Countdown Day 1: Digimental switch up!

So for my first piece for @digimon02countdown I wanted to do something about some of the untapped potential for the digimentals/eggs. I love the fact that mixing and matching the eggs can produce completely different digimon and I think it's a shame that it wasn't explored more in the series. I was originally going to do the lineup from the Valentine's audio drama; but I thought highlighting some of my favourite unseen combinations would be more fun! So here's another scenario where everyone had to switch up their digimentals!Since it might not be apparent who is who (from viewer's left-to-right) :

Veemon + Light = Gargoylemon

Armadillomon + Hope = Sheepmon

Hawkmon + Knowledge = Flybeemon

Patamon + Sincerity = Ponchomon

Gatomon + Kindness = Oppossummon

Wormmon + Courage = Shadramon

So with the new Digimon just released we now have Fan/FunBeemon, CannonBeemon, ForgeBeemon, QueenBeemon, JewelBeemon, FlyBeemon, and HoneyBeemon, but still no Beemon.

Type: Cyborg

A Digimon that was transformed into a half-beast, half-man form when Blitzmon's power was halved. Its body is capable of generating copious amounts of electricity, allowing it to function as a power source for large electrical systems. Because of the scale of this power and the sturdiness of its exoskeleton, its strength and defense are equally matched, though it is not very fast. Its Special Move is firing an electric beam from the lightbulb on its back ("Eureka Charge").

They're not gonna make complete sense because of the limitation I gave to myself where they come from the Digimon the crest is linked with, but yeah... I feel insane trying to justify some of these in my head-

Fun Fact: Theres a chart on the Digimon wiki showing what each of the Partner Digimon would get if they used the other Digimentals to digivolve. Patamon + Reliability equals Mantaraymon

Yeah, both the card game and the D-3 V-Pet came out with a full set of evolutions for every Partner Digimon plus every Digimental. So there's a ton of cool Digimon designs that have basically never seen the light of day because the show insisted on restricting Digimentals to specific characters, and subsequent video games and stuff usually just use the anime's Armor forms and leave out all the rest.

Like Flybeemon (Hawkmon + Knowledge).

I just saw Karn EX's video on if the Knowledge armor digimon evolved further, and it got my brain pumping. I actually really like my own idea for Searchmon, becoming Cimbmon and then Shivamon. It almost follows a narrative like Wormmon is searching for a new path in life after the Digimon Kaiser fiasco, climbing mountains while traveling the digital world, and finding enlightenment. Searchmon is a cricket and Climbmon/Shivamon are mantids, which are distantly related. Plus, while it's not the same kind of "worm", Shivamon does come with a horsehair worm around its shoulders.

And while I'm not In Love with this next one, Pharaohmon's gold does circle back around to Armadimon's shell and Digmon having metal drills. Something something digging, bones, archaeology, Ancient Egypt. Armadimon is just so hard to work with. And that's before thinking about how there are basically no more insect digimon to use.

I mean, I'm completely stumped on trying to come up with a better idea for Mothmon or Flybeemon. Do I stick Okuwamon and GrandKuwagamon/GrandisKuwagamon somewhere? RhinoKabuterimon and Ancientbeatmon? I've actually run out of options, to say nothing of good options.

Livia: *Smiles slightly, putting the last book away* Hello, are you lost, your partner must be around here somewhere right

Lucemon: I am..unsure..I do not see a digivice on this girl but there is something strange about her

Livia: *Opens her eyes, looking at the two* Hm.? Oh it's you and you have a friend

Lunamon: *Gasps and quickly hops onto Lucemon's back*

Lucemon: *Lifts into the air, gliding away*

Livia: *Blinks, watching them go* ...bye...

Sebek: *Hurries over, his Betamon following him* Lady Livia!

Livia: *Stretches and yawns* Hi Sebek

Sebek: We should head back

Livia: Okay!

???: I'll be right back!

Lucemon: *Opens the door beside him, quickly entering it and closing the door*

???: *Runs past* SILVER!! Wake up~!

Lucemon: *Sighs then perks up, noticing a glow from the closet*

Lucemon: *Opens the closet doors, digging around before pulling out a Digivice holding it to the light* Woah...Piedmon will be pleased with this

???: I got Silver!

Lucemon: *Flinches as it glowed when the footsteps passed, his eyes wide*

Lucemon: *Quickly opens the room door, floating to the window and flying out gliding around the dorm* This is a secretive place I see, who was hiding this and why...

???: LUCEMON!

Lucemon: *Looks away, finding Flybeemon coming over to him* Yes?

Flybeemon: *Salutes him* General meeting with Piedmon!

Lucemon: *Sighs and nods, gliding away* Let's go...

Silver: *Steps in* Lilia?

Lilia: *Sits on his knees stunned, his eyes wide* It's gone...the digivice is gone...

I'm so glad you like my Digimon choices for the LTDFCD! I wanted to give Neb/Daddy a Gomamon because he reminds me of Joe from Adventure.

Yasyamon and Flybeemon (separate) being delighted to carry their tamer after they shyly asked because they've been walking for a long time

Yasyamon

Yasyamon had taken notice of his Tamer's fatigue after they both had walked for some time, the way they began to drag their feet and their general demeanor seeming unpleased with such a situation. Yasyamon had yet to feel the drop as he kept at a pace, but eventually had to slow it to keep with his Tamer.

When they finally asked, rather shyly at that, if he could carry them, Yasyamon was quick to nod before he scooped his Tamer into his arms. His words sounding calm and collected, as the always did, but a spark of delight in his red eyes at carrying his Tamer.

Yasyamon really didn't mind! Anything to help his dear Tamer. They needed the rest, and he would have suggested a short break if they really needed it or seemed like they were just going to drop like a stone into water. Lucky them that Yasyamon had plenty of strength to keep going, they could nap in his arms if they wanted to.

Flybeemon

It was always tough to really get what Flybeemon was thinking about, that's half of what his Tamer thought anyway with how he was. And as he flew by their side as they steadily grew more tired as the trek was longer than expected... they decided to just ask Flybeemon what had been on their mind for about half the walk.

They shyly asked if he could carry them, since their legs began to hurt, and they were too tired now... but they could also just rest! That'd be fine, too! Flybeemon didn't have to do anything he didn't want to after all. But to his Tamer's surprise, he did agree as he went to grab them up in a way that would be comfortable enough.

This wouldn't inhibit his ability to fly, so it didn't matter Flybeemon was quite a strong Digimon for what he was, and the trip got along a bit faster once he didn't have to just keep pace with his Tamer and could fly at a pace he preferred!

Some messy color style...experimental(?) art from me from stream last night using armor evo digimon.  Mostly did a more faster coloring on there, with allomon having really fast lineart as well. I enjoyed doing this since I tend to always keep my stuff clean with lines and color.  I really had fun drawing Flybeemon and messing with the design a little bit. I really like doing simple insect armor like this.

​All armor digimon is beautiful and pretty.

My favorite ones are Sagittarimon, Kangarumon, Gargolyemon, GoldV-dramon, Sethmon, Shadramon, Coatlmon, Opossummon, Sheepmon, Honeybeemon, Flybeemon, Flamewizardmon, Moosemon, Pipismon, Prairiemon, Rhinomon, Toucanmon, Bitmon, Butterflymon, Manbomon, Pteranomon, Togemogumon, Owlmon, Maildramon, Thunderbirdmon, Rinkmon and Swanmon (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

I think the kids just witnessed their first couple deaths with Unimon and Flybeemon getting absorbed by MetalPhantomon. Also, MetalPhantomon just looks plain terrifying,
