✬Evie’s Relationship With NMIXX✬

Note: Evie calls NMIXX her babies and she adores all the members. She may not be super close to the younger girls but the love she has for them is very obvious anytime she is near them. Both Stay and NSWER joke that Evie is NMIXX’s mother. They will not be as detailed as the other groups but if you guys want I can update it in a couple weeks. In all honesty I'm still learning about NMIXX that's why they aren't as detailed but I love these girls sm so I had to include them now.

Evie x Haewon

Haewon goes to Evie for advice a lot.

Evie enjoys hugging and playing with Haewon’s hair when they are able to see each other in person.

Evie calls Haewon “pumpkin” and “honey bear” a lot and prefers those nicknames for the younger girl.

Haewon has proudly admitted that Evie is her favorite stray kids member.

Evie x Lily

Sullyoon enjoys when Lily and Evie have sleepovers because she gets to see Evie as Evie makes sure to visit with all of the girls before hanging out with Lily.

Sullyoon enjoys hugging and clinging to Evie whenever she is around.

Evie x BAE

Jiwoo has made perfume for Evie before, and Evie wears it on stage a lot.

Evie and Jiwoo are extremely close.

Jiwoo is the member that Evie is second closest to.

Jiwoo always takes whatever good advice Evie gives her and calls Evie her older sister.

Evie x Kyujin

When Kyujin has any problems she has a habit of going to Evie first to help figure out how she should go about solving them.

Twst Characters x K-pop Songs Headcannon

This is a headcannon thought because of my K-pop loving ass... I went serious mode and thought about songs lyrical meaning for the songs for each character. And also did complete Dorm Themes which are mostly based on song vibes. I'd appreciate thoughts in the comments \(￣︶￣*\))

Dorm Theme: Dice - NMIXX This is bc of the songs change up, when I first heard this song I thought it was strange but overtime I like this song now and I want to say that the change is both strange yet ordered like the Heartslabyul dorm and the overall aesthetic of the MV just fit.

Crown was because of the meaning of the song basically being to learning to love yourself. Also when it initially came out I heard that the song was about being a depressed college student. Why did I think Riddle was a depressed college student with issues from his strict ass mother and has anger issues...

EXO have quite the discography of ballads and soft chill songs. If Trey wasn't tone deaf and could sing, I'd imagine him singing the soft chill songs. Lyrically its a song about feelings of constantly in love, I know this ain't entirely related to Trey but yeah.. Who am I kidding Trey would honestly be real embarrassed or shy to sing this type of song to anyone even his family...

I had other contenders for Cater though he was the hardest choice of the 5. I settled on Seventeen's Oh My! bc of its MV just primarily being the members in a pillow fort of sorts, I just picture Cater doing the same. Honestly though I think a different song would be better but I need suggestions...

Okay! So! This song is basically 'the song is about how our connection will go further in the promised future so that's why it's called Future Perfect' - Elite Daily. This relates to Deuce in a sense of wanting to change and look towards his future from his past. Also him and Ace have an Enhypen song bc of their braincell being connected...

Tamed Dashed actually 'depicts the vivid dilemma of the seven boys unable to decide which path to pursue between the paradoxical contradictions and conflict of their desire' - Elite Daily. I did not think of this meaning, I just chose an Enhypen song that sounded playful and energetic. Even though Ace is more mischievous, this still suits himself in terms of the instrumental. Honeslty Blessed-Cursed was an option but I thought Tamed-Dashed was better...

Dorm Theme: Guerrilla - ATEEZ Guerrilla is literally about taking out the government, in reference to Scar (in some way). Even though the aesthetic isn't even close to the looks of the dorm or even sound, the energy and the meaning of the song is my reason.

In reference to the Halloween Event of Savanaclaw having a Pirate theme. In lyrical meaning, its from what can see and understand its about their lore throughout their albums and their 2 universes. I chose this song bc of the title but also from the intensity of the instrumental. Though I probably would change it to something else though I'm not sure yet...

This is a favourite song of mine. It was either Bomb Bomb or this by Kard, but with Dumb Litty its a hard hitting song with it expressing such confidence. Forgot what kind of confidence level Ruggie has, but I just enjoy the song so sue me. I recommend listening to the song if you've never heard it!

Follow is a song about reuniting with someone you lost. Jacka boy here is given a song that is quite an intense sound but has a heartfelt meaning. And Jack is a sweet tsundere boy! Another song would be Find You by Monsta X but its a ballad song and not the sound I want for Jack...

Dorm Theme: Cry For Me - TWICE Cry for Me is from what I understand a wish of the speaker wanting their love interest to display some emotion, hence 'Cry for Me.' Honestly, something about this song just speaks to me about Octavinelle but I can't say bc yeah I also don't know...

Now our capitalistic octopus boy has Maria, which is such an iconic song. The meaning is basically urging self-love and ignoring haters and also an expression of acceptance and confidence in one's self. I'm basically saying to him to have more confidence. Also the feeling of the song just somehow suits him personally...

Light a Flame is a jazz sexy kind of song, this just suits Jade with his soft spoken self. Also this song is underrated in my opinion. Lyrically speaking its a sensual song. I couldn't find many explanations for the lyrics and it takes too long for me to process the lyrical information...

ZOO was chosen bc of the somewhat chaotic yet organized sound and its hype ass. Also the performance is sooooooo HYPE!! There is a reason why it was trending when it came out. Additionally a rap line of NCT U ft Giselle is just amazing to me...

Scarabia

Dorm Theme: Charmer - Stray Kids This song actually gives me some kind of Arabic vibes bc of its instrumental. Also the lyrics reference snake charming, the name is quite obvious.

•°. *࿐ Kalim Al-Asim: ╰┈➤ Better than Gold - NCT Dream

From personally reading the lyrics, I've concluded that its saying how this moment of fun you experience is is better than gold and money. I think if Kalim wasn't rich, he'd just enjoy life as its given to him. And the song just sounds really cheerful like himself. I do wonder what Kalim would be like if he wasn't rich...

•°. *࿐ Jamil Viper: ╰┈➤ Venom - Stray Kids

If I remember correctly, Venom is about how they should escape the spiderweb but don't want to. Simplified the song means 'your charms trapped me in a spiderweb'. I know Jamil has nothing to do with spiders (bc he hates them and bugs) but I thought about venom through snake venom. I think in a dark manner, Jamil is trapped in a web and wants to escape but can't though through other reasons. The song sounds eerie and the MV also applies to this...

Pomefiore

Dorm Theme: Hip - Mamamoo The iconic song Hip means to value yourself and live confidently rather than caring about what others say. If this somehow doesn't say Pomefiore then IDK what else then...

For starters, Key from Shinee has to be put into Pomefiore purely from his fashion and talent alone. Gasoline is 'express the overflowing confidence and aspirations that allows a person to go straight forward in an unrelenting manner, just like how gasoline spreads the fire.' - Allkpop. Not to mention the outfits Key wears in the MV I can see Vil somehow pulling off as well. The overflowing confidence just says it all for me...

Love Dive is about having the courage to dive into a relationship with another, with also the concept of the Greek legend of Narcissus. I don't think Rook is narcissistic at all, but its hard to explain my feeling of it suiting Rook for some reason. I need a better reason.....

Promise is like promise coming from ATEEZ that they'll be there by our side and no one can take us down. Epel has an ATEEZ song that is a mixture of a ballad and a hype song even though they are mainly known for their hype beast songs. A combination of what Vil expects from Epel and what he wants to be like. Also referencing how Savanaclaw has an ATEEZ song and that's the dorm Epel wanted to be in...

Ignihyde

Dorm Theme: Black Mirror - ONEUS This song is basically about addiction to screen entertainment/your phone. I feel like I'm calling out myself and probably others by saying this...

So, Ballroom Extravaganza is a song that depicts an apocalypse happening, however, ppls are just dancing and ignoring the state of the world. For Idia, the entire vibe of the song I think suits him with his anti-social personality and wanting to not socialise with others. I think other songs suit Idia but I've never seen ppls give him a DPR IAN song...

Ortho our little bby! He gets Life is Still Going On, this song I think is like a way to relieve your worries. I imagine this is what Ortho kind of does to Idia, he does whatever Idia wants to make him comfortable and even attending his classes for him and socialising for him. Just don't give this bby TOUCH by NCT 127, if you're a Cezennie then you know...

Dorm Theme: Oh My God - (G)-IDLE I honestly just chose this song bc of the dark themes and imagery in the MV and the sound. In terms of meaning, I read online how Soyeon (a member) has said to interpret the song however we see fit.

I had a dilemma for choosing between three Baekhyun songs for Malleus. But I went with Bambi bc of the meaning behind it, in Korean Bambi translates to Night Rain but can be interpreted into the Disney character which represents as fragile and cute. The entire song just fits Malleus. Pls listen to it.......

Dreamcatcher themselves suit Lilia with his electric guitar loving-self. Odd Eye in particular is about the group wanting to find a utopia but can't bc it doesn't exist anymore and how the odd eye (reality) helps them realize this. It honestly sounds strange like this but oddly suits Lilia in terms of its sound. Its hard for me to explain this as I don't listen to this song often...

This song is basically about the members connecting through dreams and facing new dreams in dreams. A lot of dreaming. The motif of dreaming and sleep together relates back to Silver with him always sleeping. Additionally, the instrumental has a certain melodic sound for its melody that plays throughout the song. I dunno why I'm mentioning it I just thought it was interesting relating it back to Silver....

•°. *࿐ Sebek Zigvolt: ╰┈➤ Thunderous - Stray Kids

Someone actually choose this song already for Sebek and I agree. Thunderous is both meaning to be as powerful as thunder against haters but also additionally utilizing their thunderous music to clap back. We already know about Sebek's loud voice, which he seems to be proud of, so reason for this chosen song! A lot of 'noise' music could suit Sebek as well for the same meaning...

Authors note: This took my a while to write, and a lot of courage to post it! hope everyone loves it as much as I loved writing it! Jay is my number one bias in Enhypen. Was drawn to him from the very first song I listened to by them (Drunk-Dazed). Please feel free to like and repost if you like it!!

You lived in Korea your whole life, and you currently worked as a stylist for Enhypen. In fact, you were seen as their best one. You had always loved doing makeup and hair ever since you were a little girl. Your mother had supported this hobby of yours, and put time and money into helping you get better at makeup. You had gotten so good that by your high school year big-name companies wanted you to come do the makeup of their models and K-pop artists.

This was a dream come true for you. You had worked with BLACKPINK, Itzy, Nmixx, Mamamoo, (G)I-DLE, and Girls Generations with female groups. You have also done the makeup and hair for a few male groups, such as Stray Kids, BTS, Ateez, Tomorrow x Together, and Seventeen. You wouldn't say you have a favorite, but you got along best with Stray Kids, your personality being similar. You were a social butterfly when you got to know someone, but like Han, you could also be very anti-social.

A few years ago Hybe Corporation hired you. They had seen all of the work you did with other models and idols. You worked in Korea, wanting to stay close to home, but on rare occasions, you would fly out to help with makeup for shoots and concerts. Other companies would pay you a lot of money just to do the makeup for some of their idols. But now that you worked with Hybe, companies would often try to get you to work for them by paying you more money. You had declined every time. Money did not matter to you because Hybe was considerate that your mother was now struggling with finances. After all, she had recently gotten sick, and if you had ever needed to have a break from work, they would gladly let you have it. Memories from several years ago would come back to you. This one just so happened to be your first time meeting Jay.

You were currently flying to Seattle, Washington. You got a last-minute call from Hybe Corporation asking you to fly to Seattle because several of their stylists had called out sick and they couldn’t get anyone else to fill in for them. So here you were about forty-five minutes left in your ten-and-a-half-hour flight. Hybe had paid for your plane ticket giving you first class so that you could sleep well on the plane. You had slept almost the entire time. You had this well-worked plan so that you would not have jet lag when you got to a new place. You would do an all-nighter the day before so that when you were on the plane, you would be able to sleep and be well-rested for when you landed. This worked well because you would take the day planes and when you would arrive at your destination, it would be morning. You spent these forty-five minutes researching the group you would be doing. They were known as ENHYPEN. You went to Spotify and started to shuffle their music. The first song that came on was a song called Drunk-Dazed, and you liked it. As you listened to their music, you did some research on the members. There was no clear pattern you were following, you just looked up different members trying to find out more about them.

First was Jungwon, he was the leader of ENHYPEN. He was born on February ninth, 2004, his height was about 179cm (5’9”). From what you read, he had trained for roughly a year and four months, he has a pet dog named Maeumi from the dog in the drama Heart is. He is a former trainee for SM Entertainment and BigHit Entertainment. His favorite colors are blue and orange.

Next was Heesung, he was the center for ENHYPEN. He was born on October 15th, 2001 making him a Libra. His height was 183cm (6’0”). Heesung trained for three years and one month. He is the only one with a solo dorm, he got it because he won a game of rock, paper, scissors between all of the members. You laughed quietly to yourself, ‘he must be living the life then. Not having to share a dorm and all. But I bet it gets lonely after a while,’ you thought. You continued scrolling trying to see if there was any more good information about him. Heesung is also a former BigHit Entertainment trainee. You wondered if Heesung and Jungwon had met there. He is also close to the members of Tomorrow x Together. His favorite colors are purple and ivory. He is in a friend group called ee-z with I.N from Stray Kids, Beomgyu from TxT, and Lim Jimin from Just B. His motto is “Let’s live diligently as life passes by”.

You scrolled down a little and saw a very good-looking male looking back at you from the picture on the screen. Your cheeks flushed pink, you looked at his name, Jay Park. He was born in the United States on April 20th, 2002. He was exactly 180 cm (5’11”). His training period lasted two years and eleven months. You learned that he knows a little bit of Japanese, and had learned it from watching anime. Jay trained at LP Dance Academy before joining BigHit. His favorite color is purple. His role model is Kai from EXO. He says he enjoys cooking and eating delicious foods and when he was young, he dreamed of becoming a chef. You giggled quietly, remembering when you once had the idea of becoming a chef. Being able to make people smile with your food. But you are glad you chose this path. It pays well, and you are able to meet so many different people. You scrolled a bit more to see his motto: “Live your life the way you were born”.

Just as you were about to scroll to the next member you felt the plane touch ground. You jumped in your seat, the rough landing making you grip the armrests of the seat of the plane. After about five minutes you made your way off of the plane, grabbing your carry-on bag on the way in the overhead carrier. After you were off the plane you made your way to the luggage pickup area. You had to pack clothes in your carry-on and put things like makeup, brushes, blow dryers, and many other things in the other bag. It was much bigger because it also carried one of your toiletries and your stylist uniform your mother had made for you a few years ago.

Finally, you reached the luggage pickup area, and that's where you saw three males waiting with your suitcase. You started to freak out. Your heart was pounding away from inside your chest so much so that you thought it would burst out. You walked cautiously over to the three males.

“Hello, I think you have my bag,” you said politely. They turned to look at you, “You are miss y/n?” a male in a black suit asked. You nodded, “yes, I am she. I’m sorry but I do not have time to fool around, I have places to be. I still have to check into my hotel. And I have a very early morning tomorrow”

“Oh!! You're really y/n?! Like no joke?” one asked, surprised. Once again you nodded. “Yes, as I said, now please,” you went to grab your suitcase's handle, “give me my suitcase please.”

“Did Jungwon not tell her that we were going to pick her up?” a tall male with dark blue hair asked the boy next to him. You paused, brows furrowing. “What? Did you say Jungwon?” He turned to you, his eyes wrinkled into little crescent moons. He was smiling, even if you couldn't see it due to the mask he was wearing, it was still obvious. “Yup, that's our leader,” he replied as if it was obvious. You paused. ‘Leader? Leader…oh my god!!!’ “Oh my god! Your ENH-” a hand quickly covered your mouth. “You can't just go throwing it around like that, we were barely able to sneak in here.” The male with black hair hushed you.

Your eyes widened and you nodded. He took his hand off of your mouth slowly. When you didn’t say anything he let out the breath he was holding. “Alright, we got your stuff, the car is right out front. You're going to be staying at the same hotel as us. Jungwon already had the staff get you a room.” the boy with dark blue hair said. “Alright, that sounds great,” you smiled. “I can’t wait to work with you guys!” The two boys’ eyes crinkled into crescent moons as they smiled down at you, “Yeah, we can’t either miss y/n,” The one with black hair said.

You got into the car and made your way to the hotel. Once there you went to your room which was on the 5th floor. You saw that the boy with dark blue hair was following you. You paused and looked back at him, “Are you obsessed with me already?” you joked.

He laughed, his smile was so cute, he had taken off his mask once he saw the hall was clear, “I’m walking to my room,” he replied, “It looks like we are right next to each other.” He said as he stopped at his room. ‘529’ it read. You looked at the room next to him, it showed ‘530’ in gold wavy writing. You took the key card out, unlocking the door. Before stepping in, you looked at the boy next to you. “Do you mind telling me your name?” You asked, and an embarrassed laugh escaped you. He laughed lightly, “sure, it’s Jay,” he smiled.

You paused. ‘Jay… like Jay Jay?! y/n that’s him!! OH MY GOD, THAT’S HIM!!! HOLY CRAP! Oh my god, you're going to be right next to the hottest guy you have ever seen!!’ your mind and heart started going a hundred kilometers a second. Jay noticed how you paused and walked a few steps so that he was right in front of you. He bent down so he was at eye level with you. “You alright y/n?” he said, concern evident in his voice.

You quickly snapped out of it, “Y-yeah, I’m g-” you stopped mid-sentence as your brain registered how close he was to you. Your cheeks and ears going as red as Chan’s hair had been. Jay laughed as he stood back up to his full height. “You know, you're pretty cute,” and with that, he unlocked his room and went in.

You stood there for a few seconds before you went into your room, cheeks and ears still beet red. Closing the door, you took a deep breath and took your shoes off. Walking over to the bed you flopped yourself down face-first, landing on the pillows. The embarrassment of what just happened flooding through your veins.

This was almost three years ago, you and Jay had gotten together and had been dating for a year. ENHYPEN had a concert in LA soon and so you were supposed to fly there two days before the concert. Several members of ENHYPEN were already there and exploring the city. This gave you and Jay some alone time together.

It was about 8 O'clock in the morning, you were snuggled up in your bed with Jay laying next to you, his arms wrapped around your smaller frame. His bare chest up against your back was warm, and since it was getting colder outside, it made you snuggle up against him more. The sun was peeking out from behind the curtains, slowly waking you up from your deep sleep.

You groggily opened your eyes, blinking the sleep out of them before turning around in your boyfriend's arms. You looked up at him. He looked so calm and at peace when he was asleep. You pecked his lips before burying your head in his chest.

“Good morning my Star,” a groggy voice quietly whispered, before you felt a light kiss placed on the crown of your head. “Morning my love,” you smiled, looking up at your boyfriend.

You could tell he was tired. You could hear it in his voice, as well as see it in his beautiful dark brown eyes. You leaned up to peck his lips, but he met you halfway, shocking you. The kiss was meant to be quick, but Jay placed his hand on the back of your head, deepening the kiss. You closed your eyes leaning into his, your hands placed on his strong chest. When you pulled away, you both looked at one another, you smiled, a small laugh escaping you as well as you shook your head, burying it back into his chest.

Jay laughed, and you felt his chest vibrate from under your hands. “I can’t help it,” he pouted, “you're just too hot for your own good,” You laughed lightly, looking up at him again. “Well st-” You were interrupted by his lips meeting yours once again, his hand already on the back of your head. You laughed against his lips before he pulled away, giving you one last quick peck before pulling you into his chest. You inhaled his scent, he smelled good, the smell of his body wash hitting your nose, making you feel calm. It made you drowsy, and you slowly fell back into a light sleep. The lack of sleep from your activities from the previous night still catching up to you. Jay looked down at you, a soft smile making its way to his face. He wanted to go ahead and get up because he had planned a great day for the two of you, starting off with a homemade breakfast which he was supposed to be starting right now. But he couldn't bring himself to wake you once more, so instead, he pulled you closer to him - if that was even possible - his chin resting on the crown of your head. “I’ll wake you in a few minutes Love, until then, sleep well,” he said, getting ready to get up. But instead of you letting him, you only held onto him tighter. “Stay with me, please,” you grumbled sleepily. Jay smiled down at you before cuddling back up next to you. “Of course cupcake,”

Several years later

You could not have been happier than you were right now. You and Jay have continued to date, things have been going smoothly. So smoothly that Jay had popped the question to you after his concert in LA, telling you he wanted to be with you for the rest of his life, even if he was young, he still knew that he wanted to be with you for the rest of his life. And of course you said yes. The ring was beautiful. There was a bright shining diamond, on the left side, small dark blue gems ran down the side of the band, it was representing your birthstone, Sapphire. On the right side clear blue gems ran down the other side of the band, before the two gemstones met and blended together in a beautiful sky blue color. About ten months later, you both got married. You had invited BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, Ateez, Seventeen, and a couple more groups that you had done makeup for in the past. The wedding was beautiful, and Enhypen ended up singing a love song Jay had written for you. He had written the whole thing, for you on the day of your wedding.

Once more, you both lay in bed together under the covers of the bed shielding you from the bitter cold of the room. Jay stirred when he heard the door leading to your bedroom creek open quietly. His eyes blinked open slowly. He squinted, the light from the sun affecting his visibility. Once his eyes adjusted, he saw your beautiful little girl standing at the door. She looked exactly like him, but she had your mind. Pure, sweet, comforting, and warm. Jay smiled at her, she smiled back.

Your daughter was getting ready to turn 6 years old. When Jay held her for the first time he was so nervous, it was honestly adorable. You had shown him how to properly hold your little girl, and he followed your instructions perfectly. The soft look on Jay’s face was so rare to see, but it was a sight that only you and a few of his members were able to get a true look at.

Your daughter tiptoed into the room, Jay lifting the covers for her to crawl in between him and you. She immediately snuggled up against your back, the smile on Jay’s face resembled that of the one the first time he held your daughter, soft, kind, and without a care in the world except for what was right in front of him, his two girls.

You felt a small presence behind you, so without opening your eyes, you carefully turned around in the bed, facing your, now, sleeping daughter. You peaked an eye open, and gave her a kiss on the crown of her head. Then you looked at Jay, who still had that fond smile on his face as he looked at the two of you. You motioned with your hand for him to lay down again, and he did. He wrapped both of his arms around you and your little girl. Before he drifted back to sleep, he placed a kiss on top of your daughter's head, as well as yours. A soft hum coming from you as you held onto your daughter and snuggled into her and Jay even more before drifting back to your dreamless sleep.

September 2022 Debut/Comeback Ranking

11. Sugar Rush- Kep1er

Yet again a Universe single is disappointing. Nothing really stood out and I found it just kinda boring. I don’t think I’ll ever go to listen to it.

10. Brand New- Xiumin

I really want to like Exo’s solo work but I just don’t like any of it. I honestly can’t remember any of this song and I find myself wishing I was listening to anything else while listening to it.

9. Rose- mimiirose

I was really looking forward to this debut because I like Jia on Girls Planet but this song just isn’t my cup of tea. I’ll tune in to their first comeback when that happens but I don’t know if I’ll stick around past that.

8. Wing Wing- Kep1er

It’s unfortunate for Kep1er to be so low on my list after such a great first half of the year but their Japanese debut just didn’t live up to their first two singles. I just found the chorus grating. Daisy was a super good b side though!

7. Limbo- Jun

I think my problem with this song is that the concept and the vibes of the song seem to be going for two different kinds of sexy. The concept seems so much edgier than the song does and that mismatch makes the song feel weird for me. The song is good otherwise and Jun pulls off the concept well, I just don’t think they should go together.

6. Same Scent- Oneus

This song feels kinda generic to me, very different from many of their previous songs. It just didn’t really capture me.

5. 2 Baddies- NCT127

This song hasn’t fully grown on me yet but I won’t be surprised if it does. After all, it happened with Sticker. It definitely has its high points but it’s not all clicking for me yet.

4. Gratata- Lapillus

A solid comeback and one that I think will be more popular with more people! For me though, I liked Hit Ya a lot more. I still play it on repeat, whereas I’ve only listened to Gratata a couple times and I’m already kinda tired of it. I’m definitely looking forward to their next comeback.

3. Dice- Nmixx

Similar to Gratata and Hit Ya, I definitely prefer O.O to Dice, but unlike Gratata I still love Dice a lot. I think it’s a great follow up and super fun.

2. Fire- EXID

The girls are back! They’re my favorite girl group and I’m so excited to hear another album from them. Fire was super fun and they all did so well! The b sides are really fun too.

1. Shut Down- Blackpink

I was worried about how this album would turn out because I was not and still am not a fan of Pink Venom. I was pleasantly surprised because I absolutely love Shut Down and I think this is their best album yet.

ah okay, um, this is gonna be a long one😅

the thing about me is that i’ve always been a casual listener of music in any genre (with the exception of one direction when i was 11), so a lot of these groups i don’t really know a lot about or follow, i just like some songs from them.

i grew up with mamamoo. they were my first introduction to k-pop. i’ve been listening to their songs since debut, and fell in love their vocals. so sad that they aren’t really together anymore😞

actually, the first k-rock band i ever heard music for was rolling quartz, surprisingly since they’re not that famous. but just a casual listener for them.

because of rq i went digging to find other rock bands and found xdinary heroes. my ult group. love these boys so so much.

through xdh i discovered day 6. didn’t know much about k-rock until recently. still a casual listener though.

p1harmony. my friend and i actually started out watching their content first and then started listening to their music after. absolutely hilarious and so fucking talented.

i’m starting to get into stray kids. i haven’t listened to all their music, but i’ve really liked what i heard so far.

i like some songs from stayc, g-idle, aespa, nmixx, and blackpink.

That’s very fair! Most people I know are also casual listeners of music, but I physically cannot be like that if I like more than two or three songs from the same artist or group. I blame my autism and ADHD for that, I’m very obsessive when it comes to K-Pop (it’s my hyperfixation or special interest, whatever you call it). One Direction was my entire life when I was around that age, too! 😭 And then during Covid I fell back into their rabbit hole for their 10-Year Anniversary back when everyone was convinced they were gonna get back together 💀 but I’m out now, thank goodness!

can we comment on sheesh? i saw a lot of people saying that 'it sounded so differnet from blackpink' but... am i the only one that listens the same structure, same vocal tone?

those poor girls were set up from day one they were marketed as the next blackpink, the next jennie, the next lisa and it makes me feel so bad for those girls omg

anyone saying otherwise to their song not being the same formula is lying 😭 please tell me your further thoughts

so to be honest i quite like sheesh. like, i like it more than shut down. i have a long history with blackpink because i followed them since they debuted and i believed they were going to change the industry since day 1, and i'm so glad they did! because now when there's a successful debut in numbers everyone says "rookie monsters", but: rookie monsters are not monsters because of the numbers the song makes, but because of how they CARRY themselves. it's so difficult for me to conceive any other rookie monsters aside from blackpink, gidle and itzy. they were so ROUNDED, especially blackpink.

but: blackpink's formula was repetitive. the debut (the first ep, all of it) was INCREDIBLE. i loved AIIYL too, because they were showing the "pink" concept, and while i thought that was a very RV thing to do, i loved that their concept felt cohesive. BUT!!!!! they lost their sense after that :( they exploded because it was 2017 and all of the kpop groups were exploding (BTS among them, but also EXO, RV... they were all pretty populara before but 2017 was the breaking point) and blackpink had a lot to offer to the west. not only their songs were more catered to them but you also had english speakers... so after 2017 i believe their songs started to sound exactly the same, the singles and also the leading singles. i like the albums, but the bsides sound generic, even though the girls can sing and have pretty voices and ofc the stage power.

that's where sheesh comes into play: it sounds like a mix of how you like that + shut down. if they purposefully wanted to sound like blackpink, i think they should have gone to the old blackpink, when it sounded like a novelty rather than the copy of their own songs. in my opinion, pink venom repeated the formula but did a good job, while shut down wanted to do something new but didn't sound harmonious at all.

sheesh repeats all of the blackpink schemes without taking into consideration that the girls are GREAT VOCALISTS!: we start with the rap of two rappers, then we stop the music and enter the pre-chorus with a kind of overpower from main vocalist, now the chorus with a different rhythm than the other sections, we repeat all that, the bridge for the vocals, the rap for the bridge, music stops, dance break + repetitive part to finish. like, if you listen to it without looking at the MV, you can easily guess where "rosé would enter", where "jisoo would sing", who of them raps like "lisa".

what angers me the most is that babymonster are far better vocalists than blackpink (no hate). they don't have weak vocals or nasal forced tones, they can get to higher notes just like a jyp singer can, they rap consistently and all of them are good at rapping, yet they make them rap very yg style (but not old yg style? like julie from kiss of life raps the old yg style, chiquita raps the lisa style). it feels like a loss of potential because blackpink's songs were catered to them, to their formula and their vocals and the role they all played. i think yg doesn't know how to do anything else than that, but still i think they wanted to create the new "blackpink" with 7 talented girls who have more in common with nmixx, gidle, fromis, omg or gfriend, vocally speaking, than with blackpink.

it's only setting them up for hate. as a twice fan, you cannot criticize nmixx for being a copy of twice. nor aespa for red velvet or even red velvet for fx. they are all different. i think all the world has understood by now that there can't be a second blackpink, except for yg!

2. spectrum (calvin harris remix) by florence and the machine. now listen...im the biggest florence fan, she is my all time favorite artist and as a result her songs are always present in my favorites list. every couple of months i get obsessed with a new song by her like it's the first time I've heard it and this month it's this one. hearing a beloved song with a different color added to it is such a treat,im obsessed!!

3. run for roses by nmixx. this is simply their best song, you can argue with the back of my head! it's so atmospheric and cinematic and still has that signature nmixx switcheroo in the pre chorus but this time it's some kind of irish jig melody. how fun!

4. bratitude by bratz. im actually not going to explain anything, you either get or you don't 🫰

5. water by tyla. no one is save from the allure of tyla and that is just the truth. this is giving me a perfect soundtrack to daydream about sun and warmth and sand between my toes. im pretending im not freezing my ass off in negative temperatures and tyla helps me along the way!

because i watched too many kpop music videos and dance practices and now youtube thinks i want to know about lee know's cats

i think a lot more people would hate kpop less if the fans weren't generally a bit less insane.

a lot of the music is actually rather good, but if you want to watch the music videos then youtube will forcibly send you down a spiral of fan edits and other off putting frightening things. the music videos are good, though, and the dance practices.

people do tend to be put off by the fans because even the average fan is a LOT. quite a few of them treat being a [insert group] stan like it's a sport, but not in the sense that they're a highly invested LA lakers fan. being a kpop stan seems to be a sport in the sense that the stan is the player. streaming, voting, spamming hate comments, that is the sport, although i don't think you can actually win.

kpop stans are frighteningly dedicated, i feel like they could probably take down and reform an entire government if they felt like it. although there is a lot of infighting between fans of different groups. that being said if they teamed up they could do quite a bit. i stand by the fact that if they unified they could easily overthrow the australian government. not the USA government but definitely the australian government.

did you know the greater kpop fandom has a word for people who stan multiple groups? the fact that there are so many people who are aggressively fans of one group that they need a word for people who like multiple groups is astounding (and furthers my point that being a kpop stan is a sport). MULTISTANS. as in stans of multiple groups. aka people who listen to music like a normal person.

i do feel like another turn off for people who might like some of the music is the industry itself, which is deeply fucked up. the training is dreadful, the culture is cruel and the idol-fan stuff is just off putting. (oshi no ko does a great job at showing this and its so funny to me that all these kpop idols were doing dance challenges to the oshi no ko theme song is so funny cause like... that song was written from the perspective of an idol. like you. who gets fucking stabbed by a fan. which is a thing that has happened in real life.)

ooh you know what else might push people away? the SHIPPING. those are REAL PEOPLE. yeah they could be dating but you realise they're probably a) acting a fake/exaggerated dynamic BECAUSE the shipping draws views and b) probably only like that on camera. idols are pretty much acting when on camera or in public. they are playing a character that is palatable, likeable and appealing to the general public. some of them might be more like western celebrities and be more like themselves on camera (generally the idols who were born/raised/spent at least 5 years of their childhood in the USA/canada/australia/new zealand usually) but they're still acting. they've done a fair bit of media training. when they're on camera they aren't people. they're idols, celebrities, characters, personas. BUT THE SHIPPING. fuck i hate the shipping. sometimes the idols might have a good friendship and then they'll stop interacting because of the shipping. it makes them uncomfortable sometimes! probably generally, it makes them at least mildly uncomfortable. and the odds are, they probably aren't dating. there is like a 1 in 1000 chance that two idols from the same group are dating, in that 0.1%, there's a like 1 in 10000 chance that they'd ever go public with it. AND STOP THEORIZING ABOUT REAL PEOPLE'S SEXUALITIES! it's invasive, it's gross, it's rude and it does absolutely nothing good.

another thing that might turn people off music they could like is the generally poor vocals. there are very few kpop vocalists (not korean vocalists, just kpop idol vocalists) that are on par with western singers. solar (mamamoo), lily and haewon (nmixx), wendy (red velvet) and belle (kiss of life) are the few i consider to be as good as your average western vocalist. lots of idols generally mediocre vocals are overhyped because, usually, they have good control over their higher vocal range (cough cough han from stray kids). the thing is, lots of the idols in this category could easily be good vocalists with more formal training! THE IDOLS DON'T GET ENOUGH VOCAL TRAINING BECAUSE THE INDUSTRY VALUES LOOKS OVER SKILLS!

the industry is basically: looks > dance > personality > sense of rhythm > vocals > rap > actual skills pertaining to creating music and performance i.e writing, producing, composing, choreography, etc (don't yell at me ik there are self producing groups and those are usually my favourites but my point still stands)

if you read all of this, i do highly recommend watching some music videos and dance practices because they are honestly phenomenal. the editing in the MV's is top tier and the dances are usually just so fun to watch.

txt is cool, I'm not a fan but I feel like their concept changed alot from happy to emo, and they slay in all concepts. Like alot of their songs have like gloomy meanings but such happy instumentals. they're rly talented tho! For nwjns, mixed opinionsss, like they're great and everything but first of hyein is 14 like she's too young. I AM NOT HATING ON HER LIKE I COULD NEVER SHE TALENTED AFF. I think the reason alot of people like them is cause they have a young vibe like they're the most genz group ever lol. I listen to them alot tho and nmixx. I think I listen to Gidle too much lol.

oh no i get the nwjns thing i call min heejin wretched evil every chance i get...txt debuted around the time the whole "i wanna be me" kind of concept was starting to pick up so i wasn't surprised that their music turned emotional when cysm dropped. i did lose my interest after lovesong dropped bc i thought they weren't the best at rock and the whole growling thing didn't fit their vocals + for the majority of their tracks their voices are autotuned to achieve a tinny effect which works best with their edm songs personally i don't like when voices are autotuned in rock bc i prefer live instruments used in production so autotuned voices stick out really badly. also for the mainstream rock trend that took over kpop they used electronic guitars and drums which sound different from recorded guitars n stuff so i wasn't really interested. i was rllyyy glad when they dropped the rock bc rock doesn't have danceable music in the first place you just kinda headbang and scream along with the singer 😭

i think they do rock influence better or when they integrate electric guitars and stuff like that in their music compared to full on rock because the rock songs they released felt super super sanitised for the gp. I'm obvs not an expert in rock but compared to bands like day6 or rock groups like dreamcatcher you could reallyyyy hear the difference

i also think a huge part of why nwjns is so popular is because theyre so young ik a LOT of people hate and are concerned over the fact that the youngest member is 14 but i also feel they'll forget about it just as they forgot how young leeseo is... the styling for their debut was superrr concerning and the backlash ador got gave a good impact but :/ eventually theyre gonna be put in tank tops again i feel. it's not even a new problem bc kpop has been debuting young idols for ages and we move on VERY quickly i dont remember belift getting backlash for fever even though niki was like fourteen when it released

but like anyway 💀 nmixx has great vocalists and dancers but i don't listen to them much or gidle but i thought lion was really REALLY good. also don't apologise for the paragraph i like hearing other ppl's opinions besides i typed an entire essay out so lol

alright, i know what you're thinking: who the hell is h1-key? and that's what's wrong with kpop stans! like, how could you NOT know h1-key? sure, their debut was (very) disappointing, but they perfectly picked themselves up again with run. I was very surprised when I heard this song, since it was so simple yet so fun. rose blossom did kinda disappoint me, since I had hoped they would feed into the cute sporty concept, but they put it down just as quickly as they had picked it up. don't get me wrong, rose blossom is fine, but it wasn't the route I was expecting them to take.
