Environmental Cleanup: Bioremediation as an Eco-Friendly Solution
Bioremediation is an eco-friendly approach that uses microorganisms or their enzymes to clean up environmental pollutants. It is a sustainable and cost-effective method to treat contaminated soil, water, and air. Bioremediation can be applied to a variety of pollutants, including petroleum, pesticides, and solvents. The process involves various biochemical reactions, microbial interactions, and environmental factors.
The principles of bioremediation are based on the natural processes of microbial degradation and plant uptake. Microorganisms have evolved to use various organic compounds as sources of energy and nutrients. They have a diverse range of enzymes that can break down complex molecules into simpler forms that can be utilized by the cell. In bioremediation, microbial degradation is enhanced by adding nutrients, oxygen, and other growth-promoting factors to the contaminated site. This can be achieved by various techniques, such as bioaugmentation, biostimulation, and phytoremediation.
There are several types of bioremediation techniques that can be applied to different types of pollutants and environments. The most common ones are in situ bioremediation, ex situ bioremediation, bioventing, biosparging, and bioreactors.
Bioremediation has been applied to a wide range of environmental pollutants and industries. Petroleum, heavy metal, pesticide, industrial waste, and landfill leachate contamination are some of the common applications of bioremediation.
Compared to traditional remediation techniques, such as excavation and incineration, bioremediation offers several benefits. It is sustainable, cost-effective, versatile, and non-invasive. Therefore, bioremediation is a promising eco-friendly solution for environmental cleanup.

DP X DC WRITING PROMPT #16
(Here's a short prompt! I didn't really think about it any further than what's written here, but it was hilarious and I immediately had to write it down before I forgot.)
✦
Punchlines Aren't Supposed to Hurt!
Vlad decides to give Danny a taste of what it feels like to be treated like an actual villain during one of their fights that somehow wound up in the middle of Gotham. He shoves Phantom into the Joker and traps him in the Clown Prince by locking a Spectre Deflector around the Joker's waist and destroying the key. He wishes Danny luck and then disappears. The Batfam arrive on the scene, spot Joker--now piloted by a very freaked out Danny--and start attacking him with extreme force.
Turns out the Joker had set up bombs all around the city near hospitals, homeless shelters, and police departments, etc. So Danny's trying to dodge as many attacks as he can while trying to reason with the Batfam, telling them he wasn't actually the Joker, and very much having a panic attack the whole time.
Do the Batfam believe him? Or do they capture him and lock him up in Arkham to live out the rest of the Joker's sentence?
In either direction, Danny discovers something. The Joker absolutely reeks of expired ectoplasm and is completely contaminated with it. So what does he do? He allows his core to naturally filter it out of the man. What'll happen to the Joker if Danny gets out of this stressful situation? Who knows?
✦
Thought this might be either a really funny or angsty one-shot fic depending on which way someone wanted to take it.

Father Spore Sneak Peak!
One thing I’ve always struggled with in this AU is how the other hermits join and who are the first few. I suddenly got an idea for a scene and had to write it. This will how things will go in the full book, but since it’s still a while away it might be very different.
Since Stress quite literally fell into the Mycelium Resistance HQ in canon, why not have her find their base here!
Since this AU hasn’t gotten an update in a while, I decided to post a part of this.
—————
“This is a horrible idea,” Grian says, fidgeting with his oxygen tank.
“Well, we’re not getting anything done sitting around,” Stress replies.
He turns around to meet her eyes, “walking into the heat of doesn’t seem like the best idea still.
Careful songbird, Scar says, don’t discourage her too much.
If I don’t try, it will be suspicious, Grian counters. Scar just hums in response.
“You don’t have to come if you don’t want to.”
“I’m not just going to let you go in alone,” Grian tells her, forcing a type of resignation into his tone. “I can’t tell if not telling anyone is a good or bad idea,” he mutters.
“Elaborate?” Stress answers, turning around to do final checks on her oxygen tank.
“Good since if others knew they would definitely stop us, bad since if something happens no one would know,” Grian explains, although the bad is actually very good here. Stress disappearing but Grian not would cause too many suspicions since they were last together.
“Well, we’ll just have to make sure nothing happens,” she puts on the tank and easily secures it, “are you all set?”
“Yup,” Grian replies, putting on his own very sabotaged air tank. The idea of breathing in very filtered air does not appeal to him. He may not breath out spores like Scar does, but breathing in extremely filtered air still isn’t comfortable to him. “Let’s get this over quickly.”
“Yup,” Stress replies, leading them straight towards mycelium territory. Grian follows after her silently. Having been right beside it, it doesn’t take them too long to reach the main forest they reside it. Only a few steps inside she breaks the silence, “mask on.”
“Yeah,” Grian quickly puts on his mask and turns on the now nearly empty air tank, cringing as he breathes in the air. He takes out the notepad and pen he brought along, writing out the observations Stress is making. He doesn’t make any observations himself, knowing this place inside and out.
Grian stays completely silent as he follows Stress, not really focusing on the surrounding area. He’s also zoning out from the hivemind since it’s mostly just Scar keeping everyone out of sight from Stress for now. Until Scar himself decides to join them, at some point in time.
Grian doesn’t notice where they’re going until Stress stops and trails off, “…woah.”
Grian looks up a makes a noise in surprise, staring around at a very familiar area. Stress walked straight into their home camp.
Finally realized, dear? Scar murmurs into his mind.
What’s your plan here? Grian replies, still in shock.
Just wait, he replies.
Grian huffs mentally and follows Stress further in, who is looking around in awe. “This place looks incredible,” she says.
“Yeah,” he whispers, mimicking the tone he had when he first saw the place.
Stress doesn’t look back at him, continuing on forwards, “I had no idea that a place like this could even exist.” She turns a corner and immediately screams.
Grian hurries to catch up, but stops when he sees Scar standing in front of them, a wide grin spread across his face, “why hello there.”
She takes a step back, “you- Father Spore-“
“The one and only,” he replies cheerfully, taking a step closer to them.
Stress goes to take another step back, but Grian puts a hand on her shoulder to stop her. She looks behind her, eyes wide, “Grian?”
He grins, “we can’t have you leaving just yet.” As if to solidify where he stands, he removes his mask and drops the air tank. “Since you’re here, why don’t we have a chat?”
