Just a helpful tip. This used to apply to tanks too but they might have changed that?

im in a current search for academic law papers about batman's concept of justice (and his application of it) so i can be even more pretentious about comic books (and familiarize myself w legal terminology in general). and one issue that was already obvious but's now become 100% clear is that. whatever ethical critique you are going to do depends a lot on the comics you pick up as a source. it's not the same to do an analysis of year one-long halloween-dark victory than it is to do one of utrh, for example. the most blatant classification that could be made is batman as a newcomer (no legitimacy) vs. batman as a established vigilante (gained a certain level of legitimacy, if not full—depends on reactions by the authorities)
but doing a critique of his ideology based solely on legitimacy falls flat.....you'd have to analyze the flaws in his vision of crime, violence as a means to an end, punitive vs transformative vs rehabilitating vs restorative vs retributive vs whateverthefuck justice, etc. both when the story gives him full legitimacy and when it doesn't. judge it as a project too before it becomes "law" in application
and you also need to question from what framework are you to analyze bruce? as an individual? or as a possible equivalent to the State? because his status as the title and central character to gotham gives him a sovereignty of sorts that a personal analysis would not give him. i suppose it's a watsonian (individual) vs doylist (state-like) point of difference. but also....i may be tempted to equate him to the state just for ease of analysis since that's the theory im more familiarized with. and should that distinction even make a difference in the critique ? not really
it really just comes down to who's writing him and what the current continuity is. as it happens w every other analysis.
all in all i think what this has made me realize is that i have a far higher dislike for bruce's take on justice if i view him as a legitimate force in gotham, than if i view him as an illegal vigilante. which definitely has to do with my distaste for the state. but i should be able to criticize him as a personal ideology as well, bc i can't have such a blind spot in my political critique
#outside of fiction. in general politics#it is a fatal issue im aware i have#that i don't have quite enough of a grasp on theory#to judge different revolutionary ideologies#the broad strokes sure. but when we get to the nuances? im useless#that's why im so focused on this. bruce is like my lab rat ok#i use batman comics so i can teach myself theory and have fun at the same time#and feel just a little less like all my energy is spent think abt revolutionary theory#follow me for more tips n tricks#anarchist analysis#bro don't really identify as an anarchist anymore. that tag is a little outdated but i don't really know what else to call it#using Revolutionary as a catch all term just sounds wayyy to sensationalistic#meta: batman as a character

Perhaps this is common knowledge and I'm just speaking into the void here, but thought it couldn't hurt to share this trick just in case it might benefit someone else. This applies for Anamnesis on PC.
If you want to use the emotes of another race/gender than that of your character, you can do so by pausing and register the emotes you'd like to use and then apply it to your desired character.
It works pretty well across the board regardless of height or proportions, and the tweaking required is minimal (mostly for facial expressions and general hand/limb placement).
Again, maybe this is common knowledge, but this is my personal go-to screenshot trick nowadays so thought maybe it might be beneficial for someone else.
#idk what to tag this as#anamnesis#ffxiv gpose#gpose#ffxiv screenshot#final fantasy gpose#same glam and general appearance across the board for the sake of clearest comparison#i was debating on whether or not to share this cause for some reason im always like#worried that any tips or tricks i share will either be stupid because there are other better ways#OR that im just spouting common sense#but maybe!!! it will help someone!!! who knows!!!

obito fic 👀?
HELL YEAH BABY. HELL YEAH. I HAVE JUST POSTED THE 70K OBITO FIC GO READ IT.
Naruto. Man. Very treasured aspect of my childhood. I've written a few fics now that are about an influential childhood media or character, and they always have such a unique quality about them. But I love my BAMF!Sakura fics so much. You Call This A Utopia is for her.
I talk a little bit about the specialness of that useless little girl in the author's note, but #justiceforSakura has always compelled me - on one level, just such wasted potential as a character, but on another level, it was one of my very early frustrations with sexism in writing. I wanted to live vicariously through her, to use her as a self-insert power fantasy like all the boys got to do with all the male Naruto characters, but even if she's a chakra master (!) and genius doctor (!!) who can wreck mountains with her fists (!!!) she was never quite able to make the tween girl readers feel special, because she was never valued. BAMF!Sakura fics were how I was able to have my little kid power fantasies in my favorite good-bad shonen. Today, if I'm reading BAMF!Sakura fic I am spiritually watching Saturday morning cartoons and eating sugar cereal and crying.
I didn't have very strong feelings Obito until I read butter_peanut and realized that one could hypothetically make him the most fascinating fucking character. Naruto fic writers are so creative and magnificent and better than Naruto. I do vaguely remember Tobi being my favorite Akatsuki character, because he had so much personality and was a lot of fun after Naruto got kinda serious. butter_peanut having Tobi say the word "bestie" truly inspired me. After writing him I now understand them completely, because I have happened to discover that he is the funnest fucking character.
I feel insane. Like a precious few people know and understand that Obito is so much fun to write. I love writing insane people and we know this but Obito is truly on another level (he is a villain in Naruto and you cannot match that level in any other fucking series). He is genuinely so unhinged and he genuinely believes that he is a normal person. He is so fundamentally broken and it is so funny.
What caught me about Naruto villains - because this is Naruto, it is interesting in theory and so stupid in practice - is that they are almost all, fundamentally, good people. The goal of most Naruto villains is "create a better world with no war and only love and peace". Which means that you have to be a special kind of nuts to be a Naruto villain, because you are a good person who got so incredibly fucked up and twisted by your incredibly violent life that you are now an evil schemer who is trying to blow up half the continent. The evil in Naruto is on a systemic level, not a person one. You Call This A Utopia?! is fundamentally about this. Except stupid.
Tobi is also one of the most challenging but rewarding characters I've written. FUN FUN FUN. Lots more to say about literally all of this. For now I'll just say that I'm an adult, so these days I gravitate to adult POVs. Obito is the adult's window into a kid's world. But Obito is honestly an overgrown kid himself. Let's see how that all plays out.
#and that the ultimate victory must be breaking the cycle of hatred through naruto and sasuke kissing and also naruto#not becoming a dictator maybe#my writing#my asks#“wow all of the evil in naruto is systemic and not based on the individual person”#“surely this means that in naruto the TRUE big bad is the military industrial complex and generational trauma”#nope! not that. not that at all.#rabbit goddess. fuck you.#i also couldn't say this on main for the sake of my pride#but the OTHER big influence into my obito was RK700's obito's tips and tricks on being an alpha#no not any of their other obitos. just that one.#only that one.#just trust me.

You know I have been put under general anesthesia a couple of times now, and let me tell you it has done wonders for tricking my brain into sleeping.
I have a fun trick where I remember what everything felt like down to the details and can recreate it so if I want to pass tf out I can now just say "hey the air smells weird and we feel heavy"
And my brain goes "oh shit!!! You're right. We're unconscious now."

I don’t know if everyone knows this but there are tricks to google search that can help you make searching easier. If any of you remember the post about searching for big bird (if I can find it I’ll link it and reblog it) where they wanted a big bird and not Big Bird. But everytime they put more words into the search He’d always be there? Watching and being sad?
Well let me show you how these little tricks can make the process way easier.
And because this will be kinda long…
Well let’s just type big bird first

Well shit…that’s not what we want
Now if we use the minus (-) we can remove things we don’t want soo -sesame and -yellow

Awww sweet big birds. There’s other tricks too like using “quotation marks” to make sure the google results use what’s in them. Cause sometimes you’re trying to search something and one of the words is super important and google will be like “nah, you didn’t mean that word right?” The quotations is like grabbing google by the throat and saying “I did you dumb fuck”
There’s the star* that can just make it random like in this example

There’s others but I usually use the minus and quotations the most.
#google#using google#tips#tricks#tips and tricks#google tips#how to use google#trust me it’s very useful when doing research papers or research in general#it makes finding things so much easier tbh#I discovered back in high school and even used it into college#I’m the best researcher of random shit out of the people I know irl#mostly cause of this skill

i should not have to go to work when im on my period i should get to stay home and play enstars and read dumb fanfic and have moments of pure euphoria through the act of creation. not at work.
#i have the fuckedest experience with periods which is that these 4 days are the only time i can experience joy#which might be because the 4 days prior to i get all whimsy forcibly removed.#and so the relief that im able to feel human emotions like. makes everything that happens so wonderful.#but. i still must go to work. to get money. for the possibility of future independence.#(i need to. start uni apps. preferably this month. if anyone has any tips or tricks or general good vibes to send my way)

you can do it and don't give up: you will prevail. you have all the necessary skills to pull this off.
you can do it and give up: you don't have to prove anything to anyone. let yourself rest.
you can't do it and don't give up: the only way to learn is by failing. you will get the hang of it, but for now just push through.
you can't do it and give up: know your limits. not everything is your burden to bear. walk out. /end]
my trick for getting through grad school is learning to navigate the quadrants with all their nuances

Nah this is insane taehyun and jk are actually twins
I literally saw this post yesterday on Twitter before even opening this ask, BTXT overlap is real LOL
It's so weird to me how my brain works 'cause as much as people say they look identical, I don't see it 😭 they DO have a lot of overlapping qualities that are obvious, like having rounder eyes or ''larger'' noses but I dunno, I think the way their faces are structed makes Taehyun's features stand out way more. Kai said it the best, but the difference is that Taehyun's face is small so his facial features really look bigger, big eyes, big nose, big mouth, whereas to me JK's face seems more balanced? Like his eyes ARE round, but they aren't big, his nose is round giving it the appearance of being big but it's not that large compared to the size of his face, it's more flat too, while Taehyun's is pointy, and JK's mouth isn't big, so like it's all in line with his overall face/head structure.
The side profile really helped the illusion LOL 'cause once you see them face on I think the illusion breaks down quickly.
I'm sorry I took this ask too seriously 😭 but like part of being Taehyun bias is my insane fascination with his face, he's literally so gorgeous to me. JK is good-looking but I don't have the same fascination with his face...
#Sab answers asks#anon#about jk#about txt#even in the side-by-side though you can see the difference in how more pronounced all of Taehyun's features are#his lips come off his face more#the bridge of his nose is more pronounced and the tip is higher#his eyes also protrude more 'cause they are just generally large#like Taehyun sleeps with his eyes open frequently 'cause his eye lids quite literally cannot cover his eyeballs#you cannot trick this Taehyun fan I know my boy#I now realize after typing all this how much of a freak I sound like but whatever it's too late

600 words is not what I would consider an essay, at least none of my teachers called it that. I think I often wrote to much and might’ve been partially responsible for some teachers putting a maximum word count for assignments 😅
There was this one English teacher that absolutely loved me for it though. If I remember right, she’d give us a weekly assignment where we had to T4 a chapter of whatever book we were reading for class, then compile it into a table of examples to go with quotes we found interesting. On average I was writing about 1k words.
She’d read it all and add comments reacting to my ideas. It brought me so much joy reading them that I distinctly remember the most exclamation marks she used in a row (I’m about 80% sure it was 7).
The biggest essay I ever had to write back then was 4k, which actually did end up being hard to get. I credit most of that to bad time management though. I definitely spent way too long editing in between writing sections, rather than first writing enough content to at least go over the word cap. It’s also way easier to cut out words rather than come up with new ones.
