? jungkook??” you laugh, waving a hand in front of his face for jungkook.exe had truly stopped working this time 
nodding his head yes like a child,  the two of you being to lean closer to another, the clear goal in mind being each other’s lips
because honestly you’d come this far now, might as well give him a .... 
“wait!” he suddenly interrupts  he glances at the digital clock on the wall, remembering your final lesson officially ends at 4
because no way in hell was he going to get fired for kissing a student on the clock

My complicated opinion on Keith Kogane

Keith Kogane is definitely one of the more popular characters in the VLD fandom. People love brooding emo bad boys.
My feelings on Keith are... complicated. I definitely don’t hate him. I have a lot of problems with the character but I don’t think I could ever bring myself to actually hate him. Mainly because I kinda relate to him. We both have problems controlling our emotions, interacting with people, and making friends.
And we both have trouble believing there are people who truly have our best interests at heart and won’t abandon us because we’re a burden.
What I do hate is the way his character was written and the way it negatively impacted the characters around him.
There are definitely a lot of factors that contributed to VLD ending up the way it did. But to me, Keith and the writers insistence on pushing him to the forefront was the poison that killed the show.

Ok, before we get into this whole rant I feel like I should talk about the things I do like about Keith.
I like the premise of Keith’s character. He’s half Galra and never really fit in on Earth. He didn’t act like the other “normal” kids so kids made fun of him and adults didn’t want to deal with him. So in order to protect himself from the pain of rejection he would put up a tough angry facade and push people away and reject them before they could reject him.
This is something that really resonates with me personally having grown up neurodivergent. It’s awful growing up in a world that isn’t made for people like you and not knowing how to interact with or connect with your peers. Especially when you don’t know why you’re like that.
You learn to avoid social interaction because it always ends up negative. You put up walls because you don’t feel like anybody understands you or what you’re going through.
I know the writers probably didn’t intend to code Keith as neurodivergent. They just wanted Keith to be a hothead with abandonment issues, but nonetheless, this interpretation means a lot to me.

I also really like his relationship with Shiro. Keith is so used to being left behind and abandoned that when he meets someone like Shiro who’s patient and genuinely cares it’s new and strange. He’s so ready for Shiro to abandon him, even telling Shiro to send him back to the home, but Shiro refuses to leave him and tells Keith ethat he’s never going to give up on him.
It’s also interesting to see how their relationship develops over time. It’s clear Keith trusts Shiro, but you can tell that that fear of abandonment is still there deep down. In S2, Keith tells Shiro that he’s like a brother to him, and then in season 6, he takes the extra step and tells Shiro that he IS his brother and that he loves him. And for someone like Keith, telling their friend they love them is a big scary thing.
And also it’s just great to see a platonic “I love you,” especially between two guys. Don’t be afraid to tell your bros you love them!!!

Now let’s talk about the stuff I didn’t like.
Keith doesn’t have much going for him in terms of personality. He’s just sorta brooding and serious all the time. He does make jokes occasionally but it’s rare. The writers were more focused on making him cool and badass rather than fun.
I always loved the idea of Keith as a cocky carefree asshole who doesn’t give a shit about rules/laws and is kinda rude/aggressive but has a heart of gold deep down and would do anything for the people he cares about. (Just like a cat.)
I would also make him more alien esc. In terms of design I like the idea of Keith having red eyes with narrow pupils and fangs. And also just small things like the way he walks and holds himself. He growls and bears his teeth when he’s angry, his hair puffs up when scared, he’s fast and agile, disappearing and reappearing without making much noise, small things.
Then you have his race and sexuality. I have no doubt in my mind that Keith was intended to be a straight white dude. A lot of people see him as gay and Asian but there’s no evidence for this in canon. Acxa was originally intended to be his love interest and his race was never mentioned in canon. His name isn’t even Kogane in canon. (And the race of the voice actor doesn’t equal the race of the character. If that was the case Shiro, Hunk, and Lance would be white.)
They should’ve totally made Keith Japanese like he was in the original. It would’ve been so easy! Just canonize Kogane as his last name and have the book say he’s half Japanese half Galra. They could’ve also done what they did with Shiro and keep his og GoLion name. Just have him be Akira Kogane. Definitely cooler than “Keith.”
And as for his sexuality, I definitely think they should’ve had Keith be gay. But well get to that Later...

I also don’t like how they handled the whole Krolia thing. Not only was it crazy rushed, but it completely goes against the shows theme of found family.
Keith’s arc should’ve been about overcoming his abandonment issues and learning to accept the paladins as family. But instead they just get rid of the abandonment issues by just giving him his mom back.
I know a lot of people love Krolia but I don’t feel like she should’ve been introduced in anything other than flashbacks. Because Keith’s mom isn’t really that important. The show is about found family and friendship, not blood relation.
You can definitely have Keith learn about his mom and his family, but I feel like giving him his mom back was too much.
Personally, I always headcanoned that Kolivan was Keith’s grandfather or just a close friend of Krolia’s, and when Keith showed up at the Blade’s base Kolivan recognized the blade as his Krolia’s. Keith could learn about his mom through Kolivan telling him about her, how she was a great person and warrior who died fighting to make the universe a safer place for her son.

Another thing I didn’t like was the whole Keith leaving the team for the Blades thing. I know why he did it, he felt like the team was gonna reject him, he wanted to be more useful, and wanted to learn about his family, but I feel like you could’ve touched on all that without having him abandon his team.
One of the biggest problems with the show is that they did a bad job at establishing the paladins as friends, they feel like coworkers more than anything, and I feel like Keith being absent for two seasons contributed to that.
And his absence is hardly addressed. The team forms Voltron perfectly without him and no one ever says they miss him. Keith doesn’t even seem like he missed them after being gone for two years.
And a lot of the weight was taken out of that Keith v Kuron fight by the fact that Keith and Kuron hardly interacted.
That whole thing amounted to four things, Keith meeting Krolia (which I don’t think should’ve happened), them finding the colony (which was a dumb plot I don’t think should’ve happened), Keith aging up two years (which was weird and unnecessary), and Keith meeting Kosmo (which is... complicated).
I don’t think this plot was necessary. Keith should’ve stayed with his team.

Then you have his relationship with Lance. I know people are very sensitive about this topic. People have very strong opinions about whether or not Keith and Lance were intended to be romantically coded.
Personally, I do like Klance but I don’t believe they were romantically coded. I think if you want them to get together some things would have to go differently.
For example, the bonding moment. In canon, Lance tells Keith, “we make a good team.” I don’t see this as referring to him and Keith. I think he was talking about the whole team. If you want it to be about the two of them, I feel like it should be Lance telling Keith something like, “ya know, you’re not so bad after all,” and then Keith smiles and responds, “you’re not so bad yourself.”
Another example could be the scene where Lance comes to Keith with his insecurities. (Whether it’s as a leader or a friend.) This scene was weird in canon, Lance comes to Keith for advice and Keith basically tells him to just stop thinking about it.
I would prefer if Lance brought up to Keith how he doesn’t feel like he’s good enough or that he doesn’t have, “a thing,” and Keith is completely dumbfounded like, “what are you even talking about?” He goes on about all the good shit about Lance. Talks about how Blue chose him, how he’s a great shot, how he’s good at dealing with people, meanwhile Lance is standing there in shock as Keith says all these nice things about him.
Over all you would just have to develop their relationship more. More meaningful interactions. And if you want the relationship to be romantic you would have to establish that early on. Establish that one or both has romantic feelings for the other in like S1/S2 because if you wait too long it’s gonna feel forced/out of no where.

And then... you have the Black Paladin arc... I’m gonna be real with y’all, this is the arc that killed the show for me, for a few reasons.
One, even ignoring the whole quintessence bond thing, it makes no sense for Keith to be the bp. He doesn’t fit the role. I adore Shiro but choosing Keith as his successor was a dumb move. I get that he saw potential in Keith but they’re are fighting a war, there’s no room for favoritism.
Shiro should’ve chosen Allura as his successor. Not only does she have actual leadership experience, but you would only have one paladin in a new Lion instead of three.
If a lifeguard breaks his leg and can’t work, he should choose an experienced swimmers to take his place, not his little bro that’s still in water wings in the hopes that it’ll teach him to swim.
Two, Keith being the bp doesn’t help his arc. Keith’s arc is about overcoming his abandonment issues and learning to be a team player, he doesn’t need to be the leader for that.
VLD should’ve been about the paladins growing into the best versions of themselves they could be. Their development shown by unlocking new abilities in their respective lions, new forms for their bayards, and new Voltron bayard power ups. They shouldn’t have to change lions and themselves.
Keith and Red have a strong bond and work great together. Keith and Red are both temperamental, unpredictable, and have issues with trust. Keith having to fight to get Red to trust and open up to him mirrors how others have to fight to earn Keith’s trust and get him to let down his walls.
It would’ve been interesting to see them grow together. Keith has no emotional connection with Black.
We never even get to see them bond. Keith just suddenly becomes the “perfect” bp/leader because he got over his mommy issues
Three, it’s a MASSIVE disservice to Shiro’s character. Shiro put all the work in earning his position as the bp, he literally fits fought Zarkon on the astral plane to earn her trust, yet Keith is the true bp? What?
It sucks. Sendak told Shiro that a monster like him could never be a paladin and the writers went and proved him right. Hell Shiro didn’t even get to kill Sendak, Keith got that too.
And don’t tell me, “but he got the Atlas!” REALLY!? A massive Deus ex machina that required absolutely no effort from him to acquire!? Filled with a bunch of rando background characters no one gives a shit about!? You’re totally right, that 100% makes up for it.
I could go on and on about how the treatment of Shiro in this show (and fandom) is blatantly ableist but that’s a rant for another time.

It sucks. I want to like Keith! He had the potential to be an amazing character but the writers just kept on trying to turn him into something he wasn’t and it ruined him for me.
They kept trying to turn Keith into the main character and ignored that ALL the paladins are the main characters. It’s an ensemble cast! You don’t have to have everything come back to one guy.

What I think is a good plot twist
The other day on Discord some people were discussion what a good plot twist is for them. It made me think I have been wanting to do a post on the subject for a long time. So here it is!
Before we begin, the example I took is a major spoiler from Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyoushitsu in Japanese).
Also remember it's just my point of view.

This is the plot twist I always take as an example when I want to explain what a good plot twist is, at least from my point of view.
The story
First let's see what Assassination Classroom plot is:
Class 3-E is a special class in a high school: it's composed of students who are considered "failures" and are bullied. They have class on a separated building. One day, they get a new teacher: a yellow big octopus with a smiley face (that will be called "Korosensei" after) that wants to destroy the moon at the end of the school year. He wanted to teache Class 3-E so the government agreed and asks the students to kill him to save the world. But Korosensei is a good teacher and actually helps his students by teaching them things they need in life by being their target. One day, a student called Kayano reveals that she wants to kill Korosensei to avenge her sister. To do so, she joined Class 3-E and implanted herself tentacles similar to Korosensei's to rise her chances of killing him.
Why this one and not another
So the plot twist is "Kayano has tentacles and she is not who we thought".
It happened in chapter 128 "Storm Time". Yusei Matsui couldn't have chosen a better title: fans were yelling from astonishment. (It's the reason I started reading Assassination Classroom) Some were saying it came out of nowhere. But some others were like "Hold on. It's the same guy who wrote Majin Tantei Neuro, he gotta have left us hints from the beginning".
There was a fan back then who noticed a few strange things that didn't make much sense before chapter 128.
To this person, thank you.
Without their post I would probably have thought it was just a regular plot twist coming out of nowhere.
What we knew about people with tentacles before the plot twist
Through the story, we learned many things on people using tentacles:
They can't swim
They love sweets
They tend to like big boobs as we see them reading special books
If unmaintained, tentacles cause extreme pain to the holder and can cause their death. So you need a strong mind and/or resolve
Tentacles enhance their senses
Their mental and physical abilities are lowered so you need to be smart to get tentacles

It's best to implant tentacles on the neck, near the neuronal system
Tentacles can be hard to control, especially when the holder looses their self-control
Tentacles develop differently depending on what the holder wants to be
There is a guy called Shiro that knows a lot on tentacles and even "takes care" of a boy with these tentacles. And he doesn't like Korosensei for some reason
When he enters the classroom for the first time, this guy looks at the protagonist, probably because he noticed the protagonist has a powerful bloodlust and possesses talent for assassination
And some other things that aren't interesting for this post.
What we knew about Kayano and Class 3-E
We also get to know Kayano a little through the story:
She's a bad swimmer. She even had to be rescued because she fell from her rubber ring in a pool
She loves sweets, especially pudding
She's smart enough to use all kind of scientifical knowledge to make a giant pudding
She and the protagonist are good friends and we often see them together
She's good with kids. She even performed well the role of a princess in a play they setup for them
Once she has a goal in mind she doesn't stop until she reach it
She only joined the class at the beginning of the school year while most of her classmates were already in 3-E
She usually hates/envies people with big boobs

She has bad grades and is bad at sports
Her seat is next to the protagonist's
We also learn something about the school: a new student once broke a trophy in the chairman's office and was sent directly into Class 3-E. On their very first day.
Let's highlight the hints
You probably figured out what were the _hints_by them but let's sum them up because some may be unclear:
Tentacles holders can't swim / Kayano says she's a bad swimmer -> She lied to not raise suspiscion but we can clearly see she can't swim
Tentacles holders love sweets / Kayano eats a lot of sweets (it's some sort of cliché in animes, mangas and video games)
They love big boobs / Kayano hates big boobs -> That's how we fans interepreted the 2 known tentacles holders but it wasn't clearly stated that tentacles cause the holder to like boobs. It's later said that instead they enhance the holder's strong (hidden) fixation
They need a strong mind/resolve to endure the pain / Kayano states she doesn't give up until she reaches her goal -> She endured the extreme pain of unmaintained tentacles for almost a year

They need to be smart enough / Kayano manages to make a giant pudding in spite of all the physical problems it includes (and she solved it all). Plus she managed to get good grades in a very hard school despite her tentacles
Lowered physical and mental abilities / Kayano has bad grades even in sports
Kayano performs well as a princess in a play -> She is a talented actress. She had to play the role of a normal girl knowing nothing more on Korosensei than her classmates for almost an entire year. She fooled everyone, including us fans, despite the pain caused by her tentacle
Shiro, who knows more than it seems, looks at the protagonist apparently because of his bloodlust / Kayano is seated next to the protagonist -> She has these tentacles and Shiro knows a lot about them so he probably met her before. Yes he was looking at Kayano, not the protagonist

She spends a lot of time with Nagisa -> She wants to kill Korosensei so she needs to hide her bloodlust. And the protagonist has a powerful one that covers hers
A student broke a trophy and was sent into class 3-E on their first day / Kayano joined the class at the beginning of the school year -> It's never mentionned when exactly the broken trophy incident. Kayano's goal was to be sent into the "failure" class as soon as possible. What's best than upsetting the chairman as soon as she arrives?
An honorable mention too:
3 characters go to the cinema and after the movie one of them mentions that "the bag guy being the heroine's brother is cliché" -> We later discover that Kayano's sister was engaged with the true last boss, making him Kayano's brother in law. He also refers to her as his sister (in law) in a chapter.
I could also talk about the plot twists related to other characters. But I want to focus on Kayano's one only.
Bonus 1: Staging
As you can see with the link above and in the part I talk about how Shiro is in fact looking at Kayano, Yusei Matsui, the author, used staging very well to mislead us: each time, Kayano is in the background and the protagonist is in the foreground, totally monopolizing our attention (just like his bloodlust hides hers).

I could elaborate by telling you about how we look at a picture and the rule of thirds but we would enter a field I don’t much about.

Bonus 2: Tentacles are everywhere
Probably the most graphically obvious hints. In some panels you can see a little tentacle coming from Kayano's neck. It's always when something related to assassination or tentacles/Shiro is mentionned.

Conclusion
We were fooled for 127 chapters.
127 CHAPTERS!
I did expect to have another arc on Kayano. But not that she had tentacles. And I certainly did not expect the little details, plotholes and stains to be clues put just under our nose.
But now when I reread the manga again, it is clear as day Matsui planned everything from the start.
And it's rewarding to follow a manga written by someone who took the risk to scatter such clues even though his manga could have been forcefully ended before the big revelation.
A simple way to define a good plot twist
A good plot twist is one you don't see coming but when you reread the whole thing again you realize there were hints all along and you're just an idiot for not noticing

Characters: Albedo, gn!reader
Word Count: 2,221
Warnings: Brief depiction of pseudo-drowning
Premise: In which the reader’s somewhat inexplicable fear of water prompts questioning
Author’s Note: This prompt reminded me of the book (and series) The Tail of Emily Windsnap, which, if you haven’t read at least the first book, you totally should read as it’s just really a wonderful read. The descriptions of the ocean are especially atmospheric. Anyways, as for the prompt, I had a lot of fun. I tried to write a mermaid story in middle school and while it didn’t go that well I have a lot of nostalgia for the mermaid genre. Though this was more about the discovery than actually being a mermaid.
Also the title is a pseudo-historical reference.
Albedo
The first time it had happened Albedo had brushed off the whole incident as completely explainable. After all, it wasn’t as if you hadn’t explained what had happened.
You two had been sitting on one of the craggy hills of the Whispering Woods, you sprawled on the grass, Albedo attempting to paint a landscape of Mondstadt, one of the more ambitious paintings in his current portfolio. Especially since he had traded his more opaque oils for the gentler tones of watercolors. At one point he must have made some sort of noise of frustration, for you lifted yourself out of the shade and made your way over to the canvas.
“That looks absolutely lovely Albedo!” Your smile had always had a calming affect on the alchemist, and this time was no different. Albedo could feel the tension slowly leeching away from his shoulders.
“Do you think so? I’m afraid that I still can’t handle all the odd shadows the buildings cast.”
“The buildings look perfect to me! Though if you feel that way, maybe you could lighten the side facing the sun a little more instead of darkening the area over here? So the shade doesn’t become too muddy.”
“You have a wonderful eye, you know,” Albedo replied, smiling at the way your mind had immediately jumped to the conclusion that he had drawn as well. Reaching for the bowl of water next to him Albedo went to water his brush a little more before trying again.
Unfortunately that’s when things appeared to have taken a turn for the wrong. Instead of reaching over the bowl Albedo’s elbow collided with the glass. Though the grass was soft and close enough to prevent any damage, that didn’t stop all the muddied water from spilling out over the brim and right over you. You let out a sort of squeak, and for a moment Albedo though it was just the initial shock, but then the expression on your face came into view and Albedo could immediately sense you were seconds away from panic.
“Is something wrong?”
“I, I don’t like water very much,” you let out a strained laugh. “I just, I don’t know. I really, really don’t like water.”
“I’m so sorry,” Albedo immediately replied.
Taking off his coat he did his best to dry you off, wiping off your arms and attempting a valiant effort with your now sopping clothes. Though you assured him that it would be alright the alchemist could sense those were only platitudes, and it wasn’t until you seemed significantly calmer that Albedo turned to pick up the bowl and refill it in Cider Lake. And though a part of his mind wished to delve deeper into what had happened he pulled himself back, figuring it wouldn’t help you if he was suddenly enquiring over something you were afraid of.
Now perhaps that should have been the long and the short of it, but the revelation had begun to make Albedo see water everywhere and, more importantly, see how much it appeared to affect you every time you appeared to come in close contact with it.
Thankfully you didn’t seem to have trouble with water in glasses, at least as long as someone was actively drinking it. If not however you would glance at the glass every so often, as if it were your mortal enemy, waiting to catch you off guard to it might tip its contents all over your clothes. Other things, like obsessively drying your wands after washing them and draping layers of towels over your shoulders when you washed your hair, also became apparent. Suddenly Albedo couldn’t stop noticing your discomfort, and the more he noticed the more he wished he could do something about it.
“Exposure therapy?”
“Yes.”
You were sitting on Albedo’s desk, leaning slightly over your partner, a slightly bemused look on your face. It had been about three weeks since the incident, and finally Albedo thought he might have found some sort of solution to your problem. Now he eagerly pressed forward, figuring you’d understand once he’d explained everything fully.
“I know that it might seem counterproductive to subject you to what gets a frightened reaction out of you, but if you subject a person to something they’re afraid of in very small doses over a long period of time, usually they begin to feel a little less afraid of the thing in question. It’s sort of like how you can sometimes make allergies less serious by slowly exposing the patient to more and more of the allergen.”
“I understand where your line of thought is coming from Albedo, but I’m really not sure if this is the best idea for me.”
“I know that it might seem daunting at first. I would not bring up the topic if you didn’t seem so miserable sometimes. I worry that you might become so unhappy by your fear that it will become debilitating eventually. That is why I decided to bring up the option.”
“I really appreciate you going out of your way to think about me Albedo. I really do. I think what you’re trying to do is very kind and noble of you. But in all honesty I don’t think that’s going to work. You see, the way my fear works, I just don’t think that exposure is going to make it go away.”
“Are you sure?” Albedo pressed on, still hoping that you might see the benefit in what he was suggesting. “It won’t start with something drastic I promise. And at the end of the day, I think that it will help a lot.”
“I understand that, I really do, but like I said my fear doesn’t work that way.” You paused, as if sensing the sinking of your partner’s heart, before smiling slightly. “If it makes you feel any better I promise to give it some more thought. Alright?”
“Thank you,” Albedo replied, though in his mind he knew that you thinking about it probably wouldn’t change anything.
Thus the cycle continued, with Albedo growing more and more uneasy. He didn’t bring it up with you again, sensing it would be walking over some invisible line, but still his mind whirled in trying to understand what you meant. If your fear wasn’t simply irrational, then surely something must have happened once. Though the alchemist didn’t pry, surely if you wanted him to know you would tell him in your own time, he had to admit that sometimes his brain went off on various daydreams, as if trying to decide for itself what might have happened.
As it turned out, Albedo didn’t have to speculate for long. Nor did the truth come out the way that he had expected.
You two were on the very small dock at Cider Lake, checking the rafts were tied down properly before the beginning of the stormy season that wreaked havoc through Mondstadt once every year. Though normally you probably would have never done such a thing the Guild was spread thin, preparing for storms, though not nearly as fierce as Dvalin’s winds, that would blow shingles off roofs and destabilize the occasional out of place rock on the wall. As of such the task of shielding the boats used to carry supplies from the City to the larger Mondstadt region had fallen to you. Albedo had tagged along, knowing how uncomfortable the experience might make you feel, and unwilling to leave you alone in a state of anxiety.
“These remaining boats are the ones we need to tie down. They’re too big to be stored in the sheds inside the City.”
“I see,” Albedo replied, already moving to nail the tarp down on one of them as you secured the roping. Already the air seemed alive with the fresh smell of impending rain.
“It’s too bad really, we can’t guarantee these boats’ safety the way we can the others. Thankfully these ones are mostly insured by the Knights. Though really maybe we should build a larger shed,” you mused to yourself, keeping up the tell-tale stream of conversation that Albedo knew you used to distract yourself.
“Perhaps you can make a query via the Guild?”
“Perhaps,” you mused. “Or I might be able to ask Amber.”
Albedo replied that would be a good idea, turning to put another temporary nail onto the top of the longboat. All seemed alright for a moment, then there was a shriek and a terrific splashing sound. Whirling around Albedo had just enough time to find your head in the water before you seemed to seize up and your head dipped below the still crystal-clear waves.
Immediately Albedo stripped himself of his coat and dove in. Though no amazing swimmer himself the alchemist was hardly the worst at staying afloat, and even if he only knew a select few amount of swim strokes that paled in comparison to the idea of you drowning. Making his way over to you he fought the panic rising up inside of him, the part of his brain that said it would be much more difficult to rescue someone terrified of water.
However almost as soon as Albedo approached you he noticed that something was distinctly off. Firstly you didn’t seem like you were drowning, in fact you appeared quite graceful in the water, swishing softly back and forth. Secondly the reason for said grace quickly became apparent to Albedo. For in the spot where your legs should have been, indeed in the spot where your legs had been mere moment ago was something long and slightly shimmery and distinctly fish-like.
Letting his mouth fall open Albedo immediately hoisted himself up above the water, choking on the gasp of breath he had found himself taking. What was that, what in all of Teyvat was that? You were half fish. How were you half fish? Did such a thing even exist, for Albedo had certainly never heard of it! Though the alchemist later admitted that in the moment such fantasy creatures as merfolk had completely fallen out of his head, there was something distinctly different than reading about something in a book and seeing it in real life.
Dragging himself onto the shores of Cider Lake, Albedo waited for you to emerge, still breathing heavily from what had just passed. His brain seemed to shut off them, for he found himself with no questions to ask. You were a mermaid, you were simply a mermaid. There was nothing more to do or say about it.
Eventually you joined him on the beach. Albedo watched in an odd sort of fascination as your legs emerged from the scaley fin which your lower body was now made up of. For a moment individual spots of iridescent seemed to remain, but soon your limbs were back to normal, ignoring the fact that you were soaking wet.
“So now you know why I said exposure therapy wouldn’t work out,” you said, letting a grim sort of laugh escape your lips.
“You… you are a… a…”
“A merfolk, yeah,” you laughed awkwardly. “Not sure why I get stuck with the weird power that is more annoying than good but, you know, oops?”
Albedo could sense your vulnerability, but try as he might he couldn’t get the words to come out of his throat. For a moment he sat there, gasping like a fish, but finally the expression of muted misery on your face wormed its way into his brain and finally Albedo felt as if he had regained some ability to talk.
“I think it’s fascinating.”
“Of course you do.”
“No, really. And not just because this is something I’ve never experienced or seen before. Though it was really surprising, it was also wonderful. As an alchemist you study all the wonders and anomalies of nature, and in doing so you see all these differences aren’t just something to be written down, but they also beautiful. And so I think you’re really beautiful.”
“Thanks,” you replied, though you still seemed uncomfortable. “I just, yeah…”
Reaching over to find your hand in his Albedo squeezed your palm softly. For a moment you did nothing, then, slowly, you leaned your head on Albedo’s shoulder. Letting you stay there Albedo found himself wishing that he could convey all the emotions he felt in that moment to you.
“I know that it can be difficult to talk about things that you’ve kept secret, especially when you feel like they make you stand out in a bad way. But I promise, there is nothing wrong with that. And I hope if I made you feel uncomfortable in any way that I can apologize.”
“Thanks Albedo,” you murmured. “You don’t have to say sorry, but thanks anyways.”
“Always.”
“I love you, you know?”
“I love you too.”
Albedo planted a soft kiss on your forehead. As the boats sat, woefully forgotten, the two of you basked in each other’s presence. For Albedo a mystery had been solved, and explanation given that, while not necessarily scientific, was certainly satisfactory. Yet at that moment he couldn’t care less about it. All he could think about was how lonely it must have been, and how, if he could help it, you would never feel isolated in your discomfort or in your secret ever again.

When the joke AU gets out of hand and now its like, a whole thing
SO uhm here is the post about the fake marriage on Pasio au! Where the whole fake marriage thing ended up becoming more of a B plot more then anything, oops. The premise kind of got lost on me as I went along.
First things first, here’s the information I gathered from the Hoenn timeline in Pokemas itself so yall know what im working with (and as a side note, if you have no idea about the basic story of Pokemon Masters, the rest of this entire post might be a little confusing);
-Brendan is Normans son, and May the daughter of professor Birch. Brendan has at least defeated Normans gym, and neither of them have met Aqua or Magma, nor Archie or Maxie.
-Magma and Aqua don’t seem to be publicly known as bad in any way.
-The meteor with Zinnia has already happened, and someone else took that destiny from her. (I’ll be honest- I never end up really explaining this here. I had no idea how to even begin making sense of this considering this is post game stuff and Brendan never even seems to have made it to the Elite Four as far as we know)
And with that ! Here’s the actual story I managed to make out of that.
-The backstories for Archie and Maxie are the same as they’d normally be. Things only get different once the ORAS plots would normally start.
Magma and Aqua both don’t commit crimes (such as orb or submarine stealing) with their uniforms on and under their team names. As such, they’re still seen as regular, legit environment organisations trying to better the region.
May and Brendan never get involved with them either. Between no meddling kids and their crimes not being tied back to them, things end up going pretty fast on their end.
-Their crimes aren’t connected nor is anyone looking into them as something bigger- right up until the orbs get stolen. Those are considered important enough artifacts to raise some attention, and so, Steven and Wallace brought on the case to investigate as the Hoenn champions.
-It’s a lot easier said then done, and while they start to suspect Aqua and Magma have something to do with it, they have no concrete proof. Still, they do their best to figure out if it’s them and what their intentions with it would be.
-Regrettably for them they are too slow. Maxie and Archie both make it to the sea cavern , and both raise their respective legendaries. Kyogre is there, Groudon is there, as a result even Rayquaza shows up. There’s a lot going on— and then, within a couple of minutes, there isn’t. All legendaries vanish into thin air, so fast that the population of Hoenn never even realised what was happening out on sea. Except for some unfortunate swimmers who never end up being believed.
Maxie and Archie feel devestated, and the Hoenn League who did notice what happened is very alarmed. Keeping the incident quiet as to not incite a panic, Steven and Wallace are pushed onto this case instead now- to locate the missing legendaries, and ensure they won’t cause any harm- and maybe figure out what caused them to awaken in the first place.
Wallace and Steven immediately link that to the orbs, and as such, Aqua and Magma. Still, they have no actual proof- no one outside their teams saw Archie or Maxie doing anything.
-The reason behind the sudden disappearances turns out to be Hoopa! Who brought all of them to Pasio. The legendaries immediately went from fighting mode into very confused mode. They don’t know where they are or what happened. Groudon ends up hiding in the volcano on the island, while Kyogre keeps to the bottom of the water surrounding the island. -Rayquaza however doesn’t hide itself- and instead, floats around on a mountain top on the island. Rumors start floating around about it, and before long Zinnia shows up and becomes a sync pair with it.
-Steven and Wallace hear Rayquaza is over in Pasio, and figure the other two might be as well- so they go over to investigate. They also talk some with Zinnia about Rayquaza, but since it appears to be fine and calm and Zinnia is not planning on giving it up, she ends up keeping it and they leave her be to search for Groudon and Kyogre instead.
-Magma and Aqua also catch wind of Rayquaza being over there, and even hear about some sightings of what appear to be Kyogre and Groudon around the island. Now the plan is to get over there and get them…. but the problem is that Steven and Wallace are both there, and they’re well aware those two suspect them- and that suddenly showing up for no reason would probably only worsen those suspicions. While the both of them have complete faith in their power as a team, they’d rather not pick a fight with two champions if they can avoid it- especially when they’re on an island full of other champions and elite four members who would probably back them up if asked.
-Going with their entire team would definitely be too suspicious. That’s out. Going with their admins might still be risky- Plus, they can’t exactly leave their teams unattended back in Hoenn. So, Maxie and Archie end up figuring that the best course of action would be for them to go alone, at least for the time being. Scout out if they can locate the legendaries and a way to get to them- and then call backup if needed.
…But if they both go alone at the same time and end up fighting each other while they’re there… it wouldn’t help their case.
-And so, after some thinking things over, Maxie ends up deciding it’d be best if they went together under a temporary truce. So off to Aqua to talk it over with Archie he goes! There, they come up with their plan; faking a marriage, and going to Pasio under the excuse of being on honeymoon. Steven and Wallace wouldn’t be expecting it, so maybe it’d throw them off track! And for the rest of the trainers on Pasio- well, who isn’t happy for a couple living their best life? With a little luck it’d immediately make people trust them a bit more.
-So to Pasio they go! Maxie takes Camerupt as his sync partner, Archie partners with his Sharpedo. They rent a little vacation home- for obvious reasons, they’ll have to live together for a while, but with a little luck they can just avoid each other most of the time. Besides, at least the ad specified there being two beds.
-They misread the ad. There’s one single two person bed. Archie is promptly demoted to sleeping on the couch.
In general, while they do well enough at faking being very affectionate and loving in front of people, the moment they’re back in their house it’s a lot of fighting.
-Steven and Wallace are not stupid, and are immediately wary when Maxie and Archie suddenly show up no matter how well they’re putting on an act. Still, there’s not a lot they can do except keep an eye on them and ensure they stay away from the areas Kyogre and Groudon are spotted.
-The rest of the island however thinks they’re nice! Look at the cute couple having fun. Good for them.
-Overall, while things are going decently okay for Archie and Maxie, Steven and Wallace constantly blocking off areas where they could gather intel and trailing their every move is really hindering their ability to be able to do much of anything. And so the four of them enter an awkward stand still, where neither can really get the other off the island.
-For a while, Maxie and Archie just try to put on the act as best as they can, to hopefully get Steven and Wallace to lower their guard. They go on ‚dates‘ together, hang out with the other people around the island, attend events together, etc. Steven and Wallace still don’t trust them for shit however, and end up pushing May and Brendan towards them in the hopes that they might be able to spot something off.
-Brendan and May have no idea what anyone is trying to do here, and actually really like Archie and Maxie. They help show them all there is on Pasio and introduce them to new people time and time again.
-Eventually, Maxie and Archie realise that this is going to take a lot longer then they were hoping for- between Steven and Wallace not budging, and the trainers on Pasio constantly keeping them busy- they’re going to need an excuse to keep staying here. And they don’t actually need to wait long! -While being a lot less aggressive and in people’s face about it, Archie still talks about the environmental impact the island has on the ocean around it a good bit to some of the other trainers there- he is leader of an environmental group focused on the sea back at home, after all! People actually start agreeing with him, to a point it even reaches Lear. Conceding something should be done, Sawyer starts working on putting a team together that would help undo the damage they’ve caused by making the oceans around the island more habitable for the Pokemon that were made homeless because of them. Archie is one of the first people to get asked to join the team- and having a job there makes a great excuse to stay a while longer. Besides, it’s still working towards his goal to some extent, so he’s down! -A bit after that Maxie ends up joining the team that made the island and is currently in charge of keeping it thriving. Same for him- the job still aligns with his ideals, so he doesn’t mind doing it.
-This was also the time Archie started having serious back pain from sleeping on the couch each night, so he took the bed as well. Maxie threatened to kick him out, Archie wished him luck with that and… well, they both just keep to their side of the bed now.
-Back at home, Magma and Aqua are being good legit environmental groups working within the law. It’s been gaining them a great reputation, and being fully legitimate and not having to fear getting charged for crimes is also very nice for the teens working as grunts there.
-And so back in Pasio, Maxie and Archie forcefully have to take a step back from their plans… to live relatively normal lives instead. Surprise surprise, it’s not actually that bad! They enjoy their jobs, they actually start making some friends, half the kids on the island seem to have adopted them as cool new uncles… and they even start fighting less in private! They can actually get along sometimes.
Eventually the realisation hits that they’re living out the lives they wanted- before they ever joined Rocket and everything went so terribly wrong. Except their marriage being ‚fake‘, this was more or less the future they envisioned… and it’s very weird to think about.
-For Maxie, he does get sad reminiscing, and reminisce he does- but as long as Archie keeps going , he’d never give up his plans. While originally raising Groudon was truly out of his ideals, over time (and when their original breakup happened) it became less about that- and more about ‚winning‘ - winning out over Archie, and proving to both himself and the other he’d been right all along. Even when the evidence started pointing towards that not being the case and Tabitha only agreeing this was a bad idea, he was so caught up in not being able to lose now he never backed down- and just reassured himself the science had to be wrong.
As long as Archie is going, so is he.
-Archie however…. Archie’s plans of flooding the world to reset it- undo the damage humanity caused by ending it entirely- were born out of feeling like there truly was no other option, truly was no other good left. Being focused on that goal every day, it wasn’t hard to stay in that mindset. But now, having to forcibly take a step back- suddenly getting to live a normal life again, with a way to help that doesn’t require death and a support system outside of Aqua… Suddenly the hope returns that maybe there is more out there- maybe there is another way to go about this.
And so, after a lot of thinking, and a lot of doubting every answer he came up with- finally he rang up Shelly and Matt to talk things over, and talk about leaving Kyogre be. Shelly was thrilled- at the end she didn’t trust his plans with Kyogre anymore anways and seeing Archie finally with agree with her on that was a big relief to her. Matt didn’t entirely understand, but Archie seemed happier with this idea, and Shelly definitely seemed happier with this idea- so he certainly didn’t mind.
Afterwards, Shelly ends up privately talking to Archie some more, where he confided a lot in her about stuff he never told her before. It was a lot to take in, and she definitely wasn’t happy about his plans having always been to more or less commit genocide on humanity without ever having told them- but at the end of the day, he’s still her friend, no damage has actually been done, and he’s finally talking to her about it so they can work it out. As such, with some help from her, Archie ends up going to therapy on the regular to help keep him in a better headset.
-After all of this, Archie pulls Maxie aside to let him know he’s giving up on Kyogre, and Maxie… just doesn’t know how to feel about it at all- doesn’t even know if he can trust him. He certainly wasn’t expecting this either way. For a while, Archie just goes about his day on Pasio, while Maxie went very very quiet, just watching him from a distance.
They both spend so much time on this- suddenly given up was something he never thought would be an option, and it’s a lot to process. Besides, Archie could be lying. ….But truthfully, he’s known the other way too long to believe that. Archie is serious about this, and it’s not particularly hard to tell.
So, after a lot of hemming and hawing, he too finally rings up Courtney and Tabitha and calls of their mission with Groudon.
Magma and Aqua are both just legit regular environmental organisations now.
-Now with that decision made, they end up talking a lot over between each other themselves. About their past, about their teams, and about what they want to do now. This is where they finally decide to actually give their relationship another chance as well. Not necessarily as a romantic relationship- thought not strictly as just friends either. They decide to just take it slow, see what they’re comfortable with, and see where it takes them from there.
(A lot of trainers in Pasio actually worry this is when they got into a fight- since they stop acting overly affectionate to put on an act, and instead get to have awkward conversations trying to rekindle their relationship. Everyone is so worried about what happened. Sorry guys, they’ll be okay)
-Though they fully intent on going back to Hoenn and their teams, they’re not in a hurry to leave and stick out their job contract which only were for about half a year total anyways. During this, even Steven and Wallace start noticing a change in them and finally lower their guard a bit. They never do end up attempting to get to the legendaries- they’re just enjoying their time here now.
-When they do finally get back to Hoenn, they merge the teams and help the land and the sea together now. Archie also ends up convincing Maxie to join him for therapy sometimes- even without them almost ending the world, they do still both have their things to work trough.
-Groudon and Kyogre just vibe on Pasio now. They let kids battle them for fun sometimes. They’re doing alright.
-Brendan and May end up visiting Archie and Maxie a lot! That’s their cool gay uncles now.
-Somewhere along the way, as time passes, they actually end up legitimising the marriage documents they faked at the very start. And they still return to Pasio from time to time to meet up with the friends they made there. :]
Apologies if any of this was messy or unclear! it was a lot to try and condense down into a single post and I did my best, but ykno. if there did appear to be smth missing feel free to shoot me a message or an ask orz also this is my second time writing this post- first time i made the stupid mistake of typing it up in browser. And after over an hour of typing this all up…. tumblr refreshed for no reason, and deleted all of it. so writing this all a second time has been even harder then the first. ;; it hurt so bad.
Also, I do have a lot of thoughts n ideas abt the actual relationships they end up having w other characters on the island, but I’m saving that for another post! With the premise of Pasio there’s just so much potential to stuff all these diff characters from diff games into a place togehter and i want to make the most of that- so its prolly gonna b another long post lmao. i wont make this one even longer then it already is, so diff post it is
just know that they did in fact once see Giovanni on the island, and they almost ended up throwing hands.

Robin, Aqualad and Artemis redesign from the Young Justice animated series! Im thinking about doing all of them also Artemis and Robin are a little messier bc I did them a couple months ago when I just finished my rewatch. Notes about each under the cut! 
Robin:  - first choice: I got rid of the toe shoes, Im sorry who thought it was a good idea to give him toe shoes?? I have him with shoes that elude more to an acrobat  - thats a general note too: I tried to keep the elements that felt acrobat-y and also the more “boyish” elements- like the short sleeves those are cute - overall the original look I didnt feel I needed to change much? I just wanted to make it look more sleek? I love the clunky gloves in the original though! also the cape!!   - weird choice but I removed the little R which didnt really have much purpose other then making things less crowded but I could probably put it back   - Im trans so I say hes trans, there isnt much I changed for that except I figured I’d shift to be an outfit that would make the body more masculine? basically thinking about what I think when Im getting dressed   - idk I also made the cape “sharper” or gave it more of a distinct cape? this is in part to contrast my Miss Martian redesign but also to allude to the bat of course    - his gloves still have the same function as they did before with being able to project his little screen thing bc that was cool!   - I gave him messier hair then I would’ve otherwise to give that contrast between Robin- Robin out of unifrom- and Dick Grayson (I have a Masks ttrpg character that is a Janus so that was just on my mind)   - gotta keep the mischievous grin (peter pan ass looking motherfucker) and the domino mask!  Aqualad:  - did yall know that electric eels dont have gills! yeah thought in his original design he is kind of supposed to have an eel vibe to it? I tried to lean into that more (also for eel facts I was like rapidly texting my roommate whose majoring in Ocean Science about how confusing and strange they are, he was helpful lol) - the eel shifts can be seen in the way I made his look more “stripe-y” (with the chest part) and adding in the blue to contrast  - he didnt have a mask before and I get that isnt too important but I thought giving him like a “paint” mask might be fun and look cool, SPEAKING OF PAINT... - with the eel choice I decided that it might be cool for his arm marking to be like electroconducive paint or whatever idk Im majoring in ecology not majoring in engineering or physics (im also looking at his original design and feeling like a dumbass for him no longer having eels on his hands :’()  - im mlm and so I think he should be mlm from the start, just a cool older gay for robin to look up too, that isnt important to his design but I think its important in my heart - I gave him shoes, I took on seminar on parasitology this semester and his bare feet just make me so worried about him getting an infection- they are shoes for swimming though! (or he can just pop them off if he wants to use his... toe fins- hes running around on land though he needs shoes)  - w/ the hair I get his atlantian but I know that giving a darker skinned character light eyes and hair to imply “magic” or whatever isn’t a great trope so I wanted to give him a different hair style but I also thought the idea that he bleached them just cause he wanted to might be cool. He also has brown eyes (whoops noticing I left the rest of the eye blue though)   - he gets little earrings  - I didnt like that he has the U shape as like a little belt so I decided to encorporate it into the rest of the outfit- his look is also based off a wet suit!!  - trying to think if Im forgetting anything.... OH I gave him a swimmers body too!! so broader shoulders from swimming!!  Artemis:  - like Aqualad she bleaches her hair too, I like to think she does it in like a rebellious teen way? idk maybe her and Aqualad can bond by them doing it together  - I took away the completely low wasted pants... idk they just felt a little weird if that makes sense...   - I also made her top more of a sports bra, then instead of just slapping and arrow on there I made it apart of the top  - her old mask lowkey felt strange to me??? I was talking w a friend and she pointed at that it feels like a cheesy bank robber mask? (like ski cap with holes) which maybe was intentional to like... ellude to her family and that “untrustwothy”ness??? idk I decided to make it cover her mouth instead to lean into that- it also connected to how both Cheshire and Sportsmaster have full face masks (I havent finished my KF and SB redesign but I dont think theyll have masks that cover the mouths so it singles her out)  - also the part of her mask that pulls her hair back is now like traditional art of the Goddess Artemis which I feel was under utilized in her original design? thats also why I gave her a cool braid instead of a pony tail! (I also feel like its a little more practical idk does it make her seem horse girl-ish)- I also made her boots distantly resemble thoughs  -shes also trans, bc like Robin I say she is- also it’d be funny for her and robin to bond over being “the team non-metahumans, who are both trans and both love Wally West”   - On that note thought I tried to make her look different from Robin and I also gave her nice abs bc she has cropped clothing which nicely show it off  - body type wise shes a little lean and lanky  - I got rid of her weird belt replacing it with a belt that repeats the overall triangle/arrow motif repeating throughout her fit    - gloves function as those little arm guard things you have if you are doing archery- I tried to make those look more functioning also cooler bc they kind of just gave me a strange vibe in the original  I think thats all I have! idk I feel like this might flop but TBH Im having alot of fun w it and Ive been talking to an old friend whose watching it for the first time which makes me really happy! Also these arent to say the original designs are bad I just wanted to take my own crack at reworking them!- OH wait- heres my height chart for these three, Aqualad and Artemis are the same height around 5′10″-6′0″ and robin is around 5′3″-5′5″ he was originally taller then I looked at my line up and was like “shoot everyone is too tall” so I adjusted him so I could bump down Meghan, Wally, and Zantanna a little without making everyone too short (if that makes sense)

I needed some positive thoughts right now so here have some Headcanons regarding Elros' children because apparently they live rent free in my head now.
A smarter person would make individual posts for each one but I'm not smart. Everything below the cut.
Vardamir
If anyone in this family takes after the Teleri/Sindar in appearance it's him
Silver Hair and light blue eyes
None of his children inherit these features and they only show up every other generation
As a child he firmly believed he was an elf and no-one knew how to convince him otherwise without breaking his heart
He writes children's books and song's as some sort of stress relief
A very talented musician
Politics don't interest him unless they involve some sort of historical aspect he is interested in
Looks up to Elrond A LOT
Totally socially inept, doesn't know how to communicate someone help him
Atanalcar is his anger translator
Loves his wife dearly and is a genuinely good father
Dog person
Manwendil
The Sailor and Traveler of the family
He never stays long at the same place and has probably seen more of the world than any of his siblings
He and Atanalcar are twins, he's the older one
The most Noldorin in appearance → black hair, grey eyes, general lack of self control
Also the most humanlike? Like he doesn't even care about his elvish blood and is kind of glad that he doesn't have to make a choice
There's an eagle that always accompanies him on his journeys
Second worst social skills despite him coming around a lot and being in contact with a lot of people
When he was younger he would climb any tree he would come across and get stuck like a cat
A very good swimmer
No self control in regards to sweets, put a plate of cookies or candied fruits in front of him and they will vanish within seconds
Good sense for directions and orientation
Probably the most likely to start a fight but the least likely to get blamed for it (he had his ways alright?)
The idea of marriage is not something he's very fond of or interested in, still a very good uncle
Atanalcar
Generally wants everyone to get along but gets frustrated quite easily
More so than any of his siblings he suffers from the Noldorin syndrome of Bad decision making
The younger twin but doesn't really care about it

He rocked the dirty ranger look before Aragorn made it cool
Vardamir's anger translator for the reason alone that he's the only one who's able to read his expressions correctly
Very colourful language which he learned from his dad
The best handwriting out of everyone but he HATES writing and reading and studying in general
Bets social skills in the whole family
Adopts a couple of orphans when he's in his mid-twenties and they become very much fully functional adults
He married his best friend from childhood late in life, they die together on the same day
He gets seasick so easily, even the sight of a boat makes him nauseous
Very close to all his siblings and basically the glue that keeps them together
Tindomiel
Youngest child, there is an age difference of twenty years between the twins and her and almost twenty-five years between her an Vardamir
A very talented artist, not just with paint but also with stone, wood, wool, etc.
Basically inherited every fiber of Noldorin creative talent that her father could pass onto her
A very religious woman as well, has a strong faith in the valar and is a devoted follower of Ulmo and Niënna respectively
Just like Arwen many millennia later she takes A LOT after Lúthien in terms of appearance
History didn't document that because neither Elros nor any of his household knew what Lúthien looked like therefore she is only described as one of the fairest maidens of the secondborn
Second best social skills, Atanalcar just wins in this category because he actually knows how to read people
She is very close to her father and was present when Elros took his final breath
She marries a descendant of the house of Hador when she is in his early twenties, together they have two children
When she was a child she brought home a very grumpy looking cat and named it Moryo - Elros thought that it was hilarious, her mother and brothers not so much

It took less than ten minutes to discover the identity of the boy from the lake. As soon as they had arrived home, Lucie had started up her laptop and searched for missing children in the area. There was a boy called Steve Johnson, twelve years old. Lived in the village, just like the boy had told her. Had gone missing only a week ago. Lucie skimmed through the newspaper article. She’d thought the boy might have been dead for some time already, but he had been only dead for a week. She suspected he’d drowned the day of his disappearance. The article mentioned that the boy was a competitive swimmer, which explained why he hadn’t considered the danger in going swimming alone, but still, how likely was it that a competitive swimmer drowned in a lake that was perfectly safe for swimming? There were no dangerous currents, no weeds one could get trapped in. Drowning was always a risk, but in this lake, Lucie would only expect that to happen to people who couldn’t swim very well. Definitely not the case with this child. Exhaustion, then? But there was an island in the middle of the lake, and it wasn’t big. Anywhere he could have been, he should have been able to swim at least someplace he could stand in the water.
The boy had said something about how every time he tried to swim close to the shore, he’d appeared someplace else. Lucie wasn’t sure if she should believe that, ghosts tended to be confused about their deaths. Many didn’t remember dying at all until they realized what they were, and even then Lucie had heard some odd stories that couldn’t possibly be true. It was usually more believable that dying played tricks on the memory. But if that were true, if something had trapped the boy in the lake, then it would make sense why a competitive swimmer had drowned.
‘If he drowned and no one found out what happened, then his body must still be in the lake, right?’ Cordelia asked.
‘I think so. Someone should go looking for him. If the police know he’s in the lake, they should be able to find him. The problem is, how do we let them know where to look? I can’t exactly go to the police station and tell them I spoke to his ghost.’
‘We can send an anonymous tip,’ Cordelia said. ‘Maybe claim we saw him go into the lake around the time he disappeared.’
Lucie frowned. ‘Would they believe someone only called now a week later?’
Cordelia shrugged her shoulders. ‘Could be that we didn’t recognize him at first, we don’t know the child. But after looking at the missing posters, we realized this was the child we saw go into the lake to swim on the same day he disappeared.’
Lucie started rubbing her wrist, something she usually did when she was nervous. Then something occurred to her. ‘If he went swimming and never returned, then he must have left his belongings somewhere, right? A bag, some clothes, at the very least a towel. There was nothing at the beach.’
‘Lots of places where he could have entered the water,’ Cordelia said. ‘Most would be hidden from sight, so a bag or towel would not attract attention there. You mean to say someone might have taken his belongings to cover it up?’
‘Maybe. Or maybe he put the bag somewhere hidden from sight and no one has stumbled upon it yet. I’ll call with an anonymous tip, and claim I just saw a missing poster and realized I saw that boy go into the lake, that he might have drowned.’
Lucie was sick with nerves, staring at the phone. Princess Lucinda, a fictional and much braver version of Lucie, might never have heard of a phone, but she would not be scared to make a simple call if she knew how. But Lucie was terrified of making phone calls. She knew it was a stupid fear, but it was so unpredictable what might happen after someone picked up. What they’d say, what she was supposed to say, how loud someone else was going to sound through the phone. If she could even understand what they were saying, no matter how loud someone was, Lucie often struggled understanding speech through a phone.
‘Do you want me to make the call?’ Cordelia asked.
‘I can do this,’ Lucie said, more to herself than Cordelia, and she picked up the phone and called the police station.
She hung up as soon as she was done, she wanted to avoid questions she couldn’t answer. Police received anonymous tips all the time, right? Would they be looking already? Would they find him?
‘Can we take a walk?’ Lucie asked. ‘For distraction.’
‘That’s alright,’ Cordelia said. ‘Do you think Thomas and Alastair are still out there? Alastair used to take walks of several hours, he can probably spend an entire day there and not get tired of it.’
‘Funny. Thomas did the same thing. His attempt to get away from overprotective family members,’ Lucie said. ‘I’m sure they’re having fun.’
Lucie knew Thomas’ family worried for him because he used to be so sick, and his parents and sisters had never really left the pattern of Thomas being the small sick boy who needed to be cared for. Thomas greatly valued time alone because of that.
Lucie quickly went into her bedroom and changed into something more practical for a walk. When she returned downstairs she noticed a note her parents had left, she’d been so preoccupied with finding out who that boy was she hadn’t seen it at all. Her parents had gone grocery shopping and would be away for some time since the village didn’t offer much vegan food. A couple of months ago, Thomas had decided to go vegetarian because he liked animals and cared about the environment and Lucie had decided to surpass him by trying a vegan diet instead. Thomas couldn’t stay behind and had joined her, leaving two sets of exasperated parents desperately trying to figure out what they could still feed their kids. Both Lucie and Thomas were ridiculously stubborn, so any attempt to change their minds had been in vain. Fortunately, the UK was one of the easiest countries to find vegan food. Lucie was especially proud of Thomas, she knew he struggled with making choices for himself that inconvenienced others and this was something he’d chosen for himself.
Lucie and Cordelia walked into the woods, and Lucie made sure to take in the atmosphere. If this were a scene in her novel, how would she describe the trees? They were tall, for sure, thick, allowing little light to pass through. There was lichen growing over rocks and trees. There was a fog that was worst in the morning but never quite lifted. If this were a scene in her novel, Lucie definitely would mention the fog. It was both beautiful and eerie, the backdrop for a dark or scary scene. There were some birds in the trees, Lucie couldn’t see them, but she could hear them. If the scene became creepy enough, they would fall silent.
‘Is there always a fog here?’ Cordelia asked.
‘Usually,’ Lucie said. ‘I’m not sure why, weather science is not my expertise. It’s worst in the morning. Makes for a nice atmosphere though. Mysterious, eerie.’
‘Creepy,’ Cordelia added.
‘That too,’ Lucie said. ‘If I ever write a gothic or horror novel, this forest shall certainly serve as inspiration.’
‘Now I’m getting nervous,’ Cordelia admitted. ‘What kind of creatures do you think hide here?’
‘Oh, probably nothing,’ Lucie said.
‘Well, if something attacks us I’ll have cortana to fight it with,’ Cordelia said.
‘You brought your sword?’
Cordelia put her hand around her golden necklace. Lucie realized she always wore that necklace, but it had never occurred to her that it was cortana.
‘It changes shape?’
‘Exactly. I can’t exactly walk around carrying a sword, so it changes into a necklace I can wear daily,’ Cordelia said. ‘I’ve never really used it to fight something, but if we are attacked, I can defend us.’
‘Has it always changed into that necklace? Now I’m picturing your father or uncle Jem wearing it,’ Lucie said.
Uncle Jem could look well with it, she guessed, but she couldn’t picture Cordelia’s father wearing a necklace.
‘It changes into something different for each of us. For my father, it was a fancy golden watch. For uncle Jem, it was a jade pendant.’
‘Has Alastair ever carried cortana?’ Lucie asked, curious what it would change into for him.
‘No,’ Cordelia said. ‘He did want it when he was maybe fourteen, but the sword chose me over him. I think he later realized it wasn’t for him anyway. He has his daggers in case something really bad happens, but apart from that he’d rather stay away from the dangerous parts of the supernatural.’
Lucie wasn’t sure what she wanted, if given a choice. Sometimes ghosts could be unsettling, especially when she discovered they had passed recently or asked her if she could solve their murders. She wanted to be a writer, not a hero, but at the same time, she liked being able to see people when no one else could and she liked solving mysteries. She liked being able to help, to give the ghosts some power. Unfortunately, many ghosts needed things she could not give them and reading them parts from her stories didn’t typically help them move on. Some did give useful feedback though.
‘Are his daggers magic too?’ Lucie asked. ‘Like cortana?’
‘I don’t think they can kill anything like cortana does. We don’t know, some are old and have a rich history and for all we know they were magic. Neither of us have been willing to test that though, and Alastair keeps them because he likes collecting them, he doesn’t intend to fight with them if he doesn’t have to.’
Lucie didn’t know the particulars of killing supernatural creatures, and according to her father much of it was trial and error. Cortana was special in that regard, since it guaranteed to kill anything, but for others they would just have to hope whatever weapon they have does something.
‘Do you think they have started looking already?’ Lucie asked.
‘I don’t know,’ Cordelia said. ‘Missing children usually have a high priority, so I guess they would have started already. Searching a lake for a body might take some time, even a small lake like this one.’
‘What are you doing here?’
Lucie and Cordelia turned around to see Alastair and Thomas. Alastair really looked tiny next to Thomas despite being average height, she thought. They both looked like they’d been here for a while, a bit sweaty, Thomas’ face flushed. Alastair’s usually meticulously styled dark hair was a bit messy.
‘We went for a walk.’
‘I thought you wanted to go swimming,’ Alastair said.
‘We did go swimming, but after that we came here,’ Lucie said. ‘For distraction.’
She decided the boys had better know the truth too, and summarized her encounter with Steve’s ghost in the lake and the story he’d told about being unable to get out of the lake.
Thomas looked unusually nervous, was he alright? Alastair looked concerned at most, but as far as Lucie remembered he rarely showed emotion. She wondered if Thomas and Alastair had had any fun during their walk.
‘Trapped in the lake?’ Alastair frowned. ‘There are stories of people getting trapped in certain places by powerful beings. Of course, no one knows if those are true since people who become victims of such things usually don’t live to tell about it.’
‘Perhaps we better return to grandma’s house,’ Lucie suggested. ‘Then we can explain everything, figure out if anything needs to be done.’
On their way back, Lucie did most of the talking. She asked Thomas and Alastair if they had any fun, but neither of them spilled much. Thomas mentioned something about them seeing a hedgehog and that Alastair liked them, and at some point Lucie fell into telling them all about her latest story idea. Only when they were home it occurred to her that Alastair might not care for her stories at all. Lucie could never tell, and when people politely told her something along the lines of ‘that’s interesting’, she tended to take that as an invitation to talk about her projects for the next hours. British people tended to be very polite, so they never said what they meant and left Lucie to figure out what they were trying to say. It was very annoying.
Not long before grandma’s house came back in sight, something caught Lucie’s eye. She stopped, Alastair nearly bumping into her, but she ignored him. Instead, she stared in the direction where she thought she might have seen something. There was a boy there. Not the one from the lake, but another boy of around twelve. Dark hair, light eyes, Lucie realized she recognized him.
‘Lu, are you alright?’ Thomas asked. ‘You look like you’ve seen a- never mind.’
You look like you’ve seen a ghost, except with Lucie that was often the case and it rarely startled her this much.
She’d known about her ability already when Jesse died, had known about for as long as she could remember really. She’d searched for him, in the forest where he’d died, at school. She’d even gone by his mother’s house, who had refused to let her in. She’d never seen him, never even caught a glimpse. He must have moved on already, she’d thought and although she’d wished she’d had a chance to say goodbye, Lucie was fine with the idea of him moving on. It was better than remaining as a ghost.
But here he was, and he hadn’t changed a bit since he’d died over four years ago. Still a twelve year old boy, and it hit Lucie just how young he’d died.
‘Jesse!’ she called out.
Jesse looked up. He had a haunted look in his eyes ghosts sometimes had. He didn’t say anything, nor did he move any closer.
‘Jesse!’ she tried again. ‘It’s me, Lucie! I can see you!’
Jesse opened his mouth as if he was about to say something, but then disappeared as if he’d never been there. There was no poof, no cloud of shadows or ray of light in which he disappeared. He was just gone, no evidence that he’d been there at all. But Lucie was sure of what she’d seen. Jesse Blackthorn had just appeared in front of her. But why here, so far from where he’d lived and what he knew? Why now, four years after his death?
‘What is he saying?’ Cordelia asked.
Lucie shook her head as she tried to get her breathing under control. ‘Nothing,’ she whimpered. ‘He’s gone. He disappeared. But he was right there, it was him.’
