Sirius’ knuckles rap loudly on your door.
“Fuck, ease up.” James winces. “She’s gonna think we’re the cops.”
“Good. Maybe she’ll answer for them.”
“You need to calm down.” Remus’ voice is patience with a firm edge. “We don’t know what’s going on. If we go in angry with her, it’s not going to help anything.”
“I think I have the right to be somewhat miffed,” Sirius argues. “You ghost someone after a first date, not once you’re in a relationship. It’s fucked.”
“She’s not ghosting us,” James says certainly. Sirius’ mouth pinches in response.
James knows that, truly, his boyfriend is as worried as any of them. You’re well past the point in your relationship where you feel the need to establish the next time you’re going to meet before parting, but after your date last week it took the boys a few days to put it together that none of them had heard from you.
At first, James presumed you’d simply gotten busy. Remus was convinced he’d done something to upset you. Sirius, secretly the most prone to worry, would rather believe he’s been slighted than consider the possibility that something might be keeping you from responding to their calls. Now that it’s been nearly a week, James is convinced something’s happened. You’ve had to take an emergency trip out of town or something’s spooked you and made you avoid them or—worst case scenario—you’re ill and have been holed up here with no one to check in on you for almost a week.
Once he brought up that idea, it wasn’t difficult to convince his boyfriends to do a wellness check during their shift.
“Just don’t be harsh with her,” Remus says gently.
Sirius huffs. He knocks again, albeit somewhat softer.
“NHS,” he calls.
James holds his breath when he hears some shuffling from inside. Gradually, it gets closer and louder, until the door is creaking open and you’re peering through the crack.
Your voice is scratchy, like you haven’t used it in a while. “What’re you doing here?”
James expects Sirius to snipe at you, is already prepared to smooth it over himself with kinder words and a gentler tone, but something seems to shift in the other boy at the sight of you. He pushes through the crack in your door, hugging you fiercely.
“We…” Remus seems as thrown by this deviation as James is. “We thought we ought to check up on you.”
Your hand migrates up, touching Sirius’ back tentatively. “Why?”
“It’s a wellness check.” Sirius’ voice is bitter, but the effect is somewhat muddled by how he’s speaking into your neck. “We had reason to believe you could be harmed or deceased.”
“Oh,” you murmur.
James takes a moment to look you over. You’re in pajamas, visibly rumpled, and yet you look as tired as if you’ve not slept in some time. There’s something off about your expression, something missing that he can’t put his finger on. It’s unsettling in a way that makes him want to wrap you up in a tight cuddle and not let go.
“Are you okay?” he asks, perhaps more brash than he means to be. Normally he’d expect more tact from himself, but he’s shocked Sirius hasn’t asked yet, and someone has to.
“Can we come in?” Remus asks at the same time.
You look between them like you’re not sure what to do with them. Like you’re questioning whether you’re still in some sort of dream.
“Yeah,” you say after a moment. James gets the sense you mean it to answer both of them. You step back from the door to make room for them, and Sirius moves with you. “Um, forewarning, it’s really bad in here.”
Really bad by your standards isn’t the same as James’. If he hadn’t seen the way you normally keep things, he’d never notice anything was amiss. Your place smells a bit stale, like when you leave for a weekend and then come home. There’s a laundry basket on the floor with a few balled socks like you’d started to fold them and given up, and if he peers into your bedroom he can see a small trash pile on your floor and the covers of your bed all twisted up. It’s no worse than his side of the dorm he’d shared with Remus and Sirius in school.
“What happened?” Sirius asks you. His voice sounds clearer now, and James focuses back in to find that he’s let you go enough to press his forehead to yours. His brow and lips are pinched. “Why have you been avoiding us?”
James is nearly overcome by the desire to kiss him and rub his back, but he decides to let you have the honor, if you want it.
You look unsure whether you do.
“I’m sorry.” The words seem scraped out from some aching part of you. “I wasn’t trying to.”
“Then why didn’t you answer our calls?” Sirius’ tone matches yours for desperation. Remus’ expression twinges compassionately.
“I couldn’t.”
“Why not?”
“Sirius,” Remus chides softly.
Your shoulders are slumped, but when Sirius moves away you seem to droop further. He’s only giving you space, his expression far from unkind.
“Why couldn’t you pick up, dove?” Remus asks gently.
“I…” Your eyes meander the floor. “I didn’t know what to talk about. And then my phone died, and it was just easier. I’m really sorry.”
“Is talking to us really that bad?” Sirius is clearly making an attempt at joking, but the heartache underlying his words is unmissable.
“No,” you sigh. “I’m just not really fit for the world right now. I didn’t want you to worry.”
James’ ribs hurt at your admission, but he feels himself nodding. Even if he doesn’t know exactly what it is you’re dealing with, he’s familiar with people who think they’re somehow so damaged they don’t deserve to engage with anyone or anything. Sirius was like that once. Remus even more often. He sees the recognition on both of their faces now, pity and love and regret all tangled up into one messy thing.
“Well, it was a noble effort,” says James, giving you a small smile, “but you can’t stop us worrying. Can I hug you?”
You nod, making an effort towards returning his smile. It’s a half-hearted, flickering thing, but he appreciates it nonetheless.
He kisses your forehead as he folds you into his arms, starting gentle and tightening when you hug him back. Your grip feels a bit weak, if ardent. James pushes his palm up your spine.
“Have you eaten today, sweetheart?”
Your hum in the negative vibrates against his skin.
“I’ll make us something.” Remus starts toward the kitchen, passing a hand over James’ curls as he goes by. “A sandwich alright, dovey?”
“Yeah,” you murmur. “Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.” His voice raises as he enters the kitchen, and James knows he wants you to hear. To understand that this is something he would happily do for you.
“Let’s sit down,” James suggests. “Pads, would you mind opening the curtains some?”
Sirius complies with vigor, whipping open your drapes while James gets you situated on the couch. In the light, the shadows under your eyes are more evident, as is the redness in them.
James squishes you up against his side. Rubs up and down your arm. “It’s okay,” he murmurs.
You make a tiny, stymied sound, and turn your head down.
“Hey.” Sirius sits on your other side. He kisses your shoulder, worry hewn into the lines of his face. “What’s wrong?”
Your shoulders give a little shake. It’s small, defeated. You curl further in on yourself.
“Oh, baby. I’m so sorry.”
“You don’t have to explain,” James tells you, continuing to drag his hand up your arm. “It’s okay. You’re alright.”
“I wanted—” You take in a wet inhale. He feels close to tears himself. “I wanted to be better when I saw you. I’m sorry.”
“We don’t need you to be any sort of way, sweetheart.” Sirius’ voice is soft but fervent. “We just want to be with you.”
“As much as you’ll let us,” James agrees. His own voice is thick, and Sirius slides his arm around you to rub between his shoulders.
You don’t say much after that. James holds you tight until your trembling stops, and even then he only loosens his grip to let you eat the grilled cheese Remus has made for you. From the wrappers he saw in your room, it’s likely the closest thing to a prepared meal you’ve had in some time.
When you’re done eating, Sirius insists on kissing the saltiness from your cheeks even though your tears have dried. Remus coaxes you into a bath while James and Sirius tidy your room and change your sheets, and then Remus enlists Sirius to shampoo your hair while he tucks your sheets in more effectively. They put your phone on the charger. James makes dinner and puts it in the fridge for you to have later. None of it fixes anything, but he hopes it makes you feel less alone.
When they have to go out for another call, Remus gives you a long hug, James makes you agree to go on a walk with him the next day, and Sirius threatens to pester you with calls until you block his number if you ignore them ever again.
Your eye roll at his antics makes James’ heart sing.

hey! i am obsessed with the lifeguard!james series, i was thinking of an idea for part 8
so someone in the groups has like a cabin in a the woods and everyone goes out there for the year, and this year james is coming too - so basically we are all walking up to the cabin (maybe we can have a cute scene where we reveal some stuff about us in a convo with james) and we get there are draw names for who’s sharing and ofc we ‘accidentally’ get james so we’re basically sharing a room for two days and a bed - maybe we finally kiss by the end 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

the stereo pumped an old classic at volumes that should have been illegal, but no one was complaining. you all sang along, crammed into marlene’s truck. you assumed sirius’ car wasn’t far behind, but it wasn’t in your sight.
you were in the backseat, legs stretched across james’ lap as he stared out the window. lily and marlene sat in the front seat, marlene the only one allowed to drive her ancient truck.
“so who’s place is this again?” james asked you quietly as the other two fought over radio stations.
“sirius’, of course. his family’s fucking loaded, they have this place in the woods and a boat docked down on the coast — ‘s ridiculous, honestly.”
“so why aren’t they spending the long weekend here?”
“who could say? they’re probably in greece or paris or kicking puppies or something.”
“good riddance,” marlene called, looking at you in the rearview mirror, “better for us.”
sirius’ cabin was only a few hours out from your town, but it felt like a whole other world. away from the hustle of town, the trees loomed over you in a knitted canopy, sunlight streaming through to make you all lazy and good-tempered.
you got stuck on luggage duty with james, payment for not having to do any of the driving or navigating.
“i can’t believe this,” you grumbled, slinging lily’s bag over your shoulder, “this is un-feminist.”
“it was 75% girls in that car, do you think any manual labour is unfeminist?” james asked with a smile.
“no,” you shot back quickly, “just any that i have to do.” james just laughed with a roll of his eyes, taking your bag out of your hands so you just had the one. you put up a half-hearted fight, which dissolved into an uncharacteristically shy smile, quickly trying to create a comeback or something to keep your banter going.
“how far away is this place?” james asked, craning his neck to catch a glimpse of where you’d be staying.
“dude, it’s so far,” you huffed, “the blacks are so stupid rich that you can’t even park at the cabin — it would ruin the freaky, isolated vibe if you could just see cars. you have to hike just to get there.”
a thin path stretched before you, grey stepping stones extending into the distance. the walkway was framed with trees, making the whole area hushed and peaceful.
“so why does sirius hate his parents so much?” james asked, letting you step onto the stones before him.
“they’re the worst. stupidly, ignorantly rich, they don’t respect him at all. we think they, you know, or have, but he’s never said anything. still, he sleeps over at one of ours almost every night during the school year. it’s a little better over the summer though, his parents fuck off to some exotic vacation and we get free reign of his place.”
“you guys are really good friends, huh?” james watched you hop from stone to stone, careful not to step on dirt in your own private game.
“we’ve basically all known each other since birth, it’s us or nothing. not much changes around here,” you sighed, then gave a small smile, “at least until you came, baywatch.”
“glad to be of service,” james laughed, messing with his hair. “so do you like it here?”
“god no! it’s so bloody boring — i mean, except for this summer, i suppose. but i can’t wait to get out, see the world, you know? not to influence your opinions or anything,” you joked, taking a moment to admire the sunlight filtering through the tree leaves.
“you don’t have to worry about that.” james shook his head, “this town sucks, respectfully. i mean, you’re the best thing about it by far — meaning the group! obviously!” you burst out in laughter, looking back at james with a grin.
he was all of a sudden startled by your appearance. twisting to glance back, you were bathed in golden sunlight, illuminating your features. your smile almost matched the glow, the whole moment moving as if in slow motion.
“good save, loverboy,” you teased, but james was slow to reply, taken aback by the moment. he stumbled over a comeback as well as his own feet, tripping to catch up to you.
finally, the whole gang had made it up to the cabin; you and james with the bags, and the other car, which had taken an extra rest stop and was twenty minutes behind.
lounged across the living room, you all looked to lily for what you knew was coming, except james. she flourished to present her hat, filled with your names on scraps of paper.
“alright, i will be rooming with… mary!” you all applauded like a ridiculous late-night show audience.
“why is this happening?” james asked in a whisper, leaning closer than strictly necessary to ask it. goosebumps raised where his mouth hovered next to your ear.
“peter and marlene both snore like hell, but neither of them want to share a room because they wake each other up. so we do it by chance, no one can get mad.”
“diplomatic.” james nodded, impressed.
you felt your stomach sink and dissolve into flips as lily read the next pairing: sirius and remus. you had terrible chances, either you got stuck with an awful snorer, or you were going to room with james for the weekend. you didn’t know which would be more intense.
the suspense ended with both peter and marlene yelling in dramatised agony; you would be sharing a room with james. lily looked much too pleased with herself for it to be an accident, but you didn’t say anything. how could you? it wasn’t like you were disappointed by it.
“come on, pretty, show me to our room,” james said from the sofa with a cocky grin, and you tried not to admire his thighs as he man-spread in his obnoxiously short shorts.
neither of you said anything as you walked into the bedroom you’d been allocated to, the elephant in the room staring you both in the face. one queen-sized bed. the room felt like it was heating up, but maybe that was just the unspoken tension between the two of you.
“we can put some pillows up or something, i don’t mind,” james said, turning to face you with the unnerving vulnerability you still hadn’t gotten used to. looking at him made your knees weak, so you surged ahead, tossing your duffle bag on the small armchair and opening the curtains. ”don’t be ridiculous, we’re not thirteen. we’re friends, we can keep things professional.”
“is that what we’re doing?” you could feel james behind you, hovering but not making contact. “are we strictly professional?”
you turned to face him, momentarily surprised at your closeness, you were practically mouth to mouth. you both stilled for a minute as you held loaded eye contact, the quiet of the room heavy around you. it would take the tiniest movement from either of you to finally —
“can you guys hurry up and get ready for the pool?” marlene yelled from down the hall, “we want to officially christen it together.”
you both jumped apart, a sudden shyness overtaking you. you bundled your towel and a book in your arms and gave james a small smile as you walked out.
“well, come on, baywatch. we haven’t got all day.” james was on your heels like a puppy, stuttering half-formed arguments about how you didn’t really need to go down to the pool. you laughed them off, continuing straight-faced towards the garden.
the pool was gorgeous, obviously. everything connected to sirius’ family was. you weren’t much of a swimmer — more of a sunbather if anything — but you were sure that if this pool were yours, you’d have wrinkly fingers all year-round.
you floated on the surface of the water, enjoying the feeling of the sun on your front half and the cool water on the back. your friends were chatting or playing around you, but the whole garden had a serene air about it, peace coming from fleeing your town.
that was, at least, until james swam across the bottom of the pool, popping up to grab your middle and pull you under with him, your scream cutting off as you were dunked.
“dick!” you laughed as you resurfaced, slapping james’ chest, trying to ignore the muscle definition under your hands. you pushed yourself off the pool floor, intending to jump onto james to take him down in retaliation, but he was two steps ahead of you, catching you with his hands around your waist, slamming you again into the water as you laughed hysterically.
you both wrestled in the water as the others watched on, laughing at the ridiculousness.
“sirius!” you yelled, glancing over your shoulder, “help me!” sirius looked between you and remus in disbelief, reluctantly pushing himself up.
“come on, mckinnon, i’m not gonna be the third wheel here. take him down with me.” the two dived into the pool, helping you to finally overpower james and dunk him under the water. he put up an honourable fight — clearly his hours at the gym weren’t for nothing.
“alright, alright!” james laughed, putting his hands up in surrender, throwing you away from him one more time.
“chicken?” marlene asked, not wanting to waste getting in the water. you brightened up at once, nodding eagerly.
“c’mon, baywatch. don’t let me down now.” you grinned, pushing james down by his shoulders so you could sit on them, not not noticing the ease with which he held you up.
you stared down marlene with playful seriousness, preparing for a fight. peter was your referee, commentating for the rest of the group as you began to fight.
you and marlene interlocked fingers, reaching and wobbling as you tried to knock the other off. the group’s interest had been piqued, gathering around to cheer and trash-talk as the four of you battled.
“hold on, babe,” james said amongst the chaos, clearly not realising what he’d said and pursued his original goal, shifting you around as he grabbed marlene’s feet, launching her backwards off of sirius’ shoulders, winning you the game.
you put aside your feelings about james’ little pet name, jumping off his shoulders to throw your arms around his neck. you yelled with glee, making a splash as the two of you celebrated.
“suck it, losers!” you yelled, sticking your tongue out at your opponents. james hoisted you up so you were sitting on one of his shoulders, flexing your own biceps as if you were the one who made any impact in the game.
“whatever, let’s switch. you up for it, potter?” marlene asked, high-fiving you as you passed her to get to sirius.
“take him down,” sirius laughed, dipping under the water so you could get on his shoulders. “you’ve got the power here.” you just giggled, shaking your head as you prepared.
just before peter counted down to start, you adjusted your triangle bikini top, ensuring you were safe for physical activity. james caught the moment incidentally, and he was a goner.
peter yelled for you both to start but james hardly heard, eyes locked on the bounce of your breasts as you leant to attack marlene, laughing freely as you held onto each other. james was in a daze, enraptured by your body and your boobs, bouncing dramatically as sirius took an underwater step towards james, ceremoniously shoving him over.
james, completely distracted, took the fall with full force, bringing both him and marlene crashing into the water with various profanities.
“dude,” marlene moaned when she resurfaced, “what’s the point of all those muscles if you’re gonna lose a fucking strength game?”
“sorry,” james said, tone somewhere in between trying to make it out as a joke and shameful that he really, truly lost a game of chicken because he was staring at your tits.
he caught sirius’ eye — purely by chance — and flushed a deep shade of red when sirius winked, enjoyment clear on his face.
“no hard feelings, right, mate?” he grinned, the innuendo clear to the boys but innocent enough that no one else would notice. james shoved him playfully, and the moment was over; everyone going back to what they were doing before.
by dinner, the whole group was exhausted in the way that only happened on the summer holidays, when the sun and water had wiped you out and only a hazy pleasantness remained.
you lounged around on the ridiculously nice outdoor furniture, gorging on pizzas and pastas that remus, peter and mary had cooked for you all. you, lily and sirius were on cocktail duty, mixing drinks with ridiculous alcohol content, mostly due to sirius.
you were all ridiculously happy, the summer evening breeze only lifting your spirits with it. remus had put on one of his incredibly niche playlists, which made you feel like you were coming to the end of a coming-of-age movie.
the group was playing catan, all lounged around the beautiful glass outdoor coffee table, a few candles and lamps illuminating the board through the night. to fit the six-person limit, you and james were on one team, to which all your friends shot you knowing looks, and sirius and peter were another team, whilst everyone else played on their own. ordinarily, remus and sirius would, of course, be playing together, but remus got surprisingly competitive, and no one wanted to disrupt his master plan.
to say you were playing was an overstatement; james did all the important gameplay with one arm wrapped around your waist, absentmindedly tracing gentle patterns on the exposed skin from your bathing suit, which made it difficult for you to focus on very much at all. you were cuddled into his side under the guise of an evening chill, though making no moves to rectify the situation with any other clothing or blankets.
it was past midnight when you all called it a day, everyone helping to clean up and wash the dishes you’d used.
“you go up and change or whatever, i’ll just finish drying these,” you told james, wiping a dishtowel over a plate. he nodded, disappearing around a corner.
you did your chore in peaceful silence for a few minutes as remus washed up next to you. it was quiet until lily walked in for a glass of water, leaning suspiciously against a countertop.
“aren’t you glad james is part of our group now, remus?” she said, voice dripping with false innocence. remus rolled his eyes playfully next to you, committing to lily’s bit anyway.
“yeah, he’s a really nice guy. hope he sticks around for a while.”
“alright, cut the shit, evans. say whatever it is you’re talking around.” you smiled despite your harsh words, turning to face her with a hand on your hip.
“i’m just wondering when you’re gonna make an actual move.”
“oh, fuck off,” you laughed, going back to drying.
“to be fair, you’ve been torturing the poor guy all summer,” remus said, “and it’s obvious you actually like him now, not just as a set of abs.”
“you guys make me sound so terrible.” both your friends exchanged a look, and lily just wished you luck as she disappeared back toward her bedroom.
you met james up in your room soon after, changing in the bathroom into your pyjama shorts and t-shirt you’d picked up a million years ago.
“nice outfit,” james said from the bed, and you realised how stupid the childish design must look. rainbows and care bears faded from hundreds of washes.
“shut up,” you giggled, sliding into your side of the bed, switching off the lamp so you were showered in darkness. you and james were both laid on your sides, facing each other. one hand was under your cheek, the other resting on the mattress between you both.
you chatted about nothing for a while, the light of the moon and stars illuminating james’ features as he told you about the football match that happened over the weekend. you were perfectly happy talking about absolutely nothing with james, you were honestly surprised at the way you were yet to run out of conversation over a summer of almost constant hanging out.
the conversation lulled for a moment, both of you staring into the other’s eyes. over your talk, your hands had subconsciously gravitated together, pinkies barely brushing.
“tell me a secret,” you said. the world seemed quiet around you, only the occasional chirp of a cricket outside disturbing your bubble.
“i really like singin’ in the rain,” james confessed, “i know it’s uncool but i rewatch it every time i’m sick.”
“that is so cute,” you grinned, lifting your resting hand up to mess with his curls. james swatted your hand away with a laugh, and you returned it to its place, pinky interlocking with james’. “that’s not what i meant, though. tell me something you’ve never told anyone else.”
james stared at the connection point of your hands, thinking.
“you’re probably my first real friend. well, you and your group at least.”
“what?” it wasn’t what you expected.
“i’m an only child and i grew up kind of isolated from other kids. when i went to school everyone thought i was a freak, so… i’ve just been kind of alone. until you guys were so nice to me.” you looked at each other for a long moment, evidently neither of you expecting that to be james’ secret. “um, now you tell me one.” james smiled awkwardly, clearly eager to move on from his admission.
it was your turn to pause. what was an appropriate secret to spill? it was now or never, you supposed. you closed your eyes.
“i’m scared of you.”
“what?” you could feel james go rigid against the mattress, dread creeping into his voice.
“i’m scared of how you make me feel. that you’re not just hot. that i like talking to you, that i never want to go home when i’m with you. i’m scared that… maybe this thing between us isn’t just for fun, for me.”
the silence suddenly felt deafening instead of comforting. you’d never felt this vulnerable before. you didn’t do crushes and lovesickness and midnight confessions; none of this came naturally to you.
“are you gonna say anything?” you asked quietly, worried you were going to start crying if james remained silent.
“give me a second, honey, i’m checking if i’m dreaming,” james said with a goofy smile, eliciting a girlish giggle from you.
“huh?” your smile grew without your consent.
“did you think all this flirting was just for fun? lovely, i think you’re amazing. of course, it was initially attraction, but you’re funny and exciting and kind. this summer has been the best of my life because of you.” james reached out, warm hand resting on your cheek.
the moment was heavy between you as your eyes flickered between james’ and his lips, and you knew he was doing the same. you couldn’t say who it was who finally pushed forward, but when it finally happened, your entire body lit up, every nerve ending erupting into flames as james shifted to be closer to you.
the kiss was gentle, a testament to james’ previous statement. it wasn’t just about the physical attraction anymore. his hand slid up your face into your hair as his other snaked around your waist, pulling you closer to him on the mattress in a way that sent butterflies shooting around your insides.
when you finally pulled away, you had no control over your wide smile or the gleeful giggle that was so opposite to your usual cool demeanour. james’ eyes were bright with identical joy, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear as you stared at each other. you bit your lip to contain your laughter, moving so you could wrap your arms around james, his warmth comforting against you.
the next morning, shrouded in blankets and cuddled into james’ side, you both decided not to strictly mention that anything had happened between you two. it wasn’t a secret, per se, but neither of you was ready to put a label on anything, and it was just easier to keep everyone believing you were still doing your will-they-won’t-they thing.
the rest of the weekend consisted of stolen kisses and lingering touches, trying not to giggle whenever you locked eyes with james.
in the car on the ride home, both of you asleep intertwined across the back seat, lily and marlene finally dared to talk about it, lily glancing in the rearview mirror to where your head rested on james’ chest.
“do you think they fucked?” she asked, stopping into a petrol station to fill up marlene’s truck.
“oh, they definitely fucked,” marlene laughed, turning to observe you. “and thank god for that.”

So, I'm neutral on Percabeth, but this post kind of has a point.
Do you have any counter arguments for these points? I want to keep an open mind and you seem like you'd have some good arguments.
Anon, thank you for the ask. I typically don’t respond to requests that want me to talk about someone else’s post, but I have some serious points to make here and I mean business. I am not trying to start anything or call OP out; I am just stating my own personal interpretation of this scene, along with other quotes that I will inform you all of, and the possible issues brought up. Nobody go attack OP. They have a right to believe what they believe and to post what they want.
For those who don’t click the link (though I think you should), the original poster is discussing the scene in Chalice of the Gods where Annabeth pushes Percy off the cliff into the water. The post basically says that Annabeth endangered him by not telling him what was going to happen, pushed him into dirty, unsafe water, and is responsible for him getting harmed and bloodied up. Then they say that this is proof that Percabeth is an unhealthy relationship.
So, I have two major thoughts on this post, and one major problem with it.
My first thought: I think it goes back to the same thing that the judo flip does. Was it the best way to do things? No. But was she abusing him? No.
I feel like people keep trying to act as if Percy and Annabeth are regular human beings. They are not. Can we as a fandom PLEASE stop acting like they have similar experiences, expectations, and physical limitations as regular people? As if they don't almost die on a consistent basis? As if danger isn't part of their everyday life?
The words “push him off a cliff” are alarming to us because we imagine a giant mountainside and immediate death. But that was far from the case here. She pushed him off a little hillside ledge into some water. Could a regular human get hurt from that? Sure. But again: they are NOT human. They are half-god. They are hybrids—humanoids, even. They don't get hurt or feel pain like we do. How many freaking times have they been slammed into concrete walls by giants? Pounced on by huge mythical creatures? Slashed, stabbed, and wounded by vicious monsters? Stuff that would immediately kill any one of us? A LOT. And each time, they are fine.
He is not going to get hurt like we would, and since she's the same way, she knows that.
My second thought, which I cannot stress enough:
She pushed him... into WATER. You know, his godly element—the thing that, when he's in it, puts him at his most powerful state; the same thing that heals any injuries he has; the thing over which he has total control and in which he spends most of his time.
By pushing him into the water, Annabeth put him in the safest possible scenario. Are people not reading the scene? The only way Percy was going to complete the quest (and it had to be him who did it) AND beat the river god was by being in the water. It gives him control over the situation.
Now for my major problem: The original post gives false information and takes everything out of context.
If you actually read the book, you’ll see that Annabeth KNEW he would be able to breathe because the water was not dirty where she pushed him in. In fact, right before he goes in, Percy states that the water below was “clear as glass, free of snakes, and just begging to be canonballed into” (pg. 126). Need I say more? (Don’t worry, I’m about to.)
THEN he says, “On the downside, it was ringed by sheer cliffs, with no obvious way down unless I wanted to ride the rapids downriver through Serpent Town.” So he knew he needed to jump in because that was the safest way for him to get there.
THEN Annabeth suggests, “You could jump in with the staff,” and Percy quite literally says, “Sure,” so now Annabeth knows he’s willing to jump down into it. But then Percy follows with, “The problem is climbing back up.”
However, Annabeth, ever so prepared, pulls out a rope. So Percy does have a safe way back up. She’s got him.
Then Percy remembers the river god and suggests that they take some time and make a plan, but then, from afar, they hear Grover start playing music, which means the deadly snakes were now all after Grover. Percy then goes, “The clock has started. Grover is in trouble.” And Annabeth says, “Times up.” That’s when she pushes him over.
He was going to jump in no matter what. That WAS planned. They discussed it. They were going to discuss a plan for what would happen if the river god showed up, but since their best friend was now in danger and both of their priorities were to protect him, they did not have time to make a plan. So Annabeth put the plan in action KNOWING that he would be okay in the water.
The only reason he got hurt—AFTER he landed safely and completely unharmed in the water—was because the river god attacked him, which was going to happen regardless when he tried to mess with the river. And then guess what happens IMMEDIATELY after the river god hurts him? The water—that Annabeth pushed him into, mind you—HEALED him. Just like it always has. Just like Annabeth knew it would if something were to happen.
The original post did not give half the information. It made it seem like Percy had no idea what was going to happen and that they hadn’t discussed it at all. The original post tells everyone that the water was filthy and that Annabeth didn’t know if he could breathe in it. The original post tells everyone that Percy was harmed BECAUSE of the jump. The original post tells everyone that it’s Annabeth’s fault that the river god harmed Percy—none of which are the case at all. The post is just a bunch of false statements coupled with out-of-context screenshots designed to manipulate people into feeling like they have to hate Annabeth Chase. It’s fine to not like Percabeth, but this post manipulates both the book and the viewers. Now, it’s fine to post opinions, but THIS aspect is not okay.
Now, could Annabeth have said, “Hurry! Jump!!”? Yes, she could have. That would have been the more gentle thing to do. But this was clearly a moment where a girlfriend thought it would be funny to push her boyfriend into some water—that he was about to dive into—instead of him jumping. No one here has ever pushed someone into a pool or off a diving board? Huh? I think it shows that their relationship is safe and comfortable enough that they can do things like that without it being a big deal. I feel like in most demigod relationships, this would not be seen as an issue. The only reason it seems to be on a larger scale here is because it's from a significant height, which again I'll remind you: doesn't get hurt easily + gets healed and powered by water = no injury happening. Annabeth also knew that Percy was comfortable jumping down into the water. It seems like a harmless situation to me. She made the decision knowing full well that he would be okay and safe because the water protects him. And all the negative and scary things that happened afterward were because the river god didn't want Percy to mess with the river. But Percy needed to mess with the river. Annabeth pushing him in did not cause that conflict.
Also, people are giving Percy no credit??? Why are we acting like he’s a weak little baby? This is Perseus Jackson, two-time Hero of Olympus, son of the brutal sea god. This guy is tough as nails, and Annabeth knows that and has full confidence in his abilities. People get mad when she is all soft and gentle with him because she’s “babying him,” but then when she treats him like an equal, capable demigod, they get mad because “she’s abusing him.” After she pushes him, Percy literally says that by doing it, Annabeth had “full confidence in [his] abilities” (pg. 128). She trusted that he could handle it because they are demigods and they HAVE to be able to handle things like this. She has seen him go through far, far worse than landing in some clean water and facing a minor god. She believes in him.
And isn't it somewhere around this time that Percy teaches Magnus, Annabeth's cousin, how to survive spontaneous deep plunges into icy cold water? Percy is such an expert on this that he teaches her cousin how to do it. Additionally, Percy and Annabeth quite literally fell into Tartarus—a slightly further drop than this—together, and survived because at the last minute they hit water, which protected Percy. And physically, he was fine then too. Plunging into water from heights is not a new experience for this dude. In fact, he's on the diving team at school—a little different, since that's coordinated, but still—the guy is very used to hitting water from heights. It's quite literally a daily thing for him. The only thing that shocked him here was the temperature of the water. And, mind you, this man has been to the bottom of the ocean. He recovered very quickly. Do people really think Annabeth pushed him in without the complete and utter certainty that he would be completely fine? I cannot stress how casual this is for him.
I would also like to add that Percy was in no way actually upset at her. A tad annoyed? Maybe, if you want to stretch things even more. But then, like, 2 seconds later after the river events, he's saying how cute she is, saying he loves her, kissing her, and they are laughing together. He is fine. They are fine. And if the roles were reversed and Annabeth was a daughter of the sea god and Percy affectionately pushed her off a ledge into some water, it still wouldn't be concerning.
I really do appreciate people like OP here wanting to call out harmful relationships in fiction, and I am never afraid to criticize Rick Riordan. I myself have said that I don't like how Annabeth acted in Wrath of the Triple Goddess (though I hold that against Rick, not Annabeth, since Rick openly admits he's writing them differently now to mirror the TV show versions). But Percy and Annabeth have consistently demonstrated themselves as mature, responsible, and kind human beings who love and support each other and make each other feel very safe and valued. Everyone is welcome to have their opinions and post whatever, but I really do think we should channel these types of discussions towards far more deserving issues, especially those that actually have factual reasoning behind them rather than false claims.

Single Mama! Reader with Cecil or Donald headcanons, pretty please. I’ll give you my prized Pokémon book for it.
Donald and Cecil x SingleMom!Reader
oh my god i read this as sigma while scrolling through requests and had an aneurysm I'm so fucking brain rotted
anyways- Cecil and Donal are separate hcs, sorry if these are sort of short!
hcs under the cut!
Cecil
Cecil is ambivalent and distant
he's not against you having a kid, but he doesn't know what to do with it
"Want a beer?" "HES FOUR" type shit
For the most part he treats your kid as cordially as possible.
If they're an elementary schooler, he might try and bribe them into liking him with toys
If they're more like a middle or high schooler, however, he treats them with respect
Cecil over her shaking some fourteen year olds hand like "I promise my intentions with your mother are good, I'm a good man and she's a great woman."
like oh my god just stooooop
but they lowkey kind of love it? Like, he's so aloof and weird, your kid(s) adore him
It's a very parallel-play type of thing
Cecil and you will be watching a movie and your kid will come downstairs and sit on the other side of the couch, casually reading a book or playing their 3ds or something
If your kid is interested in government or safety, Cecil will happily take them under his wing
You come back from the bathroom to find Cecil explaining calculus to your high schooler
or explaining the concept of government to your eight year old, who is happily absorbing it all like a sponge
He keeps it age appropriate
Cecil has a LOT of resources
So when he wants to take you out, you've got your pick of the best babysitters in the world
It's usually Donald ngl
sometimes, though, a teenage superhero will volunteer to babysit for some extra cash
So Eve-- or, more accurately-- Rex and Rae-- come over to babysit.
(ignore season three for these purposes- stfu it's cute)
And Cecil takes you out on the town
being a single mom means you have a hard time getting to be just Y/n, not Y/n the mom
Cecil makes sure you know how special you are
Corny ass man probably takes you swing dancing or something
Red Lobster type mf
I'm kidding he takes you to a very nice dinner
and buys an extra dessert for your kid <3
Donald
BIG nerd
Your kid like pokemon? Oh he's studying up rn to impress them
Because of this Donald's at work reading Warrior Cats and Cecil is like "Donald what the fuck is that?"
"Oh- My girlfriend's kid is really into this serious, I want to make a good impression."
"A grown man having warrior cats knowledge is terrifying, Donald."
psshhh whatever Donald doesn't care.
Tries to win over your kid by showing off his robotic features (once he gets used to it himself)
WILL take your kid to the park with you as a date
I hc Donald probably doesn't have too much in the way of his own family, so he's charmed by yours
Donald likes to take your kid(s) with you on dates
Group family dates if you will
So you all go to the movies, or maybe to dinner every now and again, stuff like that
But he makes time for just you don't you worry.
Type of dude to throw your kids in the air.
he's just casually available and emotionally supportive
ALSO teaches your children stuff, but more like history or lower level math
I have the very specific image in my head of your 3rd/4th grader coming home crying because her school is doing a daddy daughter dance and like.... she doesn't have a dad? What is she going to do?
You offer her to bring her uncle, or maybe she could bring you?
Donald comes back from the store with groceries for dinner and your daughter lights up
"I want Donald to take me!"
"Hm?" he puts the bags down to high five your daughter hello "Take you to what, kid?"
You sighed, leaning awkwardly against the kitchen counter "She's having a daddy daughter dance at school- Honey, why don't you take your uncle?"
Donalds eyes widen and he has to hold back a wobbly smile "No it's okay! I'll take her." Oh fuck it, dude is smiling
Ugh i'm a wreck he's so sweet
He's not trying to replace their dad or anything
like literally "not the step dad he's the dad who stepped up"

Hiya ! I love your posts, they are all amazing 🫠
I'm not sure if you're really into poly relationships, but i've got this on my mind for a while now.
Reader is dating two monsters, the monsters know each other since kids and get along very well, they are predators, they like to play with their mate as if she is a prey.
Someone tells her they'll eventually hurt her for real and now they're upset, to make her feel safe again, they decide to show off to the whole village how they take care of their mate (if you know what i mean 🫦).

Find the rest of the Kabr0z Writes anthology here!
CWs: Lashings of oral sex; public sex; exhibitionism; interspecies; knotting; enthusiastic consent; restraints;
A/N: This one sounds like fun, and it's not gonna kill me to write this one and the other I have planned to make up for missing Wednesday.
Plus I get to put out a little more exposition on why there are werewolves in a low-magic world. If there's one thing you've probably worked out about me, I love me some ✨Exposition✨
As always, requests go to the ask box or DMs so they're in the queue when I check it. I won't not do stuff asked for in comments or reblogs, but they won't be in the queue so they're very likely to fall through the cracks
##########################################
The year is 1670. Almost twenty years since everything changed. You were only a small girl then, when the sun darkened and the menfolk of your village changed. You remember them falling to the ground as bones cracked and rearranged, blood streaming from broken faces as snouts and muzzles replaced human mouths and noses, tails bursting from the smalls of their backs, and the fur spreading in patches to cover their skin. Then, the sky lightened again. Those who had changed picked themselves up, strong limbed and sharp toothed, but still themselves despite the monstrous form they had taken.
Other villages suffered the same, boys and men who saw the shadow over the sun turning into monsters. A royal decree came a week later. The changed men were to leave the towns, banished to the forests and woodlands where they would bother the women and the unchanged no longer. So it came to pass that the lupines were driven out. Most were never heard of again, but you still heard stories of children being born in villages with tails and fur, the get of the banished wolfmen.
You were approaching your twenty-fifth year. Despite them being banished you never lost touch with your close friends from youth, a pair of boys named Leo and Michael, if anything, you'd grown even closer to them over the years. You could well understand the tales of wolf-children being born.
Your rendezvous with them had not gone unnoticed either. The men of the village gave you a wide berth, not wanting to get too close to you for fear of your wolfen lovers. The women who would still speak with you warned you to no end that the lupines you cavorted with under the stars and the treetops would be the end of you. Of course, over the years, fewer and fewer women spoke to you. They were all getting married, their husbands forbidding them to consort with the strange woman of the village, warning their children away from you. Little by little, life in civilisation became quieter and quieter, lonelier and lonelier.
You head leant on Leo's belly, complaining about the villagers, gently stroking Michael's back as he topped off the cuddle pile. Michael's tail began to wag as you saw a mischievous grin spread over his features
"What are you thinking" you were starting to match his grin. Michael had the best plans
"Well, if you're miserable there, why not join us lupines? They see you as one of us, why not leave?"
You hummed, it's not like you hadn't thought about it "I don't want them using it as an excuse to come after you..."
Leo snorted "They wouldn't have waited if they weren't so scared of us, though I like the idea of giving them a show of things... They want to banish you? Let's give them a reason"
Michael's grin widened "I have an idea... Mind if Leo and I talk a few minutes alone? I wanna make this a surprise"
That's how you knew this was gonna be good. "Sure, I'll be by the river, need a piss anyway"
You took your time. You couldn't hear them over the flowing water, but you could see them discussing intently from your spot. Every time one of them spoke, the other would get more excited until they were both looking at you. You stood up, letting your skirts cover your ankles again as you walked back to them "Made a decision?"
"Yeah, just about... Oh, one quick thing"
Leo tapped Michael's hand and held up two fists "left or right?"
Michael chose left, the fist was empty, the other revealing a crumpled leaf
Leo smiled "I win"
Michael laughed "Right, now we're ready. Do you trust us?"
"Always" you nodded. You'd known these two since you were children, you helped them get used to walking again on their back-turned legs, you brushed their fur and spent every spare moment with them. You'd trust these two men with your life.
Good thing too. The moment the word left your mouth, Leo tackled you and both of them took off in a sprint. Towards the village.
A lupine can outpace a stallion if they have a mind to, and over a longer distance. Many of the changed men had left the country and were living as condottiere in Italy and France if the tales were true. You could feel why, the wind rushed through your hair as the two wolves charged down the path to the village centre, alarmed cries coming from behind you as the furry blurs sped past terrified peasants.
They stopped at the pillory, placing your head and hands in the wooden frame and shutting it, keeping the latch closed with a stick jammed where the shank of a padlock would fit. You knelt there a moment, head waist-high off the ground, knees on the paved stone below you, a crowd gathering and murmuring as the wolves howled around you, stomping and snarling at the villagers. You tried not to laugh. They're trying to make a scene.
The crowd must have grown to their liking.
"You there! Priest!" Leo pointed at the local clergyman "Come here!"
The crowd pushed the hapless man forward, clutching his bible ahead of him like a shield "W-what are you going to do with me?"
Michael laughed at him, trying to make it sound scary, but only making it harder to keep the grin from your face "You're going to marry us"
The priest stammered a protest, but a showing of sharp teeth from both wolves silenced him. He cleared his throat "We are gathered here today to witness the union of this woman with this" a snarl "These, sorry, these... men? Er, that is to say if any know of any reason why these... people should not be wed, please speak or forever hold your peace" The priest held his eyes shut. Silence fell for a moment, a voice yelled from the back of the crowd "Get on with it!"
"Ahem. Yes. Er" the monk stammered again "Do you take these wolves to be your lawfully wedded, er, husbands?"
You nodded your head "I do" you croaked out, mouth still dry from the run
"And do you-"
"We do" both of your wolf lovers said in unison
The priest drew a cross in the air in front of the three of you "in which case I pronounce you man and wife" The last words were said so quickly it took a moment to process. Then the wolves were upon you.
Michael stood in front of you as Leo stepped behind, tearing the skirt off your rear end, showing you off to the villagers behind you. His tongue went at you, licking your cunt vigorously, making your jaw drop at the ferocity of his touch as he held you open and ate you out. Michael craned his head to watch as he gripped his sheath, the cock inside starting to poke out. The pillory kept your mouth at crotch-height as he slapped his cock on your cheeks, teasing you with the feeling of it as he painted you with his scent. You tried to catch it again and again as the crowd jeered, every time it rubbed against your face, giving you another sniff of his shaft. Until, of course, it didn't.
The crowd cheered as his cock slipped into your mouth, and you started to suck it. Michael grabbed the pillory and started to fuck your face while Leo brought a hand to your clit, sending an orgasm rocking through you as the pad of his finger circled your sensitive nub.
Leo stood up behind you and leant over, his hard cock between your thighs "I'm gonna take your maidenhood, alright?"
You nodded, the cock in your mouth stopping you speaking, the roar of the crowd would drown out any muffled grunts of approval. Thankfully, Leo saw the slight move of your head as you looked into his eye.
The cock pulled out from between your thighs, then plunged into your pussy. Your eyes widened as he pushed in, gently at first but gaining speed with confidence. Your legs bent as your toes curled, the canine cocks ramming into both sides of you building up to another orgasm as the braying, yelling crowd surged your adrenaline.
You felt your pussy squeezing on Leo as Michael hilted himself in your mouth, spraying hot cum down your throat. There was just so much, you felt it dripping from your nose and leaking out of the seal of your lips.
Michael's grunts set Leo off. His knot started to swell in you as he howled, the first load of cum your womb had ever taken, filling you to the brim and over the top. You tried to lock your legs around him, but needn't have bothered, the knot stuck the two of you together.
The crowd started to disperse now, the show was over, all that was left was the gentle licking of your new husbands as their excitement wound down. You each knew the villagers wouldn't do anything about this, there wasn't a watch to speak of and by the time a magistrate blew through you'd be long gone.
It took almost an hour before Leo's knot deflated enough to pull out of you. You opened the pillory with a single push from your back, the flimsy stick giving way immediately. It was only there for show, after all. Together you walked back to the forest where you met with the rest of the lupines. After all, you're family now.
When you finally came with child, you weren't sure which of your men had actually fathered the pups, but you didn't care, they were sure to be great fathers. Plus, you'd even started seeing familiar faces from the village again, moving in with new, furrier husbands.
All's well that ends well, you suppose

Don't be alarmed that this episode is being published in the evening, rather than 1am, I'm not getting all responsible on you, rather just making sure I'll have steam in the tank for tonight when the next regularly-scheduled episode is going to be written!
One of these days, I'll write a couple ahead of time to build a backlog. Until then, this shit's happening live!

Some Calm in the Midst of War | Wartime!Tommy Shelby x Reader
Tumblr media
request: yes by @cybubuvubbu
pairing: Wartime!Tommy Shelby x Reader
summary: (Y/N) meets a soldier in a club. Not wanting to let go of this taste of calm amidst all of the chaos, they extend their moment of revelry into something a bit longer.
warnings: language, smoking, talks of war, suggestive situations (pg-13 in nature…I think)
word count: 1721
a/n: so this is what I decided to do in order to get these requests that have been sitting for months out to read. I really focused on just letting all of the inhibitions about it go and writing. Whatever gets put down gets put down, and however it gets put down flies also. I’m sorry if this isn’t what you were hoping for/looking forward to from me, but please know that I’m doing this in hopes that it’ll help me figure out what I want to do next. Ok, I’m sorry for making this so long…enjoy! :)
a/n 2: I just can’t bring myself to write completely nsfw stuff but I wanted to take this request in this direction, so I hope anyone won’t be annoyed at the fact that it’s not explicit smut. This’ll probably be the closest my writing will ever get to it.
I’D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! YOUR COMMENTS & REBLOGS HELP ME WRITE!
comment/message me if you want to be tagged!

The unlikely pair met in a club. She was - once - a woman of higher class, and he was a man whose family lived on next to nothing. But now because the war had ripped through both of their lives, they were finding solace in each other.
He couldn't take his eyes off of her all night. She was there with some of the ladies who she worked alongside as a field nurse. He'd come into town with his company, whom he was in command of.
Both looking for some semblance of what their lives used to be; looking for a way to escape the hell they’d been stuck in.
She was the one who approached him. "Saw you staring from across the bar," she started, her confidence earning some whistles from the men who were accompanying the man she was speaking to. One was even quick to leave his stool, offering the space to her. The man was surprised how quickly his men left them alone. "Thought it'd be a crime not to come and talk with you," she brought his attention back to her, her lips curved up into a smile.
He didn't know what to say at first. Prior to this, he wasn't sure if he was even going to take things further than a couple glances in her direction. But now he couldn't take his eyes off of her, and shit... he still didn't know what to say! A laugh filled with disbelief left his lips as he finally tore his eyes from hers.
He took a drag from his cigarette before looking her way again. One thing he wasn't going to do in this situation was fuck this opportunity up.
The two didn't talk much. Sure a brief conversation occurred, but it wasn't long before she was pulling them to the dance floor so they could join in with all of the other carefree couples.
The fact that he wanted to stay after the first song was over shocked her. It was evident though that she was the only reason he wanted to stay.
They exchanged a kiss before even exchanging names.
It wasn't surprising to see how quickly they became engrossed in one another. All they'd known for the last stretch of time was war and the feelings, not to mention sights, of terror that came with it. Neither knew when they'd get another moment like this...so they most certainly weren't going to waste it.
Their connection grew over the next several dances they shared. Soon enough the tender at the bar was yelling last call and they were ordering one last drink together.
Both weren't able to find the groups that they'd arrived with, so they decided to bask in each other's company for as long as they were able.
They finally got to talking, sitting at the bar until the keeper was telling them they needed to leave.
It was during these conversations that they found out just how different of lives they had led prior to this point. Funny how war had the ability to blur the class lines. Neither cared at the moment that the other wouldn’t have even spared a glance prior to now. They simply cared about feeling human again.
Tumblr media
She brought him back to the room she'd been given for her brief time of leave from the field hospital. Tensions had risen between them as they walked closely together down the street. There was purpose in their step and things reached a fever point the second they stepped across the threshold into the small room.
The slightest look was shared before their lips met. No words needed to be spoken. What they both wanted was written clear across their faces.
Their walk to the bed looked more like a dance as they blindly fumbled with each others’ clothes. By the time her back hit the mattress, she was left in a blouse and underwear and he his trousers.
Another look was shared as a pause was taken. They were both breathing heavily, but this time he asked: “are you sure?”
She blinked a few times, as if it was her own way of checking that he was indeed real and that this was really happening. She couldn’t remember the last time she was in a position like this. The longer the pause was held, the more it became evident that she would be insane not to let the opportunity pass. “So sure,” she breathed in response, a smile playing on her lips.
His mesmerizing blue eyes turned a shade darker as he heard her response. A grin spread across his lips, and he brought his hand up to take hold of her cheek before she matched her lips to his again.
Their kisses were slower this time around. Both wanted to savor this moment, as they knew it may be the last like it they’d ever get. Inhibitions were thrown out alongside the rest of their garments and nothing more was said as they found a connection with each other.
Sweat stuck to their bodies and he made sure to hold her close, both reeling from the feeling the other was giving them.
They couldn’t remember the last time they felt this good. It was a feeling they never wanted to end.
Tumblr media
Leaving was something neither of the two even thought about when they were finished. Their limbs stayed winded together, and they continued to exchange languid kisses as they came down from their highs.
“Shelby,” she breathed, her eyes focusing on the disc that was hanging around his neck. The disc that would be used to identify him if something were to happen in the field of battle.
Its presence made reality return to her mind. A reminder of the war they were still very much engrossed in flooded her thoughts, shrouding the state of bliss that she was previously experiencing.
“Tommy,” his voice brought her out of her thoughts.
“Huh?” she asked, focusing on him again with furrowed brows.
“My name’s Tommy,” he clarified.
“It’s nice to meet you, Tommy,” she said, then giggling as the context of the situation came to mind…usually these sort of introductions were done before she joined a man in bed.
Tommy cracked a grin at her statement, a chuckle leaving his lips before he leaned down to kiss hers, stifling her laughter in the process. “What’s your name?” he asked as they broke apart.
“(Y/N),” she answered, her smile still present.
“It’s nice to meet you, (Y/N),” he used the same greeting as she had, and they both began laughing again.
Their laughter subsided as their eyes met, and the tension they’d been feeling from the moment he spotted her at the club arose again. Nothing more was said as their lips molded together for the umpteenth time that evening.
Tommy was the one to break away, but he didn’t move far. He kissed a line from her lips down to her jaw and settled against the crook of her neck. (Y/N) sighed wantonly at the feeling, her hands tangling in the longer parts of his hair as her heart rate increased.
“Tommy…” his name was uttered in a breathy moan, “Tommy, I don’t…” she couldn’t quite keep her thoughts straight as his lips trailed lower, finding a new home in the valley between her breasts. It was becoming harder to think with each passing second, but she felt she needed to get these thoughts out. “I don’t usually do this—I’m not usually like this.”
He stopped his ministrations and lifted his head to look at her again. She sighed at the loss of feeling. “What do you mean?” he asked, his brows furrowing together in confusion when it took her a few moments to respond.
“I’m not usually this…” she paused, struggling to think of the right word, “…easy,” was what she finally settled on, although it still felt as if there were better words to use.
Tommy’s brows straightened only slightly. “I never thought you were,” he told her honestly.
“Things have been so different with the war and all,” she continued to explain herself even though he didn’t ask her to, “it’s been so long—too long, since I’ve been in a situation like this so forgive me for being unsure of what now needs to be done, but I just…my fear is that I won’t have a chance to experience this again…” she paused, feeling her chest tighten, “things are so uncertain now…”
“Hey…” he cut her off she could continue. She bit on her bottom lip to stop it from quivering, unable to match his gaze for fear of it making her tears fall. “Look at me, love,” he gently coaxed her, his hand cupping her cheek so that he could make their eyes meet. A solemn expression was present on his features as he reached up to brush away a tear with his thumb.
“I’m sorry,” (Y/N) apologized, now feeling pathetic for turning their passionate moment into this.
“Don’t be,” Tommy shook his head, his thumb running gently against her cheekbone. He searched her eyes for a moment before continuing, “no harm will ever come to you,” he told her, “not from me, not from anyone else…not while I’m here,” his words were spoken with the utmost truth, and his eyes never wavered from hers.
(Y/N) wasn’t sure what to say. She’d never had someone profess something like this to her…especially not someone who was a stranger a few hours ago. But in this moment it felt so right, and hearing those words alone gave her some hope that maybe they’d both be okay.
She smiled at him, reaching up to slowly run her hand against his jawline. “You’ll be here?” she asked him, her eyebrows raising slightly.
“Until I can’t be,” he assured her, a smile playing on his lips.
His response made (Y/N)’s smile widen, and nothing more was said as she gently took hold of his chin and brought his lips to hers once more.
Staying true to his word, Tommy stayed with (Y/N) until they both had to ship out to their posts again. Both were equally grateful to enjoy some calm in the midst of war.

Long, long time
CHAPTER THREE: Just before everything changes
SUMMARY: Elementary school is over, forever, and the girls are both excited and terrified at what the future looks like. They’re both coming to terms with growing up and what they have to give up in order to move forward.
NOTE: I wrote this one in a much more timely manner than the last one. I also think this one is infinitely better than the other two, and it's almost double the length, kind of. This one is definitely dialogue heavy, specifically in the last bit, so if you don't like that then sorry. I think the next one will be more internal monologue stuff as opposed to real life events. Also I think I might have messed up the dates a bit because I'm not from America so I don't fully understand the school system and how old everyone is, so I'll probably go back later and amend any issues. But I'm really not sure how I managed to mess it up because I made a timeline and everything, but whatever, what can you do? Once again thanks for the support :)

Warnings: Mentions of parent leaving, angst, periods (?) 5.3k words Pairing: Paige Bueckers x Azzi Fudd
---------------------------------------------------
27th of MAY, 2013
OAKRIDGE VIRGINIA
Elementary school, it had come to an end almost as quickly as it had begun. The years had passed mostly without incident, Paige and Azzi growing impossibly closer with each day that passed.
So, to celebrate the end of the school year, the Fudds and the Bueckers had decided to spend the night in their local diner.
It was a small little place, tucked away next to the more industrial area of town. Bob always brought his own homemade food to work, but the young men that he employed were frequent customers of the little spot, being fans of the cheap, filling meals, or the pretty, young waitresses, or both in some cases.
Tying with Applebees, the diner was pretty much the nicest place to eat in town. So, everytime anything happened that was worth celebrating, the Bueckers-Fudd clan would find themselves shoved into their favourite circular booth in the back corner. Though they would never admit it, the booth was much too small for the seven occupants, four of which were growing at an alarmingly fast rate. But nonetheless, they squashed themselves in, bodies pressed tightly together, yet not tight enough to be uncomfortable.
Tim called over their favourite waitress, Cathy, a no-nonsense southern lady,  who miraculously appeared to be both twenty and sixty at the same time. Her painted red lips twisted into a smile at the sight of her favourite customers, “Well hello, what can I get y’all?” Every time it was the same thing, her southern drawl filled with nothing but warmth.
The second the words left her mouth a chorus of young voices sounded out across the table, all fighting for their voice to be the loudest.
“Ummm can I get the pancakes!”
“I’ll have the nuggets, and a strawberry soda please.”
“Ooh! Ooh! I’ll have the fried eggs and bacon!”
“Cherry pie for me please, lots of ice cream on the side too.”
Perhaps an amateur waitress would’ve been overwhelmed by the barrage of requests, but this certainly was not Cathy’s first rodeo, and she wrote them all down with ease. The taking of their order was more of a formality than anything, the two families had slid into that booth more times than any of them could count, and ordered the exact same thing every time. The day Tim Fudd ordered anything other than the beef burger with a side of pickles would be the same day that pigs flew.
“Alrighty folks, that’ll be out in a few!” She said with a smile as she walked off to put the order through.
It only took seconds after she left before the complaining had already started, “I’m hungryyyyy!” Jose groaned.
“That’s why we just ordered, you stupid poop face.” Jon had retorted, punctuating his statement with a knock to Jose’s head.
“Watch it boys.” Tim had warned, purposefully ignoring the smug smile Jose gave to his brother next to him as he elbowed him in the ribs.
The conversation flowed easily, the adults fell into easy conversation, Paige and Azzi talking about whatever was piquing their interest at the moment, and the two brothers roughhousing just subtly enough that they wouldn’t get in trouble for it.
When the food came out the table fell into a comfortable silence as the kids in particular scoffed their meals down like they had been starved of all food for the past five centuries. Once their appetites had been satiated, and they had entered a mild food coma, Katie spoke to the girls, “So, our big elementary school graduates, do you guys know what you want to do after high school?”
“Yeah, same as always, I’m gonna work with dad.” Paige responded, it was a given at that point, the dream she had had since childhood was not changing anytime soon.
Azzi, however, was a different story, she had always been indecisive, bouncing from one career aspiration to the next, consistently changing her favourite song. There were a lot of things she was unsure on, but there were also some things she was dead set on. She knew her favourite colour was pink, and that a close second was rainbow (Which was a real colour if you asked her). She knew Olaf was the best character of all time, and that unicorns were the best animal, even if there was no ‘proof’ that they were real. But most importantly, she knew her best friend was Paige Bueckers - a fact that Paige took great pride in, considering Azzi’s indecisive nature.
That very trait was what made her statement so outlandish, “You guys know what I wanna do, it’s been the same for like forever.” She had said it with such confidence, that for a moment the table went silent, guilt washing over them at not remembering her apparent, long time aspiration.
That was until Jon burst out with laughter, the rest of the table following suit as the absurdity of the young girl’s comment settled over the table.
“What?” Azzi pouted, eyes darting from person to person as they laughed hysterically at her. Even Bob, who was never one to poke fun at someone, was chuckling lightly.
“You change your mind, like, every week hon.” Katie explained, still slightly breathless from her laughing fit.
“No I don’t!” She tried to defend herself, crossing her arms over her chest and tilting her chin up indignantly.
“You do.” Jon stated matter-of-factly.
The young girl was growing frantic, confused as to why no one was refuting the absolutely insane claim. But surely her best friend of many years would defend her, right?, “Paige? back me up!” She begged, eyes boring into Paige, trying to gain her attention.
Paige avoided her pleading gaze, trying to keep a neutral expression, but no one missed the little smirk that appeared on her face, “Sorry Az, they’re right.”
Feeling as if she had been stripped of her dignity, she continued with a huff, “Well I want to be a teacher, like I said on Heroes day.”
“Like Miss Honey.” Jose chuckled.
“Yes. Like Miss Honey.” She hissed back.
“Literally the week after that you went on and on about how you wished you would’ve been an astronaut instead.” Tim reminded her, putting a sour expression on her face as she realised she had been proved to be quite the undecided personality.
“Whatever!” Azzi snipped. Her annoyed facade only lasted a few moments before her conversation with Paige started up again.
Once again they settled into their usual chatter, laughter bouncing off the walls of the slowly-emptying diner. Sat there in the squishy booth, a feeling of familiar contentment washed over the group, a warm glow erupting in each person’s chest. From the outside eye they may not have looked like a traditional family, but they knew in their hearts that they were the truest family out there, and that was what really mattered.
It was time for close, Cathy always let them stay right up till the end of the night. She’d start the closing clean and that was their sign that it was time to wrap it up. As she wiped down the tables and mopped the floors with a practiced ease, the group cleared their table and brought their plates and scraps up to the kitchen window where they passed it off to the dishboy with a cheery “Have a good night!”.
When it came to the bill, there was always bickering between Bob and the Fudds. They had been so many times it was impossible to keep track of who paid last, yet no matter who won the squabble and got to put their card down, Cathy was sure to get a generous tip.
They spilled out onto the street, both dads slightly fumbled as they searched for their car keys under the dim light of the street lamps that lined the neighborhood.
As they sat on the curb outside the diner Paige and Azzi made a promise.
“This is gonna be our best summer yet.” Paige assured Azzi.
“Promise?” The curly-haired girl questioned, bringing her pinky finger out to the space between them.
Intertwining her pinky with Azzi’s, the blonde spoke again, “Promise.”
—------------------------
SUMMER, 2013
OAKRIDGE VIRGINIA
True to their promises, the summer before sixth grade had been the best of Paige and Azzi’s life.
Their parents had let them ride around on their bikes from sun up to just after sun down, and the girls were sure to make every minute of glorious, sweaty summer freedom count. They spent days upon days riding around aimlessly, going from street to street, ignoring the burning in their legs and the summer heat on their faces.
It was a kind of freedom they’d never felt before. A glorious, glowing kind that Azzi was sure to dangle in front of her brothers mockingly. But it was also the kind that felt like giving up their childhood at the same time. They had more responsibilities, both girls had their own set of house keys, a trust bestowed onto them by their parents that sent shivers down their spine at the thought of the sheer importance the keys held.
Change felt imminent. A deep-rooted anxiety that everything would be changing soon settled into the back of each girl’s mind. Perhaps they knew the other felt the same fears, perhaps they didn’t know. There truly was no way of knowing if the worries plaguing the two were shared, as both refused to speak them aloud, not wanting to waste breath on their concerns, in case doing so actually did bring them to life.
Yet at that same time, it was summer, and if there really was some ‘big-bad’ lurking around the corner, then the least they could do is enjoy the good times while they lasted, right?
One particularly boiling day, the pair rode to the lake on the outskirts of town and spent all day skipping rocks and swimming in the blue water to escape the temperature. Time was a thing of the past on that day, any thoughts of returning home before dark absent from the girl’s minds, fully focussing on savouring every minute of fun together. Only when the sun began to set, bright blue skies giving way to softer, orange-pink hues, did they realise they were a thirty minute bike ride away from home, and minutes away from being past curfew.
Scrambling onto their bikes like madwomen, they cycled faster than anyone had ever cycled before, turning the thirty minute bike ride into a twenty minute one. That feat, however, did not matter to either girl’s parents as they returned to their respective houses after their curfews.
For the longest week of their life, they had both been banned from riding their bikes, stuck in their houses, or in the very few places they could be bothered to walk to. Despite the punishment they were still able to do whatever they wanted, opting to watch disney movies all day under ceiling fans with ice blocks galore waiting for them in the freezer.
Days rolled into nights which rolled into an endless slew of days and nights, practically each minute spent together, living inside each other’s skin. It was a dream. Getting to spend every waking second of the day just a walk across the street away.
It hadn’t all been fun though, Bob had insisted on going ‘home’ to visit their family in Minnesota. Paige thought it was silly, a sentiment she shared with Azzi, who mainly just wished that her best friend could stay with her the whole summer.
“It’s just stupid really. I mean I don’t even know them! The most I talk to them is when we call on Christmas and on birthdays!” The older girl had complained as she had stomped around her bedroom, chucking as many clothes as she thought were suitable for a five day trip to Minnesota.
“Yeah, I agree, your dad should just let you stay with me… Or let me come with you!” Azzi had replied from her spot splayed out on Paige’s single bed.
“That’s such a good idea, I’ll ask dad about both!” Paige had grinned back, sure that their plans would be approved by her dad.
Unfortunately for the girls, Bob had said no to both options with a disbelieving laugh that Paige had taken great offense to. So, for the first time ever the two were away from one another for more than three days, it was the longest they had ever been apart. Azzi complained to her family day after day in her best friend’s absence, and Paige spent the whole car ride to Minnesota groaning in pain, stating that she was “fading away” the further she got from Azzi.
Miraculously, both girls somehow managed to survive the five torturous days spent states apart, but due to the holes in their hearts that had formed in each other’s absences, they simply had to have a five day long sleepover to make up for the lost time, alternating houses each night.
—------------------------
3rd of SEPTEMBER, 2013
OAKRIDGE VIRGINIA
It was the night before, the night before the first day of middle school. The girls had begged their parents to let them have a sleepover the actual night before, but they had been quick to shut the idea down, knowing that either the pre-school nerves, or each other, or both would keep them up into the early morning hours, leading to two sleep-deprived pre-teens.
So. begrudgingly, they had settled on the night before, the night before.
Paige had spent all day school shopping with her dad, and was feeling like her head might fall off if she had to spend another minute in the uncomfortably bright changing rooms of a JC Penny or Old Navy shoving herself into a sweater near-identical to the past twenty she’d tried on.
Yet somehow, the worst part of all was the stationary shopping. Being a single dad meant Bob had obviously taken on the role of both parents. So, that meant that school supply shopping was all on him, and he had taken it upon himself to make sure that Paige had the exact brand and make of each item listed on the school list. A lesson he had learnt when he had sent her to the first grade with an arsenal of black and blue pens, and not a single coloured pencil in sight, having neglected to look at the school issued list. It had ended in a phone call home and a red-faced Bob scrambling to find lead pencil in the ruins of the post-back-to-school-sale Walmart.
Although Paige appreciated her dad’s commitment to the quality and uniformity of her educational utensils, it did turn him into quite the Karen. Every single time he couldn’t find the exact item they were looking for he would call over a (likely underpaid) teenage worker, who really couldn’t care less, and near-force them to scour every inch of the store in search of the desired item. They’d always been able to find whatever it was, and Paige lived in fear for what would happen the day an item was out of stock, but that was a problem for future Paige.
For some reason, God decided Paige hadn’t suffered enough in one day, and sent every school parent and every colleague and every person Bob or Paige had ever met was at the mall on that very day. It felt impossible to move more than twenty feet without running into a chatty, well-intentioned acquaintance, who just happened to feel like spending, at minimum, five minutes saying things like, “Wow! How tall are you now Paige! I remember when you could fit in my arms” or another classic “Middle school, really? You’ll be picking a college before you know it!”. They were nothing but nice to her, so she was nothing but nice in return, which really just made the whole situation worse because it made them think she really did want to talk to them about their cousin’s neighbour’s son who’s “Just around your age!”
Despite the trials and tribulations of her day, the light at the end of the tunnel remained, Azzi (also her dad let her get a hot pretzel before they left which was really nice).
On the other hand, Azzi was lucky enough to have gone school shopping in the five gruelling days that Paige was away. Stocking up on pens and books and shirts and socks was a pain to do for one kid, but to do it for three? Safe to say, Bob was sure to always commend Tim and Katie on their valiant efforts of rounding up the kids for school shopping.
So instead of being soft-tortured in the mall, she had been run ragged by her brothers. They had so cruelly forced her to run around under the blaring summer sun through the sprinklers for hours and hours. They had played a variety of games, everything from flag football to soccer to basketball. Even games you’d think you couldn’t play with only three people they were able to do.
She was nearing the age where she would start to feign annoyance at her brother’s constant attempts to gain her attention, but she wasn’t quite there yet. Though her parents knew her well, and predicted that even when she went through her phase of faux-annoyance she would likely fail to avoid spending time with her family, after all she was definitely a homebody at heart.
Azzi’s only refuge from the summer heat had come in the form of lunchtime, when she was able to go inside and chow down on hot dogs and homemade lemonade. She reapplied her sunscreen diligently, trying her hardest not to miss a spot, wanting to avoid the sting that came along with a sunburn.
Unfortunately, despite her best efforts, by the end of the day her skin was pinking, feeling just raw enough to make her clothes feel like fire on her skin.
All of Azzi’s sunburnt discomfort, and Paige’s shopping-induced weariness faded when Paige and Bob knocked on the Fudd family door.
The two girls ran into each other’s arms as if they had been reunited after years, not after the actual, mere twenty-four hours they had spent away from one another.
After a bit of adult chatter, Bob took his exit, wrapping Paige in a bear hug before he headed home for the night.
Following a classic Fudd Saturday night meal of spag-bowl and garlic bread, the girls had changed into their pajamas and were readying themselves for bed.
Paige had gone to the bathroom, double checking her bladder really was empty, that way she wouldn’t be woken up needing to pee, definitely not because she was scared to make the walk across the hall to the bathroom in the darkness.
Azzi was sitting at her desk, fixing up her hair when she heard her name being called softly yet urgently from the bathroom.
“Az! Azzi! Azzi!” Paige’s frantic whispers were growing more and more desperate. The older girl diverting from her relatively chill demeanour sent alarm bells to Azzi’s mind.
She nearly sprinted to the bathroom door where Paige’s head was sticking out.
“What’s wrong Paige? Tell me? What happened?” From all that Azzi could see of Paige, the only thing concerning was the troubled look on her face.
“Can you get your mom Az, please?” Paige pleaded, her voice wobbled almost inconceivably, but Azzi caught it.
“C’mon Paige, I can’t see anything wrong. It can’t be that bad, seriously, just show me.”, bringing her hand up to the door to push through.
“NO!” Paige yelled, swatting Azzi’s hand away. She seemed to shock herself more than Azzi with her sudden outburst.
She took a deep breath and started over, “Sorry Az.” She paused again, as if trying to hype herself up before continuing, “I think I got… I think… I think I got my y’know…”
Azzi thinks, her brows furrowing as she tried to think of what Paige was talking about.
“You got your what?” She questioned, after a moment of contemplation.
“My period.” The words that had left Paige’s mouth stunned Azzi, she had suddenly lost her ability to speak, which only distressed Paige further.
“Earth to Azzi?” Paige said, waving her hands in front of Azzi’s face.
Snapped back to reality, but still in a bit of a daze, she responded, “Yeah?”
“So can you get your mom now please?” Paige half-begged, the conversation having been drawn out far longer than she had anticipated.
“Yeah, yeah, sure, one second.” Azzi mumbled as she walked off to her parent’s room.
A moment passed before she came back with her mom, the bathroom door now shut, Paige having bunkered herself down inside.
Katie motioned for Azzi to go, who protested, really thinking she could be of help, but her mom shut that down, staring her down till she stomped back to her room.
Knocking softly on the door, she whispered, “Paige honey, it’s Katie, can you let me in please hon?”
A minute of silence passed, punctuated by the light sound of sniffling and shuffling before the door creaked open, a red-rimmed-eyed Paige standing before Katie.
“Oh honey.” Katie soothed before wrapping Paige into a tight, bear hug.
Azzi listened from behind her door, and despite how her heart ached hearing her best friend in distress, it also made her heart beam to know that she was like family not only to herself, but to her mom, and her dad, and her brothers.
Katie was a great woman, and Paige knew she saw her as an almost second daughter. Yet, as she sat on the toilet lid, watching in half-confusion, half-horror as the older woman explained periods and uteruses and pads to her, she couldn’t help the overwhelming wave of sadness that washed over her.
Paige didn’t have much experience with having a mom, but she knew that getting your period was obviously something that you were meant to tell your mom, and not your best friend’s mom. She couldn’t help but feel like a core, mother-daughter bonding moment had been stolen from her, because it had.
Was it the kind of thing where you ate chocolates together and cried? Or did you watch some old rom-com together? Paige’s nan, or rather her mom’s mom, loved ‘Sixteen Candles’ and said she and Amy used to watch it at least once every year. If her mom was there would they have eaten chocolate and ice cream and watched ‘Sixteen Candles’ and cried together?
It wasn’t fair that she didn’t have a mom that cared enough to stick around. But as Katie walked her into Azzi’s room, the younger girl rushed up to them and pulled them into a tight group hug.
She didn’t know what it was like to have a mom, but in that moment she remembered that she did know what it was like to have people choose to unconditionally love her, and suddenly the things she didn’t have mattered a little less.
—------------------------
They had decided to hop into bed early, considering the eventful night Paige had had, and the tiring days both girls had experienced.
From her bed Azzi broke the comfortable silence with a question that had been playing on her mind since she had been sent to wait in her room for Paige, “Soooo, how does it feel to be a woman now?”
There was a pause as Paige took a moment to think, before her voice sounded out from her place on the mattress on the floor, “Uh… I don’t know… it feels the same to be honest.”
Paige’s response slightly shocked Azzi, who had been convinced that getting your period turned you into a fully new person, “Really? I’m kinda scared to get my period.”
“It’s fine Az, I was just being a baby, you don’t have to worry.  Besides, your mom will be there to help.” Paige explained. Though she couldn’t see her face, Azzi was sure that her best friend had her signature light pink dusting of blush across her face as she thought back to her little outburst in the bathroom earlier.
“Yeah, she will be,” Azzi nodded, before she thought out loud, “I wonder how many girls in our grade have gotten theirs over the summer, probably lots.”
“Mmm, maybe, no way to know really.”
“I guess. It’s weird though, don’t you think? Just like growing up, the whole idea of it.”
Paige hummed in agreement, “I think it’s just a part of life. You can’t stop time. If I could, I'd probably just stay here forever.”
Azzi thought of Paige's statement, before she realised a fatal flaw to the plan, “But then you’d have to be on your period forever.”
“I wouldn’t mind though, cause I’d get to be with you forever”
The earnest words brought a soft smile to the young girl’s face. It could be easy to forget how sentimental Paige could be. She was really similar to her dad, in the way she had a seemingly tough exterior, when in reality she was one of the most emotionally intelligent, down-to-Earth people Azzi knew.
Instead of saying something of equal sentimentality, she opted for something a little more light-hearted, “Such a sap for me P.”
Paige rolled her eyes with such intensity it was almost audible, if that were even possible, “Nevermind I change my mind.”
Azzi laughed lightly at Paige’s response, “Noooooo, stop. I’d stay here forever too.”
Instead of responding, they giggled a little, before they fell into a comfortable silence, both girls staring up at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to overtake them when Azzi spoke quietly, “Do you think we’re ever gonna look back on this moment when we’re older and wish we could go back?”
“Maybe, everything is pretty good right now.” Paige whispered back after a moment of contemplation.
The younger girl hums in agreement, “Yeah, everything is great.” She went silent for a moment, before she added, “I hope things are always this good between us.”
Azzi’s words shocked Paige, taking her aback, “What do you mean? Why wouldn’t they be?”
Frowning, she explained, “I don’t know… just… sometimes people grow up and they just don’t like each other that much anymore. And like spending time together feels like a chore and stuff. And then they either stay and make each other miserable, or just leave and be miserable separately.”
Paige’s silence consumed the room for such a long time that Azzi had to turn to look down at her and check if she was awake. Her breath was soft, and Azzi could see the glow in the dark stars reflecting in Paige’s eyes as she contemplated her statement.
She took a deep, shaky breath before she asked, “Do you think that’s how my mom felt about my dad? Do… Do you think that’s how my mom felt about me?”
The silence returned after Paige’s statement, the weight of her words hanging heavy in the air as Azzi struggled to find a way to explain to her best friend that she couldn’t understand why anyone would ever leave her.
“What? No, of course not,  why would you say that?” When Azzi had said what she did, she hadn’t realised Paige would think about it like that, but then again, how else would she think about it?
The realisation that she had caused Paige to think her mom had grown tired of her made Azzi feel like she was going to throw up, like her world had come crashing down around her.
“Well, why else do people leave? If we’re hanging out and we’re having a good time together, I’m not just gonna pack up my stuff when you turn away and leave without saying anything. People don’t leave when they’re having a good time.” Her breath catching on the last few words, “When they love the people they’re with.”
Paige wasn’t sure how long she had been holding her tears in, all she knew was that they had started to trickle down her face and she hated it and wished they would stop.
Azzi felt severely out of her depth, unsure how to soothe the older girl into understanding that for whatever reason her mom left, it was no fault of her own. “I don’t know… I think it’s more complicated than that when you grow up. Like all the issues that we think matter now aren’t gonna matter anymore, and we’ll be thinking about things like taxes and, like jury duty I guess. Like adults are just weird, big kids… And I have no idea why your mom left, but what I do know is that it’s not your dad’s fault or your fault. It’s her fault because she’s missing out on being around you, because you’re awesome, you’re the best person I know. And for what it’s worth you’ll always have me, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon, you’re stuck with me for a long time Paigey.”
Sometime during Azzi’s little speech, Paige had begun to hyperventilate, full-body sobs wracking her skinny frame as she tried to catch her breath.
“I’m sorry Az, I don’t know why I’m so upset.” Paige managed to push the words out, gulping big gasps of air between each word.
“It’s okay Paigey, there’s nothing to apologise for.” Azzi breathed out into the fresh night air.
For what seemed like the millionth time that evening, the room fell silent, bar Paige’s steady stream of sniffling and sobbing. In the darkness Azzi shuffled off her bed and into Paige’s mattress, slipping herself under the doona.
The older girl kept her back turned to Azzi, who dragged her fingertips soothingly along Paige’s arms. They stayed like that for a moment, before Paige turned over, tucking her head into the crook of Azzi’s neck.
Chest to chest, they were so close Azzi could feel the heaving breaths that Paige was taking as she cried into the neckline of her shirt.
“I love you Paige, You’ll always have me, no matter what.”
She didn’t hear her best friend’s response, only felt the muffled vibration of words against her shoulder and Paige’s hand grabbing onto her own, interlocking their fingers.
Azzi drew stars and hearts and “I love you”s onto Paige’s back, not stopping till the blonde’s staggered breathing gave way to the soft snoring of her sleep. Only then did she let herself drift off into the comfort of sleep.

5th of SEPTEMBER, 2013
OAKRIDGE VIRGINIA
The moment had finally arrived. There it was right before their very eyes, Middle school.
The wide brick building stood tall and imposing in front of them. Both girls couldn’t help the wild thrashing of their hearts as anxiety began to flood their systems at the prospect of middle school.
Their parents had left them only a minute prior, and they had been firmly planted in the same spot they had been before they left.
As the pre-warning bell went off, Paige glanced down at her purple, digital wristwatch, before she looked back up at Azzi.
“I think we need to go in now.” She spoke quietly, her worries evident in both her face and her voice.
“Okay, yeah. We’ve got this.” Azzi responded, unsure as to whether her words were intended to soothe herself, or Paige, or both.
“Yeah, we’ve got this, together.” Paige assured, pulling Azzi’s equally sweaty palm into her own.
“Together.” Azzi said with a squeeze.
With that they were off.
As they walked through the doors of Oakridge Middle School, it felt as if the world shifted right beneath their feet. From then on everything would be different, friendships would bloom and wither, personalities would change for the better and the worse. Yet as they stepped into their future, hand and hand, it seemed just a little less scary.

NOTE: Hope everyone likes this one, I definitely like it way more than the first two. Next one will be out probably in a bit over a week I think, if all goes according to plan.
Thanks again for reading :)

With Tracker coming up again soon I wanted to dive back into this world with these characters and thought this would be a fun way to check in with the gang. Please enjoy!...
________
“Thanks,” you said to the waitress who refilled your coffee. The diner was quiet, the mid-afternoon lull between the lunch and dinner crowd. You poked at the slice of chocolate pie in front of you and scrolled through your phone, an anxious feeling growing in your gut.
Colter had called last night, asking if you’d be willing to come out and act as his date at a gala event where he was investigating a young woman’s disappearance. Admittedly, you were a bit nervous to accept. You’d only been doing reward work for six months and you’d had success so far with tracking down a few show dogs, a horse, a signed Mickey Mantle baseball card and a stolen car. But you hadn’t dipped your toe into the truly hard stuff yet. People.
After Colter got you to put the phone on speaker, he and Russell had wore you down and convinced you this would be a good first run. It was Colter’s case, you were simply there to help and offer input.
Flirting with a rich playboy Colter suspected of kidnapping the missing woman while he searched the house was also up there on his request list.
It was only a three hour drive to the small town from home and Russell had an important meeting with a brewery investor at lunch so you decided to help him do some last minute prep in the morning before agreeing to catch up with Colter for lunch at a diner. Yet, it was a few minutes past three and you’d heard nothing from him since around midnight the night before.
“Fuck it,” you said, slapping down a ten dollar bill and dialing.
“Hello, hello, qark,” answered Russell, his voice cheery and bright.
“Your lunch went well I’m assuming?” He hummed. “Don’t leave me hanging. What’d you settle on?”
“He gets 5% profit sharing after the first year for five years. By then he said we’d be well established and probably wouldn’t need him anymore. He was a good guy, invited us to get dinner with him and his wife sometime.”
“That’s great, honey,” you said, turning when the bell over the door rang, pouting to find it was a pair of older men that took a seat at a booth. “You haven’t heard from Colter at all, have you?”
“No…he never showed for lunch?” You sighed. “He could have been arrested.”
“Russell,” you chided.
“He gets arrested and Reenie bails him out all the time,” he said. “I just texted her. I bet he’s sitting in the station right now because he pissed off some local power hungry…shit.”
“Shit what?” you asked, taking a big, stress induced bite of pie.
“Reenie said she hasn’t heard from him.” Russell groaned in the background. You closed your eyes. Today was supposed to be a good day for him. The last thing you wanted was him worrying about his little brother.
“I bet he ate some bad food, puked his guts up in the airstreamer and is sleeping it off. He said he was staying at the Sunny Days Park. I’ll go meet up with him there-”
“I’m coming out there,” said Russell. You rolled your eyes. “If he’s so sick he can’t pick up a phone then he needs help and that girl he’s looking for needs help too.”
“Fine,” you said, your heart rate spiking when you stood. “He’s probably just being his usual anti-social self, right?”
“Yeah. He’s totally known for being flaky on jobs,” deadpanned Russell. “Just…I’m not going to ask you to wait at the diner for me but be careful. Keep your gun on you and you call me when you get to his trailer. I have a bad feeling.”
“Me too,” you whispered. “I’ll call you in ten, Russ.”
You’d frowned when you found Colter’s truck parked in front of the airstream fifteen minutes later. Your pout remained when you cleared the the area and the inside of the trailer, carefully tucking your gun away into the holster on the back of your jeans. “He’s not here, Russell.”
“Anything look off?” he asked through the headphones in your ears. The space at first glance didn’t look out of the ordinary. Computer and maps on the kitchenette table. Coffee mug upside down on the drying rack next to the sink. You stopped short and squatted down, cocking your head.
“There are two pairs of shoes tucked under the table. Boots and trail running shoes.”
“Okay…” You stood up and sighed.
“Russell, I lived in this trailer for a few days and Colter is a minimalist. There are two pairs of shoes here and he only owns two pairs of shoes. So he’s walking around barefoot? That’s-”
“Not good,” sighed Russell. “Do you see any sign of struggle? Blood? Anything weird? Or missing?”
“Not that I can tell. I didn’t exactly do an inventory of his closet when…” Your eyes zeroed in on a tiny black speck in the corner. “He has a security camera.”
“Call Bobby, see if he can get the footage from a cloud server or something. I’ll call back in a few once I’m on the road.”
“Drive safe, hun.”
“You be safe. Anything feels fishy, get to a public place and stay there until I get in.”
“I know. Love you.”
“Love you too.” Two minutes later you were on Colter’s computer, Bobby sending you a link to the 24 hour cloud account where Colter’s subscription was saved to once a day.
There were two feeds, one right over the door to the air streamer and the other a wide angled shot staring down the entire length of the trailer. You backed it up to midnight, watching Colter sitting right where you currently were, texting and finishing off his beer. He stretched and stood, putting the empty under the sink.
He hit off a light and you sped it up, Colter padding out once to get a glass of water during the night. You smiled when he got up around six, an unusually cuddly version of Colter appearing on screen. He had a blanket wrapped around his bare shoulders as he shuffled over to his coffee machine, getting a cup brewing.
It reminded you of Russell in the morning. He too had a habit of walking around with a blanket first thing. You wondered if that was a Shaw thing or a habit Colter picked up from his big brother when they were kids.
You watched Colter disappear into the bedroom, exiting in a black tight pullover along with fitted pants for running. He sat at the booth and tugged on his sneakers before knocking back his coffee. He glanced at his phone quickly and tucked it into his pocket before he was gone, the interior still. The video was motionless for another hour when Colter came back inside, a thin layer of sweat on his face. Sneakers were removed and socks tossed into the bedroom, Colter taking deep gulps from a bottle of water. He tucked it back in the fridge and headed for the bedroom when suddenly the airstream door opened.
Three men in black masks bounded inside, one holding a bulky looking gun. Colter didn’t get more than a step in before cords shot out and you realized he’d been tased. Your heart caught in your throat as he fell to the floor hard, body rigid. His face was etched in pain as he slowly moved his arm but the men were on him fast. Punch to the face, hands zip tied behind his back, tape over his mouth. Colter was out cold when they threw a hood over his head and he was lifted off the ground by a man on either side of him. They quickly left, no one appearing until you found yourself on tape hours later.
“Colter,” you breathed out, looking out the windows, as if he’d suddenly appear safe and sound there. Shakily you dialed Russell, your head in your hands.
“Hey. You hear from Bobby at all?” You tried to keep your breathing calm, remember the stress management techniques you’d learned in med school.
You winced, Russell’s voice loud on the other end. “Y/N, answer me.”
“I watched the tape. Russ, s-someone took him. They took Colter right out of the airstream this morning and-”
“Where are you?” You lifted your head, Russell growling. “Where?”
“In the air-”
“Leave right now, right fucking now,” he said. You grabbed the phone, Colter’s computer and a stack of papers nearby before rushing out of there. “Are you out?”
“Yes, I’m in my car,” you said with a pant, tossing everything in your passenger seat and taking off out of the campground.
“Go back to that diner and I’ll meet you there in two hours. If anyone tries anything-”
“I know,” you sighed. “Don’t speed to get here. The last thing we need is you in an accident.”
“Diner. Two hours. Be there.”
Two Hours Later
You munched on a basket of once warm fries as you heard the bell over the door jingle. You eased slightly when Russell headed your direction, wrapping you up in a big hug. “You okay?”
“I’m fine, Russ, I swear.” You sat back in your corner booth, Russell sliding in the opposite side, getting a cup of coffee and burger for himself before you ordered dinner. “How are you holding up?”
Russell didn’t say anything, just had that look on his face he did right before he killed Owen. Honestly, you shared that sentiment. Colter had your back when you were strangers and now when you were family? Yeah, someone was going to pay and dearly.
“Bobby’s been running the video through his programs but couldn’t ID any of the guys. They ditched Colter’s phone outside the airstreamer so no leads there,” you said, passing the computer over to Russell. He watched the video, his eyes twitching momentarily before he took a long, deep breath.
“Can we trace these guys phones?” You shook your head.
“Bobby tried. No cell activity in the nearby area before or after they…” You swallowed the lump in your throat, Russell reaching across the table and taking your hand in his. “The team’s been trying to find who took Colter while I’ve been looking into his research on the case. I figure he found out who took the woman or got real close without realizing it and that person took him.”
“Smart girl.” Russell cracked a smile, a heavy weight quickly settling back over the table. “But I have a problem with it.”
You nodded, keeping your lips sealed as his food was delivered and you got a plate of eggs and hashbrowns set down before you. “Me too. It doesn’t make sense to take him unless they wanted to know something he knows and they figured he wouldn’t crack immediately.”
“Yup. Aren’t you supposed to go to a party with him tonight?” You stopped with a forkful halfway to your mouth. Russell cocked his head. “He got an invite to that party. For two people. They must think he has a partner and that the partner knows everything Colter does.”
You set your fork down, Russell forcing a smile. “They’re looking for me. Those people are probably hurting him-”
“Hey,” said Russell, voice quiet. Gentle. “They took him because he found out something these people don’t want him to know and he didn’t realize it, not because of you. Let’s figure out what that is and then we’ll come up with a game plan.”
“Okay. Let’s figure this out.”
Forty minutes later, two clean plates and Russell making more than one odd face at the computer screen did it hit you. You slid Colter’s notebook with the name of the party over, Russell’s eyebrow quirking. “What?”
“These people don’t know who I am, otherwise I’d be gone. Colter wanted me to go to this party with him, right? Well, let’s go to the party.” Russell leaned back, closing his eyes. “Isn’t the most likely scenario that the person that took this girl also took Colter? And they clearly are powerful enough to have a few guys working for them. Let’s go to the party full of rich people and see what we can sus out.”
“Y/N.” Russell sighed, rubbing his temple with his palm. “It’s way too dangerous. Just because someone hasn’t come after you doesn’t mean they won’t. We need to figure out what Colter stumbled on-”
“This party,” you said, holding up the notebook, slapping it down. Russell clenched his jaw, relaxing after a beat. “The only research Colter did was on this girl and then there’s the party invite. He wanted to go there for a reason.”
“Alright, alright,” he said, picking it up, flipping through the pages. “How’d he get the invitation in the first place?”
“It’s a charity fundraiser. Anyone in town can go as far as I can tell,” you said. “All I know is he wanted me to be a distraction.”
“Distraction…” Russell typed on Colter’s computer, biting his bottom lip. “Party’s at some older rich dude’s house. Francis Duvel. Sounds like a real upstanding community member.”
“That’s not surprising the wealthy guy is hosting a charity event.” Russell’s eye twitched before he spun around the screen. Your eyes flickered down, reading a headline.
Duvel Industries Once Again Cleared of Safety Allegations; Whistleblower Drops Suit as CEO Vows Quality & Integrity Valued Over Profits
“I couldn’t figure it out earlier but there’s been a pattern of people going missing every so often in this town. Men. Women. Old. Young. Never kids or teens. Always adults. Your missing girl, Alexis Pearson works at-”
“Duvel Industries,” you said, flipping through a paper. “Executive assistant. You think-”
“Poor girl probably found out they were cutting corners somewhere and she said something to the wrong person.” He handed you back the computer and sure enough, all of the people that had “left” town or simply gone missing had at one point or another worked for Duvel Industries.
“How did no one figure this out before? It’s obvious what’s going on,” you said, Russell looking around. “Wait. You think…”
“Article said the local cops found no issues and never have. This charity auction is for the community including-”
“Fuck,” you muttered. “He’s got the sheriff in his pocket, likely a few more cops. No wonder Colter couldn’t just turn over what he found. He couldn’t trust them.”
“He should have called me,” said Russell, closing the computer. He shook his head, staring out at the cloudy evening sky. “I have a friend in the bureau. I could have…”
“So let’s call your friend, get the FBI up here to take a look at Duvel and in the meantime, try to find Colter and Alexis.” For the first time he looked worried and it made your heart clench. “What is it?”
“Alexis is probably already dead and when FBI agents show up at Duvel’s front door, he’s going to kill Colt and the girl if they aren’t already. Y/N, we have to find him tonight.”
“Okay,” you said, getting up and pulling him into your side of the booth, wrapping an arm around his waist. “Screw the party. That was Colter’s plan. Ours needs to be more direct.”
“What’d you have in mind?”
“Duvel isn’t stupid enough to keep him or Alexis at a place where he’s having the whole town come to, right? So where would you hide them as a CEO?” He smiled, kissing your cheek before pulling out his phone.
“Bobby, it’s Russell. I need the address of every property owned by Duvel Industries asap.”
One Hour Later
“How do you know it’s this one?” you asked Russell as you got out of his car. He went to the trunk, resting his head against the open thing. “What’s wrong?”
“I know because this place is isolated, it’s been under construction for years with no progress but the tire tracks we saw were fresh. It’s Duvel’s dumping ground.” He straightened up, hands on his hips. “Qark.”
He didn’t have to say it. He wanted you to stay here, out of danger. He’d wanted you away from this kind of life and said it more than once.
Russell reached inside the trunk and opened a black duffel, holding out a black vest to you. It was much smaller than the one he and Colter fit in though. You took the vest, followed by Russell handing you a thigh holster. “I thought you were going to tell me to stay in the car.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I want you to stay here,” he said, bending down to buckle the straps against your thigh, pulling it taut. He looked up with a half-smile before taking your gun from the back holster and putting it inside, tossing the other one in the trunk.
“What are…” He zipped up your jacket all the way and pulled the vest on over your shoulders, fixing your hood before tightening the sides so the vest hung tight to your body. “Russell.”
He shrugged, green eyes nervous but gentle. “You have let me teach you self-defense, how to reload and shoot, tactics and stealth so you’d be safe doing reward work. You’ve done it all without complaint. I want you to stay at the car but I know my queen of darkness. You can do this. You told me once before you wanted me to show you how to do things, not do them for you. So let’s go do this together.”
You smiled, running your hand over the vest. “How long have you had this?”
“I bought it the first reward job you took. I figured someday you’d need it.” He put on his own gear and locked the car, inhaling deeply. “If you want to change your mind-”
“That building is massive. You can’t go in alone.” He nodded, closing his eyes. “Am I liability to you? Serious question. If I go in there with you, does it make things harder if Colter is in there?”
Russell peeled open his eyes, smirking as he planted both hands on your face and kissed you hard.
“I always worry, qark. Whether you’re in there or out there.” He touched his forehead to yours, hot breath fanning over you. “You do not have to go in. Absolutely you do not have to. But if my girl wants to do this with me, then I’m glad I’ve got her for a partner.”
“Thank you,” you whispered, Russell lifting you up into a hug.
“But if shit goes down, you run.” You shrugged, Russell groaning. “Alright, alright, Rambo. Follow my lead and stick close. Bobby’s going to contact my friend in two hours if he doesn't hear from us so let’s get a move on.”
“Age before beauty,” you said. He narrowed his eyes.
“Yeah, keep it up youngin’ and next time you’re in that outfit I’ll teach you a lesson.” You glanced down to his groin, Russell growling. “Y/N.”
“Sorry.” He nodded, checking his gun before letting in hang by his side.
“Stay low and quiet. Clear your corners and don’t hesitate to use your weapon. You sure you want to go in?”
“Let’s do this.” Russell checked your gear one more time before you headed into the forest, jogging through it for a moment. You stopped at the edge when Russell held up a hand. He reached into his back pocket, revealing a small scope. You knelt by his side, looking around as he mumbled to himself.
“Good news and bad news. Good news is there’s only one vehicle and it’s a car which means most likely there’s four guys or less. Could be more but odds aren’t in favor. No cameras from what I can tell. Bad news is two outside guards. It’s going to be hard to get in.” You pursed your lips. “What are you thinking?”
“If we each get one-”
“Y/N,” Russell scolded. You frowned, his face softening. “Those guys are huge. Odds are they grab you before you get the guy out cold.”
“Russell. I fought off Owen when I was roofied when I was younger. You have taught me so many moves. I wouldn’t risk Colter if I didn’t know that I can take out a guy that size. Trust me. Please.” He lowered his head, shoulders sagging.
“If he’s not going down, shoot him.” You agreed and then the two of you were jogging across the dark grass, coming to a stop against the concrete wall of the building. Russell pointed you forward and you went ahead of him, gun in front of you, squeezing the cold metal tight.
The guard rounded the corner quickly though, startled by the sight of you. You ducked fast, Russell’s fist flying out where your head had been. It connected hard with the guard’s jaw and he slumped against the wall, crumpling down in a heap. You stood up, Russell tapping your shoulder before stepping in front of you. After a moment the guard was restrained, tape over his mouth. Russell peaked around the corner before holding up a hand for you to stay back before he disappeared.
Ten seconds later he returned, body slightly less tense. He nodded and you jogged over to him, keeping behind him as you went through the door and past the other out cold guard with hands and feet secured.
The building was large, some warehouse space, offices on either side. Russell sighed silently before going left. You walked backwards behind him for a few minutes as he cleared room after room after room with nothing to show.
“It’s taking too long,” he whispered. “I can’t check every room fast enough if the guards check in on a schedule.”
“I can finish the hall. Do the other side. You’re faster without me,” you murmured. Russell stared at you for five seconds then planted a kiss on your forehead.
“Be safe. I’ll be right back.” Silently, he went the way you’d came from and disappeared around the corner. You turned your attention back on the six or so offices to go with a thick swallow. Without Russell by your side, your nerves came front and center. But you couldn’t stand there forever. There was probably someone else inside and Colter wouldn’t hesitate if you were in his shoes.
You steadied yourself and cleared a dark, empty office, then another. The second to last door pushed open easily, bright light hitting you in the face.
There was barely enough time to register Colter in a chair, someone behind him with a knife and then the man’s hand was moving fast towards his throat.
The trigger pulled hard as you squeezed it once, twice, three times. You couldn’t hear over the ringing in your ears as you did wide sweeps of the room. No one else was in there and after finding the man slumped on the ground was dead, you rushed to Colter who’s head hung low.
“Colter. Colter,” you urged. He was shaking as you tilted his chin up, a thin line of red on his throat but not deep. You closed your eyes. Fuck, a second later and Colter would have already bled out by now.
But something wasn’t right. His clothes were wet, skin ice cold. Your eyes darted upwards when you felt cold air conditioning kick on overhead. It was only then that you noticed the dead man was wearing a winter jacket for some reason.
You checked Colter over after cutting him free, a few bruises on the face, bruised ribs from his labored breathing and you winced when you patted his shin and felt how swollen it was. You cut up his pants leg and saw the deep bruising, very highly a broken bone in there.
Another gun shot rang out nearby and you spun around with your gun, aiming at the door. Russell appeared a few moments later, sighing in relief. But his face fell when he saw Colter violently shaking in the chair, arms wrapped tight around himself.
“What’s-”
“He’s hypothermic,” you said, cutting up his pants, Colter shaking his head. “We need to get him out of these wet clothes and warmed up now.”
“Y/N-”
“Russell, he’s not stable.” You finished cutting off his pants and had his pullover halfway off. “Call your FBI friend and tell him we need a med evac to a level 1 trauma center. In the meantime, go kill the A/C and get my med kit from the car.”
“Got it,” he said, turning to leave. “I found Alexis.”
You looked over your shoulder at him, Russell smiling. “She’s roughed up but she convinced these guys-”
“I’m sorry but does she need medical attention, yes or no?” He shook his head. “Then go do as I ask.”
Russell took off down the hall, Colter’s wet clothes dropping to the ground. You got behind him and put your arms under him and around his chest, hoisting him up.
He screamed at the sudden pain in his side and leg but you could deal with that later. Right now, he was too fucking cold. You walked backwards out of the room, Colter whining the whole time which frankly scared the fuck out of you.
Colter was stoic. Tough as nails like Russell. Calm in moments of terror.
Scared, hurt, out of control Colter made you heart feel like it was being stabbed.
“S’okay, Colt. I got you. You’ll feel better real soon,” you said, dragged him down the hall and into an office you’d found a couch in earlier. You jerked when you noticed a shadow at the doorway.
Alexis was hiding halfway behind the doorframe, wide eyed at you. “I-I can help.”
“You know what a space heater is?” She nodded quickly. “Find them and bring them back here. Quickly. I saw a few in this hallway.”
She ducked away as you lowered Colter to the ground and plugged in the space heater you’d saw in there, turning it to the max.
You found a wooden chair and kicked at it with your boot until it broke apart. Taking two long pieces, you placed them on either side of Colter’s leg and removed your vest, jacket and shirt.
“And you said my red jacket was ugly,” you teased, laying it over his shivering form. “Too visible if I recall.”
His fingers squeezed the material so tight it started to tear, your heart breaking for him. You leaned down close, wiping the wetness out of his hair with your shirt. With a sigh you kissed his forehead, Colter mumbling something you couldn’t make out.
“I know you know you’re in shock. Everything is fine. All I want you to think about right now is a story I’m going to tell you. Okay? Just lay back and listen.” You soaked up more water with your shirt and leaned back, removing your tank top, leaving you in just a black bra. “You know Russell bought me this bra back when we went on that trip to Paris last month. I know we told you about it and you did a lot of humming like you couldn’t care less, remember?”
You shredded the tank top with your hands into strips, laying them over and under his broken leg. “I’m going to splint your leg now.”
“So there was I,” you said, pulling tight, Colter nearly doubling over as you did the few other spots quickly. “In Paris with your brother of all people and he’s bought me all these nice pajamas and lounge sets and other things you don’t need to know about when he says, let’s take a few days trip to Africa. Let’s go to the desert. Now, I don’t know about you but if you’ve never been to the desert, it’s hot as fuck.”
You made sure his leg was straight before fixing your coat on him, Colter shivering into your hand. Alexis returned with three space heaters and you quickly go them on and around him.
“When you’re in the desert, you can feel the sun prickle your skin. You know that feeling? The heat from the rays literally warming you, getting inside. It makes you so hot. It reflects off the sand, like hot sand at a beach, right back at you. It’s like you’re on a baking sheet, hot out of the oven, baked on all sides.”
Colter was still shivering but he was starting to relax, less violent shakes coming out now.
“You ever have a sunburn like that? I bet you did. Your nose and cheeks got all red, your skin so hot. I know you Shaw boys were always outside. Russell gets these freckles when he’s out in the sun. Do you get them too? A nice hot summer day, out on the water with a warm breeze.”
Russell entered the room, kneeling beside you. “Chopper will be here in thirty.”
“Okay,” you said, Colter’s head turning to the side. “Rest up for me big guy.”
You got up and pulled Russell to the back corner, nodding at Alexis sitting on the couch. “What?”
“Russell, you should take her to the nearest hospital.” He frowned, biting his tongue though as you held up your hands. “She’s not as bad as your brother but she’s dehydrated and cold.”
“No, I need to stay here in case Duvel’s guys show up. You take her-”
“I’m sorry, are you a doctor? Do you know what to do if Colter has a heart attack? A seizure? Those are very real possibilities right now, Russell. I need to warm him up and calm him down the right way and I can’t worry about her right now. I need you to take care of her. Please.”
He closed his eyes. “Fine but I’m tossing those two guys in the trunk of their car. And put your vest back on. And keep an eye on the door-“
“Shaw.” He opened his eyes, finding you glaring at him.
“Please help him the best you can,” he whispered. You hugged him, Russell squeezing you tight before he was moving and out the door with Alexis under his arm. Only the hum of the space heaters and Colter’s incoherent mumblings could be heard as you sat down beside him.
“Here you go,” you said, resting the vest over his injured leg to try and give him some warmth. You held your gun in your hand as the other rested on his forehead. Fuck, he was still too cold. Slowly, he peeled open his eyes, looking so young for the briefest of moments. “I have one last idea. But it’ll hurt.”
He nodded very slowly before closing his eyes tight. “I’ll be right back.”
You jogged out to the warehouse and hit the switch to open the bay door, quickly breaking into the luxury car out front and pulling it in. You left it on and hit the heated seats to low, rushing back to Colter where he was breathing shallowly. “Come on, bud. This should help.”
He groaned when you pulled him through the halls and out to the warehouse, cursing a long string of profanities at you that felt like the closest Colter Shaw had ever gotten to going absolute ape shit.
The ache in your chest eased when he hissed at the contact with the seats and then, you swore on your life, he cooed like a newborn baby. With the heat blasting in the car and thanks to the seats warming his bare skin, he finally passed out with a smidge more color to his skin.
“Okay,” you sighed, resting your head against the wheel. “You’re going to be okay.”
The Next Evening
“Hey,” said Russell. You didn’t acknowledge him as you watched flames flicker in the outdoor fireplace back at home. He sat down on the couch behind you, pulling you back into his lap. “Can’t sleep?”
“No,” you said, leaning your head back against his shoulder. You tucked yourself into him, Russell wrapping his arms around your body. “How’s Colter? He sleeping yet?”
“Oh, he’s annoying as hell. Little shit thinks he’ll be driving out of here tomorrow morning.”
You groaned, Russell humming. “He broke his damn leg. He isn’t driving for at least a month. He is staying with us at a minimum until that cast is off.”
“I’m not the one you have to argue with.” You sighed, Russell’s long legs shifting around to lay over top of yours. “You want to talk about it?”
Your eyes welled up, Russell sensing your tension. Your eyelids squeezed tight, something heavy boiling up under your skin.
“What’s the hardest thing? Killing someone? Or almost losing Colter?” he asked quietly. You shrugged, turning your head down to your lap. “He hurt-”
“My little brother died of hypothermia.” Russell went rigid behind you, turning you in his lap so you’d face him. Your bottom lip wobbled as he pulled you in close, his hands on your back. “The car accident…it was winter. My mom died on impact but we went down a ravine. My dad went to get help for me and my brother but it was so cold and we had no heat and Charlie was so hurt…the last thing he ever said was how cold he was.”
You looked over Russell’s shoulder at the dark lake, save for a few homes with lights on across the water.
“I don’t care that I killed that son of a bitch after what he did to Colt. But I just…” You inhaled shakily, gripping Russell’s hoodie tighter. He shushed you, rubbing his hand up and down your back.
“He’s home with us. He’s safe,” said Russell softly. Long fingers stroked through your hair, tucking you into his neck. “I think Charlie would be really proud of you for protecting Colter like you did.”
“I should have protected him too,” you mumbled. Russell sighed, quietly embracing you. “You’re an older sibling. You understand.”
“Bullshit.” You leaned back fast, glaring at his stern green eyes. “Your dad was an amazing doctor and he left two injured kids. He was either a moron which I doubt or your brother had internal bleeding which made him say he was cold. If it was hypothermia you would have died too.”
“No, my dad said-”
“Was this before or after Owen’s fucked up mob family started drugging your dad so he had psychosis?” Your voice caught in your throat. Russell raised his eyebrows. “Sweetie, do you even know why Charlie died?”
“It was hypo…” You unraveled yourself from him, planting your bare feet on the warm deck. You gripped the couch cushions, closing your eyes, medical facts bouncing around your head. “Jesus, Russ. Why did I think…”
“Because your dad said it. He probably never even remembered he did. Deep down, he didn’t blame you so you shouldn’t blame yourself.”
You stood up, stepping in front of the fire with your arms crossed. You titled your head back, inhaling deeply. “He said a lot of mean things when I was a teenager, as I got older. But at the funeral…he was still himself. He didn’t…”
“No, he didn’t.” Russell stood behind you, curling his arms around your chest, trapping you against his strong warm frame. “So back to my original statement. Charlie, hell your parents too, I know they’re proud of you.”
“I killed a guy,” you scoffed.
“You saved a woman, helped catch a murderer, expose corruption throughout a small town, bring closure to a dozen families with missing loved ones-”
“Russell,” you groaned.
“And you saved my little brother’s life all while risking your own. We are damn proud of you, my queen of darkness.” Your head tilted backwards to look at him, Russell grinning back. “No objection?”
“Fine. You wore me down. I did good,” you grumbled. He chuckled against your ear, giving you a tight hug.
“The words every man loves to hear from his girl,” he laughed, giving you space to turn and hug him back. “You want to try sleeping?”
“In a minute. I want to check on him quick.”
“Don’t be long,” he whispered. He pressed his lips to your forehead, letting them linger. You gave him a hum and slipped inside, walking down the hall to the guest room. You cracked open the door slowly, Colter laying in bed with a frown.
“Need some pain killers?” you whispered as you entered, shutting the door behind you.
“No,” he grumbled, glancing up at you when you took two pills out of the bottle on the nightstand. “I overheard you and Russell.”
You sat on the edge of the bed, Colter grabbing your arm. He tried to sit up, relenting when you pushed on his shoulder. “Rest. I know that’s a foreign word to you but you have to take things slow if you want to recover correctly.”
“And you need to realize this job is dangerous and I am not your responsibility.”
“No, you’re not.” You ruffled his messy hair gently, Colter pouting. “But that’s what family does for each other.”
He wanted to retort but bit his tongue, grumbling as you fixed his blankets and made him take a painkiller.
“Why didn’t you tell me you and Russell got engaged?” You glanced down at your hand and the shiny silver band on your finger.
“When did you notice?”
“When you shot that guy. It helped to think of something else for a bit.” You nodded, playing with the ring. “When’d he ask?”
“About a week ago. We wanted to surprise you and Dory.” His hand fell down to yours, giving it a light squeeze. “Colter, I know you have your issues with your brother but we love you. I know you’re going to hate it but you need to stay here for awhile. At the very least you need to stay with Dory if not us. You can’t be alone right now.”
“I will try to not complain too much,” he said. You smiled, leaning down to hug him. “Thank you for finding me.”
“Let’s not make a habit of it is all,” you said, getting up and pushing his glass of water closer. “Need anything else?”
“I’m good.” You went to the door, Colter clearing his throat. “Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“That red jacket is still fucking obnoxious.” You flipped him off, Colter cracking a smile.
“Goodnight, asshole.” You turned off his light for him and found Russell curled up in the blankets in bed.
“How’s the patient?” he mumbled, big spooning you as soon as you were tucked under the covers.
“He’s going to be alright.”
“Did you ask him about being in the wedding yet?”
“One step at a time, hun.” He chuckled, burying his face against the back of your neck.
“Try to get some rest too, qark.” You closed your eyes, nodding once. “Love you.”
“Love you too, Russ.”

hi! could you write something where daniel larusso is at soccer practice & his girlfriend is there watching him, and then afterwards when practice is done, they sneak off under the bleachers and talk & hold hands and kiss? y'know, just typical high school stuff 🫶🏻 thank you!
You've Got A Smile That Can Light Up This Whole Town — Daniel Larusso
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing [s] : daniel larusso x reader
warning [s] : none
a/n [s] : thank YOU for the request! I hope this fulfills what you asked.
Tumblr media
You sat on the bleachers, doing your homework two classes before. The hot sun beams down on you as you stare at Daniel. In all of his glory, he passed the ball through the green grass on the field. His coach is yelling at the team to “get themselves together” because they had choked the scrimmage.
The coach says they're off for the day and you see him running his sweaty hair back. Daniel picks up his stuff from the ground, takes his water bottle out, and takes a chug from it. You hear his Long Island accent ring out as he talks to one of his teammates, Josh. You were never quite fond of his team, as some of them had messed with your best friend.
A couple minutes later you finished your homework and put it in your backpack. You continued staring at Daniel. It was hard not to. His gorgeous tan skin was shining in the sun. He was slightly sweaty, shaking out his dark-brown hair. Daniel walked around the bleachers and up the stairs, carrying his soccer bag. You smile at him as he drops his bag next to yours and sits down. “Hey, Danny! How was the practice? You smell like sweat.” You teased and he put his arm around your shoulders. “Hey there.. the practice was good. Coach just will not get off of us over a scrimmage.” He says groaning.
“So dramatic aren't you? Wanna go under the bleachers? This heat is killing me.” You say, picking up your backpack and standing up. “And I'm the dramatic one?” Daniel says, grabbing his stuff and following you as you race down the stairs and to under the metal bleachers.
There's a couple people, mostly you and Daniel’s friends that are relaxing. You wave at your friend from chemistry and she smiles at you, just before her obnoxious boyfriend starts eating her mouth again. You make sure there are no teachers and pull Danny’s hand to get him closer to you. It provided a secret hiding place for you and Daniel to spend time together.
Daniel takes his jacket from his bag and puts it on the ground for you two to sit on. “Such a gentleman aren't you?" You said, grabbing his jersey to pull him down to the ground with you. He pulls out a couple of snacks his Mother packs for him whenever he has practiced. It's an assortment of finger food, crackers, and pretzels.
“How was class?” Daniel asks eventually, swinging his arms around your shoulders once more pulling you into his side. You remember, one day, his mother said you fit together like puzzle pieces and you almost cried. He was your best love, the sweetest and most caring boy ever who was completely fearless. “It was good. Mr. Johnson was yelling at this girl today and it was so hilarious.” Daniel laughs along with you as he stares at you while you speak about other classes you've had today.
Daniel was always a romantic after being raised extremely well by Lucille. He would never let you open a door if he was there, even if it was your bedroom door. The way he wrote notes for you and hid them in your books for every class. You always wondered how you were able to catch him. The star of the soccer team and the star of the Miyagi-Do Karate dojo. Even if he was the only one in the dojo.
“How was your day Danny? How was class?” You ask, taking another handful of snacks to eat. He starts talking about an annoying teacher, and a random thing that happened with Johnny. You can't help but admire him, the way he always has a small smile on his face when he explains stuff. His nose squeezes together whenever he eats a super salty pretzel but he continues explaining.
“Are you even listening baby?” Daniel says a few seconds later, after seeing (what he calls it) “your head in the clouds look”. You shake your head out of your daydream. “No! No, I'm listening. You were talking about Ashley Henderson!” You spout out, not sure if you were exactly right. You lay further on his shoulder and you smell his cologne. “Yeah alright." Danny’s Long Island was thicker whenever he was slightly tired. After practice, he would be almost unintelligible as you heard the way his words would stick together.
“Y’know. My Ma asked if you wanted to come over for dinner tonight. We're having her famous lasagna I think. My Nonna taught it to her.” Daniel asks, running his fingers down your spine, something he did unconsciously whenever you laid on him.
You sat up slightly, looking up at his baby browns and his jaw. He has a small scar on the edge of his face from falling when he was younger. You always liked to kiss over it whenever you were alone. Secretly, Daniel loved it too. You let your lips fall on the scar, giving a small peck onto it. "Yeah, I'll come. Lucille always makes the best food. She could serve me mud and grass and I think I would still eat it.
“She does make pretty good food doesn't she?” He says, giving you a small smirk before holding his hand out for you to take. It was something he did after he got punched in the lip and you said he couldn't talk just in case he'd hurt his lip and to “hold out your hand if you want me to hold it.” You grabbed his hand and interlocked your fingers together with his. He smiled at you before leaning close to your face.
You connect your lips with his, giving a slow kiss to him. Daniel slowly reaches his hand to your face, holding it as you continue kissing. Some of Danny's teammates walk up behind him and smack his shoulders before saying, “Get some!” You had to pull away to laugh as he turned away embarrassed.
“Your teammates are crazy Danny.” You say, pointing out the obvious as Daniel runs his hand down your arm. “Yeah I know. I gotta’ play with them baby.” He says sarcastically throwing his head to the side. You laugh at him as he readjusts his hips, slowly pushing them up to fix his back.
You grin as you lay back down on his shoulder. After it got hurt during the karate tournament, you were always careful about putting too much pressure on it. Daniel told you it was fine, but you were still worried. Danny stares up at the clock that sat outside and looks back at you. “We have five minutes until our next class. What do you wanna do for the rest? Jus’ relax or am I thinking what you're thinking..?”
You push yourself up off the ground and stare into Daniel’s eyes. After dating Daniel for a year, you always notice his eyes have a sense of mischievousness in them. Lucille would always point it out too, how whenever he would look at something, there would always be a look in his eyes daring himself to do something.
"Oh, Daniel! No… I'm gonna get to class before I'm late. You know I have Mr. Thompson." You said, gently slapping his shoulder. He always knows you're joking, but you see him pretend to be upset and pout his lip out. You grab your backpack off the ground and his jacket. He grabs your arm and pulls you into a hug. "Hey, I'll see you later," Daniel says. You smile before hugging him again and kissing his cheek before walking off to your class. He waves you off, staring at you and you walk away.

An Orange for My Love
mizu x reader June heat
hello again. been a while, huh? life’s been busy and moving fast. here’s a little something to make up for it. more writing in the future i hope. send in some requests :)
———
The heat of June makes you sweat around the edges of your hairline. You can feel the dry heat stick to your skin and cover you like a thin sheen of fabric. It’s suffocating and the AC unit has broken down, and now the windows are thrown open despite Mizu’s assurance that she felt fine. You knew she didn’t.
Somehow, the work you’d both been doing had sludged fo a stop, fragmented bits of your productivity melting off with each minute of the summer heat.
You glance Mizu’s way, a tired lazy grin on your face. She’s wearing huge basketball shorts that go past her knees when she stands up fully. The ones you bought her from the thrift store in town. Her wrists and arms and shoulders are out. Covered only by the chunky tank top that dips low and shows off her collarbones, freckled and red from the heat. Your thirst only grows as she smiles lazily back at you.
“Floor time?” You ask, unsurprised by Mizu’s eye roll.
“Fifteen minutes tops. Gotta get some stuff in.”
“Lame.”
“That’s adulthood” Mizu shrugs, slipping down past the coffee table and scooting off your thrifted carpet.
“Adulthood sucks” You sigh, meeting Mizu’s gaze once you’re both on the floor. You stretch your arm out and tip your fingers towards Mizu. There’s a patch of sun making its way towards you both, but not quite there yet. It creates a halo glow around Mizu’s body. Her hair staticky and frizzed from the humidity.
Time passes like this: you both drifting in and out of bird song and breezes that shift the tree leaves. Eventually, Mizu stands and groggily makes her way to the kitchen.
“what’re ya doin’” you mumble, too heat-soaked to properly pronounce.
Silence. Only the sound of a drawer opening and closing, the clatter of plates, and Mizu sniffling.
You don’t bother following. Content to stay put and not do anything until nightfall when the cicadas become silent and the air thins out to see the stars overhead.
Mizu’s foot pokes you in the side and you’re met with her long limbs and longer hair that she’s adjusted into a bun.
“Up. Eat.”
You listen only because Mizu sits next to you and helps you up. Her touch burns hot and you blame the weather, the season. Anything but the thunder in your chest, a quiet frenzy in your bones.
“Oranges.” You declare. Like a little kid learning colors and shapes. Mizu nods proudly regardless of the childlike wonder.
The thick orange slices are washed and cleaned, their skin ripped to reveal the glisten of the fruit. Color like sunset and lava, you take a bite and hum appreciatively.
Mizu sets the plate between you. This way, its thigh, plate, thigh. The glass the only thing separating you both.
“Good?”
You nod, swallowing quickly to answer: “Farmers market?”
Mizu nods, taking one for herself.
The sun spot that had started at the edge of the wall is now sitting cozily on Mizu’s hip. It splashes up her ribs and dips to her bellybutton. It’s undoubtedly hot, yet Mizu says nothing. Instead, she rips the skin of the orange slice off decisively, suddenly licking into the fruit.
It’s no use. She’d pulled too hard and the juice runs down her arm and collects at her elbow, into the crease of it. It catches the light and you start to stare as it drips onto Mizu’s basketball shorts.
“Shit—let me..”
And her lips are back to the fruit, a sharp suck sounds and mizu hums as she rips the skin away and eats the entirety of the orange slice. The juice only multiplies and is now creating a small puddle on the fabric of her shorts. It stays for a second before soaking into the cloth.
“Sorry. Messy.” Mizu jokes, lifting her arm and licking the juice off, starting from the elbow to her fingers. She sucks the rest of the juice from her fingers and wide palms. The sound makes you shiver despite the bead of sweat making its way down the center of your back.
“All good. Oranges are a mess—uh, messy. They’re messy. Not your fault at all!”
You fear Mizu will finally find out about your feelings for her because of an orange of all things. Yet, when you meet her eyes, they’re closed. Crinkled in a bright smile.
“I’m glad you liked it.”
The summer heat doesn’t die down for a while after that. But even when the night arrives, your cheeks still burn and your blood runs hot.

HELLOOOOOO this is my first time requesting so I’m kinda nervous lol , but could you please do a fic where seb does period comfort? Like a whole fic and not headcannons pleaseee!
Sebastian (Sdv) x reader period comfort
Ngl I took the prompt and ran with it. I love writing period fics. I think there should be more.
"Ughhhhhhhh" You rolled over on your bed. Cramps were cramping like crazy. Just a heavy steady ache all over your lower back and hips. This was the worst.
You didn't feel like getting up. Getting up meant being productive. Getting up meant watering crops, and feeding animals, and everything a responsible farmer had to do. But getting up meant seeing Sebastian, which is the only thing that was motivating you.
But despite that. You still laid in bed. No matter how much you wanted to see your boyfriend, you were just in too much pain to do anything. And if you could see your boyfriend, you could take care of the farm. Which meant no seeing your boyfriend today.
*knock knock knock*
Unless your boyfriend came to see you? You groaned in the direction of the door, "come in, it's always open."
You heard light footsteps coming in your direction. "Babe?" You hissed as Sebastian turned on the lights. "You're not up yet?"
"Mmmmmm no.." You had forgot that the two of you were supposed to hang out today. He was coming over with pizza from the bar, and you were going to play Solarian Chronicles.
He set down the game and pizza and sat by you on the bed. "Is everything okay?" He pushed your hair out of your face as you adjusted under the blankets.
"Everything hurts. Cramps are kicking my ass." He nodded. Sebastian was pretty chill about all this stuff. And since you were planning on staying home anyways, it wouldn't make much of a difference.
He got up and shuffled around your closet. After a while, Sebastian came back with a heating pad for you. He plugged it in and tossed it to you. Then he grabbed the table nearby and brought it next to your bed. You honestly had no idea what he was doing.
Once he was finished with what seemed to be rearranging your whole room, he left again. This time, he returned with the game, a bottle of ibuprofen, and some water.
"You still able to play if you can stay in bed?" He sat next to you again, starting to set up your quest. He had brought everything you could need to your room, such a sweetie.
"Of course!" You attempted to sit up but it just made everything hurt worse.
He shot you a concerned look, "need help?" He reached behind you to hold you up. After a bit of shuffling you were upright.
"Mmmnn life hurts."
He laughed a bit, "I'd bet." He handed you the water and meds, "take these. And I know you have sprinklers, but I'm going to go finish watering your crops. And let out the animals, they just eat the grass then, right?"
You blushed a bit, how did you land a guy this nice? "Yeah, thank you. You really don't have to, I can do it before I sleep."
"No you can't. You hadn't even gotten out of the bed. And from the looks of you, you weren't planning on it. You just sit there a bit while I finish things up for you. If you're feeling helpful, finish setting up the game?" He softly smiled at you.
The rest of your day went really well. The two of you defeated a wizard and saved a town! You got all the loot, and successfully completed your quest. Sebastian put the pizza into your microwave, and the two of you ate in bed.
You barely got up, but in all fairness, you didn't really want to. Sebastian certainly wasn't overbearing, but he was shockingly attentive. He had brought the TV into your room, so he put on a shitty movie. Honestly his company was what made you feel better more than anything else.
His presence always made you calmer. Once the two of you got into the swing of your relationship, he was shockingly chill. After all of his initial nerves were taken care of anyways. Sometimes he was still a tad cautious though. He barely touched you all day!
You decided that that needed to be rectified right now. Of course, you appreciated that he respected your space. In general, but especially on your period. But more often than not you just wanted cuddles and you'd be damned if you didn't get them!
The two of you were sitting next to each other, so it wasn't necessarily difficult. The movie was crap anyways, so you just rolled to your side into his chest. He immediately went warm.
"Too cold?" He looked down at you. He had a small smile on his face.
"No," you adjusted yourself further into his lap. "Just wanted attention."
"Oh yeah?" He laid down instead of sitting so you could get comfortable. "I can do that." He wrapped you in his arms and gave you a kiss. He intertwined your legs, and planted a peck on your cheek. You giggled as you landed one on his nose.
You wrapped your arms around his waist and gave him a final kiss. He landed a few more pecks before laying his chin on the top of your head as you made some final adjustments. Sebastian truly made even the roughest starting day wonderful. You sighed, gave him a final hug, and listened to the horrible movie as sleep fell over the two of you.
An* hello!!! thank you for the request!! And don't be nervousss, more than likely, if an author takes requests, they absolutely love them! I know I do!! I hope you like it, I know it got kinda off topic and turned into a general fluff fic near the end, but it's still cute imo! I might edit some parts eventually because I'm so tired and this wasn't proofread- but yeah, hope you enjoyed!

Hi!!! You are my favorite bully artist for so long and I saw you create an oc, he’s so amazing, I can’t— 😩❤️❤️ I’m too shy, but I was wonder how he can interact with my prep ocs Mary, Oliver, Margaret and Claudette (or you can choose one of them). Also I wonder if you draw requests, my big pleasure would be to see one of my silly ocs in your great style 🙏 I luv u 💗
Hello! Thank you, you're very sweet <33 I got a funny idea for Mary and Marcel, hope you like it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wrote the interactions for all four under the cut :)
Mary:
Marcel will be a little wary of her. It’s suspicious that she’s so nice… and also a prep. It doesn’t make sense to him. He thinks she has ulterior motives and it takes a lot to convince him otherwise. He’s polite enough, but keeps his distance, which I imagine would irk Mary, seeing as she wants to be liked by everyone she meets.
In spite of this attitude they have quite a few things in common, like art and films, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to break the ice over time. Maybe at one of the parties Mary throws, or in art class if they happen to sit close to each other. Marcel puts on this delusional act about his art so that he can act unbothered when others insult it, but with Mary he might be honest for once and even ask for advice when it’s just them. He’s floored by her skill and often nags her to show him her sketchbooks.
Pinky always drags Marcel along on her shopping trips to carry her things for her like a pack mule, so he is 100% there when she goes out in town with Mary. Whether they care about the stuff he overhears, I have no idea lol
They’re both in the “I wanna be friends with the greasers but I can’t” club, so I could see them complaining about it, maybe even teaming up to approach one of the greasers (and probably fail to even have a conversation)
Marcel roots for her to get together with Gord, mainly so he doesn’t have to see either of them in a relationship with a cousin anytime soon. He does grow to think they look pretty sweet together and is frankly a little jealous
Overall, Marcel treats her respectfully and admires her skill in art, but wouldn’t interact that much with her outside of group gatherings, their personalities are just very different.
Oliver
Marcel is once again skeptical of him, just like with Mary. It’s probably mutual, since Marcel doesn’t act like the typical prep either. Since they’re both quite mistrusting with strangers, it’s unlikely they’d ever spend enough time together to form a friendship. At the very least, Marcel treats him with respect stemming from loyalty to the clique.
If he sees Oliver around the nerds too much, though, he’ll grow disdainful and take him aside at some point to question his motives. Marcel fully expects the nerds to use any shred of information anybody gives them, so he fears Oliver might be a rat or something (he watches too many mafia movies)
They both suck at drawing and probably won’t even know they have this in common until they have to present an art project or something in class lmao. It’d be funny if they’re both like, “Wow this guy sucks!” Meanwhile Mary is displaying a masterpiece next to their glorified stickmen
Margaret
I think they’d be either neutral or sworn enemies. They’re both blunt and straight to the point, so they definitely escalade to arguments regardless of whether they get along or not
Marcel will forever ridicule her for being in a relationship with Bif, since the two boys are kind of frenemies? When Margaret talks about Bif, he literally goes “Blah blah blah-” and parrots her sentences back in a high-pitched voice (like a 12 year old). And then gets pissed when she mocks him back in regards to Derby. Complete hypocrite 💀
I think they would interact even more often that they’d like, since Margaret is on the cheerleading team along with his sister Sofia. Meaning he sometimes gets dragged along to some jock hangouts and even parties where Margaret might also be
Since Margaret is a huge gossip girl, she would probably start some rumors about Marcel, especially if he pisses her off. I mean, there’s so many things you can overhear in the Harrington House lol
Honestly I’m not sure, Margaret really hates the greasers and their behavior, and Marcel isn’t very far off from them in terms of everything but wealth and clothing. So she either tolerates him, or absolutely despises his ass lmao
Claudette
Claudette… would probably have a bad opinion of Marcel. He doesn’t do himself any favors by getting into fights and often being rude to those around him. At the same time, Claudette’s knowledge in psychology would allow her to figure out some of his underlying issues and the possible reasons for his behavior that may not be so obvious to the average person
If Marcel somehow finds out she can’t stand Derby, his view of her is plummeting instantly. He’s a stupid simp and can't comprehend how a prep would hate their clique leader… But as long as she doesn’t outright insult Derby, Marcel will learn to live with it. At worst they just give each other the silent treatment
The one thing they have in common seems to be their music taste. I could see them overhearing a song on the radio they both like and immediately forgetting about their issues just to yap about their favorite musicians for a good minute lol
Marcel cares a lot about his grades (out of fear), and while he’s normally too prideful to ask for help, in desperate times he might swallow that pride and ask Claudette for help studying, as she’s known for her good performance within their clique.

ERM HI…. HAHA… I really like ur elliott fics and im wondering,,,,,, *looks at you with HUGE eyes* what if that one scene on Ginger Island where you have the dialogue option to “help him put sunscreen on” turns SPICY… Perhaps with an afab or genderless farmer…. 👁️👁️
Again, i love your stuff and i get super happy to see ur posts on my TL 🐝💕💕 long live the great bee 🤴
(For now i will remain anonymous… 🪳)
a/n: sorry that this took forever! i was in anti-horny mode. nonetheless, i hope you enjoy this fic!
word count: 1.6k
warnings: accidental boner, blowjob, deepthroating, semi-public sex (farmer and elliott fuck in the bathroom on ginger island), cum swallowing, farmer and elliott fail to realize that they're crushing on one another
summary: elliott needs help with applying sunscreen on his back and as his friend, you're more than happy to help! but what happens when you get too close and too intimate with the whole process?
★ the sunscreen incident - elliott x farmer ★
The summer breeze ruffled your hair and the sun beamed down warm rays on your skin, as you walked along the boardwalk to the resort. A rare day off in the summer season warranted a trip to Ginger Island and it seemed that many other residents had the same idea. An assortment of individuals scattered about the sandy beaches of the island, some soaking up rays while others chatted amongst themselves near the crystal clear waters. Your flip flops made contact with the sand and you let out a sigh of contentment, What a nice day.
Yet, out of the blue, your throat tightened and you groaned from the sensation, suddenly parched. Yoba, I need a drink. Thankfully, Gus had set up shop at the rental bar, serving drinks and snacks to the beach attendees. You made a beeline for the bar and greeted Gus with a smile, “Gus, my man, how are you?”
“Oh, (Y/N)!” the bartender flashed you a smile, “Things are well, very busy today. Can I get you a drink? Maybe a snack?” you eyed the menu and pondered your options, “I’ll take a mango smoothie,” you placed your order with Gus. He gave you a thumbs up and walked over to the blender, dumping the ingredients and blending them. Gus poured out the smoothie and garnished it with a little umbrella, “One mango smoothie.”
“Thanks,” you dropped a few G in the bartender’s hands. You took the smoothie and scanned the shore for any good spots to sunbathe. That was when you saw him, Elliott lounging on a striped beach towel with his glorious chest on display for all to see. Your face heated up at the sight and averted your gaze, not wanting to get caught staring at him like a creep. However, Elliott must have caught you anyway when he exclaimed, “(Y/N), my friend! Come here, please!”
You fulfilled his request and approached Elliott, plopping down in the sand next to him, “Hey, Ellie,” the nickname rolled off your tongue cheekily, “Enjoying the weather?” the redhead nodded, his ponytail bouncing with the movement, “Yes, yes, indeed. Despite living on the beach back home, Ginger Island’s waters seem more lively and fresh.”
“You think so?” you eyed the ocean before the two of you and sipped on your smoothie, “I guess it does look clearer than the beach back home,” you watched the people in the water, such as Kent guiding a floatie-wearing Vincent farther into the sea and Leah’s braided hair and snorkel straw poking out above the water. It brought a smile to your face, to see the residents of Pelican Town enjoy the wonders of Ginger Island.
“Oh, (Y/N),” you perked up at the sound of Elliott’s voice. He held out a bottom of sunscreen, SPF 70 to be exact, “Could you do me a favor and apply sunscreen to my back? I burn quite easily and I’m not flexible enough to apply it myself.”
“Of course,” you took the sunscreen and gestured to Elliott to lay down on the towel. He laid on his stomach and pushed his ponytail out of the way, allowing his back to be completely exposed. Your mouth watered at the sight of his toned back, adorn with freckles galore and prominent muscles. You had no clue why he was so in-shape, given his lifestyle of eight hour writing sessions and daily trips to the saloon for his meals.
“Everything alright?” the writer questioned. You shook off your stupor and replied, “Yes! Just zoned out,” you uncapped the sunscreen and squeezed the white goop into your hands. You leaned closer to Elliott’s back and began applying the sunscreen, massaging it deep into his skin. Elliott let out a soft groan from your motions, He must have a sensitive back.
“Need me to pause?” you asked. Elliott lifted his head up enough so you could clearly hear his response, “No need, I’m simply tender when it comes to my back. Please resume,” you squirted more sunscreen on your hands and swung one leg over Elliott’s legs, sitting down on his ass so you could get better leverage.
Elliott let out a squeak of surprise, but quickly settled down and allowed you to resume your work. You continued to massage the sunscreen into his skin, humming a tune to yourself while you did so. Finally, after a few minutes, you finished up and announced to Elliott, “All done!” you hopped off his backside. Elliott turned himself over and smiled at you, “Thank you, (Y/N). I much appreciate it.”
“Of course, no–” you cut yourself short, your eyes locked in on Elliott’s crab-patterned swim shorts. Without realizing, the writer was displaying a proud erection, you held back a squeak of your own and hastily shielded his boner with your body. Elliott tilted his head like a confused puppy, “What’s wrong?”
“Ellie…” you swallowed your spit hard, “You got a, uh… you got a boner.”
Elliott’s eyes widened in shock and immediately covered the tent in his swim shorts with his towel, “Oh, dear! I’m so very sorry, (Y/N). I don’t know why I have one, I must go and take care of that,” with his towel as a shield, Elliott rose from the sand and walked over to the bathroom.
To both parties’ surprise, you stood up after him and grabbed him by the wrist, “Wait, I…” you stared down at the sand, “It’s kinda my fault you, uh… have that little issue. Do you, uh–” your face was flushed with embarrassment, “I can take care of it.”
Elliott’s jaw dropped at your proposition, his freckled face a lovely shade of tomato red, “Oh! Oh my, I–” he covered up his surprise with a faux cough, “I wouldn’t… be opposed to that. Meet me in the family restroom,” he then entered the bathrooms. You waited a few moments, not wanting to arouse suspicion, before heading inside. Mustering up some courage, you approached the family restroom and opened the door. Inside, Elliott sat on the pull-out chair, towel still covering his boner. You gave him a small wave, “Hey.”
“Hello,” he returned the pleasantries. You walked up to him and removed the towel, staring down at Elliott’s boner. Elliott let out an awkward cough and you broke eye contact with the boner, “Sorry,” you apologized, twiddling your thumbs, “Do you want me… to suck you off?”
“That should do the job,” he answered, “If you’re okay with that, of course.”
“I’m okay with it,” you reassured the freckle-faced man, “Can– Can you pull your shorts down?” the writer nodded in confirmation and slowly slid off his swim shorts, his cock now free from its confinement. You gawked at its appearance, the mushroom tip red and angry with some pre-cum leaking out. It was on the bigger side, maybe six or seven inches, but it was nothing you couldn’t handle. After all, you were referred to as “The Blowjob Master” back in college for your blowjob skills.
You folded up your towel and made a makeshift pillow, placing it on the water-soaked floor and resting your knees on it. Timidly, you placed your hands on Elliott’s thighs- Yoba, those thighs could crush watermelons- you waved off your horny thoughts and looked up at Elliott, “Are you ready?”
“I am,” he patted you on your head, “Thank you for your help again.”
“Of course, anything for you,” you flashed him a small smile. Taking a deep breath, you grasped the shaft and gave the tip a tentative lick. Elliott stifled back a moan, his face now a deeper red. You carefully guided his cock in your mouth and once inside, you began to suck Elliott off. The writer bit down on his hand to silence his moans while you bobbed your head up and down on his dick.
Yoba, this exchange felt otherworldly to Elliott, his crush down on their knees and sloppily blowing him. Spit leaked from your mouth and onto the remainder of Elliott’s shaft, coating it in the bubbling substance. With his free hand, Elliott found his way into your hair and tightly pulled at it, earning a moan from you that vibrated down his whole cock.
Elliott’s eyes rolled into the back of his skull when you managed to find his weak spot, a vein directly under the tip of his dick. You licked and nipped at it, relishing in Elliott’s descent into madness from your cocksucking skills. In one swift motion, you took his full length in your mouth, your nose touching his beautifully manscaped bush.
Elliott held out a muffled moan and promptly climaxed, shooting ropes of hot cum down your throat and into your tummy. You groaned against his shaft while he orgasmed and as soon as he finished, you pulled yourself off his cock and wiped off any excess cum from your lips. Elliott cleaned off any spit and cum from his now flaccid cock; he then put his swim shorts back on and gave you a relieved smile, “Thank you.”
“Anything for you,” you winked, “I’ll see you outside?” Elliott nodded, “Yes, I just need a moment,” you gave him a thumbs up and exited the bathroom, leaving Elliott to his own devices. The redhead approached the mirror and steadied himself, hands gripping the sink hard.
“I need to buy them flowers as a thank you gift.”

The Helpful Guitarist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wanted to have coloured pictures, but two of them were already black and white :( Okay, anyway, so this was fun, I really liked it. This is based on a request I got, and it could go one of two ways, and I chose this one. Basically, Joel is still alive, and he and Ellie lives in Jackson. You're a singer (hobby-wise) and are struggling get around with the chords. Luckily, Ellie helps you, as she always have, though something else might happen
Tumblr media
The air is cold, icy wind blowing in my nostrils as I continue singing. A group of people have gathered, humming along to the melody, some singing with me during the chorus. They’ve heard the song before, and my heart melts at the thought that they like it so much. I look down, making sure to get the right grip as I start on the bridge. I fail, the wrong sound coming from the stupid guitar, but I still don’t stop. The show must go on, as they say.
When I’ve finished, the crowd erupts in cheers and claps. I take a bow before collecting my things and packing down the guitar.
The street is almost empty as I start walking home. It has stopped snowing, and left the town with a white carpet. Some of the stars shine through the clouds as they move, giving little hopeful glints throughout the sky. It’s dinner time, and small yellow lights illuminate through the windows.
“Hey!” I hear. A familiar voice yelling through the streets. I turn, just to be met with a hard snowball slamming in my face. The pain shoots through my nose, the coldness seeping from the white crystals throughout my entire face.
“Shit shit shit!” Ellie yells, running towards me and brushing everything off my face.
“What the hell Ellie?” I say, upset and hurt.
“Sorry, didn’t think you’d turn around that fast. Meant to hit the back of your head”
“Gee thanks”
She does sound sorry, and I carefully open my eyes to see her freckled face and brown hair. Her nose is red, skin bleak, making her eyes stand out in the small lighting.
“I just wanted your attention, wondering where you were going off to” she continues, still brushing her thumbs over my icy cheeks even though the snow has melted.
“You came over yesterday, doesn’t Joel miss having you home?”
“Nah” she shrugs, the edge of her lips tilting into a small smile. “He’s got other things to do”
“If you say so” I oblige, handing over my guitar.
“But you have to carry some of the equipment”
“No problem boss” she laughs, taking the case from my hand and carrying it on her side. We start walking again. Not leaving any room for silence, she starts talking again.
“So, have you gotten a hang on the guitar yet?” she asks, looking over. I don’t meet her gaze, embarrassment from the last performances coming over me. I don’t think my cheeks can get any redder.
“Well… You heard, didn’t you?” I laugh, trying to get some of the tension off the subject.
“I mean, you sang so well, I bet nobody noticed” she shrugs again.
“I noticed, isn’t that enough?”
“You’re a perfectionist, and it’s hard to do both things at the same time. Especially now in the winter, regulating your voice must be complex alone”
“I guess”
We arrive at my door, and she opens it for the both of us, letting me walk in, in a gentlemanly manner. I put all my stuff down, quick to undress all my layers. There’s a lot. You never joke about Jackson winters. She’s quick to follow, wearing a hoodie and some dark-coloured pants.
“Want some tea?” I ask, walking into the kitchen.
“Just water would be fine” she shouts from the living room. I fill a glass and heat up some water. The dried mint leaves from the summer make their way into my cup before being drowned in boiling hot water.
I carefully make my way to the living room, making sure not to spill anything on my way. She’s sitting on the couch, a bunch of papers in her hands. I put the glass down beside her before taking a seat.
“You’ve written a new song?” she asks, flipping the papers my way.
“Yeah, finished it last month”
“It looks amazing, why haven’t you sung it yet?”
I think back to the writing, everything coming to me so easily, the rhythm, the words, the feeling. I did everything, and I knew exactly how it would sound, until I tried it with the guitar. That thing will be the end of me, if I don’t end it first.
“The guitar” I complain, pointing to the case. “It doesn’t do as I say”
She laughs, walking over to it and opening the clasp.
“Need some help?”
“Please” I beg, hands put together in prayer, comically waving them around.
“Don’t need to ask me twice” she smirks, taking a seat beside me and quickly tuning each string.
“It’s no rush though, I’m often tired from the daily work. Just go straight to bed when I get home” I say, putting the warm cup up to my lips.
“It’s insane”
“What is”
“That you dont get to just do this”
“It’s not that insane, it’s just a hobby”
She stops her action, looking over at me with furrowed brows. Her nose is slightly scrunched, and I can’t help but smile at the sight.
“I mean to say, everyone loves hearing you. You should be able to do this, not being stuck in some barn caring for animals all day”
“Someone has to do it”
“Someone else, you shouldn’t” she ends, her final tone signalling the end of the argument.
“If the Ellie Williams is saying it, then it must be true”
“You bet it is”
She lifts the guitar up in the right position before turning around to face me.
“Okay, are you gonna sing or do I have to get the voice out of you in some other way” she teases, ny cheeks immediately burning.
“Very funny, you’re hilarious”
“I know, right!”
She points to the chorus on the paper, tapping her finger.
“How do you want this to go?”
I think back to when I wrote it, furrowing my eyes and imagining the melody. I hum, clapping my thigh in a repetitive rhythm before singing the first four lines. She nods her head parallelly to my clapping, her eyes staring at my hand, but her head somewhere else, like she’s imagining the same landscape I am.
“What do you think?” I ask, hopeful for a positive response.
“I like it, but don’t you think this tone would be better?” she wonders, finger gracing over the guitar strings. She sings the lyrics, the musical notes of the instrument sounding exactly as magical as I imagined it. At the end, she plays in a lower one, making the words tragic. Tragic in a good way.
“I love it!”
We continue till far into the night, and manage to get the whole song written. During everything, she’s written all the cords down, sometimes scratching them out and writing a new one. At the end, we go through the whole song, each word, each line, every part of it magical and leading. Transporting us to a secluded bubble, a peaceful place. Somewhere where I don’t have to wake up every morning to the smell of horse shit and hard work.
“Fucking hell! We’re good!” she yells, handing me a high five. I smack as hard as I can back, probably hurting myself more than her.
“Now I need to actually learn to play it” I whine, dramatically falling down on the sofa, exhaling loudly. She snickers, putting down the guitar and grabbing both my hands.
“You’re gonna be fine, I’ll teach you” she smiles, dragging my arms and pulling me back up.
“Easy for you to say, you can work that thing, I can’t”
“You just need practice”
“I refuse”
“I guess I have to play then”
My expression immediately changes. This was something I’d never even thought of. I look at her in shock, her slight smirk and raised brows in question, waiting for me to answer.
“Are you serious, you would do that?” I ask, hoping she’s not joking.
“Of course, It’ll be fun, I’ll finally stand up there with you, not just watching” she shakes her head.
“Good god Ellie, I actually love you” I shout jumping her, making her fall on her back on the cushions.
“Yeah, yeah… I know I’m awesome” she says, trying to be nonchalant, but I catch the slight goofiness in her tone.
She smells of pine and autumn leaves, funny since it’s winter.
“I would need payment”
I pull away, looking down at her with an odd face.
“Well, what do you want? We don’t exactly have a money system here”
The room suddenly feels empty, the wind outside is silent as her hand makes its way behind my neck, pulling me down to her. Her lips brush over mine lightly. Hot breaths gracing each other’s skin. She’s funny, kind, smart, and so incredibly hot. I push myself against her, lips touching and eating roughly. I hold my upper body up with my arms, while her hand moves up, tangling itself in my hair, holding firmly. The other makes its way to my hips, fingers sliding under my shirt and holding on the brim.
“Ellie, I-” I begin, but she interrupts me.
“Shut up. The only things coming out of your mouth will be the noises I force out of you”

Ur Buck story was really good so can I request a part 2?
Tumblr media
Sure, thing love. I got a lot of requests for a part 2. So, I hope this doesn't disappoint. I wanted to do a little bit of a trend. Enjoy!!! <3
Evan Buckley: Door Lean
“Okay, what is this book doorframe lean thing?” Javi sounds exasperated. You smile to yourself as you turn to face him. You raise an eyebrow at him tilting your head.
“She liked the belt trick, huh?” Javi looked up shaking his head with a sigh. A huge grin took over his face as his eyes met yours.
“She loved it.” He took your I told you so with minimal kickback, mostly because he couldn’t deny the amazing night he had experienced with your assistance. He planned on profiting from your book girl knowledge and training for his technique. He really liked this girl and he wanted to continue to impress her. She didn’t need to know where he had got this mastery from. “Would you mind helping me again?”
“Hmm, I don’t know-” You cut off abruptly as he held up his other hand to show the bag of sweet treats from one of the busy and best bakeries in town. “You want to start now or?” He set the bag down on the table.
“I was hoping you would say that,” He started towards the stairs, “I’ll just go get Buck.” Your eyebrows furrow and your heart slams in your chest, a pleasant warmth flooding through your chest.
“Wait-what? Why do you need Buck?”
He paused turning on his heels to say. “I figured out why I was having such a hard time learning that belt trick. I’m a more visual learner!” Before you can form a response, he has made it to the bottom and is calling Buck’s name.
You try to contain the butterflies fluttering around in your stomach. Last time Buck had helped you show Javi how to do a Booktok trend it had sent you to the bathroom for fifteen minutes afterward in an attempt to control your rising libido. You wish you could have just blamed being single for so long or even Buck’s noticeably good looks but that wasn’t it.
Or at least not entirely.
Evan Buckley had sex appeal in spades. Foreplay and setting a mood? They were his bitch. It was a toe-curling effortlessness that left heat in your lower stomach and made your panties embarrassingly wet. You take a deep breath trying to prepare and psych yourself up. Maybe it had been a fluke. Or maybe you had just been extra horny that day. I mean it really had been a long time since you had any sort of action. Your body was practically begging for some attention.
You turn at the sound of feet on the steel stairs. Buck’s long toned legs flexed deliciously as he took each step. You wished you were at the bottom of the stairs instead of the top so you could see the show that his ass was no doubt putting on. You are jerked from your daydream by Buck’s sheepish whisper. “I actually don’t know how to do this one. I never even heard of it- Javi was just so excited and sure I would know how to do it.” You follow his eyes to see Javi finding the key to unlock the cleaning closet door so the door frame is usable.
You give him a smile and meet his vivid green gaze. “I’m sure you will manage.” You tease your hand digging into your back pocket for your phone. “Here I will show you- but honestly it's pretty typical stuff.” He moves closer to get a better view of the video. You feel the warmth of his body heat as his tall frame angled over top of you. You unconsciously lean back into brushing against him before straightening.
“All ready for you guys!” You look up at Buck and he nods, muttering a soft ‘I think I got it.” You tap his chest playfully with your fingertips before strutting over to the doorframe and draping yourself against it.
“Wow me,” You challenge knowing it would light another fire in Buck- he was too competitive for it not to. You watched a mischievous smile cover his face and you knew it had worked. His long strides ate up the distance between you. He paused just a foot away from you. You felt the air between the two of you already start to heat up.
Buck closes the space between you. His right hand comes over your head to rest on the frame. His body heat and musky smell wash over you making your body flush pleasantly. Then he starts to lean in. You feel his chest just barely brush yours. Your body arches and you feel your nipples hardening. It is overwhelming in all the right ways. His left hand cups your cheek. Your body melts back against the doorframe. He follows you his head tilting down forehead brushing yours. His fingers curl under your jaw easing your head back. Your lips part with an audible gasp.
Your hand catches your forearm for something to hold onto as your breath stutters. It flexes under your touch and you feel the strength he possesses. The thought of pulling his hand down so it was around your throat made you press your thighs together. You are just about to say screw it and press on your toes for a kiss when you hear a catcall. It breaks Buck’s tension as he lifts his head to see Chim. You try not to feel disappointed as he pulls away. Your body instinctively follows his.
Chim is teasing him and Javi as they both try to explain what is going on. You sneak away to the bathroom to once again try to gain control of your body. You splash water on your face but it is nothing compared to the wetness between your thighs. Looks like you were going to have to go home to take care of it yourself…again.
Damn Evan Buckley.
