Randomly got a fanfic idea:
Constantine basically decides "fuck this I quit" and stops doing the experiments (yay Jericho doesn't die)
Joseph is not okay with this at all, but Constantine had made his decision. He didn't know Joseph was intentionally hurting Jericho but he knew he was hurting Jericho and that was enough to stop the experiments.
Joseph still wants an Enemy of death though, and a few years later Verity Torres, a first year at the time, is revealed as a Makar.
Constantine and Jericho, as well as the rest of that apprentice group, had graduated by then, so there was no one in the school who could tell Verity and her counterweight how painful Joseph's experiments could be .
It takes a lot more to break Verity than it would have for Constantine though, she doesn't trust anyone really and isn't close to anyone, so it takes several deaths to break her. It wasn't just her counterweight, if multiple counterweights died in experiments that would raise too much suspicion, but Joseph either killed or distanced her from everyone she was close to, as well as in general making her life miserable without anything being traced back to him (starting rumors, giving her too much work, not trying to step in/stopping other masters stepping in to protect her from bullying). Him and her counterweight become the only two people she's really close to without anything being traced back to Joseph, and then her counterweight dies in an experiment and it's marked as an accident.
That's when she becomes The Enemy of Death.
Constantine's only reaction to finding out Verity's counterweight died is "good thing we stopped doing the experiments with him", but Jericho asks for Master Rufus to check what's happening because he's seen how much Joseph could hurt the Makar he's working with without them noticing. Master Rufus catches the experiments with raising the dead, and what happens there basically goes the same way as when Constantine was kicked out in cannon.
At this point no one except Jericho is really worried about what's going on, the masters think they stopped the issue by kicking Verity and Joseph out and they made some excuse to tell the assembly about why they had to leave because they didn't want to admit that both a student and teacher were doing illegal experiments in the school and no one noticed.
Idk how to explain this bit but eventually third mage war except Verity is the enemy this time
Constantine spent at least a year refusing to fight because he didn't want to fucking die, but eventually got sick of being asked and decided fuck it I'll do it fine. Jericho refused to be his counterweight for it because he didn't want to die either, Constantine ended up choosing Declan as a new counterweight because he's the one Constantine is the least scared of losing (though still very scared of losing) but can still stand to be around for hours, days or even weeks at a time while fighting.
Constantine ends up becoming closer to Declan than anyone else in his group, including at that time Jericho because Jericho wasn't fighting at that point and so his only communication with Constantine is calls and stuff, so Constantine gets closer to Declan, who he's actually around for a lot of time. It's basically petty rivals to close friends (no lovers because Declan x Jericho is far superior)
(Also update on less war related shit, Alistair and Sarah were dating by this point and Constantine is fucking jealous)
Declan ends up dying four years into the war. Constantine kills a lot of people in anger, refuses to talk to people for weeks, then only accepts social interaction from Jericho. He never fully gets over Declan's death and blames himself.
Declan's death is also what makes Sarah decide to fight in the war, and also ruined her friendship with Constantine because she knows he knew Declan was almost definitely going to die being a counterweight but chose him anyway.
Constantine probably needs a long mental health break and therapy but instead he's fighting again a week later with Jericho as a counterweight this time because what can go wrong with that?
Jericho manages to keep himself alive for a surprising amount of time, but mostly that's because Constantine wasn't actually using a counterweight but just pretending to so no one repeatedly asked "why don't you have a counterweight" or told "you need a counterweight". Jericho does end up dead, about five years after he started being Constantine's counterweight. Constantine doesn't get another counterweight after that.
Btw, Alistair and Sarah update: Callum now exists, Constantine is pissed about it and says he looks like if a potato grew in size and mutated a face (he's just angry that his crush has a kid with Sarah instead of dating him)
Constantine is not mentally stable, nearly dies every fucking battle because of his lack of counterweight, but doesn't fucking care.
Instead of Master Joseph pretending to be the enemy when the battle happened (he'd have a few issues trying to look like Verity that he didn't have with Constantine), Verity just sends a lot of chaos ridden, and the close Massacre still happens but with less Declan because he's already dead.
Alistair and Constantine find the aftermath of the cold massacre together, Sarah and Call were still in it. Verity had possessed Calls body the same way Constantine did in cannon (this also later leads to transfem Call because soul was originally a girl). They see the kill the child words and both figure it out but agree to keep the secret.
Then after that less war and fighting and maybe just some angst and fluff mixed together. One of Joseph's minions pretends to be Verity instead of Joseph himself and it has the same effect, no one notices. Eventual alistine, but slow burn because torture is fun and both of them are scared to accept love after everyone else they've cared about either died, because a devoured, or joined the wrong side.
Alistair and Constantine attempt to raise Call and act sane. Constantine isn't great with children and they both suck at acting sane.
Also Constantine still got scars and burns on his face but they were from the battles instead of experiments, and Verity got similar scars while leaving the Magisterium, her mask looked different to Constantine's. It took longer for Constantine to start wearing the mask than in cannon (after the war ended) and it was made by Alistair.
(Sort of) happy ending but they all have trauma. I might make another post with how this ends up with the actual plot of the books not just before them but not now.

UGH I FUCKING FINALLY FINISHED THIS
so yeah, have the divine warriors of the second war of the magi!!
more deets n closeups under the cut :3

aph!! i like to think that although the incarnations of the divine warriors r generally pretty similar, they do have some minor differences. for example, whereas the matron of the first war of the magi (irene) had one of the sets of wings on her head covering her eyes, the matron of the second war (mcd!aphmau) has both of them held back. this is bc whereas irene had lost her humanity (and therefore the ability to connect with mortals), aph hasn't - and, therefore, her eyes are open to the struggles of humanity. additionally, i took a lot of inspiration from honkai impact 3rd for these designs - in aph's case, i was inspired by elysia's herrscher of human: ego battlesuit and how it looks like a wedding dress (which a lot of folks have interpreted as an expression of her love for humanity, which is smth i want to convey w aph).

i think my favourite part of aaron's destroyer form is his seal (the thingy behind his head like a halo). i wanted to rlly play into the whole destroyer/devourer aspect of his abilities and domains, and i thought a black hole would fit perfectly! it also sort of (unintentionally) plays into how i see the dynamic between the matron and the destroyer and how they're both mirrors of each other; whereas the destroyer, well, destroys (and his black hole devours everything in sight), the matron creates and nurtures (seen in how aph's seal is almost like a white hole). i also wanted his armour to look a lot like the armour that shadow knights wear, albeit without all the spikes and spines and whatnot given that he isn't a shadow knight himself (shad's destroyer form from the first war probably looks a lot more similar to traditional shadow knight armour).

i'm lowkey suuper proud of how travis's keeper form turned out (even if i had to go back right at the end n fix it bc i forgot to add his tail 😭). i wanted this form to sort of be a mix between a high mage and a rogue: whereas the keeper embodies knowledge and magick, travis himself is a prankster who relies on cunning and trickery to gain the upper hand on his opponents. as a result, he's the only one who doesn't automatically manifest a weapon when he shifts into this form - instead, i feel like he chooses to rely more on magicks and witchcraft during combat.

katelyn's design was lowkey the hardest to pin down. originally, i wanted to go for something that was suuuper inspired by roman armour and had a copper and teal/turquoise colour scheme, but it wound up feeling too magical girl-ish and i scrapped it. i've retained the roman inspirations, but i headcanon that her flames are so hot they burn blue, so i settled on a blue-and-white colour scheme w some purple elements. i think my favourite part is her gauntlets! i feel like she uses them as an extension of herself/another pair of hands to punch with. the blue elements also lean into menphia's association with the moon - in ashes, ashes, tu'la is based on the roman empire and, as a result, is where werewolves originate from, and with werewolves having such close ties to the moon.... yeah. i'll probably do a post on tu'la later on at some point.

my blorbo
garroth's design is probably the one that's changed the least, but i'll still need to update his ref sheet anyway. i don't know if i conveyed it very well but the sort-of wing-things on his back are slabs of earth that can be shaped into a shield - originally i had him holding a shield but i wanted him to look a bit more divine warrior-ish so i retooled his design.

the boy! i was tossing up between having vylad or dante fill the role of the wanderer, but i settled on dante as i feel like vylad fits better as a sort of weird guide sort of figure within the narrative. plus, i have a real soft spot for dante and wanted him to remain in the limelight a little bit - i love his dynamic with garroth and laurance and i wanted to explore that further. i sort of wanted to play into his whole red-and-blue colour scheme that we see in canon diaries, but bc kul'zak is a nature deity (specifically of the wilderness), i wanted to incorporate some greenery into his design. i hope i've done an okay-ish job here - overall i'm pretty happy tho, but i can't promise that there won't be any tweaks in the future.

this is a redhead laurance propaganda spreading blog and i Refuse to apologise for it. i'd like to think that laurance's original colour scheme is similar to his justiciar form - lots of beautiful reds and golds and oranges to match the flames of his father's forge - but after he comes back from the nether with a Severe fear of fire he switches to the greens and browns that he's known for in canon. eventually he slowly begins to reclaim his fire and returns to the golds and oranges that he's introduced with (haha colour symbolism go brrrrrr).
but yeah. the special interest is special interesting. let me know if u have any questions!

Twst x Fe3h (Fire emblem 3 houses)
I've been playing fe3h a lot since graduation so i figured i'd be fun to make something like this, i don't actually have the dlc so i hope the dlc class assignments i did seemed somewhat correct
General ideas:
1st years would usually be in beginner classes
2nd years in intermediate classes
3rd years in advanced classes
Instead of 3 houses we have 2 schools (3 if we add noble bell but honestly i'm leaning towards only 2)
Instead of the white heron cup the vdc decides who gets to be in the dancer class (which i guess could mean we can have up to 7 dancers??)
Good at flying a broomstick = Good at wyvern/ pegasus riding(?)
I'm planning on ignoring the fact that some classes are genderlocked because i think that locking certain classes behind gender is stupid
Despite the fact that everyone in twst is capable of magic i will be ignoring it because it would be boring if everyone was a mage/warlock/gremory
(Ideas and explanation for class choices under the cut)
Riddle:
I know i said 2nd years get put in intermediate classes but i feel like riddle should be an exception
The only thing stopping him from getting his master class is his his level not being high enough for the certification exams
I'm leaning towards dark knight instead of gremory (he's good riding so why not?)
I feel like his stat growth would be similar to lysithea's
He'd probably have the highest magic growth (His dorm card has the highest attack stat right?)
I think he'd have warp as a spell list?
He'd probably be good at reason, faith and riding
Bad at axes and heavy armor
Trey
A healer and i take no criticism on this
His dorm card is really good defense card with high heals so i think it fits
I think he'd be a less squishy healer (higher defense growth?)
His strength probably wouldn't be bad so maybe he'd excell even if he wasn't a healer
I'm thinking he'd be good at axes and faith
Personal ability would be similar to mercedes (??)
Cater:
Unlike with trey i do take criticism on this because i'm not sure what to class him as
I ended up going with wyvern rider since riddle has a line that says cater's good at flying
I wanna put him as a falcon knight but unfortunately it's a master class and i'd prefer to save that for a timeskip
I feel like he'd be good at lances idk
Maybe his doubles can all be deployed in battle with different classes??
I feel like he might end up being op?
Ace:
Myrmidon but i feel like he can fit into any beginner class tbh
When he gets older he probably becomes a trickster (people who have the dlc please confirm)
Despite both him and deuce being in the same class i figured i'd try to make some differences in their uniform
Decent dancer class candidate (good at swords, no weakness in learning reason or faith, probably decent charm stat)
I feel like he'd be the type to hide in bushes and forests a lot for the high avoidance(?)
Probably has a balanced magic and strength growth
Deuce:
Another myrmidon but with different intermediate class choices
Would probably go into thief or mercenary
Although i think archer is pretty good fit?
Obvious advanced class choice would probably be assassin
Another good dancer candidate (good at swords, high speed stat, budding talent in reason)
Unfortunately i feel like he'd suffer in the charm department but that can probably be fixed with stat boosters and tea parties
After that we can class him as a dancer with the +20 sword avo and he'd be a dodge tank
Alternatively he can be a brawler?? Instead of training him in sword we can go down the brawler path so he can be a war master in end game
#twisted wonderland#twst#twst x fe3h#riddle rosehearts#trey clover#cater diamond#ace trappola#deuce spade#i feel like every scarabia member would also be a really good dancer candidate#i feel like lilia and malleus would in their masterclasses by now but that's still up for debate#i genuinely have no clue what idia and ortho would be???#i marked jade and floyd down as dark mage and brawler/brigand respectively but honestly i'm not sure#sorry that it's messy

I've kept it under pretty heavy wraps for long enough, so I think it's time for me to actually talk about my fic The Smoke Still Lingers so people know what's coming. The finished thing is still probably a year off at least, but the end is in sight. And I'm sharing the first chapter now as a preview ;)
Taking place within my AU of course, it starts three years after the end of the Fourth War and five years after Teldrassil. Cathala and Tarinne have been living in Stormwind since then, making money where they can, unable to return to Kalimdor. And for those five long years it's been nothing but radio silence on Maiev and the High Priestess on their hunt for the Banshee Queen.
While on a trip to survey ruins in Hillsbrad, Cathala and Tarinne are blown off course by a bandit attack. Nothing too out of the ordinary for them, but it's what they find at the bandits' camp that turns this trip into a journey; they were hired by a sect of Sylvanas loyalists, somewhere on the continent, to collect materials for an unknown (but certainly sinister) purpose.
Vengeance, of some small kind, is finally within reach.
The trail goes a lot farther than they or the other two mercenaries who join them, Sairann the human mage and Nora the half-elf bounty hunter, expect. And it'll test them both as some of the worst moments in their lives come back like risen corpses to tear the wounds open again.
The dust of the war has settled, but the smoke still lingers.
...
If that piques your interest at all, well... here's the first chapter :)
((Logistics and content warnings below the cut))
It's definitely gonna break 100k words but not by too much. Probably in the 120-140k range if I had to guess. 35-40 chapters for sure, with alternating 3rd person POVs. Action-adventure type deal balanced with lots of emotion and a little established relationship F/F romance here and there.
Your major content warnings are: graphic violence, PTSD, a little fantasy racism, and drug and alcohol use. The violence is a given, trauma and grief are huge driving forces for both Cathala and Tarinne at this point in their lives, they both receive racial comments at a couple points (never more than that), and Cathala smokes fantasy weed and Tarinne drinks but it's only in an "atmospheric" sense. There will also be at least two fade-to-blacks during the body of the story and one full/mostly full sex scene towards the end.
Also, I will NOT be posting chapter-by-chapter, just the first one and maybe the second if I feel chapter 2 stands alone well enough. When the whole thing's done, I'll drop it all at once.
I am MORE THAN HAPPY to answer questions about this fic (well, I've actually started calling it a "book" at this point), of any sort, so please don't hesitate to send them in. It's my largest creative project ever, period, and I'm unbelievably excited for when it's done.

Round 3, Day 2 - ALL TEAMS (Extra Summon - Tempest)
The lone Faker stood in the midst of the storm, awaiting whoever was to challenge her.
A figure, spiraling down from the heavens and striking at the Faker. The Alter-Ego, beautiful and proud, engaged in swift close combat as her bladed legs danced against the sparking metal of the Faker's sword. They seemed to be evenly matched, as the Alter-Ego laughed.
"I don't get what all the fuss is about--! I could handle you by myself, you know?"
"Alter-Ego… I like that warrior's confidence, but it won't be enough!"
The Faker's eyes flashed, the Alter-Ego's movements slowing in a critical moment as she was struck off the chariot, only recovering fast enough to safely land on the ground to regroup. The chariot wheeled downwards, charging at the Alter-Ego before a gust of wind threw it off course, the Faker's attention turning to another Servant. The MoonCancer, hovering in the air with massive flapping elephant ears, venting to nobody in particular.
"Gh… why couldn't I have 'support-type' build? Then I could just hang back and throw out buffs while everyone else got in close with the fighting. Ahh-- whatever! If I'm a tank, then I'm a tank! Let's draw some aggro!"
With the Faker's attention drawn elsewhere, two more Servants rushed into the fray.
"The sound of lightning…!"
"Come, o' Blade of Flames!"
Two attacks, simultaneously struck at the Faker. One, a glittering roseate fencing blade thrust forward. Second, a dark saber of cursed flames slashed downward. Both attacks forced the rider of the skeletal chariot to reel, as she retaliated with her own sword, knocking them both away with a thunderous strike as they both spiraled in the air, struggling to catch themselves.
"Uwaah--! That sword… is fast…!" "Hahaha! She's a bit tougher than a standard Heroic Spirit! Good! Very good!"
On the ground, two Servants watched. One of them, a Pretender in a white cloak, held out his hands as magic sparkled outward, providing energy to the direct combatants as they fought against the Faker. The second, a Ruler wearing a heavy blue cloak against the storm, was waving her banner proudly, light shining from her body.
"You must be the Ruler, looking at how proudly you're waving that flag. I didn't take a Ruler for one to want a reward."
"I don't care for the reward, just for solving this Grail War. This battle... we'll have to work together, but by some metric one of us will be determined as 'the best'."
"An 'MVP', perhaps?" The Pretender chuckled. "So, nobody can afford to sandbag either. Everybody wants to be a winner, right? Even someone like you can't afford to lose."
She slammed down her banner, the harsh rainfall temporarily broken by golden light that pierced through like an arrow, covering all the participating Servants against the Faker-Class.
"You're right, I don't want to lose either...so, let's give it our all! Come, Faker! Let the battle begin!"
"Hahaha! Now this is what I love to see! In this bout, I shall serve as your seventh! So come, show me that warrior spirit! The greatest of you will face glory, and the cowardly will face punishment! Warriors of the Extra-Class, Mages of the modern era, distant as you may ever be-- show me your resolve, and Faker will return it in kind!"
Due to the presence of all participating Servants everyone is put on fair ground! No boosts or demerits apply, the results are what they are!
The Servant who does the most against Faker (as in, gets 1st Place) wins!
SCORING:
1st Place will receive a boost of their choosing from an assortment for their next round!
2nd Place will not receive any rewards, but evade punishment!
3rd through 5th Place will gain a -2% demerit during their next round! These demerits bypass any resistances!
Last place will gain a wound that bypasses any damage evasion passives!

There is something so cathartic about playing mage protagonists in Dragon Age games. Everyone in Thedas thinks its best to lock up the mages, until:
1. A Blight has to be stopped, and the wardens are starting from 2 recruits and some dusty treaties;
2. An anti-mage city needs help... with literally anything;
3. The literal sky splits open, the Divine is dead, and a civil war is raging;
4. An ancient elven god decides to bring back the elven glory days, fumbling a ritual and releasing 2 more of the ancient elven gods.
It's so ironic (and it is so so sweet when you can point it out in game!). Like Knight Commander Gregoir is SEETHING opening a letter about that one mage who was sent to the wardens as punishment for aiding a maleficar after the Blight ends. What do you mean they stopped the Archdemon AND LIVED? What do you mean they are The Hero of Ferelden now?
In Kirkwall, especially whenever you talk to anyone in any position of power, it's always "oh mages are so dangerous, we need to contain them" Only for the entire elite of the city to be saved by a dirty Fereldan dog-lover apostate refugee. At least from the Arishok.
Then imagine after those two, when the sky splits open, the only survivor is a mage. And seemingly, the only people with any idea on how to help fix the situation ARE mages (Solas, Dorian). And then they build a massive political alliance, largely on the basis of "Let's all play nice until we fix the sky".
And THEN when shit really hits the fan up north, you guessed it, another mage saves the world from 2 deranged elven gods and a 3rd one having a mid-millenium crisis.
Like yes, mages are scarily powerful, and we don't want Tevinter idea of mage freedom. But locking the mages up is shooting yourself in the foot majorly. Because at the end of the day, who is the MOST qualified to deal with the most terrifying magical incidents in the world of Thedas? Who would you want to stand between you and talking darkspawn/red lyrium/an ancient magister/ancient elven mages as powerful as gods? I guarantee you it will not be ser Quinn with his pathetic smites, strung out and deep in lyrium withdrawals. It will probably also not be some mageling you were teaching to be afraid to sneeze since the age of 5, lest they set the library on fire.
The world of Thedas NEEDS mage heroes because that is who can actually stand a chance against potential mage villains.

I just came up with a reason for the great magister Merlin to go to school!
It’s the same with Frieren lol. But Merlin wanted to rush things and do it in the quickest way.
Tw: bad english, lots of yap, slight Cyran/Merlin(Rose) but it’s one sided if you squint.

In my AU, the time when magic was booming is after the immortal war ended, and Merlin was busy helping people rebuild their civilization, stabilize things and eradicate scums for a few hundreds of years, she’s busy as hell.
When things were finally settled, she enrolled The Lyceum. No one at the academy took her seriously because she’s bad at learning things through books and words.
Elemental magic that can harness power from nature, which was on the rise at the moment was new to her, she was kind of against it actually because of the old teachings in her village, toying with nature is disrespectful (like- to the gods who has the right to controll it, not humans). Butttt after seing how it still works while sticking to that teachings, she gave it a pass but her brain can’t absorb the knowledge god damn it. Well at least she can use flames (the most destructive element of all 💀).
It’s really shameful how she helped building this school since the first stone was set in place and now she’s the top student from the bottom up. But thanks for her tendency to keep a low profile, only a few people (including immortal beings) ever saw Merlin’s true appearance, so she’s just this red head mage that came out of nowhere.
She got bullied for having a large amount of mana but can’t remember average spells. Even the head of The Lyceum, the only one who can help her learn didn’t know she was studying there 💀💀💀 girl was on her own.
If she can’t learn advanced magic, she’ll put it all into the basics and what she had mastered, and burn things up, the no one dies way.
She made her way into the top 100 students of the 3rd years (yes i imagine the students of The Lyceum has to go through 15 years before graduating) and met Cyran. Cyran was THE TOP STUDENT OF THE 3RD YEARS at the time, and he’s lowkey a bitch (an elegant mindful demure bitch) to Rose for the same reason she was bullied. I totally get him :,)))) to make it this high you must have skills, but with raw power alone is baffling, i’d find it weird too.
The head of The Lyceum FINALLY NOTICED HER MISERABLE ASS this time LMFAO. They screamed “MERLIN *FOREIGN UNKNOWN LANGUAGE*???” when they spot her in the- cafeteria equivalent of Lyceum(??) and proceed to grab her stupid i-don’t-need-help-that’s-cheating bullshit to their office without noticing the students surrounding her at the time.
Of course they took her in and taught her properly. Let me tell you the best way that she could learn is through sensations, being one with it, feeling it runs through her nerves and all that, if they could get her to feel it, she was able to learn it right on the spot.
Yeah they have to possess or take control over her and keep her consciousness intact to be able to succeed. That’s how she was able to learn exclusive Dura’s magic, Dura possessed her once, throwing hands once and Rose is good to go.
When the next exam (more like a tournament lol) hits, Cyran’s beloved position was given to Rose, and Rose handed his ass to him that round, using only basic spells. Of course Cyran hated her ass wdym Merlin is just this ruthless bad mannered red head raw power peasant and how dare she humiliated him yap yap that fucking mary sue yap.
He’d rather die than giving up, they competed (mostly because of Cyran, Rose just want to have a little motivation) for the next 11 years.
Rose got a hang of studying by the book eventually, combining her personal experience with the school’s teachings really helped with her study.
Eventually Cyran got something for her aside from hatred and spite as he grew older and look at his previous actions and thoughts, she wasn’t mean to him, he was mean to her first. She fought hard to be in that position as much as him. She got there with raw power, he got there with high social background.
From their 7th years and on, they have became friendly rival.
Turned out they don’t need to compete for 11 years, because Rose quit after 9 years of study because “i’ve mastered everything i need” and dip, leaving Cyran behind in the dust. It’s just a way of expressing, the Lyceum is clean, you can find jewels laying around but not dust.
And they never spoke or met for… idk, a thousand years?
Yeah that’s all :,)))) thank you for reading all this nonsense!

Hello, I'm returning to my bullshit - something is on my mind: why are enchanted items one of the few things that are actually cheaper in the 4th Era than in the 3rd Era?
I switch between playing Skyrim and Oblivion a lot, and while I'm sure this wasn't actually something Bethesda considered, it seems like economic inflation and possibly debasement of the Septim has started to set in by 4E 201, with most things being regularly more expensive than their counterparts in Oblivion. Obviously the losses of six of the Empire's provinces would severely damage the economy - but one thing actually stands out to regularly be cheaper in 4th Era Skryim than in 3rd Era Cyrodiil.
Enchanted items were stupidly expensive during the Oblivion Crisis!
Enchanted shirts being upwards of 6000 septims, when almost everything else is rarely more expensive than 600 really shows some scarcity in the market for Enchanted items. Meanwhile in the 4th Era, while still expensive, many Enchanted armor pieces and even weapons are only around 3000 septims at most until you start to see more rare gear like ebony and Dwemer relic armor.
The theory I have in my head is mostly that the 3rd Era Imperial economy was incredibly refined - despite political instability during the reign of the last Septim Emperor, in general the empire was a cohesive entity without major conflict. The average citizen's life allowed him to make a living and put away enough gold to spoil himself sometimes. It seems to me that Enchanted items, especially usefully Enchanted items, were a luxury good on the market.
In comparison, the Imperial economy in 4E 201 is struggling to cope with the losses, and what's crucial here, are that a lot of mages which participated in the Great War now need to find a way to make a living. Many of them may have Enchanted armor for the Legions either by private commission or large scale production. They may not be able to return home, particularly elven mages who remain loyal to the Empire. So they take what they know and sell it - I can imagine a sudden influx of Enchanted goods into the market that severely reduces the accepted price value of said items. Armor and weapons in particular would become extremely common as instability leads to banditry and monster attacks that adventurers now need to deal with while the soldiery is away.
Am I making sense? Am I insane? I would enjoy your input or additions if you see this. I'm sitting at my job waiting to clock in and wouldn't stop thinking about this until I put it down to text.

Level-Up Post: Mighty Nein: Echoes of the Solstice addendum
This is going to be short and sweet (ish) and covering deviations or clarifications to the pre-show post.
Everyone (except Luc) (and Aggy): level 20!
Fjord: I stand by my opinion that Open Sea Paladin 7's Aura of Liberation is superior to Hexblade 14's Master of Hexes, but both are very solid and the important thing is that Aura of Protection from paladin 6. We don't know his invocation but we do know his L13 Warlock Mystic Arcanum, Crown of Stars, or, more accurately to how he flavored it,
Beau: She DID take the mobile feat, and I'm so happy. 70 ft/round base walking speed. Monks, y'all.
Caleb: has the Wish spell; is using it solely, currently, to replicate lower spells, which is iconic of him. Responsible casting at its finest. One of his at-will 1st level spells is Fortune's Favor, but I don't think we got any of the others, and I believe his feat is also unknown.
Veth: We do not know; truly hilarious of Sam to do this. Don't worry; I'll talk about Luc in a second.
Jester: Her feat is Flash Recall, which is in the TCSR and allows you to replace a prepared spell with another spell of the same level without a long rest. Very good for Jester, whose spell prep is iconic in its eclecticism (complimentary).
Caduceus: much like his careful evasion of any questions from others asking how he was doing during the campaign (also complimentary), his feats - level 19 and level 16 remain a mystery (though we know his INT increased with his level 16 feat). In short:

Yasha: Took barbarian levels and has the CON and STR to prove it; also took Great Weapon Master, which is a solid option.
Our guests:
Rab "Aggy" Agg: Level 5 monk; no subclass we die like Bertrand Bell.
Luc Brenatto: I don't know how by how much the potion increased his level; at least to level 7 rogue (Evasion) from his base Arcane Trickster Rogue 5/War Mage Wizard 3. For a quick refresh on Arcane Trickster and rogue low levels, Luc has expertise, sneak attack, and uncanny dodge as well as the special arcane trickster mage hand abilities. He has 3 cantrips and 4 spells known from his rogue subclass. Meanwhile, as a wizard he has arcane recovery (not used; a long rest but no short ones), can prepare 6 spells from his spellbook, and he is treated as a 4th level spellcaster (1/3rd his rogue level rounded down plus his wizard level), so he can cast up to 2nd level spells. War mage is, on its own, notably a kind of shitty wizard subclass, but it's actually hilarious and pretty great as a multiclass option here. Luc used Arcane Deflection, which lets him use his reaction to grant either an AC bonus or a saving throw bonus, although when used you cannot cast spells other than cantrips until your next turn. This sucks if you are a wizard, but Luc is a rogue with an Aeorian security cannon, so it's fine. He also gets a +3 (INT mod) to his initiative.

Random DA Thoughts (1/?): Skyhold Layout
I have a tendency to hyperfixate. Here, my Dragon Age and medieval history hyperfixations merge together perfectly to answer the question: is Skyhold a functional castle?
The answer is obviously: no. Optimization and rendering have done away with quite a lot that is necessary to make Skyhold a truly livable fantasy Middle Ages-analog castle, up to and including all the cellars and cisterns that would be necessary to keep the population fed during the winter or in the event of a siege.
But it's close - close enough that with a few tweaks Skyhold could serve as a believable, livable mountain fortress.
Starting with the bird's eye view, my biggest changes are in the area immediately to the south of the keep - rather than keep the stables there, I've turned it into a kitchen yard with bakehouse, brewery, and coops - in addition to access to a kitchen garden.
The stables and a small stockyard have been moved to the lower bailey, but most livestock would by necessity be kept further down the mountain - and so would most dairying and butchering. Only the most high-ranked, like the Inquisitor's inner circle, would keep their horses in the keep. There might also be just enough cows or goats to provide daily milk needs, with cheese and butter coming from offsite.
Each of the nine towers would rise five stories - a ground level with four levels above, plus at least one sub-level with cellars, cisterns, and/or wells in the event the curtain walls are breached. For convenience sake, I have named these (clockwise, staring from the top): the North Tower, Wolf Tower, Kitchen Tower, South Tower, Eastern Gatehouse, Western Gatehouse, Star Tower, West Tower, and Courtyard Tower.
Ramparts can be accessed via the 3rd level of each tower. Some, like the gatehouses, have additional officer housing on the topmost level, as was common in medieval castles. Others, like the Courtyard Tower, have the infirmary in its lower levels, with medics and healers housed on the upper floors. The North Tower - which can be customized for mages or templars in game - is envisioned as mage tower here, with space for enchanting and requisitions on the ground level.
The keep's ground level and courtyard remain largely the same, merely be expanded upon. The courtyard gains a hothouse and a separate building for the chapel as well as hot springs access for bathing. The keep grows outwards, becoming more than just a great hall. Josephine's office also becomes the castellan's suite, gaining a waiting area and restricted access to their private chambers. The War Room is the ground level of the Wolf Tower, accessible only through the castellan's suite.
The 1st and 2nd levels are largely similar - with a lot of wasted space open the the great hall. I envision it as similar in size to Westminster Hall and imagine it must be a nightmare to heat even with magic. Main attractions include Vivienne's balcony and the chamberlain's office - which, as the chamberlain is historically in charge of managing the royal household, may well be Vivienne's rooms. Leliana, as the Inquisition’s seneschal, has the office and chambers on the second level.
The 3rd level is the one which required the most imagination, as other than the towers and outbuildings there's not a lot of obvious space where visiting nobles and other dignitaries might sleep - and those would likely be given over to military officers and servants respectively. So, drawing inspiration from the Winter Palace, we have a handful of household apartments here too.
The 4th level houses more than just the Inquisitor's bedchambers. Here, I've given them an actual office and a bedroom with a door that closes, as well as a second suite on the same level - perhaps if Vivienne isn't claiming the chamberlain's rooms, she has the two-room south-facing suite.
The rotunda extends up for two more levels, though for sanitation levels the ravenry has been moved to a different building. A balcony extends around the 6th level, offering a brilliant view of the Frostbacks - but politely cuts off before turning north, allowing those in the 4th level bedrooms privacy from prurient eyes.
There are also two sub-levels - the first provides more cellars as well as access to the secret library (behind a not-so-fake wine rack in the smallest of the cellars). The bottom-most has the undercroft as well as the hot springs - here imagined as largely untouched, with minimal masonry additions added for safety and privacy. (I'm really loving the images I've found of Deep Blue Hot Springs in Warrnambool, Australia, so something along those lines.)
Does this cover all bases? Probably not. There are a lot of latrines I've not bothered drawing and prefer to imagine as some lovely ancient elven version of internal plumbing, being emptied far from the castle's drinking water. The outbuildings I've added should provide more services beyond the blacksmith we see as well as servant housing. (Laundries. Coopers. Fletchers. Chandlers. The works.)
Anyway, I had a fun time making these. Feel free to offer up any comments or suggestions on what should be added or changed.

classes i take in my marauders DR ⋆。𖦹°‧
cores {subjects everyone has to take}
✩ transfiguration
commonly known as one of the hardest ordinary wizarding levels, transfiguration is a subject where the mage changes the form or appearance of an object, animal or person. In my year at Hogwarts, the top three (3) students in the year for transfiguration are: James Potter, Amelia Bones and Remus Lupin.
Transfiguration is taught by Professor McGonagall. Professor McGonagall is the strictest but kindest professor in the school. She is definitely the kind to play favourites, but being head of Gryffindor means she likes me and my friend group- plus we all genuinely enjoy her subject (even James & Sirius don't mess around).
✩charms
charms is the most popular subject in the school, with around 70% of students carrying it on past OWLs to NEWTs. Even though it is known for being easier than transfiguration, it is still one of the most tricky and well respected subjects Hogwarts offer, and most careers require at least an 'acceptable' at OWL level. The top three (3) students in the year for charms are: Remus Lupin, Lily Evans and Lola Lupin.
Charms is taught by Professor Flitwick. Personally, professor Flitwick is my favourite Hogwarts Professor, as a head of house he is always available for talking outside of charms about any problems and is genuinely my favourite to stop and chat with in the corridor. In lessons, people tend to not listen to him as he is quite lenient and doesn't lose his temper frequently.
✩potions
potions is another very well respected subject, and is one usually people love or hate. At its core personally I don't find it too difficult as long as you make sure to follow all the instructions exactly though I don't have a natural flare for the subject or instinct to add extra ingredients. The top three (3) students in the year for potions are: Severus Snape, Lily Evans and Dorcas Meadowes.
Potions is taught by professor Slughorn, a teacher only interested in the "greats" of the class and ignores everyone else. Personally I do not like him, I think he's self centered and an average teacher but I do see why some like him. He loves Lily and Dorcas for their natural inclination but loves Sirius and James due to only their families, like??
✩history of magic
in my opinion, this is the most misunderstood subject in hogwarts!! It is the most interest subject EVER with the most boring lessons. Me and Remus both love this subject as our mum used to read us books on Goblin rebellions and past Wizarding Wars and so had a love for it before the lessons could change our minds. The top three (3) students in the year for History of Magic are: Caradoc Dearborn, Lola Lupin and Remus Lupin (one of the only subjects where I beat my brother LMAO)
History of Magic is taught by professor Binns, who is the reason so many people hate the subject. LITERALLY HOW CAN THIS MAN MAKE EPIC BATTLES SO DULL?? Like pls someone replace him IMMEDIATELY. Everyone talks through his lessons and he doesn't know anyone's name 😭😭😭
✩defence against the dark arts
a subject all the younger years want to get properly into, but for me personally it is wayy too hyped. Like not many careers need it and it's very theory based for the actual exam. Personally I think they should add some coursework (maybe creating a defensive spell??) The top three (3) students in my year for DADA are: Remus Lupin, Dorcas Meadowes and tied 3rd - Sirius Black and Hestia Jones.
the teacher for this I KID YOU NOT changes every single year. Right now it is Professor Donaldson (most NPC ahh professor), but we have had a couple of really good ones and I'm pretty sure Flitwick takes the 7th year class.
✩astronomy
this is a staple at Hogwarts, and a subject they have always taught (for good reason), but I think everyone learns it differently so there are many different opinions about it. Personally, love doesn't encompass how I feel about astronomy. It is my all time favourite subject, favourite classroom and ughh I just love waking up at midnight to go up and check the planets. The top three (3) students in my year are: Lola Lupin, aurora sinestra, and remus lupin (finally top of the year in something) .
Astronomy is taught by the lovely professor Lepaute, who is an old french woman and has a very kind and quiet teaching style. In our lessons she lets us get on with it and works her way round the classroom, helping individual students one to one. She is also the person to be genuinely so in love with passing her love of her subject onto us. She taught at Beauxbatons for most of her life and came to the Scotland for a more peaceful life (not sure if she found it here 😓)
✩herbology
Many I know are unsure why it is compulsory, yet enjoy it. A very useful subject for very hands on jobs such as Healers. Personally I enjoy it yet don't put much effort into it- but everyone I know that enjoys Herbology is a really sweet person so maybe that says something? The top 3 in my year at Herbology are: Peter Pettigrew, Benjy Fenwick and Lily Evans.
Professor Sprout, who teaches herbology, is really funny and makes the lessons nice- also decorates the greenhouses. I also have never seen her play favourites - and seems to like everyone but also controls my class pretty well. She's head of Hufflepuff so exactly how you imagine.
[all of these i will expand on in later posts]
electives {subjects you chose in 3rd year}
ancient runes
arithmancy
divination
music
wizard politics
clubs {after school commitments you do not get qualifications for}
gryffindor book club
frog choir
* I have used the word mage to mean any person who wields magic. I know wizard and witch are not technically gendered but they feel gendered, and non binary / non gender confirming people deserve a place too.<3

Mass text from Director Lazard:
Attention! According to my sources, the Department of SOLDIER is getting a surprise inspection by the President in less than 2 hours. Please wear your uniforms (shirt included!) and be on your best behaviour. If you have to, you can use the storage room 4903, but please no human or animal corpses this time. Use the incinerator in R&D. Please remember to pick up all your belongings after the inspection, let's not traumatise our cleaning staff again.
The Fire Olympics scheduled for Saturday is an unofficial event and we are NOT going to mention it to the President.
Kind regards,
Lazard
Inspection Day
• Lazard sends the email, then casually goes back to work, reviewing some documents, the norm. The SOLDIERs are a handful, sure, but trusts his men. They're good people and that's why he's letting them have the fire olympics. After all, they deserve it. They've been on his best behavior lately and—why does he smell smoke and hear screaming?
• He gets up and rushes out into the main hallway.
• First thing he sees is Sephiroth running from a determined Angeal and four other SOLDIERs. Angeal has a uniform shirt in his hands and the others are all holding tranquilizer guns.
• Angeal is laughing manically while chasing him, screaming "HAHA WE GOT YOU NOW BITCH" and Sephiroth is heard replying with "I REFUSE. NEVER. OVER MY DEAD BODY."
• Genesis is crying. He's playing tug of war with his red coat while two 3rds try to wrestle it away from him.
SOLDIER: Commander, I understand why you're upset, but it's not part of the issued uniform!
Genesis: But I'm the Crimson Commander! The Red Mage of ShinRa! How else am I supposed to show that I'm special!?
• Meanwhile Kunsel stumbles out of Genesis's office looking dazed and petrified.
Kunsel: The amount of illegal shit in this man's office OH MY god. Zack! Hey Zack, help us drag some of this kerosene, gasoline, fireworks, Molotov cocktails, Dynamite, Sephiroth cardboard cutout filled with bullet holes, and what I hope isn't drugs down into the storage room...Zack? Zack, where are you going?
• Zack ignores him. He's holding a box of leashes and cages and looks as white as a sheet.
Zack, mumbling to himself: I knew this was going to happen one day. Okay, Zack, you got this. You got this, don't panic.
• And then Cloud stumbles out of Angeal's office holding a.... suspicious..plant.
Cloud: CODE RED. CODE FUCKING RED. HEWLEY HAD MARIJUANA IN HIS OFFICE.
• Angeal, who was passing by holding a struggling Sephiroth with duct tape over his mouth, stops cold in his tracks.
Angeal: I had WHAT in my office?
Genesis, hopeful: Oh! It grew!? <3
Angeal: YOU WERE GROWING WEED IN MY OFFICE???
• At that moment Zack walks buy with about 8 dogs on leashes and a cage under his arm that contains a feral hamster.
• But no one pays attention because Sephiroth has freed himself, tears away his shirt, and is running away screaming through his duct taped mouth.
• Angeal and the other SOLDIERs run after him, nearly crashing into a dispirited Roche coming in
Roche: Bad news, guys. How are we gonna cover the hole in the lounge wall from the time I drove through it on my bike?
• Zack walks buy with 3 pigs on leashes and an exotic bird on his shoulder.
• Angeal walks back in dragging Sephiroth. Sephiroth has his hands and feet bound. They put him in another shirt and are now left with the arduous task of tying his hair up.
Sephiroth: #$*@&!
Angeal: Woah! You kiss your mother with that mouth?
Sephiroth:
Angeal: Ah shit, man, sorry.
• Zack rides by on a horse.
• Genesis walks in wearing the standard SOLDIER uniform without his added accessories.
Genesis: No, no, noooo! I look so boring! How am I supposed to—ACK!
• Kunsel crashes through the ceiling and falls on top of Genesis. Genesis is now partially unconscious on the floor covered in white dust, and there is now a gaping hole in the ceiling.
• Kunsel: Guys, quick, someone help me burn these illegal documents I stole from the turks and was hiding in the vents!
• A few SOLDIERS run out of the elevator hacking and coughing with watering eyes.
Luxiere: Commander Rhapsodos's illegal items broke the incinerator.
• Zack runs by chasing 7 chickens.
• Cloud runs in.
Cloud: You're not gonna believe this! Remember the stolen materia the Turks were investigating a few months back? I found the stash here. The culprit is a SOLDIER!
Genesis: Well they're not going to confiscate MY loot!
Cloud: IT WAS YOU!?
• Zack passes by with what could potentially be all of the Chocobos in Midgar.
• Angeal finally gets Sephiroth into the complete, official SOLDIER uniform sans accessories. Sephiroth looks severely miffed and wants to run away, but Angeal is holding a tranquilizer gun.
• Zack walks by with an Alligator. It's notable to mention that the alligator has a name tag that reads Lacoste.
• And then Roche walks back in.
Roche: Im gonna pass out. Did you guys read the handbook? Article 38 says all SOLDIER operatives cannot have hair that exceeds 30 centimeters.
• Angeal looks at Sephiroth.
• Sephiroth looks at Angeal.
• Angeal pulls out a razor.
Sephiroth: OH NO YOU DON'T
• Both he and Roche run away screaming.
Genesis: Oh, I almost forgot about the stripper pole we installed in the gym. Better go take that down.
• Zack rushes by riding an ostrich.
Lazard: I'm going to get fired.

Frieren timeline
The only timeline available on the wiki isn’t super fleshed out with exact dates and counting backwards etc. So I decided to make my own.
Notes:
1. Spoilers for up to manga ch119 (the most recent at this time)
2. Even if it’s likely just a rough measure (“three hundred years ago”), I’m gonna assume when doing my math that it was exactly 300 years, because otherwise I can’t do most of the math
3. I skip most events that don’t have an exact year, eg Fern and Stark respective being taken in by Heiter and Eisen. I do make some estimates (eg Sein’s birthday, we only know he’s in mid-30s so he can’t have been born any further back than year xx).
4. Standardised year 0 as the year the demon king was defeated
5. Realised about 2/3rds through that I could be writing down chapter citations but at that point it was too late lol sorry
behold!
-3,000: Earliest mentioned date, by Frieren re: dwarf beliefs; most people believed the dead turn to dust, so pre-Goddess. Unclear when Goddess actually starts appearing.
[Emperor Boshaft alive, so is Milliarde, Frieren in village]
-1,000: Frieren becomes Flamme’s apprentice
-950: Flamme passes away*
-510: the last time Frieren fought a demon (quite likely Macht, as in year 80 she says 600 years ago, which would be -520. What’s a decade here and there?)
-420: Frieren restores her golden arm
-422: Aura became one of the seven sages of destruction
-322: the last time Frieren saw another elf, Grandfather Voll starts to protect village
-222: the last time Kraft saw another elf
-120: Fass finds Emperor Boshaft’s alcohol, Gehn starts working on his village’s bridge
-26: Himmel is born
-11?: Hero of the South visits Frieren and dies a year later; tells her she’ll meet Himmel soon**
-10: Hero Party sets out from capital
[Hero Party kills Immortal Bose and pushes back Aura sometime during this period]
-3: Goddess arc (Himmel is 23), Hero Party seals Qual***
0: Demon King defeated, Era Meteors, Macht starts to serve^
2: Denken born
20: Macht is braceleted
28: Continental Magic Association started (at latest), Lernen was first first-class mage
29: Denken came to Auberst with his wife (who died when he was in his twenties); Denken’s wife presumably passed away very soon after
30: last sighting of a Darkness Dragon (per random apothecary); Weis turned to gold and sealed
39: Earliest possible Sein birthday (he would be 40); humanity learns to fly
45: Wirbel born

*Assuming she died soon after Frieren’s last shown convo with her where she said “it’s only been 50 years”
**Unclear just when was the Frieren/Hero of the South meeting, so it could technically be anywhere before, but -11 is the most recent it could be
***Frieren says it’s been 80 years in year 77. If she’s being precise then this is the date—but I have doubts as Qual was sealed in the Central Lands, and Hero Party should be well into the Northern Plateau near the goddess monument by this point.
^Technically I think Macht starts to serve a leetle bit before the demon king is defeated, but no time frame given for how long it took Macht and Glück to have those convos
^^To be more precise: they start the year’s winter with Kraft. Then it gets warm, and Stark’s birthday happens. Harvest festivals are usually in autumn, which is when they meet Sein, and then it gets cold enough for the gang to wear their winter gear again, and they spend a winter (or a cold snap?) with Sein. When they get to Auberst they spend an additional two months training with Fern while waiting for the exam to start. But when they finally leave Auberst in ch61, and aren’t wearing their winter clothes anymore, it’s still listed as 29 years post-Himmel death??? There’s a mention of it being because they’re in the volcanic belt… But seriously, year 79 goes on and on. I honestly think the authors just forgot to find a good spot to switch that over lol
