Greetings FGO fans. I have a question.
If Saladin had been summoned during Camelot Zero (ie in the six months prior to Chaldea arriving in the sixth singularity) what side would he be on?
Would he join with Hassan faction as fellow Muslims?
Would he join the Egypt faction as he was the ruler of Egypt?
Would he join the Crusaders as he had befriended many crusaders in various fandoms?
What do you guys think?

I recently saw a post theorising that Sir Oswald and Sir Ethan are a couple (if anyone can find it, please share) and holy shit they so are
not only do they travel together, but when they arrive in Camelot, Arthur only knows Oswald, not Ethan*. He simply assumes they are together and offers Merlin to serve both of them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then! when Oswald tells Merlin to move their (shared) luggage trunk from one side of the (singular) bed to the other, Ethan says it will 'get in my way there' despite this room being established as Oswald's chambers
Tumblr media
we later see Oswald sleeping on his side of the bed (shirtless, no less)
Tumblr media
but Ethan is immediately there in the next scene (maybe he just popped out to go to the loo in the first scene idk)
Tumblr media
what's more, Oswald then says that Ethan can vouch for him as a witness, implying that the whole court already knows that they're sharing the bed
Tumblr media
so yeah, openly gay couple in merlin, we love to see it
(*or, Dagr and Ebor masquerading as Oswald and Ethan, but I'll refer to them as the later for convenience)

Leon walking in on Merlin hiding something behind his back: Please god no
Merlin who just finished having his mental breakdown after the others returned, voice far too high, somehow hasn't learned how to lie in 1500 years: What?
Leon who has not had a singular day off since Camelot: Whatever it is, put it back
Merlin pressing his lips together, revealing a take away cup from McDonalds filled with sprite: Come on you can't say you're not a little bit curious
Leon, who once again hasn't gotten a singular day off ever: Merlin!
Merlin, who is just as big of an arse now, maybe even a bigger one since he's only had Leon for company: There's no way they would actually die ***shakes cup in front of him*** Come on just a bit of fun
Leon, sighing so deep it might actually come from his soul, knowing that fighting against Merlin is a loosing battle no matter what, honestly a bit curious if he were being honest with himself: Fine!
Merlin cheering: Yes!
Leon: But just give it to Gwaine. If I have to deal with Arthur having an aneurysm cause his drink had bubbles, I don't care how long it takes I will be murdering you and you won't be coming back.

Merlin did Not like Arthur at first
Then he drank poison for him and woke up and was like “why tf did I do that?……….ohhhhhh. Aw fuck.”
And then Arthur snuck out of Camelot to come with Merlin to help defend his village and Merlin couldn’t stop smiling and his mom pointed it out and he realized the Big L Word could be used now. Not that he was ever going to use it. Not even mentally.
And then Arthur drank what they both thought was poison and collapsed and as Merlin was hovering over his limp form, he felt so scared and heart broken that all he could think of what that he never got to tell Arthur he loved him.
Then Arthur wakes and Merlin is embarrassed by his internal monologue from that moment seeing as it wasn’t as drastic as he believed so really he was being ridiculous.
And then Arthur’s life is actually on the line and Merlins stops at nothing to save him, even giving his own life voluntarily and then killing a High Priestess all in the name of…Arthur. No…all in the name of love. Fine. Whatever. Maybe he loves the dollophead. Gods, how infuriating.
But he can’t pinpoint when he fell in love with Arthur. He thinks maybe it’s because it wasn’t a singular moment where he fell on his face, no, he’s been falling for Arthur for years. Every moment they share, every look they exchange, every word they speak, every touch of their skin, Merlin is falling. “A descent into madness” he calls it.
Even long after Arthur is gone and Merlin walks the world alone, he thinks back to his king and feels himself fall a little more and the exhilaration of it spurs his feet on year after year, decade after decade, century after century.

Do you have any (solo, duet or more players) that deal in some way with the relationship and feelings between a knight (or knights) and their liege?
Theme: Knights and Lieges
Hello! I have a few games that I think work for this; some of these games are specifically about romance, while others employ romance as an option among many. I hope you find something you like here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the Queen, by Alex Roberts.
Build your court of 2–6+ players and weave together a tale of devotion, secrets, loyalty, or betrayal of your Queen. Create your own Queen, or choose from one of the 25 gorgeous illustrations to inspire the journey of your story. Using the 91 included cards for game-play, there are an endless number of stories. In the end, decide if it is your protection or betrayal that makes you declare, For the Queen!
For the Queen is one of the simplest ways to introduce someone to roleplaying, as it mostly consists of drawing cards and answering prompts in order to tell your story. However, it's also really emotionally deep and resonant, asking you, the Queen's retinue, why you love her, even when there are moments when she might not deserve it. At the end of the game, the Queen will be attacked. What will you do?
Avalon Society, by Martian Machinery.
Avalon Society is a game about courtly love and intrigue, and the conflict between passion and duty. You'll play knights, lords, ladies, upstarts, pretenders, unknowns, or possibly a changeling or a sorcerer. Pull swords out of stones, break curses, ascend to the round table, duel your rivals, or even fall in love with them. It’s up to you.
As a Penned to Good Society expansion for the Jane Austen tabletop role-playing game Good Society by Storybrewers Roleplaying, Avalon Society requires Good Society to play. Avalon Society adds the tools to create characters and tell stories in the Arthurian vein, whether in a traditional mode or in modern re-telling of the tale. A new mode of play shifts the story cycle to a seasonal court, and tables are given the ability to define their own codes of honor.
You do need another core rule-book in order to play this game, so I think Avalon Society is a great option if you love games about relationships in general. Good Society games care about character connections, reputation, and the way your characters communicate with each-other, so if you can see yourself wanting to relish the nuance that can come in a simple glance, or the brushing of fingertips, you might find your home in this game.
A Goodly Knight, by MKailus.
A storytelling micro-game to be played with friends. Requires scratch paper, writing utensils, a randomizer (a coin to flip will be fine), and a standard Tarot deck.
In this game, you and your friends will, inspired by prompts from a Tarot deck, tell the story of an underestimated knight, a heroic adventurer torn between Honor and Passion.
Inspired by Arthuriana like the poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the lais of Marie de France, films like The Green Knight and Legend, and games like Shadow of the Colossus and Bluebeard's Bride.
This game is about a singular knight, though their story is told by your group. A forbidden romance with their monarch is definitely a possibility, though it is one among many. The bulk of the game revolves around using tarot spreads to determine how knight's quest will resolve. The game also uses two traits to pull the knight into two different directions: Honor and Passion. Over the course of the game, you'll have to decide whether their actions reflect on or the other, and whichever trait they favor will determine the way the game ends.
If you want a communal storytelling game that allows you to dive into your personal interpretation of the cards, you'll probably like this game.
Hearts of Camelot, by Adrian Randall.
Hearts of Camelot is a game of Arthurian romance, telling tales of battle and heartbreak, with players in the roles of champions, errants, lieges, paragons, sorcerers, and villains.
Inspired by Lowell Francis' Hearts of Wulin, Hearts of Camelot is standing on good bones if you want fraught romance and the burden of honor. The conflict between characters isn't merely a romance between a Knight and a Liege, but the space is there for it, and you could complicate the relationships by having multiple characters all in love with the same person, or have heroes and villains feel pulled towards each-other.
Right now the game is still very much in development, but the rules and all of the characters are available in an Excel spreadsheet if you want to check it out.
Other Thoughts...
Misericorde, by Andrew White, is a game of knightly romance, but you are a squire pining for a knight, rather than a knight pining for their liege.
My Chivalric Bromance, by R. Rook Studio, is a game of queer and thirsty knights in exile, inspired by LUMEN!
The Oaths We Swore Amid Autumn Leaves, by ehronlime, feels adjacent to this request.
Grail, a 24XX game by dandibuja, has hints of a chivalric romance, although it never overtly dives into the relationships between sovereigns and their loyal knights.
Princely by Michelle Jones and For Her Lady's Hand by Lynne M. Meyer are sapphic twists on the genre, about women risking everything to be with the one they love.
If you like what I do, you can always leave a token of appreciation at my Ko-Fi!

Ngl It gets really annoying to consistently see people defend the choice to make Mordred's motivation that his mother is evil and raised him to destroy Camelot as not misogynistic and in fact progressive so thank you for not doing that. Thank you for finally pointing out that Morgause was more complex in the Vulgate than she ever has been in TH White and inspired adaptions.
Your Welcome.
And yeah, the failure of these writers to realize that just because the characters are family, doesn't mean their character development depends on each other.
Mordred can be evil on his own convictions and personal journey throughout the story, coming into his own conclusions.
And let's not forget, the only reason anyone depends on this ridiculous device, is because no-one likes to admit their precious, precious King Arthur may not actually be a good person, much less a good king.
Arthuriana never had and has never needed a Singular Arch-Villain. The big driving conflicts in the mythos are about the heroes' own personal flaws and deficiencies, especially in the Grail Quest and especially with Gawain.

i forgot to address it but i love seeing this panel of da vinci chan and romani. (delusions below)
Tumblr media
in a perspective like this, even if its just a dream, its terrifying. underneath what is usually a sweet portrayal of them, you can see here that they did something once- maybe more than twice to ritsuka's body without her consent. in salem manga, they altered gudako's body to the point where she feels like it isnt her body anymore just so the grand order can keep going.
considering that fujimaru ritsuka, simply a teenager who survived out of 47 master candidates like them, not to mention that they knew nothing about magic in the first place, was forced to go on a quest for survival. considering how she is young, of course she is prone to mistakes. and especially if it is the most endangering ones of all like with tiamat at the 7th singularity or like the lion king at the camelot singularity.
in order to reach "solomon" and stop him, it makes sense that, as the last Master left, da vinci and romani would do anything- everything to keep fujimaru ritsuka from dying so that they would have the chance to fight "solomon". of course that includes surgical removal of her tissues and replacing them with alternative tissues to reinforce her body and protect her magical circuits that allow for master aptitude.
of course its evident that ritsuka loves da vinci and romani, in a scene like this, i think its terrifying to see which i really like a lot since i dont often see romani and da vinci framed like this. most of the time, they are drawn in a bittersweet way after all. again, it could just be the dream framing it like this to make it seem they are inhuman here. but theres still a kernel of truth to this scene. such as replacing maybe 56% of ritsuka with genetically modified tissues that are not her own against her consent and will. (she's only half lucid at the panels shown so it is most likely that romani and da vinci operated on her without asking her first)
and the cold tone of romani and da vinci chan in the chapter could just be them sad about how ritsuka is injured... even if in the current chapter they are addressing mostly how they are disappointed by the fact that they've failed one mission after another all because of ritsuka's carelessness, and that the most they addressed about her is making sure her master aptitude and magical circuits are intact for repair to continue the grand order.
