Summary: In the most ambitious heist ever planned, Team Rocket attempts to steal two legendary Pokémon – one from the Burial Mounds Gym Leader, Wei Ying; and one from the Snow White Pavilion Gym Leader, Lan Zhan. Kay's comments: It's been a hot minute since I last consumed any Pokémon content, but you don't have to be very knowledgeable to get the gist of this fic. Rivals fem Wangxian meet again after years apart to battle, now both as gym trainers and it goes differently than expected. Really loved the slow clearing of the past misunderstandings between them and of course the Wen-Wei found family vibes. And Wei Ying the MILF. Excerpt: “Wei Ying,” Lan Zhan breathes out raggedly. She comes up to the top landing, but doesn't get any closer. “Can you tell me what I did wrong?” Wei Ying tries to keep her voice even, “You didn't do anything wrong.” She doesn't succeed. Her voice breaks as she says that. “You forfeit the match. You are crying. Please, what can I do?” Lan Zhan keeps her voice soft. Before today, they have not spoken in almost four years. Wei Ying has never heard her be so gentle. She clearly will not leave until she knows Wei Ying is fine. So Wei Ying just needs to convince her of that, somehow. “You really didn't do anything wrong. I just wasn't expecting to see Froslass again. I swear, I just need a moment. Then I'll be fine.” Lan Zhan sucks in a breath, “I traded to get Froslass because the other person told me you were the original trainer.” “I'm glad she's with you. That's... I really am happy. I'm just surprised.” Wei Ying sternly tells herself that she is happy. This is what she originally wanted.

So. Apparently halfas are like phoenixes or something, which Danny would’ve really liked to know. 

See, usually with ghosts if they’re forced to retreat to their cores they reform as was, but apparently, since they’re still partially living, schrodinger's people and all that, halfas have to regrow their body from scratch. At least that’s what he’s understanding from Frostbite. 

But how come he has to deal with it? It’s Dan’s fault for trying to pull such a stunt! Oh, it’s either him or Vlad? Well fuck, he might have calmed down and is going to therapy in both the living realm and the Zone, but he’s waaay not equipped to raise a child except for like, monetarily wise. 

Well dammit, how long will this core incubation thing last, he has his new job in… let him check which offer he accepted again… He has his new job in Coast City that he needs to finish packing for and then all the rest of the stuff to do. 

What do you mean it’ll take months?! He doesn’t have months?! Urgh, fine. At least being a mortician isn’t that exciting, nor dangerous. Just hand him Dan’s core and he’ll figure things out for the living side of things. He’s sure Tucker and Sam wouldn’t be against helping, if only to try and claim favorite aunt or uncle spots.

You guys ever heard of baby races? It's when you take a bunch of babies and line them up, then you get their caretaker to call for them from the finish line. Fastest baby wins.

It's funny because (a) the babies are not aware they're in a race and are just kinda crawling around wherever they want to, and (b) the race is very slow which subverts expectations and plays off the Very Serious™ announcers quite well

But not knowing about it and being slow are totally doable in other contexts.

And for that reason I'm proposing that some Speedsters (cough cough Wally Jesse Bart Ace Avery) hold 'normal-speedster races'. (For context, 'normal-speedster' is the tongue-in-cheek name speedsters use to refer to non speedsters. Speedsters are super-speedsters, non speedsters are 'normal-speedsters'.)

I think they pick a spot and bet on which teammate gets there first. Rules are that you can't interfere or touch the contestants in any way and you cannot directly ask them to come towards you.
