THE LIMINAL SPACE SERIES…

… is a series of 5 interconnecting stories + 1 story in the same universe but completely separate from the main storyline. what they all have in common is they center on death, Reapers, Witches, magic, possession, and horror, but above all liminal spaces.

Liminal Spaces are defined as the place a person is in during a transitional period. this can be emotionally, physically, metaphysically or all of the above. in this series liminal spaces are more akin to separate planes of existence where death and horror reign supreme and magic is in the air. nothing is impossible and your worst nightmares usually come true.

if this sounds like your cup of tea, keep reading as i’ll give a synopsis and general details/warnings for all of the books in the series:

DONUT WIP (real title a secret, shh)

I woke up to a shriek so horrible that it shook me out of my slumber, my dreams, and almost half way out of my skin.

After deciding against going home for the holiday season, Julissa Vaughn decides she’ll be spending her winter break at her dorm; on an undisclosed college campus on the East Coast. She plans to spend her time with her best friend Andres Seymour, ogling her crush, the R.A. Joaquin Kelley, maybe making a few new friends in René Edwards, Daisy Kennedy, and Saul Carson—others who decided to stay the winter as well. Most importantly however, Juls plans to sleep and finally compose some music after one hell of a draining semester. Unfortunately, all of these plans are thrown bodily out of the window when mysterious and unexplained happenings rock the six of them to their core. With an incoming blizzard, and no answers, it’s as though they’re locked in their own personal hell(s).

A plan was beginning to brew in their mind, one that they unfortunately wouldn’t be able to do on their own. They’d need help, at least two others… ladders… a lock pick...

Noi Randiche, in their final year of their journalism major, has been stuck on what story they should cover for their thesis. That is, until they return back to school to a tight lipped staff, an entire dorm building shut down with no entry—no exceptions, and a crisis that seemed to happen over winter break that no one wants to talk about. Inspiration strikes, and Noi vows to get to the bottom of it; supported by their best friend Likitha Singh, and newcomer Seph Sparrow. It’s just… what Noi uncovers, is far more sinister than they could have ever imagined. Coupled with being stalked by an eerie presence that they cannot explain, things will get worse… but the likelihood they will get better is far off.

JENNA THE REAPER (pt. 1 & 2)

Vision-Jenna held out her hand, palm opened and outstretched. Black matter began to gather in her hands, taking shape and materializing into the form of a scythe.

“Through her I purge all things.” The second voice said through Jenna alone. “You cannot save.”

Jenna Magboo spends much of her time with her best friend Carlos Carvalho documenting and looking for the supernatural creatures and happenings around their small hometown of Braebrooke. While happenings are scarce and usually benign, Jenna’s fascination with the supernatural world is only understandable; after all she is the daughter of two powerful witches, Adunni and Kashmira. However, after coming upon a vengeful basilisk, the supernatural occurrences around them take a turn for the horrifying, for the deadly. And despite all common sense (Carlos), Jenna is determined to get to the bottom of it.

What she doesn’t realize is that a Reaper’s spirit is manifesting high in the mountains of Braebrooke’s backyard, looking for a suitable host and unfortunately Jenna fits the bill; a prophecy Kashmira was praying wouldn’t come true. But when the Reaper strips away Jenna’s connection to her senses and occupies her body… there’s a problem. A catch, if you will. It hadn’t been able to fully annihilate Jenna’s sense of self, and now the two share a body. And Jenna only has one year to figure out how to separate Yehna and herself, or else Yehna will become powerful enough to swallow her spirit for good.

Several years after Jenna and Yehna are separated, Jenna decides it’s finally time to leave the nest and to embark on her own journey to become a full-fledged witch. In order to do that, she must hunt down the elusive Witch King—Creator of Witches. It is a journey all witches who wish to have their powers manifested must take. The first test is to find them. The second test to prove their prowess is decided upon by the Witch King themself. With Carlos in tow, she sets off to become just like her mothers… oh and to make sure Carlos gains extended life as her familiar, of course.

MASON AT THE AIRPORT (the +1)

Airports are notoriously hectic, but this airport seemed surprisingly quiet after Mason wakes up from a short nap between layover flights. In fact, between himself, and a few others who also seemed to have fallen asleep, there doesn’t seem to be anyone else there. Curious about when he’ll next be able to depart and where everyone has gone, this small group makes their way around looking for help. But things quickly go awry.

POV: third person limited ; following Mason

Forced my boy to watch the watchmen movie with me (so he could get what I was yelling about on my private instagram story, I was mansplaining the whole time and we watched the directors cut), so here are my thoughts:

It was relatively faithful (not that that's a measure of how good something is), and overall criticisms I can think of have already been made (fight choreography, Zack kinda missing the point) and for a goofy little time its pretty enjoyable :3

I think that they messed up Dan's character, he was made too confident... (I love his extremely passive/gentle demeanor and speech patterns so much so much and they took that away from him... growls...) and also how his relationship with Laurie was handled

I really didn't like how they had Dan immediately come onto her in the dinner scene (like im looking at the book rn and I'm failing to see romantic subtext there, though I am like really bad at seeing that kinda stuff so it could be user error?) they just feel really underbaked in the movie, kinda gives me "oh they're boy and girl they kiss now" energy, where in the book they have a lot more time to develop (also like Dan also knew her since she was 16 iirc so having her take most of the initiative makes it feel way less predatory... and I wanna clarify I think Laurie and Dan are great for each other and he treats her so well after they're established)

Not to mention the pool scene! That scene was so fucking deep and tender etc. I CRODE and there was really nothing comparable in the movie (ALSO WHY DID THEY HAVE JON KISS HER OH MY GOD)

I also personally fucking HATED how the Roche scene was handled but I guess burning a dude alive was too much /opinionated because I can see how it kinda makes sense like killing him the same way he killed his dogs or whatever and its a relatively easy way to go...

But god in the comic where he's just standing and waiting is so powerful, also like really fucked up because the guy didn't even outright confess (which its like were certain its him but theres that <1% chance it was wrong guy wrong place wrong time to be thought about) also being burnt to death is accepted to be one of the most painful ways to die and to put salt in the wound giving him the saw even though both of them knew he wouldn't get out... it just makes him feel super Fucked Up And Evil which makes sense! That scene is one of the very rare cases in fiction where I get the same gut response as I get when hearing about real fucked up murders

those were my main issues tbh I really liked how they did Rorschach's mask also his waist being so snatched under the trench coat was driving me crazy... loved his casting esp because im also a short freak, there needs to be more of us

Good things about Dan though he still is sweet and gentle despite not being as much as I wished he was... like when he fixed Rorschach's collar and just little things like that... and despite my grievances with how his relationship was handled with Laurie it wasn't fucked up TOO bad...

Uhh lets see, casting JDM as Edward actual genius

purging a bunch of stuff from my drive... gosh there are still a lot of things i want to write but it's hard to tell what's there when some of my file names are "gh384t90g8h" or "2" as i look through the drive i will put in this readmore any cool ideas i come across (mostly ff some fe and gbf and will sort them by fandom if ur into it)

please know i am deleting all of these drafts as i go along so if you want me to post snippets of what i have tell me in like 3 days before they are permanently deleted

fic titled "virgin in the dynamo" where i make vigorous reference to henry adams in my ff2 emperor redemption fic... well ok then!

doc called "BACK ON MY BULLSHIT" is an isekai for ff2. i've written a few of those but i haven't liked how any of them have turned out. idea for another day

more emperor fics; i have some where y/n gets fired as a servant, some reverse isekai drafts, and i have about a good long chunk of drafting for another vampire au where (spoiler alert) the emperor is not a nice guy and murders a bunch of people in the first chapter. the drafts are still there but i just don't know where to take the fic in the last stretch.

another emperor fic but this time it's an arranged marriage au (y/n is a noble of altair and i take the book canon and shake it vigorously)

edward chris von muir reverse isekai - i remember writing this. some really bad irl stuff happened and edward was the character i wrote a fuckton of to cheer me up. i'd still like to write it properly. in another fic i wrote an arranged marriage au and i still think i could write it and it'd be fun

doc titled "k"; rewrite of an old fic with zidane & kuja with the in veno veritas vibes... i'd like to post it but it's not done so it won't get posted

i write a 210 fic in firion's pov where tidus gets lost and firion comes to help him. hehe!

more tidus ideas; one of them was where y/n was a nurse taking care of tidus, another idea that i still might write where y/n is a total stalker of tidus and makes him love them... i still want to write that.

more kurth ideas; i wrote a dreamsharing fic with him as well as a timeloop? i could have SWORN i published the timeloop fic but i don't think i did. i got 4k words into the draft. whatever, down the trash it goes!

doc titled "UNKIE JANNIE" where janaff takes care of a wounded shinon...

i've written a janaff/reader and a janaff/reader/ulki but not an ulki/reader. none of the ideas i have have been any good though and i still feel like they're not cute enough.

"the ranch fic" where shinon fucks a bottle of ranch. nsfw but an ex-friend did it out of curiosity and then he told me not to tell anyone but then he aired my dirty laundry so i air his dirty laundry back.

more in lewd news for shinon/janaff i tried to write a motivation chapter 2 but i never could decide on what shinon was going to do. i had a couple ideas, like shinon and janaff meeting up and fucking or continuing their parasocial relationship. in my latest drafts of it shinon was going to doxx janaff and say the most egregious sort of stuff before going back to his NEET ways (now without a purpose because janaff would be disinterested) but i couldn't make it as sexy as the first chapter so i just didn't finish it

nordion vampireverse multichap fic titled "diarmuid chomps" where it's not actually about diarmuid at all and febail gets really sexy and saves y/n from the evil vampires... i wrote that fic twice but neither are any good. idea for another time

speaking about nordion vamps, doc titled "sex sex sex sex sex sex" where the vamps get down and dirty with y/n. OTL i want to post it but it's incompleted as FUCK so it won't see the light of day ever

kempf mermaid au i would have posted for mermay if i knew how to write it. but every draft i did just wasn't right and i think fe is too technologically historic(?) for what i want to happen so i might write it with some other fandom instead

I’ve lost control of my life it is now 2:30am

(Chris watches Twilight Eclipse for the first time)

Okay fuck it it’s 12:30 am let’s start the annoying love triangle one (I’m guessing)

All I know about anything for the rest of the franchise is bella and Edward will be married and she’ll become a vampire either before or after that and also they will have a creepy baby but I think all that happens in the last book so NO guesses for this movie

At least the budget and therefore quality seem to be getting bigger/better each time

So for those who dont know Criterion has doublefeatures on their streaming service,and I decided to watch one called Cheap Tricks ,which was two B movies made by producer Jack Harris .The first film was the Blob ,which is a classic that I have seen multiple times ....The second film,the one I hsall talk about is a strange little flick called Equinox

the plot of this 1970 film follows David (Edward Connell),Jim (Frank Bonner ) ,Susan (Barbara Hewitt),and Vicki (Robin Christopher) as they go for a picnic/meet up with Dr. Arthur Watermann (Fritz Lieber ) ,only to stumble upon an ancient book which they must keep out of the hands of Asmodeus (Jack Woods ) and his various demonic monsters

Now I will always have a soft spot for "Hey lets make our own movie " movies ,truly independent films appeal to me (I love the Blob for similar reasons ).The film actually reminds a LOT of Evil Dead which would be made a decade later ,not only due to the similar plot of a group of friends coming across a ancient book and being terroized by demonic forces,but in the group of amatures making a film feel.I also want to point out some of the people in this wnent on to bigger things like how Frank Bonner went onto appear in the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati , David Allen went onto a lot of TV and Movie stop motion work (Dolls,Puppet Master ,The Howling ,Q the Winged Serpent ,etc ),and the film was the brain child of Denis Murin who went on to help found ILM ,and work on the likes of Star Wars and Jurassic Park . I think the effects scenes are great particularly all the stop motion,and the force perspective battle with the green giant .I like the main characters ,and though the acting can be stiff,thought most of them were pretty good

Now I wont lie ....It has goofy moments ,and most of them are courtesy of Jack Woods .See Denis Murin made the movie but when Jack Harris got ahold of it he wanted to add a few more scenes ,which were directed by Jack Woods ,who also play an added villain Asmodeous .....PRoblem is Woods isnt a great actor ,cause whenever he tries to be scary I am laughing,he's just really non threatening looking .In fact the film is more silly then scary .Also dont like the framing device

So yes it is not a perfect movie and I dont love it ....But I was never bored , its a fun watch,and I have nothing but respect for the people who made it.I feel like Ash describing the Xenomorph in Alien,"I admire its purity ".Making art is hard,and I admire this film for just existing

it took some convincing on your part, and carlisle still has some distaste for it, but he lets you copy his history homework. carlisle doesn’t object too much considering jasper hates his science classes and you end up doing a lot of that work for him, so it keeps jasper out of unnecessary attention

his family finds it funny that he goes back to school shopping with you. he lets you pick him out colorful notebooks and nice pens that he’s absolutely never going to use. they pile up in the corner of his room.

sometimes you’re able to convince him to take you into the woods and read to you while you eat lunch

he isn’t afraid to to drag you out of the school and into the backseat of his car

holds all the doors open for you:)

like edward, he wants you to fully experience life as a human, so he asks you to every dance with flowers. if you don’t want to go, he plans something more private for the two of you, like a fancy dinner or sometimes just a night in at his house

he doesn’t take his own notes, but he likes watching you take yours, and if the teacher goes too fast he’ll catch you up. your notes are a little jumble of two handwritings now

told you something not very well known about the war and laughed at your confusion when the teacher taught it wrong

he takes you to and from school. he knocks on your door, says hello to your parents if they’re there, and carries your books out to the car. kisses you sweetly and opens the door for you. offers to get you some coffee if you seem extra tired and makes sure you’ve eaten breakfast. if you haven’t, he definitely takes you back to his house, and he and esme will make you something to eat

the teachers all think he has some sort of anxiety disorder and you find it a little amusing, considering how cocky he is literally anywhere outside of class

outside of school

he had a rough upbringing, so he (and the rest of his family) are very grateful that he finally gets to experience being a teenager with you

takes you to bookstores late at night (i hc that he loves to read)

purposefully messes up his outfit so you will pull him to the side and help him fix it

climbs through your window late at night with a goofy grin, pins you down and kisses you like his life depends on it

he is definitely seen a lot more around town now that you two are together. most of the time it’s with you, but he’s started to develop a small friendship with the old florist that he frequents

i think jasper does really well in most family situations, especially if you’re siblings are all like 12+ and less rowdy. parents like him because he’s polite, and he knows how to entertain people in conversation

you’re obsessed with how his hair looks half up (think eren yeager bun). he doesn’t get it, but he lets you put it up when it’s just the two of you

jasper is absolutely not afraid to show PDA in front of his family. nothing too crazy, but he will whisper sweet things (that they obviously can hear. vampires. duh 🙄) to you, keep his hand on your back, kiss your temple, slip in some cheeky joke that has someone slapping the back of his head. no one teased him for affection though, they know how long he’s waited, and they know firsthand how deep your bond is

indulges in your silly teenage antics. he makes sure you’re safe when you decide to climb on the roof, takes you out to eat diner food late at night, takes you wading in creeks and shows you some pretty damn old rocks, leaves you simple love notes that make your hormone crazy heart swoon

A/N: Shout out to @ideas-for-you-to-adopt for inspiring/writing a lot of the headcanons used for the “Bella Suspicion” part of this chapter!

I’m posting this a day early, because, well I’m flakey like that

* You spear another piece of pineapple, your teeth grinding together

* “I think that sounds perfect!” Lauren squeals lightly grasping Bella’s shoulder, Bella gives a small smile in return.

* You know what isn’t perfect?

* The fact that nothing is going according to plan.

* It’s already a month in and NOTHING has happened. You stab another piece of pineapple, sticking it into your mouth

* You’ve hung back in the school parking lot everyday for a MONTH, you were even late to cheer practice once, just to see if the “Tyler Van Accident” happened.

* Only it never did, and you didn’t know why until Lauren confided that she and Tyler had been hooking up lately.

* As in hooking up at her house after school before her parents came home.

* Of course it’s not going to happen when Tyler’s ditching his last period to drive to her house

* What a mess

* You chew the pineapple carefully, just like a human would. Because even though Bella knows LITERALLY NOTHING. She somehow suspects everything.

* You watch her from the corner of your eye, making polite conversation with Angela about biology next period.

* The amount of questions she has about you is ridiculous

* How did you meet Edward? How does your family know the Cullen’s? Where are you adoptive parents now? If they’re back in the states why haven’t you gone to live with them?

* It’s literally never ending. And that’s just her trying to poke holes in your story.

* You’re not even going to start with all the stuff she’s commented on your physical appearance

* “Hey don’t you think it’s weird they all have gold eyes?” You had heard Bella quietly ask Jessica when she thought you couldn’t hear

* “Not really, they’ve got like six kids, so when one kid needs something more of them do too. (Y/N) told me Alice wanted color contacts so Dr. Cullen just bought some for all of them.”

* And then the week before that, while you were doing a stunt at a basketball game Bella said:

* “Aren’t they like, too strong?” You were lifting up a girl all on your own.

* “Oh yeah- I guess you never saw the video, apparently they’re jacked.” Conner says, with a shrug.

* “Yeah they heard working out helps with stress when they were like 12 and just never stopped.” Mike adds absentmindedly

* And if that wasn’t enough she’s even said this a few weeks before that:

* “Don’t you think it’s weird how beautiful they all are?” Lauren wrinkles her nose, at the time she had gotten used to Bella but she still doesn’t seem to like her very much

* “Not really, I remember (Y/N) wasn’t all that pretty freshman year, they used to wear these really dorky glasses.”

* You had almost started to forget how good you had it, after you did all the leg work in the last two years to establish that you were normal -just kinda quirky- you had just started to enjoy the pay off. A little more lax with your appearance, wearing clothes you liked, doing more solo routines in cheer.

* Only for little Miss.Curious to show up

* Now you have to try extra hard to look human again. And not just you, the entire coven does, because when one of you falls under suspicion you all do.

* Rosalie’s been making her hair look messy every so often to give the illusion that she’s having a bad hair day, Alice wears a retainer every so often, even Emmett pretends to need the bathroom more than he usually does.

* This morning you even had Rosalie do a fake pimple on your jaw.

* If Bella wasn’t going to be your best friends’ future wife, you think you might just hate her.

* You kind of sympathize with Rosalie in the book now.

* “Hey (Y/N) are you in?” Conner asks nudging his elbow against yours.

* “In for what?” You mumble, spearing another piece of pineapple. Another downside is now you have to eat at lunch. Otherwise Bella starts asking why you never eat and everyone gets really concerned and starts force feeding you

* God, all those years of establish you have low blood sugar and acid reflux induced nausea for nothing

* “La Push beach, we’re all going this weekend.” You perk up at the mention

* Finally, something’s getting back on track

* “Can’t, cheer stuff.” You mumble, shoving your food around your plate with your fork.

* You don’t miss Bella’s meaningful glance on your mostly full plate.

* Oh great, you can practically see the question “don’t you think it’s weird how they never eat anything?” Forming in the inner corners of her mind

* “What about you Edward?” Lauren flutters her eyelashes and you have to stop yourself from rolling your eyes.

* Lauren’s still annoyed that even though they’re hooking up, Tyler hasn’t made anything official yet

* Alice told her flirting with another guy might help.

* “He’s not going either.” You say before Edward can even open his mouth. He doesn’t say anything just gives you a questioning look and a smile.

* Looks like he’s finding everyone else’s thoughts more interesting

* “Are you guys going on a date?” Jessica waggles her eyebrows and on the other side of the table Bella sputters.

* You roll your eyes

* “No Jessica, but if I can’t go have fun neither can he.” Technically you both are forbidden to go on tribal land but whatever. “Best friend code.”

* Also you’re pretty sure Edward and Emmett are going to Yellowstone to eat bears or something, like a couple of heathens

* The thought of eating straight out of bear, no idea what they’ve eaten or where they’ve been doing their business, makes you shudder.

* You did mention to them both that if they happen to find an orphaned bear cub somewhere to bring it back. You’ve been wanting to experiment with bear blood.

* “Best friend code.” Edward repeats slowly, and the look he gives you makes your stomach flutter. And it’s not because you just ate half a salad.

* You’re knocked out of the look when Conner bumps his knee against yours

* “Well that’s a shame, I was looking forward to seeing you in a swimsuit.”

* So Conner’s been flirting a lot with you lately. Kind of weird, your best guess is that he was hoping to date Lauren, but now that she’s kinda seeing Tyler, you’re starting to look good.

* “Maybe you should have a pool party at that fancy house of yours then.” The group laughs but Conner just smirks

* “Whatever you want babe but-“ the bell cuts him off and you give him a consolatory pat on the arm.

* You move to throw away the leftover food on your plate, walking with Edward

* “We’re ditching right?” You ask him as you toss the plate into the trash.

* “Yeah Mr. Barnes is doing his blood type experiment today.” Like he even needs an excuse to skip school. “Do you want to go to the bookstore or something?”

* You shake your head, that won’t do, when Bella faints Edward needs to be there so they can fall in love

* “Wanna just hang out in my car? We can listen to that new Debussy CD I got.”

* Edward gives you a small smile, like he’s not really happy

* “Whatever you want.”

* Wait what’s up with that.

* “Hey, (Y/N)!” Bella calls out for you and Edward grimaces.

* “I’ll meet you at your car” wait he’s not going to stay here? If this was a dating video game he’d be the kind of player that wasted all the capture flags and then complains when they end up all alone.

* He leaves just as Bella gets to you. She spares a fleeting glance in Edward’s direction, almost looking sad as she watches him walk away before she looks to you

* “Are you heading over to biology?” She really is cute, like a puppy. She must have been hoping to get a little closer to Edward.

* You almost feel bad for not warning her what with her issues on blood.

* “Nah I’ve got to finish my trig homework so I’m going to skip.” You fake a yawn.

* Oh, before you forget

* “I actually got you something.”

* You hand her a carefully wrapped gift bag, compliments of Rosalie of course

* “Vitamins?” Bella asks, her eyebrows threading together

* “Yeah, it’s like a vitamin powder, you just add it to water. We bought a big family pack so I thought I would share some with you.”

* Also because you’re 100% sure she’s anemic.

* Part of the reason you like the way she smells so much is because of her anemia, if it’s just the peach scent you can probably contain yourself.

* You wave goodbye and Bella looks down at the package in her hands with a goofy expression. She hugs it to her chest before her expression pinches.

* “I should have offered to let them copy my notes” Bella murmurs to herself. Smacking her forehead and walking to biology.

* When you manage to sneak out to the parking lot through the gym doors, you see Edward leaning against your car, looking bored as he looks to the tree line

* “Why didn’t you sit inside? You look like a douchebag.”

* “I would have if someone had given me the keys”

* Like that’s stopped him before

* You unlock the car, letting it start with a hum before you pull out your trig homework

* You weren’t entirely lying to Bella, you really hadn’t finished you homework

* Edward pulls out a book from his bag, you’re not ashamed to say you’ve gotten him super into “The City of Ember” series

* “Hey why did you walk away when Bella came over?” you’re only half curious, mostly just trying to make conversation. “You don’t hate her do you?” You add with a laugh.

* The mere thought of Edward Cullen hating Bella Swan is laughable.

* “Yeah I do.”

* You find yourself coughing from the sheer shock.

* “You mean she frustrates you because you can’t read her mind.” Edward has spared you a concerned glance when you started coughing, but has turned his attention back to his book

*” No I mean I don’t like her, and I don’t like being around her.” He doesn’t look up from his book as he says it.

* “But why?” Yeah she’s a little plain, and she’s still pretty shy even though you’ve been hanging out for a month and all those damn questions

* But she’s got good taste in books, and she’s pretty straightforward.

* She’s not the type of person to go behind your back, if you did something to upset her she’ll tell you straight to your face.

* Honestly she’s a lot like Angela, minus the hidden cunning nature.

* Edward eyes narrow and a heavy sigh escapes him. His head tilts back to rest against the passenger seat headrest.

* His neck is so long and white. The color of freshly fallen snow. You can’t help but think of how pretty it would look covered in hickeys.

* Like poppy’s blossoming in the snow.

* Can vampires get hickeys? Would it just be like black instead of red since none of you really have blood anymore.

* “I just don’t like-” He cuts himself off when his eyes meet yours, they seem to shine brighter for a moment, and you tilt your head. This feels like a meaningful look.

* Edward sighs and looks away.

* “I just don’t like her vibe.”

*”Vibe? Are you an Edward shaped imposter?” you see him mouth ‘Edward Shaped Imposter’ as you both laugh.

* “Where did you learn to say these things?” He asks between laughs. You mock gasp.

* “The real Edward would never ask me that because he’s too afraid to know! Who are you really? What planet are you from?” Your hands move to his face, his face is as smooth as marble, lingering warmth. You leaned in without thinking about it, only a few inches away from him.

* You’re so close you can smell him. He always smells good, like something ancient and profound. Rosemary and argon oil.

* Your hands are still on his face and he’s grinning.

* You gulp

* You’re trying to think of another ridiculous imposter joke you can make wen you catch a familiar head of blond hair through the window.

* “Is that Mike and ... Bella?”

* This is a lot sooner than you thought, it hasn’t even been ten minutes yet.

* Edward looks almost bored as he follows your gaze.

* “Yeah, looks like she made herself sick, she’s - what’s that word for when people are afraid of blood?”

* “Hemophobia?”

* “Yeah, that’s what she has.”

* You wait for a second, releasing his face from your hands, but instead of moving to open the door he slumps back into his seat, eyes focused on his book.

* “Don’t you think we should go help them?” He shrugs.

* The f*cking criminal just shrugs.

* WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON?!?!

* Human or not, there’s no world Edward wouldn’t at least think about helping someone who’s in trouble.

* You’re starting to think this really is an Edward imposter.

* You watch Bella lean on Mike, stumbling down the crosswalk to the nurse’s office in the next building.

* You can’t watch anymore

* ‘You know you-” You words finally get Edward’s attention as he looks up from his book. “You are wasting all the capture flags!” You shout before sliding out of your car and jogging over to Mike and Bella

* “Mike! What happened?” He’s so surprised to see you his grip on Bella goes slack and she falls out of his side hold.

* “Oh crap!”

* You rush to catch her, swinging her into a princess hold.

* What was Mike struggling with so much? She’s not very hea - oh right you’re a vampire.

* “Are you alright, I know she’s kinda heavy.” Well that’s not very nice to say about a girl, besides she’s pretty skinny. Can’t be more than 120 pounds.

* “It’s no problem, I do it for cheer are all the time.” You do a fake grunt as you pretend to get a better hold on her.

* The movement jostle her awake, her eyes fluttering open. She’s still in a dreamy state, her eyes are unfocused.

* “(Y/N)?”

* “Hey buddy, looks like ya fainted, squeamish around blood huh?”

* “How do you know we were doing the blood type experiment?” Mike asks.

* Oh crap. You were skipping, you weren’t supposed to know that. Even worse you brain can’t seem to come up with a valid excuse.

* “Alice told us about it, (Y/N) used to be squeamish around blood when we were kids, didn’t want to take any chances” You let out a sigh of relief when you see Edward walking towards you. At least he’s not completely heartless.

*”Then why were you skipping?” Mike asks scratching his head. Edward shrugs

* “They can’t go to class, then I won’t go either.” And then the criminal looks you straight in the eye and says with the cheekiest smile imaginable:

*“It’s the best friend code”

* Oh f*ck off Edward.

* You almost want to scoff when he takes Bella from your arms and into his.

* SO now he wants to care about the capture flag.

* You let him take her though, You swear you see her stiffen and frown when he holds her.

* That can’t be right, she seemed super relaxed when you were carrying her.

* “I-I’m fine I can walk.”

* “No you can’t.” Edward bluntly says.

* Even when he gets to capture event, he says all the wrong things. You sigh as you walk behind him. Only to notice another set of footsteps by you.

* “You can go back if you want Mike, Edward won’t kidnap her or anything.” He might throw her into the lake though.

* Mike shakes his head. “No it just seems wrong to not make sure she at least gets to the nurses office.”

*You smile, he really is a kind boy.

* “Also I’ll be damned if Bella gives Edward all the credit.” Well mostly kind.

* You get to the nurses office, who seems incredibly flustered with both you and Edward in such a small space.

* She seems so preoccupied keeping her wits about her as she checks out Bella and deals with your presence that she never asks why three people had to escort one person to the nurses office.

* “Well your blood pressure is a little low, since you fainted I would suggest you go home. If you want you can take a nap in here until school’s out.” Wow, where was a nurse this generous when you were in school.

* Bella, the beautiful moron, shakes her head.

* “No it’s okay I’ll go back to class, I don’t want to take a zero for the assignment” Well that’s noble and responsible and all. But what does she think is going to happen when she goes back to class?

* She’s going to see some blood again and faint. Not that you can be mad, you would probably have to go the the nurse too if Bella ever managed to prick her own finger

* “Bella you really shouldn’t,” You settle your hand on her shoulder pushing her back onto the chair. “You just fainted you should lie down, or go home or something.”

* Her eyebrows thread together, mouth pulled in protest.

* “I don’t want to impose on any-”

* “It’s not an imposition, I want to!” Her mouth parts, then closes, stretching into a fine line. You look to Edward who’s avoiding your gaze and seems very irritated.

* Enemies to lovers trope it is.(Though you’re not sure if this counts as enemies if only one person dislikes the other)

* “I’m going to drop you off home, come on.” You pull Bella up by her hand, leading her to the parking lot.

* “Wait what about my car?”

* Oh you hadn’t thought about that.

*Hmmm in the original book Alice drove her home. But Alice doesn’t really do anything unless there’s something in it for her, or if she wants to.

* Also you’re pretty sure when she ditched today when she found out that people were pricking there finger on campus. She claimed it was for Jasper, but you’re pretty sure there’s a sale in the Nordstrom in Seattle.

* Edward would rather get the flu than drive Bella’s ancient truck.

* Which leaves only one option.

* You toss your keys to Edward who catches them with one hand.

* “Edward will drive you home in my car, and I’ll drive your car behind him.”

* “What about Rosalie?” He grumbles.

*“What about Rosalie?” Why is he being so difficult right now? Doesn’t he realize you’re doing this all for him!

* “You’re driving her home since Emmett and I are leaving for Yellow Stone as soon as school lets out.” Oh right the bears. Cr*p.

* “It’s not a big deal, I’ll drive back to school after we’re done and you can go your way and I’ll go mine.”

* You can tell Edward doesn’t like it, but he just sigh’s climbing into your car and then promptly getting out of the passenger side and sitting in the driver’s side.

* The dork forgot he had to drive the car.

* You’re dying laughing as Bella leads you to her car.

* “It’s the blue one.”

* Her truck isn’t all that bad. It’s old, but in a kind of retro way. It’s powder blue, with only two doors and no backseat.

* You climb in, turning the engine and hearing it purr. Well it’s more of a roar, but it’s not terrible.

* You’re surprised when Bella climbs through the passenger side door.

* “Um, you’re not going to drive with Edward?” She looks at you like you just asked her to recite the Fibonacci sequence.

* “Why would I go with him when you’re the one driving my car?” Okay, that’s fair.

* You sigh, why does nothing ever go according to plan.

* Maybe it’s for the best, Edward doesn’t seem to be in the best mood. Not that this is good either, she’s sitting so close to you, her peachy scent fills the small space of the truck and you feel lightheaded.

* It’s less than a ten minute trip, no need to get dramatic. You’re pretty sure you won’t kill her just because she smells nice.

* “Soooooo... what do you want to talk about?” You ask as you turn out of the school, this car is super slow compared to yours, you’re pretty sure it won’t go over 50 mph.

* Bella fidgets beside you, playing with the ends of her hair.

* “So are you and Edward...dating?”

* You laugh so loud you actually start coughing. And then you laugh again.

* “No-pfff- no We’re uh- we’re not dating.” You finally manage.

* “Why is that so funny to you?” She asks, genuinely confused.

* “Well it’s just outrageous you know?” How would that even work? You can’t even picture it. Edward getting all hot and bothered because you’re wearing an oversized sweater and glasses. You flirting with him all over the house in front of Carlisle and Esme. Edward signing up for a sport just so he can see you in his letterman.

* It’s all...impossible.

* And yet, there is one thing you can picture.

* Edward by your side, he’s almost golden brown, his eyes bright green. He points to the living room, and in there are Alec and Jane, both of their eyes blue as they argue over who’s turn it is to watch TV.

* Maybe if you were human, if you had met in a different world or a different time, that would be something you could have.

* But it is what it is

* “Edward and I have been friends for a really long time, we’ve just seen too much of each other to find each other attractive like that.”

* Bella looks like she doesn’t believe you but she doesn’t say anything.

* Wait what are you doing? This is the perfect chance to talk Edward up!

* “But you know Edward is a real stand up guy!” It leaves a little too forcefully, a little inauthentic.

* “Oh is he?” She doesn’t sound too excited to be talking about this.

* “I know he’s got one of those face-”

* “Obnoxiously handsome?” She spats

* “Like he thinks existence is a curse, and the world is evil and everything is terrible -” Wait you’re getting off track. “B-but he really is a good guy!”

* You bite your lip, as Bella tells you to turn into a subdivision.

* “You know after- after I was adopted,” After your parents died. “I was really lonely, I had a family that loved me and anything I asked for but I didn’t really have anyone to talk to” Oh god, why did you choose this story to pick? “Edward was probably the only friend my age I had for years.”

* She straightens up a little bit, a curious glint in her eyes.

* “Really?” You nod.

* “Yeah he would come by every Monday and Wednesday,” You still remember the crunch of the snow under your feet as you both walked to the barn. He always asked why you didn’t just run, and you always told him because you liked the way you could see your breath hang in the air,

* “He could have been out that time, hanging out with other people,” More well adjusted vampires, who hunted instead of harvesting small amounts from animals they raised. “or chasing girls and playing sports, but he stayed with me.”

* “He always made me feel safe, and I’m sure whoever is lucky enough to end up with him will feel that way too.”

* “I think you’re giving him too much credit” Bella finally says, you smile at her

* “what do you mean?”

* “Well, who wouldn’t drop everything to hang out with you?” You can’t tell if she’s being genuine or if she’s bitter. Your eyes meet hers and there’s a twinkle in them. ”My house is the one on the left, the one with the magnolia tree.”

* You come to a stop in front of the house she mentioned, shifting it into park, and handing her the keys.

* You don’t say anything as you climb out of her car. You see Edward stopped a few dozen feet behind her truck, your jeep still on.

* “Thanks for driving me home” She smiles at you, a real smile that reaches her eyes. It’s nice.

* “No problem, it gave me an excuse to ditch school too haha.” You both stand in awkward silence. Neither of you moving.

* Well damn what are you supposed to do now?

* “Oh, hey do you want me to bring you your homework or anything?”

* She perks up at that, reaching into her pocket

* “If you don’t mind, could you text me what page he homework is on for trig today?”

* “ Oh for sure! No problem at all” You take her cell phone in your hand. It’s a white sidekick, with a picture of a cactus on the back. She must have gotten it when she moved.

* You can’t help but wonder if she has any friends she misses. She spent her entire life in one community, sure Phoenix is a pretty big place, but she must have had friends, people she sat with at lunch everyday, girls she had known since childhood, sleepovers where they whispered about boys they had crushes on.

* As you hand her phone back, your contact information saved in it, you can’t help but wonder who this person in front of you is. You know her, but at the same time, you know absolutely nothing about her.

* “See you Monday!” You wave goodbye as you get into the passenger side of your car, and Bella waits on the porch until you and Edward leave.

* Edward’s got that look on his face.

* “Edward why are you mad?”

* “I’m not mad.” He grumbles and you raise an eyebrow. He sighs.

* “You’re going out of your way an awful lot for that human.” He says as he turns back onto the highway.

* “It’s just the right thing to do Eddie.”

* He shakes his head, his mouth pinched into a frown

* “Just be careful, I don’t know what that one’s thinking, she could be planning to burn our entire coven for all I know.”

* You roll your eyes, yeah you bet Bella who weights exactly 115 pounds, and has anemia is single handedly planning to bring down the entire vampire race.

* “How about we make a deal, I’ll promise not to rock the boat while you and Emmett are gone-”

* “Why do I feel like I’m going to regret not covering my ears?”

*” If you promise to bring me back a bear cub - an orphaned one.” He gives you a look you don’t quite care for.

* “You want me to kill a mother bear so you can have a bear cub?”

* “No of course not! I’m just saying- Emmett doesn’t really look before he kills so if he kills a mother bear, just make sure you bring me the cubs.”

* “Why do you even want a bear? How are you planning to take care of it with all those deer around, they need a lot-”

* “Yes Dad I know it’s a big responsibility, don’t worry I won’t make you take it on walks or anything.”

* Edward gulps hard, one hand detaching from the steering wheel to cover his mouth.

* Wouldn’t it be positively sinful for you to be underneath him, whining ‘daddy, please’ in that breathy voice of yours and-

* Edward.exe is broken.

* “Dude you really need to get your shit together before you go on your trip, we’ve been parked for fifteen minutes and your foot is still on the brake.” You say as you get out of the car

* He hits his head against the steering wheel.

* “Yeah, I really do need to get my shit together.”

-She talks pretty fast- she agrees when I confessed that I had not understood some of the things that Bea, her make-up artist, had said-. But she's funny. It's nice to have someone to entertain you when I'm not filming- I nod. We sit down in one of the armchairs next to a door marked "Dressing Room". -Who did you want to introduce me to now? -Johnny Depp. You know, he plays Edward. The main character in the film. The film is called after him. Yeah, Johnny Depp- she says everything in a rushed way to end in silence. I look at her when she finishes speaking. -You like him. -What? No- she shakes her head, and I know she's doing it so I won't notice how red she's gone.

-Winnie, we've known each other since we were eight, don't try to fool me. Now, you can tell me all about him. -Don't tell me I've never heard of him- she snorts. My blank stare must be enough for her to see that I don't know who she's talking about. -You know I'm not interested in cinema. -But he's known, y/n, you must have heard of him. You'll like him. The fame hasn't gone to his head at all. He's so interesting, I could talk to him for hours. He's polite, funny, honest. -Yeah, you do really like him. -I'm telling you, he's the kind of guy you'd really like- she insists. -You know I believe you- I look at my watch-.But if it's going to take much longer, you'll have to introduce me to him another day. I have to go. -How so? Are you meeting someone? Rick?- she grins mischievously. -Lord no, he calls the house every day. My father can't stand him- I deny-. We have a maths exam on Monday. -Exams? Winona was one of the best students in the class and we always studied together. Since she started acting, she dropped out of school. We don't see each other as often as we would like to. It's been a year since then, but she feels guilty that we don't do the same things we used to do together, like studying for exams. -But it's still April- she protests in bewilderment-. We used to start exams in May. -Perks of being a senior- I reply with a wink. She relaxes her frown and smiles. She opens her mouth but at the same moment, a boy comes out of the door. From the way my friend hesitates before getting up, I deduce that it's Johnny Depp. -See you, Monday Stan- he says, heading into the room. When he turns his head and sees he's not alone, he smiles broadly, causing her brown eyes to narrow -. Winona- he approaches her-. I thought you'd gone with the others. -I was waiting for you- Even though her back is to me, I can tell from her voice that she has a goofy grin on her face. -You shouldn't have- he still has a smile plastered on his face.

God, they're made for each other.

They both stare at each other for a while, until I clear my throat. -And I wanted to introduce you to my best friend. Johnny, this is y/n- Winona steps aside so we can introduce ourselves. -It's nice to finally meet you- he steps closer to me and the smell of his perfume wafts over me. He leans down to give me two kisses on my cheeks. His skin is soft, and the approach increases the scent. Too sweet for my taste. -Likewise- I reply, mimicking his actions. -And how do you know each other? Do you act too?- he asks as he puts on his jacket. -Not at all, we have been friends since childhood. Winona thought of showing me what the set was like and she introduced me to some of your colleagues. Now we've been with Bea and Henry-I look to Mona to confirm their names and she nods with a smile. -They're nice people. But if you didn't follow Bea talking, you should see her at a party. -Hey, why don't you come with us to the party tonight?- Winnie asks-. You'd have a great time, wouldn't she Johnny?- she asks looking from me to him. -It's a great idea. You should come with us- he smiles running his hand through his hair. -It sounds tempting, but I have a date with the maths books and I can't miss it. -Just a little while? -I deny with a smile-. Johnny drives me home before heading back to the bar with the rest of his mates. The ride is almost entirely silent; most of the conversation had been between the two of them. -Thanks for the ride. You shouldn't have bothered- I finally say, running a finger over the vent. - Don't you know the saying, friends of my friends are my friends?- he replies turning to the right. -Yeah, right- he stops in front of the courtyard of my house-. Well-I say, unbuckling my belt-, thanks again for the ride. If you and Mona are willing to bring me to one of your parties, I guess I'll see you again. -Then we'll definitely see each other again- he says, smiling, with one arm on the steering wheel-.It was nice to meet you. I smile without showing my teeth and unlike my best friend, I take my leave with a simple "Goodbye". When I open the door of my house, I hear the screeching of the wheels as they speed up.

Diana Silvers has a lot of similar face features as Kristen, not only that but I wanted to darken her up a bit. Though described as pale in the book and movie, probably to appease to systemic racism, a girl that’s lived in Arizona probably isn’t that pale. Plus I’m a bit bias in picking a Jewish actress 🥰

Though in the book Edward is described has having auburn hair, and they attempt to recreate some of that within the movie, I couldn’t find anyone else like Jacob that had the “Edward” vibe to them. I can just see him as Edward 100% especially within a modernized adaptation.

Watch me as I casually recast Boo Boo 😳 he is literally gorgeous though, and don’t tell me otherwise that he wouldn’t play an amazing Jake ! It’s also extremely hard to find any fully native american actors and actresses, especially younger ones!

Devery is gorgeous, badass and an activist for her people! She’s also Canadian, so I’ve seen her in tons of interviews. I totally feel like she could play Leah so well! (Also with that exact haircut, it would be everything 😍)

Y’all already saw Lana coming, I mean- look at her?? She’s bubbly, energetic and plays characters that are as well, but she also knows how to play a dramatic type.

Louis Hofmann is a german actor from the series “Dark.” I honestly just get Jasper vibes from him. Just a quite type ya know? Plus I would love to see shorter hair and more strawberry toned on Jasper!

Josephine Langford as Rosalie Hale

John Boyega as Emmett Cullen

Jospehine would play a bitch ass Rosalie. I can literally picture it in my head, the only downside would be that she looks a bit younger ! And I would give her some extensions in a movie adaption.

John playing a goofy and dumb Emmett? Count me in pls. Even though John is super “Hollywood” star status right now and maybe going with someone more ‘Netflix’ would be a better choice, I can also picture John with a stupid hat on, talking nonsense.

Jessica Chastain as Esme Cullen

Jessica is a bit of an older choice and so is Sam, but the reason I wanted it that way was due to Smeyers poor writing of the cullens anyway. There’s absolutely no way god damn 20 yr olds would get away with fostering all these almost adult kids. I totally picture the cullen parents to be atleast 30 guys. Anyway Jessica is total “mom” type, and I would love to see something different with Esme’s hair.

Sam is almost nearly as perfect as Peter. I mean?? He’s chivalrous and dashing, can totally play a handsome Dad and Doctor. Also I like the darker hair, but Sam with lighter hair also looks just as “Carlisle”y 🥰

Jonathan Crane:

No matter how late you two end up staying up, he will still get up at the exact butt-crack of dawn. How he does it, you have no fucking idea. But when you do finally rouse, hours later, he’s already awake.

He was kind enough not to wake you up along with him, instead opting to read a book as you continued to sleep. When you do eventually wake up, you’re tucked in the crook of his arm, with his fingers stroking through your hair.

Somehow he managed to get up, make coffee, and return to the bed without waking you up in the process. In which Jon absolutely puts his Sneaking Skills to appropriate (and adorable) use.

Edward Nygma:

That man is an incredibly heavy sleeper. It’s a miracle you get any sleep at all, considering how loudly he snores. (Not that he would ever admit that he snores, because obviously he doesn’t.)

Even if you try to wake him up, he’ll probably just roll over and ignore you. You’re not getting him out of bed anytime soon. Eh, it gives you an excuse to sneak in a couple more hours, too.

Eventually, he’ll roll back over and wrap his arms around you. It’s done entirely in his sleep, and though you might wake up with drool in your hair, the cuteness is enough to make you lean back into him. What a dork.

Jervis Tetch:

He’s already so used to a set schedule that he’s ready to get up and start his morning as usual. It’s you who has to drag him back to bed and remind him that you have nowhere to go and nothing to do. A few more hours of sleep won’t hurt.

Once he finally agrees to crawl back into bed, does the comfort really hit him. It’s been a long time since he’s had the excuse to sleep in. Much less someone beside him while he does it.

You crawl back in beside him and curl up against his chest, and he knows he can’t go anywhere now. Not that he would. Instead, he simply pulls you closer and allows the sound of your soft, even breathing to lull him back to sleep.

Music Meister:

That man is a party animal. Chances are he passed out long after you did, stumbling into the bedroom to face-plant out cold into the sheets. And once he’s out, not even the Batman himself could wake him up again.

You’re always the one who wakes up first, with his arm wrapped around your waist in such an iron grip that you have no chance of getting free until he’s woken up. Which won’t be for a long while.

Once he does finally wake up, the first thing he does is give you this sleepy, goofy smile. And when you do finally get the chance to escape, don’t expect to be free for very long! Because he’s pulling you back into bed with him the moment he gets the chance to.

So this got super long, but your tag about wanting more lil’ Edward in MS had me going “awwwww” and then my brain started going. I mean, sure, technically he wouldn’t be able to remember a lot from his human days after turning, and with him being almost a century old there really isn’t any human memories worth bringing up bc now it’s such a small part of his existence. BUT hear me out...

Little Edward was curious, focused, cunning, musical, and affectionate. Observant, too. He would put his plump little hand on his mother’s when he sensed she was sad, and she knew that somehow he knew (and then he’d get cuddled).

He was entranced with the sounds of a piano since he first heard his mother play. Little Edward wasn’t allowed to touch the magnificent instrument, but one day his parents caught him, feet dangling, green eyes studiously focused, plucking at the keys until they made nice sounds. Elizabeth cooed that he was a natural, and his father agreed on lessons.

Little Edward loved to run. He was the fastest on the playground. Whenever he played ‘Tag’ with the other kids he always had this big, goofy grin on his face, hair wild, cheeks pink as he caught his breath. And he never lost. Kids stopped asking him to play rather quickly, though. That’s when he got more into sports, where running wasn’t the only way to win but where it was still necessary. He didn’t always win as easily at these games, though, and that’s when his competitiveness began.

At school, Edward was generally well-liked by everyone. He was an avid reader (even with picture books), kept to himself a lot, and had only a couple best friends. He got into real trouble only once: when ‘the mean kid’ purposely threw a baseball into his best friend’s shoulder instead of to the catcher and 10-year-old Edward retaliated by pitching one directly into the bully’s nose in the next inning. Neither of his parents were amused, and although he apologized to the kid he was secretly rather pleased with himself for enacting “justice”. Young Edward liked things fair, and he didn’t see a problem with doing it himself. He figured someone had to, right?

In class, he was quiet, but not shy. Teacher’s loved him, but he would once in awhile get a scolding for ‘arguing’ with the teachers when they said something he didn’t quite agree with. He called it a discussion; his teachers called it a disturbance. This started at a young age, where he would delay lessons because he was asking too many skeptical questions.

His grades were naturally good, but when they slipped because he was too busy studying music rather than math his father would get mad, so growing up he made sure his grades were always top-of-the-class material so he could study his art without his father breathing down his neck. (They never agreed very much as he got older. But one thing that always brought the two Edwards together was baseball. His father was the one who taught him how to play, and tossing the ball back and forth was the only place they could form a companionable silence.)

Where Edward Sr. was too strict with little Edward, Elizabeth spoiled him. She was strong, and disciplined when she saw fit, but overall, her son was everything to her, and she couldn’t stay upset with him for long. When toddler Edward looked up at her with those wide green eyes that saw too much, through those long lashes above those chubby cheeks he got A LOT of cuddles (and a lot of freebies).

Little Edward loved going on outings with his mother. No matter what they were doing, he would find something to be curious about, to be entranced by. And he always wanted to help. He would proudly carry a single orange through town because that’s the grocery item his mother entrusted him with, and he was determined to help. Little Edward didn’t like letting anybody down, especially people he was close to.

He was a silly, passionate little guy with a kind heart and creative spirit, who mussed up his hair whenever his mother combed it too neat and didn’t really like to get too dirty and hated wearing caps and loved to stand outside in the wind and picked flowers for everyone even if his father never accepted them and got caught more than once starting up the family car when he could barely reach the pedals. (When an adult would race outside and cross their arms at him for the umpteenth time, his lightly freckled face would peek over the wheel and he would grace them with an angelic, crooked little grin that was missing a tooth. Esme would have adored it.)

AUGH I love every bit of this 💜💜💜💜 thank you so much and PLEASE will you draw that first time Edward was at the piano? Pretty please? 😢😢😢

The Mighty Valkyries #3: Firmly in "if this wasn't a miniseries I wouldn't stick around" territory tbh, though it feels more like it running out of steam than a weakness of the creators.

Heroes Reborn #7: It was @chadnevett who I saw recently tumble onto the true premise of the series and why it's called what it's called: the idea here is what if Lee and Liefeld had rebooted DC in 90s instead of Marvel. Is that a clever or meaningful idea? No. Am I having a hoot right through to the end? Yes. Also, (rot13) guvf vagebqhprf gur qrzbavp rdhvinyrag gb gur Pbfzvp Phor: GUR URYYNURQEBA. Ubj pna lbh abg ybir gung.

Superman: Red and Blue #4: Nabbed that Simonson cover! The Waid/Mok/Bellaire/Sharpe story is a fun throwback, Manapul and Sharpe aim a little higher in the script than they can pull off but of course it's gorgeous and also makes the best use of color in the issue for my money, Venditti/Martinez/Lopez/Sharpe do a nice little stock tale, Conrad/Hamner/Brosseau get a little more heavy-handed with the narration than is needed but it still works, and the Douek/Quinones/Sharpe story is another relatively stock entry but still manages to earn being the Superman story drawn by Quinones post-Dial H.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1: A decent kickoff and probably the first Tom King #1 where I firmly feel like I have a grasp of what the book's going for right off the bat as in this case a genre mashup, though this is ultimately Evely's show for doing big, atmospheric alien and western stuff to the best of her considerable abilities.

Catwoman #32: Really good little one-off!

The Many Deaths of Laila Starr #3: Friend of mine mentioned this issue hit particularly hard for him as a callout of rightwing shit in India, which having read the issue I can definitely say I lack the context to get beyond the broadest strokes, but even lacking that particular punch for me this is still a great issue just like the first two.

Stillwater #8: Mmmmight be starting to fall off this a bit.

Radiant Black #5: Okay, you have my attention.

6 Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton #1: I missed this coming out recently, I haven't tried much of Kyle Starks' work that he hasn't also drawn himself and the premise didn't much leap out at me, but I decided to give this a whirl and it's a very fun book with a great fit for Starks' sensibilities in Chris Schweizer.

Ultramega #4: Huh. Well, certainly curious where things head from here.

Project Patron #3: Still a pretty much perfect balance of tones for the subject.

Jupiter's Legacy: Requiem #1: This would be a fav just between the Quitely cover and the schadenfreude of the afterword opening with "As I write these words, Jupiter's Legacy has launched as the number one most watched show in the world over the weekend." But yes, I am in fact diving in for one last Mark Millar comic, because dammit I'm seeing this particular thing through to the end. It's all you'd expect or if you have my particular sensibilities be excited for: so aggressively dumb, so dopey fun, so many interesting mishandled ideas. This is also, notably, extremely Boruto: you got your new Utopian, your new Skyfox-type, your new powerless descendant, your new kid who wants nothing to do with the family business, your new celebrity asshole, etc.; even the old guard are switching roles around between them. It's still fun though with one legit killer twist that Millar doesn't put on a page turn, why. Obviously the real star is Tommy Lee Edwards' art and coloring (with work in one sequence from John Paul Leon in one of his final contributions) and it's as next-level as you'd hope, this unbelievably vibrant, lively, lush, almost watercolor-ish interpretation of a sprawling poppy superhero universe that's the ideal form of him handling this material. But also worth drawing attention to John Workman's lettering, which really visualizes the extremely specific cadence and rhythm to Mark Millar's dialogue as we've never seen before to...interesting results. Put like that it's not surprising it's kinda goofy in practice, but there's a certain honesty to it.

Imma have a little fun and throw the very young me into the mix to. Let's see child me vs adult me's opinions on the Volturiiii.

Fun fact: I wasn't team Volturi until I was like fifteen. Before that I was team edward... I don't want to talk about that 🤔😒

Also I'm a sucker for villains. If it isn't obvious already, I like the villains more than the heroes. (We all love a bad boy though, don't we?--- TIK TOK NOW IS NOT THE TIMEE.)

So everything i say is just my opinion and should be taken just as that.

Aro: Younger me was like "this...is a terrible person. There really is no need to expand on this." However adult me has been like "GUYS this guy is possibly the SCARIEST character. This man rips off heads AND SMILES ABOUT IT." He gives me child snatcher vibes (from the movies in particular). I thoroughly enjoy the power hungry persona. He's really fitting to be the puppeteer behind the Volturi. Even if he makes it seem it's a group effort with himself, Marcus and Caius. Realistically, Aro gets what he wants and isn't afraid to do what it takes to get it...sorry Didyme. What's even darker about it, WHICH I LOVE, is that he isn't heartless. Smeyer wrote that Aro genuinely loved his sister. It's all good to have a character that's a evil heartless monster but what's more terrifying to me is the ability for someone to do evil despite their love and emotions. It doesn't hold them back and that's what I find particularly frightening now that child me didn't comprehend. Micheal Sheen, from what I remember of his interview years ago, played on the idea that vampires of Aro's age kinda begin to lose their mind. Which, hell freaking yes. However there is one thing I hate for Aro's character that happened in the movies. Breaking dawn part 2. That fucking laugh. Don't get me wrong, hilarious. I can't not laugh but for his character I felt it was too 'hey hey I'm a crazy man hehe'. It was a but too much, even for an eccentric Aro. However, I'm not to mad at it because again, it was funny to watch. I thoroughly enjoy the ‘friendship’ Aro and Carlisle share and i love that it is ‘maintained’ throughout the books. I think it’s just a really nice detail. (I love lore. I am a sucker for it.) The one thing that didnt sit right with me is Aro marrying someone so that he wasnt the alone one whilst his co-leaders were very much in love? Was a little off for me but i suppose that just adds to the character.

Caius: child me would shrink into the seat because what did I do to this man? High key still think I wouldn't want to be Caius' child because imagine doing something wrong and you get that glare? No thank you! Scary angry man. As an adult... "He's an angry boi but...DAYUM WHY IS HE SUDDENLY SO HOT?" Just...don't get angry with me. You'll get annoying real quick and you're too pretty for that. I enjoy the taking-no-shit attitude he has but felt it could have been a little more prominent in BDP2 where Aro asks if Caius' is challenging him. I full believe Caius to an extend would be like "yes, yes I am. Don't be an idiot Aro. Use that braincell!" Which is why I adore the meme vibes I see every now and then of Caius hating Carlisle because why does Aro love that blonde so much? CAIUS HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT LOYAL-- Anyways, I can totally get why Aro wants him on his team. Caius is so angry and has so much hatred that he’s a good asset to the coven, even if not having a special ability.I do find it hard to imagine that Caius is a century older than Aro though. Although I cant picture him over forty years old lol. Although i do personally enjoy the whole Caius x Athenodora route. IT’S TRUE LOVE! Okay so maybe thats a little dramatic but its better than Aro’s lmao.

Marcus: movie Marcus is absolutely not nineteen years old and that's just a fact. If anything, he's the forty year old one lmao. Child me couldn't care about this man. He was the man who said nothing and slumped on a throne. That was Marcus. That was his character summed up. Then adult me rolled in and OMG NO DON'T DO THIS TO THIS SWEET MAN. LET HIM BE IN LOVE. As an adult i definitely became more attached. I feel like i was too young back then to get why Marcus was in the Volturi. He seemed very out of place and like a filler co-leader more than anything. However as i’ve gotten older (and written for him), I recognised that's the point. That’s Marcus’ evident grief. He isn’t there by choice and losing Didyme caused him to fall out of line with the coven. He’s lost point or purpose. Almost like its become meaningless because the love of his life was gone and he couldn't save her.So what was the aims of the Volturi to protect vampire kind when they couldn’t protect their own? He couldnt protect her. I had never heard of anything like bond identification and once i had- i was shook, like it became clear why he had been so necessary in the first place. That really is handy to understand everyones bonds in a coven, he could direct Chelsea and the two alone could destroy covens by bonds alone. Marcus makes the Volturi more realistic in a lot of ways. Like in a family, there is the happy times, goofy people like Felix, the twins representing a close bond. Afton and Chelsea, love that cant be divided. The list really goes on. Marcus represents love and heartbreak, pain, loss grief, the sad moments every family goes through. In that way he makes the coven seem less invincible, a group of people who at the end of the day, have their own weaknesses and immortality doesn’t mean a perfect existence. Especially when, in my opinion, Bella fantasized about immortality and how perfect it would be. Even after her change, she waited for her happy ending because that was somehow guaranteed in some level. Which in the end, she got but not everyone gets that happy ending we all want. I also personally think Marcus is the most feeling of the Volturi, despite being apathetic. A result of heartbreak. It’s shown he can still feel more in his own ways when he voted against Renesmee being destroyed. Furthermore, he advocated that vampire hybrids were a lot like vampires. He made that relation openly before anyone. Its almost as though losing Didyme helped him value a life?

Jane and Alec: Child me thought these two were badass...and that still remains in my adult life. It’s always been uncomfortable to me that someone so young is so sadistic and powerful. Jane is the older twin with the ability of pain illusion...yikes. Her ability was evident in her human life along with Alec’s. His gift is sensory deprivation and these two were my favourites in the whole Saga. Still kind of are if im honest. I thoroughly enjoy the twins backstory. It has the most detail. I have a tag for the twins. Canon!twins is the tag for the twins in their book age. Unless this tag is present, the twins have been aged up :). They are very much canon but I put a bit more emphasis on tantrums. If they get angry, they both have tantrums. So whilst (unless tagged) they aren't children they can be very childish and these tantrums are pretty deadly. They’re also very possessive? I dont even know if thats the right word i’m looking for in all honesty. Lets say they get very attached if they like you. These two are probably the most secluded out of the whole Volturi.

Felix: Felix! High ranking guard due to strength and speed. I am a major supporter of Felix being a gladiator when he was human. He as a lighter grey cloak meaning he isn’t as high ranked but is so good at what he does that he’s been kept for centuries...and a lot of them. Personality? FINALLY, WE’VE GOT ONE WITH PERSONALITY!! (Im writing these out of order and i’ve just finished a chunk of Volturi members who have personalities as invisible as Afton.) Flirtatious and Light hearted, we love flirtatious and light hearted! Basically a comedian! Helllll yes, keep it going! Extremely vicious and highly aggressive? You know what? I still like it. He wouldn’t be a Volturi without a dark side. Cold blooded murderer. Yes. 10/10. Finally, someone Smeyer seems to actually care about. He flirted with Bella a couple of times in the books and i was FOR IT ALL THE WAY. I was very sad i saw none of it in the movies but im used to heartbreak by now. Im in this fandom after all. We were robbed of a lot. Strongest vampire in the world? I believe you, he’s also a hecking treeeeee. HE DO BE A TALL BOI. He actually makes Demetri look small and that’s still hilarious to me. Demetri is actually tall. However, if it isnt obvious we clearly traded backstory for personality. I cant get both smh. So...as i said before I fully believe Felix was a gladiator back in the day, hence his physique and height and excellent fighting abilities he has even as a vampire but then it kind of ends. I will say from the dawn of time, i don’t think Felix is the most academic man, just because of his era. I also think majority of the Volturi couldn’t read of write in their human lives and had to learn much older, most learning as vampires. Felix was one of these vampires, Although even now he isnt the most great at it. Then a wonderful writer known as @wallwriterstuff included it and now it’s canon in my eyes. I fully believe Felix is a slow reader and writing isn’t his strong suit either. Wallwriter also includes the possibility that Felix could be dyslexic which im all for too. For a very long time i’ve considered writing a dyslexic reader with the Volturi but have always hesitated because i don’t have it and wouldn’t want to upset someone for any misunderstandings or inaccuracies. However what i will say is that i think vampires would be the most understanding to humans with dyslexia. Learning things like that in later development or as an adult is difficult and they wouldnt think any less of you for struggling with reading, writing, numeracy- you name it. You’ll probably find they’re with you in the struggle at least half of the time. He’s also the goofball of the Volturi, even though he’s not really a goofball in our eyes, he’s the closest to a goofball out of the whole Volturi ...Emmett beats him in the Goofball wars.

Demetri: Oh yeah, it's Demetri's turn! So Demetri was previously in Amun's coven. When Chelsea gave him the old razzle dazzle...I've said Chelsea's gift so many times at this point it's getting old. I have two characters left after Demetri 😂😂 Anyway, with that Demetri was like "welp, I'm in the Volturi now." And now that they had a better tracker the previous one was kicked out. He isn’t much of a talker, polite and formal. He’s elegant (more graceful than i could ever be) and charming...yeah he is, you can say that AGAIN. He is also very calm, when next to Felix, i think everyone is calm but you know, we’ll say he’s a very calm person. I like how he was originally in the Egyptian coven with Amun. Given Amun’s goals this a pretty nice detail. NOW LETS GO TO MY VERSION. He’s very charming, calm, polite, formal and even a lil’ but quiet, i kept him pretty canon because he actually had a description to go on :)))))))))) Moving on. Demetri can be a very successful flirt when he wants to be and does have a Casanova reputation. However beyond the charming Volturi guard who has a brutal side like the rest of them, he has a chewy centre, deep down. I added that he had a child in his human life, one he doesn’t remember and very few people know about. He remembers that they died of an illness very young (around six?) but can’t remember what they look like. For that reason he doesn’t like talking about his child, he feels awful he doesn’t remember them and the loss still hits a pang in his chest.

Heidi: Alright im ready for this one! Child me didn’t necessarily enjoy Heidi? I was rather passive about her. It was all ‘pretty vampire used for her looks’ in my eyes back then and i was never comfortable with that. I’ll get into my take on Heidi in a moment, roll on the backstory! So Heidi knew Victoria as they used to be coven mates and we’re going to continue on as though Heidi didn’t care when she was killed? Like...its genuinely a burning question in my mind! If she didn't care, could that show the extent of Chelsea’s power in action!? (can we tell im enthusiastic about this coven yet?) It’s quite smart to have someone lure in prey. I wont lie, Heidi has quite the badass role in the coven. I wouldn't have thought about that I reckon. I’ve always thought that showed a kind of superiority. Oh you guys need to hunt your prey? pfft, ours literally comes to us. Her backstory really starts with Heidi being mistreated in her human life...a common theme Smeyer has. It can get old- i wont lie but when i give it some thought it kind of makes sense. Rosalie said it herself in eclipse, if any one of them had their happy ending, they’d be six feet under but i’d love a little bit more creativity. I could go on about how male vampires ended up being changed in comparison to female vampires but i’ll swiftly move on because that’s a whole other thing alone. Heidi was changed out of pity. (Which kinda infuriates me just to type, a pity change? Really? Really Hilda? we’ll see why it annoys me when i explain my take on Heidi.) Heidi was happy in her coven with Hilda, Victoria etc, which is hell yes. We love that. This is around the time she discovered her gift. Vampires were attracted to her and humans fell prey to her easily. Yup okay. I’ll take that. After a newborn vampire caused ‘too much attention’ Aro spared Heidi and Chelsea used her gift on Heidi. Nice, very nice aaaaand that’s where it stops and im left hanging. Personality time with Smeyer! Lets goooo. From what i remember and can find- she didn’t fucking have one. Apparently being pretty is enough for everyone. Which in hindsight, fair enough on a human Bella’s perspective, its literally Heidi’s gift to lure you in no matter what. She could tell you she’s a serial killer (and technically is lmao) and is about to sell your kidneys on the black market as to which you’ll be like ‘sign me the fuck up, want my liver too? Here, let me lie on the table for you. I’m down.’ without even realising what just happened. But even beyond that...Heidi has no personality traits mentioned. In New Moon she appears to be a little flirty which im all for, why the hell not? But...thats it? Thats all I get? Then we get into fanfictions, because i read them growing up. Heidi was depicted as flirtatious, promiscuous and then it varied between manipulative or she wasnt very smart. Which i’m knocking absolutely no one for. I think you can get a badass character who is incredibly dumb. I think all characters are actually valid whether they’re a genius or flat out dumb. I love them all. However it never really sat with me. I was never quite satisfied which i was fine with until i started writing for myself. That’s when i knew i’d have to really think about what my version of Heidi would be or i’d never be happy with my work. That and you also begin to fill in the blanks? The more you write the more you flesh out a character for yourself and so that rolls into my version of Heidi! So for my Heidi, she often gets the same trope of ‘she’s pretty and rich, those types of girls have easy lives who always had everything given to them.’ Then when it’s discovered she didn’t have a good human life. It turns to the next assumption of ‘oh she’s pretty and stupid enough to be used and manipulated’. In a lot of ways, that’s what Heidi wants everyone to think. Underestimate her, please, its all the easier to manipulate you if you do. She’s actually very smart and her rough human life made her more tough and intelligent. She’s very manipulative and yes she’s very flirty. You can look but you cant touch! She enjoys the attention her beauty gets her but if only these people would care more about what she’s like as a person. She’s not a barbie doll she will play you if she needs to. The only one who’s actually gotten far enough to sleep with Heidi is Demetri and even then the two don’t see each other romantically. They’re good friends who thinks the other is very attractive but that's where it ends. They’re basically friends with benefits some times lmao. However, Demetri got that far because he see’s the intellect Heidi actually has and acknowledges it. He thinks shes a queen who should be treated as such. She could take anything she wanted, a storm that people can only hope to survive in one piece. Secretly she enjoys a family setting. Whilst she never really wanted children (especially when she was expected to when human), she couldn't help but melt inside seeing little human children with their loving parents. She wants that for all children. Whether that's because she lacked such affection growing up, no one knows. She’s also a really good friend, you bet she’ll have your back. Crappy ex? Well we’ll show them, wont we (Y/N)? She’ll be a bitch and enjoy every second of it. She also loves the single life, believe it or not, you’ll have more difficulty getting Heidi to settle down than you would Demetri which speaks volumes. So yeah, move past her gift and really get to know her and you might have a very good friend. I also don’t see Heidi having a preference between male or females and that’s in all honesty. Times have changed and if she is attracted to another female then she wont be ashamed of it. She never has been (Demetri was the first to figure that out, Felix may be the last.) Even when the times weren’t approving of different sexualities, she didn't care. She will flirt with you and find it ridiculously cute if you get flustered.

Sulpicia: Sulpicia was an orphan which i used to develop my own version of her. Sulpicia grew to love Aro which im on the fence about but yup, i’ll take it. You’ll see what happens with my version in a bit lmao. and that’s where it stops. I get no personality again but do you know what we do in this fandom? We create one and fill in the blanks baby! So i write Sulpicia very materialistic and vain, she’s most snobbish of the wives and due to the other two, also considered the meaner one. She didnt have such things as a child being an orphan so when she got the opportunity to have it-she jumped. She isnt easily impressed and married Aro not for love but for immortality, money and status. (He’s only married you for your money, princess Jasmine! HE ONLY MARRIED YOU FOR YOUR MONEY! Damn it tik tok, but make it princess Aro) Which works well, because Aro doesnt necessarily love her either, he just wanted a mate so he wasnt the odd one out.He literally created her because he was like “Yup, you’ll do.” The two recognised they made a great team and image so they kinda grew to love each other? A little bit? Sure we’ll say its love...sorta. ANYWAY, It’s a highlight to Sulpicia being locked in that tower where she doesnt need to see Aro every little moment, it’s better than having a husband who she’d need to see everyday. ...Yeah my Sulpicia is something else lmao.

Athenodora: Athenodora is one of the oldest vampires in existence which kinda has me shook but I'll take it. She met Caius when he was fleeing from the Romanians, the two travelled together until they met Aro. Whilst on their nomadic travels they seemingly became mates. That's all we know about that. As to which the Volturi coven was made. Athenodora is completely loyal to Caius as well as highly dependent on him and I think that's very realistic given her circumstances. That's where their story ends...maybe for Smeyer but not for me! 😁 So I picture Caius and Athenodora being different sides of the same coin. Athenodora really mellows Caius, she is no where near is violent and sadistic as he is but due to her unwavering loyalty and dependency, she doesn't feel inclination to go against him...also because of Chelsea and Corin but I've said that so many times in this post I think we get the point. I think she's actually more gentle and soft spoken but that being said. She is very reserved and if she were to be angered she'd very much change. She could cut you down with words alone. Caius loves it. However beyond this is someone who is very maternal. Caius would appreciate it more if the two had children but instead it has created empathy. Caius doesn't want that when he can rip their head off. She struggles a little more with the 'no second chances' and that's another reason why Caius keeps her locked away and away from it. These two love each other more than words can describe. After being through so much with someone, the love can only grow. The two would happily risk their life for the other. Caius is saddened that he could never give her the family she wanted. He knows that to this day, Athenodora tries to reign in that side of her. He's a very supportive husband who's very different around his wife. He's much more tolerant, and angry. Simply more at ease. If anything happened to Athenodora, to put it simply...there would be hell to pay.

Didyme: Married to Marcus and Aro’s biological sister. Cute, me likely, keepy going. Her gift was happiness induction. VERY ADORABLE- Dont be as menacing as your brother...please. She was born several years after Aro and was changed by Aro ten and a half years after he was turned. (Dont tease me with all this lore Smeyer, I know what you’re gonna do) Aro was deeply disappointed her gift was just to make people happy- its okay Didyme, we love you. Aro is just...Aro. Her gift made many fall in love with her and its so freaking cute i CANT- but she only felt the same feelings for Marcus. MY HEART IS SO WARMMMM. Unfortunately they were so happy together that they lost interest in anything Volturi and were ready to leave. (Uh oh.) Aro, being the sneaky fellow he is, was like “I’m really happy for y’all of course you can leave. I love you my babies. My best friend and my sisterrrrrrr, I am the captain of this SHIP.” but was actually like “wait, no, no, no, not my Marcus. D-D-Did-Didyme I NEED him.” Think Sid the Sloth from ice age in the first movie when Sid really wants the baby. So this man is like...gonna have to do it to em and murder. He killed Didyme secretly (dunno how he pulled the secret part off- like i know how he did it but how did no one hear or see anything or even suspect anything IT WAS LITERAL FRIENDLY FIRE but we love the drama so continue.) Ironically enough she was very close with Aro and the two actually did love each other, Aro is just...murderous apparently, to the extent that even his sister isnt safe. And that’s it. That’s Didyme. Which im like...alright Smeyer i see you. I like this and expanded on this with my Didyme. i get the vibes that Didyme is the most innocent and kind of all the Volturi. Losing her meant losing the consciousness within the Volturi making them all the more ruthless because there was no one to say. “Guys, maybe lets rethink this? and quickly because i cant get Caius to put down the torch thats currently on fire.” Losing Didyme made Marcus mostly become passive and would rarely stop anything that happened. I often wonder if that provoked a lot of guilt for Marcus later on. (However thats a spoiler for something im currently writing...;) ) I also think of her as a major daydreamer and the most soft, gentle person anyone will ever meet. Like its difficult not to like her despite being in the Volturi, even the Romanians would have struggled if they met her. So in the long run...i hate nothing about Didyme, only find more and more love lmao.

Corin: So im going to be honest and tell you i have no idea what Corin would look like. I’ve got nothing and when i was younger i wasnt even sure if Corin was male or female. Like a lot of these names, i had never heard of the name ‘Corin’. I dont write for her as of yet because im still trying to figure her out. I think she’s quite quiet, she lets her gift do most of the work for her in keeping the wives, Chelsea and Caius when he doesnt get to go on a rampage, content. She was brought in also after Didyme died but Marcus refused her gift.That’s all i’ve got for her. Her gift is amazing, pretty underrated in my personal opinion since like Chelsea, she really helps keep the Volturi unified but other than that, I dont have much to say about her. :(

Afton: Another character i basically filled the blanks in for myself. So what we’re told is that he’s Chelsea’s mate and has the ability to disappear . Whilst thats a pretty cool trick...the volturi dont necessarily need it but they have to keep Chelsea happy and she demands that Afton stays so welcome to the family Afton! I also recently learned that if you hide behind Afton and he goes invisible infront of an opponent, you too will also be invisible. I figure that is until the opponent moves and basically changes their perspective but i could be wrong with that last part. That’s all we get so time for my unnecessary input! SO AFTON IS A TOTAL SWEETHEART. He’s very shy but polite. This is a complete opposite to his mate Chelsea. It’s actually what she liked about him. At first is was just be flirtatious to the shy vampire but when she actually got to know him... she fell hard. It was also Chelsea who had made the first move since Afton was so shy. Of course she’d never say so and Afton would never want to embarrass her so that was never really disclosed to anyone who wasn’t around at that time. She brings Afton out of his shell a lot and it wasn’t long before the two were mates. Chelsea is the light of his life. Hands down. He puts up with a lot for her and is happy to do so. She could ask anything of him and he’d do it and she doesn’t even need to use her gift. He buys are anything she wants almost instantly. He cant help but adore her passionate personality, like how hooked she can get on era’s such as the 1920′s, her love for jazz music and her ability to gush on and on about anything. The two had what the other lacked and that made them an excellent team. I love their relationship. I cant help it. However, as i said before Afton is very shy and tends to keep to himself. Sadly that, paired with Chelsea’s demand to keep him in the Volturi has left Afton a little bit outcasted. All the other permanent guards were wanted and considered important whilst Afton...not so much. Although that isn’t to say the other guards are mean to him or anything. They aren’t! (Except the twins who are...the twins.) Felix and Demetri tried to include him a lot but it was very difficult to break him out of his shell. That doesn’t mean to say they wont invite Afton when he’s around. Chelsea always appreciates their efforts. Afton is notably good friends with Santiago, who often preferred solitude as well.

Chelsea: So supposedly Chelsea’s original name is Charmion? When i was younger i didnt really care much about her. I only really knew her gift and that she was the reason Afton was kept in the Volturi, since they were mates. From what im aware Chelsea basically wasnt in the movies/not identified. There wasnt much said about her in the books either. So since then i’ve kind of developed my own persona of Chelsea that could be completely inaccurate to canon but canon was my foundations with characters like these. She was always a red head in my eyes with ringlets, a copper kind of red head. I also pictured her to be small. However the newest addition to her character would have to be the mid-Atlantic accent. I blame Poppy Hill for this one. That character screamed Chelsea to me. She was very close to how i imagine Chelsea to be. So now Chelsea has an accent that i have no clue how she managed to maintain being in Italy so long and being born in Greece. LMAO. We’ll say she was very attached to that time. However, I think the time she joined the Volturi was actually very good for the story. She first came around just after Marcus had lost Didyme and Aro had her use her ability to keep Marcus in the coven. it’s really cool how she could really make or break the coven. Although, Aro was smart enough to not fully rely on her, using Corin’s ability on Chelsea to make sure she’d be happy and stay within the Volturi. Thats where the information on Chelsea really ends Over the years Chelsea has appeared in my writing and so beyond this point, Chelsea’s character is only my depiction. I figure Chelsea is a talker, like she can talk her way in and out of situations with ease. She enjoys being manipulated and even more so, being needed.Much like her gift, she gets under people’s skin- not in terms that she’s annoying but more so she can figure out people very well. Her mate is the complete opposite and so she often speaks on the behalf of them. Chelsea is very social and charismatic. She along with Heidi are the only two Volturi members who will be out and interacting with humans if necessary. Heidi for her ability but Chelsea purely for her social skills. She’s also the most interested in human culture. She loves the parties- the 1920′s being her favourite era in terms of fashion. She has no issue changing her name and has done so multiple times when the names run out of fashion.It’s like playing dress up! I’d actually love to write more about her. I’ve really grown to love her character, even if i filled in some blanks for myself. I think she and Afton’s relationship is one of the best, up there with Carlisle and Esme- despite the two being very different. It’s a part of their dynamic!

Renata: A stressed little bean that lives on stress. I remember thinking when i was younger she was the big threat since she was Aro’s shield but now that im older i see...a stressed little five foot bean. I have no idea what she looks like but always imagine her dark hair tied in a tight bun, looking almost painful. Another who wears heels, like Heidi but she is very rigid just as she has been described. Her uncle is a bit of an ass considering he begged her to go with the Volturi so there wouldn’t be a threat. Dude, can you not just...hand over your niece? At least hesitate! Just like that, thanks to Chelsea, she’d give her life to protect Aro and...I have nothing else. Yes it does drive me mad that there are two named guards i know next to nothing about.

Santiago:So what’s known about Santiago is that he doesn’t actually have an ability. He’s just very good at battle techniques and fighting which is why he’s kept around. If they need fighters, they’re top three are Felix, Demetri and Santiago...in that order. Santiago is also much faster than a regular vampire (as shown in breaking dawn part 2- he caught up to Jacob and Renesmee quite fast despite the two having a running start and wolves supposedly being very fast- much like a vampire) That’s all we know of him so then i got in there and this is how I write Santiago. I gave him the background of coming from a superstitious family. Like he would be told tales of demons and witches growing up as well as things like voodoo. He knew an awful lot of urban legends and whilst he stopped believing in the bad luck his family taught him, he still held interest and couldn’t help the instinct of unease when witnessing such things as rituals. It’s ironic really. However Santiago always deems that humans have it all wrong. These forces are beyond human understanding and shouldn’t be played with. In that way, perhaps Santiago still has some belief in things such as superstition. He’s very secretive about it and would never clarify it for you. Santiago keeps to himself and can be quite standoffish. He can also be blunt even if it’s insulting- he doesn’t tend to care. Although he and Afton became quite good friends since the Afton was an outcast and Santiago didn’t enjoy large groups, or most people in general.

The second time JJ kisses Alex in front of the team, they’re in a hotel lobby winding down after a long case. Their relationship is fairly new, and while they shared a hotel room together on most cases, the team often forgot about their budding romance — they tried to keep it as professional as they could. JJ looks up from her phone and notices Alex — the way her glasses are slipping down her nose and her hair is falling out of her messy bun — before leaning across the table, finger hooking under Alex’s chin and pressing their lips together.

The case had wrapped up earlier than expected, the unsub behind bars and paperwork finished before dinner time — a welcome change, especially given the downtime they would have before they flew home in the morning. Instead of sitting in their hotel rooms, the team was spread across the lobby engrossed in various activities waiting for their pizza to arrive.

JJ was sitting in an armchair across from Alex, a small table between them filled with cups of coffee that had long since gone cold and a bag of gummy bears — a guilty pleasure treat she and Alex both loved. The lobby was buzzing with murmurs of conversation, but nothing she could really decipher.

Reid and Morgan were playing a card game that was too confusing for the rest of the team — too many rules they didn’t feel like expending the energy to learn —but JJ enjoyed watching the way Spencer’s eyes lit up behind his shaggy hair for just a second every time Morgan deliberately played a card that would give Reid an advantage. She could hear the faint murmur of Rossi’s voice, glanced over as he was gesturing something to Hotch, miming a bowl and mixing. Shaking her head, she let out a breathy laugh, knew it had something to do with cooking — Rossi’s only passion other than cigars and his job.

She looked down at her phone again, a small smile tugging the corners of her lips upwards when she received a text from Penelope with an innuendo about her and Blake and sharing a room — thank the tech goddess for the hotel mysteriously having a king sized bed available for them instead of two doubles. JJ laughed softly before looking across the table at Alex, breath catching in her throat.

The sight of Alex out of her typical work clothes — slacks, a blouse, and blazer that was often accented with her Kevlar vest — was enough to steal the air from JJ’s lungs. She was stunning in a way that JJ had never noticed before, relaxed and unguarded. She smiled a little wider, breathed a bit deeper, laughed a touch louder, and JJ felt so lucky to get to see this side of her — glasses on, wearing an oversized sweatshirt and leggings paired with a pair of ugg boots that JJ would have never imagined the other woman owning.

Her hair was gathered haphazardly in a messy bun, strands already having slipped free from the hair tie they were constrained in and framing her face. Every few seconds she blew a sharp puff of air through her pursed lips, blowing the lock of hair out of her vision before it promptly fell into her line of sight again.

JJ laughed softly, a low chuckle rumbling in her chest as she watched Alex exhale again, eyes crossing in her glasses as she stared at the stubborn lock of hair. She stood, leaning over the table carefully before brushing the hair out of Alex’s face, fingers gentle as she tucked the strand back up into the bun atop her head before sitting back down, a soft, shy smile playing on her lips.

The room fell silent aside from the low chatter from the television and ruffling sound coming from the table opposite them as Morgan idly shuffled the deck of cards in his hand. The rest of the team was staring at them, Spencer’s mouth agape as his eyes darted between JJ and Alex.

“What?” There was a soft blush coloring JJ’s cheeks, and she knew without looking that Alex’s face was a bright red color.

“That — you — what’s going on?” He was sputtering his words out, eyes wide and filled with a confused glint. “You never let anyone touch you!”

Everyone knew that statement was directed at Alex, having always been one to shy away from physical contact from anyone who wasn’t JJ. Their love language was acts of service and physical touch, but no one on the team would know it if they didn’t watch them carefully — watched the way JJ’s fingertips grazed Alex’s elbow before they stormed a house, or saw how Alex would protectively guide JJ behind her in a dangerous situation.

Alex cleared her throat, looking up over the thick dark frames of her glasses before smiling gently in JJ’s direction. Her knees were tucked up into her sweatshirt and JJ felt her heart flutter at the sight, at the way the book was nearly dwarfed in all of the extra material gathered in her lap.

“I don’t mind being touched when it’s Jennifer.”

The simple affirmation made JJ blush once more, eyes downcast and pretending to be engrossed in her phone again as she tried to avoid any other questions. It occurred to her that other than Hotch, Rossi, and Penelope, the rest of the team had no clue they were even together, let alone carrying on a relationship behind closed doors. She didn’t want to push Alex into something she didn’t want to do — not when she wasn’t ready — and there was no need for it to affect their work life anyways.

Alex’s answer seemed to appease Spencer, who shrugged his shoulders and turned back to Morgan and their card game. After a few moments, the room returned to its normal rumble of conversation, Hotch laughing loudly as Rossi dramatically re-enacted how one of his dishes burnt traumatically in the oven moments before a dinner party — it was one that JJ could recognize and found herself laughing at, even though she could only make out every few words of the story.

She looked back at Alex, already back to being engrossed in her novel, eyes darting across the pages as she was sucked into the fictional world of Jane Eyre. She had told JJ one night — cuddled together under a hotel blanket staring into the darkness, unable to sleep because of the horrors they had seen that day — that it was one of her favorite novels, always able to drift away to the world of Edward Fairfax Rochester.

Her ugg boots were kicked off, feet adorning mismatched polka dotted socks that made JJ’s heart flutter. Alex’s toes wiggled as she read, mouth silently moving, breathing out each word as her eyes flicked across the page. It was endearing to JJ, watching the way she read and absorbed herself in the fictional world — periodically glancing up at JJ with a slightly dazed gleam in her eyes that she could only attribute to being so engrossed in her novel.

After a moment, she looked across the table at JJ, lips twitching up in a soft smile. It was almost shy, having felt JJ’s gaze directed towards her, felt like it was burning a hole in the top of her head.

“Whatever are you looking at, Jennifer?”

“You.”

JJ’s lips were curved up in a goofy smile, tongue peeking out between her lips. She studied Alex’s form a little longer — a little more carefully — took in the way her hands were dwarfed by the sheer size of her sleeves, the way her knees tucked up into her sweatshirt and mismatched socked toes wiggling.

She stood, leaned across the table until her nose was brushing Alex’s, hooked her finger under the older woman’s chin and gently nudged her upwards until their eyes locked. JJ pressed her lips against Alex’s, humming gently against her lips and let her hand move to cup her cheek, thumb rubbing against her skin as she felt Alex grin against her lips.

After a moment, JJ pulled back and settled in her seat again, fully aware that the rest of the team was staring at them. In that moment, she couldn’t bring herself to care, only focused on the way Alex’s lips curved up in a goofy smile, eyes gleaming with a playful glint.

“What was that for?”

“Just because. You can go back to reading your book now.”
