#I'm thinking about misunderstandings and arranged marriage AUs

Wei Ying smiles like the sun.

When they were younger, Lan Wangji had felt scorched by it. It had seared into his bones and behind his retinas, ivory-bright and burning, and so, for fear of what would become of him if he looked too long, he had turned away.

Now the clouds have covered the sun, and it shines through so rarely that every glimpse of it is a treasure beyond reason or compare, and so -- even though he knows he should not -- Lan Wangji creeps forward on silent footsteps, peering a little closer, desperate in a wordless, formless, twisting way for even a glimpse, even a glimmer, even a tiny flash of that smile.

The bunny burrows deeper into Wei Ying's robes, and he grins, and it is like Lan Wangji is standing in the sun again after so many weeks of rain.

Then the wind shifts. Lan Wangji's robes, his ribbon, his hair suddenly lift and carry out far enough to catch the corner of Wei Ying's eye, and the clouds return so quickly Lan Wangji feels dizzy with it, feels sick. Wei Ying's back goes perfectly straight, and his face falls into an expression of cold neutrality. Lan Wangji has to clench his jaw to choke back a cry of despair.

His husband turns to face him without actually looking at him. Wei Ying solutes him with formality and grace. Greets him with "Hanguang-Jun."

The sun is gone again.

The sun is gone, and there is nothing Lan Wangji can do to bring it back -- not when he is the cloud that covers it. He should have turned away as soon as he saw Wei Ying in the field. He should not have intruded on this private moment of happiness, not when Wei Ying seems to experience happiness so rarely, now.

Lan Wangji returns the bow, greets his husband. Tells him "I am being sent on a night-hunt. I will depart this evening, and estimate it will take me three days to return."

Wei Ying does not ask to come along. His eyes do not light up in curiosity, he does not bounce on his knees and pester Lan Wangji for information about where he is going or what he is hunting. All Wei Ying does is incline his head and say "Alright."

Come with me, Lan Wangji wants to say, but he knows he hasn't the right. Wei Ying is likely relieved to have Lan Wangji out of his hair for a few days. Maybe, without Lan Wangji there to cast a shadow over him, Wei Ying will allow himself to smile.

I didn't mean to take it from you. I didn't know I could. I didn't realize how much power I had, how much I was hurting you. I would do anything to make you happy here. I wish I could figure out how.

Lan Wangji accepts the dismissal for what it is. He turns, and leaves, and hopes his husband will breathe easier with him gone. Maybe he should start taking more night hunts.

He doesn't know how long Lan Zhan has been standing there, but it's definitely been long enough to see Wei Wuxian rolling around in the dirt with the rabbits like an idiot. He tries to correct his posture, schools his face. Maintain a proper seat. Do not smile for no reason. Excessive displays of emotion are prohibited. Act with decorum.

It isn't enough. By the time he has himself presentable, Lan Zhan is visibly grinding his teeth. Even from here, Wei Wuxian can see the way his jaw flexes when he clenches it. He's expecting to be scolded -- pets aren't allowed in Cloud Recesses, and this clearing technically isn't in the bounds of Cloud Recesses but no Lan has ever cared about technicality when it came to obeying their rules. (Or punishing people for not obeying their rules.)

Still, it isn't Lan Zhan's fault that Wei Wuxian is exactly as much of a terrible husband as Madam Yu always told him he would be, so he salutes exactly as is proper between married spouses and calls Lan Zhan by his title, as respectfully as he can.

Lan Zhan bows back, and doesn't immediately drag Wei Wuxian off to be punished. Huh.

Maybe... maybe he appreciates the attempt?

Wei Wuxian is trying. He's trying so fucking hard. Does Lan Zhan see that? Does he -- does that mean anything to him? Does it matter to him that Wei Wuxian is trying as hard as he can, even though he keeps fucking up?

"I am being sent on a night-hunt. I will depart this evening, and estimate it will take me three days to return."

Ah. He's just in a hurry, then. That makes more sense.

Wei Wuxian nods. Says "Alright," to show he understands. Lan Zhan will probably pass his punishment on to someone else, then, or he'll decide what to do about Wei Wuxian when he gets back.

The stupid, childish part of Wei Wuxian that refuses to fucking learn wants to say be safe or come back to me. Wants to take Lan Zhan's hand in his and kiss the backs of his knuckles as a goodbye. Wants to help him pack, and see him off at the gates. Wei Wuxian has accepted that he'll never step foot outside the Cloud Recesses again, so going with Lan Zhan isn't an option for him, but at least a proper goodbye, at least something --

He crushes that stupid, childish part of himself as ruthlessly as he can. He has bothered Lan Zhan more than enough. The poor man is literally trapped with him now, and Wei Wuxian still can't be a decent husband for him. Lan Zhan deserves a few days to himself.

He knots his hands in the skirt of his robes, and bites his tongue hard enough to hurt, and doesn't move, and doesn't speak, and doesn't lift his eyes from the fluffy back of the little white rabbit until his husband's footsteps have vanished down the path, and Wei Wuxian is alone again.

"Let's get divorced."

When Mingyu came home late at night to see you awake and waiting for him, there was an uncanny feeling that settled within.

Your hands are crossed, face void of any expression. If not for your next words, Mingyu would think he's hallucinating.

"We can decide on the terms and clauses, all as per your convenience.", you stress, "I do not expect any trouble from your side."

Mingyu finally registers everything you have said till now and everything hits him all at once.

"W-What are you talking about? Why do you want a divorce all of a sudden?"

Your monotonous tone rather asks him another question, "We have been married for over two years, nearing it's third anniversary. Do you want to be tied in this marriage?"

Though Mingyu thinks he doesn't know you well enough but he knows you enough to catch the wind of your words.

His gaze turns towards his office room and his suspicion confirms to be correct when he sees the door opened ajar.

"Why did you enter my office? I had clearly warned you about not doing so.", he says in a strict voice.

"That doesn't answer my question.", you say getting up, "Anyways it doesn't matter anymore, I want you to move out of our shared bedroom right now and shift to the guest room. I'll get a lawyer, you get one too and proceed with the divorce."

As you turn back, you feel your husband's hand wrap around yours.

"How are you so calm? Why are you not asking me anything? Do I really mean nothing to you?", you hear a string of questions falling out of his lips, "We are married for almost three years now and your cool headedness after, I'm assuming, knowing everything makes me aware of the fact that I really don't know you."

You jerk your hand out of his grip and turn back to look at him, "And how is that my fault? Maybe you've never tried to know me.", your voice drops another octave, "You can stop with the doting husband act, now that I know the truth."

Mingyu doesn't miss the way your eyes show vulnerability for a moment. Your words strike a chord within him.

"I'll sleep in the guest room.", Mingyu says in defeat, "And we're gonna talk it out tomorrow morning.", he sounds sincere when he says, "I'm sorry. I hope you'll give me a chance to explain everything."

But little does he know, you've already closed the room for any diversions, that you've decided to part ways with the person who has betrayed your trust.

An accurate description of this au is that I took every playtime.co poster art and promotional material from the game and lit up the rest of canon in a bonfire. That means EVERY character is part of one big cartoon. That's it. No bigger bodies project, no child souls, no experiments, just a depiction of a cartoon. PLEASE do not ask me to do anything suggestive with anyone.

OK I'm jumping straight under the cut, these are pretty long so be warned

Bubba's relationship with his parents is pretty good. The only reason I say "pretty" is because he feels like they "undermine his intelligence." In reality, he just wants to help them. In his younger years, he accessed the internet pretty easily and used context clues to figure out that with all the factors of an adult life, they weren't doing so well financially. But he saw a solution: a lot of people who have easy lives have a good education. So, he got to work, teaching himself anything and everything. He even (somewhat legally) got multiple jobs, ranging from tutoring to coding and other similar occupations. He hid these from his parents for a suprise. (This is when he was about 8, but my timeline is weird rn) anyways, he in total made a LOT more money than any child should have. Eventually, he told his parents and told them about his entire plan to help them. They exchanged a few words between each other and turned back to Bubba. They told him that they were very proud of him, but he shouldn't have to worry about things like that at his age. He understood because he knows that a lot of kids his age don't know a quarter of the stuff he does, but he also felt betrayed. As if they think he doesn't really know anything. In reality, they just want him to be able to live a life without their own issues, dragging him down. But they still are a happy family. There are just a few misunderstandings. Moving on, he still kept those jobs to the present day, meaning he's (for lack of a better term) loaded. In terms of the friend group, he is the one to give out life advice and such. He also funds their more expensive outings. If bobby is the "mom friend," Bubba is the "dad friend." Speaking of which, Bobby is his closest friend outside of Kickin. They both care for their friends and family, even though they do in different ways. He's still in good light with everyone else, though.

Kickin has fairly normal parents. They were a bit concerned with his behavior shift, but after meeting Bubba and his family, they were able to see him truly happy again. They care about him, like parents do. In regards to the friend group, Bubba and him are attached at the hip. If you were to invite one, you'd get the other. Package deal. This made and broke a lot of parties or outings with their peers, but with the critters they're both welcome anytime. Outside of Bubba, Hoppy is his closest friend, Dogday coming at a close second.

Hoppy's parents are her biggest inspiration. Athletes, just like she wants to be. They're pretty chill with each other, and they support her dreams. With the friend group, kickin is her best friend, but bobby is cool to her as well.

Crafty's parents are total assholes. I've gone over her parents before, but to give a brief summary, crafty wants to be an artist because she genuinely enjoys it, but her mother wants her to follow in her footsteps and be a model, simply because their rarity as unicorns. Her father knows, but doesn't care what she does either way. He's off defending people in court most of the time, and it was an arranged marriage anyway, just to keep the line going. (Not incredibly proud of this one, but it'll do). Whenever she wants to hang out with the friend group, she usually appears in far too expensive clothes for the activity, but Bobby's usually prepared and brings some clothing that Crafty feels comfortable in. She's closest to Dogday, him being the one to help her make friends in the first place and give her the motivation needed to be proud of her art.

Bobby's parental situation is bittersweet. She's the only critter with siblings, and regularly has to watch them because she has a working father, and her mother divorced him and didn't get custody. She is understanding and is more than happy to help, much to her father's regret, him having wanted her to have a normal childhood. (See why her and Bubba get along?) This led to her being essentially their mother. She wasn't exactly alone in this, as Picky Piggy was a huge help in some departments. Eventually, her father started earning enough to pay for a babysitter, allowing Bobby to be normal. But old habits are hard to shake. In the friend group, she is undeniably the mom friend. Other than picky (which she knew before joining the critters), Bubba is who she's closest to, for sharing the same goals: to help. Dogday makes ideas and plans, but bobby and Bubba make sure they go flawlessly.

Picky is also pretty normal. She has parents that support her culinary arts and had a few friends before joining the critters, including Bobby. Her knowing bobby immediately places her as Picky's closest friend, but she's fairly indiscriminate to everyone.

Another one I've gone over before: Catnap lost his parents at 4 (cause of bye-bye still pending and I honestly need help) and has lived on his own ever since. He's not COMPLETELY parentless, though, even though he'd never admit it. Although he never shows it like ever, he appreciates boxy boo just stopping by to check on him. In terms of friends, he's not actually an official member yet, but Dogday, Bobby, and Picky know him. Bubba and Kickin know of his existence because Dogday muttered his name when planning their sleepover but have yet to meet him. Dogday is his best friend, and wants to help him see that although it's great to be happy, he's still human (ik ik he isnt but yk what I mean) and is allowed to see things in a negative light sometimes.

Dogday was abandoned by his parents shortly after he was born, and was put in an orphanage and has lived there since. Just like catnap, however, he's not totally fatherless. One time, during one of the rare outings when one of their caretakers would take them to the local park dogday and wanted a balloon but didn't have a quarter to pay. Luckily for him, someone came and bought one for him. That someone was Huggy Wuggy. They became acquainted after Dogday thanked him, and anytime dogday visits the park, they sit on a bench and talk about things. (He also learned that Huggy gives the greatest hugs and now he won't leave without one everytime he has to go.) In terms of the friend group, he was the one that brought most of them together and along with being generally likeable he's in great standing with all of them. Though, hides the fact that he lives in an orphanage, thinking that they would treat him differently. When he met Catnap, however, they bonded over their lack of biological parents, and they became best friends. Dogday, even though he barely knows more than Catnap, wants to teach him how to make the best out of situations, even when times are bad.

BUT i have begun thinking about what that next multichap fic will be for me, and i'm curious what y'all would prefer!

binggeyuan enemies to lovers

shen yuan is a pidw native who was in seclusion during bingge’s childhood/rise to power. he emerges to the wasteland of the merged realms and tries to pick up some of the pieces of the life he remembers, finding old friends and helping the meager resistance against emperor luo binghe.

one night, bingge ends up in sy’s dreams by accident…. and then ends up quite literally not being able to stay away, even when he tries to avoid sy’s dream realm. as binggeyuan are forced to spend time together in the dream realm, sy realizes that quite a bit of bingge’s insanity stems from xin mo’s influence, and that bingge might hate his life just as much as the world hates him. meanwhile, bingge finds his mind inexplicably soothed just by being around sy, and their slow, slow path from enemies to reluctant allies begins.

this would be a more somber/serious toned fic, more in line with “take me home, bury me there” than any of my other more humorous fics. themes of soulmates + the struggle of knowing logically you should hate someone but ending up loving them anyway, estimated to be 8 chapters.

liushen accidental marriage

set during the abyss years, lqg asks sqq what it would take to pull him from his mourning. trying to brush off the issue of ‘mourning’ entirely, sqq makes the mistake of implying that he’s just struggling to adjust with not having someone living in his house and helping out anymore. naturally, lqg takes this as an invitation to fill that spot (as a husband). sqq doesn’t understand. of course he doesn’t.

generally meant to be lighthearted and my usual brand of funny misunderstandings, but would definitely carry the underlying theme of sqq’s grief during those years. estimated to be about 5 chapters.

bingqiu arranged marriage

sqq is a human cultivator sent as an ambassador to the demon realm to investigate the sincerity and sanity of the demon emperor's proposal of a truce and trade agreement between the realms. sqq is meant to observe how suitable the arrangement would be for both humanity as a whole, and for the human princess that would be offered up for marriage as part of the potential peace agreements.

sqq has a very active idea of what "observing" means though, including everything from interjecting in demonic court to sticking his fingers in the demonic emperor's mouth to feel just how sharp his teeth are. demonic emperor luo binghe decides it would only be appropriate to give sqq a very active way of observing what it would be like to be treated as the human wife of the demon lord, too.

this one would also be more lighthearted / in tune with the way most of my fics are, and would have some nice tasty "but he's already arranged to be wed to another" pining in it. estimated 5 chapters as well.

A Charcuterie Board Marriage

You are hereby invited to the wedding of Thane Dellisandro Katzen and Marquis Colin of House Fontina...

(The Ravening War season of D20 aired nearly a year ago, and now I have a brain worm about an arranged marriage au I'm probably never going to actually write, so here we are)

Where Deli was raised more in Ceresia, courtly and princely but never quite fitting in because there's a pushed down love of roughness and violence in him, and he was warned by his mother before he was sent away not to trust easily. (She may not be interested in politics, but she also knows to expect a knife in the back from the "civilized" folk.) So he tries to navigate a court of backstabbing vipers, all trying to hide how desperately they're vying for power. And he feels too much, really, compared to the polite emotional displays. He tries to fit, tries to play the game, but sometimes he can't keep it all in, keep the mask on. His grandfather, Senator Carbono, had been known to joke all that heart will one day be Deli's downfall, in a tone that hinted at the truth behind the jest.

And Colin Provolone (Fontina), grandson of a once beloved than sabotaged noble who tried to bring down the monarchy, an illegitimate child raised in the streets whose father is eventually caught and made to pay for the Marquis Fontina's crimes but the rulers don't want to lose House Fontina, they want them under their thumb. So they reach down and legitimize this feral, angry street child turned minor thug and try to bend him to their will. And he plays along, because what else can you do? He wants to survive. But as time goes on, he starts saying things, doing things a little too much like his grandfather. The common people are starting to like him. And they can't have that, so they find some old treaty that allows them to force a marriage with someone from Carn. But they want him further away than that and entirely out of his element.

Which brings us back to Dellisandro, of Carn but not, living in Ceresia with no power or contacts in his homeland, at a court full of intrigue and gossip and far from the Dairy Isles.

It's perfect.

Colin knows he needs this marriage to work if he wants to stay alive, regardless of what it might require of him, but he knows this is a forced political match so his expectations aren't just low, they're abysmal. He must keep his new husband happy enough to keep the marriage intact.

And Deli, younger and full of so many conflicting emotions and wants that he has been trying to bury his entire life, has childish dreams of true love, but also an urge to conquer, in war and in bed, which he has never indulged.

It's a toxic mess, made for misunderstandings and missed opportunities and so many lies, to each other and themselves.

(I don't think this story has a happy ending.)

Ok so i got a bunch but lately I've seen many victorian au and i keep thinking about my haunted house AU (also called "no childrens playing in the background") that begin in the Victorian era.

So the plot is simple:

Gerard Keay is an exorcist, as a kid used to be haunted by his dad's ghost that tried to protect him from Mary who was also an exorcist.

One day he take a call from the two new owners of a big Mansion in Bournemouth (Georgie and Melanie my beloveds) they buy the property because was stupidly cheap and they knew that was supposedly haunted but because they work with supernatural (allegedly) thought that could manage some creepy noises.

Well they don't.

So Melanie calls gerry.

And now Gerry has the unpleasant task of resolve centuries of petty romantic drama and misunderstandings.

(Fell in love with the most grumpy, annoying, infuriating ghost wasn't contemplated in the bill)

Yeah is a jongerry (tho i keep thinking about make it jgm because the jonmartin history of origin is too tragic to end separate)

🍍 Ahh I love so many kinds of AUs... I love a single parent AU, a forced proximity AU, a Royal! AU (particularly if it comes with arranged marriage and the ungodly embarrassment of being attracted to the person you're married to).

I don't necessarily have beef with any AUs per se but there are definitely ones that don't interest me - like I don't find rivalries all that interesting, because I think it's often two people just being super self-involved and inconsiderate which is unattractive to read. I also don't know that this is really an AU but I think when a story changes so much about a person's circumstance but doesn't change their character over it, it frustrates me. ASOIAF in particular. Their parentage, their privilege, etc. is SO intrinsic to so many of the characters and I write silly modern AUs all the time but I do try to keep core personality there while amending for different circumstances. (not to say I always succeed)

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

Never is such a commitment! I have a bunch of ideas that I haven't started writing, but looking at my previous behaviour I know there's every chance I will start one day. I never thought I'd start posting triage cos the ending is so emotionally complex, but I've started. Never thought I'd write my arrange marriage good omens au, but it's got so many words now that I'm having to restructure the docs. I don't think there any never.

Original work tho? I hope one day I can write my immortal lesbian witch story but I don't know if I'll ever be good/brave enough to take it on

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

Mm I don't have many expectations when I post, cos I know what I get out of it. But, and I know I've spoken about this before, I think it was Is It Worth It Yet I didn't that for angst cos I knew the ending was happy. Cos I wrote it, whenever I read the first chapter I wasn't too bothered cos it was much more about the silly fluff later, that was like the prologue. But someone pointed out it was angsty and deserved a hurt to comfort tag. I reread and realised that yeah, if you're reading for the first time (which obvs most people who aren't the author are doing!) It's real sad!!! I learnt a bit about my writing then, it was cool

20. What’s a favorite title for a fic you’ve written?

Honestly I'm so disconnected from the titles. I have working titles when I'm writing which are much much more basic be descriptive. When I post I quickly come up with a title that's either a word or line pulled directly from the fic or is some thesaurus definition cos I couldn't think of anything.

Perhaps Triage, it has a good amount of communication. That Crowley and Aziraphale's relationship isn't safe, they're having to constantly triage their interactions to prioritise safety over comfort. But sometimes comfort does need to be prioritised but that doesn't mean it will be next time. I think triage is a good way to summarise them

21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?

Oh yeah! Its something I do very often. Struggling with a scene means I will have spent hours writing it. If I'm not happy with what's coming out I write it out two or three times more with different intentions. I always have the if they communicated perfectly draft, which removes misunderstanding and lets me explore moving the plot forward. Then there's the worst misunderstanding possible draft which is the absolute opposite and they fuck up royally. Sometimes I also do a funny version or a version with lots of external interruptions.

So I'll often end up with four very different versions of the same scene. I usually end up blending the two best versions and make sure it still fits within the overall story and scrap the rest.

For example, the last chapter of Triage has been undergoing this for years. I'll show you my files

The one modified on Oct 3 has four dot point draft ideas as well. I'm gonna spend a whole arvo restructuring at some point. I think it's gonna end up being two chapters, cos it's a bit too much in just one rn

But yeah, the stuff I don't keep will just go. I'm not attached to things that don't work

You didn't come out of your room for the rest of the day, locking yourself inside and not even letting your maids in. Eventually, your mother came to check on you, but you only glared at her.

"Please... Talk to him..." Your mother begged, kneeling down beside you and stroking your hair.

You scoffed, "Why should I?" Scooting away from her.

"This all must just be a misunderstanding, dear." She spoke, but you shook your head.

"How could I ever trust him again? Not after what he did to me." You spat.

Your mother sighed, "Maybe if you talk to him, he will explain himself..."

"No. I don't want anything to do with him." You replied coldly, pulling your knees to your chest and wrapping your arms around them.

"Okay, dear." Your mother said, standing up.

You stayed curled up in your bed chamber the next morning, refusing to move from your spot. Only moving when your mother would send food to you. You felt betrayed and you couldn't forgive him. You didn't want to see him, hear his voice, or even look at him.

You had no idea why he would do something so terrible. Why would he play with your feelings like that? It was infuriating. But you needed time alone. You wanted to clear your mind and let everything sink in. You thought about what you should do, whether to stay in your room and suffer or to go out and see Neville, but before you could decide, there was a knock at your chamber door.

"Who is it?" You called out and you heard his voice.

"It's me... Draco." He called out.

You sat up, immediately glaring at the door, "Leave me alone." You yelled.

"I'm here to apologize." He said, "I wanted to talk to you, please."

You stayed silent for a moment, thinking.

"Please, Y/N. Let me explain."

You sighed, "Fine." You muttered, "But, I want the truth." You spoke, and Draco slowly opened your door, closing it behind him.

You gestured for him to sit on one of your many satin chairs in the room. Draco sat down on one of them and cleared his throat, you didn't even bother looking at him.

"I would like to first apologize for you seeing that letter. You weren't supposed to." Draco started, "I never intended for that to happen." Draco spoke and you finally looked up at him.

You tilted your head, "So, what happened then?" You asked.

Draco sighed, "As I was saying, I wanted to tell you the truth. My father, before I came here, had this plan to marry me to you so he would have more control. Your kingdom's army is the best there is, and my father wanted to use that. He is a terrible, greedy man, and I hate to think that I am his son." Draco's voice cracked, "He doesn't care about anyone but himself. That's why he wants you to marry me. He knows how powerful we are together."

You gulped, your mouth was awfully dry. "So, you are saying that he wanted you to try and trick me into loving you so you could push the wedding date closer, so he could gain control of my kingdom's army?" You questioned, hoping you were right.

Draco nodded, "Yes."

"Well," You began, pushing your hair from your face, "I still don't believe you."

Draco stood up, going to your bed where you sat and kneeling before you. Clasping his hands together, he looked up at you.

"How can I get you to believe me, Y/N?" He asked, "If I could find a way to prove myself to you, please, let me do that."

You stared at him, "How?" You asked, "Tell me how I should know you aren't lying."

Draco sighed and shook his head, "I guess I don't have any other choice than to show you."

"Show me what?" You asked, but Draco didn't answer. He simply walked to a closet and pulled out a very small, black box. He walked back to you, opening the lid. Inside was a silver ring.

"What is this?" You asked, in awe of the ring before you.

"This was my mothers. She hated my father's plan and gave me this... To give to you." He pulled the ring from the box and held it out to you.

"I know that we are betrothed, but I wanted to give you something to make it official. So, please, let me prove myself to you. Tomorrow, please." Draco pleaded.

You stared at the ring, you had no clue how to respond. You wanted to believe him, but you were afraid. Afraid of being hurt again, of falling for someone who didn't truly care about you. You couldn't stop your mind from thinking about Neville. You remembered all the times you spent with him, how much you cared about him. But, you knew it was never meant to be.

You sighed, "Very well." You spoke softly, grabbing the ring from his hand. "You may prove yourself to me tomorrow." You spoke, and Draco nodded, placing a kiss to your hand, like he did on the first day you met.

"Thank you, thank you."

He left the room, and you laid back in your bed. You stared at the ceiling, replaying the conversation over in your head. You had no idea what to expect when tomorrow came. Holding the ring up in the air, you watched as the light made it sparkle. It was pretty, you'd give him that, but you didn't know what to do now. Your mind was completely bewildered and confused. Your heart raced as your mind felt numb at the same time. Sighing, you placed the ring on your bedside table, before closing your eyes.

You felt so tired, so overwhelmed with all these emotions and feelings. You didn't know what to do... And you feared that you never would. You took a deep breath and tried to relax yourself, trying to clear your mind. But you only ended up worrying more. You felt like your head was underwater, your mind drowning in anxiety. Closing your eyes tightly, you tried to sleep, but it wasn't happening. You kept tossing and turning, unable to get the thoughts out of your head.

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?

oh man, I love writing about food. Character's favorite/least favorite foods, tense mealtimes, food as a way of establishing setting, cooking as a love language, those sorts of things. I think I also really love to write about like, sad insane little polymaths grieving the most important people in their lives and like, the sense of loss we feel sometimes when life changes? Idk! I think some parts of my writing tends towards the melancholic rather than the fluffy.

11. Are you partial to a certain character/pairing or are you more equal-opportunity? If you are partial to any character/pairing, why do you think that is?

I'm a multishipper! I definitely have characters I love more than others (looking at you my list of blorbos!) and character archetypes I love more than others (pathetic sad men and hypercompetent yet also very damaged and sad women) but overall I think I'm partial to characters for their acts of devotion. I love an unhinged or hinged and devoted character, that's how Youqin from Starry Love or NHS from MDZS or HYS from LOCH really speak to me. Get me in the acts of devotional service.

13. Are there any tropes you used to like but don’t anymore?

hmmm I'm not sure on this one. I tend to eternally like stuff but I find myself having less tolerance for romcoms recently. Misunderstandings as plot devices to keep the couple apart or make people feel bad about their friends was never a huge thing that I enjoyed and I think I enjoy it even less recently.

16. What’s an AU you would love to read (or have read and loved)?

oh man, arranged marriage! marriage fics in general! I love a good starting this relationship backwards with commitment first and feelings later.

28. Does anyone read your fics before you post them? If so, who?

Haha I think pretty much all of my discord friends hear about a fic when I'm writing it just bc I LOVE to scream about my writing. I would say that @autumnslantern sees a lot of my fics before I post them? Many discord friends may see snippets or pieces esp if I think a particular pairing/fandom/trope would really speak to them. I'm not super private about stuff that I'm writing about though I find posting snippets to tumblr a bit more "oh ANYONE can see this that's slightly terrifying."

How do you feel about gender bender aus? Also what aus or tropes or character dynamics do you like? Do you like to read the same stuff to write?

I mean, I really don't read much gender bender, normally I read more mlm stuff I've read some wlw but not a lot. And like I really don't find the charm in them, it's more like indifference, of course, there are exceptions but I can't think of any now. For hetero ships normally there's like a trans person involved like 90% of the time.

I like a/b/o a lot bc of like exploring gender stuff and men being able to get pregnant and people not batting an eye and still treating them like men.

I do read what I write mostly, dead dove and dark fics, lots of noncon or like dub con. I like soulmates but with angst. Misunderstandings are the best for me i really like wjen it hurts a bit.

Also, I absolutely hate when in dark fics the author makes a character act in a very unrealistic way or in a way that doesn't follow their usual way of acting to solve everything.

I like forced relationships and abusive ones as well, just like make it hurt and improbably in most of the time.

Kidnapping and like Stockholm syndrome when well written are beautiful.

I also love not actually unrequited love, when the pine over one another and yet they say n9thogm and think they don't have a chance to be together.

I cannot read major character death, I always cry my eyes out so hard, it's not funny. Also, vote or extreme gore or extreme body modification are a big no for me.

I like royalty and arranged marriage but the toxic one, possessiveness and everything.

Fantasy aus are always welcomed as well. Not really a fan of coffee shops aus. Nor suddenly acquiring a baby.

I like mpreg sure but sometimes you can absolutely tell the person is prolife and it gets uncomfortable. I actually wanted to write a fic with a pregnant person deciding to abort and their partner being there and supporting them, despite loving each other they decide its not the time, but the pregnant one was scared the other would say no or something.
