X-Men 57 and 58 are awful. Sure, we get havok and his cool costume. But we also have an awful sequel to the amazing sentinel saga. Larry Trask is no Bolivar Trask. I'll say that. And the original sentinel saga was amazing with Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Werner Roth. This Roy Thomas/Neal Adams follow-up does nothing for me. And not just because I find Neal Adams a worse artist than Werner Roth.

Really good Twitter thread originally about Elon Musk and Twitter, but also applies to Netflix and a lot of other corporations.
Full thread. Text transcription under cut.
John Bull @garius
One of the things I occasionally get paid to do by companies/execs is to tell them why everything seemed to SUDDENLY go wrong, and subs/readers dropped like a stone. So, with everything going on at Twitter rn, time for a thread about the Trust Thermocline /1
So: what's a thermocline?
Well large bodies of water are made of layers of differing temperatures. Like a layer cake. The top bit is where all the the waves happen and has a gradually decreasing temperature. Then SUDDENLY there's a point where it gets super-cold.
That suddenly is important. There's reasons for it (Science!) but it's just a good metaphor. Indeed you may also be interested in the "Thermocline of Truth" which a project management term for how things on a RAG board all suddenly go from amber to red.
But I digress. The Trust Thermocline is something that, over (many) years of digital, I have seen both digital and regular content publishers hit time and time again. Despite warnings (at least when I've worked there). And it has a similar effect. You have lots of users then suddenly... nope. And this does effect print publications as much as trendy digital media companies. They'll be flying along making loads of money, with lots of users/readers, rolling out new products that get bought. Or events. Or Sub-brands.
And then SUDDENLY those people just abandon them. Often it's not even to "new" competitor products, but stuff they thought were already not a threat. Nor is there lots of obvious dissatisfaction reported from sales and marketing (other than general grumbling). Nor is it a general drift away, it's just a sudden big slide. So why does this happen? As I explain to these people and places, it's because they breached the Trust Thermocline.
I ask them if they'd been increasing prices. Changed service offerings. Modified the product.
The answer is normally: "yes, but not much. And everyone still paid" Then I ask if they did that the year before. Did they increase prices last year? Change the offering? Modify the product?
Again: "yes, but not much."
The answer is normally: "yes, but not much. And everyone still paid." "And the year before?"
"Yes but not much. And everyone still paid."
Well, you get the idea. And here is where the Trust Thermocline kicks in. Because too many people see service use as always following an arc. They think that as long as usage is ticking up, they can do what they like to cost and product.
And (critically) that they can just react when the curve flattens But with a lot of CONTENT products (inc social media) that's not actually how it works. Because it doesn't account for sunk-cost lock-in.
Users and readers will stick to what they know, and use, well beyond the point where they START to lose trust in it. And you won't see that. But they'll only MOVE when they hit the Trust Thermocline. The point where their lack of trust in the product to meet their needs, and the emotional investment they'd made in it, have finally been outweighed by the physical and emotional effort required to abandon it. At this point, I normally get asked something like:
"So if we undo the last few changes and drop the price, we get them back?"
And then I have to break the news that nope: that's not how it works.
Because you're past the Thermocline now. You can't make them trust you again.

Azul: MC...
Azul: My "poor" friend...
Azul: How are you? 🥺
Chubby MC: Mf I see what you did there.
Azul: I know you are having a difficult time right now, so I am trying to cheer you up.
Chubby MC: Don't try when you're not good at it.
Azul: 🙄
Azul: Anyway, where are you? I texted Jade and he said you went out for a walk.
Chubby MC: Yeah. And looking for a job too.
Azul: You still didn't get a job?
Chubby MC: I got one, but I'm looking for a second.
Azul: Why???
Chubby MC: My house has been invaded and I want to move out.
Azul: ...
Azul: Is the situation really that bad?
Chubby MC: I don't like seeing couples in my own house.
Azul: Fair enough.
Azul: Hey, why don't we talk on the phone?
Chubby MC: So you can use your hands to sign contracts?
Azul: Yes. Texting is decreasing my productivity.
Chubby MC: Yeah, sure.
Jade: *is stalking MC*
Vivienne: It appears they are not aware of their surroundings.
Jade: ...
Jade: Why have you come here? Didn't I explicitly instruct you not to leave the house?
Vivienne: I'm worried about you. *nonchalant expression*
Jade: My, that's a waste of emotion.
Vivienne: It's not if it's you, Jade Leech.
Jade: *not amused*
Chubby MC: Damn, I'm standing in front of the supermarket now.
Azul: How long have you been walking?
Chubby MC: Am I supposed to measure that?
Azul: Hmph.
Chubby MC: Should I go inside or not?
Azul: You should. I'll send you money.
Chubby MC: No need. I have money here.
Azul: Huh? You haven't started working in your new job yet.
Chubby MC: Yeah.
Azul: Then who did you get your money from?
Chubby MC: Vivienne.
Azul: ...
Azul: Why?
Chubby MC: I don't know. Maybe payment for staying in my house?
Azul: So you're accepting rent now?
Chubby MC: Can't I?
Azul: Well...
Chubby MC: Ah, I'm buying seafood. Oh, the octopus is on sale.
Azul: ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?
Chubby MC: It's begging for its life.
Azul: I hate you!
Chubby MC: *didn't buy anything and went straight home after teasing Azul*
Chubby MC: I'm going to bed early.
Jade and Vivienne: *waiting for them at the entrance*
Chubby MC: ...
Jade: *smiles warmly* Welcome home.
Vivienne: Hm. You didn't buy anything.
Chubby MC: Yeah, because it's not my money. *returns it to her*
Chubby MC: If you'll excuse me, I want to go to bed now.
Jade: How about dinner?
Chubby MC: Go serve your wife. *then walks inside*
Jade: ...
Vivienne: ...
Floyd: Beluga-chan?
Floyd: Beluga-chan~? Are you sleeping???
Chubby MC: *was messaging Floyd, but fell asleep immediately*
Floyd: Hehehehe~ Good night, Beluga-chan~.
Vivienne: *holding their phone* They're close to Floyd Leech too.
Jade: *snatches the phone from her* That is an invasion of privacy.
Vivienne: ...
Vivienne: Aren't we both invading their privacy?
Jade and Vivienne: *individually decided to enter MC's room*
Jade: Oh, but I have their consent.
Vivienne: Huh. How convenient.

Back to you.
OKAY. I had this idea while I was washing dishes. Just tell me if I should write this or not! (Just a preread to see if at least one person will like this)
warnings: angst, fluff and a bit of stalk
Back to you masterlist.

Dating a Robin was magical. Him showing up at your window at night and running around the mansion to hide from an angry Alfred about having his cookies stolen was just incredible. But no one told you that you would lose your boyfriend one day.
The risk was always clear and you were aware of the danger that Jason was in, but you had never imagined that the Joker would kidnap and kill him.
When Bruce told you it was like losing a part of you. Half of your soul ripped out and killed prematurely.
You cried for weeks. You fainted when you saw his body in that coffin. The love of your life was dead.
You spent months in deep grief and depression. You thought about giving up and even killing the joker, but how could you? she was just another ordinary civilian.
Two, three years passed. You entered therapy and had asked Bruce for help. You wanted to set up an NGO, with the name Jason, of course. You wanted to help the children and teenagers who suffered on the streets of crime alley just like Jason suffered.
Bruce agreed and gave you all the financial support you needed.
Jason Peter Todd Association for children and teenagers in need. That was the name you said with pride and love.
Over time, this helped you try to get over Jason's death. Seeing the smiles on those children's faces made you smile again.
It was already the fourth year since Jason's death. You always visited Jason's grave to lay flowers. It was a tradition to go to his grave on weekends and sit down to read a Jane Austen or Shakespeare classic.
In the fifth year you had already expanded the NGO. It was already in other poor parts of the city.
And suddenly, more donations began to appear, and much higher than Bruce's. It scared you and made you curious. They were all always in Red Hood's name.
Some time later, crime decreased and the sale of drugs to children was no longer happening. In the news the name Red Hood was always mentioned.
He was the new Prince of Crime. For you, it doesn't matter, he's helping children and protecting them from crime.
But things were getting strange. Flowers appeared on the doorstep of you apartment, boxes with classic limited edition books and chocolates (your favorites), and all with the same signature. RedHood.
This was scaring you. Who is this guy? And why you?

The way it works is it's a surgery to make you immune to a bullet.
Note, that's not the same as being immune to bullets. You're only immune to a single shot: if someone shoots you twice, you're dead.
You can take the surgery again, though. The only real limitation is that you gotta wait 2-3 weeks between each time. But if you've got the money and the time, you can be as bulletproof as you want.
It doesn't "refill", by the way. Often when the surgery is explained people think it's like "a bullet a day" or "you can get shot once a year" or whatever. Nope! Once you've been shot it's just like you never had that surgery to begin with. If you want to "refill" that immunity? You have the surgery again.
No, there's no upper limit to how many times you can go, that we know of at least. There's one guy in Florida who has made it "his thing" to get the surgery as often as he can. He's currently up to about 50. Obviously there's some people online who've said they're gonna shoot this guy and lower his "record", just to be countrary.
Anyway I'm sure there'd be people who have even higher numbers (anyone who has "getting shot" as a major occupational risk, ie, politicians, soldiers, cops, and anyone doing any kind of residental survey in rural areas), but they only invented the surgery like three years ago, it's just simple math: you can't do much better than that guy.
The invention of the surgery hasn't done much to decrease gun sales, though. I mean, there's been a slight increase in people buying guns with larger capacity, for what I'd consider obvious reasons.
I did see an article suggesting that in the long run it might end up increasing the sale of guns. See their analysis is that two factors are going to drive up gun ownership:
1. People will be more willing to shoot at trespassers and thieves and such, because it'll be more like a warning shot: if they have some immunity, it won't be murder. So far that hasn't really happened as not that many people have the surgery yet. Although it's spreading fast, only major cities have surgeons trained in it, and often waits for surgery can be months long.
2. Conversely, people are going to be more likely to break in and rob and trespass if they know they can't be shot dead for it, because they got the surgery. There'll be a minor uptick in home invasions and such and this'll cause a big predictable panic among middle class homeowners who are now terrified some hooligan is gonna break into their house to steal their iPads. Thus they go throw money at security systems and cameras and guns.
So who knows at this point. If the cost (in both time and money) comes down, maybe it becomes super common for people to be so effectively invulnerable to guns that there's really no point in owning one?
I do agree with the common consensus that this is going to drive a big increase in crimes committed with knives and such. Why take a risk that your target might be immune?
Which reminds me of another thing to clarify because sometimes people online get this very wrong: it's only for bullets! You are not immune to getting hit by a car or poisoned or set on fire. Don't walk into traffic or anything, jesus.
Oh one last thing: there is a blood test that can tell if you have immunity, but it can't tell how many times you've had the surgery. You gotta figure that out yourself: so ask your doctor, search your emails, something. Every day I'm hearing from healthcare workers saying someone came in to get the blood test and it had to be explained to them that we can't tell how much protection you have: only if it's there or not. And I feel like a fool for having to say this, but REMEMBER to subtract any times you've got shot! (if you have been) Obviously!
EDIT: In light of recent events, people are sharing this post and arguing about it a lot, but let me be clear: grazes and small cuts do not count! The exact dividing line is too complicated to explain here (look up "circulatory shock" on Wikipedia), but basically if you don't end up with a big hole in you, the shot doesn't trigger the immunity.
That's how it works: you could have an ear blown clean off, and you'd still not trigger an immunity. So please stop spreading that idiotic conspiracy theory that a former president didn't have any immunity. You can barely run a high-school without being required to have immunity to hold the position, because what if someone shoots you? Come on! Of course he has immunity.
For all we know he's got some prototype experimental shit they use on president's that got him up to 200 in a couple days. There's endless rumors of the DoD funding billions in black budget items to that sort of thing, because of course. Who wouldn't want a way to make bulletproof soldiers? You don't think the soviets are pouring even more into it?

did he or did he not lose fans then?
I will answer this because this anon actually brings a concrete question to the table rather than just "hurhur but you're a larrie??" (tell me you can't actually refute any of our points…). Anyway this post shows the decrease in Louis instagram followers between the screenshots taken directly after the release of Faith in the Future in Nov '22, when he changed his bio to promote that album and the tour tickets, and now, when he changed it again to mention the current release. But I'm putting that response under a cut because I'm tired of the actual POINT of all this nonsense getting lost in a sea of made up things people insist are important:
There is no rational argument you can make to say that Louis has less fans now than he did 2, 4, or 6 years ago. You don't need a spreadsheet of details you need to USE YOUR EYES! He has gone from filling theaters to filling arenas and stadiums. His second album made a higher chart position than his first album. His festival has doubled in size EVERY year of its existence. And for that matter: his insta post engagement numbers remain about the same (despite the fact that older posts should have way MORE likes due to having been there longer, even aside from follower counts.) SO WHO FUCKING CARES ABOUT HIS INSTA FOLLOWER NUMBER???? Serious question: what does the word "fans" mean if these things aren't what matters? ALL of this quibbling about what he should do to make things better and people can't even see that THINGS AREN'T BAD.
Anyway to address the specific question- (con't......)
NO- HE DID NOT LOSE FANS. HE LOST SOME INSTA FOLLOWERS. THESE ARE NOT THE SAME THING. As I said above, literally what does it mean to lose fans if that number change coincides with him having higher sales, more audience members, and higher engagement than ever before? Whatever he lost ISN'T FANS. I wouldn't be surprised if a significant factor was something like a bot purge, but also yes: I'm sure a lot of casuals followed him around the time of his big album release and later unfollowed him. That's extremely normal because that's how casual engagement works, and why the definition of fan really matters. Louis and his team understand this and have referenced it repeatedly, talking about how lucky he is to have *us* specifically, to have the kind of dedicated fanbase he has, to have the KIND of fans he does who will allow him to do what HE wants. @dogsliampaynedoesntinstagram named the issue of depth vs breadth with regard to fans a long time ago, and pointed out why having DEPTH is so much more important. It's like this- artists who are on top 40 radio have more numbers on things like insta follows, and for a time on sales and tickets. But those aren't FANS- they're people with a casual interest. And as soon as that person isn't being forced in their ears 10x a day, those people lose interest and stop supporting them, stop buying stuff and unfollow, and those artists end up doing the 'opener on the jingle ball' circuit rather than their own tours. One Direction as a whole, and Louis maybe most of all or near to at this point, have something MUCH MORE VALUABLE than that- DEPTH FANS. Louis has fans who will support him even if he takes years to release music, or stops parading around with a pretend girlfriend to stay in the headlines at least once a month, or completely changes his image and genre, and that is UNHEARD OF. It's ASTONISHING and worth SO MUCH MORE. And they get that! THAT is why he always bragging about us, why industry people he works with are always so agog about us, why he will do anything for US- not for randos. He is also growing his breadth- and it's OBVIOUSLY WORKING whatever his follower counts are, but that is always going to be secondary to doing things for THE FANDOM because that is his sustainable business model. That is what keeps him onstage and reaching number one. And not coincidentally, the things they do are also working to grow that- much more valuable- commodity. So the fact that that's exactly what these chuckleheads complain about- that he does things that are just fandom facing or serving rather than everything being aimed at recruiting casual fans- does nothing but betray how completely they, unlike Louis and his team, misunderstand the actual drivers of his (actual, existing, happening) success. Luckily for Louis, he and his team rely on their own data harvesting (they do a LOT of it) and growth metrics (they're off the charts) rather than the smug assumptions of random (mostly quite new to this) fans and the few bitter people leading the complaining about everything Louis does.
#louis promo#all this nonsense about this tag or that tag or this or that number is so getting lost in the trees#when the forest is RIGHT HERE: WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS WORKING#so for now#I'm pretty done with this discussion unless someone actually engages meaningfully with the content of anything I'm saying#rather than just repeating the same things- but he needs to tag more! or the even more boring-#but you're a larry! if you send me a bitchy response that doesnt actually address any points I've made#I will assume it is because I'm right and you have no rebuttal other than to act like a preschooler because deep down you know it#honestly the discourse around this makes me feel a little sad and scared about the state of literacy and reading comprehension#and just general analytical thinking#but I hope its just that no one over 15 spends their time sending hate anons about fandom#if I'm wrong please come engage in actual conversation! but otherwise... let's just... not#blah blah blah#anyway there's a reason Louis is always so afraid no one will be there for him and that he started out solo era playing those radio fests..#because we are IMPROBABLE we are UNBELIEVABLE we are NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN EXPECT OR COUNT ON#and making nurturing and maintaining that his number one priority ALWAYS is extremely correct and smart#actually#I was originally going to be like here are when there were bot purges here are other artists that have seen numbers go down etc#but then I was like WAIT WHO CARES. You're letting these people dictate the conversation... but the premise is stupid#it DOESNT MATTER#depth v breadth

Angel by the Wing - Thirty-One
A/N: no this isn't an April Fool's prank lol. I take the LSAT in 10 days and I want to throw up!!! :)))))
Series Masterlist (Mobile Masterlist)
Chapter Warnings: emotional abuse (we find out why Angel is Like That)
Tumblr media
“It’s not great,” Penny admitted.
“But it’s not horrible either,” you pointed out. The two of you sat at one of the rustic wooden picnic tables outside the bar. A plate of fries sat untouched between you as you looked over the quarterly profit margin. Everything was down and your sales were drastically decreasing from last year.
“Even if you and I took on more shifts, we’d be screwing over the others by cutting their hours. It’s a no-win situation,” she sighed. The bar was losing money and you could see it was starting to take a toll on her. This was supposed to be one of the busier seasons thanks to the warm weather and the proximity to the beach, but aside from a random tourist here and there, you rarely saw anyone other than military personnel come by and it was hurting your profits.
“We could raise the price of food? Or decrease the menu,” you mused. “Less options means less cost for products.”
“Just keep appetizers and stuff. Maybe let go of one of the cooks.” You could tell she didn’t want to relieve anyone, but you were going to have to if the numbers kept getting smaller. Penny stared at the pages spread out between you two in hopes that they would magically change. She looked out onto the ocean and pursed her lips in contemplation.
“This place is one of the longest standing Navy bars in the whole city,” she said quietly. “And everyone is going to know me as the woman who couldn’t keep it open.”
“Hey, no.” You covered her hand with your own. “First of all, you are not the one to blame when people aren’t coming. We’ll figure out why traffic is falling. Second of all, you are not going to sit here and shit on yourself. That is not the Penny Benjamin I know. We will figure this out, Pen. I promise.”
Her lips quirked up into a small smile and she squeezed your hand. “I knew I hired you for a reason.”
“My amazing personality and brilliant mind?”
“Actually it was the fact that you told Hangman to fuck off instead of sleeping with him.”
“But I did sleep with him.”
“After you told him to fuck off, though.”
You opened your mouth to retort but your phone, seated on the table in front of you, began to sound. Noticing who it was, you ignored it without a second thought. You let the phone ring until it went to voicemail, ignoring Penny’s pointed look. A two-word text flashed across your screen and you read it with a creeping sense of dread filling your gut.
“Who was that?” Penny asked.
“Hmm? Oh, just a spam call, I think.”
She shot you a warning glare but you didn’t have it in you to fight today. You also didn’t want to burden her with more of your problems.
“I have to go pick up Amelia from school but hey, we weren’t going to figure this out in one day.”
“And we will figure it out, Pen. I promise.”
The older woman flashed you a sad smile and sighed. “I hope so, kid. Have a good night off.” The two of you gathered up all the papers and Penny stuffed them back into the binder she had brought with her.
You waited until her car pulled out of the lot before you picked your phone up again and studied the text. Might as well get it over with now.
She picked up on the third ring and you braced yourself. “Hi mom.”
“Janie Sue from church was in San Diego visiting her nephew and guess what she saw?” Her tone was bored, but you sensed the anger underlying her words.
“The USS Midway museum?” you offered up.
“She saw you bartending at some rundown Navy bar and said you were hanging all over two men the whole night.”
“And no one is questioning why Janie Sue was at a bar with her underage nephew and her alcoholic husband?”
Your full name met your ears with a blistering crack and heat spread across your cheeks as the brunt of her anger flooded through the phone. “I figured your little voicemail was your idea of a prank, but now I know for a fact that you have wasted every opportunity your father and I gave you to end up as a whore.”
“Mom, it’s not like tha-”
“It is exactly like that! You are brilliant. You had so much going for you. And now you’re knocked up like some two-bit prostitute who spread her legs for any sailor who tipped you well.”
Shame and rage pooled in your chest and pressure built in your eyes. You bowed your head and shielded your face in case anyone who would recognize you walked by.
“Mom, I’m happy,” you interjected with a shaky voice.
“You don’t sound very happy! You could have been anything you ever wanted to be and this is what you chose? If they’re so willing to share you, do you really think those two boys give a shit about you? How many girls are they sleeping with when you’re not around?”
“Mom, they’re not like that! Seriously, they are good men.”
“Oh, that’s what they all say. He’s different, he’s special,” she mocked. “Do you hear yourself right now? It’s pathetic. Honey, your father and I can come and get you. You can move back in with us and we’ll support you and the baby until you can get back on your feet.”
“No, I don’t need you to come get me. San Diego is my home. I have a life here. I have my life here. I’m not leaving.”
Your mother let out a deep, heavy sigh laced with frustration. “If you keep going down this path of wrong choices, one of these days you’ll learn to regret it. We’ll be here when you realize how much of your life you’ve wasted trying to prove a point to me.”
“Why didn’t you call when I first told you?” You finally spit out the question that had been eating at you since you saw her initial call. “Why now? Is it because others know and are talking about it? You just can’t be anything but the way you want people to view you, can you?”
Tears were dripping down your cheeks and mingling with the disgusting, snotty sob that rose in your chest. Your mother let out a bitter laugh.
“And this is always how it goes. Now you’re going to be mean to me in some attempt to make yourself feel superior. You don’t know everything so stop acting like you do. Now, I’m going to hang up before you start yelling at me. Stop being so dramatic, honey. You chose this life.”
The line went dead and you had the urge to launch your phone into the ocean. Fuck. Fucking fuck. Double triple flying fuck.
You swiped at the tears that dripped down your cheeks with the back of your hand and clambored off of the bench before anyone saw you. Jake was visiting his mom and Bradley had flown back to Virginia two days ago and was currently on a road trip back to San Diego. He kept sending selfies to the group chat the three of you shared. You were saving all of them.
Good. That would give you privacy to sob all the bullshit out without anyone worrying.
You knew she wasn’t right. You knew this. But at the same time, years of her words crowded your mind and consumed your body. Was she right? There was nothing special about you. Were the boys staying simply because you were knocked up? Your body went cold at the thought of that and you wrapped your arms around your stomach, guarding it from the world.
Fuck it. Fuck it all. If that was true, then you would figure it out all by yourself, just like you had your entire life.
You approached your clunky old car and fumbled for the key, your hands trembling as you tried to unlock it. Just as you slipped the key into the lock, a soft sound caught your attention. You paused and waited, but didn’t hear anything else. Opening the door, you prepared to slide in when there was that damn sound again.
You kneeled down and came face to face with the sad, pitiful eyes of a cat that had clearly seen better days. It let out another weak cry and you felt tears well up in your eyes again.
“Oh my god,” you whispered aloud at the pervasive nature of your hormones. The cat blinked up at you and slowly slunk forward. It investigated your outstretched hand and then gently twisted its head to rest in your palm, begging for any kind of attention.
There was no fucking way you were leaving this little baby all alone in the parking lot.
That’s how you ended up stumbling into the townhome with sticky tear tracks on your cheeks and a scruffy, malnourished cat curled up in your arms. You had sent a text to Sofia when you were at a red light because you knew she grew up with all sorts of animals and the Trace household had three cats. She would know what to do.
“Baby?” Jake called when you tumbled through the front door. You froze, not expecting him to be home. He was supposed to be at his mom’s.
As if summoned, Jennifer and Jake appeared around the doorway to the kitchen and found you looking like an absolute mess. Your clothes were rumpled, your makeup was destroyed, and a clearly malnourished and homeless cat meowed pathetically from your arms.
“I didn’t…” you stammered out. “I couldn’t just leave him there. A car could have hit him or a dog could have attacked him o-or…” Tears welled up in your eyes again and you hugged the cat a little closer to your chest.
“I’m sorry,” you said in a quiet voice that was so unlike yourself. “But I couldn’t just leave him.”
Jake moved past his mother and approached you. He wiped some of the tears off of your cheeks and then studied the cat in your arms. “We can’t keep him, baby.”
“I know,” you hiccupped out a little whimper. “Sofia gave me the info for her vet and I set up an appointment for tomorrow morning. Can he please just stay the night?”
Jennifer watched her son with a close eye. Jake was a dog person through and through. She remembered how he would beg her for a dog every Christmas and every birthday, but she could never deliver. He always said cats were too aloof, too mean, not cuddly enough, and more. He was a clean person who loved order in his home.
But one look at the tears in your eyes had Jake Seresin caving.
“He can stay the night,” Jake conceded.
A brilliant smile lit up your face and you hugged the poor cat even tighter, but the feline didn’t argue. Instead, it tucked its little head under your jaw and started to purr.
“Thank you, Jake. Is now a good time to tell you that Nat and Sofia are already bringing over some stuff for him?”
He rolled his eyes but kissed you on the top of the head. Jake even kept the comments to a minimum when the couple showed up armed with a litter box, fresh litter, food, and a few toys. You cordoned off the laundry room for the cat and started to set up his space when Jake casually moved you out of the room.
“You can’t change litter,” he warned. “Nat just told me.”
“Yeah, I can’t change the litter that he’s used, Einstein,” you retorted but he leveled you with a stern glare and pointed away from the laundry room.
“Out. I’ll call you back when it’s ready.”
You sighed but kissed his cheek in thanks and made your way outside where Sofia and Nat were, luckily not making out, but chatting next to their car. Sofia grinned at the sight of her friend and slung her arm over your shoulders.
“Hangman won’t admit it, but that cat’s staying forever,” Nat said. “Have you texted Bradley yet?”
“Nah, I’m gonna surprise him with Skipper when he comes home.”
“Skipper?” Sofia chuckled. “Oh yeah, he’s definitely staying.”
Jake poked his head out from the front door and Nat pushed away from the car to go chat with him about something. You took that as your chance and burrowed in closer to your best friend’s side.
“What’s up?” Sofia had an incredibly discerning eye and always seemed to know what you were feeling before you did.
“‘S nothing. I, uh, I got the paternity results back.” Sofia was the only one who knew you even got the test done. As a medical receptionist on base, she was the one who helped coordinate your test thanks to the potential fathers being naval officers.
“Hey, whoever it is, the three of you are locked together,” Sofia assured you. You nodded, but your mother’s words ran through your mind over and over again.

All the tax does feel so high though i get why its necessary but it feels like a bit of a kick in the ass especially in ontario where they have still 13% sales tax and it's hard enough to get on any subsidization. Like theres hardly any accessible housing support, 1 in 19 ontarians use food banks, disabled people are constantly in a battle with the government to get any sort of income. So im watching the quality of my neighbourhood and schools go down and eugenics literally being encouraged instead of just. Having a universal basic income. It's probably a gross oversimplification for what my understanding of all the underlying issues going on, but I'm not seeing the extra hundreds of dollars I spend a year go back into the pockets of the people who Actually need it.
My issue is if you just cut the tax, then social programs will disappear, which won't be a net benefit imo.
So if you are going to remove general taxes like sales tax, you have to significantly target other areas such as with wealth taxes.
I'm just saying that while it would be a good thing to ease pressure on lower income people, you have to have a plan to replace the lost income or you could end up hurting low income people in other ways (such as decreased income supports from less tax revenue, or decreased funding for public transit, etc).

Ranking the Miracucast by how much Adrien: The Fragrance they own
Marinette: Do you even have to ask? She has gallons. 10/10
Alya: She has more than the average girl her age, but that's mostly because it was on sale and she felt like supporting Adrien in a way that was pretty easy. 5/10
Adrien: Yes. 10/10
Nino: Has gotten at least 1 bottle as a joke. Adrien was not amused. 1/10
Chloe: She has a significantly large amount of Adrien, and she says that she wears it all the time, but her collection isn't decreasing as much as she says it is. Sus. 8/10
Sabrina: Unlike Chloe, Sabrina actually likes this perfume. Main reason Chloe's collection is decreasing is because Sabrina uses it. 8/10 by proxy
Mylene: Had some, but then she learned about some of the stuff that Gabriel puts in his perfumes. Then she set all her bottles on fire. At once. In the classroom. They had to have a fire drill. Maybe it wasn't her smartest idea. But she was tired. 3/10
Ivan: Everyone assumed he was the one who set the fire, and he is doing nothing to dissuade them of that notion. 2/10
Rose: This girl knows her perfume. She sorts it alphabetically. She may or may not make her own, by performing unethical experiments on the perfumes she already owns. The Adrien is no exception, she has more types of it than legally exist on the market. 6/10
Juleka: Actually wears it quite a bit, since A) She kinda likes the smell, B) It's cheap, and C) Adrien uses it as proof that he is in fact endorsing her as a model. The only thing holding her career back is her self-confidence. You can do it Juleka! We believe in you! 7/10
Kim: hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. 9/10
Max: Absolutely not. 0/10
Alix: She actually has a pretty sizable collection of the stuff in the Burrow. But none of it seems to be stuff that's currently on the market, it's all weird future versions of the stuff with odd scents, unreleased prototypes that put you at risk of setting it on fire if you use it, or bottles from alternate timelines that somehow survived whatever apocalypse was going on there. It's complicated. But since they're all weird versions of it, she has a nice excuse to not use it. Ever. Alix/10
Nathaniel: Bought a whole bunch and used it to create an art piece for Adrien's birthday. Adrien was extremely amused and gave the artwork a special spot in the corner of his room. It still smells like the fragrance (and bottles) used to make it, which is very good for disguising the scent of Plagg's camembert. 4/10
Lila: Is contractually forced to wear the stuff due to legal shenanigans. She hates it. She hates it so much. But if any of the Agreste Household realize that she isn't wearing it then things will get more ComplicatedTM for her so she just has to deal. 9/10
Luka: Borrows Juleka's sometimes. If it works, it works! The twins already share a lot of stuff anyway, she doesn't mind. Sometimes it leads to Luka getting weird looks from other people, but Luka has never really been one to care about that. 5/10
Kagami: Like Lila, she's basically contractually obligated to wear it. unlike Lila, she doesn't own a single bottle of the stuff. Neither Gabriel nor Tomoe care about it enough to force her, so she will take what she can get. 0/10
Marc: He adamantly refuses to disclose how much of the stuff he has, if any. It's probably one of the best-kept secrets in the entire school. I have no clue either, so I'm just going to give him the average score and you all can try and come up with your own guess. 5/10
Ondine: Kim once bought her some perfume in bulk as a gift (oh, THAT's why his own score was so high, I get it now) but unfortunately perfume is not really practical for a girl who spends a significant amount of her time swimming and showering. She appreciated the gift, though, and wears it when she feels like being fancy! 3/10
Aurore: She's an Adrien fangirl. 'Nuff said. 8/10
Felix: He hates this stuff with a burning passion. Everyone sees him and goes "hey aren't you that guy on the perfume ads?" and he despises it. He actively goes out of his way to tear down posters and deface advertisements, even going to such great lengths as to create sentimonsters with the explicit purpose of reducing sales of Adrien. Felix will do everything in his power to decrease the amount of this stuff in the world. -5/10
Zoe: She arrived after the craze was over and has no context for anything. So she also borrows from Chloe's stash on occasion, but she doesn't really much care for the smell. 4/10

This is not gonna win me a lot of friends on here but seriously a lot of y'all are irritating me lately with your gleeful piracy posts.
"Poor people deserve stories, to!" You're right. 100% Go on gumroad. There are a ton of authors, myself included, who are giving away free books there. Many of them are from the very marginalized backgrounds y'all claim to want to champion. Look for newsletter giveaways. there are literally so damn many ways to get books that come from creators who have consented to give them away. Oh, but you think anyone should be entitled to the exact book they want without paying for it? the popular book from the big publisher? That's a different thing. That's a different thing that continues to uphold ideas that the mega-corporations are the only source for good stories, that only stories vetted by the companies you claim to be rallying against have value.
"Piracy is archiving!" Archiving is archiving. I can't speak to how it works with indie videogames or what have you, but with books, this is absurd. Ok, say you illegally download a book. If it's from a huge publisher, this is nonsense cause a ton of those were printed. It is not in danger if vanishing. Say it's from a small publisher- you have now decreased that publishers chances of of continuing to print and distribute the book. You are making the book harder to locate in the future. You want to make sure a book doesn't vanish? Pay for it. If it vanishes utterly off the internet when the author dies or whatever, then yay, you have a copy and can maybe help get it back in circulation. Not paying for the book didn't help with that. You can help save an out of circulation book later just as well if you paid for it.
"Piracy is counter corporations!" See point 1. Also, a lot of the sites where you all are pirating fiction do just as much scraping of indie, self-pub, and small press books. Robin Hood wasn't stealing from the poor to give to the poor. I personally know an author whose publisher dropped them mid series because the book wasn't selling, who later found a piracy site with WAY more downloads of her book than there were legal sales. She gave up publishing after that.
This isn't sour grapes, folks. To my knowledge, my own books have never been pirated, and to be honest, over the years I've sold as many copies as a regular mid-list author with a pig publisher.
But I have watched so many authors- not wealthy people- have their work stolen from them. Many of them are disabled and really struggle with other kinds of jobs. They can do this work, but they can't make money, and this is honest to god a big part of why. I feel like people don't believe this. If you don't hang around authors maybe it's tempting to buy in to the hollywood idea of an author.
If you don't think you're entitled to demand free labor from a plumber, then why do you think you're entitled to demand free labor from an author or artist? Is it because you don't have to look them in the eye? Is it because you feel like you can get away with it? Is it because you've fallen for the fantasy that authors are wealthy people living glamorous lives, and their labor doesn't count because they're so lucky to be making a living with their art?
I don't know. And please don't defend this to me.
Just go read free books, if you can't afford to buy them and don't have library access. Or at least stop rubbing what you're doing in the faces of all the creators on this website who put a lot of hard work into the things they make.
Reblogs are nice, but reblogs accompanied by cheerful endorsements of stealing things which aren't freely given do not make for an ideal community.

[A3!] Event | A Postman Delivering Your Feelings | Episode 2
Tumblr media
Izumi: That’s it for sorting through the mail. I’ll have everyone else pick their’s up at dinner.
*Door opens*
Yuki: …You guys sure are a weird group to see together.
Izumi: Perfect timing, Yuki-kun. You got a postcard from your favorite craft store.
Yuki: Thanks. Probably a sales announcement or something.
Yuki: Anyway, what are you guys up to?
Masumi: We’re talking about the letter we all got.
Misumi: That reminds me, what were you guys talking about before I came?
Izumi: Actually, we just got a request from the local post office to do an event performance. I was just about to tell you guys about it.
Tumblr media
Misumi: Really!? We got a request from the post office!? That’s surprising~!
Yuki: A performance request from the post office… I never knew they wanted that sorta thing.
Tasuku: It is pretty weird. I’ve never really heard of that sorta thing before.
Masumi: I never knew they even did events like that.
Misumi: What kinda job is it~?
Izumi: Have you guys ever seen the post office holding an event at the shopping mall before? They hold one every couple of months.
Yuki: Oh, that thing they do at the plaza?
Misumi: I’ve seen them selling postcards before~!
Masumi: And I’ve seen them selling New Year’s cards.
Tasuku: I never knew they did that so often.
Izumi: We’ve been asked to look after visitors at the event and perform on stage and I’m planning on accepting their request.
Yuki: Hmm… But I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a stage at those post office events before.
Izumi: This time they wanted to do things a little differently for this special event.
Masumi: Special event? What is it?
Izumi: The person in charge of the post office event told me that the number of people sending postcards and letters has been decreasing every year due to the increase in smartphone use…
Izumi: They want people to know the importance of expressing their feelings and the joy of receiving handwritten letters by writing lettings themselves with the recipients in mind.
Izumi: But just doing their event as usual isn’t enough to get their point across…
Izumi: That’s why they’ve decided to hold an event with the theme of “To Your Loved Ones…”.
Izumi: And they want to appeal to a variety of people with the help of MANKAI Company at this event.
Tasuku: I mean, that’s fair, I hardly ever write letters.
Yuki: Me neither. LIME and other things are just way more convenient.
Misumi: But I’m always really happy when I get a letter~.
Masumi: I also feel like a letter conveys my feelings better than LIME or whatever does. That’s why I sometimes write letters to Director and give them to her.
Izumi: Yeah, I have gotten letters from Masumi-kun quite a few times.
Izumi: It really does make the recipient happy to think that the person who sent them the letter wrote each and every word with thought and care.
Tumblr media
Masumi: Director…
Masumi: I’ll write you 50 letters a day if it’ll make you happy.
Izumi: That sure is a lot…!
Misumi: ‘Kay, ‘kay! I wanna do this event!
Masumi: I’ll do it too.
Izumi: Yeah, based on what you two were saying about Respect-for-the-Aged Day before, I thought this would be the perfect event for you guys. I feel like I can trust you guys with this.
Izumi: Thank you, Misumi-kun and Masumi-kun.
Masumi: Yeah, leave it to me.
Misumi: We’ll do our best!
Izumi: What about you guys, Yuki-kun and Tasuku-san?
Yuki: Well… I don’t write letters anymore, but I used to write them. I guess I’ll do it.
Tasuku: I don’t really write letter either, but I get a lot of them from fans.
Tasuku: So doing it should be able to convey to them just how happy I was to get their letters.
Tumblr media
Tasuku: …People’s impressions of performances written out are kinda like letters, in a way.
Tasuku: I don’t have any guest performances coming up… I’ll do the performances too.
Izumi: Perfect, thank you so much! Alright, glad to have you on the team, you guys!

Tumblr media
[name]'s a hard worker, really! but why aren't their sales going up? it's demotivating, really. you swear you've been trying your hardest! but as you constantly check for orders each morning just to be met with a big fat zero, it's really got you down. but you find it embarrassing. i mean, zero sales? it must mean your product sucks. so you don't tell anyone, you don't need them thinking you're some letdown loser who makes low quality goods! but what you can't hide is your sudden decrease in mood, the way you're constantly slumped when you sit down, the way you're more blunt than usual, all telltale signs that something happened to you. and knowing the type of person thoma is, he took notice of it almost immediately. but he didn't really wanna push it, it could be something personal, you know? he doesn't want to get in your way or hurt your feelings if it's a personal matter. so he shows he cares by keeping a close eye on you.
thoma will always do what he can to make people feel heard, or just comforted even if they don't want to talk about what's troubling them. so, you'll totally see him stopping by your house to make sure you're doing okay. you don't know why he's been more attentive to you, but as what you're going through right now, you don't complain. it's especially nice with him. each time he visits he always brings either an activity or a snack or food you may like. which he always chooses to make home made for you. he prefers that over buying stuff. just another way to show he really cares. but, after nearly a month of you just being sad, his heart ached too much and he had to pop the question. "[name], have you been alright lately?" his voice was gentle, in case it was a sensitive topic for you. a hand on your shoulder and his sapphire eyes looking at you with a sense of sincerity and the will to comfort. you spoke quietly, but not too quiet.
"..remember that business i started up? it's been doing awful recently. sales have been real low. it's awfully demotivating, you know?" you look up at him, a little embarrassed still, you just couldn't refuse to tell him! he just looks so eager to help you, you can just tell how badly it hurts him to see you like this. you can't just leave the poor boy hanging, now can you? he nods gently and speaks with a sense of understanding and kindness. "i understand. and i understand why that can be demotivating." he paused for a moment to think about his next words, not wanting to say the wrong thing. "i know what to do." you weren't too sure what he meant, but you were too upset to really give it a second thought. but you'd quickly come to realization when in a couple of days your sales seemed to have magically been rising. see, you took a short trip to liyue to do business things, and while you were gone, thoma held some massive promotion event, you're not sure of the details because he keeps it classified as a "secret only he can know." but either way, you're ecstatic!
while leisurely working on orders, you hear a sudden knock at the door. you walk to open it, thoma is there with a big grin on his face. he looks so goofy, but you could tell how excited he was. "guess what?" he eagerly asked, his hand behind his back not-so-sneakily. "what is it?" you asked, you were amused, really! it wasn't uncommon for thoma to appear out of nowhere, but he seemed extra excited to see you today. before you could finish his thought, a hand swiftly appeared from behind his back, flashing two concert tickets in your face. watching the way your eyes lit up was absolutely priceless. you were seeing one of your favorite artists, with thoma!
on concert day, you're in such a giddy mood it's laughable. when you and thoma arrive, in his nature, he gives you short reminders about your health and such, but as he is, he's got a bag of concert necessities. hydration being the most, water is important! thoma didn't exactly seem like the person to attend many concerts, which is why you were surprised when he knew exactly where the good spots were. thoma always pays attention to the details, which includes making sure he can only get the best for you. you're important to him, he wouldn't want you to be bummed out on your concert experience. even if he's not crazy into the artist, he still makes his reactions as expressive as yours may be. he cares about you, and wants to see you happy.
and that's what lets you know it'll all be okay in the end, as long as he's around.

[BSTS] Main Story Season 5 Finale ‘Owner’s Order’ - Part 5
Part 4
Tumblr media
Chapter 15
-starless hallway-
sotetsu: Yo, good work today, Lico. Your show was great.
lico: What? You were watching? That's surprising~ I thought you couldn't care less about the stage.
sotetsu: Do you think I’m Haseyama? If I wasn't interested in the stage, why would I still be working here? Anyways, you dropped your wallet in the locker rooms.
lico: Huh? No way, did I?
sotetsu: You did. I gave it to Unei-kun for safekeeping. You can't be dropping money on the floor whilst you still have a debt to pay off. Aren't you being a little too careless?
Tumblr media
lico: Shut up.
sotetsu: So, how close are you to paying it off?
lico: Pretty damn close. So you can piss off.
sotetsu: Well it's not my debt so it's not like it affects me either way. But if you don't start getting more bold about it you're gonna be stuck dancing in the palm of Haseyama’s hand forever.
lico: And what do you know about it?
sotetsu: I’ve never been in debt myself so I’m not sure but you either waiver or repay them in full. Kasumi knows a lot about that sort of thing.
lico: Kasumi does? Wouldn't have expected that. Are you telling me Mr. Mob of the Mobs is good with money?
sotetsu: Yeah, you can go and ask him for yourself. Though the fact he doesn't talk about it probably means he's trying to hide it.
lico: Probably. It would be a pain if the Owner found out about it too. And so? What else?
sotetsu: What do you mean?
lico: What merit was there in telling me this? I don't exactly trust any information or advice that’s coming from you.
sotetsu: Hahaha, you’ve gotten sharper, huh, Lico? I gain no direct benefit from it, I just l think it could lead to an interesting outcome.
Tumblr media
lico: Hm… I guess that suits you, your personality is rotten to the core. You're the type that finds stirring up drama between other people fun. You’re really not someone I wanna associate with. That's why I don't believe a single word that comes out of your mouth. Sorry, but I’m not in the mood to be your puppet.
sotetsu: That's the spirit. Don't forget to keep your guard up.
lico: God you're annoying!

Chapter 15 SideA
-haseyama’s office-
haseyama: Now then, what to do. There's a lot of ways to go about it… I suppose not being able to maintain a conversation is the most irritating part. I’ll start by overcoming that.
haseyama (on phone): Hi, it's me. Could you come to my room? As soon as possible. Hurry it up cause I hate waiting.
-time pass-
haseyama: You made it, Lico. I see your debt has decreased a tiny bit.
lico: What? The hell do you mean a ‘tiny bit’? I’ve paid back heaps.
Tumblr media
haseyama: That's true, you sure have been working hard. Even I can recognise that. However, the reality is that you still owe me. It hasn't been paid off fully yet. I’d love to be able to give you a raise in order for you to pay it back quicker.
lico: W-what? Are you being serious right now?
haseyama: Of course I am. I’ve looked through the records of when I wasn't here. You’ve really been doing a great job. Like shutting up a disagreeable Mizuki by winning a team versus against him, for example. It seems even customers outside of our regulars enjoyed that show.
lico: You're saying I’ve been doing well then? In that case–
haseyama: However! What I’m talking about here is just reviews, impressions. What I want to see is results. Like concrete proof that Team B has been making more money. While you yourself may be popular the profits haven't had any real jumps.
lico: …So sales is what you want. You think I don't know that already? Mizuki doesn't care about that sort of thing though.
haseyama: And so it comes back around to Mizuki again huh?
lico: He seriously doesn't understand just how many times I’ve had to cover for his ass. He’s a feral dog that's gotten off the leash. He seriously needs to get his act together and be more smart about things. Gaining the support of all the women in the audience is literally our job.
haseyama: Well, I’ve said all that I wanted to say. If Team B can become more profitable then even I will recognise those efforts. I’m sure that with the right person at the top Team B has the potential to make a lot of money. Just remember that if you’d like to earn that pay raise. That's all.
lico: I understand. You better not forget you made that offer.
-time pass, starless hallway-
lico: What the hell is that old man spouting so suddenly. It's freaking obvious that I’d want a raise. “With the right person at the top” huh…
Tumblr media
saki: Oh, Lico-san! There you are, we’ve been looking for you.
lico: What's the matter Kotori-chan? Were you looking forward to seeing me that badly?
-gui appears behind him-
gui: There you are, Lico.
lico: Uwah, holy shit!? Don't scare me like that!
gui: It's time for your hall shift. You weren't there so I needed to find you.
saki: I’m glad we found you. I hope your shift goes well, Lico-san. Do your best.
lico: Well I’ve got to now that I have you cheering for me, Kotori-chan. Let's go, I’ll escort you to the restaurant, I’ll tend to your every need today.

Chapter 15 SideB
-behind starless, night-
sin: Gui, what are you doing out here?
gui: Throwing out the trash.
sin: Is someone in that street over there?
gui: Sotetsu had to take a phone call.
sin: I see. You’ve already thrown the trash away then?
gui: Yeah. I’m done.
sin: Are you not heading back inside?
gui: Should I?
sin: No, we have enough hands today so it's not urgent.
gui: Then, I’ll stay out here a little longer.
sin: Hm. How come?
gui: How come… That means why… Are you asking why I want to stay out here?
Tumblr media
sin: Do you have any other reason to stay out here now that your errand has been completed?
gui: Reason… Because I want to. If you want to do something, then you should do it, that's what I’ve been told.
sin: Hm, that is indeed true. However, what I am asking is for what reason do you want to stay out here?
gui: Um... Because Sotetsu and Kasumi’s scents were strange.
sin: Now that you mention it, whenever I see them together even during rehearsals they're tense.
gui: Also, if Sotetsu doesn't go and get changed now he won't make it in time for the show.
sin: Another good point. Could you go and call Sotetsu over for me then?

Chapter 16
-rehearsal room-
rindou: Is anyone still here?
menou: Oh, Rindou. I thought you'd already gone home.
rindou: I was going to head home after quickly reviewing my lines. I didn't expect to find anyone still here.
menou: Do you want me to hand the room over? You're the centre in tomorrow's performance aren’t you?
rindou: It's fine, I can manage with half of the room. You're not done yet either are you?
menou: Okay. Let's go half and half then. Do you mind if I watch you for a bit though? Your Satan truly is interesting.
Tumblr media
rindou: Interesting in what way exactly?
menou: Well… Your Satan has a nobleness to him that resembles that of a fallen angel. With a heart full of resolve he defies heaven without regretting the result. Except, did something happen to you?
rindou: What do you mean?
menou: The other day your portrayal of Satan changed. I could sense a hint of regret from him. As if he regretted banishing the humans from the Garden of Eden. Or rather, that he regretted falling from heaven himself. This is what makes playing a role that was written for you so tough, isn't it? You can't run away from the nuances.
rindou: That's true. He… may have had his regrets. But that's why he has no choice but to face them. Because once you've fallen to hell, there's nowhere else left for you to go.
menou: Hmm…? Oh I know! Since we don't always get the chance, why don't we rehearse together?
rindou: What do you mean we don't always get the chance? We're on the same team… Also I wanted to practice by myself–
menou: Then how about I play Rapheal? That should work right?
rindou: You mean you can play our team’s version of Rapheal?
menou: Yeah, more or less. I’m curious to try it.
rindou: Well, I doubt I’ll be able to convince you otherwise. We can practice together for a bit then.
–end

Chapter 16 SideA
-starless restaurant area-
saki: Sorry for sitting around whilst you're busy closing up shop.
yoshino: It's fine, don't worry. I’ll be done in a moment, so you can relax. You're always coming to watch our shows and I always look forward to hearing your feedback afterwards.
menou: I’m used to there being a lot of different standard members. This event almost feels like a festival. Speaking of, which team do you want to win? The owner’s team or Kouichi-san’s team?
saki: Wha, you want me to answer that now?
menou: It's only Yoshino and I here, I don't see the problem.
yoshino: You can't ask her that, Menou.
menou: Hm~? How come? I like Kouichi-san’s team just as much as mine. Your singing sounds great, Yoshino, it's powerful. I wouldn't mind performing with either team~
yoshino: You're as free spirited as ever. We're not allowed to switch teams in this versus though. That's what makes it a versus performance.
menou: Hm, I suppose that's true… However it's not like the result of this versus involves us, so I don't see the point in getting fired up about it. So how about we also make a bet of our own? Like the owners did.
saki: What kind of bet?
menou: The winning team gets to choose the next show's programme and location. For example, every future show will be held at an onsen! We can tour the whole country visiting each and every onsen.
Tumblr media
yoshino: I’m sure you’d enjoy that, but I can't say the same for everyone else.
saki: Ahaha…
yoshino: I’m actually relieved that the bet is only between the owner and Iwami-san. There's no distractions to worry about, and I can focus solely on the stage. Plus, the show being here at Starless means Saki-san can commute easily.
saki: That's true.
menou: I didn't think of that, you're a genius Yoshino. I’d like Saki-chan to watch us too. I suppose I’ll satisfy my onsen cravings by visiting a local spa and do my best here at Starless.
yoshino: Yeah. Please keep cheering us on, Saki-san.
–end
-
Chapter 16 SideB
-starless hallway-
rindou: You're here today, Iwami-san.
iwami: Yeah. I figured I should check in on my team. The show was great today. The audience seemed to like it.
rindou: Thank you. While you're here, there's something I’d like to ask you.
iwami: Something you’d like to ask me?
rindou: Did you tell Nekome not to take the centre position?
iwami: Uh… Huh? What's this about Nekome?
rindou: In this performance Nekome’s opponent is Kokuyou. Nekome is our team leader, right? On the other team, Kokuyou is double casted as the centre, however on our team, Nekome is position number five. So, I was wondering why that is.
iwami: I’ve had no input whatsoever when it comes to the show itself. Rather I thought that's just how you guys decided it should be.
rindou: So that means Nekome decided it himself. But why…?
Tumblr media
iwami: His usual position is number five, right? Maybe he wanted to keep it that way.
rindou: This is Nekome we're talking about. It's likely he thought being the centre would be bothersome.
iwami: Well that's possible too. You never know with him. If that's all you wanted to ask then–
rindou: No, there's one other thing. For what reason did you return to the store? Why did you choose to return now?
iwami: Are you asking why I didn't return sooner? Sorry about that, it's my bad for abandoning you all.
rindou: What is Starless to you?
iwami: What Starless is to me is likely different from what it means to you.
rindou: Iwami-san…
iwami: I know I’ve caused you trouble, but I’ll be counting on you to win.
rindou: ……..

Chapter 17
-break room-
kokuyou: What’re you doing here?
nekome: I could ask you the same. Don't you have rehearsals?
kokuyou: They're all finished. All that's left is the real deal.
nekome: It only feels like the versus started yesterday and yet it's already drawing to a close.
kokuyou: (smoking) This shit isn't a versus performance. It's basically just a special show. A show between my double casting with Kei and Rindou and Mizuki’s show. A limited run of two shows, that's all it is.
nekome: Hm. You're surprisingly relaxed about it. You're more mature than I thought, Kokuyou.
kokuyou: Huh? You making fun of me?
nekome: I just find it interesting, that's all. In the past you would’ve jumped at the chance of a fight.
kokuyou: Look, I’ll be blunt, Nekome. This isn't a fight between you and me.
nekome: Huh? But it's a versus performance. And we're both the leaders of our teams.
kokuyou: The competition is between Haseyama and Kou-san. I just jumped on board Haseyama’s side.
nekome: When did you become a sophist?
kokuyou: Sophist? The hell does that mean? I’ve had it. Every single person here speaks in riddles. I’m sick of everyone skirting around the point.
nekome: So you're going to go around picking fights with everyone then? Even outsiders? Hahah! That's crazy, I’d expect no less from you, Kokuyou.
kokuyou: Don't make me pick one with you.
nekome: It's because you're like this that I left Starless to you. So thank you, Kokuyou. For protecting Starless all this time. If you win this versus, I’ll let you in on one secret that I know.
kokuyou: Huh? What are you saying now?
nekome: And if I win, then you have to tell me something. During ‘Abandon the Dawn’ what were you up to? And where were you? Yep yep, I’m feeling motivated now~ Bring it on, Kokuyou.
Tumblr media
kokuyou: I never said I’d take you on. But you better not go running away now, Nekome. I’ll pull you back by the scruff of your neck.
nekome: A competition is no fun without a bet after all. Best of luck.

Chapter 17 SideA
-starless back rooms-
haseyama: Hello there, young lady. Come with me to the stage wings, I need to wish my team leader well.
saki: Huh? You're going to?
haseyama: I’ve gotta visit my soldiers on the front lines. Come on, let's go.
-backstage-
haseyama: Yo, Mister Starless. I’ve come to check on you.
kokuyou: Piss off.
haseyama: My, how rude can he get? Right, young lady? He just told me to piss off.
saki: I’m sorry for interrupting you right before the show.
haseyama: What a thing to say after we took the time to come and see you, huh?
kokuyou: Damn, you're really annoying.
haseyama: Who is centre today?
kokuyou: Me. I'm the leader after all. Kei’s sitting in wait as backup.
haseyama: It's the closing show, so go and bag me that win, ok? Don't go slacking like your last show. I was this close to retiring Team W.
saki: What? You can't do that.
haseyama: I don't see why it should bother you, young lady. We have five teams, it's not like doing away with one would matter much.
saki: No!
kokuyou: Relax, it's not your fault. As if I’d let him get rid of us. Say, Haseyama. You sure are getting old, you keep repeating yourself. Moreover, you should be grateful and treat me with some respect. I’m about to win this thing for you after all.
Tumblr media
haseyama: The heck, being a bit condescending there don't you think?
kokuyou: If I wasn't there when this all started you would’ve had to beg Kei to be your team leader.
haseyama: Agh!?
kokuyou: I know this store and us cast members are nothing but tools to you, but this is Starless. A place where the audience can watch our shows. And I’ll prove that to you. No, we’ll prove it to you. You look forward to it too, Saki.

Chapter 17 SideB
-starless lobby-
iwami: You’ve come to watch too have you, little lady? Looking forward to Nekome’s team’s show?
saki: Oh, you're here too, Iwami-san.
iwami: I figured I’d see them off before the closing show. Want to come with me?
-backstage-
nekome: Oh, Saki-chan~ I’m so happy to see you.
iwami: Oi oi don’t just act like I’m invisible. I came to wish you well too.
Tumblr media
nekome: Oh, thanks. Anyways, I hope you enjoy tonight’s show, Saki-chan. Our centre has been decided too. I've left it to Mizuki tonight, he’s been managing to pull off a more adult appeal lately.
iwami: Has he? He doesn't seem any different to me.
nekome: You don't get it at all~ Well, you’ll just have to see for yourself in the audience.
iwami: It's the closing show, so make sure it's good. You can't go slacking off either Nekome. You may not be the centre but you're still our team leader.
nekome: How rude, I’m always 100% serious.
iwami: Then prove it once the curtain rises. The little lady will be watching too. Still… When I look at it from here, Starless really has become one respectable place.
saki: That's because everyone's been working really hard.
nekome: The ones who made it this way weren't you or me, but the members that were left behind.
iwami: True true. I handed the place over to Haseyama and then Kei arrived.
nekome: Hahah, it's been one turbulent development after another.
iwami: It's not what I had planned. To begin with I never intended for this place to be a show restaurant either…
nekome: An old man wallowing in nostalgia, oh how it makes my heart hurt.
iwami: Shut up you.
nekome: Both the store and the cast members may be different now compared to the ones you knew in the past. But this is the Starless of the present. Right, Saki-chan? I hope you enjoy the show, I’ll dedicate it to you once again.

I don’t get the concept here where this fandom thinks Taylor is not in charge of her own PR or why she is getting in her jet to fly to KC . She is rich beyond anyone’s dreams and ppl want to believe she is doing this for money?
Anon.
I don’t get the concept here where that fandom thinks Taylor is solely in charge of her own PR or why it’s news she is getting in her jet to fly to KC. She is rich beyond anyone’s dreams and people have to believe she’s a specific way that appeases them so she can make money and be successful.
If Taylor were solely in charge of her own PR, then why exactly does Tree Paine have a job? Public relations is literally the job of her publicist. Taylor is her boss, yes, but Tree is responsible for how she appeals and relates to the public.
We typically don’t exactly know why she is in her jet flying anywhere unless it’s for a tour stop because that’s already public knowledge. However, we can assume if it’s Florida, it’s to see her father. If it’s Nashville, it’s to see her mother or maybe even Abigail. If it’s New York or LA, she’s going to her own house or working. However, every time we’ve seen an article that she flew to KC, these websites by default attach it to Travis.
And we literally see an article every single time she goes to Kansas City. Every day there’s a new detail of this “relationship” we didn’t ask for.
That’s your first example of PR here.
I need you and others to grasp the concept that PR isn’t always based around money. PR is mainly for image reasons. If a celebrity has a scandal come about, you almost always see how People or ET for example will say they reached out to that celebrity’s team and they either didn’t respond or did not offer comment.
Travis JUST signed to CAA in May for off the field representation. He is building an expanded brand for when he retires from football. He’s 34. That’s “old” for his position in the NFL. So ask yourself—why does a 2 time Super Bowl champion (his last championship being won this past February)
Did you even watch Miss Americana? Where her Dad and another person on her team tried to gaslight her by using a potential decrease in ticket sales to stop her from talking about politics? Guess why—because PR has taught you that Taylor Swift™️ does not talk about politics.
PR taught you for 6 years that she was “extremely private” with Joe, but you always got an article before one of their projects released, right? Either the day of, or the day before Midnights was released, what picture just so happened to be released?
Taylor and Joe in NYC furniture shopping.
Remember how it was dead silent before CWF was released but a month or so before, engagement rumors popped up? Because PR had to make him seem interesting enough during his promo for the show.
Before the Reputation Tour arrived on Netflix—PR gave you pictures of Taylor and Joe with his friends in NYC on NYE.
PR is what got you the pictures of them on the balcony in Nashville before the rep tour started when paparazzi don’t camp in Nashville. Which you know because most country artists live in Nashville and you never see them unless they’re papped in LA or NYC.
PR relationships have always existed, but for some reason, y’all seem to think it’s beneath Taylor to engage in them.
So yes, she is “rich beyond anyone’s dreams”, but at what cost? Because PR is why y’all can’t fathom that she could possibly be queer—because to most people, she doesn’t “look” queer.
Not to mention, given all PR has taught us about her for the past 17 years, you have to question why this Travis situation is so odd and sloppy. No one really who Travis is outside of football—but now they know him as “Taylor Swift’s boyfriend” and now everyone wants to capitalize, right?

barnes and noble has been raising the prices of everything and further pushing for their premium membership option (which they raised the price of by 60 percent this year!) and then when they have big sales events, they're less than what they used to be.
last year at this time you could get one of their leather-bound book annex tomes for $12.50 (without a member discount) because of the 50 percent off all hardcover sales. but they raised the price of those tomes from 25 bucks to 30, and they decreased the sale from 50 percent off all hardcovers to 1/3rd off. so that same book that was $12.50 at last year's end-of-year sale is now 20 bucks. and that's supposed to be savings enough to induce me to walk into one of their stores this week?
i'm sorry but b&n has just gotten so greedy, even though their business has only been doing better and better in previous years. they do not have to be raising prices like they have been, and they can damn well afford to have the same savings events they used to. if you went to one of those hardcover sales a year or two ago, even if you lived in a less populated area like i do, you had never seen a b&n so busy in your life. things were flying off the shelves. they WERE making bank.
and as a company they've only been growing and growing (as much as the publishing industry has been, in recent years). but there are so many other ways to buy books. CHEAPER ways to buy books. MORE SUSTAINABLE ways to buy books. and since books and booksellers are doing really well right now, i don't see why barnes and noble is getting so greedy when they don't have to be. i dont like new shiny books that much. people buy books for the content, ultimately. sometimes we as consumers might make the choice that a new shiny book is worth paying a bit more for, but not that much. barnes and noble has just been demanding more and more of their customers' money for less and less benefit.
#kaily and i shared a membership account for several years but she cancelled it over the summer#bc of them raising it from 25 dollars per year to 40. i'm sorry but we just were not spending enough to make that worth it#the benefits for a member used to be 10 percent off everything in-store and free shipping online.#now it's 10 percent off everything in-store AND online with free shipping. which sounds good enough#but not for a 60 percent pricehike. and a bunch of other supposed benefits no one would ask for#like a free tote (geez. thanks. yeah i really need a free tote every year) and like. a free treat at a cafe on your kids' birthday?#i dont have a kid.#between the two of us. we were not buying 400 dollars worth of stuff at b&n every year#oh and it's also 10 percent off the in-store starbucks. but im pretty sure that USED to be a benefit they had#years ago?? like i SWEAR ive gotten money off at the b&n starbucks so i guess they got RID of that at some point#and gave it BACK when they HIKED UP THE PRICE TO 40 BUCKS A YEAR#text post#barnes and noble#it's a shame bc where i live. barnes and noble is the only like fancy bookstore#and i live in an area that my barnes and noble... is like. what a boston barnes and noble eats for breakfast.#it's two floors. there are plenty of books that it doesn't have. plenty of sections that are very small#like the poetry section is just pathetic. i look at it every time i go and it just makes me sad.#i guess a lot of the book annex stuff contains poetry but still that's not really enough to entertain a rich interest in the genre for long#i outgrew the limited selection at my own local b&n poetry section by the time i was twenty. i was like i already know everything here.#which isn't to say i'm an expert in poetry. it's to say that the poetry section is barely bigger than a shelf#in fact ive never thought about it before but I OWN more poetry books than you'll find in the poetry section#at my local b&n. lol#i have a lot of nostalgia for b&n even though it is a big company that does not love me. i have very few books i bought new#that are not from barnes and noble. i got so many books that changed my life from them#i guess it's like a childhood/teenage attachment at this point bc ive had more mixed feelings abt the direction theyve been taking#for several years at this point.#and no i dont mean that theyve been expanding to selling more toys/games etc. theyve literally always done that in my lifetime. who cares.#they still have books#as an adult ive been more capable of seeing how limited their book selection is and how i have so many problems w that.#and it ultimately comes down to them being a big greedy company

Genre: Head chef! Seokjin, Head baker! Y/N, strangers to lovers!, Ex- Namjoon!, Yoongi is their number one shipper, Jin is very obvious, fluff, romance, little angst, comedy, and smut
Summary: Seokjin is the head chef and owner of Empathy in the heart of Seoul. Everything was perfect until his head baker retired leaving him to scramble. His head waiter, Yoongi, brings in his friend for the position and Jin hires her on the spot. After her desserts become a sell-out on the first night, Jin becomes interested in the girl. Everyone needs a little spice in their lives....
Warnings: Namjoon is an asshole!
Authors note: Very fun to write!
“Spicy beef bone soup with extra rice for table 6!”
Kim Seokjin hit the bell as quickly as he could and went back to his pan to saute his onions. It was a busy Saturday and everyone was at Empathy for dinner. Nothing new to him. He felt blessed that in his late thirties he achieved his childhood dream, well his second dream. The first dream was to get married and so far, that hasn’t happened yet. He wasn’t looking for anyone. If it happens then it happens was his mindset.
He placed the onions on the plate with the ribs and he looked up towards his head baker, Levi Cooner, “Levi, did you finish the black forest cake for table 20!?”
“Placing the cherry on now, chef.”
“Alright, is the carrot cake about done for table 2?”
“Yes, chef. In about ten minutes.”
Jin nodded and picked up the plate of ribs and hit the bell. He smiled when he saw Yoongi making his way to the plate, “Still busy, Yoon?”
“Yeah, too many people...it’s annoying.”
Jin let out a small laugh and shook his head, “You work at a restaurant, there’s going to be people no matter what.”
“Yeah, that’s the annoying part, chef boy.”
He grabbed the plate and left the kitchen with Jin seeing the tall silver doors flapping away. He let out a quick sigh and turned towards his workers with a smile, “We’re doing great this dinner rush! Let’s keep it up!”
“Yes chef!”
Jin went inside his office to check out the financial part for the day so far. He hated numbers but he didn’t want to call Jungkook for help. He always acted so smug towards him because it was clear he was good with numbers. He would hope he was good at numbers, he’s a banker afterall.  He turned on his computer and went into his program with his radio playing in the background. He liked listening to the gossip in the restaurant world, it made him laugh during his down time, “And what is your name?”
“Umm...my name is L/N Y/N...”
“How do you feel about the famous pastry chef Isaac calling it quits?”
“Eh? He didn’t quit, he’s literally my mentor.”
Jin raised his eyebrow and glanced at the radio, “chef Isaac...Isaac...Oh, Isaac Kristiansen. There’s no way he would retire, he’s a teacher? That’s funny.” Jin leaned forward and turned the radio up and leaned back into his chair.
“But the rumors-”
“I mean I wished the rumors were true. He made me make these chocolate figures at five in the morning but sadly no, he’s not quitting.”
“Is this an official statement, Mrs. L/N?”
“Official statement? I just wanted to get coffee...I guess it's a statement. An official statement though, I’m not the president or the queen so no. Have a good day.~”
“Wait, Mrs. L/N!”
Jin let out a small laugh and shut off the radio. He rubbed the back of his neck and glanced back to his computer, the numbers were doing good but the desserts were lacking in sales. It was the fourth week in a row that he saw the decrease in it. He sighed and heard a knock on the door, “Come in.”
The door opened to reveal to his Executive chef, his brother with a small smile, “Why are you in here?”
“Just checking on the sales.”
Seok Joong raised his eyebrow and let out a low laugh, “Didn’t I tell you to stop doing that. You’re needed out here, worry about the numbers later.”
“But hyung-”
“No buts. Go cook.”
Jin pouted and nodded his head. He put his computer to sleep and walked away from his desk. He looked at Seok Joong with a raised eyebrow, “Wait, why are you here? You have a newborn.”
“Wanted to check on you, little bro. Also my wife wanted cheesecake and started crying for it, so...here I am.”
“Ah, okay. Hurry up and get it so you can go back to her.”
Seok Joong nodded his head and ruffled his brother's hair, “You go cook, that’s where your heart is. Not on numbers. You failed math.”
Jin glared at him and slapped his hand away, “I failed twice...that’s it. Go get your damn cheesecake.”
Later that night, everything was closed and Jin was in his office. Going through all the reports for that day. The light above him turned on and he jumped in his chair to see Yoongi leaning against the door frame with a lit cigarette in his mouth. Jin glared at him and looked back at his computer, “What did I say about smoking in my office?”
“I’m outside of it. Jimin and Taehyung are going to the bar, are you going?”
“No, I have to finish this report? Is Hoseok and Jungkook going?”
“Yeah, they are.”
“What about you?”
Yoongi let out a puff of smoke and shook his head, “No, I have to pick up my friend. She just got back from Norway.”
Jin raised his eyebrow and looked at Yoongi over his monitor, “You knew someone who went to Norway?”
“She was training there to be a pastry chef and shit. It’s been about...five years since I last saw her.”
“Is she your girlfriend?”
Yoongi choked on his smoke and glared at Jin, “No, don’t ever say that. She’s my best friend. Anyways, see you later.”
“See you tomorrow, Yoon!”
Jin waved towards Yoongi while Yoongi nodded his head at him. He watched Yoongi leave and looked down at this keyboard with a curious look, “Best friend...I never heard of her before...”
Yoongi parked his car in the parking lot of the park he used to play when he was younger. He got out of his car and shut the door, making sure it was all locked up. With his hands in his pocket he made his way into the park. He scanned the park and his eyes landed on the person he had to pick up. He rolled his eyes and made his way towards her, “Why the fuck am I picking you up here? You look homeless.”
She looked up and pouted at him. She crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head, “This is where we first met, I thought it would be special if we met here again.”
“Chessy.”
“Oh but you love that.” She sat up and opened her arms wide to the man, “Give me a hug Yoongi!”
“Y/N shut up it’s night time.”
“Just admit you missed me...”
“Shut up.”
∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘
The morning sun burned Jin’s eyes, it was too early to be bright. He unlocked Empathy’s door and stretched his body. He quickly closed the door and headed to his office trying to wipe the tiredness from his eyes. He put his bags on the floor and turned his computer to go through emails. He couldn’t get any sleep last night, he was curious about Yoongi’s best friend. He didn’t have many friends so it caused him to be curious. He went through his facebook and instagram to see if there was anything about her but nothing. Yoongi was a private person and he barely posted on his accounts. He just wanted to know who she was and he didn’t really care if he looked crazy. How the hell did Yoongi have a best friend?
He shook his head and took out his water bottle from his bag, “I wonder if she's like Yoongi...oh god, having two Yoongi’s. I can barely handle one.”
Yoongi entered the restaurant as he let out a small cough. Jin immediately stood up from his seat and headed towards him. Yoongi wiped off the dust on his jacket and looked back up to see Jin looking at him with curious eyes. He raised his eyebrow at him, “Can I help you?”
“Who is she?”
“Why do you want to know?”
“How could you have a best friend?” Yoongi glared at him and walked past him as Jin went after him, “It’s just...you hate people.”
“She’s been my friend since I was in diapers, if anything she’s my sister. An annoying sister.”
Jin nodded his head and watched Yoongi place his things in his locker. He leaned against the wall and looked at the ceiling, “Is she older than me?”
“No, she's the same age.”
“Aww, so she’s your big sister.”
Yoongi felt his eyes twitch and looked at Jin with an annoyed look, “Why are you so curious about her?”
Jin shrugged his shoulders and looked at him, “I’m just shocked you knew someone outside our friend group...I was curious and then you said best friend, I had to know more.”
“She’s my best friend and she might come by today. I don't know though, she wanted to look at the local cafes, saying she needed to see the cakes.”
“Where is she staying?”
“With me.”
“Are you sure she’s not your girlfriend?”
“Jin, if you don’t move I will kick you in your nuts.”
The morning was slow but that’s how it always is. Lunch was when it almost always started to pick up. Jin was in the kitchen working on a sandwich when his phone started to buzz in his pocket. He sighed and hurried up to finish the sandwich, hitting the bell. He walked towards his office and picked up the phone, “Hello?”
“Ah, Jin.”
Jin raised his eyebrow and leaned against the wall, “Hyung, why are you calling me?”
“I’m just reminding you that next week, we’re having a family dinner. Eomma wants to celebrate Nora’s birth.”
“Eomma told you to do this, didn’t she?”
“Yeah, we all know how busy you’ve been. Anyways, see you later.”
“Bye.”
Jin sighed and rubbed the back of his neck roughly, “I forgot...shit.”
Y/N entered the busy atmosphere and her eyes widened to see Yoongi talking in a soft voice to customers. It was cute and it was rare for him to use that voice. She let out a small laugh and continued to stare at him with a teasing look. It wasn’t until Yoongi glanced at her and glared at her that she stopped staring and walked back outside. Yoongi quickly told one of the waiters what the table wanted and headed outside to see Y/N leaning against the wall.
“I’m shocked to see you.”
She tilted her head at him and raised her eyebrow, “I told you I would visit.”
“You said that you were going to look at the cakes, there’s no way in hell you saw all the cakes already.”
She let out a low chuckle and nodded her head, “You're right on that...I saw Namjoon.”
Yoongi's face softened and gently grabbed her hand, “Are you okay?”
“He didn’t see me but I saw him. He was with Eunah.”
“The fact he can walk around and feel-”
“Min-Min...”
Yoongi looked at her sad eyes and nodded his head, she hated talking about her ex, “I’m sorry. I just hate what he did to you.”
“He seems happy.”
“Y/N he doesn’t deserve happiness after what he did to you. Stop being your kind self and be spiteful for once.”
She rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around Yoongi’s waist as he gently rubbed her back, “It’s not fair that he gets a happy ending...while I’m still affected by him.”
“Do you still love him?”
“Oh hell no. It just hurts, that’s all. It’s not because of love it's because, how could you do that to someone, does that make sense?”
“No it does...I can always call Jungkook to beat him up.”
She let out a small laugh and shook her head. She let go of Yoongi and stared up at the sky, “I need to see him. I missed my little bun.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes at the nickname (a habit that you’ve had since you were a kid), “He missed you too, trust me. Go see him, he’s probably at his apartment playing games with Jimin.”
“Bun and chicky...Okay, I’ll go see them. I’ll see you tonight at dinner? Taehyung wanted to plan it.”
“Yeah, I’ll see you tonight. Text me when you get to Jungkook’s.”
“Yes, sir.”
He watched her go back to her car and let out a small laugh. She was annoying but he sadly loved it. He walked back into the restaurant heading to the kitchen to get a quick sip of water. Jin put his noodles in the boiling water and went to Yoongi, “Where did you go?”
“I was talking to someone...”
“She was here!! And I missed her!!”
Jin went to go into the dinner room but Yoongi grabbed the back of his chef jacket, “She’s not there. She went to Jungkook’s to say hi.”
“Wait, she knows Jungkook!?”
“Yeah, she babysat him when we were younger. Jimin also loves her.”
“What the hell!? Does the whole group know her!?”
Yoongi shrugged his shoulders and placed his bottle back into his locker, “You and Hoseok are the only ones that haven’t met her.”
“That’s not fair, Yah! Yoongi stop walking away from me!”
∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘
Jin sat in his office a couple of days later, with a stressed out look. Levi, dropped a bomb on him last night. He was retiring and it was his last night. Jin was stressed (so stressed that he started cooking Italian food, something he only does when he's stressed). Today was Friday, meaning that it was going to be busy at dinner which also means, people want desserts. Guess what he doesn’t have, a fucking pastry chef or even a head baker. He now understood why Yoongi smokes.
He took a sip of his coffee and roughly ran his fingers through his hair when a knock on his door. Speaking of Yoongi, “Yoon, I can’t handle your sarcasm right now.”
Yoongi raised his eyebrow and leaned against the doorframe, “Why, what’s wrong?”
“Levi, retired.”
“Oh...that sucks.”
Jin let out a laugh and looked up at Yoongi, “Yeah it does suck. Thanks for reminding me of that.”
“I can ask my friend to come over and help.”
Jin stood up from his chair and looked at Yoongi with wide eyes, “Y-YOU WOULD DO THAT FOR ME!”
Yoongi flinched at his loudness and pinched the bridge of his nose, “Lower your voice.”
“Sorry, you would do that for me, Yoon?”
“Yeah, I can just text her right now. She’s just at my apartment playing with Holly.”
Jin smiled and walked up to Yoongi as the younger man looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Jin went down to his knees and wrapped his arms around Yoongi’s waist, “Thank you Yoon!”
“I will report this to HR in five seconds.”
Y/N entered the empty restaurant and looked around for her friend. She entered the kitchen and looked around the fancy kitchen. Everything was shiny, Isaac’s kitchen was old but damn did it cook shit good. She continued to walk further into the kitchen until she ran into a hard chest. She felt herself getting flushed and looked up to see a handsome man with warm brown eyes, “I-I’m so sorry. I wasn’t looking, I was looking for Min Yoongi.”
“Oh, are you his friend?”
“Yes, I’m L/N Y/N.”
Jin eyebrow raised and tilted his head at her, she was so tiny compared to him. Her hair looked soft with the way she styled it and her eyes captured him completely. She was really fucking pretty. He let out a small cough and nodded his head as he rubbed his neck, “Yoon-Yoongi is near the lockers. Let me show you.”
“Oh thank you...what’s your name?”
“Kim Seokjin but you can call me Jin or chef.”
“Chef Jin...I like Jinnie.”
His face felt red and he quickly turned around so she couldn’t see the blush on his face, “Follow me.”
“Okay Jinnie.”
Jinnie, how can she call me that with a straight face? Jin shook his head and glanced over his shoulder to see her looking at him with a raised eyebrow. He quickly let out a loud cough and started walking causing her to laugh a bit. They walked towards the front and turned a corner where she saw Yoongi drinking from his bottle. She ran past Jin and went to Yoongi.
“Min-Min, you woke me up! Since I’m the baker for you tonight, are you going to try my stuff now?”
Yoongi raised his eyebrow and put his bottle back inside his locker, “As long as it’s not burnt, then yes.”
“I burned one cake, I was ten!”
“It was still burnt.”
Jin tilted his head at the scene before him. It was weird to see Yoongi like this. He was still his hard-headed self but he was somehow softer? The woman before him can make Yoongi softer, she has to be a witch. Jin let out a small cough and she turned to look at him, “I’ll show you the menu. Its-”
“Oh...I made my own menu.”
“Eh? Can I see the menu?”
She nodded her head and opened her purse with excitement. She took out a piece of paper and handed it to the chef, “I made it as soon as Yoongi called me. I just got so excited to come and bake.”
Jin smiled at her and looked at the paper; (Queen’s Garden) Apple tart, tart crust that has rose syrup glazed around the rims. Apples in the shape of roses in the middle with honey, lemon, and a pinch of rose. To finish it off, the plate will have rose petals on the side of the plate.
(Cloud 9) Souffle Pancakes with red bean paste; two souffle pancakes stacked on each other with maple syrup barely coating the top with a dollop of homemade honey butter. To finish it off, whip cream with two sesame seed tuile in the cream and edible flowers. Extra honey butter on the side.
(Tangy Tang) Lemon semifreddo with a raspberry curd; the first layer; pralines, the second layer (ice cream layer) meringue and heavy cream, the third layer; genoise, and the fourth layer raspberry curd. To finish it off, zest from a lemon and dried lemon slices.
(Checkmate) Vanilla and chocolate checkerboard cake; chocolate and vanilla sponge cake, chocolate ganache, and a vanilla bean whip cream. To finish it off, a chocolate rose
Jin glanced at the paper and then back at Y/N, “Isn’t this difficult?”
“It’s basically the same thing I did for chef Issac when he was my mentor.”
His eyes widened and looked at her, “CHEF ISSAC WAS YOUR MENTOR! YOU'RE HIRED”
She blinked her eyes and slowly nodded her head, “That’s why I was in Norway.”
He blinked his eyes and looked between the paper and her, “Y-Your amazing!”
She let out a small laugh as she wasn’t used to being flattered by a handsome guy, “Thank you, I do try my best.”
Yoongi glanced at Jin and let out a small laugh. He shook his head, shut his locker and started to walk away from them, “Y/N, follow me so I can show you my station.”
“Okay, Min-Min.”
Jin watched her leave and she turned back to give him a quick wave. He felt his heart beat faster at her smile. He quickly turned away and slapped his cheeks lightly, “You just met her...stop it.”
Yoongi showed her the workspace and looked at her with a small smile, “So, what do you think of my boss?”
“He’s very animated. That’s fun.”
He let out a small chuckle and nodded his head, “I guess you can say that. Is that a good thing?”
“It’s good, I like it. It’s the opposite of you.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes and looked down at her menu, “I want to try cloud 9.”
“Really? Awww, Yoongi, you want to try my food~.”
“Shut up...yes I do.”
The morning quickly turned into night and that means the dinner rush is coming. Jin was extremely nervous about this one because Y/N was here. He did not doubt her ability, it was just her being her that made him nervous. All day she was giving him bits and pieces of her dessert and they were the best thing he has ever tasted. The way it just melted in his mouth and exploded with flavor, it was amazing. The thing that made him nervous was her smile. The way she would call him Jinnie, it was fucking cute. She was cute and he couldn’t focus. So, he moved her station to be behind him instead of being in front of him.
He was cutting his chicken in the midst of the rush when Yoongi came in with a smile. Jin raised his eyebrow at him, “What’s going on?”
“I got so many orders for Y/N’s desserts.”
“What!? There have barely been orders for dinner.”
“Aren’t you happy that people want the desserts? You kept telling me it wasn’t selling and now look.”
Jin nodded his head and glanced over his shoulders to see Y/N whistling to herself while whipping cream and mixing her curd. It’s been a while since the desserts were a hit with everyone, even the staff liked them.
“Jin? Did you hear me?”
He stopped looking at Y/N and looked at Yoongi who had a small smirk, “What did you say?”
“I said, how about you tell Y/N her desserts are doing good. I have to go back outside.”
Before Jin could say anything, Yoongi walked out to the floor. Jin sighed to himself and rubbed the back of his neck. He slowly turned around and saw Y/N trying some whipped cream. He was at a standstill. The way he licked her lips as the white cream coated her lips, was a sight to see. He let out a small cough and walked up to her making her look at him with a smile, “Hey Jinnie.”
“H-Hey. Your desserts are doing good, people ordering your stuff more than my own food. Good job.”
“That’s good, I’m glad people like my desserts. Did you like them too?”
He let out a small laugh and nodded his head, “My favorite is Tangy Tang. I like the bitterness and sweetness, it’s a well-balanced dessert.”
“Thank you, it means a lot hearing it from you.”
Jin smiled at this and leaned against the counter. He nervously scratched his forehead and looked at the whipped cream, “I was wondering...next week I have a party with my family. Would...I mean can you...no, can you please make the desserts for the party?”
“A family party? Is it for an engagement? That’s the only time my family gets together.”
“My brother just had a daughter, Nora.”
She placed the dried lemon slices on top of the semifreddo and smiled to herself, “Aww, a baby. I’ll make some cupcakes for you guys.”
“Well, I was wondering if you could...if you could stay for the party with me?”
She glanced up at him and gave him a teasing smile, “Like a date?”
“I-I mean if you want...I’m not-”
“I would love to, Jinnie.”
“Really!? I mean, that’s cool. Alright, I’ll go to my side to make some chicken or whatever I need to make.”
He turned around and whispered to himself a small yes. He went back to his station and glanced over his shoulder to see Y/N already looking at him. She gave him a small wave and went back to what she was doing. Yoongi leaned against the wall and smiled to himself, at his planned work.

Y/N sat in Taehyung’s living room as she watched Jungkook and Jimin play their game. She wasn’t sure what they were playing but it was more entertaining to watch them argue than the screen. It was the third night that she worked at Empathy and everything was going well. Well, somewhat good. It wasn’t until Yoongi rushed to his locker and told her that he saw Namjoon with Eunah. She asked for the night off and Jin was nice enough to let her.
She sighed and took a sip of her water with a frown. She hated Namjoon but there was a time that she loved him. She was with him for seven years and was engaged for two. He was her college sweetheart and everything was perfect. They were even planning their wedding but it wasn’t until Yoongi walked in on a conversation between Namjoon and at the time her best friend Eunah talking about taking the money from the wedding and running away. She let Yoongi and Jungkook punch him and after that, she left for Norway.
Seeing him still made her angry but she wasn’t in love with him anymore. In the first two years of being away, she finally came to that conclusion. Taehyung placed the plate of chicken on his coffee table and looked at Y/N with a concerned look, “Are you alright?”
“I’m...thinking.”
“That’s good, especially for you.”
Taehyung sent a small glare to Jungkook and looked back at Y/N, “About what?”
“Namjoon.”
Things got quiet in the room and the game was long forgotten. Everyone looked at her with concerned looks as she looked at the water drops going down her glass, “Noona, you shouldn’t think of him.”
“I know, I just...I don't know what to do. I want to hit and scream at him but that wouldn’t do anything for me. I really want to slap Eunah though.”
Jimin let out a small chuckle and nodded his head, “That makes sense. I think we would let you do that.”
“Noona we should go out.”
She raised her eyebrow at Jungkook and tilted her head, “Where?”
“Let’s go to the bar like how we used to!”
“You guys know I don’t really drink.”
“Jin-hyung has this low-key bar we can go to.”
Y/N turned her head towards Jimin with wide eyes, “Jinnie owns a bar?”
“It’s a small bar...Also, Jinnie.”
Y/N rolled her eyes and looked at the wall, “Yes, I already gave him a nickname...would he be there?”
“I can always text Yoongi to bring him to the bar-”
“NO DON’T DO THAT!”
“I can say that Y/N specifically wanted him to be there.”
“Don’t-”
“Already did it.”
She whipped her head and looked at Taehyung with her mouth open, “You betrayed me...”
“You need dick.”
“I DO NOT!”
The group moved to the bar with Y/N sitting at the edge of the table with a nervous look. Why would she be nervous? It’s just seeing her boss in a bar, that’s a problem. If she liked her boss then this can raise concerns with HR. Hopefully this is just a dumb crush that can be easily washed away. Jin was handsome and charismatic, he was also funny. All the traits you would want in a person. It’s only been three days and he made her feel nervous but she knew how to hide that. Hopefully Yoongi didn’t notice her actions.
“Sorry we were late.”
She looked up and she stared at Jin who was already looking at her with a smile. He was wearing a suit and it made him look more mature, something she thought was hot. He even had glasses on, how could he be so hot under this bar lighting. She shook her head and stood up to give Yoongi a hug, “I missed you...”
“Are you alright? Jimin told me you were thinking.”
She let out a low laugh and nodded her head. She glanced at Jin who was talking to Jungkook, “I’m fine now.”
Yoongi followed her eyes and smiled to himself, “He missed your desserts today.”
“Who?”
“Jin. Go talk to him, since you wanted him here so bad.”
“Shut up.”
She walked past Yoongi and he let out a laugh when Taehyung came up to him, “She’s clueless.”
“Yeah, she is.”
She walked up to him and Jungkook immediately walked away so they could have alone time. Jin smiled at her and took a sip of his beer. She smiled at him and leaned against the wall, “How was today?”
“It was busy but people were sad that there was no dessert today.”
She bit her lip and nodded her head, “I’m sorry about that...”
“No, no. It’s fine. I was just wondering if you were okay.”
“Yeah, I’m okay. It’s just me giving people too much power.”
Jin raised his eyebrow and put his glass down, “Is it an ex?”
“Oh, an ex and an ex best friend.”
“Together, that’s even worse. I’m sorry Y/N.”
She shrugged her shoulders and looked down at his glass, “I’ve moved on...trust me, I have.”
He smiled to himself and glanced down at the table with a flustered look, “T-That’s good.”
The rest of the guys looked at them with smirks on their faces. Jimin looked at Taehyung with a mischievous look, “I bet you 50 dollars that they would be together by the end of the month.”
“I think three months and they won’t be together, just going on dates. Y/N likes to be courted, right, Yoongi?”
“Jimin, you're going to lose money but go ahead.”
∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘
Jin stood in his family home staring at himself in the mirror with a nervous look. He wanted to look good, Y/N was coming to head out her cupcakes and she was his date. He didn’t tell anyone that she was his date, he knew his family would make this a big deal and he didn’t want them to scare her away. He fixed his black shirt and walked downstairs to see his brother holding Nora. He smiled at the baby and opened his arms towards the baby, “Nora, want to come to uncle.”
Nora let out a small gurgling noise and showed off her gums. Jin’s brother smiled and handed the baby to him. Jin kissed her cheek and Seok Joong gave him a small smirk, “So, when is Y/N coming?”
Jin choked on his spit and looked at him with wide eyes, “How do you know about that!?”
“You do realize I have Yoongi’s number right.”
“That bas-”
“Don’t finish that sentence Jin.”
Jin turned his head to see his mother glaring at him and he felt sweat forming on his forehead. His mother took Nora out of his arms and gave the little girl a kiss on the forehead, “Dawon wants to see her baby, behave boys.”
Seok Joong let out a small laugh and watched their mother leave. He leaned forward with a small smirk, “So, how do we feel about Y/N?”
“S-She’s cute.”
“Yoongi told me you tried helping her with her cakes. You hate baking.”
Jin rolled his eyes, “I never said I hated baking.”
“Jin, you burn everything when you bake.”
“Yah! Stop it.”
Seok Joong frowned and pointed his finger at him, “If you're serious about her, you need to figure out her position in the restaurant. She’s your employee, remember that.”
Jin sighed and nodded his head, “I know hyung, it’s just a crush. I swear, it will go away.”
“Even if it doesn’t, just make sure you handle it before it gets worse.”
“It won’t get worse, hyung.” He felt his phone buzz in his pocket and he quickly took it out to see that it was Y/N telling him that she was there. Jin smiled but he quickly wiped it off when his brother gave him that knowing look, “It won’t get worse.”
Seok Joong watched Jin rush out of the room and shook his head, “It's gonna get worse, that boy is head over heels for her already.”
Jin opened his front door and smiled when he saw Y/N getting out of the car with boxes in her hand. He felt his chest get heavy when he saw her outfit, she looked beautiful. She was wearing a light pink cami dress with butterflies scattered around on the dress. Her hair was pinned back showing off her silver butterflies hoops and matching necklace. She looked up and waved at him, “Jinnie, can you help me?”
Jinnie shook his head and nodded his head. She looked beautiful but I can’t focus on that. She's much more than her beauty. He walked up to her and grabbed the boxes with ease, “You have so many boxes Y/N.”
“I didn’t know how many cupcakes you needed, so I made five boxes worth.”
“I appreciate this, Y/N. Thank you so much.”
She smiled and grabbed a colorful box, “No problem Jinnie. I get to spend time with you.”
He let out a nervous laugh and looked down at the colorful box with a raised eyebrow, “What's that?”
“I got Nora a plushie. It can be a weighted or warm plushie. I thought it could help your brother through the night.”
“Actually that could help, thank you. What kind of plushie is it?”
“It’s a teddy bear with a flower in its hand, I thought it was so cute.”
The two walked in the house and Y/N eyes met with an older woman's eyes. She looked at her with wide eyes and pointed at Jin, “You didn’t tell me you had a date.”
“Eomma-”
Jin’s mother came right up to Y/N and looked her up and down, scanning her. Y/N stood still and tilted her head at her, “Hello, Mrs. Kim, my name is L/N Y/N.”
“Oh, you're the baker that Seok Joong told me about. Very talented.”
“Thank you for thinking I’m talented, I appreciate it.”
Jin’s mother glanced at the boxes in Jin’s arms and then back at Y/N, “What’s all that?”
“Jin asked me to make cupcakes for the party and-”
“YAH! SEOKJIN! YOU MADE YOUR DATE DO WORK!”
Jin’s face turned red and shook his head, “Eomma, please don’t yell. It echoes.”
She shook her head at him and then back Y/N with an apologetic look, “I’m so sorry that my son is an idiot. Thank you for making the cupcakes, Seok Joong and Dawon will appreciate it. I see you have a gift in your hands, you're such an angel.”
Jin wanted die in that moment but Y/N let out a small giggle at her, “Thank you Mrs-”
“Call me eomma.”
“Thank you eomma.”
She clapped her hands and turned around to glance at the backyard. She looked back at Y/N with an excited look, “Let me introduce you to everyone. Yah, Jin, put those in the kitchen. We’ll pass them out after we introduce your date to everyone.”
Before Jin could say anything, they were out of his sight. He stood there blinking his eyes and sighed, “How the hell can she move that fast?”
Jin took the boxes and placed them on the counter like his mother told him. He glanced outside the window and he couldn’t help a smile appear on his face. Y/N was talking to his father while his mother was taking pictures of her. It was a cute sight to see. Seok Joong and Dawon glanced from their hiding spot and then they glanced at each other. Dawon smiled, “I think it's cute.”
“It’s cute...want to make a bet on them?”
“Of course, love.”
∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘
It’s been two months and Jin was in trouble. He liked Y/N even more, something he didn’t want to happen. He was her boss and this was inappropriate on so many levels. HR would kill him if they found out his feelings. He was having an inner battle, he wanted to date Y/N but he knew it was wrong. He was disappointed with himself because he took his business seriously and he didn’t want it to have a downfall because of his selfishness. It would ruin so many lives.
Jin sat in his car, running his fingers through his hair roughly. He couldn’t let this turn into something more, he was her boss. Also there was no way that Y/N liked him. It wouldn’t make sense. Tonight, Yoongi invited him to a club and he accepted without thinking because he heard that Y/N was going. He was annoyed that he accepted because he needed to stop being around Y/N outside of work but he couldn’t help it. She was just so addicting.
He sighed to himself and got out of his car with confidence. He entered the club and headed up to the VIP room. Hoseok always hooked them up at his clubs and this was no different. He went up the stairs and his eyes landed right on her. She was wearing a glitter bodycon dress with her hair in a ponytail, she looked hot. Jin wiped his hands on his jeans and walked up to them. The first one to notice was Hoseok, “Jin!”
The whole group turned towards them and gave him wide grins, the biggest was Y/N. Hoseok came over and gave him a bro hug, “Sorry I was late.”
“No worries, you're here now.”
He waved at his friends and sat next to Y/N who gave him a smile, “Hey Jinnie.”
“H-Hey Y/N. How long were you here?”
“Only twenty minutes, you're not that late. Want to come with me to get a drink?”
“Umm, I’m actually driving so I’ll just get a red bull or something.”
“No worries, I just wanted lemonade.”
The two left the group and headed downstairs to get their drinks. There was so many people dancing and Jin was sure some of them were fucking on the dance floor. They made their way to the bar and they sat there waiting for their drinks. Jin glanced down at his shoes, not wanting to make eye contact with her, “Jin, are you okay?”
“I’m okay. Just have things on my mind.”
Y/N placed her hand on top of his, causing him to whip his head towards her, “You can always come to me, Jin.”
I can’t tell you why, “Thank you Y/N.”
“Y/N is that you?”
She froze for a second and then she took a look. Jin glanced over her shoulder and saw a tall handsome guy with blonde hair. He was dressed in expensive clothing and it was clear he had an ego, “Hey, Namjoon.”
“I haven’t seen you since-”
“Since you tried taking my money and cheated on me. Yeah, that’s what happens when you're a piece of shit.”
Jin glanced between them with an awkward look. Namjoon let out a deep chuckle and leaned forward towards Y/N, making her lean back into Jin’s chest, “You can’t let that go? It happened years ago, are you that obsessed with me?”
Y/N scoffed at this and she wanted to spit in his face but she held back, “Obsessed? I’m not Eunah.”
“So you remember my wife.”
“You're married? I guess you two truly belonged with each other. Two pieces of shit.”
Jin let out a snicker causing Namjoon to glance at him, “And who's this?”
Without a beat Jin wrapped his arm around Y/N’s waist and brought her closer, “I’m her boyfriend.”
Namjoon scoffed and shook his head, “I doubt it. She can’t get another boyfriend after me.”
“And why is that? Cheater.”
“She was in love with me, there’s no way she could move on.”
Jin wanted to punch him but he ignored that feeling. His hand rested on her hips and spun her around to have her face him. They looked into each other's eyes and the music in the club went silent. It was just them in the room with the lights dimmed. Y/N glanced down at his lips and he did the same, the two knew what they wanted. They slowly leaned in and Jin didn’t know who leaned in first but he didn’t care. Their lips connected and she cupped his cheeks as she turned her head to make the kiss deeper. His hands roamed down her back letting his hands touch her lower back. When they leaned away, they both looked into each other's eyes and she gave him a small smile.
A small cough brought them back and Jin looked at Namjoon with a smug look, “What?”
“That was inappropriate to do in front of someone.”
“Dude, you have a wife. Go to her instead of bothering my girlfriend, you look pathetic.”
Namjoon glared at him and scoffed at them both before leaving. Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled, “Thank you...you know I’ve been waiting for you to kiss me.”
He looked down at her with wide eyes, “Wait what?”
“Yeah, I’ve been waiting for you to kiss me or I don’t know, ask me on another date.”
“Y-Your serious?”
“Very...”
Shit, “Are you saying...that you like me?”
“Yes, Jin. I do like you.”
“I-I...fuck. Y/N we can’t be together.”
Her eyes widened and let go of him by taking a step back, “You're not interested in me?”
“No! I mean no it's not that. I’m very interested in you. The problem is, I’m your boss. It would be bad for the restaurant, bad for business in general.”
“I understand...”
He wanted to grab her hand but he knew he couldn’t after his speech. He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed, “I’m sorry.”
“No, no, don’t be sorry. I understand. HR would hate us. I’m going to head back upstairs, okay.”
Before he could say anything she basically ran from him. He glanced down at the counter and felt worse because she didn’t even take her drink. He cursed under his breath and took a sip of his red bull, “Fuck.”
Jin felt like shit. He felt like fresh dog shit before someone stepped on it. Y/N acted completely professional with him and he hated that. It’s been a couple of days since their talk and things were sad, well for him it was. Y/N was acting the same with everyone else but him. She would become stiff and call him chef or Seokjin, he fucking hated it but this is what had to happened. If he wanted to be selfish, the restaurant could’ve been shut down and everyone working there would struggle.
He was at his office typing away his reports when his door slammed open. He jumped in his seat and glared at the person, “Yoongi, what the hell?”
“I should be the one saying that, chef.”
Yoongi leaned against the door frame and let out a puff of smoke. Jin sighed and looked back at his computer screen, “What do you want and why do you seem angry with me?”
“You broke her heart.”
Jin stiffened at this but it was only for a second. He hoped Yoongi didn’t notice but he knew otherwise. He sighed and looked back at Yoongi, “I can’t go forward with her Yoongi. She’s my worker, it's wrong.”
Yoongi let out another puff of smoke and glared at him, “So, you were just leading her on?”
“NO! I would never do that...I just remember my position in power and how wrong it is. I really do like her Yoongi but it’s wrong.”
Yoongi nodded his head at this and sighed, “So...if she didn't work for you..you would date her?”
“I-I mean that would solve the problem...but yes I would date her. I doubt she would do that, she loves her job here and I’m not going to force her to do that. It’s wrong on my end to expect her to do that.”
“Okay...I’ll see you later.”
Jin blinked his eyes and watched Yoongi leave his office. He stood up from his chair and ran out, “Th-That’s it?”
“Yeah, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Jin stood there in confusion and let out a deep sigh when Yoongi closed the front door. Jin rubbed his temples roughly, “Fucking hate my life.”
∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘∘₊✧────✧₊∘
It was strange not to see Y/N at work. It felt like something was happening and everyone knew it but Jin. He didn’t want to ask Yoongi where Y/N was because that would be inappropriate especially since he knew his feelings towards her. He continued his routine but he couldn’t help but glance over his shoulder to look at her empty station. Jin was closing the restaurant and was heading to his car when he heard a soft voice. He whipped his head and saw her, “Y/N?”
She smiled and clapped her hands, “Hi Jinnie.”
“Y-Your calling me that again?”
She let out a small laugh and nodded her head, “Of course I am...I can’t call you chef anymore.”
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t work for you anymore.”
Jin dropped his keys and his bag. He looked at her with wide eyes and mouth, “What are you talking about?”
“I gave my resignation to your brother and it became official today.”
“No, I won’t let this happen. You had a job-”
“Jin, I already started working at this bakery.”
Jin looked at her with shock, “What bakery?”
“Songbird.”
Jin's eyes sparkled and he ran up to her wrapping his arms around her waist, bringing her into a tight hug, “I’m so proud of you. That’s for elites.”
“I guess your girlfriend is elite.”
He backed away and looked at her with hope in his eyes, “You want to be with me still?”
“Of course I do...that’s why I left. I want to start something with you, Jinnie.”
Hearing her say this made Jin snap. He grabbed all the items on the floor and took her wrist. He ran to the restaurant unlocking it with his key and headed towards his office. Y/N let out a small giggle when Jin tossed his stuff on the floor of the kitchen as he kicked his door open. The giggle quickly turned into a whimper as her back hit the back of the door, “Do you really want to be with me?”
“Well, I wouldn’t just leave my job for nothing. I think you should consider yourself lucky.”
“You're lucky you're cute.” He pulled her into him by her hips and bent down to place his forehead against hers, “Would you be my girlfriend?”
“Yes but we should act like we're not dating in front of the guys because I overheard them making a bet on us.”
“Deal.”
He backed her up slowly to his couch until the back of her knees touched the soft fabric. He gently laid her down on the couch and he was glad he bought that extra large couch now. He hovered over her and smiled, “My girlfriend.”
He stared down at her with his dark brown eyes as she looked at him with a smile. He brought his hand up to gently cradle her face and Y/N gently nuzzled her head into his hand. He bent down and gave her that long awaited kiss. He moved down to her neck and gently nipped at her skin, leaving little marks. Her hands went straight to his broad shoulders, gripping on them like her life depended on it, “Can I take this off?”
“Might as well, I have nothing else to do.” He let out a small chuckle and threw the shirt across the room. His hands went down her skirt and looked up at her, waiting for permission. She smiled at this and sat up to palace a kiss on his forehead, “Yes, Jin. I really want to fuck you.”
He tossed the skirt somewhere and looked at her with a soft look, “You're so beautiful.”
His fingers barely touched the laced bra and she felt herself getting flustered. He leaned forward, pushing them both onto the couch. He placed kisses on her breasts and lightly licked her nipple through the fabric. She let out a small moan and gripped his hair gently. His fingertips touched her covered clit and she let out a small whimper, “Does that feel good?”
He pressed a little harder and she closed her eyes at the feeling, “Y-Yes.”
His large hands guided her underwear down her legs as she felt the cold air hit her skin. He kissed the inside of her thigh and up to her core before pressing his fingers on the outside of her pussy. He entered two fingers into her entrance and she let out a small whimper. He glanced up to her making sure she was okay and she gave him a sheepish look, “I-It’s been awhile.”
“Sorry I’ll be gentle.”
“No, just be yourself right now. You can be gentle another time.”
He nodded his head and started thrusting his fingers. She gripped the soft fabric as he continued his speed, “You look really hot, Y/N.”
He rubbed his thumb on her clit, pushing her to the edge but right before she could come, he moved his hand away. She let out a frustrated sigh and looked down at him, “You can’t play like that.”
“Sorry I just want to feel you around me.”
He stood up and took off his shirt and Y/N tilted her head at his body. She wasn’t expecting him to be so fit, I mean she shouldn’t be shocked she loved looking at his arms. He looked back at her with a smudged look, “You like what you see?”
“I do, I’m mad that you’ve been hiding this from me. You're sexy.” His face turned red and looked away from her, causing her to laugh. He took off his pants and underwear as Y/N watched with a small smirk on her face. She glanced down at his member and let out a low whistle, “Nice.”
“Yah! Don’t do that!”
He bent down kissing her again and at the same time unhooking her bra. He tossed the bra on top of his pants and spread her legs for him, “You know...You look hot like this.”
“Like what?”
“Under me.”
“That's good because I’m going to be under you a lot.” He rolled his eyes and lowered himself to give her small kisses on her neck. She rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him in, chest to chest. He felt how wet she was and let out a low goan as she rubbed his erection between herself, “Hurry up, chef.”
He entered her slowly, not wanting to hurt her. She threw her head back a bit and gripped his shoulders when he finally bottomed out, “You okay, Y/N.”
“Yeah...you're lucky I have that IUD.”
“Oh shit. I’m sorry Y/N-”
“Hey, just fuck me.”
Jin kissed her jawline and let out a groan when he started to thrusting. She closed her eyes as the pleasure took over, “Fuck, you’re so big.”
He thrusted in and out faster making her clench around him. She moved her head and gave him a deep kiss as she moaned into his mouth. He hovered over her and looked down to see her thighs jiggle around him and the sweat forming on her body. He looked back up and his hand traveled up her neck. His fingers went around her neck and he applied a light pressure. He continued to fuck her with the light pressure around her neck, “Fuck I’m almost there.”
“J-Jin, m-me too...”
She let out a loud cry as she came around him and feeling her walls clench around him caused him to come as well. He collapsed onto top of her as he kissed the side of her neck. They stayed like that for a few minutes until Jin let out a small chuckle, “Fuck.”
“Yeah, fuck is right.”
He looked up at her and kissed the tip of her nose as she let out a small laugh, “My girlfriend.”
“My boyfriend~.”
