Second of all, I'm so sorry this took so long to answer!! I have seen your other ask concerning the writing for my AU, and I have to tell you beforehand that it's okay if you lost motivation or inspiration to write this during the long wait. I totally understand if you don’t feel like doing this anymore. Please don't force yourself to write for something you lost interest in. But I’ll gladly still infodump you about the AU!

Names:

Sure, if you wanted to you could just call them their job names. It would make it easier for the readers to recognize each character, but I do have some actual names I came up with if you prefer something more natural sounding!

All the job switched mercs chose their own names, but I deliberately made the names they chose sound as close as possible to the OG Red mercs'. Because the irony here is that they are clones who try so desperately to be unique and different from the OG team, but still managed to somehow copy them despite all their efforts not to.

But I'm really shit at naming things so the effect was kinda lost :')

Sniper as Soldier- Monday or Mondy

Reason: When asked about his name choice, he paused for a moment and asked back, "what day is it today?"

"Monday."

"Monday it is, then."

Soldier as Spy- June or Spyder

Scout as Medic- Germs (short for germinoma) (yeah idk what happened with this one but I didn't wanna call him Jerry either)

Reason: June chose the wrong day to ask Germs about name choices. When asked, the battle worn, tired, salty field-medic grabbed a random medical book from his bookshelf; opened the book; flipped to a random page; viciously stabbed his finger on a random spot on the page and read the word under his finger: "germinoma"- all the while maintaining direct eye contact. It was supposed to be sarcastic. June took it literally, so it became his permanent nickname (much to his dismay)

Medic as Engineer- Ludovic (sometimes they call him Ludo, for short)

Spy as Demoman- Louise, Lois, Lassie, Louisiana, Lyse (any name similar sounding enough to Lois works)

Reason: His "boom sticks" are modified versions of an actual French cigarette brand called "Gauloises". Since none of the mercs actually knows how to read French, they severely butchered the pronunciation and ended up just dropping the beginning of the word entirely, sticking with "loises". However, everyone had varying interpretations of how to pronounce THAT too. So his exact name remains a mystery, and he won't clarify either (he finds it fun to see them try and guess).

Demoman as Sniper- Trevis

Heavy as Pyro- Mikel

Engineer as Heavy- Belle

Pyro as Scout- Zippo

Reason: ya know... zippo lighters... and he's a scout now, so he ZIPS past you... get it?

These are all very bad names, I know, but hopefully you can tolerate my utterly abysmal naming skills :')

Nicknames:

- Monday sometimes calls Lois "Goldilocks" as his own godawful pronounciation of "Gauloises". It annoys Lois to no ends and Mondy loves it.

- He also sometimes calls Germs "bun-bun" to piss him off about his buck teeth. He feels too bad to joke about Belle's tho.

- Monday uses the most nicknames with others, 90% of which is to mock or annoy but it's all in good fun (usually)

- THEY'RE ALWAYS THE SILLIEST NICKNAMES TOO, WITH EVEN SILLER STORIES BEHIND THEM. Just think of the dumbest, goofiest, sounding names

- He once honest to God called Mikel "Jason" and did NOT elaborate

- Germs rivals Monday with his own silly nicknames for everyone, but his tend to be a bit more... vulgar

- "HEY FUCKNUGGETS"

- "fly high, chucklefest junior!"

- "calm down Colonel shrinky-dink"

Yes!! I don’t think MC will be able to dabble in say, harder drugs as discussions of addiction is something I take seriously and would want to dedicate ample time and respect to. And right now there’s so many moving parts to consider with the plot, I’m not sure I can do that justice!!!

For smoking and alcohol though, yes MC can have those as unhealthy coping mechanisms, as I think that I can handle! I know those vices a bit more than uhhh nose candy and other things.

I hope this answers your question!! Away from vices, MC can also have varying levels of “how angry at the world are you?”

Hey there anon, thanks for asking this I’m flattered! I’m definitely not an expert and I’m still very new to fitness in general (only been at it for ~9 months now.) I’m also not really one to be systematic about it. I don’t calorie count or follow a specific workout routine, for example. Tbh this past year I’ve just been dicking around in the gym and trying new stuff out lol. With that said I don’t really have a definitive routine but I’ll share what I’ve been doing:

• Push-ups everyday, even on rest days. I try to do at least 100 but 200 is my ideal range. I’ve started doing pull-ups most days as well but since I don’t have a pull up bar (yet) I only do those when I go to the gym. Still doing assisted pull-ups for now (multiple sets until failure) but already seeing big improvement in my back and lats!

• My “routine” can shift depending on my schedule but I generally do PPL (push-pull-legs) with a rest day in between. This averages out to about 5-6 days a week in the gym, 3-4 of those being upper body and 2 leg days. However, when I first started lifting I was only doing about 2-3 gym days a week total, so I’ve worked my way up to that. I generally workout for for 60-90 minutes. My workouts usually start with a warm up, then the actual workout, followed by a “Lightning round” to finish off where I just make myself go until absolute failure and get as much of a pump as i can.

• I generally split my upper body workouts into chest/back and arms/shoulders respectively, but sometimes I’ll switch it up. I make it a point to switch up my workouts everytime too, so for example, if I did bench press my last chest day I’ll do dumbbells my next one etc.

• Warming up I always do push-ups, pull-ups, and then depending on what im hitting that day I’ll do some drop sets accordingly to get a good little pump in, really focusing on muscle mind connection. In my opinion MMC has been paramount in me getting good pumps and making sure I’m targeting the muscle I want properly.

• I take my sets to failure every-time and I gradually increase the weight with each set (progressive overload). My only exception to this is during a warm-up where I do some drop sets.

• An example of my routine would look like this:

• As for my diet as I stated I don’t calorie count and I kinda just go off how hungry or full I feel lol. I try to eat mostly healthy but nothing too crazy. Chicken is my main source of protein, I also use ground Turkey a lot. Eggs. Eggs. Eggs. And beans! I mostly use frozen vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, brussel sprouts, zucchini, etc) and I also use leafy greens (spinach, collared/turnip greens, kale etc) in salads and in smoothies. For breakfast I’ll have some oatmeal, toast, potatoes, and of course eggs. I drink protein shakes as well as 5g creatine every day

I’ll share my smoothie recipe because it’s pretty good and I’ve definitely seen gains with it. I drink this pretty much every night after my workout:

Green Smoothie

• Equal parts mango and pineapple

• 2 scoops of vanilla casein protein powder (50g protein)

• 1/2 cup fat-free Greek yogurt (I use Fage brand cause ima fag)

• several handfuls of leafy greens (spinach, collared greens, kale, etc, just whatever I have)

• 1 avocado

• 1 banana

• equal parts coconut water and cashew/almond milk

Blend until it forms a homogeneous liquid :)

This is kinda haphazard but I hope it’s kinda what you’re looking for!! I might make a more detailed post in the future if more people are curious :)

lmao don't worry. it's a good question. and surprisingly, I don't get asked as often as one might think. I've actually probably only been asked about it like maybe three or four times - and that's only since I started this blog back in march. but as for what's hot about sneezing, I don't really have one answer. I mean, personally, it varies. sometimes, it can be the desperation & temporary loss of control - something about being forced to give into your body's natural reflexes, completely unable to resist them. example: scenarios of someone having a relentless tickly fit, unable to catch their breath with each unsatisfying release.

on the other hand, sometimes it's actually the temporary acquired control - for example, say someone's they sick. there's something (on paper) about having the power to use their body possibly infect others bodies with *their* sickness. or d/s scenarios where one person's the sneezer, and the other is their devoted human-handkerchief. & sometimes, it's just purely monkey brain: "look nice, pp hard." noses (to me) are just really nice... appendages, I guess lmao. like how dicks, boobs, and butts are to some people. I don't know. I actually suck with words, especially when it comes to explanations. but yeah. sometimes it's a: "no thoughts - head empty" thing, tbh.

also yes and no, my friend, pollen season is both heaven *and* hell for me. because while I get off to others' sneezes, and pollen season creates a lot of opportunity to witness that, I don't get off to my own, and pollen season kicks *my* ass too... :,)

Is it weird that I think the vignettes and event stories are better than the main story? The main story just seems so unnecessarily dramatic and angst to me. What do you think? You obviously don't need to answer this if you don't want to. Im just curious.

I think that the vignettes and event stories give entirely different vibes than the main story does, but in my opinion, neither is “better” than the other. The way they’re framed fundamentally serves different purposes, and they all contribute to the charm of Twisted Wonderland in their own ways.

The main story focuses on a specific narrative (the whole isekai’d thing), and as a result, it’s forced to follow a certain path in every chapter, with Yuu somehow getting involved in a conflict, then eventually building up to the OB and the resolution. This can get formulaic, but I think TWST generally does a good job of switching things up to keep the players engaged. I also think that the main story definitely has more of a lean toward drama and angst (especially the deeper you get into the main story), but I don’t believe that’s a bad thing. This kind of content IS valuable and necessary at times, because if everything is already happy, then no one evolves or gets any better. What the main story does well is homing in on a few choice characters per chapter (namely the OB boy) and their dorm mates) and their issues. It has the advantage of having enough time to elaborating on its ideas, but at the cost of maybe not knowing other characters as well (even in subsequent main story chapters), and/or being forced to find a consistent way to keep Yuu relevant to the conflicts (as Yuu is the audience surrogate character).

The vignettes and event stories are a lot more lighthearted, varied in themes, and have the chance to expand on things not addressed in the main story, such as the lore of the world and how the characters spend their days in school and with their free time. We get to see how different characters engage with each other, rather than be forced into the perspective of Yuu and/or Grim. Because of this, vignettes and event stories feel much more liberating than the main story, which feels extremely structured and rigid by comparison. The advantage that vignettes and event stories have is the freedom to build off the amazing characters and world that TWST has already established, without the pressure of having to say something profound or to shoehorn a way to get Grim and/or MC heavily involved in it. Unfortunately, vignettes and event stories tend to feel shallow because they can never be as long as the main story is, and it can be hard to keep up with them since they’re so numerous and might be locked behind time gates and the gacha system.

I think sometimes people can get too caught up in what is “better” and what is “worse” that we don’t stop to realize that everything (main story, vignettes, and/or event stories, voice lines, etc.) has worth.

Ok so Im v curious abt being poly, how does that work? Like if I dated someone in a polycule, can I date everyone else? Is there an onboarding presentation? Is it ok to have favorites? I need dets tbh

I'm gonna preface this by the usual every relationship is different so I can only speak to what it's like for me and the people I've been with and also that I'm only 18 so I don't have a ton of dating experience, at least serious dating experience (only have 1 serious relationship to date and it's w my current partner)

I'm also putting the actual answer under a cut bc it got a bit long and I'd feel bad for doing that to my mutuals lol

So for any relationship, but especially if you're poly, communication is integral !! If you're not communicating with your partner(s) the likelihood of the polycule working out is very slim, so that fuels pretty much everything. To make a poly relationship "work" pretty much all comes down to how well you communicate.

What is considered important/necessary to communicate though can vary from polycule to polycule. Like as an example, my partner prefers knowing if/when there's other people I'm interested in/talking to (and vice versa, they tell me about the ppl they're trying to get with), and that's more so bc we're long distance and that kind of thing can cut into the time we'd usually be using to talk to each other but for us that habit will probably stick even when we aren't ldr anymore bc we both like talking about cute/hot ppl we meet yk?

As for if you decided to date someone in a polycule, ideally you'd know beforehand (ideally as in like- if they don't tell you before you agreed to date them I find that a bit of a red flag), and if you wanted to date the other partners (the term for ur partner's partners is metamours btw) and they also wanted to date you then you definitely could!! But you also could just be besties with them, that was the dynamic I had with my partner's ex, we had no interest in each other but we vibed together ^^

In my experience there is a bit of a rundown given to new and old partners when someone joins the polycule. Like when I had a little summer fling I gave them the rundown of my polycule as it stood at the time and then gave my partner a rundown of the person I was seeing and things like why I liked him and what he was like. But actual presentations? Not from what I've seen lol (tho honestly? Master Doc of the polycule is a hilarious and potentially helpful concept).

And your last question is, from what I understand, a rather controversial and highly debated question. In my opinion though? You shouldn't have favorites when it comes to the people you are dating. Having favorite metamours is basically equivalent to having favorite/best friends, but your love and care towards your partners should be equal. The exact feeling of that love and care can definitely vary but you shouldn't generally prefer one partner over everyone else imo. And there's nuance there as there is with everything, like if you had a disagreement with one partner the previous day it's only natural to prefer being around someone else until things settle back down, but your overall feelings shouldn't be tipped towards one person if that makes sense.

Anyway, again, I can only speak from my very limited experiences and definitely do not speak for all poly people, but that's my two cents !! I hope it gave you some sort of satisfying answer

Hello! It's okay, it's not seen as problematic because my mons are very much anthro. They've been with my insert since 2020, and I've always portrayed them in a similar way Roger/Jessica does it.

But, I am aware there are people who don't see these mons the same way I do (including the very humanoid ones) and that's okay. Each answer varies within person to person, and combined with how big this franchise is therefore subgroups of different interests are formed (anime, games, spinoffs, furry, trainers, etc.), sometimes they're not into human x monster/furry which is also okay. Not everyone is a furry.

As long as they look humanoid or anthro with sentience, they are in the safe space to ship with for me like c'mon baracat is a clear example of furrybait.

Well sure Anon! I've touched on this before, but hey, I don't mind talking about this again. Bexxx Lore under the cut.

I first started thinking critically about this, like fifteen years ago, literally half my life ago now. I was online and discovered this artist who made this comic that first introduced to the ideas of polyamory, the comic in question was about a married couple opening up to a third and them all being a throuple, I adored it. Furthermore, I had never seen anything like that, I was raised catholic and every person, every movie, show, book, thing, had always preached the idea you are with one person and one person only and anything outside of that is cheating, bad, wrong, impossible.

So to see this, the idea, the very concept that there are other relationship dynamics, that multiple people can be with or not with multiple people in varying ways, all open and honest and communicating? That it was okay? Blew my tiny teenage bi brain wide open.

It felt, I dunno just like right, I felt attached to it very quickly, some part of me just totally clicked into place. I knew I wanted to pursue it.

The idea of polyamory is that you have the capacity for love and care and want to be with more than just one person in a romantic, intimate, and/or physical sense.

So let's jump ahead a bit.

I'm with Mr.Bex, years before he would become Mr.Bex and before we got married. We'd been dating for a while, and he knew about my polyam proclivities and suggested we try doing it. We were both very young, we got together at like 18 and 19, we had known each other a long time, knew we were in it for the long haul but had very little experience outside each other. So we decide to begin our polyam journey.

We talked a lot about ideas, what we wanted, boundaries, and we kept talking about it, and we still talk about it.

Our first experience is with one of our best and closest friends, the eventual MOH at our future wedding, we both started seeing her and it was awesome. It was a FWB thing, and it was so fucking good, it confirmed everything for me, I can do this, I can have multiple complex relationships with different people, get my needs all met without putting all the pressure to satisfy me on one person and the same for Mr.Bex.

We've been with multiple people now, both separately and together, and it's been great. We have been open/polyam for the vast majority of our relationship.

I am just a very open, caring, non-jealous person. I think I have always been poly, I just needed something to tell me it was even an option to wake me up to it.

It just fits me and what I want and need the best.

I dont know if this is part of your particular pagan wheelhouse but what do you know about the Greenman? Ive always felt super drawn to him and i once had access to an old book that went more into what seemed like the real history and deep forest figure that was the Greenman, but every-time i search for more about him online it's always very ummm watered down? Not stuff made for pagans or who are deeply curious about him, just like wiki pages. I'm not super sure how to explain it, and im still learning about all this. So i was wondering if you had any insight on him or knew of anywhere i could find some. thanks so much :)

okay so i might be completely wrong but what i was taught about the greenman from a wiccan elder i am friends with, is that the idea of him as a deity is fairly modern. big disclaimer i am not wiccan at all- but in wicca theres a lot of focus on archetypes. the greenman as a deity is believed to be the root of this "green man" design seen all over the world, usually carvings of a man who's made of foliage and represents the spring and summer forests. some wiccans have equated him with the oak king, a story from their tradition about two kings- the holly and the oak, who are in an endless battle for dominion over the forest. this story varies widely btw. i personally have only heard of wiccans honoring the greenman, usually invoking him during beltane rituals. my grove often co runs public rituals with a wiccan coven, and as a co-leader of my grove i have to be familiar with anything called during the ritual. these conversations where we share traditions with each other is what i am basing this answer on entirely, so PLEASE TAKE EVERYTHING WITH LARGE CUPS OF SALT! i am not an expert and this is out of my field quite a bit.

if you are unfamiliar with the concept of working with archetypes, the best way i could describe it is through an example. In pretty much every culture on earth, there is a trickster deity. these deities tend to be genderfluid, have associations with highly intelligent animals like ravens and coyotes, and are morally grey- just as likely to help as they are to hinder. some pagans rather than working with a specific one of these trickster deities prefer working with the archetype that encompasses them. from my understanding, this is what my friend honors the greenman as- the archetypal title for all "green men" AKA- male forest deities.

Script writing is a very personal process and I've seen you answer asks about your scripting before, I'm just curious about how much detail you need to add to your scripts in order to feel like it makes sense.

A friend of mine and I are working on a small project and I'm currently writing the script for it but I'm finding it hard to write all the detail that's necessary, do you find that drawing out what you have scripted adds more to what you initially plan?

How many drafts does it take to finalise the scripting of each page or does that vary from page to page?

Do you change dialogue a lot? And are you able to get into each character's head to understand how they'd react to certain situations?

a very important element of script writing (when it comes to writing a script that other people will have to read in order to make the final product) is not giving too much information. the people youre working with more than likely know what theyre doing and can be just as creative as you, so as the script writer you should tell them what you NEED. sometimes you need to go more into detail if those details become relevant. who knows, those might be chekhovs runic symbols! and sometimes theyre just set dressing (not worth describing in the script).

in general, as long as youre covering every detail required to make the story make sense, youre good. scripts are not the place for pretty imagery, theyre for the basic required information to be expanded on later on in the process. if theres a gun on the table, you may need to just say "theres a gun on the table," or you may need to specify that its a pistol, it all depends on what the story needs to be true.

when im drawing out my scripts, i inevitably end up adding a whole lot of material (or retroactively deciding certain details dont matter and i can cut them for ease of drawing) because thats just what ends up happening when you turn a basic description of a room into a room you see with your own eyes. and because the script is always in flux, i can even add dialogue that i realize would be funny when drawing (theres a visual gag on the next page thats referenced in dialogue, said dialogue was added after i finished the sketch)

i dont write a specific number of drafts for specific pages (nor do i know where the pages will start and end before i begin the thumbnailing phase), the whole chapters script just remains in editable form until the pages go online. there was a point where i added dialogue to a page 2 days before it was supposed to be uploaded.

hot tip here: never say a script is "finalized," ever. EVER. it will NEVER be true. musicals on broadway STILL get edited, webcomics will have pages changed or added AFTER a page is up to clarify the subject of the audiences confusion or missed implications (rarely happens but it does). scripts are always, always, always editable*.

(*in theatre, when youre doing a workshop/production of a show you wrote, there might be a point in the process (usually around tech week or opening night) when your script gets "frozen," which is production team language for "please, were begging you, stop changing this, we cant keep redoing these cues, please, god, think of the stage manager". its not unusual for scripts to continue to change throughout the performances though)

and yes, i do change dialogue a lot. when i start writing a character, it may take me a while to really Get them (cough cough phil), which is why revisions are great, so i can retroactively make a character act in the right way after ive had enough time to figure them out. there are some characters that i get so well that it feels like there is a portion of my brain dedicated to emulating their behavior, particularly flynn, leon, vermillion and lucille. viridian and violet are quickly building their own zones too.

however, dialogue isnt just about staying in character. dialogue serves a function. jokes need to be funny, conversations need to get through all their beats, etc. the first draft of dialogue may be the most in character, but it will more than likely serve its function less. because of this, its very easy to write dialogue thats LONG (real conversations are typically very long), but its very difficult to write dialogue thats SHORT (serving its purpose quickly and efficiently).

the way i do this is that i write the scene, however long it ends up being, then identify the significant points it goes through. once ive done that, i can cut material between those points (with natural scenic flow in mind) such that the scene becomes streamlined, going through all the necessary beats as efficiently as possible.

its important to not enter too utilitarian a mindset for this though! sometimes a piece of dialogue is frivolous at best but you just like it a lot. keep it! filler can be a nice experience even if it doesnt accomplish anything. that "and if anyone offers things like drugs or alcohol dont take them up on that" joke in chapter 2 couldve been easily cut, but the way i reused it pages later was WAY too funny to me, so i kept it anyway! i even recently ADDED some frivolous dialogue to a scene in a later chapter simply because it added a character detail that i enjoyed, simple as that!

“How is there only four first years? Isn’t that too few?”

“Well, have you ever met anyone who can see curses before?”

Pausing in thought, the tip of Itadori’s popsicle remains in his mouth, before he tips it towards Fushiguro; “nope.”

“That just proves how small a minority jujutsu sorcerers are.”

Leaning against the railing beside Itadori, you glance away from him and Megumi, taking a moment to gather your surroundings. Gojo has left waiting here for quite a while, and honestly, you were getting bored.

“Also,” Itadori speaks up, pulling your attention back on him. “Didn’t you say I was the fourth?”

“Their entry was decided a while ago.” Fushiguro explains, nonchalant as ever, “you know what our school is like. Everyone has unique circumstances.”

Leaning towards Itadori with a mischievous grin, you hold your hand up to give the impression of telling a secret but don’t bother to lower your voice. “They were trying to find a replacement for me,” you grin, bright eyed at the dull look Fushiguro sends you.

“You were the one who said you’d never been apart of our school in the first place,” he quirks a brow, “how could we replace you, then?”

Blinking at his quip, you’re mainly surprised he’s able to come up with one.

“Moo,” you pout, crossing your arms over your chest. “No fun.”

“Sorry for the wait.”

Blinking at the new voice, your straighten out at the sight of Gojo waving at the three of you. He makes his way steadily over, before pausing, head tilting in curiosity, lips parting; “oh? Your uniforms made it in time, I see.” Then, his eyes drift to you, meeting your gaze. “Though, I’ve had yours waiting in my closet for a while.”

Glancing down at your uniform, you pull at the jacket, eyeing it curiously. The outfit was the same colour as Gojo’s and Fushiguro’s, as expected, a deep, dark purple. Yours was slightly different then your male counterparts however, and you’d found a pair of tight fitting dress pants, a white button up, and a cropped jacket with a high collar at your door this morning.

“Yeah,” Itadori grins, sending him a thumbs up. “It’s a perfect fit. Though it’s slightly different from Fushiguro’s,” he pulls at the material, “it has a hood, for one.”

“That’s because the uniforms can be customized upon request.”

“Huh? But I never put in any requests.”

With a sigh, you cross your arms over your chest, nudging Itadori lightly; “that’s because he did.” And when he turns to look at you, you shrug. “I didn’t put in a request for mine either. Though, I’m pleasantly surprised that mine came with pants.”

Utterly and entirely too proud of himself, Gojo grins at you brightly, sending you a thumbs up; “I thought you’d appreciate not having a skirt.”

And honestly, you can’t argue with that.

“Whatever, I guess,” Itadori shrugs.

“Be careful,” Fushiguro calls out, “Gojo-sensei has a tendency to do things like that.”

“More importantly,” you speak up, raising your head as you poke your head out. “Why are we meeting up in Harajuku?” Just as you finish speaking, Itadori moves to a stand beside you, pulling your eyes on him briefly before blinking back over at Gojo.

“Because it’s what she asked for.”

“Hey!” Jumping at the sudden pike of excitement in Itadori’s voice, you turn to him as he grins excitedly at you. “Popcorn! I want some!” Without any real warning, he grabs you by the wrist, grip gentle but firm, and pulls you along, whilst you stutter in surprise.

“H-Hey! I never said I wanted some–!”

“Um… P-Pardon me?”

It takes you half a second to realize that the older man stood in front of you, is talking to you. His lips are curved into a hopeful, somewhat hesitant smile, eyes crinkling at the corners as he regards you. “Are you on the clock right now?”

Your lips part, surprised flooding your features. You take a glance back at Itadori, Fushiguro and embarrassingly enough, Gojo, stood a little ways back from you as they watch on with varying expressions of interests. Itadori just looks curious, maybe even a little lost (and honestly, it’s a little endearing), Fushiguro seems rather annoyed and Gojo? Well, you have no idea.

Despite knowing the man for so many years now, you still can’t really gauge what half of his mischievous looks are about.

“Uh, no, I’m not,” you answer, turning back to the man, before raising your hand with a soft shake of your head. “But I’m not–”

“You see,” he cuts in, plainly ignoring what you’d had to say. So much for being hesitant. “I’m looking for potential models.” You take a quick glance at yourself – what about you currently screams model right now? “This is who I am,” he continues, thrusting a card in your face. “Would you be interested?”

You miss the pair of keen and careful eyes that watch you.

“Sorry,” you bow gently, feeling suddenly incredibly uncomfortable. “I’m not really interested–”

“Oh! Just hear me out–!”

“Hey, you.”

A new voice calls, and your eyes land on a hand that’s latched itself to the man’s shoulders before glancing upwards. You’re surprised to see a girl, your age, in a similar school uniform to your own, instead hers consists of a pencil skirt.

The man turns to her with a startle.

“What about me?”

You blink at her boldness, unable to stop the grin that grows on your face.

“For the modeling gig, dug,” she continues, crossing her arms over her chest. “I’m asking what you think about me.”

“Oh, um! I’m in a hurry at the moment!” He offers a small smile, a nod your way, before moving to walk off.

She doesn’t let him off that easily.

Tugging him back by the collar of his jacket, she growls; “don’t run from me! Come out and say it!”

“Please, I’m sorry!”

“Um,” stepping forward, you try to placate the girl in letting the man go, offering a nervous smile. “Maybe you should–”

“Hey!”

Sighing in relief at Gojo’s voice, you move to rush over to him and the boys, falling next to Itadori, and spinning to face the girl with a grin.

“Okay, once again.”

Gojo gestures to the new student, and with ease, she moves to introduce herself. “Kugisaki Nobara,” she introduces herself, hand on her hip. “Be happy, boys. There’s now two girls in your group.”

Head tilting, you let out a laugh at the expressions on Itadori’s and Fushiguro’s faces.

A moment of silence passes, Nobara simply just stares at the three of you, though you notice her eyes are solely on Itadori and Fushiguro.

“I’m Itadori Yuji,” Itadori grins, leaning forward as he gestures to himself. “I’m from Sendai.”

“Fushiguro Megumi.”

She stares. Then, huffing: “I always get stuck with unfortunate circumstances.”

“She took one look and sighed,” Itadori deadpans.

“Well,” moving so you’re slightly in front of Itadori, you grin brightly at Nobara. You don’t have many friends, and even less of them are female, so you’re hoping that she won’t have the same reaction towards you. Especially with what happened earlier. “I’m Y/N Gojo, yes, as in Gojo-sensei,” you thumb at Gojo, “but we’re not related by blood, I only took his name–”

“–Hey, how come you didn’t tell me that right away!”

Sticking your hand out, you meet her eyes; “it’s a pleasure to meet you.”

She stares, and you feel your chest tighten in worry. But then, her eyes are brightening and the brightest (and maybe only) smile you’ve seen on the girl since meeting her curls onto her lips as she eagerly takes your hand. “I’m relieved to not be the only girl!”

And it’s like a weight of your shoulder.

“Hey!” Itadori calls, pouting, “how come you don’t like me!”

“Are we going somewhere?” Fushiguro cuts in, clearly tired of the conversation.

Gojo lets out a mischievous laugh; “we do have all four of you together.” He nods to himself. “Not to mention, two of you are from the countryside. So, of course we’re going on a tour of Tokyo!”

Almost immediately, as if on cue, Nobara, Itadori and Gojo all jump together, bright grins and sparkling eyes as they chant; “Tokyo! Tokyo! Tokyo!” Before, Nobara and Itadori move to stand beside each other, hands clasped with sparkling delight. “We love Tokyo.”

Shoving your hands into your pockets, you watch on with a tilt of your head.

“TDL!” Nobara cries, Itadori latching onto Gojo; “I want to go to TDL!”

“Idiot!” Itadori turns to her, “TDL’s in Chiba! Let’s go to Chinatown, Sensei!”

“Chinatown’s in Yokohama!”

“Yokohama’s part of Tokyo! Don’t you know that? Look at a map!”

Nudging Fushiguro lightly, you turn to whisper to him; “he’s not taking them on a tour, right?”

“Oh, yeah,” Fushiguro nods, watching the two with disdain on his face. “Without a doubt.”

“I will now announce our destination,” Gojo calls, silencing Itadori and Nobara almost instantly.

“Roppongi!”

Turning to each other, you swear you actually see stars in their eyes; “Roppongi?!”

“I almost feel bad,” you mumble, unable to tear your eyes away.

“Don’t,” Fushiguro mumbles, “they’re idiots.”

Staring you at the building that looks quite frankly haunted, you bite your lips.

“There’s a curse here.”

“You liar!”

“You were toying with us country folk!”

With an everlasting grin on his face, Gojo adds; “there’s a bit cemetery nearby. The double whammy of that and an abandoned building brought out a curse.”

With a pat on the back of sympathy for Nobara, who continues to grovel in disappointment, clearly pissed off, you listen in as Itadori speaks up – surprisingly, he doesn’t seem all that upset about the whole lying thing anymore.

“So they really do pop up more often around graves?”

“The issues isn’t the cemetery itself,” Fushiguro explains, “it’s the fact that people associate cemeteries with fear.”

“Oh,” his eyes brighten in understanding. “It was the same for schools, too, wasn’t it?”

“Hold up!” Nobara calls, finally straightening out, “he didn’t even know that yet?”

Scratching at your chin, you let out a nervous laugh; “well…”

“He swallowed a special-grade cursed object?!” She all but screeches as you explain, instantly creating a distance between her and Itadori, disgust clear on her facial expression. “Gross! Unbelievable! That’s so unsanitary and disgusting! No way, no way, no way!”

“What?”

“I agree with her.” Fushiguro cuts in.

“Y/L/N!”

You bite your lips as his eyes fall on you, clasping your hands behind your back while you rock on the heels of your feet nervously. “Um…” You start, voice drifting, “it was kinda disgusting.”

“What?!”

“I want to know what all of you are capable of,” Gojo cuts in, hands in his pockets as he regards the abandoned building. “Just think of this as a field test. Nobara, Yuji, you two go exorcise the curse inside that building.”

Brows furrowing, you turn to Gojo. Why was he..?

“Huh?” Itadori mumbles, “but I thought only curses could exorcise curses, right? I can’t use any jujutsu yet.”

Gojo turns to Itadori; “you’re basically half a curse already,” he reminds. “There’s cursed energy flowing throughout your body. Though controlling that energy isn’t something you can learn overnight, so use this.” Your eyes widen at the familiar looking weapon, if you remembered correctly that belonged to a second year. “It’s the cursed tool, Slaughter Demon. It’s a weapon imbued with cursed energy. It’ll work on curses, too.”

Pulling the cover off the weapon, Itadori eyes it gleaning eyes.

“Lame,” Nobara scoffs, pulling your attention on her as she moves towards the building, pulling a pouncing around the belt hoops of her skirt.

Itadori moves to follow her.

“Oh, one more thing,” Gojo calls, “don’t let Sukuna out. If you use him, you’ll get rid of all the curses nearby in a flash, but you’ll also drag everyone around into it.”

“Got it!” Itadori grins, sending Gojo a thumbs up, “I won’t let Sukuna out.”

“Hurry up now!”

“Yeah, yeah.”

“Go on, now!”

“Man, I finally join the school like you’ve always wanted me to, and you kick me out of my first official mission.”

Letting out a laugh, Gojo sits down beside Fushiguro as you frown down at him. Leaning back, he glances up at you; “sorry,” he grins.

“I still think I should go, though,” you mumble, glancing back in the direction of the building, eyeing it with worry. Biting your lip, you frown; “I mean, Itadori’s still new and everything. And Nobara’s never been in the city…”

There’s an echo of silence, before Fushiguro adds; “I think I’ll go too.”

“Don’t push yourself,” Gojo calls, “either of you. You’re still recovering.”

Huffing, you nudge Fushiguro’s foot lightly, signaling him to scoot over which he does without complain. Falling into seat beside him, your shoulder lightly touches his own, an action that completely misses you, but Fushiguro however does not. And fighting back the faint blush that threatens to grow on his cheeks, Fushiguro distracts himself by turning back to Gojo.

“Y/N’s right,” he mumbles, “someone should keep an eye on them, especially Itadori.”

“True,” Gojo nods, “but the one we’re testing this time is Nobara.”

Complying, you let out a sigh, leaning back on the palms of your hands, tilting your head up to glance at the curse practically oozing from the building.

As you do, you miss the way Fushiguro keeps eyeing you.

“That Yuji…he’s missing a few up here,” he taps his head for emphasis. “He has no hesitation when it comes to killing these things that take the form of living creatures, albeit bizarre-looking ones, to try to kill him. And it’s not like he’s been familiar with curses for a long time, like the both of you.”

You glance at Gojo, meeting his already awaiting gaze.

“They won’t leave me alone!”

“Yes, darling, but… but you’re scaring me… you’re scaring us!”

Shaking your head, a wave of heat rolls off of you, almost pulsating, and it causes those around you to flinch in fear, pushing away from you. You don’t understand, no one will listen to you – they don’t understand. They won’t understand…

You’re not trying to scare them.

“Mama, please, just–”

She holds a hand to you, stopping you from approaching – it feels like your heart might just break.

“Papa,” you turn, swiftly, desperately, but he looks at you with those same eyes. Those same fearful, disgusted eyes and you can feel the tears welling, your sight blurring. “P-Please…” You cry.

“You have to stay away, Y/N. It’s not safe for us.”

“I’m not safe!”

The words leave your voice in a screech, and you hate the way everyone backs away. This is your family, your mother and father, and your older brother and they’re all avoiding you because they’re afraid of you. They won’t listen to reason. It’s not your fault, you’re not trying to scare them – you’re scared…

You’re terrified.

But they don’t care.

“They won’t leave me! They just follow me! I’m not… please, listen to me! Mama, papa, onii-chan!”

It’s useless. They won’t listen.

They’re too scared.

You feel your heart swelling, anger flooding your senses, and the only thing in your head is; they need to understand.

In a second there’s screams. Your eyes snap open to find red, just… red. There’s so much of it, the smell of it floods your senses and makes you feel sick. The monsters that haunt your dreams, that never leave you no matter how hard you try to make them, fly past you in blurs; the red coats them.

The screams never leave your mind.

They never will.

And in the sea of red, amidst your own sobbing, you see a glow of white, and it shines so brightly you think;

that must be my saviour.

The one you’ve been waiting for.

“Yo!”

He pulls his blindfold back, and the sea of blue you see is just so beautiful, your young heart soars.

“So little to be covered in so much blood.”

“–This is a boy who used to live a normal high school life.”

Blinking at the sound of Gojo’s voice, you’re pulled from your thoughts with a startle. Ignoring the pang in your chest and the way it sits uncomfortably heavy, you ignore the sidewise glance Fushiguro sends you, placing your focus back on what Gojo has to say.

“You’ve both seen plenty of jujutsu sorcerers, even those with talent, give up in frustration because they couldn’t conquer their fear or disgust, haven’t you?”

You glance at Fushiguro, and the answer is obvious.

“So today I want to confirm how crazy she is.”

“But Kugisaki has experience, right? Little late for that now, isn’t it?”

“Curses are born from human minds,” Gojo reminds, “so their strength and numbers grow in proportion to the population. Meaning…”

“Is Nobara aware that curses in Tokyo are on a different level than those in the countryside,” you finish with a nod, leaning forward to eye Gojo. Honestly, despite being an annoyance most of the time, Gojo was good at bringing the best out of his students – so you shouldn’t be all that surprised by his tendency to search for the best either.

Still, it shocks you.

“And when I say ‘level’, I don’t just mean the amount of cursed energy they have,” Gojo continues, “it’s their cunning. Monsters that have gained wisdom often force cruel choices upon you…–”

“It’s just a kid… right?”

“–with the weight of human lives in the balance.”

Gojo’s words hang in the air, and, with a frown, you glance over at Fushiguro, only for his eyes to already be on your own.

Without having to ask, you already know why.

“Megumi–”

You’re cut off by the sound of glass breaking, your eyes snapping up towards the building, only for your eyes to widen at the sight of a curse.

Fushiguro shifts beside you; “I’ll exorcise it.”

“Hold on.” Gojo halts,

And Fushiguro almost looks appalled, stood, waiting, a second later you feel the same – only for spikes to appear through the curses body, it’s eyes bulging, and in the next second for it to simply dissolve.

“Nice,” Gojo grins, and honestly, you have to agree. That was impressive.

“She’s crazy, all right.”

“I live over there! Thanks again!”

You watch the kid Itadori and Nobara had rescued for a moment longer, even as Fushiguro and Gojo move to walk off. Peeking your head around the corner, a fond, soft smile curls onto your lips at the mother who opens the door. Obviously relieved that he sons okay, she doesn’t waste another second quickly wrapping the small boy up in her arms and practically pulling him off his feet.

You can’t remember the last time you’d felt a mother’s love.

“Y/N?”

Blinking at the sound of Fushiguro’s voice, you turn around, eyes wide at having gotten lost in your own thoughts.

“You coming?” Shoving a hand in his pocket, he tilts his head curiously at you.

“Yup!” You call, popping the ‘p’ as you push back your thoughts. Running to catch up to him, you fall in step with him, bumping his shoulder lightly with a grin to which he turns away, a light dust coating his cheeks, causing you to giggle. He was too easy to tease.

“Good Joseph!” Gojo calls to Itadori and Nobara, who decided to wait on some steps. “We made sure the kid got home.”

Almost instantly, the two stand.

“Now, shall we go grab some food?”

“Steak!” Itadori cries.

“Sushi!” Noabara follows.

With two thumbs up, Gojo grins; “leave it all to me! And, you two?”

You glance over at Fushiguro, rolling your eyes when you notice he’s on his phone, not paying attention. Shrugging, you decide to join in on the fun, pumping your first in the air; “you can’t forget about desert!”

“Of course not!”

“Y/N!” Itadori leans towards you, and you blink at the tears in his eyes.

“You finally understand!” Your eyes widen when Nobara follows him, leaning towards you with an almost proud look.

Tilting your head, your lips part; “huh?”

“Last call, Megumi!”

He continues to ignore Gojo.

“He’s just cranky he didn’t get to do anything today,” you whisper to Itadori and Nobara, giggling when he sends you a glare.

Megumi lets out a grunt, hiding his face behind his collar as the rest of you collectively let out a laugh. And as you share in the moment, glancing around, you’re starting to forget why you were so adamant on spending life alone.

Im curious, how do you get stain glass windows to look so amazing?

Short answer: practice and references are your best friends

Long answer: I tend to focus on three things in regards to stain glass, and that's the brush, colour harmony, and textures.

I recommend using an opaque brush to cleanly divide each segment of the stain glass. And depending on what you're going for, the thickness of the brush also matters. Thick brushes give a more bold look, thinner ones give a more subtle style; it depends on you! I personally like varying the sizes here and there in a single window, depending on what is meant to be more focused or subtle. Also, from what I've seen, some parts of stain glass (usually the outermost parts) tend to look symmetrical, even with an asymmetrical middle. Something something symmetry looks pretty to us.

The colour harmony really just depends on your preferences. I personally like putting a brownish-yellow overlay if I want to make it look old looking. I also like putting complimentary colours next to each other.

In regards to texture, I've noticed that old stain glass and new stain glass tend to have a different texture. Old ones tend to have a slightly more opaque glass, and often has the texture that's quite similar to rough marble. New ones seem to be more translucent and the textures seem to be less noticeable, tho still there. So choose whichever you like!

In the end tho, everything depends on what you wanna go for. These are things I noticed personally, but I could be spouting nonsense alsnkdjs. Honestly, a lot of practice and studying helps get the feel for it, so I just recommend going in and trying what suits you. Youtube tutorials are also great help if you're not sure where to start.

When will OL: N&F take place? Beginnings and Always took place during summer breaks, will now and forever take place during a fall break or will the characters be going to school at the time of the events we play through? 

It takes place over all of the fall season, so school will be happening in OL2. Some events do take place in school, though many times events only start after school is already out for the day, haha.

It’s a similar time frame, but not 100% exactly same.

Okay the crime show in Step 2: Growing up. Long blonde hair, police station, crime series? Was it The Closer? Because I’m the same age as MC and Cove and my mom was constantly watching that when I was 13. 😂 

Haha, yeah! The Closer and, to a lesser degree, Medium were the kind of shows I was referencing there. My mom also used to watch those back in the day.

Hey um this might be an odd question but if the setting of OL: N&F is  fall/autumn, what country or city will it take because my mind tells me it is either Poland or Canada. Also I can't wait for the game I am hyped 

It’s set in the USA again. We’d like to be able to have cameos and that’s easiest to do if the OL games take place in the same country.

Is it possible for the PC of OL to have non-seriously dated other people in the in between years even if they’ve had a consistent crush on Cove? 

You can causally date Baxter in Step 3 if you get his DLC and then ultimately choose Cove in Step 4. If you mean off-screen people, it doesn’t really come up, but you can certainly headcanon that. The game never says Cove is the only partner you’ve ever had.

Is there going to be a Kickstarter for Now and Forever as well? For like voiced names and stuff again? Didn’t find B&A until after it was released and I’d really love the opportunity to hear my name in the game 🥺 

Yeah, we are gonna have a Kickstarter with getting a voiced name as a reward! Though, it will be more expensive than it was for OL1. I feel bad to raise the price but we realized too late the first time around that it was being super undersold for the amount of work it took, aha.

They’d have to first like you a fair amount, otherwise the most you’d get is maybe a pat on the shoulder. If they were attached, they might hug you if you broke down crying or if you gave them super good news.

May i ask how the Derek DLC will work? I believe that there aren’t any memories in step 4 and doesnt derek’s dlc take place during that step? So will the dlc add memories? Thank you! 

Derek’s DLC will add five Moments to Step 2 (a new page will appear on that screen if you get the DLC). Then in Step 4 you’ll have to choose between playing the default epilogue or going through the Derek romance story.

Is the pc version on itch,io different from the steam version? Like an offline one or something? 

Steam has achievements, but that’s about it. Both can be played offline, if you prefer.

I've been wondering this for awhile, what determines if cove winds up with a ponytail in step 3? I've done multiple runs with different MCs with varying hairstyles. Or does it have to do with a particular moment in step 2? 

I’m afraid I can’t say exact choices that determine things. But generally it’s preference based options in the Step before that decide those things.

Any Floret Bond updates? 

No, the artist had to leave the project and it’s been on-hold. I’m not sure if I want to try working just with what we have or replacing it all entirely. The design is a bit too specific for us to easily find someone who could mimic it. Hopefully we’ll work things out later, though.

In step 3 is Cove's plan always to stay in sunset bird? 

Yeah. He is never ready at 18-years-old to make a big life change.

Step 4 is only an epilogue, so it’s just a long series of scenes one after the other rather than a collection of Moments you can choose from.

The Step 4 epilogue is free, the wedding DLC, Derek DLC, and Baxter DLC cost money.

i’m not sure how much of the wedding dlc you have planned already, or if this would be to spoilery, but what kind of wedding traditions will be included? i keep thinking about how flustered cove would get over a garter toss & was wondering if we’d see a scene like that haha. obviously no worries if it’s not included, i’ll enjoy literally anything cove related 

I don’t know for sure yet, haha. Right now we’re focused on the parts before the big day. We’ll see how many scene alterations we can include for the wedding itself later on.

I’m afraid Q’s full name hasn’t been publicly announced yet so I can’t answer here (Q and T are the first letters of the names for the new LIs in Our Life: Now & Forever).

Question; is the steam version getting a Mac update?  I purchased the dlc there thinking it had Mac support without realizing it and just wondered if I’d need to refund it to purchase on itch.io 😭 

I’m really sorry, you will need to get a refund from Steam. We do hope to have it there for Steam eventually, but have no idea of when it’ll happen. Apple requires special notarization to be an officially accepted app for their devices. We don’t have that. Steam requires having that, Itch will let you release it as an non-notarized third party app. That’s why Itch is the only place that has the Mac version right now.

would you mind posting outfit sheets for Cove in every step? it would make things a lot easier for us artists. it would save a lot of time spent looking for references 

I think we did do the earlier steps when they were finished way back in 2019 (this game took a long time to make, aha), but we can probably repost them sometime!

In our life n&f, will we be able to get into qprs/will there be more options in regards to having deep platonic relationships with the love interests? Because as an aroace individual, it would be great if there could also be emphasis on platonic love so that it's more aspec inclusive. 

It’s a little hard to say at this point. There may not be things like a wedding DLC for OL2 and so the relationship for platonic and romantic feelings might not go as far as it did in the first game. We’ll kind of have to see how much we can do based on timeframe/budget constraints that will only be set near the end of the year. But we will be keeping things like that in mind at least.

also i noticed that in some playthroughs cove would let me give him a piggy back ride, and in some he wouldn't, how come?

how does your choices affect cove's interests or looks? i replayed the game without changing any choices but i got cove to look different, is it just random?

Cove’s favorite flavors are ones with nuts and that are fruity! But he appreciates them all. Whether or not you can give him a piggyback ride depends on if your MC is fit/large enough to hold a muscular 6-foot-tall beach boy, haha.

Cove’s appearance does depend on choices and it’s generally tied to choices that are preference based rather than emotion/action based, such as which key chain you pick in Step 1.

Is it possible for cove to reject MC's proposal at the end of step 3? 

Nope. He’ll always accept.

hi! i was wondering how heavily the side characters will be featured in the our life wedding dlc? obviously it'll be cove & mc focused, but i was thinking it'd be sweet if we could take lizzie dress / suit shopping or dance with cliff at the wedding or something. 

The side characters are there about as often as they are in normal events. So, it’s clearly focused on Cove but he’s not the only person you have any meaningful moments with.

When will responses be sent out to applicants? 

I’m afraid we don’t send responses out to all applications, only ones we’re interested in offering the position to. Not everyone likes rejection emails and the amount of applications is too high to contact them all to say we’re not hiring them. We post updates on the job page when a position has news. Right now we’ve filled every role that was open.

Yeah! OL will never force you to end up in a romantic relationship with someone.

I was wondering, in the Step 3 Happiness moment, what are the different fishes Cove can compare MC to? I got "you'd be a paradise fish, because being with you is paradise," but my friend got "you'd be an angelfish." Are there more variations? 

He says paradise fish if you’re a couple, angelfish if he’s just crushing, and then a royal dottyback/queenfish/emperor tetra (based on your gender) if he likes the MC platonicly.

Hello! So, in one of the Step 3 DLCs, Cove's arm was gone. I think it was to show him putting his arm behind his back. But if that wasn't the case, did it get yeeted? 

Thanks for letting us know. That was an error we tried to fix a little while back. When did you make the save file you were playing? If it was older that might be why it happened. Or maybe the error wasn’t fully fixed after all.

Asking for your opinion, but do you think Cove would at all be into ABBA? Because all I could imagine during the car trip in step 3 was him and the MC belting to Mamma Mia. 

Haha, yeah, there’d definitely be some ABBA songs he was into.

So throughout the game, Cove can develop different interests depending on the player’s choices; does this mean that he can have different careers in Step 4? Or his is line of work in adulthood never mentioned at all?

It’s just a bonus side story that’s fully separate from the main game.

It would be nice to have one for Step 4 too, but I sadly don’t see us having time to actually do it. I don’t know, if people are still asking for more OL1 content several months from now it might be doable and worth doing.

ngl Step 4 Terry's design reads like y'all see trans guys as their assigned gender more than you see them as men to me (a trans guy)... like maybe if he isn't heavily dysphoric, I could see it, but everything you've said about him doesn't line up with that. Even then, immediate warning bells go off in my head looking at him. I wouldn't have touched the game if I saw him ahead of time.

I’m sorry you aren’t comfortable with the way the design looks. The situation with Terry is that he’s now open about who he is, but the body he was born with is still physically the same. He only came out recently as an adult and hasn’t gone through any treatments/procedures yet (his chest is flatter because he wears a binder). However, even though his body hasn’t transitioned at the point Step 4 happens, no one treats him as anything other than the guy he is. Having a trans character who’s identity is supported/respected from the start is what we’re going for in this case. But what we’re doing with Terry isn’t the only trans content we’ve ever had/ever will have in the future.

I imagine it’d be pretty opposite experiences, haha. Bae would initially think Baxter is pushy and thoughtless, but would quickly realize, oh, he’s instead a soft, considerate boy. Very cute. Baxter would first be struck with the impression that Bae is charming and gentlemanly, but then would realize that, no, he’s a sarcastic asshole. And I’m afraid we can’t reveal the personalities for the next game yet.

lots of little projects and intentions lately. cooking more, cooking new things -- nothing too ambitious just trying to make it an intentional part of my weekly schedule, and finding it really is so much more satisfying than just scavenging for snacky bullshit everyday like i too often do. sometimes finding myself looking forward to cookin up and eating what i’m gonna make. 

 i need more variety in my repetoire but im enjoying it as a physical task and the end result. and feeling the psychological and physical benefits of nourishing myself in that way. and enjoying it as a break and a relaxing, rewarding task. finding that im finally learning to plan around needing to eat, and actually making the time to cook, rather than ignoring the needs of my body until i become ravenous and have no patience. 

working on patience in general. i want to live at a slower pace. i am tired of my own frenetic impatience. i want to take the world in and appreciate it. and choose happiness, as corny as that sounds. i can direct my mind off of the ramp it usually drives onto, the ramp of obsessing and picking things apart and thinking negatively -- low moods and dark thoughts will happen and i can allow them but i can also choose to direct attention to the good things in life and positive feelings that i am so quick to dismiss or ruin with my thinking. i can exert discipline over what i do and what i think about -- and not in a repressive way. just choosing not to indulge in compulsive negative thinking. i am always searching for reasons that i am a failure or pathetic or ways in which i have fucked up. and i can choose to stop that constant surveilance of misery. and sit in the positive things. 

i want to do less. and i want to be more grateful, present, and excited with the the tasks i actually do choose to do. i am trying to move into this coming week and all the book press i have to do with some sense of gratitude. can i be generous with my energy in those moments? can i just be alert and present and non resentful during the conversations ill be having, and simply live inside of each of them as they are happening, and experience every interaction as something fresh and new? even if the questions get repetitive, each person who asks them is different -- it is a new audience, a new outlet, a new context for why that question is being asked. can i choose to experience things as they are, in the moment, instead of flattening all these varied experiences into one long slog? 

i can. like. some of it wont be fun that’s fine. but i can choose to stop making it so miserable for myself by always dwelling on the disappointments and errors and thinking only about how repetitive it is for me. i can actually listen to the other person and pick up on their energies and the needs of the moment instead of repeating the same answer by rote memory and not be present for it. some authors are so passionate about their ideas and so happy to be heard, and so curious about others thoughts that they light up when people interview them! i can be that person again. i can turn the lights back on. i can see these moments as opportunities and bring an open heart to them. 

i make my life so much worse than it needs to be by stressing, ruminating, resenting, and approaching everything on my schedule as an intrusion i just need to get through. gotta get my workout in. gotta do this writing. gotta push thru this meeting. gotta wait until this conversation is done. enough. i know that i can change the experience of life with my attitude and the pace i set. 

some days working out is one of the most pleasurable parts of my day. so gratifying, stimulating, physically satisfying and meditative. other days it is a huge pain in the ass, a barrier at the start of the morning that seems to take forever because i cannot wait for it to be over. the only difference between those two days is my mindset -- and usually some other thing that comes next, after the workout, that im stressing myself out about. i dont have to be so imprisoned by my own thinking. i can relish the pleasure of working out, of roasing up some veggies in the pan, of the sun breaking through the clouds when i’m on my walk to the coffee shop. i can stop fretting about what im doing next and just relax into reality and be, at least some of the time, happy with it.

 i know that when i put my mind to something, i can change myself. i know that i can obsess about things that matter to me endlessly. so i can choose and practice to focus on positives more instead. i can retrain my brain to do all kinds of things, i have in the past, so i can make a dedicated obsessive special interest discipline out of fixing my shitty attitude and enjoying my life.
