Season finale final numbers are in: 0.03, 0.330

Slight bump with the finale but not enough to get them past that 0.399 season average.

45% decrease in ratings from the pilot to the finale (609k to 330k). Demo is kinda all over the map but if you take their pilot demo vs finale demo (.11 to .03) - there was a 73% decrease in demo.

Huh, I completely forget it was on last night. LOL! This is another one of those shows that people noped out of pretty quick when they realized how bad it was and that it wasn't getting any better. (Here's the chart for those interested.)

Frankly, I'm more impressed by S&L's numbers. They had their second highest viewership of the season:

733K for a finale on the CW is pretty impressive, and frankly, deserves more than getting a renewal with a truncated season and a pared down cast. I mean, Gotham Knights couldn't even reach those numbers in their +7 average.

I'm looking at the episode synopsis for Gotham Knight because i heard people talking about it a while back but it feels incredibly surreal like, MC is just some guy who didn't know his adoptive dad was Batman but everyone else is legitimately a DC character? His bff is Stephanie Brown and he starts working with Duella Dent, Harper and Cullen Row. Carrie Kelly's there and the whole thing brings in the Court of Owls and Henri Ducard?? with no batboys in sight. wild.

Either way, it was cancelled after 1 season so.

Honestly it being canceled is so weird because like. Even if it's bad critically, the supernatural fandom showed up for Misha and a studio like CW cares more about viewership numbers than 'good' so you'd think they'd milk him for all he's worth.

Maybe they expected the supernatural fans to drop the show once Harvey became Two-face since he's 'not pretty anymore' but they are severely underestimating 1.) the Supernatural fandom's dedication to Misha and 2.) the idea of a character being 'ugly' stopping people from thirsting over them to hell and back

Bible-based hit TV show THE CHOSEN continues to impress audiences, keeping a spot in Amazon Prime Video’s top 10 list for over 90 days.

“On Monday, THE CHOSEN stood at No. 6 on the list of most popular series on Amazon Prime, leading such titles as No. 7 JACK RYAN, No. 8 THE BOYS, No. 9 SUITS, and No. 10 HARRY WILD,” Christian Headlines reported.

Maintaining a spot in Prime’s top 10 is “no small feat: Amazon Prime Video is the second largest streaming service in the United States, with 200 million customers, and has a larger library of titles than anyone, including Netflix,” Christian Headlines added.

THE CHOSEN is in its third season and will soon enter its fourth early next year, with three more seasons in queue after that. The show boasts over 600 million views across Amazon Prime, Netflix, Peacock and the CW network.

Movieguide® reported on why THE CHOSEN director Dallas Jenkins believes the show is a success:

“The thing that makes it different…you see Jesus laughing with his friends, you see him dancing with his friends at a wedding.  You see the disciples and even the enemies of Jesus as real human beings with lives and struggles and questions and doubts, dealing with the same issues that we’re dealing with today,” he said. When asked what about the show connects with viewers, Jenkins responded, “I think the biggest thing is…the humanity of it, I think I hear that term more than anything, it’s like ‘wow these people feel real.’”

Viewers’ interest piqued in THE CHOSEN’s first episode’s TV debut. At 520,000 views, “the first episode’s viewership was pegged as ‘a far mightier audience’ than the 200,000 viewers who viewed RIVERDALE and the 400,000 people who watched NANCY DREW. Viewership for THE CHOSEN was also considerably greater than what GOTHAM KNIGHTS (235,000) and SUPERMAN AND LOIS (174,000) drew on the CW the previous Sunday during the same time slots,” The Christian Post reported.

The show is so popular that it even held its own first-ever fan conference last weekend. The event celebrated the show and allowed visitors to meet the cast and crew.

“Hosted by the show’s creator Dallas Jenkins, this weekend’s ChosenCon affair—its formal name is the Chosen Insiders Conference 2023—will celebrate the show’s success by hosting some 3,500 attendees to its in-person festivities, along with many more virtual attendees logging on to take in its offerings from around the world,” WFAA wrote.

THE CHOSEN Season 4 is slated for an in-theater release on February 1, 2024.

PSG v. OL broke the attendance record (43,255) for a women's club match in France.

Barcelona v. Real Madrid set the attendance record (91,553) for a UWCL quarter-final.

Barcelona v. Wolfsburg set the attendance record (91,648) for a UWCL semi-final, while also breaking the ("official") world record to become the highest attended women's football match ever.

Wolfsburg broke their home attendance record against Barcelona in the semi-finals with 22,057 people in attendance.

The UWCL final between Barcelona and Lyon saw a record-setting live cumulative viewership of 3.6m globally.

Sonia Bompastor became the first person to win the UWCL as a player and as a coach.

England v. Austria had an attendance of 68,871 making it the highest attended opening match in women's Euro history.

England recorded the biggest win in Euro history against Norway (8-0).

England broke the record of most goals scored in a first half (6 goals against Norway).

England broke the record of most goals scored in the group stage (14 goals).

Beth Mead broke the record of most goals in a group stage by a single player (5 goals).

Angel City played in front of a sold-out crowd of 22,000 for its first regular season match, setting a record for highest attendance for an expansion team.

In the Portland Thorns v. Gotham FC game on July 17th, Portland led 3-0 at the 10:13 mark, the fastest from kickoff a team has scored three goals in NWSL history.

i decided to go with this! i started writing this after binging all of Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural.

basically: most of the Batfam are touched by the supernatural in some way---being mediums, psychics, etc.. Jason narrowly survived an encounter with the Joker (or maybe he didn't, but did manage to come back, as in canon. i haven't decided yet), & Tim hasn't joined the family. I heard Gotham Knights was pretty good? I know the viewership skewed the numbers because several Supernatural fans jumped all over it for Misha as Harvey and clearly they'll watch whatever, but I heard actual critics thought it was decent.

After Titans s3 we'll have:

1. Red Hood off to his own spinoff show.

2. Hawk and Dove gone.

3. Bruce, Babs and Tim in charge of Gotham (Vigilante/law enforcement).

4. Donna resurrected.

5. Rachel in charge of her powers.

6. Kory in peak Starfire and at peace with her past and present.

7. Gar able to change at will into different animals (better VFX team isn't for nothing, remember).

8. Dick resolved to be a better leader for the Titans as Nightwing. (Don't be fooled. He's not going to be Batman just yet. The point of the show is his growth is in diverging from the shadow of Batman, duh).

Bottom line is... we're edging closer and closer to the Core Four (Dick, Kory, Rachel and Gar) being an established team. It's all we've wanted to see since Season 1, and the writers aren't about to blunder like they did with season 2 in order to lose viewership again. So I wouldn't be worried. We're reaching there. Patience is key. The characters are developing.

okay yeah then it's all but confirmed that misha is talking about Gotham Knights

well, well, well goddamn well i don't know how to feel about this? hahaha like i want more Misha on my screen. I will literally take any Misha I can get but I reallyyyyyyy don't like the CW

and I'm international so i have my own ways of watching the CW without showing up on the viewership numbers so i don't ever support them

but i just don't like various things about the cw. i say this knowing misha is a grown man who doesn't need a random strangers online protection & defending of his honor or anything but the way Pedowitz treated or rather dismissed misha's role in spn really fucking irks me to no end. but even besides that, i have watched almost every single CW superhero show and while i always enjoy the first couple of seasons, they manage to butcher it down the line (often already in season 2)

and the cw is just such a shitty network ugh idk but i do find it funny that j2m stopped spn and "escaped" the cw only to seemingly all end up back there one way or another lol

also regardless of my grievance with the cw, i just don't like batman/gotham stories. not a fan of the batman movies and while i did watch several seasons of gotham, just also not that big of a fan of gotham, also not a big fan of batwoman.

although i think i read somewhere it is supposed to be set in an entirely different universe and it's the children of etc. but yeah idk we'll see

One year ago last weekend, Miss Juneteenth premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. In the 12 months and a few days since then, the film has had a wild ride: First it shifted to a digital release for a certain ongoing pandemic, then came out on Juneteenth itself (serendipitously, a release-friendly Friday) amid the most urgent, most nationally prominent movement for racial justice in recent memory.

Seven months later, star Nicole Beharie took home the Gotham Award for Best Actress, and the film itself collected four Independent Spirit Award nominations (including for Beharie) — notable accolades for a low-budget, small-scale festival indie from a first-time feature filmmaker, Channing Godfrey Peoples. Beharie, now a contender for major awards, can hardly believe the journey.

"I'm still like, did that just happen?" she tells EW a few days after her Gotham win. "This movie was a labor of love, grassroots-made, Texas local. I think we all went down there not expecting any fanfare, any awards, any acknowledgment, [not knowing] what kind of viewership we were going to get."

2020: Harley Quinn Takeover

  As the time of writing this. We are exactly one month away from the release of Birds Of Prey/ Harley Quinn the movie. The marketing for the black and red jester will officially be in full force from now on. It’s still ironic to think, and actually imagine a character who was created by the great Paul Din all the way back in 1993. When the Emmy award-winning Batman The Animated Series was still gracing the screens of fans that appealed to all ages of demographic. The jester appeared as a side character or a write-off, but fate has it has turned into one of the most popular, and influential icons of comic book media.

  Now in the early days of 2020. Harley Quinn has a successful animated series on the upcoming app of DC Universe. However many feel the platform is still finding it’s footing compared to say Netflix or Disney+. Moving on the show Harley Quinn is bloody, definitely NSFW, and only intended for viewership of mature audience status. Setting aside the preference of concern.

 The show is riddled with star-studded talent. Ranging from Kaley Cuoco from Big Bang Theory as Penny, and even Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho. 

 Even JB Smoove from Curb Your Enthusiasm as Leon. Now on this property plays one of Poison Ivy’s plants named Frank. He is sarcastic, but also able to toy and tease ivy. The interaction between the two is quite genius writing.

 There is so much to say about the cast. Alan Tudyk is a legend to be able to play as Joker with his sardonic humor, and his emotions of hatred and jealousy towards Harley. Then being able to switch into Clayface, and spin a different tone from the Clown Prince of Crime.

 The presence of the Bat still looms in Gotham with Diedrich Bader once again taking up the cowl of the Dark Knight. From his tenure on Batman Brave And The Bold. Bader still brings the same charisma of the part, and actually gives a breath of comedy due to the wacky nature of the series.

 Also can’t forget Ivy is voiced by Lake Bell, and nails everything about the character. Definite MVP for the majority of the season so far.

 Many will ask how is the dynamic between Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. The seeds for there comic accurate relationship have definitely been planted, but at the same time, Ivy is in more of a sister role. In the show, Harley’s plot thread is that she just broke up with the Joker. Only due to Ivy stepping in and telling her to see past the guilt of stock holm syndrome. 

 Another thing to realize, Harley is trying to find Independence, and the world she inhabits is one that doesn’t take her seriously because she was a henchman or let alone female. Quinn eventually does and finds a crew of people like her. Many, who are forgotten from the world due to their appearance or moral actions. Then, Of course, there are zany side adventures, but they all loop around to the commentary of realizing how depressing the world of DC comics really is. 

 The Harley Quinn show brings a lot of that to light. Joker is abusive and treats Harley as a trophy. However, In reality, Joker doesn’t care about Harley. He only cares about his battle with Batman. Essentially the yin to his yang. 

 There is so much that this property reveals, and of course, there are tons of Easter eggs for eagle-eyed DC fans. However maybe we shouldn’t notice the colorful costumes, but the emotional state that these fictional characters inhabit through the actors bringing them to life.

 See the thing I started to realize is that every episode of this freshman season has a purpose or goal of sorts. The answer is to understand a moral or fact about life

 Just like Birds Of Prey with the title of the film being Emancipation. Harley is seeking to be her own woman. She longs to identity as her own self. Not just someone seeking refuge and acclaim as Joker’s punching bag. Huntress is looking to atone for her sins, and Black Canary is really kept in the shadows with a lot being kept under wraps.

 At this period of time, I can only guess and predict. However, one thing I can state and bring to light is that the DCEU is creatively groundbreaking due to the ingenuity of aesthetic. I truly feel that DC has found a way to compete with the mouse. The key is doing films that have there own identity, and direction from the mind of visionary directors. Todd Philips opened the door with Joker. Now the blueprint lies on the table let’s see what Cathy Yan does with Birds of Prey releasing Feb 7th this year.

 Also, remember if you want to see Harley Quinn take deep shade at the DC Universe while also revealing many hidden layers of ethos. Tune in every Friday on The DC Universe app.
