Another parliamental election is coming up in Belarus. It'll be rigged in Lukashenko's favor again.
I feel hopeless. Four years ago the streets were filled with protestors among which was my uncle. People were locked up, beaten, raped and murdered by the military. Even still anyone who dares to utter anything against the dictator is going to be silenced one way or another.
I don't think there is going to be another wave of protests again. Maybe a couple fringe groups of people will stand up but Lukashenko has shown us one thing: He is a tyrant and will use any means necessary to keep Belarus tightly in his iron fist.
I doubt that even the media will pay any attention to the elections. The slacktivists definitely won't. It's going to be another silent sweep of rigged elections, oppression of any opposition and Lukashenko the swine escapes the consequences again.
I wish someone would finally kill the bastard.
I'm angry and sad.

Assad Meetings and Visits That I Really Wanted to See:
Going to North Korea (DPRK) for a few days and meeting Kim Jong-un. They were pen pals for a long time (tbh I wouldn't be surprised if this continued) and given their awkward personalities and similar life experiences, there would be an instant bond. He'd probably get to see parts of North Korea that are very rarely seen by anyone else (and us in any official photos) and possibly gifted a portrait of Hafez and Kim il-Sung, and a new pet, like a horse
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro coming to visit with Cilia and his son. While Nicolas Maduro Guerra would be visiting universities and religious sites, Bashar, Asma, Nicolas and Cilia would be exploring Damascus and the souks. Maduro's exuberant, excitable personality would really shine through, possibly forcing Bashar to make a few awkward TikTok videos
I feel like Asma meeting Janja da Silva and Veronica Alcocer (Gustavo Petro's wife) would've been somewhat realistic
Visits to Central Asian countries and Abkhazia
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko coming to visit (no Umka though, although I think Zein would've loved Umka. How can you not love Umka?!)
The Alliance of Sahel States leaders dropping by - Assimi Goïta of Mali, Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso and Abdourahamane Tchiani of Niger
I was actually kinda hoping that he would've gone to that climate change summit in the UAE, but his prime minister at the time went instead
The big one, that I was really hoping for one day, was a Bashar al-Assad and Saif al-Islam Gaddafi meeting. I even had two dreams about it, including one rather vivid one just a month after Saif's NYT comeback interview
Bashar meeting Saif off the plane at the airport, the car ride to the palace, the public meeting, the closed-door meeting where things might get emotional, but replaced with laughter - and heck, Saif pretends he isn't shy and awkward but he is and always has been. Bashar might even try on Saif's bisht
Then they'd sign agreements and hug and raise each other's clasped hands into the air
Imagine Arab Summits with Saif and Bashar. Now there's going to be no-one

The situation with the only reliable information from Hamas reminds me of the situation in my country, in short, the Polish-Belarusian border, where Polish journalists were not allowed (Because they turned this area into a "state of emergency", the funny thing is that they didn't do it during the pandemic, so yes, you can guess, that the messages from Poland were mainstream and usually attacked people who were imprisoned and denied that there were no children there, even though there were)
Coming back, the only sources that talked about what was happening there were, ironically, the Belarusian ones, because the Polish ones lied, treating these people as bad, because they had the nerve to be angry with the Polish border guards after all the shit they did to them, those who used the Belarusian ones. information were attacked for believing in propaganda (Sound familiar?), even though that ironically she was the most credible on this topic
Today we have this with Hamas, it is the only reliable source (Apart from the Palestinians themselves) and it shows how something that people consider bad turns out to be the only way to reliable information, in such times we live

apparently Lukashenko told his prime minister to "strengthen relations with Poland" because "we're Slavic brothers" ????? my guy you've been constantly threatening to attack us with the help if Wagner's group and to nuke Warsaw. Wagner's group members are literally on the border, simulating attacks on our territory. what the fuck

I love how Donald Tusk is concerned about the deportation of Poles from the USA, but he himself strengthened the borders on the Polish-Belarusian border, where people from Afghanistan who were deceived by Lukashenko are imprisoned
Besides, this man didn't arrest Benyamin Natajahu when he showed up in Poland, so what are we talking about?
