Gets to a point where your second daughter who’s no older than two gets confused when you’re not pregnant for once.

She clambers up the couch onto your lap, her tiny hands pawing at your stomach. And then she lifts the hem of your shirt, ducking her small head under, and then out, and then under again. A childlike concern furrows her wispy brows as she looks to you. “Mama, your tummy gone!”

Her innocent fretting warrants a surprised huff of laughter from you, but from across the living room, it cues a scheming, wickedly thrilled look from your husband.

He himself trudges over, lifting his legs high with every step as two of your other children clung to each of his calves like koalas to a tree trunk, squealing joyfully as he hauled them along.

There’s a genuinely bright grin as he lifts your daughter from your lap, the little girl beaming and giggling when he blew raspberries into her cheek.

“D’aww don’t look so frowny, cupcake,” He cooed as he lifted her overhead, sitting the now smiley girl atop his shoulders. All three of your littles were now tugging at some part of him with cheery expressions, whether it be his pants, shirt, or hair as he affirmed, “Mama’s tummy’ll come back.”

Satoru’s eyes shift to you now with a devious and knowing glint, loaded with implications that only you and him are privy to as he slyly adds, “won’t it, Mama?”

The outfit I gave Damian here is to match the rough timeline I’ve drawn his family in. I’m waggling my finger, it was on purpose so I better not see any gripes.

my thing with claudia and lestat is that to say he never loved her breaks the tragedy. the Point was never that either one if her parents didn’t love her— it was that they didn’t love her enough. the Point is that love without loving action is fucking useless.

in the final scene, where claudia looks into lestat’s eyes as she burns. it isn’t a tragedy because lestat doesn’t care, he obviously does. and he loves her enough to bear witness, horrified into silence.

and yet he wastes precious breath on defiant jokes, or defending his dignity when his family is beaten and crippled beside him. he loves her enough to let her say her peace but not enough to apologize. he loves her enough to weep once she’s gone but not enough to save her.

so you love her. good for you. so what.

i feel like whitaker just… doesn’t yell. like he can obviously yell when he’s scared or it’s like necessary but he just doesn’t really raise his voice. if he’s frustrated he just grits his teeth, sighs through his nose, and carries on.

santos — because she is the way she is (and i love her for it) — keeps trying to get him to break. it unnerves her how he just doesn’t seem to get mad at her. oh he definitely gets annoyed and exhausted, but he doesn’t raise his voice. when she won’t stop kicking him in the ass when he’s fixing the clogged sink drain he just… lets her do it. if she’s being lazy and wants some ice cream from the freezer but doesn’t want to get up she only has to whine for a few minutes before he groans and gets it for her.

she’s trying to see his boundaries. to see how far she can push until he proves that he’s just like every other man she’s met and the fact that he won’t fold irks the shit out of her. idk i don’t think they’d ever really talk about it, but whitaker is a smart cookie and would probably figure out what she’s trying to do a few months in. he’d probably casually drop that his older brothers yelled at him all the time and then his poor mom would yell herself hoarse trying to get them to quit and oh here comes his dad yelling for everyone to shut the hell up. so he’s just always been quiet. quiet little dennis who once walked on a broken ankle for a few days because he didn’t wanna bother anyone.

and santos learns to live with that. to live comfortably with a guy who won’t scream at her or hurt her even when he gets mad at her. she learns to relax. to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop.

okay but like, as much as I am a fervent proponent of “not every ship should get married and in fact some of them would Never” - especially in context of enemies-to-lovers - I hope that everyone who sees me posting like that knows I am not talking about Spuffy. in fact, I would go so far as to say they are the two characters most willing and even desperate to get married that I’ve ever seen.

one of Buffy’s most persistent struggles is her right to girlhood and the inevitable expiration date she faces as the Slayer. she’s forced to fight and claw for every possible milestone that other girls around her take for granted - trying out for the cheer squad, running for prom queen, going to college, etc. one of the nightmares she has after killing Angel is about being unable to be a bride and get married. in Something Blue, she throws herself into wedding planning with a passion that speaks to her having daydreamed about it. in most cases, her commitment issues veer toward clinging rather than avoidance, and marriage is absolutely one of those beautiful, unreachable things that were ripped away from her when the Powers chose her. it haunts her.

Spike is probably even more obvious - he’s a man from Victorian England, a society that held marriage on a pedestal. furthermore, he is fundamentally a creature of devotion, never straying from Drusilla for over a century, and then from Buffy even after she was dead. their desperation is also quite similar - Spike’s original community had considered him undesirable, barring him from a love match; and while a union may have been arranged for him as a human, his vampirism took that option away entirely, in the same way that Buffy’s becoming did it. during Something Blue, he is just as committed to planning the minutiae of the wedding as Buffy is, even though they could’ve just decided to do it at the courthouse and get it over with under a shoehorned pretext. he’s been dreaming of a wedding for 150 years, let’s be real

Spuffy would’ve gone insane about a wedding. they would’ve fallen in love worse. they would have threatened each other with divorce constantly but stayed married anyway for however long they lived. hell, they should’ve done it just for the CPS reasons in season 6, just imagine having to hide it from everyone except the government, lest Anya thinks they’re trying to steal her thunder
