BAKUGOU KATSUKI ✰ BIRTHDAY BOY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Bakugou used to love birthdays.
He’d be the center of attention. With every year being bigger than the last (because, honestly, did you expect his well-off parents to hold back on their only son?). Cameras clicked, kids shouted his name, and adults smiled in awe. He never cared if they liked him or feared him—he was admired.
And for a time, that was enough.
But somewhere along the line, the spark in those birthday candles started to feel dull.
His parents still celebrated, of course, usually with a home-cooked meal, a cake from his favorite bakery, and a gift he pretended not to like but secretly adored. His grandparents would always show up with noisy hugs and poorly wrapped presents, and his mother still made him wear a stupid little birthday crown at the table.
It was embarrassing, but it was also safe.
Familiar.
Then came UA.
By high school, the world cracked open in ways he hadn’t expected.
Everyone was strong.
Everyone had dreams.
He wasn’t the only one aiming for the top, and it was maddening—but also, for the first time, grounding. And he got friends—real ones. Not sycophants or kids scared of his quirk to say anything—so they just stay behind him, but people who challenged him through his shouting, his pride, and his anger.
Shitty Hair was the first to barge into his dorm room on his birthday with a lopsided grin and a poorly wrapped gift. “It’s a protein bar sampler! Thought you’d wanna see which one you could crush with one hand!”
After that, it became a tradition. Racoon Eyes brought handmade cards with glittery explosions. Soy Face made crown cut-outs from construction paper that Bakugou refused to wear but never threw away. Dunce Face bought the same grocery store cake every year with a new dumb nickname written in icing (he gets more creative each year—it’s starting to piss Bakugou off).
It was stupid. It was chaotic. It was good.
It became his day again.
And now—now he was 23.
The world around him had changed again.
He was a pro now. He had his own agency, his own patrols, and his own damn business cards that got passed around in hero circles and used to shut down villains on sight. Dynamight—no, Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, they called him, like he was some unstoppable force (and an unstoppable force for a long-ass hero name). Which he was, most of the time.
But today?
Today, he just wanted to come home.
The celebration at the agency had been loud, grand, and grating. His staff meant well. Hell, even his sidekick (wow, surprising, he only had one because he was the only kid with the balls to directly say to Bakugou that he’ll surpass him during a personal interview) had pooled money to get him a custom gauntlet case with engraved initials.
There were banners (too flashy), snacks (pretty good), an off-key song, and a gaudy cake that someone ordered with indoor-safe sparklers instead of candles. He’d smiled (barely), given a thank-you speech that was short and gruff but genuine, and then dipped out the first moment he could without looking like a total ass. Bakugou knew exactly where he wanted to be.
Home.
You were waiting for him there.
Because you are his home.
He inhaled and instantly recognized the scent of soy, garlic, and ginger—it hit like a nostalgic punch straight to his gut. Home cooking. His home. You.
You peeked your head out from the kitchen and grinned. “Took you long enough, birthday boy.”
He let out a long breath, shoulders dropping, mouth tugging into a real smile as he kicked off his boots and unzipped his jacket, haphazardly draping it on the coat rack. “You been cooking this whole time?” he asked, padding toward the kitchen, hands already aching to hug you.
“I had to start late since someone had a fancy party,” you teased, arching a brow.
He caught your waist and pulled you in, burying his face into your shoulder. You were warm. Always warm. Always his to come home to. “Smelled it from the driveway. Thought I was gonna cry.”
You laughed, carding your fingers through his hair. It’s soft. It’s real. It’s what Bakugou, for the longest time of his life, thought he didn’t deserve.
“Well don’t cry. You’ll ruin your grumpy old man image.”
“You keep sayin’ old like I’m ancient,” he grumbled, voice muffled against you.
“You are! Twenty-three? That’s basically the beginning of the end.”
Bakugou snorted, lifting his head just enough to kiss your cheek. “Then I guess you better start takin’ care of me, huh?” he murmured, giving you another kiss on the cheek—and he’s tempted to bite into those round cheeks of yours, but he holds back; maybe later, he thinks. “Gonna live up to your promise?”
“I already do,” you said, smug.
Dinner was spread out in neat portions on your little dining table—fried karaage, miso soup, tamagoyaki, mapo tofu (yes, you finally lived up to surpassing Fuyumi’s recipe), Japanese curry, and a bowl of white rice shaped into a neat little mountain with a pickled plum on top. Comfort food. His favorites.
You even laid out a folded napkin at his seat and put a can of his favorite cold tea beside it.
But it was the bento cake in the center that made him pause. It was small—round and modest, clearly homemade. The white frosting was a little uneven, and there were three stubby candles jammed into the top in a crooked triangle. The frosting on top attempted an explosion shape but looked more like a flower in bloom. He loved it.
“You made that?” he asked, lowering into the seat and staring at it like it was some rare artifact.
“Baked and frosted. Don’t look too close, or you’ll see my fingerprints in it,” you said, sitting across from him. “And before you ask—no, I didn’t buy it from some store. I wanted to make it for you. Even if it’s ugly.”
“It’s not ugly.”
“Liars go to hell.”
He huffs. “Well, I think it’s fuckin’ adorable.”
You two ate slowly. Bakugou didn’t scarf it down like he did in the breakroom or during hero meetings. He savored each bite as you two shared a warm conversation over dinner. You told him how a kid at daycare tried to make you a birthday card to give to him but ended up scribbling dinosaurs fighting a volcano instead. You showed him a crayon drawing folded in your bag. It said, “Happpy Brithdai KATSOOKY.”
He laughed so hard he snorted.
After dinner, you two sat at the table for a while, talking about nothing, hands brushing occasionally, until you leaned forward and lit the candles. When you’re close like this, Bakugou could clearly remember every feature on your face—it’s something he wants to commit to memory every night.
“Make a wish.”
“Hm,” he hummed in thought.
“Make a wish quickly before the fire alarm sets off, dummy,” you smiled, joking.
He looked at you through the candlelight—lips slightly parted, eyes soft and loving. Yeah, he wants your face engraved in the deepest corners of his brain.
Bakugou made a wish. Then blew them out.
“What’d you wish for?” you asked.
He got up, walked around the table, and pulled you to your feet. “You.”
“You already have me,” you tilted your head to the side.
“Then I wished for more of you,” he replied, pressing your foreheads together.
“You’re sappy when you’re full,” you murmured, brushing your thumb across his jaw.
“I’m sappy when you bake me cake and feed me curry.”
You fed each other bites of the bento cake, poking fun at how sweet it was, until he dabbed a bit of icing on your nose. You retaliated by smearing it across his cheek. It turned into a mini war. Hands, faces, even his shirt took frosting damage. He scooped some off his collar and flicked it at you.
“I surrender! Oh my god, we’re a mess.”
“We can always take a shower later,” he says.
...
“Is that a suggestion or a promise?”
“You’re fuckin’ shameless,” he taunted, though showering together after isn’t that far off from what he was thinking.
“Uh huh. And who’s now old?”
“Still not me,” he said, wiping his face clean with a napkin. “And even if I was—if I hit fifty and go bald and need reading glasses and fall asleep at 9PM—if you’re still here with me, I’ll be fine.”
You paused.
“Yeah?”
He nodded.
“Even if I go gray first?” you asked.
“I’ll dye it with you.”
“What if I need a cane?”
“I’ll get one with spikes, and we’ll match.”
You laughed so hard you almost fell onto him. And when you looked up again, your eyes were glassy with affection.
“Happy birthday, Katsuki.”
He cupped your cheek, thumb brushing your skin with care he rarely showed anyone else.
“Best one yet.”

You had always cared about grades, even when you claimed that you didn’t, you were lying. You lied to everyone about it because truthfully, you weren’t the best student.
Don’t get me wrong, you weren’t nearly as awful as your good friend, Kaminari, but you were pretty close.
It wasn’t your fault, it’s not like you just spent your evenings messing around. You actually did make an effort to study quite often, you tried to do your homework but you had always been bad about keeping up with it.
During your first year at UA high school, you’d been in detention at least 3 times along with a few others for not completing your homework or assignments.
Aizawa being the good man that he is, tried to vouch for you (Kaminari not so much) because he knew your effort was there, it just wasn’t reflecting that in your work, the gruff man unfortunately had to follow the school policy.
He liked you as his student, he really did. Even more so when you started becoming closer to Hitoshi. As the kid’s mentor, he was relieved to see you befriend him.
You were quite outgoing, having matching personalities with Kaminari, and matching neurodivergence’s as well. The both of you had crippling ADHD. I say crippling because it really effected your life to the maximum.
No matter how hard you tried and pushed yourself you just couldn’t bring yourself to focus. Your first year at UA was a nightmare. Grades slipping, staring off into space while a lesson was happening, constantly forgetting your belongings either in your dorm or in the classroom, etc.
Aizawa wanted nothing more than to help you. Despite his cold and unforgiving demeanor, he may or may not have developed a soft spot for you and a few others. He saw your great potential, so he made you a meeting with recovery girl and your parents as well as Principal Nezu and a few of your teachers.
Now in the middle of all of this, it was the beginning of your second year. Hitoshi had now joined class 2-A and you couldn’t be happier. You two had been good friends since the sports festival after you absolutely lost your mind, cackling and pointing at an angry Katsuki when Shinsou said he “Sounded like an ass”
From that day forward the two of you were practically inseparable, despite him being the biggest introvert in the world. You took him under your wing, not literally because he now stood at a whopping 6’2, having hit a growth spurt over the summer. His voice became raspier and deeper of that was even possible and there was just something about him that glowed.
It didn’t take long before your year long friendship became a summer romance. It was everything you’d ever dreamed of. You truly believed in the saying “opposites attract” you and Hitoshi were living proof of that.
Hitoshi knew you struggled, discussing it with his mentor, Aizawa, sometimes when they trained together. The insomniac was driving himself insane this school year. While being new to the hero course, he also had to keep you accountable for almost anything and everything.
He was stressed beyond measure trying to make sure that you remembered your homework, cleaning your messy room, reminding you to do little things, and keeping you focused. He loves you, he truly does! But he wished for it to be easier on the both of you.
Currently, you sat in a meeting room with your parents, recovery girl, principal Nezu and a few of your teachers, as mentioned previously. You were just beyond embarrassed despite everyone thinking that they were helping you.
“So what needs to be done?” Your mother inquired as your father nodded in agreement. What had been discussed was the blatant adhd that you had and how it was effecting your ability to perform well academically.
“Well” Recovery Girl begins “Is she on any medication for this?” The older woman asks and your parents glance at each other. They had always avoided putting you on medications like this, believing that it wouldn’t be good for you.
In all honesty, they had never had a sit down meeting to discuss your situation before, therefore not realizing how bad it was. The reasoning for that being that this was the first time in your life that you had a healthy environment to learn in and teachers who actually cared about you and your future.
“No, we don’t think that would be good for her” your father states, patting you on the shoulder causing you to snap out of your daydreaming and look up at the adults around you.
“Hm?” You turn to your father and Aizawa sighs deeply. He truly believed you would thrive and be one of his best students academically if you just had the necessary medicine to help you.
“Look I think it would be beneficial for her academically, one of our other students is in the same boat as her” your teacher begins “and when he actually remembers to take his medication he is one of my best students”
“I just don’t know” your mother bites the nail of her thumb while glancing at you “She lives in the dorms, we wouldn’t be able to look after her all the time”
“I can assure you, we have excellent staff here on campus that will make sure your daughter is well taken care of” Principal Nezu tells your parents to reassure them.
“What are we talking about?” You turn to your mother and your parents looks at each other knowingly. It wasn’t what they wanted for you but it seemed to be the most beneficial option.
“We’ll go through with the meds” your mother nods reluctantly at recovery girl who nods with a warm smile and writes down the ‘okay’ on the slip of paper to get the meds ordered.
“Meds?” You question your parents and they look at you once more. Your dad sighs before answering “Your teachers think that putting you on medication for your adhd will help you”
“Wait you’re actually gonna let me get meds?” You grin silently thanking your teachers. You’d tried to convince your parents since your last year in middle school that you would do a lot better if you were meditating for your condition, as adhd had caused your life to be chaotic in a way that became overwhelming at times with your thoughts facing a million miles a minute or just simply blanking on important things.
“Well we’re still skeptical but we’re willing to try it for now” they explain and you grin from ear to ear. This was the start of a new beginning for you. You hoped and prayed that this would be the solution to majority of the problems you’d been facing.
After the meeting, you met up with Hitoshi back in the dorms. The two of you sat in the teenage boy’s bedroom and just snuggled in silence. Something the two of you didn’t do very often. Of course, the two of you made time to snuggle up in bed almost daily since moving to the dorms. Not having parents looming over your shoulders, making sure you weren’t under the same blanket, or assuring that the door was kept open was nice.
Having parents who were quite strict was not very fun when it came to having a boyfriend. You thanked your lucky stars that you lived in dorms now and your boyfriend was in the same class as you. It meant that every so often you two would partake in some making out, not too much as you both expressed not being ready for sex but a little kissing and some groping never hurt.
As you had your head on his firm chest it felt weird to be silent so of course you had to break it. You let out a heavy sigh causing your purple haired lover to open one eye and glance down at you. “Everything okay?” He inquires.
“Yeah sorry, just felt weird to be quiet” you giggle and kick your feet against his shins making him smile and roll his eyes. God, he loved you so much it was almost physically painful when he thought about it. “I figured” he chuckles softly and gently runs his fingertips over the exposed skin of your shoulder.
He had never met someone who was so unapologetically themself. Most people being fake and putting on personas all day to impress others. But nope! Not you! You were so shameless and he adored it.
“I’m getting medicine” you start to speak once more while looking up at him through your eyelashes. He furrows his eyebrows in confusion, about to ask what you meant but you continued to speak “The teachers think it will help me be a better student” you say “Cause ya know… I’ve got cool guy syndrome” you giggle, referencing a vine.
“Hm?” He looks at you confused and you burst out laughing “It’s a vine Toshi! Got diagnosed with cool guy syndrome, so now I take adderall!” You continue your fit of laughter.
“You’re absolutely ridiculous” he slightly smiles and pulls you closer to him as your giggles die down. He sighs gently, feeling relaxed before his eyes shot open in realization at what you had told him “Wait a second…” he catches your attention once more and you hum for him to continue.
“They’re trying to medicate you?!” He sounds surprised if anything “For what?” He continues as you trace shapes onto the old t-shirt he wore.
“For my cool guy syndrome” you stare at him blankly wondering if he was even listening to you the first time you said something “My adhd” you tell him “Don’t act like you don’t know I’ve got it!” giggles erupt from you once again.
“Oh trust me” he raises his eyebrows while closing his eyes and nodding his head that rested on one of his many pillows “I know” he pokes fun at you, earning a playful swat to the chest in return.
“Not nice!” You exclaimed, pretending to be offended by his words “I’m so nice” he continues to lay with his eyes closed “Now kiss me” he gently caresses the back of your head
You giggle in response as the two of you begin to passionately make out. This was perfect, you wouldn’t trade it for anything. The warm glow of the sunset through the cracks his blackout curtains illuminating your skin as you climbed to straddle his lap
The kisses were fiery as the two of you swapped saliva, it building up onto your bottom lip and at the corner of your mouth. You didn’t care. The only thing that mattered right now was Hitoshi. As you continued to explore his mouth and lips with your own, the insomniac felt tingling sensations all over his body. He slightly opened one eye, staring up at his dorm room ceiling which held place for a “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” tapestry that was illuminated by his bedside lamp. It reminded him of you two.
His eyes rolled back and he closed them as he felt your top teeth gently graze his bottom lip. “mmm~” he hummed in satisfaction causing you feel butterflies in your stomach. It was all too good, the overwhelming feeling of passion and love. And then it happened— the word vomit.
“Mph-“ Hitoshi made a noise as you broke the kiss “Hey, why’d you st-“
“I love you!” You blurt out as you brace yourself on his chest with the palms of your hands. You felt as if a weight had been lifted off of your shoulders. But a new one pulled you back to reality as you saw the baffled look on your lovers face—eyebrows furrowed, mouth slightly agape.
The two of you hadn’t said it yet. Hitoshi was very particular about who he used that phrase with. Less than a handful of people heard it from him close family, and even then, it was rare. He wasn’t the type of person to throw the term around loosely. It meant something to him.
You, of course, being the opposite— told people you loved them any chance you got! Always wanting to remind your friends and family of how much they meant to you. So if you throw the term around so carelessly, why hadn’t you said it to Hitoshi until now?
The truth of the matter was, you’d been insecure to say it to him when you’d caught onto his habits of saying ‘I love you’ afraid of him not reciprocating the feelings just yet.
It’s not that he didn’t want to say it to you, he just had never said it to a romantic partner. You weren’t his first girlfriend— he had been a victim of one of those week long middle school relationships where the couple made absolutely no sense together.
Maybe the same thing could be said about the two of you to those who don’t know you guys or your relationship well enough. He’s closed off, reserved, cold, and melancholic. You’re outgoing, loud, comical, and so unapologetically yourself.
When Hitoshi came to his senses, you were babbling apologies with upturned eyebrows that creased the skin in between them and you looked as if you could cry.
“I shouldn’t have said it so suddenly! I’m so fucking stupi-“
“Don’t you dare finish that statement” He warned, gently scolding— and you looked like a deer in the headlights. This reaction was typical when you said something degrading about yourself, he hated it when you did.
“I love you too” he spoke in his typical raspy voice and your expression lit up as you smiled from ear to ear.
“You really mean that?” You grinned like an idiot. He chucked in response to your facial expression
“Definitely” he firmly states and you grab the collar of the old t shirt he wore, yanking him up to meet your lips— wrapping your arms around the back of his neck in the process while his hands found their way to your ass, groping it.
The two of you proceeded to french kiss, your hands becoming tangled in the wild lavender locks, kissing until you felt dizzy from lack of oxygen. You pulled away, the both of you panting as you caught your breath. By this time, the sun had set leaving the room darkened the only source of light being the dimly lit lamp on his bedside table, the warm glow making him look absolutely irresistible as he panted and looked at you, tired eyes full of lust and love.
“I want things to be like this forever Toshi” you breathe out and he looks up at you from where you were slightly taller than him for this particular moment.
“Me too”
By the next afternoon your medication was ready in recovery girls office. Aizawa had received the phone call with 5 minutes left to spare in the school day.
The classroom of 2-A bustling with chatter as students discussed weekend plans among their friend groups. It was Friday afternoon and the students were excited beyond measure for the weekend.
You sat on top of Hitoshi’s desk while he still sat in the seat of it. He admired the way your skirt rode up your plump thighs ever so slightly leaving the rest to his own imagination. He wasn’t particularly perverted towards you, but he’s a teenage boy with a hot ass girlfriend! Cut him some slack!
Hitoshi’s desk resided right in between yours and Denki’s so the whole squad was gathered around as you all chatted “I’m so excited for this weekend!” You exclaimed “Arcade and group dinner on Saturday and then Ice cream on Sunday afternoon!”
“I know!” Denki exclaims “It’s gonna be so lit!” The electric teen continues earning a scoff from Bakugo who was trying to act nonchalant, having been dragged over here by Kirishima “Nobody says lit anymore stupid!” He spat, mocking Denki’s tone when saying the word lit.
“Just because you have the mentality of an 80 year old grandpa doesn’t mean we do!” Mina retorted in Denki’s defense which caused the group to erupt in laughter minus Bakugo who scowled deeply and Hitoshi who cracked a small smile
“Oop- you got Shinsou to smile!” Denki pointed out earning an eye roll from your boyfriend while the classroom phone began to ring, Aizawa asking the class to settle down while he picked it up “You wish” was his simple comeback making you giggle as you opened your mouth to say something you were interrupted
“(Name), go to recovery girls office” he caught your attention while writing a hall pass at his desk. “Oh okay” you simply respond disregarding that the bell was set to ring in less than 5 minutes and leaving your backpack behind as well as all of your school supplies on your desk.
Pencils, highlighters, a binder and a few papers that roughly stick out of the unorganized binder. The state of your backpack and school supplies further representing the opposites attract aspects of you and Hitoshi’s relationship. His things were all neat and clean while you just left a trail of chaos wherever you went.
“Thanks teach” you grin as you take the slip from Aizawa and walk out the door as he shook his head at your playful nature, a smile threatening to form, you really were one of his favorites.
Just as you stride into recovery girls office the bell rings “oh damn I won’t be able to walk with my friends” you sigh quietly, thinking they wouldn’t wait up.
Just then recovery girl walks out of her office “Is that you, (Name)?”
“Yup the one and only” you grin immediately retracting your statement “Well… I’m sure I’m not the only person named (Name), but I think I’m the only one at this school…” you begin to rant, becoming sidetracked “Wait maybe not..” you ponder some more only adding fuel to the fire in recovery girls eyes of why you needed these meds.
“Okay dear, you’re going to start these tomorrow morning, I’ve attached a note to the bag” she gestured to the brown paper bag with your name on it. “You’re starting tomorrow so that we can keep ordering them and get them for exactly when you run out. It will be a cycle” she explains and you just nod, mind wandering to what your friends were doing right now.
“Mhm okay got it!” You tell her before thanking her for her help and turning to leave campus for the weekend.
Back in the classroom, just as your friends watched you leave with questioning looks Bakugo broke the silence “Well where the hell is she going?!”
“Woah careful now, people might think you care” Kirishima laughs elbowing the angry blonde which causes him to retaliate in his usual nature “Shut the hell up! Nobody cares about that spazzy bitch!”
As the squad was taken aback by what he had said about you, their dear friend. Mina opened her mouth to defend you. However, someone else did it for her I care about her” he firmly stated “Why don’t you stop being such an ass, and while you’re at it, don’t you dare call her anything like that again” his tone was cold.
“Damnnnn” Kirishima and Sero said in unison while grinning like idiots at Bakugo’s pissed off expression. “Shut the fuck up you emo bitch! Like actually!” Bakugo shouted earning a warning from his teacher.
“Watch the language!” The man scolded in his usual melancholic manner. Bakugo scoffed and rolled his eyes, not having the energy to deal with another phone call home. The last thing he wanted was to deal with his mom being pissed off at him, like more than usual.
The bell rang, as students rushed to get back to the dorms, Hitoshi sat for just a second longer and sighed deeply. Before grabbing his black school bag that sat beside him on the floor and getting up to leave, swinging one strap onto his shoulder.
Your boyfriend just so happened to glance over at your desk and thank goodness he did. The scattered school supplies all over your desk from the assignment in which the class had been instructed to do for the last hour of the day.
Everyone had finished it pretty quickly, walking to turn it in to the basket as you began to sweat when you looked down and realized you were still on the third question out of the seven you were supposed to answer.
As the class had begun to bustle with chatter when they finished their work, you looked as if you could rip your own hair out! You had been growing more and more frustrated by the minute. Hitoshi noticed the look on your face.
“Calm down, I’ll help you” your boyfriend turned to you from his seat, having been one of the first few people to finish and always willing to help you, just you.
As he gently explained the questions to you, it became obvious that you were the last one in the class who was working. Even Kaminari had finished with a little bit of forced help from Jirou. But that was only for the last question, as he was confused about the wording, only needing it to be read to him using slightly different words.
“I’m so fucking dumb” you spoke lowly and harshly as you used one hand to grip at the sleeve of your school uniform top, evidently showing your frustration, something that happened often when he was helping you study. “I hate myself and-“ you sounded as if you could cry. Only Hitoshi heard, he furrows his thick—slightly unkept—lavender brows in response, interrupting you before you could say anything else to bring yourself down. “I don’t date dumb people” he starts
“I thought we agreed that you wouldn’t be so hard on yourself” he crosses his arms over his chest before continuing “Take a deep breath. I’m here to help, you know I always am.”
And with that statement, you looked over at him like he was absolutely everything and more. He really was in your eyes! “Thanks” you slightly smile before picking your pencil back up, ready to accept your boyfriend’s help.
Hitoshi smirked at the memory, the events that had taken place less than an hour ago. He never truly valued himself until he met you. When he realized what was going on with you and how much support you truly needed he found it easier to value himself. He spent quite a bit of time reminding you to love yourself that he felt it would’ve been hypocritical of him to not at the very least value himself.
He began to gather your things and place them in your filthy backpack that was littered with wrappers, crumpled assignments, broken pencils, etc. He sighed heavily making a mental note to help you clean this out over the weekend. He just couldn’t stand the disorganization, he couldn’t imagine how you functioned like this!
Shinsou hadn’t even realized he was the only student left in the classroom. “She left her stuff again?” His mentors gruff voice echoed through the empty room as he typed away on his computer while drinking a cup of coffee to keep himself at least functioning.
The teen sighs heavily “Yeah, it’s not her fault though” he shows understanding, compassion if you will. It’s something that Aizawa never used to see from his mentee. He couldn’t help the slight smile that burned at his facial features, threatening to become more than small. It was hard not to.
Since last year when he began preparing Shinsou for the hero course in secret, he noticed the boys cold demeanor. Never showing much emotion. That was until you came along, it was like a switch flipped. Call Aizawa crazy but he thinks that all Hitoshi needed was a friend. A true friend, someone to keep him company. You were just that for him at the time.
During the blossoming of your friendship with the insomniac, the mentor noticed a shift in mood from the boy. He seemed to appear more confident and relaxed. Now, since school had let out for the summer, Aizawa didn’t do much training with his mentee, already assuring that he was in the hero course. They only met up once a week for minor training of the scarf work.
During this period of time he caught Hitoshi on more occasions than one smiling at his phone before and after sessions. Aizawa wasn’t one to be nosey but he cared about Shinsou, having grown exceptionally close to the boy. He wonders who or what was making him smile so often.
Then he realized. You were waiting outside for your now boyfriend when he finished his workout. And the two of you proceeded to walk down the street to the boba shop off campus hand in hand. Despite the straight faced look he had in that moment, it warmed him to know that two of his favorite students were happy together. As a teacher, there was no better feeling than seeing your students happy. (Guys this is where I realized I’m yapping and I have no idea where the rest of this story is going lmfao bare with me)
As you walk out of recovery girls office, playing some dumb TikTok video on your phone you completely disregarded anything being in your way as everyone had already left the building for the weekend.
However, you were incorrect. As you double tapped to like a video you ran smack dab into someone’s back “oof-!” The person said
“Oh sorry! I-“ you look up after coming to and recognizing that wild lavender hair anywhere! “Pfft! Hitoshi why’d you make that sound!” You begin to crack yourself up replaying the noise over and over in your mind.
“Yeah yeah, so funny” he playfully rolls his eyes as you begin to walk off ahead of him “Come on Toshi, let’s go back!” You excitedly say
“Ahem!” He clears his throat and you turn to look over your shoulder “Hm?” You hum in confusion
“Forgetting something?” He raises an eyebrow
“No!” You respond quickly “Not this?” He holds up your school bag and you slap your forehead with the palm of your hand “Oh my gosh what would I do without you Toshi?!”
“I don’t even want to begin to think about you not being with me” he intertwines your fingers to hold hands as the two of you walk back to the dorm building
Fast forward to the next morning. You walked into the common room kitchen and dining area, completely groggy and unaware of your surroundings, still waking up. You could have stayed in bed longer but the pangs of hunger in your stomach cared to disagree. So you decided that you would quickly come down and have some breakfast and if you were still tired after that, you would most likely be going back to bed.
The clock on the coffee machine —that Bakugo insisted the class had to have— read 9:03 am. You yawned as you reached for a bowl. Hitoshi had bought you some Açaí mix earlier this week and you were stoked to have it!
As you put the desired amount of mix and toppings in your bowl you happily stride over to the one of the empty tables. You were the only one down here at this time. Students either sleeping in or already out training. You were the type to train in the late afternoon or night. Not ever feeling up to the idea of working out first thing in the morning.
As you sat at the table alone you drummed your fingertips against the wood with your free hand while the other focused on eating. The bowl was absolutely delicious, you made a mental note to remember what you put in here for tomorrow morning.
You sighed as the silence of the room felt awkward. You could hear the air conditioning system going in and out and there was a slight ringing sound to the air. Just as you began to pay attention to your surroundings the elevator door dinged signaling the arrival of another classmate. You turned with a smile, happy to have someone to talk to! And by luck, it was the one person you always wanted to see.
“Good morning Toshi” you wave at your boyfriend and he gives a halfhearted, tired wave back. You can guarantee he didn’t get much sleep last night so he’s probably exhausted this morning like usual. You knew of his insomnia and early on in your friendship, you often tried to power through the night and stay with him but you always seemed to fail, waking up the next morning to your alarms pretty much well rested while your friend looked like he hadn’t slept in days.
You took his insomnia seriously before, but even more so now that the two of you were dating. “Did you sleep last night?” You curiously ask, turning around in your chair as your boyfriend grabbed an apple from the fruit basket on the counter and started brewing coffee.
“I think you know the answer to that” he starts chucking and you nod in understanding “Sorry I fell asleep so quickly last night” you tell him “ I know I should stay up with you I was just exhausted” you try to explain but he shuts it down quickly
“No need to worry about me” he tells you “if it makes you feel any better I got 45 minutes of sleep” he reassures you
“That’s not enough but I’ll take it!” You grin and he looks over at you with a smirk before grabbing his ‘eraser head’ mug from the cabinet to pour the warm coffee into the ceramic mug. He opted to put just a bit of vanilla creamer into the drink to sweeten it up just a bit.
The two of you chatted for a bit as the common area started to house more students as they came down for breakfast or came back from training sessions. “Well I should probably clean up” you look down at your plastic bowl with the stains of açaí.
“Don’t forget your medicine” he rubs his thumb over the back of your hand and your expression lights up “Oh yeah! I totally forgot!” You smile as you pick the bowl up and head to the sink with it. You rinse the dish before putting it into the dishwasher and then proceeding to grab the brown bag with your name out of the medicine cabinet.
You ripped the paper open and took out the orange bottle of medication with your name on the label. After preparing yourself a glass of water you downed the pill with ease, dumping out the remaining water and putting the cup in the dishwasher when you were done.
—————
After an eventful afternoon at the arcade with your friends and boyfriend. The group all settled into a circular booth at a chill restaurant that you all often liked to frequent. The menu had a variety of comfort foods that everyone could enjoy and the atmosphere was a fun vibe.
“I might go for the pizza this time” Denki makes conversation as the group looked over their menus “Yeah right dude” Sero gently punched his friend in the arm “You say that every time and you always get the ramen!” he laughs making the others laugh as well. (A/N: Guys I suck at dialogue scenes forgive me lmfao)
As you continue to laugh at the squad’s antics— like you had been doing all afternoon— you notice a slight pang of nausea that fulfills your senses. You stop your breathless laughter and opt for a smaller giggle and smile in the moment. This doesn’t go unnoticed by your boyfriend or your friends, however, they don’t think too much of it as you can’t just sit and laugh forever.
You swallow thickly as the fatigue begins to wash over your muscles. It isn’t unbearable but it wasn’t something you usually felt until you were in bed and ready to fall asleep.
As the drinks are sat in front of you, you soon begin to regret choosing a fizzy sugary drink. You look over at your boyfriend— who opted for a cold glass of water— and eyed him as he took a sip. (A/N: If that made you thirsty DRINK SOME FREAKING WATER!!)
“Can I have some?” You lowly ask him and he glances at you with his lavender eyes through thick, furrowed brows of confusion. “Sure..?” He continues the look of confusion as he slides the glass a few inches over to you. You take a small sip, feeling a bit relieved as the ice cold water enters your system. The fatigue, however, still present in your system as well as the noticeable nausea.
“Have the rest” he tells you as the group continues to chat amongst themselves “I’ll order another one” and you nod as you rest your cheek on the palm of your hand and try to just listen to the conversation at hand.
As it came time to order food you couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the menu. Nothing looking appeasing anymore. It was strange, this was one of your favorite places to eat and you’ve tried all of your favorite food items that were offered here at least once.
As the group but their order in on the kiosk that sat on the table it finally got around to you and Hitoshi to put your food on your part of the bill. Your lavender haired boyfriend opted for some soup dumplings and a small order of ramen.
“Pick whatever you want” he gently smiles at you as your eyes glance at him. As you scan your eyes over the screen and all of the photo options that were offered you had ultimately decided you weren’t hungry. Not wanting to voice that to everyone— knowing they would make a big deal of it and repeatedly ask you what was wrong— you just closed you and Hitoshi’s ticket and passed the kiosk to Denki, who happily accepted it. “Thank you, sparks” he grins
“Yeah, take it easy” Hitoshi glares at him and the nickname he gave you, earning a laugh from the electric teen before turning his attention to you.
“You didn’t get anything” he tells you what you already know and you just shrug in response to him, not having much to say as you lean your back onto the booth, slouching, you knew Bakugo would be on your ass for it as soon as he got back from the bathroom.
“ ‘m not very hungry” you hum earning a concerned look from your boyfriend. “You feeling okay?” He presses the back of his (A/N: very attractive) hand to your forehead, and then your cheek, plumping it to crease your eye slightly up as he presses to the skin. “You’re not warm at all” he mumbles to you. “What’s g-“ he was interrupted
“Okay! Everybody ordered?” Mina asked as she was about to print the ticket to take it to the counter with Sero. Everyone nods and tells her they have. You saw Shinsou open his mouth to begin to tell her that you had not but the way you slouched, the way you looked as if you wanted to to be left alone, he knew that you didn’t need to be forced to eat anything— no matter how much he hated the idea of you being hungry— he knew that if you came around you could always order something to go or pick at his food.
By the time the food was all prepared and brought to the table, the squad had undoubtedly noticed that you had nothing in front of you. Bakugo, surprisingly, was the first to call it out.
“Where’s your fuckin’ food?!” He glared at you, he had a pretty poor way of showing it, but this was how he showed that he cared. You didn’t say anything, not noticing he even said anything to you. His words caught the attention of the table.
“Where’s your food?” Sero questioned
“Did you order something?” Kirishima inquired
“Are you hungry?” Denki stared at you with eyes as big as saucers, usually the two of you absolutely obliterated the food from here, often pacting together last year to order a bunch of different entrees and appetizers and split the bill.
“Maybe they missed it! I’ll go check-“ Mina began to get up before Hitoshi spoke up “She’s not hungry she said” he gave her a look that said ‘I don’t know what’s going on’ while slightly shrugging his shoulders. She understood and sat back down before looking over at you with furrowed —perfectly plucked— eyebrows
You sat in the corner of the booth, knees to your chest and you leaned your head, sideways, onto the back platform that connected the booth to the wall with your eyes closed. The only way they knew you weren’t sleeping was by the knit in your eyebrows. You looked like you were in pain.
“You okay?” Kirishima asked and you lifted your head up and nodded a reluctant ‘yes’ before verbally answering him “Yeah, my stomach hurts” you sigh as you look at the squad eating their variety of foods that they ordered. All kinds ranging from Chicken Tenders, Salads, Pizza Slices, Ramen, Dumplings, Etc.
Were you hungry or not feeling well? Or did your stomach hurt because you were hungry? You didn’t even know what to think. Why did you even feel this way?! You almost never felt like this!
“Then you should eat something, stupid” Bakugo retorts after swallowing a mouthful of ramen. You shook your head with a sigh and leaned it onto your boyfriends sturdy shoulder. He turned his head in surprise at the sudden contact. His expression softened when he saw your face, the tired look on your features, a look that wasn’t normally there.
You just shake your head ‘no’ leaving Bakugo to scoff and return to his food, scowling at your sudden stubbornness. Typically when he told you to do something you said something along the lines of “Aye-eye captain” or “You got it boss man” while wither saluting him or clicking your tongue with finger guns. He thought it pissed him off, but now he was even more upset at the fact that —one— you were being stubborn. And —two— you just told him no.
By the end of dinner you were ready to either puke, collapse in bed, or both. You used Hitoshi for support walking out of the restaurant as you yawned. As soon as the group was in the parking lot your boyfriend, being the impressively strong gentleman that he is, picked you up and opted to carry you to his car, sying his goodbyes to your friend group for you despite the fact that you were all headed back to the same place.
Well, minus Denki and Sero. The two fools were going gas station hopping. Normally you’d beg Hitoshi to tag along as the three of you set out on a side quest, not afraid of curfew. You’d drag Hitoshi into Sero’s car, drive to all kinds of late night convenience stores and gas stations and drink endless slushes and eat god awful amounts of junk food (I should make a separate fic of that)
And when it was all over, Denki and Sero would go try to catch fish off of a bridge that sheltered a small stream below with a small kids fishing pole that they found on the side of the road one night. All while you and Hitoshi made out in the back seat of Sero’s ‘67 Camaro.
Gosh, you wanted nothing more than to partake in those nightly adventures now. But the nausea that sat in the pit of your stomach screamed at you to just get in the passenger seat of Hitoshi’s car and just curl up and die.
I mean, not to be dramatic or anything but you felt like you could die. Okay so you were definitely being only slightly dramatic. It’s just some fatigue and nausea. Wait, you’re afraid of throwing up… okay now the panic can set in.
As your boyfriend gently set you down so you could stand on the concrete he opened the door for you like the gentleman he always is. He helps you into the car and says a quick “buckle up” referring to your seatbelt before closing your door and walking to the drivers side.
“You okay?” He simply asks you as he tries to get you two back to the dorms as soon as possible. He was worried about you. It wasn’t typical for you to get sick, not around this time of year at least. You just nod and reassure him with a simple “Mhm” as you lean your head on the cool glass of the window. He wasn’t buying what you were selling…
As soon as the two of you entered the parking lot of the heights alliance he parked in the closest student spot he could find and then —again, like the gentleman he is— he carried you all the way into the 2-A dorms building and all the way up to your room. The whole time you just leaned your tired head into his shoulder, ignoring the passing glances and questioning whispers of your peers.
“You must be coming down with something” he ponders as he opens your drawers to find you something to wear to bed. “I don’t think so, I just feel tired and a little nauseous” you brush it off like it was fine.
“Right…” he narrows his eyes at you, speaking in a confused tone that said “I don’t believe you”. Hitoshi was fully convinced that you were coming down with some kind of stomach bug. What else could be making you feel this way..?
The next day was no different. You woke up fine, ate breakfast, took your medication, and showered to get ready for the ice cream adventure your friends were planning.
Around 11:30 was when you started to feel sluggish again. You sat on the couch playing Mario Kart with Denki and Mina when it overtook your body.
Hitoshi was lazily sprawled out on the couch while you were beating Denki by a long shot. Mina was up next to play the winner “Denki looks like you’re gonna have to give me that controller!” Mina poked fun at him and he visibly pouts.
“Not fair” he whined as you, in first place came around the track and knocked him off a cliff. He was already in 12th place and a whole lap behind you and all of the bots. “Hey!” He frowned, mouth agape and eyebrows knitted together in frustration and betrayal.
“Sorry Denks’ “ you giggle and complete the race — the feeling of fatigue washing over you—
“Give me the controller Denki!” Mina argued with him like they were siblings “No way! She picked a hard map on purpose!” He counters back as they continue to bicker
“Stop being immature and give her the controller” Shinsou moderated the fight as if he was their babysitter
“I’m gonna go lay down” you simply state as you feel the sluggishness take over your muscles “I’m tired” you tell them and they look confused. This is what you did at dinner last night, moved slow, talked in the same melancholy tone. It was getting weird. Especially considering that you were just fine a few minutes ago.
“Aw why?” Denki complained and you shrugged “I don’t know I just don’t feel good again” you state as you make your way to the elevator, Hitoshi scrambling to get off the couch and follow you. This whole event leaving Mina and Denki very confused as they exchange glances.
You ended up crashing on Hitoshi’s chest, sleeping for hours that afternoon while he just opted for watching videos on his phone, rubbing your back gently as you slept.
He didn’t want to question you about it, as he figured maybe it was a hormonal girly thing he didn’t know about. He didn’t want to ask out of the fear of embarrassing you or something. He knew that if it really mattered you would tell him. Of course, he knew what a menstrual cycle was, but you normally didn’t act this way when on your period. So, he figured it was something different that happens to girls.
You ended up skipping ice cream that afternoon while you slept, leaving your friends to also think that you were coming down with a cold or stomach bug. They were just as confused as Hitoshi was by your sudden change in sleep and behavior.
The following weeks were interesting to say the least. Still, you followed your morning routine with the help of Hitoshi. Wake up well rested, excited to start the day. Eat something before taking your medication, get ready for the day and then off to school. And just an hour or so before lunch you’d lose your appetite and become horribly exhausted. More often than not spending your lunches napping in recovery girls office.
Hitoshi never minded, he would just sit beside your bed in a chair, covering you with a blanket, and scrolling through his phone while eating whatever he brought to snack on for lunch.
Recovery girl had questioned you on your sleeping habits once when you first started coming into her office for naps. You simply shrugged and blamed it on poor sleeping patterns assuming that your body just required more sleep at this point in time.
It wasn’t just the mid day naps that had your friends confused. It was your dullness. You rarely joked around anymore, mostly slightly laughing or smiling at their shenanigans or not at all. You just couldn’t find the energy to be humorous anymore which was awful in your friends opinion. But you didn’t notice and couldn’t help it, so focused on how exhausted you were all the time.
Every day after school (even if you had a mid-day nap) you would trudge up to Hitoshi’s room and either sleep on his bed while he was out training or studying at his desk, or you would sleep soundly on his chest while he rubbed your back like he always did.
Hitoshi didn’t mind that you were suddenly so tired all the time, he could never blame you for something that you obviously couldn’t help. Although, he missed the eccentric conversations the two of you would have every day after school while snuggling. Yes, he missed making out with you but nothing could compare to your wild and “all over the place” conversations that you would have with him.
Now you were just dull. You barely said anything before completely crashing after school and sleeping for endless hours until he either carried your sleeping form back to your room or you woke up and he walked you to your room while tucking you in bed for the night.
And when you were awake and aware it’s like you were on another planet. Often just looking around the room, not focused on the conversation or you were hyper focused— just staring and barely making conversation.
There was something going on with your body. He just couldn’t figure out what could’ve been wrong. However, you started to figure it out. Ever since you’d been taking the meds you’ve been like this. It had to be the medication that was messing you up!! The only problem was, you were afraid that if you told someone what was going on you would have to be off of them and you would go back to being annoying and off task all the time.
You were able to focus better in class which, in turn, made assignments and homework easier. How did you get homework done when you were sleeping all the time? Simple, your sleep schedule is so fucked that you’ve been involuntarily waking up at 5am every morning, unable to sleep again. Also, it’s rare that Aizawa hands out any homework.
So, despite you feeling sick and miserable all the time your grades were showing some slow but steady improvement. Your parents and teachers were so pleased with your academic performance these past few weeks they made points to complement you. Even if you were at a C-B average, they made a point to let you know that they were proud of you. That felt so nice, you’d never been complemented on your academics before!
Despite that, things seemed to go just a bit downhill. You couldn’t quite achieve anything higher for your grades due to the fact that you were barely hanging on in class, on the verge of falling asleep nearly every day by lunch time.
That just so happened to be your science course hour with Aizawa. And if that wasn’t bad enough, you were not the best at science this year. You’d been okay before with minimal understanding, science got more and more difficult every year. You were always fine with the stupid “solid, liquid, gas” bs. And now that they’ve added some math..? You’re screwed!
As you sit, blankly staring in front of you, forcing yourself to keep your eyes open Aizawa is yapping on and on about some kind of formula that you should know for the exam tomorrow.
Wait..? Exam?! Tomorrow?! Your brain is suddenly on overdrive. When was the last time you’d even studied for science?! You guys hadn’t had a test in months! And even then, you didn’t study for them! This reflected on your scores that you would receive in this test.
As you were internally panicking the lunch bell rang, saving you from this horribly bright classroom, off to recovery girls office you went! As you packed your bag alongside your other classmates, majority of them had already shuffled out of the classroom.
“(Name), come here for a second” Aizawa called you over to his desk. Hitoshi looked questioningly, at you before you waved him off. “Go ahead Toshi, I’ll be right there” he knew you were referring to the nurses office where —as mentioned previously— he would sit in a chair beside your bed while you slept and gently rub your back so you could doze off, like he always did for you.
“Okay I’ll see you in a bit” he waves before saying bye to Aizawa and walking out the door of the classroom. You hastily approached your teachers desk and he gave you a longing stare as he took in your appearance. You looked different, and not in a good way. He had been so busy these past few weeks — especially with exams coming up— he hadn’t truly been paying attention to the little things.
“You know that you need to pass this exam in order to meet grade level standards this semester right?” He questions and you hesitantly nod “Well I didn’t know all that, but I’ve got this” you give him a reassuring, yet tired smile.
“Okay” he said quietly resting his chin on his palm. He took one more glance at you before asking “Are you feeling okay?” He leans back in his chair.
“Yeah I’m fine” you shrug “My sleep schedule is just off right now. So I’m just a little tired” you smile but he sees the way it falters.
“Get some rest tonight” he simply states “You’ll need it for your exam in the morning”
“Thank you, sensei” you wave before turning and walking out the door, down the long hallway, down the stairs, and to the right.
In the nurses office Hitoshi was already waiting in a chair, snacking on some chips. “Napping again?” Recovery Girl calls from her office “That’s the third time this week!” She exclaimed
“I know, I’ll fix my sleep schedule this weekend!” You reassured her “Very good dear” she smiles at you. That was your queue to go crash on the bed for lunch hour.
You laid down facing away from Hitoshi, curling up into a ball as he covered you up with a blanket. “Get some rest sweet girl” he rubs your back and you’re out like a light.
The rest of the day was no different. You woke up feeling better, got through most of the day and by the end of your last class, you were ready for another nap. Although, you knew you had to study for your exam in the morning, so maybe you should just stay awake this afternoon.
As the bell rang, you were quick to pack up your stuff. Until you were interrupted by Denki “Hey sparks, we’re all gonna do a group study sesh if you’re interested!” He exclaimed referring to Mina, Kirishima, Sero, and himself.
“Bakugo’s not helping?” You cock an eyebrow wondering who in the world was gonna keep them focused if he wasn’t there.
“Nah he’s mad at us right now!” He exclaims referring to an incident that happened at lunch the other day. But how would you know that? You were sleeping. This was how you realized you hadn’t been spending any time with your friends lately.
“Since when is he mad to the point of not talking to anyone, not even Kirishima..?” You ponder to the blonde and he shakes his head
“Nah I called him a colossal back at lunch on Tuesday because he got up to get more snacks and he got so pissed!” Denki cackles just as Hitoshi comes up and puts a gentle hand on your shoulder. You tilt your head back, looking up at him. “Oh hey Toshi!” You softly smile
“You ready to go?” He asks and you nod “Should we go to the group study session my friends are having?” You ask him and he shakes his head no. “Meh, you do it if you want but I prefer studying alone” he shrugs his shoulders
“You study with me all the t-“ you knit your eyebrows “Let’s go!” He speaks quickly before ushering you out the door
“I’m a little tired but maybe I’ll come down for a bit!” You tell Denki before he nods and dashes off to meet up with Sero who was walking a ways in front of you.
“ ‘m gonna chill in my room for a bit before studying” Hitoshi tells you upon entering the elevator at the dorms “You wanna come or are you gonna go study?” He turns his head to you as you press the button to your floor.
“Yeah, I’m gonna change then go down” you smile at him and he nods “Alright then, I’ll see you later” he kisses your lips before walking out of the elevator as this was his stop.
You don’t know how long it had been. The last thing you remember was laying down on your bed. You woke up in a cold sweat, it was dark outside.
You quickly check your phone, blinking harshly to adjust to the light of the screen. 12:34am
Followed by texts from various friends
Mina🎀
Hey girlie! No pressure but we’re downstairs studying if you wanna join!
Denki 🤡
We’re ordering pizza if you wanna come down :3
Sero✨
Pizzas here if you want some before Bakugos big back ass eats it all
Kiri🪨
You doing okay? You’re probs sleeping so I don’t wanna bother you
Toshi😻
Come over if you’re awake, I miss you!
I love you!
Yeah you should probably be sleeping, I’m sorry you’re so tired lately. I wish I could help!
You know I’m always here if you wanna talk to me
You blink. You’d been asleep for 6 hours, now feeling wide awake, you began to let the panic set in as you remember the exam tomorrow.
“Oh fuck!” You hiss, moving to grab your backpack and turn on your desk lamp. Pulling out your science book, your laptop and your notebook you began to crack down on studying, now your adrenaline was pumping.
You do have to admit, scared studying is the most efficient for you. It really made you crack down and focus. Plus, it helped that it was late at night and the only person probably up at this hour was Hitoshi, and he thought you were still sleeping so he probably wouldn’t text you, leaving the distracting phone buzzing to a minimum.
By the time you were able to confidently retaliate the information that was in the study packet of the exam it was 4:35am.
You were fighting to keep your eyes open as they felt heavy and they hurt. But you were so proud of yourself. You were confident about the material on the exam! Is this what Iida and Yayomomo felt like?! It felt great! Mentally at least…
Physically, you fell into bed, covered yourself up, clung onto your favorite stuffed animal and it was lights out.
You woke up to your 7:00am alarm feeling like crap. That’s what a rigid sleep schedule will get you. Groaning as you stretched after shutting the blaring alarm off.
You trudged to the bathroom, did your business and washed your face before walking out of your room and downstairs to eat some breakfast and take your medicine. It wasn’t hard to remember as it became apart of your morning routine.
You were met with a few early birds. Just Iida coming back from a run and Uraraka, eating some rice and eggs.
You grabbed a fruit juice bottle out of the fridge as well as some rice, heating it up before sitting at an empty table. You texted Hitoshi letting him know that you were downstairs eating.
Almost immediately he hearted the message and was down in the common area within a few minutes. Hair a mess, eyebags prominant from his insomnia, a big T-shirt and sweatpants. He was undeniably adorable.
“How are you doing?” He asks you as he starts the coffee pot, grabbing his mug from the cabinet, then reaching into the fridge for some creamer while the coffee brewed.
“Tired” you yawn as you opened the cap of the juice bottle with a click, taking a small sip. “But I feel prepared for the exam” you sleepily smile
“Oh yeah?” He grins at you as he pours the coffee into the eraser-head mug followed by some creamer before coming to sit with you.
“Yeah” you eat your rice “You’ll do great, you’re so good at science” you remind him as if he didn’t already know.
After taking your medicine and walking with Hitoshi back to the elevator and up to your respective floors, you two parted ways to get ready for the day.
Hitoshi would be ready quickly, all he had to do was shower, put his uniform on, and personal hygiene. You however, always took a bit longer than you should, hence why you always woke up a bit earlier.
You were undoubtedly exhausted from staying up so late to study. Your head and shoulders felt tense and you wanted to just crawl back in bed and skip the school day. But unfortunately, you had an exam to take.
As you did your necessary skin and makeup routine (if you have one), you made a point to go over your notes just a few times to make sure you still understood.
Despite feeling so accomplished, you were exhausted. The feeling raced through your body as you struggled to keep your eyes open when blinking. And that’s when you remembered— you have an energy drink in your mini fridge!
“Oh fuck yes!” You grin to yourself, knowing that it would come in handy one morning. You had about an hour until the exam, that should be plenty of time for it to kick in. You opened the tab on the can with a satisfying *pop* and just before you take a sip your phone dinged with a text message.
Toshi💜😻
Down in the lobby whenever you’re ready!
As you down the carbonated beverage, the bubbles awaken your senses. After buttoning your uniform jacket you put your study materials back in your school bag and headed out the door to meet Hitoshi in the lobby.
Before that— downed the rest of the rest of the drink, throwing the tin can into the garbage across the room from your doorway. “Mhm!” Humming and nodding in satisfaction when it successfully made it in.
As you made your way out of the elevator you waltzed up to your lavender haired boyfriend who had his usual resting, melancholic face. You knew he wasn’t sad or anything it was just the way his face sat most of the time. You did however, gee the slight smile on his lips as you approached him.
“You finally ready?” You grin to him and he just rolls his eyes with a smile, conjoining your hands together “Was waiting on you sweetheart”
You laugh at the pet name “Ew I don’t like that one!” You shake your head “Yeah, me neither” he looks straight ahead, opening the door for you to exit the dorm building.
“Thank you Toshi” you pinch his cheek on the way out as you walk past him, down the steps. He rubs his cheek with his fingertips as he watches you with wide eyes, face growing warm with a blush.
You seemed different today, back to your normal self. Yes you weren’t terribly tired in the morning these past few weeks, but something about our energy this morning made him smile. He didn’t know what had changed overnight but he was happy to have you back to your normal, happy, carefree self.
As Aizawa handed out the exam papers— face down— you couldn’t help but feel giddy. Ready to burst with energy, your heart was racing a million miles a minute. You felt so prepared that your hand that was holding your pencil was twitching with anticipation.
Hitoshi noticed the way your feet couldn’t sit still, the way your fingers twitched and twirled your pencil, the rhythmic tapping of your fingertips with your other hand against the desk. We’re you always this energetic..? His eyebrows raised in confusion at the mere sight of you.
“Don’t flip your papers over until I say” Aizawa tiredly spoke “We have 5 minutes until time starts, get all the chatter out now. Talk to your neighbor” he told the students and they turned to their desk neighbors in response.
“Hey Toshi-“ Denki began, using the nickname you gave your boyfriend in a mocking tone
“Fat chance” he rolled his eyes and turned away from the blonde, leaving him with his mouth agape before turning to bother Jirou. The interaction made you snicker.
“You alright? You seem… very peppy this morning” he tells you and you frown in confusion “Is that bad?” You ask him with a questioning tone
“No not at all!” He hold his hands up defensively “Just didn’t know if something was going on” he shrugs “That’s all”
“Maybe it’s the energy drink I had this morning” you stare up at the celing, wondering. His eyes are as wide as saucers at your statement. Did you not read the info that came in the medication packet?! Because he sure did!
“What do you mean?! How much did you drink?” He cautiously asks and you raise an eyebrow at his tone “The whole thing” you simply state and his mouth hangs open
“Y-“
“Okay quiet” Aizawa settles the class down “The exam is 20 questions, you have an hour” he states “good luck” he begins the timer on his computer while sipping black coffee out of his mug that was conveniently shaped like a cat.
As you wrote your name down you could feel the adrenaline pumping through you. You knew what you were doing and how to find the answers to any question that may come about.
But as you wrote out your last name and put the proper date on the corner of the page you couldn’t help but wonder what Hitoshi was getting so worked up for….
You could feel yourself losing focus. No! You quickly snapped back into your reality. There was an exam in front of you and you needed to finish it first! Then you could think of all the worst possible reasons that he looked so concerned.
As you raced through the first 5 questions, they were a piece of cake. You knew this by heart at this point after a long night of work. Your hand was rapidly moving the pencil around, careful not to disrupt anyone but just enough to get your fix of energy out.
Your leg was bouncing under your desk as you worked out a formula for velocity on question 8 with ease. You briefly glanced up around the room, you weren’t the only one with a bouncing leg in the room. Just a few of your peers.
Students such as Iida, and Momo were first to finish. Followed by Midoryia and Bakugo — who shoulder bumped Midoryia on his way back to his seat.
You were about to stand up to turn your test in when Hitoshi stood up and walked to turn his in. You ultimately decided to just wait a few minutes and pretend like you were still working just so it didn’t seem like you had copied off of Hitoshi.
When walking back to your desk after turning the test in, you felt an immense sense of accomplishment. You knew almost everything, only struggling with one problem towards the end but hey, getting only one wrong is better than getting all of them wrong!
Soon enough, everyone had finished and the lunch bell had rang. “Going to lay down?” Your boyfriend asks as he picks up your bag for you.
“Actually, no!” You grin “I’m so excited I wanna catch up with everyone!” You grab his hand and drag him along to meet up with your friends who were out the door, assuming that you wouldn’t be joining them. “Okay, if you insist” he says
Upon entering the cafeteria, you practically dragged a stumbling Hitoshi behind you as you made your way to the usual table. “Got room for one more?” You cheerfully grin and their expressions light up at the sight of uou
“(Name)!” Kirishima and Sero cheer enthusiastically, the attention being brought to the table causing Hitoshi to want to disappear and causing Bakugo to harshly shush them for being “so god damn loud”
“Hey sparks!” Denki winks and holds up finger guns “(Name)! There’s a seat with your name on it!” Mina cheerfully pats the chair next to her, another one being open beside it, where you an Hitoshi usually sat.
“Gonna go get a snack, want anything?” Your doting boyfriend questions and you nod with a smile “A smoothie?” You inquire, handing him some cash. He shakes his head at your offer “I’ve got it” he kisses the top of your head, leaving your face to grow warm. He usually wasn’t one for over the top pda. Especially not around people you knew. He just got so embarrassed very easily. It was cute though.
“You seem so cheerful and alive!” Kirishima points out and you smile in return at his shark tooth grin (you’ve always adored his unique set of chompers). You sat, your leg bouncing from the rush through your body.
“I know I feel much better” you explain to them as they nod intensively listening, eager to know what was wrong these past weeks. (Minus Bakugo who sat with his airpods in)
“Well you certainly look like you feel better” Denki pats your back, reaching his arm behind Mina to where you sat
“So? What was going on?” Sero inquired as Hitoshi came back with some crackers and a bottle of water for himself and a smoothie for you “Thanks Toshi” you ruffle his wild hair “I dunno!” You shrug slurping the smoothie that contained your favorite fruits that Hitoshi had gotten for you without even having to ask, already knowing you so well.
“I just felt awful these past few weeks” you swallow the drink “I’ve been taking naps in recovery girls office” you tell the group earning some noises of affirmation.
As the conversation kept going it became abundantly clear how your heart was hammering against your chest. A tight feeling took over your breathing, you attempted to laugh on queue with the group but Hitoshi noticed your faltering demeanor.
“You alright?” He whispered as Denki loudly recited an event that happened to him last weekend. “Mhm” you purse your lips together in a smile before looking towards the table as exhaustion began to overtake your muscles
“Can I have some?” You knit your brows as you point to his bottle of water. “My water?” He raises an eyebrow as he hands it to you “Sure, you know you don’t have to ask” he rubs your shoulder
You attempt to uncap the water once more but he must’ve screwed it shut like there was was no tomorrow, either that or your muscles had grown abundantly weak and tired.
“Mph” you make a dissatisfied noise as you couldn’t open it and hand it back to your boyfriend so he could open it. This was strange in his eyes. You never had a problem reopening a bottle of water.
“Can you?” You let out a shaky breath and he takes the water, the plastic of it crinkling slightly under his grip. “Of course” he glances at you, uncapping it so you could take a much needed sip of the beverage.
The pounding in your head became known as you took a sip. Was this a caffeine crash? You’d never experienced one before during your religious cycle of drinking various energy drinks.
You recap the water and lean onto Hitoshi’s shoulder with a slight groan in discomfort at the muscle aches. “Hey are y-?” He begins before he’s interrupted.
“You okay over there spazzy?” Bakugo cocked an eyebrow, taking one airpod out of his ear. You frown with your eyes are closed on Hitoshi’s shoulder in response.
“Enough of that name, asshole” Hitoshi scolded the blonde who just scoffed and put his airpod back in his ear “Psh- whatever see if I care ever again” he rolled his eyes. He will care again.
“You alright?” Mina gently caressed your forearm. You glance over at her and just lay back down. The sudden rush of symptoms taking over you. You felt nauseated. Your stomach churned uncomfortably.
“Uhm I need to go” you stand up, using Hitoshi’s shoulder for support. Your destination? The nurses office. “Sorry we couldn’t stay longer” Hitoshi sarcastically remorses as he picks up the two bags, your smoothie, his crackers, and water bottle.
The group is confused. Denki’s mouth was slightly agape “What the hell is going on?!” He breaks the silence as they watch Hitoshi struggle to carry all of the stuff while catching up to you to follow you out the door.
As you lay there clutching your stomach with a pillow over your head Recovery girl and Aizawa stand at the foot of the bed stunned.
You had come in just a few minutes before Hitoshi complaining of stomach pain and a horrible headache. Recovery Girl was taken aback when you did. Usually you come in yawning and just go to whatever bed is available. You never had complained about any sort of problems other than being tired and blaming it on an uneven sleep schedule. It just so happened that Aizawa was in there when you came in.
“She’s been acting strange” Recovery Girl told your teacher who skeptically nodded. “Always coming in here during lunch hour to sleep” the older woman shakes her head.
“Why?” Aizawa ponders “Have you noticed anything, Shinsou?” He confided in his mentee who looked completely lost on what to do.
“She’s been acting really weird since she… started taking her medication…” he realized the words coming out of his mouth. Saying it out loud and taking time to process it was weighing on him. How could he have been so blind?!
“The adhd medication?” Aizawa turns to recovery girl who nods “that’s the only one she takes” she tells him as he slowly starts to pace.
“This is a simple fix” Recovery girl tells the two men “If she’s reacting badly to this variant of the medication then we can get her reevaluated for another variant” she explains and you perk up
“So I won’t go back to being a spaz? I can still take medication?” You rasp out and the two adults look confused. Spaz? Where would you get something like that?!
Hitoshi must’ve sensed their confusion so he took the liberty of explaining “Bakugo makes fun of her, calls her a spaz or spazzy and a few other names” he says “He’s been teasing her since last year”
“Okay” Aizawa heavily sighs, despite being a bit more mellowed out, Bakugo still presented to be a problem most of the time. He just wasn’t as aggressive about it. “I’ll deal with that”
“(Name), you’re not a spaz” he begins “You have something that you cannot control therefore it’s foolish to care about what someone like bakugo says. He has no relevance to you”
You nod in understanding “I know…” you begin, head still throbbing “I just wish I was easier to deal with sometimes” you shrug
“We don’t deal with you” your teacher states firmly “We care for you” he corrects your statement “Now I’ve got to get back to work, Recovery Girl, write her a note for the rest of the day, she’s going back to her room” Aizawa confirms “Hitoshi, walk her back”
Hitoshi nods in understanding as recovery girl explains that you’ll be evaluated for a new variant of medication on Saturday and that she will call your parents to let them know of the situation to which you reluctantly agree.
That was two weeks ago. Since then, you’ve started a new medication and you’re absolutely thriving! Able to focus, energy restored, still yourself you just remember to do your homework and study more often! And you’ve been advised, no more energy drinks!
As you sit in the corner booth of your favorite restaurant with your friends for a do-over dinner, Denki cackles loudly as you take two french fries and stick them in your upper lip pretending to suck bakugos blood like a vampire. Yeah, you were back to yourself alright!
“God! Cut it out spaz!” Bakugo barks at you and you just remove your french fries from your lip, Hitoshi ready to defend you once more but this time you step in.
“Bakugo, you can say that all you want” you tell him “It doesn’t effect me anymore, your opinion is irrelevant”
He is pissed “Oh yeah? And who the hell says?!” He crossed his arms over his chest
“Mr. Aizawa” you simply shrug before returning to your meal and the group goes ballistic when you said that.
“Yoooo!” Denki chants
“Dude get fucking wrecked!” Sero cackles
Mina and Kirishima wipe tears from their waterline, laughing so hard they were tearing up
“That’s my girl” Hitoshi kisses the top of your head

So you wanna watch some of David Hewlett's pre-Stargate work?
I've compiled a list of everything that I could find that's available to stream for free (at least in the US) that he's done from 1987-2001.
If there are mistakes, links don't work or something is missing, please let me know.
Oh, and I didn't write the blurbs, some of which are pretty awful but as with a lot of you I've not seen everything on the list so I can't vouch for their veracity. If I have seen it, I'll include a little comment at the end with how much David is on screen or moments of interest.
Sites include: YouTube, Tubi, PlutoTV, Plex and Fawesome.
YouTube:
The Dark Side (1987) - A cab driver gets mixed up with a fare he picks up who turns out to be a adult film actress and she claims she has proof that the people she is working for are producing snuff films. Her claims seem to be validated when the cabbie notices suspicious looking people following them. (He's in a good portion of it but I remember being unimpressed with the movie as a whole.)
Night Heat - S3 E18 Simon Says (1987) - The exploits of the detectives of the Mid South Precinct, in a generic North American city not unlike New York (but a lot like Toronto), chronicled through the eyes of newspaper columnist Tom Kirkwood and his "Night Heat" column. (David plays a teenage prostitute. He's only in a few scenes spread out through the episode. It's a very dark subject matter so this isn't for everyone. Gotta say, 19-year-old David is beautiful.)
Friday the 13: The Series - S1 E10 Tales of the Undead (1988) - Ryan believes that a half-man, half-monster comic-book hero has come to life and is responsible for the murder of a shopkeeper. (He's in the first half of this cheesy, fun episode. He gets in a fight with Ray Walston - and loses.)
Pin (1988) - Isolated by his strange parents, Leon (DH) finds solace in an imaginary friend, which happens to be an anatomy doll from his father's doctor office. Unfortunately, the doll begins to take over Leon's life, and his sister's life as well. (He's the star and is creepy as fuck.)
My Secret Identity - S1 E2 A Walk on the Wild Side (1988) - The key component for Dr. J's latest invention is stolen by a group of wayward children. Andrew goes undercover and fakes loyalty to the gang in an attempt to recover the device, only to run into trouble when he meets the mastermind and leader of the gang, Rock (DH), who doesn't take too kindly to Andrew. (He's only in the end part of the episode but he's wearing a leather jacket playing a tough guy so you gotta watch it. Plus he's got a fight scene with Jerry O'Connell.)
T and T - S1 E16 Black and White (1988) - After his wife is attacked, Det. Jones thirsts for revenge. (He's playing another tough guy but this time he has great hair. AND he's got a fight scene with Mr. T.)
T and T - S2 E18 Thicker Than Water (1989) - The Brothers struggle to maintain their dance club only to be set upon by thugs, the neighborhood, the police, the Department of Health and the fire department. (OMG the hair! Big, black and reaching for the sky. You need to see it. The episode is actually pretty good and the band with the female lead singer is good too.)
The Penthouse (1989) - Dinah leads a charmed life with her father in a penthouse. Joe (DH), a friend from Dinah's past, breaks out of a mental hospital and into her penthouse to take her hostage. Can Dinah be saved while she tries to save Joe? (He's co-starring in this. He's suitably creepy. We get to see him wearing nothing but a towel and we get to see him juggle. Not at the same time.)
Where the Heart Is (1990) - A wealthy businessman shows his young-adult offspring how tough life can be. (He's one of the young adult offspring so he's in a fair amount of the movie. You've probably seen pictures/gifs from this where he's dressed like an angel flipping someone off or of his lovely bare posterior.)
Deep Sleep (1990) - Shelly, institutionalized following the death of her father, returns home desperate for answers about his death. Her memories return, revealing long-repressed dark family secrets. (He's the lead character's brother so he's in maybe a quarter of it. It's not a very good movie and David seems awkward in it.)
Scanners II: The New Order (1991) - A breed of humans known as The Scanners with dangerously powerful telepathic abilities are being recruited by a corrupt police commander in his crusade to take over the city. (I hate to say it, but the movie is kinda dull. I've put off watching it for ages because I was thinking it was going to be super gory and it really wasn't. There were a few gory bits but they weren't that well done which made is less gory somehow. His hair is styled badly and he's called 'pretty boy' twice I think but it kinda came out of the blue. Um, there's an adorable moment when DH heals a puppy but other than that it's kinda meh.)
Desire and Hell at the Sunset Motel (1991) - Right after Disneyland opens in Anaheim, California, in 1955, a toy salesman arrives in town a on for a toy convention. He brings his bored, beautiful wife with him. She's there so they can turn his business trip into a brief vacation, by planning a side excursion to visit Disneyland. They check into a nearby 1950s place four miles from Disneyland, a rundown place called the Sunset Motel, where affairs and sexual crimes among the motel guests quickly develop and cause trouble. But, that's not all, there's also get blackmail, beatnik style poetry, amnesia, and murder.
The First Circle (1991) - In the USSR, political prisoners who were scientists were not always sent to GULAG, but also to The First Circle (named after Dante's Inferno), a special incarceration unit near Moscow where they could work for the government. (This is uploaded into parts of about an hour a piece. The link is to the playlist.)
The Valour and the Horror (documentary) - S1 E1 A Savage Christmas: The Fall of Hong Kong (1992) - In the autumn of 1941, nearly 2,000 inexperienced Canadian soldiers were sent to Hong Kong at the request of the British government as a symbolic show of strength that would deter a Japanese attack on the colony. Canada's soldiers found themselves in the midst of a desperate battle they could not hope to win. (He only has a couple of moments on screen where he's playing a soldier reenacting letters home, but he's fantastic. The episode itself is very intense, so consider yourself forewarned.)
The Quiet Killer aka Black Death (1992) - When a teenage daughter of a wealthy New York City family returns home while feeling sick, nobody suspects a thing. At home, her health deteriorates quickly, resulting in a painful death on the streets before her Manhattan home. In the hospital, it does not take long before its discovered she's died of the bubonic plague and then its a race against the clock to locate and treat all the people who might be infected. (He plays a journalist who's after the truth! He's in the last half of the movie and has a couple nifty moments. He's got good chemistry star Kate Jackson.)
Forever Knight - S1 E10 Dead Air (1992) - Nick and Schanke are on the hunt for a deranged killer (DH) who brags about his crimes on a psychiatrist's radio show. Meanwhile, Nick has constant flashbacks to 1440 when he watched LaCroix torture a man for his own ends. (Back to creepy. But also poignantly broken.)
Split Images (1992) - A journalist knows more about a grizzly murder than is good for her. All her evidence points toward a mysterious millionaire but no one will believe her. (He's in maybe 2 minutes total, playing a cop, near the end of the movie but he's adorable. It was actually not a bad little made-for-TV-movie with Gregory Harrison taking on the creepy lead character duties.)
The Boys of St. Vincent: 15 Years Later - Fifteen years after the events of The Boys of St. Vincent took place, the various boys involved are brought in to testify against the brothers, now finally standing trial, who assaulted them when they were children. They are faced with revisiting the abuse and trauma they sustained as children.
Shining Time Station - S3 E4 Stacy Cleans Up, S3 E23 The Mayor Runs for Re-Election - At seemingly a ordinary train station in a small American town, extraordinary things happen including a tiny man called "Mr. Conductor" who tells stories about Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends. (He is so freaking cute with this huge black rim framed glasses. He also appears to be having a great time.)
Silent Witness: What a Child Saw aka Blood Brothers (1993) - A prosecutor tracks a gang murder to a Los Angeles youth who could name his own brother.
Monster Force (1994) - In the near future, Monster Force, a team of six teenager monster hunters, battle Creatures of the Night, monsters lead by the classic Universal monsters like Dracula, the Mummy, Wolfman and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. (The link is to a playlist which contains all of the animated episodes.) (This is a cute Saturday morning cartoon that I probably would have been into big time if I was in their target audience. It's hecka fun.)
Traders (1996-2000) - The show explores the intimate lives and loves of investment bankers whose high-stakes decisions and sizzling alliances can have grave international consequences. (The link is to a playlist which only contains the first two seasons.) (I've only seen the first season and David is heartbreaking in it. As I remember there's lots of close-ups of his eyes showcasing just have vulnerable Grant is. All five seasons are available to stream at Fawesome!)
Elevated (1996) - Ben and Ellen are thrust into adventure when Hank (DH), a blood covered security man of the building rushes into their elevator, claiming that there's a dangerous creature in the building. (This is a fantastic short film - it's like 15 minutes long. It's not super scary but it has moments of tension and David is fantastic. It's directed by Vincenzo Natali, who also directed the movie Cube.)
Cube (1997) - Seven strangers of widely varying personality are involuntarily placed in an endless maze containing deadly traps. (Very scary. Very disturbing. And oh so good.)
On the 2nd Day of Christmas (1997) - Trish (Mary Stuart Masterson) and her six-year-old niece, Patsy, make their living by picking pockets. But when they try to take advantage of holiday shoppers with fat wallets, they run into a little snag—a department store security guard named Bert (Mark Ruffalo) catches them in the act. The store owner wants them arrested, but decides to wait until Christmas is over. To ensure they don’t make a run for it, he entrusts their care to Bert. (David is featured in the subplot and is in quite a lot of this one but honestly after the first time I saw it I just skip to his scenes. Sort of has a fight scene with the Hulk, Mark Ruffalo. Wears a cast, a Santa suit and black hi-top Chucks throughout the movie.)
Clutch (1998) - Martyn (DH), an aging Toronto area college student with no degree yet to show for his so far ten years in college, has agreed to do an illegal job solely for the money: steal a rare book. In the process, Martyn ends up accidentally killing the owner. Not knowing what to do about the dead body, Martyn decides to take it along with the book.
Survivor (1999) - An Arctic oil rig crew discovers something strange far beneath the Earth's surface, which may or may not be responsible for the series of murders that begin to take place. (The plot is one we've all seen before, but it has a cast that is solid and it held my attention. It's a made-for-TV movie so very little gore, just a couple of bits of blood. It's mostly character reactions to what they're seeing. David has several nice moments with a character that's funny, endearingly awkward, exasperated, smart, reluctantly brave...)
The Life Before This (1999) - Several innocent bystanders are injured or killed when two robbers, fleeing from the police, run into the neighborhood cafe.
Chasing Cain (2001) - The drive-by shooting of a doctor and a woman who work at an abortion clinic leads Detectives to a suspect with ties to the pro-life movement.
And Never Let Him Go (2001) - The true story of a woman's suspicious disappearance after ending an affair with a powerful, married attorney. (This is one of my favorite mini-series. I giffed it a lot back in the day. Mark Harmon is marvelous as the creepy lead with David playing his baby brother. Oh and we get Paul Michael Glaser as a detective. Good stuff.)
The Triangle (2001) - A group of friends wind up in the Bermuda Triangle. (Eh. I've seen it twice and I can't tell you much about it. We get David in shorts wearing a bucket hat though so that's nice.)
Treed Murray (2001) - An advertising executive (DH), trapped in a tree by a gang of would-be muggers, manipulates them into fighting in order to save his life.
PlutoTV
The Penthouse (1989)
Scanners II: The New Order (1991)
Cube (1997)

The Yeosang Tragedy (Part 2/?)
a.k.a. The Perfect Boy In the Glass Box (Woosansang Analysis)
Non sexual RPF. Fiction in the form of an analytical essay. You are right and I am wrong. I am literally just making things up now.
Sophisticated Gangnam Children
Wooyoung's 'last minute' appearance to join the debut-fixed group continued to be a topic of emotional discussion between him and the rest of the group fully six years after the actual debut (Wanteez Ep 30). Wooyoung was deeply worried about being rejected by the existing members for the privilege he'd been given in being allowed to join without having gone through the years-or-months-long chemistry test the others had had to endure with each other. Plus he was making a HUGE jump, and if this didn't work at KQ, he was at minimum going to be humiliated and at worst, truly fucked.

Wooyoung is very clever, by the way. Mingi and HongJoong are the creative powerhouses, yes. I think Yunho is the most fastidious, and most capable of strategic planning. And Yunho comes second only to Wooyoung in knowing how to enact the perfect fantasy boyfriend to Atiny in his Lives. Jongho, I think, is the least insecure of all of them - both because he's a loud tenor (I have my personal beliefs abut operatic men) but also because he wanted to be a singer and this whole Idol bit he can take or leave (he chooses more and more to leave it, btw). But Wooyoung has the most show-biz sense, and the most show-biz ambition.
Wooyoung has constructed a very intricate, delicately balanced story about how a Big Hit trainee ended up debuting with KQ, of all places. The first leg of the story is designed to give him a hero's arc of early failure and suffering leading to overcoming his own limits and reaching present success: He's said that the monthly exams and general competitiveness at Big Hit gave him severe anxiety, so much so that he developed camera-phobia and stage fright, which is difficult to imagine now because he clearly loves the camera. The second leg of the story is that he followed his wonderful beautiful friend Yeosang to this place with almost no employees and no record of success, because he wanted to debut with Yeosang. He was willing to give up a chance (a strong chance, is implied) of being in one of the successor groups to BTS, you know, the BTS, that almighty BTS (this isn't sarcasm by the way, this is awe) because he's that loyal and loving and pure.
If he'd really done this, that's truly, wondrously childlike, you know?
And I appreciate this story, because it's smart and anticipates 100% of the potential criticisms of his behavior at the time, but I just don't believe it. We know from the involvement of the parents in the groups as far back as TVXQ and Girls' Generation all the way to New Jeans in the present day that nobody lets these kids just make business decisions that might end up either earning them or costing them millions in dollars (the hard currency!). You don't just jump ship from Big Hit to KQ because you really like your friend Yeosang, especially when you were already also friends with the kids who would grow up to be members of Stray Kids, AB6IX, and TXT. The most I would concede is that Wooyoung, with his great showbiz savvy, which is a talent separate and apart from singing, dancing, comic timing and camera-compatibility, recognized something about Yeosang's gifts and thought, Hey, a production team that will definitely debut Yeosang are good people who know what they're doing, so it's not as risky a bet to jump ship as it might seem. It's a good calculation, to be assured of debut with a team ready to go, rather than be in an 'elite' grouping with too many other hopefuls with a big entity that views you as just one of the many.
I do believe that the worry about how it would look was real. And I do believe that Wooyoung wanted to rely on Yeosang to help ease his transition. And what the story they told in their reality content shows is that Yeosang did not meet Wooyoung where Wooyoung asked him to come.

Yeosang explicitly said that he did not make it clear that he was pleased Wooyoung was joining. He did not loudly vouch for Wooyoung. The things he chose to say were extraordinarily sophisticated for a teenage boy to do (was he coached by his intellectual parents? VERY PROBABLY), but it was a mistake.
When Hong Joong asked him what Wooyoung was like, he said, "Give him two weeks" and that "You might like him a lot at first, and it might feel more of a burden once you become friends." In the Wanteez episode but also in other content, he said that he was privately glad to have Wooyoung join, quite a lot glad actually, but he did not feel it was proper to openly celebrate. So he didn't.
He left Wooyoung all alone to swim or drown, to get over the big dunking served on him by big boy Mingi, who was blatantly displeased at his appearance. Mingi's bluntness was so terrifying for Wooyoung that he's never stopped talking about it.
Yeosang knew Wooyoung as a fellow Big Hit trainee and also as a personal friend. He had no idea how Wooyoung would do at KQ, with the six others of the as-yet unnamed group nor with Edenary. He could hope, he could hazard a guess - and his guesses, as it turned out, were accurate - but Yeosang, being someone who had been through the political trenches of KPop Trainee World already as well as a sort of seasoned professional that I was not after 3 years in grad school following a 4 year university degree, kept his cards close to his chest.
He maintained this neutral stance to Wooyoung himself, too. He didn't say, Come join, the water is fine, and even if the water isn't fine, I AM SUPER GLAD YOU'RE JOINING! He said, instead, and accurately, This is not the ideal timing for you to be joining. There might be difficulties.
In a professional relationship, among seasoned industry veterans, if everyone was 30+ years old, this would seem fine and proper and normal. It's the appropriate amount of coldness, coming from an attitude of professional distance. The fact that this was happening among people who were mostly still in high school is what makes it the start of a tragedy for Yeosang.
I said in passing that I thought Yeosang wasn't so much neurodivergent as traumatized, and an anon asked about this, but I hadn't had time to get to any asks about Yeosang, so I am going to answer that ask here.
Yeosang may be naturally diffident and even keeled as a person, in the same way that San is actually quite stern and not as soft as he seems when he's just being himself interacting with his fans. But - for a boy to be so extremely fucking political and cautious reeks of overreaction, of engaging in excess caution now because a moment of candor blew up so badly one too many times before. If he's being coached, he's being coached by someone who wants him to be very, very cautious. He didn't vouch for Wooyoung with enthusiasm and he didn't make big promises ("Who cares what these fuckers they collected at KQ think? You'll have me!!" for example) to Wooyoung because he had learned over time to be extremely cautious, non-committal, and neutral.
HongJoong, being probably somewhat ND, actually sought confirmation - and felt the need to seek explicity confirmation - that Yeosang actually was really happy that Wooyoung was joining, just as himself, before they all saw how valuable Wooyoung would be to the group, and how well he would (make himself) fit in. That's how unreadably Yeosang played it.
San Learned The Right Lessons From Mingi

I'm sure that whatever it is I can think of to say to speculate the fascination that Woo and San could've felt about the other one have been fully explored in all the actually sexual RPFs and shipping content that I have not seen nor read nor intend to. So I'm skipping that part.
Yungi were San's 'teachers' - this meant San was letting himself be vulnerable and open, which I just don't think that children who are Idols are (given all the stakes discussed in my previous post). He had nothing to lose, actually, right? So he acted like a sponge, and said, I think you're awesome, teach me to all and sundry. And one of the major things that he learned from Mingi, other than dance, stage presence, and sophistication, was how to make a showbiz bestie out of a boy who is smoother and slicker than yourself.
Wooyoung is a more common type than San - a slick, fast-talking Gangnam kid in showbiz - but the degree to which he is outgoing, confident, eager to talk to people and at ease marks him as unusual, especially because he is Korean,born and bred. During the snippets I've seen of Kingdom, I was both surprised and not that even the kids who are chosen to be Idols exhibit all the same, Can't Talk To Strangers and Can't Be The First One To Say Hello and Would Rather Die Than Be Wrong or Awkward lack of charm (alas) that Koreans often exhibit when it's not super clear what the rules of engagement are supposed to be.
What San brings to the table is genuine self acceptance, and to me, he seems to possess the platonic ideal of self-esteem. His sense of self worth is so powerful that he doesn't easily get discouraged nor ashamed. Everything is a learning experience and he moves on. I want his brain, because I can't do this. He doesn't really have a desire to appear perfect or superior to other people. I'm too vain for this, as well. (I'm in the Delusions of Grandeur Mingi camp, hardcore.) (Everyone reading this: Yes ,we know. Me: ㅠㅠㅠ) As a result, when he wants something, he goes after it in the most direct, open way.
Look at this. In this clip, according to Tumblr user Henlex from a post on March 4, 2019,
Wooyoung said he liked red an black, and san didn’t miss a beat.
You have to look at the gazes. Both Seonghwa and Wooyoung react to San by directing their reaction to San. You can see from Seonghwa's face that San is being way too much. Even Wooyoung is taken aback, face crumpling with secondhand embarrassment. Notice though, that Yeosang looks at Wooyoung, and only Wooyoung, and then gives up because Wooyoung only has eyes for San.
I can't find it but there was another Vlive around this time where they told a story about when Yeosang said to Mingi, "San really likes Wooyoung, doesn't he?" in very sad tones (as relayed by Mingi). Everyone reacted loudly, because they were uncomfortable. The fact that Yeosang asked Mingi, the haver of all the genuine feelings, about San's feelings - that it was genuinely a liking for Wooyoung rather than a strategic alliance among compatible show biz personas - is meaningful to me. His sadness and surprise, the resignation that he can't do anything about it (like form an alliance with Wooyoung, again, to say, Let's be Super Sayiin Twins and ditch your new country bumpkin acolyte) if the friendship is a genuine one is very noteworthy.
San really needed Wooyoung, almost in the way that Mingi felt he needed Yunho, and San went after Wooyoung's friendship and esteem in the same naked way. Wooyoung, joining this group from a position of precarious privilege, needed someone who was going to pair up with him, against the two hyungs, and against the Yungi pair-up that was already established. And he extended an invitation to Yeosang first and foremost to be that special pair member, but since Yeosang made it repeatedly clear he wasn't going to play, he took up with San instead. And Yeosang doesn't have a killer instinct, it seems. He doesn't have the ruthlessness of a Seonghwa, for example. He just mourned the loss of Wooyoung as it was happening, without fighting back against the San onslaught.
There's an additional problem, that Wooyoung understood and likes the whole BL game that Idol teammates are supposed to play, and Yeosang specifically really, really hates it. Yeosang, Yunho and Jongho really dislike this part of their jobs. (I am not speculating on their sexuality - you can be gay and want to be out and still not want to be filmed with your coworker-lover pressing his body into yours for content.) But Yeosang in particular is the one who screams any time there's too much touching. Hongjoong is also very persnickety about being touched, but even he doesn't show such open horror.

San, in the initial years of Ateez, was willing to follow Wooyoung to basically anywhere. If Woo wanted to be BL flirty, San went with it. If Woo wanted to go get tattoos, San went and got the tattoos with him, even though he fundamentally has no interest in tattoos. San made Being Wooyoung's Friend at least 70% of his public persona. (This proportion, I think, has recently shrunk to about 45%). Wooyoung, for various reasons, really needed this, and as I've said about Mingi and Yunho - someone going all out for you, especially in the Idol world, is irresistible.
Since I brought up the parents, I need to compare and contrast Yeosang and San's parents and their involvement in this business of making their younger son an Idol. Yeosang's parents don't seem to have supported him very much - they paid for the lessons and things, I'm sure, but they wanted him to stay in school. San's parents went on a charm offensive, using all their down-home charm and Taekwondo teacher fatherly-charisma to emotionally adopt Wooyoung and Mingi. San's mother went out of her way to befriend Wooyoung's mother, and effectively seems to have adopted the mother as a sister in the way she adopted Wooyoung as a son/ nephew. This is even more than what is happening with Yungi. Mingi and Yunho use the whole 'We were excessively close best friends, twin tower twin flames, from when we were in 7th grade!' as part of their star personas, but I haven't heard anything about Mingi's mom going on vacation with Yunho's mother in the loud way I've been told about similar things over in Woosan World.
In contrast, Yeosang had what sounds like a heartrending conversation with his ailing mother in the dorm, and didn't say anything to anyone about it, including Wooyoung, who knew the surgery was happening. Wooyoung wept for Yeosang on stage about this, and there was something interesting happening there - both genuine empathy and the never-stopping Wooyoung showbiz intelligence creating that moment, and changing it, from Yeosang sharing something about himself to his fans, and taking center stage, and then Wooyoung pulling focus.
Yeosang v Wooyoung
Wooyoung needs a reactive straight man to be his manic antic-acting self. The two elder boys can't really take on this role full time- Seonghwa gets cringe too much, even about the things that he does himself, and HongJoong reverts to someone who deflates, rather than heightens, the bit. Mingi has Yunho sewn up. Jongho is just not having it. That really left only Yeosang and San, you see, but this is where Yeosang's own boundaries come in.
Yeosang has no reason to play second fiddle to Wooyoung. He was a Big Hit trainee. Other Idols from other teams breathlessly remark on his beauty. And objectively (and I say this as someone who will try to watch every single Wooyoung content and have yet to sit through an entire Yeosang live) Yeosang is more beautiful than any other Ateez member. He's capable of pulling off things that sound impossible - posing moodily while sniffing a pepper for the Bouncy video - that I don't think any of the others can do. He's a witty dancer - he can add these bitchily smart little details to all his movements. There's no need for him to concede to what Wooyoung wants, and it might be a matter of pride, to not yield.
Moreover, Yeosang doesn't want to be cute - not in the way the Western fandom seems to see him as 'cute' - like a neutered hamster. And he actually isn't cute in that way, if you look at what he's done with his body. He had the big muscles first, but decided not to go huge, like San (because it doesn't fit his face). But he's made it very known THAT HE CAN. Much like Seonghwa, he can switch from seeming very mild to being very fierce.
His problem is the same one that Yunho has though: Because they had and have so many ingredients that make them Ideal Idol Types, they haven't had to craft a big persona that will push them to the front. Yeosang is basically boy Snow White to me, perfect and beautiful in his glass coffin. He needs to break out.
And when KQ put the very complicated 'Ateez lore' together, they were rather cruel in the way the used the actual bits and pieces of these boys' lives and their working relationships and rendered them in the self-generated fanfiction to draw in the fans.

Possibly Hot Take:
Wayne Family Adventures is the correct canon and as a person who was raised on Batman, it's what got me back into the fandom, period. I get that people enjoy their gritty Batman, who hates everyone and is awful to his family, but that's not Batman. That's not the original Batman. The original Batman is the one who had "old-school" goofy programs on TV, aka the original 1960s Batman TV Program. The one that had goofy sound effects, and life lessons (and occasionally some slight drama). The original Batman is Batman: The Animated Series from 1992, where Batman's story is pretty much laid bare from the start. These programs show that you can have drama, and trauma, and not compromise a character by making him the antithesis of everything he is said to stand for. That's the Original Batman. That Batman lost his parents. Tragically. Horrifically. And because of that, his sole purpose in life was to make sure No Child EVER went through what he went through again. Every episode, he would get angry, fight a villain, put them in jail, but he would never kill. People seem to remember this half of him pretty easily. But they forget the second half. When a child shows up, that anger disappears. Because he cares about children, especially his own.
This is shown repeatedly through both series, and in many comic strips that ran at the time. A great example is the episode See No Evil from Batman: The Animated Series. In it, a little girl is almost kidnapped by her father, who is an Invisible Man, and Batman has to take him down. This episode is made all the more traumatic by the fact that the Invisible Man actually nearly succeeds in kidnapping his daughter, with Batman only being able to stop him last second, after the little girl realizes what is happening and becomes terrified. This ending is where you see the difference in how he treats villains, civilians, and children. Because in one second he's focused on taking out the bad guy, and the next he's focused on making sure that little girl is okay. And the episode ends by Batman visiting her at the window every night, to make sure she's okay and prove to her that she's protected, since that was the window her father used to access her.
A couple other good examples of Batman as a hero/friend/father are the Justice League (TV Series) and Young Justice (TV Series). Does he mess up a lot? Yes. Does he lack trust in people he should trust? Yes. It's literally a running gag/plot of the shows that he has a contingency plan for everyone on the Justice League and this translates to Robin having one for everyone in Young Justice. But, when he messes up, does he fix it? Also yes. He also cares for the kids in Young Justice, and for the kids they interact with in the Justice League. This is shown time and time again. Especially in the bond he and Robin have. Throughout Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League (TV Series), and Young Justice, Batman and Robin have always cared about one another. They've gotten into spats, and they're angry at each other occasionally, but that's how families work. You aren't always going to agree. But throughout it all, Robin always looked up to Batman, and Batman was always proud of Robin (even when he couldn't show it).
Here's where the trauma comes in:
Batman is going to screw up as a parent. Every single parent does. Especially when you're as traumatized as he is, and all of your adopted children/family are also as traumatized as you are. It is inevitable. But what differentiates Original Batman from the Batman that made me quit reading anything about him for years is the response. Original Batman would try to make things right. Because he would recognize that what he did had caused harm, and not only that, it caused harm to his children (and family). And he would hate that. So he would do everything possible to fix it, including working on himself and doing better. The newer age, grittier Batman doesn't do that. Because he's missing the very core of what it means to be Batman: caring about his family and caring about kids. This is why I left the fandom. Because that grittier Batman, is not Batman. He lacks the key piece of what makes Batman the character that he is. And it replaces that piece with drama for the sake of drama. No resolutions, no trying to be better, just hurt for the sake of hurt, and angst for the sake of angst. And I detest that. You can have drama without compromising his character. Joker is a murderous man who's gone insane, with the sole intent of hurting Batman and Gotham as sadistically as possible. That's been true since the 1960s Batman show I mentioned earlier. He would, and does hurt the Bat Family on a regular basis. And there are so many villains that do the same. Batman doesn't need to become one of them to "make the story more interesting". It already is. In fact, I'd argue that him staying true to himself and working with his family throughout it creates much more interesting dynamics than gritty Batman ever could.
And that's where Wayne Family Adventures comes in:
When I first saw WFA, I wasn't going to give it a chance. Because I'd been so burned by Batman Comics before that I didn't believe this one was going to be any better. But something made me give it a chance. Maybe it was the art style, maybe it was the fact that it was on Webtoon, I don't know. But when I started reading it, I was pleasantly surprised. And I was even more surprised to find out that it is a Canon (yes it is Canon, not Fanon) DC Batman Comic. Many people disliked the first season because it started out majority-wise as "fluff". However, if you cared to read past the first few episodes, more and more backstory started to pop up. Along with this, the "fluff" all connected. Because that "fluff" was necessary to break free of the shackles that the Batman franchise has been in for decades now. And for the first time, it showed the Bat Family with the heart of the Original Batman. The more you read, the better it gets, because the more fleshed out their world becomes. And it draws very important Canon from other franchises in ways that don't make it feel cheap. It also proves something that I think has needed to be proven for a long time; You can have substance in a story without it being entirely grim. Not only can you have substance, you can have deeper substance. Because the connections everyone in the Bat Family has to each other allows us to explore issues in a way they haven't been before. Through communication.
Spoilers below:
We get to see Jason go through a very large PTSD episode. And it isn't just "All people with PTSD are violent". In fact, the only one who thinks he's a danger to the world is himself. Everybody else recognizes that he's hurting, and that representation is enormous. We get to see insights into everyone's pasts and how it's affected them. In Season 3 (which is a fully fledged/connected arc, not "fluff"), we get to see how PTSD affects Bruce, and because he's on good terms with his adopted family, we get to see how it affects him and Jason, both similarly and differently, at the same time. We also get to see how Jason's previous death impacted Bruce and how that plays into the Joker's plans and Bruce's reactions to everything. We get to see Dick step up as Nightwing again, and his and Barbara's trauma, involving parents, the Joker, and having to go against someone you should be able to trust. We actually get to see Duke. And how all of this has affected him. We see how his parents being (currently) permanently "infected" by the joker has absolutely broken him in ways he hasn't yet processed. And how he can overcome it, while also leaning on the support of his family. We see how Damien's world-view is affected due to being raised by assassins, and how he slowly comes out of his shell the longer the series goes. We get to see wonderful examples of how loved ones can help bring us out of a crisis and back into a headspace that can do something about the situation, because sometimes brute forcing it won't work. And we get to see what coming out of a toxic relationship looks like through Harley Quinn, and how just because you're a different (better) person now, that doesn't mean the person you were before is completely gone from the minds of those around you. Bruce was still afraid of Harley when he was dealing with his PTSD responses. Because Harley Quinn did help the Joker do some really bad things. And Harley recognized that and understood.
Season 3 isn't over yet, and it's already done all of that and more.
And because of that, this series has singlehandedly brought me back into the fandom. Because it made Batman feel like Batman again. And it recognized that trauma is more complex than just piling darkness on top of darkness over and over again.
I want more people to give it a chance because it's done something genuinely special that DC hasn't had in a long time. And I think it could get so many Batman fans back on board who've been missing this version of Batman for decades, because it shows so well what Batman was always about. I also want newer Batman (grittier Batman) fans to give it a fair chance, because it has far more substance than many people will ever even care to look for. And that substance can do so much for people who empathize with characters like Jason, Bruce, Damien, Duke, etc.. As well as bring awareness about these topics to people who may not know anything about them, or only know a stigmatized version of these topics, especially PTSD.

My rewrites for TRE characters in my fanfic
so about 6 months ago I fell into the Au pipeline and it ended up resulting in a bunch of stories that's basically if maximalism was a 7 season long book series. One of those seasons combines tons of characters from different manhwas I read but it's mostly a new interpretation of remarried empress with some Oc's.
Navier

One major change I made is that Navier isn't the protagonist anymore but I didn't want her to be a cold blooded villain either. If you ever went on history tik tok specifically the tudors and the French revolution, there's a lot of people who romanticize Anne Boleyn to the extremes of villainzing Jane Seymour or babying Marie Antoinette as a sweet coquette girly who was unfairly killed by "savage revolutionaries" or claiming Elizabeth I as a feminist girlboss who only wanted to end her fathers bloodline. These historic women weren't the most awful people and they definitely were victims but that doesn't mean they didn't have noticeable flaws that affected the lives of others. That's the direction I went for my version of Navier, she still cares for her loved ones and makes good decisions but she was raised with a classist mindset, not pouring wine on maids and poor people but viewing them as emotionless husks with only one purpose which explains her apathy to slaves. I also gave Navier a backstory beyond wanting to be a perfect empress which was a relationship with her mother that is inspired by Catherine the greats relationship with her mother, so yeah not very great. Unlike the original she is fully aware of what Heinrey is doing but she barely cares (not much of a change from the original tbh) the goal is that I still want Navier to be a little likeable while also making her complex and realistic as an empress.
Sovieshu

I didn't give Sovieshu as many changes and for the most part, he's the same as he was in the original: a toxic partner who pushes his faults on other people around him. In this version though instead of becoming cold and cruel to Navier to moment Rashta shows up, the two have already been drifting apart for a while and it only got worse when Navier had a miscarriage a year prior to the story. Sovieshu is more of a cautionary tale of how misogyny is encouraged in boys at a young age, in his youth, Sovieshu had all the love of his mother since his parents struggled to conceive and only had one son. He wanted his father's love more than anything but Osis was about as interested as you'd expect, only wanting his son to be a great Emperor and nothing else, to please him, Sovieshu started to emulate the misogynistic views of the men around him which grew to be his actual beliefs. The only person that kept Sovieshu from turning into his dad was the former empress until she takes her own life, leaving Sovieshu with Osis as his influence. I still want Sovieshu to remain a scumbag but it will be more of a tragedy in how the future generations can never improve if we continue the cycle of abuse.
Rashta

I think Rashta is the most altered out of all the original characters since she's not even a villainess but rather a sort of anti hero. Her past as a slave is more fleshed out, her childish manner is age regressing to try to gain back her stolen childhood and she doesn't try to befriend Navier after getting the message that Navier wants nothing to do with her. In this version she's the best friend and later love interest of the new protagonist who bottles up her past and feelings to please others so she can keep her cozy life in the palace and that becomes a problem as the lack of care causes Rashta to grow more depressed and even has a few panic attacks. She won't do a good portion of the horrible acts she does in the original since she now had actual friends and because some of her sins are just so contrived to make her hateable, but she still is petty and holds grudges so she doesn't feel too bad when she ruins Nians marriage or snubs Lebetti, she'll even be conflicted since she feels guilty that the slaves on the Rimwell estate are still suffering but she doesnt want to risk being removed as concubine if she tries to call for slaves rights but she does find her voice and will start to push for slaves to be freed mid-way through her term as the empress of the eastern empire. In the end, Rashta does become Empress of a different empire after spending a good 7 years healing from her trauma and getting a good education, she lives her days with her kids and dies at the age of 81
Heinrey

Hes one the main antagonists here, I kept his love for his wife and family though but it's not an "uwu my queen!" Or really anything puppy like. For Heinrey I wanted to make him a true white lotus and he's has more vibes of a comforting friend with soft mannerisms and tones in voice, he loves Navier dearly because I still think even monsters like him can fall in love but the reason he tortures and kills people who don't side with Navier isn't even because he's that adamant about Naviers honor but rather because if someone were to find out his sadistic nature to those who disagree with him, he can use the "puppy husabnd" excuse to appear as a sadistic sweetheart. It not only scares the shit of his people into respecting him but it also wins him a little sympathy points since "he's just a hopeless romantic" I wanted Heinrey to appear uncanny too, like you know somethings off about him but if you said anything people would just be like "what are you talking about? He just really loves his family." His death is also pretty brutal, naturally Heinrey makes a lot of enemies and during a war arc he is shot down while in bird form leaving him at the mercy of a former maid he pushed over the deep end, she offs him, plucks him, cooks him, and serves him to the remaining family members of Lazlo.
and that's only the main 4, I did almost all of them with the exception of McKenna since he's honestly the only good character thats written well in remarried empress.

I'm bored so I'm going to rank the Robins based on how much I like them. Justifications will range from silly to serious.
1st place> Damian Al Ghul Wayne.
I find him deeply relatable in ways I cannot communicate with words. His difficulty communicating affection, his desire to be someone that already exists leading him to chase a goal that will forever be out of reach. He's so baby. I love him.
2nd place> Mia Mizoguchi.
Someone told me I couldn't put her this high, so I did. She's very silly and fun, I like her energy. She's so enthusiastic. I love her.
3rd place> Dick Grayson.
He is so much it's unbelievable. He's the family member that's probably the most liked within the family, meaning he's basically the glue that holds everything together. But he's still so angry. And I think that's great. He's kind and gentle and hero, but he's also angry. He's angry when Bruce won't listen, he's angry his parents were taken from him. I love him. He's so strong, both physically and mentally. Bonus points for his earlier runs being very fun and whimsical whilst also having serious moments. We stan a king who can do both.
4th place> Stephanie Brown.
I genuinely think she's amazing. She's been through it, with a villain for a father and growing up in one of the worst parts of Gotham, yet she still retains a level of kindness and love for people around her. And that kindness and love doesn't mean gentle and nice. She can be rude and sassy and the narrative doesn't treat her like a bitch for being so (when the writers are good). I also like her silliness.
5th place> Jason Todd.
I am extremely neutral towards him. I like his character, don't get me wrong, but there's nothing about him that truly captures me. I got nothing. Bonus points for being good with women and children, I guess.
6th place> Tim Drake.
Depending on the writer, he's either great or insufferable with no middle ground. He's either a sassy little detective guy or a piece of cardboard. Also, earlier sexism towards Steph and the "on my planet" line to a recent immigrant will always rub me wrong (I know the Grant Morrison run is no longer canon but I'm petty). Also, I can't separate Tim from Tim Stans™, and they are just awful at points.
Any Robin who isn't here is a Robin I did not feel confident enough to discuss due to not having consumed enough media of them.
Next episode: Ranking the bats based on how much I want to be their friend.
#i enjoy silly things#but i also fw emotional drama and sad stories#i dont hate any robins#but Tim is my least fav#anyway onto the usual tags#damian wayne#tim drake#dick grayson#jason todd#stephanie brown#maps mizoguchi#mia mizoguchi#richard grayson#dc robin#dc comics

Here's more information on the OC:
Here's some more info about him:
Name: Qiang Liu
Age: 17
Birthday: July 20
Height: 190cm (6'3)
Dominant hand: Left
Homeland: Kingdom of Heroes
Dorm: Bellum (No logo for the dorm yet cause idk how to draw)
Family: None
Housewarden of Bellum. He hails from a long line of devout warriors and possesses an almost supernatural strength. Many students fear him because of his cold demeanour.
Personality:
Qiang is a most infamous person at NRC. Many students describe him as intimidating and unpleasant to be around. A common feature many seem to hate is his arrogance. He is overconfident when it comes to many matters, especially physical. This makes him seem like a very narcissistic person to the entire student body. He does not talk much, if at all, which is why Zhong (more information on him soon) is around him in order to speak on his behalf. When he does speak, however, his voice is described as deep and menacing. Many are glad for his silence as his voice makes a lot of students anxious. His height makes many look up at him as he dwarfs them completely. They find it difficult to look into his eyes as well without feeling threatened or nervous, though Qiang himself has no problem when it comes to making eye contact.
Qiang does not have friends aside from Zhong. But unlike Malleus, it's because he actively chooses not to engage in conversations with the other students. He spends most of his time training to his limits, which is what makes him one of the strongest people at NRC. Qiang doesn't rely on magic as much as others when it comes to fighting. He believes that in a situation where you're faced with a foe that is either magically equal to you, stronger than you, or can remove your magic completely, you only have your physical strength to rely on.
Background: Qiang was born and raised in the Kingdom of Heroes and stems from a long line of strong warriors. He is tasked to carry on this legacy, and his admission to Night Raven College was seen by his masters as a good omen, and a sign that a warrior's path was the correct one for him. The men and women who are blessed with inhuman strength in his family are not raised by their parents but rather by an old warrior who spends his days at their nations temple. By the age of 10, he could take down men 5 times his size. He trains in many different forms of fighting, and although he possesses great talent, he chooses not to join any club at NRC.
Signature spell: "Bow To Me" (I haven't worked out what exactly I want the spell to be yet)
Here's a quick sheet that explains some of the aspects of his design: (Apologies for my god awful handwriting)
Here's a better photo of the picrew I used as refreshing:

Summary: “So, are you going to properly introduce us to your daughter anytime soon?” Leo teased, looking down at the newborn. “I mean, baby McLean is cute, but it’s a bit on the nose as far as names go.”
“You called her Em, right?” Jason asked, apparently eager to get a good grade in uncle. “What's that short for?”
“Technically, her name isn’t officially anything yet,” Piper told them, wiggling into a more comfortable sitting position. “But we’d like to name her Emilia, if Leo is okay with it.”
“Huh?” Leo looked from Piper to Reyna to the baby in utter confusion. “She’s your child. Why would you need my permission to name her anything?”
Piper quirked her eyebrows at him like the answer should be obvious. The gears in his head ground to an abrupt halt. His vision started swimming with tears.
“You want to name your kid after me?”

Gentle CW for mentions of childbirth and anxieties surrounding that topic. I personally think this warning might even be overkill, but as per usual with stuff like this, my rule is better safe than sorry.
This fic is once again dedicated to my friend @queenjunothegreat, because Em was originally her baby (shared custody next gen verse my beloved <3) and she was the one who came up with her name. They also came up with the fic title because I’m useless when it comes to titles lmaooo
Soft married Valgrace & Pipeyna. Also lost trio content, obviously, specific focus once again being Leo and Piper’s friendship (can you tell I care so so much about these idiots?)
———
Leo hated hospitals. A hospital was where he’d spent the first few days after his mom’s death, being treated for smoke inhalation, and it was where his first set of awful foster parents had picked him up.
To say his memories of that time weren’t the fondest would have been the understatement of the century.
And sure, he knew in theory that this was different. New Rome Hospital had a really low death rate for anything that wasn’t battle-related injuries. As far as he knew, there hadn’t been a childbirth-related death here in a century. Realistically, he knew Piper was fine.
Still, the time the rather frazzled-looking Asclepius legacy that had greeted them was taking to figure out where she was and whether it was alright for her to have visitors made Leo’s anxious brain spiral in all kinds of unfun directions.
“Piper might still want to get back at us for the time we both died on her,” he told Jason, anxiously wringing his hands.
His husband raised an eyebrow at him.
“I don’t think she’d die out of spite ten years after the fact,” he commented, squeezing Leo’s hand. “Besides, Reyna said she was doing okay, and you know how she gets about Piper.”
And yeah, alright, that was a fair enough point, but Leo’s anxiety wasn’t exactly great at listening to reason. It never had been.
Nothing would calm him down until he’d seen with his own two eyes that Piper was doing okay.
“If we ever have a kid, we’re adopting,” he sighed into his husband’s shoulder.
Jason laughed, nuzzling him gently before leaning down to kiss him.
Jason’s lips were a little scabbed from where he had anxiously chewed on them.
“You’re such a hypocrite, you know that, right?” Leo teased, grinning up at his husband. “Thank the gods I got rid of all the staplers, or you might have started chewing on those, too. We cannot have you set that kind of example for baby McLean.”
“Will you ever let that one go?” Jason groaned, rolling his eyes. “I was two.”
“What kind of husband would I be if I did let it go, hm?” Leo asked, kissing him again.
Someone cleared their throat. A few years back, this might have made them jump apart like embarrassed children, but now, Leo pulled back slowly, eyes lingering on his husband a while longer.
He’d dragged Jason back out of the Underworld by the collar of his stupid school uniform when they’d been seventeen. He was allowed to be disgustingly in love in public. The people could deal.
The Asclepius legacy stood there again, staring down at his clipboard awkwardly. Leo was pretty sure the guy was younger than him—he looked barely older than twenty.
“Room 201. I wouldn’t recommend staying long—mother and child are both exhausted and will need plenty of rest. And wash your hands before you-”
“Okay, yeah, we’re not complete idiots,” Leo interrupted him. He’d washed his hands four times since getting to the hospital, just because it had given him something to do.
He was moving in an instant, dragging his husband along with him. Thankfully, his ankle had the decency not to be too much of an ass today.
“You’re going in the wrong direction,” Jason commented, voice tinged with amusement as he pulled him back the way they’d come.
“Why do you know that?” Leo asked, raising an eyebrow. “Just how much time did you spend here as a kid?”
Jason ignored him and kept walking.
~~~~
Leo wanted to knock on that stupid blue door. Really, he did.
So he wasn’t sure why it was that, instead of knocking, he stuffed his hands into the kangaroo pocket of his hoodie and just stared at the door like a total idiot.
His outfit wasn’t fancy, but it was clean, which was more than could be said for the clothes he’d worn in the workshop earlier that day. He wasn’t as bad as his husband, who Leo had had to talk out of wearing a suit to the hospital because he was worried about making a good first impression, but he was suddenly worried that maybe he still smelled of motor oil.
The kid would not remember, obviously, but he thought if the first thing he did was upset Piper’s baby, that would still suck. He wasn’t sure what he’d do if they didn’t like him.
Jason squeezed his shoulder. “Mi vida, you're gonna make a great uncle, you know that, right?”
“Duh. I’m incredible,” Leo announced, continuing to stare at the door.
As always, his husband saw right through him—not that Leo was making it especially hard to do so right now.
“They’re gonna love you. I mean it.” Jason nudged him. “You’re great with the kids we help at the shelter.”
“I mean, I guess,” Leo mumbled, but his shoulders relaxed, just a fraction. “If all else fails, I suppose I can always bribe them with candy once they’re a little older.”
Jason laughed, and Leo finally managed to make himself knock.
It was Reyna who opened the door. She wasn’t even the one who’d had the baby, but she still looked as much of a fucking disaster as Leo had ever seen her. She had deep rings under her reddened eyes and was wearing what Leo was decently sure were rumpled pajamas. Her hair had come loose from its usual neat braid and exploded in messy waves around her shoulders.
“It turns out my daughter is really fond of my hair,” Reyna explained dryly, but there was a softness in her eyes that was usually reserved for Piper. “Come in.”
She moved back to her wife’s bedside in an instant.
Piper looked… honestly, Leo had seen her look way worse. Her safety scissors bob didn’t look a lot more messy than usual, if he was being honest. Her skin was sweat-damp and she was obviously exhausted, but no one had stabbed her or tried to cook her into soup, which was definitely a plus.
Well, that and the way she was smiling down at the tiny bundle in her arms.
“Hey Pipes,” Leo said, raising his hand in a ridiculous wave as he moved to stand at her side.
“Hey.” Piper smiled up at them. “Glad you guys could make it. I’d wave back, but I’m holding a baby right now, so.”
The baby was small, but in the way Leo assumed newborns usually were. She had just the slightest hint of dark hair and equally dark eyes and was dressed in a small orange onesie.
She was looking right at him.
“She’s got your nose.” Leo paused. “Well, a very tiny copy of your nose. You’ve kept your own nose, as far as I can tell.”
“You’re lucky I love you as much as I do,” Piper sighed, poking her daughter in the nose in question. “Your tío is a bit of an idiot, but you’re going to love him, too. Trust me.”
The baby cooed happily.
“Great.” Leo groaned dramatically. “I’m being bullied by a newborn.”
Piper laughed.
“How are you feeling?” Jason asked, though Leo knew the baby had about 95% of his husband’s attention right now.
Jason had been pulling faces at her literally since they’d walked in the door.
He’d always been that way around kids, but babies were especially bad. They activated a protective, wildly affectionate parental instinct that Leo had to assume came from Jason’s wolf boy months because he definitely hadn’t gotten it from either of his parents.
It was endearing as hell, but had the unfortunate side effect that it had always made Leo think about a kid of their own, including back when he hadn’t felt even slightly ready for one.
“Exhausted. Content. A little embarrassed.” Piper burst into another fit of tired laughter. “I sort of yelled at my wife to get out. Twice. Which would have been fine, except I was apparently using charmspeak.”
“That you even told her to get out at all seems wildly unfair towards Reyna considering you guys didn’t even have sex,” Leo commented, raising an eyebrow at Piper. “This is, like, objectively not on her.”
Reyna snorted, which was always a massive win in Leo’s book. He’d had a hard time figuring out what sort of jokes made her laugh, and every time he managed, he felt immensely proud of himself.
“Nuh-uh,” Piper protested immediately. “Em may be a magic IVF baby, but she’s a magic IVF baby we both decided to have, so it’s still at least fifty percent Reyna’s fault.”
“That’s a responsibility I will gladly accept. She’s mine and she’s yours and I would not change that for anything in the world.” Reyna pressed a soft kiss to her wife’s forehead. Then she reached down towards her daughter. The baby happily grasped her fingers.
Reyna’s usual serious expression had melted away into a smile that was so sweet Leo thought it’d give him a toothache.
“Yeah, okay, we get it, you guys are adorable,” he commented, because he was a total hypocrite when it came to other people’s PDA. “But what I really want to know is how far out of the hospital you got before the charmspeak wore off.”
“The first time I realized by the end of the hallway. The second time I made it all the way out to the parking lot. How Piper had that kind of energy, I’ll never understand.” Reyna shook her head, a kind of quiet awe in her voice. “Though perhaps worse than me leaving for a few minutes was the fact that the second time it happened, it also affected the midwife.”
Jason abruptly stopped pulling faces at Em to look up at Piper with a horrified expression.
“That sounds terrifying. Are you okay?”
“It was scary as hell at the time.” Piper shrugged. “Looking back on it, it's mostly just funny.”
“You continue to be the strongest warrior I know,” Reyna told her fondly, leaning down to kiss her.
“Love, I was an absolute terror and you know it.” Piper beamed at her wife. “You are cute, though, so maybe I’ll allow it.”
“So, are you going to properly introduce us to your daughter anytime soon?” Leo teased, looking down at the newborn again. “I mean, baby McLean is cute, but it’s a bit on the nose as far as names go.”
“You called her Em, right?” Jason asked, apparently eager to get a good grade in uncle. He looked like he might genuinely explode if he didn’t get to hold the baby within the next three seconds, but also like he’d bravely bear that fate because he didn’t want to be rude. “What's that short for?”
“Technically, her name isn’t officially anything yet,” Piper told them, wiggling into a more comfortable sitting position. “But we’d like to name her Emilia, if Leo is okay with it.”
“Huh?” Leo looked from Piper to Reyna to the baby in utter confusion. “She’s your child. Why would you need my permission to name her anything?”
Piper quirked her eyebrows at him like the answer should be obvious.
The gears in his head ground to an abrupt halt. His vision started swimming with tears.
“You want to name your kid after me?”
Leo hadn’t gone by Emilio since before he’d met Piper. He’d almost forgotten she knew his full name.
“Only if you’re okay with it,” Piper told him, suddenly looking awkward. “I know why you don’t use the name for yourself, but I figured just naming her Lea might be confusing. Sorry, I probably should have asked you sooner. If you don’t want-”
“No, no, if you guys really want that, I’d be honored. But like- why?” he asked in utter disbelief. “Why me, out of all people?”
“Because you’re my best friend,” Piper said, smiling at him. “Because you’re brave and smart and the best person I know. Because you defied fate and found happiness despite all odds. Because I’ll be lucky if she grows up to be even a little bit like you.”
Leo turned to Reyna. He could feel the tears running down his cheeks. “You’re okay with that?”
Reyna nodded, her expression solemn. “If names really do have power, yours is the greatest blessing we can give her.”
Leo was absolutely bawling his eyes out. His husband wrapped an arm around his shaking shoulders and soothingly ran a hand up and down the length of his arm.
“She’s the luckiest kid in the universe,” Jason told him, pressing a kiss to the back of his head.
Leo had thought himself a curse for most of his childhood. He’d gotten better about it in recent years, since he’d made peace with his mother’s death and led Jason back out of the Underworld, but the pain had never fully faded.
Piper and Reyna associating his name with joy—choosing it for their daughter to make sure she’d be happy —was hitting him on a level he couldn’t fully process.
It had been one thing to know on a theoretical level that Piper wanted him to be her child’s godfather—minus the religious connotations.
But this? To know his best friend not only trusted him with the smallest, most precious human being Leo had ever met, but that she trusted his name to keep her safe? He genuinely didn’t think he would ever recover from that.
“I love you guys,” he sniffled. “So much.”
He knew that was a deeply uncool reaction. Maybe he should have been all smug and braggy about the whole thing. Maybe he would be, later, once everything had properly sunken in.
But right now, he couldn’t stop crying.
”And we love you right back,” Piper said with a soft smile, leaning forward and holding her armful of curious baby out towards him. “You’re not getting out of holding your niece, you know that, right?”
“Yeah, I know.” He sniffled.
Leo had been terrified of holding Em basically since he knew she existed. He’d never been able to bring himself to hold Percy and Annabeth’s kid, despite all the times they’d babysat back in college. It had been easy enough to pass the job off to Jason, who loved holding babies.
That way, Leo could avoid any potential disasters. No way he could drop a baby he never even held, right?
He’d known that Piper wouldn’t let him get away with that when it came to her child, and that knowledge had scared the hell out of him for months. What if he screwed up? What if he did it wrong and somehow hurt the baby?
But Piper was holding Em out towards him, an expression of utter trust on her face, and Leo couldn’t do anything but reach out to take his tiny niece from her arms, trying to mirror the way Piper had held her.
Emilia stared up at him with wide, curious eyes. Her weight felt awkward in his arms.
“Gods, I’m totally messing this up, aren’t I?”
“You’re really not,” Piper reassured him. “Just make sure you’re supporting her head. Here, I’ll-” She tried to lean forward, but stopped, wincing.
“Hermosa, you’re supposed to be resting,” Reyna told her, voice firm and concerned.
She was smiling at Leo, but she was also wringing her hands, watching him closely like maybe she was expecting him to drop her daughter.
That made two of them.
Leo could easily picture her vaulting over the bed to catch her child if that happened, though that weirdly didn’t make him feel a lot better about the possibility.
“Don’t mind my lovely wife. Rey’s just nervous,” Piper whispered, patting his arm. “You’re the first person aside from us and the hospital staff who gets to hold Em.”
“If you’re trying to make me less nervous, reminding me that I’m messing up one of Emilia’s first experiences with being held was not the way to go,” Leo joked, trying to shift the baby in his arms. This was not very effective, seeing as he had no idea what he was doing.
“I can help, if you want,” Jason volunteered immediately. He waited for Leo to nod, then put his hands over Leo’s and carefully adjusted his hold on Em a bit. “Here. Just support her head a little more. You’re doing great, mi vida.”
Emilia’s weight felt a little less awkward in his arms now. Leo relaxed a fraction, smiling down at her.
“Thanks for the assist.”
“Always.” Jason nuzzled Leo’s cheek. “You were barely even messing up. You just have a tendency to overthink things when you’re nervous.”
“Says the guy who almost came here in a suit,” Leo commented, but he didn’t look up. His entire focus was on the newborn in his arms. He was mesmerized.
“Hi, sobrinita.” He was still sniffling, but he hadn't made his niece cry yet, so he was counting that as a win. “Gods, you’re a literal baby and somehow I’m the one wailing at you. So much for decent first impressions, hm?”
Emilia cooed at him.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” he agreed, nodding his head at his niece. Holding her grew easier with each passing moment. She was looking at him like he was the only person in the universe.
Leo loved her immediately.
He couldn’t believe he’d been as anxious as he had about holding her. He couldn’t believe he’d almost made himself miss out on this.
“Pipes, I hope you’re not expecting me to say no to her, ever, because I can tell you right now that it’s not gonna happen.”
Piper laughed. “Oh, please. Your job was never going to be responsible godfather. If that was what I was looking for, I’d have picked someone else.”
“We’re gonna get into so much trouble together,” he whispered to Em, grinning at her.
This time, Emilia didn’t smile back at him. Instead she scrunched up her face and started crying.
Leo froze.
“Oh gods, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what I did, I was just-”
“Babies cry. You didn’t do anything wrong,” Piper told him gently. “I can’t believe she’s been as quiet as she has since you two came in, honestly. This is the calmest she’s been since she was born.”
“Oh.” Leo had almost managed to stop crying, but that made him start up again.
“She cried when I first held her, too,” Reyna told him. When he looked up at her, he could tell some of the tension had gone out of her shoulders, despite the fact that he’d just managed to upset her daughter. “I’m glad she’ll grow up knowing her emotions aren’t something to fear.”
Leo hadn’t even considered thinking about it like that, but it made sense that Reyna would. When he’d first met her, there would have been no way for him to tell if she’d cried—if she’d allowed herself to cry at all.
He looked at her red-rimmed eyes again, the expression on her face genuine and fond, and could immediately feel more tears running down his cheeks. He’d have walked over and hugged her this instant if it hadn’t been for the newborn in his arms.
“Yeah.” Leo sniffled. “Me too.”
He was pretty sure he hadn’t cried this many happy tears since Jason had started reciting his wedding vows in slightly awkward Spanish.
“Can I-” Jason asked, gesturing vaguely towards Emilia. When Leo and Piper both nodded, he took the baby into his own arms, rocking her gently. His expression immediately melted into the world’s softest smile.
Seeing them like this, Leo would have married him again in an instant.
“She’s probably overstimulated. This is the most people she’s ever met in her life,” Jason concluded once he’d managed to soothe her a little.
“I get it. People are really overwhelming.” Leo wiped at his eyes. “I still can’t believe my stupid sewer rat face is, like, the fifth face this poor kid has ever seen. She did not need to be exposed to sewer rats this early in her life.”
“There’s nothing wrong with your face,” Jason protested immediately. “I like your face.”
“You’re married to me. You’re supposed to say that,” Leo teased, but he still found himself smiling. “We should probably leave you guys for the day, hm? You three all look like you could use a nap.”
“As long as you promise you’ll be back soon,” Piper insisted, smiling up at them as Jason—very reluctantly—handed Emilia back to her. “Hi, sweetie. You’re a little sleepy, hm?”
Emilia yawned in agreement.
“You’re not getting rid of us that easily.” Leo grinned at his best friend.
“Thanks for coming here as soon as you did. And, you know, for all the other sappy stuff I’m not going to say right now because I think we’ve all cried enough for one day.”
“Yeah. Gotta save some of that for tomorrow,” Leo agreed, wiping at his eyes with his sleeve. Then he reached out, gently pressing his finger into his niece’s palm. “Bye bye, Emilia. Be nice to your moms, okay?”
Her hand closed into a fist, holding his finger tightly.
Leo let out a startled laugh.
“She’s got excellent reflexes,” Reyna said proudly.
“Yeah, well, I guess that means we’re not leaving yet. I’m really not sure how I’ll ever get out of this finger trap without the ability to turn into an iguana.”
Both Piper and Jason immediately cracked up. Reyna just looked confused. Leo made a mental note to tell her that particular story some other time.
“Anything we should bring you tomorrow?” Jason asked. He looked Reyna over. “Do you want some clothes that aren’t, uh-”
“…pajamas?” Reyna laughed. “Yes. That would be great. I checked the hospital bag about fourteen times to make sure we’d packed everything we might need, but it somehow did not occur to me that we’d be leaving in the middle of the night, nor that I’d need to pack any clothes for myself.”
“I want a large coffee and the least healthy pastry you can find,” Piper said immediately. “Reyna has everything else covered.”
Leo laughed. He reluctantly removed his finger from Em’s grasp, linking his hand with his husband’s as they left.
And, well, if he spent the rest of the evening baking horrendously sugary pastries, that was nobody’s business but his own.
Fic Notes:
-Fun fact! I edited this at 3 am last night and then I didn’t even post it because I couldn’t think of a title. It is now, once again, 3 am. My sleep schedule is doing great, thanks for asking.
-The concept of “names have power” is so interesting to toy with specifically in a context like this. Because like, objectively, Leo has had a lot of bad stuff happen to him. He’d never even considered thinking of his name as a blessing before this. But few demigod or legacies lead easy lives, and in the end the thing that outweighs anything else is that he’s managed to find happiness, despite the odds being stacked against him.
-Also, considering Reyna has a prophecy hanging over her head that’s specifically linked to family legacy, it just makes sense for her and Piper to choose Leo’s name. What better way to protect your child from a prophecy than giving her the name of someone who defied his fate?
-Would really like to eventually go into Reyna’s feelings on all this more, but that deserves a whole fic of its own.
-For anyone who’d like context on the Emilio thing, the very basic idea of that being Leo’s full name and him never using it is that his mom always used his full name and he’s terrified he’ll forget what it sounded like if other people use it, because no one ever says it quite like she did.
-Here’s a little fic Juno wrote about Piper finding out Leo’s full name for anyone who wants a little extra context!
-“But canonically his name is Leonidas.” As far as I’m aware, Rick actually confirmed his name is just Leo. Also, this is a fanfic, I can therefore do whatever I want :)
Thank you so much for reading! Comments, as always, extremely appreciated.
Split Ends - Prologue II | Shigaraki x Reader
Synopsis: Shigaraki ponders about his old friend. Old scabs get picked, old places revisited, and new feelings emerge. He swore he had a plan when he saw you that day, but plans change, don’t they?
📝 gn!reader | childhood friend! reader
-
Shigaraki had never been one to feel confused about anything. He had been the most certain he’s ever been at his stance on his past. He was abandoned, then taken in, then let the truest form of reality show itself piece by piece. He was certain of who he was.
So why is it that he was confused when he saw you for the first time in a decade?
It was no surprise that when he saw you after a decade or so, he was planning something. Planning a reunion, of sorts. Yet he was stuck, stuck in the rut of trying to find out just what the hell happened to you for you to come back so suddenly. He had been tracking you, of course. Memorizing your routine, the steps home, where you usually frequent. He needed everything before he could even begin to act on this so-called “reunion” plan.
He slumps over his chair, feverishly playing the sims to get his mind off of things. He needed to have control of something right now.
Memories of when you were kids began to replay in the back of his mind. You were his closest friend back then, and you probably would think that you still are now. He could hear the shared giggling ringing in his ear as he continued to get sucked into the game. He cant admit it. He won’t admit it.
Still, the sounds of your laughter echoed in the back of his mind as he continues to be brought back to that place, back to the few things he remembered from his childhood.
They say that it’s normal to be battling demons from the past, but you couldn’t exactly fit the description of one. You were sweet, kind, and the only one outside his mother who had treated him the nicest in his life. You had indulged in his fantasies of becoming a hero. You had tried your hardest to play with him despite your parents’ wishes, and you especially were trying until you couldn’t anymore to see him.
So why, why is he so pissed off right now?
Maybe it’s because you were the only living person alive to know “Tenko” and only “Tenko”. Perhaps it’s because you were the only one he didn’t already disintegrate, the only one he hadn’t ruined by his own hands. Or maybe it’s his reaction to knowing that there is one other person alive that would be able to understand him now.
He knew you were at least alive. But you were unreachable, at least now.
Ah. His sim just blew up the stove. Great.
Shigaraki scoffs, leaning back as he stares up the ceiling. He breathes in the room air as he ponders what had happened to get you to come back here.
-
Visions of the past starts to resurface. He remembered, you used to play with him after school, didn’t you?
The sounds of birds chirping in the background colored his ears as he remembered the streets you two would walk together with. You had a hero action figure on one hand, and the box at the other. "I can't believe it! We scored another goodie!" Laughter filled the air as the two of you shared glances at the toy. "You're too good at this sometimes...it's insane!" Tenko exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air once as if he were a superhero. You smiled "I know right! My quirk's looking up to be quite useful after all~" - Shigaraki clicked feverishly again, trying to undo a fire. - More visions appeared. This time, you were the one to wait outside his house.
"Tenko! It's me! I got the board game!" Tenko of course, ran downstairs with his backpack and hat ready. His mother shared nodding glances at yours as the two of you head over to your house to play. In your room, you open up the board game to reveal a monopoly game. Only this time, you two wouldn't be playing the usual way. Pieces began to float as you closed your eyes, manipulating a scene of a lively city area. The pieces move and manipulate to your heart's whims, Tenko only stared in awe as the molded plastic suddenly turned lively. "What do you see, Tenko? I need to keep my eyes closed to keep going" Tenko furrowed his brows, tilting his head as he sees a man trying to control his out of control dog from.
"A guy is trying really hard to control his dog right now" he giggled, leaning closer to watch the events unfold. You could only giggle back, shutting your eyes further as you imagined that scenario even more vividly. "And what's happening now?" Tenko stares down, seeing a group of individuals dance around near the beach. "There's a dance group right now! They're doing that one kira kira sequence!" You gasped, opening your eyes "Really?!" Just like that, everything stopped, reverted, and fell to the side. The two of you sighed, disappointed at the sight. A pout formed at your face "It's not fair...I wanna see my quirk too..." You slumped over, fiddling with one of the plastic pieces "If only I could open my eyes without disabling my quirk...It's no fun only having to hear what's happening while everything's pitch black..." A sigh escaped your lips, yet Tenko muttered out, his face flushing "Well, if we were a hero duo, I can look out for the stuff you're doing always" Your eyes opened up "That's a great idea! We'll duo this thing together!"
Tenko looked over at you, his eyes glimmering with a sense of admiration. "Y-you really mean that?" You smiled, pumping your fist in the air "Yeah! We could be a hero duo just you'll see! You be my eyes and I'll be your hands!"
- Another screw-up. Shiggy's sim didn't feed their baby again. -
Another memory. One that wasn't so...happy. It was the last time he had ever saw you. A day before you left the neighborhood, and the day you left him. You were in his room this time, flipping through the comic books that Tenko had borrowed from the library. The air was quiet, but even he could tell that you were troubled by something. You spoke out finally, “My parents are mad at me again...” Tenko looked over, closing the comic as he looked over at you in confusion. "Dad doesn't like my quirk at all...he told me that if I keep using it, I'll get in serious trouble" You frowned, continuing "What does he know anyway? It's not fair..."
Tenko could only look down, saddened that you're being punished for something so great. I mean, why would your dad even find issue with this? It's your quirk for goodness’ sake! If anything, you should be able to use it as much as you wanted! You sighed, rolling over closer to Tenko "But y'know...Mom has a way to convince dad that my quirk is any good" Snickering through your words, you smiled "If all goes well tomorrow, I'll be in the clear to be a certified hero when I grow up!" Tenko only smiled, chuckling softly as he reminisced about that promise of being a hero duo with you.
"I can't wait for tomorrow then!"
- Shigaraki's eyes twitched as he sees the notification bar on the top right. His baby was taken away.
He took a deep breath, hands shaking as he tried his best to not disintegrate his mouse.
"Dammit."
Shigaraki cursed at himself silently. He stared up at the boarded out windows, seeing the moonlight illuminate his room as he stared at the clock right next to one of the windows. It was time for your nightly walks. He begins scratching his neck again, thinking...
Maybe it was time to pay you a visit. Personally.
Sirius is such an interesting character. Such a shame that I completely abhor his personality. His mysterious and magnetic aura attracts me but his personality always makes me cringe away from liking him. But out of all the Blacks him and Andromeda (not her personality just her story) are the most compelling. Narcissa is kind of boring to me, Regulus is sort of there and Bellatrix is a dilemma. In the books she is just this nasty character but overall she has lots of potential to uncover so that leaves me undecided whether I like her or not lol. The potential is there but Rowling failed at giving her more depth so we are left with shit.
Right? And for me, one of Rowling's biggest mistakes with Sirius was putting so much effort into whitewashing him and downplaying his awful personality, instead of giving him the depth he deserved. Sirius chose the right path, but he was a very dark guy with a lot of ghosts, and clearly had inherited terrible traits due to the upbringing he had in his family. He's a chaotic good by the book, who tends to do what's right, but in ways that can cause real damage, and that's pretty interesting about his character. I think if Rowling had spent less time portraying him as the great father figure for Harry and someone we should forgive all his sins for being "one of the good guys," and instead had given him a more realistic portrayal, one where the guy has good qualities and genuinely loves the protagonist and would do anything for him but his moral compass is highly questionable, then I could have accepted his past personality without it being so problematic. Even if he didn’t regret being a jerk, if the narrative confirmed that he was a jerk, then I could reconcile with him. But the narrative constantly excuses him, and that’s something I can’t forgive. For me, the most tragic part of Sirius' character is that I see him as the flip side of Severus: the guy who comes from a rich, aristocratic background and tries to do the right thing but messes it up vs the guy who comes from a poor, resource-lacking background and ends up on the wrong path but eventually reforms. They have a lot of similarities: both were obsessed with their best friends, both project James onto Harry (each in their own way), both hated one of their parents fiercely, both hated their childhood homes but in the end, they end up trapped in them (Severus always returns to Spinner's End, Sirius could have chosen any room in the Black house to sleep in but chose his hated mother's bedroom), and both are dysfunctional adults who’ve stagnated cognitively in their teenage years due to trauma. They're two sides of the same coin, and it would have been really interesting to explore that aspect of Sirius instead of turning him into a useless and pathetic character. Because yes, Sirius is pathetic, let’s not fool ourselves, but in the books, he’s not pathetic for the right reasons.
And of course, Bellatrix had a lot of potential beyond being a fanatic follower of Voldemort, but Rowling doesn’t like dysfunctional women, in fact, she hates them, so she only portrays them as pure evil without much depth, because apparently, she can’t accept that women are more than just self-sacrificing mothers and pick-me girl cheerleaders for the heroes. Such a shame.
siobhan thompson appreciation post because her characters just make me so happy and they're so. good. she's so good at characters! spoilers for every intrepid heroes season of d20. i could do a whole other post about her sidequest characters bc they're so good.
Adaine Abernant. The Elven Oracle. She's always been one of my absolute favorite characters ever. Her anxiety representation in the first season makes me feel more seen, understood, and represented than any other character ever. She's literally so cool! She starts freshman year as an awkward nerd and becomes a cool nerd! Her anxiety never goes away, but the medication makes it manageable. She hates her parents because they're awful! Just the rep of having awful parents and hating them and that's okay because they suck! You should hate your parents if they suck as bad as the Abernants! Not everyone gets a redemption arc. If they suck, they suck.
Misty/Rowan. Misty is the perfect representation of an old lady who gives no fucks. She flirts so hard with that guy at the pixie wedding. She openly admits to having been friends with John Wilkes Booth. But at the same time? Will not give her age. A lady never tells. She's absolutely ancient and doesn't fucking care, but she also has this undertone of absolute existential panic because she needs adoration to survive! She stays relevant because she has to! Don't get me started on Rowan. I have a crush on Rowan Berry. She's reborn and immediately starts flirting with Pete, which is iconic in its own right. She's a bard who gives bardic inspiration by either flirting or complimenting, and sometimes the lines blur just a little bit. Absolute queen shit. She defeats the queen of Faerie and has no desire to go back until the Fae court tells her hey. You left us with no leader. And then brings democracy to Faerie! President Rowan!
Ruby Rocks! She starts the season as a kid who loves her sister just so much. That's the most integral part of her character. She's a princess and a rogue, and she loves her sister. She has a lot of development over the season! She ends as a woman who fights for her family and her country. She hates Saccharina when they first meet, a new sister on the tails of the loss of the most important person she's ever had. After Jet's death, she's overcome with grief and takes a level of shadow sorcerer because of it! Her development is amazing, a truly wonderful arc.
Iga Lizowski! Oh. My. God. She's the first pc that is a mom in d20, or at least in the Intrepid Heroes. Her relationship with her kids is so fun to watch, from urging Jessica to engage with the chest to bringing her into another part of the Unsleeping City. Then Nick, who she hadn't pressed at all to take responsibility for the chest, decides to become another defender of his family's magic! Not only is she an amazing mother, she's a fortune teller by trade! She knows full well that everything she does has merit, and that magic is real, but makes it all seem like a lie to cater to her clientele. It's not her intention to become a part of the Dream Team, but when her family is threatened, she fights like hell. Also she has a pseudodragon that's just a magical chihuahua and that's so old ladycore it's such a perfect choice.
Riva. They're just on their gallivant, honestly. They decorate their psychodrone with magnets. They're trying to sell pleasure putty. They make their own hours, but they don't know how. Riva is sweet and fun and naive. They love their friends and they love the outside world and they're having a great ass time on their gallivant.
Rosamund. Du. Prix. Quick little shoutout to Siobhan's princess voice because no joke she did my favorite accent. It borders on transatlantic (my favorite accent) but is very Disney princess. She starts as a Disney princess, too! To have a character looking for her true love wake up, search for him, and ultimately sacrifice her chance at having him is *mwah* beautiful. True love isn't real! She directly confronts this, and a member of her party is living proof of it. She has to see the prince who came to save her, and upon meeting him, she realizes how fucked the idea is. He kisses her once and that's all? She doesn't know him, she doesn't love him. How can she live happily ever after with him? Her story is about having things happen to her, but she wrenches the pen from the authors' hands and writes her fucking own! Once upon a time, there was a princess who tried speed dating!
Your modern au Wars:
Oh also ! I'm sorry if you've been asked this before, but is this version of Wars like classic LU Warriors or does he have the DLC that your version of Wars has? (Like, the internalised need to be perfect/beautiful, blood sugar issues, etc.) (also sorry I'm incredibly sleep deprived writing this so it may not be 100% coherent-)
THATS HIM ALKNSLSNLN
my miscellaneous modern au Wars IS my version of him just in the modern world, but there are a few differences, the biggest being his family relationships. His father was never in the picture in this au, he was raised by a single mother, and his relationship with her is awful at best. They don’t really speak, she’s allowed to contact him once per month (a boundary Wars set that she agreed to) and they haven’t physically been in the same room since he was 17 years old when he left home for the dorms. She was never physically abusive to him, and she does love and care about him very very much in her, but she tired to live through him after him being born ruined her career as a dancer at 19 and the amount of stress she put on him at such a young age is 100% the reason he’s BARELY a functional adult after years and years of therapy and she didn’t realize all the harm she was causing until it was far too late. She’s the reason he’s so conflicted about his love for dance and the reason he misses skating so much, because that was HIS thing and he feels like staying in dance is just doing what his mother wanted all along. Had she been older or had support raising him, she could have been a good parent, she was just very young and very angry at the situation she was in. Wars blames her for a lot of things that aren’t technically her fault, but he has every right to be upset with her. If they both worked for it they COULD have a relationship again (not a GREAT one, but something), but Wars is still trying to process a lot of trauma and he really needs space and time to heal from a lot of things. Malon kinda snatched him up the moment Twi brought him to the ranch so he has a supportive mother figure in his life, but his relationship with his actual mother is just. Not fantastic
another thing is that he didn’t grow up with sisters in this au like he did with how I write him normally, but he DOES have a half-sister from the same father, and that’s Linkle. She’s a year older than him and after HER mom died she wanted to find people from her dad’s side and ended up finding Wars and then realized they went to the same college and she was like “PERFECT!” and wanted to meet him. He was a little wary of meeting her at first (he had a lot going on in his personal life at the time) but they’ve slowly become pretty decent friends :)
apart from that, my standard Wars I write and this Wars are the same PERSON, they’ve just been through very different experiences so there are small differences simply because one of these guys went through war and the other one owns an iphone alkjslskjlksj. Both are brazilian/scottish, have blood sugar issues, a fear of returning home, a bad knee, naturally dark curly hair that’s straightened and dyed blond, horrific eyesight, etc. that’s all the same, but the cause for the need to be perfect is a little different (pressure from being the hero and having a war caused over you vs. being raised in an environment that leads you to believe that if you’re not the best you’re nothing at all)
sorry for rambling i put. way too much thought into this au and also this character- i wuv him he is my blorbo and special guy 🥺
until next time / part two / raven to bradley
this is not a full fic! this is the text-post version of the letter photos from my fic over on my main blog @vivalas-vega that you can read here
Bradley,
I wish I had more to update you on - things have been pretty boring around here. I did have a drunken facetime with Nat and I feel better about everything. Still processing, but I’ll be fine. I have been channeling it into my writing - between these letters and all the journaling my hand is cramping like no other.
My trip home was as to be expected - my parents send their best and you unfortunately have a very ugly blanket my mom knitted for you awaiting your return. Your parents’ headstones were completely overgrown and I absolutely didn’t yell at the groundskeeper but we did have a chat about maintaining the grave of an American hero. I know they wouldn’t care about weeds, but I don’t know where else to put my love so just let me wig out about the landscaping. I had a good talk with Goose and after talking with your mom the biggest gust of wind kicked up. It was probably a coincidence but I like to believe it was her way of giving me a hug - it felt the same.
I’ve been thinking about your offer - San Diego does sound really great right now but I don’t know how feasible it is to actually go. I made the mistake of mentioning it to Natasha and now it’s all she’s texting me about. It somehow feels like the right and wrong time to get out of the city… but, I’ll bring it up with Miranda in our meeting this week and see what she says. I know I should be more spontaneous and just go for it but you know that’s never been my strong suit. I’m incredibly surprised your guest room still isn’t set up, I helped you furnish it over facetime months ago. Has it all just been sitting there in boxes this whole time? Very unlike you, Mr. Bradshaw.
I don’t know if Jake told you but my last letter wound up on his pillow and he wrote me to apologize for reading it. I know you have your opinions about him but I found it kind of endearing and I’m going to write him back. Figured I’d warn you in case you see my handwriting on an envelope that isn’t addressed to you. It seems I’m adopting another naval aviator and I’m contemplating opening a business - I’m sure there’s a market for lonely military personnel, however the more I think about it the more I realize it could get really gross, really fast.
Did you like the book? Natasha read it too so maybe we could get a book club going. I’ll start workshopping some names - I’m not sure how to incorporate Dagger Squad and literature but I’ll figure it out. I wish you hadn’t referred to it as free porn but you’re welcome. I’m not sure why you’re disturbed I’m considering those needs as well as your snack and fresh sock needs. I'm sure there are people on that ship that would love to have such a considerate friend on the outside. That made it sound like you’re in prison, but the lack of contact and these letters kind of makes it feel that way on my end. I’m only doing my part because frankly I don’t know how any of you survive on those ships so long, I think I’d lose my mind. Are there any cute girls you’ve noticed around? Could be a nice story to fall in love on deployment. Could also be my next big book idea, so get to it so I have some real world inspiration.
I promise I really will think about San Diego - it would be nice to be able to welcome you home. These letters don’t do a lot for the whole missing you thing. The more I mull it over the more I realize I really need to get out of the city for a while.
Miss and love you lots (also, I’m not using that paper anymore. It’s awful, I donated it to my friends classroom),
Raven
A boi!
Now, everyone knows Billie loves her big brother, Miles, she basically his number one fan. When she came to this world, she remembers his warmth, his kind words and his bright smile. Something about that just click to her, that she loves so much. She loves that he's always around for her, always loving her, always being there! No matter what she's always happy to be his little sister.
Especially when he's Spider-man! A great hero, always risking his life to save those in need. When he took her around during his normal patrol as Spider-man. She knew, even for being so small, she knew this is a secret she will have to keep! For being responsible, and a protector of her Big Bro's secret identity, it is a great duty for her to keep.
However, her loyalty can go so far...
It's a beautiful day in Brooklyn, the weather is perfectly nice because it's Spring and the breeze is nice. Three year old, Billie chilling on her dad's armchair while watching her Doc McStuffin, she suckled on her pacifier as she enjoyed her show.
Her big brother being busy with sweeping the floor, he wore a tank top and shorts with some flip flops as he cleans the house. Miles wanted to help his parents out by cleaning the remaining chores, he spend the day with laundry, washing dishes, organizing the family's inventory closet. Now he wanted to sweep, and mop before putting new sheets on his parents' bed. "Boo-boo, you want a snack?" He wipe the sweat off his forehead, then check his gizmo to see the time.
"No..." Billie shook her head, she still was full from breakfast.
"Okay, Łęt me know when you're hungry or thirsty." Her brother said while he continues to sweep the floor.
She kept watching her show, after thirty minutes the doorbell rang. Miles went to the front of the door, "That must be him." He said to himself.
The little girl assume it's Hobie, which she got her web-shooter ready. It's weird that her brother's boyfriend would come through the front door like that. Doesn't he always come out of a big magical portal? She stood on the big comfy recliner glance over to the hallway, hearing her brother talking to another boy?
Miles opens the door to find one of his high school friends, Judge coming by to drop something off for him. "Hey, man. Long time no see!" He gave his friend a quick hug.
"Hey, my dude. What's up! You know, working, school and keeping the ladies in check." Judge said, he hold a bag, "Oh here you go, man. I hope you like it. It's a bit jack up."
"Nah, it's good." Miles happily look in the bag to find the action figure, "I know how to repair it and it'll be a great gift for Ganks. Hey, you wanna come in."
"Sure, man. Been awhile since we hung out." Judge playfully wrapped his arm around his high school friend's shoulders, "Ay, man. You gotten so tall!"
"Pfft, you too. You act like you're 5'4"." Miles jokes as he shut the door as they came down the hallway.
Billie peaks over being more confused, "Who's dat?"
Miles turns to find his baby sister standing on the armchair, "Hey, Boo-boo. This is Judge. You remember him?"
"Wow, she gotten so big. I highly doubt she remembers me." Judge chuckles.
That's right, Billie doesn't remember him. Then again, she never cared about other people beside her big brother. She looks up to study Judge is a dark skinned male with glasses. He wore so expensive shirt, jacket, jeans and Jordans with some short dreads. He smiles at her, "Hey, Billie. Been a long time!"
"Hi..." She reached out to her big brother being nervous with this random stranger. She had no clue who was this was. "Mmm!" She whines at Miles.
"What's wrong, Billie? Awe, don't be scared. You met Judge. He's a great guy!" Miles calms her down by picking her up giving her hugs and kisses on her forehead. "Sorry, I guess she doesn't know you."
"It's alright, man. She was a little baby when I saw her, haha. I'm not surprise she doesn't remember me." Judge chuckles before adjusting his glasses. "Anyway, man. What's up with you? I heard you and Ganks are at Columbia."
"Yeah, man! That place is great." Miles put his sister back at the armchair before taking Judge to get him a drink, "You want some soda? Also, I heard you went to Japan! That's so cool!"
"Yup, I went three times. I'm planning to go to aboard for a class." Judge grins widely, "It's great to visit tho. I dunno about living there, tho..."
Billie watch the two as she suckle her pacifier, she didn't like how show off-y the stranger was. Maybe she didn't know him too well, and she knows she shouldn't judge him. Still, her guts was telling her, "What about Hobie? Does he know this man?"
She watches them seeing her brother sitting close to his friend after serving his a glass of soda. Judge kept talking on and on about his journey to Japan, while Miles' eyes gleam with wonder.
The three year old went back to watch her show, she accidentally stepped on the remote control changing the channel to a Spanish Soap Opera.
"I'm sorry José, but I've been cheating on you with Juan!" The woman in a red dress dramatically said to her boyfriend. "We been talking about old times and fallen in love."
Billie slowly sat down as she watches her mom's favorite show. "Hmm?" She suckled her pacifier with her head tilt.
"But Maria, we been together forever. My love for you burns like a thousand suns. My heart is real, my passion is raw for you!" José said being heartbroken.
Juan smirks with his handsome charm as he did a dramatic chuckle, "Ahahaha! I stolen your beloved Maria by talking to her and listening to her sorrows! I am the only man for her." He held Maria who's being dramatic. The two held each other while
José cries out, "Mariaaa, nooo!"
Billie glances over hearing Miles and Judge cracking up about something they were talking about. In her eyes she thought she saw Judge being flirty and quickly assumed he wanted to steal away her big brother.
"I must tell Obie! A boi! A boi! Is he-wuh!" She thought in her head, she looks down to her right side to find her iPad tablet at the end of the bigger long couch. Normally, she only plays her fun games but quickly get bored, since she loves playing with her dolls.
Anyway, the three year old quickly jumps over to the long couch trying to be like Spider-man. Wobbling over to her with each step on the soft cushions, she must be careful not to get their attention.
When she reached her iPad, she quickly jumps over like she was making a touchdown at a football game.
"Got it!" Quickly, she sat up straight placing her iPad upward. It quickly scan her face leading to an opening scene. She starts slamming her tiny hands on the messenger logo.
"Okay, we getting somewhere...mmm" She tries to remember the symbols and letters of Hobie's name. Ever since she learned how to write words, she was able to read them as well. Although she is three years old, she came make out names. Since she been using the tablet for a while she kind knows how to text.
Hopefully with all the observation she done with her family, she can send Hobie a message. Now, where to start.
"Hmmm, Obie? Where is Obie?" She saw the contact list seeing the number one responders are her papá and Miles. Normally, she would FaceTime her daddy because she misses him from long hours of work. Sometimes she likes playing with the filters and funny emojis, too. Her finger scroll down to her little contacts, she saw her mom's name, her grandmother, and her eyes lit up.
"OBIE!" The little girl spotted Hobie's name typed in as 'Obie' with a guitar emoji. She happily tap the name leading her to a chat section. Okay, now she's heading somewhere.
Her ears caught her big brother laughing out loud, "Dude, ain't no way. You literally are dating three girls at a time? That's crazy!"
"Aye, man. I got game." Judge smirks.
Billie didn't like the bragging, so she had to hurry. Her hand slap on the keyboard seeing the same letters as she learned.
Texting to Obie;
Billie: OBIE! OBIE! Obie!
She sent that first before texting another word.
"Umm... ummm.." What else can she spell? She only knows so little words.
The punker saw her text having to write.
Obie: Lass? You texting me? Or this Miles?
Billie couldn't only understand her brother's name.
Billie: OBIE! OBIE!
Needless to say Hobie being at home was caught off guard by the random text, he did remember his Sunflower put the family iPad's number on his Gizmo for emergency. He thought it was weird Billie sent him a text, in fact he didn't know she could send a text.
Hobie: Lil Blu? Dat u?
Billie stares at the screen seeing Blu and U, she understood and type: YUS!
Hobie being impressed: Wow, good job at texting me.
Billie type again: Obie! OBIE! Miles Miles
She needs to figure out how to say, "Strange man is here!" If only she can spell more words.
Hobie tilted his head, then sent: Miles, okay?
Billie tap on the emoji section and sent: Miles ☹️
That took the punker off guard: Miles 🙁?
Billie: 😣
"Sad face... sad face...." She pushes another text.
Billie: Miles a b
She didn't know how to spell BOY, so she tries to remember.
Hobie: Miles a b? 😂 Lass, u too funny.
Billie: NO! NO! 😡
She type again: MILES MILES ☹️ a boi
She thinks that's how to spell boy.
Hobie looks at the screen.
Hobie: Blu gender is a social construct.
Billie types again: A boi! A boi! Miles & boi!
She remembers when her dad takes her to Tony's & Tony's pizza, her dad always said 'and' and the symbol & would there. She figure that's what that symbol means.
Hobie stops to reread the message being so surprised by Miles' little sister. Did she mean the way he think she meant?
Hobie: Blu, Miles & a BOI?
Billie types: Yus.
Then she slap on the camera she press the ten second button, with her two tiny hands she lift the iPad to give her a selfie with her big brother and Judge laughing in the background being close. She capture the photo and send it to Hobie.
Billie: Miles & BOI!
Hobie stopped for a few second then text her.
Hobie: I'm coming, lass
She could read that, being very proud she became successful. "Boo-boo, what are you doing?" Her big brother came by wanting to check up on her only to find her on her iPad.
"Nuthin'!" She muffled through her pacifier.
Miles blinks a couple of times at his little sister's response, "Re-really?"
"Huh uh!" She set her iPad aside, got up with her two little legs and reached her arms out, "UP! UP!"
Miles picks her up having to carry her, "What's wrong, boo-boo? You hungry?"
"Mmm!" She snuggles her big brother a bit more, then she spotted Judge eating her Cheetos puffs! Oh, he's gonna get it. "Cheetos! Cheetos!" She squirms with her hand tugging on her big brother's tank top.
"Oh you want some Cheetos puffs?" Miles took one to give to her.
Judge chews, "My bad, cheetos be fire with soda." He almost finished the whole bag.
"Nah, it's cool, man." Miles giggles.
Billie took the Cheetos puff and pull out her pacifier to take a bite, "Cheeto!" She pouts at Judge, "My Cheetos!"
"Billie," Miles frowns, "That's not very nice. Judge is our guest. Hey, you need a refill?" He looks at his friend.
"Sure."Judge said while eating the rest of the Cheetos bag.
"Awe," Billie gasps at her favorite snacks being gone, she pouts at her brother.
"Don't worry, boo-boo. We got another bag. Remember sharing is carrying." He had her on his hip, holding her with his left arm. Miles went over to the fridge to pull out a bottle of Cola, he twist the cap with his thumb and index finger. Billie watches her brother pour some soda in Judge's cup, "So, after Japan are you going to South Korea or Singapore?"
"Awe, man. I would love to go to Singapore, man. That place looks so fire. South Korea... hmm." Judge thought for a second before saying, "I kinda do want to go but probably later one. I'm planning to go to Germany to visit my cousins."
"No way, you got family in Germany?"
"Yup, since on my mom side is mix with Moroccan, her family is mix with African and Arab descendants. So some relatives move to Germany for education, some to France or Britain." He pop Cheetos puff in his mouth.
"Damn, I never knew that. That's pretty cool. So ya'll visit them often?"
"I use to, but my mom wants to go to visit my aunt and her family." Judge shrugs, "What about you? Aren't ya going somewhere?"
"Well... with school and work. I've been so busy. I do want to visit my grandma and family in Puerto Rico, but I'm not sure if I can. My dream is to go to Japan and see all the cool stuff there." He fantasize going to Japan for the culture and anime stuff.
"You should go. You can totally survive with 2k of dollars if you're smart enough to budget." His friend explained.
Billie chews her Cheeto puff very slowly waiting for Hobie to come. "I guess, but I don't got 2k to spend like that. I need to pay for books and stuff, you know."
"That is true, dude. You're at a Legacy school!" He said.
The two talk some more unaware of a Celestial portal opening in Miles' bedroom, they didn't hear the heavy thud of combat boots or the chains dangling against each other on a buckled belt.
The door slowly opens having to reveal a punker with a dark look on his face, his eyes narrowed as he spotted the random boy in his Sunflower's home.
Miles' felt his Spider Senses going off when he noticed an unease sense of his punker. "Hmm, Hobie?" He turns over his shoulder after he saw Judge's face fell into a frighten stare.
"Dude, who dat fuck is that?" Judge asked out loud.
Billie turns her head with a big smile on her face, "Obie! Obie!" The punker actually had a more intense punker outfit with everything being black and silver, his makeup look more intense. He painted his eyes into a black smokey bar lines, black lipstick and red contact on one right eye and an Anarchy symbol white contact on the other. He got a lot more accessories having this "Scary" look.
The Morales family got use to this style so this didn't phased them. Not even Billie was afraid, instead she happily giggles, "Obie! Obie!"
"Bae..." Miles looks over at Judge knowing he can't ask him why he's here instead he lied, "Your awake. I didn't think you would wake up."
"Hey, Sunflower." Hobie put one arm around his boyfriend's shoulder with a glaring mean mug directing at Judge. "Who's dis bloke?" His voice deep, rasps sounding a bit dangerous.
"BAE? Miles, who the heck is this?" Judge looked very confused and scared at the punker. "Weren't you dating some rocker dude? Now your into some guy looking like he's part of Metal band?"
"Judge, this is Hobie. He's just dressed different." Miles kisses his boyfriend's cheek, "Bae, this is Judge. Remember him. You met him a couple of times at parties..."
"THIS IS HOBIE? Bro look so different." And frankly, scary as fuck! If he could say the rest of his sentence.
"Not a clue." Hobie grunts being like a guard dog to his boyfriend.
Miles arched his eyebrow, knowing his partner is jealous as hell. "Bae, Judge is just a friend."
Billie pouts at her brother, "Miles and boi, Obie! Obie!" She tugs on Hobie's shirt, "Boi!" She pointed having to squint her eyes at Judge.
"Wah?" Judge saw the glares he got from the two, especially the way Billie squint her eyes at him like a cat.
Miles said, "Hold on, you two. You guys need to be nice to Judge. He's a friend from high school! Stop it." He had to scold his boyfriend a baby sister. Then apologize to his friend, "I'm so sorry, man. I didn't expect this from them."
"It's all good, man. I didn't think you were with him... I thought he was a fling then again, we rarely hang out after high school." His friend trying to ease the tension down.
"Hah, I know, everyone didn't think me and him would be together." Miles kisses his boyfriend on the cheek, again. This calms Hobie down.
Billie felt at ease with Hobie here, "Obie! Obie!"
"Yes, lass." He took her off from his Sunflower's arm to hold her.
She patted his cheek, "Hehe." Then snuggles against him being happy he's here.
Miles blink a bit surprised at his little sister, and his boyfriend gave a small chuckles, "Don't worry, lil blu. I'll always protect your brother." This made Billie calm enough to take a nap, all this tension exhausted her. So she suckled her pacifier while she fallen asleep in the punker's arm.
Judge nervously said, "Heh, so this been something..."
"Hahaha, don't worry about them. They just love me so much." Miles said with a small smile on his face.
"I can see that." Judge will never admit to Miles that he's envious having this much love.
After Judge left, Miles finally asked his man what happened. Billie finally woken up from her nap. Her big eyes still in Hobie's arms.
"Sunflower, lil Blue send me a text. Check the iPad. It's bonkers, I know, but she was worried for me. She literally thought you were cheating on me." Hobie explained.
Miles being disbelief went to get his sister's iPad, instead of freaking out he was amazed that his little sister text Hobie! "NO WAY! Billie texted you! This is crazy! She even responded back?" He scrolls seeing how his little sister did the best she could. "Wait, she thought I was cheating on you! Boo-boo!"
Billie shrugs, "A boi!"
"See. You gave made her scared, Sunflower. Never saw a bloke like that and all alone without me around. Scandalous." Hobie jokes.
"Oh hush, you were all 'grr, don't touch my Sunflower'." Miles huffs.
"I have to be scary. It's my nature." Hobie chuckled, "Besides this look was meant for a concert."
"Obie not scary. Obie good." Billie patted him.
Miles sighs, "Well, at least she has your back, bae."
"Hah, and she texted me first!" His boyfriend gave a smug smirk.
When Miles' parents came home from work, they were surprised to find out Billie knowing how to text. The three year old happily demonstrated her skills by sending them a text.
Billie: Miles & a boi! A Boi!
Rio giggles, "A boi? Does she mean Obie?"
Hobie chuckles, "Actually it's a funny story."
"Let me guess," Jeff rub his chin, "One of Miles' old friends came by to visit and Billie thought it was weird. Then she went ahead to text you?"
"Wow, that was fast?" Miles asked his dad.
"I'm good at my job." Jeff smirks.
Hobie sips his soda, "I scared him good."
"How?" Rio asked having to hold her daughter.
"My looks."
Jeff and Rio tilted their head not being afraid of the punker's style. They gotten so use to it, it felt like one of his normal clothing. "Hmph, I don't see it." Rio said.
"Maybe if you add red eyeliner underneath?" Jeff crossed his arms giving advice.
Miles giggles, "I didn't know you an expert, dad."
"Just giving some advice."
Hobie said, "I'll try that next time, pops. So, mamí Morales, what's for dinner?"
"Hmm, how about some Shrimp con Mofongo y arroz con habichuelas?" She wanted to cook something easy today.
"Habichuelas! Mamá, yo quiero arroz con Habichuelas. Por favor." Billie spoke in Spanish being so hungry for rice and beans.
"Sí, mi amor. Just hold on for a few minutes. Miles, take out the pot from the fridge."
"On it!"
Rio handed her daughter to Hobie, whiles she gets to cooking. Billie and Hobie sat watching the two. They couldn't wait for dinner.
