It was so fucked up of plvspw to make Phoenix think Maya was dead for a good chunk of the game I can’t get over it. Randomly remembered it, looked at the bad pictures I had taken and died all over again. What the fuck was that why would you do that

If I remember the context for this one, it’s that Luke and Espella were trying to talk but he was completely spaced out looking depressed like that. This is right after Maya "dies" I think

The Anatomy of Punching a Character in the Face
Tumblr media
Punching scenes are a staple of action sequences in many genres. Whether it’s an intense brawl, a quick defense, or an emotional outburst, a punch can carry a lot of weight both physically and narratively. As a writer, it’s essential to understand what really happens when a fist meets a facefrom the immediate impact to the longer-lasting effects on both the person getting punched and the one throwing the punch.
This guide will help you craft authentic, detailed, and believable punch scenes by exploring different areas of the face, types of punches, and the aftermath of such an impact.
1. Target Areas of the Face and Their Vulnerabilities
A punch isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation. Depending on where the fist lands, the consequences will vary significantly. Different parts of the face have varying levels of vulnerability, and targeting these areas produces different effects, from knockouts to broken bones.
A. Jawline: The Knockout Zone
The jawline is a classic target in many fight scenes, especially when knockout punches are involved. This area is highly vulnerable because a hit here causes the head to snap to the side, leading to a sharp rotational movement of the brain inside the skull. This movement disrupts the brain’s communication and often results in a temporary loss of consciousness—what we commonly refer to as a "knockout."
Common Effects: Dislocation or fracture of the jaw, loss of consciousness, slurred speech, and severe pain.
Visual Aftermath: Swelling around the jawline, bruising, and possible misalignment of the jaw if broken.
B. Nose: Breaking and Bleeding
The nose is another vulnerable target, known for being easily broken. It’s not just a fragile bone structure, but it’s also connected to many blood vessels, meaning a direct punch to the nose often results in immediate bleeding. The nasal bone can fracture, causing difficulty in breathing, and in some cases, the nose may need surgical intervention to reset.
Common Effects: Intense pain, bleeding, difficulty breathing, potential for a broken nose.
Visual Aftermath: Blood running from the nostrils, swelling, and significant bruising around the nose and eyes.
C. Cheekbones (Zygomatic Bones): Bruising and Fractures
The cheekbones are one of the more solid structures in the face but are still susceptible to breaks, particularly from a heavy blow. Damage here can lead to not just bruising, but potentially severe injuries that can affect the entire facial structure.
Common Effects: Fractures of the zygomatic bone, swelling, bruising, and pain extending to the eye socket.
Visual Aftermath: Black eyes, noticeable swelling on one side of the face, and a sunken appearance if the bone is fractured.
D. Forehead: A Hard Target
The forehead is much harder than most parts of the face and is less vulnerable to severe damage. However, punches to the forehead can still cause pain, disorientation, and dazing of the recipient. While it’s less likely to result in a knockout, it’s effective in dazing an opponent, especially if the puncher’s goal is to create an opening for another strike.
Common Effects: Swelling, redness, and potential concussions if hit with enough force.
Visual Aftermath: Redness, minimal bruising, and a dazed expression.
E. Eyes: Black Eyes and Swelling
A punch to the eyes is particularly brutal because the area around the eyes is delicate, and the skin is thin. It’s not just about swelling but also potential damage to the orbital bones. The impact can cause "black eyes," characterized by intense bruising and swelling that may close the eye shut for days.
Common Effects: Swelling, black eyes, potential orbital bone fractures, temporary blurred vision.
Visual Aftermath: Discoloration that starts purple and turns yellowish-green as it heals, swollen shut eyes.
2. Types of Punches
Not all punches are created equal. The type of punch thrown can drastically change the outcome of the scene, both in terms of damage and realism. Understanding these different types of punches will allow you to convey more varied and dynamic fight sequences.
A. Jab: Speed and Precision
A jab is a quick, straight punch, usually thrown with the non-dominant hand. It’s not meant to be a knockout punch but more of a setup punch to create an opening or keep the opponent at a distance. Jabs are fast and can be disorienting, especially if they repeatedly land in quick succession.
Common Effects: Light bruising, potential cuts, and swelling in the area hit.
B. Cross: Power and Impact
The cross is a powerful, straight punch delivered with the dominant hand. It’s often aimed at vulnerable spots like the jaw or nose. Unlike a jab, the cross is meant to deliver a significant amount of force, and when landed properly, it can cause serious damage.
Common Effects: Knockouts, broken bones, severe swelling, and bruising.
C. Hook: Lateral Devastation
A hook is a wide, circular punch that targets the side of the head, particularly the jaw or temple. It’s one of the most powerful punches and is often used with the intent of knocking the opponent out.
Common Effects: Knockouts, severe disorientation, potential for concussions, and jaw dislocations.
D. Uppercut: Lifting from Below
The uppercut is thrown upward, usually aimed at the chin. It’s a devastating punch that can lift the opponent’s head and jolt their brain, leading to knockouts. Uppercuts are especially dangerous when they land cleanly on the jaw or chin.
Common Effects: Knockouts, broken teeth, jaw fractures, and disorientation.
E. Haymaker: Risky but Powerful
A haymaker is a wild, swinging punch delivered with as much force as possible. It’s often thrown with reckless abandon and is easy to dodge, but if it connects, it can deal significant damage. Because of its wide arc, it leaves the puncher exposed to counterattacks.
Common Effects: Knockouts, severe bruising, and possible fractures if landed correctly.
3. Punch Wounds: What They Look Like and Healing
Punches to the face leave lasting marks, some immediately visible and others taking days to fully form. Understanding the aftermath of a punch will help you describe the physical toll on your characters more accurately.
A. Immediate Effects
Swelling and Redness: Swelling can begin almost instantly, particularly in areas with soft tissue like the eyes and lips.
Bruising: Bruises start off as red, then turn purple, blue, and eventually fade into yellow or green as they heal.
Bleeding: Punches to the nose, lips, and even cheeks can result in bleeding, either from the skin breaking or from internal damage like a broken nose.
B. Long-Term Injuries
Black Eyes: Punches near the eyes can lead to bruising that darkens the skin around the eyes, giving it a purplish hue.
Fractures: Broken bones, such as the nose or jaw, may require weeks to heal, and in severe cases, surgery may be necessary.
Scarring: If the skin is cut open, there’s the potential for scarring, especially if stitches are required.
C. Healing Process
Bruises: These typically take about a week to two weeks to heal, with the colors shifting as the body absorbs the blood trapped under the skin.
Fractures: Healing from fractures can take several weeks to months, depending on the severity.
Swelling: Swelling can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days, with cold compresses helping to reduce it.
4. How the Punch Affects the Puncher
While we often focus on the person receiving the punch, it’s important to remember that throwing a punch can also take a toll on the puncher.
A. Physical Strain
Knuckle Damage: Hitting a hard surface, like a jaw or forehead, can cause damage to the puncher’s knuckles. This is known as a “boxer’s fracture,” where the small bones in the hand break due to impact.
Wrist Injury: If the punch is not aligned correctly, the wrist can absorb too much force, leading to sprains or breaks.
Fatigue: After multiple punches, especially in a drawn-out fight, the puncher can become fatigued, leading to less powerful or accurate strikes.
B. Emotional and Psychological Effects
Adrenaline Rush: For inexperienced fighters, throwing a punch can lead to an adrenaline surge, which can cause tunnel vision or reckless behavior.
Moral Conflict: If the puncher is not used to violence, they may experience guilt or shock at the damage they’ve caused, especially if the recipient is significantly injured.
5. Psychological Impact of Receiving a Punch
A punch to the face doesn’t only cause physical damage. For the recipient, it can have a lasting psychological effect, especially if the punch was unexpected or in a vulnerable situation. Writing this aspect adds depth to your characters and shows that a punch is more than just physical pain.
A. Shock and Fear
Fight or Flight Response: Getting punched can immediately trigger a fight-or-flight reaction. Some characters might freeze or retreat, especially if they’ve never been in a physical altercation before.
Loss of Confidence: For characters not used to violence, being punched in the face may cause a significant loss of confidence. They may question their own strength, bravery, or ability to defend themselves.
Increased Aggression: Alternatively, the punch may trigger a rage-fueled response, pushing the character into aggressive, reckless action.
B. Embarrassment and Humiliation
Public Fights: If the punch occurs in front of others, there’s often an added layer of humiliation. Characters might feel embarrassed, even if they weren’t at fault.
Internalizing the Event: The recipient of the punch may carry the emotional impact for a long time, replaying the event in their mind, feeling shame, or seeking revenge.
C. Post-Traumatic Stress
Lingering Anxiety: In extreme cases, receiving a punch can cause anxiety or even post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Characters who’ve experienced significant trauma might relive the event through flashbacks or become hyper-vigilant, avoiding confrontations in the future.
Fear of Future Confrontations: A character who’s been severely beaten might actively avoid scenarios where they could be hit again, making them overly cautious or paranoid.
6. Writing Tips: Making It Believable
Writing a punch scene isn't just about describing the physical action. To make the moment believable and impactful, you’ll need to consider various elements—from pacing and sensory details to character psychology and aftermath. Here’s how to make your punch scenes authentic:
A. Build Tension Before the Punch
Foreshadowing Conflict: Build up the tension before the punch is thrown. Is the character agitated? Are there verbal warnings or body language that suggests things are escalating? By slowly ramping up the tension, the eventual punch feels earned and inevitable.
Use Dialogue: A heated exchange of words can make a punch more meaningful. If the punch follows a particularly cutting remark or threat, it adds weight to the action.
B. Focus on Sensory Details
Physical Sensations: Describe not just the punch itself, but how it feels. Does the skin split? Does the puncher’s knuckles scrape against teeth or bone? Is there an immediate sting or delayed throbbing pain?
Sound: The sound of a punch can enhance the realism of the scene. A dull thud as a fist connects with soft tissue, the crack of a bone breaking, or the splatter of blood hitting the floor are all effective auditory details.
C. Show Immediate and Delayed Reactions
Physical Reaction: After being punched, characters rarely shake it off immediately. Staggering, falling, or momentarily losing their vision are realistic reactions. You can also show how the puncher feels—did their hand hurt from the impact?
Emotional Fallout: Punches are often emotional events. Show how your characters feel right after—whether it’s satisfaction, regret, or shock. The emotional weight of a punch can be just as impactful as the physical consequences.
D. Consider the Aftermath
Healing Process: Don’t forget that punches have a lasting impact. A black eye will take days to heal, and a broken nose could require medical attention. Characters might have to deal with soreness, swelling, or difficulty talking and eating.
Ongoing Tension: A punch can dramatically shift relationships. A once-trusting friendship could be shattered, or a bitter rivalry could be born. Make sure to carry the emotional weight of the punch forward in your story.
7. Common Misconceptions About Punching
Many writers fall into the trap of perpetuating unrealistic portrayals of punches. These misconceptions can make your scenes feel less authentic or overly cinematic. Here’s how to avoid them.
A. The Myth of the "Clean Knockout"
Reality: A punch to the jaw might cause a knockout, but it’s not always instant. In real life, knockouts are often messy and unpredictable. The recipient might stagger or struggle before finally losing consciousness, and they could wake up with serious concussions, memory loss, or nausea.
B. Punches Always Cause Immediate Bleeding
Reality: While a punch to the nose often causes immediate bleeding, not all punches result in visible blood. Even when skin splits, it might take a moment for blood to pool and become visible. Bruising and swelling often take hours to fully appear.
C. Punching Doesn’t Always Lead to a Win
Reality: Throwing a punch doesn’t guarantee victory. The puncher could hurt themselves, miss entirely, or end up escalating a fight they weren’t prepared for. Additionally, punches to the forehead or temple might not have the knockout effect portrayed in movies—they could just make the puncher’s hand hurt more than the opponent.

Adult Swim Games titles to be delisted by May
Note, dated May 9th: Duck Game and Small Radios seem to be having their original store pages transferred to the studios/devs! This likely means that the affected and potentially affected games will be safe. I'm not going to update this post anymore, lest it grow too long or too complicated to follow along with. I'm going to turn off reblogs so that previous, unupdated versions of this post do not circulate.
Tumblr media
As the week has gone on we’ve seen even more developers come out and confirm that they too were contacted by Warner Bros. Discovery — the parent company behind Adult Swim Games — and informed that their titles would be delisted “within 60 days”. The latest developer to break the news is Team2Bit, makers of Fist Puncher which has been on Steam since 2013.
Tumblr media
I encourage you to read the full post by dev Matt Kain, but these excerpts from the post that breaks the news says a lot by themselves:
We've asked that Warner Bros. simply transfer the game to our Steam publisher account so that it can stay active, but so far they have said no with the reason being that they made the universal decision not to transfer the games back to the original studios and do not have the resources to do so. No, the transfer process is not complicated. It likely takes about 2 minutes on their end: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/gettingstarted/managing_apps/transfer
And, I feel this needs to be said somewhere… but… Videogames are art. Videogames connect us. Videogames are important. Videogames are part of our cultural heritage and should be preserved.
Kain says the team will keep on pressing Warner Brothers for the game to be transferred to them.
The initial news of game retirement was broken by the developer for puzzle game Small Radios Big Televisions, Owen Deery. Deery has made the game available to download for free from the Fire Face website (his solodev company).
Tumblr media
Games confirmed to be retiring:
Fist Puncher (Confirmed - available on Steam)
Small Radios Big Televisions (Confirmed - available on Steam / PS4 / Fire Face website for free)
Soundodger+ (Confirmed - available on Steam / the itch.io release is unaffected)
Other games not yet confirmed and the platforms they are available on are listed here and here, and screenshots of the list can be found under the readmore.)
You can see all games published by Adult Swim Games on Steam listed here.
This post is actively being updated, please be patient.

RC9GN x Reader
New Season
Tumblr media
Not my art!!
NEW SEASON OF RC9GN!!! This takes place AFTER the Sorcerer's defeat
If you would like to know what voice actors I had in mind for the new characters, I'll make a skippable chapter about it.
This is very different from my other stories! This (Y/n) is MAINLY based on Donnie from ROTTMNT. She can be seen as autistic, but for the sake of not writing too many details, I'll stick to the basics. If you want some chapters that have more details about autistic characters, I can write a few one shots. I don't want ANY exclusion. Without spoiling too much, her weapon is also VERY much like Donnie's. Lots of attachments, tools, and things that could further a plot line. A lot of the technology will be the same but it will all have different purposes. This is gonna be really out of my comfort zone, as most (Y/n) I write are somewhat based on me. If it ever gets too confusing or to OOC, let me know. I want to clarify, (Y/n) is NOT Donnie, I just don't see a lot of reader inserts or x readers with a truly intelligent reader and I thought it'd be cool. The Donnie inspiration was mainly because Ben Schwartz voices Leo from ROTTMNT and Randy.
I want to preface as well, if this does not become a Reader insert, this will be a slow burn. Again, getting out of my comfort zone.
"Congratulations! You have punched all the graves!"
With their signature move, Howard Weinerman a Randy Cunningham congratulated each other, but before they could completed said, 'slappage', Howard moved away.
"Now that we've finished the final final Grave Punchers game, we should talk about the Ninja situation." Howard stepped away, leaving Randy with his fist in the air.
"Okay, I know I'm gonna sound like a broken record on this but...there is no Ninja situation?" Randy asked, dropping his hand.
"Exactly! There is no Ninja situation!" Howard pointed to Randy's desk, where the mask and Nomicon lay, the book still disguised by a Math book cover. "Your Ninja stuff has been sitting at that desk all Spring Break! The stuff's probably collected dust by now." Howard complained.
"Pfft!" Randy waved his hand and crossed his arms defiantly. "N-no, no it hasn't."
Howard raised an eyebrow and blew a large gust of air at the Nomicon. A cloud of dust flew off and towards the boys, causing them to cough.
"Okay, okay. You might have a point." Randy walked to his desk and grabbed his mask. The red lines pulsed softly. "But, the Sorcerer's gone. And with him gone, McFist has no reason to fight me." Randy waved his hand for emphasis.
"Doesn't he hate the Ninja?" Howard asked.
Randy guffawed, "No one hates the Ninja!"
"I hate the Ninja!" A scratchy voice boomed throughout the circular room. "I just wanna punch him in his stupid Ninja face." He grumbled, slouching in his chair. The short burly man mashed his fists together angrily for emphasis. The man's face turned bright red, starkly contrast from his dark Judge's robe, hence the name they all knew him by.
"Whoo, take 'er easy there, Judge. You'll get wrinkles." The melodic voice came from the dark skinned woman sitting to the right of the Judge. She was staring into a compact mirror, although her counter parts were unaware as to how seeing as her fluffy hair was covering her eyes completely. With one hand holding the mirror, she used her other hand to apply bright red lipstick, the shade on the bottom read, 'Snake's Blood'.
"Yeah, you're starting to look like McFist." The sassy voice came from a tall tan man with brunette hair, elegantly styled.
"I am not-!!" The Judge angrily stood, his face red. He took a deep breath and sat back down, gently setting down his gavel after he angrily held it over his head. "I am not like Hannibal McFist."
"What's with this obsession over the Ninja lately?" The woman asked, setting her compact mirror back in her purse. "We're perfectly fine with how we're operating things now."
"And it's not like the Ninja notices small crimes, he's more focused on Monsters and Robots, right?" The brunette asked.
"Not anymore." The Judge shook his head. "The Sorcerer's gone, and with him out of the way, those Robots are soon to follow. It won't be long before he gets desperate." The Judge reached across the table and grabbed the small remote that sat in the middle. Pressing the red button, a projection appeared on the wall being the skinny brunette. "Last night. The Ninja overturned our truck of stolen money, the cops found it right after." Pictures of a dark figure, with, what looked like, a large mallet standing on top of the overturned truck, red and lights flashing behind them, making the lines on the suit look purple. The Judge turned off the projection.
"So we gotta go bigger." The woman smirked.
"How do you figure?" The brunette asked.
The woman, about to answer, stopped as her phone rang. She pulled it out of her blazer and answered sweetly, "Deputy Mayor Kranski. Oh, hi, hon!" Kranski giggled quietly, holding her other hand up to the phone to try to conceal her words, "I'm in a meeting, honey!" She stood straight once more, hand back at her side. "Yep, meatloaf is on the top shelf."
"Kranski." The Judge rolled his eyes.
"Okay, love you too. Buh-bye." Kranski smiled sweetly, hanging up.
The brunette looked at his nails out of boredom, then looked back up at Kranski. "You were saying?"
"The Ninja is used to dealing with larger threats. So why don't we give him one?" Kranski smirked, folding her hands together.
The Judge's eyes widened, "And how do you suppose we do that?"
"We don't exactly have the funds to do that. And before you start, I'm a rich designer. You want a guy to build robots, you should have gotten my old roommate." The brunette checked his nails again.
"Once again, you offer no help, Damien." The Judge rolled his eyes.
"But, I did hear that your old high school is having an invention convention in a few days. Maybe we could...sponsor one of the brilliant students to help us?" Damien smirked.
"My old high school..." The Judge looked off in the distance, remembering his old days in school. He rubbed his Norrisville alumni ring as he recalled the happy, the sad, the humiliation...oh the humiliation... "That might just be the best idea you've had yet." The Judge smirked.
The three began laughing, first small, then growing to loud chaotic laughter.
"Just you wait, Ninja. We're coming." The Judge smirked.
"I don't know about this (Y/n)."
"Bucky, you're gonna be fine. I'm a scientist—"
"You're fourteen!" Bucky interrupted.
"Still technically a scientist." (Y/n) poked her head up from behind her desk, goggles plastered on her head. The left lens was wide and red, much closer to the metal band connecting the goggles than the right lens. The right lens was slightly extended past the left and was blue. "Move to the right a bit." She commanded, motioning with her hand for her companion to move to his right.
Buck looked down at the ground and shuffled to the right, now more centered on the red 'X' on the ground.
(Y/n) grinned and gave a thumbs up, a noise of confirmation exiting her lips before she resumed her fast typing.
"So what does this do again?" Bucky asked, looking around at the dangerous equipment aimed at his head.
"Oh this? It's just a simple home alarm." (Y/n) waved her hand above her screens so Bucky could see.
"Simple, right." Buck nodded, but did not agree at all. "Has anyone ever told you that you tend to go a little overboard?" Bucky asked.
(Y/n) peeked around her screens again, goggles now over her eyes, "No, why?" Without waiting for an answer, she continued typing.
Bucky anxiously tapped his arms to his side but stopped once one of the large metal arms adjusted near his head.
"Okay!" (Y/n) clapped her hands and stood, slightly scaring Bucky. "If I did this right, you shouldn't get hurt! At least not too bad." (Y/n) mumbled. Flipping her goggles back onto the top of her head, she added some last minute adjustments.
"What was that?" Bucky asked quickly, sweating in all uncomfortable places.
"And 3, 2,-" Before she could press the 'enter' button on her large complicated keyboard, all of her screens changed to a cute emoticon of her face. The emoticon had half lidded eyes, goggles, and a lazy smirk, much like the counterpart that made it.
'School. School. It's time for the most important time of the day. School. School. As Galileo said,"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them."'
(Y/n) turned off the alarm with a sigh. "As much as I'd love to listen to quotes from famous scholars all day, Galileo is right. It's time to discover new truths!" (Y/n) stood, finger raised in the air boldly. She grabbed her (f/c) satchel (A/N: sorry, just a question. Would you guys want you to have more inclusive things like (f/c) or (f/drink) or should I keep it Donnie-esque? Keep the favorite color purple and the favorite drink flavorless juice.) and Bucky's bag. She pulled her phone out of her (f/c) hoodie and began typing quickly with just her thumb, her previous excitement suddenly disappearing. (Y/n) began walking out of the dimly lit room, eyes trained on the screen. "You might want to follow quickly, because I accidentally pressed the button." (Y/n) said as she rushed out of the room.
The beeping of the mechanical appendages and weapons powering up around Bucky, made him gulp.

Dark Science #130 - Night Puncher 3
Some people like Night Fist Revenger best, but for me Night Puncher 3 was when the series hit its stride. I loved every fighter, from Grandma Half-pipe to Satanta: the Half-Devil, Half-Santa secret fighter. Bone David mains can get kind of intense, though. Too obsessed with the meta.

Alright time for my thoughts on the McFarlane Toys Target exclusive DC Multiverse Gold Label Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) action figure.
As I said when the figure was first announced it's a "Frakenstein's monster" of past McFarlane Toys Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) figures.
The top is from the "3 Jokers" Batgirl while the rest (including the belt) is based on the very first Batgirl figure McFarlane Toys released (the Sean Murphy redesign).
It's not the first time Cass has borrowed from a Babs Batgirl figure. Mattel did it. Even Imaginext did a Burnside Batgirl in all of Cass's colors.
So it has all of their articulation.
Comparing the prior McFarlane Toys Cass figure (the Page Puncher from last year). Comparing the two in molding details, paint, and accessories: the left-hand one is exceptional.
Tumblr media
However, articulation the right hand Batgirl wipes the floor with the other. The Pagepuncher is quite hard to stand up by itself without the stand and you can only do a few poses with it due to the molded on batskin lower gear and belt.
Even with it being old molds from McFarlane, the new Batgirl figure takes the crown of being the most posable Cass action figure ever. Destroying not only the DC Direct pair.
So what about it and the Mattel (the long-running champ)?
Well, articulation-wise, McFarlane Toys takes Mattel with "newer" action figure tech. What really takes the crown as THE BEST Batgirl action figure is one of its new parts and its "secret weapon": the wired cloth cape.
Tumblr media
The fabric ain't Mafex quality (you can see through the cape). However, like a Mafex the wire is in there go with no fear of popping out. Because it is a wired fabric (and not plastic) you can get some pretty AMAZING pictures with this Cass.
The cape and newly sculpted head make this probably THE best Batgirl figure we've gotten (so far) because you can get Cass in some crazy kickass poses.
If there's a big gripe I have with the figure is the accessories we get. They're from the Murphy Batgirl, and while the grapple gun got a HUGE paint makeover, the BIG Batarang (while also repainted) just feels so out of place.
Instead, McFarlane should've just given us alternate fist hands or an unmasked face (either would've made this would've made it even better).
That's where MODDING comes in handy.
Tumblr media
Even with the flaws, this figure is something to behold. It's a game-changer. All caped Bat Fam members have to be content with this exceptional figure and now those who came in the past feel "dated" because of it.
On the plus, for Cass to be the one to get this. Yeah, it feels GOOD. Like, years of wait and McFarlane Toys gives us this banger of a figure.
Like, I keep taking either one I own and begin messing with it with crazy posing.
IT'S JUST SOOO GOOD! 🥺🥺🥺
Therein lies the final flaw.
That this figure IS a Target exclusive. Cause with all I've said, I can easily see this figure being IN DEMAND, and like DC Direct Stephanie Batgirl (or Mattel Cass) before her probably eventually carrying a HEAVY price tag in the aftermarket over time.
Unless of course, McFarlane Toys pulls a McFarlane Toys and does variants with this figure over from now and then. I can easily see it given that this figure is called BATGIRLS (Cassandra Cain).
You don't say that and not tease a future Steph figure.
Cause um Stephanie needs one given we only have two (DC Direct and Mattel). It feels… wrong.
Tumblr media
So if already don't have this figure, and you see this figure on a Target shelf? BUY ON SIGHT. You won't regret it. This figure is EXCEPTIONAL even with the reuse. The wired cape and Cass's design aesthetic makes her so GOOD.
Dare I say she's the best McFarlane Toys female DC figure?
I dare. I DARE!
So those who have her: what do you think? Do my words add to what you feel? Do they not? I'd love to know.

Boxer! AU Storyboard
RACHA BOXING GYM: RESPECT, HONOR, DIGNITY
Thank you @kaciidubs for the idea!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Christopher "Bang Chan" Bahng came from a rough family from the wrong side of the tracks. He was a troubled kid who learned it was easier to pick fights rather than make amends. Always having to be on the defense can do a lot to a child and not having a safe place to go most nights meant Chris got into his fair share of trouble. When the owner of RACHA gym found a young Chris bloody and bruised sleeping behind his studio, he took him in. The man was the closest thing Christopher ever had to a father. He raised him in the studio and rewrote the whole world. Chris easily became the best fighter in the league. Every match he remembered the lessons his father figure had taught him; "Boys fight with anger, Men fight with dignity". This became the motto painted right above the door at what was now Chan's gym. He was heartbroken after the untimely death of his guidance, he took out all his anger on the punching bag that mocked him. Sadly, one missed swing landed Christopher's fist into the wall, shattering the bones in his hand. Unable to box Chan found another way to honor his father's legacy, he would run RACHA gym the way it was meant to be. Respect, Honor, and, Dignity.
Tumblr media
Minho was an active child who tried every sport at least once, except one. He would beg his parents to let him box after seeing a movie his grandpa snuck in. Min would be told no over and over again. That didn't stop him, however, nor did it stop his grandpa. Every day after school when he would go to his grandfather's house, the two would watch old wrestling and boxing clips on black and white VHS. Minho loved it. He would go to bed and dream about his name in lights and fans cheering him on. Where his parents saw violence, he saw art. And where they saw brain-dead meatheads, Minho saw geniuses. He studied each play on a loop until he could accurately predict what came next. When other kids were out playing, he was calculating hitboxes and wingspan. He would tell you by one look if you were a swarmer, out-boxer, slugger, or box-puncher. At the age of 10, his grandfather enrolled him in private boxing lessons out of his garage and soon enough Minho was fighting in underground matches. Was it entirely legal? no. Was his grandpa and him making money off of his winning bets? hell yes. The original owner of RACHA Gym witnesses the illegal betting during a match between Minho and Chan. He agreed to not say anything under one condition, Lee Know would fight under the RACHA name. Years later, Lee Know has become one of the biggest names in boxing, fighting with his grandpa's name tattooed on his knuckles. He even has a student of his own, a popular boy named Hyunjin.
Tumblr media
As soon as anyone saw him, they knew Changbin was a fighter. As soon as he was able to stand on his own two feet, he was in the ring. The Seo family was synonymous with the boxing world. With a legacy that large, disappointment was sure to follow. Binnie was a relatively scrawny child who hardly packed a punch. Thus Changbin was thrown out of the family light, favor was instead she'd on his brothers and cousins. He did everything in his power to gain the respect he could but he could see his light fading out. He put all his anger, frustration, and loneliness into boxing. When he wasn't at work he was at the RACHA gym, putting his life into the ring. Changbin and Chan grew up almost as brothers. They two protected each other and cared for one another. Where Chan showed Changbin's company, Binnie showed Christopher's strength. Before long Bin became the most feared fighter in the ring, known for swinging first and thinking second. However, the boys all know he is a softy at heart. He just doesn't hope the new kid, Seungmin, doesn't find out.
Tumblr media
Hyunjin was as far as you could get from dirt and grime. He has never had to feel the grit rubbed into his wounds or a fist to an open jaw like so many others had. No, Jinnie was a pretty boy from a rich family. He only knew glitz and glamor. Where others built their paths, he was carried along his. That's what he disliked the most. He wasn't an individual, a personality, a body, or even a thought. Hyunjin was an image, a figurehead, a puppet to be played for the entertainment of other rich snobs. He wanted more out of his life, he was filled with rage and no outlet. His blow-up was a public affair. Hyunjin didn't mean to beat the living hell out of his brother-in-law but if you push one too many buttons, something is bound to happen. However, sometimes curses can become blessings, especially if the new owner of an award-winning boxing studio catches wind of your actions. Chan brought in the ball of fire much to the complaints of the other boys. They hated how he got to walk in and be a fighter. But then Hyunjin lost match, after match, after match. Soon enough that ego whittled down. Hyunjin learned this was an art rather than an impulse. Adrenalin only gets you so far. It usually winds you up in the medic chair being worked on by the sweet young nursing student. It also makes you look into the disappointed eyes of your master, Minho.
Tumblr media
Han was not a name anyone knew in boxing. J-one was barely even remembered past amateur matches. He was decent, maybe even a little more than that. Han has the techniques, the skills, the body, and even the support. What he lacked was the motivation. There was no drive for Jisung to fight, he didn't see the point. Chan was his best friend, the two did everything together. Han followed Chan like his personal cheerleader and in return Chan kept him safe. Jisung was easily the butt of everyone's aggression. He was small and lacked a bite. Chan thought he knew what he was doing when he enrolled his best friend at the studio. How could Han say no when Christopher had done so much for him? When Han began to lose his matches, Chan was convinced it was because the boy needed to work harder, so he pushed. This put a tear in their relationship. Han loved and hated Christopher at the same time, he couldn't see that he was treating Han the same way everyone else did. After a pretty brutal match was lost, small sniffles could be heard from the supplies room. Minho was shocked to see the crying boy behind some old equipment. That's when it all hit, Han was losing these matches on purpose. Minho wasn't the best at comfort but he tried. Chan's heart broke when he learned the news, immediately pulling Han's name from the roster. Han still hangs around the studio every day, helping out in little ways. He wants to support his friends, not fight them.
Tumblr media
Felix was a medical student looking for some work after graduation. The hospital was great work and gave good pay but something about it didn't click for Felix. He had always been someone who made close attachments, too close some may say. He was an empath to the description. Seeing patients come and go, never being able to care for them in the personal way they needed hurt Felix. Not knowing if they were recovering well kept him up at night. He wanted to take care of people, not treat them. Felix managed to get some odd jobs here and there but his favorite was working for an old boxing master. The man would tell stories of his glory days and how he was to leave his studio to his only son. Felix cared for the man every day and soon the two gained a special bond. When he passed away, Felix cried for hours. He worried about Chan and how he was handling the loss. Lix walked in right as Christopher's hand met the stone wall. Nothing mattered more than Chan at that moment, as Felix began to care for him right away. Lix knew it was bad, that Chan would probably never fight again. Chris said the only thing that made him feel okay in that moment was the sunshine smile Felix gave him. The two knew they were connected for life now, they may have lost someone close to them, but they gained someone who would become even closer. Felix enjoyed being the medic around the studio. The pay was awful and the boys always smelled like they needed a shower a week ago. But that didn't matter to him, Felix had his boys to take care of.
Tumblr media
Seungmin was the newest fighter for RACHA, finally graduating from Chan's apprenticeship. Eager was an understatement. Minnie wanted a piece of the action, he could taste competition on his tongue. His fingers twitched and he could never stay still. He wanted to prove himself, he needed to prove himself. Not to his family or friends, not even to a puppy dog crush. Rather he needed to prove it to himself. He needed to know he could stand on his own and be the best. He trained for this, he studied for this, he lived for this. Seungmin was so sure he was going to become Minho's student. The two fought in similar styles. Seungmin remembered skipping classes to watch his idol fight. He kept a journal of every one of Lee Know's matches, connecting the dots just like Minho had said to do in interviews. So when he walked in to see Hyunjin with Minho, he was confused. Who would be his master if it wasn't the infamous Lee Know? Enter Seo Changbin. Bin knew he wasn't Seungmin's first choice but Chan knew what he was doing. The fireball needed someone to tame him and the enthusiast needed someone to bring him to reality. Minnie may never admit it, but he is glad he had Changbin.
Tumblr media
Jeongin was a newborn baby in the world of boxing. Once Seungmin had been promoted upwards, Chan needed a new apprentice. When Innie walked in looking for a summer activity, Christopher's heart melted. He saw in Jeongin what his master saw in him. Chan knew he could be that guidance for Jeongin. His boxing name came rather fast after the boys struggled to remember his actual name. Finally when looking at Felix's medical notes he saw the name I.N. and it stuck. While Jeongin appreciated having a place that kept him out of bad crowds, there was a lot less fighting than he would have liked. Instead, he was stuck watching and learning, feeling like he was in school all over again. Minho would teach him lessons in predictions and stats. Changbin was tasked with correcting the kid's form and stance. Chan taught him the values of boxing. Even Hyunjin and Seungmin stepped in to give their insights. Though most days dragged on, Innie always found himself coming back. Something about it all was so addicting. Chan could see the spark behind his eyes when he landed a hit just right or dodged one of Han's swings. Chan had decided that Jeongin would become his one and only student.

How to Play: Wayne from Letterkenny
Tumblr media
Like Popeye, this is pretty straightforward, but also I feel like there are at least a couple ways you can go with it.
5e
Race
Wayne's a human (preferably Variant), let's be honest.
That said, Half-Orc is definitely a defensible choice with it's ability bonuses, Relentless Endurance, Savage Attacks, and free Intimidate proficiency.
Class
The main way to go, I think, is with some homebrew from DnDBeyond, because when I stated thinking about this build, Barbarian seemed the key way to go. Unfortunately, the normal Barbarian paths don't quite work, and 5e made unarmed combat even more of a "Only Monks Need Apply" thing than 3.X.
HOWEVER, there are of course multiple Brawler paths on DnDBeyond. This one is the highest rated one, and looking at the others, I can see why. It's just simpler and cleaner. It gives you an unarmed strike with improving damage as you level like the monk's Martial Arts feature, your fists are treated as magical weapons (an integral thing when playing a puncher in D&D as you level up), and some other nice abilities as you level up. Wayne's a pretty straightforward brawler, but I feel like he's not above throwing a fucker or using a beer bottle in a life and death situation.
Barbarian? Yeah.
Wayne's pretty stoic and quiet, but you can tell when he's angry, and he has a standard "preparing for a fight" action:
Tumblr media
Background
In normal core 5e, there isn't a farmer background, but again, DnDBeyond of course has multiple farmer backgrounds in the homebrew. This one feels fitting, between the Advantage on Animal Handling and the "you know enough Druidic to say hello or ask for directions" if you call Druidic "Queebeckois" and druids Degens.
"My DM doesn't like Homebrew"
Ok, that's cool. I think Homebrew is much easier to allow in 5e because everything is so formulated, but, hey, there are valid reasons to not include it even then (like "I work full time and I'm not going to go look over every custom thing everyone wants to use.")
In that case, it's a bit weirder and will ask for more handwaving/refluffing, but I think a Kensai Monk/Zealot Barbarian could work. If you just want to dip a level or two of Barbarian for the rage and not hit third for a path, I feel like that's defensible, since it's the unarmed damage of the monk you're going to want to focus on.
For a non-Homebrew Background, you probably want to go with Folk Hero. I think Wayne definitely qualifies as a Folk Hero, and it's the closest published stuff comes to a "commoner who turns adventurer" background. It gives you Animal Handling and Survival (yes, Barbarian can get those, but you can then use your class proficiencies to take Athletics and Intimidation, or Nature instead of one of those). Rustic Hospitality also feels fitting.
Feats
Your first feat (assuming your GM is allowing feats, but my impression is that that's pretty standard) should be Magic Initiate.
Yes, I know, Wayne isn't a magic user. But take Magic Initiate and choose Bard, because then you can get the cantrip Vicious Mockery, and you can hurt people just by chirping at them, which is very in-theme for Wayne. Think of the cold open with the hockey players coming up the laneway. They are definitely taking psychic damage from Wayne, Daryl and Dan just verbally handing them their asses. For your other spells, I would take Mending and Speak with Animals. They just feel appropriate for Wayne, things that would be useful on a farm.
Tumblr media
Other options
Ok, so, I'm saying Wayne needs some Bard spells.
Why not dip Bard?
Well... because multiclassing can already be brutal to your overall effectiveness. BUT, a level of Bard would be pretty fitting instead of the Magic Initiate feat. "Pitter Patter, let's get at 'er" is just so fitting as a way of giving your allies Bardic Inspiration. In this case, your 1st level spells should probably be Animal Friendship, Healing Word, Heroism and Speak with Animals.
Pathfinder
Pathfinder actually has a Brawler class, which a Fighter/Monk hybrid, and would be perfect. Dip some Barbarian for rage, and maybe use the Exemplar archetype to get some limited Bard-ness. But you could also go pure Barbarian with Improved Unarmed Strike and such.

I had the dumbest thought the other day at work that we should just get those blow up puncher things and these dudes could settle their beef with those
Which me me think like oh, maybe they do something similar on the moby to settle beef
Cause like you’re on a giant pirate ship stuck with the same people all the time, there’s gotta be some peeps you just don’t vibe with. So instead of an all out brawl I was like huh maybe they just have some little fight club or something where they get the chance to just absolutely pound on eachother
Maybe some little cuffs to help keep devil fruit users from using their powers, and no weapons
The visuals give me Yusuke and Chuu fighting in the dark tournament, knives to their feets and just pounding on eachother
And the other crew members get to watch (serves as entertainment too!) and they bet on it and shit
Just imagine joining the moby dick and you’re all the sudden pulled up by someone excitingly going oh it’s fight time! And just being like excuse me
(Be interesting even in the yandere bc you maybe get to see one of the guys ‘keeping’ you fighting and you’re like oh that’s extra scary. Like Thatch just absolutely demolishing some dude with his fists and realizing how soft you’re being treated in comparison)
And it’s not even always beef just sometimes two dudes are like hey bro you wanna bet let’s fight
But the commanders organize it or something bc it’s much easier than dealing with constant animosity and fist fights and honestly in my experience most dudes get along better after just punching it out so yeah
Also hot visuals of two shirtless dudes just totally wailing on eachother
(I enjoyed the yyh moment maybe a little too much)
Sometimes you just need to do something physical to get the irritation out of your system, so I can see it. These are fit guys too, so some No Haki/No DF fist fights aren’t going to do much damage, but there’s still the physical exertion.
And they can just yell at each other too.
Maybe sometimes someone wins the fight but the crew is collectively like “yo, you were the asshole, brother. Apologize.” And in that way you get to see the dynamics and culture of the ship.
Honestly it would explain why no one was sussed about Ace’s way of coping when he came into the crew. It’s a little different, but the situation wasn’t the same either, so it worked out.
I loved that scene in YYH too, it was just so raw. It was also a moment for Keiko and Yusuke too.
I like the idea.
I like the idea that, except for when someone was doing it just for fun, Teach never entered the ring. He never has a “beef” with someone. Everyone gets along with him, who would doubt him?
But also, yeah, seeing Thatch and Ace and Marco fight and realizing how gentle they are with you. You see Izou “fight” once, but this shit just keeps easily dodging until his opponent is tired then lays them out. He never drags anyone into the ring, but he won’t reject someone wanting a word with him.
Few do.
Only Marco’s ever landed a hit, and it took Pops stepping in to end that fight. Not that there’s a grudge or any bad blood, but they’re both monsters and things were dragging on too long.
