Creating a Cleaning Schedule
Daily Cleaning Tasks
Establish an everyday cleaning schedule that covers things like garbage disposal, surface cleaning, and toilet upkeep. This guarantees that your workstation is consistently spotless and welcoming.

Eco-Friendly Cleaning Practices
Importance of Green Cleaning
Embrace eco-friendly cleaning practices to minimize the environmental impact of your business. Using green cleaning products and techniques can reduce your carbon footprint and promote sustainability.

so far the project is going well in that i have my blueprints, lighting, electrical, the bulk of the plumbing, and most of the elevations and models done, but badly in the sense that i now hate looking at it and think the design and floorplan is terrible.
i made it in the sims because autocad renders are ugly and it looks like a school 😭. the lots aren't big enough to show the landscaping (mostly tall trees for windbreaks and shrubbery nearer to the building for fire walls) but this is generally the shape and size, although the windows couldn't be centered without misrepresenting the size of the building.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
those big windows r supposed to be able to be propped up open for ventilation and lighting alà campers so they'll look cooler when they're open, i'm going to put in flower boxes, and i want to do something funkier with the windbreaks than a fence, but the giant rectangle design is kind of defeating me 😭. i wanted each individual unit to be a rectangle so you can freely assemble them and make a whole complex as needed, but it's so ugly.
there's this one very cool apartment complex in turin, italy, with these sort of support beams shaped like trees, and i wanna copy that, but i don't actually think i NEED support beams of any kind and then it just sort of becomes a carbon copy. maybe the drainage from the roof can be tree shaped? that could actually be kinda cool.
idk it's sort of too late to switch up the floorplan and i AM a 17 year old in a high school engineering class, so nobody is really expecting this to be groundbreaking new concepts for architecture as a whole, just for me to demonstrate that i know how to put together a big project like this, but still. i worked really hard on this and seeing it be so underwhelming is super frustrating. at least the water recycling system is cool.

old playing cards!!
I managed a fic under 1k. Please clap.
DECEMBER 2022
Daniel’s fingers tap on the glass table and leave smudges from the sweat and oils coating them. He pulls the sleeve of his shirt over his hand and tries to wipe away the evidence, but he only succeeds at blurring the fingerprints into a hazy circle.
He curls his fingers into the meat of his palm instead, hidden safely inside the too-long cotton cocoon, and stares blankly down. Through the glass, he can see his knee bouncing up and down, just centimetres from banging into the table and bruising his skin.
He startles when a bowl lands in front of him. It’s that eco-friendly cardboard stuff they’ve switched to in the factory cafe, and it’s stuffed to the brim with some kind of chicken and rice dish. Just the smell of it makes Daniel’s stomach churn, and he pushes it to the edge of the table. He ignores Simon’s admonishing glare and crosses his arms across his ribcage.
“Well?” he asks. He knows the sim session didn’t go well. He could hear it in Simon’s constant feedback. He could feel it in his corner hesitation, slamming the brakes like he could fuck the sim into an actual wall and subsequently bracing for impact.
Simon doesn’t answer. Instead, he pulls something from his pocket and passes it across the table to Daniel.
It takes Daniel a second to register what he’s looking at, and it draws a laugh out of him for the first time that day.
“You still have these?” Daniel asks. He picks up the old deck of cards and pulls them from their package.
It’d been a tradition every race weekend since he’d become Daniel’s engineer for the two of them to play a round of war before every session. Daniel refused to call it a superstition, but it was their thing.
He’d bought this particular deck for Simon as a farewell gift in 2018, a joke packaged in amongst the real gift of the expensive watch that still decorates Simon’s wrist to date. Simon had become temporarily obsessed with the Real Housewives franchise, a secret he told Daniel to take to the grave, and Daniel had custom-made him a deck of cards with the housewives’ faces on it.
The pack has clearly only been opened once, the day he received it, and Daniel delights in shuffling them for the first time. The fresh edges are stiff against his hands.
Simon doesn’t speak until the cards have been dealt.
“When are you headed back to Perth?” he asks conversationally. He’s never been one to speak around the matter at hand. Daniel must have really stunk up the sim, then.
“Tomorrow.”
They each flip their first card. Simon’s eight takes it to Daniel’s three.
“And Max?”
Daniel turns over a queen, but Simon shows a king.
“After the holiday party. Are you really that invested in our winter break plans?”
Simon shrugs, unbothered by the bite in Daniel’s words. “Yes. I think you should spend time with your family, eat lots of Christmas ham, and stop thinking about the sim.”
Daniel finally takes a round.
“Is that your way of saying today was so bad, we can never speak of it again?”
Daniel flips over an ace. Simon rolls his eyes and slaps down an ace with Lisa Vanderpump’s smiling face, and they begin doling out cards for war. “We’ll talk about the data in a bit. I just want to remind you to take it easy, alright? Trust yourself. We both know your talent didn’t disappear. You just have to let yourself breathe a little.”
Daniel bites down on his lip, hoping the sharp edge of his tooth in skin will stop the burn in his eyes. “You almost sound like you care about me,” Daniel teases.
Simon shakes his head, but Daniel can see the bemused glint in his eyes.
“Get fucked,” Simon says solemnly when he wins the war and sweeps the pile into his deck.
They play the rest of the game in peaceful silence.
MARCH 2025
“Ready?” Max asks. His race suit is only half-zipped, allowing Daniel to lewdly admire the way his white fireproofs hug the frame of his body. Max sees Daniel mentally objectifying him and sticks out his chest a little.
“Almost,” Daniel promises. Simon’s only got about two cards left in his pile. He refuses to bring the Real Housewives deck, so they’re using a boring one for now, but Daniel plans on finding a themed deck for every other city this season.
Max collapses into the chair next to Daniel and spins himself in lazy half-circles until Daniel takes Simon’s final card and wins the game.
“Let’s go,” Daniel crows, doing a little fist pump.
“I let you win,” Simon lies, like it’s not a game of chance. Daniel boos him, and Max joins in.
“I didn’t miss you two being teammates,” Simon says, waving his hand between the two of them, which only increases their boos. Simon cracks his neck and stands up from the table. “Are you coming?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Daniel says, collecting the cards neatly back into the little box. Max offers him a hand up and lets his fingers linger on Daniel’s skin for a second too long, gently tracing over the four card suits tattooed over the puckered scar on his left hand. “Let’s do this thing.”

Finding pearls in the mud: Eco-friendly tungsten recovery from semiconductor waste
Semiconductor industry waste is typically seen as a costly disposal problem and an environmental hazard. But what if this waste could be transformed into a valuable resource? In an exciting development, researchers from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) and the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) have unveiled an eco-friendly method to extract rare metals from semiconductor waste. This innovative approach not only recovers precious tungsten but also assesses its economic viability, offering a sustainable solution for waste management in the tech industry. Professor Jeehoon Han from the Department of Chemical Engineering, alongside Ph.D. candidate Yoonjae Lee and alumnus Hyunseo Choi, collaborated with Dr. Soonchun Chung and Dr. Joonsong Park from SAIT to pioneer an environmentally friendly and cost-effective process for tungsten recovery. Their research was featured as a supplementary cover in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering.

i cant believe op of the air conditioning post is just doubling down in the notes like my gd get a fucking clue
gd forbid someone have to consider that they didn't know all the facts of a particular issue prior to posting about it
like, yes, colonialism is a huge factor here, and large parts of the world don't have AC... and you'll note... many more people are dying of heat stroke! like, maybe the solution isn't getting rid of AC, it's making AC even more eco friendly
(like imagine AC that ran on solar power. that would be awesome and it would be a convenient way to monitor the AC usage! That's just one example)
and gd damn, it's amazing how quick supposed "activists" just resort to outright ableism whenever its convenient. but as long as the disabled people are annoying americans I guess it doesn't matter, right? >_>

@sapphireshineauthor 's latest post got me thinking some more about hamefura in a Modern high school AU, with no doom flags to worry about. They'd be so much fun in that setting and this is what I think their personalities would be like.
Katarina would definitely be our sustainability queen, growing local gardens, supporting local farmers, all about that eco-friendly life basically and reducing her and everyone around her's carbon footprint. Like my girl would be posting about the benefits all over social media so hard, becoming everyone's environmental icon.
And Alan has to have a band. Like I love the classical music, but Alan in a punk rock phase while his brothers yell at him to lower the volume would be the funniest thing. Then he'd make up a rhythm on the spot and be offered a deal with 15 record companies before they realize he's the next Mozart.
Geordo, our super put together simp is basically the same without the fiance card. rip him
Sophia would have one of those book toks with several million followers because she'd be the one finding books nobody else has ever heard of that scratches the itch without being a similar plot with new characters. Everyone wants to know how she does it, but it's her special secret.
i want Mary to be a fashionista, a real trend setter, but like she's not even trying to do that. she's just bringing in her flowers and trying to show Katarina how nice she looks, and then she'll turn around to see half the school has copied her look.
Maria just aces home ec to the point where the teachers just give her an A+ and make her their TA. she teaches everyone all the basic life skills, that most people have forgotten at this point (no im not projecting bc i wanna learn this stuff. totally not) She'd also be the STEM nerd of the bunch
Nicol is on debate team. he's a passive boy so everyone forced him to join a club where he has to argue. he's thriving there
Keith. I want Keith to accidentally fall into a modeling gig, because he'd make such a good poster boy and he's so nice he can't say no. He's constantly hiding from his fangirls too

It was confirmed that the eco-friendly quantum dot photonic sensor developed through joint research with Professor Moon-kee Choi's research team at the Department of New Materials Engineering, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and Professor Dae-hyeong Kim's research team at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Seoul National University (President Hong-lim Ryu) can stably measure light signals without any external power source, due to the photovoltaic effect. The joint research team has also produced a skin-attachable ultra-thin pulse sensor based on this photosensor, and introduced the wearable pulse sensor that can stably acquire pulse signals despite different deformations. The work is published in the journal ACS Nano.

Get To Know Me Tag Game!
Thanks to @mythical-bookworm and @alex-a-fans for tagging me.
tbh this is just a song rec list LMAO [easier to open in a browser fyi]
1) Spell your name in songs
Y'all get two for the price of one cuz I couldn't decide if I wanted to go with all non-English songs or not.
The non-English songs are labeled with 🧋 in case you wanna avoid 🤪
Warning: Most of the songs in english have swear words so... just in case u got kids or ur strict parents around LMAO.
⚡️ F: Fighter Not a Lover
aro/ace people gonna love that shit ^ + no swear words
alt: fml u fucked me up
⚡️ U: URARA🧋
It translates to 'Oo-la-la', which I now realize is the magazine Biff was carrying around in the second movie... this was unintentional and the meaning of the song is very wholesome, trust me
alt: Upside Down
⚡️ T: this was a demo for this one song...
That one's like 50% f-bombs ^ i love it
alt: Toxic but its NOT Brittany, B*tch 💅
The most aggressive entry on this list
⚡️ U: Up Up and Away
The only f-bomb is in the second verse
alt: Unmei no Roulette Mawashite 🧋
'unmei' means 'destiny' so you know I had to include it
⚡️ R: Raining in Manila (half 🧋)
Couple of dudes just vibin' out in the studio, what's not to love?
alt: RAHHHH
^im convinced this is what suburbanites see in their nightmares
⚡️ E: Electricity (half 🧋)
alt: Extensyon
Both make up the most WHOLESOME entry in this
⚡️ -(hyphen): Hatid Sundo 🧋
Baby. Baby boi. Baby. vibes ^
alt: Hell to Sell
EVIL. vibes ^
🚫🧢 I have a problem with tonal whiplash. Did I cheat and use the hyphen to include the most wholesome and cute song right before pulling out the lowkey most scandalous song in the list? YES.
Just realized it doesn't work as well if you can't understand it, but trust me. I mean just listening to its vibes is enough 😩
⚡️ B: Balik Sa Umpisa 🧋
Any song that samples/remixes 'Stand By Me' is a W in my book.
alt: Bodybag
I'm just self-reporting at this point.
Ok the rest are very wholesome songs I swear
⚡️ O: Oretachi Rookies 🧋
alt: Oh, Imagine That
ok this one's tied for most wholesome in the list
⚡️ I: I/Me/Myself
gnc/nb people gonna love this shit ^
alt: I Really Like You
that was a struggle, R is the top pick to check out imo. E, O and I are the wholesome ones with no swear words if u care.
2) Why did you choose your URL?
Its based. ..off the song in the musical. I got back into the fandom because of the musical so I owe it that much. 'boi' sounds more gender-neutral than 'boy'
3) What is your middle name?
That's a secret!
4) If you could be any mythical creature, what would you be?
Shapeshifter.
5) Favorite color?
Purple. Lavender/Periwinkle specifically.
6) Song you love right now?
What? 🧋 The amount of crackhead energy, but genuine emotion... AND AESTHETIC. it was literally made for me LMAO Ken is so aggro but hes singing about not littering. like why is he so intimidating-- but i support the eco-friendly king. but fr the song is about waving ur flag with pride??? PRIDE???? and they look androgynous asf??? whats not to love
7) Top four fandoms? (Current Fandoms?)
Back to the Future
That's it

Thats it, dont wanna get into past fandoms rn

Guilty Conscience #11
[Masterlist: Renegade Rescue Squad] [Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] [Part 4] [Part 5] [Part 6] [Part 7] [Part 8] [Part 9] [Part 10]
Synopsis: Henchman and Harper take care of Villain and the little hero. The group finally leaves Other Villain's lair.
tw: blood
“Hey there, kiddo,” Henchman cooed, deep voice as soft as he could make it, and crouched down to inspect the hero’s injured leg. “Aw, you poor baby, that must be painful. Mind if I take a closer look? I promise I’ll be extra careful.”
The little hero shot Henchman their darkest scowl yet – how dare anyone have the audacity to call them a ‘baby’? – and straightened their back.
“Don’t patronise me.” Despite their endearing stubbornness, the expression on their face strongly suggested they’d rather curl up in a corner and have a good cry than pick this fight. “I’m fine. Other Villain hardly did anything. I’ve had worse.”
What a gruesome thought. Even among Supers – a demographic notorious for getting involved with violent crime – no one this young (or anyone really) should ever see the inside of Other Villain’s torture dungeon, receive a beating, then witness a murder, and still be able to confidently declare they’d been through worse.
And yet, that gritty tenacity the hero had shown…
Harper tsked. “Kid’s got a point. They aren’t bleeding too bad” – her sharp gaze fixed on him, on the stain on his shirt – “and neither are you. So? That Other Villain’s blood? Where is that maladjusted waste of organic matter and breathable air?”
The little hero huffed a surprised laugh.
He merely cringed.
Other Villain’s absence had to come up sooner or later. Harper noticed such things. Whether it was an addition or omission of subtle details in a report, something small and half-hidden in the periphery of her vision, or a tactical bypassing of conversation topics – somehow, she knew. It was uncanny.
That intuition was part of what made her an asset. His entire operation wouldn’t have made it far without her. For what was a villainous ambulance service without its unrivalled getaway driver, and Harper was the best. (He was convinced she’d still be the best if her intuition were the only ace up her sleeve.)
He adored her.
He’d still rather not address the issue that was Other Villain… but he pointed at the door to the stairwell anyway; and of course, when Harper went looking, Henchman followed suit.
Half of him wanted to accompany them. The other half would have loved to make a run for it.
His trembling legs refused to budge either way, so he sat down. He couldn’t stand any longer, his head was swimming and his throat was locked so tight he couldn’t get a proper breath down his airways and Henchman would never look at him the same again because he was a fucking murderer now and he was so cold without his jacket and why was he spiralling now when he should be over this already and tears were pooling in his eyes again and—
The hero gave him a gentle nudge. “Hey, your friend’s coming back.”
He looked up, dazed, to find Henchman walking over, casually unzipping and shrugging off his fleece-lined, between-seasons hoodie jacket. Without a word about murders or death or Other Villain, Henchman kneeled down in front of him, helped him out of his blood-soaked shirt, and smiled.
“Hey love, it’s all right. We can talk about this whenever you’re ready. Just breath, slow and steady. You’re okay. I’ve got you.”
The thick, plushy fabric of Henchman’s jacket (about three sizes too big for him) settled warm and heavy around his bare shoulders, wrapping him up in a comforting bubble of residual body heat and the smells of home: Bax’s beloved incense sticks, the eco-friendly laundry detergent Thief insisted they should all use, the smoke of Doc’s favourite brand of cigarettes, Henchman’s perfume with its smoky vanilla note, and the faintest whiff of sweat.
He fiddled his arms through the sleeves and allowed Henchman to zip up the jacket for him. Then he buried his face in the collar and inhaled deeply. The scent washed over him like the promise of forgiveness. For the first time in hours, he didn’t smell blood.
Henchman shrugged apologetically. “Been wearing that for a few days. Hope it’s not too smelly...”
“No,” he mumbled, “I like it. Thanks.”
The last remnants of his composure slipped from his grasp then, and once the tears had started falling, they kept coming.
Henchman scooted closer and put an arm around him. His head came to rest against Henchman’s shoulder and Henchman’s free hand ruffled his hair, affectionate and protective. The two of them remained in that position until he managed to calm down and was no longer sobbing and babbling half-coherent explanations and apologies.
He didn’t give a damn what Harper would think. And he almost didn’t care that the hero had witnessed half of his meltdown, until Harper had returned and had had the good sense to fetch the wheelchair from the van and cart the kid away, all the while muttering something about this not being what she’d signed up for when she’d joined the crew.
But when he and Henchman finally caught up with Harper and the hero, she was in the middle of entertaining the kid, flaunting her abilities for them by giving the van an illusionary makeover.
The plain white of the van’s exterior morphed into a complex design: navy blue swirling like smoke against a background of anthracite, adorned with ivy tendrils the colour of rose gold, softly bobbing as if stirred by a breeze. As he opened the sliding door, the ivy twined and curled to adjust its pattern around the empty space.
The hero watched the show, mesmerized. After receiving a large glass of juice and a few painkillers, their initial reluctance had begun to fade and was gradually replaced by a livelier attitude. They then spent the better half of the drive back to base asking questions: What was that button for? Why where there so many valves? Where were the cables coming from? Did the self-built ambulance have all the equipment a normal ambulance had? How many people had the team treated? Did they have doctors and a clinic for their patients?
Under the guise of showing the hero the equipment, he and Henchman even got to check the hero’s pulse, blood pressure, blood oxygen and blood sugar levels, and breathing. Afterwards, he allowed the kid to perform the same examinations on him.
“Your car is so cool,” the hero said. They’d taken off his mask.
With their face finally freed from blood and their scratches and abrasions sanitised and bandaged, that small smile tugging on the hero’s lips looked less like a nervous coping mechanism and more like the tentative beginnings of genuine optimism.

I've Got Friends on the Other Side
For the Prompt: Reverse TRIO Danny as a magic occult goth - got into sleight-of-hand to spite his parents when they used to spout that ghosts were real but magic was bullshit. He started with card tricks and snowballed into becoming proficient in several types of true occult magic, as well as all the basic party trick stuff. He now uses tarot cards rather than playing cards, both to freak out the 'normies' and scare off the bullies, but also because the cards tend to tell him things in a roundabout way. What did the cards just tell him about Tucker? (from @deathcomes4u)
AO3 Link
[Warnings for occult practices]
Danny Fenton had never really fit in. It didn't help that his parents called themselves ghost hunters and drove around causing mayhem in their souped up RV. When he was little, Danny had thought that his parents work was fascinating, but apparently he hadn't been interested in ghosts "the right way" because he didn't care about their scientific mumbo jumbo. Instead, Danny had gone to the library and checked out books on the occult.
When his parents derisively told him that magic wasn't real, he'd been furious. How could they say that to him when they'd devoted their entire adult lives to the study of ghosts? A less spiteful kid might've felt disheartened and given up their interest, but Danny doubled down. He taught himself sleight-of-hand tricks, as well as more spiritual forms of occult magic.
In middle school, he'd switched from playing cards to tarot cards, both to freak out the normies and scare off the bullies, and learned to read the cards pretty damn well, if you asked him. He'd started to dress in black, to wear crystals and other jewelry, to trudge around in heavy, buckled combat boots. He developed a reputation as the school's freaky goth kid, and that suited him just fine. His only two friends, the only two people outside of his family who were brave enough to come near him, were a passionate ecology nerd and the tech-obsessed school loser, and that suited him fine too.
Sam and Tucker were far from the most popular kids in school, which made Danny somewhat protective of them. He did regular tarot readings for them, at least once a week, when he was alone in his room, to keep tabs on what was going on in their lives, especially things they wouldn't necessarily tell him about.
Danny lit a black candle on his bedside table and shuffled his tarot deck three times, one for each letter of Sam's name. He manipulated the deck to bring the Empress, the card which represented Sam, to the top, but it was an honest shuffle aside from that. One by one, he laid out the cards on his comforter in a Celtic Cross layout, to tell him what his friend was struggling with. The Empress laid upright in the middle, the nurturer, the one who cared and helped, just like Sam cared so much about animals and the environment and did everything in her power to protect them.
Seven of cups—Sam was dealing with temptation of some kind. Six of wands, six of cups, Death, ace of cups. She'd had some kind of victory, and been happy about it, until she realized that it would come at a sacrifice, and she changed her mind. Reversed seven of wands, ace of pentacles, reversed queen of wands, Justice. There was some kind of time limit, and she couldn't make up her mind. Ultimately she would settle on accepting the temptation, and that would be the right choice, even if it wasn't without consequence.
Considering the reading, Danny tried to decipher a deeper, or more specific meaning. A victory for Sam would be convincing her parents to donate more money to animal rights groups and eco-friendly causes. If Danny were to guess, he would say that her parents had offered her a deal. They'd donate to her charities, but only if she did something for them, possibly something that was against her principals, or possibly something she just didn't want to do.
Next time he saw her, Danny would advise her to take the deal. Supporting vital causes to save the Earth would be worth whatever he parents wanted in return.
Satisfied, Danny made a note in his journal about the reading, returned the cards to his deck and shuffled again. Six times, he shuffled, once for each letter of Tucker's name, and he brought the king of pentacles to the top. His hands grew painfully cold as he did so. The candle on his beside flickered as if blown by a strong wind, but his window was closed. Whatever was bothering Tucker must be drastic to have such an effect while he shuffled.
Once more, Danny laid the cards in a Celtic Cross on his bed. Tucker's card, the king of pentacles represented intellectual prominence and ambition, both things that Tucker had in spades. The next card Danny laid down was the Wheel of Fortune, which told Danny that something pretty wild must have happened in Tucker's life, something filled with uncertainty, risk, and shock. Something Tucker definitely would've mentioned to him, but he hadn't for some reason. Danny's confusion doubled when he flipped the next card. The Magician, reversed.
The Magician was the card that represented Danny, it represented superstition and skepticism, unconventional methods, and magic. Different tarot readers read reversed cards various ways. Some believed that a reversed card indicated that the meaning of the card was also reversed, other believed that it indicated a delay, an increase or decrease in energy, or that whatever the card indicated was internal, rather than external, or vice-versa.
Danny used a more free-form style, judging the meaning of a reverse card on a case-by-case basis. However, in his experience, an upright Magician represented himself, and a reversed Magician represented his family. Whatever Tucker's problem was, Danny's family had something to do with it.
Danny's fingers physically ached from the cold so much that he dropped the next card. Death landed, reversed, in the next position on the cross. The position indicated the recent past. Death was a card that Danny rarely had to take literally, since it normally represented a different kind of loss or sacrifice, but the reversed position in this atmosphere clearly indicated an increased energy, so he could only assume that someone really had died, and Danny's parents had something to do with it. Or perhaps... could it have something to do with a ghost, his parents' work?
Danny swallowed and flipped the next cards, the two of swords and Judgement completed the cross. Tucker was at a crossroads and faced with a decision he couldn't make, or a decision he didn't know how to make, or a decision that would make itself if he didn't choose soon enough. Perhaps it was out of his hands, and Tucker was just being dragged along for the ride.
Reversed page of swords, ace of pentacles, The Tower, The Chariot. Whatever Tucker's problem was, it was something his friends could help him with, but he wasn't going to them because he was overthinking, probably panicking, possibly even afraid. The Tower was never good, and especially not in the position that represented the subject of the reading's fears. It represented failure, destruction, danger.
Tucker must've really been going through it, but the Chariot, at least, indicated a happy ending. It was triumph, victory over adversity. Everything would turn out okay, but Tucker had to make it through the trenches first.
Once all the cards were down, Danny tried to glean some more specifics from the reading, but it was foggy, as if it was shrouded in a mourning veil.
On Friday, after school, Tucker had been supposed to meet Danny at Fenton Works. Danny had to help a teacher with something, so he told his friend to go on ahead. He'd expected Tucker to be there already when he got home, but he didn't show. Was that because of this... issue that Tucker was apparently dealing with? Danny sighed in frustration and blew out his candle, watching the smoke curl up into the air in agitated spirals.
Tucker had some serious spiritual unrest going on, and Danny was just gonna have to ask him about it directly.
When Danny got to school, Tucker was nowhere to be seen. Sam was waiting for him by the steps, though, so he figured he'd talk to her first.
"So what kind of deal did your parents offer you?" he asked her. "What do they want in exchange for funding your environmental causes."
"Did... did I tell you about that?" she asked, more to herself than to Danny. "How do you know about that?"
"What did they ask for?" he asked again, ignoring her question. She should've been used to this kind of thing by now. It wasn't his fault he kept surprising her.
"They want to parade me around at upscale galas and crap," she said. "In formal wear. To schmooze pretentious investors and CEOs of companies that pollute the Earth more in a day than the average person does in ten years. But they said as long as I do, they'll give me a monthly donation allowance of five thousand dollars, which is pocket change for them, but it can do a lot of good in the right hands."
"You should do it," Danny advised. "It won't be fun or anything, but ultimately the rewards a worth wearing a gown, don't you think?" Sam sighed.
"You're right," she said. "I think I was always going to accept in the end, but... I guess I just needed someone else to say it. So thanks."
"You're welcome," he said, offering her a rare smile. "Good luck with the galas and crap." She snorted, and shook her head.
"I can't believe I'm gonna agree to this."
"Hey, have you seen Tucker around anywhere?" he asked her.
"I haven't," she said. "Come to think of it, I didn't see him all weekend, either."
"Well if you see him, let me know. We really need to talk to him."
"We?"
"Yeah. I'm pretty sure he needs both of us right now."
Tucker came to school right as the first bell rang, so there wasn't time to talk, but Danny and Sam conspired to corner him during lunch, and corner him they did. The three of them were alone behind the cafeteria, so they could speak freely.
"What happened last Friday after school?" Danny demanded. "Did someone die? Did it have something to do with my parents and ghosts?" Sam looked at him, aghast, and Tucker just shook his head resolutely.
"How do you do that?" he asked under his breath.
"We can help you," Danny said. "So stop overthinking, and freaking out, and just talk to us, alright?"
"Wait, what?" Sam asked, utterly lost. "Who died? What's going on?"
"I did," Tucker said quietly after a moment. "I went to your place to meet up with you, like we planned, but you were late. I got bored, and I heard you parents complaining about an experiment of theirs not working, a portal, so I went down to the lab to check it out."
"The portal works, though," Danny recalled. His parents had been over the moon.
"It didn't at first. I went inside it, and touched something, I don't know what," Tucker said. "It turned on while I was inside and... you can't imagine how painful it was. When I came out, the portal was on, and I looked like..." A fizzling white light rolled across Tucker's body like his skin was dissolving into glow-stick fluid right before their eyes. "This."
When the light faded, Tucker stood before them in a white jumpsuit. It looked like one of Danny's black Fenton Jumpsuits with the colors inverted. His normally dark hair was also white, as were the frames of his glasses. His freckles, usually invisible against his dark skin unless you looked really closely, glowed faintly, and his eyes were a luminous green, like the flame of a copper sulfate candle.
"You died," Danny said, finally understanding everything. "You're half ghost now." He gasped in realization. "The two of swords! The crossroads! You were cut in two; you live two lives, oh, duh!"
"What?" Tucker asked, while Sam just looked between the two of them in shock.
"Don't worry Tucker," Danny said. "I know this is stressful, and your struggling, and probably contemplating your own mortality, but in the long term, everything will be alright. This will eventually turn out to be a good thing, I promise."
"Uh... I can't make promises like that," Sam said, her brain catching up to the situation enough to finally speak up. "But I can promise that Danny and I will be there for you. We'll help you in any way we can."
"Absolutely," Danny agreed.
"You guys!" Luminous tears trickled from Tucker's eyes, and he sniffed once before pulling both his friends into a tight hug. "I can't believe I even thought of keeping this a secret from you. You guys are the best!"
"Yeah yeah," Danny grumbled. "We know. You can let me go now."
"Sorry." Tucker quickly released Danny from the hug and let the goth boy adjust his fishnet sleeves. "I forgot you don't like hugs."
"I guess I can forgive you," Danny said lightly. "Just this once."
