A Catalan verb I love: formiguejar.

It means "to teem" or "to swarm". The verb comes from the word formiga ("ant" 🐜), and it evokes the constant busy movement of ants, up and down all day without stop.

The poet Jacint Verdaguer used this verb in this verse from his poem Plus Ultra:

L’univers és infinit, pertot acaba i comença, i ençà, enllà, amunt i avall, la immensitat és oberta, I a on tu veus lo desert eixams de mons formiguegen.

Here I attempt to translate it to English:

The universe is infinite, it ends and starts everywhere, and since, further up there, up and down, the immensity is open, And there where you see the desert, swarms of worlds teem.

Verdaguer was a master in creating this mental images. In this case, I love how these two lines ("and there where you see the desert / swarms of worlds teem") because the verb is very descriptive of this view, that seems still and quiet to us, but if we were to take a close look, we would see thousands in constant movement, at a minuscule scale maybe, but with no stop.

Jacint Verdaguer is one of the most beloved Catalan poets of all times. He lived in the 19th century and was very involved in the Catalan revival movement, defending Catalan folk culture and language. He was also deeply religious and became a Catholic priest since an early age.

The poem Plus Ultra was published after Verdaguer's death in 1903.

Région plongée dans un hiver éternel, elle est jalonnée de fjords enneigés, de cavernes de glaces, et de monts rocheux. C’est ici que vit le Cercle de Givre, mais que l’on trouve également la Tour de l’Abjuration. Les Montagnes de Givres sont la région la plus froide du royaume de Mythralis. Si c’est ici que sont formés les Fay à l’art de l’abjuration - c'est-à-dire la magie qui annule toute magie -, la région n’est pas dépourvue de magie. On y trouve des créatures irréelles et fantastiques, à la manière des panthères à dents de sabre, des trolls de glace et d’autres créatures. Hjalmarstad, sa capitale, est une forteresse forgée à même la montagne de laquelle on peut observer l'étendue des territoires de Mythralis.

Plaines du Destin — domaine mystique A l'ouest du royaume, situées juste au Nord des Marais de l'Eclipse se trouvent les Plaines du Destin. Une région couverte de plaines mais également des plateaux, qui abritent en leur sein des canyons. De nombreux cristaux servant aux rituels magiques proviennent de cette région, dont les gisements sont importants. Les plaines, tantôt couvertes d’herbes épaisses ou de pierres rouges coiffent le territoire qui semble s’étendre à perte de vue. Les cieux nocturnes voient danser des aurores parmi les étoiles, donnant à la région une aura mystique et irréelle. La capitale du territoire se nomme Wiyakapa, et est le fief du Cercle du Destin. La Tour Mystique se trouve dans cette région, au cœur même d’un canyon, rendant son accès difficile pour qui ne sait pas voyager sur ces terres.

Marais de l'Eclipse — domaine interdit Entre les Montagnes de Givre et les Plaines du Destin, se trouve le Marais de l’éclipse. Région damnée et interdite, elle abritait autrefois les membres du Cercle de L’éclipse. Autrefois, la végétation y était abondante et les nombreux marais formaient un territoire mystérieux et solaire. Pourtant, depuis un millénaire désormais, le territoire est désormais cauchemardesque. Il est baigné continuellement dans un brouillard intense et obscur, de nombreuses créatures mortelles y ont élu domicile, comme des goules, des morts-vivants et des hydres. C’était ici, qu’on trouvait la Tour de la Mort, où les Fay apprenaient la magie du même nom, aujourd’hui interdite. La capitale de l’éclipse se nommait Ciembramor. La majorité des membres du Cercle de l'Eclipse se sont dispersés dans les différents territoires de Fae'Alas.

Désert des Etoiles — domaine d'ishtari Au Sud du Royaume, mais également des Plaines du Destin se trouve le territoire des membres du Cercle des Étoiles. Région désertique, couverte de sables fins où les journées sont très chaudes et les nuits très froides. La région, pourtant, possède le ciel le plus dégagé de tout le Royaume et on raconte que c’est de ses cieux, que l’on peut le plus admirer les étoiles. L’environnement du Désert des étoiles est impitoyable et si le sable semble s’étendre à perte de vue, il est également le domaine de nombreuses créatures dangereuses. La majorité des villes et villages se regroupent autour des cours d'eau qui sillonnent la région, ou près des mers. Les habitations et bâtiments sont construits en pierre, principalement avec du calcaire, du grès et du granite rose. La capitale du Désert se nomme Najmabad, et il s’agit d’une des cités les plus grandiose du continent. C’est dans cette région que l’on trouve le Temple de la Lune, le plus grand temple en l'honneur d'Ishtari du royaume où sont formées les Pythies.

Archipel Astral — domaine de la vie Au Nord-Est du royaume, détaché du continent, se trouve l’Archipel Astral. Il tire son nom de ses plages fabuleuses qui, la nuit, créent des ondulations aux couleurs violettes, bleues et vertes semblables aux aurores. L’archipel Astral est sous la juridiction du Cercle Astral, et c’est dans cette région que l’on trouve la Tour de la Vie. Ici, les membres du Cercle vivent en communion avec les esprits de la nature, qu’ils considèrent comme leurs égaux. La jungle fait partie du décor, ainsi que les mangroves.  Région tropicale, l’humidité y est importante et quasi omniprésente. Les villages de la région sont construits principalement en bois, arrachés à la jungle (manguier, etc) et les habitations sont en pagodes. Les villes, elles, sont fortifiées en pierres datant de plusieurs millénaires. La capitale de l’Archipel se nomme Angkoraï.

Îles Célestes — domaine des éléments On trouve la dernière région du royaume, tout au Sud de ce dernier.  Il s’agit d’îles flottantes, bordées par l'Océan Crépusculaire et le Triangle du Kraken. Malgré leur haute altitude, les Îles Célestes sont balayées par des vents magiques chauds, qui permettent aux habitants de vivre au sein d’un climat tempéré. Le seul moyen d’atteindre les Îles Célestes est par les airs, ces dernières n’étant absolument pas connectées à la terre ferme. La capitale du territoire se nomme Avalon. C’est ici que se trouve la Tour des Éléments, où les Fay apprennent la magie élémentaire.

Généralités — Langues — Les habitants de Mythralis parlent principalement la langue ancienne ainsi que la langue commune. Peu de dialectes régionaux subsistent au sein de la Cour Seelie.

Éducation — Les Seelies et Demi-Seelies apprennent l'art de la magie au sein des Tours Lunaires, nommées selon le Domaine qui y est enseigné au sein des différentes régions de Mythralis. La magie de la Cour Seelie n'étant ni héréditaire, ni choisie, de nombreux Fay et hybrides doivent quitter leur foyer de leur sept ans à leurs vingt ans pour parfaire leur éducation magique dans une autre région que celle d'origine. Les humains ayant vécus au sein du royaume de Mythralis étaient éduqués par les Pythies au sein des différents villages et cités du royaume, de leurs sept ans à leurs dix-huit ans.

Religion — Si toutes les divinités sont vénérés au sein de Mythralis, c'est Ishtari qui prédomine. Les Mythraliens ne suivent pas les règles de la Chantrie, et considèrent que tous les Evanuris ont leur place au sein du panthéon et qu'ils dirigent chacun des domaines différents. Pour autant, Ishtari est considérée comme la mère des Fay et pour cette raison, elle possède une place de choix au sein des mœurs religieuses de la Cour Seelie.

La religion est aux mains des Pythies, des Fay et Demi-Fay considérés comme ayant un lien proche avec le divin et la spiritualité. Iels guident et conseillent le peuple de manière spirituelle, les Grandes Pythies officiant aux côtés des Reines de Mythralis, tandis que les Pythies parcourent les différentes régions pour maintenir l'harmonie.

Classes sociales — Au contraire de l'Empire de Vesperia, la noblesse Mythralienne se retrouve seulement au sein des familles royales. Il n'existe donc pas de familles vassales, et tout individu qui partage du sang royal est nommé Prince ou Princesse. Malgré tout, les classes sociales restent présentes au sein de Mythralis, et forment de la même manière que dans l'Empire, une pyramide.

On retrouve donc : — Les Reines des différents Cercles, (dirigeantes d'un cercle.) — Les Grandes Pythies, puis le reste du corps religieux. (guide spirituels) — Les Princes et Princesses de Mythralis. (membres des familles royales) — Les soldats. (membres des différentes armées des cercles.) — Les archimages. (chercheurs et professeurs) — Le peuple.

Politique — La société de Mythralis est d’ordre matriarcal et les titres royaux sont transmis à l’aînée de genre féminin. Si Mythralis est considéré comme un seul et unique royaume, il possède cependant six reines (sept à l'origine). Ces reines dirigent leur territoire et leur armée selon leur bon vouloir. Une coalition existe cependant entre les différentes reines depuis la Guerre du Sang, survenue un millénaire plus tôt. Les Reines sont en haut de la hiérarchie de leurs cercle, viennent ensuite les Princesses et les Princes. Chaque reine possède un·e conseiller·e, nommé·e Grand·e Pythie. Si les reines dirigent leur peuple et le corps armé, les Grand·es Pythies sont celleux qui le dirigent de manière spirituelle.

Are we counting new chapters? Nah, let's not include those. How do we define a sentence? We'll do "to the first period." (I'm not sorry.)

Pearl Houzuki(octoling, she/her): Normal role. Uses an Inkbrush. Was formerly an Octoweapon with "sonic amplification powers" known as 17839 that escaped after the events of Octo Valley. Was found by Marina on Mount Nantai, and was taken in by a loving single father after a bit. Apparently has a “lab-bro” who is assumed to be a fellow Octoweapon. CURRENT STATUS: ALIVE, ON TOUR.

Marina Ida (inkling, she/her): Normal role. Uses a Splatling. Was a huge tech geek in her youth. Was a key helper in getting Pearl to open up to Inkling society. Still maintains the chat rooms for the Agents. CURRENT STATUS: ALIVE, ON TOUR.

Cephalopunks

Callie(inkling, she/her): Takes the role of Shiver. Uses a Roller. Was given the title of Agent 1 by her grandfather in her youth, but has never acted against the brainwashed Octarians in combat. However, that doesn't mean she doesn't help them once they're free from the brainwashing. She's good friends with their band's head of security, after all...

Marie (inkling, she/her): Takes the role of Frye. Uses a Charger. Was given the title of Agent 2 by her grandfather, but like her cousin, prefers to focus on helping the formerly brainwashed rather than fighting the currently brainwashed. She's good at recognizing those with trauma, hence her concern for the third member of the Cephalopunks...

"Wasa-B" (octarian, he/him): Takes the role of Big Man. No one's ever seen what he looks like (save his bandmates) but Wasa-B is renowned for his impeccable skill at DJing. It's like he's been practicing for over half a century. Who knows? He apparently doesn't. Something messed with his memory recall, and every time he is asked about it, he goes silent before mumbling about "dark... can't think... clean...", and the other band members have to snap him out of his daze...
