For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Galatians 5:17
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:19-21
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7
“Come now, and let us reason together,” saith the Lord. “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
Isaiah 1:18
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
And such were some of you. But ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:11
For by one offering He hath perfected for ever those who are sanctified.
Hebrews 10:14
"To them God has been pleased to make known what is the riches of glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
Colossians 1:27

I’ve been wondering… has there been any mentions of why Kyral and David consider themselves enemies?
I’ve been writing them sort of hostile to each other (more pettiness than anything) but I was looking back through the synopsis and it doesn’t seem for there to be anything that could indicate to them having any kind of animosity. Especially after the episode Under Thy Skin, in which they get to explore each other’s hardships
Is their animosity something that builds after season three, with the introduction of Kyral’s younger brother?
(Also, wouldn’t be Kyral’s younger brother be working in the science department? And wouldn’t he have David as his direct superior? Idk)
First of all, thank you for the ask! And you are right, while it is written in my notes, we did not have an opportunity to explain why the relationship between David and Kyral is so strained. I will take the opportunity to clear that up!
Kyral, as First Officer of the ship, is a new arrival on Eridani (since Saavik was the former XO). That means he has to build a relationship with all of his new colleagues, especially the Captain. And it's not easy, with Saavik being Vulcan, somewhat distant, yet having high expectation of herself and those under her command. This is something both she and Kyral have to work through together during the series. Kyral perceives this difficulty as him not being good enough, despite all of his training, and he frustrates him greatly, as he is very demanding from himself.
David on the other hand is very close to Saavik! They are close friends, went through life and death together, and it is revealed they share a telepathic sibling bond since his resurrection. Saavik places a lot of value in his contributions in time of crisis and often has him go to the ready room for debriefs along with Kyral in early episodes. This closeness and trust between Saavik and David elicits a lot of jealousy and frustration from Kyral, added to the fact that while David is a scientist, he is a bit of a loose canon, clashing with Kyral's firm sense of discipline.
Basically, they started their interactions on shaky grounds, and unspoken resentment spilled over into animosity from Kyral, which was met with a similar response by David, creating mutual dislike, and that dynamic became tinged with hostility. They then find anything to nitpick on each other.
While Under Thy Skin did give them some understanding, namely on David's life with disability and Kyral's meetings with Dr. Cohen, it still did not fix the strain, with a rivalry lingering and a lot of irritant remaining unaddressed between them, but did ease it up.
So perhaps animosity does describe it better than enemy, since it's a harsh word, but it was a simple way to illustrate the tension.
Until, as you did picked up, Marithyk's introduction. Kyral is justifiably very protective of his brother, and indeed, Marithyk is David's direct subordinate. When they meet in S3, they have this sort of instant connection, bonding over rare flora, right before Marithyk joins the Eridani, which transforms it into a forbidden romance kind of thing...
Kyral completely disagrees with the relationship, even outside of the ground of ranks, since he doesn't think David Marcus, one of the scientists behind Genesis, a man he has struggled to work with for two years and son of James T. Kirk (notorious flirt) is worthy of his baby brother.
As for the way their relationships works out due to rank, considering that David is a lieutenant, once Marithyk gets promoted from ensign to Lieutenant as well, it gets to work, so long as it is declared in all due form through Starfleet and the Captain. (Also, since David isn't the highest officer on the ship, Marithyk still has recourse in case of wrongly used authority, so that's why I think this relationship can be allowed by Starfleet, but I digress.)
So, to sum it up, since you are (most likely) writing for Season 1, the petty hostility fits perfectly well, as while they are hostile to one another, they still both are members of Starfleet and have to behave professionally.
It was a pretty long answer to your question, but I do hope I got to clear things up. If anything, don't hesitate to ask for more clarifications, I will be glad to give them. And thanks again for the ask!!

James 1:12-16 (NIV). [12] “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. [13] When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; [14] but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. [15] Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. [16] Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV). “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
James 4:7 (NLT). “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
“Defend Against Temptation” By In Touch Ministries:
“Temptation comes to all; the wise prepare for it.”
“When we struggle with temptation, understanding how it works can be helpful. Every sin originates as a thought (James 1:14-15). If we hold on to the thought, it becomes a fantasy—the chance to imagine what pursuing that notion would be like, without actually doing so. Fantasies can easily become entangled with our emotions. This creates a desire, which brings us to the point where a choice must be made. And we must either consent to the sin or refuse. This process is quite dangerous, as the progression from thought to choice can be almost instantaneous.
Wise believers determine ahead of time to resist temptation. They build the defense before the offense happens. There are two cornerstones to a good defense: the recognition that God’s in control and the commitment to obey Him (1 Corinthians 10:13; James 4:7).
We can further fortify our defense when temptation actually comes. Satan has a way of spotlighting the pleasure of sin until it’s all we see. But with prayerful effort, we can retrain our focus to take in the bigger picture: Is this choice a violation of God’s Word? What are the consequences?
No one can resist temptation perfectly—we’ll all continue to struggle with sin. But the more we meditate on Scripture and communicate with God, the stronger our defense will be.”

after having owned this book for 8-9 years (!) I am finally reading cursed child for the first time. I really dreaded reading this from year to year - first bc I always slightly disliked the dh epilogue (as opposed to a good epilogue that includes a battle of hogwarts debrief in the form of a big speech that makes us all cry, not a huge flash forward into a time where "all was well" while both harry and the readers are still grieving half of the characters in this series but whatever), then bc the reviews were very bad, then bc the fantastic beasts movies were a bit meh and last but not least bc of jkr's gross transphobic statements. after that I kind of forgot about it, but I've recently wanted to reread the series so bad and realized that I still hadn't read cursed child so I challenged myself to read it first before doing a reread.
despite still thinking that a play is not the best medium for this story as it feels very rushed and staccato (and not something jkr is good at - this should've been a short story on pottermore, I loved those rip), it's actually better than I thought. I think the premise is pretty interesting and I'm already quite hooked although scorpius casually mentioning that he might be voldemort's son is pretty wild imo. I think the characters are quite fleshed out, I especially like albus (I also picture him exactly like edmund from narnia and as you know I loved that guy), even though some feel very similar to the og ones. like rose basically has hermione's lines from ps and is just slightly more bitchy. james jr is basically james sr etc. I somehow don't mind though? only delphi is 1:1 tonks which is a poor choice I think - bc her death is still fresh, y'know :( (not in my headcanon, but you don't need to know that)
what I noticed however and which I don't know how to feel about yet, is that the pairings albus/scorpius and rose/scorpius seem to mirror their parents' most popular non canon ship. so harry/draco and hermione/draco. I wonder if jkr wanted to do fan service for them or - this is a wild guess though - she even copied some of the ideas from fanfiction? anyway, it's really strange to me as I never shipped these two ships, but I guess the fandom got the second generation canon now (albeit ambigious as I don't think albus and scorpius end up together and idk if rose and scorpius do).
