I think the hardest part of my Villain Team Phantom and Villain Core 4 WIP is gonna be all the LOTR lore I'm gonna have to learn...
Because Kon got Ellie into LOTR and now they both talk circles around everyone else.

It's been a while since I put together Part 1 of my GO fanfic recs. Having read a ton more since then, I figured it was time for another list.
In no particular order:
1. 'On Espionage and Prophecy (or How to Accidentally, but Wholly, Fall in Love With a Soho Bookseller)' by RockSaltAndRoll (Explicit)
This fic takes place in 1941 with MI5Agent!Crowley and bookseller!Aziraphale. Aziraphale is first recruited by, who he thinks, is an MI5 but turns out not to be. Crowley, an actual MI5 Agent then recruits him to "double cross the double-crosser". Lots of pining and badassery (from both sides) ensue in this one!
2. 'Ricochet' by NaroMoreau (Explicit)
I'm a sucker for anything written by Naro but 'Ricochet' has become one of my favourite fics of theirs. Crowley is missing his angel after S2 and ends up summoning another version of Aziraphale. So, we get 1 Crowley, 2 Aziraphale's. The best mix. The writing in this is *chef kiss*. How Naro writes Crowley's pain and the characterizations of the 2 separate Aziraphale's -- just gorgeous.
3. ‘Terminus’ by BraveLight (Teen & Up Audiences)
I had no idea how much I needed an Astronaut!Aziraphale and MissionController!Crowley AU in my life until I read this fic. They have to team up to get Aziraphale home, but there’s way more to the mission than meets the eye. The twists and turns had me clicking 'next chapter' instantly. And the way Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship is written is so gentle and romantic—it’s perfect.
4. "Villainous" by IneffablePenguin (Explicit)
This is THE fairy tale AU you need to read! Crowley (Crow) is a sorcerer, and Aziraphale (Azra) is a prince—this fic honestly feels like it belongs on a best-seller list. IneffablePenguin has a real gift for painting vivid scenes that are so easy to picture. And those final chapters? They totally got me. I couldn't put this fic down.
5. "Cilice It To Say" by izzyspussy (Explicit)
Ho boy. This will be a fic I'll think about often. It's up there with the one I mention next. It's not as explicit as some of the other I've read but jesus christ. As it says on the tin: Crowley has a kink - The kink is Aziraphale. This is big on divinity kink, if that's not your jam, you may not like this one.
6. "Tether" by Ginger_Cat (Explicit)
It's coming up on a year of reading this fic and I think about Chapter 6 constantly. I don't want to spoil it but let me tell you, it's worth it. Aziraphale, now Supreme Archangel, keeps getting summoned back to Earth by Crowley but they don't know why.
7. "Intermezzo" by FeralTuxedo (Explicit)
Aziraphale is a music critic who, back in the day, tanked Crowley’s classical music career with a harsh review of his debut opera. If my fic recs haven’t given it away yet, I’m all about that bickerflirting, and this fic provides. It's also by FeralTuxedo. Anything written by them is 10/10.
WIP'S
8. “Reclaimed” by gallifreyshawkeye (Mature):
Are you in the mood for some Crowley Whump? If so, this fic DELIVERS. Gallifreyshawkeye knows how to paint a very vivid image of injury, so do mind the tags. This takes place 4 years after S2 and Crowley gets dragged down to hell by Satan in front of Aziraphale. It's honestly one of my favourite WIP's at the moment. I am on the edge of my seat whenever a new chapter comes out.
9. "Wavelengths & Frequencies" by imposterssyndrome, shades_of_eccles_cakes (Explicit)
Who doesn't love an enemies to friends to lovers story? While this fic only has 3 chapters so far, I am hooked. But hey, you give me a fic with Crowley and Aziraphale as radio hosts, I am there! I'm so excited to see how this develops and to see more of our 2 idiots going at each other.
10. "Stroke Play" by moonyinpisces (Explicit)
Moony knows how to write pining and I am here for it. In this AU, Crowley competes in beach volleyball, while Aziraphale takes on the golf course at the 2024 Olympics. They're both so down bad for each other but no one communicates. I love it!

Got any good fic recs? Send them my way :) Sharing is caring.

Rules: Make a moodboard for your WIP, a playlist (3+ songs/music will suffice but it can be as long as you want) and describe the Vibe of your WIP.
Oh god, I'm really bad at aesthetic stuff. No clue why, I just feel like it's never cohesive. That said, here's my best stab at Mystery of the Mortal God.

🩸Vibes🏵
A walking, steam-powered vardo lurches over a yellow-flowered marsh and under a sky of curious stars. Red, sparkling smoke rises from its chimney. Muddy footsteps are left in its wake like the trail of a mechanical dragon. It seems like a place of magic, which is fair, as it's the home of a witch. She sits with a lit pipe and a tabby cat purring on her lap, quietly contemplating a distant, stolen song. Even in the peace of the moment, her mind is alight with grand schemes and dreams of adventure.
In the capital of a thousand peoples, there stands a detective office lit by golden lamps. It's busy - goblins, elves, and lizardfolk rushing every which way in hopes of managing the many crimes wrought by rogue mages. At its heart resides a beat of calm in the eye of the storm - an opulent office out of place for its cushy decorations and color coding fit for a palace. This is also fair, as working at its desk is a prince of sorts. The prodigal heir to divine contracts and a deadly curse. He shudders at the knowledge of his bloody fate, yet pursues it nonetheless.
On the side of a lonely road, in a lonely land, under stars that are not curious, but disappointed, lays a wreck of bronze and steel. It bleeds black on green. It is confused by this. Where is the red? Where is the pain? It remembers another place - gray and icy and riveted. It remembers two eyes surrounded by shadows and a grin hanging in the dark like a half-moon. Hate closes in like a frigid wind, piercing through any amount of heart or compassion. It will have revenge.
Tropes include slow burn romance, revenge quests, magic as a science, and mad scientists. Genre is fantasy steampunk.
Snappier character descriptions include a braggadocious redneck mage with a chip on her shoulder the size of a mountain, a prissy, gossip-loving detective with a deadly curse, and a sweetheart of a maybe-robot with some terrifying instincts hidden behind a fog of amnesia. All of them, due to personal quests, will end up banding together to defeat a would-be demigod, facing cunning traps, summoning ritual shenanigans, and their own conflicting personalities. Will they survive? Will they join the villain? Who's to say? All I can assure is that if they fail, it'll at least be in a blaze of glory.
Heavily inspired by the Foundryside Trilogy and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
I'll tag @spideronthesun @kaylinalexanderbooks @ominous-feychild @galactic-mystics-writes and anyone else who wants to play!

Writeblr Interview
Rules: answer the questions
Thanks @kaylinalexanderbooks for the tag!
Short stories, novels or poems?
I like both short stories and novels for different reasons. Short stories make it easier to finish, but I like fleshing out novels a bit more. I’m not much of a poetry guy - I tried it in high school but I’m a bit too literal-minded to be any good at it
What genre do you prefer reading?
Fantasy primarily but also sci-fi
What genre do you prefer writing?
Same as the above :)
Are you a planner or a write-as-i-go kind of person?
I’m kind of in the middle. I like to have a general plan and an idea of the scene I’m writing but I don’t plan too many specific details, and the outline is always flexible
What music do you listen to while writing the story?
I don’t listen to music while writing, I find it distracting
Fav books/movies
Oh boy this is going to be a list. In no particular order (and sticking only to books and movies because including other media would take years lol):
Lord of the Rings
Star Trek IV
Agents of Artifice
Grishaverse, especially Six of Crows duology
The Cosmere, especially Warbreaker and Mistborn (I haven’t read Stormlight or the latest Mistborn so please no spoilers :))
Any Current WIPs?
Still working on Seven Station Chronicles and the Pirates’ Roost. One step at a time :)
If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?
Probably a white t-shirt, weird patterned pants, and black sneakers
Create a character description of yourself.
I don’t like describing myself so I’m going to pass on this one. I just can’t do it without it feeling weird
Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?
Nope. I’ll base aspects of characters on people I know, but I don’t try to base characters 1-to-1
Are you kill-happy with the characters?
Definitely not. I hate killing characters I like. Villains are 100% on the table though :)
Coffee or Tea while writing?
I don’t drink either. I like water :)
Slow or Fast writer?
In terms of actually writing a scene, pretty fast. In terms of finding time to sit down and write, pretty slow, unfortunately
Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?
My gf is probably my biggest inspiration. She always has so many good ideas. Other than her, media I like and observing the world around me
If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?
I think I’d be like… a classic library wizard. Idk why I think it would suit me
Fave book cliche?
Plot forcing characters to confront their traumatic backstories. It’s so good
Least fave book cliche?
Found family breaks up. Just let them stay together please authors I’m begging you
Fave scenes to write?
Hurt/comfort scenes. Either of those are good :)
Most productive time of day for writing?
Late afternoon/early evening. I’m a night owl so that’s when I’m most awake
Reason for writing?
I have so much in my brain, I need to get it out somehow. I’d implode otherwise :)
This was a fun little game! @wyked-ao3 @somethingclevermahogony @moltenwrites want to play? Blanks are below the cut

WIP Questionnaire
Thank you for the tag @buffythevampirelover !
Project.Seraph :)
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
The character of Nevaeh was my leap of faith into this one. Previously I had only ever really written horror/thriller and I had always been too afraid to create my own fantasy world, but for some reason I just couldn't leave the idea of my broken little angel alone. The more I imagined her in different scenarios and fleshed out different characters and a plot, I knew I had to write it seriously or I'd never forgive myself.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Honestly I really fuck with Plenty by Aeseaes for this one. The whole vibe is immaculate and it really encapsulates the mood of the story through the lyrics.
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
I truly love them all for different reasons (except maybe Marco, fuck you Marco.) Though Nevaeh is my sweet innocent angel baby could never do anything wrong ever loml, and Queen Reinette is a favourite because I adore a good villain and I am very proud of the way I've written her character.
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
I'm hoping the same kind of people who tore through Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments will find my books to be worth of a good read. Also my fellow 'Merlin made me realise I was queer' pals. Not quite as high fantasy but I think P.Seraph is sometimes quite reminiscent of The Witcher too.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
There are so many scenes that I've already imagined and desperately want to write, so writing everything in between to bridge the scenes together is so painful lmao. What do you mean I have to write about the journey to the castle before I get to write my big dramatic inciting incident???
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
A lot of the first half is based in the woodland so many animals are encountered, though crows and various other corvids are a recurring motif. Also a lot of horses! Most characters travel by horse, including my little band of travelling thieves and the Queen's guards. In the marketplace there is also a very well known cat that belongs to the tavern-owner and likes to steal from people's stalls lmao
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
Mostly by foot, by horse, or by a carriage drawn by a horse.
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
Still the first draft rn but it's coming along smoothly. I have also been writing Project.Ink and fleshing out Project.Claw so I haven't been dedicating quite as much time to P.Seraph as I would like.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
Who doesn't love a good enemies to lovers, right? This story absolutely reeks of betrayal, dark royalty, doomed love, war.... idk it has everything in it that I wanted to read all in one story and I hoped some people could relate
10. What are your hopes for your wip?
Obviously, I hope to be published one day, and if it is, my hope is that it will be one of those books that leaves people reeling after they've read it. I want people to connect to it, to cry over it, to read it so many times it doubles in size. I want people to be as violently in love with my characters as I am and I want people to relate to the story in whichever way they see fit. I want it to mean something to someone. One day. Eventually.
no pressure tags for @melpomene-grey, @goldxdarkness, @darkangel319 :)

My Fics
Heyy, I'm therealsophiependragon on Ao3 or Pendragon as I go by on the dangerous seas of the internet. Here's a comprehensive list of everything I have written and put on Ao3!
Recent notable mentions include:
- The Moon Told Me Of You has passed 350 kudos, which is absolutely mind-boggling to me!
- Moon Rabbit is at 100 kudos ✨
- Listen To Me Love You has been graciously granted 50 kudos!
- Sidewalk Chalk reached 80 kudos!
Thank you very much!
Avatar: The Last Airbender
The Moon Told Me Of You
Cages are for monsters. Azula knew this well. Cages were deserved, by those singular enough to earn the watchfulness of others. And if that was true, then Azula was the queen of them, for hers was a very careful cage.
A careful cage for a monstrous girl.
Well, tonight they would see if it was careful enough.
Or,
A summoning-gone-wrong lands two princesses on a legendary quest to save the world that abandoned them both.
This fic includes:
Yuezula (Azula/Yue)
100k+ words, WIP multi-chapter
Dangerous quest
Obscene amount of liberties taken with the spirit world (the author admits to having only watched the first season of Korra... but I promise the liberties taken are kind of interesting?)
Annoyances-to-lovers with a sprinkle of grumpy/sunshine
Sun and Moon trope into oblivion
Moon Rabbit
“You think it was my destiny to be defeated by my pathetic excuse for a brother.”
“I think we write our own destinies.”
“Oh, for the love of Agni, go away.”
Or,
Yue visits Azula the night after the Agni Kai.
This fic includes:
Yuezula
4.8k words, complete one-shot
Sun and Moon trope
Musical inspiration (Moon Rabbit by Blackbird & Crow, very good song highly recommend also if you do give it a listen please consider writing out the lyrics and sending them to me because I have a very bad ear for lyrics and understand maybe half of what she's singing)
Yue Talking Sense Into Azula tm
Contains kneeling/subversion of hierarchal norms because love transcends all boundaries
My Hero Academia
Sidewalk Chalk
Toga does not know how to flirt, so naturally she stalks Uraraka for weeks before finally mustering the courage to ambush and invite her to participate in a sidewalk chalk challenge. As one does. Uraraka is unamused.
This fic includes:
Togachako (Toga Himiko/Uraraka Ochako)
2.4k words, complete one-shot
Toga being Toga
Improper usage of sidewalk chalk
An abundance of banter
Character study of the togachako relationship
Fun
Corporeal Levity
"I think my family is rotten."
"Yeah, welcome to the club, kid."
Or,
Hanako Takahashi used to have a family. Now, she's a villain, using her quirk to help the League of Villains find their leader, who they all know has to still be out there—before the rest of the world does. When a lead puts U.A. on their radar once again, Hanako must don a mask of morality and join the many wannabe heroes at the school to obtain information that could put the villains on top once more. And she might be able to pull it off, too... if her annoying new classmate would stop following her around like an overly-enthusiastic, opposite-of-stealthy puppy.
Eri Aizawa has a family, and a very nice one, but sometimes she feels... lost. When her dreams of heroism are put on hold by her wearily worried father, Eri knows she has to prove herself: by taking the U.A. exam anyway, and working her way up to being a hero everyone can be proud of. And if she can figure out her awesomely mysterious classmate while she's at it, well, that's just an added bonus.
This fic includes,
Not much actually because it's on indefinite hiatus after two chapters
12k words, incomplete
Found family
Teenage Eri Aizawa & LOV-child OC
Necromancy
Hopefully more once I decide I have time to write it
The Walking Dead
The Other Way
Sophia has always been a scared little girl in a world of monsters. The apocalypse didn’t change much.
But it did teach her one thing: there are lots of ways to turn.
This fic includes,
Zombies
A traumatized child
3.2k words (one-shot, complete)
Sophia Peletier character study
Is the brunt of all of my frustration that she died so early because DAMN if she had survived... ugh i wish
My pride and joy
It got hit with that kudos bot a while back too so now the kudos-to-hits ratio is obscene and makes me sad but whatever even the robots love me y'all
Harry Potter
Listen To Me Love You
Ginny and Luna are in love, they just don't know it yet.
Fortunately, all it takes to fix this is a nudge from Fate, and a little bit of bad luck.
This fic includes,
Linny (Ginny/Luna)
2.5k words, completed one-shot
Sun and Moon coded (kind of idk I say that but do I mean it nobody really knows)
Sad Ginny, Wise Luna
Set in Fifth Year (so Ginny's fourth year)
Actually beta-read, which is a first for me

WHISPERS - A Formal WIP Intro
“Why don’t you run?”
“Because I’ve seen people try.”
Ivan takes a drag. I watch him let the smoke linger on his lips before exhaling, wonder when he picked up the habit.
“They always come back.” He taps the ash away, and it catches in the breeze like snow, almost enough to distract from the dead resignation in his voice. “The alternative is always worse, and you always know it was your fault.”
The blaring of a train horn in the distance bridges the silence briefly before it fades, the chug of its wheels rumbling through the mountains and building like a crack of rolling thunder.
“Think,” Dakarsa mumbles.
Ivan glances to him. “Hm?”
“You’ll think it was your fault. But it’s the Shadow’s. All of it is.”
Ivan lets the cigarette drop, snuffs it with his shoe. “And whose fault is it if I skate despite everyone’s warnings, only to fall through the ice I was told time and time again was too thin to carry me?”
Genre: Tragic Dark Fantasy/Noir
Target Audience: Adult
POV: Dual POV First-Person present, where one POV frequently drops into First-Person past
Blend pitch: Six of Crows x The Magnus Archives x Carrie
Recurring content warnings: R+ rated violence; emotional abuse; episodes of unreality and loss of autonomy; gambling, smoking, and alcohol addictions; sex and sexual harrassment; transphobia.
Themes: The effects of losing loved ones unexpectedly and without closure or explanation; being trapped by the mistakes you made in the past; the inability to help those around you without digging their graves right next to yours; what do you do when the villain is right? When you see your face, your actions, in theirs?
Tumblr media
Marika Swiftfoot has hidden from the Shadow for ten years, but ten years isn't a life complete.
She has a debt to pay, and the Whisper who indebted her has finally come to collect. And once again, she is ripped away from everything she calls home as the result of a poor choice she made years ago, when she didn't know what would come.
But she will not go to Fowden without a fight.
And she swears the man who brings her there will die by her hand, no matter how much she once loved him.
Lorelei, too, is steeped in the regrets of her past, in the legacy of her forebears. For she is known by three names: Softheart. Witmouth. Vowbreaker.
She wants to earn Hopebringer before her legs give out for good.
But first, she needs to find out what happened to her little sister. First, she needs to find the man who's disappeared with just as little trail left behind, thirty years later.
First, she needs to end the Shadow of Fowden.
For she is not her father; she does not break her vows.

WHISPERS is a standalone novel with its first edits complete at 176,000 words. It is in the hands of beta readers as of January 10th, 2024, and will begin querying once the critique period has finished in July.
The taglist for this WIP will be maintained under the cut, alongside a few short character overviews!
Marika Swiftfoot - Narrator I - The easily-angered woman with a past she's buried under soot and blood, who owes her life to the Shadow because of an offered kindness with strings she couldn't see at the time, and who now has to work with the one who offered it in the first place, as well as a naive young man who looks five years too young for a debt of his own.
Lorelei Witmouth, Softheart, Vowbreaker - Narrator II - The woman who has dedicated thirty years of her life to trying to find what happened to her sister between attempts to better the world in her name - including finding answers for all who disappear the same way, and ridding the world of the Shadow.
Ivan Greyheart - The man who helped, loved, and indebted Marika ten years back, and who has spent all of those years forced to shove his humanity aside for the Shadow's purposes.
Dakarsa - The man who looks more innocent than he is, and who has all but the Shadow convinced of it, despite the darkness he's more familiar with than most.
The Shadow of Fowden - The Sorceress who leads the Whispers to her bidding with magical tattoos and more knowledge of the world's depravity than any other, and uses it to strike fear wherever she can.
Katya Witmouth - Lorelei's eldest sister, bettering the world by helping those most easily left by the wayside, and worrying over each and every one that ceases to stay at her hearth without warning.
Arkady Starsent - The Police Commissioner of Myshari who has worked with Lorelei to try and catch the Shadow for twenty years, and who is losing his battle with addiction and temptation in the process.

ok so do like does everybody (teachers, class 1-A, villians, heros, eri and mt lady) have a most liked mask and least like
for example
Eri loves the unicorn mask but dislikes the crow because overhaul
present mic loves the crow mask but hates the spider(reason for it be during halloween izuku used it and present mic got to see it first with the legs opening and his head tilting a bit before running at him with the knowledge of his fear)

First chapter of a wip (dark mog au)
“I am ready to request my second lesson” Morrigan whispered to herself. A volley of concerns and excuses tumbled through her mind, but she shut them down. All at once, her bedroom went dark, but for millions of glowing red specks of light.
“I have to admit, I thought you’d take longer.” Squall materialized out of the darkness. “‘Never going to be like me’ and all that. Glad to find out I was wrong.”
“You’re not, I just want to learn how to use my power. I’m not going to be like you.” Morrigan couldn’t keep her voice from shaking, as hard as she tried.
“Well then, Miss Crow. Would you like to learn how to summon Wunder?”
For a split second, Morrigan’s cheek twitched into a smile. “Absolutely.”
“Well then,” squall clapped, and the Hunt vanished as suddenly as they had arrived. “Let us begin.”
“Morningtide’s child is merry and mild,”Morrigan began. Her singing voice was horrendous, but she pressed on. “Eventide’s child is wicked and wild,” she kept going, confidence growing with every off key note. “morningtide’s child arrives with the dawn, eventide’s child brings gale and storm” she flexed her fingers, feeling a faint prickle.
“Where are you going, oh son of the morning?” Squall prodded.
“Up with the sun where the winds are warning”
“Where are you going, oh daughter of the night?”
“Deep down below where the pale things bite.” Morrigan opened her eyes to a near blinding quantity of Wunder. It swirled around her and caught her in a pale, glowing tornado until all she could see was golden light. “What do I do?” Morrigan asked, a notable edge of terror creeping into her voice.
“You use it.” Squall said simply, as if this were obvious.
With her panic, the taste of ash rose in her throat. She squeezed her eyes to prevent a few desperate tears from falling, silently begging for Squall to stop it, for Jupiter to come in, anything!
“Breathe” Squall’s voice cut through her fear like a hot knife through lard. Morrigan opened her eyes and breathed. Were those… sparks? And was there a little less Wunder in the room? She exhaled again, and all the wunder around her pulled itself into a glowing fireball. Squall smiled.
“Inferno.”
That's fucking brilliant, I love the dark Mog aus, she would be a fantastic villain. Teacher Ezra is also fabulous and I love their dynamic.

WIP WHENEVER
This isn't bg3 but a section from a longfic I have been working on since 2021 for Arkham Knight. TW for missing persons/children, parental grief, dead bodies, dead animals
Clark Kent wades through reed ridden water, and listens.
He hears it all. the buzz of a radio two miles away, in a creaking, crumbling farmhouse he had driven past on the way into Gotham. Driven, because as much as Batman needed distance, Bruce Wayne needed help, and the light of day, and surprise. He hears the screech of a flock of crows as they circle a dead dog in a ditch three miles south, against the wind.
He can smell the contents of its stomach, mostly garbage but with little shreds of wild meat no human could digest, and the rot of cyanide, probably from poison a farmer had put out for his canine pest. He can hear the swish of the current and feel the big body of a bull shark sway past him.
He can hear the thud of a father's heart as he fervently dismisses one more square mile of the no man's land that surrounds Gotham city.
They've been at this for three weeks now. Three weeks in which Clark squeezes in rush trips to Gotham, wading through sewers and helping Bruc dig up mountains of trash heaps or scan warehouses from days long, long past their intended use. Anywhere the joker may have stashed a body.
Bruce won't say it, but ten months have passed, and it's as it Jason Todd has vanished into thin air. The joker, malignant thing that he is, has sat pretty and quiet in Arkham for the majority of Jason's disappearance. his tracker stuck to the underside of a child's mechanical horse somewhere in miagani. A gun missing from Bruce's safe, a classroom full of children who all had closed casket funerals. Dead end, tool, and motive.
That leaves a small window for a young man to do exactly as his father told him not to do and get himself taken for it. The statistics don't change for heros or for villains: the first 48 hours of a disappearance is the only time in which survival is more likely than not. The rest is a percentage that ticks by with each minute, one which plummets to 10% when jack white is involved. 1% when captivity lasts for longer than a week.
So. Body. Which Bruce will not admit to being a body yet, because while he texts Clark at random intervals during the day and they wonder the city in a shitty pick up truck, undisturbed and out from under Barbara's watchful gaze, Bruce is ripping apart Gotham at night.
He had brought Clark along, in those early weeks.
He had brought Clark along, in those early weeks.
Back when he still had hope. Clark could hear it in his heartbeat, that frantic puttering that doesn't stop until sleep takes him and starts up immediately when consciousness comes calling.
Barbara had helped. Dick had helped. Bruce still allotted the lions share to himself, still grasped for
- anything. Clark has found bits and pieces. Hair in a warehouse, Jason's boot prints in Arkham's botanical gardens. They came to nothing. The calls had stopped until they didn't. Now bruce is looking for something cold and unmoving.
Clark nearly falls off the sand dune he's on as the thought that Bruce is giving up settles in. Only the gaping void of not knowing fills the air now, with only the taste of resignation to act as chaser. Bruce will never know for sure if Jason is dead. Bruce, and Clark, and maybe even Barbara, whose grown up hearing stories about dead little boys and girls all the way back to when she was a little girl herself, are giving in. The new Robin does not seem as convinced. Clark likes that earnestness, thinks it'll serve him well. It doesn't change the fact that Joker wins by omission.
"Have you found anything?" Comes Bruce's voice in his ear piece. It's dialed all the way down, but the static still makes his teeth ache and Clark nearly misses swatting away an all too curious mama Bull, her tail giving him a good whack for his efforts.
"There's a woman whose body is tangled up in a fishing net just below that broken set of docks off
140. Blue warehouse right next to it. Please text Barbara to-"
"No Jason?"
They've found twenty bodies like this, ranging from five to forty-five. Most of them have been identified. Which should feel good. But when all you're praying for is a body to scrape up from the bottom of Gotham bay just so a funeral could be arranged, so his father, your best friend, can at least pray over him and visit him every Sunday, it only makes you sour.
"I'm sorry," comes out of his mouth before he can stop it. It feels like it's all he says now. Can you watch over family symbolically if family isn't there?
How many days and nights does god need for boys in lead lined graves?
…I'll call it in myself," Bruce says, and Clark nearly throws that damned piece of plastic into the bay.
Another bull as tried to sink its teeth into his rubber overalls, and the pressure keeps him from screaming or crying or both. The desperation to fix the unfixable is killing him. Clark could fly back to metropolis and pretend this isn't his problem, but for a thousand reasons, ranging from friendship to knowing the boy to knowing his brother even better, he could never. He breaths in, petting the cool, rough flesh of the shark.
He wonders if the gaunt, hallowed out look that Bruce carries with him now is permanent, a distinct hanger on for a child who gives off no scent or sound or heat.

Thank you everyone who has been waiting for this. I moved across the ocean recently and life is still a bit of a whirlwind, but silver lining: my recording booth is in storage right now so I have no excuse Not to finish my WIP projects since I cannot record anything new (at least not until I get my living situation better situated). So here we are: Chapter 20 of @ineffablepenguin 's beautiful "Villainous" : "Fraternizing", wherein Crow and Azra take their relationship to the next level.
Link to podfic on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/34867507/chapters/120967975

WIP Questionnaire tag!
Thanks @drchenquill for the tag!
I have already done this for Apollo and Tyro, but I will now answer for the Marsh and Daimion WIP.
1. What’s the first part of your WIP that you created?
These characters started with my frustration that so many ‘villains’ in books were just misunderstood or were doing bad things but they were forced or pressured into it. Obviously this can be fun, but I wanted to write a character who just killed because they purely enjoyed it. That was who marsh was, then I daydreamed for a while.
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
Some type of indie rock, with Marsh in the background killing people in the prison.
3. What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?
Marsh is my favourite to write. He just really enjoys what he does and also he is actually a really interesting character when you get down to it.
4. What other pieces of media do you think your fanbase would share?
Oooh, I think another series that does the ‘I enjoy my harmful ability’ well is the atlas six, with Callum nova, so maybe that. Also it sometimes gives me six of crows vibes I guess.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your WIP?
Dealing with Daimion’s regret in an interesting way is hard, because it gets really repetitive if he just keeps going ‘oh I hate myself’ all of the time. I try to make him struggling while also letting him be active and supported.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
Again not really. They would be very hard to fit into a travelling adventure story as taking an animal with them would be very difficult with the action.
7. How do your characters travel/get around?
Boats mainly and walking. There are airships but at this point they are very new and only exist in two cities. They don’t come up in this story. Mages commonly use teleportation, but none of these characters are mages.
8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?
I’m currently just playing with some scenes here and there as it is not the main project I am working on.
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) will you think draw your audience in?
I don’t know about tropes. Sibling rivalry, redemption (Daimion not Marsh)
10. What are your hopes for your WIP?
I don’t know really for this one. I might start writing a book or a short story, but for now they are just fun characters I play with as a break from my actual writing.

For the ask game :D
54. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
35. What is one essential thing to remember when writing a villain?
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them? ( 👀👀 at this one. No idea how you whip up so many ideas but more power to you LOL may they keep coming)
Hello <3 I haven't actually answered an ASK in forever, but I love these!! AH. Thank you.
54. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
My absolute favorite part is the ability to slightly twist canon and provide readers (and myself) with new takes on ✨weird magic shit.✨ Hehe. I really love when I can read TES like a text (which it kind of is), find a strange detail and absolutely go wild with it. I like writing on the rails for World, too, for the most part, but I'm really enjoying the bits I get to make up, like new pieces of dungeons, or worldbuilding that isn't touched on in the source material. It's a ton of fun.
35. What is one essential thing to remember when writing a villain?
@paraparadigm teaches us this best with Undnar, but the best kinds of villains believe wholeheartedly that what they are doing is the best way to proceed to get to their goals. That they are, without a doubt, wholly correct in their approach because to them, there is no other way. There is such a super fine line between a hero and a villain -- it should be that if you flip perspectives and hop into the villain's head, the HERO of the original story or POV looks like the villain from there. Evil for the sake of evil is hard to get right -- Evil because of really high stakes for that character is also difficult but I find it to be more satisfying to read and to write. :>
16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?
HEHE <3 I just stunlocked myself and @archangelsunited with the answer. I have 41 WIPS at the moment. BUT to be fair, I am participating in a prompt challenge or two, and more than half come from prompts and are mostly being collected as a crow might collect shiny things.
It's tough to narrow down a favorite 1 new WIP I'd like to talk about...but I can speak on one that's not related to the main fic's universe, and that's The Bitter, Bitter End.
It came up from some brainstorming sessions on Skywind and ultimately we didn't go in this particular direction because of...oof so many reasons...but I still LOVED the concept and, since I do write fanfic, I can twist it even further.
The quote might sound familiar to other Morrowind Fans. It will be a doomed Morrowind where the incarnate dies, but that's background as to why the world is as bleak as it is in that one. The main focus will be a political snakepit and the narrative will center around two slimy POVS: Nevena Ules and Orvas Dren. Or rather. Nevena/Orvas. It will end with what happens with the fact that Dren has linked up with the 6th house and nobody is around to stop the spiral of destruction. This links up super well with the villain question above. How does one build a story around two villainous POVs? I think it'll be a really fun challenge.

A Bright and Wicked Thing for the wip roundup?
Hello Crow! This is it! This is a Kingmaker fic! Hooray! I don't remember if you followed me for BG3 or something though so sorry if you expected Someone who wasn't the horrible aasimar who rules my heart. But it would be a little funny.
Anyway, I guess you'd call this my Kingmaker longfic. In my mind I just think of it as "the Balthazar fic," and it's something I've fiddled with on and off for ages now. I'm not sure it's even a project I intend for other people to see, but it is one that I'd like to complete one day, whatever completing winds up meaning to me. Just for my own peace of mind. It's what you'd expect- long fic that more or less follows game events and defines the personal canon there. I guess it isn't very interesting to talk about from that perspective, haha. Makes it sound like a reference document! And maybe it is. But it's precious to me despite that, and I'm the audience it's for.
At any rate, it's the story of how the sorcerer Balthazar Lucienne, disgraced ex-socialite and directionless grifter, successfully trips his way from a hastily stolen identity into a royal title through a combination of charm, luck, standing at the very back of fights, and a lot of lying. It's also a painfully long slowburn Tristian romance that is mostly divorced from the canon romance thanks to being in large part plotted before I knew anything about that. In other part, it is thanks to the fact that Balthazar is a CE bastard who starts out despising Tristian and who is not exactly Tristian's favorite person either. So y'know. Takes some time.
At any rate, it's a fun challenge (though a headache of a challenge) to try to filter things through the POV of Balthazar, who is absolutely not the kind od person who is meant to be the hero (or protagonist) of anything. He's non-confrontational and weak, he's constantly lying or speaking in half-truths and insinuations, and there's a huge gap between how he presents himself to the world (charming, sweet, what you expect from an angel on earth) and the absolutely miserable cynicism that characterizes him on the inside. His view of the world (especially early on) is so fucking relentlessly negative- he views others with contempt and despises practically every situation he finds himself in. And I think that's what makes him fun- he's a usurper in someone else's story, a two bit villain who's making a play for the leading role that even he isn't sure he can follow through on.
There's not a lot interesting to say about plot, I guess, since it is still Kingmaker one way or another. But shifting things away from the kinds of straightforward heroic battles that are the main fare of a CRPG and trying to imagine what things look like with a bit more guile at the center (from diplomatic guile to "how can I make other people fight this fight for me") definitely gives it a distinct feeling to me, haha. I'd try to share an excerpt but um. Last Friday my laptop died its final death, so I guess we'll never know if I could overcome the anxiety to do that!
If you ever see me claiming I'm about to do NaNo in any form chances are I'm back to working on some part of this.
