i have this headcanon that Bruce still calls Dick Robin or Boy Wonder when they work together and he still calls Babs Batgirl from time to time because to him they are.

Hearing Dick crack a joke while doing a flip and karate chopping a goon flies him back in time to when it was just the two of them, the Batman and Robin days

When Babs crackles in his comm with information and maybe a quick quipp, thats batgirl in his ear, scolding him for getting hurt

And Dick might not show any outward shift at the name, might not do more than follow the barked order of 'robin on your left!' and babs wont remark the different name, the 'thank you batgirl' instead of oracle, but maybe Dick stands a little straighter, maybe Babs sits up a little, preens

Because to them Bruce isn't this maniac who kidnapped express adopted a bunch of children, he's just bruce. their bruce. their batman. And they are his Batgirl and Robin. His Boy and Girl Wonder.

Aether comforting ifrit after he gets overwhelmed. Taking care of everyone else before himself. Can’t stop to ensure he’s doing alright because someone else needs him more. Zephyr has too much to deal with to stop and take of him, they don’t deserve that burden.

But it’s too much, it always is. Standing in the middle of the kitchen after promising to make lunch for the other ghouls, head feels like static, vision tunneled on the sandwich in front of him. And when he drops the butter knife on the floor it just becomes too much.

Ifrit tries to stop the tears before they come, hot and thick welling up at the corners of his eyes. But he can’t. His hand shakes as he picks up the butter knife, determined to finish his task.

And aether sees, can feel that ifrit was on the brink from a mile away. Just quietly takes the utensil from him, shushing him and telling him that it’s not important, that he can’t finish this in his current state, that the others will understand.

And ifrit just collapses into him. The floodgates opening once aether wraps his arms around him, pulling his head into his shoulder.

that she'd rather die than keep living with his presence in the world haunting her, haunting Them.

That if he did choose Joker, she wasn't going to disarm the bomb herself.

the way the two men stare at each other in the way they have so many times before, in those moments when Joker stayed or prioritized their fight over her. the way he knew Joker loved the thrill of it all and thought it was funny, thought there was No way Batman would leave him and that this game had to end as according to the rules. And that Batman would do so, he would follow the rules and save him. The way he immediately assumed Batman would choose him, choose his life and choose to stay and disarm the bomb.

And how Batman didn't do that. How Batman walked away from him, leaving him to die or escape or whatever, because He was choosing Harley and her safety and prioritizing her life over him.

The way he stared him in the eyes before choosing the woman Joker had always left to die over him. The way that it was always Him, it was never a question if he would choose Batman over her, but when faced with that type of scenario, Joker is the one that gets left behind to die.

The way she literally woke up in the hospital instead of them having a scene just outside after he removed it. because she didn't intend to live in one of the two options. the way the bomb probably did go off to some capacity because you don't just end up in the hospital knocked out for a week.

Him saying that he's glad she's okay, after everything they've been through, this war and Everything else. and the way he didn't brush off her concern
