This is the fic I bound for this winter's @renegadepublishing exchange! I was excited to see this series among my giftee's requests because it's one I really enjoyed.

I recently (... okay, that was in the summer and it's already December, but. Recently) did a different stab binding box set and I liked it a lot and wanted to do it again, and thought it would work well for this series. This time instead of a slipcase, I made a wraparound case modeled after a Chinese style.

When I ordered this decorative paper, I thought it was just going to be light blue, but it turned out to also have streaks of red, and I thought that made it even more fitting for a story about Wei Wuxian finding his place at the Cloud Recesses.

I would just really like to read a fic where WWX regrets how he treated LWJ before dying (specifically with LWJ constantly warning him that demonic cultivation was dangerous and WWX brushing him off and turning down his offers for help etc). While I do want WWX to apologize and be held accountable, I absolutely want happy Wangxian to be together and a fluffy ending for them! Summary: It is not the first discussion conference that has been held since Jin Guangyao’s downfall, but it is the largest so far. And the first one since Wei Wuxian officially started teaching the Lan clan’s novices. In an effort to encourage inter-sect alliances and friendships among even the youngest disciples,a series of friendly skill demonstrations and competitions are held, with events for all ages to participate in. To the surprise of literally no one, the Jin sect children seem to come out of the womb puffed up on pride and thinking they’re at least a little bit better than everyone. Their novice disciples are no exception. The Jin novices’ first mistake was underestimating the Lan class because most of them are a few years younger than them. Their worst mistake was making disparaging remarks about their beloved Master Wei where Lan Xin could hear them.

Modern Cultivation AU. Wei Ying gets tossed out of the Jiang sect after a night hunt goes bad. Cue Yu Ziyuan's terrible decisions. He lands with the Wen who of course are like ... No wait. Shit. He's a fucking genius!!

It's still in the ramp up but it has so much potential and I love a Meet Ugly. This has some top quality high grade LWJ sass, and classic WY and his absolute inability to see his own value.

The modern AU translation feels very plausible as well. Of course there'd be social channels dedicated to the wild stuff cultivators can do.

Anyway. Highly recommend! [I second this rec! It's a 💙 ~Mod Kay.]

Summary: A night-hunt goes wrong, and Wei Wuxian is scapegoated for the death of the Jiang Sect Leader and the destroyed core of the Jiang Sect Heir. As punishment, his core is taken and given to Jiang Cheng, and he is stripped of his cultivation credentials and expelled from the sect. What everyone forgot was that Wei Wuxian was wearing the standard issue body camera that each cultivator wore on training missions and high-risk night-hunts. Struggling to make ends meet, Wei Wuxian finds his way to Caiyi Town with the doctor who performed the surgery, a partial core still secretly in place. His application to work at Cloud Recesses is summarily rejected by the hard-edged Second Jade of Lan after an unfortunate initial encounter. But things change when someone hacks into the Jiang systems and releases the footage of what happened. [First part of the title is a quote from Shakespeare, but this story is not based on that one!]

I honestly have no idea idea what im doing really but i guess you'll just have to listen to me ramble about something i enjoy. Seems to fit the theme we've accidentally settled on and well! if theres one thing im good at rambling about its bl fanfiction. i read ALOT of fanfiction. like 13million words worth of it in 2023 alone (an estimate but i did the ugly math for jan and feb last year and id already read 2.7 million words so i dont think its too high an estimate).

Chains of Heart - I am still enjoying it and the subs were better this week yay. However, the show that I thought I was watching is way better. I’m disappointed that’s not the story they’re telling. This is one show that I wish I’d waited to watch all at once, because the wait each week is killer. Not least because they keep ending on cliffhangers.

Moonlight Chicken - Only a cast this good can make me enjoy a cheating storyline. The cat food product placement made me giggle a bit. And that cat is either one of Earth or Mix’s cats or they know it well. It was also very nice to see a non-stressed cat for a change.

Never Let Me Go - A satisfying, if safe, ending to a great show.

Peak Time - Usually I avoid contest shows like the plague. But, for some reason I kept getting the impression that this one was a little different/not so cutthroat so I checked it out. I had to mute a couple times and just flat out not watch at some moments, but the groups cheering each other on made up for that in spades. They are all so enthusiastic and supportive it was great to see. I hope that continues throughout the series. Favorite performance was Fever by Team 20:00

Tomb of the Sea - I tried very hard to finish but gave up after 36. I never should have kept with it after I knew I wasn’t enjoying it, because it became a slog and was killing my interest in other shows as a side effect. Weird. That said, I may go back and see if there’s a cool tomb scene at the end.

My previous fanfic post reached the maximum length for a post (or so I was told by Tumblr), so here is the sequel to the list of links to the Untamed - Mo Dao Zu Shi fanfics I've read and enjoyed. As with the previous one, I'll be adding to this post (and reblogging this) every once in a while, and there's also a link to this in my pinned post. Summary:  “Wei Wuxian,” the man grits out, and he pauses with one hand reaching for the door handle. The disciple who had come in to speak to Lan Qiren brushes past him and exits the pavilion without a backwards glance. Wei Wuxian turns back to Master Lan, one eyebrow tilting up in question. “An urgent matter has come up,” Lan Qiren says, every word sounding like it’s being forcibly dragged from him. “His Excellency requests my presence. Their current instructor is ill, I was meant to take over classes for today,” he continues, gesturing towards the tiny juniors. He swallows heavily, and the next sentence sounds bitter. Choked. “I cannot leave them unattended.”

Wei Wuxian just blinks at him.

Wei Wuxian is asked (under duress) to babysit a class of tiny Lan cultivators for just a few minutes. A few minutes turns into an hour, turns into two hours, turns into an impromptu literal field trip and now there's an entire class that is weeks ahead of their curriculum, their most junior disciples have apparently imprinted on Wei Wuxian like baby birds, and Lan Qiren has no one to blame but himself.

My comment:  Aww, the adorable Baby Juniors! They're just a basket of fluffy, peeping chicks. And to wwx (who is striving to overcome years of grief and loneliness and fear and anger) they are... exactly what he needs. He's a fantastic teacher, patient and engaging and funny and innovative, and they all adore him. Lan Qiren, on the other hand, is certain he's corrupting the newest crop of Lan disciples.

Second story in the series is similarly precious fluff with a piquance of angst.

Reading this is like rolling around in marshmallows with chili-chocolate sauce.

Wei Wuxian has died and he has come back thirteen years too late and the world has moved on without him.
