#It's just like... how separate Echo was from Hunter and Wrecker at the end in the last scene

not to be a downer but I am suuuuuuper worried that because Hunter is going through it and is pissed he's going to say something to Echo blaming him for what happened to Tech.
I am not prepared for that kind of pain.

WHY MAYDAY IS A MIRROR OF REX (AND ALL OF CROSSHAIR’S BROTHERS)
AKA How Crosshair predicted his own redemption arc.
There have been many comparisons made between Mayday and Rex/The Bad Batch, but I have kept myself from ranting about The Outpost for too long and I figured I should get this out there before this week’s new episode hits.
Crosshair is cynical and snarky when we meet him in The Clone Wars (as is the norm for his personality, but there’s a special edge to it in S7 E1). The first words out of his mouth are “we don’t usually work with regs.”
Tumblr media
(I am not sure who first posted this image set, so if you know who to credit please reach out).
Now in TBB E12, the episode opens with Crosshair watching regular clones being told about the retirement bill by an imperial officer. His helmet is off and they have no armor on. He’s face to face with them. He seems interested in their conversation but is still removed, separate. He still thinks this doesn't affect him.
Once he ships out to Barton 4, we meet Mayday by hearing his voice before he rounds the corner into our view. The immediate thought that flew into my mind was, “that’s Rex’s voice.” Other than Rex himself, we as the audience and especially Crosshair as a character have not heard that warm, snarky, calm tone that signifies that commanding officer’s “regular clone voice” much this season. Mayday’s voice is a little deeper than Rex’s, but he has the same commanding yet casual tone and demeanor. As weary and frustrated as he is at the lack of support from the Empire, Mayday chooses to express it with a level of snarkiness that would have made Tech, Echo, or Rex himself proud.
Tumblr media
Or as Rex once said, "It's Captain, sir."
Tumblr media
"Experience outranks everything."
Mayday and his squad are wrapped in mummified cloth strips, and he states that his men are all “dead. We’re all that’s left.” Three of them, to mimic the three troopers being forced into retirement that Crosshair had seen before arriving. They are dead men walking. And so are the rest of the clones.
Mayday brings the light to Crosshair. And starts talking to him, man to man, like a friend. Like a brother. He asks him his name. Crosshair’s first encounters with Rex were Rex going after Echo, pulling him free from mindless programming and reminding him what his name really was.
“What brought you here.” “Just lucky, I guess.” Luck isn’t a word that Crosshair typically uses to describe his experiences. He usually relies on and points out his superiority, his skills, his uniqueness. He knows he hasn’t engineered this meeting, and yet Mayday’s mannerisms are already starting to find the chinks in his metaphorical armor.
“I’ll give you the lay of the land.” Like Hunter would. “Conditions have degraded our equipment.” Like Tech could have helped with. “I’m not an explosives expert.” Wrecker is.
Tumblr media
Mayday lays out the helmets of his fallen squad in a memorial, the same way Rex and Ahsoka do after order 66. Reverence and respect for the dead, even when it seems meaningless. Crosshair has let himself be deadened by the Empire, yet Mayday treats him with interest and respect, drawing him back out of himself. Mayday even shows the same respect for the raider who had been attacking his base, saying that he was bothered that his men had left him there to die.
Tumblr media
Crosshair is still throwing up his shields, like he did at the end of season 1 when he tried to convince his brothers to join him. “We’re not like the regs, we never have been. We’re superior.”
Tumblr media
And all of a sudden, Crosshair will die if Mayday doesn’t save him. If he doesn’t fully trust him to disarm the pressure mine he has gotten himself into. He has continued to choose to step in places that are a pressure mine waiting to go off, waiting to swallow him whole. And until now he has made enemies of anyone who has tried to help him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mayday saves his life, and now they’re working as a team, silently and in unison. They realize that all this effort and loss of life has been for mere equipment (that’s for their replacements, no less). Their lives really are worth even less than the epithet "used equipment" that Nolan spits in Crosshair’s face when they first meet.
Hunter had tried to tell him on Kamino: “Can’t you see they’re using you? We’re loyal to each other, not some empire.”
Crosshair: “YOU weren’t loyal to me. I was one of you. You may have forgotten, but I haven’t. I’m going to give you what you never gave me–a chance.” Only now, after Mayday gave him that chance, is he willing to admit that Hunter was right.
Tumblr media
How many times have those words haunted Crosshair’s thoughts?
Tumblr media
Now this was interesting to me. Crosshair incidentally causes an avalanche by targeting a group of explosives in order to end their shootout, cracks fissuring up the mountainside. Once before he was maneuvered into a situation not of his own free will (when his chip is enhanced on Kamino), yet he stubbornly pursued that scenario when he chose to stay on the platform at the end of season 1. Once again, he is put into a situation against his will by being brought to Barton 4, but this time, he ends up creating a scenario where his choices from this moment will now have the opposite effect.
Mayday shoves Crosshair out of the way, saving his life once again. A pile of snow rips Crosshair’s helmet off of his face, and as Mayday is buried, Crosshair re-emerges his true self.
“We have to move.” Rex’s words throughout almost all of their Clone Wars arc. Rex is selfless, telling Echo to go with the Batch if that was the best place for him. Letting Echo leave him behind, essentially. Mayday begs Crosshair to leave him behind and save himself. They both want what’s best for others. And their examples rub off on the men they save. Echo constantly does what he can to help his brothers escape the Empire. Crosshair’s sheer stubbornness that up until now has kept him tethered to the Empire, refuses to leave Mayday behind. He can’t watch another brother die in front of him. Not anymore.
"You're still their brother, Crosshair. You're my brother too." Omega's plea to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Crosshair risks his life to carry Mayday back. A REG. He refuses to let go of him the whole journey. He lets him use his sniper rifle as a crutch. All of his defenses are finally down, and he not only cares, but is willing to show he cares, BEGS ON HIS KNEES to his commanding officer for help, to show that he DOES CARE.
Finally, this struck me. We almost never see Crosshair using a hand blaster. He’s a sniper. Yet both in his encounter with his brothers on Kamino in season 1, and his confrontation with Nolan here, Crosshair picks up a regular blaster. He’s not being the sniper, distant and removed, making a kill from afar with his own rifle. This is up close, personal, a messy choice. With a hand blaster, a regular clone’s weapon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crosshair’s conversation with Hunter on Kamino reads back as though he is pleading with himself to not make the same mistake twice, to stop running from his fears, to finally embrace who he is–a clone. To embrace his real purpose–protecting his brothers.  He’s made his choice. He doesn’t expect to survive. The vultures are circling both of them. In season 1 Hunter stuns him and he falls to his knees and then to the floor, passing out. Here, he snarls “Lieutenant,” in a sarcastic tribute to how Mayday had first addressed Nolan, and becomes an Angel of Death. He avenges Mayday and redeems himself, and once again falls forward and passes out with the last of his strength gone.

Just Borrowing
Tumblr media
Echo x Reader
@clonexreaderbingo
Square filled: "that's mine!"
Word Count: 684
Warnings: canon typical violence, injuries, blaster wounds, a little suggestive at the end
Tumblr media
This is not how this was supposed to go, you thought bitterly, tucked behind a large rock for cover. The blasterfire overhead was proof that plan A had failed… along with plans B, C, and D. The shots to your shoulder and leg only proved as further evidence.
“Hang in there,” Echo commed to you. “We’re on our way.”
“Would you hurry it up?” you groaned, firing a few shots towards the droid battalion slowly making its way towards you.
“Tech’s a quarter-klick away,” Echo assured.
“Where are you?”
There were a few seconds where no reply came, despite comms still being live. Echo was hesitating. “We’re pinned up here.”
Echo hated when you were separated in battle. Despite his general hesitancy to express his more than platonic feelings for you, he’d told you that before. He knew that being put together every mission was simply not feasible, and it could make either one of you a liability in the field, but he hated it all the same.
“It’s okay,” you reassured him. “I’ll see you back at the ship.” The comms became too cluttered with orders and warnings being bounced between the others. Tech field-dressed your wounds and helped you back to the ship, depositing you in one of the seats before running off to the cockpit to go pick up the rest of the boys. You limped over to the gunner’s nest, painfully dragging yourself up the ladder.
As the ship flew over the others’ position, you saw they were surrounded. You began firing, taking out several tanks.
“Nice shootin’, verd’ika!” Wrecker cheered, laughing gleefully as your shots along with his previously placed explosives caused a massive chain reaction, taking out most of the remaining droids.
Tech landed the ship a little ways away from the others and you decided to change out of your grimy and now burned blacks. Sitting on the edge of your bunk, you lifted the lid to your footlocker to grab- damn. This was your last set of undamaged blacks.
You scowled at your nearly empty storage, contemplating what you could do when an idea popped in.
By the time the others filed in, you were getting comfortable in your bunk in a clean shirt.
As Wrecker’s adrenaline-fueled retelling of the battle they had all just been in began to quiet down, you heard Echo’s voice.
“Where’s-”
“Bunks,” Hunter answered.
You could hear Echo’s footsteps through the ship as the others went back to talking. “Hey, are you-” he froze next to your bunk, eyes wide with surprise.
“Hi,” you mumbled, barely able to contain a grin.
Echo’s mouth opened, but the words failed to come as he seemed to struggle with the sight of you.
“Echo?” you prompted.
He blinked at you.
“I know I probably should’ve asked, but I’d gone through all my blacks and I needed something to change into. Yours was the closest, and honestly the cleanest-”
“That’s mine!” he nearly shouted in disbelief.
The shortened right sleeve gave it away pretty easily, even though you’d cuffed the other sleeve to match.
“Yeah, I just need to borrow it until we get to a base-”
“No,” he protested before clearing his throat. “I mean you- you don’t have to give it back.”
You smirked a little. “Echo, do you like that I’m wearing your shirt?”
His eyes went wide again as he sheepishly tried to find something - anything - else to look at.
“You do!” you teased, taking delight in the way his cheeks flushed to a bright red that extended down his neck.
Echo closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. When he opened them, they landed on you, the warm, golden tones sinking into your skin with an intensity you’d not seen from him before.
“I do like seeing my shirt on you,” he murmured, sitting on the edge of your bunk. “But I think I’d like to see it on the floor next to your bunk even better.”
Your jaw dropped open, your face burning hot as he smirked, patting your thigh.
“Get some rest, mesh’la," he chuckled with a wink.

Bad Batch Season 3 Episode Title Predictions
Okay, so I've poked at the trailer enough that I think I can do a series of predictions that is likely to topple like a house of cards immediately but hey what else is this month of waiting for? Here is my very rough outline of what I'd love to see in season 3 based on nothing but the trailer and Vibes.
Episodes 1-3, "Confined" "Paths Unknown" & "Shadows of Tantiss"
These three seem pretty obvious, we'll likely catch up with Omega and Crosshair first in Confined, which is likely where we'll see these clips from the trailer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As well as probably the (SAD AS HELL) discussion between Omega and Crosshair shown in the Celebrations trailer. Mix their scenes in with catching up on Hunter, Wrecker, & Echo - I'm actually really attached to the idea that Echo is searching for Tech, having not given up on him. This also parallels to Omega talking to Crosshair, about not giving up - I think that's going to be a theme this season. Can't run away, can't give up. But if Echo is searching for Tech then it might just be Hunter and Wrecker right now, likely giving us a few of their action shots together.
I do think that Omega and Crosshair's escape attempt is going to be relatively early in the season - either at the end of Paths Unknown or the very beginning of Shadows of Tantiss. I went into it more in this post and paired up a few shots of Tantiss' defense systems as well as the crashed ship with Omega and Crosshair. From the look of it, they likely don't make it off planet due to the damage and crash land and have to try to escape and, in the process, are split up and lose each other. Possibly they are able to contact the batch, who are on the way to try and get them when things go wrong.
My guess is that by the end of this three parter we'll have Crosshair reunited with the batch, or about to be, Omega on her own trying to evade Hemlock and his men, and somewhere along the line our reveal that Tech is alive because at this point I can't see them not aiming at a comeback with how hard they're trying to keep his 'death' on all our minds.
Episode 4 - "A Different Approach"
If Crosshair didn't meet up with the batch by the end of the previous three, then probably he does it here, I just get the sense that he's been gone for so long that we need to get him zipped up with the others early in the season, especially since we'll have several reunions to get to by the end of the series.
With Omega still separated but hopefully out of Tantiss at this point, they have to adjust how they plan to find her. She's now a moving target, because she's on the run still and likely unable to contact them. Echo will meet back up with them here, I think, maybe with info on wherever Tech is (my prediction: still on Eriadu in some fashion, either held with the good old pirates & smugglers or possibly by Tarkin himself, but I'm hoping the pirates & smugglers) and Rex will likely come too. I do think that they have their exchange about losing brothers here but rather than being about Tech, as the trailer implied, it's about Nemec or Fireball (or both) who possibly died getting the information. I just feel like those two are not long for this world, unfortunately.
We'll also follow Omega here, now completely alone for the first time. Previously she always had the batch, then she at the very least had Crosshair. Now she has neither and she has to try and figure out what to do. The title does dual work here, both the batch and Omega have to find a different approach in order to try and reunite.
Episode 5 - "The Return"
I feel like this is going to be a mostly Omega centered episode. Where is she returning to is the question, I still think that this refers to a place rather than a person returning. Pet theory - Cid put out several bounties on her to try and get her tracked down and rescued and she gets a blast from the past when she's grabbed by Bane a second time and taken to Ord Mantell. She of course is Not trusting Grandma Crimes anymore, but Cid is trying to redeem herself and fix what she broke.
While this is going on, the parallel return is the batch getting to Eriadu in order to set up the two parter.
Episode 6 & 7 - "Infiltration" & "Extraction
With the batch set up, they're ready to go get Tech from wherever he's been stuck! These two are likely more action oriented, with a little bit of Difficulty between Crosshair and the others after so long apart, but they find their footing well enough and begin to work together in order to get Tech out. They're 5/6ths of the way to a full family, they just have one more to get a hold of!
Episode 8 - "Bad Territory"
Getting fully into Pet Theories here but I think that this shot from the trailer
Tumblr media
is Batuu - going mostly from the distinctive looking spires here. Another possible Omega focused episode, Cid is taking her to Batuu to cash in a favor. Not one owed to her - one owed to Omega, by Roland Durand. (LISTEN HERE'S HOW INFESTED BEING RELEVANT CAN STILL WIN-)
Anyway the focus here is on Roland trying to link her up with the batch. This might be a good place for Fennec to make her reappearance too, working from the Batch's end.
Episode 9 - "The Harbinger"
I'll be real I have no idea, my ideas started getting thin right about here, but I will say the title sounds like a great place for Ventress and the Teth monastery to make their appearance (I'm assuming they'll be together) but how they would actually play into the plot if they appeared here is unclear. I do think that we'll finally get everyone together though or at least be on our way to it, in order to bring us to our next two parter.
Episode 10 & 11 - "Identity Crisis" & "Point of No Return
The team is back together and all is not well, because everyone is still suffering a severe case of the Issues. No one can agree on what to do, where to go, with the identity crisis being the batch unsure of how to move forward together. Omega of course gets immediately stressed out by it all because it seems like she finally got her family back together only for it to immediately start falling apart. Wrecker is probably right there with her. Tech & Phee have their moment together, Echo still thinks they need to fight and I think that Crosshair is going to tend towards that too. Hunter at least absolutely wants to retire to Pabu right now immediately, but as the show has been trying to demonstrate, avoiding things won't be an option because-
Point of No Return is the dreaded invasion of Pabu. The Empire followed them here in order to retrieve Omega, and they barely escape, evacuating as many of Pabu's residents as possible. Shep doesn't make it out and is imprisoned.
Episode 12 - "Juggernaut"
This is where like a full quarter of the trailer comes from because they can show us several exterior tank shots without showing who's in the damn tank. I think the point of this one will be to get Shep back, since it does look like him that Wrecker is carrying. We know that Crosshair, Hunter, and Wrecker at a minimum will go in, but I think likely Omega and Echo are there (likely together thus being why we don't see much of Echo in the trailer) and Tech might be with Phee.
Episodes 13-15 - "Into the Breach" "Flash Strike" "The Calvary Has Arrived"
Grouping these three together because I have no idea what happens here except that we're likely going to be mounting an attack to take down Hemlock and, hopefully, free all of the clones that he's been experimenting on. The time for hiding is over, they have to take a stand against the Empire. Not because they're soldiers, but because they're a family, and the other clones are still their brothers.
For the first time, we don't leave our own behind can get followed and they're going in.
The Calvary Has Arrived is not a title I can see going dark to be quite honest, it's more of a full circle moment, it's the Batch becoming who they're meant to be, a family that fights for each other and for the other clones, I will cling to the idea of a happy ending (hopefully one that sets up a continuation that might focus more on Rex and his clone rebellion) until it's ripped from my cold dead hands thank you very much. I think that after the family has spent two seasons absolutely torn apart, becoming increasingly fractured, the best ending is one that has them finally united, all six of them, for the first time.
Like Omega said. They're more than soldiers. They're a family.

My headcanons of The Bad Batch falling in love with a jedi
SO... i wrote a thing, I want to get better at writing so i'm hoping to write more of these!!please note that i've written before when i was 12- im 18 now XD so i hope to get better!!
For now, Please enjoy my headcanons for The Bad Batch!!!
My headcanons The Bad batch falling in love with a jedi reader
Sidenote
Takes place after order 66,Reader was a Jedi knight who was once mace windu’s padawan. And reader is based off a oc of a another fanfic in the works!
Hunter
Tumblr media
 Loml💖💖💖
Hmmm hunter I imagine a very VERY slow burn for him. Not to say that the rest of batch would be slow but I feel hunter would take extremely long at realizing his feelings
The man literally was a soldier then a dad-
So imagine his feelings when he and the reader actually start getting close. His heart would go doki doki and he would just be like.. wtf?
And obviously omega has to like you,how would she not like you?
Hunter will fall even harder when he sees the reader having a genuine interaction with omega.
Even though they're gone I still wanna add them so…
Cut lawquane and Suu already know what's up. Hunter can't hide it from them.
So does Rex, I'd like to think that Rex would be happy seeing his comrade falling in love after such events happened.
Hunter tried to ignore these feelings but..it doesn't work. They just grew.
As time passes he stars accepting that he MAY like(love) you
And recently with his heightened senses he has been feeling eyes on him…
Overall very confused at first and takes the time to think about his feelings.
Echo
Tumblr media
Like hunter he would be slow but not that slow, considering reader is a Jedi and went through order 66 they would have trauma.
Enter trauma buddies
I vision the reader befriending echo first. Due to the fact that echo knows how scared you might be of clones at the moment.
Despite being a bit grumpy echo is very sweet. He's very considerate of your needs. And with time,He knows what triggers you. He also weirdly helps you to open up more but you remain very quiet.
Friends to lovers trope ftw-
It would begin when the batch and reader are on a mission for Sid when things go wrong, as usual. And reader gets lightly hurt and echo's freaking out
Then he hears a laugh
"Won't you calm down? I just sprained my foot. I can heal it" you chuckle with a gentle smile
And echo's face just goes red
Also to note, this man will ALWAYS be at your side. He's a puppy and it's adorable.
Also staying up late and planning for future missions are yours and echo's thing don't @ me.
Tech
Tumblr media
ayo this GIF
OOHH  I just love this man's to he reminds me of myself knowing a lot of useless info-
I think tech isn't very shy? Maybe to an extent!but i think he wouldn't really show much as the others.
in the beginning you and tech wouldn't be very close, but one day you ask him what he's working on  out of boredom and he goes on to tell you the whole declaration of independence-
he's used to people zoning out while he's explaining (cough) wrecker (cough)
but no, to his surprise you're still actually interested!!
and you listened.
after this tech somewhat limits himself to talking to much but he always ends up getting lost in his words. Especially if what peaked his interest is in depth. But you never seem to mind.
Like echo he would be next to you always. His go to if you will when he needs help
And get ready from a lot of questions about jedis and the order i feel like he would be very curious about that topic.once you get comfortable talking about it of course.
a couple of months  with being with the batch you go on a separate mission on a lead that your old master might be alive.
after you first told the batch of this tech was strangely quiet for the rest of your time there…
Wrecker
Tumblr media
•Ngl I haven't really thought about this one, But I'll try my best!!!
•wrecker is a very fun loving man, and that's very admirable.
• I imagine wrecker would be the one to get readers out of their shell more faster than the other guys.
•What do you expect? He's so lovable.
•but this of course didn't come with its own trial and errors…
•in the early stages there were sometimes where he would try to help you out, however this meant grabbing you and throwing you up a high wall when you could've forced jumped-
•as you can imagine reader was caught of guard °_°
•But all was forgiven when the wrecker sought you out privately and awkwardly apologized.
•for falling in love. The feeling would come to him awkwardly and he somewhat embraces that!
•this would include giving you random trinkets that remind you of him
•inviting you out to his tradition with omega after missions
•being protective during missions
•compliments
•being very obvious.
•I mean…More obvious than hunter and echo combined.
Crosshair
Tumblr media
Damn that gif STGG
•whoever told you this mf would be sweet to you if he ever did like you-
•idk what to tell you💀💀
•you know that thing children do when they have a crush on another kid and there just mean to them?
•that's crosshair.
•I knowW this man would be anything but nice to you.
•and that because he's most likely not used to liking someone.
•that being said, I read somewhere that crosshair would make you chase after him. I find that true imo, idk it just makes sense to me he would do that-
•BUT I do also think he would be the one who lowkey flirts with you the most but he would be very VERY subtle,And only do it when he gets comfortable with you. Examples being when you and him would be bickering and he would say something that would make you stay quiet and he uses that God daMn nice voice of his-  or with subtle touches.
• I do like to think that as time passes by he gets a bit more bolder and somewhat overprotective-
•also the reader actually taking the time to know crosshair would be very appealing to him I think, I just feel crosshair needs someone to talk to in Canon, just don't let him know you're a Jedi🗿
Tumblr media
Uhh idk how to end these,..but i do really hope to write more!! as for request im not sure about that just yet!!anyways if you read this far thank you!! please be kind as this is my first time writing this kind of stuff;; okay enjoy TBB and stay safe!!!!

Modern AU Cat Batch
Hcs for a modern AU where each batcher has their own kitty that looks remarkably like their very own cat avatar.
(TW for mentions of euthanasia and past animal neglect and abuse)
- Starting with Hunter, his cat companion is a long haired tortoiseshell they adopted off the streets. He's their first cat and ironically Hunter becomes the most attached to him despite being the most opposed to getting a pet. Because cats are a big responsibility and not to mention costly, but also he definitely doesn't get up at 6 am to feed the cat before anyone else and that's definitely not lap space he's making for it and of course it was Omega who picked out the red collar with the skull pendant. Trust me.
- Tech's furry friend is a Modern Siamese who was given to him for his birthday by shelter owner and part time antique dealer Phee. Tech jr was abandoned at the shelter for being 'too chatty' and 'having eye problems' and Phee - a long time friend of the group they met at the vet's and rightfully angry that someone would abandon a pet for traits common to the breed - decides he would feel right at home with the batchers who already have one cat. And of course, the sweet curious Siamese reminded her of someone.
- Echo's Cornish Rex was part of a cattery and was meant to be used as a 'stud'. But because he wasn't neutered he wandered off outside one day and got hit by a car. His owners paid for his surgery and prosthetics but decided they would no longer use him for breeding. And Phee being Phee instantly recognized who the poor little fellow belonged with. Echo didn't hesitate a second before accepting the little guy (who had grown thin and shy from all the stress) and helped him learn how to use his prosthetics while nursing him back to full health.
- Lulu (originally named Lucas) was a chubby British Shorthair who was injured in a fireworks accident and whose owners bailed on him once they saw his surgery bills. The batch helped Phee organize a charity campaign to cover the costs in which Wrecker was very active - talking to people, posting photos with Lulu and spreading the word. Once the sum was raised and Lulu had recovered it was time to put him up for adoption. Wrecker parted with him reluctantly - they already had three cats and a fourth one would be too much - but seeing how attached he was to Lulu the batch decided to surprise him by adopting Lulu secretly. Wrecker may or may not have cried when he saw the adoption certificate.
- One day Phee's employees bring in a tom who's been captured in the street after reports of an aggressive cat. It's a gray haired Oriental Shorthair who shows signs of having been abused by his previous owners and is extremely distrustful of humans. Normally the procedure is to contact the owners but Phee is so angry at the state of him that she quietly dechips him and throws away his collar (she's seen too many abusive owners get away with it to risk letting them know they found him). They try to rehabilitate him but with little success. There's talk of putting him down because several employees have already been badly clawed and as a last desperate resort she asks Hunter to try and socialize him in a home environment (seeing as the batch already had ample experience with abandoned/injured cats). Hunter agrees and they start by giving him a separate room, spending a little time with him each day and giving him treats to create a positive experience but despite all their efforts he remains hostile and just keeps hissing and swiping at everyone. By the end Hunter's reached the end of his rope and despite hating the thought of having to hand him over to be put down, he doesn't see how the tom could improve. That is until one day when Crosshair comes back from a prolonged business trip. He listens to Hunter's exhausted retelling of events, stays quiet for a bit and then goes into the cat's room and just... sits there for a bit. Keeping his distance, minding his own business and not paying attention to the cat at all. At first the tom treats him the same as everyone else but then the hissing becomes less frequent and he slowly starts coming out of his hiding spot. It's a slow process but one day Hunter finally enters the room to find the tom sprawled over a reading Crosshair's lap, purring contentedly while stretching out belly up. Needless to say they don't return him to the shelter and he slowly becomes part of the family. Even though he has a clear favorite.
- And finally, after weeks of Omega complaining about not having a cat copy of her own, their stray brings in an orphaned ginger kitten. For a while Hunter vehemently denies any suggestion that his cat is acting 'motherly' towards the kitten. Nobody buys it. Eventually he stops trying altogether.
(If y'all thought I wouldn't make Crosshair's part the longest, you clearly don't know me. Also I will draw all of them one day... one day.)

I just. The theme of guilt. In Hunter. And Wrecker. And Crosshair. These three specifically.
Hunter is the one who calls the final shot. Makes the final decision. It's his word.
He had to make them leave Crosshair on Kamino. He had to make them work for Cid on dangerous mission after dangerous mission. He had to make Tech leave him behind. He had to choose not to trust Crosshair. He had to choose to let them sit in watertight chambers they didn't know would work. He had to make them leave Crosshair again. Hunter picks and chooses everything. He has to make the calls. He has to pull through. He has to prioritise.
He helped Tech get on top the rail cart.
Do you ever wonder how many times these decisions play through his head? The amount of sleepless nights, tossing and turning, thinking over and over about what he could have changed? Could have fixed? He could have saved Crosshair from the beginning, he could have avoided Cid. He could have found Phee and Pabu another way, he could have stayed with Rex. Things didn't need to happen the way they did.
Tech didn't have to die. Crosshair didn't have to be stuck with Hemlock.
These are the things Hunter mulls over, countless nights, days, hours, spent thinking of what could he have done different? He'll never be able to go back. He'll never be able to change.
He barely got to teach Omega anything. She, full of life, full of joy and wonder, lost to monsters Hunter was supposed to protect her from. And in the end, Omega was lost trying to protect him.
Him, who could hardly keep his brothers from falling other the edge. Literally and figuratively.
Hunter's lost everything. And he can only blame himself.
And Wrecker, sweet Wrecker. Wrecker who fought through the chips control for days. Who struggled and choked back every little instinct until it was physically impossible. Who, while holding his brother in a death grip, fought with everything he had not to kill him. It would have been so simple for him. Wrecker thinks about just how simple far too much for his liking.
Wrecker thinks about how easily he went through them. How easy it was to knock them down and beat them. Wrecker could have ended the entire squad, and no one would've ever known. Wrecker didn't even need his second hand. He thinks about that constantly.
He thinks about how hard everyone else seems to have it. How stressed Hunter is, how angry Echo became, how Tech always put himself into trouble. How Omega had begun to notice the troubles of the galaxy, and the struggle she would always have. Wrecker couldn't protect them, not from that. He tried, truly he did.
Everything from physically to mentally. Watching their backs to comforting them. Shouldering weight when he could, anything to ease the stress, to quell the pain. His strength stretched thin wasn't enough. Crosshair never came back. Echo left to fight without him. Hunter let them leave Pabu. Tech fell.
Wreckers fear had always stemmed from falling. He never imagined he'd fail to catch any of his brothers. He couldn't do anything but watch, shouldered to the side again. His strength wasn't enough again. Wrecker doesn't know what he is if not his strength.
It kills him, not knowing. Being so useless when he's meant to be in his element.
I guarantee he regrets not listening more. Not paying enough attention. Not realising just how much he'd miss it. The silence gives him time to simmer. Wrecker misses the days he didn't know that would happen.
Oh, Crosshair. I have not forgotten him.
Crosshair has watched himself hurt his brothers for maybe months. He's watched himself hunt his brothers like they were animals. All he wanted was for them to be together again. He had no idea the price was so large.
He can't separate himself from the chip. He can't separate himself from the clone that shot his brother in the arm. From the clone that almost incinerated his brothers with an ion engine. With the clone that, despite wanting to be whole, couldn't bring himself to bend his own twisted morality for them. His brothers. Who he had convinced himself he'd done all this for. He spilt this blood for them.
Why couldn't he care for them normally? Crosshair questions that every day.
Why could he care more for a reg than his own brothers? They left because he didn't want to go with them. His loyalty drove them away. And it was that loyalty that drew them back in. Drew his brother to his death. Drew Omega to the last place Crosshair wanted her to be.
He tried to make up for it, and now everything's worse than before. To Crosshair, he's once again brought about an end to their lives. He's tainted, ripped apart another part of them.
Crosshair is the reason they had to run. They could have pretended. Crosshair wouldn't have given them up. Ever. Yet his selfishness, his own personal vendettas pushed them away. Crosshair hasn't even thought to blame the system they tried to save him from.
Now, he's living with the consequences of his attempts at saving their lives. They'll never know how hard he fought for them, all they'll ever know is what happened because of it. What happened because of brotherly devotion.
Crosshair won't be able to fathom that Tech was a result of shared adoration. He'll only see it as another failure on his part. As everything he's ever done has been.
I just- guilt and the bad batch. The way its woven into their souls. It hurts me so much.

Your job was boring, but it was steady work. It kept you busy on a very isolated planet, but as the months went by, the duties became mundane and the hours grew longer. Regardless, working for the Kaminoans as a management assistant did, in fact, have its perks. The best one? Spending time with your favorite guys, the Bad Batch and Rex. They had come to be your closest friends, who made your endless days at work tolerable.
You’d befriended a lot of clones on a casual level, many from the 501st. Often you’d catch a hint of flirting from them in daily conversation or lingering glances at your body as you’d pass them in the halls. It makes sense, you thought, of course, they’re all likely to have similar tastes in women. Your bosses didn't particularly like that you were so friendly with them, but never directly ordered you not to socialize with them, so you took advantage of the interactions in order to keep yourself sane on a daily basis.
Regardless, you found yourself around Hunter and Rex most frequently. Whether it be because your specific duties put you with them or just because they went out of your way to be near you, you happily welcomed it.
Finally, after what felt like a lifetime of the boys being gone on countless missions and assignments, they’d returned to Kamino. You joined them for a relaxing evening in their shared common room for your usual game night. Crosshair, Wrecker, Echo, and Tech had gone to bed in their separate rooms for the night, leaving you alone to play a very interesting game with Rex and Hunter. You had to admit that you were happy the night ended with just the three of you. The soft spot you had for them begged for their individual attention.
The game was truth or dare, which is usually a very dangerous game. But tonight, it proved to be mild and mostly innocent. The questions and dares were pre-written on cards. The rules said you had to randomly select a card to ask or dare the other players. You were happy to do anything if it meant hanging out with them.
Rex’s fingers landed on a card that presented the next question in your game. It was your turn, which is why Rex’s face subtly lit up when he read the question.
“What’s your wildest fantasy?”
Maker.
Why did THAT have to be the question for your turn? All the other questions had been innocent or funny. Just your luck.
“Like sexually?” You were taken aback. Perhaps you misinterpreted the question.
“Obviously” Rex scoffed with a chuckle, “I mean, unless that makes you uncomfortable”, he clarified, his eyes growing wide. The last thing he wanted was to make you feel uncomfortable in any way.
“I…don’t have one” You lied, knowing damn good and well your wildest fantasies were sitting right in front of you.
“I don’t believe that” Rex laughs, fiddling the card around in his fingers. Hunter stared at you with intent. He was reading you. Thank the stars he was only perceptive, and couldn’t read minds. If he could, you’d be caught in a second.
“It’s true!” You insisted.
“She’s lying” Hunter crossed his arms with a smirk on his adorable face.
“Fine, why don’t you guys share your wildest fantasies?” You rebutted with a playful tone.
They both shared a hesitant glance.
“No, that’s not how this works sweetheart” Hunter shook his head as Rex tossed the card to you.
“Give us a hint at least”  Hunter persisted.
“Fine. Men” You said. That was vague enough, right?
“Men…like more than one?” Rex smirked, raising an eyebrow to you.
Oh, stars. Maybe you did give away too much.
“No…like…y’know just men” you stumbled over your words, “I like men”
“Hm” Rex looked at you as if he was still trying to figure it out.
“She got nervous when you said that” Hunter turned to Rex, before mischievous looks appeared on their faces.
“Okay, I see. So a threesome?” Rex assumed.
“I guess” You shyly confirmed. It was true, just not the whole truth. You omitted the detail regarding who you wanted a threesome with.
“I think there’s more to it” Hunter suggested.
“What do you mean?” You cut your gaze at him, wondering where he was going with this.
“Your fantasy gets a little more specific, doesn’t it?” Hunter sat up in his chair, his voice growing rough and quiet.
“Rex, I think she wants a threesome…with us” Hunter said, his eyes now full of lust and arousal. Gods, he was right. You weren’t sure how he knew, or if it was just a lucky guess, but you weren’t able to hide the look on your face when he said it.
“Interesting” Rex leaned back, bringing his hand to rub his chin in consideration. He was secretly excited and certainly on board with the idea.
“Okay fine!”  You shouted at a whisper, your cheeks glowing a rosy shade of red, “Yes, I do. Happy?”. Covering your face, you feared how they’d react.
Hunter erupted in an adorable laugh that quickly faded as they both turned their attention to you without another word spoken. As you looked up, their hungry gazes scanned you.
"Alright, Hunter, your turn" You interjected the silence, seemingly changing the subject, but neither of them pressed any further. Hunter and Rex were too considerate to keep that conversation going if they thought you didn’t want to discuss it anymore. That didn’t mean they weren’t obsessing over the thought, which made it hard to keep the bulge in their pants from growing as they imagined it. They knew the thought of fucking you wouldn’t leave their minds. Not even if they stroked themselves later pretending it was you. Nothing was going to cure this craving, but their imaginations would have to be enough.
"Dare" He stated quickly. Hunter thought maybe this dare could lead you all back to another topic to tighten the sexual tension in the room.
You enthusiastically leaned forward to pull the next card from the "dare" deck. No words could've described the convenient timing of the card you pulled.
"Do whatever the person holding the card says to do" You smirked seductively as the words left your lips, "You know what, I think I'll bend the rules here a little bit. This one applies to both of you"
"Hit us with it, sweetheart" Rex eagerly accepted.
The arousal forming within you at even the thought of what you were about to suggest greatly excited you, fueling your confidence to boldly say it.
"I dare you…to fuck me"
It was obvious that Hunter suddenly became flustered, shifting in his seat, feeling himself becoming worked up hearing you say something so dirty. Rex swallowed hard and sat up straight, also seemingly feeling the sexual frustration within him begin to ache.
“So?” You threw up your hands, impatient from the silence and eager to possibly live out your fantasy after all. Rex's precious expression of excitement couldn't be hidden by the stoic front he tried to present as he looked to Hunter. Their wordless agreeance with one another translated to you instantly.
"Is that really what you want?" Rex questioned, needing your reassurance before going any further.
“More than anything” You purred.
“Come on, then” Hunter gestured with his head to the hallway where his room was located.
Adrenaline pumped vigorously through your veins, eliminating any pesky feeling of nervousness or timid behavior. It was all happening so fast, but felt so invigorating as you imagined the heaven you were about to experience in his room alone with both of them.
They both stood to their feet first before Rex walked to you, holding out his hand for you to help yourself up.
What a gentleman, you thought.
The walk down the hallway was intimidating, knowing the other boys were fast asleep behind each of their doors. Thankfully for you all, the walls were thick, and hopefully soundproof. As you found yourself in Hunter's room, you admired how spacious it was, and wondered how he was lucky enough to have such a large bed, plenty big enough for you three to indulge yourselves.
"On the bed, princess" Hunter commanded while he and Rex worked to remove their outer layer of armor, leaving themselves only in their black under-layers as you laid back comfortably, anxiously awaiting the feeling of their wandering hands on your body.
It was as if they rehearsed it, with the way they towered over you together, Rex pulled away at your top, while Hunter worked to remove your pants. Within seconds your bare skin was exposed to the chilled air of the room, sending goosebumps across your body.
"Oh, Y/N, you are so beautiful" Rex praised sweetly as they stood back to get a better view of your bare body on display for them. They couldn't believe this was happening, and truly they felt like the luckiest men in the galaxy knowing they were about to have you moaning and melting beneath them.
"Fuck, look at her. So perfect" Hunter whispered, his jaw tightening.
"Rex, come here" You instructed, holding your hand out for him to grab, pulling him gently to the bed. He wanted you so bad he couldn't stand it, which is all the more reason for him to be a little nervous, and you could tell. As he hovered above you, your fingers found the bottom hem of his shirt and pulled it above his head. The chiseled, slightly scarred body in front of you was a dream to look at, and you admired every inch of it.
Hunter, showing more confidence than Rex in this situation, had removed his shirt, too, and sat next to you on the edge of the bed while Rex found his confidence in attacking your lips, wrapping you into a passionate kiss. The electrifying feeling of his touch with the sudden caress of Hunter's fingers traveling slowly up your thigh was already so deliciously overwhelming.
Rex's lips moved down to your neck, allowing Hunter to sweep in to place his eager lips upon yours. His hand rested hesitantly in the crease of your thigh, unsure if you were ready or not. Arousal was already pooled in between your legs.
"Touch me...Maker, do whatever you want to me...both of you" You begged breathlessly, needing them to handle you in every way they ever dreamed about.
"Well, you heard her, Hunter" Rex smiled, teasing intermittently between the sweet pecks upon your neck.
With your back now pressed firmly into the mattress, they began overtaking your body as you'd asked. Rex peppered more kisses slowly down to your breasts before taking your sensitive nipple into his mouth sucking gently, earning a light whimper from your lips. Hunter held his face close to you, barely leaving any space at all between your lips and his, watching your expression as his fingers found their way to your already wet entrance.
"Kriff...Rex, she's soaked already" He teased, looking down at the desperate look on your face.
"Good girl" Rex praised how turned on you were, his hands wandering every square inch of your body.
"Very good girl" Hunter reiterated. He wanted to watch you when he finally touched you where you needed him. Fingers trailed up your slit, finally finding rhythm on the bud of your clit. Your body twitched subtly at the contact with the release of a soft moan that was music to their ears.
"We've barely gotten started with you, sweetheart, are you sure you can handle this?" Hunter playfully asked, applying more pressure to his motions.
Nodding with a smile, you pulled at Rex's pants, not able to form the words you needed right now. You had to be dreaming, you thought, this was everything you'd ever wanted.
"Oh, you want this?" Rex teased as he pulled his aching cock from the restraint of his pants. With an affirmative nod, you moaned so desperately at the sight.
"Turn over" Hunter instructed. You did as he asked, and positioned yourself on your hands and knees. Rex, also on his knees, lined the tip of his length up to your open mouth, while Hunter moved behind you, trailing his hand up the back of your thighs before sliding two fingers into your pussy.
You whimpered at the feeling at the same moment that Rex's cock filled your mouth completely. The sweet sound of his expressive pleasure filled the air with your own. Hearing Rex enjoying the sensation of your mouth sent a flash of heat through your veins. His hands rested gently on your head while you began to suck him off.
Fingers pumped in and out of you with perfect rhythm as Hunter curled his digits with every motion. The angle at that he fucked you with his fingers added even more of an overwhelming feeling as he brushed your g-spot so effortlessly. Your moans were muffled from your occupied mouth, but Hunter still heard how good he made you feel.
"Yeah, you like that, princess?" He growled, leaning down to whisper into your ear, "just wait until you feel my cock inside you"
You swirled your tongue around Rex's cock with the bobbing of your head. It was a struggle to focus on your motions when Hunter was working so fervently to bring you to your climax. They both deserved your full attention, and you were going to give it to them.
"She feels amazing, Sergeant, ah- fuck, so good" Rex stumbled on his words as he focused on his pleasure.
"Oh yeah? I think I'll have to feel her for myself" Hunter chuckled softly and sadistically, so eager to be inside you he could hardly stand it anymore.
"I can feel you tighten around my fingers, sweetheart, go on. Come for me"
The tightening coil in your lower belly was begging to burst open, and with just two more glides of his hand, it washed over you so suddenly. You moaned loudly, pulling off of Rex’s cock to properly breathe as your body was overtaken by euphoria.
“There you go, Y/N” Hunter encouraged you, keeping his pace as you clenched around him.
“Just like that, baby, you sound so pretty when you come” Rex praised you, running his hand through your hair while he stroked himself next to your face, allowing you to enjoy your orgasm without worrying about him for a moment.
Their approving moans graced your ear while the tingling pleasure fizzled slowly. They were completely enamored with you, watching your every single move and reaction to the effect of their touch.
“I’m gonna fuck you now, sweetheart, okay?” Hunter warned you now, and even the words made you clench around the emptiness left from where he removed his fingers.
“Please, yes. I need your cock” You begged with a tiny whimper, your hips instinctively backing up against Hunter.
“Such a filthy mouth, I think you need it filled again” Hunter chuckled, grabbing a handful of your ass.
Rex nodded to him with a precious smirk, pressing the tip of his length against your swollen lips again. The sudden sensation of Hunter's cock pressed against your cunt earned an eager moan from your throat, sending vibrations over Rex as you continued to suck him off.
The fullness overwhelmed your senses as Hunter fully sunk himself into your wetness. He choked on a strangled moan, finally able to feel what he'd dreamed of for so long as he bottomed out. Rex and Hunter found sync and rhythm together as they thrust in and out of you from their opposite ends. It was more intoxicating to you than you'd ever felt in bed before. Nothing compared to being absolutely worshipped by these men who wanted nothing more than to focus on your own pleasure.
You melted at the sounds they made, so sweet and arousing, as they found satisfaction in what you provided to them. You'd hoped that what you assumed before was true about the sounds not escaping the walls around you, because if the adjoining rooms had any clue of what was happening in this room, your relentless cries would've been the dead giveaway.
You loved looking up at Rex with his cock in your mouth, but you wanted to see Hunter while he fucked you, too. As you pulled away from sucking Rex, Hunter took note of how you tried to watch behind you.
"You want to watch, sweetheart?" Hunter purred. Hearing him speaking softly in such a naughty context sent chills down your spine.
"Yes, I want to watch, please” You pleaded, moaning through your words before returning to lick all of Rex's length.
"I think its Rex's turn to feel this sweet cunt of yours, yeah?"
The motions of Rex's thrusts into your mouth faltered only at the sound of his suggestion. He wanted to feel your pussy, but was so patient to wait his turn.
"She's ready for you, Rex” Hunter groaned as he removed himself from you and Rex did the same. You were empty...so painfully empty. You wanted...no...you needed to be filled again.
They both used their strength to turn you over onto your back again. Hunter moved swiftly as he sat next to your face, propping your head on his thigh, putting your eye level with his length, and giving you the view you wanted. Rex wasted no time, sinking suddenly into your wetness. An animalistic, desperate moan escaped him.
“You gonna watch me fuck you, princess?” Rex smiled so sweetly before his mouth fell open and his brows furrowed together.
Using your moisture that still coated Hunter’s length and the pre-cum that leaked from his tip, you began to stroke him firmly. He twitched at the contact, but groaned deeply as the pleasurable sensation kicked in again.
As Rex fucked you hard, his thighs slapping firmly against yours, Hunter cupped one of your breasts into his hand, gently caressing your nipple. The other hand traveled slowly down to your aching clit that begged to be touched again.
"You're being such a good girl for us, letting us fuck you like this" Hunter praised sweetly, watching you writhe and squirm with the motions of his fingers. Once again, they both found a rhythm in what they were doing, pushing you so close to the edge. As you continued stroking Hunter, he subtly thrust his hips into your fist.
"Fuck, I-...I'm so close" You whimpered.
"Come on his cock" Hunter whispered to you, keeping consistent motions on your clit, “you’re doing so good”
An unfamiliar sensation built deep inside you with the approach of your second orgasm. The growing pleasure that centered itself in between your legs exploded, radiating out through your veins, overwhelming you so wonderfully. As you came, that unfamiliar pressure released itself, coating Rex's thighs and Hunter's hand as you cried out incoherent profanities.
"Oh, maker" Rex relished in how arousing it was watching you squirt on him. Hunter deeply moaned as he watched it, too, the look on his face showing pure pride for what they'd made you do.
You held your mouth open in shock, knowing you'd never done that before, but it felt so good.
"That's never...stars, that has never happened before" You breathed heavily as you came down from the most intense orgasm you'd ever felt. You hardly noticed you were trembling.
"Give us another one" Hunter commanded, returning to rubbing your clit once more.
"I can't, fuck, it's too much" You whined as your overstimulated body twitched and squirmed with Rex’s cock still deep inside you. Hunter smirked, laying his arm across your chest to hold you down. He knew you needed more, and they were going to give it to you.
"Yes, you can princess. You can take it" Rex encouraged you as he started to move his hips again.
You were so sensitive but still truly wanted to feel that again. The craving to experience another release outweighed any hesitation. Leaning up, propping yourself on your elbows, you took Hunter into your mouth and let him fuck your face while he still worked make you come again.
“I won’t last much longer, Y/N, Kriff you feel so good” Hunter praised, using your skilled tongue to get himself off.
“Me either. She’s so tight” a soft whimper trailed the end of Rex’s words.
The sensation crept up to you again, quicker than before. The brushing of Rex’s cock against your g-spot, the firm pressure against your clit, and the way Hunter used your face for his own pleasure pushed you closer and closer to the edge.
“Right there, yes, don’t stop” You begged so desperately, pulling off Hunter’s length to breathe. Quickly he pulled you back onto him.
Before you could even prepare for it, your third orgasm washed over you like a graceful wave, the pressure unleashing itself as you came for them again. You soaked them both again, earning approving grunts and moans from them as they watched in awe of you. You were a mess of whimpering that was muffled by Hunter’s cock that nearly choked you as he made you take all of him at once.
“That’s our good girl, fuck, you’re soaking us” Rex praised, his thrusts growing harder as he chased his own high. You were slowly coming down the rush of your orgasm and felt your legs grow weak as they trembled.
Their pleasurable expressions filled the room as they both grew louder, knowing that know that you were taken care of, they could use you as they pleased to reach their own release.
With a couple more thrusts, you were suddenly filled with cum on both ends of your body as they spilled themselves inside of you simultaneously. A tear trickled down your cheek from how much Hunter had filled your mouth, his tip pressing at the back of your throat. They both removed themselves so slowly, and as you swallowed all that he gave you, Hunter softly wiped your cheek before kissing you gently on your red and swollen lips. Rex’s cum began slowly dripping out of you, and you loved the feeling.
Rex and Hunter both collapsed on either side of you in bed as you all floated back down from your intense highs.
“That was…” Rex started, breathless and speechless.
“Fucking amazing” You finished for him.
“I’ll say” Hunter chuckled.
Your wonderfully aching body fell tired so suddenly. They both looked over, admiring you.
“Let’s get you cleaned up, yeah?” Hunter suggested, standing to help you to your feet. They showered you with the gentle attention you needed in your exhaustion and helped you bathe before laying you down tenderly in bed.

Hey Morgan! I came across this prompt and thought it would fit well with your fics:
“How could you just abandon her like that? She needed you!”
“It was— It was complicated, okay?”
Feel free to use or not to use but I thought you could do something really cool, creative and interesting with it! Feels like a Hunter, Crosshair, or Tech thing to me but thought I'd throw it your way!
Oooh this is an interesting one! Thanks, my friend!! 💜 I'll make this a Tech one since I haven't done anything for him in a while! Let's give our favorite smart Clone some love!
"Barricade"
Pairing: Tech x fem reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What should've been an easy, calculated explosion to seal in some gundarks behind you and Tech ended up being a huge mistake.
You thought you had made the shot precisely enough that the ceiling would only collapse between you two and the gundarks trailing you, but it did more damage than you anticipated. The whole ceiling had started to come down.
"This is not going as anticipated!" Tech called out as you ran.
You replied, "Tell me something I don't know!"
Right then, you heard a loud crack from directly above you and you could tell that the ceiling was about to give way and Tech, who had gotten ahead of you, was going to be directly impacted by the debris.
"Tech, look out!" you yelled, picking up speed and shoving him forward. Just as you did that, a section of the rocks above you came down and a heavy impact hit you on the back of your head and neck, a sharp pain shooting through you as you collapsed to the ground and everything around you went dark.
Tech, after being pushed, skidded to a halt upon hearing your cry of pain and he shouted your name, running back to you. However, the ceiling continued to cave in and he couldn't get close enough to you before it all came down, separating you two. He moved back a few feet, waving his hand through the cloud of dust that had formed and continued calling out for you. To his concern, there was no reply.
"Oh no," he said aloud with worry. While he was strong, he knew he wouldn't be able to move all of the rocks and debris on his own. He'd have to have the rest of his squad help him. In order to do that, though, he had to get out of the cave and run back to the Marauder because he knew comms would be no good. There was too much atmospheric interference on this planet.
He turned on his heel and ran back in the direction of the cave entrance, overwhelming guilt eating at him inside. He didn't know if you were alive or dead and he hated the thought of leaving you in there alone, but there was no other way. You had saved his life and he was leaving you to an uncertain fate in order to return the favor. He could only hope he could get his brothers and make it back in time.
Minutes later, he spotted light from the outside and made his way out of the cave, now booking it as fast as he could for the Marauder.
"What happened?" Hunter questioned as he saw Tech coming. "And where's (Y/N)?"
Catching his breath, Tech replied, "There was...an unforeseen cave-in. She's...trapped inside."
"And you just left her there?" Wrecker questioned.
Then Echo added, frustrated, "How could you just abandon her like that? She needed you!"
"It was--it was complicated," Tech responded. "The fallen debris separated us and I knew I could not get through the barricade alone. That and I could not comm any of you. I need your help. Her life may be in jeopardy."
"Then we need to hurry," stated Hunter, already breaking into a run.
The Clones all sprinted back to the cave and made their way back to the barricade. Wrecker suggested just blowing the cave-in up, but Hunter said that might too dangerous as the debris could further injure you. Instead, they set to work immediately moving the boulders and stones that were in the way by hand. Tech took out his datapad and did a scan of the area ahead. Your body was still lying motionless on the ground...and to his relief, his scan was still reading signs of life.
"She is alive," he stated aloud to the others.
"She won't be for long unless we get this cleared," said Echo.
A few more minutes went by as the Batch moved the stones as quickly as possible. Before long, they were able to create a big enough hole for Tech to slip through to the other side. He ran over to your unconscious body, knelt by your side and pulled you into his arms.
"All right, Wrecker, I've got her. You may blow the rest of the barricade," he called out.
Seconds later, Wrecker cried out, "Take cover!"
Tech shielded you with his body just as the small explosive went off and the rocks all went flying around him, a few small stones bouncing off his back and helmet. Once he saw the way was clear, he scooped you up carefully into his arms and rejoined his squad. Then all of them returned to their ship to get you proper medical attention.
Your eyes fluttered open, a throbbing pain in your head. Your hand reached up and felt there was a bandage wrapped around your head. The last thing you remember was shoving Tech out of the way of some falling rocks and then...
Tech!
Just as you were about to panic and wonder if he was okay, you turned your head and Tech was already seated at your bedside, his datapad naturally in his hands. However, hearing you stir, his attention was immediately on you.
"Welcome back," he said to you.
"What happened? Are you okay?" you asked him.
Tech's eyebrows rose in confusion. "You are the one with the injury and yet you ask if I am all right?" he questioned.
"Well...yeah," you answered. "I remember pushing you out of the way so you wouldn't get hurt, but then...everything's fuzzy after that. I don't know what happened and I just want to be sure you came out all right."
"I am...unharmed," he told you, still trying to figure out how you could be so concerned for his wellbeing when you were the person who had been hurt. "You should not have done that, however. You were hurt and I should have been the one to protect you," he then said.
You sat up, slightly wincing from the aches in your head. "You had gotten ahead of me, Tech. Even if you wanted to, you wouldn't have been able to stop that cave-in in time."
He released a sigh. "That is a fair point...and indeed, an oversight on my part."
"It's okay," you said. "You're okay and that's all that matters to me."
In that moment, Tech felt the sudden urge to reach up and lay his hand on your cheek, overcome with foreign emotion at seeing how caring you were regarding him. His hand came up, but then hovered hesitantly and he looked away for a moment, contemplating if that was a wise choice. Though, when his eyes returned to you, you were smiling at him and the look in your eyes was telling him it was okay for him to proceed. His gloved hand ever so gently came to your cheek and he laid his palm against your skin, caressing it softly with his thumb.
"Thank you," he said to you.
Leaning into his touch, you replied, "You're welcome, Tech. I would do it all again if I had to."
"I would advise against that," he stated back, eliciting an amused laugh from you.

Bad Batch Western AU
Okay, I was inspired by some Bad Batch cowboy fanart. It got me thinking, "What if they were in a Western? What would their roles and backstories be?" So here's my little cowboy Bad Batch AU thoughts :)
Four brothers were separated at a young age, each walking their own paths until fate (and a few others) brought them back together
-Hunter lived with Native Americans for a while, basically making him Sully from Dr Quin. He learned to track and listen to nature from them, making him an excellent hunter (lol)
-Wrecker was a miner in local coal mine. He lost his eye and got his scar from an explosion. His bigger than most men because he worked in the mines from such a young age.
-Tech is the local doctor. He runs a small practice in the town, helping people with mining injuries or illnesses. Him and Wrecker are the only ones who really talk
-Crosshair is a gun man. He doesn't have a home really, he just roams the wilderness, trying to avoid coming to town after him and his brother, Hunter, had a falling out.
-Echo lost his hand in a highway robbery accident. He and his deputy, Fives, were stopping bandits when one shot Fives, and the carriage fell on Echo's arm. Luckily, Tech was able to fix him up nicely. The people of the town needed a sherrif and basically just made Echo the new one. They didn't mind that he was disabled though, since pretty much nothing happens.
-Omega was raised by rich doctors in the city, but she was never allowed to be a normal girl. Sick of it, Omega ran away, taking the nearest train to anywhere but the city. Along the way, the train was robbed by bandits and Omega was left for dead in the wilderness. Luckily, an honorary member of the Cheyenne, Hunter, found her while hunting and took her into town for medical help.
Hunter carried the girl into town on his horse. The small blonde was weak, her breathing shuddered with every breath. Hunter hadn't been to town since he and Crosshair fought, but that didn't matter now. This girl's life was in his hands.
He rode into town just as the day shift in the mine ended The saloon was crowded, making it hard for Hunter to find a place to tie his horse. But then a familiar voice rang out above the clamor. "Hunter?"
Hunter turned to see his brother, a large man with a blind eye attached to various scars. He was covered in coal dust, but it was still Wrecker. "Wrecker," Hunter said as he shifted the girl in his arms "Where's Tech? I need to get her to him."
Wrecker looked like he had so much to say, but upon seeing the girl he nodded. "Come on!" He lead Hunter to the town square and into a small building. Inside were various bottles of medicine and a bag for house calls.
"That should do it, Echo" A voice said from the back.
"Feels better than ever" A second voice added. From behind the curtain, Tech and another man walked out. He had a prostetic arm and wore a sheriff's badge. He looked at Hunter then down at the girl. Tech however, stiffened. "Hunter, it's been a long time"
As much as Hunter had missed his brothers, he needed to help this girl "Tech, can you help her?"
"Set her on the table" Tech went to work, checking her pulse and bandaging her cuts. Wrecker pulled Hunter aside, though it took some persuasion to make him leave the girl. "What's her story?" He asked.
Hunter shrugged. "Don't know. I was hunting and I found her lying by the tracks and brought her here." He sighed softly. He wanted to ask so many things, but only one escaped his lips. "How's, Crosshair?"
Wrecker mumbled a bit. "I wouldn't know. Left town around the same time you did. Haven't seen him since."
Before Hunter could respond to that revelation, Tech called him over. "Hunter, she's waking up."
Hunter and Wrecker walked over to her. The girl stirred. "What happened?" She asked. Hunter smiled softly. "I found you on the road, kid. What's your name?"
"Omega"

One part of “Aftermath” I don’t think I’ll ever get over is that Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, Tech, and Omega were on their way to get Crosshair when Crosshair walked into that hangar. The way we talk about it in the fandom is as though they left Crosshair behind in that first episode so they could rescue Omega, as though they traded him for her, but that’s. Not. What. Happened.
They go back to Kamino to grab Omega despite the risk, because they think she belongs with them, yes, but also because they’re still confident. They haven’t failed a mission yet. And —and this is important—because she said she wanted to go with them, and they take that into account.
And, of course, they immediately get captured, taken to the brig, they find Omega, Crosshair fires off about following orders—his new favorite hobby that he only picked up in the last week(1)—the guards come to take Crosshair away, and Hunter puts himself between Crosshair and the guards and says No. Absolutely not. We stay together, we’re a set, do not separate, and then—
—Crosshair gets up and leaves. And the rest of the batch probably doesn’t fully understand why.
Now, I personally think that Crosshair’s decision to leave was multifaceted. I do think the chip programming had something to do with it. It’s telling him that Hunter’s made bad call after bad call since Kaller, and that the smart thing to do would be to just comply with whatever the empire wants. He’s also deeply frustrated with the rest of his squad, though he probably doesn’t know why he suddenly disagrees with them so much. And I also think that Crosshair didn’t want anyone else in his family to get hurt. He’s got his hackles raised and he’s ready to pounce when that one guard hits Hunter in the gut; he knows that they’re going to take him one way or another, so best to do it in a way that doesn’t end with the rest of his squad getting shot. All of that is in play in Crosshair’s decision to get up and go with the guards willingly, but all the rest of the batch knows is that he does it.
It’s even possible that their initial read on Crosshair’s decision is mostly in line with the last thing I listed—that Crosshair does it to keep the rest of them from getting hurt. It’s also possible that their read on it was that Crosshair was upset. But it probably doesn’t matter. The first thing—the first thing out of Hunter’s mouth when they break out of the brig is, “We need to find out where they took Crosshair.” The only reason they go to the hangar at all is to grab their gear so they have a better chance of getting him without dying on the way. They suit up, Hunter tells Tech to get the ship ready for a speedy getaway, and no sooner does he add that the rest of them are going to get Crosshair that Crosshair walks in. When Crosshair walks in—what he sees of them, and what they see of him informs every single interaction they have through the rest of the series.
First, what they see of him. Crosshair’s chip is activated. He’s just been electroshocked into submission and had that chip’s programming ramped up to twenty. He’s not in control of his thoughts or actions, but the only two people who have any inkling that that’s the case are Tech, who’s powering up the ship and not in the room, and Omega, who is a Child and about to be shot at for the first time in her life. The rest of them have no idea. All they know is that Crosshair is standing there wearing a new set of armor, leading a new squad, with a new rank, telling them to stand down and looking oh so pleased with himself as he clarifies that that is, in fact, an order. At the time, while Crosshair is monologuing about how they need to come quietly and how Hunter can’t see the bigger picture, it must look to them like the reason Crosshair left in that earlier scene was because he wanted to leave the squad. We, the audience, know that’s not true, but the rest of the batch doesn’t, especially given what they’re seeing at the time.
And then Crosshair starts shooting. It looks to them like he’s trying to kill them, and its not just empty. As much as Crosshair surely doesn’t want to, as much as Crosshair probably hates himself for this later on when he’s more in control, he shoots Wrecker. And unlike earlier in the episode, when Wrecker got shot during the battle simulation, Wrecker isn’t able to eventually get back up and keep fighting. Wrecker’s down. It’s all Hunter and Echo can do to just drag him onto the ship, and the only reason they even manage that is because Omega manages to shoot Crosshair’s rifle out of his hand; they don’t have the manpower to subdue Crosshair and drag him on board as well, not without potentially getting themselves or Crosshair (or Wrecker) killed. They don’t leave Crosshair behind for Omega’s sake or because they got in one argument and wrote him off here. They leave him because, in that moment, it looks for all the world like Crosshair does not want to go with them, like he suddenly wants them dead or captured, and they’re just trying to get out of there alive.
And what he sees of them…gah. There’s a split second, blink-and-you-miss-it moment when Crosshair first walks in, sees them, and he looks terrified. He knows what he’s about to do, and he hates it, and he probably doesn’t know WHY he hates it, because his programming has to be screaming at him that what he’s about to do is right. Good soldiers follow orders. But the part of Crosshair that’s still himself, the part that’s still aware, still able to differentiate his own mind from the chip’s programming here in the early days after order 66, that part is yelling back that he doesn’t want to hurt them, but he can’t stop it. He doesn’t have that capacity. And that has to rip him apart here. The things he must have had to tell himself later just to cope.
But also—what he sees when he walks in? He sees the Marauder powering up. He sees everyone suiting up and grabbing their gear. He has to think—the thought has to cross his mind—that they’re leaving without him. And they’re not, they were literally on their way to rescue him, that was the next move, that was the plan, the only reason they don’t go through with it is because he walks in, starts shooting, and Wrecker almost dies, but Crosshair doesn’t know that. He wasn’t there to hear Hunter say that was the plan, no more than the rest of the batch was there so see what Nala Se and Tarkin did to him.
The worst part? None of them know about the parts they missed yet(2). Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, Tech, and Omega still don’t know what happened to Crosshair after the guards took him away. Crosshair still doesn’t know the others were coming for him. And I’m really curious about what’s going to happen if, and maybe when, they all get that context.
1. “Aftermath” takes place over at least several days, meaning Crosshair’s chip has been partially active and working its way into his thought processes the entire time.
2. I also think that part of the reason why things between Hunter and Crosshair are so broken is not because either (or neither) of them is willing to see things from the other’s point of view, but because both of them understands the other’s point of view a little too well, but in a way that lacks necessary context. Hunter probably understands that Crosshair has every reason to hate him, every reason to feel bitter and betrayed, and, honestly, Hunter probably agrees with Crosshair in that regard, and hates himself because of it. But Hunter also doesn’t know that Crosshair was never trying to kill them of his own free will and that he was therefore never bitter enough to actually want to hurt them. And Crosshair probably completely understands that Hunter has every reason to distrust him and to have completely given up hope that he might come home, and he probably hates himself for everything the chip made him do. But Crosshair doesn’t know that his family was, in fact, coming back for him and that Hunter is furious with himself for having left Crosshair behind. If they both ever had those gaps filled in they’d maybe both realize that, for all their hurt and misunderstanding, neither of them has ever hated the other. I desperately need them to sit down and talk. And then hug. And to break down weeping. Give me that catharsis I am BEGGING THIS DAMN SHOW.

Here's To The Future: Part 10 - What Comes Next
Summary: The war’s over. That should be cause for celebration, except the wrong side won. Things begin to change quickly, and it doesn’t take long for Midnight to realize something’s not right among the clone army. She should be glad the war is over, but the threat of her losing her boys is all too real. She did swear she would do everything she could to keep them from being separated when the war ended.
She’s not going to give up on that promise. Even if it kills her.
Pairing: The Bad Batch x reader (no clonecest)
Warnings: Not a lot, some feels, fluff, lots of dialogue.
A/N: This one is significantly shorter than the others since it's basically 100% a filler while we shift into the second half of the story. Lots of talking, not a lot of action, especially compared to the last part.

“She is right, you know.” Tech says, breaking the tense silence. Midnight’s words have struck all of them hard, and watching her walk away was even harder. “By my calculations, our accelerating aging will give us another 30 years, give or take. Midnight will have only lived around half the normal human lifespan by that time, and Omega even less.”
Tech’s words don’t help any. Hunter had already been considering settling down somewhere, letting Omega be a kid, but the opportunity had yet to present itself. Being a soldier is easy, it is for all of them. It’s what they were made to do, but he often forgets Midnight is not like them. She’s not even a soldier. Deep down, he knows she’s right. Laying low right now is the ideal. Sure, going on missions is helpful, but if their paths cross with the Empire or more bounty hunters, they’re all at risk.
He’s already risked too much. Just a matter of days ago, he could have lost both Midnight and Omega because of his decisions. Now Midnight is dealing with something that could affect the rest of her life because of him.
“I miss them already.” Wrecker says, looking around sadly.
“I know.” Hunter says, clearing his throat. “She’s right. About all of it. She deserves a normal life, they both do. The war is over. Perhaps we need to consider all of our options. And with Midnight injured...” Hunter doesn’t want to say it. He’s been thinking nonstop about the doctor’s warning. She may never fully heal. She may never get back to where she was before. “She worked so hard to keep us together,” He looks at Crosshair. “All of us, even when the rest of us gave up, and here we are fighting and trying to tear each other apart.”
He steps closer to Crosshair, the sniper stiffening a bit. He’s preparing for another fight, for things to get physical. There was a time that wouldn’t have happened. They knew each other, trusted each other. There never would have been a thought of one of them betraying the others. Crosshair hadn’t willingly done it. Had his chip not activated, he would have been right beside them the entire way.
It’s not his fault.
“She’s right.” He stares up at Crosshair, meeting that brutal glare unwaveringly. “And you were right too. If you had wanted to hurt us still, if you were still under the Empire’s control, you could have easily taken us out. You could have given away our location many times. But you didn’t.” Hunter’s shoulders sag. “I don’t know what it was like. I was lucky that my chip never activated. Things can’t go back to the way they were, for any of us. I know you won’t accept any apology I try to give, but maybe we can come to trust each other again. We have to at least try.” Hunter holds his hand out. “For Midnight.”
Crosshair stares down at his hand for a long moment before taking it. “For Midnight.”
“What do we do now?” Echo asks.
“We need to make things right. First, though, we pay off Cid.” Hunter says.
“And how are we going to do that?” Echo asks. “We can’t risk another mission.”
“I’ve got an idea.” Hunter says, looking at Tech, the others following his gaze.
Tech glances between them, before nervously pushing his glasses higher. “What do you have in mind?”
“How much do you know about gambling?” Hunter asks.
“Waging something of value in hopes of winning something more valuable, usually money. Done through various games or against odds like winners of a sports match or pod race.” Tech answers.
“Do you think you could beat a bunch of professionals at one of those games?” Hunter asks.
“More than likely, yes.” Tech nods. “The basis of most of them are very simple, though some are based entirely on chance while others depend on a degree of strategy.”
“Good.” Hunter pats Tech’s shoulder. “You’ll have plenty of time to work on your strategy on the way.”
“Where are we going?” Wrecker asks.
“We’re taking Tech to Canto Bight so we can pay the debt we owe Cid.” Hunter says.
“We’re just leaving Midnight and Omega here?” Echo asks as they board the ship.
“They’re safe.” Hunter says. “Midnight won’t let anything happen to Omega. Besides, she needs to rest. They know where to go if they get into trouble.”
***
“I've never been in a hotel before.” Omega says, looking around.
“I have once.” Midnight says. “This place looks like a luxury suite compared to that place.”
It’s barely more than a bed and a table, but at least it has a working fresher. It was cheap, though, and the Devaronian at the front desk hadn’t asked any questions. Exactly what they were looking for. Midnight drops her bag on the bed before laying down with a sigh. Walking had been a task, and she’d really begun to feel it up the stairs to the room.
“You’re hurting again.” Omega says, climbing onto the bed next to her.
“Just sore.” Midnight says. “The doctor said it’ll be like this for a while.”
“Did you bring any bacta shots?”
Midnight grabs her bag, opening it up. “Bacta shots, clothes, rations, credits, and...” She pulls out Omega’s trooper doll.
“My trooper!” Omega takes the doll, holding it close. “You really thought of everything.”
Midnight smiles. “I didn’t want to have to leave, but they need to figure this out themselves. Pretending for our sake wasn’t working anymore.”
“They’ll come find us, right?”
Midnight rolls onto her side, smoothing hand over Omega’s hair. “They will. They’ll probably come up with some elaborate plan and make things way more complicated than they have to be, but they’ll be back. I know Hunter wants to slow down, to find a safe place for all of us. It’s hard for them, though. How do you adjust to a slow, boring life when you were designed for war? They’ll figure it out, though. They love both of us too much to leave us behind.”
“You really think they love me?” She asks.
“Of course they do.” Midnight says, leaning up on her elbow. “You’re their little sister. It might be a different kind of love, but it’s still love.”
Omega lays down on the bed, holding her trooper close. “I’ve never had that before. I spent most of my life shut in the lab on Kamino. Nala Se was nice, but I always felt alone.”
“You never have to feel that way again. Even if those idiots can’t figure things out, I made a promise to you. I’m never going to break that promise.”
Omega rolls closer, wrapping her arms around Midnight. Midnight holds her close, resting her cheek on top of her head. They stay that way for a while, only the sounds of the city below breaking the quiet.
“Midnight?” Omega asks, her voice slightly muffled.
Midnight hums, letting the younger girl move back slightly.
“What was your mother like?”
Midnight opens her eyes, taken aback by that question. “Oh, well, she was...caring. She always did her best to try and take care of us, to get us what we needed. She was brave too. She wasn’t afraid to do what needed to be done to keep us safe and healthy. She wasn’t perfect, though. She was...sad. She wanted to do better, wanted to give us a better life, but circumstances wouldn’t let her. So she didn’t always make the best decisions when it came to her own wellbeing. She drank a lot, I think to numb the sadness. She was a good mom, given the hand that life dealt us. I wish she would have made better choices, sometimes.”
Omega smiles softly. “What about your dad?”
“I never knew him.” Midnight shrugs. “I’m not even sure he ever knew about me either. My mother never talked about him. It was probably for the best, if even she couldn’t find something redeeming about him.”
“Do you ever wish you knew him?”
“No.” Midnight says. “Our lives might have been different if he’d been there, but I wouldn’t change my past now. It’s what’s led me to this point. I wouldn’t change it even if I could.”
“Sometimes I wish I had real parents.” Omega says, turning so she’s staring up at the ceiling. “I’d want them to be like you and Hunter. Strong, brave, kind. You keep your promises.”
Midnight swallows the lump in her throat. She’d never considered viewing Omega as anything other than a sister. She’s not even sure Hunter’s thought any differently either. She doesn’t think she’s the mothering type, but then again, she’s never really explored that idea before. She’s never had time to. On Coruscant, it was all about survival and trying to escape. Then in the army, it was all about just making it to the next day. Even in her fantasies about what would happen after the war, kids hadn’t really been in the picture. None of the boys had ever mentioned the idea, and so she’d never considered it.
Until Omega appeared and suddenly they had an actual child to take care of.
“I think Hunter would make a good dad,” Midnight says. It’s true. He sort of already is, trying to manage the squad even before Omega joined. “You should ask him.”
“You can do that?”
Midnight shrugs. “I don’t see why not. I mean, we’re not related but you’re still my little sister. I suppose the same can go for parents. I’m sure Hunter would be thrilled if you asked him. I think he’d probably cry.”
“They are coming back, right?” Omega asks once more, looking for reassurance.
Midnight reaches out, stroking her cheek gently. “Yes. Once they get what they need to do figured out, they’ll be knocking on that door.”
****
The next day is spent laying low in the hotel room. Midnight had risked a trip out to the market to get lunch, and there had been no sign of the boys at all. She had debated going to the starport, checking if the ship was still there, but her back had other plans.
She’s still sore despite the daily bacta shots. Her limp is slowly improving, but the pain is still there, still getting worse the more she walks around. She’s glad she made the decision to leave. Even if the guys decided to continue going on missions, she can’t. Her days of fighting are over.
Midnight flips through plantes on the datapad she’d swiped from the ship, slowly narrowing down good options. She’ll go through with the plan regardless of what the boys decide to do. Even if it’s just her and Omega moving to their little farm, then so be it. She tries to keep reassuring Omega that they are, in fact, coming back.
But as the day passes into evening, even she begins to doubt it just a little.
She’s woken early the next morning by a knock on the door. Immediately warning bells begin to sound in her head and she grabs her blaster, motioning for Omega to stay back. She creeps to the door, taking a breath before cracking it open and peeking out.
She opens it all the way, staring at Hunter.
He glances down at the blaster in her hand. “I didn’t think you’d still be that upset.”
“I’m still considering it.” Midnight says, stepping out of the way to let him in.
“Hunter!” Omega says, crawling over the bed to hug him. “You came back!”
“We did.” Hunter says. “The others wanted to come, but I figured it might draw a little too much attention. And I’m the one that needs to apologize.” He holds out a bag, a delicious smell coming from inside.
“Breakfast is your apology?” Midnight asks, crossing her arms.
“Part of it.” He shrugs.
Midnight stares at the bag for a moment, her stomach rumbling quietly. He can probably hear it loud and clear so she sighs, taking the bag before sitting on the bed. Omega peeks over her shoulder, grabbing one of the pastries. Hunter leans against the wall across from them. He’s dressed down in his civvies, looking far too casual for someone she’s supposed to be mad at.
He’s doing it on purpose.
“You were right.” He says, clearing his throat. “About everything.”
“Yeah.” Midnight blinks at him. “Usually am.”
He gives her a look. “You were right about Crosshair. We’ve proved his chip is gone and he’s had lots of chances to turn on us again, but he hasn’t. Both of us have mutually agreed to at least try to trust each other again. And we all agree that it’s not fair of us to expect you to continue fighting. I know you’re tired and I know we all are too. It is hard for us to stop, but most of us agree that maybe we need to consider something else now. I know you had your plan, and things didn’t quite work out how they were supposed to, but now is as good a time as any to make it a reality.”
“So...” Midnight waves her hand, expectantly waiting for what he’s going to say.
“So, we started with paying our debt to Cid.”
Midnight blinks at him. “How exactly?” She knows it’s not with her money. It’s all sitting in the bag on the floor.
“We took Tech to Canto Bight.” Hunter shrugs.
Midnight pouts. “You took Tech to a casino without me?”
“We didn’t really have a choice. I didn’t want to risk another mission, and it was a lot of walking.”
Midnight’s pout deepens. “That’s not fair. Using my injury against me.”
“It wasn’t that exciting. Though it was satisfying to see the faces of his opponents when he absolutely swept them.”
“Please tell me he recorded them?”
“Probably. You know how he is.” Hunter smiles. “We got more than enough to pay Cid back, and Tech’s looking into places we might be able to settle down.”
“Well, he won’t have to look far.” Midnight says.
“Midnight already found us a place.” Omega says excitedly.
“You’re not going to like the location of it, but I don’t think we could find anywhere safer.” Midnight says sheepishly. “I think we should discuss it together. All of us.”
“So, does that mean you’re coming back?” Hunter asks. “The Marauder wasn’t the same without you two.”
Midnight looks at Omega, pretending to think about it for a moment. Omega nods and Midnight turns back to Hunter, shrugging. “I guess, if you really missed us that much.”
A grin breaks out on Hunter’s face, and he moves forward, Midnight grabbing onto his shirt and tugging him down. He barely catches himself over her, chucking at her excitement. He leans down, pressing a soft kiss to her lips.
The moment is broken by the disgusted noise Omega makes.
Hunter pulls away with a laugh, ruffling Omega’s hair. “I’m glad you’re both coming back.”
Midnight tucks a strand of his hair behind his ear. “It’s an easy choice. I’d miss you too much.”
Hunter pushes himself back up. “Probably not as much as we’ve missed you. We should go see the others, though, before they decide to come up here themselves.”
“They’re here?” Midnight asks in disbelief. “I thought you said-”
“I couldn’t convince them to wait at the ship. They’re waiting outside.”
***
“So?” Wrecker asks as Hunter leaves the hotel. “Did it work?”
“Why don’t you ask me yourself, big guy?” Midnight says, stepping around Hunter.
“Midnight!” Wrecker shouts, scooping her up in a hug.
Midnight winces at the pressure on her wounded back. “Okay, okay.” She taps his shoulder. “Still fragile.”
“Sorry.” He sets her back on her feet, turning excitedly as Omega practically jumps into his arms.
“That didn’t take very long.” Echo says.
Midnight shrugs. “He was...very convincing.”
“I hope the child was not in the room.” Crosshair says.
Midnight makes a disgusted noise, smacking Crosshair’s chest. “Don’t be gross. He’s good with his words sometimes. Besides, I didn’t really want to leave in the first place. I’m glad you’ve settled your differences.”
“Let’s get back to the ship.” Hunter says, eyeing the way Midnight shifts on her feet. “Night says she may have found us a place.”
***
“Wild Space?” Hunter asks in disbelief, staring at the computer screen.
They’ve all gathered around while Midnight pulled up the place she had found for them. Possibly their new home. Somewhere they could be safe. She knew he’d have his reservations about its location, though.
“Yeah,” Midnight shrugs. “Wild Space has been Wild Space since the formation of the Republic and I doubt even the Empire will be successful in trying to gain control over it. If we want to hide, Wild Space is the place to do it.”
“Except Wild Space is known for being the playground of criminals and pirates and all other kinds of horrible people.” Echo says.
“But this place is so far out of the way of everything that there’s very little even written about it. It’s all just farming communities. No spaceports, no major imports or exports.” Midnight says. “If we want to stay hidden, a place so boring two people went and never returned is exactly what we need.”
“She has a point.” Tech says. “While Wild Space is known for being, well, wild, its dedication to keeping any overarching governing body out is ideal. Strategically, if the Empire is looking for total Galactic control, it will need to first gain control of all the formerly Republic and Separatist planets first, then turn its attention to the ungoverned Outer Rim and Neutral territories. If it can gain control over those, it may set its sights on Wild Space, but the odds of it being successful in taking over a largely unmapped area of the galaxy is very small. A planet like this would be very low on their priorities, and if we want to set up somewhere permanently, somewhere inhabited will be easier than trying to build on an uninhabited planet.”
They all turn to look at Hunter. He stares at the screen, reading over the very little there is written about this planet Midnight had found. It is inhabited, though by a small population, but it’s largely ignored due to its strange weather patterns. But there’s still beings that live there, beings that have survived and stayed hidden from the Republic for thousands of years.
“It’s worth a shot.” He finally says. If nothing else, they can go and look. He turns to Tech. “Do you think you can navigate Wild Space?”
Tech looks at him, obviously insulted by his question. “Of course I can. Though, it’s going to take time to reach it, given the lack of hyperspace lanes, and possible unmapped phenomena. We’ll need to research possible fuel stops along the way, and make sure our stock of rations is replenished. But yes, I can get us there.”
“It’s settled then.” Hunter says. “Let’s go explore our new home.”

Clone Trooper Headcanons
Based off my experience with reality shifting so I guess they're not really headcanons lol I've met everyone except Omega, as the timeline is still pre-Order 66. Updated now that I've met (most of) the Bad Batch.
Tumblr media
Rex
It can be hard to get him to open up when you first meet him, but once this man decides he likes having you around, it's hard to get rid of him.
Seriously. Try putting yourself in danger and he will throw himself into the line of fire, whether you're a Jedi or not.
And after you both get out of there alive, expect a lecture from him as if he were your older brother.
I can't tell you how many lectures I've gotten from this man. He really is the older brother you never knew you wanted or even had. He always means well, though. He just worries.
Fives
This man can, and will, goof off and give you sarcastic comments.
Rex has actively said that Fives is going to be the death of him someday.
He makes it his mission to annoy Rex as much as possible, but also knows when and where to do it. If things go south, you'd think you're suddenly standing next to Cody with how fast his attitude changes.
I once had to do a double-take with how fast he switched from goofy to serious. That was not a very fun day. We scrapped a lot of clankers though.
Echo
This man just wants some peace and quiet every so often.
Don't underestimate his quietness, however. He will throw a punch at someone if he has to.
Sometimes it's Fives on the receiving end and Echo does it just for fun.
He's also fascinated with far off galaxies, especially if they're vastly different from the one he's from. It's nice to sit and read with him, too. He loves real discussions, not debates.
Update to Echo: He's still as chaotic as he was before. He's definitely loosened up a lot more, especially on regulations. He and Wrecker seem to be close since they were feeding off each other about naming the moon we crashed on.
Cody
Don't do anything that breaks protocol. Just don't. At least not around him.
He will have you neck-deep in paperwork and other assignments if he catches you.
He's loosened up a bit, but not much. Fives always reminds him to, though.
I've got nothing. I've tried, Fives has tried, even Rex has. This man loves protocol and won't be separated from it. We've joked before about him one day marrying it. That was the day I found out just how much datawork there really is in the Grand Army of the Republic. Did that stop us? Never.
Tumblr media
Tech
If someone were to show genuine interest in the information he spews, he'd be riding the high of seeing his brothers proved wrong for weeks, months even.
And this man can talk.
He would randomly spew out facts if said person was around, not even needing any cue that he was heard.
This man has tattoos. He knows what he's doing regarding them, too. He's done Hunter's tattoos, as well as Crosshair's. He can definitely talk. We spent so much time just talking about random things. I think he was happy to have someone to talk to, honestly. He doesn't randomly give out facts often, but he learns very quickly what someone is interested in and bases his randomly given facts on that. He told me that during our half a rotation's worth of time conversation we had because I asked him how he felt about randomly giving out facts.
Crosshair
Getting through to him would take a miracle. He's a hard nut to crack.
If he thinks you're useful to the team at all, he'd at least tolerate you.
Spend enough time around him and his brothers, he may even pick on you like he does with the others.
Even though he came to sit with us by the fire, that was literally as far as we got. He went right back to being a loner, but that's okay. So, he's definitely not the easiest to get along with (especially with the rocky introductions we had with each other), but it's not impossible to do it. For everything else, I have no idea yet lol
Hunter
He knows more about you than anyone around before you even open your mouth.
He could even tell whether you're Force-sensitive or not.
This man is incredible and everyone forgets just how good his senses actually are until he actively needs to use them.
I learned a lot about Hunter while on our hunting trip. This man might as well be Force sensitive with how good his senses are. During the actual hunts, we didn't need to speak, only needed to rely on our senses. He works incredibly well with Jedi. It's amazing.
Wrecker
If you even just casually mention that there's the smallest possiblity you like to blow things up, you've just gained a new best friend.
If you give him something to blow up on top of that, he won't let you sit out on it. He'd have both of you press the button at the same time.
Literally would have his finger on one half, yours on the other.
Nobody tell Wrecker that I'm planning to find and secure explosives on our next mission together that he will 100% get to use. I'm serious. No one tell him.
Bonus!
Omega
She'd probably be the first to befriend you. Let's be real.
She'd want to show you her room on the Marauder and would be excited the entire time.
She'd probably be extremely happy to know someone who doesn't see them as just clones. She'd be even happier if you became part of their little dysfunctional family, whether they see you a lot or not.

I just posted a spoiler...looks like someone is back w/their brothers...*cough* Mosshair *cough*
Please take my analysis with a grain of salt as Disney can post flashback scenes, scenes that might look to be part of a whole sequence but are two separate/several ones to throw us off. Plus these is plenty that they AREN'T probably including in the trailer. Should be interesting if there will be a second trailer for S3.
I don't see too much serious evidence that outwardly points to Tech. HOWEVER, I do see two "maybe" possibilities in the trailer and they are both wearing helmets:
Timestamp 1:03, The "X" Clone Trooper shown in the second half of the trailer. Now I have seen one trooper who unalived himself in the last season w/Senator Chuchi and Rex, so we know there are clones still actively working for the Empire. And, if you look REALLY close, Timestamp 0:36, there are more X Clone Troopers in the trailer scene right before the one w/Omega getting scanned. It's a shot from the top of the room showing what looks like 3 X Clone Troopers and a droid. Could one of them be Tech? Don't know.
Timestamp 1:14, The scene with the Imperial armored soldier in the cockpit of his ship lifting his left arm up. Did Tech steal a stormtroopers armor to save his brothers? Remember Tech's "hand signal" callback to S1? Is he signaling to The Batch? Or, also in Tech fashion, is he flailing because of an explosion as Tech sometimes does? Or, is it just a random stormtrooper and not Tech?
Looks like we get Fennec, Rex, Echo, Phee, Howzer, Cad Bane, Ventress, Palpatine, and Scorch.
The scenes in the trailer that REALLY has me scratching my head:
Timestamp 0:28 shows an Imperial Transport ship crashed and smoldering on a large hill. Is it the same ship from Timestamp 1:07? Faraway shot of several figures walking away: The one at the top of the hill looks like Omega. There is a figure either rolling down the hill: Wrecker? Although, silly me who works with dogs...it almost looks like a dog running down the hill. And a figure at the bottom that I at first thought was Crosshair...but then it kinda looks like Rex with the shadowy person walking next to them on the other side. It looks like Phee's hair. Or did this ship only carry Omega as seen in Timestamp 1:23? Did she meet someone on the planet to help her hide? Someone with a dog (I just remember the wonderful scene with the space puppy licking Omega's face and how happy her laugh sounded)?
Timestamp 0:33 is that Crosshair in the left hand side of the screen walking calmly in the opposite direction (that everyone else is running)? Is he settling a score? Is that Clone Trooper "X" (possibly Tech?).
What does the "il" uniform patches on each side of Omega's shoulders mean. I checked the Aurebesh language keys online. Doesn't match up with anything.
Who is CX-1??? Timestamp 1:15. Boba Fett????
Timestamp 1:21, who is the dude in the white and grey armor??? Wait...OH SHIT...is THAT WOLFFE???
I DON'T trust Emerie. She's creepy. Sorry. Not all the clones are tight with one another. I worry she's in secretly with Hemlock.
Are Fennec and Cad Bane working with The Batch? Or against them? Is Ventress teaming up with The Batch against Palpatine? Or is she truly fighting them at the end? Or is that just two separate scenes meant to look like they go together?
And, something that makes me sad: Both Hunter and Wrecker look older, more aged. They are still so handsome. However, with the stress of what they have gone through, plus their advanced aging...well, how long do they have left? The still of Echo doesn't look like he aged at all. Could it be that he isn't as accelerated due to what the Techno Union did to him? Or were The Batch genetically altered to be so specialized...but live even shorter lives than the Regs?

Here it is everyone - the final part:
Aftermath’s battle simulation: How one scene reintroduces us to Clone Force 99, and possibly foreshadows later events in the series.
(Part 4)
Last we left off, Hunter and Crosshair were pinned down behind a barrier, and Tech had just reprogrammed one of the droids. Now, as the group of droids close in on the batch, Tech utilizes the other, taking out several droids in quick succession. The use of the batch’s theme music here makes it clear that this is a triumphant turning point of the battle, and the team come back stronger as a result.
Thanks to Tech’s actions here, Hunter and Crosshair are free to move from their position behind the barrier and rejoin the fight. If this moment is indeed meant to foreshadow Tech’s fall on Eriadu as I theorized in part 3, then it is likely that his choice there will be the main reasoning behind a change in circumstances for Hunter and Crosshair in season 3.
The last we saw of Crosshair in action in season 2, he had fought his way past armed guards in an attempt to warn his squad about Hemlock. Despite being recaptured, he still remains strong, refusing to give up any information about his brothers, even under torture. He seems full of anger and hate for the empire, and yet, from what we have seen of him in the season 3 promotional material, he is despondent and depressed.
Meanwhile, Hunter has spent the better part of seasons 1 and 2 avoiding getting involved in Rex’s clone rebellion. However, as Rex and Hunter share a scene in the season 3 trailer, that leads me to believe that Hunter does end up assisting them, even to a lesser degree than other clones like Echo.
Overall, I believe that the main reason behind both of these changes in circumstance are directly due to Tech’s actions. Of course, Hunter has always been focused on saving Omega when she is in danger, and Crosshair has always been of a more reserved temperament than his brothers, but I firmly believe that each one of them never expected to have to handle losing one of their own.
Throughout the clone wars, there were often comparisons made between the clones and the droids, based solely on the fact that they were the two largest forces on the two opposing sides of the war effort. Many of the clones story arcs were centered around discovering their individuality and their ability to make their own decisions - the main qualities which set them apart from the Separatist droids. If Tech does somehow return in season 3 and is under the control of the empire, this moment will make for an interesting parallel. Tech first reprograms an imperial droid to protect his brothers from the empire, and in return, the empire reprograms him.
Moving on, Hunter and Crosshair each use their own unique skills to fight the same droids, but their efforts are not the result of a coordinated plan as was the case with Echo and Wrecker taking down a droid for Tech to reprogram. Instead, they both seem to move completely independently, but are out to achieve the same thing. To me, this shows that while they will remain physically separated for some time into the final season, they will each find their own ways to fight back against the empire, and will finally be working towards the same goal.
Meanwhile, Tech realizes he cannot sustain his connection, and when another droid shoots the one he is atop of, he is flung backwards, injuring himself as he hits the ground. In Plan 99, the imperial ship hits the rail car Tech is running above, which causes him to lose his balance and brings about his fall.
Interestingly, Wrecker is the first to notice Tech’s fall here, just as he does on Eriadu.
Hunter notices the commotion and throws his knife into the arm of the droid, which has no effect besides distracting it from Tech and turning it’s attention onto Hunter. Now completely unarmed, Hunter has no choice but to flee back behind a barrier, this time completely alone. In my opinion, this likely means that whatever method Hunter initially follows during season three will likely have no effect on the empire, and instead put himself at risk. Here, he calls on Crosshair to provide them with cover fire, but Crosshair doesn’t immediately take action.
Tumblr media
Across the room, Wrecker moves closer to Tech, but is unable to reach him due to the heavy fire from the droids. He calls out for Tech, telling him to ‘Hold tight.’ Tech attempts to move, reaching out to Wrecker, but finds he is too injured to do so, collapsing back to the floor. Then, he states ‘I’m not going anywhere.’ If this scene is indeed as laden with foreshadowing as I have analyzed here, this line could be one of the most obvious indicators that Tech survives his fall on Eriadu - either by being rescued by an outsider, kept alive by the empire, or that he did indeed perish but his body was used to create a new clone.
Tumblr media
Crosshair finally turns to analyze the ongoing battle; he knows his own sniper rifle, along with the rest of the batch’s training blasters, are useless against the droids. Hunter is now completely unarmed and Tech is down, leaving only Wrecker with a functional weapon, but he is unable to get close enough to the droids to use it. Thinking fast, Crosshair calls to Wrecker to throw his knife, and Wrecker obliges. Crosshair fires a shot, lodging the knife directly into the head of the last remaining droid.
It is interesting to me that, throughout the first season, Crosshair was consistently telling Hunter that he could not see the ‘bigger picture’, in hopes that Hunter and the others would give in and join the empire. However, it was in fact Crosshair himself that could not fathom everything that was going on around him, as he was so focused on his individual circumstances. Yet in this moment, Crosshair is the only one who is able to take in the whole scene before him, and not only realize the only play they have left, but also to execute it perfectly to save his brothers.
Tumblr media
This moment also leads me to believe that Crosshair will be the one to deal the final blow to the empire, likely by killing one of the shows main villains. In my opinion, the most likely candidate for this is Hemlock - Crosshair has the most personal reasoning to kill him due to his time spent in captivity on Mount Tantiss - and the droid being taken down by a direct hit to the head could represent Hemlock being the ‘brains’ behind the imperial cloning machine.
At the end of the battle, only Crosshair remains physically armed with his rifle. As the last droid collapses to the ground, it reveals Hunter and Crosshair in frame, each one moving out of their respective cover-spots and towards each other. Hunter compliments Crosshair on his work, likely illustrating that this final move made by Crosshair will be what allows he and Hunter to begin mending their troubled relationship.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Tech remains on the ground, struggling to force himself upright. Wrecker and Echo immediately rush to help him up, while Hunter and Crosshair make their way over to the group. The final frame is the of the batch, all stood side by side on level ground, facing the same direction and acting as a united front for the first time since the simulation began. Tarkin, acting as the personification of the empire, turns his back on them and walks away.
Tumblr media
(I really struggled to find an image of this moment, so I’m hoping it’s okay I’ve used a screenshot of a beautifully colored gif made by @kamino-coruscant - check it out here! https://www.tumblr.com/kamino-coruscant/664413485467320320/tired-tech-after-the-training-simulation-the-bad)
With regards to this moment, Echo and Wrecker going to help Tech up could have a few different interpretations. If Tech is revealed to still be alive in some form, it could be literal foreshadowing of Wrecker and Echo being the ones to bring him back to the group. However, if Tech remains dead, this moment could simply symbolize the pair working to preserve his legacy by keeping their family safe and free.
We do not see the batch move to leave the training ground before the scene cuts off, which could also be relevant to their potential ending. Their remaining on the low-level training ground could symbolize how, as clones, they will always be in danger from the empire, especially as its power continues to grow up until the main era of the rebellion. However, as shown by Tarkin’s departure, the empire may not always have their sights directly set on capturing/destroying the group.
This idea could be interpreted in both a positive and negative light. On one hand, this could mean that the batch escape the empire of their own accord, though their continued presence on the training ground symbolizes how they will never truly be free of their identities as soldiers. Alternatively, the empire could eventually decide themselves that pursuing the batch is not worth the trouble it brings, as they have already taken what they needed from the group.
I believe that the main thing we all need to remember regarding the upcoming final season, is that, eventually, the empire will succeed in their goal to create clones themselves. As revealed in the Rise of Skywalker, Rey’s father Dathan was a strand-cast clone of Palpatine, and was only considered to be a failed clone due to his lack of strong connection to the force. He was born in 12BBY, a mere six years after the second season of the bad batch took place. Additionally, it has been stated that Snoke was created through the same cloning method prior to Dathan, making his creation even sooner in the timeline. My point is, whatever happens in this final season, the empire will not be losing their monopoly on cloning technology. All we can hope for is that it does not come at the expense of the batch’s lives.
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed my rambling analysis of this scene. All we have to do now is see if any of it actually comes to pass…

This might be a little weird but i always am wearing mismatched socks(color and type not height) and imagine the bad batch all have a bunch of pairs of the same kind and color so how would the batch react to their consistent mismash of socks

Hunter
Okay, some of them think it's weird, but it makes sense in Hunter’s head logically; he matches his bandana with his socks.
Meaning he only wears red socks.
Doesn’t matter if they’re different shades; a crimson and vermillion red doesn’t make much of a difference.
He’s a bit of a color coordinator, let's be real.
It’s funny, cause Hunter’s really not that vain about his appearance. I think we all headcanon that he uses 13 in 1 shampoo and conditioner in the shower so like he really doesn’t care that much–
But something about having red socks… dunno, they just gotta be red, okay?
One time he couldn’t find another red pair, and he was scrambling around the Maurader for one.
“Has anyone seen another red sock??”
“No, Hunter. You’ve asked this 10 times, you’re not going to get a different answer.”
“Oh shut up Echo!”
Then Tech threw a pink one in his direction, and it landed directly in his face.
Hunter sputtered in shock and threw it back.
“This isn’t red!”
“Well technically, it is red, just a very tinted shade of it–”
“Nope, not gonna take your smartassery right now.”
Then he proceeded to dig up the laundry basket until he found another red one.
Tech
Hates it with a burning passion.
Always tries his best to make his socks coordinated while the others wear mismatched ones.
It’s incredibly difficult.
He always ends up getting the colors pretty close, but slightly off from each other.
Suddenly he whoops in triumph and pulls out two separate socks and its just two shades of black and he throws them across the room.
Do y’all see a pattern here with the throwing aijerlakjdf
Crosshair meanwhile is laughing in the corner because he has one of the matching socks on right now and he’ll never know muahahhaha!
Wrecker
Is probably the one that started it and caused the chain reaction.
It’s literally just socks and no one sees them it doesn’t kriffing matter if the colors match–(even if some of his brothers disagree)
He’s got like hella holes in his socks though, so he’s ended up kind of having his own.
If one of them is sorting laundry and sees a hole in one of the , welp its Wrecker’s now.
He’s like the only one that doesn’t care about holes in his socks. C’mon, he’s a simple man! He doesn’t need all these intricacies, thank you very much.
Same sentiment goes for the type of socks. He does prefer to have them go over his ankles but he doesn't care if the socks are fluffy or itchy and closely cropped to his skin, as long as it covers his feet he’s fine.
Crosshair
Doesn’t seek comfort, for some fucking reason.
Avoids fluffy or comfortable socks like the plague.
Might explain why he gets hella calluses on his feet.
But it helps him stay on his toes (don’t mind the pun), instead of in a comfort zone that’ll make him possibly mess up his performance when he shoots.
His socks end up being the most mismatched.
Nobody knows how but he always manages to have his socks with such ugly and contrasting colors it hurts Hunter’s poor little brain–
Like he’ll end up with some bright orange and then a soothing lavender and holy shit it’s so ugly dear lord.
Echo
Fluffy sock wearer all the way.
This man prioritizes comfort in lots of ways the rest of the batch doesn’t, mostly because of the chronic pain and daily discomfort he experiences since Skako Minor.
So yeah, the colors don’t matter to him; fluffiness does.
However, despite being a fluffy sock enthusiast, he doesn’t like them all the time.
There are situations where it's simply too hot or irritating for those kind socks.
But they still have to be some semblance of soft, or comfortable.
